- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Week one on Sunday was great,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Week two was amazing. Week three, to quote somebody, pretty deep,
- 0:23Speaker 1: pretty good dad. And with that we welcome you almost
- 0:26Speaker 1: a week four. Still have one more game this evening.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Now on a Monday from our newsroom
- 0:31Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Ceciliano. This right
- 0:34Speaker 1: here is Steve White with the Dolphins three and oh,
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Eagles three and oh, and the Giants trying to
- 0:40Speaker 1: get the three and O the scene. How about that,
- 0:41Speaker 1: I mean the undefeated. But the team I'm excited we're
- 0:44Speaker 1: a going to talk about is a team on top
- 0:47Speaker 1: of the a f C South. How about that? We
- 0:50Speaker 1: don't get talked about it. The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the
- 0:53Speaker 1: Chargers on Sunday. More and that coming up in a second.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We're actually gonna open up with Charger news here. At
- 1:00Speaker 1: one point during their lost to the Jaguars yesterday, Tom
- 1:04Speaker 1: Pella Sero Brandon Staley was without five Pro bowlers, one
- 1:09Speaker 1: of which was Rashawn Slater, his left tackle. New details
- 1:13Speaker 1: within the last couple of minutes about the severity of
- 1:15Speaker 1: his injury, Andrew. It is bad news for the Chargers
- 1:18Speaker 1: on their left tackle Rashawn Slater, who I am told
- 1:22Speaker 1: is out for the rest of the season after suffering
- 1:25Speaker 1: a ruptured biceps tendon in that loss yesterday. Store Morton
- 1:30Speaker 1: took over at the left tackle position. He had been
- 1:32Speaker 1: the Chargers right tackle a year ago. But there's really
- 1:35Speaker 1: no replacing a player like Slater, who was one of
- 1:38Speaker 1: the most talented young offensive lineman in the league. They
- 1:40Speaker 1: already were without their center, Corey Lindsley yesterday as well
- 1:44Speaker 1: as he deals with his own knee issue, and this
- 1:47Speaker 1: comes at a time the quarterback Justin Herbert is dealing
- 1:49Speaker 1: with that fractured rib cartilage that did not stop him
- 1:52Speaker 1: from starting and playing the entire game on Sunday, but
- 1:55Speaker 1: an injury Andrew. The coach Brandon Staley said, it is
- 1:58Speaker 1: going to be lingering for a while, alright, So Mashawn
- 2:01Speaker 1: Slater out for the year, torn biceps. You saw him
- 2:03Speaker 1: walking off there with his left arm like this immobilized,
- 2:07Speaker 1: which is never a good sign. And to your point, yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Justin Herbert in the game final a couple of minutes,
- 2:11Speaker 1: they're throwing down twenty eight without his Pro Bowl center
- 2:15Speaker 1: and without his Pro Bowl left tackle. Houston, Cleveland, Denver, Seattle.
- 2:19Speaker 1: The next four games here for Justin Herbert and the Chargers.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Tom Pollo, Sero Backett a little bit, thank you, Tom,
- 2:24Speaker 1: with more news from around the league, more injury. Who's
- 2:26Speaker 1: notably about Mac Jones? How about this classically had yesterday?
- 2:30Speaker 1: The undefeated Bills the undefeated Dolphins, just sweltering conditions in Miami,
- 2:36Speaker 1: end of the second quarter, kind of like the end
- 2:38Speaker 1: of the game. They can't get a playoff Josh Allen
- 2:40Speaker 1: Isaiah Mackenzie and they get enough and he tries to
- 2:43Speaker 1: get to the line, but he fumbled the ball coming
- 2:46Speaker 1: away from center. Eventually has to throw the Stefond Diggs
- 2:48Speaker 1: and the Bills don't get a field goal off here
- 2:52Speaker 1: Steve and we go to the locker room tied at fourteen. Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and that's a frustraction because they're the point differential yet
- 2:57Speaker 1: point differential cute, and the Bills dominated time of possession,
- 3:01Speaker 1: dominated really everything, but with I'm starting members of their
- 3:06Speaker 1: defense out to a tongue of ALOA made some plays.
- 3:09Speaker 1: That was third and twenty two, Jalen Waddle for forty
- 3:13Speaker 1: five and then three plays later, Chase Edmonds and the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Dolphins have a lead. You can dominate the clock. Dolphins
- 3:18Speaker 1: dominated the scoreboard. The Bills would not go away. But
- 3:22Speaker 1: when given the opportunity, when actually Josh Allen had time,
- 3:25Speaker 1: had it row, he couldn't hit Isaiah Mackenzie. That was
- 3:29Speaker 1: on a fourth and goal from the two on the
- 3:30Speaker 1: seven teen play. At the drive, they get two points
- 3:34Speaker 1: on the butt punts. What do you want to call this?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Ain't that a kick in the rear? Uh? That was booty.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So it's twenty one nineteen. Bills get the ball back,
- 3:46Speaker 1: Bills have a shot. The Bills are out of time out,
- 3:49Speaker 1: so again it's Mackenzie. He can't get out of bound.
- 3:52Speaker 1: They gotta get to the line and they have to
- 3:54Speaker 1: spike it to give Tyler Bass a shot at a
- 3:58Speaker 1: field goal, and they know they can't do it. Josh
- 4:04Speaker 1: Allen spikes is how but again instead of spiking the football,
- 4:08Speaker 1: Ken Dorsey spikes his headset, his play sheet, his everything.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It was exhausting, but it's a Dolphins win. It just
- 4:24Speaker 1: goes to show this is why we don't worry about anything.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We've had so many lessons these two three weeks. But
- 4:31Speaker 1: like who's gonna win it for us? Everyone's getting the
- 4:35Speaker 1: game ball for this. We are three and oh, which
- 4:39Speaker 1: was not the goals that we set out, but it's
- 4:42Speaker 1: all we can control right now. Okay, so let's get
- 4:44Speaker 1: back to work tomorrow. But enjoy it tonight. This was
- 4:47Speaker 1: a special one. Fellas they all said you couldn't and
- 4:50Speaker 1: you did. Hey, we're tun said Suner back this week
- 4:55Speaker 1: week tonight. All goals are bigger than just being Bills.
