- 0:04Speaker 1: Alright, alright, Cayo alive from Philly. It's the Polly and
- 0:10Speaker 1: Tony Foolsco show. Yo always Polly Fousco here with Tony
- 0:16Speaker 1: Fusco and Tony Yo. Terrible developments out of the world
- 0:22Speaker 1: of college football, expanding the playoff and continuing to defecate
- 0:28Speaker 1: upon the proud sport and it's proud tradition. Uh, we're
- 0:31Speaker 1: gonna have college sports radio personality Aaron Torres, who have
- 0:36Speaker 1: never heard of until now you have heard of him. No,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I have no idea who that is. Well, he told
- 0:43Speaker 1: our producer that he doesn't like the playoff either, so
- 0:45Speaker 1: maybe he is a breaking or something. We'll find out whatever. Anyway,
- 0:48Speaker 1: some quick business up top before we get to our
- 0:51Speaker 1: top story. Today's episode is sponsored by our friends at
- 0:55Speaker 1: Zales Jewelers. Are you getting married, Nick, Zales Rulers your
- 1:00Speaker 1: go to with their thirty day refund policy? Isn't that right? Don't? Yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 1: you are already getting married, which is horrible. Don't make
- 1:10Speaker 1: it worse by not going to zails, zails if you
- 1:15Speaker 1: can't afford a pre nup, zails. Okay, now that we
- 1:19Speaker 1: got that business out of the way, let's get into
- 1:21Speaker 1: our top story story huge changes coming to the sport
- 1:30Speaker 1: of college football as it struggles to stay relevant. The
- 1:34Speaker 1: College Football Playoff announced that in the year it will
- 1:39Speaker 1: be expanding from four to twelve teams. And this is
- 1:42Speaker 1: another step in the wrong direction. You know, Tony and
- 1:46Speaker 1: I not only believe this is a bad idea. As
- 1:49Speaker 1: you know, we have never supported the idea of a
- 1:53Speaker 1: playoff in the first place. Isn't that right done? It's
- 1:57Speaker 1: disgraceful they've thrown away to our tradition of the sport.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It made so much more sense when we let the
- 2:04Speaker 1: champions be decided by the people who know best. Of course,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I'm talking about coaches and old sportswriters. Do you really
- 2:14Speaker 1: think that the national championship can be decided on the field?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Absolutely not. Now, you know the other problem with these
- 2:22Speaker 1: these playoffs. Every game is a blowout. There's no suspense.
- 2:26Speaker 1: You know, we looked up the stats before the show
- 2:28Speaker 1: the average margin of victory in the playoffs. It's forty
- 2:31Speaker 1: nine points. It's pathetic. And you know, you know, don't
- 2:35Speaker 1: e when there was actually suspense? Yep, back in the
- 2:39Speaker 1: late eighties, when you'll found out the college national champion
- 2:43Speaker 1: after the ball games by slowly opening up the newspaper
- 2:47Speaker 1: around eight am on Monday, depending to Section C and
- 2:51Speaker 1: looking at the updated rankings. It did not get better
- 2:55Speaker 1: than nothing, Isn't that right? Yeah? And the best part
- 2:59Speaker 1: about that system is that sometimes they didn't even crown
- 3:02Speaker 1: an outright winner. You had ties, which means you've got
- 3:06Speaker 1: something even better than a national champion. You had two
- 3:10Speaker 1: national champions, which means more people could be happy. You know,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I've always said, if we want to solve the political
- 3:19Speaker 1: problems in this country, why not have two presidents. That way,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you could be like, hey, I'm not listening to that guy,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna listen to the other president. Food for thought.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Well said that, Dony, And Well, let's just move on
