Transcript
- 4:01Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on?
- 4:02Speaker 2: It's C.J.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Wilson here with Dope Talk. Got a jam-packed episode for
- 4:06Speaker 1: you guys. A lot of excitement within the FSU community
- 4:09Speaker 1: the last few days, as you guys know. Mike Norvell
- 4:15Speaker 1: was fired from Florida State. Spent some really exciting time.
- 4:19Speaker 1: You're fired.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Zach, one more time for me, Harlan.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You're fired.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Yep. Shout out to Mike, man. So FSU ended up
- 4:28Speaker 1: moving on from Mike Norvell after the Clemson game. Make
- 4:31Speaker 1: sure you guys hit that like button and subscribe to
- 4:33Speaker 1: the channel. So I'm just going to talk about a
- 4:34Speaker 1: little bit. I'm not going to go too deep into
- 4:36Speaker 1: it as far as the Clemson game and I guess
- 4:38Speaker 1: how we kind of got to the situation with Martin Orville.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Then after that, we're going to kind of jump into
- 4:44Speaker 1: play a little game, right? Have fun. This is the
- 4:46Speaker 1: fun time of year, so to speak, whenever your team
- 4:48Speaker 1: is in a situation.
- 4:50Speaker 4: College football, coaching hot boys, right? Never a dull moment.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's going to pretty much be driving the fan base
- 4:55Speaker 1: until you actually announce a coach. So we're going to
- 4:57Speaker 1: play a little game, just throw some names out that
- 5:00Speaker 1: have kind of been attached to the job, good or bad.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm not saying all these guys are actual candidates, just
- 5:05Speaker 1: names we've been seeing. We want to discuss those names
- 5:08Speaker 1: and kind of give some pros and cons from my
- 5:12Speaker 1: opinion standpoint. And then, of course, towards the end, can't
- 5:15Speaker 1: have a show without the callers. I know you guys
- 5:17Speaker 1: probably want to talk about a lot of things. So
- 5:18Speaker 1: if time does prevail, we're going to open up the
- 5:21Speaker 1: phone lines at the end and, of course, get the
- 5:23Speaker 1: conversation going and let you guys get your takes off
- 5:26Speaker 1: and give me hell. Who the hell you want from
- 5:27Speaker 1: my hot board? What coach you want to hire him?
- 5:30Speaker 1: your take on the whole Mike Norvell FSU situation, whatever
- 5:33Speaker 1: it may be. You know, I'd love to give you
- 5:35Speaker 1: guys time to get your shit off your chest. But
- 5:37Speaker 1: before we get started, make sure you guys hit that
- 5:38Speaker 1: like button and subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Hit the like button, takes two seconds out of your time.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Subscribe to the Dope Talk community. Also, before we get
- 5:47Speaker 1: into the spill, we're currently streaming on Twitter as well.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Midpoint of this live, we want to just focus on
- 5:53Speaker 1: YouTube only. So if you're on Twitter now, you know
- 5:57Speaker 1: what I suggest you? Venture over, hit the link on
- 6:00Speaker 1: my timeline, and venture over to the YouTube side of things.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We are going to be transitioning to the YouTube side
- 6:07Speaker 1: of things pretty soon within the show. All right, guys,
- 6:11Speaker 1: let's get it going. So FSU fires Mike Norvell after
- 6:14Speaker 1: a loss to Clemson. Like I said, not going to
- 6:15Speaker 1: spend too much time on it, but long story short,
- 6:18Speaker 1: the team looked completely unprepared coming off a bye week.
- 6:22Speaker 4: The offense could not get anything going.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And so Clemson imploded down the stretch with a bunch
- 6:27Speaker 1: of man coverage in that situation was double swing was
- 6:29Speaker 1: pissed about. He wanted to go zone and kind of
- 6:33Speaker 1: keep things in front of them. But he ended up
- 6:35Speaker 1: going man in some situations and we're able to get
- 6:37Speaker 1: some deep balls. Off of that and score some touchdowns
- 6:42Speaker 1: and kind of get back into the game. But yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: the run game struggle, which we figured it would be
- 6:50Speaker 1: with losing Usman Kromha. But it was really bad, only
- 6:53Speaker 1: 65 rushing yards. Trey Wiseman had 13 touches, well, 43
- 6:57Speaker 1: yards on 13 touches, which isn't good at all.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Defense, what can I say?
- 7:02Speaker 1: The usual. Making terrible teams look better than they are.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Clemson hasn't had a passing touchdown in forever. And, of course,
- 7:08Speaker 1: Reynolds threw for one on Saturday and ran for one
- 7:12Speaker 1: as well, two total touchdowns. I know in the previous
- 7:14Speaker 1: show we was talking about the Clemsons offense versus the
- 7:18Speaker 1: FSU defense. Unstoppable force versus the immovable object. Conversation all week, right? Well,
- 7:25Speaker 1: it really wasn't an unstoppable force versus a movable object
- 7:29Speaker 1: type of situation. It was a stoppable force versus a
- 7:32Speaker 1: very movable object. And the stoppable force won. They had
- 7:37Speaker 1: 351 total yards. And, of course, the third and 12,
- 7:40Speaker 1: the biggest play of the game, a 79-yard touchdown run
- 7:45Speaker 1: by the quarterback. Might be the slowest 80-yard run I've
- 7:48Speaker 1: ever seen. And even with that being so slow, the
- 7:50Speaker 1: quarterback was barely touched. Tony White was fired as well.
- 7:53Speaker 1: rightfully so, along with Evan Cooper, the safeties coach. But
- 7:58Speaker 1: there's no way you should be down 19 points in
- 8:01Speaker 1: the fourth quarter to this Clemson team, this Clemson team.
- 8:05Speaker 1: This might be the worst Clemson team that Dabble Sweeney
- 8:09Speaker 1: has had. I don't think Clemson scored 30 points on
- 8:13Speaker 1: Georgia Southern, if I'm not mistaken. They ended up scoring
- 8:15Speaker 1: 30 points on Florida State, which is Ridiculous, but again,
- 8:19Speaker 1: on par with what we've been seeing. Not to the surprise,
- 8:22Speaker 1: and I kind of said it during the week. Clemson
- 8:25Speaker 1: has been struggling, but what better game to get on
- 8:28Speaker 1: track as a struggling offense than to play Florida State
- 8:33Speaker 1: in a Tony White coach defense.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Clemson scored 22 points on Georgia Southern.
- 8:36Speaker 2: 22.
- 8:36Speaker 4: 22 points on Georgia Southern. 10 points against LSU. 28
- 8:40Speaker 4: against LSU.
- 8:49Speaker 1: North Carolina, 24 against California, 13 against Miami, 37 points
- 8:54Speaker 1: against Charleston Southern. So we gave up this. They gave
- 8:57Speaker 1: up the second most points, but they scored the second
- 9:00Speaker 1: most points this season, 36 versus 37 against Florida State.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'll tell you everything you need to know. But again,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I really think this is Mike Norvell's worst team, in
- 9:10Speaker 1: my opinion, that he's had thus far at Clemson. So
- 9:13Speaker 1: you factor that into what we have, and that's the
- 9:15Speaker 1: reason why he was fired. And also just.
- 9:19Speaker 4: A deeper look at Mike Norvell, right?
- 9:20Speaker 1: Mike Norvell is 10 and 22 since the 2023 season.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Starting in 2024, the past three seasons, 10 and 22.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Let's take a deeper look at that. He's 5 and 21.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You guys heard that correctly. He's 5 and 21 against
- 9:36Speaker 1: Power 4 teams since the 2024 season. The last three years,
- 9:40Speaker 1: Mike Norvell, this is crazy to fucking say, excuse my language,
- 9:44Speaker 1: but 5 and 21 at Florida State. Since 2024, FSU
- 9:49Speaker 1: has the worst record in the ACC, the worst conference
- 9:53Speaker 1: record in the ACC, the absolute worst conference record in
- 9:56Speaker 1: the ACC. You got Syracuse, Duke, all these quote-unquote bottom-feeding
- 10:01Speaker 1: teams in the ACC. Nope, Florida State has the worst
- 10:05Speaker 1: conference record since the 2024 season. I know I said
- 10:09Speaker 1: we're five. Mike is 10-22 since the 24th season, 5-21
- 10:11Speaker 1: against P4 teams since that year. Why not 22 losses?
- 10:18Speaker 1: He also lost to G5 Memphis in 2024, the school
- 10:21Speaker 1: he came from. So, add insult to injury as to
- 10:24Speaker 1: why it's not 22 power four losses. We lost to
- 10:27Speaker 1: a G5 team as well, too. Recruiting class, let's talk
- 10:31Speaker 1: about recruiting. Any momentum on that, FSU is currently ranked
- 10:35Speaker 1: 50th by the 247 composite. So, yeah, it was way
- 10:39Speaker 1: past time for FSU to move on from the Mike
- 10:41Speaker 1: Norvell situation. And that's exactly where we're at right now, unfortunately.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I want to Move on and kind of get into,
- 10:48Speaker 1: like I said, the fun part of the show. Talk
- 10:50Speaker 1: about the pros and cons of some coaches. Pros and
- 10:53Speaker 1: cons of some coaches. Now, we are going to, with
- 10:56Speaker 1: that being said, I'm talking about the coaches and all
- 10:58Speaker 1: that type of deal and the pros and cons of it.
- 11:00Speaker 4: We're going to venture over to the YouTube part of things. Yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 4: my apologies. We're going to venture over to the YouTube
- 11:12Speaker 4: side of things.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So if you guys want to see and hear the
- 11:15Speaker 1: rest of this live, Go ahead and hit the YouTube portion.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Get on Twitter because we're going to end the live
- 11:19Speaker 1: on Twitter. Just focus on YouTube only. Once you come over,
- 11:22Speaker 1: make sure you guys hit that like button and subscribe
- 11:24Speaker 1: to the channel if you haven't already.
- 11:29Speaker 4: All right, let's get on to the coaching carousel. Right
- 11:34Speaker 4: from the soul, man.
- 11:36Speaker 3: You got a super chat.
- 11:37Speaker 1: All right, we got a super chat. Appreciate you, Leo. Organa3000,
- 11:44Speaker 1: if I'm pronouncing your name wrong, please forgive me. Shout
- 11:47Speaker 1: out to CJ, the best bad man in the business.
- 11:50Speaker 1: We got to get it going, man. Shout out to
- 11:52Speaker 1: the bag. It has to be paid one way or another,
- 11:54Speaker 1: and we got the job done. Shout out to the
- 11:55Speaker 1: fan base, man, because the President McCullough interview, well, I
- 12:00Speaker 1: guess you could say press conference, he mentioned how loud
- 12:03Speaker 1: the fan base was on social media and that type
- 12:05Speaker 1: of deal. Don't ever think that you guys don't have power.
- 12:09Speaker 1: You are pretty much the lightblood of the program from
- 12:11Speaker 1: a funding standpoint, without you guys, it wouldn't really be
- 12:14Speaker 1: an FSU football with all the points of the program.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Whether you're donating your booster donation, small or little big,
- 12:21Speaker 1: whether you're coming to Tallahassee and you're spending money on tickets, economy,
- 12:25Speaker 1: whatever it may be, you're a part of all of that.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So don't ever think that you guys don't matter. Alright,
- 12:32Speaker 1: so let's go ahead and venture it over to... I'm
- 12:34Speaker 1: going to go ahead and cut the stream on YouTube
- 12:36Speaker 1: and just focus on.
- 12:39Speaker 4: I'm sorry, cut the.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Appreciate you, man. That's my peoples right there, man. That's
- 12:44Speaker 1: my peoples. Me in 36 with the best bad man
- 12:47Speaker 1: in the building. Of course, I got my, I guess
- 12:51Speaker 1: you could say my financial advisor in my home in
- 12:55Speaker 1: Neenah down there in Gainesville. But yeah, that's where we're
- 12:58Speaker 1: at with it. So let's talk about these coaches a
- 13:00Speaker 1: little bit. The first coach we're going to talk about
- 13:02Speaker 1: is of course Jimbo Fisher. Jimbo has speculated, well, not
- 13:07Speaker 1: necessarily speculated, but he has created a lot of buzz.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Within the FSU fan base, good or bad as far
- 13:13Speaker 1: as a lot of fans on the back. Other fans
- 13:15Speaker 1: kind of want to hold on to how he left
- 13:17Speaker 1: and that type of deal. And I'm not going to,
- 13:18Speaker 1: you know, discredit how each side feels on the situation.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You have valid reasons to feel how you feel. But
- 13:25Speaker 1: for me, I don't, I'm not a, this isn't an
- 13:28Speaker 1: emotional decision for me. It's strictly business. I think he'd
- 13:30Speaker 1: be a solid fit. But let's jump right into it.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So you got former FSU coach, national champion, multiple ACC chip.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I want to go on some pros and cons. Some
- 13:40Speaker 1: of the pros recruit still at one of the best,
- 13:43Speaker 1: one of the best in the country, still one of
- 13:44Speaker 1: the best recruiters in the country building a roster. You know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: he could do that. Even at Florida state A & M,
- 13:51Speaker 1: no matter the position, you know, he's been an elite
- 13:54Speaker 1: recruiter going back to LSU days as well. You know,
- 13:56Speaker 1: we called them the clothes of Brown, Brown jacket, Jimbo,
- 13:59Speaker 1: all those types of deals. Even at A & M,
- 14:01Speaker 1: I think those guys had the number one recruiting class ever.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Even though I don't think that class panned out, but
- 14:07Speaker 1: from a recruiting standpoint, He knows what he's doing. And,
- 14:11Speaker 1: of course, Elko has benefited from that with Jimbo's players.