- 4:58Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. We know we want to go.
- 5:00Speaker 1: This is just a step to where we want to go.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's how we compete where they're gonna go. Now, Hie
- 5:07Speaker 1: to the Cam Wolf live in Miami is Cincinnati for
- 5:10Speaker 1: ten f on a short week after that defense, Cam
- 5:13Speaker 1: had to be on the field for ninety plays forty
- 5:16Speaker 1: minutes of Buffalo possession. But as you heard Mike McDaniel said,
- 5:20Speaker 1: they outlasted the Bills. What did we learn about this
- 5:23Speaker 1: three and old team yesterday? Yeah, Andrew, we learned this
- 5:26Speaker 1: is one of the best teams of football so far
- 5:28Speaker 1: this season. I've been at every game they've played, and look,
- 5:31Speaker 1: whatever our expectations are, we should recalibrate them because they
- 5:35Speaker 1: should be considered one of the A f C contenders.
- 5:37Speaker 1: They've won just about every way you can imagine. We
- 5:40Speaker 1: remember last week in Baltimore, they came back that one
- 5:43Speaker 1: point victory to have thrown the ball to Tyreek and Jalen.
- 5:46Speaker 1: This one was about the defense. They blitzed Josh Allen,
- 5:49Speaker 1: they held him the seven team point to spite spite
- 5:51Speaker 1: playing ninety plays. And this was a real complete game
- 5:54Speaker 1: for them as a team. And look after the game,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you just saw guys around the locker room saying, hey,
- 5:59Speaker 1: this is the expectation. Javon Hollands told me that we're fighters.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Don't ever count us out. And I want to start
- 6:05Speaker 1: in with Tah because Tah everything revolves around him. I
- 6:09Speaker 1: remember walking off the field and he's raising his hands
- 6:12Speaker 1: in the air as the as the whole crowd is
- 6:15Speaker 1: yelling his name and cheering him. Coming off the field.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Is a complete turnaround for maybe the off season talk
- 6:21Speaker 1: of can he be this guy? Can he be the
- 6:23Speaker 1: franchise quarterback? I think that question is going outside the window.
- 6:26Speaker 1: He is a Dolphins franchise quarterback. The Dolphins are a
- 6:29Speaker 1: playoff in an f C contender, and this team has
- 6:31Speaker 1: really changed the way we view them going forward. Big
- 6:34Speaker 1: a f C battle against the Bengals coming up. But
- 6:36Speaker 1: the Dolphins they deserve our respect. Okay. I mean, look,
- 6:40Speaker 1: coming in, a lot of people had them. Maybe it's
- 6:42Speaker 1: a wild card team behind Buffalo, and maybe that's how
- 6:44Speaker 1: it ends up. I mean, we're still only three weeks
- 6:47Speaker 1: into a seventeen game season. But what the Dolphins shown
- 6:50Speaker 1: us is the resilience. And we look at the comeback
- 6:52Speaker 1: that they had last week and then they come out.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Sure the Buffalo Bills were down to some players, but
- 6:57Speaker 1: they had to grind this out. The fact that their
- 6:59Speaker 1: defense is on the on the field for more than
- 7:01Speaker 1: ninety plays and they held up like they did. I mean,
- 7:05Speaker 1: that really says a lot about where this team is now.
- 7:08Speaker 1: The catchphrase coming out of this weekend, though I heard
- 7:10Speaker 1: over and over is okay, analty how we do when
- 7:13Speaker 1: we have some adversity, because that diversity is coming from
- 7:15Speaker 1: Miami at some point. They showed it last week. They
- 7:18Speaker 1: showed at times yesterday kind of in game situations. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: Javon Hall, I'm glad you brought him up. There's the
- 7:24Speaker 1: sack of the Forest fumble early on the game that
- 7:26Speaker 1: leads to a quick touchdown. I think that was an
- 7:29Speaker 1: important tone center by the way the Dolphins defense played
- 7:32Speaker 1: the rest of that game, in the way overall the
- 7:34Speaker 1: complimentary football they played again for a threatening Bills team
- 7:38Speaker 1: that had every opportunity to win that game was held out.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And it's not as if Josh Allen didn't make plays.
