- 0:01We find that our state of physical health clearly impacts
- 0:05our minds. In cases of severe pain, the
- 0:08mind may actually be fixated on the pain signals and be unable
- 0:13for that period of time to focus on virtually anything else.
- 0:18But the connection is more subtle than simply reacting to
- 0:21acute pain. We find that as we experience
- 0:25some kind of discomfort, we begin to worry, to speculate, to
- 0:30research causes of the symptoms we are experiencing, and then to
- 0:35begin to self diagnose and create scenarios in our minds
- 0:39about what is taking place and what the impact will be.
- 0:44We turn specific bodily signals into a cause for creation of an
- 0:48entire structure of gloom and doom.
- 0:51In many cases, the mind's action creates stress which impacts the
- 0:56body in a negative feedback loop.
- 1:01If we then visit a doctor and undergo some review and testing
- 1:04by experts in the field of physical health, recognizing
- 1:08that they don't necessarily have all the answers and may
- 1:12themselves wind up speculating to some degree.
- 1:16In many cases we learn that what we feared has not come to pass.
- 1:21In the meantime, our mind has been sending signals of fear and
- 1:25uncertainty back to the body consciousness.
- 1:28Even supposing that our speculation and fear was based
- 1:32in the reality of the body's actual experience, the reaction
- 1:36is generally not helpful and may actually set back the process of
- 1:42restoring health or recovering. On the other side, the mind can
- 1:47be a powerful aid to healing in a number of ways.
- 1:51If it is properly utilized. Its action can be subtle or
- 1:56overt, internal or external. The mind can first of all
- 2:01refrain from jumping to conclusions or imagining what
- 2:05the cause of the concern in the body happens to be.
- 2:09This alone represents a shift from the negative feedback loop
- 2:13to the body to a neutral status. It can send positive
- 2:18affirmations or suggestions to the body, such as indicating
- 2:22that this is likely a short term issue that will soon be resolved
- 2:27or that support or assistance will be acquired to aid the body
- 2:31in its restoration of balance and health.
- 2:35The mind can organize a response, including consultation
- 2:38and advice that may be able to determine the actual situation
- 2:43and begin a course of treatment as may be required.
- 2:47The mind may send a signal to the body that a particular food,
- 2:51herb, drug, therapy, or other action will fix the situation.
- 2:58The placebo effect represents the mind telling the body that
- 3:02it is getting supported. This creates a positive feedback
- 3:07loop. Beyond that, the mind can take
- 3:10steps to provide the body with healing vibrations such as
- 3:14immersion in healing sounds, visiting nature sites that
- 3:18refresh and uplift the body and mind, and positive thoughts of
- 3:23support to the body. Calming and soothing activities
- 3:27can have a wonderful effect on the body.
- 3:31It is easy for the mind to move into a state of stress and
- 3:34communicate this to the body. The mind may, through its own
- 3:38mode of action, actually create imbalances in the body.
- 3:43In most cases, it may be best to simply listen to the body and
- 3:48let it heal itself. We see this phenomenon with
- 3:52animals when they are feeling out of sorts.
- 3:55They may simply find a quiet spot and sleep, allowing their
- 3:59body to restore itself. Or they may seek out a
- 4:03particular herb or food which they instinctively know will
- 4:07help them. The body consciousness has a
- 4:10tremendous power to heal itself if we don't try to apply our
- 4:14partial mental understanding and solutions to its action.
- 4:19The Mother provides yet another option, and that is to open
- 4:23oneself to the higher force of the divine, to be receptive and
- 4:28to allow that force to set things in order, the Mother
- 4:33writes. Quote There are people as soon
- 4:37as the least thing happens to their body, their mind is
- 4:41completely upset. There are others still who may
- 4:44be very ill and yet keep their mind clear.
- 4:48It is rarer and more difficult to see a mind that's upset and
- 4:52the body remaining healthy. It is not impossible, but it is
- 4:57much rarer, for the body depends a great deal on the state of the
- 5:01mind. The mind, I have written it
- 5:04there in the book, is the master of the physical being, and I
- 5:09have said the latter was a very docile and obedient servant.
- 5:14Only one doesn't know how to use one's mind, rather the opposite.
- 5:18Not only does one not know how to use it, but one uses it I'll
- 5:24as badly as possible. The mind has a considerable
- 5:28power of formation and a direct action on the body, and usually
- 5:331 uses this power to make oneself I'll.
- 5:37For as soon as the least thing goes wrong, the mind begins to
- 5:40shape and build all the catastrophes possible to ask
- 5:45itself whether it could be this, whether it could be that, if it
- 5:49is going to be like that, and how it will all end well if
- 5:55instead of letting the mind do this disastrous work, one used
- 6:00the same capacity to make favourable formations.
- 6:04Simply, for example, to give confidence to the body, to tell
- 6:08it that it is just a passing disturbance and that it is
- 6:12nothing, and if it enters a real state of receptivity, the
- 6:17disorder will disappear as easily as it has come, and one
- 6:21can cure oneself in a few seconds.
- 6:24If one knows how to do that, one gets wonderful results.
