- 1:14one is that I do the Market, but those podcasts is to inspire
- 1:19people where people can hear of people telling their story
- 1:23because there's so many people out there in the world to have
- 1:28stories that afraid to tell their story or they are ashamed
- 1:32to tell their story or they don't think that their store is
- 1:35enough to empower other people, but you never know what your
- 1:39story might do for one another. So if you want to have a story
- 1:44and and you think you might be interested in being a guest on
- 1:48my podcast, reach out to me, my email address is women, majoring
- 1:53in marriage at gmail.com and I believe I told you how to wrong
- 1:59email. I have so many male it is is the

- 2:27The marriage major is all about women that I'm majoring in
- 2:32Mary's, those women that are in their marriage but not want,
- 2:37surviving marriage want to thrive in marriage.
- 2:40It's for those women that are in their season of waiting those
- 2:45That desire husband, waiting on God, to send that husband.
- 2:48And then also those that are engaged that want to better
- 2:52engage, but want to prepare for being a wife before preparing
- 2:57for that big wedding date. And lastly, you might not be one
- 3:01that wanted her husband praying for her husband, got her
- 3:04husband, or whatever. But this podcast, some kind of
- 3:08way can inspire all of us as women.
- 3:13So I want you all to sit back. As I introduce my guest my guess
- 3:17is special guest she is the mother to a my nephew's.
- 3:23So I do know her and she reached out she has a very powerful
- 3:28store and I admire her for not sitting on her store.
- 3:32I my anybody that have a store and willing to share their story
- 3:37and so I am so proud of her. Her name is Sabrina Parker.
- 3:42She's from California. She has two sons and two
- 3:47granddaughter. She plans to write a book.
- 3:51Now that y'all know that that that that that's number one with
- 3:55me because everybody, you know, sometimes we sit on our dreams,
- 3:59I'll go aspiration and like dr. Myles Munroe State, don't take
- 4:04your dreams and goes to the Grave.
- 4:06So I'm going to stay on her about that book right now.
- 4:15So she plans to write a book and tell her story.
- 4:21She shared her story around different platforms.
- 4:26She's reaching out to talk shows out there where she would be
- 4:30able to tell her story and I'm sure with these podcast because
- 4:35I'm seeing how my podcast is really one and in other
- 4:40countries, that is that's awesome.
- 4:42Not not any glory to me, none whatsoever because I never
- 4:48thought about a podcast. I'm in a coaching class in and I
- 4:52coached place sometime we need Some Madrid pushed us and I took
- 4:57out of our comfort zone and that's how I got out of my
- 5:00comfort zone with my book. And then the next thing was
- 5:05doing the podcast and I thoroughly have enjoyed it.
- 5:07I have met people that I never known Sabrina and my sister are
- 5:12the only two persons. Let me think the only two person
- 5:16they have been interviewed on my pockets that I have personally
- 5:19met in person. Other people have reached out to
- 5:22me, other people have it. Stores and they wanted to share
- 5:26them. So I know this, I know Sabrina,
- 5:29you you this podcast will get out and Inspire and be inspired
- 5:37with this, this particular podcast.
- 5:41We'll be out on while we record early.
- 5:45So it'll be out on Wednesday. The I think the 22nd I think
- 5:51that's the 22nd, the fourth Winston, the 22nd, but the name
- 5:55of her interview, the wood she title her interview and I asked,
- 6:00what would you like your interview to be title?
- 6:03She said walking by faith walking by faith Sabrina.
- 6:09I just want to thank you. You thank you for being a part
- 6:13of this podcast. I thank you for being willing to
- 6:17share your story with my audience here and hopefully
- 6:21people will be reaching out to you.
- 6:23That's the main goal, that's what it's all about.
- 6:26Is not all about us, you know, it's not about a but it's about
- 6:29what God is doing in these. Last days what he is doing, and
- 6:35inspiring and encouraging, people encouraging people.
- 6:39So to bring, I'm going to turn it over.
- 6:41Over to you. I want you to start telling you
- 6:43a story. I I didn't even mention what you
- 6:49have been through, I started to but I'm let you tell your story
- 6:54and if you could just take us back to 2019, okay?
- 7:00Okay. Yeah, so my name is Sabrina
- 7:03Parker and thank you for having me on your show on the podcast
- 7:08but I wanted to just start off by thanking God.
- 7:11For letting me be here today in 2019, was that word?
- 7:17And I start feeling habitations in my heart and it just kept
- 7:24going on and on and on. And I said, wait a minute.
- 7:28Something that's not right. So when I just want to get out
- 7:32there, when something's not, right?
