- 1:01Speaker 1: Since I was a kid, I've always loved Advent calendars
- 1:04Speaker 1: where you open the little door and find a small
- 1:07Speaker 1: surprise as you count down the days in December leading
- 1:10Speaker 1: up to Christmas. Well, this year we have the twenty
- 1:14Speaker 1: four Tastes of Christmas Advent Calendar, a candy tasting version.
- 1:19Speaker 1: My son opens the little door each day to reveal
- 1:23Speaker 1: that day's treat. They countdown to Christmas. Never tasted so sweet.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Now let's get to Sunday's game. On an eighty one
- 1:33Speaker 1: degree day in Miami, the Bengals scored first late in
- 1:36Speaker 1: the first quarter when Tyler Boyd took a short pass
- 1:39Speaker 1: from Brandon Allen and turned it into the longest play
- 1:43Speaker 1: of his NFL career. Third down in two, Cincinnati from
- 1:46Speaker 1: their own twenty eight yard line. Allen, in the shotgun
- 1:49Speaker 1: against the snap, throws quick boy down the side, cross midfield,
- 1:54Speaker 1: met them bowing it you go all the way, cuts
- 1:57Speaker 1: inside of the table and sits into the end zone.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Touchdown Tyler Boyd touchdown, Cincinnati seventy two yards. Unfortunately, it
- 2:07Speaker 1: was Boyd's only catch of the day. The Bengals had
- 2:11Speaker 1: a seven to three lead with about a minute to
- 2:13Speaker 1: go in the first half and had the ball at
- 2:15Speaker 1: the Miami twenty yard line on third down in ten.
- 2:18Speaker 1: They knew that even if they couldn't get a first down,
- 2:21Speaker 1: they were well within easy field goal range for Randy
- 2:25Speaker 1: Bullock in the shotgun. Allen gets the football looks right now.
- 2:28Speaker 1: He rolls fires toward the sideline and it's too high,
- 2:31Speaker 1: incomplete and a little extra push on boy a swipe
- 2:35Speaker 1: by Howard, and it continues on the sideline just outside
- 2:39Speaker 1: the fifteen yard line. That swite could easily be a
- 2:42Speaker 1: fifteen yard penalty. It would be half the distance to
- 2:45Speaker 1: the goal here. And the referees are talking this over,
- 2:47Speaker 1: but no flags yet. Zach Taylor's ran down there at
- 2:51Speaker 1: the officially, so are you kidding me? You didn't see
- 2:53Speaker 1: him swat Tyler Boyd in the face mask. He took
- 2:56Speaker 1: a shot at him. He took a left handed punch
- 2:59Speaker 1: out him, took a swat because Tyler Boyd gets up,
- 3:01Speaker 1: goes face mask to face mask, he swats at him
- 3:04Speaker 1: with the left hand and then comes back at him again.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So Zach Taylor saw that. Zach Taylor saying where's the flag?
- 3:11Speaker 1: He's doing a play by playing the officials ear and
- 3:13Speaker 1: finally the flag comes in and are they going to
- 3:15Speaker 1: penalize the Bengals bench? Oh, they're gonna call it him
- 3:19Speaker 1: the Bengals. That makes it a more interesting field goal,
- 3:23Speaker 1: it sure does. Let's unpack what happened. Tyler Boyd got
- 3:28Speaker 1: pushed in the back late when he was going out
- 3:30Speaker 1: of bounds. He took exception and got up and said
- 3:33Speaker 1: something face mask to face mask to Dolphin's cornerback Xavian Howard.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Howard threw a punch that didn't really connect. Boyd retaliated
- 3:43Speaker 1: with a punch that also didn't really connect. The game
- 3:47Speaker 1: officials apparently only saw the retaliation punch and hit Boyd
- 3:51Speaker 1: with a fifteen yard penalty, but the replay officials watching
- 3:55Speaker 1: in New York saw both punches and ejected Boyd and Howard.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And even though they saw Howard throw the first punch,
- 4:04Speaker 1: the crew in New York can only rule on ejections.
- 4:07Speaker 1: They cannot ask the officials on site to throw another penalty.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Flag that turned a thirty eight yard field goal attempt
- 4:15Speaker 1: by Bullock into a fifty three yard try. Clark Harris
- 4:19Speaker 1: the snap, Huber to hold off the left. Hash looking
- 4:23Speaker 1: in now getting the snap, it's high place down Bell
- 4:26Speaker 1: and Wine Lord wide of the post wide left. You
- 4:30Speaker 1: just knew what was going to happen after that, right,
- 4:33Speaker 1: The Dolphins picked up a couple of first downs and
- 4:35Speaker 1: kicked a forty eight yard field goal on the final
- 4:38Speaker 1: play of the half. To make it Cincinnati seven Miami six.
- 4:42Speaker 1: The Bengals had the lead, but it sure didn't feel
- 4:45Speaker 1: like it, and sure enough, the second half was thoroughly
- 4:49Speaker 1: dominated by the Dolphins. Three receivers set with smythe motioning
- 4:54Speaker 1: talking about Lowa takes throws back of the end zone,
- 4:57Speaker 1: it is Cark Gisicky back of the end zone over
- 5:01Speaker 1: Sims for eight Dolphins touchdown. That touchdown passed to Mike Kasicki,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and a field goal by Jason Sanders gave Miami a
- 5:09Speaker 1: sixteen seven lead going to the final quarter. In the
- 5:12Speaker 1: third quarter, the Bengals had minus four yards of offense.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Here's Zach Taylor, there's a third quarter in the Nut Show,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know. And they came out and had three straight
- 5:22Speaker 1: scorn drives, and we had some three and outs, And
- 5:25Speaker 1: I gotta put our guys in a better position, too.
