- 0:00Recording in progress. I'm leaving that in.
- 0:07But what about Bow Banger Management Fantasy Hockey
- 0:10Podcast? Woo, guess who's back?
- 0:13Recording in progress. Neither of you wooed.
- 0:19I would after. After I promise.
- 0:21OK, good. Kevin's back.
- 0:23Tell a friend. I'm live from the basement,
- 0:26everybody. I got my friend Morgan Riley
- 0:30here. Kevin's gonna have to post a
- 0:33picture in the discord of him with like today's newspaper.
- 0:35He like I'm OK. I caught up with the episodes
- 0:40earlier today and I was like, man, people in the discord keep
- 0:44referencing like the basement I had like is that just because
- 0:47like people are missing me? Or is that because like the guys
- 0:49on the pod actually talked about me being in the basement and you
- 0:51guys actually talked about me being in the basement so.
- 0:56I feel like the thing about like roasting the person missing the
- 0:59episode that's so great is it makes me really not wanna miss
- 1:02an episode. So like, what are they gonna
- 1:04say? You know, like this.
- 1:06Was the first time I missed an episode after over a year.
- 1:10And yeah, I will say I had a great relaxing weekend, but
- 1:14that's never happening again. No kidding.
- 1:17Good. Yeah, the incentive structure to
- 1:21not miss is definitely in place. Today we're doing our Week 4
- 1:26News and updates episode and Kevin special.
- 1:29Would you Rathers, We absolutely cannot do a would you rather
- 1:32episode without Kevin? I think no.
- 1:34Matter the. Instances if you had to like
- 1:38mail it via carrier pigeon to us.
- 1:40To make sure that. Your brothers are red.
- 1:42He would do it. He loves.
- 1:43Would you Rathers who? Doesn't.
- 1:45Honestly, I feel like it's the best part of this podcast.
- 1:49It's a. It's a.
- 1:50Great. My favorite part is the puns,
- 1:51but you know, to each their own. What should our?
- 1:57Stay, stay for the would you rathers.
- 1:58Exactly. Yeah, obviously.
- 2:02Of course that's. Imports, of course.

- 2:24Wherever you get your podcasts. Josh, begin with #1 on the
- 2:30tidbit list. OK, this is not a real top 10 so
- 2:33that's what Jake was allowed to say #1 instead of Kevin.
- 2:36I know everyone in the discord was missing it and actually
- 2:39recording. Everything.
- 2:40I was kind of scared to be honest.
- 2:42I'm Batman. Oh yeah, no, I love doing that,
- 2:48but it wrecks my throat. So anyways.
- 2:51That's why you're not a throat coat.
- 2:52Yes, I knew I set myself up for that one.
- 2:55So OK, jumping right in. Finally some good news for Josh
- 3:00Shayne Gostisbehere is back at practice and we'll be playing
- 3:03tonight and take back his spot on power play 1.
- 3:06Not that it's a very good power play one, but Despite that Ghost
- 3:10had a really strong start to the season.
- 3:11He still 85% roster. So I don't think I don't think
- 3:14this is like a guy who got dropped.
- 3:15He was out and have the chance to grab him, but he's been
- 3:18playing. He was playing like a guy who
- 3:19should be higher than 85% rostered.
- 3:21He's very streaky player in the past, but he seems to be doing a
- 3:24lot better this year. In fact, one thing that I really
- 3:26like about him compared to previous years is that he's
- 3:28blocking a lot and actually taking shots.
- 3:30In the past, he's been one of those classic like points
- 3:33defenseman who does zeros in the back, back end.
- 3:35So the second he's not putting up points you hate having on
- 3:38your team. This year it's been more fun.
- 3:39Obviously, small sample size. All that to say, I'm very
- 3:41excited. Yeah, I think.
- 3:43I believe they didn't give Nikisha chance.
- 3:45Yeah, that's, but we talked about how it's, you know, with
- 3:48the rookies. It's definitely interesting and
- 3:51the language barrier is probably worth mentioning too, right?
- 3:54That's the big thing when equation yeah, but I will say
- 3:57for Gosto this this Carolina defensive core is beat up right
- 4:02now. Like no sloven, no country.
- 4:04Miller. I feel like ghosts in the past
- 4:07has struggled in the category coverage because he's playing
- 4:09line 3 minutes. Like maybe now he just gets more
- 4:11time on ice and know his back categories become more reliable.
- 4:14Yeah, I mean, even like a guy, even a ghost, like if his body
- 4:18is there, some pucks will hit him and he'll get those blocks.
- 4:21So yeah, the more ice time he has, the more chance he has for
- 4:23getting hit by Fox. But maybe, you know what?
- 4:25That's kind of a good point. Maybe which should be looking to
- 4:29sell him before like slaving and those guys come back because not
- 4:32that they'll get in the way of his points, but maybe they can
- 4:34get in the way of his back cats. So that's definitely something.
- 4:36Interesting to spare. I feel like Josh has had him on
- 4:40his team. I feel like the last three.
- 4:41Or four year, I drafted him second to last round, which is
- 4:43like 19th round. It just I see him there and I'm
- 4:45like this guy shouldn't still be here, you know.
- 4:47So even though I don't want him on my team, I still take Yeah.
- 4:51And he's been sick. So definitely Carson's been
- 4:54great too. Same type of player also.
- 4:57But yeah, so that's very exciting in the discussion of
- 5:00Canes players. We've also got Pioda Kochetkov
- 5:03back at practice and expected to play this week.
- 5:06So it's all you Freddie Anderson owners expect this starts to be
- 5:10split more evenly moving forward.
- 5:12Honestly, I think that's. I don't think that changes the
- 5:15difference because it feels like Brandon Bussey has been playing
- 5:18all the honestly, dude, God would be playing too, right?
- 5:22Like he's Freddy's not getting an extreme workload.
- 5:24He's still playing every other game basically so.
- 5:27Yeah, 100%. It may take the one I think I
- 5:32actually. But I don't think I've seen
- 5:34enough from Kochetkov to. Be ready so.
- 5:36That impressive pro now Freddy's also 1/4 of his 5 starts this
- 5:42season, so it's not. Like it's gonna be a. 50, it's
- 5:45gonna be 5050 like it's always going to be.
- 5:47So yeah, exactly. Going forward I want to own
- 5:49Kochetkov of all these rules for sure.
- 5:51No doubt. I don't see a big difference
- 5:53between Chekov Anderson if I'm being real.
- 5:55Yeah, I was on that train for years.
- 5:57It's just Anderson gets hurt. It's not.
- 6:00Yeah, Jiggy saying this is the Anderson owner last year who
- 6:03just. Had you saying this.
- 6:04Also has Kochetkova like hasn't played a game in leagues?
- 6:09Yeah, just worried about Freddie Anderson being heard.
- 6:11I get it, but I'm just. Saying no, I mean it's.
- 6:13Like the guy that you're saying is coming back and gonna be the
- 6:15one is the guy that's also currently hurt.
- 6:17Yeah, I don't think a checkup is the picture of health either,
- 6:20but I think it's gonna be a clear 5050 personally.
- 6:24Like I actually, despite Carolina being one of the best
- 6:26teams in the league, I'm not really interested in either of
- 6:28these guys. First of all, I hate having a
- 6:29tandem goalie who has to be picked.