- 7:34Don't just sit on it. Go get it checked out.
- 7:37So I went to Urgent here. Urgent Care.
- 7:41Me to e.r. in from there. They told me that I was having
- 7:46heart problems. Had no idea had not been
- 7:51diagnosed as a child with any heart problems.
- 7:53I didn't even know that I had a heart problem.
- 7:56So they told me that maybe it's just stress, they started doing
- 8:00different type of tests and no one can find out what was wrong
- 8:05with me. So I start going to get a second
- 8:07opinion. Went to one.
- 8:11Is and he was stating that I needed a heart valve replacement
- 8:16and then he wanted wanted me to go.
- 8:18See a surgeon went to that surgeon.
- 8:21He told me if I had the heart valve replacement that I would
- 8:25die on the table, for those who don't know, is called injection
- 8:31fraction. So the injection fraction tells
- 8:34you how your heart is doing. So your normal injection
- 8:39fraction should be T, and above mice was 18.
- 8:44So he told me if he did surgery with make it, so he asked me,
- 8:51how did you even walk in here? He said, because of your
- 8:54injection. Fraction is only 18.
- 8:57You should be on oxygen and I said what, you know, so I had my
- 9:02son with me, my sister with me and basically to hear a doctor
- 9:08say that you're going to die on the table.
- 9:10If Try to do a valve replacement, it was just
- 9:14heartbreaking. So I said, okay, what do we do
- 9:16from here? So, he said, the only thing you
- 9:20can do right now is try to get. Try to do another surgery in to
- 9:28try to see if that would help you, and he just kept, you know,
- 9:32pretty much. He was just telling me that
- 9:34there was no hope for me. So, I went home and this took
- 9:40about About a year. This was me going from different
- 9:43doctors of the 2019. I just good kept warm from
- 9:47different doctors. Different doctors.
- 9:49And I was just frustrated crying.
- 9:52You know, my mother would just tell me to look to the Lord,
- 9:56just have faith. God will, you know, he will see
- 9:59you through. I would just be on a computer
- 10:01research and research and research.
- 10:03And so now we're in 2020 2020. I had passed out.
- 10:11I was driving and just so happened.
- 10:14I pulled over and I was on the phone with my sister and I said
- 10:18I don't feel, right? So once I told her that, I just
- 10:22admitted me passed out in the car, and I woke up and I was
- 10:26like, oh my God, what happened to me?
- 10:28And my heart had. I had put, they have put a
- 10:31defibrillator in me in my heart. If the defibrillator has shocked
- 10:36me and I have passed out So from there, it was just getting worse
- 10:42for me, and I just kept going from Doctor to doctor to doctor
- 10:45nobody to find out what was wrong with me.
- 10:48So, I end up when I call my son, now, when 2020, I said, mom's
- 10:55dying. You have to get me to UCLA and
- 10:58mind you. If you live in California, you
- 11:01still lay is a hospital. That's is well-known, but it's
- 11:08really Really far from, you know, most people because you
- 11:11have to get on the 405, freeway bumper-to-bumper traffic.
- 11:14So each time you go it's about a two-hour drive.
- 11:18So we got on the freeway and that's not even mine Stein
- 11:21hospital because my assigned hospital was out closer to where
- 11:26I am, I don't want to mention hospitals but this assign
- 11:31Hospital wasn't my assign hospital.
- 11:34So usually when it's not your assigned hospital, they
- 11:38Stabilize you and they send you back to your hospital.
- 11:41But since with God and in in charge of everything, they end
- 11:48up keeping me. And once they kept me, they
- 11:51start running tests and they did a biopsy of my heart.
- 11:56They did all types of tests and they said that I needed a heart
- 12:02and I still what. And they said in order for you
- 12:05to live, you're gonna need a, you going to need a heart.
- 12:08Art in this was in 2020. So my mother came to the
- 12:14hospital and she said, look, she said I pray for you and we're
- 12:19going to walk by faith. Your dad died with his heart,
- 12:24your brother died with his heart, your sister died with her
- 12:28heart and you're going to die with yours.
- 12:30And nobody is cutting out my daughter's heart and taking out
- 12:33her heart, because we need to walk by faith.
- 12:36And I looked at my mom, I said, okay, so I end up checking, you
- 12:42know, telling them, I'm not going to get a heart.
- 12:44So I end up leaving, and for two years, I didn't, the heart was
- 12:50getting better, the number start looking better.
- 12:53But then in 2022, I took a turn for the worst and my mother.
- 13:00She died April of 20, 20 22 and then September of 22.
- 13:09I took a turn for the worst and I was at the hospital I was at a
- 13:14doctors appointment actually and I wasn't feeling well.