- 14:14Speaker 1: You know, he benefited and went to the playoffs last
- 14:15Speaker 1: year after a pretty successful season for Texas A & M.
- 14:18Speaker 1: He's struggling right now. But, again, he was able to
- 14:20Speaker 1: benefit off the roster that Jimbo had built out there
- 14:23Speaker 1: at Texas A & M.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Excuse me.
- 14:25Speaker 1: He'll be relatively cheap, too. He has to buy off
- 14:29Speaker 1: from Texas A & M. Who said something about, oh, bitch,
- 14:33Speaker 1: you cooking? It's time to cook, baby. So, again, he
- 14:39Speaker 1: The money, he's relatively cheap from a money standpoint. He's
- 14:41Speaker 1: getting like seven plus million from Texas A & M
- 14:43Speaker 1: on an annual basis.
- 14:45Speaker 4: You could throw that money elsewhere, right?
- 14:47Speaker 1: So you don't have to pay a huge buyout to
- 14:48Speaker 1: Jimbo because you're already in the red, the negative, so
- 14:51Speaker 1: to speak, with paying off Mike Norvell. You can offset
- 14:55Speaker 1: that a little bit with Jimbo Fisher. He'll come in
- 14:57Speaker 1: on a relatively cheap contract and you can make it
- 15:00Speaker 1: instead of heavy. Win football games, right? Win football games.
- 15:03Speaker 1: That's pretty much all Jimbo has to do. Come in
- 15:05Speaker 1: and win football games. You get X amount of money.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I think he'll be okay with that because he knows
- 15:09Speaker 1: he can win in the ACC. He see, if you
- 15:11Speaker 1: guys look at the 2027 schedule for FSU, it's very,
- 15:16Speaker 1: it's a very doable schedule, right? Very doable. You don't
- 15:19Speaker 1: have the LSUs of the world, the Bama's of the
- 15:21Speaker 1: world that we typically play, whatever we've been playing the
- 15:23Speaker 1: last four years with the ACC contract. Of course we
- 15:26Speaker 1: have Miami Clemson is on the schedule, but they're not
- 15:30Speaker 1: the same Clemson. We won't get into the entire schedule,
- 15:32Speaker 1: but as you just look at it, it's not bad
- 15:33Speaker 1: at all. Um, He's proving that he can build a program.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I know fans are pretty much sour on how he left,
- 15:41Speaker 1: but he understands the lay of the land. He's still
- 15:43Speaker 1: in town in Tallahassee. He's making calls to recruits. Well,
- 15:48Speaker 1: not necessarily recruits, but coaches in recruiting areas, South Georgia,
- 15:51Speaker 1: South Florida, and that type of deal. I have on
- 15:54Speaker 1: good authority that some high-profile recruits would flip to Jimbo
- 15:57Speaker 1: Fisher if he was named the head coach. I have
- 16:00Speaker 1: that on high authority. If he was to flip, I'm sorry,
- 16:03Speaker 1: if he was to be hired at FSU, um have
- 16:09Speaker 1: on good authority that some high profile recruits would flip
- 16:11Speaker 1: including maybe some possible five stars as well just the
- 16:14Speaker 1: type of guy he is in the relationship he's built
- 16:17Speaker 1: so those are some of the pros i feel like
- 16:19Speaker 1: he will have and also like he he just knows
- 16:22Speaker 1: the acc man but let's get some of the cons
- 16:25Speaker 1: right possible cons is he past his prime a lot
- 16:29Speaker 1: of people question that um The glory years at FSU.
- 16:32Speaker 1: And then, of course, things kind of tailed off. And
- 16:34Speaker 1: when things tailed off, it wasn't, he was still winning
- 16:38Speaker 1: 10 damn games, right? Going to the Orange Bowl, competing
- 16:40Speaker 1: for the ACC. At that point in time, we weren't
- 16:42Speaker 1: winning the ACC because Clemson and Dabo, that's when Dabo
- 16:45Speaker 1: was pretty much getting into his dominant ACC phase at
- 16:49Speaker 1: that point in time.
- 16:50Speaker 4: But you go back to the 2016 game, the.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Dabo-Cook game, hell, we went blow for blow with those
- 16:55Speaker 1: guys and really should have won that game at that
- 16:57Speaker 1: point in time.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Then 2017, we all know, Jimbo checked out early in
- 17:01Speaker 4: that season.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And after losing DeAndre Francois and starting a true freshman
- 17:04Speaker 1: in James Blackman, the rest was history. That's why we
- 17:07Speaker 1: went six and seven and seven and six that year,
- 17:09Speaker 1: if I'm not mistaken. He ended up going to Texas
- 17:12Speaker 1: A & M. He didn't pass his prime. Outdated philosophy.
- 17:16Speaker 1: One of our biggest concerns, the biggest complaints at Florida
- 17:18Speaker 1: State was the playbook and him being the offensive coordinator
- 17:22Speaker 1: at that point in time, being a play caller and
- 17:24Speaker 1: the head coach. We knew it was outdated philosophy. We
- 17:27Speaker 1: complained about, and it's funny as hell because we are
- 17:31Speaker 1: begging for field goals now, but there will be certain
- 17:32Speaker 1: situations where it's like fourth and one or fourth and inches,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and Jimbo wouldn't go for it, and he'll end up
- 17:38Speaker 1: kicking a field goal or something along those lines. And
- 17:40Speaker 1: fast forward to Mike Norvell, shit don't matter, fourth and whatever,
- 17:43Speaker 1: Mike's going for it at any point in the field.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But with that being said, I would not want him
- 17:52Speaker 1: calling plays. I would need him to bring in an
- 17:53Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. And from what I've been hearing, that's actually
- 17:57Speaker 1: the plan. That would be the plan is him to
- 17:58Speaker 1: bring in an actual offensive coordinator. So is the philosophy outdated?
- 18:02Speaker 1: That's a question as well. He was fired from Texas
- 18:05Speaker 1: A & M. He was fired from Texas A & M.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Had a 45-25 record there, which is pretty damn good,
- 18:09Speaker 1: to be honest with you. He was fired after going
- 18:12Speaker 1: 5-7 and 6-4 his last two years there. There's some context,
- 18:16Speaker 1: in my opinion, to that. He lost his starting quarterback
- 18:20Speaker 1: in both of those years. I think one of those
- 18:21Speaker 1: years he was down to like a third-string quarterback. And
- 18:24Speaker 1: also at Mike Elko, for example, his record is damn
- 18:29Speaker 1: near identical to Jimbo Fisher at this point in time
- 18:34Speaker 1: in their tenure as a Texas A & M head coach.
- 18:37Speaker 1: The damn graphic is amazing because it's also similar to
- 18:41Speaker 1: Kevin Sumlin. If you guys remember when Jimbo first took
- 18:44Speaker 1: the job at A & M, you see the comparisons
- 18:47Speaker 1: between him and Kevin Sumlin at this point in time
- 18:49Speaker 1: in their tenure. And it was damn near identical. If
- 18:52Speaker 1: you look at the same graph with Mike Elko and
- 18:54Speaker 1: Jamal Fisher at this time during their tenure, it's pretty
- 18:58Speaker 1: much the same, record-wise. What that tells me is it's
- 19:04Speaker 1: a Texas A & M issue. You have all the
- 19:06Speaker 1: money in the world, this, that, and third. Those guys
- 19:08Speaker 1: just aren't built to win. Excuse me, they're just not
- 19:11Speaker 1: that type of program. No matter who the head coach is,
- 19:14Speaker 1: it's just one of those programs that'll never win. Who
- 19:16Speaker 1: the head coach, no matter how many resources you pour in,
- 19:19Speaker 1: all the money, whatever, it's just not that program. And
- 19:22Speaker 1: even 45 and 25 isn't bad. It's not bad, but
- 19:27Speaker 1: at the same time with how he was recruiting, which
- 19:29Speaker 1: is what we want, he was bringing top 10, top
- 19:31Speaker 1: 5 classes annually with Texas A & M, so you
- 19:34Speaker 1: expect better results. I get that 100%.
- 19:37Speaker 4: I think that's a Texas A & M issue.
- 19:39Speaker 1: You give me those recruits at Florida State, those recruiting
- 19:41Speaker 1: classes at Florida State competing with the ACC schedule, we'll
- 19:46Speaker 1: be cooking, in my opinion. But yeah, at the same
- 19:50Speaker 1: down point as during the tenure as far as, like
- 19:53Speaker 1: I said, Kevin Sloan and Mike Elko, pretty much the
- 19:55Speaker 1: same record.
- 19:56Speaker 4: So those are the cons that people have with Jimbo Fisher.
- 19:59Speaker 1: And I know a lot of fans have the emotions
- 20:02Speaker 1: involved in how he left, you know, quote, unquote, quit
- 20:04Speaker 1: on the team and that type of deal. I get it.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I definitely understand that. But that was– What year was
- 20:11Speaker 1: that shit?
- 20:12Speaker 2: 2017?
- 20:12Speaker 4: Damn near 10 years ago. I moved on from that.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It's time to play some big boy football, and I
- 20:18Speaker 1: think Jimbo Fisher would be a good fit. He's hungry
- 20:20Speaker 1: for the job. You get a chance to learn from
- 20:23Speaker 1: your mistakes at Texas A & M and Florida State
- 20:25Speaker 1: as well, too, and get your fire going and figure
- 20:29Speaker 1: out what you can do differently on your next opportunity.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I do believe this next opportunity will be a long-haul
- 20:35Speaker 1: opportunity for Jimbo Fisher if, before the opportunity, He'll want
- 20:38Speaker 1: to finish out his career and retire at Florida State,
- 20:40Speaker 1: just in my opinion. This is the program. He really
- 20:43Speaker 1: didn't want to leave, in hindsight, what you had to
- 20:45Speaker 1: with everything that Texas A & M threw at him
- 20:49Speaker 1: at that point in time. So we'll see how things
- 20:51Speaker 1: play out. But Jimbo Fisher is a name to watch
- 20:53Speaker 1: out for as well. Well, not as well, but of
- 20:55Speaker 1: course he's a name to watch out for as he's
- 20:57Speaker 1: been kind of tied to it within, I guess you
- 20:59Speaker 1: could say, the last month or so. Next one to
- 21:03Speaker 1: discuss is Glenn Shuman, dude. UGA defensive coordinator. Let's talk
- 21:07Speaker 1: about this one a little bit in the comment packet. Glenn,
- 21:10Speaker 1: in my opinion, is a really good recruiter. Really good recruiter.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Linebacker developer. You got Raylon Wilson, a five-star from right
- 21:18Speaker 1: here in Tallahassee, Lincoln. Ended up snatching him from right
- 21:20Speaker 1: up under our nose. He's balling for UGA. And that's
- 21:23Speaker 1: just one of the linebackers he recruited, right? I mean,
- 21:26Speaker 1: those guys recruit that position at a very high clip.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Darren gets linebacker drafted every year in the NFL. I
- 21:33Speaker 1: will probably honestly call Georgia... Linebacker U right now with
- 21:36Speaker 1: how they've been producing has been really great since Kirby
- 21:40Speaker 1: has took over. And since Kirby has took over, Glenn
- 21:43Speaker 1: has been the focal point and the driving force behind
- 21:46Speaker 1: the linebacker position. It was also under Nick Saban at
- 21:51Speaker 1: Alabama previously when Kirby Smarks, the defensive coordinator there. And
- 21:54Speaker 1: the first call that Kirby made when he was named
- 21:57Speaker 1: the head coach at Georgia was Glenn Schumann to come
- 22:00Speaker 1: onto his staff. So that's something to note as well.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Won't be an outrageous buyout, you know, being thrown around,
- 22:07Speaker 1: you know, being a defensive coordinator at the University of Georgia.
- 22:10Speaker 1: He also knows what it looks like, right? When I
- 22:12Speaker 1: say he knows what it looks like, he knows what
- 22:14Speaker 1: a winning program looks like. He knows what a elite
- 22:19Speaker 1: program looks like. He knows what it takes, the ingredients,
- 22:25Speaker 1: to build a championship roster, not just from a recruiting standpoint,
- 22:29Speaker 1: a development standpoint, camaraderie standpoint, all of those things you can,
- 22:32Speaker 1: you know, tie that to his time with saving, of course,
- 22:36Speaker 1: his time with Kirby Smart in Alabama. He has also
- 22:43Speaker 1: been a part of some high-stake environments at Bama and UGA.
