- 1:50that was super interesting. IC 3 Brock is here.
- 1:54What up? What up?
- 1:55Or ICB 3 rock. 3B rock. So let's get on with the
- 2:01pleasantries. As always.

- 2:57like and subscribe to us. We will follow you back if you
- 2:59follow us. I know it's a little old
- 3:01fashioned, but I still do care. We always start this with the
- 3:04announcements, so let's get right into it.
- 3:08Of course it is Star Wars weekend.
- 3:13The Mandalorian and Grogu hit movies tonight.
- 3:17I am probably not going to get to see it until later next week
- 3:20or next weekend just because my schedule will not allow what up,
- 3:23Eli Santana, Good to see you here, homie.
- 3:27Former interviewee on our show. But yeah, tell me if you're
- 3:31excited about Star Wars. I'm clearly excited, although in
- 3:35the thumbnail I am wearing a Terminator shirt, so I
- 3:37definitely have crossed the streams on my things.
- 3:41Dre Booker is here. What up, Dre?
- 3:43Good to see you again. Yeah, let's see.
- 3:47Let's see, let's see. Making sure I got all the
- 3:55devices on. Aria, Lana.
- 3:58Aria Lala is here. Opposite that, right?
- 4:00Queen Minsky is here, making sure all the things are working
- 4:04appropriately as they're supposed to.
- 4:06All right, all the things. Do all the things.
- 4:16That's what we always do. So Mandalorian and Grogu is out
- 4:19now. I'm just embigging this for the
- 4:22moment. Mr. Monowore is here.
- 4:26Chocolate Mousse 6 is here. Rob Benning, thanks for
- 4:30watching. Tell me what you're pumped about
- 4:32this week in rock and metal or what you're mad about.
- 4:35I've got plenty of shit I'm mad about and equally pumped about
- 4:39Bakken metal battle, which goes called as a partner and our
- 4:43co-owner Omar Cordy hosted in Brooklyn.
- 4:45What's up cat metal battle East Coast winner the Victoria is
- 4:51Dead has won the East Coast final winner to go to Brick by
- 4:57brick in San Diego to compete to go to Vakken in Germany.
- 5:02Kickdown is here. What up kickdown Hardcore
- 5:04Indigenous eye is here. Very cool and congratulations to
- 5:09them once again. We recently hit pass 1,900,000
- 5:16viewers on YouTube. That is over 13 years.
- 5:20So I know that a lot of people just get like 1,000,000 views, a
- 5:24video, but I'm just grateful to do what I do.
- 5:31What's up, Ron, Ron Kron. OK, So what else?
- 5:41Just a reminder, our album of the month this month is
- 5:44Corrosion of Conformity for their brand new album that came
- 5:47out last month, Good God, Bad Man on Nuclear Blast Records.
- 5:51We've got an interview with Bobby Landgraf, their new
- 5:54bassist on our channel. You can check that out too.
- 6:00So pretty, pretty tight right there.
- 6:04Also also we dropped a couple of premieres this week.
- 6:06Really proud of this one. Pandemic Unleashed is a Southern
- 6:10California long running South Southern California thrash and
- 6:13Hard Rock band and Ghost Cults own Morgan Y Evans is the
- 6:19vocalist of that group and Co songwriter.
- 6:23And they dropped a brand new single Drowning their first with
- 6:25Morgan on vocals. And they've been touring and not
- 6:29quite on tour but opening a lot of regional shows in Southern
- 6:34California. GAIL Elliott is here, Annette is
- 6:36here. What up, what up, what up Davion
- 6:42Justine. It's nice to see some late
- 6:45nighters filtering through on all the channels.
- 6:49Good to see you also also, this is a Mr. Mantal.
- 6:54They well, Captain Mantel. They dropped a new single at
- 6:58Ghost Cult. They have a new album coming out
- 7:00soon, Not human. Very exciting stuff for them.
- 7:03That's on OverDrive Records. Last week we dropped the new
- 7:05single from Band Guides, the Pittsburgh power trio post
- 7:10hardcore band for fans of Poison the Well and bands like that.
- 7:15They dropped the new single Drain some metal history.
- 7:20And we always start with kind of the sad news first.
- 7:23Chris Cornell's anniversary of his passing.
- 7:26Almost 10 years gone. Nine years passed away.
- 7:29Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog
- 7:33and his awesome solo career. Very sad.
- 7:35I never really recovered from Chris passing away.
- 7:40I've been doing a lot of Soundgarden and Chris Cornell
- 7:44and Audioslave at karaoke. I do some metal karaoke that I
- 7:49host as well as attend. Also.
- 7:52It was the 16th anniversary of the death of Ronnie James Dio.
- 7:56Super sad. You know, he died really young
- 8:01and at 67 and we are just losing all our heroes.
- 8:05But 16 years now. Joey Ramone would have
- 8:10celebrated his 75th birthday. And it was a big bash in New
- 8:13York City from his brother Mickey Lee and really cool cast
- 8:19of characters that came out to celebrate Joey and the Ramones,
- 8:23of course, also Doctor Cook legend.
- 8:28This is this one kind of surprised me.
- 8:30But again, it's like sort of the rung of artists that I don't
- 8:34always think about. You know, I hate to sound like
- 8:39that, but sometimes it's just like, oh, I don't know.
- 8:43I don't know everything and I don't know everybody, but Dennis
- 8:47Locieri died at 76. I don't have the details on how,
- 8:52but I think it was after an illness.
- 8:55Moose is passing by. What up?
- 8:57What up, What up? Good to see you.
- 9:00Thanks for stopping by. We're doing Rocket Metal News
- 9:03for the weekend. Some birthdays this week.
- 9:06Trent Reznor and Josh Ham both celebrated a birthday on Sunday.
- 9:14What's up Rob? Good to see you Kenny from Type
- 9:19O Negative and Sun Don't shine. His birthdays today.
- 9:21A lot of birthdays this week. Where were you on May 20th,
- 9:271996? Because that's when Metallica
- 9:29dropped Until it sleeps. I know I was freaking out
- 9:33because this was not my Metallica, but you know in in
- 9:36the end I ended up liking Load and Reload.
- 9:38I don't love them, but I like them.
- 9:39They have some great songs. I think they would have been
- 9:41better as one whole album. But tell me, do you load is
- 9:46getting reload and load got a real a new box set?
- 9:51There's a lot of anniversary stuff going on for Load as it is
- 9:54the 30th anniversary of Load. Oh my God, crazy that Freeman
- 10:00guy is here. Albums celebrating a
- 10:04anniversary. Also this week in metal and
- 10:07rock, Paradise Lost in Requiem Paradise Lost in there like 800
- 10:12albums. Sabotage.
- 10:14This one was a class like right when I was really starting to
- 10:18get into progressive metal. This is a real gem.
- 10:24Let's see what else? Flotsam and Jetsam No place for
- 10:31disgrace. A classic thrash metal album
- 10:33Jason Newstead had right before he joined Metallica.
- 10:37I had Co wrote the 1st 2 Flotsam and Jetsam albums so pretty
- 10:41killer. Pretty killer.
- 10:45Great stuff still holds up. Kiss Revenge dropped this week
- 10:49in 1991. One of their best albums of the
- 10:54latest. Their 80s stuff is so bad that
- 10:57that one just kicked ass out of the gate.
- 10:59There is some cringy lyrics on there like all Kiss albums, but
- 11:02wow, pretty banging. All right, what else?
- 11:11Megadeth's united abominations Kind of a middle period for
- 11:16Megadeth where Dave was kind of leading the band by himself.
- 11:24I don't really take any Co hosts on TikTok y'all.
- 11:28I just kind of host my show. But if you want to conversate,
- 11:31drop questions, drop comments, I'm here for it.
- 11:35Motörhead, we are Motörhead. This is a live album.
- 11:38I think kind of the reason I'm not more psyched about all these
- 11:41Motörhead posthumous releases from the band is because it was
- 11:47so many live albums that are classic, everything louder than
- 11:50everyone else. And so I am a little bummed that
- 11:53that all of this Motörhead stuff or these tapes and demos and
- 11:58things, those are cool. But I think the new live albums
- 12:01I'm not super jazzed about unless they're start coming out
- 12:05with better quality. Two Dio albums came out this
- 12:10week in Rock and metal history. We talked about the passing of
- 12:14Dio, Lock Up the Wolves, and Killing the Dragon.
- 12:18Pretty interesting albums. Neither of them at the top of my
- 12:22list, but we recently did a Dio series on my other podcasts,
- 12:27Sacred Reich, The American Way. This was a humongous album for
- 12:32me as a teenage crossover thrash fan.
- 12:35I still love this band. I can't wait to see them again.
- 12:37New album coming out soon. Marcus Johnson.
- 12:41Brenda, what up Sylvester, what's going on?
- 12:45Just doing some Rocket Metal news late night here on the West
- 12:48Coast in America. Let me know where you're at.
- 12:50Let me know what you're listening to or what you're
- 12:53interested in talking about. War Bringer dropped the banger.
- 12:57This was a real waking into nightmares.
- 13:03This isn't tremendous album for 2009 thrash and that's the metal
- 13:09history in the announcements part of the show.
- 13:12I will put myself back on screen yo once again, even though we
- 13:16have some advertising brought to you by some affiliates and some
- 13:21sales, we do love to get some tips.
- 13:26You can either give us a super like or a super chat on YouTube
- 13:31or you could hit any of the things we do and share cash app,
- 13:35Kofi, Venmo, PayPal, whatever. Again, I'm always appreciative
- 13:41of whatever people want to share.
- 13:46All right, appreciate you, Marcus.
- 13:52All right, Peter is also here. Husky hustle 284 is here full
- 13:57name. There's our cash app case you're
- 14:00curious, man, I'm up late. I got a whole ass thing to do
- 14:04tomorrow, so I better finish this up soon.
- 14:06All right, I did go live earlier in the week.
- 14:08Also late at night, I reviewed the new Iron Maiden Burning
- 14:12Ambition documentary. I had some many spicy thoughts
- 14:15and takes. Let me know if you saw it.