- 13:18So they told me to go to, ER, I went to the, ER, and they said,
- 13:23your heart's not doing good. We going to have to admit you
- 13:26and they still didn't know what was wrong with my heart.
- 13:30So once they admitted me, my defibrillator shocked me seven
- 13:34times in 20 minutes. In once, it shocked me seven
- 13:39times in 20 minutes, it's it feel like like a mule is running
- 13:45really fast and it's just boomed and it's just, you know, and I
- 13:49was just oh my God. Oh my God, I would just talk to
- 13:53God. I would just have faith and I
- 13:55said, Lord if you ready for me, I know that I'm a bow and I will
- 13:59be with you and if you're not ready for me, IMA need you.
- 14:03So there would I didn't have anything to lose.
- 14:06So The nurses start praying, they started crying, because
- 14:12they said, I was getting ready to have a stroke and it was my
- 14:17defibrillator just wouldn't stop going off.
- 14:20So they end up calling UCLA hospital and they had to
- 14:25transport me and put me in critical care, so I was in
- 14:28critical care in. I kept going into what is called
- 14:34beef tag, which is it puts you Into cardiac arrest.
- 14:38So your normal heart rate is 60 to 100 miles was at 2:44.
- 14:46So my heart pretty much was just gonna explode and just give out.
- 14:51Well, they told me the only thing that I could do is they
- 14:55would have to list me for a transplant or I was going to
- 14:59die. So at that time I had the
- 15:01choose. Do you want to live or do you
- 15:04want to die and I chose to live? So I still will.
- 15:09How long is it going to take to get to the heart?
- 15:11And he said, well, we don't know about maybe four months, six
- 15:15months. I knew in my heart that I didn't
- 15:18have for six months because my heart was given out.
- 15:23So that was the one that was on a Friday.
- 15:26When I got listed in my friends, came to the hospital on Saturday
- 15:33and I was trying to stay alive just You know, trying to just be
- 15:42just be really grateful and just trying to have, you know, just
- 15:47trying to be really, really upbeat installing heard the
- 15:52helicopter and the helicopter was when the helicopter came.
- 16:00I told my friend, did you hear that helicopter?
- 16:02And she said, yes. And I said, I want just that a
- 16:05heart for me. And then she said, you think I
- 16:09said, probably not in. So, within 30 minutes, I got a
- 16:13call and they said, Miss Parker. What are you doing?
- 16:16I said trying to stay alive and they said, well, don't eat
- 16:20anything else because of heart came free.
- 16:23Wow. Yeah.
- 16:25That quick that quit. So I just started crying
- 16:29rejoicing in the Lord and I was just so flabbergasted that, you
- 16:38know, that a heart came as fast. So the surgeons came in and they
- 16:42said, well, you need to thank your parents for your blood type
- 16:46because most people that's waiting.
- 16:49They have blood type O and I didn't even know this.
- 16:52So blood type, O is the blood type where you, wait the longest
- 16:58for a heart and I have blood type.
- 17:04Positive. So they told me that I needed to
- 17:07thank my parents for my blood type when I said, no, I think my
- 17:11heavenly father for my blood type, mmm, the next morning,
- 17:16which was on a Sunday. I was in surgery and I have my
- 17:20heart transplant. Wow.
- 17:24Hello, how long were you in surgery?
- 17:26I was in surgery for a total of 11 hours, and when I got out of
- 17:32surgery, They would trying to give me because I was on a
- 17:37ventilator and that was pretty tough and they were trying to
- 17:41give me Oxy Cotton different type of medications than when
- 17:46the anesthesia wore off that it was going to be I was going to
- 17:50be in so much pain to this day. I'm still waiting for the pain.
- 17:54I never had not one pain in my chest and I know that's nothing
- 17:58but Jesus. Wow.
- 18:00So I'm just here to tell people do not give Have no matter what
- 18:05you're going through in life, whether it's Health, whether
- 18:08it's, you know, it can be family husband, why?
- 18:11So, whatever, don't give up on Jesus, because he's the one
- 18:15that's in control. He's the one that you look to,
- 18:20he's the one you have to walk by faith because if you don't walk
- 18:23by faith you don't have anything.
- 18:26Yes. Yes I read something.
- 18:29I think it was in on the interview thing where you stated
- 18:32that you was in the hospital. Little for a month.
- 18:35Yes, I was in the hospital for a month after the, after the
- 18:39transplant was after the transplant.