- 7:47Speaker 1: They had nearly five yards of offense, and sometimes he
- 7:50Speaker 1: did beat the blood. Sometimes he saw where it was
- 7:52Speaker 1: coming from, and they did capitalize, but they couldn't do
- 7:55Speaker 1: it enough, and they couldn't do it in the red zone.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You could get all your yard did you want in
- 7:58Speaker 1: the middle of the field. Coming in, they had outscored
- 8:01Speaker 1: cam The Bills had opponents seventy two to seventeen. They
- 8:04Speaker 1: had won seven consecutive over the Dolphins by an average
- 8:07Speaker 1: of nineteen points a game. Next up, the Bills get
- 8:11Speaker 1: the Ravens. Where do we look at them after this one? Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 1: this doesn't change our outlook of the Bills. They're still
- 8:17Speaker 1: one of the best teams in football, but it does
- 8:19Speaker 1: give a little bit of a wake up call. This
- 8:20Speaker 1: a f c S is not going to be a
- 8:22Speaker 1: cake walk. The Dolphins are gonna be there throughout the
- 8:24Speaker 1: season and Mike McDaniel said it after the game. Look,
- 8:26Speaker 1: if they took us lightly this week, they won't the
- 8:29Speaker 1: next time we play. But the Bills, they dealt with
- 8:31Speaker 1: a lot of injuries. They're gonna get Jordan's fourrier back soon,
- 8:33Speaker 1: They're gonna get some defensive tackles back, and I'm not
- 8:36Speaker 1: worried about them in the long term. There's two things
- 8:38Speaker 1: I am worried about them getting fixed their oh and
- 8:41Speaker 1: seven and once four games dating back to last year.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They have to figure out how to close those games.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And somebody other than Josh Allen has to run the
- 8:48Speaker 1: ball the second time in three games that he has
- 8:50Speaker 1: been their leading rusher. They need to share the share
- 8:53Speaker 1: of the burden with him in the back of the field.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And obviously we will get a Josh Allen to a
- 8:57Speaker 1: tongue of by lower rematch a little bit later in
- 9:00Speaker 1: the season. Thank you, cam Wolf. They're live in Miami
- 9:03Speaker 1: where the Dolphins are three and ohd Now to get
- 9:05Speaker 1: to the to a story you did see this. Matt
- 9:07Speaker 1: Mulano flagged for roughing the passer to a seemingly hits
- 9:11Speaker 1: the ground, his helmet hits the turf, and then as
- 9:15Speaker 1: he goes back to the huddle with the flag down,
- 9:17Speaker 1: he stumbles. He was immediately taken from the game, went
- 9:22Speaker 1: into the locker room, but then re entered the story
- 9:26Speaker 1: now a day later. Ian Rappaport at MetLife Stadium will
- 9:31Speaker 1: get more on Monday night coming up in a second.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Tom pel Sero back with me as well. Tom. The
- 9:36Speaker 1: nfl p A has raised its hand once a little
- 9:38Speaker 1: more information to it went back in the game after
- 9:41Speaker 1: the Dolphins initially announced both in the press box and
- 9:44Speaker 1: on Twitter that Too was being evaluated for a head
- 9:48Speaker 1: injury and his return was questionable. That's right, Andrew, and
- 9:52Speaker 1: that's what the Dolphins initially believed, as many people did
- 9:55Speaker 1: who were watching on TV. The to a Tongue Baloa
- 9:57Speaker 1: had suffered a concussion that caused him to stumble as
- 10:00Speaker 1: he tried to leave the field. However, according to Ta
- 10:03Speaker 1: and the Dolphins, this was actually product of a back injury.
- 10:06Speaker 1: To It described it as a hyper extension that he
- 10:08Speaker 1: had suffered on a quarterback sneak. Then when he took
- 10:11Speaker 1: that other hit that did cause his head to bounce
- 10:14Speaker 1: off the turf. Who has said that the back entirely
- 10:16Speaker 1: locked up and that's why he could not walk. If
- 10:19Speaker 1: you read the NFL n f L p A Concussion Protocol,
- 10:22Speaker 1: one of the items on the checklist is about gross
- 10:25Speaker 1: motor instability, which is a disqualifier for a player to
- 10:28Speaker 1: return to the game if the team physician in consultation
- 10:32Speaker 1: with the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant who's at every NFL game,
- 10:36Speaker 1: determined it is a product and caused by neurological issues.
- 10:41Speaker 1: In this case, the doctors determined it was actually caused
- 10:44Speaker 1: by to his back. However, the NFL p A does
- 10:46Speaker 1: have the right, as do every player and the league itself,
- 10:50Speaker 1: to file a complaint and alleged potential violations of the
- 10:54Speaker 1: concussion protocols. So that's what the union has done here
- 10:57Speaker 1: in the NFL Management Council and the NFL Players Association
- 11:01Speaker 1: now will jointly investigate and render a decision. Yeah, it's
- 11:05Speaker 1: gonna be some time before we figure out and find
- 11:07Speaker 1: out what the results of this decision are. Meanwhile, uh
- 11:10Speaker 1: to Ah, who did show up a post game with
- 11:13Speaker 1: his back tightly wrapped with a bulky uh some sort
- 11:16Speaker 1: of apparatus on his back, certainly too will continue to
- 11:19Speaker 1: play and play through this, and we will monitor how
- 11:21Speaker 1: he's doing the optics. No doubt we're bad. You see
- 11:25Speaker 1: two take a late hit from Matt Milano, his head
- 11:27Speaker 1: banged and the turf gets up wobbly. It all looked
- 11:30Speaker 1: bad in the stadium on TV, and then you find
- 11:33Speaker 1: out later that it's actually a backslash neck injury, more
- 11:36Speaker 1: so that that caused the wobbling. Obviously, it is also
- 11:40Speaker 1: worth noting Tom that it is an independent neurologist and
- 11:44Speaker 1: independent doctors who make the choice of whether or not
- 11:47Speaker 1: too it can return to the field. It's not simply
- 11:48Speaker 1: the Dolphins saying all right, you're good to go. More
- 11:51Speaker 1: information as this comes as the NFL and the NFL
- 11:53Speaker 1: p A now look into it. With a short week
- 11:56Speaker 1: here for the Dolphins, as mentioned, they are back at
- 11:58Speaker 1: it Thursday on the road in Cincinnati on TNF. Meantime,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Tom Um, the Patriots are going to Lambeo. They're facing
- 12:08Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. That is a CBS game
- 12:10Speaker 1: on Sunday afternoon and that late window, and it sounds
- 12:15Speaker 1: as if they're going to have to do it without
- 12:16Speaker 1: mac Jones. What do we know? Glanders Ian and I
- 12:19Speaker 1: reported just a few minutes ago mac Jones did undergo
- 12:22Speaker 1: further test today revealed he has a pretty severe high
- 12:25Speaker 1: ankle sprain that means ligament damage in his ankle. By
- 12:30Speaker 1: and large, these are multiple week types of injuries. Mac
- 12:33Speaker 1: is getting a second opinion, so the timetable is still
- 12:36Speaker 1: to be determined here. The hope I am told is
- 12:40Speaker 1: that he will not need surgery on that ankle, But
- 12:43Speaker 1: hard to imagine that he's going to turn around one
- 12:45Speaker 1: week later and play against the Packers, which means, in
- 12:48Speaker 1: and all likelihood it is going to be the veteran
- 12:51Speaker 1: Brian Hoyer getting the start in that game with rookie
- 12:54Speaker 1: Bailey Zappy servant as the backup. And there's a reason
- 12:57Speaker 1: that Brian Hoyer has stayed on in the NFL, stayed
- 12:59Speaker 1: on with the Patriots. Probably knows this offense as well
- 13:02Speaker 1: as anyone, or maybe even more so considering his incredible
- 13:07Speaker 1: volume of plays that have been in his head for
- 13:09Speaker 1: the last decade or so. So Brian Hoyer certainly a
- 13:12Speaker 1: stable option. When he's done it, it has gone absolutely fine.
