- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Bienvenidos a la llamada de atención headenata con Ren Isabel.
- 0:18SPEAKER_04: Hey, I'm excited.
- 0:19SPEAKER_04: Uh a couple of different reasons.
- 0:21SPEAKER_04: Um Dolly Martin Martin has been on the news here a few weeks ago about uh Hawaii politely declining um to the rocking ball hall.
- 0:35SPEAKER_04: Mixed emotions about that, so I think we ought to at least do a tribute uh to Dolly.
- 0:42SPEAKER_04: And then I found out that uh we and our guest today, Megan.
- 0:46SPEAKER_04: You know what?
- 0:47SPEAKER_04: Is it Cullop?
- 0:48SPEAKER_04: Oh, it is very good.
- 0:50SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 0:50SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: That's a first that's a bravo for sure.
- 0:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, it's a person usually I screw the names up.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: Usually I make you pronounce your own last name that way it keeps it.
- 1:03SPEAKER_12: Well, that's impressive.
- 1:04SPEAKER_12: Usually people pronounce it Kulip.
- 1:06SPEAKER_12: Cullop.
- 1:06SPEAKER_12: It's Cullop, though.
- 1:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_04: Anyway, from K SJE.
- 1:11SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: Uh and and you I think you have a show on Saturday.
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: Uh well, you have all kinds of shows, I know, but you do um some kind of music program on Saturday.
- 1:21SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 1:21SPEAKER_04: And what is that?
- 1:22SPEAKER_12: Radio Free Saturday Mornings, which is um a music show, but what makes it distinct is that in between sets we go real deep into the musicians that made the music, the time and setting of when the music was recorded, interpretations of what the music is.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: What drugs they were taken.
- 1:41SPEAKER_12: That's all there's a lot of that depending on the decade.
- 1:43SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:44SPEAKER_12: Yep.
- 1:45SPEAKER_12: All pertinent information.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Well, um, I I I'm glad you decided to come to subject yourself to this.
- 1:53SPEAKER_11: Couldn't turn it down.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: And I'm glad that you're a Dolly fan.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: Uh we're very Rin and I both are very, very proud to be on the part of that programming up there.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Um I I don't know.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: I I just it kind of it's made our millennium for sure.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: Truly to have you as a guest.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: We've had Scott on.
- 2:11SPEAKER_04: So I figured you had to be second, because I've heard some of you in Scott's banter.
- 2:14SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 2:15SPEAKER_12: We have quality banter, I think.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: So that's K-S-J-E.com, right?
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: If you want to get it to the internet.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Here locally it's 90.9, or out of Durango, it's 1033.
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: So um I I'm extremely excited to do Dolly Parton, and I'm extremely excited to have you on the show.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: So what what is your experience?
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: You were saying something off mic that I I didn't want to miss.
- 2:39SPEAKER_04: Your experience with Dolly Parton.
- 2:40SPEAKER_12: My experience is there are two songs of hers that I find deeply satisfying.
- 2:46SPEAKER_12: One is almost like a spiritual song.
- 2:48SPEAKER_12: So um Clear The Light of the Clear Blue Morning is the name of one of her songs.
- 2:53SPEAKER_12: And it is we'll have to see if that's available to us.
- 2:56SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you have to pull it up because it is really quite something, and it's a it's a hopeful song.
- 3:02SPEAKER_12: Um, and she does uh a great job as usual.
- 3:05SPEAKER_12: And the other one is early on in her career, Dolly produced a lot of darker sounds.
- 3:10SPEAKER_12: So she I did not know that.
- 3:11SPEAKER_12: Yes, she produced a lot of sad songs in her early career, and one of them's called Down from Dover, and it's about a single mother who's the father of the child has you know fled.
- 3:23SPEAKER_12: Upsconded.
- 3:23SPEAKER_12: Yes, abscond it, and so she's left as a young woman with this uh pregnancy and this baby.
- 3:29SPEAKER_12: So it's yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: A staple in the country western genre, I'd say, like those tragic tales, yes.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: But of human spirit, yes.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 3:39SPEAKER_04: All right, well, listen, so I'm glad, Rin.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: Why do you like Dolly?
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: You don't know much about I found one that you don't know much about.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: Well, she's iconic.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: That's why I could say I like her.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: Um everybody knows the look of Dolly Parton, her big blonde hair and her big expecting to go to a different area.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: The first thing I think of is the hair, and then I think of the cute busts, and then the cute outfits, and then, you know, I think most people don't look past that, but my dad always had great respect for her as a songwriter.
- 4:11SPEAKER_04: She's got huge hair?
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: You never got past the boobs.
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: If you would look up once in a while, that's why you keep tripping over yourself.
- 4:21SPEAKER_12: And then most recently, right, the vaccines.
- 4:23SPEAKER_12: I mean, that was huge.
- 4:24SPEAKER_12: Her contribution to was it Pfizer or Moderna?
- 4:27SPEAKER_12: One of the two.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 4:28SPEAKER_12: I think it was Moderna.
- 4:30SPEAKER_12: And um, yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_12: I mean, at the vaccine clinics that I was volunteering at, they had these life-size cutouts of Dolly Parton like waving you into the end of the line.
- 4:39SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: I would have wanted one of those if we had to pay somebody off.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: So I think it's a rightful tribute.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: I think we're doing okay.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: She's a nice lady.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: She tries to help out her community by you know starting Dolly, what is it, Dollywood?
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: Dollywood.
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: Dolly Wood.
- 4:53SPEAKER_12: The children's books that she does that program.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, we're using all the best stuff up.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: We got a whole hour to go.
- 4:59SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 4:59SPEAKER_12: We'll go, we'll go back.
- 5:00SPEAKER_12: We'll circle back.
- 5:01SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 5:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, if you guys have heard of, I don't know if you've heard of Trixie Mattel, a beloved drag queen.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: Um, she dresses like Dolly.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: She models herself quite a bit after Dolly Farn, and she's one of my all-time favorites.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: What's her name?
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: Trixie.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: Trixie Mattel.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: I would have to look Trixie up.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: Sounds like a toy.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: She's a cute.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: She's got a YouTube channel.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: Check her out.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: I will.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: But mostly Dolly.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: Yes, mostly Dolly.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: I didn't want to derail it.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: All right, so let's.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: What do you got one ready to go?
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: I do.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, you know, lay it on me.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Probably the most famous, the one that uh, you know, lots of kids have heard from the movie.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Nine to five.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: Nine to five.
- 5:49SPEAKER_08: Jumble out a bed and I stumble to the kitchen.
- 5:51SPEAKER_08: Pour myself a cup of ambition, ywn and stretch and try to come to life.
- 5:58SPEAKER_08: Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumping.
- 6:01SPEAKER_08: Out on the streets, the traffic starts jumping.