- 5:27Speaker 1: We gotta make some plays that are there. But at
- 5:29Speaker 1: the same time, you know, I gotta be accountable for
- 5:31Speaker 1: them and put us in some better spots. But you know,
- 5:34Speaker 1: we played the game how we expected to be playing
- 5:35Speaker 1: the first half, and then weren't good enough in the
- 5:38Speaker 1: third quarter, and that's where I got away. Miami added
- 5:40Speaker 1: a field goal early in the fourth to make it
- 5:42Speaker 1: nineteen seven, and while the Dolphins didn't score again, things
- 5:46Speaker 1: got much worse. First, Jonah Williams suffered a knee injury
- 5:51Speaker 1: and was taken off the field on a cart. On
- 5:54Speaker 1: the very next play, Mike Thomas hit punt returner Jachim
- 5:58Speaker 1: Grant before he had a chance to catch the ball,
- 6:01Speaker 1: drawing a catch interference penalty. Earlier in the game, Thomas
- 6:05Speaker 1: was penalized for unnecessary roughness for another hit on Grant
- 6:10Speaker 1: that caused Dolphins players and coaches to come charging off
- 6:14Speaker 1: the field from their sideline, leading to three more ejections
- 6:18Speaker 1: for fighting, Devonte Parker and Mac Hollins for Miami and
- 6:22Speaker 1: Sean Williams for the Bengals. After the games, Zach Taylor
- 6:26Speaker 1: defended Mike Thomas for the two hits on Grant that
- 6:30Speaker 1: resulted in penalties. Oh, we'll watch the first one first
- 6:33Speaker 1: of all, and then the second one. He got there
- 6:35Speaker 1: a little too soon. I mean, that's that's obvious. We
- 6:37Speaker 1: know that. But again that that returner is a heck
- 6:40Speaker 1: for returner. That's the number one point returner unit in
- 6:42Speaker 1: the league. He does not fair to catch the ball,
- 6:44Speaker 1: you know, And so you've got to put pressure on him.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Of course, we don't want to do it before before
- 6:48Speaker 1: the catch point. We want to play within the rules.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But our guys were playing hard. It was unfortunate. You
- 6:52Speaker 1: hope he's fine, but again there's no will will there
- 6:56Speaker 1: by Mike Thomas, I can promise you that he's just
- 6:57Speaker 1: he's just being a gunner and trying to go down
- 6:59Speaker 1: there and make a play. The rest of the game
- 7:01Speaker 1: was basically an assault on Bengals quarterbacks. Brandon Allen got
- 7:05Speaker 1: sacked five times and had to be helped off the
- 7:08Speaker 1: field with about seven and a half minutes to go. Fortunately,
- 7:11Speaker 1: he only had the win knocked out of him. Ryan
- 7:14Speaker 1: Finley came in and promptly got sacked on his second
- 7:17Speaker 1: play as Miami finished with six sacks and eleven quarterback hits.
- 7:23Speaker 1: The Bengals managed just twenty five yards of offense in
- 7:26Speaker 1: the second half as the Dolphins scored the game's final
- 7:29Speaker 1: nineteen points in a nineteen seven win. Oh. I think
- 7:33Speaker 1: our guys got put him some tough spots, you know.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And you know those are two core guys that got
- 7:38Speaker 1: keeped out of the game, Sean Williams and and Tyler
- 7:42Speaker 1: Boyd you know, and again, we don't ever want that.
- 7:45Speaker 1: We don't ever want to throw a point. We need
- 7:46Speaker 1: those guys. We're counting on those guys, and everyone's got
- 7:49Speaker 1: to maintain their composure, myself included. So we just got
- 7:52Speaker 1: to look at what happened. But but it was I know,
- 7:54Speaker 1: they were both very frustrated with what was going on,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, and Sean got hurt there on a blindside
- 7:58Speaker 1: block and TV like you got hit way laid out
- 8:01Speaker 1: of a ounce, you know. And so but again we
- 8:03Speaker 1: got to maintain our composure and be better than that.
- 8:05Speaker 1: What did you tell you football team after the game?
- 8:07Speaker 1: I mean, I'm proud of the effort they gave, you know,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and they they're playing hard and had some calls go
- 8:12Speaker 1: against them, you know that that we'll have to look
- 8:15Speaker 1: at it, to be quite frank, But um, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I thought our guys were playing hard and got putting
- 8:20Speaker 1: a tough spot there. The Dolphins are eight and four
- 8:22Speaker 1: and a half game behind the Bills in the AFC East.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Those two teams meet in the final game of the
- 8:27Speaker 1: regular season. The Bengals are two nine and one and
- 8:32Speaker 1: currently have the third pick in next year's draft. Now
- 8:37Speaker 1: time for postgame analysis with my broadcast partner Dave Lapham.
- 8:41Speaker 1: All Right, lap nineteen seven the final score in Miami today.
- 8:44Speaker 1: My question is who had a worse day, Ron Torbert's
- 8:47Speaker 1: officiating crew or the Bengals O line point. That's a
- 8:52Speaker 1: that's a good question. I'll tell you what. The league
- 8:55Speaker 1: can't be happy. I mean, the officiating crew lost control
- 8:59Speaker 1: of that football game and they had a terrible day.