- 13:15Speaker 1: It has been a mentor to mac Jones. Also worth
- 13:18Speaker 1: noting Tom where mac Jones comes from Bladed Alabama, That
- 13:22Speaker 1: is where tight rope surgery was popularized. Dr lyle Kine.
- 13:26Speaker 1: The Alabama team position essentially created it UH just to
- 13:29Speaker 1: deal with and accelerate high ankle sprains. Perhaps if mac
- 13:33Speaker 1: Jones does have surgery, that would be what he would
- 13:36Speaker 1: get him would be getting it from one of the
- 13:37Speaker 1: nation's experts as well. All right, then the next four
- 13:40Speaker 1: games for the Patriots at the Packers and then home
- 13:43Speaker 1: for the Lions, then a trip to Cleveland have been
- 13:45Speaker 1: home for the Bears. Brian Hoyer has not started a
- 13:48Speaker 1: game since. He has not led a team to a
- 13:51Speaker 1: victory as a starter since twenty sixteen, when he was
- 13:55Speaker 1: with the Bears Ian Rappaport, Tom Pelaicero with mac Jones
- 14:00Speaker 1: reportedly suffering a pretty severe high ankle sprain. As for
- 14:04Speaker 1: those Ackers, they went to Tampa, they did the job
- 14:08Speaker 1: over Tom Brady and the Bucketeers and hung on for
- 14:10Speaker 1: dear life. The latest from that one in the Battle
- 14:14Speaker 1: of Allegend Goats next, nothing can stop me right, you're
- 14:24Speaker 1: watching NFL now NFL networking at a Battle of the Goats,
- 14:26Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Tampa yesterday Bucks coming in
- 14:30Speaker 1: at two and oh, but they couldn't get the offense
- 14:32Speaker 1: going until finally with fourteen seconds left, Russell Gage takes
- 14:37Speaker 1: a hit, scores a touchdown, and now they need the
- 14:39Speaker 1: two point conversion. But oh no, like man, all right,
- 14:46Speaker 1: so they back up five Steve and they try to
- 14:50Speaker 1: get Gage again, but the Vandre Campbell look at that
- 14:54Speaker 1: knocks it down and the Packers get a win fourteen
- 14:58Speaker 1: to twelve. Both teams played hard, the man, both teams
- 15:01Speaker 1: played hard. You would have said in the off season
- 15:04Speaker 1: we'd be two and one after three. Were these two
- 15:07Speaker 1: tough road games, I'd say that's probably pretty good, you know,
- 15:10Speaker 1: considering that you would expect Minnesota and and Tampa Bay
- 15:14Speaker 1: to be, you know, the top in the top seven
- 15:16Speaker 1: teams at the end of the season. So I feel
- 15:18Speaker 1: good about that. I can always do better. I can
- 15:20Speaker 1: always obviously do better as a quarterback, and yeah, not
- 15:26Speaker 1: let my emotions get the best of me. Sometimes they do.
- 15:28Speaker 1: You know, it's an emotional sport, it's emotional game, um,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and we're all out there trying to do the best
- 15:34Speaker 1: we could do. And you're right, it's I think there's
- 15:36Speaker 1: a frustrating part and for all of us when you
- 15:39Speaker 1: get a little older and you expected a certain way
- 15:41Speaker 1: and it doesn't go exactly the way you want so,
- 15:44Speaker 1: but that's that's it. That's way it is, And um,
- 15:46Speaker 1: you know, I got to do a good job as
- 15:48Speaker 1: a leader to be at my best, you know, regardless
- 15:51Speaker 1: of how I feel about a certain situation. They really
- 15:54Speaker 1: had nothing going high there, Mark Ross, nothing going offensively,
- 15:57Speaker 1: only a couple of field goals, and Brady clearly wasn't
- 16:00Speaker 1: on the same page understandably with a group of wide
- 16:03Speaker 1: receivers he had hardly practice with, say, other than Darden
- 16:06Speaker 1: or Gauge or Scottie. But at the end, Mark, it's
- 16:10Speaker 1: the delay of game that stands out now. Bucketeers Twitter
- 16:16Speaker 1: says that the play clock was only twenty and that
- 16:19Speaker 1: it should have been obviously and that that's why there
- 16:22Speaker 1: was a delay. Todd Bowles moments ago said they're looking
- 16:26Speaker 1: into it, but either way you can see the clock. Mark. Yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 1: just inexcusable for Tom Brady. You know, it's not a
- 16:33Speaker 1: rookie quarterback, second year guy. You just don't expect that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And you saw so many times with Tom Brady coming back,
- 16:39Speaker 1: you just expected him to go tie that game up there.