- 6:03SPEAKER_08: Folks like me on the job from nine to five.
- 6:07SPEAKER_08: Working too fine.
- 6:10SPEAKER_08: What a way to make living by.
- 6:14SPEAKER_08: So take an old giving.
- 6:28SPEAKER_08: What's the second motion?
- 6:32SPEAKER_08: What is the best proportion once you move ahead?
- 6:37SPEAKER_08: But the boss wants me to let me sweat me.
- 6:51SPEAKER_08: Just to step on the boss man's letter, but you got dreams he'll never take away.
- 7:07SPEAKER_08: Working up to battery.
- 7:10SPEAKER_08: What a wet beam, take the battery.
- 7:19SPEAKER_08: And you gotta get credit to love.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: Alright, Megan, so anybody that comes on the show, all right, we have to know a little bit about you.
- 8:11SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 8:12SPEAKER_04: So are you okay with that?
- 8:14SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 8:16SPEAKER_12: Because I get to choose, right?
- 8:16SPEAKER_12: You're not going to be able to do that.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, you can tell me to go butt a stump if you want to, yeah.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: But where were you born?
- 8:21SPEAKER_12: I was born in San Antonio, Texas.
- 8:23SPEAKER_12: Oh, no kidding.
- 8:24SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: I love San Antonio.
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: The river city, I guess.
- 8:27SPEAKER_04: I you know.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 8:32SPEAKER_04: Uh I went there for the river, the the river walk.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: The river walk, yeah.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: When when was that?
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: Oh my god, back in the 90s.
- 8:39SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 8:39SPEAKER_12: They've expanded it quite a bit.
- 8:41SPEAKER_12: Every time I go back, it's like, whoa, this city's just growing.
- 8:44SPEAKER_12: It's the seventh largest city in the United States now.
- 8:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, I did not know that.
- 8:47SPEAKER_04: Yes, it's big.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: Very big.
- 8:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that is big.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, how far is the Gulf from there?
- 8:52SPEAKER_04: It's a little ways.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Four hours.
- 8:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: It's still not very far, though.
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: And then uh the fact of the uh the nice river walk that they have, I I I don't know, that was beautiful.
- 9:02SPEAKER_04: And the Alamo, I understand that's a lot of history at one time.
- 9:06SPEAKER_04: Um and we toured the Alamo what we could.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: I don't think you could go inside.
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: I think you just stand around out front if I remember right.
- 9:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I think that's true.
- 9:16SPEAKER_04: And and and and and and make signs and wave.
- 9:20SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:21SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: David Bowie died here.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 9:24SPEAKER_12: Was it not to be confused with David Bowie?
- 9:27SPEAKER_12: Bowie, yeah.
- 9:28SPEAKER_12: David Bowie.
- 9:28SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's why.
- 9:29SPEAKER_12: Thank you.
- 9:31SPEAKER_12: Bowie's still alive.
- 9:32SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 9:33SPEAKER_11: Um, he's not.
- 9:34SPEAKER_11: Bowie's not still alive.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: He did not die at the Alamo.
- 9:38SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: He did not die at the Alamo.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: No, he uh That's why I was confused.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, another drug overdose.
- 9:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I thought he was an overdose, yeah.
- 9:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah.
- 9:46SPEAKER_12: David Bowie?
- 9:47SPEAKER_12: Miss Hughes.
- 9:48SPEAKER_12: He oh, he had cancer.
- 9:49SPEAKER_12: Oh, did he?
- 9:50SPEAKER_12: Oh my gosh, we're all over the place.
- 9:51SPEAKER_12: Yeah, he's a good one.
- 9:52SPEAKER_12: Okay, so he's dead, not of a drug overdose, but of cancer.
- 9:55SPEAKER_12: He had cancer.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Didn't tell anyone, made an entire album, died, and then they released that album.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: Anyway, just so we're all clear about David Bowie.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: As I was picking out Dolly Parton music, sorry.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: Big Bowie fan.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: I was not ready for people to misunderstand what happened.
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm glad you did because I thought I thought it was a drug overdose.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: No.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: So even though we're talking about Dolly, we're talking about living today, but we need to do a tribute to David.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: I love David Barton.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: So you're from San Antonio.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 10:23SPEAKER_04: Uh what brought you to Farmington, New Mexico from San Antonio?
- 10:28SPEAKER_12: Well, so there were some states in between, too.
- 10:30SPEAKER_12: So I went to graduate school in New Jersey and I worked there, and then I went to Connecticut and I worked there.
- 10:35SPEAKER_12: And then from Connecticut, I came to Farmington, which is like a total of Texas to New Jersey?
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: New Jersey.
- 10:44SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 10:45SPEAKER_12: It was the school.
- 10:46SPEAKER_12: I wanted to go to the school.
- 10:48SPEAKER_04: So did you eat lots of good seafood while you're there?
- 10:50SPEAKER_12: Seafood, Italian food, you can't beat it.
- 10:53SPEAKER_12: Chinese food.
- 10:54SPEAKER_12: I mean, right?
- 10:54SPEAKER_12: You have all the nationalities coalescing in that area.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but the Italian food is probably made by the mob.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: So it was probably really good.
- 11:01SPEAKER_12: That one was the best.
- 11:03SPEAKER_12: That's the best.
- 11:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 11:04SPEAKER_12: You don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but the food is good.
- 11:08SPEAKER_12: Don't dare besmirch big too much.
- 11:10SPEAKER_04: Yes, exactly.
- 11:11SPEAKER_04: So did they have mobster sauce on the menu?
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: Did you live in like a pretty area of New Jersey?
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: Because I know people hear New Jersey crap, but it stinks.
- 11:20SPEAKER_12: I did.
- 11:20SPEAKER_12: I mean, because the the part that is is post-industrial wasteland looking is the southern part.
- 11:27SPEAKER_12: Um but when you get to central New Jersey, which is where I was, and then northern New Jersey, it's a lot of like pastures, like farmland.
- 11:35SPEAKER_12: Beautiful.
- 11:36SPEAKER_12: To get the Jersey cow, right?
- 11:37SPEAKER_12: That idea.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: Because I lived right next to New Jersey for a little bit when I lived in New York, and every time I drove through there, I always thought it was real pretty.
- 11:45SPEAKER_03: Maybe I never went to the southern part, but yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: Maybe I just someplace where the all the manufacturing's done is what makes is where the smell's coming from.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: So where was that manufacturing?
- 11:54SPEAKER_12: So that's kind of in central.
- 11:55SPEAKER_12: So you have Newark, which is where you fly into, and I think that's why everybody's like, ew, New Jersey, because what you see is Newark.
- 12:02SPEAKER_12: And then Trenton makes a lot of stuff.