- 6:32Look, if you can pick up for free like Keith Anderson, that's
- 6:34a different story, like for 0G, But let's say you like drafted
- 6:36him like I'm never I never loved drafting A tandem goalie.
- 6:39And then second of all, the whole, the line of letting so
- 6:41few shots against so the safe percentage always kind of gets
- 6:44cooked even in a good game. Well, maybe that one.
- 6:45No defence, no defenseman on the roster anymore.
- 6:47They'll let more shots against. Yeah, maybe, But maybe they'll
- 6:51let in more goals. Too Anderson Anderson's last
- 6:54game against Colorado, he was 44 for 48 so.
- 6:57That's pretty wild. Yeah.
- 6:59I would not expect similar performances for the rest of
- 7:02the. Season.
- 7:02I can't imagine they get 48 shots against him again.
- 7:05So yeah, but they're rematching so.
- 7:08Just to say it, last year I Anderson played 22 teams.
- 7:11Could check out Blade 47 and Caroline is a.
- 7:14Black and things are better than they.
- 7:16Were last year, I understand was heard exactly.
- 7:17So yeah, to me, 26 years old for Kochetkov versus 37 for
- 7:22Anderson, I would definitely keep an eye on it.
- 7:25I'm very interested in. Just only differences enough to
- 7:28be a deal worker either way like during the same.
- 7:30Yeah, let's just wait for Anderson to break and then we
- 7:32can say checkoff anyways. Yeah, could have anything back
- 7:35yet. Then it's too late.
- 7:36That's the problem, yeah. Next we've got Roope Hintz
- 7:40day-to-day with an injury. Tyler Sagan is taking a spot on
- 7:42line one, power play one. Very interested in Sagan as a
- 7:46stream until hence his back. I think it's short term, so I
- 7:50wouldn't look into this too much, but line one, power play
- 7:52one on Dallas is a very desirable place to be.
- 7:56So your performs when he's in these positions.
- 7:59Last year he was really, really good.
- 8:01He also had a ton of injury issues, but it's really
- 8:04something that like when he had the opportunity and we wrote him
- 8:07off coming into last year, he didn't have any, you know it, it
- 8:11had been years of no production and then last year he really
- 8:13stepped it up. So if it's some sort of short
- 8:16term hold, it's really, really interesting.
- 8:20I'm not, I'm not breaking the bank trying to get him on my
- 8:22roster. He's played one game thus far
- 8:25while Hintz was out and he didn't really nothing.
- 8:27He played like over 20 minutes. He had one shot in 10 days off
- 8:29wins. So I I feel like if he's going
- 8:33to get any production, it'll be power play production and maybe
- 8:36he'll look into a secondary assist or an assistant.
- 8:38Maybe he'll even get the goal. But those are the three options.
- 8:43No. I'm not breaking the bank, but
- 8:45he's definitely a streamer, yeah.
- 8:46Yeah, All right, Brad, Marshawn's day-to-day for a
- 8:49personal matter. Hope everything's OK with him.
- 8:51In the meantime, Carter Verhaeghe is taking his spot on
- 8:54Power Play 1. So this is what it takes for
- 8:56Carter Verhaeghe to get Power Play 1.
- 8:57You need to literally five of your starters to get injured,
- 9:01and then it will happen. But just in the future for any
- 9:04Veggie owners this year, assuming Veggie ends the season
- 9:07on Florida and is there again next year, don't expect enough
- 9:10power play one. If you want to draft him late
- 9:12and you know, like his even strength production, that's
- 9:14fine. But they just hate him there for
- 9:15some reason. This is like the Brandon Hagel
- 9:18of the of the Panthers, right? They just don't want to put him
- 9:20on power play 1 even though he should be there.
- 9:22So just a note in the future. I think we're already seeing
- 9:24this in the off season. So hopefully, hopefully no one
- 9:27fell for the classic trap. But anyways, for now he's there.
- 9:29I don't expect it to last though.
- 9:31If you get any window to try to sell them at all, you take that
- 9:34and you take. You take that and you run.
- 9:35Yeah, take a screenshot of that Daily Faceoff power play 1
- 9:38Carter for Hagee, send it to everyone in your league and be
- 9:40like, hey, anyone wanna trade for power?
- 9:42Play one on on Florida Carter Verhaeghe and see if you get any
- 9:45bites. That's exactly what I would do.
- 9:49OK, Dylan Strome is day-to-day with an injury.
- 9:52Connor McMichael taking his spot on line one power play 1.
- 9:55Again, it's day-to-day. So a lot of these entries are
- 9:58day-to-day and they haven't kind of released the timelines yet.
- 10:01So it's hard to make moves based on a day-to-day guy because the
- 10:04guy could just come back the next game and then the guy you
- 10:07picked up the stream or whatever just loses the spot.
- 10:10But Connor McMichael we saw was really solid last year.
- 10:12He's probably already rostered. So this is the type of thing
- 10:14that like, if you have him, it's great.
- 10:16Wallstrom is out. Yeah, if he's playing centre on
- 10:19the line 1 obviously if you like movies, had a really slow start
- 10:22to the year for what we expected from him.
- 10:24Like I think this is finally the year that maybe.
- 10:26We're only someone could have could have.
- 10:28Predicted this movie. I mean, we were mentioning how
- 10:30we were saying Ovi was a little too high, but.
- 10:33We were mentioning that someone who I will not mention was
- 10:36saying that he's gonna keep on trucking.
- 10:39But you, Yeah, Silence is notable.
- 10:45Silencing his silence is deafening.
- 10:50Is criminalizing a word? I just invented it.
- 10:54I I like it. I think it's really cool to have
- 10:57like. Incriminating shit.
- 10:59It's probably what I wanted to say.
- 11:00Yeah, yeah, that is. It's it's very interesting to
- 11:02have a winger shift to centre, especially when you're playing
- 11:05with Ovi and he played well with Ovie when they bought the line
- 11:07one opportunity. It's obviously not a big deal
- 11:10with Strong out. There's no brainer.
- 11:12Strom is their number one centre but it's kind of cool to see.
- 11:16Like for a stream I would. Be interested to see the
- 11:18possibilities there for a bit. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:20And on the topic of the Washington Capitals, PLD
- 11:24returned to the lineup but interestingly did not get his
- 11:26power play one spot back. He's lying. 2 power play, 2
- 11:28right now and it's Chicken. Finally, who's there?
- 11:32No more Sunny Milano, It's right now it's Chicken and McMichael.
- 11:37Who are the 2 fillins? And when Strum comes back, the
- 11:40question is which one of them gets bumped?
- 11:43I think when Michael gets bumped, but but we saw them kind
- 11:45of be resistant to Chicken on power play one this year for
- 11:48some reason. So it'll be interesting to see
- 11:49how that shakes out. All that to be said, I have 0
- 11:52interest in PLD this year. I don't know about you guys.
- 11:55Produce so much on this line. You always makes it produce.
- 12:00He's so good, he's so tall. You guys focus on like power
- 12:06play a lot and. All thinking it was.
- 12:08Like, but he's amazing, Protis is an amazing player, so if your
- 12:12PLD's playing with him, I'm very intrigued.