- 16:42Speaker 1: But it shouldn't have come down to that. And what
- 16:45Speaker 1: you really saw yesterday was that green Bay was not
- 16:48Speaker 1: afraid of that Tampa Bay offense and they really smothered him.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Really a defensive side, both sides. Tampa Bay's defense played
- 16:54Speaker 1: out of their minds as well. But the encouraging thing
- 16:57Speaker 1: for Tampa is that they know that Julio Jones is
- 17:01Speaker 1: coming back. They know that Mike Evans is coming back,
- 17:04Speaker 1: they know that Chris god When is coming back at
- 17:06Speaker 1: some point, and most importantly that Donovan Smith is coming back.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Because that young man yesterday left tackle. I mean he
- 17:12Speaker 1: struggled even on that two point conversion, Blush Brady out
- 17:16Speaker 1: of there, which got him off his spot. Devandre Campbell
- 17:19Speaker 1: made a great play, but there was two other defenders
- 17:21Speaker 1: there as well. That ball wouldn't have gotten in there.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So that is the encouraging side. On the flip side,
- 17:26Speaker 1: Green Bay's offense that got smothered by Tampa. This is
- 17:30Speaker 1: the crew they have to roll with the rest of
- 17:32Speaker 1: the year. Romeo Dobbs, the rookie, had an outstanding game.
- 17:35Speaker 1: But is that going to be enough for Green Bay?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Will those young guys get better? Christian Watson we didn't
- 17:42Speaker 1: see at all. Randall Coled made a big play. So
- 17:45Speaker 1: when I'm comparing both teams. Green Bay kind of this
- 17:48Speaker 1: is the team they have to work with, whereas Tampa
- 17:50Speaker 1: the encouraging sign is we got all these Pro Bowl
- 17:53Speaker 1: guys coming back in receiver and more importantly the offensive line.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But what a battle. We'll see how it plays out.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I expect to see both of these teams at the end,
- 18:02Speaker 1: Steve and Mark. This is why I hope they meet again.
- 18:04Speaker 1: What you just said about the receiving corp because both
- 18:06Speaker 1: of these quarterbacks came into this game with one hand
- 18:09Speaker 1: tied behind their back, so to speak. Because you had
- 18:11Speaker 1: the young world wide receivers in developing wide receivers for
- 18:14Speaker 1: Green Bay, the injuries and suspension for Tampa Bay. So
- 18:17Speaker 1: both teams knew this was going to be a ground
- 18:19Speaker 1: center game. And that's why these very good defense has
- 18:22Speaker 1: played so stout and there was not much offense to
- 18:25Speaker 1: be found in this game. So hopefully by the end
- 18:27Speaker 1: of the season. You talk about the Buccaneers receivers getting
- 18:30Speaker 1: healthy and getting Mike Evans back from the suspension, and
- 18:33Speaker 1: you would think that the Green Bay receivers will evolve.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I mean, they tend to do that historically, So if
- 18:37Speaker 1: they meet in the playoffs, we can see these two
- 18:40Speaker 1: gold quarterbacks played the game we had hoped to see,
- 18:42Speaker 1: but the game we should have expected to see out
- 18:45Speaker 1: of them yesterday, because again they were so limited offensively,
- 18:48Speaker 1: and he was piecing it together with Jalen Darden. Brady
- 18:51Speaker 1: was with Scottie Miller and with Russell Gage, who obviously
- 18:55Speaker 1: signed a big free agent contract in the off season.
- 18:57Speaker 1: They expect him to be a contributor. But Cole Beasley
- 18:59Speaker 1: signed on Wednesday. He was out there taking meaningful snaps
- 19:03Speaker 1: on Sunday. But there is a reason with all those
- 19:05Speaker 1: injuries that the Bucketeers are tied for the most false
- 19:08Speaker 1: starts in the NFL, with Tom Brady a quarterback with
- 19:11Speaker 1: seven offensive line issues as well, they have to delayed
- 19:14Speaker 1: games as well, that the second most in the NFL.
- 19:17Speaker 1: They are trying to cobble it together and sometimes it
- 19:20Speaker 1: works and sometimes it doesn't. Tom Brady can't magically make
- 19:24Speaker 1: everything work. He can't throw the ball and catch the
- 19:27Speaker 1: ball at the same time. As somebody once said, thank
- 19:28Speaker 1: you Mark Ross, thank you Steve White. As we continue
- 19:32Speaker 1: the edition of NFL now, I thought the Chiefs, you know,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I thought the Chiefs are got to go to three
- 19:39Speaker 1: and oh, Patrick mahomeskin throat and catch it at the
- 19:41Speaker 1: same time. Either what happened there? James Palmer was there,
- 19:46Speaker 1: He'll tell you coming up next man, Matt Ryan of
- 19:54Speaker 1: the Colts needed this one. You didn't think they were
- 19:56Speaker 1: going to beat the Chiefs, did you. They're down four
- 19:59Speaker 1: with twenty five seconds to go. When geel Lottie Woods
- 20:03Speaker 1: scores his second touched out of the game, the second
- 20:06Speaker 1: up his career. Everyone is happy in the Colts up
- 20:08Speaker 1: twenty a seventeen, but Patrick's Mahomes still has a shot
- 20:11Speaker 1: even of the backup kicker, until he doesn't. It gets
- 20:15Speaker 1: picked off by Rodney McCloud. Nice place to find, Gilmore. Yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 1: every buddy. Chiefs get their first loss, Colts get their
- 20:23Speaker 1: first win. We just didn't play good enough, especially on
- 20:27Speaker 1: the offensive side of the ball. Uh, starting with me
- 20:30Speaker 1: Um Obviously we we we missed some kicks and stuff
- 20:34Speaker 1: like that. But at the end of the day, we
- 20:36Speaker 1: we had multiple opportunities to score. So, I mean, we
- 20:39Speaker 1: got to find ways to get the ball in the
- 20:40Speaker 1: end zone, and that starts with me. Can't just get yards.