- 12:04SPEAKER_12: And they have on their bridge that says Trenton makes the world takes, because they were such a huge manufacturing city.
- 12:11SPEAKER_12: And that's the um capital.
- 12:14SPEAKER_12: Nice.
- 12:14SPEAKER_12: Trenton is.
- 12:15SPEAKER_12: Trenton is.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: So so from there you went to Connecticut.
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: Connecticut.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: Not much of a change, right, as far as scenery-wise?
- 12:24SPEAKER_12: Similar, but New England lifestyle, very different than New Jersey lifestyle.
- 12:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 12:30SPEAKER_12: Some of the accents are.
- 12:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, different.
- 12:34SPEAKER_12: Yeah, different speaking styles, different fashion for sure.
- 12:37SPEAKER_12: I mean, you're talking about like Thomas Kincaid type New England.
- 12:40SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
- 12:41SPEAKER_12: That kind of thing.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Just like so cheesy and romantic and classic.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Iconic.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: I first thought Thomas Kincaid.
- 12:51SPEAKER_12: Connecticut in the winter is totally iconic.
- 12:53SPEAKER_12: It's miserable to live through, but it looks pretty.
- 12:55SPEAKER_03: You have those moments of clarity.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: You're like, oh, this is pretty at least.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: While I push my car through the snow.
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: Pretty much.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: That's exactly right.
- 13:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: So from Connecticut, we went to where?
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: To here.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: To here.
- 13:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: Alright, so what Why Farmington?
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, my the ultimate question is why in the Farmington Minister.
- 13:17SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 13:17SPEAKER_12: So in my former life, I was a minister, and the Presbyterian Church in Farmington was looking for a minister.
- 13:23SPEAKER_12: And I was ready to get out of the Northeast because it was it's cold, it's got uh it's crowded, its cost of living is through the roof, and so there's some lifestyle things that I I wanted to experience more sunlight, I wanted to experience more space and and better cost of living.
- 13:39SPEAKER_12: And I had never green chili and red chili.
- 13:41SPEAKER_12: Green chili and red chili, yeah.
- 13:43SPEAKER_12: The culture.
- 13:44SPEAKER_12: The culture, I mean, it is totally different.
- 13:46SPEAKER_12: And I had never experienced a place this small before, so that was new.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: This small.
- 13:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's like funny to hear people talk about farming.
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's big, small, it's hard to describe it.
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: Do you know that in any given weekend in Farmington, there could be over a hundred thousand people in town?
- 14:01SPEAKER_12: Isn't that that's why I don't go shopping on the weekends?
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, no, me neither.
- 14:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 14:05SPEAKER_04: But we do have, we pull, you know, we have a whole reservation, two reservations, three reservations that are not that far from us.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're the biggest city in the Four Corners area, if I'm not mistaken.
- 14:14SPEAKER_04: I think that's absolutely correct.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: So we get a lot of people coming through, visiting, and then at the end of the day, they're they're out of here.
- 14:23SPEAKER_03: So that's why it's like big.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: We have businesses, we have the people coming in to support it, but we don't have the community to always foster like these big local projects.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: No.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: But we do have a nice city government that is trying to help.
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're trying to try and get there.
- 15:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, the Main Street project, uh, which is finally done, has been a tremendous asset to the community.
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: Gorgeous.
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: And I know they're working on more and more lots of great parks that we have.
- 15:30SPEAKER_04: I I like the fact that uh doing some uh trail parks, like where you can take your bicycle and drive through ever and everything.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: Safe ones.
- 15:39SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: Oh, truly.
- 15:41SPEAKER_04: All right, so how did why did you get into radio?
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: I understand, and I think that's what I kind of previously.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: I I think I knew this about to be in a minister.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: I don't know where I heard it, um but for some reason it sticks in my mind.
- 15:57SPEAKER_04: Um but how did why why did you get into radio?
- 16:00SPEAKER_04: Why did you decide to do radio?
- 16:01SPEAKER_12: Yeah, radio is awesome.
- 16:02SPEAKER_12: So I actually got into radio.
- 16:03SPEAKER_12: Wait, hold on.
- 16:04SPEAKER_12: That's gonna be a soundbite.
- 16:05SPEAKER_12: Say that again.
- 16:06SPEAKER_12: Radio is awesome.
- 16:07SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 16:09SPEAKER_12: Say it again.
- 16:11SPEAKER_12: So, yeah, so I got into it in grad school actually, and I really just I love music.
- 16:16SPEAKER_12: I love talking on the fly, like extemporaneously, and just I mean, I'm a chatter and a musician myself, and it was just kind of this perfect thing.
- 16:26SPEAKER_12: And uh where I was at, they had a community radio station that's actually it was the oldest community radio station in the nation.
- 16:32SPEAKER_10: Wow.
- 16:33SPEAKER_12: Yes, wow, yes.
- 16:35SPEAKER_12: So um the radio airwaves conductor thing was created at that school in like 18, like late 1800s.
- 16:46SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: Around the time Marconi was around.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: All right, well listen, um, we need to play another song.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: And then we're gonna come back.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: We're gonna talk a little bit more about what you do at uh uh because I'm kind of fascinated with the showing or the your programming too and what uh what all's going on at KSJE.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: If you're if you're if if you're if you're uh have the authority to uh I think so.
- 17:07SPEAKER_12: I think Scott would be cool with it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: Cool.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: All right, well, what do you got up for us next, Ren?
- 17:12SPEAKER_04: You're giving me that look like you weren't ready.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: No, I am.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: I do it look like I'm not ready.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: No, I'm still.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: I was gonna play one of Megan's one of Megan's picks, Light of a Clear Blue Morning, because I've never heard it.
- 17:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, sounds good to me.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: I don't think I have either.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: We're getting to know ourselves.
- 18:18SPEAKER_08: You know, I see inside everything's gonna work out just fine, and everything's gonna be alright, it's been all wrong.
- 18:49SPEAKER_08: I can see the light of a red blue day.
- 18:56SPEAKER_08: I can see the light of a two blue morning.
- 19:03SPEAKER_08: Or in a rain's gonna be okay.
- 19:08SPEAKER_08: It's gonna be all true.
- 19:16SPEAKER_08: It's been a long, long time since I known the change to freedom Happy Band I feel like a catchy You know Amigo's born I want to be gonna do.
- 20:37SPEAKER_06: I can't say the light of the blue ball.
- 22:14SPEAKER_12: A robust education.
- 22:16SPEAKER_04: You know, uh honestly, I I I you were talking about because we did a lady, not a lady gaga.
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: What were we talking about?
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: We were talking about uh Well, we were talking about the uh war songs.