- 18:41Because when I received the transplant, I told my sister and
- 18:45my brother. I said this heart doesn't feel,
- 18:48right? This feel like the same heart if
- 18:50so, like they put the same heart back in me and I said,
- 18:55something's wrong here. So the doctors came to me and
- 18:59they had did a biopsy because each time you have a hard
- 19:04Transplant. You have to get a biopsy to see
- 19:06if the heart is in rejection and African-Americans.
- 19:10We have the strongest immune system and once something
- 19:15foreign in Turin to our body, our body is going to attack it.
- 19:21So my body started attacking the new heart.
- 19:25Well, and so they had to do a treatment on me to wipe out my
- 19:30teeth bills, so my body can stop attacking.
- 19:33In the new heart. And that was a that was the
- 19:37rough time for me and I was able to make it through but it was
- 19:41also but time where, you know, I got a chance to get closer to
- 19:47you. Even get closer to God, I was
- 19:52there, you know, in a hospital, just talking to God just praying
- 19:55just, you know, worshipping God. And not just because of the
- 19:58heart transplant. But even to this day, nothing
- 20:01has stopped. So, every day is not a day, go
- 20:04by that, I tell my story because God said, how can you have a
- 20:08testimony if I don't take you through a test.
- 20:11So in order to give a testimony on one side once once that's a
- 20:17view like that, he don't want you.
- 20:20What he's done for you, he don't want you to just hold it in.
- 20:23He wants you to tell that he won't, he's a jealous God, he
- 20:26wants you to tell everybody what he's done for you and if he did
- 20:29it for me, he'll do it for you. Yes.
- 20:32So it was is still challenging. Now I'm still not out because
- 20:37it's only been 5 months now so I'm still not out the woods.
- 20:44It takes about a year for the nervous system to adjust and
- 20:48then you Ron so much medication that those medications have side
- 20:53effects. So yearly I have to go to the
- 20:56dermatologist to make sure I don't have skin cancer.
- 21:01I have to see a nephrologist to make sure my kidneys are
- 21:07functioning, so the medication calls other parts of your body
- 21:12to start filling. Wow!
- 21:15Wow, what Sabrina you don't look like what you been through, God.
- 21:19This is truly been good to you. Do you know your don't your
- 21:25Downer, but it won't tell me they told me.
- 21:29She was 30 years old. She was from New Mexico.
- 21:34They won't tell me how she died, but she did say, seven people,
- 21:39some of the people received a kidney.
- 21:42Another one. Got a lung transplant, the other
- 21:45one. God livers.
- 21:47So she saves seven people. Wow.
- 21:50I have a best friend. She's from New Mexico.
- 21:53And now she said we're like real sisters.
- 21:59Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:02So it's just really, I just been really grateful and it's not
- 22:07easy because ban on all this medication and especially
- 22:10steroids just to get it out there when you go through a
- 22:14transplant, when you're on steroids is really hard because
- 22:18your personality Change things, make you act different that you
- 22:24would normally a q may say things.
- 22:26So sometimes, you know, it affects the way you act, so as
- 22:32they come down on the dose that you start to get better.
- 22:35So, I just wanted to get out there to other people.
- 22:39If you have a family member, that went through a heart,
- 22:42transplant of a kidney transplant long, any type of
- 22:44transplant? Just be patient with them
- 22:47because it's also, Hard for the recipient, you know, because
- 22:54we're on so much medication that we never been on in our life.
- 22:58Wow. So it makes you, you know, it
- 23:02makes you act different because you are different.
- 23:05And sometimes you do have to seek counseling, you have to.
- 23:12I'm in a group where I talk to other people that had heart,
- 23:16transplant, lung transplants and we kind of compare notes.
- 23:19Because you do feel alone because nobody around.
- 23:23You has never had a transplant, so they can't really relate to
- 23:28you. So you have to get into some
- 23:30type of group therapy or talk to people that's been through the
- 23:33same thing that you've been through in order to survive.
- 23:37Wow. Wow.
- 23:39That is asked. And what date was that you
- 23:41received your transplant? That was actually on 9/11.
- 23:45So, when I got the transgender and the doctor said, Well,
- 23:50you're going to be having it tomorrow, which was on a
- 23:53Saturday and 9/11 was on this Sunday.
- 23:55I said that's a bad day for a transplant.
- 23:58He said, no, that's a good days than Black History Month.
- 24:18Yes. Made history.
- 24:21So this is my black history interview for the month of
- 24:25February. I figured it would be so
- 24:27befitting to interview. You to tell your story because
- 24:31you is definitely a walking miracle.
- 24:34I hope that this encourage others, I hope that if others
- 24:38have testimonies that, they when I sit down on their story.
- 24:43No, it's a great. I am really excited about you
- 24:46desire and to write a book. Yeah.