- 12:15Plus, Wilson is. He's like a size and I'm like a
- 12:18power play. Like someone's on the power
- 12:20play. They don't even exist to me
- 12:21anymore. Exactly.
- 12:23I don't know if we can technically say on the podcast,
- 12:25but. Yeah.
- 12:28That's a good point. Yeah.
- 12:31There's gonna take you through bleeping now.
- 12:32Just made the bleep like less loud.
- 12:36We are fans of these guys and For these reasons, so Protis is
- 12:40very good with PLD playing with protists.
- 12:43I think it's very intriguing. And I also think that you may
- 12:46just need to lower your volume because.
- 12:48It's not that loud. Well, every there's always a big
- 12:53echo from the basement. There.
- 12:58You didn't tell me you were torturing him too.
- 13:00I thought you were just keeping him down there.
- 13:02For she's in your basement. Stop lying.
- 13:04Yeah. Vicky makes me listen to only
- 13:07his parts of the podcast on. Repeat.
- 13:11Kevin wakes up 1 morning. He's like, Saint Louis is gonna
- 13:13win the division. Yeah.
- 13:16A lot of produce, a lot of oh God, you guys can't say that on
- 13:19the. Yeah.
- 13:21A lot of that, yeah. OK, Michael Granlund is
- 13:25day-to-day with an injury. Actually, I think they just
- 13:26mentioned that it's gonna be around 3 weeks.
- 13:29So that's a big loss for Anaheim, who was off to a really
- 13:32hot start. Grand literally had just come
- 13:34off A5 point game. So that's a really brutal Frank
- 13:37Vatrano taking his spot on power.
- 13:38Play one in the meantime. Good for you Jakey.
- 13:41And I mean I will say that once Crider comes back, it'll be
- 13:45interesting to see who gets bumped off power play one.
- 13:47I assume it will be trying to cause he's taking that net front
- 13:49spot, but it could also be Gautier, but he's been killing
- 13:52it so so that'll be interesting to see.
- 13:54But for now, Grantland out Vetrano has a spot.
- 13:57Yeah, I think Crowder coming back, Vetrano for sure gets
- 13:59bumped over Toronto has severely fallen out of favor on this
- 14:03Anaheim team. Like he's stuck on line 3.
- 14:05He's playing like 11-12 minutes a night.
- 14:07He's still somehow good for bangers, but like even last year
- 14:10he wasn't crazy for points, but I think periodic they've all
- 14:14evaporated. Like he's not he's not a points
- 14:16guy on this team anymore. You're holding him for shots and
- 14:18hits and maybe now with the power play exposure he he gets a
- 14:24more points but I can't imagine that lasts long with Crider like
- 14:26around the corner about to come. Back.
- 14:28Yeah, Honestly, this could be one of those situations where
- 14:30we're trying to get a couple of power play points, then you try
- 14:32and sell high before creditor comes back.
- 14:34Yeah, so at Jakey. Exactly it.
- 14:38But you know, on a minute per minute basis, he's like the best
- 14:42shot hit guy. Ever.
- 14:43Oh yeah, he's such a good back Cats guy.
- 14:46Yeah, you're rostering him, banger.
- 14:47League. No matter.
- 14:48What? Yeah but look I don't know if
- 14:50anyone would realistically buy. However, if somehow you can sell
- 14:54based off the power play exposure, I definitely agree
- 14:56worst case. You just people love people love
- 14:59guys who have great back hats and have had points upside in
- 15:02the past, so I feel like you can.
- 15:03Definitely actually trade him to a team that needs banger
- 15:08categories and get like a guy that used to be a waiver guy
- 15:10that is like submitted himself as like a season long hold type
- 15:14of thing. Yeah.
- 15:16Yeah. I look if he has more more time
- 15:18on ice, he'll get like six shots, six hits and like a power
- 15:21play point and then you sell them for.
- 15:22Yeah, exactly. Something to keep an eye on
- 15:25selling for anyways so. Yeah, I was just gonna say that
- 15:28actually. Would you rather have Steven
- 15:31Stamkos or Frank Vatrano? Vetrano.
- 15:35I literally would not want Stamkos on any of my teams.
- 15:38Ever we get some Stamkos questions like in the discord
- 15:40and stuff? I'm like guys.
- 15:41Like the answer is always if it's damp course or blank, the
- 15:44answer is always blank. Anyways, Ricardo Raquel had hand
- 15:50surgery in about 6 to 8 weeks. I think Ben Kendall was getting
- 15:54first crack at power play one but I don't see that necessarily
- 15:56sticking. But yeah, another.
- 16:00Team, let's go. Add it to the list of Kevins
- 16:03injuries. Brutal.
- 16:07This is nuts. I don't know.
- 16:08I don't know what you did to deserve this.
- 16:11I really like got too cocky after the draft or something
- 16:14like. You know, that's probably what
- 16:17it is. You didn't, you drafted too
- 16:18well. And the fantasy gods were like,
- 16:21we need to make the year interesting for everyone else.
- 16:23So we're gonna give him a sorry, we're gonna give him a lot of
- 16:26injuries and. And yeah, my bad, a lot of
- 16:32injuries and then see how he reacts and you still went in so
- 16:36you know, it's all good anyways, but.
- 16:37Silver lining, not just like maybe I'll get less injuries in
- 16:39the second-half of the season, but I know those things are not
- 16:41correlated, so. That's yeah, I know, but in your
- 16:44head it's like I did my time, Yeah.
- 16:47So yeah, Raquel being out again, like Pittsburgh actually has a
- 16:50solid power play, so if Kindle sticks on there and can get
- 16:54shipping some power play points, that could be an interesting
- 16:55look. But I'm not dying to pick him up
- 16:58or anything like. That I didn't realize he was an
- 16:5911th overall pick. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:02And they just brought him up. Yeah, that's that's interesting
- 17:05actually. Cause I feel like he's the type
- 17:07of player also that is susceptible to being scratched.
- 17:10So the main domain names that I have on my radar for this power
- 17:14play, one spot, because I don't think Kindle keeps it.
- 17:16Is Kris Letang meant? Yeah.
- 17:19And The thing is, I think they needed defenseman for that
- 17:23second power play unit. So unless somebody can replace
- 17:25Lang, I don't think he gets bumped up.
- 17:26Manta has been pretty solid with his updated deployment.
- 17:31So I'm thinking maybe he gets a look or Covenant just got
- 17:34brought back up. You had you had a game winner.
- 17:37Stop trying to make even a thing.
- 17:40And then he got called up. So like after the after he won
- 17:42the game for his team, he like got on a plane and he came to
- 17:44Pittsburgh. So listen, I'm just putting it
- 17:48out there. Yeah, I mean that's.
- 17:51Another possible. That's another guy who
- 17:53susceptible to be scratched though, so I'm not dying to pick
- 17:56him. Up.
- 17:56You know, they just brought him in.
- 17:57Raquel's out. They're not gonna scratch him
- 17:59now. I wouldn't be surprised.
- 18:03Listen, I want to be shocked, but we'll see.
