Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello, everyone.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome in to another episode of DiCecco Daily. It's Andrew DiCecco,
- 0:15Speaker 2: Eagles beat reporter for InsideTheBirds.com. The Thursday injury report, not practicing.
- 0:20Speaker 2: A new one, safety Drew McCuba with a knee. Limited
- 0:24Speaker 2: defensive tackle, Jalen Carter wrist. Defensive back, Cooper Dijon calf abdomen.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Outside linebacker, Jonathan Grenard pectoral. So... with Makuba, that's something
- 0:36Speaker 2: that when you see it pop up this late in
- 0:38Speaker 2: the week, that's.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Something that you'll certainly have to monitor.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And I will come Friday's practice, but we got a
- 0:45Speaker 2: chance to hear from Jonathan Grenard and Jalen Carter today.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Let's get to some of what Jalen Carter had to
- 0:53Speaker 2: say when asked about how he's feeling.
- 0:55Speaker 1: He says, good.
- 0:57Speaker 2: He did have a sort of a wrap or a
- 1:00Speaker 2: cast around his right wrist, but he, He said, it's
- 1:06Speaker 2: not a problem. He said, I look fine out there
- 1:07Speaker 2: wearing it, you know. Just minor adjustments, still out there
- 1:12Speaker 2: practicing and ready to play. And he said it happened
- 1:15Speaker 2: when he was attempting a punch out, and he said
- 1:18Speaker 2: that's pretty much it.
- 1:19Speaker 1: He said everything's good with it.
- 1:25Speaker 2: When asked about x-rays, if the x-rays were clean, he said,
- 1:28Speaker 2: ain't nothing else, just, you know, He said, it feels good,
- 1:37Speaker 2: good treatment in there. You know, them guys, they treated
- 1:39Speaker 2: me right in there. Just get me ready for the
- 1:42Speaker 2: game we got this week. Went and asked if it
- 1:47Speaker 2: was a sprain or a fracture, what's going on in there.
- 1:49Speaker 2: He said, I don't even know if I were to
- 1:52Speaker 2: get into all that. If y'all want to know, y'all
- 1:55Speaker 2: can ask the guys around. But I like to keep
- 1:58Speaker 2: my personal stuff personal. Then he added, but I feel good.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I'm playing this week. That's the big part. That's the
- 2:06Speaker 2: main thing right there, playing. So like Cooper DeGene, Jalen
- 2:11Speaker 2: Carter said that he's playing in this game. The fact
- 2:14Speaker 2: that he was upgraded from not practicing to limited is
- 2:17Speaker 2: obviously a good sign. The one that's a little troubling
- 2:21Speaker 2: there is Makuba, and because it's late in the week
- 2:23Speaker 2: and it's a knee, but again, that's something that we're
- 2:26Speaker 2: going to keep an eye on as.
- 2:27Speaker 1: The week progresses here, and we're coming towards the end
- 2:30Speaker 1: of it. Jonathan Grenard spoke.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Based off of what Jonathan Grenard was saying, I would
- 2:36Speaker 2: be surprised if he played this week as well. I
- 2:39Speaker 2: think it's still a little early, and if you read
- 2:41Speaker 2: between the lines, and I'll read for you some of
- 2:44Speaker 2: what he had to say, you'll.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Kind of see where I'm going with this.
- 2:56Speaker 2: When asked about how difficult it is to sit out
- 2:59Speaker 2: and not be able to play, he said, yeah... I mean,
- 3:01Speaker 2: especially when I ain't played ball since December. I mean,
- 3:04Speaker 2: anybody would be pissed off about that. So I was
- 3:06Speaker 2: just mad at obviously the timing of the injury. But
- 3:09Speaker 2: at the end of the day, everything happens for a reason.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So all I can control is moving forward to my
- 3:14Speaker 2: next step forward. And I feel like they've done a
- 3:17Speaker 2: great job here with the rehab process.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I'm feeling better. I'm getting more and more confident in it.