- 24:49Encourage you to write on your computer.
- 24:54Not write on paper because you get overwhelmed with all these
- 24:57pieces and Bits of Paper because you can put you can cut copy and
- 25:01paste as God give you things, right?
- 25:04And you don't know what chapter belongs in, but you write these
- 25:07different things down, right? But you just told your story,
- 25:11you write in details and then you start taking your content
- 25:15decide and what gonna get chapter going to be named what
- 25:18this gonna cry. With that.
- 25:20But if you ride it, you can always cut copy paste and put it
- 25:24somewhere else and and and because if you just write on a
- 25:28piece of paper you get over. Well alright.
- 25:30So I just want to also tell people that, you know, when
- 25:35your, this is your life, you have to fight for your life.
- 25:39You're going to stumble across different doctors, that doesn't
- 25:44seem like they're concerned about your health.
- 25:46Go get a second opinion. Go get a third of Union.
- 25:50You know, I went back and forth with different doctors and I did
- 25:53not stop until somebody help me. And like I said, I went to a
- 25:57hospital that wasn't my spine hospital because in my insurance
- 26:03end up paying them there. Be, and by the grace of God,
- 26:06they didn't turn me away. They keep every dime nickel
- 26:09penny to them. So, I just want to say, you
- 26:12know, and when you're, when you feel something in your body that
- 26:16doesn't feel right, go, get it checked out because we as An
- 26:19American and you don't even have to be African-American we as
- 26:22human beings period. We may feel something on we too
- 26:26scared to go to the hospital too scared to get it checked out.
- 26:30Go get it checked out because little things that they catch it
- 26:34early and then you'll be better. But if you wait too late, then
- 26:38it's too late. So as soon as I felt something
- 26:41in my heart I knew that something wasn't right?
- 26:44So I went and got it checked out right away.
- 26:47Wow. And in the midst of Of you
- 26:49finding out about your heart condition and getting a
- 26:53transplant. Would you able to what you're
- 26:55able to still work? Sometimes or so?
- 27:00I still. So I had the transplant and
- 27:04September, I was in the hospital for a month.
- 27:08So I got out and I went straight back to work.
- 27:11And I work part-time, I work from home and I work for
- 27:15wonderful company. That told me as I've been there.
- 27:19Twenty years and he told me as long as I'm alive.
- 27:23They don't care if I do one or two three hours a week as long
- 27:26as I'm doing. I'm working with them.
- 27:28So I thank God for that and I still work and then I started my
- 27:33own business and it's called you buy airfryer.
- 27:39So the reason why I started that is because you know we all like
- 27:44chicken. We all like fried food.
- 27:46I know I do but You put it in the air, fryer, you won't get
- 27:51the grease. So I started that due to that.
- 27:56You won't get the grease. Do my cardiologist?
- 27:58They're, they're telling me when I'm ready to deliver their
- 28:04build. Be ready to eat my food.
- 28:11Yeah, I started that and hopefully with God's grace, to
- 28:16the just grow and hopefully I'll have a restaurant bar.
- 28:19Now, for this first year, they just want me to concentrate on
- 28:22me. So I do cardiac rehab three
- 28:25three times a week. And then I take a brisk, walk
- 28:28the other four days. So they just want me to continue
- 28:32to get this heart strong. So sometimes you get tired, but
- 28:36you can't get tired. You have to still find because
- 28:39the donor you know, it's a lot of times I want to cry cuz you
- 28:45know the parents, they lost a daughter and she was only 13.
- 28:49Thirty years old. And so I plan on meeting the
- 28:53family. There are New Mexico so
- 28:56hopefully we can connect and if they want to listen to the
- 28:59heart, I want to know as much about this young lady and I want
- 29:04them to be able to listen to the heart.
- 29:06So just pray that they will be able to accept my invite for me
- 29:12to get to know them. Well, that, that would be, that
- 29:15would be awesome. Yeah.
- 29:19I'm going I'm going to Mexico in June.
- 29:21I need to Cancun Mexico in June. That it that that is really
- 29:31really awesome Sabrina and I pray that you know I just
- 29:35believe that that will be a part of your group that you meant the
- 29:39family that you mention it, the family and their daughter still
- 29:43lives on. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:46Members still lives on in, by her touch and seven.
- 29:49The other people's lives. That is amazing.
- 29:54Yeah, lost her and I'm sure that was a great loss and her, but
- 29:59then it's encouraging and inspiring to know that their
- 30:03daughter was was adult was a dawn donor.
- 30:06Yes. Aha.
- 30:08He's a donor and how she has helped other people lives.
- 30:12You have certainly certainly Sabrina.