- 18:05Yeah. I just keep an eye on, I don't
- 18:07yeah, that that fifth guy is gonna be super interchangeable
- 18:10on this power play with Raquel. Yeah, unless someone like really
- 18:13clicks there, in which case that's a very interesting
- 18:15pickup, but for. Now just keep it there.
- 18:17And then he's just gonna become an even bigger monster.
- 18:20Is actually nuts. I don't know what this guy is
- 18:22doing. It is not sustainable.
- 18:23Sell high. But yeah, if it had to be said
- 18:28anyways, this is a big one. Quinn Hughes.
- 18:30I mean, it's just day-to-day, but he's day-to-day with an
- 18:31upper body injury. In the meantime, Phillip Clinic
- 18:34is taking his spot on power play.
- 18:35One that's a massive loss for Canucks team.
- 18:37That's already pretty brutal, right?
- 18:39Like that's like. The starting to actually, like,
- 18:43get better, yeah. Like Peterson has kind of woken
- 18:48up a little bit where he's had a few.
- 18:50Pretty good. One or two good games, yeah.
- 18:52Queen has been honestly disappointing, but like Conor,
- 18:54Garland has been great, Besser has been great.
- 18:56Especially where you got them in the drafts or even picked them
- 18:58up like this was. You're getting more value than
- 19:01what you paid for them, first of all.
- 19:02Our sleeping is obviously. Our steep Gains obviously
- 19:05podcast. Had a nickel to the jar.
- 19:10Ronick honesty is very interesting because he he can be
- 19:13the type of guy that what he has good menace.
- 19:15He can really stuff the stat sheet and also like just being
- 19:17on the P1. He's not a bad defenseman.
- 19:20He's had looks there in the past and he succeeded.
- 19:21So I'm definitely interested as long as he uses that uses kind
- 19:25of squishy too. Like we're getting to the point
- 19:27where it's not these injuries kind of happen, so.
- 19:30Maybe around the family, I wouldn't.
- 19:32Be surprised if this day-to-day thing lasts 2 weeks.
- 19:35Listen, it could. Be happening with my.
- 19:36Guys back but. It definitely happens.
- 19:39And I think those are a bit more like I'd rather a guy just be
- 19:41this guy's out for two weeks right off the bat, and then the
- 19:43two weeks is up and he comes back.
- 19:45Then this like day-to-day out, day-to-day out is so
- 19:47frustrating. But anyways, yeah, that's a
- 19:49very, very strong possibility, yeah.
- 19:51Chronic Spider or if for sure yeah, uses a note Tronics there.
- 19:56There's nobody else. No, 100%, yeah, All right.
- 20:00Zach Hyman is expected to be back November 1st and will bump
- 20:04Jakey's David Tomasek off Power Play 1.
- 20:08Yeah, so I think this was a, you know, whoever quote UN quote
- 20:12risked it or, you know, sniped time in late in their drafts
- 20:16with the injury tag is getting paid off big time here.
- 20:18I don't think anyone expected him to be back this soon, but
- 20:21that's pretty huge. We'll see if he bounces back and
- 20:24comes back as his like how he was in the playoffs last year or
- 20:26if he comes back how he was in the regular season last year.
- 20:28He had a super underwhelming season.
- 20:30So but I mean this also could be a note to, you know, Bilo window
- 20:34on a lot of those Edmonton guys might be closing because I'm
- 20:37coming back like human bumping Tomashek off play 1 is a huge
- 20:40upgrade. So and him just coming back into
- 20:42even strength lineup. So I expect a lot of positive
- 20:45regression to come when he comes back for those other players I'm
- 20:48looking at like Bouchard, I mean, even Mcdavid's been not
- 20:51great. Dry settle's been solid, but
- 20:54like you expect them to be. No, I mean, it's been great.
- 20:56They expect him to be elite. So all these guys are kind of
- 20:59guys that I would, you know, I think there's a chance to buy
- 21:02low on them and it's going to run out one time and comes back.
- 21:05Yeah, the only thing with this one, the only person this may
- 21:09affect negatively is Nudge everyone else gets better,
- 21:13especially Bouchard because yeah, like I I know that doesn't
- 21:16really make much sense cause forward and defenseman.
- 21:18But we were talking about this in the last episode, Josh in the
- 21:22Bilo sell high about how it makes a lot of sense that him
- 21:27getting in the goalies phase, which Hyman does super well, one
- 21:30of the best in the league. It it's gonna make Bouchard shot
- 21:33a lot more effective in his production is going to pick up
- 21:35whether it's a goal or assist deflection.
- 21:38Tomasek does not do that as well.
- 21:40Nuge, however, has been very good this year as a mainstay
- 21:43with McDavid and I think that that could definitely change.
- 21:47I saw. I think that's.
- 21:49Right. Maybe you'd be willing to sell
- 21:50news. Yeah, I think that's a good, a
- 21:53good sell high. I mean, already he was
- 21:54overperforming what we kind of expected him to do.
- 21:56So I think he was already a good cell high, but now we have a
- 21:58clear indicator of something that may, you know, directly
- 22:00impact him negatively coming up. So I like that as a sell high
- 22:03and still Bouchard's a great buy low, although he has started
- 22:07putting up some points, so it might be.
- 22:08Harder. So I feel like people that were
- 22:10holding out for this have been reinvigorated, let's say, and
- 22:15are less likely to sell. But you never know what the slow
- 22:18start to the season. Maybe on the averages it looks
- 22:20bad. Yeah, yeah, OK UPL is healthy
- 22:25and started his first game. Expect him to split starts with
- 22:28Alex Lyon. Unless one of them way
- 22:29outperforms the other. I really expect them to be
- 22:32pretty much 5050, which is too bad because Buffalo actually
- 22:35seems like gonna be fun this year and it just.
- 22:38These tandems are killing me for fantasy value.
- 22:40You know, like it seems to be how a lot of.
- 22:42These are not the ones that needs one of these guys actually
- 22:45get starts. No, for sure.
- 22:46I mean, it's not like this year, it's not like really hurting me,
- 22:49but it's just all these teams moving towards this tandem kind
- 22:53of strategy. It really sucks for fantasy.
- 22:55I hate holding a guy who's not who's gonna play one game a
- 22:57week, you know, like it just it sucks so much it.
- 23:01Makes the other goals that are getting the bulk of the stars
- 23:03more valuable. And yes.
- 23:05And if anything, it levels the playing field for the teams in
- 23:08your league that are in the same position where everybody is kind
- 23:10of starting a tandem guy or whatever.
- 23:12Yeah, that's how I'm trying to see it.
- 23:14But I went zero G so hard. I left my drafts with 0 goalies
- 23:17on my roster. So, so, so any, any goal that
- 23:21I'm about that I'm able to pick up that can get me like 2 stars
- 23:24on the week, I'm pretty thrilled about it.
- 23:26Yeah, 100% there. And like right now.
- 23:29For awhile, just we'll put that out there.
- 23:31Me too. Yeah, I do.
- 23:32I mean, just the way he started off, this is obviously going
- 23:34into the season, everyone would choose Apple over lying.
- 23:36Absolutely. The way Lion has kind of taken
- 23:38advantage of his opportunity, I think he's definitely the 1A
- 23:41right now. And I think I'm not reading,
- 23:44this is not to say that I'm having this take because UPL
- 23:46played one game and it wasn't the best game.
