Speaker 5: who's not been here for a while, is going to

Speaker 5: stop in to talk about a special event that's going
2:08
Speaker 5: on tomorrow at Greens Feed and Seed here in Charleston
2:12
Speaker 5: with the pick of the Litter Animal Rescue Group. We'll
2:14
Speaker 5: talk about that with him. Plus your calls and text
2:16
Speaker 5: are welcome to But I want to start by talking
2:18
Speaker 5: about high school football. We have Matt Guitar Murphy and
2:22
Speaker 5: Chris Lawrence with us. Matt, let's start with you because
2:24
Speaker 5: you're also doing double duty producing the show today, So
2:27
Speaker 5: I will start with you and we'll talk about your
2:29
Speaker 5: game that you and Tom Bragg are going to be covering.
2:32
Speaker 6: Yeah, we're going to be taking the trip down to
2:34
Speaker 6: Princeton tonight where Herbert Hoover will take on the Tigers.
2:39
Speaker 6: Dewey Fields squad last week a really fantastic win against
2:44
Speaker 6: a good Oak Hill team earlier in the season. You know,
2:47
Speaker 6: you see Hoover, they started a little bit slower in
2:50
Speaker 6: the games. By this point in the season, they're clicking
2:53
Speaker 6: on all cylinders. They started out the game just guns
2:56
Speaker 6: of blazon and they went through the entire game that way.
3:00
Speaker 6: Dane Hatfield, senior quarterback is the big leader there for
3:03
Speaker 6: the Hoover Huskies, and he is just just piling on
3:08
Speaker 6: the yards on a monumental career. He is up to
3:11
Speaker 6: twelve two and forty five career yards including passing and rushing.
3:16
Speaker 6: He's an all time yards leader for the Huskies. Of course,
3:19
Speaker 6: he's got a couple of utility guys around him, and
3:22
Speaker 6: Blake Fisher and Devin Silvis, so those guys will all
3:25
Speaker 6: have to come out tonight and take on an undefeated
3:28
Speaker 6: Princeton team. So both teams undefeated tonight, eleven and zero.
3:31
Speaker 6: So the winner tonight will head on to Charleston for
3:35
Speaker 6: the championship. But it's going to be a very difficult
3:38
Speaker 6: task on the road, the first playoff road game for
3:42
Speaker 6: the Huskies this season. They had home field advantage the
3:44
Speaker 6: last two weeks, but they are looking really good right now.
3:48
Speaker 6: So if they can get through the Tigers, they can
3:50
Speaker 6: advance to the championship.
3:52
Speaker 5: And Princeton is a very very tough place to play
3:54
Speaker 5: from what I understand well, and.
3:55
Speaker 6: It's going to be really cold tonight. Tom Bragg and
3:58
Speaker 6: I have been talking about the way either all week,
4:00
Speaker 6: just kind of watching the forecast. I feel like every
4:03
Speaker 6: day that we've checked us a little bit colder, so
4:06
Speaker 6: definitely gonna be wearing layers out there, but it should
4:09
Speaker 6: be a really good matchup.
4:10
Speaker 5: All right, Matt, I appreciate it very much. To switch
4:12
Speaker 5: over to Chris Lawrence. Chris, good morning, Good morning, you
4:15
Speaker 5: are ready to talk call some redskins.
4:17
Speaker 7: Foot indeed, we will try. We will be crossing the
4:20
Speaker 7: state again, headed back to the eastern Panhandle to bring
4:22
Speaker 7: you coverage tomorrow of Hurricane and spring Mills. This promises
4:27
Speaker 7: to be a good game. Spring Mills not been around
4:29
Speaker 7: that long. They were opened in twenty thirteen, and this
4:33
Speaker 7: is the only the second year they've been to the
4:35
Speaker 7: playoffs and the first time they've ever gotten out of
4:37
Speaker 7: the first round, so they're playing in the semi finals.
4:40
Speaker 7: Hurricane has been playing football for one hundred years and
4:43
Speaker 7: this will only be the second time they've made it
4:45
Speaker 7: to the semi finals. Neither one of these teams has
4:48
Speaker 7: ever been to the state championship, so one of them
4:51
Speaker 7: is going to make history tomorrow afternoon. Hurricane had a
4:54
Speaker 7: great game last week against Jefferson, went on the road
4:58
Speaker 7: and turned the tide early and and once they got
5:01
Speaker 7: up on on Jefferson, there was no looking back, So
5:06
Speaker 7: a big game tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock. Keep this
5:09
Speaker 7: in mind that Spring Mills has won eleven games. They
5:12
Speaker 7: are eleven and one. Nine of those wins were shutouts.
5:16
Speaker 7: They've only given up thirty seven points all season long,
5:19
Speaker 7: So pretty stingy defense by the Cardinals there. That hurricane's
5:23
Speaker 7: going to run into tomorrow afternoon. Nevertheless, we'll see how
5:27
Speaker 7: it goes out and you'll be able to catch all
5:29
Speaker 7: the action live here on five ADWCCHS. We will be
5:32
Speaker 7: on the air at one o'clock, the kickoff at one
5:34
Speaker 7: point thirty from Martinsburg.
5:36
Speaker 3: All right, sounds good.
5:37
Speaker 7: What do you got coming up on Westergy Outdoors tomorrow?
5:40
Speaker 7: We're going to have several really cool big buck stories
5:44
Speaker 7: for you. And the neat part of it is all
5:47
Speaker 7: of these bucks were killed on public land. So that's
5:50
Speaker 7: something that a lot of people talk about, is the
5:54
Speaker 7: difficulty of finding big bucks or hunting at all on
5:57
Speaker 7: public land and finding a place that you can get
6:00
Speaker 7: You know that you can find de youer on public
6:03
Speaker 7: land because it's so heavily pressured, but there are still
6:05
Speaker 7: big bucks out there in those areas if you're willing
6:08
Speaker 7: to spend a little boot leather and do your homework.
6:11
Speaker 7: And I've caught up with some guys who managed to
6:13
Speaker 7: do that, so we will talk to them tomorrow on
6:15
Speaker 7: the show.
6:15
Speaker 5: All right, Chris, appreciate it, man. I'm finally going to
6:17
Speaker 5: get make it to the Woods at some point. I mean,
6:19
Speaker 5: you're going to be able to make it because I
6:20
Speaker 5: know eventually you had to take some time off, you know,
6:22
Speaker 5: for the family stuff, and so are you going to
6:24
Speaker 5: make it at times?
6:25
Speaker 3: Eventually? I will, We'll see.
6:26
Speaker 7: I guess I've still got some opportunities, so that remains
6:29
Speaker 7: to be seen.
6:30
Speaker 5: We worry about your mental status if you don't get
6:34
Speaker 5: to the woods a certain amount of times.
6:36
Speaker 7: Well, so I'm not so sure that Woods is going
6:39
Speaker 7: to fix. You know, there's some things that can't be repaired.
6:41
Speaker 7: You can do it exactly, I mean, there's some things
6:44
Speaker 7: you just can't repair. But yeah, it would be nice
6:46
Speaker 7: to get out there and at least get something to
6:49
Speaker 7: eat for the summer for the winter. So I really
6:52
Speaker 7: don't want to be in a soup line, all right, Chris,
6:55
Speaker 7: I appreciate it, man, Thanks a lot. All right, man,
6:57
Speaker 7: And again Chris Well and Aaron will have coverage of
7:00
Speaker 7: the hurricane game coming up tomorrow afternoon. But Dave Island
7:03
Speaker 7: showing five eighty live is brought to you in part
7:05
Speaker 7: by Bridge Valley. If you're interested to prove in your
7:06
Speaker 7: company's IT workforce, please know they offer custom Taylor IT
7:10