- 3:23Speaker 2: And just only going to start days where I can
- 3:25Speaker 2: eventually get out there. I'm reading my transcription, so bear
- 3:30Speaker 2: with me. If they ramp it up a little bit,
- 3:35Speaker 2: he said, yeah, 100%. And he added, just really based
- 3:39Speaker 2: off of what it allows. I mean, when you deal
- 3:42Speaker 2: with a soft tissue injury like that, you kind of
- 3:44Speaker 2: got to take what it gives you and then obviously
- 3:46Speaker 2: push a little bit. But playing that fine line is
- 3:48Speaker 2: the main thing that's going to be able to see
- 3:50Speaker 2: where you're at. You got to go through some stuff.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You're going to go through pains and little weird nicks
- 3:55Speaker 2: in practice. But that's what it's all for, to build
- 3:59Speaker 2: you up for the game.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Um, let's see.
- 4:08Speaker 2: He talked about building the endurance over time so that
- 4:12Speaker 2: he can be out there. Have you ever wanted to
- 4:16Speaker 2: play football more in your life? He said, honestly, yeah, nah,
- 4:20Speaker 2: this is the most, I mean, it's being out. Didn't even, uh,
- 4:24Speaker 2: not being out there. The first game is hard enough
- 4:26Speaker 2: as it is. I mean, environment was crazy division game.
- 4:28Speaker 2: You see everybody getting riled up. I mean, nobody, and
- 4:31Speaker 2: I don't care. They can argue. Nobody want to be
- 4:33Speaker 2: out there more than I do. He said if this
- 4:43Speaker 2: were a playoff game, would you push through it? He
- 4:45Speaker 2: said every game is like a playoff game, so I
- 4:47Speaker 2: can't just say, oh, it's the playoffs, I would go
- 4:49Speaker 2: out there. No, I mean, I would go out there now,
- 4:51Speaker 2: but it's ultimately just I got to be smart with it.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And ultimately, whenever we get to that point, we're just
- 4:58Speaker 2: going to go off what the trainers say and what
- 5:00Speaker 2: the coaching staff says. If they say I'm ready and
- 5:03Speaker 2: they like what they see in practice, we'll be going.
- 5:11Speaker 2: He talked about what his involvement was in practice. And
- 5:14Speaker 2: he said when he was out, he said, but during practice,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I try to get the cardio a little bit.
- 5:19Speaker 1: But during the game, when I'm on.
- 5:20Speaker 2: The sideline, I'm just giving pointers, watching little stuff I
- 5:23Speaker 2: see from the offensive line or anything I see in
- 5:25Speaker 2: the game. I'm passing to the coach and to the
- 5:28Speaker 2: players so everybody can be on the same page. He said, oh,
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm definitely locked in. Like, listen, I'm not a guy
- 5:34Speaker 2: that's just eating candy on the sideline. Do you anticipate
- 5:40Speaker 2: that when you do return, you'll be on some sort
- 5:42Speaker 2: of a pitch count as they ramp you up?
- 5:44Speaker 1: He said, possibly. I just know if I am in there,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I'm ready to go. I know that much.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So if they want to leave me in there, cool.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Just got to go off of what they say, so
- 5:54Speaker 2: I can't really call it right now.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Here we go. He said, ultimately, that's just trying to
- 6:04Speaker 1: build momentum.
- 6:06Speaker 2: That's just trying to build that endurance and build to
- 6:08Speaker 2: the point where I can honestly go out there and
- 6:10Speaker 2: do my job at.
- 6:10Speaker 1: A high level. If I'm not just trying to be
- 6:12Speaker 1: out there.
- 6:13Speaker 2: And hold up a block and do my job, I
- 6:17Speaker 2: just want to, I need to go out there and dominate.
- 6:19Speaker 2: And that's kind of my whole mindset, man, since I
- 6:21Speaker 2: got into the league. So until I get back to that,
- 6:24Speaker 2: you ain't going to see me.