- 14:17Let me know what you think of it.
- 14:19We'll get a written review up next week.
- 14:21I also, I'll talk about it in a minute or two, but I saw the new
- 14:27Beyond Creation documentary, which was fucking ridiculous.
- 14:36Anyway, what first got me in the metal?
- 14:39Well, that's a good question. I had an older brother that was
- 14:42into classic rock and Hard Rock and progressive rock.
- 14:45So as a little little kid I was into very nerdy music.
- 14:48But I have very fond memories of being like two or three years
- 14:52old and hearing the very opening to War Pigs at like top volume.
- 14:56My parents were clearly not home or they would have screamed at
- 14:59my late brother. But that bass slide just change
- 15:06my whole fucking DNA as a person at 3:00 because I wasn't in
- 15:11diapers. I was like running around in my
- 15:13tight, my underoos and my white T-shirt in the projects in New
- 15:17York City, in the Bronx. And yeah, that put me on the
- 15:21path. Man, I'd be, I was a big KISS
- 15:23fan as a little kid and then I started to get my own musical
- 15:26identity as I got into elementary school.
- 15:29I liked a lot of pop music and and rap and things like that,
- 15:33but I really became kind of an aware heavy meddler as a late
- 15:38teen, early teen Maiden priest. Obviously Sabbath.
- 15:43I was so mad that Ozzy got kicked out of Sabbath.
- 15:45I didn't listen to the DO Sabbath right away.
- 15:48I came back to that later. I was like much more into Born
- 15:51Again. I know that's like sacrilege,
- 15:54but I love Ian Gillan and I love Born Again.
- 15:56And then I kind of went back and discovered how great Dio was,
- 15:59and those albums are awesome and certainly much better than the
- 16:02last few albums before that with Ozzy.
- 16:05But I also love Ozzy. We have some Ozzy news coming up
- 16:09soon that I'm pretty pissed about.
- 16:10Last week I did a live stream about Jason Newsted's sort of
- 16:14new take on his exit from Metallica, which is hella
- 16:18interesting. Definitely new information we
- 16:20did not have before. Now we do.
- 16:23We'll be doing some more live streams next week.
- 16:25There's some huge albums coming out this week and next week
- 16:28maybe I'll do some more album reviews.
- 16:29Tell me what you would watch me review.
- 16:33I'm 53 years old. I saw a lot of cool bands.
- 16:35I I didn't see all the cool bands, but I saw most of them.
- 16:39I've interviewed over 1000 bands on my podcast between this
- 16:44website and a previous couple that I did.
- 16:48Ultimate Sin, just dude, you know, down on earth, Ultimate
- 16:52Sin here on YouTube. Let me put your comment up.
- 16:54Just curious, what are your thoughts on Down on Earth?
- 16:56You know, down on Earth, the later era Ozzy stuff was solid.
- 17:00I think it did what it had to do.
- 17:02I love that he got a little bit of love at the end there with
- 17:05the Grammy stuff with Andrew Watt and Posty and things like
- 17:09that. Those are more like rock records
- 17:12that are not as metal to me. There's a little bit of darkness
- 17:15and metallic, you know, flavor on them down.
- 17:19And it's OK. I think by then, I, I, I think,
- 17:23I wish, I wish Ozzy had made more Zack Wylde albums and let
- 17:28Zack actually like drive the bus.
- 17:31But, you know, it's complicated. You know, Ozzy has some albums
- 17:36that are just absolute bangers and then sort of a little bit of
- 17:40diminishing returns in the 80s when he was wild on drugs and
- 17:43touring and stuff. And then, you know, No More
- 17:45Tears and Osmosis to me are awesome.
- 17:48And I really love those. Those are probably like the last
- 17:51two super highly rated albums that I have for Oz.
- 17:54But Marcus, I'll tell you, you're 20 and you grew up on new
- 17:58metal, Dude, I love new metal and I love a lot of hair metal
- 18:01and glam rock too. New metals.
- 18:03The shit, bro. I saw Korn on one of their first
- 18:06tours ever. I was early into Deftones.
- 18:08I saw them open for Anthrax on the Adrenaline album.
- 18:12And honestly, I was late getting into System of a Down.
- 18:14There are other bands that I like more than them and I've
- 18:16come around on them a lot and I love them now and I I think
- 18:19they're just better live. Thank you, Ultimate Sin.
- 18:21Thank you Marcus for your questions.
- 18:24I hope I answered them. Well, new interviews this week
- 18:27and I want to say like I'm just lucky to do what I do after all
- 18:30these years. Absolutely humbled to do what I
- 18:34do. We have brand new interviews
- 18:35this week. We interviewed King Ultra Mega
- 18:39with Mark Menge and brand Dollar Mastodon.
- 18:41So I finally got to talk to a Mastodon person in an interview
- 18:44setting. I've met the guys in the band
- 18:46and I like Brent a lot. Very sad he passed away, but
- 18:51really cool. And that King Ultra Mega is a
- 18:54tribute to Chris Cornell's music and stuff like that.
- 18:57No, dude, you're great. You're great.
- 18:59I got you, I got you. I'll get your answer in a
- 19:01second. I just want to bang through this
- 19:02section of the show and then that's kind of what I do.
- 19:05I bang through little sections and then I pause and answer
- 19:07questions. I got you ultimate sin.
- 19:09Don't worry about it. So Bran from Mastodon had done a
- 19:12vocal cover with King Ultra Mega of dead wishes of Cornell's solo
- 19:16music song. And that was Bronze Mom's
- 19:20favorite song and she died just a few months ago.
- 19:22So it's like a new Mastodon coming up soon.
- 19:25Sounds like it's going to be very depressing.
- 19:27And yeah, just very humble to get to interview.
- 19:31Mengi loves ghost cult and we love Mengi.
- 19:33I went to oh, it was broken hearted man.
- 19:37Marcus asked on TikTok. What I what I'll I'll just
- 19:40because it's relevant to this. What did I think when Cornell
- 19:43died? I was at a metal festival when
- 19:45the news about Cornell dying came out.
- 19:48I was covering Chicago Open Air, which was a Danny Wimmer
- 19:51festival. They did a few times and I think
- 19:54it was headlined by Ozzy and and Rob Zombie and Kiss, which was
- 19:59weird. And Slayer was there.
- 20:03And there's like a famous picture of me, famous among my
- 20:06peeps of me, like eating a plate of nachos while Slayer is
- 20:09playing behind me, which is fun. I was broken hearted, man.
- 20:14I love Soundgarden and I love Chris Cornell, but the check out
- 20:17King Ultra Mega. They've got a bunch of covers.
- 20:19Eventually it's going to be a full album on Raining Phoenix
- 20:21music. And then also I have a brand new
- 20:26interview with Sun Don't Shine. Sun Don't Shine who has one of
- 20:29the best albums of 2026. That's why I just keep saying in
- 20:322026 Sun Don't Shine is members of Type O, Negative down,
- 20:36Crowbar and more. And I interviewed Kenny, Hickey,
- 20:40Kenny and Ghost Coco way back, Johnny Kelly and Kenny, huge
- 20:43Typo fan. I saw them.
- 20:45I probably saw them 10 times, but I could have seen him like
- 20:48100 times because they used to play so much in New York.
- 20:51And I was just like, you know, I would go see other bands because
- 20:54I was like, well, Typo, you can always go see them.
- 20:56And then Peter passed away. But a great interview.
- 20:58And if you love Typo Negative, we got a bit of a scoop about
- 21:04the new Typo Negative live album that's coming out.
- 21:07So you should check out that interview on YouTube.
- 21:10And now let me answer ultimate sin stuff and then I'll get back
- 21:13to you. Marcus, keep keep hanging in
- 21:15there with me, buddy. So ultimate sin Doug, the 80s Oz
- 21:20obviously didn't hate anything. He sort of helped me, you know,
- 21:24WASP, I was a huge fan. And then Blackie is such a
- 21:27douche and Chris Holmes is a horrible racist piece of shit.
- 21:30I love the WASP, like in high school, and I saw them a couple
- 21:34of years ago because it was like, oh, the 40th anniversary
- 21:36of WASP. And, you know, I interviewed Dee
- 21:39Snyder about his censorship meeting on Congress with John
- 21:45Denver and Frank Zappa. So WASP comes up quite a lot.
- 21:51Interesting. My life contains some themes
- 21:53that some may find uncomfortable, harassment and
- 21:56bullying. I don't know if someone's trying
- 21:57to bully me or I'm seem to be bullying someone else.
- 22:00I'm definitely not bullying anybody here, bro.
- 22:03We have a safe space. That's cool for everybody.
- 22:05But anyway, let's see. Another random is Molly Hatchet.
- 22:09I love Molly Hatchet. You know, it's funny.
- 22:12They came up on my other podcast, the Glacially Musical
- 22:15podcast. Beer, metal and swearing,
- 22:17sometimes hockey, Kevin Smith, movie, Star Wars references, Lot
- 22:21of cum jokes, lot of Dick and cum jokes for a bunch of
- 22:23middle-aged guys. But Blackie's a cunt, bro.
- 22:27But anyway, and then I do. I love Acid Bath and I'm so
- 22:30stoked I'm going to see them in a couple of weeks.
- 22:32Finally. I saw them once way back in the
- 22:34day, and then they broke up and I was a big fan of Soy Link
- 22:39Green and Acid Bath and all. And Shell Shock and Shell Shock
- 22:42became Crowbar and Soy Link. Green went on to do Goat Whore
- 22:45and now Acid Bath is back. I'm so pumped to see them again.
- 22:50I'm going to like fucking, maybe cry.
- 22:53And I'd love to interview Dax. I hung out to, I hung out with
- 22:57Sammy a bunch of times. We were like drinking a handle
- 22:59of vodka at Maryland Death Fest 2018.
- 23:03So I am overdue for an interview with Sammy.
- 23:05Maybe I can grab him. I know Dax hates the press.
- 23:08We also recently had an interview with Barney Greenway
- 23:11of Napalm Death. Or we're on tour right now.