- 9:02Speaker 1: They really did trying to figure out, you know, who
- 9:05Speaker 1: to assess penalties on, who to eject. I mean, the
- 9:08Speaker 1: league office had to get involved, obviously, and I've never
- 9:11Speaker 1: ever been in a football game there was where there
- 9:14Speaker 1: was a twenty to twenty five minute delay regarding that
- 9:18Speaker 1: who to penalize, who to eject. Unbelievable. I mean, it's
- 9:21Speaker 1: just people don't tune in by television or radio to
- 9:26Speaker 1: listen or hear or watch officials having basically a conference
- 9:32Speaker 1: of stripe jersey. It was ridiculous. And the ejection of
- 9:37Speaker 1: Tyler Boyd and the penalty late in the first half
- 9:41Speaker 1: was huge. They missed the fact that he got shoved
- 9:44Speaker 1: in the back out of bounds. That should have been
- 9:47Speaker 1: a penalty. Yea, he gets up, gets in somebody's face.
- 9:51Speaker 1: The first swipe was taken by the opponent, he swipes back,
- 9:55Speaker 1: he gets a fifteen yard penalty. So that's a mistake.
- 9:59Speaker 1: They both get a ejected and shouldn't have been. That
- 10:02Speaker 1: was just totally mishandled by the officials. Like Marv Levy said,
- 10:07Speaker 1: they were all a bunch of overly officious jerks. It
- 10:11Speaker 1: was ridiculous because, you know, New York got involved with
- 10:15Speaker 1: the ejections, and New York got overly excited about doing
- 10:19Speaker 1: something to try to take control of the game that
- 10:22Speaker 1: the officials had lost control of. I think I think
- 10:24Speaker 1: they saw that it was starting to get pretty or
- 10:26Speaker 1: very chippy, very nasty potentially, and they tried to put
- 10:31Speaker 1: a fork in it as such. But the fact that
- 10:33Speaker 1: New York couldn't do anything about the fact that they
- 10:35Speaker 1: blew the call. They can't assess penalties that officials miss
- 10:40Speaker 1: on the field of play. That would open up the
- 10:41Speaker 1: can of worms. Every single play would be asked to
- 10:44Speaker 1: be reviewed to see if there was holding on the
- 10:46Speaker 1: left tackle, if there was an illegal chuck on the cornerback.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I mean, they couldn't play the game, so they couldn't
- 10:52Speaker 1: rectify the mistake that was made by Tyler Boyd being
- 10:56Speaker 1: the guy that responds to being pushed. They missed totally
- 11:00Speaker 1: why he was instigated to do what he did. All
- 11:04Speaker 1: they saw was him retaliate, and it's ridiculous what took
- 11:07Speaker 1: place there. And Zach Taylor was going nuts because he
- 11:09Speaker 1: saw the whole thing as he was going down the
- 11:12Speaker 1: sideline and certainly could not change the officials' minds whatsoever.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So technically the game got away in the third quarter,
- 11:20Speaker 1: but I really thought that final sequence in the second
- 11:22Speaker 1: quarter swung the game. That's how I felt watching it.
- 11:26Speaker 1: One oh eight left in the second quarter, the Bengals
- 11:29Speaker 1: have the lead. They've got it first and ten at
- 11:31Speaker 1: the Miami twenty. You think, worst case scenario, they're going
- 11:35Speaker 1: to kick a field goal and have a ten to
- 11:38Speaker 1: three lead at the half. Instead of having, you know,
- 11:41Speaker 1: what should have been a relative chip shot, like a
- 11:43Speaker 1: thirty eight yard field goal, it becomes a fifty three
- 11:46Speaker 1: yard attempt that Bullock misses, gives the Dolphins good field position,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and they kick a forty eight yard field goal as
- 11:52Speaker 1: the half expires to make it a seven sixth game.
- 11:56Speaker 1: That was a huge swing. It was, it was, and
- 11:59Speaker 1: I think the Bengals went into locker room feeling it.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So they came back out in the third quarter, went
- 12:07Speaker 1: two and out, three and out in their two possessions
- 12:10Speaker 1: in the third quarter, and then they went three and
- 12:12Speaker 1: out in the first possession of the fourth quarter. Three
- 12:14Speaker 1: straight three and outs, and on those twelve snaps they
- 12:18Speaker 1: had zero yards, three plays for six yards, three place
- 12:21Speaker 1: for minus ten yards, three place for minus one yards,
- 12:25Speaker 1: minus five total. So in a in a let's see,
- 12:29Speaker 1: in a five possession sequence, they had four three and outs,
- 12:33Speaker 1: twelve plays, no yards in those in those in those possessions,
- 12:38Speaker 1: those five possessions, that is brutal. That's ending the first
- 12:42Speaker 1: half and starting the second half with nothing going on.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I mean they had on the drive you talked about
- 12:49Speaker 1: whether they missed the field goal, they had six first downs.