- 8:14Speaker 3: to concentrate on my physical health, my body, making sure
- 8:18Speaker 3: I'm putting the right things in and the healthiest things in.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I've always heard about creatine, but I wasn't really sure
- 8:24Speaker 3: about using creatine supplements until I did the research to
- 8:27Speaker 3: find out what it was really all about. That's when
- 8:30Speaker 3: I found Momentus, which created Signature Spec Creatine, their most
- 8:35Speaker 3: advanced creatine ever, setting a new standard for creatine quality.
- 8:40Speaker 3: It's one of the only creatines to be manufactured in
- 8:42Speaker 3: a pharmaceutical facility using reverse osmosis water purification and verified
- 8:48Speaker 3: through an expanded six-stage testing process with four independent agencies.
- 8:53Speaker 3: They've improved the product experience with ultra-fine powder that mixes
- 8:57Speaker 3: effortlessly with no grit or clumping. Hey, look, I like
- 9:01Speaker 3: a good creatine shake in the afternoon and it's got
- 9:04Speaker 3: to taste good and be smooth. The benefits of creatine
- 9:07Speaker 3: are very real. It supports strength, power, lean muscle growth, recovery,
- 9:12Speaker 3: and even improve cognitive performance. And as I get older,
- 9:15Speaker 3: all of those things are so much more important to
- 9:18Speaker 3: me than they used to be. If you want to
- 9:20Speaker 3: try Momentous Signature Spec Creatine, head to livemomentous.com and use code.

- 9:40Speaker 3: Hey, I'm somebody who likes to work out. I get
- 9:42Speaker 3: to the gym at least three times a week. I
- 9:44Speaker 3: try to focus on certain muscle groups, my arms, my legs.
- 9:47Speaker 3: And it used to be really frustrating for me to
- 9:50Speaker 3: find jeans that fit someone like myself who likes to
- 9:53Speaker 3: work out. Sometimes those jeans can be awkward and tight
- 9:57Speaker 3: and you're sitting in a chair and you're constantly pulling.
- 10:00Speaker 1: At your jeans, trying to get them to fit you.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Sometimes it feels like you have to buy jeans that
- 10:05Speaker 3: make you choose between your waist or your thighs. But
- 10:08Speaker 3: thankfully I found the perfect jean. It's different from all
- 10:12Speaker 3: other jean companies. especially for guys with athletic builds. They
- 10:16Speaker 3: actually let me move like a normal human being. I
- 10:19Speaker 3: can bend down and tie my shoes. I can squat
- 10:22Speaker 3: to pick up something without feeling restricted. I can actually
- 10:25Speaker 3: do a full squat, you know, bending down to pick
- 10:27Speaker 3: something up without feeling like I'm about to blow a scene.
- 10:31Speaker 3: You know, the old standard jean sizing, it wasn't designed
- 10:34Speaker 3: to fit guys who squat or deadlift, play sports, or
- 10:37Speaker 3: just do anything that actually builds your legs. But the
- 10:39Speaker 3: perfect jean is designed for just that, for guys who,
- 10:43Speaker 3: like me.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Perfect Gene has six fits. It includes the athletic.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Fit, the slim, the thick, and the thick thick, specifically
- 10:50Speaker 3: built around the reality that legs and waist don't always
- 10:53Speaker 3: scale together. Right now, our listeners get 15% off their
- 10:56Speaker 3: first order, plus free shipping at theperfectgene.nyc or Google The
- 11:03Speaker 3: Perfect Gene and use code BIRDS15. for 15% off. That's
- 11:07Speaker 3: 15% off first order plus free shipping at theperfectgene.nyc or

- 11:18Speaker 2: So that was Jonathan Bernard. Two key players that we
- 11:21Speaker 2: heard from today. We also heard from Makai Lemon. But
- 11:24Speaker 2: let's look at the practice field. And it started out
- 11:27Speaker 2: raining a little bit. The first thing I'm looking for
- 11:30Speaker 2: is is Cooper DeGene out there in the stretch line?
- 11:32Speaker 1: Is Jalen Carter out there? And both were.