7:12
Speaker 7: a little of no cost fifty to fifty salary match.
7:14
Speaker 7: They can also supply skilled graduates and apprenticeships for your
7:17
Speaker 7: company of Hisbridge Valley dot edu slash apprenticeships.
7:20
Speaker 3: Today, I'm going to.
7:23
Speaker 5: Now transition to talk to our good friend Hannah Gardner
7:25
Speaker 5: from the Kenneal Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt
7:28
Speaker 5: Me Please Pet of the Week. Hannah, good morning, how
7:30
Speaker 5: are you how?
7:33
Speaker 3: I am doing fine?
7:35
Speaker 8: Uh.
7:35
Speaker 5: So, we've got the animal posted as we always do
7:39
Speaker 5: are pet of the week. His name is Monty. He's
7:42
Speaker 5: a ten month old male, good looking dog. Tell us
7:45
Speaker 5: the story of Monty.
7:48
Speaker 9: Yeah, so he is a male and he is neutered already,
7:52
Speaker 9: so he would be good to go home with you
7:54
Speaker 9: as soon as you adopted him. He is around thirty
7:58
Speaker 9: eighth pound so I think the last time they weighed him,
8:02
Speaker 9: so he could be a little bit more, a little
8:04
Speaker 9: bit less, but I think he's still kind of you're
8:06
Speaker 9: talking at that thirty eight pounds. He is ten months,
8:10
Speaker 9: so he still has room to grow. He could probably
8:13
Speaker 9: get just a little bit bigger and fill out some more.
8:17
Speaker 9: But he is micro tripped and vaccinated as well. So
8:20
Speaker 9: since he's already neutered and already micro tripped and vaccinated,
8:23
Speaker 9: like I said, he'd be able to go right on
8:25
Speaker 9: home with you at his zero dollar adoption fee. Since
8:28
Speaker 9: he is fully sponsored already. I'm not exactly sure if
8:33
Speaker 9: it was a company or a specific person or anything
8:35
Speaker 9: like that that somebody from the public generously sponsored his
8:40
Speaker 9: adoption fee, so he is fully covered already, so you
8:43
Speaker 9: would not have to pay for the adoption fee itself.
8:47
Speaker 9: And he is a very very social guy and he's
8:49
Speaker 9: very very playful. He does still on the leash a
8:51
Speaker 9: little bit, but he's still a puppy, so he can
8:54
Speaker 9: work well with some training, and he would be really
8:56
Speaker 9: really good with a family probably. He's really great with
9:01
Speaker 9: other dogs. He's very very happy, loose and wiggly when
9:05
Speaker 9: he's in play groups with the other dogs, So we
9:08
Speaker 9: definitely would encourage him to be with another dog just
9:10
Speaker 9: because he's very playful with him and he's very happy
9:13
Speaker 9: and just he just seems like a happy, go lucky dog.
9:16
Speaker 9: But we always, of course, of course, of course, no
9:19
Speaker 9: matter what, no matter how friendly they may seem, always
9:22
Speaker 9: a as caution around kids, even other dogs, cats, anything
9:26
Speaker 9: like that, just because you never know what it could
9:29
Speaker 9: be like in a home and what we say his
9:32
Speaker 9: life is like in the shelter, it could be a
9:34
Speaker 9: little different when it looks like it's been a home.
9:37
Speaker 9: So definitely just be cautious regardless of any dog that
9:42
Speaker 9: you do have or do adopt. You never know exactly
9:46
Speaker 9: what may happen. But Monty is a very very good
9:48
Speaker 9: boy and he would be a very very good family dog.
9:50
Speaker 9: So come on out and meet him or foster him.
9:53
Speaker 9: He has a foster candidate, so he would be a great, great,
9:55
Speaker 9: great boy for that.
9:56
Speaker 3: He's a great looking dog.
9:57
Speaker 5: And again, if you want to see Mony's picture, I've
9:59
Speaker 5: got to post it on my social media. It's Dave
10:01
Speaker 5: Allen Radio and at Dave A seventy on xc ARE
10:04
Speaker 5: just formally known to Twitter, Hannah. I don't need to
10:07
Speaker 5: tell you or tell the listeners how cold it's been
10:09
Speaker 5: recently with the attempts we had last night, plenty more
10:12
Speaker 5: to come later this winter, although we are going to
10:14
Speaker 5: see a bit of a warm up over the next
10:15
Speaker 5: couple of days. You've got to get those animals inside.
10:18
Speaker 3: And I know that you have.
10:19
Speaker 5: Those people that say, well, I've got a fill in
10:21
Speaker 5: breed here and they love it outside. And look, I'm
10:23
Speaker 5: not going to argue people about that, but you've got
10:26
Speaker 5: to provide something for them outside right or inside.
10:31
Speaker 9: Yes, yes, it is getting colder. So of course we
10:34
Speaker 9: do always always recommend looking up some resources or even
10:39
Speaker 9: calling us so we can give you a lot of
10:40
Speaker 9: different resources to help out with outdoor animals that you
10:43
Speaker 9: may have, like cats that are roaming around or something
10:46
Speaker 9: like that. If you have more of like an indoor
10:49
Speaker 9: outdoor dog or something, or you know, I know there's
10:52
Speaker 9: people out there that have just fully outdoor dog. So
10:55
Speaker 9: if you do have any of those, just feel free
10:57
Speaker 9: to call us. We will help you if you're not
10:59
Speaker 9: sure of you know, like the weather, temperatures that dogs
11:03
Speaker 9: can stand and stuff like that. So definitely definitely reach
11:06
Speaker 9: out and we will definitely help out because we do
11:08
Speaker 9: want these babies to be safe and secure this wintern,
11:10
Speaker 9: all right, before.
11:11
Speaker 3: We let you go. How are we looking on numbers
11:12
Speaker 3: at the.
11:13
Speaker 9: Shelter, So we're still we're still prettyhigh. We done a
11:17
Speaker 9: good bit on Black Friday and Saturday and we definitely
11:23
Speaker 9: got a lot of them out the building. But of
11:25
Speaker 9: course it is that time of year where we just
11:28
Speaker 9: are well, actually, it's actually not really that time of year.
11:31
Speaker 9: I don't think that we were like this very much
11:33
Speaker 9: last year, still being so full during the winter months.
11:37
Speaker 9: So definitely come out, adopt, volunteer, foster, donate in any
11:43
Speaker 9: way that you can. We definitely appreciate every single thing.
11:46
Speaker 9: We also have stocking stuffers going on right now, so
11:48
Speaker 9: if you want to come up and grab a stocking stuffer,
11:50
Speaker 9: take it home with you, fill it up, bring it
11:52
Speaker 9: back for a shelter pet to open on Christmas morning,
11:55
Speaker 9: then that would be amazing and they would love it
11:57
Speaker 9: as well.
11:58
Speaker 3: All Right, Hannah's always appreciate you being here. Stay warm.
12:01
Speaker 3: We'll talk again soon.
12:02
Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, thank you, and a gardner again from
12:04
Speaker 5: the Kanaal Charleston Humaine Association with the story of Monty.
12:08
Speaker 5: This week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Mandis
12:10
Speaker 5: a ten month old male and he's free his His
12:13
Speaker 5: adoption has already been taken care of, so so no fees.
12:17
Speaker 5: He's already newtered, he's already micro chipped, already vaccinated. He's
12:20
Speaker 5: around thirty eight pounds. Great looking dog, very social, very playful,
12:25
Speaker 5: appears to be great with kids. But again they always
12:27
Speaker 5: want to advise caution. So check out Manti's picture. I've
12:31
Speaker 5: got him posted on Dave Island Radio on Facebook and
12:33
Speaker 5: at Dave a seventy on Twitter. And he's also a
12:36
Speaker 5: candidate for fostering. So if you just want to, like,
12:38
Speaker 5: you know, break him out of there for a little
12:40
Speaker 5: while and let him serve as your foster pet, you
12:43
Speaker 5: can do that as well.
12:44