- 20:43Speaker 1: We gotta be able to get in the end zone
- 20:44Speaker 1: when we're down there. We had a really good mindset
- 20:46Speaker 1: all week. We still have a lot of things to
- 20:48Speaker 1: clean up, in a lot of room for improvement, but
- 20:51Speaker 1: we're excited to come out and get the job done.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Mahomes said, Hither James Palmer, you were there, now you're
- 20:57Speaker 1: back at home. Thanks for hustling and being here. He said.
- 20:59Speaker 1: He missed some kicks. They missed an extra point, Matt
- 21:01Speaker 1: Amendola did. They also had a fake field goal. They
- 21:04Speaker 1: all had an argument between the enemy and Mahomes at
- 21:07Speaker 1: the end of the second quarter. There's a lot going
- 21:09Speaker 1: on there. But give the Colts defense some credit. After
- 21:14Speaker 1: Andrew and and you know what, the Colts were very
- 21:16Speaker 1: happy with their game plan. But when I went into
- 21:18Speaker 1: the Chiefs locker room and talk to some guys in
- 21:20Speaker 1: that offensive side of the ball, they admitted that Gus Bradley,
- 21:23Speaker 1: the Colts defensive coordinator, had a very good game plan.
- 21:25Speaker 1: When I talked to Colts star quarterbacks to find Gilmore,
- 21:28Speaker 1: he told me, really, it was all about having really
- 21:30Speaker 1: tight coverage and allowing our pass rush to get home
- 21:33Speaker 1: and disguising a lot of things up front, and that's
- 21:35Speaker 1: what they were able to do. I talked to Unique
- 21:37Speaker 1: and got way He said, really, what we were able
- 21:39Speaker 1: to do is confuse that offensive line. And then when
- 21:41Speaker 1: I talked to Andrew Wiley, a part of that offensive line,
- 21:44Speaker 1: he said, they really waited until they started playing games
- 21:47Speaker 1: up front to confuse us. It was something we really
- 21:49Speaker 1: didn't expect. We prepared for everything, but they kind of
- 21:51Speaker 1: caught us off guard, and they were able to be
- 21:53Speaker 1: on top of Patrick Mahomes when he was trying to
- 21:55Speaker 1: make a lot of these throws, make him hold onto
- 21:57Speaker 1: the football and try to extend and make plays. And
- 21:59Speaker 1: that's what's interesting about this Chief's offense through these first
- 22:03Speaker 1: three games right now. If you look at the stats
- 22:05Speaker 1: Andrew compared to the rest of his career, Patrick Mahomes
- 22:09Speaker 1: is throwing it quicker, he's throwing it shorter, he's throwing
- 22:12Speaker 1: it into tighter windows at a higher percentage, and his
- 22:14Speaker 1: receivers are creating a smaller amount of separation than any
- 22:18Speaker 1: other time before. Andy Reid said that the issue is hits,
- 22:22Speaker 1: that he's not getting them into a rhythm offensively. Mahomes
- 22:25Speaker 1: also admitted he doesn't want to say there's growing pains,
- 22:27Speaker 1: but there are just a little bit off in some
- 22:29Speaker 1: of these throws. But the glaring thing after this game,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Andrew was kind of for the first time with Andy
- 22:35Speaker 1: Reid and Patrick Mahomes, you see maybe a lack of
- 22:39Speaker 1: aggressiveness offensively. And here's some of the misfuse that they had.
- 22:42Speaker 1: A lot of them were on special teams, and a
- 22:44Speaker 1: lack of maybe trust in that offense. When they go
- 22:48Speaker 1: for a field goal and settle for a field goal
- 22:50Speaker 1: from the two yard line, they run a fake field
- 22:52Speaker 1: goal instead of having Mahomes on the field, and then
- 22:54Speaker 1: the argument between or they won't want to say it
- 22:56Speaker 1: was an argument between Eric the enemy and Patrick Mahomes,
- 22:59Speaker 1: was because Mahomes wanted to be aggressive at the end
- 23:01Speaker 1: of the half and the coaching staff did not want
- 23:04Speaker 1: to be aggressive at the end of the half. These
- 23:05Speaker 1: are just things we haven't seen within this Chief's offense
- 23:09Speaker 1: with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes running it so well
- 23:12Speaker 1: over the last couple of weeks. You can call it
- 23:15Speaker 1: an argument, you can call it an animated conversation. Whatever
- 23:18Speaker 1: it was, everybody saw it after the Chiefs of the
- 23:22Speaker 1: Chiefs off installed at the end of the second quarter
- 23:24Speaker 1: didn't really push it down field. They had words. Andy
- 23:28Speaker 1: Reid stepped in between his quarterback and his o C
- 23:31Speaker 1: and then everyone went to the locker room. They still
- 23:33Speaker 1: had an entire second half though, and obviously they didn't
- 23:36Speaker 1: make enough plays and they lose to Indianapolis. Colts get
- 23:39Speaker 1: a much needed win. Thank you, James Palmer. There live
- 23:43Speaker 1: after Indie saves its season at least for a week.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Carson went for the very first time facing Fletcher Cox
- 23:50Speaker 1: and his old Philadelphia teammates, and wow was this ugly?