- 12:51Speaker 1: On the other nine drives, they had six first downs
- 12:55Speaker 1: total the other nine drives, and on the one drive
- 12:58Speaker 1: where they missed a fifty three yard they had six
- 13:01Speaker 1: verset downs, eleven plays, forty three yards root canal surgery.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I mean, they just can't make any plays. They really can't.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Seventy two yard touchdown, Tyler Boyd, you know, basically you
- 13:13Speaker 1: had a misplay by the defensive back sample does a
- 13:17Speaker 1: good job of blocking one. The other one just tries
- 13:19Speaker 1: to run underneath the plane and catch it from behind
- 13:21Speaker 1: instead of going over the top. And when he ran
- 13:24Speaker 1: underneath it, Tyler Board out ran him to the sideline
- 13:27Speaker 1: and it was, you know, six points at that point,
- 13:30Speaker 1: it was six city. The Bengals ran a total of
- 13:33Speaker 1: fifty plays, so that one went for seventy two the
- 13:36Speaker 1: other forty nine went for un excuse me, one hundred
- 13:40Speaker 1: and twenty four yards. That's two point five per snap.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Like you say, root canal surgery. Just a dreadful showing.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And you know, it's tough when you lose your starting quarterback,
- 13:51Speaker 1: but that's happened to a lot of teams. Typically your
- 13:54Speaker 1: offense is not as good, that's to be understood. But
- 13:58Speaker 1: it shouldn't be this bad, really shouldn't, I get you know,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you compound it with the fact that Joe Mixon, you know,
- 14:04Speaker 1: the Joe Show is done. The two Joe's only played together,
- 14:08Speaker 1: what four game games maybe Dan possibly five, I can't
- 14:11Speaker 1: remember the exact number, but it wasn't very long. And uh,
- 14:14Speaker 1: it's it's this football team, both both the Bengals and
- 14:20Speaker 1: and the Miami Dolphins. Their numbers were very similar. They
- 14:23Speaker 1: had run it for about ninety five and ninety six
- 14:25Speaker 1: yards and given up about one hundred and thirty And
- 14:27Speaker 1: they both were giving up four point eight yards per
- 14:29Speaker 1: play in the running game. And they're running it for
- 14:33Speaker 1: about you know, three point six yards, you know, three
- 14:36Speaker 1: point six to three point eight. So who was going
- 14:38Speaker 1: to run it and who was going to stop the run?
- 14:40Speaker 1: The Bengals running game was non existent against the defense
- 14:43Speaker 1: the teams had run the ball against pretty well. You know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: they hit the sea gap, they hit the off tackle
- 14:48Speaker 1: gap when they went to that bare front and covered
- 14:50Speaker 1: the center on both guards, and teams hit that and
- 14:53Speaker 1: abused it pretty well. In the first half, they showed
- 14:56Speaker 1: some signs, you know, they were finishing runs pretty well.
- 14:59Speaker 1: P Ryan finished the couple, Giovanni finished a couple, and
- 15:02Speaker 1: I thought, yeah, maybe they'll be able to stay with him,
- 15:04Speaker 1: be persistent with the running game and grinds it out
- 15:06Speaker 1: a little bit. And then that's just evaporated. You know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: that went away, and it's amazing. As soon as the
- 15:11Speaker 1: team gets up more than a score on the Bengals,
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's over. It's over. They can't they can't run the football,
- 15:17Speaker 1: the pass protection is they get overpowered and dominated six sacks,
- 15:22Speaker 1: five of them in the second half. You know that
- 15:24Speaker 1: Basically Miami started to run away with the game. They
- 15:28Speaker 1: scored on four straight possessions, the last possession the field
- 15:31Speaker 1: goal we talked about in the first half, then touchdown
- 15:34Speaker 1: field goal, field goal in the first three possessions of
- 15:37Speaker 1: the second half. Ball game, and uh, it's it's it's
- 15:41Speaker 1: tough to watch it. Defensively, again, they played pretty solidly.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I mean, Jesse Bates is having he had thirteen tackles,
- 15:49Speaker 1: ten of them on assisted and punch the ball out
- 15:52Speaker 1: and Von Bell recovers it. The Killer Bees are playing
- 15:55Speaker 1: well at the safety position, and the last two opponents
- 15:58Speaker 1: have scored nineteen points and the offense cannot even you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: come close to make it making it a competitive football game.
- 16:05Speaker 1: In today's NFL, nineteen points should not win you a
- 16:09Speaker 1: football game by two scores. It just shouldn't. I thought
- 16:12Speaker 1: Bates really stood out today because not only did he
- 16:15Speaker 1: have all those tackles, but he wasn't like making the
- 16:17Speaker 1: last line of defense tackles fifteen twenty yards downfield. He
- 16:22Speaker 1: was up in the box stopping guys repeatedly close to
- 16:25Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage. Yeah, and when receptions were made,
- 16:29Speaker 1: the journey was over. There was no yards after catch.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I mean he was he was physical. I mean he
- 16:35Speaker 1: was he was into it. And honestly, I think that
- 16:39Speaker 1: he's going to get a lot of votes for the
- 16:40Speaker 1: Pro Bowl because his play. I think Lawrence it plus
- 16:45Speaker 1: the fact that he's trying to ignite his football team.