- 22:26SPEAKER_12: I was gonna say night war.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: And and yeah, I don't I I I will rem I don't remember, but I will I will figure out who it was that uh Sang with Meatloaf.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: Sang with meatloaf.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: Because you were saying originally before we got To 10 different topics.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Dolly Parton did the backup vocals for Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: Not Dolly Part.
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: Nightcourt Girl.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, Nightcourt Girl.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: Sorry.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: See, this is how confused I am.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: Let's forget about it.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: The issue is, you know, we got you over there pulling music and doing all this other stuff, and then you only, because I know how hard you concentrate, so you only pick up bits and pieces of the conversation.
- 23:03SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: What was I gonna talk about?
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: K SJ E.
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: Uh huh.
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: And you and uh that's not the only thing.
- 23:10SPEAKER_04: You and Scott have some kind of program you do together.
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: What is it?
- 23:12SPEAKER_12: We have two.
- 23:13SPEAKER_12: So Scott and I first started bantering together when COVID-19 happened, and I sent Scott a message and said, we need to do something about like during this time.
- 23:23SPEAKER_12: We need to figure out a way to I don't know, support the community or whatever, entertain the community, it doesn't matter.
- 23:29SPEAKER_12: And so we came up with the COVID-19 program, and we did that for a throughout the duration of the whole mess that we were in.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: Um I heard a couple of them.
- 23:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, local information program.
- 23:41SPEAKER_12: So then once COVID's sort of slowed down, we um wanted to do a solutions-focused journalism show.
- 23:48SPEAKER_12: So not just here's the problem, but here's a solution maker, um, a solver.
- 23:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's called Solutions from the Street.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: And so I've seen the promos.
- 23:58SPEAKER_12: Yes, yeah.
- 23:59SPEAKER_12: So we have a problem, we identify it, and then we spend the rest of the time interviewing somebody who's doing something about it.
- 24:04SPEAKER_12: Um, so that's big.
- 24:06SPEAKER_12: And then now we're gonna do that every other week, and we're gonna do similar to this, just a bunch of here are some topics, talk, and we're gonna hope it goes well.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: So that should be fun.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: You get better and better at it.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: I mean, I'm still rusty, but like you get a natural flow for it.
- 24:21SPEAKER_03: It's pretty fun.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: I think you'd like it.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: If you already like talking about constructed subjects, you already have a sense for it.
- 24:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: Your brain naturally is like, oh, this would be a perfect segue.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're gonna, you're, you're gonna be great.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: I think it'll be and of course Scott feeds off of that stuff too.
- 24:36SPEAKER_12: Right, yeah, yeah, it's fun.
- 24:38SPEAKER_12: We have a good time.
- 24:39SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm I'm I Ren and I both are extremely happy to be a part of the family for sure.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, I'm very honored.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: Um so I alright, so what am I forgetting, Ren?
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: We need to ask yourself, we need to play another song, you know, because we're gonna have to go to commercial break pretty quick.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:54SPEAKER_04: Um, should I say, we have to go to a sponsored break pretty quick.
- 24:57SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: You said too that we're not supposed to mention the sponsored breaks anymore because when we go on air.
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: Well, we can still say because they're gonna go to a sponsored break.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: They'll go it may not be our sponsors, but they'll be at a sponsored break.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: Sorry, to show how the sausage is made for a moment.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 25:15SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 25:15SPEAKER_04: I should have discussed this with you before.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: That's the appeal we have.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: Um, all right, so what am I forgetting?
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: I mean, I there's I got a bunch of questions, and you know I always like to ask the guests what do they want to plug?
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: Is there any events or or keep it?
- 25:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there you go.
- 25:32SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: We're gonna have time again, but uh yeah, we're gonna recover some of this because we're kind of redundant.
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: I really derailed everything when I mentioned.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: It was you, Ren.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: It was you.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: All you this is the moment I said this has nothing to do with anything.
- 25:47SPEAKER_12: Yeah, this has nothing to do with anything.
- 25:49SPEAKER_12: That's cheery.
- 25:50SPEAKER_12: Um, so yeah, well, we have the KSJ Zero Mile Fun Run.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: That would this will air probably long after that is, or long after that happens.
- 25:59SPEAKER_12: Yeah, because it's gonna happen in May.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: Oh no, it'll be right out, it'd be close.
- 26:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: Okay, perfect.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: May 21st.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: So the I was thinking the zero mile run or the is that the fun run?
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 26:11SPEAKER_12: Zero mile fun run.
- 26:12SPEAKER_12: So yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_04: This is this is something I can get behind.
- 26:17SPEAKER_12: Yes.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: So that is like it you just start and then you sit down.
- 26:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, pretty much.
- 26:23SPEAKER_12: You start and then you finish immediately.
- 26:25SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_12: Oh, I love that.
- 26:28SPEAKER_12: The perfect fundraiser.
- 26:29SPEAKER_12: You it doesn't require much of you, yeah.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: Thank God.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: Because there, well, there's a lot of me that I can, although eight pounds more less today than three weeks ago.
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: Hey, that's big.
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: That's a challenge because I can barely wash.
- 26:43SPEAKER_04: That is a challenge.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: Good on you, Dave.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: Good job.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: The doctor thought was impressed this morning too when she was like, yeah.
- 26:51SPEAKER_04: And I had a blood thing that I was worried about.
- 26:54SPEAKER_04: Uh I already texted my kids, so I guess I can let it out of bag.
- 26:57SPEAKER_04: I was concerned that there was something major wrong with me, only because I don't think doctors really know how to tell you you need to come back and see me because we gotta do more blood work because there's something going on.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: They don't want to stress you out.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: Well, that stresses me out more.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: They don't obviously don't know me.
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: Acting weird makes it worse.
- 27:13SPEAKER_04: So, but uh it has to do with blood uh red cell count and it can be fixed with medication if it's not better.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: So uh I don't know.
- 27:23SPEAKER_04: She just thinks I was dehydrated and I needed to drink more water.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: So the last three days, and I'm surprised I haven't got had to go pee yet, but the last three days, I've had like uh in the last three days I've had more than probably a gallon of water a day.
- 27:36SPEAKER_04: So I'm probably looking at six gallons of water in the last three days easily.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, I hear that's ideal, like a gallon a day or something like that.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: A gallon a day is what it should be.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: It's what it should be, yeah.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: Especially somebody my size.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: At least a gallon a day.
- 27:49SPEAKER_04: But the other thing that does is, you know, because of my advanced age, uh it's more trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Yikes.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: So yeah, it's not fun.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: So you know, sleep hasn't come too well.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: But I'm like relieved.
- 28:04SPEAKER_04: All right, so uh we're talking with Megan Cullop.
- 28:07SPEAKER_12: Yes, good job.
- 28:08SPEAKER_12: Very good.
- 28:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:09SPEAKER_04: It'll be in forever and edge in my brain.
