- 0:00Erin Gray: Welcome back to your Money, your Rules.
- 0:02Erin Gray: Today I want to talk about something that we rarely think about when it comes to abundance.
- 0:07Erin Gray: It's not your money, it's not time, it's not love, it's your thoughts.
- 0:11Erin Gray: Our thinking is one of the most powerful currencies, I believe, that we have and, just like money, you can spend it in ways that deplete you, that have you doubting yourself, or you can invest it in ways that expand you.
- 0:25Erin Gray: Okay, so let's talk about the energy of spending our thoughts.
- 0:29Erin Gray: Think about what happens when we spend our money unconsciously.
- 0:34Erin Gray: Maybe we impulse buy, or we might over consume, or we try to fix an internal lack feeling within ourselves by purchasing or doing something from an external place to try to fill that hole within us.
- 0:55Erin Gray: Now imagine your thoughts are being spent in the same way.
- 1:00Erin Gray: So think about if you are overthinking, ruminating on past mistakes and I don't like to use the word mistakes, but a lot of times we do use that word so, lessons learned if you've gotten to that place.
- 1:14Erin Gray: But, like, think about if you are overthinking decisions that you have made in the past.
- 1:19Erin Gray: Are you worrying about what could go wrong in the future?
- 1:24Erin Gray: Are you comparing yourself to others?
- 1:28Erin Gray: Are you mentally rehearsing how it's actually not going to work out, and I don't think a lot of us would say, yeah, I'm actually doing that, but that is what we are doing when we're worrying about it not working out.
- 1:40Erin Gray: So when we doubt and we worry that our businesses won't work, or our podcast or our book or our workshops or whatever it is that you are spending time thinking won't work instead of knowing it will, we are rehearsing it not working out, and I look at these as mental expenses that really yield no expansive or productive return.
- 2:11Erin Gray: They create emotional debt.
- 2:14Erin Gray: When you think about the thought, when you think that something's not going to work out, I want you to always then ask the next question how do I feel in my body?
- 2:25Erin Gray: So scarcity mindset isn't just about what's in your bank account or how you feel in your body.
- 2:31Erin Gray: It's also about how you are mentally rehearsing lack and how often you are doing this.
- 2:39Erin Gray: So what I think about investing and investing our thoughts is it's intentional, it's long-term, it compounds over time.
- 2:52Erin Gray: I don't think it's always.
- 2:54Erin Gray: I mean, I think it's sexy, but you know, in the beginning it may not feel sexy.
- 2:58Erin Gray: It doesn't give you this immediate.
- 3:00Erin Gray: You know, dopamine hit that our bodies are craving only because we haven't practiced it enough, but over time it will.
- 3:10Erin Gray: But the return, I want you to think about what you are doing.
- 3:14Erin Gray: When you start shifting the way that you think and you start investing your thinking instead of spending it, it feels expansive, it compounds over time.
- 3:24Erin Gray: How you feel in your body, how you move through the world, is vastly different when you invest in the market, putting in that certain amount of money every single month.
- 3:37Erin Gray: In the beginning it may not feel like that it's really doing much, but over time you can probably attest to this.
- 3:46Erin Gray: One day you wake up and you have a million dollars in your account and it's because you were disciplined enough to stay with it on a consistent basis.
- 4:03Erin Gray: So investing your thoughts are going to look like visualizing your next level self, with a deep sense of trust and feeling like what that feels like in your body and acting from that place, talking to yourself lovingly to reinforce your identity and being your biggest supporter, thinking through ideas and solutions from a place of possibility and fun.
- 4:21Erin Gray: Like, what would I love?
- 4:23Erin Gray: Like that's a question I ask myself all the time.
- 4:24Erin Gray: What would I love?
- 4:25Erin Gray: Reflecting on curi, you know, with curiosity instead of judgment, and intentionally talking to yourself and telling yourself how much love and appreciation that you have for yourself, how far you have come and for doing this work and for feeling joyful anticipation for where you're going.
- 4:44Erin Gray: I think so often the way that our brains are wired, we look at something and we don't think about how far we've come.
- 4:48Erin Gray: We think and we look and see how far we have to go, which, again, that doesn't feel very good in the body and I tell this to clients all the time.
- 4:57Erin Gray: There is no right or wrong here.
- 4:58Erin Gray: It's just what feels better in the body, what moves you to where you want to go.
- 5:03Erin Gray: You know, thinking highly of yourself, knowing that you're going to have what you want, trusting the decisions that you have made, that feels good in the body when you think about like your auric field or you know, my one of my mentors calls it like your creator field.
- 5:21Erin Gray: It's, it's all the same, but being that person that invests in their thoughts creates like you think about your auric field.
- 5:30Erin Gray: It can become more expansive or wider because of your frequency.
- 5:35Erin Gray: You're more magnetic.
- 5:36Erin Gray: It allows your authentic self to come out and that is powerful and that attracts more of what you're actually wanting.
- 5:44Erin Gray: So I'm going to talk about three shifts that can help you from spending your thoughts to investing them.