- 16:48Speaker 1: His team is not a good football team, particularly offensively,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and he's trying to lift his entire defense, you know,
- 16:55Speaker 1: to stay competitive and keep the football team in games.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So I think League Y he's getting a lot of
- 17:00Speaker 1: respect for that, and he was effusive in the praise.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Was florries about Jesse based before the football game during
- 17:12Speaker 1: the week during the Zoom call that he had the
- 17:14Speaker 1: conference call on Wednesday, and Jesse did look him up
- 17:17Speaker 1: before the game and thank them for words. And if
- 17:20Speaker 1: you have a guy who knows what he's looking at
- 17:23Speaker 1: from a defensive football perspective. Given the kind of compliments,
- 17:26Speaker 1: the Flowery compliments they were thrown out there, Flores was
- 17:29Speaker 1: thrown up their debates, that means something to League. So
- 17:31Speaker 1: the Jonas Williams situation was awful. TV coverage only showed
- 17:36Speaker 1: it once, similar to the Joe Burrow situation. Looked like
- 17:40Speaker 1: Bobby Harts guy inadvertently crashed into the leg of Jonah Williams,
- 17:45Speaker 1: causing the injury. Again on the TV coverage, they only
- 17:48Speaker 1: mentioned that he was taken off on a cart. We
- 17:51Speaker 1: didn't see it. None of that would appear to bode
- 17:54Speaker 1: well in my opinion. Now, they called for the card
- 17:57Speaker 1: very quickly. He never moved, you know, they just just
- 18:01Speaker 1: went right down to the knee. I mean, he knew
- 18:03Speaker 1: obviously right away. And I remember that happened to me
- 18:06Speaker 1: one time, and I was fortunate in that I tore cartilage,
- 18:08Speaker 1: tore meniscus cartilage and tour it pretty well. There was
- 18:12Speaker 1: a big you know, the meniscus is like a horse
- 18:14Speaker 1: shoe underneath your kneecap, underneath the matella, and I had
- 18:17Speaker 1: a big, huge ripping in the meniscus and it was locked,
- 18:21Speaker 1: locking my knee up. I couldn't bend my leg. But
- 18:24Speaker 1: they carved it out of there with with you know,
- 18:27Speaker 1: the surgery, the scope, arthurscopic surgery when in there, chopped
- 18:32Speaker 1: it up, sucked it out of there, and I was
- 18:33Speaker 1: able to play. Literally, I played the following Sunday. So
- 18:38Speaker 1: that was a you know, not a not a terrible procedure,
- 18:40Speaker 1: but a lot of times when you get you get
- 18:43Speaker 1: hit like that from the side or behind, it can
- 18:46Speaker 1: lead to some significant damage. And the fact that he
- 18:49Speaker 1: didn't even try to get up and walk off the
- 18:50Speaker 1: field is not a good indicator. Bobby Hart had a
- 18:54Speaker 1: tough day. Looked like Michael Jordan had a really tough day.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Xavier sue of Philo is off the injured list. Do
- 19:00Speaker 1: you think Michael Jordan gets another opportunity to watch from
- 19:04Speaker 1: the sideline and we see the return of Xavier Suafilo
- 19:07Speaker 1: to the starting lineup. I would think so. And uh,
- 19:11Speaker 1: you know, if Redmond's able to come back, what do
- 19:14Speaker 1: you do do you go with? You go with Spain
- 19:16Speaker 1: and Suafilo, Redmond and Suafilo. You know, it's it's interesting
- 19:21Speaker 1: what they might do inside there. But I do think
- 19:25Speaker 1: I think right now Michael Jordan has got a confidence issue.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think that you know, he's he realizes that in
- 19:33Speaker 1: his mind, maybe I shouldn't be playing, maybe I'm not
- 19:36Speaker 1: ready to play. And you can't compete in the national
- 19:38Speaker 1: football if you go out there with doubt in your mind.
- 19:41Speaker 1: If you don't think that you're going to be able
- 19:43Speaker 1: to get the job done, there's not a snowball's chance
- 19:45Speaker 1: in hell you're gonna get the job done, bottom line period.
- 19:48Speaker 1: So until he, you know, gets that confidence back and
- 19:53Speaker 1: starts to be consistent with his execution of performance on
- 19:56Speaker 1: a snap by snap basis, you got to do something
- 20:00Speaker 1: because van Noy, van Noy had three sacks. I respect
- 20:03Speaker 1: van Noy as a football player. The guy is a
- 20:06Speaker 1: stat sheets stuffer and he's very intelligent. And I mean
- 20:09Speaker 1: when when the Dolphins suffer injury to Roberts, I thought,
- 20:13Speaker 1: oh man, that's that's a that's a big loss right there.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And Van Noy just picked it up and just made
- 20:19Speaker 1: a bunch of plays for the Dolphins at the linebacker level.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I mean, he stepped his game up big time. What
- 20:24Speaker 1: do you think of Twah. I think that they they
- 20:28Speaker 1: dumped it down a little bit offensively for TWA. I
- 20:31Speaker 1: don't think they give him a lot to have to
- 20:33Speaker 1: concern himself with it. It's very effective. They employ like
- 20:38Speaker 1: a motion person across the formation. He can you know,
- 20:42Speaker 1: he can give him a little shovel pass to get
- 20:45Speaker 1: an outside run. They do their zone read stuff with
- 20:48Speaker 1: him and then play action off all of those looks,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and it's pretty simple. It's pretty simple what they're asking
- 20:52Speaker 1: them to do. And I think they call it and
- 20:55Speaker 1: run it with Twa. I don't think he even looks
- 20:58Speaker 1: to audibilize that the line of scrimmage. I think it's
- 21:00Speaker 1: a call it and running scenario with chan Gaily and
- 21:03Speaker 1: then obviously with Ryan Fitzpatrick in there, he has total
- 21:06Speaker 1: latitude to change plays at the line of scrimmage and
- 21:08Speaker 1: get him out of bad plays into better ones. But
- 21:11Speaker 1: I do think too it is very, very conscious of
- 21:15Speaker 1: not messing it up, don't turn it over, don't make
- 21:19Speaker 1: a mistake that will cost his football team, because he
- 21:21Speaker 1: knows his defense is outstanding, and he knows that the
- 21:24Speaker 1: special teams are great as well. And offensively, just do
- 21:29Speaker 1: what you need to do, take advantage of opportunities when
- 21:32Speaker 1: they present themselves. Don't try to force and create opportunities.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Don't try to do something that's not there and cause issues.