- 22:47Speaker 1: So we all know the pressure that comes with being
- 22:50Speaker 1: the coach at Florida State, right? That pressure can make
- 22:54Speaker 1: or break you. That pressure kind of broke Willie Taggart.
- 22:57Speaker 1: The moment was kind of too big for Willie Taggart.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You can say at a certain point that pressure broke
- 23:02Speaker 1: Mike Norvell playing these high-stakes games, you have a fan
- 23:06Speaker 1: base that expects greatness, expects wins, and this, that, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: the third, and when that isn't delivered, the fan base
- 23:12Speaker 1: is going to let you know about that. Georgia's the
- 23:15Speaker 1: same way. The same way. High-stakes environment, those guys are
- 23:21Speaker 1: all about winning. Bama, high-stakes environment, those guys are all
- 23:24Speaker 1: about winning. You lose one game, you're scrutinized heavily in this, that,
- 23:29Speaker 1: and the third because of the program you built. So,
- 23:32Speaker 1: He's been a part of a high-stakes environment, knows what
- 23:34Speaker 1: all comes into it. Now, of course, it's different being
- 23:36Speaker 1: a coordinator in a high-stakes environment type of job versus
- 23:41Speaker 1: being a head.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Coach because that's two completely animals.
- 23:45Speaker 1: That's something he would definitely have to adjust with and
- 23:47Speaker 1: kind of learn on the job if he's given that opportunity.
- 23:51Speaker 1: But at the same time, like I said, you've been
- 23:53Speaker 1: watching Kirby Smart and how he handled those situations. You
- 23:55Speaker 1: were under Nick Saban and see how he handles those situations.
- 23:58Speaker 1: So the pedigree is... From a pedigree standpoint, it doesn't
- 24:01Speaker 1: get any better. It's top tier, right? But like I said,
- 24:06Speaker 1: being a head coach is different, but you have comparable experiences.
- 24:11Speaker 1: He has his chops in the south. He knows the
- 24:13Speaker 1: lay of the land, recruits the area. Front of Valdosta area,
- 24:16Speaker 1: recruits Florida, Georgia, pretty much whatever you need within Tallahassee.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm talking about my guy Grimes. He mentioned this all
- 24:23Speaker 1: the time. Everything you need in Tallahassee is within a
- 24:26Speaker 1: 250-mile radius. 250. Go over to Jacksonville, go west, Pensacola,
- 24:34Speaker 1: Alabama area, Georgia, and, of course, you have a central
- 24:38Speaker 1: Florida area. Only time you need to go outside that
- 24:40Speaker 1: 250 is if you're going a little further south into
- 24:43Speaker 1: South Florida. But everything you truly need is within the
- 24:46Speaker 1: 250 radius. And, of course, you go down to South
- 24:48Speaker 1: Florida and get your dogs down there from Broward Day
- 24:52Speaker 1: and Palm Beach, right?
- 24:54Speaker 4: So he knows the little land. He knows those recruiting areas.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Knows those stomping grounds, already has relationships built in those areas,
- 25:02Speaker 1: so it'll be a seamless transition for him to get in, recruit,
- 25:05Speaker 1: and get going at Florida State.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Let's talk about some of the cons. First time head coach.
- 25:10Speaker 4: That's important. I mean, we're at Florida State now.
- 25:14Speaker 1: We're at a very important, pivotal, excuse me, I'm not
- 25:20Speaker 1: the greatest speaker, pivotal time for Florida State as far as.
- 25:26Speaker 4: The program. We can't mess this up. We can't mess
- 25:28Speaker 4: this up.
- 25:29Speaker 1: We already went G5 twice with Willie Tiger, Mike Norvell,
- 25:32Speaker 1: didn't work out. If you mess this one up, you could,
- 25:37Speaker 1: the program could be going, which I don't really believe,
- 25:39Speaker 1: but the program could just be in a downward spiral
- 25:41Speaker 1: with how things are going from the NCAA standpoint.
- 25:44Speaker 4: So you have to kind of get this right.
- 25:45Speaker 1: So I do understand the pause on the guy that
- 25:47Speaker 1: never actually ran the program, but The closest thing, in
- 25:52Speaker 1: my opinion, to, I guess, running a program, if you're
- 25:55Speaker 1: not a G5 head coach, and even not being a
- 25:57Speaker 1: G5 head coach, being a coordinator at these type of jobs, right,
- 26:02Speaker 1: these type of jobs, I think there's value in that
- 26:07Speaker 1: as well. So being a coordinator in these type of jobs, Georgia,
- 26:11Speaker 1: just use Georgia for example, he fits that, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Bama,
- 26:16Speaker 1: these type of jobs, like high-stake jobs where it's not
- 26:19Speaker 1: on the line and you're getting scrutinized very heavily at
- 26:22Speaker 1: those jobs. It's not, of course, nothing compares to actually
- 26:29Speaker 1: being a head coach, but being a coordinator at a
- 26:32Speaker 1: high state job does mean something.
- 26:33Speaker 4: But again, that's it.
- 26:34Speaker 1: That is a con, being a first-time head coach. How
- 26:38Speaker 1: much is the defense really him? He is a DC,
- 26:41Speaker 1: but how much of that defense is really him? We
- 26:43Speaker 1: all know Kirby Smart is a defensive savant. Going back
- 26:46Speaker 1: to his Bama days, hell of a coordinator, even at Georgia.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Early on, he was kind of co-coordinated at a certain
- 26:53Speaker 1: point in time, too. You also had Mel Tucker, who
- 26:56Speaker 1: was defensive coordinator prior at Georgia. Dan Lanning, Will Muschamp,
- 27:01Speaker 1: all coordinators as well. And now you have Glenn Schumann
- 27:04Speaker 1: taking over as the main play caller. Tucker went to
- 27:07Speaker 1: be a head coach at Michigan State. Dan Lanning, of course,
- 27:09Speaker 1: he went to be the head coach at Oregon. Muschamp
- 27:12Speaker 1: is now the defensive coordinator at the University of Texas.
- 27:16Speaker 1: The defensive rankings... They have taken a dip under Len Shulman.
- 27:21Speaker 1: They have dipped to the mid-20s, if I'm not mistaken,
- 27:24Speaker 1: versus being a consensus top 10 under those defensive quarters
- 27:27Speaker 1: and that type of deal, with recruiting pretty much staying
- 27:30Speaker 1: the same. Now, the recruiting prowess of Georgia hasn't dipped off.
- 27:36Speaker 1: They're still bringing in top 5, top 10 classes, still
- 27:39Speaker 1: prioritizing the trenches, elite linebacks, that type of deal. Recruiting elite,
- 27:45Speaker 1: I guess you could say probably Ohio State may be
- 27:47Speaker 1: That's a conversation of who's recruited the defense better over
- 27:50Speaker 1: the years. So I say that to say that your
- 27:53Speaker 1: defense hasn't fallen off from a recruiting standpoint, but your
- 27:58Speaker 1: rankings have fallen off. Those guys are pretty much a
- 28:00Speaker 1: lock in the top 10 to be in the mid-20s. Now,
- 28:02Speaker 1: that isn't bad with today's offenses. It's just something to
- 28:05Speaker 1: point out that the defensive production has dropped under Glenn
- 28:09Speaker 1: Shulman when they're recruiting under Curry Smart on the defensive
- 28:13Speaker 1: side of the ball. Hasn't dropped off at all. They're
- 28:16Speaker 1: still getting whoever they want out of the portal. Not
- 28:17Speaker 1: the portal, but the portal too, I guess, but from
- 28:19Speaker 1: the high school ranks. So that's something to note as well. But, again,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I do think Glenn will possibly be a good fit
- 28:25Speaker 1: for FSU. Those are some of the pros and cons
- 28:29Speaker 1: on Glenn.
- 28:30Speaker 4: All right, let's go to the next coach. The next
- 28:36Speaker 4: coach that's been discussed that I like a lot too,
- 28:38Speaker 4: Jake Dickard. Second-year head coach at Wake Forest. Those guys
- 28:42Speaker 4: are currently 7-1 and nationally ranked. If you guys remember,
- 28:46Speaker 4: last year, his first year at Wake Forest, they went 9-4.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Really impressive team out the gate.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Went 9-4 after they went 4-8 the previous two years
- 28:54Speaker 1: before Jake got to Wake Forest.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Offense looks really good, really good.
- 28:59Speaker 1: His last year, prior to being named the Wake Forest
- 29:03Speaker 1: head coach, he was a Washington State head coach. He
- 29:05Speaker 1: went 8-4 over at Washington State during his last year
- 29:08Speaker 1: before coming over to the ACC in Wake Forest. Even then,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I was kind of questioning, you know, why would you leave?
- 29:13Speaker 1: Washington State to go to Wake Forest. But, of course,
- 29:15Speaker 1: there's still the Pac-12 being dissolved and Wake Forest still
- 29:20Speaker 1: being an ACC foe, an ACC opponent. Well, ACC team, rather.
- 29:26Speaker 1: It makes more sense to be in the BP4 versus
- 29:29Speaker 1: the G5 ranks. So that makes sense. And he's done
- 29:31Speaker 1: a hell of a job there, right? He knows the
- 29:34Speaker 1: quarterback position. He knows the quarterback position. You guys know
- 29:38Speaker 1: Ken Ward, right?
- 29:38Speaker 4: Number one draft pick, Miami Hurricane.
- 29:43Speaker 1: The quarterback that really kind of got Miami moving in
- 29:46Speaker 1: the fourth direction in the trajectory that we see now.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Ken Ward, yeah. He was at Washington State. Jake Dickard
- 29:54Speaker 1: coached him at Washington State before he ended the transfer
- 29:56Speaker 1: portal to go to Miami. Gio Lopez right now. Gio
- 30:02Speaker 1: Lopez right now. One of the better quarterbacks in the ACC.
- 30:06Speaker 1: One of the better quarterbacks in the ACC. So, again,
- 30:10Speaker 1: he knows the quarterback position. He recruits locally. He recruits
- 30:16Speaker 1: the Tallahassee area. He recruits the South Georgia area. He
- 30:20Speaker 1: recruits right here in town. Right here in town. Wake
- 30:24Speaker 1: Forest has a true freshman, and you guys may have
- 30:27Speaker 1: heard his name before because he was a a popular
- 30:29Speaker 1: name last year, especially with the year he had, Deuce
- 30:32Speaker 1: Lawrence from Tallahassee. He's from Tallahassee. From Tallahassee. Played high
- 30:36Speaker 1: school ball up in Thomasville. Tore the high school ranks
- 30:39Speaker 1: up last year at GA. Won the state championship up
- 30:41Speaker 1: in Thomasville in a very competitive division. Ran for over
- 30:44Speaker 1: 2K yards, if I'm not mistaken, in Thomasville. Just killed
- 30:48Speaker 1: the playoffs. Remember the state championship game? He was a
- 30:50Speaker 1: little bit talk of the town. A lot of FSU
- 30:52Speaker 1: fans were pissed because we didn't go after this kid.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I was like, what the hell are we doing, right?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Why are we not Recruiting this kid. He was very
- 31:01Speaker 1: elite in high school and within a division in Georgia
- 31:05Speaker 1: that's very damn tough. You guys know, man, Thomas County
- 31:08Speaker 1: played some good damn ball. Real good ball. One of
- 31:10Speaker 1: the better.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Thomas County, what?
- 31:14Speaker 1: They were probably the best team in Georgia, period, last year,
- 31:17Speaker 1: regardless of classification. So, long story short, kid is tearing
- 31:21Speaker 1: it up in high school. The only P5 offer he had,
- 31:25Speaker 1: or P4 offer he gets, is Wake Forest. And I
- 31:28Speaker 1: said it back then, too. Watch this kid go to
- 31:29Speaker 1: Wake Forest. He tears it up. He's going to be
- 31:31Speaker 1: a thorn in our side for years to come in
- 31:33Speaker 1: the ACC. Whenever we play those guys, of course, we
- 31:36Speaker 1: haven't played them this year. We're not playing them this year.
- 31:39Speaker 1: But he goes to Wake Forest now. He's currently their
- 31:42Speaker 1: second leading rusher as a true freshman. He has a
- 31:45Speaker 1: chance to really be their leading rusher in the season.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I think he's a second leading rusher off like 50
- 31:51Speaker 1: or so, 60 or so yards from being the number
- 31:53Speaker 1: one rusher. So he's firmly in the mix of the
- 31:56Speaker 1: running back rotation as a true freshman with Wake Forest.
- 32:00Speaker 4: So he recruits the aerial. A kid from Tallahassee, true freshman.
- 32:05Speaker 4: You hear that a lot, right?