- 28:11SPEAKER_04: I'll be dreaming about you tonight.
- 28:13SPEAKER_04: Well, not you particularly, but your name.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: That's exactly.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: Oh, I wish you hadn't done that.
- 28:20SPEAKER_06: That's exactly what's gonna happen now.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm glad I didn't have a headset on.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: Um all right, and at KSJE and all the great stuff they got going on at KSJE.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: What did what have we forgotten that we should talk about at KSJE?
- 28:33SPEAKER_12: At KSJE?
- 28:34SPEAKER_12: Um, so I always like to talk about the freedom that KSJE affords people.
- 28:39SPEAKER_12: So it is twofold.
- 28:41SPEAKER_12: One is it's refreshing to have a radio show or radio station that has so much community involvement.
- 28:48SPEAKER_12: So they're quick on the uptake.
- 28:50SPEAKER_12: There's a community event, let's highlight it.
- 28:51SPEAKER_12: There's a community issue, let's highlight it.
- 28:53SPEAKER_12: I mean, that's a special thing.
- 28:55SPEAKER_12: And then the other special thing is that like for me, it's format free.
- 28:59SPEAKER_12: I don't have any constraints over what type of music I play.
- 29:02SPEAKER_12: I mean, it just has to meet FCC rules.
- 29:04SPEAKER_12: And other than that, like go to town, play whatever the hell you want, right?
- 29:07SPEAKER_12: And it's like that is something that's unique to community radio stations, independent radio stations that you don't get if you were on a commercial radio station.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: I know the first I told the first time I met with Scott, I'm like, gosh, you guys are like, I'm gonna fit in perfect because you guys are like all over the board.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 29:24SPEAKER_04: Your music was is everywhere.
- 29:26SPEAKER_04: I mean I've heard some great old blues music, but I've also heard some symphony music.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: I've heard symphony music.
- 29:32SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 29:33SPEAKER_04: Not symphony music.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: Never mind.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: Not symphony music.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 29:37SPEAKER_04: And uh all that classic.
- 29:39SPEAKER_04: She's trying to take your job to make it correct.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you know that.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: That's my job here to correct Dave.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: But okay, I'll let it slide.
- 29:47SPEAKER_04: But opera, I mean everything.
- 29:49SPEAKER_04: It's just so I I have it on my I have it on uh uh my home radio.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: Most people don't have radios at home.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: That tells you how old I am.
- 29:56SPEAKER_04: I do.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: I do too.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: And I don't listen to it over the internet, but you can KSJE.com.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: Um but I listen to uh uh almost all of it.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: I mean, if I'm not recording or messing in the studio, it's on and usually cranked up pretty loud.
- 30:10SPEAKER_04: So I I I get you in my bedroom, Megan.
- 30:17SPEAKER_12: It it goes it goes there sometimes.
- 30:20SPEAKER_12: Sometimes it goes there.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: The radio DJ is sometimes there with you during your most intimate moments.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: The the uh the the most trouble I ever got into by a lady's husband, I was at a thing at her sh at a show where we were we were we were out doing our thing on location, and this woman comes up and says to me, Oh, I can't and her husband's with her, I can't get you in the bedroom or in the shower.
- 30:43SPEAKER_04: I can't get you in the shower.
- 30:45SPEAKER_04: And of course, my immediate response was, Well, you haven't asked.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: But she meant her radio wouldn't pick up the video.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: It wouldn't pick up the signal.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: So, so I get it.
- 30:57SPEAKER_04: All right, we better play another Dolly song.
- 30:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you bet.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: Here's another classic uh Jolene.
- 31:12SPEAKER_08: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolie.
- 31:17SPEAKER_08: I'm begging of you, please don't take my man.
- 31:23SPEAKER_08: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolie.
- 31:29SPEAKER_08: Please don't take him just because you care Your beauty is beyond compare with flaming locks of auburn hair, with ivory skin, and eyes of emerald green.
- 31:46SPEAKER_08: Your smile is like a breath of spring, your voice is soft like summer rain, and I cannot compete with you, Jolie.
- 31:57SPEAKER_08: He talks about you in his sleep, and there's nothing I can do to keep from crying when he calls your name Jolie And I can easily understand how you could easily take my man, but you don't know what he means to me, Jolie.
- 32:19SPEAKER_08: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, I'm begging of you, please don't take my man Jolie, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, please don't take him just because you can You could have your choice of men, but I could never love again.
- 32:48SPEAKER_08: He's the only one for me, Jolene.
- 32:54SPEAKER_08: I had to have this talk with you.
- 32:56SPEAKER_08: My happiness depends on you and whatever you decide to do, Jolene.
- 33:05SPEAKER_08: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you, please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take it even though you can Jolene Jolene Man, you come up that stuff with the last.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: I hardly know her.
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, if we were to get uh Dolly Parton on a Zoom interview, then Dave says, I'll zoom her in.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: Zoom her, I hardly know her.
- 33:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: That's what she said.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: You can come up with all kinds of quotes.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: All right, so we're talking about Dolly Parton.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: We are, but we are I want to Megan brought up a solid point about everything that she's doing and like flip me out here on um a couple of things.
- 34:09SPEAKER_04: One, it's the book program.
- 34:12SPEAKER_04: Okay, so for the first five years of a child's life, they get a book every month.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Month, yep.
- 34:20SPEAKER_04: Okay, and that's not just in Tennessee.
- 34:22SPEAKER_04: Because we were thinking it was just Tennessee.
- 34:23SPEAKER_12: I thought it was just in Tennessee, but no.
- 34:24SPEAKER_12: So it's the Imagination Library, and it's the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and the UK.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: Holy cow.
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: She's international.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:32SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 34:33SPEAKER_03: Dolly worldwide.
- 34:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's and they say participating in communities.
- 34:37SPEAKER_12: I if I remember correctly, it's it's like lower income communities that she provides these, which makes sense, free books too.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: But what a what a great thing.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: What a great thing.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm kind of disappointed that um they kind of forced her to be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, uh like let Dolly be legendarily sweet.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: Let her decline the nomination.
- 34:58SPEAKER_04: Gracefully decline the nominee.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: Gracefully with a sweet.
- 35:01SPEAKER_04: Which I thought she did, and I thought it was uh And why did she decline it?
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: Because I asked you guys that.
- 35:05SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: Because she personally doesn't believe that she is a rock and roll artist and she doesn't want to take the spot in the Hall of Fame from somebody who she thinks would be more deserving, who has dedicated their life to rock and roll.
- 35:18SPEAKER_04: She did say, however, I will I will come up with a rock song.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then let's talk.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:25SPEAKER_04: That way I can at least say that.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:27SPEAKER_12: I hope she does.
- 35:28SPEAKER_12: I want to hear Dolly Harton with the rock song.