- 21:41Speaker 1: And I think he had a stretch there where he
- 21:44Speaker 1: was like I would think probably ten for twelve, one
- 21:47Speaker 1: hundred and twenty yards and a touchdown pass. He was
- 21:49Speaker 1: pretty effective with that play action stuff, And I think
- 21:53Speaker 1: I think both quarterbacks Dan are tough minded Fitzpatrick and
- 21:58Speaker 1: two are both tough minded. Two has been coached hard
- 22:00Speaker 1: his whole life. His dad just begin with and I
- 22:03Speaker 1: you know, it's tough. I've seen father's coaching their sons
- 22:07Speaker 1: and they're tough on their sons and anybody because they
- 22:08Speaker 1: don't want to appear to be showing favoritism. And then
- 22:11Speaker 1: you go to Nick Saban and probably his dad was
- 22:14Speaker 1: a picnic before Nick Saban, you know. So now you
- 22:17Speaker 1: go to Flores, who's another you know, stern taskmaster. So
- 22:21Speaker 1: two is tough. Two is mentally tough, physically tough. And uh,
- 22:26Speaker 1: I thought that he was patient, didn't try to didn't
- 22:29Speaker 1: try to create something when it wasn't there. It's interesting
- 22:32Speaker 1: to watch him, watch him perform, hasn't thrown an interception,
- 22:35Speaker 1: He's got seven touchdown passes. Now, it's pretty nice. It
- 22:39Speaker 1: is good. Miami coach Brian Flores lost his cool over
- 22:43Speaker 1: though Mike Thomas hits on punt returner Jachem Grant. Did
- 22:47Speaker 1: you think they were cheaper? You know? The thing is
- 22:49Speaker 1: Grant doesn't signal fair catches. And I'm sure Darren was like, look,
- 22:54Speaker 1: he's not going to fair catch it. Don't let him
- 22:57Speaker 1: embarrass you, close the space, get right up on top
- 23:00Speaker 1: of him as soon as he catches that football, put
- 23:02Speaker 1: a hit on him. All Thomas took it a little
- 23:05Speaker 1: a step further, obviously, And I know some people are
- 23:09Speaker 1: are like a Paul that New York didn't throw Mike
- 23:12Speaker 1: Thomas out of the game after having back to back
- 23:15Speaker 1: punt returns that way. The thing my question is, how
- 23:19Speaker 1: the hell does Flores not even get penalized running across
- 23:22Speaker 1: the field and leading the whole bench to the Bengal sideline.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Now New York can say, well, a coach can go
- 23:27Speaker 1: on the field if he's a peacemaker. Peacemaker my butt.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Flores was ready to go. He was he was going
- 23:32Speaker 1: to get after people on the Bengal sideline and von
- 23:35Speaker 1: Bell held him back. He wasn't out there as a peacemaker.
- 23:39Speaker 1: He was going nuts. So you know, if they say,
- 23:42Speaker 1: how come Thomas wasn't injected, how come Flores wasn't at
- 23:45Speaker 1: least penalized or even ejected. You can't go out in
- 23:48Speaker 1: the football field like that in that manner as a coach,
- 23:52Speaker 1: not only as a head coach, an assistant coach. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: second time I've seen it happen in the meltdown in
- 23:57Speaker 1: the playoffs Pittsburgh as Cincinnati Joey Porter was out in
- 24:01Speaker 1: the field proden Vantes Berfort and Adam Jones. So I've
- 24:05Speaker 1: seen it before with an assistant coach out there on
- 24:09Speaker 1: the football field when he shouldn't have been. But I've
- 24:11Speaker 1: never seen a head coach charged the opposite sideline and
- 24:15Speaker 1: leader brigade of guys from his sideline across the field
- 24:18Speaker 1: like that. And there's no repercussion about it whatsoever? What's
- 24:21Speaker 1: that about it? I don't understand that one we know
- 24:24Speaker 1: who he was pointing and gesturing toward. Was it a coach?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Was it Mike Thomas? Do we know who he was
- 24:29Speaker 1: directing his anger at. I'm not sure. I'm not sure
- 24:33Speaker 1: he was. He was screaming and yelling at somebody. And
- 24:35Speaker 1: I would like to have been a fly on the
- 24:37Speaker 1: wall when he and Zach Taylor shook hands after the
- 24:39Speaker 1: game and Zach was asked at the zoom, you know
- 24:42Speaker 1: what was talked about him? So we'll just keep that
- 24:44Speaker 1: between us, he said, but we're good. But there was
- 24:48Speaker 1: I don't know if it's a Bengal assistant coach or
- 24:51Speaker 1: somebody else in the organization. Somebody was down on the
- 24:53Speaker 1: sides and was getting trampled. Yeah, I mean it's like, man,
- 24:57Speaker 1: you know, you can't you can't have those kind of things.
- 24:59Speaker 1: That's and that's an ugly scene right there. And the
- 25:02Speaker 1: National Football League I think that not only are there
- 25:05Speaker 1: going to be ejections, they're gonna be fines. Players are
- 25:08Speaker 1: going to be lighter in the pocketbook. If I'm the NFL.