- 32:06Speaker 1: Kid from Tallahassee going elsewhere and playing ball and doing
- 32:11Speaker 1: good for other programs aside from Florida State. I am
- 32:14Speaker 1: sick of that shit. Like, I am so sick and
- 32:16Speaker 1: tired of that, man. As a Tallahassee guy, I know
- 32:19Speaker 1: the talent we have in the A5-0, and I know
- 32:22Speaker 1: a lot of these kids will love to stay home
- 32:24Speaker 1: and play for the hometown team But at the same
- 32:26Speaker 1: damn time, you've got to show them their priority. You've
- 32:28Speaker 1: got to recruit them, this, that, and the third. So
- 32:30Speaker 1: you've got a kid like this who absolutely should be
- 32:33Speaker 1: in Tallahassee playing right now. But he's up their way
- 32:37Speaker 1: for us, ACC opponent. They could terrorize us for years
- 32:40Speaker 1: to come whenever on the schedule. So you bring Jake
- 32:43Speaker 1: to Tallahassee, you possibly bring that kid back home. But, again,
- 32:47Speaker 1: he knows the area. That just shows he knows the area,
- 32:51Speaker 1: knows talent, knows where to go for talent. He knows
- 32:58Speaker 1: how to maximize his resources. He knows how to maximize
- 33:02Speaker 1: his resources. You guys know Wake Forest has one of
- 33:05Speaker 1: the smallest NIL budgets in the ACC. I believe them
- 33:09Speaker 1: and Duke are under $ 20 million, if I'm not mistaken.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Under $ 15 million. I don't want to misquote. I think
- 33:15Speaker 1: they're under $ 15 million. I saw an article or some shit.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I think they're under $ 15 million when it comes to
- 33:20Speaker 1: NIL budgets. He knows how to maximize that. He recently
- 33:28Speaker 1: came out and made a statement talking about we're not
- 33:29Speaker 1: going to complain about the NIL budget.
- 33:32Speaker 4: What we have is what we have, and we want
- 33:33Speaker 4: to maximize what we have.
- 33:35Speaker 1: We're not going to use that as an excuse as
- 33:37Speaker 1: to why we're losing games because of the NIL budget.
- 33:40Speaker 1: And these motherfuckers are 7-1 right now. He's absolutely right.
- 33:43Speaker 1: That's not an excuse, especially in the ACC. And that's
- 33:46Speaker 1: the whole Norville situation that I just can't wrap my
- 33:52Speaker 1: hands around as far as The NIL budget, I think, oh,
- 33:56Speaker 1: we need to pour more money into NIL. We're at, what,
- 33:59Speaker 1: I think FSU is 20, 25, whatever the number that
- 34:02Speaker 1: FSU is at. It was like middle of the pack
- 34:04Speaker 1: ACC or like top five or six in the ACC,
- 34:07Speaker 1: whatever it may be. We need to invest more from
- 34:11Speaker 1: NIL standpoint. We can't compete with this landscape.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yes, that's true.
- 34:15Speaker 1: You can't compete with certain teams. You can't compete with
- 34:18Speaker 1: Ohio State. You're not competing with Miami. You're not competing
- 34:21Speaker 1: with LSU or the world, those type of teams, right?
- 34:25Speaker 1: That's known.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I get it.
- 34:26Speaker 4: I understand that. But wait for us?
- 34:31Speaker 1: Duke?
- 34:35Speaker 2: Louisville?
- 34:41Speaker 4: The teams we've been losing to don't have bigger NIL
- 34:45Speaker 4: budgets than us.
- 34:46Speaker 1: They really don't. Mike, if you're in the ACC, it's
- 34:49Speaker 1: only a few teams. Only Clemson, well, not even Clemson,
- 34:52Speaker 1: only Miami from an NIL standpoint should be dominating you guys, right?
- 34:55Speaker 1: But again, that's another conversation for a different day that's
- 34:58Speaker 1: going back to the Mike Norvell situation. But Dickard understands, like, hey, man,
- 35:03Speaker 1: we don't have a lot of fucking money. I know
- 35:05Speaker 1: how to damn allocate that money and put that money
- 35:07Speaker 1: in the right spots and coach and develop these guys
- 35:09Speaker 1: to get the best out of them. We're going to
- 35:11Speaker 1: get the best out of our $ 13 million. We look
- 35:14Speaker 1: like a $ 13 million roster. We keep that shit clean, though.
- 35:18Speaker 4: We keep it clean. We wash the car. We do
- 35:20Speaker 4: all that type of deal. We keep it clean.
- 35:21Speaker 1: It may not be the most expensive car, but everything
- 35:25Speaker 1: up under the hood runs perfectly. Everything on the outside
- 35:28Speaker 1: is clean. Everything on the inside is clean, which I respect. Now,
- 35:31Speaker 1: you give him the FSU budget to work with, and
- 35:37Speaker 1: that budget should be a lot bigger as well moving forward.
- 35:44Speaker 4: All right, so let's talk about some cons, some possible
- 35:46Speaker 4: cons with him.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Not a Southern guy doesn't know how to recruit the area,
- 35:51Speaker 1: quote unquote, which I think is the most overrated notion
- 35:54Speaker 1: there is. I mean, he got the kid from Tallahassee,
- 36:00Speaker 1: played in Thomasville, got him. I mean, if you focus
- 36:03Speaker 1: within his area, I think he can kind of do
- 36:05Speaker 1: the same if he was actually here. I just think
- 36:07Speaker 1: that's one of the most overrated notions there is. As
- 36:10Speaker 1: long as you can coach fucking football and you know
- 36:16Speaker 1: And you're smart enough rather to hire guys who must
- 36:18Speaker 1: have to have all those connections. You do that, you'll
- 36:20Speaker 1: be fine. Damn, I ain't got connections in South Florida. Damn,
- 36:27Speaker 1: I ain't got connections in Georgia. Some of the best
- 36:30Speaker 1: talent in the country is within those areas. Damn, I'm
- 36:33Speaker 1: in Florida State now. That's my backyard. Let me go
- 36:37Speaker 1: hire some people that know Miami, that know Broward, that
- 36:40Speaker 1: know Palm Beach. They got relationships up in South Georgia,
- 36:44Speaker 1: the rural area, whatever it may be. Let me hire
- 36:46Speaker 1: guys that know the area. That's all you got to do.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Hire a staff that knows these guys, and you'll be fine.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Whoever has the connections, you'll be fine. Nick Saban had
- 36:56Speaker 1: no ties to the South before coming to LSU. Michigan State,
- 37:00Speaker 1: he's a Midwest guy. Midwest guy, no ties to the South.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Come down to LSU, he understood what he needed, though,
- 37:07Speaker 1: and understood where he was at. And once you get there,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you hire the right guys. Once you hire the right guys,
- 37:12Speaker 1: You build those relationships on your own over time. And shit,
- 37:15Speaker 1: after that, Nick Saban was goaded down here. Go to LSU,
- 37:19Speaker 1: go to Bama. Relationships everywhere. So you don't technically have
- 37:25Speaker 1: to have a guy with recruiting ties to the South.
- 37:28Speaker 1: You just got to have a guy that's smart enough
- 37:29Speaker 1: to know what the fuck the talent is. Long story short,
- 37:34Speaker 1: find a guy that is smart enough to know what
- 37:37Speaker 1: a talent is and hire guys that can go get
- 37:39Speaker 1: that talent in that area.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Simple as that.
- 37:47Speaker 1: So that's pretty much Jake Dickerson. There's not really too
- 37:49Speaker 1: many cons, in my opinion, aside from, you know, you're
- 37:52Speaker 1: going from Washington State to Wake Forest, and there's a
- 37:54Speaker 1: lot more pressure. There's not a lot of pressure at
- 37:55Speaker 1: Wake Forest and Washington State versus coming to Florida State,
- 37:58Speaker 1: where there's 70,000, you know, packed stadium every night, you know,
- 38:03Speaker 1: national TV games, primetime matches, whatever it may be. But again,
- 38:07Speaker 1: if you have the roster for it and you have
- 38:09Speaker 1: the resources for it, I think you'll be fine. Guys,
- 38:13Speaker 1: we'll move on to the next coach. But again, make
- 38:15Speaker 1: sure you guys hit that like button if you haven't already.
- 38:17Speaker 1: We got about 175 in here hanging. Appreciate you guys.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Hit that like button and let's go. And subscribe to
- 38:25Speaker 1: the channel. And if you guys know how to get
- 38:27Speaker 1: in my spirit, if you guys have any Super Chat
- 38:29Speaker 1: questions or whatever, a question that you need answered right now,
- 38:31Speaker 1: go ahead and hit that Super Chat. We'll pause everything
- 38:34Speaker 1: we're doing to answer your questions. All right, next name,
- 38:40Speaker 1: Manny Diaz. Talk about Manny Diaz a little bit. This
- 38:43Speaker 1: is an interesting one. You guys know I like Manny.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I think he should definitely be a candidate for the
- 38:50Speaker 1: position 100%. I'm not saying you give the job to Manny,
- 38:53Speaker 1: but he should 100% be in the running. Talk about
- 38:56Speaker 1: Manny a little bit. 21-15 at Miami during his time
- 38:59Speaker 1: in Miami. First-time head coach. 23-11 currently at Duke. 23-11
- 39:02Speaker 1: thus far at Duke. He's currently 5-2 at Duke. ACC champion.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Knows Florida. Recruit the area pretty damn well, in my opinion.
- 39:16Speaker 1: He's a Florida State alum. Understands the quarterback port of recruiting, right?
- 39:22Speaker 1: Understands the quarterback port of recruiting. What I say about that,
- 39:25Speaker 1: what I mean by that, rather, if you guys follow.
- 39:30Speaker 1: FSU from a Twitter standpoint, well, follow FSU from a
- 39:32Speaker 1: Twitter standpoint, you're kind of entrenched in the big three.
- 39:35Speaker 1: You know about all these coaches, right? And how they
- 39:39Speaker 1: do or how they're doing, rather, due to the big
- 39:41Speaker 1: three ties. So if you guys remember, we called Manny
- 39:47Speaker 1: the portal king way before Mike. Melanie Diaz was literally
- 39:50Speaker 1: the first P5 coach, if I'm not mistaken, to kind
- 39:53Speaker 1: of dabble in the portal to that degree. He ended
- 39:55Speaker 1: up getting De'Aaron King from Houston transferred over to Miami.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Ended up going like 8-3 or 9-3 or something like
- 40:03Speaker 1: that during his second year during that time when he
- 40:05Speaker 1: had De'Aaron King. I think Jalen Hurts also took a
- 40:09Speaker 1: visit to Miami before and let him go to Oklahoma
- 40:12Speaker 1: with Lincoln Riley. So he knows how to recruit the
- 40:16Speaker 1: transfer portal from a quarterback standpoint. standpoint. Murray, I forget
- 40:22Speaker 1: the guy's first name, but it was the Texas quarterback
- 40:24Speaker 1: Manny's first year at Duke. Texas quarterback Murray entered the
- 40:27Speaker 1: transfer portal. Duke and Manny went and prioritized him and
- 40:31Speaker 1: brought him over to Duke from Texas. That really didn't
- 40:37Speaker 1: work out. What does he do the next year? He
- 40:39Speaker 1: goes and gets Mensah, probably the best quarterback in the portal.
- 40:43Speaker 1: He brings him to Duke. And we all know how
- 40:46Speaker 1: that story ended. Mensah was one of the better quarterbacks
- 40:48Speaker 1: in the ACC last year, leading Duke to their first
- 40:51Speaker 1: ACC championship, winning nine games in back-to-back years for Manny. Then,
- 40:55Speaker 1: of course, the last day of the transfer portal, and
- 40:58Speaker 1: I hate this shit for Manny. I just hate it
- 41:00Speaker 1: for college football in general, but the game is the game.
- 41:03Speaker 1: The very last day of the transfer portal, after announcing
- 41:05Speaker 1: previously that he was returning to Duke, he ended the
- 41:08Speaker 1: portal and transfers to Miami in the wee hours of
- 41:10Speaker 1: the portal, right? Not giving Manny enough time to kind
- 41:13Speaker 1: of pivot and move forward From that and, you know,
- 41:17Speaker 1: they also lost their best receiver as well, too.
- 41:19Speaker 4: He's at Miami.
- 41:20Speaker 1: So you lose arguably the best quarterback in the ACC
- 41:24Speaker 1: or the best quarterback in the ACC, in my opinion,
- 41:26Speaker 1: one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He lose
- 41:28Speaker 1: one of the better receivers in the ACC as well
- 41:30Speaker 1: on the last day of the transfer quarter. That's fine.
- 41:33Speaker 1: What does Manny Diaz do? He pivoted that to currently
- 41:36Speaker 1: five and two now. The man wins ball games in
- 41:39Speaker 1: the ACC, bro.
- 41:40Speaker 4: We're talking about Duke.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Duke.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Duke.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Like, Duke has been the punching bag of the ACC
- 41:46Speaker 1: for as long as I can fucking remember, man.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Like, Mike Elko did a pretty good job. Don't get
- 41:51Speaker 4: it twisted.
