- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar fans.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in to Duval daily presented by jing Jack.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Lugo.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here Friday.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: January second happy new year.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: If this is your first show of the new year with us, really appreciate you tuning in.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're talking about like should Jaguar fans be worried about this final game.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to bury the lead.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jags fans, should you be worried?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you can be worried.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: You can be not worried.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: You can feel confident, whatever.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: But if the Jag Wars prepare the way that they should prepare this week, the way that they have been preparing, almost the entire year, they will win this game.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: And there is no reason to believe that they won't prepare in the right way.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I just would be shocked if they don't come out and play their brand of football, if they haven't throughout this entire week been keeping the same mindset, which the mindset is want to know every week.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: The next game is the most important game in franchise history.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: That is being spoken about being communicated from the top down, from Tony Bicelli to James Ladsson,
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: They have a one-game mindset in that building.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's proper way to go about things really with a young team.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: And they're not all young, right?
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: But there's a lot of newness from the coaching staff to the front office, to the players.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think Jack's fans should necessarily be worried about this football game.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think they should be excited about the game, excited about the opportunity to go out there.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Be loud.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: Routy supporting the Jaguar as a team that deserves fan support right now for the first time in a little while.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: you get to play the Titans for the AFC South title.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not the AFC South title for the Titans, but it is for the Jaguars, and yeah, the Titans are probably gonna be playing with their hair on fire with the opportunity to ruin the Jaguars bid at winning the AFC South.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, the Jags are in the playoffs, that's not the concern at this point, but you win the AFC South and you're guaranteed yourself a home playoff game and that's a big deal.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna talk about kind of,
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: fans should be worried about the game, but some areas to watch out for that I think are interesting here.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: And this one, again, really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: All jags all the time.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Now let's check out genjag.com, pick up some new dooval gear, help support the channel, look damn good while doing it.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: So number one, I mean, I don't know how you start talking about the Titans without it starting with Jeffrey Simmons.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: He is their best player by a wide margin.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: He might be the best player, the Jaguar's have faced all year.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: The way he is playing on a defense that is legitimately horrible.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: The Titans defense has been horrible this year.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: The way he is playing, despite the rest of that defense, really just stinking it up, is unbelievable.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's having his best year as a pro, he's 28 years old, he's at 62 pressures this year.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: They move him around a lot, but he's an interior defense of Lyman, 62 pressures, as an interior defense of Lyman is pretty unbelievable and double digit sacks now as well for Jeffrey Simmons.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: He plays the run extremely well.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: of an interior defense of Lyman as you'll find in the NFL right now with his combination of, you know, he's a prose pro, he's unbelievable athletic, unbelievably athletic, and really strong.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: And Liam Cohen has invoked the name Aaron Donald twice this year when talking about Jeffrey Simmons and saying not comparing him like their skill sets, but just like the way they can
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: grown men, like really good opponents on the football field and make, you know, sometimes when you see a Jeffrey Simmons up against any offensive linemen, it looks like varsity versus junior varsity or college versus high school, right, things of that nature, that's how dominant he is.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jack Wars obviously have to have a great plan for him.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: They did a good job with him last time that they played.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: They really did.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to do that again because he can wreck the game.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: And when you look at this game, it shouldn't be a close game.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: But if it is a close game, then he gets that opportunity to maybe change the game.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe one big play defensively can change the game for the Titans.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: if it's a close game.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: So you just got to really be on it with Jeffrey Simmons.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: He can wreck, he can wreck, wreck shop in the backfield, and just dominate.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: So he's one player, obviously, to watch for the Titans.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then my second thing is like, I just think the Titans are gonna be out for blood.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: This game was really chippy last time these two teams play especially in the second half, late in the first half.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of extracurriculars, a lot of after the whistle, a lot of physicality, and then Titan's player is kind of crying about it afterwards saying, you know, Logan Cook said he was going to kill me or whatever.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think they're going to be out for blood.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to know that the Jaguars, again, have this, the Jaguars have all the pressure on them in this game.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: The Titans have zero pressure.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Jags have a lot of pressure, because they're the
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: They're the team playing for everything, right now, again, the AFC South title and we've talked about this this week with
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Not only do you like winning your division just means something like even after the season if you don't win the Super Bowl or whatever.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Just winning your division does mean something like that's bragging rights.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's another year you can put up on your stadium of division champions, right?