- 25:10Speaker 1: If they don't find Floras, I don't know what the
- 25:14Speaker 1: hell of fine? What act would cause a fine to occur?
- 25:19Speaker 1: And I'm sure Russ will pick it up. The billionaire
- 25:21Speaker 1: owner will probably pick up Floors. Is fine, but the
- 25:24Speaker 1: league has to do something. They can't allow coaches to
- 25:27Speaker 1: run across the football field like that and help incite,
- 25:30Speaker 1: you know, things that might get out of control. They
- 25:33Speaker 1: lost total control of that game every way you can
- 25:36Speaker 1: lose control of it. Brandon Allen left with seven twenty
- 25:39Speaker 1: three to go, helped off the field by the medical staff.
- 25:42Speaker 1: After the game, he said he just had the win
- 25:44Speaker 1: knocked out of them. So should we assume that he'll
- 25:48Speaker 1: be back as the starter next week? What do you
- 25:49Speaker 1: think I think there's a good chance he fell on
- 25:53Speaker 1: top of the football. I saw that, you know, on
- 25:55Speaker 1: the one replayers got a good angle of it, and
- 25:58Speaker 1: I've seen that before, and I seen it where it
- 26:00Speaker 1: can crack ribs. I mean literally, if you fall on
- 26:03Speaker 1: that football right, you can have a you know, a
- 26:05Speaker 1: crack or one of the most painful injuries I ever had.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I recovered a fumble and guys fell on top of
- 26:12Speaker 1: me and I was right on top of the ball
- 26:14Speaker 1: and had nowhere to go, and I tore cartilage between
- 26:16Speaker 1: my ribs and my rib kidge and oh my gosh, man,
- 26:20Speaker 1: if you sneeze, cough, anything, it's like, I think I
- 26:24Speaker 1: might have preferred to crack a rib then tear cartilage
- 26:27Speaker 1: between the ribs. It was. It was very, very painful,
- 26:30Speaker 1: and there wasn't much movement you could do. And they
- 26:32Speaker 1: put a flat jacket on to protect it from further damage,
- 26:35Speaker 1: but it was already damaged. Man. That was. That was
- 26:38Speaker 1: a tough few weeks there, and it almost takes your
- 26:41Speaker 1: breath away when you move the wrong way. You feel
- 26:43Speaker 1: that big sharp pain and you know you almost lose
- 26:46Speaker 1: your breath. So he's it all depends on how serious
- 26:50Speaker 1: that injury is. And if it's if it's a problem
- 26:53Speaker 1: obviously and you can't practice and get ready for you know,
- 26:56Speaker 1: the game against Dallas, Hogan comes to the rescue and
- 26:59Speaker 1: I maybe they signed Sergeant Schultz to back them up.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I don't know, they need another body back there at quarterback.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I don't know what they're gonna do. Nice hole again
- 27:09Speaker 1: reference speaking of painful two nine and one, four twenty
- 27:16Speaker 1: three and one since the beginning of last year, just
- 27:20Speaker 1: a brutal two years stretched, no other way to describe it. Yeah, absolutely,
- 27:25Speaker 1: And they only have one more chance to win a
- 27:28Speaker 1: road game. I mean they could go over the road
- 27:31Speaker 1: other than a tie, don't have a W and man,
- 27:35Speaker 1: that would be a tough, tough stretch. Obviously, they got
- 27:39Speaker 1: one more shot when they go down to Houston to
- 27:41Speaker 1: get that road w in the way Shaun Watson's playing,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and then that won't be an easy cast down there either,
- 27:47Speaker 1: And they've got JJ Watt. Everybody's got players. So yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 1: it's it's it is. It's brutal, and um, you know,
- 27:56Speaker 1: you see the thing is they're playing hard. Dan In
- 27:59Speaker 1: my estimation, te Higgins is trying to up up and
- 28:03Speaker 1: away jump over a guy and make a play. I
- 28:05Speaker 1: asked him in the zoom after the game. You know,
- 28:08Speaker 1: in hindsight, would you do that again? Yeah, I'm a playmaker.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I got to try and make place for my football team.