- 41:51Speaker 1: But I think Manny has took that to another damn level. Like,
- 41:54Speaker 1: it's Duke. Understands defenses. Understands how to recruit defensive backs
- 42:01Speaker 1: and just that type of deal. One of our– Makai Jones.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Is it Makai Jones?
- 42:05Speaker 2: Makai.
- 42:07Speaker 4: Hold on. What's the safety we got from Duke, the guy.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Something about starts with a D. Doesn't his last name
- 42:13Speaker 3: start with a D? I don't know. I know it's
- 42:15Speaker 3: Makai something.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Makai?
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not Jones. What the hell number is he, man?
- 42:20Speaker 1: That's how terrible this FSU team is being this year.
- 42:23Speaker 1: One second, guys. Put him in the roster to get
- 42:28Speaker 1: his name correctly. My apologies to Makai for not having
- 42:38Speaker 1: his name correctly. Correct.
- 42:42Speaker 3: It's Mekhi Jones.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Mekhi Jones.
- 42:43Speaker 4: I was right.
- 42:44Speaker 1: So, yeah, we have Mekhi Jones, who was a true
- 42:46Speaker 1: freshman for Duke, started as a true freshman for Duke.
- 42:49Speaker 1: In the transfer quarter, we ended up snatching him from Duke,
- 42:52Speaker 1: and he started for us. Now, do I think we
- 42:54Speaker 1: could have gotten better than Mekhi Jones? Absolutely. I do
- 42:57Speaker 1: think that. He had some limitations for sure. But the
- 43:02Speaker 1: dude was playing a good ball at Duke and was
- 43:04Speaker 1: starting as a true freshman, and we felt like he
- 43:05Speaker 1: was going to have to play for Florida State. So
- 43:08Speaker 1: you get Manny Arpolo. I think he can do pretty well.
- 43:12Speaker 1: So the cons. He was fired at Miami. Fired at
- 43:15Speaker 1: Miami as a first-time head coach. And I know as
- 43:17Speaker 1: FSU fans, that's your biggest gripe. Oh, why do we
- 43:20Speaker 1: want a damn reject from our rivals? Context matters. That's
- 43:26Speaker 1: that bullshit big three thinking. Fuck that. Think bigger picture.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Context matters. He was a first-time head coach. First-time head coach.
- 43:36Speaker 1: First-time head coach at the University of Miami. He went
- 43:39Speaker 1: 21-15 at the University of Miami. Miami did not invest
- 43:44Speaker 1: in Manny Diaz at all.
- 43:46Speaker 2: At all.
- 43:48Speaker 1: At all. He had no resources at Miami. As a
- 43:52Speaker 1: matter of fact, Mario Cristobal wouldn't accept the Miami position
- 43:56Speaker 1: without certain assurances as far as investing in the program.
- 43:59Speaker 1: So once Mario signed, everything was butter as far as
- 44:02Speaker 1: the investment within the program. Manny wasn't afforded that investment.
- 44:08Speaker 1: 21-15 as a first-time head coach. He wasn't even supposed
- 44:10Speaker 1: to be the Miami head coach at that point in time.
- 44:12Speaker 1: He agreed to be the Temple head coach and should
- 44:16Speaker 1: have took that job to get your G5 training wheels
- 44:18Speaker 1: as your first-time head coaching job. But Mark Rick retired
- 44:22Speaker 1: from Miami abruptly, causing Miami to double back and panic.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I guess you could say panic and make the easy
- 44:28Speaker 1: hire in calling Manny Diaz back from Temple because he
- 44:31Speaker 1: actually agreed to that job. So you go to Miami
- 44:35Speaker 1: as your first-time head coach. You fail there at 21-15.
- 44:38Speaker 1: You get fired. You go to Penn State as a
- 44:40Speaker 1: defensive coordinator under James Franklin, very respected coach, and put
- 44:45Speaker 1: up elite defenses at Penn State. You leave Penn State
- 44:48Speaker 1: after learning from a real good head coach, learn from
- 44:50Speaker 1: your mistakes at Miami. You transition that and you you
- 44:56Speaker 1: transition that and you.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Bad kids.
- 45:05Speaker 4: You transition that and then you Go to Duke, right?
- 45:09Speaker 4: He's been winning ever since then, Duke. Man, the dude
- 45:13Speaker 4: is 23-11 at Duke.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Like, bro. Over these last few years, I'll take 23-11
- 45:20Speaker 1: at Florida State. What we've been having with Mike Norvell,
- 45:25Speaker 1: this man is 23-11 at Duke with an ACC championship
- 45:27Speaker 1: at Duke. So, again, I do think there's value in
- 45:31Speaker 1: failure when you learn from your mistakes. And I do
- 45:33Speaker 1: think many DSs learn from their mistakes at Miami as
- 45:36Speaker 1: a first-time head coach. He's still young. He's still prime,
- 45:40Speaker 1: like I said, Florida State alum. So I think Manny
- 45:42Speaker 1: should be a solid candidate. I don't think Florida State
- 45:44Speaker 1: fans should dismiss Manny as a candidate just because of
- 45:50Speaker 1: his failures at Miami. Everything has context, in my opinion. Well,
- 45:54Speaker 1: that one specifically has context. All right, guys, let's move
- 46:01Speaker 1: on to Deion Sanders.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Deion Sanders, popular name, right?
- 46:07Speaker 1: I know Colorado fans, well, I ain't going to say
- 46:09Speaker 1: Colorado fans, the primetime bandwagoners that we've been seeing on Twitter,
- 46:12Speaker 1: the cult of primetime bandwagoners, they've been kind of pushing
- 46:15Speaker 1: for this.
- 46:17Speaker 4: It's kind of like LeBron, man. That shit reminds me
- 46:19Speaker 4: of LeBron fan base.
- 46:20Speaker 1: They're just trying to transition to their next damn team
- 46:23Speaker 1: to try to infiltrate in that type of deal and
- 46:27Speaker 1: be leeches. And that's what's happening with the primetime fans.
- 46:33Speaker 4: Crazies over at Colorado.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Hey, they're looking at Florida State and trying to make
- 46:37Speaker 1: that push.
- 46:38Speaker 4: So let's talk about it a little bit. It would
- 46:39Speaker 4: be a marketing dream, right?
- 46:41Speaker 1: I think he would be able to attract top Florida
- 46:43Speaker 1: guys to come to FSU just off the strength. He
- 46:46Speaker 1: says all the time he is hard to find. In
- 46:49Speaker 1: the FSU, he really wouldn't be hard to find at all. Like,
- 46:52Speaker 1: it would be that easy. And that's part of the
- 46:53Speaker 1: reason why I wanted him to take The South Florida
- 46:57Speaker 1: job instead of the Colorado job way back then because
- 47:00Speaker 1: I feel like it would have been easier for that
- 47:01Speaker 1: G5 level to come in and dominate South Florida and
- 47:04Speaker 1: be in contention for the college football playoffs.
- 47:06Speaker 4: You're in Florida. You're in Tampa.
- 47:09Speaker 1: A few hours from his hometown of Fort Myers, you're
- 47:13Speaker 1: going to instantly, just like he did to Colorado, you're
- 47:15Speaker 1: going to instantly bring economic growth to the area. Colorado's
- 47:20Speaker 1: attendance was down. You hire a prime. They were still
- 47:23Speaker 1: not games. The exact same thing would have happened at
- 47:25Speaker 1: South Florida.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Those are the pros.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Not a lot, really.
- 47:58Speaker 4: Cons.
- 47:59Speaker 1: How serious are you as a head coach? This shit
- 48:05Speaker 1: takes work. How serious are you as a head coach?
- 48:07Speaker 1: It truly takes work. College football coaches, that shit is
- 48:10Speaker 1: a grind. How serious are you? You have the whole
- 48:13Speaker 1: notion that he doesn't do visits. He doesn't go on campus.
- 48:17Speaker 1: He doesn't go into the houses and that type of deal.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Really, bro?
- 48:22Speaker 1: And I got flack from the Colorado Colts fans on
- 48:25Speaker 1: this because I feel that's lazy. That's a lazy recruiting tactic,
- 48:29Speaker 1: in my opinion, to not do in-home visits. The greatest
- 48:34Speaker 1: coach of all time, Nick Saban, did in-home visits. In-home
- 48:39Speaker 1: visits and he recruited high school. Kirby Smart does in-home
- 48:42Speaker 1: visits and visits high schools. Ryan Day does in-home visits.
- 48:47Speaker 1: He visits kids. Mario Cristobal, he visits these kids. Bobby Bowden,
- 48:54Speaker 1: the head coach that you play for, that you love
- 48:57Speaker 1: so much, that you hold in such a high regard,
- 49:01Speaker 1: one of the best head coaches of all time, prioritized visits,
- 49:07Speaker 1: in-home visits. You talk about Mickey Andrews coming to your
- 49:10Speaker 1: basketball game to see you playing. As a recruit, you
- 49:14Speaker 1: have highlighted that. You have spoken about that. Hell no!
- 49:19Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 49:21Speaker 1: If those guys can do it, why can't you do it?
- 49:25Speaker 1: You aren't bigger than the program as a head coach,
- 49:27Speaker 1: but I'm sorry. And I think you may think that because, granted,
- 49:30Speaker 1: you're still prime time. Huge personality. One of the most
- 49:34Speaker 1: personable athletes you will, colorful athletes you will ever see.
- 49:39Speaker 1: He's just a walking– he's just walking– I don't know
- 49:43Speaker 1: the word used. He's just so damn marketable where he's
- 49:46Speaker 1: just a walking market. I don't know the damn word used, man.
- 49:48Speaker 1: But whatever that is, he's that guy. I get that.
- 49:53Speaker 4: But, bro, this is football, man.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Like, you want the biggest fish in the pond to
- 49:59Speaker 1: come to this. These players matter more. These players come first,
- 50:02Speaker 1: not you as a head coach, not you, your ego,
- 50:05Speaker 1: to say I'm not hard to find.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Like, come see me at Colorado?
- 50:09Speaker 3: No.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Bro, these kids just aren't coming just because at a
- 50:15Speaker 1: certain time it could have been dead. And it was
- 50:17Speaker 1: in the beginning just because of your name. They could
- 50:19Speaker 1: try to come at that. But once you start actually
- 50:21Speaker 1: playing on the field and putting out subpar performances, product,
- 50:28Speaker 1: you're not putting in the resources to actually recruit me.
- 50:30Speaker 1: These kids want to be, they're divas. Simple as that.
- 50:33Speaker 1: They want to be courted. They want to feel the love.
- 50:36Speaker 1: They want to feel that. They want that. You have
- 50:38Speaker 1: to You have to press them. You have to do
- 50:42Speaker 1: all of that. You have to do all that. That's
- 50:50Speaker 1: one of the reasons. I just can't get behind that.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Their recruiting rankings have struggled due to that. They haven't
- 50:59Speaker 1: recruited well at all. Yeah, you get you a splash
- 51:02Speaker 1: player every now and then. You get the offensive tackle.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Of course, Travis on that type of deal, but Getting
- 51:08Speaker 1: one of those players every few cycles isn't enough to
- 51:11Speaker 1: win at Colorado. And it's damn sure it isn't enough
- 51:14Speaker 1: to win at the high level that Florida State demands, right?
- 51:18Speaker 1: So he also mentioned that if he went to one
- 51:21Speaker 1: high school, he would have to go to all the
- 51:23Speaker 1: high schools in the area.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Deion, my brother. That's the point. That is the point.
- 51:33Speaker 4: You build those relationships.
- 51:35Speaker 1: You never know what those schools' coaches will have from
- 51:38Speaker 1: a talent standpoint in the future. They may not have
- 51:41Speaker 1: the kid you want right now, but in two years,
- 51:44Speaker 1: they could have that guy. But you didn't build those
- 51:47Speaker 1: relationships in the beginning when you first got the job
- 51:49Speaker 1: with those coaches. You're behind the eight ball with that guy.
- 51:53Speaker 1: So you have to build those relationships within the areas
- 51:55Speaker 1: within those schools. You've got to hit every damn school
- 51:57Speaker 1: within the area because you never know what those guys
- 52:00Speaker 1: will have. Recruiting is all about relationships, man. It's all
- 52:03Speaker 1: about relationships. You have to build those relationships, in my opinion.
- 52:09Speaker 1: You never know what those schools' coaches will have from
- 52:11Speaker 1: a talent standpoint in the future. That's why you have
- 52:13Speaker 1: to keep going by that.
- 52:14Speaker 4: And let's be frank, man. The CU experience has been
- 52:16Speaker 4: a disaster.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it.
- 52:18Speaker 4: They were really bad prior to prime getting there.
- 52:21Speaker 1: But outside of hitting lightning in the bottle, we're flipping
- 52:23Speaker 1: Trav from Florida State, and Coach, your son's been real lackluster.
- 52:27Speaker 1: I also didn't like how he handled the benching of
- 52:30Speaker 1: his quarterback, Lewis, The kid that was supposed to be
- 52:33Speaker 1: next in line behind Shador Sanders as, quote unquote, the
- 52:37Speaker 1: highly recruited quarterback and that type of deal. There's some
- 52:42Speaker 1: long lines of not actually talking to him and talking
- 52:45Speaker 1: about the benching and that type of deal. I feel
- 52:48Speaker 1: like that's a bad look, in my opinion, from Prem.