- 23:13We're covering them tomorrow on a boat cruise in New York City.
- 23:16Tomorrow night our homie Robbie Grodin is going to cover them.
- 23:21And we interviewed Barney Tom Osman, who manages our reviews
- 23:27team in the UK. He kind of looks and sounds like
- 23:30James Bond. He's very, he's very posh
- 23:32sounding. He teaches at Oxford and he's an
- 23:35editor. He's a music humongous music
- 23:36nerd and makes music and he's kind of a genius.
- 23:40And he interviewed Barney about their new album.
- 23:42They have a collab album out right now with Melvin's, which
- 23:47is fucking insane and so good. Your first concert, Acid bath in
- 23:52Nashville, Marcus, man, that's amazing.
- 23:54And I love teach them. Teach them while they're young.
- 23:57That's an amazing first concert for you.
- 23:59Dax is a genius, a lyrical genius.
- 24:01The band is great. I'm so happy for you.
- 24:04Come back and jump on another live stream and tell us how it
- 24:07was or come back and drop us Adm like I'd love to hear about your
- 24:11experience. Marcus and Nashville, man, we
- 24:14have a team there. We should cover some more stuff
- 24:16there. Recently we interviewed Chad
- 24:18Green, a frozen Soul. His dad passed away.
- 24:22His brother's also in that band. Their dad passed away this week.
- 24:25So there's a GoFundMe one for that.
- 24:26I'll see if I can find it here quickly.
- 24:28But my partner Omar interviewed Chad, Frozen Soul.
- 24:32We've been fans of them from the very beginning.
- 24:34One of the best younger death metal bands, even though they've
- 24:37been around for a long time. Can I roll with King Diamond's
- 24:40voice? Those first two Merciful Fate
- 24:42albums bring you to hard, bring you into hardcore soul
- 24:45rock'n'roll. You know what, man?
- 24:49There was a group of my friends growing up that used to gig on
- 24:51King Diamond. But you cannot buck with King
- 24:54Diamond in terms of the greatness of the character and
- 24:58the storytelling and the songs. Gina is here, what's up?
- 25:03Gina Sanchez and TV collects is still here.
- 25:05What up? What up?
- 25:06What up? Yeah, man, King, I can hang with
- 25:08the voice. Do I sit and listen to King
- 25:10Diamond for like 20 hours a day? No.
- 25:11But I love some of those King Diamond and Merciful Fate
- 25:14records. And I finally got to see
- 25:16Merciful Fate for the first time since the 90s a few years back
- 25:21at Psycho Las Vegas, which is now not does not exist anymore.
- 25:24I'd love to meet King. And I am hopeful eventually that
- 25:27King will put out a new solo record or, you know, supposedly
- 25:30A Merciful Fate record. I'm just hoping it comes, you
- 25:33know, sooner or later. All right.
- 25:36Also I mentioned the other podcast, Glacially musical.
- 25:39Check it out. Beer, metal and squaring.
- 25:41We are finishing our series on ACDC this week.
- 25:45It's going to come out in the morning super pumped for that.
- 25:48And then we're going to take a chaser episode where we talk
- 25:50about vinyl and vinyl care. I'm going to unbox some vinyl
- 25:54and some merch in a few minutes in about toward the end of the
- 25:58show. But yeah, man, the ACDC series
- 26:02has been interesting. They had one of the most
- 26:03interesting early because they're just a Bond Scott album.
- 26:06So interesting. Their record label kind of shat
- 26:09on them all the time and it just made them hostile and angry, and
- 26:13they channeled that anger into songwriting.
- 26:15So yeah, man, I love King Diamond.
- 26:17Marcus asked. What movie do I think has the
- 26:19best metal soundtrack? Judgement Night comes to mind.
- 26:24The Crow hit an anniversary last week, The 32nd anniversary.
- 26:32Oh, there's a few of them. I mean, not necessarily metal,
- 26:36but Singles is a great grunge and Hard Rock and alternative
- 26:39rock soundtrack. Almost Famous is one of my
- 26:42favorite movies because obviously it's about a music
- 26:44journalist. It's about Cameron Crowe, A
- 26:46fictionalized account of Cameron Crowe, the movie director and
- 26:49author. What's your go to, Bon Scott?
- 26:51Whole lot of Rosie, dude. My band was just covering that
- 26:54last year, and I would say I'm the singer of that band.
- 26:59Angst, I'm kind of on a hiatus right now.
- 27:02Yeah, dude. Hey, Ultimate sin.
- 27:04Thank you so much for joining us.
- 27:06You know, super cool of you to join the conversation and and be
- 27:11a part of it. Man.
- 27:12I really appreciate you. I appreciate you, Marcus.
- 27:14I hope that answered all your questions.
- 27:17We're around. DM us, hit us up.
- 27:19Watch our stuff. We have a lot.
- 27:21There's some Aussie stuff coming up in a minute, so you might
- 27:23want to hang in there. I'm pretty pissed about it.
- 27:25I don't know if you heard about this crazy shit Sharon is doing
- 27:29all right. Also, this show is a podcast.
- 27:32We have a podcast wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 27:34I just mentioned we interviewed Mastodon and King Ultra Mega and
- 27:37Napalm Death and earlier in the year I interviewed Will from
- 27:40William from Alice In Chains. And like so many fun, cool
- 27:44things across the whole spectrum.
- 27:46Metal, hardcore, punk rock. I interviewed Fat Micah no FX a
- 27:50couple of years ago. I interviewed Hilung before they
- 27:53got huge as well. Our biggest watched interview on
- 27:55YouTube. Coven, Jinx, Dawson.
- 27:59You see the flag behind me on the chair?
- 28:02You know, if you don't know who Jinx Dawson and Coven are,
- 28:04you're missing out on some classic heavy metal.
- 28:07Maybe the original heavy metal before Sabbath again.
- 28:14Hot takes. Sometimes I have hot takes.
- 28:18All right, dude, fuck Sharon. I said nothing to do with that.
- 28:21Yeah. He just wanted to rock.
- 28:23I mean, look, man, I would say this, I grew up in poverty and
- 28:28it sucks. It fucking sucks.
- 28:30It's so hard to get ahead in life when you start with nothing
- 28:35and any successes I had, I worked my ass off.
- 28:38Nothing has ever been given to me whether it's ghost called my
- 28:41career in marketing. I've had to struggle and and
- 28:44strain and stress. I'm grateful that she got him
- 28:50rich. You know, she put money in his
- 28:52pocket. I love Sepultura, Marcus.
- 28:55I'm going to see them next week. We're going to talk about them
- 28:57in just a minute. I'm a huge Sepultura fan, Derek
- 28:59and Max and Igor. But yeah, man, I'm.
- 29:03I'm disappointed. I guess I'm not surprised.
- 29:05I'll say that I'm not surprised at some of this shit Sharon is
- 29:07doing. All right, that's all the
- 29:09preamble. Let's get into the rest of the
- 29:12show. We always do the news rundown
- 29:14and we start with metal festivals and we are covering
- 29:16some banger ones this week. I will and begin this for
- 29:19everybody. Unfortunately you all on Tiktok
- 29:21can't see the the bells and whistles of the show but I'll do
- 29:25my best. Do I think their Best Song is
- 29:27Roots? It's up there.
- 29:32I think personally my my favorite.
- 29:35Let's not say my favorite. I think the best Sepultura song
- 29:39lyrics, songwriting, everything is territory just period.
- 29:44My favorite Sepultura song is Slave New World which was Co
- 29:49written by Evan of Biohazard. Anyway, metal festivals and punk
- 29:53rock festivals and festivals in general.
- 29:56We are super stoked to be covering Slam Dunk festival in
- 30:00the UK this weekend. They do a north and they do a
- 30:02South. Ultimate sin.
- 30:04Peace brother. I'm giving you the horns even
- 30:06though you can't see him. Horns to you.
- 30:09So slam dunk festival, Good Charlotte.
- 30:10Not a huge fan, never was, but knock loose, sublime, Taking
- 30:14Back Sunday, Boston Manor comeback, kid Bury tomorrow,
- 30:18Dashboard Confessional code. You know, not code orange.
- 30:24One of their side bands, malevolence president.
- 30:27I don't I'm not sure I care about them.
- 30:30State champs and a bunch of other killer hardcore and punk
- 30:33bands. So so super fun.
- 30:38And what actually happened is one of our team members applied
- 30:43to cover it. Lorna Leahy and you can go
- 30:45follow her. I'm going to drop her Instagram,
- 30:48both the Instagrams of my UK people into the chats and what
- 30:53you should do is give them a follow.
- 30:55I don't think they're on much on TikTok, but photos by Lorna on
- 30:59Instagram for Lorna. Lorna got asked to be part of
- 31:05the team of Slam Dunk Fest to cover it.
- 31:09So I'm really proud of her. And then because of that, our
- 31:12other photographer in the area got to do is going to go also
- 31:18and cover the actually cover the festival for Ghost Cult That's
- 31:20Bill Mosley. Bill is covered Slipknot and
- 31:23Knock loose and we always cover Bloodstock open air and he did
- 31:30the Bloodstock winter meeting festival thing.
- 31:32So super proud, super proud of him and them and just really
- 31:41super cool. Please give these folks a follow
- 31:44if you can. If you're on the gram,
- 31:46definitely give them a follow. Photos by at Photos by Lorna and
- 31:53W Maudsley for Bill's photo stuff.
- 31:57Just so fun and cool. So really cool.
- 31:59Really honored to do Slam Dunk. You know, I used to have like
- 32:03thousands of C DS I do get. So just like in Almost Famous
- 32:08You, you'll never make a lot of money, but you will get free
- 32:11records from the record companies.
- 32:12I buy a lot of music. I'm also sent a lot of free
- 32:15music albums, vinyl and C DS kind of all the time.
- 32:20And I also get to listen to albums before they come out.
- 32:24I've been rocking the new Dimmu Borgier that is coming out today
- 32:27and it is amazing. I'm so happy they're back.