- 23:55Speaker 1: What if I told you like four sacks in the
- 23:57Speaker 1: first quarter, six before the half, nine sacks overall of
- 24:03Speaker 1: Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts turned another masterful performance. Here's
- 24:08Speaker 1: a touchdown to a j bright I. Jalen Hurts his
- 24:11Speaker 1: numbers just from the first half of the first three weeks,
- 24:14Speaker 1: he'd be a pro bowler and about Vante spent. Look
- 24:16Speaker 1: at this catch after an afterrobatic catch to get him
- 24:19Speaker 1: down A couple of players earlier inside the five yard line.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You can flex because they're flexing. Twenty four to eight,
- 24:26Speaker 1: the Eagles are three, and oh, Jalen Hurts his batman
- 24:30Speaker 1: and he also talked to Olmar Louise. Jalen Hurt, you
- 24:34Speaker 1: did nothing today to slow down any of that m
- 24:36Speaker 1: v P type of talk. How are you guys so
- 24:39Speaker 1: clicking today with that offense? Yeah, man, we just wanted
- 24:41Speaker 1: to come out. We really started fast, um, really started fast,
- 24:44Speaker 1: execute it well in the first half. I'm very disappointed
- 24:47Speaker 1: about how we play in the second half. But our
- 24:49Speaker 1: defense played the asshole. You know I when they played
- 24:52Speaker 1: the assho um, it took command of the game. You
- 24:55Speaker 1: mentioned the defense nine sacks today, they're all over Carson.
- 24:59Speaker 1: What more can you say about their effort tonight? Knowing
- 25:02Speaker 1: how how much they were looking forward to going against
- 25:04Speaker 1: Carson for the time and I'll tell them and I
- 25:08Speaker 1: for the second half in the way that they played
- 25:09Speaker 1: the second have and on the office. Execute um. But
- 25:12Speaker 1: a great team win able to get up Earlyie and
- 25:15Speaker 1: the defense play the ass off and are ready to
- 25:17Speaker 1: maintain it. You gotta clean up some stuff so we
- 25:18Speaker 1: could finish the long or not the team we want
- 25:20Speaker 1: to be right now, but we're working towards the team
- 25:22Speaker 1: you want to be sure. So the Eagles are three
- 25:25Speaker 1: and oh a top the NFC East. Can the New
- 25:28Speaker 1: York Giants, kicking at Old School wearing all white with
- 25:32Speaker 1: the throwback helmets, matched the Eagles at three and Oh,
- 25:36Speaker 1: tonight they get the Dallas Cowboys to wrap up Week
- 25:40Speaker 1: number three. Jane Slater live with us now at matt
- 25:44Speaker 1: Life with a preview high there Jane, and some roster
- 25:47Speaker 1: shuffling here for the Cowboys. What do we know too
- 25:50Speaker 1: big returns expected tonight, Andrew. I'm talking about edge rushers
- 25:54Speaker 1: as these Ogilar and of course Cavon Thibodeaux. They're a
- 25:57Speaker 1: rookie first round pick, both injured in the preseason. And
- 26:00Speaker 1: what's exciting about this, we're at least the players on
- 26:03Speaker 1: the defensive side of the ball. Talking to stay at
- 26:05Speaker 1: Davier McKinney this week, he said he loves getting the
- 26:08Speaker 1: playbook in the game plan. We Martin del has really
- 26:10Speaker 1: been mixing it up, and I think that's what's been
- 26:12Speaker 1: such a challenge for these teams that have faced him.
- 26:15Speaker 1: In the first two games this season. Wink has showed
- 26:17Speaker 1: you a six dB front, He's showed you safeties in
- 26:20Speaker 1: the box, and now you're adding these two pass rushers.
- 26:23Speaker 1: It's gonna make it really challenging for the Cowboys because,
- 26:26Speaker 1: as I mentioned earlier, they're not gonna have some of
- 26:29Speaker 1: those offensive threats that they thought they were gonna have. Today,
- 26:32Speaker 1: Michael Gallup is not expected to play at this game
- 26:34Speaker 1: after he was trending in that direction, and Tighten Dalton
- 26:37Speaker 1: Schultz is looking like a game time decision. So they'll
- 26:40Speaker 1: literally have to rely heavily on their run game if
- 26:42Speaker 1: they want to get something done. Made a little bit
- 26:44Speaker 1: tougher tonight with the addition of those two edge rushers. Yeah,
- 26:47Speaker 1: how important is the run game for both Jane Really,
- 26:50Speaker 1: of these teams, sa Kwon Barkley has been great, especially
- 26:54Speaker 1: in the second half. He has been looking really, really
- 26:57Speaker 1: good this season, and yeah, that's gonna be a challenge
- 27:00Speaker 1: for the Cowboys. And interestingly enough, Xavier McKinney played at
- 27:04Speaker 1: Alabama long with Trayvon Diggs and I said, are you
- 27:07Speaker 1: coaching up this team at all when you talk about
- 27:10Speaker 1: how you come back? And he said yes, And of
- 27:12Speaker 1: course he wasn't going to give me what some of
- 27:13Speaker 1: those tendencies and answers were, but they at least have
- 27:16Speaker 1: an idea of what to look for. As for the Cowboys,
- 27:19Speaker 1: they really tried to commit to the run last week,
- 27:21Speaker 1: and at least they were able to do that, scoring
- 27:23Speaker 1: on their first two drives. Because of that commitment to
- 27:26Speaker 1: the run, they had twelve plays in that opening drive.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Six of those were runs. Expect them to do more
- 27:30Speaker 1: of that tonight, particularly when you consider teams now have
- 27:33Speaker 1: a little bit more on more tape on Noah Brown,
- 27:35Speaker 1: who showed us a pretty solid game last week for