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: It means something the Jaguars haven't had a lot of division titles throughout their history.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean what is it?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: 98, 99, 17 and 22.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: So getting one in 2025 would be a big deal.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: But just as important as that is, for a big picture, I think more dialed in to just what happens after if you win the AFC South title, you give yourself a platform to have a home playoff game and Jacksonville and the Jaguars are a much better
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: home team than they are on the road.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: They've been, they've been road warriors.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: They've been good on the road, but they've been better at home.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And if you give yourself an opportunity to start your first playoff game with this new regime at home, where it playoffs, the intensity is just different.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: The intensity and the playoffs ramps up, like when you go from pre-season to regular season, you go from regular season to the playoffs, it's a entirely different beast.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think having home-fueled advantage for that first opportunity to dip your toes in the water with this regime would be a big deal.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: And look, there's plenty of jag wars that have playoff experience, I'm not doubting that, but this group, together, has not done it yet, because it's their first year together.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that it would be really big.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: for the jags to be able to win the F.C.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: South again, ragging the rights for long-term looking back at this season and all that being able to be division champions, but also to set yourself up for success in the playoffs.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas, having to go on the road in the wild card round, so much better being at home.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: An interesting thing, the Jaguar is really struggled last week with Ashton Dullin.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: returning kicks, and, you know, funnily enough, I got a lot of flack for saying when Ashton Dueling got heard, I was like, you know, that's a big loss for the cult.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: People are like, oh, he hasn't caught any passes this year.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, he's damn good returner.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: And you saw that last week, and not to pat my own back too much, but,
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: To Mayor Dica, he is a great returner as well.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars did a really good job with him.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Last time they played the Titans, they've done a really good job most of the season.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: There was like a little bit of a low early on in the first month or two of the season on Kit coverage.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then it was just stellar until this past week against the Colts Ashton Dool and really set the Colts up for success on offense, scoring some points off of some big returns where the Jaguars just weren't as fundamentally sound on their kick coverage as they normally are.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And so I like the fact that they're getting chimera decay in this game as the kick returner who is just so dangerous and it gives him an opportunity to really
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: you know sharpen their skills and get back on track against a really good player at that spot in a good return unit.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be something I'm keeping an eye on for sure.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously there's the cam ward of it all.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: This offense for the Titans, they've been score and more points lately and has it always been a good offense, best competition, whatever.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: They've scored a lot more points lately.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they've given up a lot of points.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: For sure, they're two and two in their last four games.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Cam Ward has scored at least two touchdowns in each of their last four games.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly two touchdowns, actually.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: In each of their last four games, so...
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: They're really doing some some things offensively where he can be a little bit boomer bust.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's absolutely there.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like he can make an insane top 10, you know, number one on the top 10, sports in or top 10, type of play, highlight.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: But then also has the turnover worthy plays.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: The offensive line pass pro is up and down.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a little bit better lately, but it's up and down.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: The run games a little up and down.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: and the receivers, you know, leave a little bit to be desired overall.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: Young group, but even acknowledging the youth, it's not the most talented group in the league by a wide margin.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, all that to say, it'll be just interesting to see how Cam Ward performs in this game.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar has really held him in check last time they played, but he's been playing better football as of late.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's done enough for sure for them to move forward thinking like this is our guy we're building around for the future obviously you don't want to give up on a.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Number one pick quickly and I don't think he's given you any reason to be giving up on him if you're the Titans I think that you have plenty of hope towards the future.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, there's some thanks to figure out on the coaching side But yeah, the Titans are playing a little bit better football on the offensive side.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars will have to be pretty locked in defensively to just Try to make this not one of those fourth quarter games that you had last week
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: where you're on pins and needles a little bit.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: And again, a big part of that will be Chimera D.K.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: and making sure he doesn't have a huge impact on the return game.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing with the Titans to me is like, when you look at
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: their ability to, again, Jeffrey Simmons wreck the game defensively, Cam Ward, this could be a volatile type of game, like they could absolutely have a huge play defensively from Jeffrey Simmons, and then Cam Ward, if you're set up with Jeffrey Simmons, turn over forced or, or,
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a little bit closer than Jaguar's fans will want.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: And again, because the Titans are really, I think, going to be just geared up for this game in a big way.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Jags
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: will win the game.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: Don't want to bury the lead too much on the bold predictions tomorrow.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that the Jaguars will win this football game.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, that's not going out on a limb too much.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll talk more about this one tomorrow morning.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoyed the content, please like and subscribe, and y'all have a good one.