- 11:37Speaker 2: But I don't recall seeing Drew Makuba in that sort
- 11:39Speaker 2: of sense of.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Alert to me and in my mind.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And sure enough, the injury report comes out, he didn't practice.
- 11:45Speaker 2: But the main event today, if you will, was the
- 11:51Speaker 2: offensive line. And Thursday practices normally are practices where we're
- 11:57Speaker 2: out there for about a half hour. You see the stretching.
- 12:00Speaker 2: On one field, you'll see the pump returners. And on
- 12:03Speaker 2: the far side of that field, you'll see the defensive backs,
- 12:07Speaker 2: the starters, usually Quinion Mitchell and Enrique Wode in this case,
- 12:11Speaker 2: working separately, Saquon and Dallas Goddard on that same field
- 12:16Speaker 2: on the far side of that as well, doing their thing.
- 12:19Speaker 2: But then on the second field, the middle field, if
- 12:22Speaker 2: you will, that's where you see the offensive line after
- 12:25Speaker 2: they break stretching. And that's really where you're able to
- 12:29Speaker 2: see the alignment and how things might be shaping up.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But Today, with the first team going through warm-ups, it was,
- 12:41Speaker 2: and this is kind of wonky, so bear with me.
- 12:46Speaker 2: It was Drew Kendall, Jordan Mailata at left tackle, at
- 12:49Speaker 2: left guard Fred Johnson, at center Cam Juergens, at right
- 12:53Speaker 2: guard Tyler Steen, and at right tackle Lane Johnson. So
- 12:56Speaker 2: Drew Kendall was out there, but he was almost like
- 12:58Speaker 2: a tight end. Willie Lampkin was working with the second
- 13:02Speaker 2: team during individual's. But it was kind of notable that
- 13:05Speaker 2: Fred Johnson was at left guard with the first unit
- 13:08Speaker 2: during individuals. But keep in mind that the full team
- 13:14Speaker 2: practice happens after reporters leave. And best believe that the
- 13:20Speaker 2: Eagles are well aware of when reporters are out there,
- 13:24Speaker 2: what we're going to put out there. And so part
- 13:28Speaker 2: of me wonders if that was just sort of a
- 13:31Speaker 2: diversion there. just to maybe create some deception that that's
- 13:35Speaker 2: not really what they're planning because they know that we're
- 13:38Speaker 2: all going to report what we see out there and
- 13:40Speaker 2: so maybe I guess maybe it could be Fred Johnson
- 13:44Speaker 2: but the bottom line is Fred Johnson hadn't repped at
- 13:48Speaker 2: guard all summer he has played guard not in Philadelphia
- 13:52Speaker 2: but he has played guard but I think that that
- 13:55Speaker 2: would be a little peculiar and you know to me
- 13:58Speaker 2: it seems like Drew Kendall who has been the top
- 14:00Speaker 2: interior backup all summer He's worked a lot at left guard,
- 14:05Speaker 2: and he filled in for Landon on the first team
- 14:06Speaker 2: during the summer. That would be the most logical solution
- 14:10Speaker 2: in some capacity, whether that's at center or whether that's
- 14:12Speaker 2: at guard.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So maybe this was.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Kind of throwing off our scent a little bit, but
- 14:18Speaker 2: that was the configuration while we were out there. And
- 14:20Speaker 2: it's important to note that after 15 or 20 minutes,
- 14:24Speaker 2: we left. Reporters leave, and that's when it's closed off
- 14:28Speaker 2: to the media, and that's where practice really starts.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Begins after we're out of there.
- 14:34Speaker 2: So a lot could change and maybe it did, but
- 14:38Speaker 2: that I'm just telling you what we saw out there.