- 23:48Like it was his first game of the season after he missed weeks
- 23:52with an injury. I'm not reading too much into
- 23:53that performance. Like we saw you people have
- 23:55actually good quality starts last year.
- 23:58So I'm not worried per se because of that.
- 24:00It's just mostly how well line has performed and I'm reading
- 24:04more into that than the other way around.
- 24:06But if IPL starts playing well, then it could go the other way
- 24:08around. Yeah, something to monitor for
- 24:10sure. OK Roman Yosi is week to week
- 24:13with an upper body injury, shaky.
- 24:15And I mentioned this on one of the I think it was the male or
- 24:18on the streamer episode last week, but it is new so I figured
- 24:21I'd officially mentioned in the new episode.
- 24:22Anyways, it's not related to his POTUS, which is his injury from
- 24:25last year, something postural tachycardia syndrome, stuff like
- 24:29that. But Brady Shea taking his spot
- 24:32on Power Play 1. And as we mentioned on the
- 24:34stream episode, it's very rare that a guy gets to take over
- 24:37power play 1 and I still have 0 interest in him, but breathe is
- 24:41that guy. He just does absolutely nothing
- 24:43even with the deployment. So look, if you're desperate,
- 24:47you need a defenseman who has a shot at getting you a power play
- 24:49point as a stream for the week, then you could take a shot on
- 24:52him. But honestly, I don't have much
- 24:54interest. Yeah, like just to compare this
- 24:56to the Vancouver situation, I'm way more interested in Ronak.
- 25:00Like they're both what I think bad teams, even though maybe
- 25:03Vancouver's got a little bit more promise than Nashville.
- 25:06But Ronix actually a good offensive defenseman.
- 25:08Shay is just they need someone, so he's there.
- 25:14Warm body to stand on the blue line and not touch the entire
- 25:17power plate. Well, I just spoke to Roman.
- 25:22Yosi was in the basement with me.
- 25:23Now that he's hurt and he's getting hurt.
- 25:29How big is this basement? It's huge, Jake, you really went
- 25:32all. Out.
- 25:33Wow. I don't even have a basement
- 25:36either. The craziest thing he's like.
- 25:39Yeah. Everybody wants you told Josh
- 25:41was like, maybe he's in your basement.
- 25:43He's like, I don't have a basement.
- 25:43I was like, I don't have a basement either.
- 25:45I. Then who's basement am I in the
- 25:50deal that that scene in the Harry Potter one where where
- 25:54Harry finally confronts Voldemort?
- 25:57Voldemort still in the back of a Professor Kohl's head?
- 26:00Sorry. Spoiler No kidding.
- 26:03You better. Give me the stones.
- 26:04Like I don't have the stone that he goes.
- 26:06He's lying. Or like yeah anyways.
- 26:16You're a wizard, Harry. I'm a what?
- 26:21You're not. I'm sleeping with.
- 26:25OK, just Harry. Anyways, let's let's get back on
- 26:27track, alright. Covington returned from injury
- 26:32and regained his spot on line One power play 1.
- 26:34Surprising absolutely no one. Not much to say here.
- 26:37Yeah, we thought we spoke about this and.
- 26:39And yeah, he's back. He came back earlier than
- 26:43expected. No, no more Harry Potter.
- 26:48OK, Robert Thomas is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
- 26:52Jimmy Snuggerud taking his spot on power play one.
- 26:54Although I will say those lines are very fluid and constantly
- 26:57getting blended. I will I will say though, this
- 26:59is like definitely great for Snuggerud because he was
- 27:02basically a drop before this injury.
- 27:04He was he had got bumped down on the line where he was playing
- 27:06like 10 minutes a night or less. And at that point he's not
- 27:09really valuable for fantasy. And like, yeah, he was an
- 27:12exciting prospect. Tend to call their kind of
- 27:13favorite going into the year. But given the start of the
- 27:16Blues, I think they're they're really trying to mix things up
- 27:19and he's he's falling out of favor there.
- 27:21This this Thomas injury gives life back into his fantasy
- 27:23performances for the near future until Thomas comes back.
- 27:27But even Thomas hasn't been a stud.
- 27:29So this Blues team really is struggling.
- 27:31Although Dylan Holloway three points in the A points in three
- 27:34consecutive games, so. Oh yeah.
- 27:36Maybe the bright side is finally happening for.
- 27:38Him, he heard that he was embarrassing me cause I went so
- 27:41hard. He's promoting him this summer,
- 27:42so he's a he's bouncing back just like I knew he would.
- 27:46I heard Jake you tried to sell him for more cider, which would
- 27:48have been pretty crazy, but. He did anyways.
- 27:55Lastly, but not leastly, Joseph Wall is back at practice and
- 27:58should be ready to start in a week or two.
- 28:00That's a pretty exciting if you're anyone but the Stolarz
- 28:03owner. I expect them again to be kind
- 28:07of a tandem. This is why I know Stellaris
- 28:09value jumped up with the whole wall taking a leave before the
- 28:13season started. But with those leaves, you never
- 28:15know they're gonna come back and it wasn't like a guaranteed he's
- 28:17out for the season stars as the starter.
- 28:19So I remember like stars being ranked in similar places as
- 28:22like, let's say like a camper or, or in Allmark.
- 28:25But when you have like a guy who is the clear starter versus a
- 28:28guy who starter until his buddy comes back and they can split
- 28:31the shares again, I'm always going with the the more safe
- 28:34bet. And Solaris hasn't been great
- 28:35honestly so far this season. He was really good the last two
- 28:38years, but maybe having the fewer starts was what he needed.
- 28:40Kind of like Kevin was mentioning off the pod with
- 28:42Wedgewood where he's just kind of running out of gas from
- 28:44starting like 10 straight games. So maybe some goalies just, you
- 28:47know, the lighter, lighter workload helps them have those
- 28:50elite numbers. So it's kind of obviously as an
- 28:53owner, you just want them to get all the starts and have all
- 28:55great starts, but sometimes that you're better off getting fewer
- 28:58starts if they're higher quality.
- 29:00Wool, or rather Stollers has never been like he's had enough
- 29:04of a sample size in his career to have never succeeded as like
- 29:07an actual starter. He's never really had that role.
- 29:10He's been a good tandem guy and the leaves are gonna be a decent
- 29:13team. They're gonna win the majority
- 29:14of their games. I think I'd be more.
- 29:17I don't know. I mean, it sucks, as you were
- 29:19mentioning, owning a tandem situation.
- 29:21It's very annoying to one of those guys, but I'm more excited
- 29:24about Wall. Plus, big thing here is that it
- 29:26was a personal thing. That's why he was out.
- 29:28It wasn't an injury. So there's no real risk of re
- 29:31aggravation. There's no like easing him into
- 29:32it. When he practices and he's ready
- 29:34to play, it's like a new season for him.
- 29:37Yeah, 100%. All right.
- 29:39Master, should we get to everyone's favorite portion of
- 29:43the episode? I've been looking forward to
- 29:45this. I tried to cook this week so you
- 29:47guys have to let me know how it goes.
- 29:48But OK. Hopefully you guys haven't seen
- 29:50the names. Now I didn't think, I never.