- 5:51Erin Gray: First, notice the withdrawal like ask, ask yourself is this thought creating peace and power and presence and love?
- 6:00Erin Gray: And if it's not, then take a breath and say something to the effect of like, I don't spend my thoughts this way anymore.
- 6:06Erin Gray: Like, I also use the, the sentence like.
- 6:11Erin Gray: Up until yesterday, I was a person who, or as of today, I do X, y, z, like, think about, if you were going to talk to your child or you were going to talk to your best friend, would some of the thoughts that you're thinking would they fly or would you be like, absolutely not.
- 6:28Erin Gray: That's how we want to treat ourselves.
- 6:29Erin Gray: So thinking thoughts like I am my biggest supporter.
- 6:33Erin Gray: I speak kindly and lovingly to myself.
- 6:36Erin Gray: Our thoughts, they create a physical sensation in our body.
- 6:40Erin Gray: So when we are used to speaking thoughts that create doubt and worry and fear, our body is going to go through withdrawals because it is used to feeling those vibrations.
- 6:52Erin Gray: So nothing has gone wrong here.
- 6:55Erin Gray: We're just training our body to become addicted to a higher vibration emotion like love, joy and abundance, like what I have noticed in my body when I start to, let's say, if I, if I'm expanding more feeling of ease and joy it's not as as intense as it used to be, but those thoughts around money would come back in to kind of keep me back in line.
- 7:20Erin Gray: So you have to notice what's happening, which means slowing down.
- 7:25Erin Gray: You have to pay attention.
- 7:27Erin Gray: What are the thoughts or the beliefs that you're having right now?
- 7:30Erin Gray: That's creating this sensation in your body and then powerfully choosing what is a thought or a belief that you're going to have to feel differently.
- 7:38Erin Gray: Okay, so choosing intentional investments.
- 7:43Erin Gray: So this is you know I talk about this on previous podcasts Like I don't think we have to work hard for many.
- 7:50Erin Gray: I don't believe that anymore.
- 7:51Erin Gray: What I do think that we have to be very attentive with is our mind, and so this is a constant redirection.
- 7:57Erin Gray: In the beginning, you know, I, for me personally, I was constantly redirecting because my habit was to focus on what isn't working, what could go wrong.
- 8:07Erin Gray: Like worry was a natural.
- 8:10Erin Gray: I would say it was a natural state for me.
- 8:11Erin Gray: I thought that it was productive, I thought that I was planning for all of the contingencies, but what I was really doing it was just planning for what was going to happen.
- 8:19Erin Gray: So think of it like weightlifting you get better the more that you do it and avoid language.
- 8:26Erin Gray: I always like to pay attention to clients language and I have them pay attention as well.
- 8:30Erin Gray: And you know, when you say things like it's hard or I struggle with, use more neutral language, like just use the words or the language.
- 8:42Erin Gray: Like we're just more practice at speaking disempowered thoughts than we are at empowered thoughts, so it's not hard to change.
- 8:50Erin Gray: You're not struggling with this.
- 8:52Erin Gray: Like so often I hear people say, well, I'm really struggling with this, like scratch that from your vocabulary.
- 8:57Erin Gray: I'm practicing, working on or I'm in the process of changing X, y, z, like really start to pay attention to your language and change what you are saying about yourself.
- 9:10Erin Gray: And then the third thing I would do is create a daily thought practice.
- 9:13Erin Gray: So what are the thoughts that you want to be on autopilot?
- 9:17Erin Gray: I'll give you some of mine.
- 9:19Erin Gray: Everything that I do works Like I am the magic.
- 9:23Erin Gray: I am a gift to my clients and to humanity.
- 9:27Erin Gray: I trust myself and my intuition.
- 9:30Erin Gray: It is my best business tool that I have.
- 9:33Erin Gray: I love myself unconditionally, and so it's not just about saying those things to you, it's to yourself.
- 9:41Erin Gray: It's actually about saying them and then taking action.
- 9:44Erin Gray: So when I was working on, I trust myself and my intuition.
- 9:47Erin Gray: It's my best business tool.
- 9:48Erin Gray: What did I do to implement it?
- 9:50Erin Gray: I started listening to my intuition and I trusted it.
- 9:53Erin Gray: And so when someone would tell me or an advisor would tell me something and I would say, no, I'm getting a no for that, you know they would come back and they would say, well, what about this?
- 10:03Erin Gray: And I would check in with my intuition again and I would ask myself so it's like you have to, not just the affirmations, but it's also the anchoring in in your body.
- 10:13Erin Gray: And you do that by taking action.
- 10:15Erin Gray: This is what I think mental investing looked like it compounds beautifully over time.
- 10:21Erin Gray: You know your thoughts are very creative, they are magnetic.
- 10:26Erin Gray: They literally create a vibration and have a ripple effect.
- 10:30Erin Gray: So start asking am I spending this thought out of fear or am I investing it in my future?
- 10:36Erin Gray: You know you are worthy of having an amazing, vibrant, incredible life, and it starts with our thinking.
- 10:43Erin Gray: So until next time, I encourage you to invest your thoughts wisely and I'll see you in the next episode.