- 35:31SPEAKER_12: Are you kidding me?
- 35:31SPEAKER_12: Oh my gosh.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: She gets kind of poppy, but I yeah, I wouldn't say she's not really rock and roll.
- 35:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: Pop would work, though, I guess.
- 35:40SPEAKER_04: Maybe.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: No, it won't.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: She's it's gotta be rock and roll.
- 35:43SPEAKER_04: I want to hear her do a Joan Jett tune.
- 35:46SPEAKER_12: She'd kill it.
- 35:47SPEAKER_04: She would kill it.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:49SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 35:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, she doesn't have to write one.
- 35:51SPEAKER_04: Just cover a couple.
- 35:52SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 35:53SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 35:53SPEAKER_04: That voice?
- 35:54SPEAKER_04: It's not probably not in her makeup to do.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: No, to do a cover.
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: She's too original.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: She could do it.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: I think so.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: What did you say also about the Moderna vaccine?
- 36:09SPEAKER_12: Yeah, she donated millions of dollars to the research that went behind the Moderna vaccine and then was a big advocate for getting vaccinated.
- 36:17SPEAKER_12: She wrote these cute little songs about getting vaccinated.
- 36:19SPEAKER_12: She televised her own vaccination.
- 36:23SPEAKER_12: So she was doing the right thing.
- 36:25SPEAKER_04: Did you tell me too she sponsors a lot of these places that are giving the vaccine?
- 36:29SPEAKER_12: I don't know if it's a sponsorship.
- 36:31SPEAKER_12: I just think that it was an ode to her because there was this understanding that she was the she was the single like person biggest donor, coming from like a a singular person.
- 36:41SPEAKER_12: So when I worked the vaccine clinic, there was a life size cutout of Dolly Parton.
- 36:47SPEAKER_12: It was amazing.
- 36:49SPEAKER_12: She was like waving you in.
- 36:51SPEAKER_04: Come up me in the Did you try to steal it?
- 36:54SPEAKER_12: I thought about it.
- 36:55SPEAKER_12: I thought about it so much because I was like, God, this would look great in my living room.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: Ultimately, I feel like Dolly wouldn't have wanted us to steal.
- 37:03SPEAKER_03: No.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: So we did the right thing, Khan.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: I wasn't even there.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: I don't know why I'm including my phone.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: We did the right thing.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: She would shot Megan.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: Because I would have walked out of there with that thing in a heartbeat if I thought it would get it.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's true.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: Hopefully it's still there, and whoever has it is.
- 37:18SPEAKER_12: I know.
- 37:18SPEAKER_12: I wonder if I wonder if the Department of Health still has it.
- 37:21SPEAKER_12: They're like, this is gonna be useful.
- 37:23SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I'm sure they kept it.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: Put a Santa hat on her.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: Bring her up for Christmas.
- 37:27SPEAKER_04: Bring her up for Christmas.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, play another parting song.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: It will.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: This one's a little poppy Islands in the stream.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, this is a good one.
- 37:35SPEAKER_04: Katie Rogers and her, right?
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 37:44SPEAKER_10: Maybe when I met you there was peace on you.
- 37:48SPEAKER_10: I set up to get you with a fine tooth calm.
- 37:53SPEAKER_10: I was soft inside.
- 37:55SPEAKER_10: There was something going wrong.
- 38:03SPEAKER_10: You do something to me that I can't extreme.
- 38:08SPEAKER_10: Hold me closer and I feel no pain.
- 38:11SPEAKER_10: I'm breathing in my heart.
- 38:14SPEAKER_10: We got something going.
- 38:20SPEAKER_10: Tender love is blind.
- 38:23SPEAKER_10: It requires a dedication.
- 38:26SPEAKER_10: All this love we feel need no conversation right together, uh-uh.
- 38:35SPEAKER_08: Make them love each other, uh-uh.
- 38:39SPEAKER_08: Islands in the stream, that is what we are, no one in between.
- 38:46SPEAKER_08: How can we be wrong?
- 38:49SPEAKER_08: Sail away with me to another world, and we rely on each other, uh- uh From one lover to another, uh-uh.
- 39:06SPEAKER_08: I can't live without you if the love was gone.
- 39:11SPEAKER_08: Everything is nothing if you got no one and you didn't walk in the night, slowly losing sight of the real thing.
- 39:25SPEAKER_08: But that won't happen to us and we got no death Too deep in love and we got no way out and the message is clear This could be the year for the real thing No more way to cry Maybe I will have to get We start an in spot in a long forever We can ride it together Uh-uh Making love with each other Uh-huh Islands in the street That is what we are in between How can we be roll Sail away with me to another world We rely on each other I am the street That is what we are in the tree And then we love Sail the way with me to the world I'm gonna That is what we are no one in between How can we be wrong Sail away with me to another world And we rely on each other to another What Julie something Julie Eating Yeah Dave is currently signing to somebody outside who's wondering where Julie is that was very cool on that was actually uh We are yeah are we yeah Oh nice I was just so smooth we should teach her the board too you are so smooth she's like buttock Yeah I didn't even notice That was pretty cool thank you I do know American Sign Language I have three years of it I have forgotten more than I can ever remember but yes I do you definitely know enough to be like he was Yeah I talked to that he knew it when he started signing like he wanted Julian Oh he knows sign language she's eating and he asked how long and you said one hour that was good that was good speaking of uh the picture that won Best Picture last night was Coda about uh a deaf family who has a daughter who makes it big in the music.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I saw them, I didn't know what the what was going on exactly, but I saw a lot of people signing.
- 42:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:35SPEAKER_04: So matter of fact, the lady I love the lady that had the big boobs too.
- 42:39SPEAKER_04: Of course, but the one that's we're talking about Dolly Parton.
- 42:42SPEAKER_04: Sounds about right.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but the one that did the uh the the spill, the blonde-headed gal that just had a kid and she she uh was talking about losing her baby fat.
- 42:51SPEAKER_04: I can't remember her name.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Loved her, and she did a great job of uh her comedic part of the Oscars.
- 42:57SPEAKER_03: Amy Schumer.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: That's it, Amy Schumer.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I love Amy Schumer.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Oh, good, yeah.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I didn't I didn't I I liked what I saw last night when she was hanging around like Spider-Man.
- 43:05SPEAKER_04: So that was funny.
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: All right, Megan.
- 43:08SPEAKER_04: We usually try I know you gotta go.
- 43:09SPEAKER_04: We have a little time left, but we're gonna let you say your piece.
- 43:12SPEAKER_04: Typically, I like to give the uh the guest an opportunity to say whatever's on their mom uh mind.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: Whatever's on your mom's mind.
- 43:20SPEAKER_03: What's ever on your mind?
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: Like, hi mom.
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 43:23SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: That's what he was going to say.