13:16
Speaker 5: He is from the Pick of the Litter Animal Rescue Group.

14:26
Speaker 10: bold roadmap to help principled policymakers rapidly transform the Mountain
14:31
Speaker 10: State into a better place to live, work, and raise

14:46

14:52

14:56
Speaker 10: down the barriers that hold our citizens back, now is
14:59

Speaker 5: hear you say Porter Wagner was going to be on
16:11
Speaker 5: your show. I may have heard that totally wrong, though,
16:15
Speaker 5: Yes he is, and he's with us right now.
16:17
Speaker 3: You get that a lot, don't you, Porter. Yeah, I do. Yeah,
16:20
Speaker 3: I do, not that Porter Wagon.
16:22
Speaker 11: No, I'm not that one.
16:23

16:24

16:25

16:27
Speaker 5: because I'm because I'm actually looking.
16:28
Speaker 3: At him right here. Correct in studio.
16:30
Speaker 5: Porter Wagner's here again with the group Pick of the

16:35
Speaker 3: But welcome back to the show man. Haven't had you
16:37

16:37
Speaker 12: Everything's going to fine, thank you.
16:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, And of course you were you know
16:41
Speaker 5: where I first and I talked about this the last
16:43
Speaker 5: time you were on the first time I became acquainted
16:45
Speaker 5: with you was seeing the TV segments that you used
16:48
Speaker 5: to do, and uh and so, uh, we're glad to
16:50
Speaker 5: have you on.
16:50
Speaker 12: Radio when I worked with the Work for the Animal Shelf.
16:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you see you on there.
16:54
Speaker 5: But now now it's tell us before we get into
16:56
Speaker 5: the event that you've got going on, tell us about
16:58
Speaker 5: the rescue group that you're part of.
17:00
Speaker 12: Now, well, it's it's called Pick of the litter, and
17:02
Speaker 12: we concentrate a lot on puppies and kittens and really
17:05
Speaker 12: small neil nations, but we also do adult cats adult
17:09
Speaker 12: dogs too, which we try to help the ones that
17:11
Speaker 12: are abused or or neglected or on the street. And
17:15
Speaker 12: that's our purpose. That's our goal is to help as
17:19
Speaker 12: many animals as we possibly can. So we work at
17:21
Speaker 12: kind of conjunction with the animal shelter on green Bar Street.
17:25
Speaker 3: And how long has this group been in existence.
17:27
Speaker 12: Coming up on five years?
17:29
Speaker 3: And you do some wonderful things.
17:31
Speaker 12: And it is a five O three C five oh
17:33
Speaker 12: one C three. I'm sorry, So we're nonprofit, totally totally charitable.
17:38
Speaker 5: Let's let's talk about this event that you've got going
17:41
Speaker 5: on tomorrow. And there may be a little bit of
17:43
Speaker 5: confusion about it, because there seemed to be a couple
17:45
Speaker 5: of flyers out there floating around explaining that to us.
17:48
Speaker 12: The greens has their flyer and they, of course they
17:51
Speaker 12: say it's ten to three, and then our flyer says eleven,
17:55
Speaker 12: but we're going to start early at ten.
17:56
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, what are you going on over there?
17:58
Speaker 12: And this, by the way, yeah, greens Feet is actually
18:02
Speaker 12: hosting it, and we have a on good authority that
18:06
Speaker 12: Sannah will be there and there's going to be a
18:08
Speaker 12: professional photographer. It's going to take photos with your dog,
18:13
Speaker 12: your cat, your puppy, your kitten, and if it's also
18:16
Speaker 12: open for children or adults if they want to talk
18:19
Speaker 12: to Santa or if you want a picture with your
18:22
Speaker 12: kid with a dog or a cat. And we're also
18:25
Speaker 12: going to have dog treats for and cat treats for people,
18:30
Speaker 12: adults and animals, and of course greens Fee's got a
18:33
Speaker 12: bunch of stuff there too. Yeah, Rudolph's not going to
18:36
Speaker 12: be there. We tried, but he's back getting the reindeer
18:40
Speaker 12: in shape because.
18:41
Speaker 3: They've been this time of year.
18:42
Speaker 12: Yeah, they've been laying around all summer, so he's kind
18:44
Speaker 12: to getting them in shape.
18:46
Speaker 5: And you know, it's interesting Porter that you said this
18:48
Speaker 5: because on Facebook today I was just peruising around and
18:51
Speaker 5: I saw where somebody posted they said, does anybody know
18:54
Speaker 5: of any photographers that are doing pet pictures with Santa?
18:58
Speaker 5: And I actually I shared the flyer that you guys
19:02
Speaker 5: had from your Facebook page to that particular page. Hopefully
19:05
Speaker 5: you get some good turnout to marcause people people want
19:08
Speaker 5: to include their pets in their.
19:10
Speaker 12: I mean, it's they'll have little outfits. There's gonna be
19:13
Speaker 12: a couple of elves there, Santa's helpers. Uh I just
19:16
Speaker 12: noticed on there it's ten dollars for a digital copy
19:19
Speaker 12: so they'll email it to you, or fifteen dollars for
19:21
Speaker 12: an actual five by seven print. Okay, so should be
19:25
Speaker 12: a funny event. Should be a funny event.
19:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, the weather's going to be good to Mark, it's
19:27
Speaker 5: gonna actually warm up a little bit. Santa doesn't care
19:30
Speaker 5: how I know, Santa, but sometimes the pick Andese.
19:33
Speaker 2: Do, right.
19:34
Speaker 12: That's true, that's true.
19:35
Speaker 3: DJ Meadows is going to be joining us little bit
19:37
Speaker 3: later on DJ. You a pet gun.
19:38
Speaker 13: You know, I'm not a pet guy. I can barely
19:40
Speaker 13: take care of myself. It's not that I'm in high pet,
19:42
Speaker 13: but between myself my three kids, I'm pretty much I'm
19:46
Speaker 13: pretty much tapped out. But poor I was curious, at
19:49
Speaker 13: any given time, how many different animals are you guys
19:51
Speaker 13: trying to help. I mean, you talked about the need.
19:53
Speaker 13: I understand how great that need is.
19:54
Speaker 12: You're talking about the shelter. Ye both well, the shelter
19:58
Speaker 12: I think has total I mean I'm probably get this wrong,
20:01
Speaker 12: but over three hundred but that council ones that are
20:04
Speaker 12: actually in foster, the residents up there. I think you
20:07
Speaker 12: just talked to Hannah. There's like one hundred and some
20:09
Speaker 12: large dogs and they've.
20:11
Speaker 5: I mean every week Hannah comes on with us and
20:13
Speaker 5: she tells me, and if you follow them on social media,
20:15
Speaker 5: you'll know they've got them in offices, they've got them
20:19
Speaker 5: where ever they can find a place for them.
20:20
Speaker 11: And pick of the letter.
20:21
Speaker 12: Kristin couldn't be here, she had another she's the founder
20:24
Speaker 12: of it. She had another thing to do today. But
20:28
Speaker 12: right now we've got about five or seven in foster
20:32
Speaker 12: that are waiting to be adopted. We're currently caring for
20:36
Speaker 12: for several in her home, little tiny Neo Nate puppies
20:40
Speaker 12: and I mean, I'm sorry, kittens. So we always have
20:42
Speaker 12: something going on. There's about twenty I guess total that
20:47
Speaker 12: we're taking care of at the time.
20:49
Speaker 3: And that's one of.
20:49
Speaker 5: The things that Hannah and I frequently talk about, is
20:53
Speaker 5: that if you are interested in helping out the pets,
20:57
Speaker 5: and maybe you know you're not in a position to
21:00
Speaker 5: to take care of them full time or whatever. There's
21:02
Speaker 5: so many different things with groups like yours or with
21:04
Speaker 5: the shelter that you can help out by just taking
21:06
Speaker 5: them out for a weekend or a bring to foster.
21:09
Speaker 5: I've got a friend of mine, he and his wife
21:10
Speaker 5: are almost professional cat fosterers and that's what they do.
21:15
Speaker 12: And we take up a lot of the overflow these
21:17
Speaker 12: the small shelters. I mean, I'm sorry the rescues. We're
21:21
Speaker 12: just one of them that they overflow from the shelter.
21:24
Speaker 12: Rather than keeping them in there, we try to bring
21:26
Speaker 12: them out and help find foster so we have a
21:28
Speaker 12: foster base too.
21:29
Speaker 5: Yeah, and people don't realize I think sometimes how traumatic
21:33
Speaker 5: that being in that shelter can be for animals, especially
21:36
Speaker 5: those that may have one time been a pet and
21:40
Speaker 5: something happened.
21:40
Speaker 3: And it happens so often, and normally when I have
21:43
Speaker 3: Hannah on with our dot mey.
21:44
Speaker 5: Plicep out of the week, she'll try to give us
21:46
Speaker 5: a little background about this particular pet, whether it was
21:48
Speaker 5: a stray. But sadly, many times, you know, the owner
21:52
Speaker 5: passes away, or the owner moves somewhere where they can't
21:56
Speaker 5: take the pet with them, or something like that, and
21:58
Speaker 5: I always try to put my my mind as to
22:02
Speaker 5: what the animal is thinking. It was like, you know,
22:04
Speaker 5: I've been in somebody's loving home for seven or eight,
22:07
Speaker 5: nine years, and now all of a sudden that person's
22:09
Speaker 5: gone for one reason or another, and then you put
22:10
Speaker 5: them in a shelter.
22:11
Speaker 3: Many of them have no it is very stressful.
22:13
Speaker 5: No, no, no memory of every anything like. That's first
22:17
Speaker 5: time they've ever done that.
22:18
Speaker 12: So the pick of the letter is strictly foster based.
22:20
Speaker 12: Once we get them through the veterinarian and get get
22:23
Speaker 12: them healthy, they'll go to a foster and then of
22:25
Speaker 12: course up for adoption. And hopefully this this event will
22:30
Speaker 12: kind of bring awareness to it too.
22:31
Speaker 5: Yeah, hopefully that's and we'll get back to it here
22:33
Speaker 5: in a cople moments that do have a text here
22:34
Speaker 5: it says, I would love it if several people who
22:36
Speaker 5: work and or volunteer at each of the different shelters,
22:39
Speaker 5: the veterinarians offices, those who run rescues, and a few
22:42
Speaker 5: different fosters, along with some city and county officials as
22:45
Speaker 5: well as state legislators, to come on your show together
22:48
Speaker 5: and seriously address all the heartbreaking and horrific cases of abuse, neglect,
22:52
Speaker 5: and abandonments that seem to have drastically skyrocketed, not just
22:56
Speaker 5: in Canaal, Puttenham and Cabal Counties, but all across the
22:59
Speaker 5: state and the country. Some laws have to be changed.
23:01
Speaker 5: People have to start going to prison. We must be
23:04
Speaker 5: the voice for the voiceless.
23:05
Speaker 12: Right, I mean we're currently aware right now under Patrick
23:07
Speaker 12: Street Bridge there's two litters and there's just really yeah,
23:11
Speaker 12: and if they're still alive because it's so cold and
23:15
Speaker 12: the shelter of course is full and we're full, and
23:18
Speaker 12: we're trying constantly to.
23:21
Speaker 3: Do something about this. Well, you're to be commended for
23:24
Speaker 3: what you do.
23:24
Speaker 12: And we recently took a video of a dog abuse
23:27
Speaker 12: situation on Hutchinson Street and that person got arrested.
23:31
Speaker 13: Man as well. They should port of shame on me.
23:33
Speaker 13: This is the first time learning of your organization. I
23:35
Speaker 13: should should probably have known more about it. If someone's
23:38
Speaker 13: like me and they're listening now and they want to
23:40
Speaker 13: learn more about your organization, what you do, where can
23:42
Speaker 13: they go to find that?
23:43
Speaker 12: If we are on Facebook, and of course there's a
23:46
Speaker 12: website pick a Little Litter twenty twenty west, Pick of
23:49
Speaker 12: the Litter West Virginia dot org. The information come down
23:54
Speaker 12: to greens feed and we'll be there. Yeah.
23:57
Speaker 3: It wraps all over Facebook. Yeah. Just look, we're picking
24:00
Speaker 3: the litter West Virginia.
24:01
Speaker 5: Yes, I'm hard to find. And I'll tell you there's
24:03
Speaker 5: a lot of events going on. You get all these
24:04
Speaker 5: Christmas parades and whatever. There's three in the area that
24:07
Speaker 5: I know, three or four that I know of tomorrow.
24:09
Speaker 5: And I say that to say, if people are out
24:11
Speaker 5: running around doing whatever.
24:12
Speaker 3: Just swing by green Feed and Seed.
24:14
Speaker 5: And even if you don't bring your pet with you,
24:17
Speaker 5: because you know, I'm a cat guy and my cats
24:18
Speaker 5: never leave the house. They have no interest in we
24:20
Speaker 5: ever leaving the house. You know, they were brought in
24:22
Speaker 5: as strays. And they're like, yeah, I'm not going out there.
24:24
Speaker 12: Go to the shelter and get a dog, get a cat,
24:26
Speaker 12: and come down to greens Feed. Yeah, and get a
24:28
Speaker 12: photo at least then and we'll guess out for a
24:30
Speaker 12: little bit.
24:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, guess for a car, right exactly. Now, give us
24:32
Speaker 3: the all the details on the time and so on
24:35
Speaker 3: and so forth, to give it you there tomorrow.
24:36