- 29:53Did Ricky always speaks? I feel like he always speaks.
- 29:56I can read. It.
- 29:57Wow, Jakey, you're a peeker. Yeah, the worst insult in.
- 30:04Bangor management history We have anything worse than this
- 30:07you're. Really better believe that
- 30:09peaker. He's a Peaky Blinder.
- 30:13He's alright. So the owner of the Peaky Point
- 30:17alright. I'm just cutting you off.
- 30:19OK. For those who are new here,
- 30:23welcome. This is the Would You rather
- 30:25section of the podcast of this episode where we cover Would You
- 30:28Rather one versus another one of each position.
- 30:32And we'll discuss and see if I can split the difference.
- 30:35I'm always trying to make JA disagree.
- 30:38So if I can get one on each side, that's a success.
- 30:41My book. So let's go with the first
- 30:45position we are covering the goalie position.
- 30:48Would you rather rest of season Logan Thompson or Darcy Kemper?
- 30:55Wow. Before you make your decision,
- 30:58look at the numbers and see if you change your.
- 30:59Mind Yeah, yeah, no, I'm looking, I'm looking right now.
- 31:03So it seems like they've got a pretty so in terms of Thompson,
- 31:07right? I already know how tempers been
- 31:08doing. He's on my team.
- 31:09But in terms of Thompson, it seems like they've got a decent
- 31:12schedule of he starts two games and then gets one game and then
- 31:15two in one. So that's not too bad.
- 31:17Whereas Kemper expect to get more starts.
- 31:19So let's give Kemper the edge on starts.
- 31:21Thompson's games, though, have been absolutely unreal.
- 31:24It seems like he hasn't let in more two goals in a single game.
- 31:27And going into the season I was a big Washington doubter that
- 31:31they would repeat like they did last year and I was not really a
- 31:35huge ally believer. I just thought they would do
- 31:37similar to last year. They were really good so far.
- 31:40Washington's overperforming compared to my expectations, and
- 31:42LA's really underperforming. All that to say, I probably have
- 31:47to give the edge to Thompson despite wanting to give the
- 31:50extra Kemper. I still don't think I would do
- 31:52though. Like if someone offered me one
- 31:53for one, I'd probably keep Kemper.
- 31:55I just like the volume and I think that the potential for
- 31:57quality being the same is there. But for now, you gotta go
- 32:00Thompson with what the numbers he's putting up.
- 32:03So I feel like Kevin thought I was going to say Thompson.
- 32:06You were gonna say Kemper. I was ready to say Kemper.
- 32:08And then I looked into it and I'm like, you just can't not go
- 32:11with Thompson at this. Point Yeah, these are unreal.
- 32:15He's only lost one game this year.
- 32:16He's gonna lose more than that, but a lot of games where he's
- 32:20only letting in one or two goals, which is impressive.
- 32:23And I will say, like Lindgren, besides that shut out that first
- 32:26game of the season that he played, he hasn't been
- 32:29necessarily fantastic. He led into seven goals against.
- 32:33Yeah, he let in seven goals against Ottawa, so that's not
- 32:36great, but. Let's be really popular right
- 32:40now among goalies is letting in a touchdown against auto.
- 32:43Yeah, back to my games, the first time since like the 50s or
- 32:46something. That's crazy.
- 32:48But yeah, I think everyone's on the Thompson train.
- 32:51Yeah, it's not that Kemper's gonna be nearly this bad,
- 32:54though. And Thompson gonna get worse.
- 32:56It's like it's gonna even out, like he's gonna pick it up and
- 33:01Thompson's gonna just slow down for sure.
- 33:03But I still think Washington is a good team.
- 33:07So I and I'm just more confident in the way he's been playing.
- 33:10It's enough of a sample size to notice somewhat of a trend.
- 33:15So I think that. The moves that, like the moves
- 33:20that defence that LA made over the course of the offseason, are
- 33:23clearly pretty detrimental. I think losing Gavrilov was
- 33:25really big. Bringing in Code C has pretty
- 33:28big losing spins. So I think they definitely made
- 33:32some really bad moves. Ken Holland is a master class of
- 33:35bad Gming. And I'm not just saying that
- 33:38I've Kemper and I'm upset about it.
- 33:39But no, I think Kemper's gonna be still really, really solid
- 33:42this year. But you gotta go Thompson.
- 33:44Let's do the next one. Oh, wait.
- 33:45Sorry. Kevin, before going to the next
- 33:46one, I just feel like it's worth mentioning when you're looking
- 33:50at goalies, we're always kind of trying to rank them against each
- 33:52other, right? Because it's like so easy to
- 33:53just like you're comparing the same categories and every goalie
- 33:56like should be good at the same thing.
- 33:58So it's easy to kind of make the translation, but when it comes
- 34:02to these guys, I feel like Logan Thompson rest of season could be
- 34:06a, you know, he could be a top 6 to like 12 goalie.
- 34:10I think rest of season and I think Kempers range is more like
- 34:13top 10 to 18 at this point. So, you know, the range of
- 34:18outcomes overlaps a little bit, but I think Logan Thompson has
- 34:22the higher ceiling. That's kind of how I view it.
- 34:24At this point, I will say I do think that Kemper, like will get
- 34:28because he's gonna have more starts.
- 34:29Also looking at these, Logan Thompson starts four of his six
- 34:33games. He's made fewer than 20 saves,
- 34:36not because he's letting in a lot of goals, just because
- 34:38they're letting, they're letting a very few shots against.
- 34:41So if you have saved us a category, Kempers gonna have way
- 34:43more saves than Thompson. And I think that with the extra
- 34:46starts, I don't, I still don't believe in Washington that much.
- 34:50And I think that with the extra starts, Kemper could get at
- 34:53least as many wins as Thompson. So I like Kemper more for
- 34:56volumes Cats but but Thompson more for rate stuff.
- 35:01All right #2 we're looking at the defenseman position.
- 35:05This is a spicy 1 I feel like but Darnell Nurse or Seth Jones
- 35:10rest of season now Josh is that's a Seth.
- 35:14Jones owner. Look, I knew I knew that nurse
- 35:17was killing it at the back hats. She's really killing it like
- 35:21this is like, these are some monster back hats.
- 35:23And it's funny because I actually thought that he got
- 35:25taken way too early in our draft.
- 35:26I know and living up to the highest.
- 35:29Performing yeah, I still I'm trying to be objective here.
- 35:34I still gotta go Jones. You just gotta go with the like,
- 35:37OK, maybe it's a different archetype, right.
- 35:39You've got the banger defenseman versus the power play 1
- 35:41defenseman. Jones is super underperforming.
- 35:43Nurses were over performing right now.
- 35:45But the way I see it, Jones has in the past been a guy who can
- 35:49put up at least decent bangers categories.
- 35:51And the fact is that there's so much upside there with being
- 35:54power play one on Florida. Florida's off to kind of a messy
- 35:57start right now with all their injuries.
- 36:00But first of all, their injuries are going to come back other
- 36:02than Barkov. So if you have the patience, I
- 36:05think could Chuck coming back. Obviously that's a far away, but
- 36:08I think that's going to be a big one.
- 36:09But also just other injuries that they've accumulated.