- 32:30But anywho, all right, also this weekend, I'm not covering it
- 32:35this year, but I have covered this.
- 32:37So not exactly the most metal thing, but Bottle Rock Napa.
- 32:40I live in the Bay Area and Bottle Rock Napa is every
- 32:46Memorial Day weekend. I think one year it was in the
- 32:48fall because of COVID. This is the best festival I've
- 32:51ever covered in terms of easy fun, not that many people, and
- 32:57in tremendous like value. It's expensive and it's fancy
- 33:01foods and wine and and cocktails and beer, which isn't the best
- 33:06idea in the Bay Area in Napa Valley where it's boiling hot
- 33:10all the time. But Bottle Rock is killer this
- 33:12year. My dear festy besty Rebecca,
- 33:15who's actually going to marry me and my fiance and Melissa in a
- 33:17few months. Lord Teddy swims and Lil Wayne.
- 33:21OK cool Papa Roach though. Chaka Khan, Tashul Tana, I've
- 33:25seen her live, amazing Men At Work, Natasha Bedingfield, Chevy
- 33:30metal so some Hard Rock melt, Treach from Naughty By Nature
- 33:34solo and some others. Foo Fighters headlining Saturday
- 33:38with LCD sound system. So that's a dance party with
- 33:41Zed. I did a whole video, Marcus on
- 33:44Woodstock 99, a whole podcast last year where I revisited
- 33:49Woodstock 99 and you can check that out.
- 33:51I was there. I was personally there and I had
- 33:55not the best time. Thanks Fred Durst.
- 33:58But anyway, also Rilo Kiley, Busta Rhymes, not a fan, but OK.
- 34:03Joan Jett in the back, Black hearts Bush Saturday seems like
- 34:06much more rock, Better Than Ezra.
- 34:08Arrested Development. That's kind of fat.
- 34:11Michael Jackson's daughter Paris is making her festival debut
- 34:14there. That's fun.
- 34:16The Alive is a teenage rock band I've interviewed before.
- 34:19Fun. And then Sunday, Backstreet
- 34:22Boys, Somber, Ludacris, Mount Joy, Slightly Stupid, Kulen
- 34:27again who I've seen with Van Halen like 15 years ago, Lark
- 34:31and Poe, Sons of the East and a bunch more.
- 34:35So not exactly the most metal thing, but a fun experience
- 34:38where you could go like eat the best food, see celebrity chefs,
- 34:43have a dope cocktail or a craft beer and then rock out.
- 34:47It's actually really great. I've had a tremendous time and
- 34:49we'll cover it again someday, just not this year.
- 34:52Also coming up next weekend is Maryland Death Fest, their 20th
- 34:56festival in 21 years. I've gone a few times.
- 34:59I need to get back there. I almost need to go with like an
- 35:02empty suitcase and like $1000 for merch because like I would
- 35:06just buy everything. It's like heaven for metal
- 35:08heads. I can't wait to go back.
- 35:10But just a real quick rundown of some of the bands playing.
- 35:14Solitude doing a very rare show. November's doom Bong Ripper on
- 35:20Thursday along with Bong Zilla, Wake of Earnest, Black Lung and
- 35:24more. Friday Old man's child American
- 35:27debut, Unbelievable and great God Dethroned reunited Rod in
- 35:33Christ, who I just saw with Behemoth and Denicide.
- 35:36The Crown rare American show. I think they're retiring
- 35:40Wolfhart and many others. Friday's lineup features Grave
- 35:46Death Angel doing the Act 3 tour.
- 35:48Cancer classic death metal band. I have some of their vinyls,
- 35:54Violence, of course. Butushka I'm not sure which
- 35:58ones. The Valley Carnage, great band.
- 36:00They put out a new reissue recently.
- 36:01I picked up also on Saturday. That was Sunday.
- 36:07Saturday. Creator Destruction Pig
- 36:09Destroyer, Whiplash from New Jersey Thrash metal.
- 36:12What up? Strangled by the sun.
- 36:13Welcome. Welcome, sinister mortician
- 36:18Mccobb, who I'm going to see at Milwaukee Metal Fest in a
- 36:21minute. I'll tell you about that.
- 36:22So pumped. I've never seen Mccobb.
- 36:25OK. Also, Milwaukee Metal Fest is in
- 36:29two weeks. I'm flying out to Milwaukee,
- 36:30going to go see a Brewers game, going to try to get one of the
- 36:33last bottles of Schlitz malt liquor ever and acid bath on
- 36:37Friday with obituary, Agalock, death, Angel, incantation,
- 36:41violence, pallbearer and many more.
- 36:44Saturday is kill switch engaged suicidal Tennessee's machine
- 36:47head, one of my favorite power trip with their new vocalist
- 36:50nails prongs, all my homies men. And then Sunday ministry, Napalm
- 36:57death, John Bush playing the 90s and arts hits of anthrax
- 37:01integrity. Not sure if they had a drop out
- 37:05because I know dewed is having some problems physically WADA
- 37:12and macabre and that's like the big one for me.
- 37:14I've never seen macabre. And then the pre party is
- 37:17Thursday night so I'm going to go see Milwaukee Brewers game.
- 37:19Never been going to go and then it's a Muir Jost and friends
- 37:24playing covers and he's got a killer line up with them and
- 37:26also Gasket who disrupt the new album playing that day.
- 37:30So awesome Furnace fest we told you about last week.
- 37:32A day to remember, Bring me the horizon circa survive underoath,
- 37:36motionless and white slaughter to prevail.
- 37:38Chiodos, We Came to Romans, Kubicon, The Plot, New Suicide
- 37:42Silence, Norma Jean Apri, Poison, the Well Cartel, Hail
- 37:45the Sun, Bleeding Through, Sleeping Giant.
- 37:48So some killer bands, some bands that are not for me.
- 37:51A lot of deathcore, a lot of hardcore, a lot of punk.
- 37:53I love a lot of punk and hardcore and some deathcore.
- 37:59Let's see. Headbanger's Boat did one of the
- 38:03coolest things I've ever seen. They are I think, you know,
- 38:07we're we're talking a lot about concerts not selling out and
- 38:10festivals not doing well. So Headbanger's Boat is not sold
- 38:15out for the first time ever, but I think it will eventually sell
- 38:17out. These cruises do very well.
- 38:19Headbangers boats Lamb of goat, Lamb of God's cruise basically
- 38:23every year. This will be their third one.
- 38:25Zach Sabbath, Dillinger escape plan in flames, Gore the haunted
- 38:29death Angel also perish Kyleesa, who I'm dying to see again.
- 38:34I think they're playing it Aftershock, so I might have to
- 38:37go DRI harm's way and more. And what they're doing on the
- 38:41boat is 1 lucky winner will get their cabin completely bled on
- 38:48and cummed on by Gore with a bunch of Gore merch and just the
- 38:51Gore treatment. I would go on the hope that I
- 38:55won that thing. I did a whole thing on the most
- 38:58shocking deaths in rock and metal.
- 39:00I met Vinny Paul and saw Darrell the week before he was murdered.
- 39:04I love Pantera, I know that they have some problematic things but
- 39:08I think in the meantime Diamond Vinny were great people and
- 39:13tremendous artists. I love Panteras so much.
- 39:16I saw them like 25 times and I saw Damage Plan the week before
- 39:20Daryl was killed. So brutal.
- 39:22I remember the call I got at work and I cried my eyes out for
- 39:27weeks on end about it. Levitation Festival is drunk.
- 39:31Their first line up, Molchat DOMA, Agnogine, Depatrine di
- 39:37Spitz, Cabaret Voltaire, Uncle Ass and the Deadbeats coming
- 39:41soon. Peter Hook and the Light,
- 39:42psychedelic porn crumpets, Arlo Parks, Rehash Temples, Gibby,
- 39:47Hangings of the Butthole Surfers who have a new album coming
- 39:49soon. I'm interviewing them next week
- 39:51and many more. So we'll keep we'll keep it
- 39:53posted for mid-september for Levitation Fest, formally, what
- 39:57was it called? It was like Austin's Psych Fest.
- 40:00And then Levitation's a better name, right?
- 40:06All right, powering through. This looks really cool.
- 40:09Dark Lord day at 3 Floyd's Brewing in Indiana.
- 40:16It's just passed, so they're booking a new one now, but I
- 40:19thought that was a really cool line up.
- 40:20So Napalm Death and municipal waste rot in the lot in Canada,
- 40:26Hay breed, terror incantation, gates of hell, torture, kill
- 40:32chain and more. That is really cool looking.
- 40:34I'm looking up for the rest of that lineup.
- 40:36Looks super fun. Chris Heath is here, Sandstone
- 40:40is here, Rebecca's here. Bobby Covino.
- 40:47Just a reminder next weekend is also spooky.
- 40:50Empire used to be Ghost cult was a big part of that in the past.
- 40:54We went down there one year and I hosted some panels on music,
- 40:58myself and my partner Omar, really fun.
- 41:00And Paul from Cannibal Corpse will be doing a signing there
- 41:04and they have bands that play and horror punk and metal and
- 41:08stuff, so kind of fun if you like horror.
- 41:10Most metal heads love horror stuff, so I know I do.
- 41:14Who else is around? What's up, what's up, what's up?
- 41:17All right, now on to tours and we were telling you last week
- 41:21that Metallica kicked off their M72 world tour.
- 41:25A homie of mine went to see them in Poland last night, said they
- 41:28were phenomenal. I know they've seen like 90 like
- 41:3490 Metallica shows. I've seen Metallica more than
- 41:37any other band as you can see. I have some Metallica merch on
- 41:41one of my Chewbacca shirt and my ghost coat hat since the Star
- 41:44Wars movie is out now. And what genre of metal do I
- 41:49dislike the most? I don't really dislike any of
- 41:51them. I think a lot of deathcore
- 41:55started to sound the same and it's kind of played out to me,
- 41:59you know? But some of it's great still.
- 42:04And I don't know, that's a tough one.
- 42:07That's a tough questions. I love as a music journalist.
- 42:10Like I just wrote a review of Puscifer.
