- 0:49Speaker 5: I remember bringing our field people and our our chefs
- 0:55Speaker 5: to make sure the grass and the food was up
- 0:58Speaker 5: to speed. And then after they were here here, you know,
- 1:01Speaker 5: you forget that these guys do fields for a living.
- 1:03Speaker 5: They've got four golf five golf courses in the area
- 1:06Speaker 5: and the fields were impeccable. And then the food is
- 1:11Speaker 5: all organically grown. And then so I think the concern
- 1:15Speaker 5: was can the grass You know none of this? You
- 1:17Speaker 5: know it wasn't woods or anything, but can you can
- 1:19Speaker 5: the fields be ready in time that that fields easy
- 1:23Speaker 5: to control? Of course, the hotels here, that the food tent,
- 1:28Speaker 5: this facility was built real quickly, and then it was
- 1:31Speaker 5: really about the grass fields and they did a great.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Job out here at Ball Arena for Nuggets Media Day.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Start rolling through some of these interviews a little bit later,
- 1:46Speaker 1: But how about that? Did you guys know that the
- 1:49Speaker 1: grass Imagine going to a resort like the Greenbrier and
- 1:52Speaker 1: saying I wanted to bring my food people to make
- 1:54Speaker 1: sure it was up It's like I think that they
- 1:58Speaker 1: got that.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Probably. I'm sorry, Sure, is quail underglass not good enough
- 2:02Speaker 2: for you?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Well, let's talk to Jeff Lakewell ESPN dot com and
- 2:05Speaker 1: joined us on the ramos Law hotline car accident. You
- 2:07Speaker 1: need ramos Law medical doctor and attorney ramas Law dot com.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Uh Legy, can can you confirm that the food is
- 2:13Speaker 1: indeed up to par there?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Well? I, uh, visually yes, but I cannot confirm that
- 2:20Speaker 3: the uh the sports Riders would ever be so graced
- 2:25Speaker 3: with the Greenbrier the Greenbrier.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Jeff, admit it, You're just like me. We order our
- 2:31Speaker 2: food off a wall right, that's that's how we roll.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Well, you know here it's uh, I've been told and
- 2:41Speaker 3: uh I was in the in the resort long ago
- 2:43Speaker 3: for another event, but I've been told that the all
- 2:47Speaker 3: of the restaurants except of one require a jacket, So uh,
- 2:52Speaker 3: bring your formal layer if you come to the Greenbrier.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Hey.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Uh, we got the news that Alex Singleton towards a
- 2:59Speaker 4: c L during the It happened on that interception return
- 3:02Speaker 4: by Brandon Jones. How crazy is it to hear that
- 3:05Speaker 4: he played the entire game with a torn ACL?
- 3:08Speaker 3: Jeffrey, Yeah, I can only remember one time in my
- 3:13Speaker 3: whole career where a guy even did remotely close to
- 3:17Speaker 3: that Bradley Chub when he tore his ACL and Jacksonville
- 3:21Speaker 3: went back into the game, I remember, and played a
- 3:25Speaker 3: couple series after the injuries. So it's a very rare thing,
- 3:31Speaker 3: you know, the Broncos. Again, I was not at medical
- 3:36Speaker 3: school the day they taught medicine, but I've been told
- 3:40Speaker 3: because it's only the ligament, like, nothing surrounding the ligament
- 3:45Speaker 3: or other parts of the joint were damaged. So that's
- 3:49Speaker 3: partially why he was able to do it, and why
- 3:52Speaker 3: they're pretty optimistic about his recovery for next season.
- 3:58Speaker 1: You know, on top of that leg, you like, this
- 3:59Speaker 1: is a giant loss. I mean, this is a guy
- 4:01Speaker 1: who led the team in tackles the last couple of years.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And I was wondering why the Kwant Alexander signing happened yesterday,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and I guess we have that answer now. But how
- 4:10Speaker 1: did they replace him? Is this a moneyball algorithm by
- 4:12Speaker 1: committee thing or does somebody take a bigger role? What
- 4:15Speaker 1: do you see happening?
- 4:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't. I don't think everybody. Anybody's taken all
- 4:20Speaker 3: the snaps Singleton played, you know, pure straight up. I
- 4:24Speaker 3: think it will be My gut is that will be
- 4:27Speaker 3: a combination because they were already sort of rotating Welch
- 4:31Speaker 3: and Barton at the other linebacker spot depending on personnel grouping.