- 36:11And also, I think they're really blending the power play lines,
- 36:14trying to find what clicks because it's been really bad so
- 36:16far. And the one kind of mainstay on
- 36:19the power play is Jones. I mean also Reinhart.
- 36:22Obviously, but doing well. Well, it wasn't, but I think
- 36:26they found a mix that they kind of like.
- 36:28I think they finally put Samus Savage on power play one which I
- 36:30think should have been from the beginning and they did that.
- 36:34She's got 2 power play assists 2 games ago.
- 36:36So I think it's going to, I think it's going to come is the
- 36:39same thing with our Reinhart kind of buy low right where he's
- 36:41also not been performing. I mean I think the whole team
- 36:43and it's not been performing. Pretty much the only guy
- 36:45performing on that team is discovered I feel like.
- 36:47But. But yeah I know.
- 36:49So I gotta go Jones just because the upside.
- 36:52But that's not to take away from how unreal Nurse has been and
- 36:54how bad Jones has been. I'm going to stick with Jones as
- 36:58well because there's like just really no offensive potential
- 37:03for Nurse to be succeeding. Long Last year, they got the
- 37:06same amount of They were averaging around the same amount
- 37:08of points. Just half of Jones's points were
- 37:10power play points and Nurse had 00 power plant.
- 37:13Exposure How long of that season was he on Florida?
- 37:18I'm in passive traded line, right?
- 37:19So it wasn't the story of the season, but wasn't.
- 37:22Enough. Exactly.
- 37:24But it's like he was on Chicago, like the vast majority of the
- 37:28season, who was just completely offensively irrelevant.
- 37:32And I mean, look, this year, five points in 10 games so far,
- 37:36Not bad. And the back categories for
- 37:37Jones have not been there at all.
- 37:39So that's we're kind of also giving it to him that usually
- 37:43those are significantly better than they are.
- 37:45But what if this year, with all the.
- 37:47Pressure to be honest. More tactics.
- 37:49Or. Hits are right in line with what
- 37:51he's done in the past, it's just he's missing like one block and
- 37:54half a shot. So obviously like you want that
- 37:56to come back. It's all I think it's.
- 37:58If you look at this game log, you're you're getting a lot of
- 38:00zeros. Then you get like one game that.
- 38:02Makes up for sure. That's not really. 100%.
- 38:06Hello I'm speaking with. John pointing you spin, but I
- 38:09think just the upside is too high.
- 38:10Exactly, Kevin, I, I think I'm going Darnell Nurse.
- 38:15I think, I think the category converges.
- 38:17Lori is elite and I'd rather have that on my team right now.
- 38:22Obviously it depends in your, in your defensive room, right?
- 38:25Like if you already have two category guys and and you have
- 38:28two offensive minded guys, like I'd rather have nurse, sorry,
- 38:32I'd rather have Jones. But if you like one-on-one,
- 38:34you're starting the foundation of your team.
- 38:35I think right now I'm going to nurse.
- 38:39Alright this next one is spicy AF.
- 38:43I was I was looking forward to talking about this one the most,
- 38:45but it's Mitch Marner or Matt Bold the rest of the season.
- 38:51Wow, I see you're smarter. I mean, we didn't mention, we
- 38:54didn't mention him on the bio episode this last episode, but
- 38:58Jake mentioned him as a target for Kempe and I thought that was
- 39:02a great point because Marner has not been doing too hot lately
- 39:07separated. From Michael Doing, he's doing
- 39:10exactly what I kind of expect him to be doing.
- 39:12Like he didn't take like that big step up that we had the
- 39:15potential of it, but he's pretty much in line for his regular
- 39:18points, right? He's over a point per game.
- 39:20He could he could step it up a little bit, but but he's over a
- 39:23point per game. And we always know that he
- 39:25doesn't really shoot mean shots somehow went down, but he's
- 39:28still doing like 1.5 versus like 2.1 last year.
- 39:31So. This was a straight not losing
- 39:33back-to-back games. You're really not a fan of that?
- 39:36100% yeah. And Boldly Like was off to the
- 39:39blistering start. But he's also slowed down a bit.
- 39:41But I mean, you could still she couldn't go up from where he
- 39:43was. Yeah, no, that's very fair.
- 39:47Honestly, I think at this point in time, I probably go with
- 39:51Boldy and I think that might be that might be a hot take, but
- 39:54there's a reason why I was kind of avoiding Marner in the second
- 39:57round of our draft. It's just I hate like.
- 40:00He's so good at points, but he literally does nothing else.
- 40:04I like my points guys to also shoot boldy shoots elite
- 40:07amounts. Mars gonna get more points than
- 40:09body. I'm not I I think that's an easy
- 40:11assumption to make, but I don't think.
- 40:12I don't think it's enough off. Maybe not easy, but I think it's
- 40:15a fair assumption to make. But I don't think it's gonna be
- 40:18far enough off to make up for the literally like three shots
- 40:21on goal difference that body is getting.
- 40:23I do think the point discrepancy is going to be 15 at the end of
- 40:29the year. And I agree it's not enough to
- 40:31make up for the show discrepancy.
- 40:32If it was like, you know, 30, like it was closer to last year
- 40:36right, then that's one thing. But Mitch is not playing with
- 40:39Michael. That was a big thing, that.
- 40:41People he'll end up back with equal at some point.
- 40:44This is not gonna stay the whole season.
- 40:46Yeah, back and forth. Just not like, like to Jake's
- 40:49point, like we thought maybe they would be glued together.
- 40:51The fact that they're not playing together now, even
- 40:53though it'll go back and forth, it just shows that it's not a
- 40:55lock. And as soon as they're not glued
- 40:57together, he goes two games straight with zeros.
- 40:59So maybe that just leads to the fact that maybe they'll put him
- 41:02back because they want production out of him.
- 41:04Or maybe they're just trying to like blend the talent and on
- 41:08multiple lines. But I'm doing something with my
- 41:10body. I feel like, I feel like his
- 41:12floor is just so safe to season and he produces even without the
- 41:17talent around him. And Mitch, I feel like, yeah,
- 41:21he's an elite passer and he's great for assists, but he's not.
- 41:24He's he's definitely susceptible to the games where you know,
- 41:29you'd rather have anybody else on your roster.
- 41:31So yeah, but the ceiling is super high.
- 41:34So obviously that's why it was a second round, third round kind
- 41:36of guy. But Boldly is next year is going
- 41:39to be a second round guy feels like.
- 41:41Yeah. I I also feel like Boulder's
- 41:44shooting percentage has been like quite low this year.
- 41:48Like he's bound. That's positive.
- 41:49Report like five goals in five games.
- 41:51Yeah. He's just.
- 41:53Rocketing off shots, like four shots on goal of game.
- 41:55Crazy. Yeah, he had one with 10,
- 41:57another with 7. Like this is crazy.
- 41:58And he's shooting under 12% this year.
- 42:00I think he can. Even if he goes to 13 like that
- 42:04would be a big uptick. I'm gonna go with body.
- 42:06It's safer the better standalone value.
- 42:08I thought this was gonna be spicier than it actually was.
- 42:12More like I don't feel comfortable saying it.
- 42:15I think it's the right pick, but it feels good to say for sure.
