- 0:00Speaker 1: Back with Jim more of the Yukon Football Coaches Show
- 0:02Speaker 1: at Mike Chrispino. One other guy I wanted to mention
- 0:05Speaker 1: from Delaware. He's a senior safety. Where's number two? My
- 0:09Speaker 1: son Pollard? I think that way. That's the way he
- 0:11Speaker 1: pronounces his first name. He had a big day against
- 0:13Speaker 1: Colorado out there in Boulder, six tackles. He's Norwalk, Connecticut guy.
- 0:18Speaker 1: You know, kind of those guys Jim, that you you
- 0:20Speaker 1: have on your roster too.
- 0:22Speaker 2: He kind of.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Made the team as a special teams guy, right, He
- 0:26Speaker 1: blocked kicks, he kicked returns, and now he's playing safety
- 0:30Speaker 1: as a defensive guy. So there's a lot of the
- 0:33Speaker 1: talented players on these rosters.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I have a lot of respect for guys like that.
- 0:37Speaker 2: You know, they did the hard way and that shows
- 0:40Speaker 2: their resilience and toughness. And he's a really good player,
- 0:43Speaker 2: Connecticut kid. So this game, you know, I think every
- 0:46Speaker 2: game probably means a lot to a guy like that,
- 0:47Speaker 2: but maybe there's added significance. I don't know. I want
- 0:50Speaker 2: to I don't want to speculate what's in his head,
- 0:52Speaker 2: but you know, I love the players that they had
- 0:55Speaker 2: to fight, man, they had to they had to, they
- 0:58Speaker 2: had to go through some stuff to get or they are.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You know, it shows shows the type of end that
- 1:03Speaker 2: they are. So you know, you always like, you always
- 1:06Speaker 2: like competing against guys like that, you know, because there's
- 1:09Speaker 2: just there's a respect factor that makes it more important
- 1:12Speaker 2: when you, you know, or if you can have some
- 1:15Speaker 2: success because you know that you know, a guy like
- 1:17Speaker 2: that's going to be ready to roll.
- 1:18Speaker 1: A couple more minutes with the Jim Moore, the head
- 1:21Speaker 1: football coach. You mentioned Delaware last segment. We were talking
- 1:25Speaker 1: about their history. FCS school a lot of years, won
- 1:29Speaker 1: a lot of games. Every time you talk about FCS football,
- 1:33Speaker 1: you're talking about Delaware and a few others making the
- 1:36Speaker 1: transition to FBS. What are they going through do you
- 1:39Speaker 1: think in terms of elevating themselves talent wise and what
- 1:42Speaker 1: they're trying to accomplish.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know. I mean, I haven't had to
- 1:48Speaker 2: do that, but I think whatever they're doing, it's working,
- 1:52Speaker 2: you know. I mean, you see it on film. You
- 1:54Speaker 2: see the way they play. You know, I can't even
- 1:56Speaker 2: speculate as to what it's like for them because I
- 1:58Speaker 2: don't know, but I know what I see and I
- 2:02Speaker 2: see Like I said, a discipline, tough, hard nosed football
- 2:06Speaker 2: team with a lot of talented players is very well coached.
- 2:09Speaker 1: They are going to be jacked up right at home.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I just want us to be jacked
- 2:14Speaker 2: up on the right. I can't. I don't spend a
- 2:17Speaker 2: whole lot of time worrying about our opponent's psyche. That's
- 2:19Speaker 2: their coach's responsibility and their responsibility. I think any time
- 2:23Speaker 2: I spend worrying about them is time taking away from
- 2:26Speaker 2: worrying about you know, and not worry is not the
- 2:28Speaker 2: right word, but concentrating and focusing on what we need
- 2:31Speaker 2: to do. And that's the most important thing I can do.
- 2:34Speaker 1: The energy you will need to win on the road
- 2:37Speaker 1: this week, how would you rate it? Is it going
- 2:39Speaker 1: to have to be better than it was a Syracuse
- 2:42Speaker 1: or yep?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Do you think it has to be notably better? It
- 2:46Speaker 2: has to be. It has to be a giant uptick,
- 2:49Speaker 2: and it has to be that way every week, Homer,
- 2:50Speaker 2: on the road. Every week, you have to get better
- 2:52Speaker 2: every week. You have to play better every week. You
- 2:54Speaker 2: have to play with more energy and more resolve and
- 2:56Speaker 2: more tenacity. Man, that's ball that's competing you know you are.
- 3:00Speaker 2: You need to always be on an upward trajectory.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Always at quick final thought, we're going to talk to
- 3:05Speaker 1: ty Chan here in just a moment. You read shirt
- 3:07Speaker 1: junior offensive lineman, came from Notre Dame three years there.
- 3:11Speaker 1: How's his transition been to Yukon football coming from South Bend.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You know, I would put him in the category of
- 3:19Speaker 2: Ray Melo. An amazing young man. Just just great to
- 3:24Speaker 2: be around, you know, serious, good natured, dependable, trustworthy, consider it,
- 3:32Speaker 2: hard working, tough, you know, new scheme for him doing
- 3:36Speaker 2: a really good job in there for us. Takes it
- 3:39Speaker 2: very seriously. He's another guy, you know, really happy that
- 3:43Speaker 2: we were able to get someone at his caliber both
- 3:45Speaker 2: as a player and a person on our football team.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Well, ty Chan will be with us, Ramelo Murphy, Jim
- 3:51Speaker 1: Mora of course joining us every Tuesday in the Yukon
- 3:54Speaker 1: Football Coaches Show. Jim, best of luck this week as