24:39

28:16
Speaker 5: now know that there's not going to be a special session. Now,
28:19
Speaker 5: this was a bizarre lead up to a session that
28:22

Speaker 3: What do we call you now, Tej?
28:53
Speaker 13: Jack of all trades, master of none, you know, whatever
28:56
Speaker 13: cliche you prefer. Can I just say return to a
28:59
Speaker 13: second for the the topic of Neil Brown, I gotta
29:01
Speaker 13: tell you, as a lifelong WVU fan, I think my
29:04
Speaker 13: first game I was six years old, as a WVU alum,
29:09
Speaker 13: As a guy that's worked around the football team a
29:11
Speaker 13: little bit I really appreciate how Neil Brown has represented
29:18
Speaker 13: this state, in this university, and how he has poured
29:21
Speaker 13: in to young men to mold them as leaders, understanding
29:26
Speaker 13: that most of them aren't going to the league, exposing
29:29
Speaker 13: them to different opportunities, teaching them how to live life.
29:33
Speaker 13: And at the end of the day, I'm also, you know,
29:36
Speaker 13: a pragmatist. It's about wins and losses. Is as simple
29:39
Speaker 13: as it can get. And you got to win in
29:41
Speaker 13: today's culture. And this is a guy that came in
29:44
Speaker 13: and tackled COVID. This is a guy that was trying
29:46
Speaker 13: to mold the NIL and everything that was going on
29:49
Speaker 13: in a time where you know, frankly West Virginia University
29:52
Speaker 13: was a little slow to get on board with that,
29:55
Speaker 13: and so he's always been at a disadvantage. But to
29:58
Speaker 13: be able to walk away and walk away in the
30:01
Speaker 13: fashion that he has and the way people have showed
30:04
Speaker 13: an outpouring of support. Look, these players, they don't blow smoke.
30:09
Speaker 13: And to see the outpouring that he's got on social
30:11
Speaker 13: media from his players, I have no doubt when he's
30:14
Speaker 13: on with Hobby today, at the conclusion of that interview,
30:17
Speaker 13: we will all be saying to ourselves. We're better for
30:19
Speaker 13: having had Neil Brown at this university and just the
30:22
Speaker 13: way that he's hand And one of the things I
30:24
Speaker 13: liked about him as well is the way he came
30:27
Speaker 13: into West Virginia not a West Virginian, but he totally
30:31
Speaker 13: adopted West Virginia and not only adopted, but adapted to
30:36
Speaker 13: the mountain state. And then he taught his players the
30:39
Speaker 13: importance of the things that we hold near and dear
30:42
Speaker 13: in West Virginia. I mean, this is again not a
30:45
Speaker 13: guy that had, as far as I know, ties to
30:47
Speaker 13: West Virginia, so to speak. But he came in here
30:49
Speaker 13: and he really became a West Virginian and he seems
30:53
Speaker 13: like a really really I've only been around him a
30:55
Speaker 13: couple of times, seems like a really, really decent human being.
30:58
Speaker 13: Not a hint of a controversy in where in the
31:00
Speaker 13: Neil Brown program other than the fact that he didn't
31:04
Speaker 13: win as much as people would like and the pit
31:07
Speaker 13: losses and in the rivalry games, and you had a
31:09
Speaker 13: difficult time beating teams with winning records. And I understand
31:14
Speaker 13: it's all about winning. I mean, it's all it's I mean,
31:16
Speaker 13: anybody that says that college athletics is about academics.
31:21
Speaker 5: You're an idiot, okay, because it's not. It's not about
31:24
Speaker 5: academics at all. And now it's become a business more
31:27
Speaker 5: than ever with the transfer portal. You know, the team
31:31
Speaker 5: that West Virginia University fielded in twenty twenty four is
31:34
Speaker 5: not going to be a lot of them anyway, the
31:37
Speaker 5: same as it was in twenty twenty five. An athlete
31:40
Speaker 5: comes into the program. Now it's all about what can
31:42
Speaker 5: I do? How much money can I make for my family?
31:45
Speaker 5: What sponsorship can you give me with a car dealership,
31:48
Speaker 5: you know, with the nil stuff.
31:49
Speaker 3: That's what it's all about now. And these coaches.
31:52
Speaker 5: And I was having a conversation with a good friend
31:55
Speaker 5: of mine who's a big, big time WVU.
31:56
Speaker 3: Gal last night.
31:57
Speaker 5: He and I were talking, and you know, they they
32:00
Speaker 5: throw out the name Rich Rod, and they throw out
32:01
Speaker 5: Jimbo and obviously other names. You know, they've been involved
32:05
Speaker 5: in college athletics. You know, Rich has had some success,
32:09
Speaker 5: especially down in Jacksonville State. But now it's not about
32:14
Speaker 5: x's and o's anymore. You know, it's not about how
32:16
Speaker 5: do you manage the It's all about managing the cap
32:20
Speaker 5: and it's all about dealing with athletes now and this
32:24
Speaker 5: is old guy in me talking athletes now that are
32:26
Speaker 5: more concerned with their YouTube videos, with their tiktoks and
32:31
Speaker 5: being on Sports Center than they are not say all,
32:34
Speaker 5: but a great number of are much more concerned about
32:37
Speaker 5: that and their brand than they are whether they win
32:40
Speaker 5: a game, whether your university goes to a bowl game,
32:43
Speaker 5: or oddly enough, whether you graduate or not. But the
32:47
Speaker 5: graduation rate at WVU has been extremely good under Neil Brown,
32:53
Speaker 5: which is good and as you said, and will get
32:55
Speaker 5: off sports, as you said, the majority of these athletes
32:59
Speaker 5: and not a knock against West Virginia University, it's just
33:02
Speaker 5: the fact they are not going to go and play
33:04
Speaker 5: anywhere else. Some may end up in Canada or in
33:07
Speaker 5: the in the in the UFL or Europe or whatever
33:11
Speaker 5: leagues that are out there right now. Some of those
33:12
Speaker 5: may arena leagues or whatever. Their careers are pretty much done.
33:17
Speaker 7: Yeah.
33:17
Speaker 13: The other big concern I have is, you know, some
33:20
Speaker 13: of these folks that are getting money and they're not
33:22
Speaker 13: going to go to the league, or if they do,
33:23
Speaker 13: it's not for long. That's what the NFL stands for.
33:26
Speaker 13: You know. You hear about the kid at Michigan they
33:28
Speaker 13: got what twelve million dollars? I think it was some
33:30
Speaker 13: astronomical number. How does an eighteen nineteen year old kid
33:35
Speaker 13: understand how to manage that kind of money and invest
33:38
Speaker 13: it so that they're not broke.
33:39
Speaker 5: When the majority of you come from backgrounds that whether
33:43
Speaker 5: they're inner city or rural you know as we are, ye,
33:46
Speaker 5: that didn't come from that kind of money, and so
33:48
Speaker 5: they have no idea. You can't think a kid it
33:50
Speaker 5: has nothing, and now you're throwing hundreds of thousands of
33:53
Speaker 5: dollars add him through nil. And I mean, you know,
33:56
Speaker 5: I was eighteen or nineteen years old once. My first
33:58
Speaker 5: thing is well, I'm going to go get a car. Yeah,
34:00
Speaker 5: that's my bad. I'm not thinking a couple of twelve.
34:03
Speaker 5: I'm not thinking I'm going to go get a role ax.
34:05
Speaker 5: I'm not thinking about what I'm gonna do, you know,
34:08
Speaker 5: investment wise or whatever. But I think it's going to
34:10
Speaker 5: be an interesting interview with Neil Brown. Again, he's this
34:12
Speaker 5: is the first set down interview that he's done since
34:15
Speaker 5: the firing. Two segments at least with Hobby coming up
34:18
Speaker 5: introduced talk that at ten oh six. So Dave Allen
34:20
Speaker 5: showing five any live broad to part by Morgan to Morgan,
34:22
Speaker 5: America's largest injury law firm. All right, so TJ under
34:25