- 27:37Speaker 1: the Cowboys. Another start for Cooper Rush. Cowboys have one
- 27:41Speaker 1: nine out of ten the last five years over the Giants,
- 27:44Speaker 1: including two they swept him last year. Jane Slater Live,
- 27:49Speaker 1: Thank you. Jane met Life Stadium had a Monday night
- 27:52Speaker 1: football to close out Week three. We have a game
- 27:55Speaker 1: in London Week four. The Vikings and the Saints were
- 27:59Speaker 1: heading over there. Coming up next. Stacy Dale's talks to
- 28:02Speaker 1: mark Ingram. You're watching NFL Now on NFL Network, alright,
- 28:12Speaker 1: Lions Vikings. Dan Campbell aggressive the entire game on fourth
- 28:16Speaker 1: down until one fourteen to go. He decided to bring
- 28:21Speaker 1: Austin Cybered out for the fifty four yard google he
- 28:24Speaker 1: had missed from earlier fifty four He's also got a miss. Afterwards,
- 28:29Speaker 1: Campbell said he regretted that decision. It gave Kirk Cousins
- 28:33Speaker 1: a shot and he took it. He took it at
- 28:37Speaker 1: KGI Osborne for a game winning touchdown and the Vikings
- 28:40Speaker 1: win there two in one four and now they're going
- 28:45Speaker 1: to London matter of factor. Already there they're playing at
- 28:48Speaker 1: early morning game Eastern against mark Ingram and the New
- 28:54Speaker 1: Orleans Saint. Say there's Stacy Dale's Mr. Ten thousand scrimmage
- 29:01Speaker 1: yards and counting mark Ingram running back for these Saints.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Here you are in London and you're one in to
- 29:07Speaker 1: mark but dealvanizing week would you say for your team? Listen,
- 29:11Speaker 1: we're here on a business trip. Um, obviously yesterday you
- 29:16Speaker 1: know it was a tough one. But um, we're here
- 29:19Speaker 1: to improve, We're here to get better. We watched the film.
- 29:21Speaker 1: We had a great team meeting. Um, nobody's having thin skin,
- 29:24Speaker 1: everyone's taking accountability. Um, it's a big team. It's a
- 29:27Speaker 1: little me. It's about the team. And I think we're
- 29:31Speaker 1: have the right mindset, the right guys on the team,
- 29:33Speaker 1: both character guys, both on the field and off the field. That, Um,
- 29:39Speaker 1: we can get this thing pulled together and going on
- 29:40Speaker 1: the right way. So being out here in London together, um,
- 29:43Speaker 1: while we have is each other, you know what I mean.
- 29:45Speaker 1: So we'll enjoy each other, we'll grow close to each other. Um,
- 29:48Speaker 1: we'll love on each other, encourage each other, and we'll
- 29:51Speaker 1: get this thing going in the right way. I love
- 29:52Speaker 1: that big team, little me. What does specifically this football
- 29:56Speaker 1: team need Because you've been on so many good ones, Mark,
- 29:59Speaker 1: and there's so much talent on this roster. We just
- 30:02Speaker 1: got to execute. I mean, we have so much talent,
- 30:04Speaker 1: We have so many guys that have played and done
- 30:06Speaker 1: this at the highest level. UM, and we we we
- 30:10Speaker 1: have confidence in each other. We just gotta go out
- 30:12Speaker 1: there and execute that. That's what it's coming down to. UM.
- 30:15Speaker 1: You gotta learn what get you beat before you can
- 30:17Speaker 1: learn to win. You gotta stop doing those things that
- 30:19Speaker 1: can get you beat. And UM, you know, turn the
- 30:21Speaker 1: ball over, penalties, UM, allowing big plays, not generated big plays. UM.
- 30:27Speaker 1: You know, offense, defense, special teams, all those things are
- 30:29Speaker 1: so crucial, so critical. UM. Every play holds his own,
- 30:33Speaker 1: you know, way in significance. But you never know what
- 30:36Speaker 1: play is going to change the game, what play is
- 30:38Speaker 1: gonna determine the outcome of a game. So you have
- 30:40Speaker 1: to approach every single, every single play like it's the
- 30:43Speaker 1: most important play because it is. And I know your
- 30:45Speaker 1: quarterback Jamis does that. Where is his mind as you
- 30:49Speaker 1: guys enter into week four and start of keeping it
- 30:52Speaker 1: in house. What's the belief in your quarterback? Man? We
- 30:55Speaker 1: love Jamis Man. He's our guy. Um. He has all
- 30:58Speaker 1: the tools needed to be able to, you know, lead
- 31:01Speaker 1: a team to a championship, lead the team to wins,
- 31:04Speaker 1: lead a team to y threes. And we have the
- 31:06Speaker 1: most confidence in him man. The way he prepares, um,
- 31:09Speaker 1: the way he leaves the team. We all have his
- 31:11Speaker 1: back and we all want to play well. Protect him
- 31:14Speaker 1: so he's not getting his so he can deliver the
- 31:16Speaker 1: ball and so we so he can manage the game
- 31:18Speaker 1: the way. You know, we know that he knows how
- 31:20Speaker 1: to do. So we gotta protect him, We gotta protect
- 31:23Speaker 1: each other. And we just all got to continue to
- 31:24Speaker 1: prove and get better and execute our job to the foolish.
- 31:26Speaker 1: And I just kind of know you love London, right,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I mean what would a dub in London mean for
- 31:31Speaker 1: you and this team? Hey, we want to know in
- 31:32Speaker 1: London already since you know we came here in seventeen
- 31:35Speaker 1: got the dub. So um, you know, London, give us
- 31:39Speaker 1: that good love, give us that good mojo so we
- 31:41Speaker 1: can get the win and go back home and get
- 31:42Speaker 1: and get a street going we love you. Thanks for
- 31:44Speaker 1: joining us, thank you, thanks for having me. NFL Now