- 42:13I was listening to Do MU Borgier all day yesterday.
- 42:16Like my whole plate is open. As a journalist and a writer for
- 42:20over 20 years. I studied music in college.
- 42:22I had bands for 20 years that were most basically thrash
- 42:25metal, Hard Rock and punk. So I don't know.
- 42:28Metallica is on their tour this weekend will be their first kind
- 42:32of two night thing. I think the setlist hasn't been
- 42:34great, but you know, Gojira and Pantera and Avatar and Knock
- 42:39Loose opening for Metallica in Europe.
- 42:41That's just crazy. This is a big news that came out
- 42:46yesterday. Smashing Pumpkins are doing
- 42:48their Rats in a Cage tour to celebrate melancholy infinite
- 42:52sadness. Don't know if you saw it on our
- 42:54YouTube or podcast. Their record label sent me the
- 42:58giant $350.00 ALP Smashing Pumpkins Deluxe Melancholy Vinyl
- 43:06set and it is one of the best things I've ever seen.
- 43:09The sound is Immaculate. There was some live concerts,
- 43:11some demos, beautiful book written by Billy.
- 43:15Really incredible. One of the better things I've
- 43:18gotten in the last few years. It was really gracious to them
- 43:20to give it to me. I've had things where it was
- 43:23offered to me to like do an unboxing video and then send it
- 43:26back to them, which is fine. I'm just grateful to be here.
- 43:29I'm glad to be here. How about you?
- 43:30I love metal and rock and punk and jazz and Blues, and I was
- 43:35trained in classical music. I think Palpatine is a Sith
- 43:40Lord. He's been trained to use the
- 43:41dark side. I think that's me.
- 43:43It's just with music. Also Parish, another band I'm
- 43:45going to see, you know, in two weeks in Milwaukee doing the
- 43:49price of existence. Wage Slaves is a banger.
- 43:52There's a death corps band. I love Marcus.
- 43:55I mean, you know, metal heads especially, you know, thrash and
- 44:00death metal were really peaking in the 90s after the blackout
- 44:03after Cannibal Corpse had a bunch of successful records with
- 44:07Barnes and I think new metal came along and there's just
- 44:10people who a don't like rap, don't like anything too urban.
- 44:13It's kind of weird. It's a weird dichotomy where
- 44:15some people are dying to be down and urban.
- 44:18I came from the hood in the Bronx, NY, where rap was born
- 44:22and really cultural American urbanness came from.
- 44:29But you know, I don't new metals, not a poser metal.
- 44:32Listen man, like Monkey used to do Steve Vai shit, you know what
- 44:36I'm saying? The first band, the Korn guys
- 44:38had LAPD Love and Peace, dude. They were like Faith No More
- 44:42jazz junkies and things like that.
- 44:44So like, you know, if people don't like what you like, that
- 44:47doesn't invalidate what you like.
- 44:49Don't worry about impressing or pleasing anybody, please
- 44:52yourself. Life is short, all right.
- 44:55Talked about this tour last week, Dekrutzen, The Crosses,
- 44:59the Dekrutzen tribute band is coming around.
- 45:01They are also playing Milwaukee Metal Fest.
- 45:03I'm going to go see them. Speaking of Simple tour, Marcus,
- 45:07this tour is hitting my town next week and I'm going.
- 45:10Simple tour is supposed final farewell tour with Derrick Green
- 45:13and Kisser, Exodus, Biohazard and Tribal Gaze that's coming.
- 45:19They have like basically a few more weeks of shows.
- 45:22So I'm going to catch that in Berkeley right near my house
- 45:26train ride away. It's up 7 mind.
- 45:31OK, let's see, man, that's I appreciate all the watchers and
- 45:35viewers. Somebody's watching on my
- 45:37channel. I appreciate you.
- 45:39I have a channel at Ghost called Kefi 666 on YouTube.
- 45:42We also have at Ghost Cult Live and at Ghost Cult man,
- 45:44everywhere else. Bill Massey, what up?
- 45:47Good to see you again. One Machine has made it to Japan
- 45:52as the support band for Obscura and that is the band featuring
- 45:56Steve Smythe, formerly of Testament and Forbidden.
- 46:00And what a killer band they are and I'm super stoked for new
- 46:04more new One Machine music. You should check that band out
- 46:07if you love progressive thrash metal.
- 46:11The story so far in the starting line have a tour they're kicking
- 46:14off soon that's kind of cool. This is a great tour.
- 46:17Lana Del Rabies, Tracer Mountain, Insula Iscariot has
- 46:21booked the West Coast tour for July, The Filth and Ferrell
- 46:25tour. Great name.
- 46:25Great name, I gotta say. And then some cancellations,
- 46:29man. We broke the news that Enter
- 46:30Shikari canceled both legs of their upcoming new band.
- 46:34There's a band you might like, Marcus, if you don't know,
- 46:36they're not super huge in America, but they do have quite
- 46:39a following. I interviewed them three years
- 46:41ago at Riotfest in Chicago, which we usually cover, and
- 46:44we'll be getting the Riotfest announcement next week finally.
- 46:48But Enter Shikari said they had visa problems and they had a
- 46:50tour that was about to happen. And I think they had a tour that
- 46:55was going to is booked for the fall and now they can't do any
- 46:57of them. What did I think when Max
- 46:59Cavallera left Sepultura? I was broken hearted.
- 47:01But you know, Igor stayed for 10 years without Max and they
- 47:04didn't talk. And that's what, you know,
- 47:06sometimes when the marriage is bad, the parents don't stay
- 47:08together. I love Sepultura with Derrick
- 47:11Green and I, one of the few people I've interviewed Max
- 47:14Cavallera like 10 times in my career.
- 47:17You can go look it up on YouTube or our website at at
- 47:19ghostcultman.com. And we have a great
- 47:21relationship. I love Gloria.
- 47:25I see Richie from Insight, Richie Cavallera and and Igor,
- 47:29the son and the brother. I've interviewed most of them.
- 47:32And, you know, I was bummed out that he quit.
- 47:35And there were, you know, good reasons Dana died.
- 47:37That was brutal. And we did get Soul Fly and all
- 47:39of Max's other projects were, you know, sort of grew out of
- 47:44leaving Sepultura, which is a good thing for metal.
- 47:47And I think the music with Derek has been terrific, especially
- 47:49these last run of albums and their new EPI.
- 47:52Think I unboxed it on here about a month ago, came out about 3
- 47:56weeks ago. So, you know, I was bummed.
- 47:59But you know, 2 Christmases, yay.
- 48:02So there's Enter Shikari, you and me at six and yours truly.
- 48:06So metal core would like some synths and dancey tracks, but
- 48:10sometimes heavy as fuck. Enter Shikari is a great band.
- 48:14I'm bummed for them and other bands.
- 48:16You know what happened when a tour gets cancelled, they lose
- 48:18their tour so now they don't have an income.
- 48:21Also Static X has apparently a medical situation has cancelled
- 48:26all their further tours. I know that Matt Zane from
- 48:30Society One, also the porn actor and director is working on a
- 48:34documentary, an unauthorized documentary about Wayne and Tara
- 48:38Patrick, who were sorry, Tara Ray, who was Wayne's wife and
- 48:41friends of his. And there's a lot of beefing
- 48:45back and forth. What's the craziest band you
- 48:48interviewed? Well, what do you mean by crazy?
- 48:49I interviewed Jazz Coleman of Killing Joke where he just went
- 48:53nuts for like an hour. Just one thing after another,
- 48:57theories and and conspiracies and fucking crazy shit.
- 49:03I recently interviewed a band called Kalahunka from Texas that
- 49:07basically does grind core and like maybe Mr. Bunkle kind of
- 49:10weirdness and their music is made for slugs and slug
- 49:14creatures from another Galaxy. Like a smarter Joe Rogan.
- 49:19Joe Rogan's not a smart person. He may like a lot of conspiracy
- 49:22stuff, but I hear you. I wish Joe Rogan would shut the
- 49:25fuck up and go away. I can't believe that guy gets
- 49:29$100 million a year to do what I do.
- 49:31He's not and he's smarter or better than me but whatever.
- 49:36Also this bummed me out The Psychedelic Furs.
- 49:38My fiance told me about this last week.
- 49:40I think during the show Living Color was supposed to open a
- 49:42huge US and Canadian tour for Psychedelic Furs.
- 49:48They have a medical situation also and cannot tour anymore so
- 49:51I don't know what that means for Living Colors spring and summer.
- 49:54Hopefully they can book some other shows because that sucks.
- 49:57I love this. I have this meme up right now,
- 50:00Marcus. It's Peter Steele, one outfit in
- 50:02bulk, the green army shirt and the hat, so you can't really
- 50:05describe memes. You gotta see him.
- 50:07But anyway, all right on to the rest of the news 150 AMI need to
- 50:14go to bed. Let's do the rest of the news
- 50:22right now though. Just a real quick reminder, some
- 50:26of our affiliate partners include Fable Beards.
- 50:28If you want an awesome beard like I do, check out Fable
- 50:31Beard. The link in our description will
- 50:32get you $10 off your first order.
- 50:35We are partners of the Lamb Goat Media Network.
- 50:37Lamb Goat, the much meaner version of Ghost Cult.
- 50:41They break a lot of news. They do a lot of hardcore and
- 50:43metal stuff. Pretty good coverage of music.
- 50:48And also just a shout out to my homie Craig Caruso of Caruso
- 50:53Apps. And one other thing I I not
- 50:56really a partner of ours, but a a store we like.
- 50:58If you are in the Pennsylvania area, anywhere within striking
- 51:01distance eastern Pennsylvania, go check out the Anarchist
- 51:04closet in Stroudsburg, PA. Great store.
- 51:10We gave them a big blow up last week and you should check them
- 51:12out. And of course, most of you
- 51:15watching this except on TikTok via stream yard.
- 51:17I think we're going to move over to Riverside next year, but so
- 51:20TikTok can get in on the fun but stream yard right now and what
- 51:25gives people feelings of power money, you know, like this, this
- 51:32thing is funny. My fiance sent this to me.