Speaker 5: the dome this weekend, we were having a special session.
34:29
Speaker 5: Now we're not. The interims are still going on. But
34:32
Speaker 5: this has been a bizarre twenty four hours when this
34:37
Speaker 5: first and it started leaking actually more than twenty four
34:39
Speaker 5: hours ago. But there would be a special session. I
34:41
Speaker 5: talked about it a little bit yesterday. I know that
34:43
Speaker 5: Brad's followed it and Steven Allen Adams and all the
34:45
Speaker 5: people we have on the show on a regular basis,
34:47
Speaker 5: Amelia that they're going to have this major economic announcement
34:52
Speaker 5: and it's going to coincide with interims.
34:55
Speaker 3: But then they find out.
34:56
Speaker 5: Yesterday in consulting with the Secretary of States office, that
35:02
Speaker 5: if they were to do any voting, as best I
35:04
Speaker 5: understand it, during a special session, it wouldn't be the
35:09
Speaker 5: current legislators that were there, it would be the future legislators.
35:14
Speaker 3: Correct.
35:15
Speaker 13: Yeah, as best as I can understand it, I think
35:18
Speaker 13: there's a case on the books that goes back. I
35:19
Speaker 13: believe it was nineteen thirty one, and you can check
35:22
Speaker 13: the reporting from you know, Brad Steven Amelia All. I've
35:25
Speaker 13: read all of their pieces, very well done, and it
35:30
Speaker 13: would compel the Secretary of State in a special or
35:34
Speaker 13: extraordinary session to I'm going to paraphrase, bring the roles forward.
35:38
Speaker 13: The voting certificates, and all of those were due in
35:41
Speaker 13: to the Secretary of State i think earlier this week
35:43
Speaker 13: from the counties basically certified election results. So that would
35:47
Speaker 13: compel the Secretary of State in this case mac Warner
35:49
Speaker 13: to come forward and present those roles of new legislators
35:53
Speaker 13: to I would imagine the House and Senate leadership, so
35:57
Speaker 13: in this case the or the House Clerk and the
35:59
Speaker 13: Senate clerk, and so those what little more than twenty
36:03
Speaker 13: individuals I think within both houses that are new mostly Republicans,
36:06
Speaker 13: almost all Republicans, would would be compelled to come forward,
36:11
Speaker 13: and if they were in attendance, would displace the former lawmaker.
36:16
Speaker 13: And so you know, that is obviously, as you might imagine,
36:19
Speaker 13: could be logistically problematic. Within you know, twenty four hours
36:23
Speaker 13: forty eight.
36:24
Speaker 5: Example of one that I know very well who is
36:27
Speaker 5: who was elected to the House as a Republican and
36:31
Speaker 5: he is replacing a sitting delegate who chose not to
36:34
Speaker 5: run for re election. Yeah, so this gentleman who's a newcomer,
36:38
Speaker 5: he's never served before, would be coming in and would
36:42
Speaker 5: be asked to vote and to do all the things
36:45
Speaker 5: when he's not officially you know, he's not he probably
36:48
Speaker 5: didn't have a desk yet, he's not been there's no
36:50
Speaker 5: office assignments yet.
36:52
Speaker 3: That could be very, very problematic.
36:54
Speaker 5: And now that we're in the month of December, a
36:56
Speaker 5: lot of these folks are saying, Okay, well, the legislature
36:59
Speaker 5: is going to get started, starts at later this year
37:00
Speaker 5: because it's a gubernatorial succession here. So but a lot
37:04
Speaker 5: of them are you thinking holidays, They're you know, taking
37:06
Speaker 5: up the you know how it is the end of
37:07
Speaker 5: the year. People are taking their leftover vacation whatever. So, yeah,
37:11
Speaker 5: it could it could be very problematic. So we're not
37:13
Speaker 5: having a special session, but interims are still going on,
37:17
Speaker 5: and it is believed that the Republicans will be caucusing
37:21
Speaker 5: on Sunday Monday to make a to decide who's going
37:25
Speaker 5: to be a new Senate president. It's there's three names,
37:29
Speaker 5: Eric Tarr, Tom Tacubo, and Randy Smith. And I've talked
37:33
Speaker 5: to a lot of people under the dome that are
37:36
Speaker 5: siding with this guy or side with that guy, side
37:37
Speaker 5: with that guy.
37:38
Speaker 3: I think it's going to be very contentious.
37:40
Speaker 13: Yeah, and I think it'll be close. But you know,
37:42
Speaker 13: the whole idea of that special session kind of brought
37:44
Speaker 13: up another issue. You know, Tom Willis out of the
37:46
Speaker 13: Panhandle beat Craig Blair, Kring Blair is no longer going
37:49
Speaker 13: to be a Senator. So if Willis showed up, if
37:53
Speaker 13: they had this session and Willis showed up, the understanding
37:56
Speaker 13: was that Craig Blair would still be the presiding, non
37:59
Speaker 13: voting office over the Senate. And that goes back to
38:02
Speaker 13: a nineteen eighty four writ of mandamus from Neely on
38:05
Speaker 13: the Supreme Court at the time that you had McGraw
38:09
Speaker 13: and Rockefeller and Rockefeller, you know, leaving the governorship and
38:14
Speaker 13: very interesting and you know, we had a whole debate.
38:17
Speaker 3: On X about this is not a debate.
38:19
Speaker 13: I would call it an enlightening because I learned something
38:21
Speaker 13: and we decided at the end of the day that
38:23
Speaker 13: this should probably be a new question for the Golden
38:25
Speaker 13: Horseshoe Exam because it was that nuanced. But essentially, what
38:29
Speaker 13: would happen is you would have Craig Blair continuing independently
38:34
Speaker 13: to preside as a non voting officer until such election,
38:37
Speaker 13: and even if the caucus comes up and picks their guy,
38:39
Speaker 13: I think it's January eighth before that person actually steps in.
38:42
Speaker 13: So you get all these nuances going on, and to
38:46
Speaker 13: your point, interims are coming, so we're probably going to
38:48
Speaker 13: get an understanding of who that leadership person, who the
38:50
Speaker 13: president is going to be, and then maybe even some
38:52
Speaker 13: chairs after that. Here's the interesting thing that it's not
38:55
Speaker 13: getting answered, and this is kind of getting I don't
38:57
Speaker 13: want to say lost in the conversation because just one
39:00
Speaker 13: knows why why were we doing this? What was the
39:05
Speaker 13: sense of urgency? I mean, it's been pretty well, you know,
39:08
Speaker 13: rumored that it was somehow leaked to the Berkshire Hathaway
39:11
Speaker 13: energy deal that was going on with the timid melting
39:18
Speaker 13: operation that they had going on precision cast parts up
39:21
Speaker 13: at the Old Century Aluminum site. But why why is
39:24
Speaker 13: it so important that it has to happen now? I
39:28
Speaker 13: have a theory on that. I don't know how far
39:30
Speaker 13: down the rabbit hole you want to go, but it's Friday, man,
39:33
Speaker 13: go ahead, do we have time?
39:35
Speaker 3: Go ahead?
39:36
Speaker 13: So It's interesting. Actually in the piece we were talking
39:38
Speaker 13: about a million nicely at West Virginia Watch. I was
39:40
Speaker 13: reading her piece. She's quoting Vernon Chris from from Wood County,
39:45
Speaker 13: who's the current Finance chair in the House. And one
39:48
Speaker 13: of the things that he talked about, he said, you know,
39:51
Speaker 13: maybe this is something that has to be done for
39:55
Speaker 13: for a permitting or a tax standpoint, needs to be done.
40:00
Speaker 13: Got me thinking, and I started thinking, if I was
40:02
Speaker 13: building a micro grid, a solar micro grid, and I
40:07
Speaker 13: had to make that economically palatable, what's what's in the
40:11
Speaker 13: mix and what could change. And this is where Washington
40:13
