Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Amy Gerrard.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Yep, and now Amy Gerrard. You've got to hit a
- 0:05Speaker 1: celeb news, don't you, Amy Gerrard?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I sure do, Mikey.
- 0:08Speaker 1: What up?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Miley Cyrus.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:11Speaker 2: So she almost backed out of one of her biggest
- 0:14Speaker 2: performances of her career. Good old Dolly Parton. She actually
- 0:18Speaker 2: talked her off the ledge and persuaded her to do this.
- 0:20Speaker 2: So it was back in 2024. Miley had released Flowers
- 0:25Speaker 2: the year before and it became one of the biggest
- 0:28Speaker 2: songs of her career.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Probably the biggest, I reckon, Flowers.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I reckon she's had so many. I love Wrecking Ball.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that was huge as well.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that's how it goes.
- 0:38Speaker 1: That's exactly how it sounds, right?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Anyway, she didn't want to perform because obviously she was
- 0:45Speaker 2: still getting over her heartbreak from her divorce from Liam Hemsworth.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I couldn't think of anything worse than getting up on
- 0:52Speaker 2: stage in front of hundreds of thousands of people and
- 0:56Speaker 2: performing a song whilst dealing with a broken heart either.
- 0:59Speaker 1: But it would be an epic performance full of emotion.
- 1:02Speaker 2: No, I just want to rot on a couch somewhere,
- 1:04Speaker 2: you know? Anyway, she got up. She didn't want to
- 1:08Speaker 2: do it, but she got up, and when she touched
- 1:11Speaker 2: down in Nashville, Dolly Parton drove herself to the airport
- 1:15Speaker 2: to pick up Miley, gave her a pep talk, and
- 1:19Speaker 2: she told Zane Lowe the story. So have a listen
- 1:22Speaker 2: to this.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Dolly was just always right about stuff. Like, she told
- 1:26Speaker 3: me for the Grammys, she was like, you need to, like...
- 1:31Speaker 3: Just fake it. Like, I'm like, but I don't want
- 1:34Speaker 3: to do it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I'm scared.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And she's telling me why I got to do the Grammys.
- 1:37Speaker 3: And I'm like, I can't. Like, you know what happened?
- 1:39Speaker 3: I feel like I'm still in this rest and recovery mode.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And she's like.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Get your hair teased and get a dress that you love.
- 1:46Speaker 3: And you're going to step into your Hannah Montana, your
- 1:48Speaker 3: Dolly Parton. Like, you have that part of yourself. Like,
- 1:52Speaker 3: you have that other thing. It's what the military uses.
- 1:55Speaker 3: It's what the best athletes use.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, good advice. And you do need someone just to
- 1:58Speaker 1: push you to do something. Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And not only did she go through with the performance
- 2:02Speaker 2: that night, but she won her first two Grammys. Yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 2: That night on the Flowers song as well. So great
- 2:08Speaker 2: advice from the late Dolly there. Dakota Johnson, do you
- 2:12Speaker 2: know her? She's the Fifty Shades.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Fifty Shades of Grey she starred in. She's opened up
- 2:19Speaker 2: about not being where she imagined she would be at
- 2:22Speaker 2: her age.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Mm.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And I can relate to this. You know, as a
- 2:26Speaker 2: kid or as a girl growing up, you always think, oh,
- 2:29Speaker 2: you know, I'll meet my husband at 22 and I'll
- 2:32Speaker 2: have a white picket fence at 25.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Be married and all of that.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Specifically, Dakota thought that she'd be a mother by now.
- 2:40Speaker 2: How old is she? She's 36.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And she told Vogue that it's hard to be around
- 2:44Speaker 2: my best friends and everyone has their baby and they're
- 2:47Speaker 2: starting their families soon. And then she went on to say,
- 2:49Speaker 2: I didn't expect to be this age and at this
- 2:51Speaker 2: place in my life. But whatever reason, that's the plan
- 2:55Speaker 2: of the universe. And I hope that having kids happens
- 2:57Speaker 2: for me.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Well, it still can. But yeah, I get that, mate.
- 3:00Speaker 1: All my mates went camping with their kids on the weekend.
- 3:05Speaker 1: One bloke went who didn't have kids. Don't know why
- 3:07Speaker 1: he wanted to.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I remember this. And you didn't get invited.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:10Speaker 4: And I'm like, they all doing things together because they've
- 3:13Speaker 4: all got kids.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And I haven't had them yet. But, you know, I just...
- 3:18Speaker 1: Keep going.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Do you want to be invited to those sorts of things?
- 3:21Speaker 1: Not overly.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I still found it weird that my mate– you don't
- 3:24Speaker 4: have kids, mate. Why did Grant go there? Why did
- 3:27Speaker 4: you go, Grant?
- 3:28Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? You want to
- 3:30Speaker 1: be surrounded by.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I can safely say that if I had, let's say,
- 3:35Speaker 2: a child-free weekend and there was a bunch of my
- 3:38Speaker 2: girlfriends and they were all going away to, I don't know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: a caravan park with all their kids, I would absolutely
- 3:43Speaker 2: not be going.
- 3:44Speaker 1: No.
- 3:45Speaker 4: But to be fair, though, like when, you know, they're
- 3:47Speaker 4: all doing things and it involves kids, you can sometimes
- 3:50Speaker 4: feel left out.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But it's all right. I've got my 30-year-old hot girlfriend,
- 3:53Speaker 1: so I'll just do stuff with her.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Well, you've just got to knock her up and then
- 3:55Speaker 2: you will have kids.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not hard.
- 3:59Speaker 3: No.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Wow.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Do you know how babies are made?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Oh, I do. We're just going to practice, I think.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Until I get it right.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Just don't leave it too long, you know?
- 4:09Speaker 1: Why? What happens? Well, I don't know.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Your swimmers get tired and they age.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it does happen to men as well, doesn't it?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I thought of freezing them once.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Freezing your swimmers yeah you can do that i know
- 4:22Speaker 2: women freeze their eggs i didn't realize men froze this yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I told my girlfriend that the other day the last
- 4:27Speaker 4: radio show before this one we were looking at doing
- 4:30Speaker 4: it they were gonna pay to do it but okay.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You know what you should do though what you should
- 4:35Speaker 2: do before it happened before you even freeze them you
- 4:38Speaker 2: should get it's tested you should get it tested to
- 4:42Speaker 2: see if it's worth it yeah well to see if
- 4:44Speaker 2: they're active yeah like my girlfriend's got hers tested, and
- 4:47Speaker 2: then her husband's were swimming round and round in circles,
- 4:50Speaker 2: so they went straight to IVF.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Gotcha. Couldn't I, though?
- 4:53Speaker 4: Like, it cost a fair bit of money. I'm thinking
- 4:54Speaker 4: I could just do it myself and whack it in
- 4:56Speaker 4: the freezer.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Or just in your freezer at home. Just like in what,
- 5:00Speaker 2: like an ice cube tray?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't work like that.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Don't confuse it with all the little bottles of Yakult
- 5:05Speaker 1: I have there as well.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Oh, yuck.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Separate them.
- 5:09Speaker 2: In this break.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Break over. Break over.
