- 1:05Speaker 3: But here's the deal, though, I know that, but does
- 1:08Speaker 3: a butt more good news is that, you know, we've
- 1:11Speaker 3: only been dating for two years and this man is
- 1:14Speaker 3: he's such a great guy.
- 1:16Speaker 2: He's already talking about taking steps for a future, like
- 1:20Speaker 2: combining I finances, buying houses, all the grown up stuff.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Okay, so before we met a few years ago, I
- 1:28Speaker 2: actually co signed for a car for my ex. This
- 1:32Speaker 2: act of mine. Actually did something stupid and he got
- 1:35Speaker 2: arrested and he's actually in prison.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oh oh, that's not good.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I've been slept paying for this car ever since.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Guys, so you're paying for so you're paying for the
- 1:49Speaker 1: car he's in jail, prison, whatever.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and my fiance doesn't know. I didn't tell him.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so he doesn't he does? Does it
- 2:00Speaker 1: know that you're paying for your ex's car who's in prison? Right?
- 2:05Speaker 5: How much is left on the payment?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Like? Do you have to pay off?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Okay, so I'm almost paid off. There's only like five
- 2:11Speaker 2: grand left five grand.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Okay, still another year?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Was it in ultimate? Because I feel like it's an ultima.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It's given me ultimate energy. I'm just kidding. So are
- 2:26Speaker 1: you going to tell your fiance? I mean, what do
- 2:28Speaker 1: you because if you combine finances, obviously he's gonna see.
- 2:31Speaker 2: It, right, So I've been stalling.
- 2:34Speaker 4: I'm telling him, hey, well, I don't think we should
- 2:36Speaker 4: combine finance until I pay off my student.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Loans, right, yeah, right right.
- 2:43Speaker 4: But he's forever talking about murder the accounts and planning
- 2:47Speaker 4: ahead and doing all these things.
- 2:48Speaker 3: He's so for it.
- 2:49Speaker 2: He's just but it makes me.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Sit to my stomach.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Guys, he's such a great guy, and I feel like dirt.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Well.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean, who says you don't have to combine finances?
- 2:58Speaker 1: I know plenty of people who are. May you do
- 3:00Speaker 1: have separate finances, So maybe that's just not your thing.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Maybe we have a joint account together where we take
- 3:05Speaker 1: care of the bills and you have your own account.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I mind, it doesn't have to be. I don't know
- 3:10Speaker 1: what you and Eric kntess? What are you and Eric? Do?
- 3:11Speaker 1: You can buy in all finances pretty much?
- 3:13Speaker 5: I mean, we have our own accounts, but we have
- 3:15Speaker 5: combined joint accounts.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Also, so you also have side accounts. Yeah, oh like
- 3:19Speaker 1: side girl.
- 3:19Speaker 5: I just didn't get rid of my bank accounts, like
- 3:21Speaker 5: you know, my savings accounts.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Does you know how much is in that? It does, yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 1: because it's technically half his. Yeah, yeah, for sure. All right,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I didn't know you had to open of all that. Sure, yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: I have to, I guess. But it is your account
- 3:40Speaker 1: is your account, his account is his account. Yeah. But
- 3:43Speaker 1: here's the problem with this though. If he feels I
- 3:46Speaker 1: don't know, if you don't tell him and he does
- 3:48Speaker 1: find out, he's going to feel like there's obviously some
- 3:51Speaker 1: major trust that's broken here.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, absolutely, And I feel horrible lying to him
- 3:57Speaker 4: just in general, whether I could pull off the you know,
- 4:00Speaker 4: holding off on the combined combining accounting.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I just really feel terrible.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I'm trying to put myself in your shoes. Now. I
- 4:07Speaker 1: did do something kind of stupid back in the day.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I bought a car for a girl. Yeah, and I
- 4:12Speaker 1: was making payments out of it. We broke up. Who
- 4:14Speaker 1: you know this because you had to go steal it back.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I forgot about it. First of all,
- 4:19Speaker 1: you're acting surprise, She took the car when we broke up.
- 4:23Speaker 1: She took the car when we broke up, and I
- 4:25Speaker 1: had to go get it. I had to literally go
- 4:27Speaker 1: almost steal the car back because her name wasn't on it. No,
- 4:32Speaker 1: who had to go repoe it for me? God, we've
- 4:35Speaker 1: been through a lot of crap. The point is, I
- 4:37Speaker 1: was I had that car, and I was dating other people,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and I'd explained why I had this random car, and
- 4:43Speaker 1: I was just honest about it. Yeah, I bought this
- 4:46Speaker 1: from my ex and we broke up. So here it
- 4:48Speaker 1: is now I'm going to figure out what to do
- 4:49Speaker 1: with it. So I don't know if I would look
- 4:51Speaker 1: at you different if I'm your fiance and you tell
- 4:53Speaker 1: me the truth about something. The problem is you've waited
- 4:55Speaker 1: a little long now, right, that's the problem. You know.
- 4:58Speaker 5: I think we combined finances until we actually got married,
- 5:01Speaker 5: but you're still delaying it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Even if you do that, Yeah, then I mean, this
- 5:05Speaker 1: is not the end. Even if he finds out it's
- 5:07Speaker 1: not a deal breaker. It's like you had a big heart. No,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I don't think so. You had a big heart. You're
- 5:12Speaker 1: trying to help an ex. People. If everyone's done, that
- 5:14Speaker 1: was it. You have to own it that it was
- 5:16Speaker 1: a bad decision.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you could tell him before we combine.
- 5:21Speaker 5: I just need to get this off before it becomes
- 5:23Speaker 5: your issue too, exactly.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, let us know what happens. And and yeah, because
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'd love to follow up on this, and and good luck,
- 5:32Speaker 1: it'll be okay. Don't don't worry about it. Don't let
- 5:34Speaker 1: it freak you out this much.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Oh, thank you guys. You guys are awesome. Thank you
- 5:37Speaker 2: so much.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You feel better confessing, don't you.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually do.
- 5:43Speaker 1: That's what we're here for.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Thank you.