Speaker 13: comes in. In twenty twenty five, there's going to be
40:16
Speaker 13: a huge issue tax issue that Capitol Hill is going
40:20
Speaker 13: to have to wrangle with because the tax cuts and
40:21
Speaker 13: Job Acts of twenty seventeen that brought all of our
40:24
Speaker 13: taxes down, brought down the corporate net income tax that
40:26
Speaker 13: expires if it's not re upped. At the same time,
40:30
Speaker 13: you've got the IRA that has incentive tax credits production
40:34
Speaker 13: tax credits to the tune of almost thirty percent for
40:37
Speaker 13: a lot of these solar projects. The talk in Washington
40:41
Speaker 13: is if we want to continue the tax CUTT and
40:45
Speaker 13: Job Act, and the President campaigned on this, although I
40:48
Speaker 13: don't think you can put all of the toothpaste back
40:50
Speaker 13: in the tube. Do we want to roll back the IRA?
40:54
Speaker 13: Do we want to take that thirty percent ITC and
40:56
Speaker 13: PTC off the table? I think EVS and those tax credits,
40:59
Speaker 13: those are probably gone from the people I talked to
41:01
Speaker 13: in Washington.
41:03
Speaker 3: But you know, if you.
41:04
Speaker 13: Took what's left of the IRA and stripped it away,
41:07
Speaker 13: you know you're talking about maybe six hundred million dollars
41:11
Speaker 13: versus the billions and billions that you're going to need
41:13
Speaker 13: for the tax CUTT and Job backed and that is
41:15
Speaker 13: a signature piece of legislation that the President got through
41:18
Speaker 13: in his first term. So, if you're BH, or you're
41:21
Speaker 13: someone that has made an investment banking on these tax
41:24
Speaker 13: credits to make your investment palatable, what do you want
41:29
Speaker 13: to do to get grandfathered in? And one of the
41:31
Speaker 13: provisions is if you've got a certain percentage of construction
41:34
Speaker 13: done by this year, you can be grandfathered into the
41:37
Speaker 13: IRS regulations. I'm not saying that's what's going on here,
41:40
Speaker 13: but I'm trying to put everything together and piece of
41:42
Speaker 13: story in my mind that makes sense. And when you
41:46
Speaker 13: talk about what was rumored to be in that bill
41:48
Speaker 13: expanding the acreage, right, maybe they need more solar panels
41:51
Speaker 13: than what they first thought, so they need larger lands,
41:54
Speaker 13: allowing the lands to be not just state owned or least,
41:58
Speaker 13: but I guess Private Land Act position to come in
42:01
Speaker 13: in the back of my mind. All of this kind
42:04
Speaker 13: of comes together to say, look, you know, we're depending
42:06
Speaker 13: on these itcs and PTCs. We need to make sure
42:09
Speaker 13: we get this thing rolling, and we need to check
42:11
Speaker 13: whatever box of the FEDS, and we need to and
42:13
Speaker 13: we need some help from the state legislature to ensure
42:15
Speaker 13: we can make that happen.
42:16
Speaker 3: Talking to TJ.
42:17
Speaker 5: Meadows again, the Dave Island Show and five ety LIVEE
42:19
Speaker 5: presented depart by Generations Physical Therapy nine practices all offered
42:23
Speaker 5: extended hour. So access to physical therapy has never been
42:25
Speaker 5: easier for an appointment called three zero, four, seven, six,
42:28
Speaker 5: zero fifty six to sixty or visit generationspt dot com.
42:31
Speaker 13: That's a hypothesis on my part. Take that and whatever
42:34
Speaker 13: it costs for a cup of coffee at go Mart
42:36
Speaker 13: three bucks, and you'll get that cup of coffee.
42:38
Speaker 3: Right all right? Let me do this the lead story
42:40
Speaker 3: this morning.
42:41
Speaker 5: I'll do this and we'll go to break because I
42:42
Speaker 5: gotta I want to pick your brand on some national things.
42:45
Speaker 5: Lead story this morning. Brad's got at wv metronews dot
42:47
Speaker 5: com and he'll be on with Hopy to talk about it.
42:49
Speaker 5: The PEIA Finance Board is set to adopt most of
42:53
Speaker 5: the cost increases for employees and retirees, what would probably
42:56
Speaker 5: be around a forty percent or so increase in deductibles
42:59
Speaker 5: are an average of more than three hundred bucks, and
43:01
Speaker 5: bumping up the costs for spouses from one hundred and
43:04
Speaker 5: forty seven to three fifty.
43:05
Speaker 3: That's three hundred and fifty. Most people, TJ.
43:09
Speaker 5: I don't know how closely you followed is, but most
43:10
Speaker 5: people on the side of say the unions aren't blaming
43:14
Speaker 5: the PEA.
43:14
Speaker 3: Board at all.
43:15
Speaker 5: They're blaming the legislature. We're allowing it to get this way.
43:20
Speaker 5: Any thoughts from you on.
43:21
Speaker 13: That, Yeah, I went to the Charleston meeting on this
43:23
Speaker 13: and full disclosure transparency. My wife sets on the PEIA
43:28
Speaker 13: Finance Board, so you know it's not something she and
43:31
Speaker 13: I talk about. We prefer not to talk about those
43:33
Speaker 13: things around the dinner table. Yeah, just full disclosure. She
43:36
Speaker 13: does her thing, I do mine. But I did go
43:38
Speaker 13: to the Charleston meeting because it was curious. I would
43:40
Speaker 13: say ninety percent of the people weren't blaming the board.
43:42
Speaker 13: I think there's probably ten percent that blames the board
43:44
Speaker 13: and the legislature. It's unfortunate, but look, there are a
43:48
Speaker 13: lot of external factors that the PAA Finance Board doesn't control,
43:52
Speaker 13: or even the legislature for that standpoint, medical inflation. The
43:55
Speaker 13: costs are going up. But when I look at the
43:57
Speaker 13: situation and I compare it to the market, you know
44:02
Speaker 13: where I'm employed. I mean, for the most part, we
44:04
Speaker 13: don't even have a PPO option anymore. Everything is a
44:07
Speaker 13: high deductible plan. And that's just the way the private
44:09
Speaker 13: sector is moving. I look at how many people are
44:11
Speaker 13: on the states PIA high delictible plan. I think out
44:14
Speaker 13: of the what tens of thousands they insureds, about eight
44:16
Speaker 13: fourteen hundred people maybe, I think was the number I saw.
44:19
Speaker 3: So it's very nil.
44:21
Speaker 13: I get that, Hey, we give great benefits because we
44:23
Speaker 13: don't have great pay Look, something is only sustainable as
44:29
Speaker 13: long as it is, and with the dire economics that
44:32
Speaker 13: we face here in West Virginia oftentimes. I don't know
44:35
Speaker 13: how you're going to fix this. I don't know what
44:37
Speaker 13: the quote unquote permanent fix is other than one of
44:40
Speaker 13: the things I heard at the Charleston meeting, which I
44:42
Speaker 13: think is just a horrible idea to entertain. I mean,
44:45
Speaker 13: let's talk about everything, but it was floated again. Hey,
44:48
Speaker 13: let's put you know, let's put an income tax on
44:51
Speaker 13: every deck or every MCF gas that we drill that
44:54
Speaker 13: goes out of the state. Natural gas is a commodity.
44:57
Speaker 13: It's traded as a commodity at various price points, the
45:00
Speaker 13: used to set by Henry Hub down in Louisiana. And
45:02
Speaker 13: we have a negative basis here, which means, you know,
45:04
Speaker 13: if Henry Hub's at three bucks, we might get a
45:06
Speaker 13: buck fifty here for a MCF. I'd have to look
45:09
Speaker 13: this morning and see what it is. With that said,
45:11
Speaker 13: all you're gonna do is disincentivize exploration companies to come
45:14
Speaker 13: into West Virginia and drill here. They'll go to pa
45:17
Speaker 13: and the marcellis there, or the Utica in Ohio. And
45:21
Speaker 13: you know, if you're looking to run an industry off,
45:25
Speaker 13: in my humble opinion, that's one way to start.

