- 0:13python one day posted himself near a trail where the animals of the forest were
- 0:17accustomed to pass on their way to the river, and he cried with a
- 0:21loud voice and threatened to catch them. And he did catch a straggler the
- 0:26dwarf antelope, and said that he would swallow him just as he was hide
- 0:30and hair, head and tail all in a lump. At this critical moment,
- 0:35the monkey happened to come along. On seeing him, the antelope called
- 0:38to him at the top of his voice. Friend, the python has caught
- 0:42me, and he threatens to eat me up. The monkey, on hearing
- 0:46this, said to the python, now tell me your side of the story.
- 0:50I have caught him, and I shall certainly eat him up, answered
- 0:53the python. For land's sakes, do open your hands when you talk,
- 0:58and don't act like an old one woman, said the monkey. Then the
- 1:00python felt ashamed and loosened his coils. The antelope understood, quick as a
- 1:07flash, he extricated himself and fled. The monkey also sped away, glad
- 1:11that he had been the means of saving his little friend the antelope from certain
- 1:15death. Author's note wa Kwamie and of Section twenty six read by Lord Gibbs