- 43:24SPEAKER_04: That's my shorthand for that's my short mouth for what's on your mind?
- 43:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, mom.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: Or hi mom.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: Huh.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: What's on your mom?
- 43:33SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:34SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 43:36SPEAKER_12: What's on my mind?
- 43:37SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 43:38SPEAKER_12: Man, well, that's a big question.
- 43:40SPEAKER_12: I think the first thing I thought of when you said that was just that we have this thing called Mission of Mercy coming up, and it's free dental care for those who need it.
- 43:49SPEAKER_12: And I was just offered the sort of volunteer chair slot, and so I've been thinking about that all day because that is a job.
- 43:56SPEAKER_12: I don't think I realized until I signed up for it.
- 43:58SPEAKER_12: So, Mission of Mercy, free dental care.
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: It's gonna be coming in September.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: So that's really big of you to take that role.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: That is gonna be intense.
- 44:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's a it's a lot of volunteers that are needed.
- 44:08SPEAKER_12: I was like, how am I supposed to recruit?
- 44:11SPEAKER_04: My only question is do you have to put your hand in anybody's mouth?
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: No, I I just wear a vest.
- 44:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're just all you gotta worry about.
- 44:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:19SPEAKER_04: All right, anything else?
- 44:21SPEAKER_04: I want to thank you for coming on.
- 44:22SPEAKER_12: Yeah, thank you.
- 44:23SPEAKER_12: Thank you.
- 44:23SPEAKER_04: We'll have you back.
- 44:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was super fun.
- 44:25SPEAKER_04: I hope so.
- 44:25SPEAKER_04: I try to have Scott on twice a year, so we'll put you down for twice a year as well.
- 44:30SPEAKER_12: That would be fun.
- 44:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_08: Here you come again.
- 44:46SPEAKER_08: Just when I've begun to get myself together.
- 44:51SPEAKER_08: You are trying to go.
- 44:53SPEAKER_08: Just like you've done before.
- 44:56SPEAKER_08: And wrap my heart round your little fingers.
- 45:01SPEAKER_08: Here you come again.
- 45:05SPEAKER_08: Just when I'm about to make it work without you.
- 45:10SPEAKER_08: You look into my eyes and life with eyes.
- 45:14SPEAKER_08: And pretty soon I'm wondering how I came to without you.
- 45:19SPEAKER_08: All you gotta do is smile and smile.
- 45:23SPEAKER_08: And then oh my chair.
- 45:30SPEAKER_08: And middle in the wild.
- 45:32SPEAKER_08: You're messing with my mind.
- 45:38SPEAKER_08: Here you come up again.
- 45:46SPEAKER_08: And shaking me up so I mean no, you see you come again.
- 45:54SPEAKER_08: And here I go.
- 46:32SPEAKER_08: Here you come again.
- 46:40SPEAKER_08: And shaking me up so here you come again.
- 46:48SPEAKER_08: And here I go.
- 46:57SPEAKER_08: And here I go.
- 47:02SPEAKER_08: And here I go.
- 47:11SPEAKER_08: And here I go.
- 47:16unknown: Here I go.
- 47:17SPEAKER_04: Why don't you bring us back in?
- 47:18SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: I think that's a great idea, and I think I'll do that right now.
- 47:23SPEAKER_04: Honestly, Ryan, I don't know what I would do without you.
- 47:26SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 47:27SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 47:28SPEAKER_04: Um I know.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: I want to thank Megan from K S J E.
- 47:33SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's good to see her.
- 47:34SPEAKER_04: Uh nice lady.
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: That's the first time I met her face to face, I think.
- 47:38SPEAKER_04: Nice lady.
- 47:39SPEAKER_04: Very nice.
- 47:40SPEAKER_04: Thanks for taking time.
- 47:41SPEAKER_04: She had run, you know, because she works at the college, I guess.
- 47:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: Did she say she had a class?
- 47:47SPEAKER_04: She had a class.
- 47:48SPEAKER_03: She has a patient, I believe.
- 47:50SPEAKER_04: A patient?
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: It seemed like an official thing, but the way she described it.
- 47:54SPEAKER_04: What what is she a doctor?
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: I don't know, Dave.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: Patient doctor confidentiality.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: I just wanted to make that joke.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: No, uh I don't we need to find out.
- 48:07SPEAKER_04: We didn't even talk about that.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: Well, maybe it might have been a private thing, because you know, she's a community figure figure, she does a lot of charity, she does a lot of community outreach.
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: It could have been something that maybe she didn't want to let loose.
- 48:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:19SPEAKER_03: Maybe she's Batman.
- 48:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: She always wears a lot of black.
- 48:23SPEAKER_04: Does she?
- 48:24SPEAKER_03: She does.
- 48:24SPEAKER_03: And it's not just because she's a pastor.
- 48:27SPEAKER_03: It is because she is Batman.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: She is Batman.
- 48:31SPEAKER_03: With all the good stuff she does for the community.
- 48:33SPEAKER_04: Yes, I would I would say so.
- 48:35SPEAKER_04: So we need to get a little a light that shines in the far east.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: But it'll just be an outline of her head with her glasses.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: There you go, that'll work.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I like it.
- 48:45SPEAKER_04: Stay tuned, Megan.
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: All right, we're tributing, uh, we're giving Dolly Partner tribute, and I'm not quite sure, but you know, um, we're not sure where we where she honestly stands.
- 48:53SPEAKER_04: We haven't been able to find that information about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Because I don't have my phone.
- 48:57SPEAKER_04: Um, I think she's a classy lady no matter what.
- 49:01SPEAKER_04: If she did if she turns that down, I think her reasoning behind it is solid.
- 49:06SPEAKER_04: Um and and I and I appreciate it.
- 49:09SPEAKER_04: I for one appreciate it.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: I firmly believe she's doing it too out of just being a a a sweet, hospitable southern lady.
- 49:16SPEAKER_03: You know how some people make these moves for to save face, to look good.
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: No, I think she's doing it because she went, oh Matt, that's so sweet, but I'm just not a rock and roller.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: That's not even how she talks.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: No, you're you're not.
- 49:28SPEAKER_04: You can usually get impressions right on that.
- 49:31SPEAKER_03: That one was like, oh my, I'm a southern male.
- 49:34SPEAKER_03: That'll work.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: I don't know the I don't know the Tennessee accent.
- 49:38unknown: Yeah.
- 49:39SPEAKER_04: That'll work.
- 49:39SPEAKER_04: But don't I would just say don't don't put on your resume that you can do Dolly X.
- 49:44SPEAKER_03: I am not a Dolly impersonator.
- 49:45SPEAKER_03: I'll leave that to Trixie Mattel.
- 49:47SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 49:47SPEAKER_03: I brought it back, baby.