- 51:34I'm I'm getting married in like 55 days and shit is mind blowing
- 51:38to me. I'm so happy.
- 51:42What what gives people feelings of power money status or I've
- 51:45got that record on vinyl. I'm that guy.
- 51:49How did I get into the passion of podcasting?
- 51:51Well, you know what man, as they say, I thought I had a face for
- 51:54radio. I studied broadcast journalism.
- 51:57I studied musicology in my first go round at college and Ghost
- 52:03called. I kind of saw as a marketing
- 52:05expert. I'm also a social media and
- 52:07music expert in terms of like the music industry.
- 52:10I used to teach in training bands how to manage their social
- 52:12media and how to get, you know, what steps to take to get
- 52:15signed, especially rock and metal.
- 52:18I did a lot of seminars during the pandemic and stuff like
- 52:20that. And you know what, Marcus?
- 52:24I started doing video interviews in person and then during the
- 52:28pandemic we couldn't go to shows anymore.
- 52:30I went 549 days without a concert and I thought I was
- 52:34going to eat a bullet, but I didn't and made it through.
- 52:38And I started doing this show like in May of 2020 and I've
- 52:45missed maybe like 3 shows ever since then.
- 52:48And I was definitely ill for two of them in the hospital.
- 52:51So like I rarely take a week off.
- 52:54We work on this round the clock. I don't really get paid for full
- 52:59time work for this, but I certainly enjoy some of the
- 53:02benefits and I love talking about music and chopping it up
- 53:05with my Co hosts and my guests. And I've been again interviewed.
- 53:09I interviewed Ozzy in a group setting, but I interviewed Ozzy.
- 53:13I interviewed Devin Townsend, I've interviewed Testament, I've
- 53:15interviewed Max Cavallera, I've interviewed Megadev, I've
- 53:19interviewed Dave Ellefson, I've interviewed a whole bunch of,
- 53:22you know, Alice In Chains, a whole bunch of people.
- 53:25All right, here's the rest of the news.
- 53:27And then I will do the new music Friday and then I'll do this
- 53:31unboxing and then I'm going to go to bed.
- 53:34So we told you last week, we knew that Anthrax single was
- 53:37coming. Brand new single is for the
- 53:38kids. Tremendous song and video.
- 53:41Real 80s vibes. Madhouse shot in an abandoned
- 53:44mental hospital. Their new album Curseum Perfecto
- 53:50is coming out in September right around my birthday on Mega
- 53:53Forest Records, that label that they restarted themselves.
- 53:57There's their album artwork, kind of looks like an Opeth
- 53:59album cover from like the last 10 years, like their
- 54:02progressive, nerdy Stoner weirdo album cover kind of interesting.
- 54:07Here's the Aussie news, man. And I wish that I wish ultimate
- 54:12cinema still around. This is fucking depressing.
- 54:14So Sharon made an announcement today and a bunch of people
- 54:19picked it up that there will be an Ozzy Osbourne will live on as
- 54:23an AI avatar. License Global announced this.
- 54:29Sharon, Osbourne and Jack have partnered with Hyper Reel, a
- 54:31company known for providing large AI avatars at concerts.
- 54:35They did the Tupac avatar at Coachella.
- 54:38I don't think these things are good.
- 54:39It's kind of scary how it's very real and accurate.
- 54:43He will exist digitally for himself as long as we have
- 54:45computers. Technology has come such a long
- 54:48way it's almost to drag and drop, literally prompt.
- 54:52You want what do you want digital Ozzie to do in a
- 54:55commercial and you just drop it in.
- 54:57You can ask Ozzie anything. He will answer in his own voice
- 54:59and the answers will be what Ozzie would have said.
- 55:02Sharon had it. We're going to take it all
- 55:03around the world. This is horrible.
- 55:06I miss Ozzie. This is stupid Kiss avatars.
- 55:11I have no excitement for this. I grew up a huge Kiss fan and
- 55:13like, you know, Kiss is not Ozzie and KISS is not Metallica
- 55:17and KISS is not Rob Zombie and KISS is not Black Sabbath.
- 55:20But you know, to a lot of people, culturally, KISS was
- 55:23important to them. The idea of Kiss, right?
- 55:26You've heard that before. But this just feels shitty.
- 55:28He just died. There hasn't really been much
- 55:30else that's come out since he died.
- 55:33And I just don't understand it. Like I just don't understand it.
- 55:37You get me? So anyway, just fucking stupid.
- 55:40I think this is a terrible idea. Also we I'm a huge Faith No More
- 55:47fan and I live in the Bay Area and for the first time in years
- 55:52Mike Borden, Puffy Borden and Mike Patton met at a Mike Patton
- 55:57Avett Brothers show and they hung out and there's pictures of
- 56:01them that set the Internet on fire.
- 56:02Now that I don't think that means Faith No More is getting
- 56:04back together. Mike exited pretty badly, told
- 56:07him he had a mental breakdown, and then he ghosted the band,
- 56:11honestly. And for whatever reason he
- 56:13didn't want to go back to Faith No More.
- 56:15But he's very happy doing this project and Mr. Bungle and now
- 56:18Phantomas is in Tomahawk. So I think there's a lot of
- 56:22anger and acceptance feelings from Roddy Bottom and Billy
- 56:26Gould that they're never getting back with Patton.
- 56:29Personally, I'd go get a new singer and tore his Faith No
- 56:32More. If Mike doesn't want to come
- 56:33back, I know he's impossible to replace.
- 56:36Maybe he's the best singer in the world, but I just don't, you
- 56:39know? I'm just fucking mad about it.
- 56:41But I'm glad those guys seem to be doing on good terms right
- 56:45now. An 85 year old grandma set the
- 56:48world record for crowd surfing in Sonic Temple.
- 56:50Awesome. You can do anything you set your
- 56:54mind to, anything at all. This is a pretty cool moment.
- 57:01Arch Enemy and Black Dahlia Murder announced a new tour.
- 57:03That's the first tour. The reason it's in this section
- 57:06is this is the first tour with Lauren Hart, formerly of Once
- 57:09Human, as the new vocalist of Arch Enemy.
- 57:12Antheos also has some touring coming up soon.
- 57:14That's kind of fun. Just a reminder, I mentioned
- 57:17this last week, but I wanted to, I didn't have the right photo
- 57:21and I talked about Iron Maiden in my live stream review of
- 57:23Burning Ambition that Nico Mcbrain is going to release his
- 57:27debut memoir, Hello, Boys and Girls.
- 57:30We're about There are four or five Iron Maiden biographies.
- 57:35Bruce's book was pretty great. Adrian's book is not good.
- 57:38I would love for Steve to do a book, but I have a gut feeling
- 57:43that this is going to be a pretty good book.
- 57:45Crows and Crowns and Crows. That's a great name.
- 57:48Great screen name. Glad you're here.
- 57:52Yeah. Trying to make any dollar off
- 57:53his name. I you know, I know She's going
- 57:55to sell his the rights to his music.
- 57:57Oz Fest is going to come back next year.
- 57:59I am interested. We'll see.
- 58:01Jury is out. What's the best bent?
- 58:03The best band documentary? I mean, the Aussie ones last
- 58:07year almost broke me to like so hard.
- 58:11I will say the Pink Floyd live at Pompeii is pretty amazing.
- 58:17Just for the time and the restoration, The Beatles stuff
- 58:20that's on Disney Plus from Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings was
- 58:23pretty amazing. In terms of metal.
- 58:25I have to say that Into the Void series last year, if you have
- 58:28Hulu or Disney, was pretty fucking fantastic.
- 58:32They did a really great job. And I love Murder in the Front
- 58:38Row by Adam Dubin and Get the Rash by Rick Ernst.
- 58:43Really great stuff. And there's a bunch more.
- 58:46So Left To Die is a super group of former members and associates
- 58:51and influenced people from the band Death.
- 58:54And they have announced they signed a Relapse Records.
- 58:57It was the label of Death, at least for the reissues, and some
- 59:00of they were classics. And their debut album is coming
- 59:03soon where they're going to reinterpret the Death demos that
- 59:07were under the name Mantas. And so left to die to drop the
- 59:14new single called Archangel Incredible.
- 59:17It's Matt Harvey from Exhumed and Gus Rios, who's toured with
- 59:21Death and also from Gruesome, which is kind of a tribute to
- 59:25ban tribute banned to death and Terry Butler, formerly of, you
- 59:28know, Terry Butler of Obituary and formerly a massacre and Rick
- 59:33Ross. So like, you know, people who've
- 59:36been in death pretty great. This is I'm so pumped for this.
- 59:42I also would say that a Cannibal corpse like anniversary
- 59:45documentary they put out a while back that was pretty great.
- 59:49Smirk is sort of power pop of indie rock alternative rock
- 59:55project and they are dropping a new album that's pretty cool.
- 59:59Shane Embry of Napalm Death has been putting out ambient music
- 1:00:03under Dark Sky Burial, but now he's going to put out his own
- 1:00:07brand new. Debut solo album under his name?
- 1:00:11That's kind of fun. John Carpenter, the famous
- 1:00:16director and horror Music Maker is putting out John Carpenter's
- 1:00:20Cathedral, a brand new album, his son and their regular
- 1:00:23collaborator Danny Davis. Skin Graft Records is a pretty
- 1:00:29cool label we do a lot of stuff with and they're doing a Pay
- 1:00:33What You Want on Band Camp right now for a big compilation from
- 1:00:36their label, so check that out. What do I think about Mortician?
- 1:00:39You know, I've met Will Rammer and I'm from New York City, so I
- 1:00:42know that like the death metal community loves Mortician.
- 1:00:45Like I can listen to Mortician here and there, but I don't sit
- 1:00:48around and think about them as the best band I've ever heard.
- 1:00:51I think it's kind of like very same Sammy.
- 1:00:54Like it's shocking and how brutal it can be, but I don't
- 1:00:58know that I like would enjoy listening to them for a days on
- 1:01:01end but OK, not terrible. Here's another one.