- 52:50Speaker 1: You still have to develop mentally, right? You still have
- 52:54Speaker 1: to cultivate that kid. You still have to speak life
- 52:56Speaker 1: in him. He's young. He's young. You don't want to
- 52:58Speaker 1: throw him to the side. You're not ready now, but
- 53:00Speaker 1: we still believe in you. We still want to develop
- 53:02Speaker 1: you just in the third. You've got to have that conversation,
- 53:04Speaker 1: especially when you're bitching one quarterback to another. I feel
- 53:06Speaker 1: like him saying that he didn't have a conversation with
- 53:08Speaker 1: the quarterback was a little bit crazy. But again, those
- 53:10Speaker 1: are the pros and cons with Deion. I would not
- 53:12Speaker 1: be a fan of actually hiring him to Florida State. Again,
- 53:16Speaker 1: recruiting is the lifeblood of your program, and that shit
- 53:18Speaker 1: does a lot of work. I do think him saying
- 53:20Speaker 1: I'm not hard to find at Florida State versus Colorado
- 53:23Speaker 1: is a big difference. I don't think it's a big
- 53:25Speaker 1: enough difference to actually put FSU– in the category they
- 53:29Speaker 1: need to be at as far as winning these recruits
- 53:30Speaker 1: and then ultimately winning games on the field based upon
- 53:34Speaker 1: those recruiting wins. All right, let's go to my last
- 53:40Speaker 1: head coaching name we're going to discuss, and that's Eli Drinkwits.
- 53:42Speaker 1: This is a name that's kind of popped up recently
- 53:46Speaker 1: since the head coaching job was announced. And again, I
- 53:49Speaker 1: do think there's interest from Eli and his camp. I
- 53:53Speaker 1: think he's kind of putting fillers out there and talking
- 53:55Speaker 1: to certain people and things like that. And that goes
- 53:57Speaker 1: to show you, man, like, don't ever get this shit confused, man.
- 54:01Speaker 1: The logo is the logo. The logo is the logo.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Florida State is still the premier job in the country. Yes,
- 54:07Speaker 1: we have been terrible in the last few years, but
- 54:09Speaker 1: you bring it in. And if you look at Doe
- 54:10Speaker 1: Camel Stadium these last few years, this shit has been packed.
- 54:14Speaker 1: This Clemson game this past weekend, it was packed. Until
- 54:17Speaker 1: Clemson started putting on our ass and that type of deal,
- 54:19Speaker 1: that's when people started leaving the game. But you have
- 54:21Speaker 1: a fan base that's hungry, a fan base that's committed.
- 54:25Speaker 1: You have resources. Everything that Jim O'Fisher went away back then,
- 54:29Speaker 1: you have now. You're in a recruiting program, the Florida
- 54:35Speaker 1: State Premier Program, you're in the ACC.
- 54:37Speaker 4: So it's a lot of, I say all that to
- 54:40Speaker 4: say this, it's value within the logo.
- 54:43Speaker 1: People still look at this as a premier job and
- 54:45Speaker 1: Drinkwich kind of throwing his name in the hat kind
- 54:49Speaker 1: of proves that. But he's the Missouri head coach. He's
- 54:51Speaker 1: 51 and 31 at Missouri in seven years. Currently five
- 54:55Speaker 1: and two with the Tigers. ranked number 20th in the country,
- 54:59Speaker 1: has Mizzou as a formidable team in ACC. Never had
- 55:03Speaker 1: a losing season as a head coach prior to coming
- 55:05Speaker 1: over to Missouri. His first year as a head coach
- 55:09Speaker 1: was at App State, went 12-1 there. He was out.
- 55:12Speaker 1: He was the next head coach at Missouri. Pretty good
- 55:15Speaker 1: recruiter from Missouri standpoints. Was able to get five-star Luke DeBurton,
- 55:19Speaker 1: a local kid from Missouri. Not saying local, but he's
- 55:21Speaker 1: from the state of Missouri. Was able to keep him on.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Was a big-time playmaker for the Tigers. If you guys remember,
- 55:27Speaker 1: he flipped Javion Hilton, the four-star, four-line, five-star defensive end
- 55:31Speaker 1: from Florida State, flipped him from us. Javion Boggs, our
- 55:36Speaker 1: current receiver, he was committed to Missouri at a certain
- 55:38Speaker 1: point in time as well. You guys know Boggs. He
- 55:40Speaker 1: was all around the high school, Mr. Florida, this, that,
- 55:43Speaker 1: and third. Both of those guys went to Coco, so
- 55:46Speaker 1: he knows how to trap in Florida for sure. He
- 55:48Speaker 1: has an emphasis on a defensive line. Emphasis on a
- 55:51Speaker 1: defensive line. Really good D-line play from Missouri. I'm a
- 55:56Speaker 1: Ravens fan, had Zion Young go second round for Missouri
- 55:59Speaker 1: last year.
- 56:00Speaker 4: That's another topic.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Zion Young was pretty much, he took an official visit
- 56:04Speaker 1: to Florida State. Could have been a layup for us
- 56:07Speaker 1: as well, but he let me go to Mizzou out
- 56:08Speaker 1: of the transfer portal from Michigan State. You know, going
- 56:11Speaker 1: second round from those guys. But I do think he'd
- 56:15Speaker 1: be a solid recruiter. He has a winning record versus
- 56:19Speaker 1: University of Florida as well, too, with a talent discrepancy,
- 56:23Speaker 1: a big talent discrepancy. He's four and three versus the
- 56:25Speaker 1: Gators with pretty much in every matchup having lesser talent
- 56:29Speaker 1: than what Florida would have. I would like to see
- 56:32Speaker 1: what a possible staff would be from, I guess you
- 56:34Speaker 1: could say, a con standpoint. I would like to see
- 56:36Speaker 1: what his possible staff would be. FSU gets a bigger job.
- 56:40Speaker 1: He recruits well for Mizzou, but will he be able
- 56:44Speaker 1: to recruit an elite level that FSU requires? Not exactly sure.
- 56:49Speaker 1: We'll see how that plays out, if he would be
- 56:51Speaker 1: the guy. His staff would be key. He can come
- 56:54Speaker 1: off kind of corny at times, which I don't give
- 56:56Speaker 1: a damn and care less about. That's how you coach.
- 56:58Speaker 1: He doesn't mind talking shit either. He'll throw some shots
- 57:00Speaker 1: in the media to other teams and that type of deal.
- 57:03Speaker 1: It's been a big talking point from people that follow
- 57:07Speaker 1: the SEC or feel like the SEC is overrated that Mizzou, well,
- 57:15Speaker 1: not Mizzou, but his drinks record itself First-ranked teams. Granted,
- 57:20Speaker 1: it's not great. One, it's still Missouri. It's still Missouri.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I mean, you're battling giants in the SEC like Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Texas,
- 57:37Speaker 1: et cetera. So he's still at Missouri.
- 57:42Speaker 3: He always beats Florida's ass.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Exactly. Like, Florida is a team that has more talent
- 57:47Speaker 1: than him. Florida is, quote-unquote, a premier SEC team, too.
- 57:51Speaker 1: And if you look at the recruiting rankings, Florida should
- 57:55Speaker 1: be whooping Missouri ass with a game. He has a
- 57:57Speaker 1: winning record against them, so he punches above his weight.
- 58:00Speaker 1: With that being said, the ACC isn't the SEC. We
- 58:04Speaker 1: know that. He shouldn't have any issues. You got what?
- 58:08Speaker 2: Miami?
- 58:09Speaker 1: Clemson was that type of matchup where they're currently on
- 58:12Speaker 1: a downward swing, in my opinion. Louisville, North Carolina, SMU.
- 58:21Speaker 1: I mean, like, again, it's the ACC. Miami is the
- 58:26Speaker 1: only team that has the comparable talent to the teams
- 58:30Speaker 1: we just discussed in the SEC that he's losing to.
- 58:33Speaker 4: So to say, what's his record?
- 58:34Speaker 1: Again, this is nitpicking bullshit, in my opinion, especially for
- 58:37Speaker 1: a program that's been getting, we're fucking 10-22, man. Whatever
- 58:41Speaker 1: record I say, it might not feel as 10-22 Am
- 58:45Speaker 1: I correct? 10-22 since the 2024 season. 10-22.
- 58:51Speaker 4: So being in the ACC, he shouldn't have any issues
- 58:54Speaker 4: with those games. Like I said, you have Miami. Miami
- 58:56Speaker 4: and Clemson.
- 58:58Speaker 1: And Clemson isn't the same Clemson that we have come
- 59:00Speaker 1: to know over the years.
- 59:02Speaker 4: So I think that's a BS argument.
- 59:05Speaker 1: But again, that could be a possible con because the
- 59:07Speaker 1: record is the record and it's not great against the
- 59:08Speaker 1: rain teams in the SEC. But again, we're talking about
- 59:11Speaker 1: Mizzou against some of the more talented teams in the country,
- 59:15Speaker 1: regardless of conference. You bring that to the ACC. For one,
- 59:21Speaker 1: he'll be able to recruit better players than Missouri. He'd
- 59:27Speaker 1: be able to recruit better players to Missouri. Of course,
- 59:29Speaker 1: there's all staff depending on that type of deal. He'd
- 59:30Speaker 1: be able to recruit better players at Missouri. And for two,
- 59:33Speaker 1: he's playing in a conference that's not as strong as
- 59:35Speaker 1: the SEC. The ACC is very winnable. Again, I encourage
- 59:40Speaker 1: you guys to go look at our schedule for the
- 59:44Speaker 1: 2027 season and tell me how many teams you see as, oh, hey,
- 59:48Speaker 1: we got to bring our A game for this one.
- 59:50Speaker 4: How many teams you see as, damn, that's tough.
- 59:53Speaker 2: There's not many.
- 59:55Speaker 1: So I think Eli Drinkwich would be a solid head coach.
- 59:57Speaker 4: Those are the pros and cons there for him.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Again, I think he would be a solid one and
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: a guy that has a pretty good damn job in
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: the SEC, rather, excuse me, in Missouri. But Florida State
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: is one of those jobs, in my opinion. It's a
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: premier job. That's all we have as far as the
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: coaching candidates, guys that we've been hearing about and that
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: type of thing. I just want to give my take
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: on a few of those guys. Of course, everything is fluid.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: We just fired Mike Norvell yesterday, so this shit could
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: change tomorrow. This is where we're at with it right now.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Make sure you guys hit that like and subscribe button
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: if you haven't already. We're going to kind of open
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: the lines up for the phones and get things going
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: if you guys want to tap in.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: I think we got a call. We got Corey.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Corey, you there?
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Muted.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: Need you on mute, Coy, if you're available.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: The link is also pinned in the comments, guys. So
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: it's right there in the comments section if you want
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: to click it and join.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Again, like Harden said, the link is in the comments section.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Let us guys know if you want to come chime
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: in and get your tips on.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: No, you there, bro.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Talk to me. How you feeling, bro? Hey, man. To me,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: for me, it's Jimbo or Bucks for me.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Personally.
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: I just feel like he know what it look like.
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: He done– been done that, you know what I mean?
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: And as far as the recruiting and everything, you know,
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: I know a lot of people got hesitations talking about
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: his office, but he don't run no office different than
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: anybody else. Just receivers got no coverage, you know, when
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: the sitting's on, when the going man, you know what
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: I mean? They got to be on the same page
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: with the quarterback and everything. You know, I know the
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: game haven't passed them by because I was looking– where
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: he did a little interview with Fullback for Stevenson, man.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: And you can hear the passion.
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: Yeah, you can hear the passion instilling his voice, you know,
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: how he wanted it and how he talked. All that
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: man can talk ball all day long, you know what
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: I mean? And I know the flow, the flow with
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: Jimbo is nine wins. I mean, that's the bottom.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: And you don't really have to worry about it.
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: And thing is, he's.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: A big name. he going to get a quarterback in here.
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: I mean, that's the main thing, you know, you got
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: to really look at with a lot of these programs,
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: the trenches and the quarterback, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: And that's who I am with that. I mean, a
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: lot of these other coordinators and stuff, they improving. And,
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: you know what I mean? A lot of them could
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: have been just doing good because of who the head
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: coach was at that program.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: That's how I feel about it.
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: You know what I mean? And the thing I'm saying with,
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: This thing with Norvell, man, that, you know, it's crazy.
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: When another coach was here, you know, six wins wasn't
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: good enough. But you get this dude in here and
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: then his agent put together a deal to get you
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: out of money, you know, because he had supposedly wanted
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: to go to Alabama. Alabama wanted him. You know, that
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: was the ski load that they tried to push. And
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: you give him all this money. And all of a sudden, 6-6.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: I mean, he go less than 6-6. He go 10-2.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: And it take all this time to get this man
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: up out of Tallahassee. But, I mean, he finally gone.