Speaker 5: text that while sitting across the table? I know you
48:58
Speaker 5: excuse me all the time. No, there was there was no.
49:02
Speaker 5: It was an employment thing. I had nothing to do
49:03
Speaker 5: with the talk line. It was things you were doing
49:05
Speaker 5: outside of radio that. Okay, you went to jail. Let's
49:09
Speaker 5: just could put it out. Well, yeah, no, so he
49:10
Speaker 5: didn't go to so.
49:11
Speaker 13: Believe it or not. I have a full time job
49:15
Speaker 13: aside from any of this, and you know, honestly, at
49:18
Speaker 13: the time, I had responsibilities that were a little bit
49:23
Speaker 13: higher profile for my employer. I spoke publicly on their
49:25
Speaker 13: behalf in many instances, and a lot of the industry
49:30
Speaker 13: that I was in is stuff that comes up on
49:31
Speaker 13: a show like talk line. So it just wasn't a
49:34
Speaker 13: good idea at the time me to be doing that
49:36
Speaker 13: at the time. And now you know, I've retired now
49:38
Speaker 13: from where I'm at, and so I can, you know,
49:41
Speaker 13: come on here and talk.
49:41
Speaker 3: With you on occasion.
49:42
Speaker 5: All right, Lucky, you mean yeah, I mean that's sincerely
49:45
Speaker 5: about the way. Going back to the issues in West Virginia, Texas,
49:49
Speaker 5: the real issue here is that the people of the
49:50
Speaker 5: governor's office simply don't know what they're doing. They present
49:53
Speaker 5: themselves as amateurs, and I don't I don't know that
49:56
Speaker 5: to be true or not true or whatever, but I
49:59
Speaker 5: did want to.
50:00
Speaker 13: In more context.
50:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, well, follow follow up that texture if well, well,
50:04
Speaker 5: I tell you that older vaccines should protect themselves against