- 1:01:08This this kind of surprised me and impressed me.
- 1:01:11This is the Bruce Dickinson's Mandrake project is coming out
- 1:01:17with his second album and graphic novel and comic book
- 1:01:22series. I have all the first ones.
- 1:01:24Shout out to my dude John Harter of Waterfront Comics for hooking
- 1:01:29it up and I am very much looking forward to yet another album
- 1:01:33from Bruce. Like to really go see Maiden on
- 1:01:36tour with Megadeth and Anthrax on either the East Coast or the
- 1:01:40West Coast, but we'll see. My wedding is the most important
- 1:01:43thing in my life right now. New music Friday the mailbag and
- 1:01:46then the show is over. All of y'all who've been hanging
- 1:01:49out and conversating Marcus and Ultimate Sin on YouTube.
- 1:01:55I appreciate y'all so much. Let's do this.
- 1:01:58Let's talk really quick about what new albums came out this
- 1:02:03week. They're out today.
- 1:02:05But, you know, maybe you you have.
- 1:02:08Do I believe snot could have been as big as corn?
- 1:02:10I do not. But I love snot.
- 1:02:12And I love that they're back now doing stuff.
- 1:02:14And I'm excited for a new snot record.
- 1:02:16I love Lynn. I was at the Oz Fest show when
- 1:02:20Lynn came out of the Limp Bizkit toilet bowl that was like 20
- 1:02:23feet high and ran naked through the whole backstage and into the
- 1:02:27parking lot. And when the cops caught him, he
- 1:02:30told them his name was Dave Mustaine, which is fucking
- 1:02:33great. I don't think they had as much
- 1:02:35talent as Korn, but I think they were better than a lot of other
- 1:02:38bands that became huge. So I don't know here.
- 1:02:42Here's a just a quick rundown of some of my favorite records.
- 1:02:45These are records that I think are essential for you to have
- 1:02:48New armored St. if you love the classic heavy metal and thrash.
- 1:02:51A motion factory reset on metal Blade Anteraxia Sofera the fair
- 1:02:57on the Circle record for some heavy metal.
- 1:02:59New re releases of the three classic At the Gates records,
- 1:03:04The Red Sky, The Red in the Sky is Ours, Terminal Spirit Disease
- 1:03:08and With Fear I kiss the Burning darkness.
- 1:03:10All from peaceful records Bear Anhedonia EP.
- 1:03:14It's a band we've done some premieres with.
- 1:03:17Great band like hardcore, beatdown hardcore, metal,
- 1:03:20metallic hardcore from Europe. Let's see progressive artist Dan
- 1:03:25Byrne. This is where the show begins on
- 1:03:27Frontiers SRL. Dead Registers got an album re
- 1:03:31released this week. Fiber, their 10th anniversary.
- 1:03:34Demi Borgier's new album I can't shut up about it.
- 1:03:36Grand Serpent Rising. Tremendous fatal Vision.
- 1:03:41Four sides to every story on Escape Records.
- 1:03:43Fireball Ministry. Second Great Awakening re
- 1:03:45release for some Stone and rock on Ripple music.
- 1:03:51Let's see Horrific visions. Remnants of atrophy for some
- 1:03:54death metal on Comatose records. Isagrim re release self-titled
- 1:03:59on Fire Flash recordings. Cottonmouth Kings.
- 1:04:01Here's a band for you. Marcus.
- 1:04:03Cottonmouth Kings new album EP. California Burning.
- 1:04:09Clever marmosense cowardice on Network Records for some pop
- 1:04:13punk. Oracle of Worms, Cult of
- 1:04:16suffering on FDA records. Rival Cults.
- 1:04:19Our God Needs Blood. Unseen Red Records.
- 1:04:25Skip Danko B Movie Rd. Club tripping on the Chinese
- 1:04:28market on Alzorp Records. Barg.
- 1:04:32Not Barg of Burzum, but the band Varg from Norway.
- 1:04:37Live at the Wolf Site festival on Napalm Records.
- 1:04:40Witching Hour descending where time is ceased to exist Dying
- 1:04:44victims records X com time to burn crossover thrash featuring
- 1:04:48Scott Ian's son Revel and your spirit dies.
- 1:04:53It is well EP on Monarch heavy for some metal core.
- 1:04:59OK, my partner he goes coat has been breaking my chops about
- 1:05:05this for a long time. Let's do the mailbag.
- 1:05:10Just make just make me the solo here so I have another camera
- 1:05:15angle. Everybody except you on TikTok.
- 1:05:18I'm going to show this camera. Let's see here we go boom, you
- 1:05:25looking for this? There we go.
- 1:05:27That's a little chaotic here with the lights and everything,
- 1:05:29but hopefully this will work out.
- 1:05:31So I have some stuff from Tank crimes records.
- 1:05:34I'm going to show it all. No, Slipknot is a copy of
- 1:05:37mushroom head. Actually, they're better than
- 1:05:39Mushroom Head, but they mushroom Head was first.
- 1:05:42So I got some stuff from Tank Crimes Records, I got some stuff
- 1:05:46from Pure Noise Records, and I got a thing off of discongs to
- 1:05:51support the fundraiser for Neil Jameson of Creed.
- 1:05:56So here's just a quick unboxing. Here's a awesome Tank Crimes
- 1:06:03T-shirt. You can never go wrong with Tank
- 1:06:04Crimes. Great label.
- 1:06:05We've interviewed Scotty before. I'll show it to you guys first
- 1:06:10here. Dank crimes instead of tank
- 1:06:13crimes. Hilarious with the weed leaf.
- 1:06:16Maybe not appropriate for family, but very cool.
- 1:06:19Beautiful quality on this shirt. Nice.
- 1:06:23I'm trying to lose some weight so hopefully that'll work out.
- 1:06:27And then I got this exhumed and Iron Reagan split, which is a
- 1:06:31repress from the label. Side one has Grave Walker, dead
- 1:06:35to the world, seeing red and ready to fight.
- 1:06:37Side 2 for Iron Reagan is life beater.
- 1:06:40Gave up on giving a fuck. Many lights and holy water makes
- 1:06:42me wet. That's this guy.
- 1:06:46See if I can. I didn't open it in advance.
- 1:06:48Some of these are going to be sealed.
- 1:06:54Not the best move right there. And this thing got dinged up on
- 1:06:57my way back up here, so too bad it came perfectly packed.
- 1:07:02So here's the sleeve that you guys can see here you get a
- 1:07:07download card I just dropped. There's the artwork.
- 1:07:11There's the artwork so you can appreciate it.
- 1:07:15It's got a lyric sheet that's dope.
- 1:07:17And this is on a special vinyl variant.
- 1:07:21Oh, look at this gorgeous little blood splatter red there for
- 1:07:26you. I don't do a lot of song
- 1:07:31requests on TikTok, but I will because I'm I'm monetizing other
- 1:07:37places and I don't want to get demonetized.
- 1:07:40But if you have a band, I'll review your song for some money.
- 1:07:44But we don't also charge for reviews.
- 1:07:46Here it goes called. So we haven't found anybody
- 1:07:50really good enough yet to do that with.
- 1:07:52But you never know that maybe I'll, maybe I'll.
- 1:07:55When I move this summer, I'm going to start doing a lot more
- 1:07:57vinyl content as I get my collection all sorted and shit.
- 1:08:02So that's the Iron Reagan split. That's fucking dope.
- 1:08:06Tank crimes. Scotty Heath.
- 1:08:07I love you brother. This is a split.
- 1:08:10So I mentioned this, Krieg is got a fundraiser on because they
- 1:08:16have medical expenses piling up for his wife and child.
- 1:08:19Neil Jameson, he writes for Decibel.
- 1:08:21Maybe you've seen his column. So this is a split they did.
- 1:08:24I bought this off at discounts to support his fundraiser.
- 1:08:27So this is the body who I love. And Creed doing the split
- 1:08:30single. It was just 20 bucks came in the
- 1:08:34Mylar, which I appreciate. It's got the hype sticker on it
- 1:08:37already. I'm probably going to put my own
- 1:08:39Mylar on it. Here's the front cover for you
- 1:08:41all to see. Kind of looks like a leather
- 1:08:44jacket. Here's the back cover.
- 1:08:46Nice. Fill it again here.
- 1:08:48Boom. And the back cover.
- 1:08:51Boom. Stuff crossed out.
- 1:08:55Looks like it's supposed to be evidence in a crime.
- 1:08:57The jacket is probably covered in blood.
- 1:08:59It's kind of fun. So here's the sleeve.
- 1:09:04And then here's a vinyl download card.
- 1:09:07That's cool. I know, I know.
- 1:09:09I'm not mad at it. There's a little information
- 1:09:14sleeve here and lyrics looks handwritten and then reproduce
- 1:09:18fucking dope. And then here's this vinyl
- 1:09:21variant or no, This is plain old black side A and side B very
- 1:09:31cool. Once again for y'all side A side
- 1:09:35B. You know I've seen ICP live.
- 1:09:38I actually saw the festival where they tried to like jump
- 1:09:41Fred Durst. It was like one of the most
- 1:09:44embarrassing things I've seen ICP.
- 1:09:46I saw them at Riot Fest. I saw them at a festival in New
- 1:09:50Jersey. They're they're OK.
- 1:09:51I like those guys. They're certainly interesting.
- 1:09:55Right. OK, now.
- 1:09:56So that was Tank Crimes, the shirt and the vinyl iron Reagan
- 1:10:01and Municipal waste and then this Kriegan body split.
- 1:10:03That's cool. And then so pure Noise records,
- 1:10:06I think I pre-ordered the Ko Yo album, which is sort of
- 1:10:09hardcore, metallic hardcore. And then they were having like a
- 1:10:12hell of sale. So I got a bunch of things.
- 1:10:15So let's just I have a list here from Pure Noise Records.
- 1:10:18This was like dirt cheap. The Ko Yo was the only thing I
- 1:10:21bought full price. So this is Keepsakes and
- 1:10:25reminders long sleeve gold shirt, killer band long sleeve,
- 1:10:30fun colored shirt. I'll show it to you in a second.