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: Thing done, the witch is dead.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: So, you know, to me.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: But that's my take on it, man.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: You know, I don't know how you feel about it.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: No, I agree with you 100% on as far as that.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: But I don't want to discount the whole coordinator notion
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: type of deal because you have– A few coordinators in
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: the last cycle that are doing pretty damn good, like Kentucky.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: What's the Kentucky's head coach name? He was the officer coordinator. Stein,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Will Stein. He was the officer coordinator at Oregon, and
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Kentucky is looking damn good. So I do get your
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: point to that degree. But if you can coach, you
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: can coach.
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: Don't you feel like we're at a point where we
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: got to get something proven here, man?
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: We can't mess this high up. I do think we
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: can mess this high up. I do think we're at
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: a critical point in the program.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: With how college football, the landscape is moving. I agree
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: with that a hundred percent.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I do agree with that a hundred percent, but I'm
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: at the point where like, I don't feel like I'm
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: not going to say all candidates are not, are good
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: or all candidates aren't bad candidates, but I just feel
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: like moving on from right now, I'm going to be
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: happy with who the fuck they bring in. Let's be
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: completely honest with you. That's true. I don't have an
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: issue with any of the candidates that I named or
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: any of the candidates that unless it's like prime or something,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I'm really not, I'm not a fan of that. But
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: any of the candidates that I named or any other
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: fan may bring up, I wouldn't toot my nose to
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: it because I've seen coordinators come in and actually make
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: a difference.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: I mean, do you think about the financial aspect, too? Because,
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: you know, this man ain't going to want all that money.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Correct.
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: So Texas A & M is still paying him.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: So that pans into it, too.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: We know we've got to pay Mike Rodell $ 50 million,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: whatever the hell it may be.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: Because whoever you get, they might be on the contract
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: with that other college team.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: You got to buy them out.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Correct.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Then after you buy them out, you got to bring
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: them and another staff over on top of that.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: No, you're right.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: So to your point, like I said, if you bring
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: in an active head coach at another school, you got
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: to buy them out. Well, so you're buying out Mike.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Then you got to buy out Mike's staff. Then you
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: got to buy out this coach. You got to hire
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: him on a new contract. You got to hire his staff.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: So it's a lot of money involved.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: That's a lot of money.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: That's a lot of money.
- 1:05:38Speaker 6: And, you know, I mean, Jimbo told him a long
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: time ago, you know, it was going to come to this.
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: Ain't nobody listen. And, you know, everybody act like an ex-girlfriend.
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: Will you take your ex? Man, that's business, man. You know,
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: that's apples and oranges, man.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: That's my point, too. Apples and oranges. That's business.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: You know, people saying that, you know.
- 1:05:57Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, they offered to pay for that man's
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: son medical bills and all. Like, Texas A & M
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: got money, man.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: And who win at Texas A & M?
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: Don't nobody win, though.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I mean, nothing big.
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: I mean, they ain't won a national championship since World
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: War II.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: I mean, I'm going to let somebody else call in
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: or whatever. But, you know, that's just my take on it.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I'm Jimbo or Buzz, man.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: I know they're going to look at other candidates and stuff.
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: But I believe he could put together a good staff, man. And,
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: you know, man, truth be told, the way this– man,
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: we get a quarterback and get the trenches right, man,
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: we could be by.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Next year or a year after, I feel. You know
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: It could be instant. Man, listen, you really can't– I'm
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: telling you, look at the 12-game fan. Look at that
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: damn schedule for the 2027 season. If you bring in
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: the right guy, you can– The word is, we're going
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: to this 24. Next year should be the 24-th inning playoff. Like,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: you could really be in the playoffs year one. You
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: could really be in the playoffs year one. You could
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: be second in ACC.
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: You could possibly be first in the ACC because I
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: think Miami is great. Mario is great from a talent
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: standpoint as far as bringing in talent, right? But I
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: do think when it comes to actual coaching in certain situations,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: there's a lot of flaws in that. So if you
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: bring in a guy.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: He's a bad game day coach.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: If you bring in a guy that has comparable talent
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: with him, again, right. So if you bring in a
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: guy that can bring in comparable talent and Jimbo, a
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: known recruiter, can bring in comparable talent to Mario, shit, man,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I like us.
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: So I know one guy can actually coach.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Let me ask you this before I go.
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: How long do you think Miami can keep that up,
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: going to the portal, getting the best quarterback ever out
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: of the portal?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: How long do you think they can keep that up?
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: As long as the money's long. As long as the
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: money's long, bro. As long as the money's long and
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: they're making the adjustments with how the portal, with putting
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: the cap on the portal, Miami can do this shit
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: all day, bro. They can. Okay.
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: Okay, man.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I appreciate you, brother. Yes, sir.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: Appreciate you.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Make sure you guys hit that like button, subscribe to
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: the channel. If you guys want to join in to
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: get your takeoff, let us know and let's do it.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Let's hang out a little bit. But yeah, guys, that's
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: where I'm at. And just hearing the conversation I've been
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: hearing about the things that Jimbo could come with, it
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: definitely has me intrigued. But I'm I'm like all these kids,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: to be honest with you. Aside from, I'm not a
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: fan of, I'm just, with Deion, I think if he
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: would have, that whole not taking, not going on the road,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: something like that's, no. And I do think at Florida State,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: he does have a case for the, I'm not hard
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: to find at Florida State being in Florida, but still though, man,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: you got to get out there and you got to
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: build those relationships.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: It's not about you. It's about these kids.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: So something interesting, CJ, I put in the chat. I
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: kind of started a poll about 15, 20 minutes ago,
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: just listing the coaches for the people to vote on.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Dickert's at 19%, Jimbo at 65%, Eli Drinkwitz at 4%,
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: and Manny Diaz at 12%. So only about 50 votes.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: So anyone listening, make sure you put your vote in there,
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: but I'm just curious to see what, you know, what,
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: what the fans want.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: You're on Twitter all the time. You don't, you don't
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: really know. You see all sorts of tweets.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: So.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Yeah, guys, I'll show up in the conversation and do
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: that for us. Very interesting.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I like that. And again, I like, I like what
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Jack is doing the way for us, man. He's really
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: making a good case. I'm not lying to you, man.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: Those guys are pretty damn impressive. And to see that
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: running back go there and, Everybody on the timeline was
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: talking about that running back last year doing Thomas County's
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: playoff run.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he's only a mile from it. He was pretty good.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Right, I'm joking, bro. That's the crazy part. We seen
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: how great those guys was. We was kind of wondering
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: why the hell we didn't get involved. And sure enough,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: we said then, he go to Wake Forest, he's going
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: to kill there. He's their second-leaning rusher. He has a
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: chance to be their leading rusher after the freshman year.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: So you bring Dicker, you're probably bringing him back home
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: for sure. But again, I like Dicker, but– With Jimbo,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: what he could do, man, from the resources that he
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: could get, his recruiting prowess and that type of deal,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I just need certain assurances whenever they do have those,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I guess, interview hiring process, whatever it may be.
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: Offensive coordinator, you're.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Going to get out of the way and pretty much
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: just be a GM and kind of delegate things and
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: that type of deal. If Jimbo does that, I'll be
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: all on board for it because I do think him
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: as the main play caller has passed his time. But
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: as far as recruitment, developing guys, coaching them up, game
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: day decisions and that type of deal. If he lets
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: everybody else do their job from a coaching standpoint, the
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: guys you hire, let them coach, coordinators coordinate, he should
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: be perfectly fine. All right, guys. Anybody else want to
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: get in and chop it up? If not, we're probably
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: in the show. But again, hit that link and jump
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: in if you guys want to get your takeoff. Talk
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: about the Mike Norvell fire and how you guys feel
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: about that. Or you could talk about the new coaching hire. Interesting.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I do think FSU should have went ahead and pulled
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: the trigger on Mike Novell last year against Stanford, just
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: kicking the tire down the road. Everyone knows that. Tried
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: to call in, but Lincoln didn't work for me. Hit
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: that link again, Wells, if you don't mind. Hit that
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: link again if you don't mind, please.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: He asked a question instead. He said, who would you
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: want with coordinators if we hired Jimbo?
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: That's a good question.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: So, Cade Bell is a guy that's been kind of
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: linked to who I would like a lot. Cade Bell
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: is the Pittsburgh offensive coordinator. Real young guy. Real innovative.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Really well regarded as a recruiter, too. He's making like
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: less than a million dollars at Pitt, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: He's coming off from 1.5 or something. I'm absolutely sure
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: he'll take a double his salary plus being in a
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: better situation at Florida State. So Cade Bell is a
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: guy that I would target initially. I see the comments,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: someone mentioned Chris Wienke. I want to be so– I
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: like Chris as a quarterback. Coach Wienke did a good
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: job with GT as a quarterback coach, but their offense
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: this year at Georgia Tech hasn't been good at all.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Is Cade Bell Valdosta State, CJ, one– Was he there
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: when I, I think I was there when they won
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: the Natty. I think Cade Bell was at Valdosta State
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: when I was there.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Cade Bell was at Valdosta State for a minute.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: He was the quarterback. He played there. Yep.
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: No, he didn't play there.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: He played at JU, but he was the coach at
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Valdosta State. He was the GA from 2006, and then
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: he was the quarterback coach 2007.
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: Offensive quarter end of 2018. Yeah, that was the hours there.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: So, yeah, Cade Bell got– so, I mean, Val Dawson,
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: you got ties to the South.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: I mean, come on now.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Title time.
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: And guess where he's from? Cade Bell's from Gainesville, Florida.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Gainesville, Florida. So, Cade Bell would be a guy that
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: I would look at. I think if you give him 1.5
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: and opportunity to come to Florida State, I mean, it
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: would be a no-brainer. So Cade Bell is a guy
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I like a lot. I know we mentioned the Memphis
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: coach is pretty damn good, actually. 21, I read the
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Memphis coach. I like, I like the Memphis head coach.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: The big issue with that is, is Memphis, right? We're not,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: we're not going to double back on Memphis probably two
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: years in a row with superstitions and beyond, which he's black.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: Damn sure everybody go for another black coach at.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: This point in time.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: We need him to leave so that Memphis circles back
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: on Norville and drops that buyout.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: I think, yeah, Charles Huff. Charles Huff is a real
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: good job, real good coach, but the, Issue with Charles,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: I don't know if people say he hasn't stayed at
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: a program more than one or two years.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: We're not fucking Southern Miss and goddamn Memphis.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Like, bro, come on now. If he fucking comes to
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: Florida State and starts winning, he's not going anywhere. I mean,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: if you come to Florida State and start winning, what
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: programs are you going to go to and win? Like,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: if you're winning at Florida State, what program can you
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: go to that would be a promotion, so to speak,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: or a better job? If you're winning, unless you're taking
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: a job like a dream school type of job, so
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: you play that damn Alabama or some shit like that,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: you know, that type of deal. So I say that
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: to say this. If he was to come to Florida State, Charles,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: for whatever reason, we were to hire him. You don't
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: have to worry about him leaving within a year or two,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: in my opinion, especially if he's winning. Florida State is
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: a premier job, a premier job.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: I was going to say, you never finished. You answered OC,
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: but he said coordinators. So circle back to DC if
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: you have a name, because he said Jimbo is the
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: coach who would, who would be your coordinators.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: So my coordinator, I will go for, I will go
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: for Glenn. Glenn's shooting him. I'll shoot for the stars
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: for Glenn. If Jimbo's your head coach, you should have
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: a lot of money. Um, you should have a lot
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: of money from your coaching pool, in my opinion. And
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: real quick, I'm sorry about the pull up his salary
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: right now. I looked at it. Um, a few weeks ago.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: I feel like George at that point would just match it.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: They could, because he's making 2.2 there, so they definitely
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: could match it. I will start off with three and
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: kind of go from there. But again, you can have
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: a conversation and say, let's do....
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: Let's do.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: Head coach and waiting?
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Correct. Let's do that. At a certain point in time,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: you get three mil here, whenever Jimbo retires, you will
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: be the guy. We're not saying that it's going to
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: be a rush or anything like that. We know Kirby
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Smart damn sure ain't going nowhere, right? He's going to
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: retire a Georgia Bulldog. Jimbo is older than Kirby. Give
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Jimbo a three to four year contract. And after that
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: three to four years, we'll see how things play out.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: But whenever that time come, you will be the head
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: coach in waiting. So if you could give him three,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: three mil, pay him like a real G, real solid
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: G5 salary. Plus the promises of possibly being the head
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: coach in 2000. Well, I'm saying that 2000 or whatever,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: whatever your Jimbo retires. I think that would be a
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: pretty good move. And also, Travars Robinson is a name
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: to watch out for, too. He's a name that I've
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: been hearing as well, Travars Robinson. T-Rob is the co-defensive
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: coordinator for Georgia. And it's funny, I kind of mentioned
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: that as well, too. He's been having a lot of
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: co-coordinators along the way, going back to Mel Tucker, Dan Lane,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: a lot of co-coordinators along the way. But Travars Robinson
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: is a hell of a recruiter. Really good recruiter. Currently
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: from Miami. He's currently at Georgia. 17 years experience. One
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: of the top recruiters in the nation. Really good coach.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: So T-Rod would be a guy I'd definitely reach out
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: to from a defensive coordinator standpoint, in my opinion.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: We got Ryder Dye.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: What's that?
