- 1:18Speaker 3: Now. As far as the body, we know.
- 1:20Speaker 2: What it takes to get ready here for the draft,
- 1:22Speaker 2: But as far as the mind, what did you go
- 1:25Speaker 2: through to prepare yourself over these last couple of years
- 1:27Speaker 2: to reach the stage?
- 1:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just being sent down and not always
- 1:33Speaker 4: getting what you want definitely definitely put your mind in
- 1:35Speaker 4: a different in aspiral. So, I mean, I couldn't be
- 1:38Speaker 4: more blessed to have taken on those those challenges and
- 1:41Speaker 4: it only taught.
- 1:42Speaker 6: Me for the better down the road.
- 1:43Speaker 4: And I couldn't have done it without my support system
- 1:45Speaker 4: at home and all my family that was here support
- 1:47Speaker 4: of me tonight.
- 1:48Speaker 7: Hey, Chasis evert fits you from one Detroit or to another.
- 1:52Speaker 7: I'm from Detroit, you're from Chesterfield, about a half an
- 1:55Speaker 7: hour north. Welcome to Seattle. Congratulations on being drafted. Talked
- 2:00Speaker 7: about your support system, tell us about yourself, mom, dad,
- 2:03Speaker 7: and these siblings. What does uh what does non hockey
- 2:07Speaker 7: uh Chase Reed look like?
- 2:11Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 2:11Speaker 4: Thank you so much again, we're We're a big golf
- 2:14Speaker 4: and family. So me and my dad and my brother
- 2:16Speaker 4: all loved the golf. My mom's not a big fan
- 2:18Speaker 4: of the golf, so we try and tone it.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Back at home a couple couple of times.
- 2:21Speaker 4: But yeah, we love golf. And then yeah, my dad
- 2:24Speaker 4: is uh, he's a salesman. And then my mom's an
- 2:26Speaker 4: insurance agent, a competitive dance teacher. And then I have
- 2:29Speaker 4: a younger brother named Blake who plays for Victory Hondad
- 2:32Speaker 4: back home. So yeah, we got We're always pretty busy,
- 2:34Speaker 4: but we always find time to golf, for sure.
- 2:37Speaker 8: Chase al Kiniski here, I apologize for my partner's comments
- 2:40Speaker 8: about Michigan and Detroit.
- 2:42Speaker 3: You can up.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Get used to it. He brings it up a lot.
- 2:49Speaker 8: Listen, we see all the stats o there about about
- 2:52Speaker 8: your game? Tell the people listen a little bit about
- 2:55Speaker 8: what you're not gonna see on paper?
- 2:57Speaker 5: What? What? What? What are the things about your game
- 2:59Speaker 5: that you wouldn't see in the stats?
- 3:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just as a person, I feel like
- 3:04Speaker 4: I bring a fun aspect to everywhere I go. I
- 3:07Speaker 4: like to bring the energy and just have fun wherever
- 3:09Speaker 4: I'm at. So that's a good that's that's something. And
- 3:11Speaker 4: then obviously you're gonna get a guy who who loves
- 3:14Speaker 4: to score goals and loves to set up.
- 3:15Speaker 6: His teammates, but loves keeping the puck out of the
- 3:17Speaker 6: back of all.
- 3:18Speaker 3: We love goals.
- 3:19Speaker 5: I saw one picture with your tongue out. Is that
- 3:21Speaker 5: something we're gonna see a lot of.
- 3:25Speaker 6: Yeah, that's kind of my thing. You know you'll be
- 3:27Speaker 6: seeing a lot of it.
- 3:29Speaker 5: We love it. Well.
- 3:30Speaker 9: First of all, Alan and I are smiling, so is
- 3:32Speaker 9: Mikey here. This is again for NASA. I'm with the
- 3:34Speaker 9: TV side of things. The radio guy is nice enough
- 3:36Speaker 9: to let me hang in today with them and Mike Betting,
- 3:38Speaker 9: our radio guy. He'll buy you a couple of rounds
- 3:40Speaker 9: of golf when you get out here, so I take
- 3:42Speaker 9: care of you like Quol Harvey Penick.
- 3:43Speaker 3: If you play golf, you're my fot. Yeah, exactly.
- 3:46Speaker 9: Hey, Chase, just we're gonna be Yeah, we'll see Jason
- 3:51Speaker 9: Bottrell's gonna join us here at six point thirty. We'll
- 3:53Speaker 9: ask him if we can do that or not. But listen, uh, Chase,
- 3:56Speaker 9: you're gonna go next year. It looks like to Michigan
- 3:58Speaker 9: State you played the same you played for the World
- 4:01Speaker 9: Juniors last season, so I've played some high level hockey.
- 4:04Speaker 9: What goes into decision to go playing big in the
- 4:06Speaker 9: Big ten and play college hockey? And what do you
- 4:08Speaker 9: hope to get done over the next twelve months when
- 4:10Speaker 9: you're at at East Lancing.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Yeah, it's always been in the blood to go Green
- 4:16Speaker 4: and white. So it's a huge hore that they took
- 4:19Speaker 4: a chance on a kid, especially at sixteen, playing in
- 4:21Speaker 4: the North American League, to have the chance to go
- 4:24Speaker 4: up there and play at East Lancing. I mean, I've
- 4:26Speaker 4: heard nothing but good things and I can't wait to
- 4:27Speaker 4: get started and then eventually come to you guys with
- 4:30Speaker 4: the help of them.