- 4:36Speaker 3: So I think it will be more mix and match.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Justin Sternot will play probably more in the offense. And
- 4:43Speaker 3: I believe they will add another veteran linebacker to the
- 4:47Speaker 3: practice squad to join Kwan Alexander as well. So I
- 4:53Speaker 3: think they're sort of preparing to have to use a
- 4:57Speaker 3: lot of people. You know, Alexander Scott some experience with
- 5:01Speaker 3: Peyton before, and we have learned that the guys with
- 5:05Speaker 3: experience with Peyton before usually end up getting snaps at
- 5:09Speaker 3: some point.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Jeff I loved your interview with Tillman about everybody wanting
- 5:15Speaker 2: to get a sack or make a player whatever. That
- 5:19Speaker 2: front seven, and you can call them more than that
- 5:22Speaker 2: because they rotate guys all the time. It seems like
- 5:25Speaker 2: that's just one giant, you know, nine Musketeers type of
- 5:28Speaker 2: mentality or more than that. That everybody is happy for
- 5:32Speaker 2: everybody and by the way, everybody does get a piece
- 5:35Speaker 2: in that linebacking corps, that defensive line.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah, that most has been one of their strengths so
- 5:42Speaker 3: far as they have by committee. You know, they don't
- 5:45Speaker 3: have sort of the one dominant edge rusher where where
- 5:49Speaker 3: people are gonna have to you know, rotate push protections
- 5:53Speaker 3: over or all of those things. But they do have
- 5:57Speaker 3: a lot of effective players, and you know, he doesn't
- 6:00Speaker 3: always fill up the stat sheet, but Franklin Myers's addition
- 6:05Speaker 3: has allowed everyone else to play where they they're supposed to.
- 6:09Speaker 3: You know, last year Dak Allen was getting a lot
- 6:12Speaker 3: of double teams turned his way and it really impacted him.
- 6:17Speaker 3: But with John Franklin Myers in the lineup, Zach Allen
- 6:21Speaker 3: can play where he should play, and DJ Jones can
- 6:25Speaker 3: play where he should play. And you've seen the results
- 6:28Speaker 3: of that. You know, I think I think Allen had
- 6:30Speaker 3: eight pressures against the Steelers and was you know, a
- 6:35Speaker 3: factor throughout the whole game in Tampa. So you know
- 6:39Speaker 3: that front three is really creating problems and the beneficiaries
- 6:45Speaker 3: have been the edge guys and they're getting a lot
- 6:48Speaker 3: of facts when you know, quarterbacks are trying to climb
- 6:51Speaker 3: the pocket and there's no room to do it.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Jeffrey, Now that Tyler Bidet has arrived on the scene,
- 6:58Speaker 4: he's on the active roster. Might he's seen more carries
- 7:01Speaker 4: for him this week? What does that do to Javonte?
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, Vic, that's the great mystery. You know,
- 7:08Speaker 3: we didn't learn much yesterday and practice about how that
- 7:11Speaker 3: might go. And you know, Sean Payton has admitted he
- 7:15Speaker 3: has a harder time with a three man rotation at
- 7:18Speaker 3: that position that he does it with two. So you
- 7:21Speaker 3: know he's either going to try and and learn how
- 7:25Speaker 3: to be better with three, or you know, one of
- 7:27Speaker 3: those two guys or Gavante Williams or Julia mcgonald's gonna
- 7:31Speaker 3: are gonna lose some carries. But uh, if it's truly
- 7:35Speaker 3: a meritocracy and you're rewarded for performance, you know today
- 7:39Speaker 3: should get the ball far more than he is. All
- 7:42Speaker 3: he's done is is create impact plays. Now, he's not
- 7:46Speaker 3: going to average eight yards of carry if they keep
- 7:49Speaker 3: giving him the ball, But in the limited opportunities he's had,
- 7:53Speaker 3: he's by far the most productive guy, and he's created
- 7:57Speaker 3: two of the biggest plays they've had in the running game.
- 7:59Speaker 3: And he's and behind the same line as the other guys.
- 8:02Speaker 3: So that tells me deserves a look. And I think
- 8:06Speaker 3: he will get you know, probably what we saw in Tampa.
- 8:10Speaker 3: You know, maybe nine carries ten to you know, things
- 8:12Speaker 3: go well, maybe he gets barely double digitaries because I
- 8:17Speaker 3: can't see yet that they're simply gonna, you know, bench
- 8:22Speaker 3: one of the other running backs. But I think everything
- 8:24Speaker 3: is on the table the way they've struggled offensively. They're
- 8:28Speaker 3: the only team in the league with a quarterback leading
- 8:32Speaker 3: them in rushing.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Two part question here, LEGI, here's the first one. Will
- 8:37Speaker 1: Jordan Humphrey was tied with Courtland Sutton for the most
- 8:40Speaker 1: snaps at wide receiver and Marvin Mims was fifth again
- 8:42Speaker 1: this week.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Explain please, I cannot. I still cannot. I couldn't explain
- 8:48Speaker 3: it last year. You know, the football explanation is is
- 8:52Speaker 3: that Humphrey's better at uh blocking the backside of run plays.