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: Ryder Dye?
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Got you.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: You locked in.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Talk to me.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: How you feeling, bro?
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: All right. How y'all doing tonight, CJ?
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Pretty good. Pretty good.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: Kind of off topic a little bit.
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: I want to go back to, do you think we
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: should go ahead and give the quarterback, what's his name,
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: Malachi and Sperry a shot starting from, what's going on
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: with that situation?
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: So with Malachi, he may not be on the fucking
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: team anymore, to be honest with you.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Because it was reports that prior to the game, when
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: he signed with the agency last week, they don't want
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: to say like Wednesday or Thursday once the Injury report
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: came out. He was listed as probable.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: He wasn't seen on the sideline at all on Saturday.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: So it may be a situation.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: Maybe a situation.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Where he's talking about exploring the internet transfer portal. But
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: all of that was done prior to the Mike Novell situation.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: So you never know with Mike being fired.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: He's talking about that as far as coming back.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: If he was to come back, I would just to see.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: What do you have to lose? Yeah, because I was
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: thinking about, man, you know.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I saw comments in there trying to rare shirt. There's
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: no such thing as rare shirt nowadays. You get five
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: years to play. That whole rare shirt shit is pretty
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: much out the window. You get five years to play.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: No rare shirt or not, you get five years to play.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: He was Juco too, right?
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: So he has three years left to play. So there's
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: no such thing as a rare shirt this year. Well, anymore.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: You just have five years to play flat out. Of course,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: you get more. with waivers and that type of thing
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: if you have injuries. But NCAA did away with the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: rare shirt situation and give players just five years to go.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: So that's why Deuce Robinson can actually come back next
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: year if he wants to. That's a different conversation. But
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: go ahead, Ryder.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: My apologies. No, you good.
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: I was just going to say, you know, he should
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: have been a little more patient. If that's the case,
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: you know, he'd have moved on because I felt like
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: if he had an opportunity, I'm thinking like in terms
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: of back when Jordan Travis got the opportunity, it was
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: against Boston College.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Remember that? That very first play.
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: Jordan Travis ran it for a touchdown, man.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I'll never forget. When I played, he did not play
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: in the Willie. And once Browse was the full-time guy
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: with Odell being the coach, Right. And the rest is history.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: And the rest was history, man.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: You know, I think situations like that, some of these
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: kids got to be a little more patient, man.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: I agree. I agree.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: And that's the portal era now. Like, if it's not
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: given to you right now, these kids are leaving.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: It's unfortunate. They literally are just leaving off-ripper. You're never
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: given the time to actually play out, which is crazy.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: And also, I feel like you're... I think... it builds,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: adversely builds character too. Like going through the crowd for
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: a bit, it truly builds character. Like everything is a
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: given to you, man. It really is.
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: Like you really have to go through certain things to,
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: you know, get to what you want to get.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: So just, I think we're kind of giving bad, we're
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: teaching bad lessons or we just, when things get tough,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: you just quit and go. That's a different conversation for
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: another day, in my opinion. But yeah, if Malachi is
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: currently still in the roster, I would absolutely play him
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: down the bench and see what you can do. See
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: what he has at a certain point. I would.
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: Yeah, because at this point, Ashton Daniels, you know, he
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: didn't show good moments. But this last game, man, that
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: was his worst game he done had since he been
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: at FSU, man, four turnovers like that. You know, and
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: a lot of them turnovers was on him because I
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: don't know why Mike Norvell was running him out of
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: the pocket like that and giving him the option to
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: throw the ball. That dude cannot throw on the run.
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: I noticed that. That was a terrible decision for them
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: to roll him out of the pocket.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: He was having to roll left and throw on right. Yeah.
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: Rolling left and throwing with his right arm is not
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: a good thing.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: That's never good anyway on any quarterback.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Whenever we was rolling, like, whatever we was rolling, I
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: was looking at, I was at the game, so I
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: was able to see the routes kind of develop. Whenever
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: we were rolling, it was, the routes weren't even in
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: his area really. Like, there were certain times where he
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: was just rolling and he didn't have shit to damn
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: throw to. Like, he was just rolling the road. And also,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: he did a good job of scramble drills as well, too,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: once he was outside the pocket. A lot of those
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: guys were just like, what the hell am I doing?
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Kind of standing around. But I knew the interception was
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: absolutely bad, but the play calling wasn't good at all.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Norville throwing him to the left, having him throw right
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: when there's literally no receivers within the road, within that
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: area that he can kind of throw to.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: It was just ugly from top to bottom.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Ugly play calling, ugly game plan, ugly play from the players,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: just unprepared all around.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Yeah, just unprepared, man.
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: Hopefully these guys can get some type of development from
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: here on out the rest of the season.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Because, I mean, you think about it, CJ.
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: Ain't nobody on Florida State roster getting developed to me, man.
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: I mean, you got even from defense to offense, man.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: I say linebackers.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I take that back. Yeah, I
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: missed that. Yep, yep. You're right. Yeah, I take that back. Yeah, linebackers. Yep,
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: you're right. Wide receivers are pretty good, too, though, you know.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: I think so, too. We have some issues with drops
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: in certain situations. But if you– we've had the opportunity
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: to really expose some people in the passing game with
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: just Ashton Daniels holding the ball too long, missing reads
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: and that type of deal.
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: So, yeah, I agree with you 100%.
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: Yeah, but I appreciate you taking my call, man, and
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: I'll let you get on to another caller.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: Y'all have a good night.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: You as well, man. I appreciate you. All right, guys,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: we got time for one more possible caller. If you
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: want to jump in the chat, sorry, not the chat.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: If you want to get on to the call, rather,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: go ahead and hit that link and we'll take care
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: of you. If not, we're going to wrap the show up.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: But again, hit that like button while you guys are
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: still here and subscribe to the community if you haven't already.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: But yeah, rolling him out that way, man, that shit
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: was just a recipe for fucking disaster. Just looking at
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: the route concepts within those rollouts, man, Ashton.
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: Daniels didn't have a chance. He didn't have a chance.
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: So it was just bad all around.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: Bad game planning, bad play calls, bad preparation, kids unprepared,
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: especially off of.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: Bobby, too.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: And the funny part about Mike Novell, and I said this,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: he would do Mike Novell's going to do Mike Novell's shit, right?
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: So when news is coming out, hey, you know, he
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: does this, they may possibly keep him. He do this,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: they may possibly keep him. And we're looking down the
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: stretch of like, oh, Clemson isn't looking that good. Pittsburgh
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: down to their third-string quarterback. I think we underestimated Mike
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Norville being how bad. I mean, so we underestimated Mike
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Norville being Mike Norville, in my opinion. And we also,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: if you guys been following me, you know, I kind
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: of highlighted this four game stretch, right? This four game
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: ACC stretch with Virginia, Louisville, Miami, and Clemson. And I
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: feel like, I think I said this, like I went
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: from any streams on both sides within this four game
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: stretch to either go one way, one or two ways rather,
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: we either be in Charlotte for the ACC championship, Well,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: we would be firing Mike Norvell, and sure enough, we
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: were one of three, and he was fired after that stretch.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: CJ, one quick thing, because I know Ernie's been promoted
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: to D.C. Is that somebody you think they would retain,
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: the new coach, like for linebacker coach? Maybe the one coach, right?
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: A few coaches, actually, from what I hear, and I
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: don't know how.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: This might be another video, but we can talk about
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: it for a second. But this might be a potential
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: video we do. So just be quick with it.
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: I got you. That's a good point.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: So possible.
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: This is what I've been hearing. We don't know how
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: true this will be. Possible guys from the Mike Novell
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: staff that could be retained. One guy that I think
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: the administration wants to hold on to is Ernie Sims.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: And rightfully so. Ernie is Florida State royalty, Tallahassee royalty.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: One of the best players to come through Tallahassee in
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: It's supposed to be linebacker. But all that aside, the
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: linebacker play has been night and day since last year, man. Like,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: it's really been night and day since last year. And
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: I'm talking about guys that have already been on the roster, too.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: Omar Graham, for example. Omar Graham looks so much better
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: from what he did last year under John Patuas. Like,
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: so much better. The energy in the room is a
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: complete 180. It's night and day. Went to a few
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: practices and went to a few practices over the years, right?
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Coach Papp's energy is nowhere near the same as Ernie's energy.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Ernie's energy is contagious like that shit. Once Ernie get
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: between those lines, you see the same player you saw
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: on the field where Ernie seems like the intensity, the craziness,
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: all that type of deal. It pours into the players
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: and you see a guy like Chris Jones who kind
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: of feeds off of those guys and kind of cut
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: from the same damn cloth. So you bring in a
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: Chris Jones who I told you guys was probably the
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: most important portal addition in my opinion. You bring in
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: or you get better play from Omar Graham who looks
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: damn good. Caleb Lovelli looks, am I pronouncing Caleb's last
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: name wrong?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Is it?
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: Caleb Lovelli, who's looking damn good. He's looking damn good.
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: Caleb's looking damn good.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: So the linebacker as a whole has been completely better
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: from last year to this year.
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: Keep giving him more time to develop those guys. And
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: also the young linebackers we brought in too, right? The
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: young linebackers, Isaiah Williams, he got hurt for sure. And
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: I think he kind of rushed back too soon. That's
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: a different conversation. Probably could have gotten a mic for them.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: Breach it now. I don't know, man. Get out of
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: them buyout, man. Get out of that buyout. But long
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: story short, we have a bunch of young linebackers. Daylon Green,
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Noah Lovelli, Isaiah Williams. Those guys. What's the kid from
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: Miami we got as well, too? The linebacker from Miami.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Drawing a blank. He ended up getting a late offer
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: from Florida and Texas as well. But again, we have
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: some really young linebackers as well, too. So you want
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: to keep Ernie Simmons moving forward. Also, Nick Williams is
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: the guy that the staff wants to keep, too. Nick
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Williams is the guy that the staff wants to keep
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: to the defensive end coach. Those guys have been playing
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: a lot better, too. Kennedy, he's been one of the
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: bright spots on the defense. And Nick is a young,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: up-and-coming guy, really good recruiter. I think he'll benefit a
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: lot better from an actual hit. Kyra Mayock, appreciate you.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: That's the linebacker. Kyra Mayock from Miami Central. late offer
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: from Texas, Florida offer him, I think Miami offer late
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: as well. Those young linebackers are really good, in my opinion,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: and could be cornerstones in the future if Ernie continues
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: to develop him. But Nick Williams. Nick Williams is a
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: guy that I think would be retained as well. I
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: think Nick Williams is a guy that the administration likes.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: He has a lot of potential. And just kind of,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I'm not saying this is your, Jim was going to
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: be the guy, but Nick Williams was also He worked
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: under Jimbo Fisher at Texas A & M as well, too.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: So we have that connection. But I do think Nick
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: is one of the bright coaches in the game, has
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: a pretty good future. So that's a guy that they'll
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: want to keep as well. So Nick Williams, Ernie Sims
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: from the offensive standpoint. There was one more name that
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: I saw that FSU could possibly want to retain. from
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: the offensive standpoint. Herb Pan.
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: I'm going to keep Herb Pan as well, too. Herb
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: Pan is a really good coach, really good developer.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: I do question the recruitment because we don't have a
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: damn recruit committed on.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: The offensive line at all.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: But at the same downtime, how much is that to
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Mike Norvell's think with us being right in the 50th?
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: But from a development standpoint, you got to see how
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: good offense, they're not as good as they are this
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: year as they were last year, but it's night and
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: day compared to the offensive lines we saw under the
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: former offensive line coach, Alex Atkins. So we had one
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: of the best, it's crazy with five or seven last
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: year with probably the second best offensive line in the ACC.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Different conversation for a different day. But I think Herb
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: Hinn will be a guy that I want to keep
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: as well. So those are the, Three coaches that I
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: could possibly see stick around. More confidence in Ernie Sims
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: for sure, and Nick Williams being on that side of
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: the ball with how young he is from a defensive
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: standpoint and being regarded as one of the good recruiters,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: really good recruiters, young good recruiters in the country. So
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Nick Williams, Ernie Sims, and possibly Herb Hand, who's a
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: damn good developer on the offensive line. All right, guys,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: so those are the coaches I think that could possibly
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: retain for the new staff. Make sure you guys hit
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: that like and subscribe button. We're going to go ahead
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: and end this live. Tune in to Dote Talk, man.

- 1:30:10Speaker 1: hires and that type of deal. And once we actually
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: name the head coach, that's just the beginning of all this, right?
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: Just the beginning. You got to fill out the staff.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: So it's going to be a lot of content on