- 49:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we won't have to look up Trixie.
- 49:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, she's fun.
- 49:53SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 49:53SPEAKER_04: Um let's play another song.
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: What do you got?
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: I got a weird one.
- 49:58SPEAKER_03: This is called Faith.
- 50:00SPEAKER_03: We have Dolly Parton featuring Mr.
- 50:03SPEAKER_03: Probs.
- 50:04SPEAKER_03: It was on one of her like most played songs on Spotify, and I'm curious.
- 50:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's check it out.
- 50:09SPEAKER_03: It seems like a newer one.
- 50:13SPEAKER_03: But maybe it'll be good because of Dolly.
- 50:14SPEAKER_03: What if Dolly raps?
- 50:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, that'll be all right, I guess.
- 50:28SPEAKER_09: I have it too far.
- 50:32SPEAKER_09: Just have a little faith in me.
- 50:41SPEAKER_09: I can't believe I'll be straight up.
- 50:48SPEAKER_09: Just have a little faith in me.
- 52:52SPEAKER_08: And help me, baby.
- 53:09SPEAKER_06: Stop it.
- 53:19SPEAKER_04: But you know, Ren, I like it when you jam and get down.
- 53:22SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 53:23SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure what the hand in the air meant exactly.
- 53:25SPEAKER_02: It means uh hands in the air like you just don't care.
- 53:28SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 53:29SPEAKER_04: That maybe was like in church and you were feeling the spirit.
- 53:31SPEAKER_02: That too.
- 53:32SPEAKER_04: Holy Spirit activate.
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: That's what that's all kind of had that like magical energy.
- 53:37SPEAKER_03: I love how Dolly Carton comes in almost like she's like a sparkling angel.
- 53:41SPEAKER_04: I didn't hear her much in there.
- 53:42SPEAKER_04: Was she doing it?
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: She's she had like kind of a vocal solo in the middle.
- 53:46SPEAKER_04: Is that what it was?
- 53:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was like at the end I could hear her.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: It was like heavily edited.
- 53:51SPEAKER_03: Um you could tell it was Dolly, but uh it just was uh it was cool.
- 53:55SPEAKER_03: They were using her voice almost more like an instrument.
- 53:57SPEAKER_04: That was like that was close to a pop tune right there, wasn't it?
- 54:00SPEAKER_04: I mean, it was a pop tune.
- 54:02SPEAKER_04: Not rock, maybe, but pop.
- 54:04SPEAKER_03: She even just needs to collaborate, because this was clearly a collaboration.
- 54:07SPEAKER_03: She just needs to collaborate with a couple of rock stars.
- 54:09SPEAKER_04: Perfect.
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: To do some original songs on their stuff.
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: Okay, Ren, we need to get out of here.
- 54:13SPEAKER_04: We got we got our last song picked.
- 54:15SPEAKER_04: I and I love the fact we saved that this one for last because I will always love you.
- 54:19SPEAKER_03: I will always love you too, Dave.
- 54:20SPEAKER_03: Um if you pay me.
- 54:23SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm glad you reminded me.
- 54:25SPEAKER_04: Didn't you do that on purpose?
- 54:26SPEAKER_04: I didn't mean to segue that in there.
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: No, but I'm so glad that that worked that out.
- 54:31SPEAKER_04: Because I had forgotten.
- 54:33SPEAKER_04: Um, let's see.
- 54:35SPEAKER_04: I forgot what I was gonna say.
- 54:36SPEAKER_03: We want to thank Megan Cullop again.
- 54:38SPEAKER_04: Yes, absolutely, Megan, and be looking, uh we got some more shows.
- 54:41SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do a uh we're gonna have Tammy Riser on, uh the owner of our uh new sponsor of uh Encore Coffee.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: Delicious.
- 54:49SPEAKER_04: It is, and um she is like a uh I think it's uh I don't remember.
- 54:54SPEAKER_04: I think we're doing uh Stevie Nicks.
- 54:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, I love it.
- 54:57SPEAKER_04: I think she's a Stevie Nicks.
- 54:59SPEAKER_02: That's who she picked?
- 54:59SPEAKER_04: I think if I remember correctly, let me check and see.
- 55:02SPEAKER_04: I just asked her some of her what kind of genre she liked.
- 55:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's great.
- 55:05SPEAKER_03: I could put together like a girl rockers playlist if that's what she wanted, too.
- 55:10SPEAKER_03: Um because you know how much I love girl rockers.
- 55:13SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 55:14SPEAKER_04: Who did she say?
- 55:15SPEAKER_04: She said yeah, Stevie Nicks.
- 55:17SPEAKER_04: She said Stevie Nicks or Pat Benitar.
- 55:19SPEAKER_03: Good call.
- 55:20SPEAKER_04: And I said, well, let's do Stevie Nicks only because Stevie's older.
- 55:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:24SPEAKER_03: And uh we have less time to honor her.
- 55:28SPEAKER_04: That was freaking mortal.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: That was so mean.
- 55:31SPEAKER_03: Sorry, Stevie.
- 55:32SPEAKER_03: As we all know, Stevie is a witch in immortals.
- 55:34SPEAKER_04: Yes, right.
- 55:35SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 55:36SPEAKER_04: She'll be like wicked.
- 55:38SPEAKER_03: She she's not.
- 55:39SPEAKER_03: She's none of that.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 55:41SPEAKER_03: I just mean she's like an enchantress.
- 55:42SPEAKER_04: She is an enchantress.
- 55:43SPEAKER_04: She's magical.
- 55:44SPEAKER_04: I'll say that.
- 55:44SPEAKER_03: Steve Mix is magical and immortal.
- 55:46SPEAKER_04: Absolutely, and I absolutely adore her.
- 55:48SPEAKER_04: How's that?
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: That'll be fun for us.
- 55:50SPEAKER_04: That's coming up.
- 55:51SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do some more uh tributes to the living artists, and then maybe some more that have gone to the great beyond.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: And then maybe some more like themed shows.
- 55:59SPEAKER_04: Themed shows, yes, we need to do some more themed shows.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: I'm planning one about uh celebrity and the dangers and the toxicity of that.
- 56:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, I love that.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: That's a great idea because all that crap going down with Will Smith.
- 56:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, because we can we need to approach that subject as well.
- 56:13SPEAKER_03: And that's something that a lot of musicians have written songs about.
- 56:16SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 56:16SPEAKER_04: All right, I think that's it.
- 56:17SPEAKER_04: You got the last song.
- 56:19SPEAKER_04: Rain, you got anything else you'd like to say?
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: My favorite story about Dolly Parton is that she grew up pretty impoverished, and in her small town, the ladies that she looked up to the most and thought were the prettiest were the like town harlots who had the short little skirts and the bright lit red lit nails and lipstick.