- 1:10:33Koyo came with a sticker, a poster marble LP for the new
- 1:10:39album Barely Here. Then there was a Spectre LP for
- 1:10:42like 3 bucks on some silver Galaxy vinyl.
- 1:10:47Reckoning Swamp green, cloudy and 10 digits away, half blood
- 1:10:50red, half clear with a black splatter.
- 1:10:54Let's see if there's anything else in here.
- 1:10:56Nope, that's it. So pretty fucking cool.
- 1:10:59I think the entire thing was 60 bucks.
- 1:11:04You know, I know I have so many black shirts that I made it like
- 1:11:07a gag. I have a pink Slipknot shirt and
- 1:11:09I have like a Shane Doe mint green shirt and author and
- 1:11:13Punisher safety orange like a train worker or something.
- 1:11:17So I do love some fun occasional shirts.
- 1:11:19I had a blue shirt on in my other podcast the other day from
- 1:11:23the club in that club that's closing here in San Francisco,
- 1:11:30bottom of the hill. So here is we'll do it like
- 1:11:32this. Let's do the shirt first, since
- 1:11:34you just asked. So here's the shirt.
- 1:11:37This is fucking dope. Youth fountain fun band, cool
- 1:11:41shirt and I'll just could have pre folded it.
- 1:11:47That would have been smart, right?
- 1:11:50Check this. Like mustard yellow, like so
- 1:11:53bright, almost American cheese orange yellow, right?
- 1:11:57Really fun and lighting in here is pink and blue.
- 1:11:59So it's a little challenging but kind of dope.
- 1:12:02I'm going away for the weekend with my fiance for her birthday
- 1:12:05and bridal shower. Maybe I'll wear it.
- 1:12:08And now the now the vinyl, right?
- 1:12:10A whole bunch of vinyl for one full price thing.
- 1:12:13Everything else dirt cheap. Fucking dope.
- 1:12:16I never did tie dye. Maybe when I was in my 20s.
- 1:12:20I had one Pink Floyd tie dye shirt that I got as a bootleg at
- 1:12:23a concert when I saw Pink Floyd in 94 without Roger happily.
- 1:12:27But I don't do tie dye, in case you're wondering.
- 1:12:30I don't know if you were wondering, some people wonder.
- 1:12:34So here's the Koyo single. I hate the Grateful Dead bro.
- 1:12:40They're a great band. My brother was a Deadhead and he
- 1:12:43just kind of made me hate their guts.
- 1:12:45So this is this was the single I I tend to just away straight in
- 1:12:48order to call it off. Oh, this is fun.
- 1:12:51Check this vinyl out with the telephone.
- 1:12:54Very fun. Here it is.
- 1:12:56Here's the front and the back Very cool right.
- 1:13:01So there's that. And then let's see here's the
- 1:13:08Koyo stuff. We'll do that first.
- 1:13:12So here's the poster, double sided poster, kind of fun.
- 1:13:21And the back with the album artwork with the phone.
- 1:13:27No, man, I, yeah, I can't do the Grateful Dead.
- 1:13:30I just can't. I know they're I know they're
- 1:13:31very talented. Here's a sticker with a little
- 1:13:34QR code on the back for some other merch stuff.
- 1:13:37Here's the new album barely here on red and white marble.
- 1:13:41This is out now. I think I paid 30 bucks for this
- 1:13:44brand new and the rest again maybe another 30 bucks for us.
- 1:13:51You know like another 30 bucks plus maybe including the
- 1:13:54shipping for a 7 inch and two more 12 inches.
- 1:13:59That's fucking dope. If you collect vinyl like I do,
- 1:14:02I have about 1400 records. Not all here in California.
- 1:14:08Here's the sleeve. Here's your sleeve.
- 1:14:10Koyo. Barely there.
- 1:14:12Killer album, good band. I'd really like to interview
- 1:14:15them. It's like a download card and
- 1:14:19another poster. That's cool.
- 1:14:23And then here's an inner sleeve. Always put your vinyl in mylar
- 1:14:26inners and outers to protect your vinyl.
- 1:14:29This is on this looks like a pink marble.
- 1:14:31Very fucking cool. And the back pretty much the
- 1:14:34same. Look like maybe little streaks
- 1:14:36of white. Here we go.
- 1:14:39That surely is a hot take, my friend.
- 1:14:41I love some Chevelle songs, but I would not say they're better
- 1:14:44than Deftones. Deftones is a phenomenal,
- 1:14:47groundbreaking, breaking band. I think Chevelle started out as
- 1:14:50kind of a clone of Tool or wanted to be like Tool, and
- 1:14:56they've got a couple of bangers. I interviewed the drummer at
- 1:14:59Aftershock and he was really nice and I like them just fine,
- 1:15:03but I don't I don't think they have the material that holds up
- 1:15:06to Deftones. Just my personal no, no shade.
- 1:15:10If you love what you love, that's cool.
- 1:15:12I never hate on people, you know, unless you like Journey.
- 1:15:17I hate fucking Journey and then you don't love the Grateful Dead
- 1:15:19a lot. I hate them actually.
- 1:15:22My partner on my podcast who writes for those cult and
- 1:15:24interviews bands who interviewed Corrosion and Conformity.
- 1:15:27Don Dilamont is a dead head and met his wife because of the
- 1:15:30dead. I I cannot fuck with them.
- 1:15:33This is killer. This was This record is.
- 1:15:44Pure noise. Which one was this one?
- 1:15:52Spectre. So this is cool.
- 1:15:54This is the Spectre. This is hard hardcore punk.
- 1:15:58Front cover, front cover, back cover.
- 1:16:03Classic hardcore with the chains and the font.
- 1:16:11Yo, what's up Chris? Late night TV here, unboxing
- 1:16:14some vinyl and doing some metal news.
- 1:16:17Good to see you. I hope you have a great weekend.
- 1:16:21Unboxing some stuff from Pure Noise Records.
- 1:16:25I got my Testament reissue recently, about six weeks ago.
- 1:16:29That was fucking great. So here's the Spectre.
- 1:16:33Clear, translucent Gray. Really fucking cool, really
- 1:16:39fucking cool. Translucent Gray final, very
- 1:16:42nice, very nice job. Pure Noise records for some
- 1:16:46punchy, punchy hardcore spectre fun band that's like one of your
- 1:16:54best hacks if you want to like grow your collection, thrift
- 1:16:58stores, DIY punk record stores. And when a big record label like
- 1:17:04Pure Noise or Metal Blade or Nuclear Blast is having a sale,
- 1:17:07go deep, go in. You might discover your new
- 1:17:11favorite band and here's rotting out.
- 1:17:13Can't fuck with them. So good.
- 1:17:14Such a good band on on pure noise records.
- 1:17:18And I think this is an EP reckoning.
- 1:17:20So this is another one. I have all the hype stickers
- 1:17:22here. I'll have to get these home in
- 1:17:25one piece and put them on my disc paws.
- 1:17:31All right, almost done with the show in a very manageable hour
- 1:17:36and 17 minutes. I really can't be doing these
- 1:17:38things all hours of the night, but I got kind of a free weekend
- 1:17:44after this. So good for me, not so good for
- 1:17:49everybody else. All right, here is riding out
- 1:17:58reckoning. All these came with a download
- 1:17:59card, even the one I got off at this con.
- 1:18:02That's the black metal, the body and creed for that fundraiser.
- 1:18:06Again, Neil Jameson is Tool, one of the first bands to cross
- 1:18:15dress and perform. I mean, I think Maynard, I don't
- 1:18:20think that's accurate, but I don't really consider what he
- 1:18:22was doing as cross dressing. Much in the same way Fat Mike
- 1:18:27likes to wear dresses and kilts and skirts and no draws and Zach
- 1:18:31while wears kilts. He's not cross dressing.
- 1:18:33But I know what you mean. Tool's a great band though.
- 1:18:38I just saw Pussifer. My review is up on the site.
- 1:18:41It goes coldname.com. You can read it now.
- 1:18:45Here's the rotting out front counter.
- 1:18:48Looks like a shed that they rehearsing.
- 1:18:50Here's them in that shed rehearsing with their Raiders
- 1:18:53thing. Fucking cool.
- 1:18:57Rotting Out and it's got a little little image with some
- 1:19:07lyrics and shout outs and credits.
- 1:19:13Very good band. I saw those early Tool, You
- 1:19:17know, I didn't see Tool until Undertow, but I saw that tour
- 1:19:21with the breasts and the wig and I saw the Blue guy tour.
- 1:19:28Oh, this is fucking dope. I forgot about this pattern.
- 1:19:31This is wild. It kind of looks like a bird
- 1:19:33shit, but it's fucking dope with the rotting out etching.
- 1:19:37I don't really need an etching on the back of my vinyl, but
- 1:19:40very fucking cool with the hardcore logo.
- 1:19:43And here you go. You can see this now.
- 1:19:45This light is really capturing It kind of looks like a coffee
- 1:19:47stain or something on an old table or something man.
- 1:19:53So that is all the things I hope you enjoyed.
- 1:19:58I will maybe post this as a clip on our other socials in case you
- 1:20:04missed it. All right man, that is our show.
- 1:20:08It is a holiday weekend. As I always say, please don't
- 1:20:11drink and drive. Thanks for watching Marcus, you

- 1:20:29TikTok and all y'all man, thank you so much for following.
- 1:20:32I will follow you. I think I'm going to go live
- 1:20:34Monday night with a review maybe Monday and Tuesday and then this
- 1:20:38show is usually on Thursdays. I don't know if I need to move
- 1:20:42it to late night on Fridays, but typically I try to go live
- 1:20:45Thursday. Next Thursday night I have that
- 1:20:47simple tourist show in Berkeley. So I don't think that I can go
- 1:20:51late at this time. I think I'll try to go live
- 1:20:53before I do this, before I go to Berkeley for that show, but I'm
- 1:20:57in, I'm in Pacific Time. Marcus, thank you so much for