- 3:36Speaker 1: right now to another big story controversy in the world
- 3:40Speaker 1: of pro football. You know, we addressed this last week,
- 3:43Speaker 1: but there's a new development. Ram's defensive end Aaron Donald
- 3:47Speaker 1: swinging two helmets at Bengals players. Now there are people
- 3:52Speaker 1: like Mike Boreo over at Pro Football Talk claiming that
- 3:55Speaker 1: this was somehow assault and that Aaron Donald should be
- 3:59Speaker 1: suspect and did. Now in the midst of this fire storm,
- 4:02Speaker 1: Aaron Donald is now refusing to apologize saying it was quote,
- 4:07Speaker 1: just practice, and we one degree with Aaron Donald. Isn't
- 4:12Speaker 1: that right? Though? Of course, doesn't anybody realize Aaron Donald
- 4:16Speaker 1: was doing the Bengals a huge favor. Practice is all
- 4:20Speaker 1: about preparation, and he was helping the Bengals prepare properly
- 4:25Speaker 1: for a f C North divisional games, where as we
- 4:28Speaker 1: all know, players routinely try to decapitate each other at
- 4:32Speaker 1: least two or three times a game. If anything, I
- 4:36Speaker 1: think the Bengals should be thanking Aaron Donald absolutely. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: you know this makes me concerned frankly about the people
- 4:43Speaker 1: running the Bengals and that coach, that coach they got there,
- 4:47Speaker 1: who looks like he still hasn't hit puberty. You know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: if I was coaching that team and the player actually
- 4:52Speaker 1: came to me and complain about having a helmet swung
- 4:56Speaker 1: at him, you know what I'd say, I'd say, you cut,
- 4:59Speaker 1: go play plaid football, you clown. Yeah, I got tull
- 5:02Speaker 1: words for you. Tull hand touch women. And you know, Tony,
- 5:07Speaker 1: another thing that's just terrible about the story. You know,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Mike Boreo and all these other idiots out there, they're
- 5:13Speaker 1: called by Aaron Donald to be suspended ridiculously for what
- 5:18Speaker 1: you know. People always say preseason doesn't matter, right, Well,
- 5:21Speaker 1: now suddenly it matters exactly. You have to choose one
- 5:24Speaker 1: or the other, don't your Tony. This is why they
- 5:28Speaker 1: say you can't have your cake and then let other
- 5:31Speaker 1: people eat your cake. If we start saying preseason matters,
- 5:35Speaker 1: then what's next? Where does it stop? Are you gonna
- 5:38Speaker 1: make teams have a ninety three man roster? Are you
- 5:41Speaker 1: gonna make the Hall of Fame game, the super Bowl?
- 5:44Speaker 1: It's a very slippery slope, and you have to be
- 5:48Speaker 1: very careful, well, said Tony. All around there. All right,
- 5:52Speaker 1: let's move to another story. Final story from the NBA.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Uh Genie Buss the lake has owing. You know. She
- 5:59Speaker 1: was on a podcast this week and she said that
- 6:02Speaker 1: last year, this is a quote, Russell Westbrook was the
- 6:05Speaker 1: Lakers best player. Now, after a social media fire, stoke erupted.
- 6:10Speaker 1: She backtracked and said she meant to say most consistent.
- 6:14Speaker 1: But Tony, there was no reason to backtrack at all.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Isn't that right? One percent? Anyone who knows anything about
- 6:22Speaker 1: basketball knows the most important stat of them all, which
- 6:25Speaker 1: is games played. Russell Westbrook led the team with seventy
- 6:30Speaker 1: eight games played, while Lebron James only played in like
- 6:33Speaker 1: twenty three games because he's lazy. It's like the great
- 6:38Speaker 1: Audie Allen said before everyone realized he was a weirdo.
- 6:42Speaker 1: He said, one hundred percent of success is showing up.
- 6:46Speaker 1: If you don't show up, how can you have success?
