- 0:01What makes us move in One Direction or another?
- 0:05How do we choose, decide, set forth in One Direction as
- 0:09opposed to another? There's the inner readiness that
- 0:13creates a sense of incompleteness, dissatisfaction,
- 0:18or a view of something better, more perfect, more beautiful,
- 0:21more essential than what we experience now.
- 0:26We move generally first through the force of repulsion.
- 0:29We become dissatisfied, unable to accept our lives the way they
- 0:34are. We may be discouraged,
- 0:37depressed, isolated, or lonely, and we determine that we have to
- 0:43escape this life and try something new, go someplace
- 0:47else, learn some new skill, or otherwise make a change in our
- 0:52lives. This we may call the negative
- 0:55impetus to change, as it stems from a repulsion from what is
- 1:00our current situation, either individually or in the world
- 1:05around us. This path generally starts from
- 1:08an exercise of our vital force, our willpower, and our effort to
- 1:12change. This path may involve active
- 1:16rejection, opposition, and a struggle to rid ourselves of the
- 1:20vestiges of the past that represent the old ways.
- 1:26There is also the positive approach, the way of attraction.
- 1:30We experience something which shows us that there is a way of
- 1:33beauty, harmony, goodness filled with life and joy and growth,
- 1:40and we yearn to reach that and establish it in our lives.
- 1:45Devotion, love, consecration all develop from the path of
- 1:50attraction. This path also leads to
- 1:53abandonment of the status quo, but not through a sense of
- 1:57rejection or act of renunciation, but through a
- 2:01natural change of focus based on a new, all attractive goal we
- 2:07see in front of us. Whichever force moves us first,
- 2:12eventually they can reach the same end point.
- 2:15The old ways that bind humanity down to habits and restrictions
- 2:19that hold us back are left behind, and we take up a new
- 2:23life. In doing so, we can observe the
- 2:27interchanges in our way of seeing the world, evaluating our
- 2:31lives, and framing our actions. Once we start on the path, the
- 2:37main factor becomes how effectively and completely we
- 2:41can concentrate the focus, and how consistently and patiently
- 2:46we continue that focus without distraction.
- 2:50The mother notes quote at the basis of this collaboration.
- 2:55There is necessarily the will to change, no longer to be what one
- 2:59is, for things to be no longer what they are.
- 3:04There are several ways of reaching it, and all the methods
- 3:07are good when they succeed. One may be deeply disgusted with
- 3:12what exists and wish ardently to come out of all this and attain
- 3:16something else. One may, and this is a more
- 3:20positive way, one may feel within oneself the touch, the
- 3:25approach of something positively beautiful and true, and
- 3:28willingly drop all the rest so that nothing may burden the
- 3:32journey to this new beauty and truth.
- 3:37What is indispensable in every case is the ardent will for
- 3:41progress, the willing and joyful renunciation of all that hampers
- 3:46the advance, to throw far away from oneself all that prevents
- 3:51one from going forward, and to set out into the unknown with
- 3:55the ardent faith that this is the truth of tomorrow,
- 3:59inevitable, which must necessarily come.
- 4:03Which nothing, nobody, no bad will, even that of nature, can
- 4:09prevent from becoming a reality, perhaps of a not too distant
- 4:14future. A reality which is being worked
- 4:18out now, and which those who know how to change, how not to
- 4:22be weighed down by old habits, will surely have the good
- 4:26fortune not only to see, but to realize.