- 42:17Try not to have any recency bias out into it, but like just
- 42:20bullies. Bristol Machine.
- 42:22All right #4 looking at left wingers, two of my favorite guys
- 42:27are Timmy Panarin or Jason Robertson.
- 42:29Rest of season. Wow, that's crazy.
- 42:33Yeah, so I want to start with this one because I I think that
- 42:37I'm the least emotionally attached to the Rangers.
- 42:42That is. True, and I'm going to
- 42:44objectively say Panarin because I think it's like really a
- 42:49matter of time before they figure things out.
- 42:51It just doesn't make sense. Everybody's been not good.
- 42:55Calgary demolished them. WTF.
- 43:00I thought that was slowly up for like finally they can get their
- 43:03groove back and it's like the team has lost seven straight and
- 43:05then they go home to five one. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:08And I'm actually pretty impressed with Robertson has
- 43:10been doing like he's, I think at this point we were too low on
- 43:13him in the off season. So it's.
- 43:15Nice, we all know who have been done.
- 43:19That a girl, you're words, you're you're underselling.
- 43:24Understand exactly. So yeah, and Panarin shots have
- 43:27been there, the minutes have been there.
- 43:29He's the focal point on offence. And look, we don't really think
- 43:31about it as actively. It's more like, oh, he's playing
- 43:35with this person or whatever. Like that means he's going to
- 43:37get more production. But Trocheck being there no
- 43:39matter where Panera slots, it's a matchup thing.
- 43:42If Panera gets easier matchups, even for 10% of the game,
- 43:46there's a higher chance scores, he's going to pick it up.
- 43:48So I'm going. To go, I also think that
- 43:51honestly have incredible chemistry and it's just bad
- 43:54timing because before the season started, like both Panera and JT
- 43:58missed time. So in the beginning they had the
- 44:00struggles because they missed the training camp and then
- 44:02Trojan gets hurt. They they like break the rust
- 44:05off. So now they're like fine from
- 44:07after training camp, but now he's lost like his duo.
- 44:10So he's going to he's trying to learn chemistry with with two
- 44:13other guys on the fly. I think I've been watching a lot
- 44:17of Rangers games because I'm heavily invested in my fantasy
- 44:19teams. So I'm just saying like Panera
- 44:21is still the guy like he's still the Talisman on this team.
- 44:24It feels like him more than ET if anything, and the line that
- 44:28he's on are the lines that are throwing out in the crucial
- 44:30situations. And I think it's just a matter
- 44:32of time, especially with Trocheck on his way back.
- 44:34And then next week or two, most likely, I think that's going to
- 44:38be a catalyst for this Rangers to kind of like turn things
- 44:40around. But that's not to take away from
- 44:42Jason Robertson, who honestly, like he's definitely surpassed
- 44:45everything that I thought he was going to do this season thus
- 44:47far. Obviously, this season is long
- 44:49and let's see if we can keep it up.
- 44:51But we're getting the floor with Panarin right now and we're
- 44:53still, we're seeing flashes here, but a lot of like, you
- 44:56know, charts and nothing to show for it.
- 44:58So I I'm still going Panera and currently, but I would not be
- 45:02surprised if by the end of the year like maybe it's closer than
- 45:05we expect. Yeah, yeah, I'm going to Panera
- 45:08in as well. I think if Panarin wasn't
- 45:10shooting, I would go Robertson. But the fact that Planarians is
- 45:13still at a 2.9 shots per game, I know Roberson at 4.3, but that's
- 45:16not sustainable. Yeah.
- 45:17So I think that's a big indicator for me that Pan's
- 45:20gonna bounce back. Alright, last one, talking about
- 45:25the sinners, baby. The bread makers, my boy, you
- 45:29know what's going to be. Coming in this every.
- 45:31Time Dylan or every week Dylan Larkin.
- 45:36I'm going to go politically correct on this one and simply
- 45:39choose Dylan. That was not an.
- 45:43Option going. I'm going Larkin despite loving
- 45:47cousins like Kevin does. OK, But yeah, no, I mean, I
- 45:55think it would have been a harder would you rather if you
- 45:57chose a really elite guy who's not also performing at an elite
- 46:00level, But like, it's just been absolutely insane.
- 46:03And I know that Cousins has been absolutely insane.
- 46:05When you've got two guys who are both killing it.
- 46:07I'm gonna go with the guy who going into the season, I had
- 46:09higher expectations for. So all that being said, they're
- 46:13both playing sick, but I gotta go Larkin.
- 46:16Yeah, I think I agree, but I'm super high on Cousins.
- 46:21He's. So definitely don't agree SO.
- 46:23Yeah, we know. Yeah.
- 46:25No, I mean he's just a more well-rounded player.
- 46:27Cousins for sure. There's no doubt about it.
- 46:29The bank accounts are sick, the points are amazing.
- 46:31Like he's sick but Larkin just has that higher point ceiling I
- 46:35think. And that's what working Larkin
- 46:38has hasn't put up. Last year I feel like was great.
- 46:42We thought highly of him. He was not even a point per game
- 46:44last year. Kevin, this is like you're the
- 46:48biggest guy of I'm not saying power play points versus points.
- 46:51Constance is averaging a point per game.
- 46:52Guess how many power play points per game, Jakey. .2. .7 power
- 47:00play points per game. That is the most unsustainable
- 47:03thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 47:05Really. That's not it drops to a .4 or
- 47:09five power play points per game, which is what, A McDavid,
- 47:12McKinnon, whatever those guys end with .4 or five power play
- 47:15points per game, then that's losing out on .25 points.
- 47:19That brings him to a .75 points per game.
- 47:24Well, Kevin, this is amazing, but there's no way.
- 47:28This Ottawa power play has currently been thus far in the
- 47:32season. We're almost a month in the best
- 47:34in the league and I think with the pieces they have on this
- 47:37power play, we can expect them to be a top five power play for
- 47:40the rest of the season. I feel like that.
- 47:41You're not gonna put up .7 points.
- 47:43Per game? Obviously not, but.
- 47:47He's averaging point 3.3 even strength points per game.
- 47:51Yeah, but also the lines because Brady has been heard and people
- 47:54have been missing time. Batherson wasn't there to start
- 47:56the season. No, I don't wanna I.
- 47:58Don't write. Your cousin sprayed.
- 47:59He's sick but like. I think Dylan Larkin season with
- 48:02.9 points per game. I think Cousins will be over .8
- 48:07points per game. I think the shots will be very
- 48:09close and I think they'll call them guess 3, three extra hits a
- 48:12game. And I think the power play
- 48:14points are, they're probably around .35 point 4.
- 48:19Yeah. So I would say, let's say power
- 48:21play points is pretty similar points.
- 48:23I'm giving the edge to Larkin pins, I'm giving the edge to
- 48:25Larkin shots, I'm giving the edge Larkin faceoff wins is a
- 48:28huge edge for Larkin and then hits is a massive edge for
- 48:31Cousins. So it's it's close, but I'm
- 48:35definitely going Larkin. He just is better in too many of
- 48:38the categories that despite Cousins being so much better in
- 48:40hits, I don't think it makes up for all the other categories
- 48:42where Larkin is better. All right, well, we disagree.
- 48:45And you was gonna be on the island on this one.