- 6:50Speaker 1: So perfectly said Tony. And you know, it's so easy
- 6:53Speaker 1: to see why Genie Buss would say this about Russell Westbrook,
- 6:56Speaker 1: because you watch him play, You'll see him in the
- 6:58Speaker 1: fourth quarter so gased, so tired that he's barely able
- 7:03Speaker 1: to run up and down the court. You know, he's
- 7:05Speaker 1: barely able to put two legs in front of each other.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You know, he's barely able to lift a basketball and
- 7:11Speaker 1: then even shoot it remotely close to the basket. And
- 7:15Speaker 1: you know that is when you know he's the best
- 7:17Speaker 1: player on the course. Isn't that totally obvious? Don'ty? Of course,
- 7:22Speaker 1: this is a huge problem in society today, people thinking
- 7:26Speaker 1: we should celebrate people for working less. This is why
- 7:30Speaker 1: I never understood when people say work smarter, not harder.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Don't you get smart by working harder? That should be
- 7:39Speaker 1: totally obvious. And you know, we see this problem in
- 7:42Speaker 1: all of sports, don't we don'ty, you know, look no
- 7:44Speaker 1: further than the laziest athletes in the world. Of course,
- 7:48Speaker 1: of talking about Major League Baseball pitchers, how have we
- 7:52Speaker 1: come to accept that it's okay for a pitcher to
- 7:55Speaker 1: pitch every four or five games. Imagine if you worked
- 7:58Speaker 1: in an office and you showed up once a week,
- 8:00Speaker 1: your colleagues would hate you. That's why I can't understand
- 8:04Speaker 1: why we give pitches the Cy Young Award. You know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Cy Young used to pitch like two hundred games a year.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Wouldn't it make more sense to give them the I
- 8:12Speaker 1: don't know, the Mitch Williams Award or something accurate like that.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Great idea, Tony. And you know, I'd love to discuss
- 8:21Speaker 1: this more, but I see our guests coming on the line,
- 8:24Speaker 1: So let's find out who this guy is and will
- 8:26Speaker 1: bring him on the FUSCO satellite network. Alright, our guest
- 8:33Speaker 1: is what you'd call an up and comer in the industry.
- 8:36Speaker 1: All right, you know, he's still got a long way
- 8:38Speaker 1: to go, but he's trying. He's the host of the
- 8:40Speaker 1: eron thres podcast, which I've admittedly never listened though, but
- 8:45Speaker 1: you know, Yeah. He's also a host on Fox Sports
- 8:48Speaker 1: Radio on weekends and late nights, you know, when nobody's listening. Anyway,
- 8:51Speaker 1: let's just bring him on here, Aaron Dores, Welcome to
- 8:54Speaker 1: the show. You know, I've had a lot of introductions
- 8:58Speaker 1: in my illustrious career. That was definitely that was definitely
- 9:02Speaker 1: one of them, for sure, no doubt about it. I'll
- 9:04Speaker 1: take that as a compliment. Welcome. That's how you go it. Anyway.
- 9:07Speaker 1: You're told our producer before hand you you don't like
- 9:10Speaker 1: the twelve team playoff, Like, we don't, all right, we
- 9:12Speaker 1: like where you're going with this, so tell us your
- 9:15Speaker 1: reasoning there. Well, um, I like the four team playoff,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and the main reason being we have yet no no, yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 1: they're all blowouts. You're like watching You're like watching a
- 9:30Speaker 1: fifty point blowout, you know, is that what you like?
- 9:33Speaker 1: You like? You know, year old up, a four year old.
- 9:36Speaker 1: That's when you like, we're gonna get more of that
- 9:38Speaker 1: when we get twelve teams. We can't even get four
- 9:40Speaker 1: teams that you could pete for a championship. Correct answer
- 9:44Speaker 1: is to have no playoff? Yeah, yeah, go back. You
- 9:50Speaker 1: know you probably don't remember this because you look like
- 9:52Speaker 1: you're seventeen years old old. But you know, in the
- 9:55Speaker 1: old days, nineties, eighties, ninety nineties, you used to wake
- 9:58Speaker 1: up and and you'd find out, are you still reading
- 10:04Speaker 1: a newspaper over there, Joey? And you have some respect
- 10:07Speaker 1: for the people who the sports right foot you? Yeah?
- 10:12Speaker 1: Does the A P still exist? Is that's still a thing?
- 10:15Speaker 1: What are we doing here, big, Big? We're not going
- 10:20Speaker 1: to settle it on the field. We're just gonna let
- 10:23Speaker 1: belly some party with who a hundred and twenty pound
- 10:31Speaker 1: sixty year old men who knew yeah better than anybody
- 10:36Speaker 1: generation your voice. We're not gonna settle it on the field.
- 10:39Speaker 1: What's the heck? Okay? So we're just gonna see you
- 10:44Speaker 1: keep interrupting me, Can you just can you not interrupt
- 10:47Speaker 1: them trying to tell you teach you son? Alright? Please?