- 30:15You have certainly encouraged us.
- 30:19To walk by faith and let us know that there's really nothing too
- 30:23hard for God. No, no, no, you are, I'm sure.
- 30:27During the time when you were diagnosed and going from Doctor
- 30:30to doctor to doctor to doctor, there was some discouraging
- 30:34moments, are moments, like, okay, God, I know you got but
- 30:39now what I do next. It's all right.
- 30:42How is this going to work out? And they telling me my heart is
- 30:46doing this and look how Is he moved?
- 30:49They had to be nobody. But God, by God.
- 30:52Yeah, transplant. Just like that.
- 30:57Yes. When people have been waiting
- 30:59for four to six months, and I felt bad, because I said, Lord,
- 31:04why me? You know, we have people we're
- 31:07all on this Critical Care floor, and they're waiting for 26
- 31:11months. And he said, why not you?
- 31:14Why not, you know, why not to install?
- 31:17I cannot not. If, you know, it would be one of
- 31:21the ones to come back to say, thank you, thank you.
- 31:24And then I have a, I have a job to do and I can, and I will not
- 31:27stop doing that job, no matter what, and it's to tell others
- 31:32about him, and it's to tell other what he's done for me.
- 31:36And if he do it, if he did it for me, he'll do it for you
- 31:39because he don't discriminate, he loves everybody, he loves the
- 31:42universe, you know, we have to put our faith in him, even
- 31:46though the doctors are doctors, This is God, does died in their
- 31:51hands is, it gives them the strength because without him
- 31:55were nothing. And so, I just want everybody to
- 31:59know, give everything in your life to God and he did, yes.
- 32:05Yes, Sabrina. If someone wanted to reach out
- 32:08to you and contact, you could you give them your email address
- 32:12or your phone number, if you would like, but definitely your
- 32:15email address. Yeah, they wanted to reach out
- 32:18to you because Because, you know, I don't know.
- 32:20You're not on social media so if they can reach out to you back
- 32:23then a male. Yes.
- 32:25They can reach out to me because a lot of times it could be
- 32:28people. That's waiting for a heart that
- 32:32they may give up because I was on the outside in I was going to
- 32:36go through the process of waiting.
- 32:38You cannot give up or you may be afraid because a lot of people
- 32:44is afraid to get a heart transplant.
- 32:46You cannot be afraid. Um, I put everything on God
- 32:51shoulder and I said, God, I give everything to you and I want you
- 32:58to fix it while I just go to sleep.
- 33:00So I just put everything on God and that's how I got through it.
- 33:04So if anybody want to get in touch with me, they can email me
- 33:08at jay@jaytownsend.com and as Jan's and Jamel S, as in
- 33:15Sabrina, Parker 008, At gmail.com, you can reach out to
- 33:21me and then I'll get back to you because sometimes you just be
- 33:24needing someone to talk to you. Because when your, when your
- 33:28heart's not functioning, oh my God, I even had a stroke in my
- 33:33eye, you starting to go blind because you're not getting
- 33:37enough blood flow to the rest of your body.
- 33:40And then I start losing weight because I wasn't able to hold
- 33:44the nutrients, in my stomach, my nails Stark.
- 33:49Like turning like the color of death, it was just like I was
- 33:54dying so when your heart's not pumping, nothing else can work.
- 33:58So, you know, now my eyes are better.
- 34:00I'm able to see just need the regular readers like everybody
- 34:04else, but, you know, you can't be afraid, you just have to give
- 34:10it to God. And that's what anything.
- 34:12I know some women out there, I also was on a chemo pill.
- 34:18I had I end up losing all of my hair.
- 34:20Everything was my hair had fell out and God restored my hair.
- 34:25So he whatever has been taken away, he can give it all back
- 34:29and then some so and then now my weights, come back now, I feel
- 34:33like I'm too big so it's just, it's amazing.
- 34:39What he can do is nothing is too hard for him.
- 34:42You just have to give it to God. Yes, that is so awesome and some
- 34:48it. I heard you say, like some
- 34:50people have to wait, like maybe six months to there, is that the
- 34:53longest or help people, because I know people who know people
- 34:56kidney transplant, they all, wait, they be on, they be on the
- 34:59list, maybe two years or longer? Yeah.
- 35:03So is the way it works. Is they it worse by, if you are
- 35:07number one or two, is how sick you are?
- 35:10Is how long you wait. If you're waiting on the outside
- 35:14for heart, I met a young lady yesterday.
- 35:17She said she waited for years. Years and she was waiting on the
- 35:20outside. If you're waiting in the inside,
- 35:24you get a heart faster because they mean your critical.
