  [SPEAKER_00]: ESPN's Mike Duraco was talking about how on 1010 XL yesterday, how it's assumed that Colvin landed toward his ACL at the end of the season and he did have surgery.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so what does that mean for his timeline?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to tell you this right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think regardless of whether or not

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do not have an offensive line problem, but they do have a need on the offensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think short-term and long-term.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I really strongly feel that way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the offensive line is in a lot of ways the foundation of a football team does not have a quality offensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Where do you go from there?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so you need good players and your starting spots.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you need good backups.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You need people who understand their scheme, know how to execute their scheme, how the physical ability to do so.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You need guys in there that are getting coached up the right way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, without the offensive line, being functional.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Your football team can't go anywhere.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If Cole Van Lannan does miss time, are they functional to start the season?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, can you function with Walker Little?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely in the run game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he was doing a good job in the run game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And past pro, little bit more shaky.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Although I will say this like before 2025, he was playing very well as both they pat, like just a good all around offensive tackle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: New coaching staff, new scheme, I don't know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It did not look the same though.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I can tell you that much, that's for sure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Especially against really good ad pressures, but there were some not so good ad pressures taking advantage of Walker little as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure against the Titans that, uh, gosh, former Jaguar, uh, Eddrescher.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Can't remember his name now, but.

  [SPEAKER_00]: not a star adressor, not even a starting adressor.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Got him on an inside spend, made him look absolutely silly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, and then of course, Daniel Hunter absolutely abused Walker little and several other players did throughout the, like, against the best defensive front, Walker little was not good enough.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, if he has to start and there's not improvement from him or competition to start, and again, this is for if Colvin Lannon is missing any portion of the beginning of the season

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not super comfortable depending on the schedule.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, the way little played against the Rams, C-Hawks, and Texans was not good enough.

  [SPEAKER_00]: First game against the Texans was all right.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So is there some explanation out there for why Walker Little wasn't playing as well?

  [SPEAKER_00]: During that time period, I'm not sure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: but it was pretty ugly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So even if you just say, okay, COVID-19 land and we'll be all right and if not we're gonna roll with Walker little, it'll be fine.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you run the ball more during that stretch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's one potential answer to that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But even with all of that, like, I think if you look a year ahead,

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of question marks with the offensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But we can start with where there's not question marks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Your current and future starting tackles are COVID and land and anton Harrison.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's anton at left tackle, COVID and land and at right tackle, because

  [SPEAKER_00]: One thing the Jaguars could do also is put Anton Harris in that left tackle, make him their starting left tackle, and then when Colvin Lening gets back, have him play right tackle, that's definitely something they can do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Colvin Lening showed the ability to play every different spot on the offensive line, so that's really not a big issue.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harris has more of like those typical,

  [SPEAKER_00]: left tackle traits, but then at the same token, if you're talking about Anton Harrison playing left tackle for you long term, guess what?

  [SPEAKER_00]: When that contract comes to do, it's going to be more expensive than he's playing right tackle.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's just the way it is in the NFL.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It will probably be a good bit more expensive.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If he is your left tackle, then if he's your right tackle, so is it worth it for you if you're Liam Cohen?

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone and company to have him be your left tackle from a monetary standpoint.

  [SPEAKER_00]: that's something you have to factor into it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But following 2026, Ezra Cleveland is set to be a free agent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar starting left guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have three more cut candidates on the roster and then Chuma Doge's contract is also up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you have two guys set to be free agents after 2026 and three guys that are potentially cap cuts.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Walker little is a certainly a

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars when they didn't sign him, it was the previous regime.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So for 2027, they have a $10.8 million team out.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They could save $10.8 million, almost $10.9, in cap space, by cutting Walker little.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay?

  [SPEAKER_00]: When you look at Patrick McCary, the Jaguars would save $13 million.

  [SPEAKER_00]: In cap space, by cutting Patrick McCary, following the 2026 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars would save $4 million by cutting Robert Hainesy, following the 2026 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So all of these, I wouldn't say all of these guys will leave the jacks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that's the case.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But is Robert Hainesy going to be your starting center in 2027 with Jonah Monheim trying to take that job?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I mean, we haven't seen a lot of Jonah Monheim, but when we did see him last year, he looked pretty darn good.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary, as a Cleveland, I mean, I think why my lens is coming for one of those jobs for sure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The issue for 2027 to me is not, do you have a pipeline in place right now for what happens in 2027?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Because you have Colvin, Lantern, Antson, Harrison, your two tackles.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have, uh, Jonah Monheim.