50:18
Speaker 5: All right, before we go, I want to get your
50:20
Speaker 5: take on some national things here. Okay, I mean, I
50:24
Speaker 5: use this joke, but I totally stole from a stand
50:26
Speaker 5: up comedian who the president's folks are referred to as
50:29
Speaker 5: the cabinet, some of the people that he's put out
50:31
Speaker 5: there and some of these positions could be referred to
50:33
Speaker 5: as the junk drawer. I stole that completely from a
50:36
Speaker 5: stand up comedian. I mean some of these guys. I mean,
50:39
Speaker 5: I know Matt Gates is his comeback. I mean I
50:41
Speaker 5: think we all pretty much ye know that. But now
50:44
Speaker 5: this HEGSAF guy, Now, where are you on him? And
50:48
Speaker 5: some of the others, Lynda McMahon or some of the others.
50:51
Speaker 13: I think hegsth Is is front and center. I think
50:55
Speaker 13: for me personally, you know, if I'm picking a defense secretary,
50:58
Speaker 13: I want a guy who's been a four star general,
51:00
Speaker 13: that's won battles and you know, has been a little
51:03
Speaker 13: bit elevated and has some executive experience. I'm not knocking
51:07
Speaker 13: heg Seth, but I mean from an executive what kind
51:09
Speaker 13: of organization has he ever run? You know, And even
51:12
Speaker 13: if you have strong number twos and threes around you,
51:15
Speaker 13: you need the experience of running a large fortune five
51:19
Speaker 13: hundred or some kind of organization as big as the
51:22
Speaker 13: Defense Department. Here's the thing. Man. You know, I think
51:26
Speaker 13: he deserves a fair hearing, and I don't think I
51:30
Speaker 13: think it's actually wise not to judge until all of
51:32
Speaker 13: the information is there. You and I will never have that.
51:35
Speaker 5: And I'm hearing though there is some scuttle that the
51:37
Speaker 5: Trump is starting to back away from there is.
51:39
Speaker 13: Public documented but at the same time on truth social
51:41
Speaker 13: this morning, about thirty minutes ago, Trump came out and
51:44
Speaker 13: said it was all fake news. So you know this
51:46
Speaker 13: is classic president, you know, hedging his bets. Does he
51:50
Speaker 13: really want heg Seth? Will he die on the heg
51:52
Speaker 13: Seth Hill? I don't think so.
51:54
Speaker 3: But what do I know?