- 35:27So mean when you say inside you coming inside inside the
- 35:34hospital. So when you're waiting it
- 35:37becomes like your home, people fly from different states to
- 35:41come to UCLA. They you know it's hard on the
- 35:46family, they stay in hotels and Their loved ones that becomes
- 35:50their home until the heart comes.
- 35:52So they haven't decorated and I was going to have to do that
- 35:56because it was, they told me it was going to be about 4 4 to 6
- 36:00months, they didn't know. And I said, oh my God, that's a
- 36:03long time. So you have to adjust, you know,
- 36:06I was in there month eating their food.
- 36:08I started throwing up is just, you know, it's a lot mentally to
- 36:13have to just wait in the hospital for four games over
- 36:17know what Dave is yours. Yeah, you just seen that way
- 36:20out. You just making him a bad day,
- 36:22and God gave you one. Just like that, just like that.
- 36:25And I could not believe it. I heard the helicopter and I
- 36:28said, I wonder is that the hard for me and I said no.
- 36:32And it was, it was so hard for me.
- 36:35Wow, yeah. So I'm just, I was so blessed.
- 36:38I'm so thankful and I will never forget what God has done for me
- 36:43and UCLA is a wonderful, wonderful Hospital the Work
- 36:49together and God, he just didn't give me any surgeon.
- 36:53He gave me the hit of surgeon like he's the, his name is dr.
- 36:58Olla Hari. He's the head of the, all the,
- 37:02all the surgeons there and I say, you just didn't give me the
- 37:04heart but you gave me. The main person that does the
- 37:08heart transplant. I want to make you work on a
- 37:11Sunday. Wow.
- 37:14And I say Lord. Oh my God.
- 37:19He's very particular with his patients.
- 37:22He want to make sure that, you know, you up sitting up at 6:00
- 37:26in the morning, you cannot be laying in the bed.
- 37:28You have to get up the same day on walk.
- 37:31You there is no just laying around.
- 37:34He wants you up and walking. So I just thank God for him.
- 37:38And I thank God for all the entire staff that I have, that's
- 37:44helping me weakly. I have a standing nurse.
- 37:49She's the nurse practitioner. Her name is Maya King.
- 37:52She's wonderful. Because like I said, when you're
- 37:55on Prednisone, you can you know, especially me.
- 37:59I was like, no, no, I'm not doing this and I'm not doing
- 38:02that and it was really the prednisone, and I just want to
- 38:05thank her for being patient with me because you know, when you're
- 38:09on all this medication, you turn into a different person.
- 38:13Hmm, well yeah. And when you was on the van, An
- 38:18hour later and we're going to close in the menus on the
- 38:21ventilator Sabrina. How long would you want to live
- 38:24in? I was only on a ventilator for I
- 38:28wasn't on the ventilator law. No, no, I thank God for that
- 38:32because the when I came out, I was on a ventilator and they
- 38:34have my hands and strength. And I remember just looking
- 38:42around but I couldn't talk and I remember just couldn't I wasn't
- 38:46able to breathe. So I was only on the I don't
- 38:48know how That was on it, but when I woke up, I was on it.
- 38:52But I wasn't on it long, but I didn't like it.
- 38:55So 18, when I fell, he got off of it.
- 38:58I was so grateful. Yeah, I would never want to be
- 39:02on a ventilator again. Mmm.
- 39:05Yeah, so I just thank God that he brought me through this.
- 39:11And if he do it for me, like I said, he'll do it for everybody.
- 39:15Just don't be afraid. Just walk by faith.
- 39:17You have to Walk by faith is not by sight by faith, not by what
- 39:23you see, but that would definitely discourage you.
- 39:31And if I didn't have any pain you, you know, the next person,
- 39:35may not have any pain, you know, it's more painful for me to get,
- 39:38I have to get a biopsy every two weeks and then to even though I
- 39:43had an autopsy. So the doctor said sometimes we
- 39:47cannot find What was wrong with you until we do an autopsy.
- 39:51I set up top seat so I can have an autopsy and I had cardiac
- 39:56sarcoidosis and that's an autoimmune disease that attack
- 40:01the major organs of your body so it can tag mainly attacks your
- 40:05lungs and Bernie Mac had that but he did die of pneumonia but
- 40:10he had he's the only person I know that has sarcoidosis and is
- 40:15mainly an African Americans. And so that's what I end up
- 40:22having. So they didn't actually find
- 40:24that out into. They did an autopsy and there's
- 40:27something to see. I never I never, I never knew
- 40:30that a person alive having op tops.