- 10:51Speaker 1: The way to answer it is you have experts in
- 10:54Speaker 1: this business. They look, they look at the teams and
- 10:56Speaker 1: they tell you who the three or four best teams are.
- 10:59Speaker 1: That's all you need to know. You don't need the game.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Game tells you nothing exactly. The game tells you nothing really.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So like when Georgia lost to Alabama and then they
- 11:12Speaker 1: came back and beat him that game? What what what
- 11:14Speaker 1: did that told us? Nothing? Yeah, because I wasn't watching
- 11:16Speaker 1: because I had tooomed out, Like I'm out now, you
- 11:19Speaker 1: better give me some better points. Here we are? We
- 11:24Speaker 1: are we going back to bowl games like we're playing
- 11:26Speaker 1: the Gator Bowl. Like you said, the road tradition, no respecting,
- 11:32Speaker 1: no respect. Well, here's you, guys. What do you want
- 11:36Speaker 1: to say? Do you guys sound like partispant You see
- 11:39Speaker 1: you sound like the new age gen z. Everybody gets
- 11:42Speaker 1: a partispa. You sound like you're about to get Tell
- 11:46Speaker 1: him what sounds like? Because guess what you want to
- 11:51Speaker 1: off show? Yeah? Yeah, generations? Jay? Is he off the line?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Hang up the phone. I'd like to go back to
- 12:09Speaker 1: the point where I had never heard of him. Yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 1: Aaron Porrez more like Aaron Borez. Good one, Tony. Anyway,
- 12:18Speaker 1: all right, we're not gonna thank him, but as we
- 12:20Speaker 1: wrapped the show here, we are going to thank our
- 12:23Speaker 1: terrific friends at Zales. You kidding me? If it's someone
- 12:29Speaker 1: who will never walk inside of Zales Jewelers because he's lonely,
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Mr lonely corrections guy. Yeah, we know to
- 12:38Speaker 1: worry already. You said Lebron James was lazy yep, and
- 12:43Speaker 1: only played in twenty three games last season. Yeah yeah, No,
- 12:48Speaker 1: he played in fifty six games. And for the record,
- 12:51Speaker 1: he ever won in thirty points and eight rebounds a game,
- 12:54Speaker 1: so he's not exactly lazy. Oh yeah, well, for the record,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you average less than zero good ideas per episode. Yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 1: we're gonna lay you on the ground, then drive a
- 13:07Speaker 1: Nissan Z over your limp body. Now that's it. One
- 13:15Speaker 1: Young never pitched two hundred games in a season, that's
- 13:19Speaker 1: absolutely videos. According to you, the mostly ever pitched in
- 13:22Speaker 1: the season was fifty and over his career he usually
- 13:26Speaker 1: started about forty games this season. So yeah, you were
- 13:30Speaker 1: off five about five? Oh yeah, well your face is
- 13:35Speaker 1: off by two thou percent. Yeah, si Young, it's gonna
- 13:40Speaker 1: be si ya nara when I kill you after the show.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Now that's what done. Harry up, you said what the
- 13:50Speaker 1: Allen said of success is showing up? Yeah he did
- 13:55Speaker 1: a great quote. No, he said showing up is of
- 14:00Speaker 1: life would make no sense, and that would mean like
- 14:06Speaker 1: you just show up and do nothing, and I know
- 14:09Speaker 1: what you're gonna say. Oh yeah, well, don't worry. I'm
- 14:11Speaker 1: gonna say it. You're not gonna stop me. I'm still
- 14:15Speaker 1: gonna say that. Your native American name is show up
- 14:19Speaker 1: and do nothing. My native American name is puts up
- 14:23Speaker 1: with shitty producer. There you go, All right, then look
- 14:27Speaker 1: at him, he's all hurt poly he's all go cry
- 14:31Speaker 1: in your feeling. Anyway, we got good news on this podcast.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Finally got through to the cults. They apologized and offered
- 14:38Speaker 1: up Nick folks. Next week he'll be on the show.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And hey, don't forget to follow us on many social
- 14:47Speaker 1: media worldwide. I'm global and they don't. Great job as all.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Same to you, Polly, another foolish show. There you go.
- 14:58Speaker 1: We'll see if people next week. Sick Yacht