- 8:57Speaker 3: He's better at running out of routes, out of the
- 9:02Speaker 3: slot or inside. And you know that he knows Peyton's
- 9:08Speaker 3: offense better than the other guys too, So uh, you
- 9:12Speaker 3: know that's the explanation you get. But you know Peyton
- 9:17Speaker 3: has shown over and over again that when he's gonna
- 9:20Speaker 3: have a tie at receiver, he's gonna break it with
- 9:23Speaker 3: little Jordan Humphrey getting playing time.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Here's my second question. The snap count for tight ends.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Greg Dolciic was behind both Adam Troutman and Atkins.
- 9:37Speaker 4: What's up?
- 9:39Speaker 3: Well again, you know it's uh blocking is an issue.
- 9:45Speaker 3: You know, we think of tight ends these days a
- 9:48Speaker 3: strickling offensive weapon, catch the ball, run with the ball
- 9:51Speaker 3: if they plays uh. But I think they are. I
- 9:57Speaker 3: think they've had enough trouble just blocking with the five
- 10:01Speaker 3: offensive linemen that they've they've gotten the tight ends involved,
- 10:05Speaker 3: and when they've had Dulphins and they've done some silly
- 10:08Speaker 3: things they've had Dulphin's try to come all the way
- 10:11Speaker 3: across the formation and pick off the outside linebacker on
- 10:15Speaker 3: run plays and that that's just asking a guy to
- 10:18Speaker 3: do something he hasn't been asked to do in his
- 10:21Speaker 3: football life, and it's going to be a struggle for him.
- 10:24Speaker 3: So it's a little, you know, disingenuous to me that
- 10:28Speaker 3: they are upset at the results when they asked him
- 10:31Speaker 3: to do things they shouldn't and they've made such a
- 10:34Speaker 3: production about saying, Noah players role and only ask him
- 10:39Speaker 3: to do what they're good at and those types of things.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So I think Dulphins just got caught up in that
- 10:44Speaker 3: they need extra guys blocking the perimeter. And then he
- 10:48Speaker 3: you know, he's had a couple drops and Javonte Williams
- 10:52Speaker 3: wasn't punished for his fumble, but you know, Adric Estimay was,
- 10:56Speaker 3: and I think Dulphins at times was taken out of
- 10:59Speaker 3: the game for the drops uh before as well?
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah, really interesting, Hey, Jeff, have you talked to your
- 11:06Speaker 2: New York peeps this week? What what should we expect
- 11:10Speaker 2: out of those Jets?
- 11:10Speaker 3: And Aron, Well, you know, they think they've got it
- 11:15Speaker 3: going now after last week, you know that they finally
- 11:18Speaker 3: got the glimpse of what they should look like with
- 11:21Speaker 3: Rogers going full speed in the offense. Uh. And Rodgers
- 11:26Speaker 3: will test that because he you know he will. He
- 11:30Speaker 3: will fire fire one in there at certain as Certain's
- 11:34Speaker 3: on Garrett Wilson and you know whereas Mayfield essentially avoided,
- 11:40Speaker 3: you know, going to Mike Evans and and you know
- 11:43Speaker 3: Smith essentially avoided going to DK Metcalf. I think Rogers
- 11:48Speaker 3: will challenge Certain and they'll probably try some sort of
- 11:53Speaker 3: double move or on those free plays. You know, nobody's
- 11:56Speaker 3: better at getting the defense to jump and then throwing
- 11:59Speaker 3: over the top uh when they don't finish out the
- 12:03Speaker 3: play when the flag is thrown. So I think they
- 12:05Speaker 3: will test their tan more than others. And and I
- 12:08Speaker 3: think he will spread the ball around more than the
- 12:11Speaker 3: other guys have. So he will. He will be a challenge,
- 12:15Speaker 3: and they just are gonna have to keep him him,
- 12:17Speaker 3: keep him in the middle of the field and don't
- 12:19Speaker 3: let him, don't let him create.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Jeffrey, I don't know if you've seen it.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Uh.
- 12:24Speaker 4: If you haven't, great you will. But did you ever
- 12:27Speaker 4: think in your life you would see Hall of Famer
- 12:30Speaker 4: John Elway jump out of a weird costume singing country
- 12:34Speaker 4: music on national television.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Now you know, I get. I can't say that was
- 12:40Speaker 3: on my Bengo card for John. Uh.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It sounds, by the way, Leggy, exactly like you'd expect
- 12:49Speaker 1: it to see.
- 12:49Speaker 4: It's great. It's apless to sound. Hey, LEGGI will let
- 12:52Speaker 4: you go because we want we won't let people hear
- 12:54Speaker 4: what it sounded like. Buddy, I appreciate the insight on
- 12:57Speaker 4: the Broncos.
- 12:58Speaker 3: That's trevendous. Fellow will slay it.