- 4:31Speaker 3: So seventh overall pick Chase Reed.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Joining us live right now on the Beacon Plumbing hotline
- 4:36Speaker 2: is again Mike, E and Everett out right back at
- 4:38Speaker 2: thirty two Bar and Grill here for draft coverage, which continues.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Chase.
- 4:41Speaker 2: We hear a lot about the skill on your side,
- 4:43Speaker 2: the compete, the shot, it's all a big part of
- 4:47Speaker 2: the package. And you know, we always love the comparables
- 4:50Speaker 2: here in this game. And you know some folks have
- 4:51Speaker 2: thrown around the Seth Jones angle, the John Carlson angle.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But tell us.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Walk us back through who you watch, who you admire
- 4:59Speaker 2: growing up, and who do you like to pattern your
- 5:01Speaker 2: game after.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Yeah, growing up, it was definitely Eric Carlson.
- 5:05Speaker 4: I loved his flow, he had going and we always
- 5:08Speaker 4: uh he just as a fun player to watch. Now
- 5:10Speaker 4: it's it's Zach Warrensky. I think we have a lot
- 5:13Speaker 4: in common. We're both really good skaters, both able to
- 5:15Speaker 4: run a power play, both can take control of a game,
- 5:17Speaker 4: and both are.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Very good skaters.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Like I said, so, yeah, yeah, I think those are
- 5:21Speaker 4: those are the two guys.
- 5:22Speaker 7: If there's one area about your game that you're excited
- 5:25Speaker 7: to work on going uh to Michigan State.
- 5:28Speaker 5: What would that area be?
- 5:30Speaker 7: Where do you feel I don't want to say you
- 5:32Speaker 7: need the most improvement, but what is one area that
- 5:35Speaker 7: you want to focus on and work on moving forward?
- 5:39Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 5:39Speaker 4: I mean everything always needs work, you guys know that,
- 5:41Speaker 4: I'm sure. But still the defensive side of my game
- 5:44Speaker 4: still some still some things to clean up back there.
- 5:46Speaker 4: And then yeah, obviously still cleaning up the offensive side
- 5:49Speaker 4: and not throwing pucks away.
- 5:50Speaker 6: And stuff like that. But yeah, I.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Mean just just fixing everything and fine tune and everything,
- 5:54Speaker 4: So I'm ready to come be a crack and.
- 5:56Speaker 8: Tell us a little bit about your academics. Obviously you're
- 5:58Speaker 8: heading off to Michigan. Oh you're such a dad. Let's go.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I love it. I want to know what are
- 6:08Speaker 5: you gonna focus on while you're there at school?
- 6:13Speaker 4: I don't know sum online paddle boarding right now, so
- 6:16Speaker 4: that's all I thought right now.
- 6:18Speaker 6: And then I got the video games.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Starting in July.
- 6:20Speaker 6: So video games is the next one up.
- 6:23Speaker 4: So we'll see how hard these classes are, Chase.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Michigan State is ready for you.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I know that Seattle is ready for you here, and uh,
- 6:31Speaker 2: certainly we can't wait to see you once again as
- 6:33Speaker 2: a seventh. Overall, you're off the board, You're coming here
- 6:35Speaker 2: to Seattle, and all of a sudden, this town can't
- 6:37Speaker 2: wait to see you here for this next week.
- 6:38Speaker 9: Yeah, Chase, I just want to fall up a little
- 6:40Speaker 9: bit with al outside of video games and paddle boarding
- 6:42Speaker 9: for a second. We go back to Michigan State. Are
- 6:44Speaker 9: you listen? Every player is different at this age, at seventeen,
- 6:48Speaker 9: eighteen sixteen doesn't matter, and like bodies change, do you
- 6:51Speaker 9: feel like you need to put weight on? Do you
- 6:53Speaker 9: feel like you have strength and what can you get
- 6:55Speaker 9: accomplished as far as college is concerned, because the college
- 6:57Speaker 9: weight rooms a whole different beast than SUS Saint or
- 7:00Speaker 9: HL team. So is that a big goal is said, Hey,
- 7:03Speaker 9: I'm gonna get in that weight room, I'm gonna get
- 7:04Speaker 9: in the training table. Is that something you feel like
- 7:06Speaker 9: you need to do to take that next step?
- 7:09Speaker 6: Of course?
- 7:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I think definitely, Like you said, putting on weight
- 7:12Speaker 4: and getting in the weight room will definitely help. But
- 7:14Speaker 4: I think just fine tuning everything on the ice as well,
- 7:16Speaker 4: I don't I don't know. I just think that going
- 7:19Speaker 4: out there on the ice every day is a lot
- 7:21Speaker 4: different than pumping pumping.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Your legs on a bike. So just I love being
- 7:25Speaker 6: on the tonight.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I mean yeah, obviously, like you said, getting bigger and
- 7:28Speaker 4: stronger and the weight room will definitely help with everything.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Well, Chase, you come into an area with plenty of
- 7:33Speaker 2: golf around this area once again here, but I mean driver,
- 7:36Speaker 2: Irons flastic.
- 7:37Speaker 3: What's the big part of your game? Finally here?
- 7:40Speaker 4: Definitely not on my wedges in putting, but I got
- 7:43Speaker 4: a pretty good iron game. We stick to the Irons.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Ball striker right here.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Well, as far as this conversation is concerned to consider
- 7:51Speaker 2: this a three hundred and thirty yard dry piped right
- 7:54Speaker 2: down the middle. We can't wait to see you back
- 7:55Speaker 2: out here in Seattle, and congratulations once again on a
- 7:58Speaker 2: night that you will never ever forget you Shea's thinking
- 8:00Speaker 2: very much once again.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