- 40:32Yeah, autopsy. So they had to have a biopsy and
- 40:36so just to wrap your mind. So that's when the counseling
- 40:40comes in. So to wrap your mind around
- 40:44that, you was only only machines was keeping you alive.
- 40:48Why they put the heart in you, you know, it can be a lot for
- 40:52your brain. So that's why I tell people you
- 40:56need to go get counseling and that helps you because talking
- 41:01to other people about that. That's gone through it and it
- 41:06helps you why you trying to go through it because if not,
- 41:09you'll go crazy, just thinking about all the things that you
- 41:12went through, you'll start feeling sorry for yourself and
- 41:15things like that, but instead, I turn it around and I try to I
- 41:19feel positive. I just thank the Lord.
- 41:22What he's done for me? Yes I just look at it in a
- 41:25different light right. Wow, that is so awesome Sabrina.
- 41:32Wow, yeah, I thank God for your testimony.
- 41:39Thank God for your willingness to share your story and I pray
- 41:44that this will inspire others. You might not need a heart
- 41:48transplant. Lance, you might need a child.
- 41:51Say the marriage, say he laughs. No but there are a lot of things
- 41:56that you expecting God to do, and we might even seem like God
- 42:01has forgotten you, but he had once having God, giving you a
- 42:05test for Testimony. So don't be afraid to share your
- 42:10story. So Sabrina, I just want to say
- 42:12thank you, thank you, thank you, for your willingness, it has
- 42:17been. It's Great seeing you too you
- 42:19know years usually is. Yes, yes, we seen each other but
- 42:26God is amazing. How God orchestrates things.
- 42:30You know what I'm saying? Steers, you never know how
- 42:33things are gonna turn out, but I thank God for the, and thank you
- 42:37for your willingness, and we're going to end this podcast at
- 42:41this time. But like I said, ladies, if you
- 42:43have a story and you want to share your story, reach out to
- 42:48me, If you are, you know, of anyone, they need a heart
- 42:53transplant or kidney transplant, or they are afraid or you feel.
- 42:59I've been dealing with it. This many years, I might, as
- 43:02well deal with it. This know if, you know somebody
- 43:07that this podcast will bless. Yes.
- 43:11This podcast, the link will be out and you can you can email
- 43:16the link, you can text the link, you can Can find the link on
- 43:19Spotify is so many where you'll be able to find this testimony
- 43:23and Sabrina, you'll be able to share this.
- 43:26This link to your doctor's to your the next to the hospital to
- 43:33talk to your little group, or whatever.
- 43:37And we're to be a blessing to other people.
- 43:39But again, I want to say thank you, ladies so much, but
- 43:42continue to rock. With you, it was too late.
- 43:46Miss van, the founder of women, majoring in marriage podcast,
- 43:50latest you go and you enjoy your day and be bully.
- 43:54Yes, be blessed. I guess.
- 43:57I want to say thank you for having me on here Jan.
- 44:01And thank you more. And thank you for giving me a
- 44:04chance to tell my story. And I do just want to say, I
- 44:08want to thank my family for being there for me.
- 44:11And I want to thank my friends for being there for me.
- 44:14Without your family, and your friends is hard for you to make
- 44:17it. Because in order for you to even
- 44:19get up, are you have to have caretakers?
- 44:21Or you won't even, they won't even improve you.
- 44:24So you have to have Talcott are caretakers and they have to meet
- 44:28them. So I just want to thank for
- 44:31that, they do all that before they for this year before you
- 44:35approved approved. You have to have somebody that
- 44:38say that they agree to Yak here. And if you don't have, if you
- 44:43don't have caretakers, As you will be denied, even if you're
- 44:46dying. Wow.
- 44:49Yes, because you have to have someone there to help take care
- 44:52of you because it's like, you're, you're an adult.
- 44:57But you're like a big baby because, you know, you you can't
- 45:01really do much for yourself. And one of the reasons why it
- 45:05was a little bit, not as difficult for my family is
- 45:09because normally once you have a transplant, you're in a
- 45:13hospital, maybe like ten days at the most.
- 45:15I was in the hospital for months, so I got Recovery was
- 45:19really from the nurses in the hospital so my family didn't
- 45:23have to do as much so it was easier.
- 45:26Yeah. So but I just want to thank
- 45:29everybody in all the doctors I want to give a you know dr.
- 45:35Kamath dr. Cruz dr.
- 45:37Dain dr. Boss dr.
- 45:39All of the doctors dr. Olla Hari.
- 45:42The surgeon that I said, Maya, doctor, kamath all of the
- 45:46doctors In just want to thank God for all of them.
- 45:52No, that's a blessing. Yes, yes, yes.