  [SPEAKER_00]: while I'm projected as future starters.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you can fairly say that they are projected as future starters.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's four out of the five guys right there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would be very happy if the Jaguar's keep as your Cleveland.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's turned in 28 this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's playing very good football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a consistent player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's going to be too expensive.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have cap flexibility moving forward, even though you got to sign some guys.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think guys are Cleveland would be a good guy to keep.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, that still leaves you probably without Walker Little, probably without Patrick McCarrie's making too much money.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You could keep Hainesy, but he's only a backup center.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you're not playing him somewhere else.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So they've got some things to figure out here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then again, I think Tuma Adoga, he could still be a Capcut this year potentially.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If they get the right guy in the draft, and that's another part of this equation is,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Even though you have these future questions, these future 2027 potential depth issues with potentially five of the current top eight top nine guys I should say moving on after 2026 you don't have a lot of room to add depth right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and feel comfortable with in my opinion at this point is if you find somebody in the draft you really like you can cut Chuma doga, save a little bit of cap space, upgrade, continue to build that pipeline, et cetera.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it could come down to in 2027 drafting another player and signing a free agent and retaining one of Ezra Cleveland, Patrick McCarrie, Robert Hainesy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Cleveland, they would have to sign to a new deal.

  [SPEAKER_00]: McCary, Hainesy, they would just be keeping those guys or restructuring their contracts, whatever it may be.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Walker Little is going to try to go start.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to try to go somewhere that he has an opportunity to start.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think, maybe he could be a starting guard in Jacksonville.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I do like the way he played at guards for them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: When he had to get in there, thought that was pretty solid.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So there are questions for the future, for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I say it's a need is the pipeline cannot stop.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You can never say you're good at offensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've got to keep building it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So in my mind, they've got to get at least one future starter or depped player in this draft on the offensive line at least one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: For 2027, you got to think about, are you retaining as a recleadland?

  [SPEAKER_00]: How are you making sure you have that depth and that pipeline continuing to push forward?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Do you sign a free agent?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Do you draft another player who you feel really comfortable about?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then you're talking about, well, you got to be hitting on these players for them to really continue building that pipeline.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, is it an immediate need?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's debatable, I think the Cold Van Land in question mark is the biggest piece to that biggest, you know, kind of moving piece to that, like if Cold Van Land is not ready for the start of the regular season, I'm not fired up about Walker Little's starting.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like if you have an injury during the season and you have to put your backup offensive tackle in there, Walker Little, that's one thing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: which I'm not saying the Jaguars do know this.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying if they know, if they know that Colvin and Lenin is probably not going to be ready for the start of the regular season, I am doing something to make more competition at that spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just, I wouldn't want to be wrote and I don't know how much of the schedule the Jaguars know already.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously we know they're opponents, but we don't know when they come.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you look at,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe if you're the Jaguars, and let's just hypothetically say, Cole VanLine and it's going to miss two games or four games at the start of the regular season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If you look at that schedule, and you say, well, we're not playing any super dynamic defensive fronts in that first four weeks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Problem is, the schedule doesn't come out until after the draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think that you can look at it from a draft perspective, but if the Jaguars do know some of that schedule, which would be helpful, that would be great, but there's gonna be really good pass rushes on the Jaguars schedule in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously you have,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Um, the, the Texans every single year, there's a good chance you have to face the Texans and the first four weeks, you have the Eagles who have really good wrestlers, the Steelers have really good wrestlers, the Browns have Miles freaking Garrett.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't have, like if you play Miles Garrett in the, and again, we don't know how long Cole Van Lannon will be out if Cole Van Lannon will be out.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know, but the Jaguars probably do have a good idea.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If the Browns are on the schedule and Colvin Lane in Can't Play, that's problematic.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they might continue to upgrade that edge group in the draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've got the Giants who have good edge rushers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're smart enough, and the way they talk about it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone and Liam Cohen, and obviously Tony Bassellian offensive lineman himself.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Gladstone and Cohen were both in LA when they had issues with depth on the offensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that they're going to continue to make sure they have depth, but I think one way they could definitely just upgrade it right now, I don't think you really want Shuma a Douga being a potential option you have to turn to, I really don't.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But Shuma Doga was a walking penalty last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I criticized Walker little for how he played against Houston and rightfully so.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars win that game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If Shuma Doga doesn't pick up a silly penalty because he overset, they probably win the game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You know, one thing I've always talked about, I do think the Jaguar is could elevate their ceiling on the offensive line, I would love to see that, but I would also like a little bit more of a floor than Chuma doga, and beyond 2026 there's a lot of questions with that roster.