- 14:40Speaker 2: And I'm certainly, that's not certainly, that's certainly not something
- 14:44Speaker 2: that I'm going to, I'm going to run with because
- 14:46Speaker 2: I have to trust all the information that I had
- 14:48Speaker 2: in the summer and, and everything else. But Nick Sirianni
- 14:52Speaker 2: did mention Fred Johnson when he talked about we're comfortable
- 14:55Speaker 2: with all our guys.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And he mentioned Drew, Willie.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Fred and, So he covered all his bases there, and
- 15:02Speaker 2: obviously they're keeping this close to the vest for the
- 15:05Speaker 2: competitive advantage aspect. Whatever we put out there, Tennessee's going
- 15:12Speaker 2: to see it, and fans are going to see it.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So the Eagles take competitive advantage very seriously, and I
- 15:20Speaker 2: have to imagine that they aren't going to put out
- 15:24Speaker 2: there what they intend to. At least that's just my
- 15:26Speaker 2: initial read of it, but... That's what we saw. Again,
- 15:30Speaker 2: we heard from Akai Lemon. We heard from Jonathan Grenard.
- 15:33Speaker 2: We heard from Jalen Carter. I read for you a
- 15:35Speaker 2: lot of what Jalen Carter had to say. It was
- 15:37Speaker 2: good to hear from him. We hadn't heard from him
- 15:38Speaker 2: in a while. And with Grenard, if you were to
- 15:42Speaker 2: kind of read between the lines, it does feel like
- 15:44Speaker 2: he's maybe at minimum a week away, but he's trending
- 15:48Speaker 2: in the right direction. And when you see the injury
- 15:50Speaker 2: report read like it does, there's no setbacks. He's been
- 15:53Speaker 2: limited since the first media attended practice of the season.
- 15:57Speaker 2: which is obviously good news. They can surely use him
- 16:00Speaker 2: out there. Vic Fangio said that the pass rush needs
- 16:03Speaker 2: to get better. Jonathan Grenard's going to help that immensely,
- 16:08Speaker 2: certainly opening things up for the likes of Jalux Hunt
- 16:10Speaker 2: and Nolan Smith. So whenever he does return, you can
- 16:14Speaker 2: expect to see, you know, the payoff fairly early. And
- 16:19Speaker 2: if for no other reason than teams are going to
- 16:22Speaker 2: be aware of where he is on the field and
- 16:24Speaker 2: devote a lot of attention to Jonathan Grenard and He's,
- 16:29Speaker 2: when healthy, a premier pass rusher. But the last thing
- 16:31Speaker 2: you want to do, especially this early in the season,
- 16:34Speaker 2: is rush him out there if he's not operating at
- 16:37Speaker 2: full capacity, right? I mean, you don't want to run
- 16:40Speaker 2: the risk of re-aggravation. That starts the whole clock over again.
- 16:43Speaker 2: He is such a critical piece to this defense. And
- 16:47Speaker 2: with that injury, it can be fickle. And we talked
- 16:50Speaker 2: a lot about this in terms of just the endurance,
- 16:52Speaker 2: the stamina, the strength. required to play his position and
- 16:56Speaker 2: what that all entails, especially when you have a pec strain.
- 16:59Speaker 2: There's always so much you can do as it's recovering.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Nobody loves grilling more than me. It could be 30
- 17:04Speaker 3: degrees and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks.
- 17:07Speaker 3: But the one thing that I really can't stand is
- 17:10Speaker 3: losing my fish and my veggies because they just can't
- 17:13Speaker 3: grill without falling through. That's why I've been using Hexclad's
- 17:17Speaker 3: BBQ Collection. It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with products specifically
- 17:23Speaker 3: designed to make grilling easier, especially when you're cooking foods
- 17:26Speaker 3: that normally don't cooperate on a traditional grill. The hex
- 17:30Speaker 3: clad BBU grill plan combines the searing power of stainless steel,
- 17:34Speaker 3: durability of cast iron and the convenience of nonstick all
- 17:38Speaker 3: in one versatile, grill pan. They've also launched their new
- 17:41Speaker 3: BBQ Grill Topper. That gives you even more control when
- 17:44Speaker 3: you're cooking delicate foods like veggies or seafood, or if
- 17:48Speaker 3: you're cooking multiple portions.
- 17:50Speaker 1: At one time.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Last week, I grilled the best surf and turf my style,