- 28:13Speaker 1: So guys are selling out and they're not worried about
- 28:16Speaker 1: the potential effects on their bodies. But they're just not
- 28:20Speaker 1: playing smart. You know, there's just honestly, they're just not
- 28:24Speaker 1: playing smart. In a lot of cases, they're just not
- 28:26Speaker 1: good enough, you know. And effort is great, but if
- 28:29Speaker 1: you're not good enough, effort rings hollow after a while.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And right now, the fans and everybody involved with the
- 28:37Speaker 1: football team, it's just starving for wins man. They got
- 28:40Speaker 1: to got to try to find a win or two
- 28:42Speaker 1: somewhere as they close it out in the last month.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Appreciate you doing this seeing a couple of days. Look
- 28:50Speaker 1: forward to it. Be good to see you Dan face
- 28:51Speaker 1: to face instead of by zoom or by voice. Indeed,
- 28:56Speaker 1: appreciate it. Thanks, you know. Man up next three turn
- 29:00Speaker 1: of Andy Dalton as the Dallas Cowboys come to Paul
- 29:03Speaker 1: Brown Stadium next week. Dallas is three and eight and
- 29:07Speaker 1: has to play on Tuesday in Baltimore. The Bengals Booth
- 29:11Speaker 1: podcast is presented by Bud Light Seltzer. It's light and
- 29:15Speaker 1: refreshing with a hint of fruit flavor. Now time for
- 29:18Speaker 1: this week's fun Facts segment, where you get to know
- 29:21Speaker 1: the person under the pads. Time for some fun facts
- 29:25Speaker 1: with offensive linemen Quentin Spain from Petersburg, Virginia, the birthplace
- 29:29Speaker 1: of one of the greatest Bengals running backs of all time,
- 29:33Speaker 1: Rudy Johnson. What was young Quentin Spain into growing up
- 29:38Speaker 1: in Petersburg? I was into basketball and football, and I
- 29:43Speaker 1: did I try a shot foot Well, I just went
- 29:46Speaker 1: to the Tratton meet just to see the people run
- 29:48Speaker 1: one hundred and two hundred in the full ball one Ruth, Quentin,
- 29:51Speaker 1: you are a large man. Were you always the biggest
- 29:54Speaker 1: kid growing up? Yes, I was the biggest kid growing
- 29:57Speaker 1: up in high school. I was the biggest kid in
- 30:00Speaker 1: the middle school too. Elementary I was playing running back elementary,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I played running back in quarterback. I'm glad you mentioned
- 30:07Speaker 1: playing running back because there's footage of you on the
- 30:10Speaker 1: internet playing high school basketball, and that's good. But there's
- 30:14Speaker 1: footage of you as a high school fullback and that
- 30:18Speaker 1: is phenomenal. You look like Godzilla carrying tiny people on
- 30:23Speaker 1: your shoulders. How much fun was it for you to
- 30:26Speaker 1: play fullback in high school? It was great, Like the
- 30:29Speaker 1: Cloch believed in me and he gave me the rock,
- 30:32Speaker 1: so he had faith in me. So and I enjoyed it,
- 30:35Speaker 1: like I was Tyler blogging at the game, so he
- 30:39Speaker 1: made it fun fund me, Like when we got into
- 30:40Speaker 1: the red zone, he tamed me in the back. So
- 30:43Speaker 1: we're doing fun facts with Quentin Spain. You attended West
- 30:46Speaker 1: Virginia University, which has a history of developing good offensive lineman.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Why did you choose WVU now to West Virginia because
- 30:55Speaker 1: I had to go to summer school because I was
- 30:57Speaker 1: a credit short. When I was a summer school, West
- 31:00Speaker 1: Virginia stuck with man told me like, whenever you get
- 31:04Speaker 1: dumbed there, it's come up. So I came to West Virginia.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I was a week week in the hell behind the camp,
- 31:12Speaker 1: so they reres certain and I just I caught on
- 31:17Speaker 1: and see how thing was going, and then I just
- 31:19Speaker 1: took off the year after that. What was the best
- 31:22Speaker 1: part of your college experience? Everything about college we're chatting
- 31:29Speaker 1: with Quentin Spain. Your Twitter profile says mister undrafted, which
- 31:34Speaker 1: is a reference, unfortunately to what happened in the NFL draft.
- 31:38Speaker 1: How much did that hurt? They heard a lot like
- 31:41Speaker 1: it heard being around, like having your family having a
- 31:44Speaker 1: little draft party, and didn't hear your name call, and
- 31:47Speaker 1: you projected to go first round when you came back
- 31:49Speaker 1: your last ship my last year in the same year
- 31:52Speaker 1: college project the first round and it's slipped to undrafted.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So I just I carried the name. I said, all right,
- 31:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna call my something stunt drafted, and I'm gonna
- 32:01Speaker 1: prove everybody, every team wrong who didn't want to pick them.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Has anybody ever explained why you weren't drafted. Nobody never
- 32:10Speaker 1: told me why I wan't drive. So that's in the
- 32:13Speaker 1: past though. So I just used the motivation and I figured,
- 32:17Speaker 1: like once I make like I knew I could make
- 32:19Speaker 1: a team. It's just I just had to pick a
- 32:22Speaker 1: team will fit for me. And I picked Tennessee at
- 32:24Speaker 1: a time they need alignment. So I figured, if I
- 32:27Speaker 1: come in there and do what I had to do,
- 32:29Speaker 1: I can make the team. And so when I got
- 32:31Speaker 1: the when I didn't get the phone call from being cut,
- 32:34Speaker 1: then my agent called me and said I made a team.
- 32:37Speaker 1: It brought a big smile on my face, and I said,
- 32:39Speaker 1: it's not it's not over. Yeah, I made a team,
- 32:42Speaker 1: but I feel like I can be a starter. So
- 32:45Speaker 1: I just kept working. And then when I became a starter,
- 32:47Speaker 1: I just took off right there. Quentin, while you were
- 32:50Speaker 1: with Tennessee and playing in Nashville, you attended to Nashville
- 32:55Speaker 1: Predators NHL playoff where you fired up the crowd by
- 33:00Speaker 1: doing what take it off my shirt and chugging beard
- 33:05Speaker 1: with the rush of the offensive line and holding catfishes.
- 33:10Speaker 1: All right, let's break this down and let's start with
- 33:12Speaker 1: taking off your shirt. How did the crowd react to that? First?
- 33:17Speaker 1: Lawan said, all right, we gotta we gotta. Whatever we do,
- 33:21Speaker 1: it gotta it. Gotta break the internet, it gotta worldwide.
- 33:25Speaker 1: So we would thank you. He said, all right, so
- 33:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna get I'm gonna bring the cat fishes. So
- 33:29Speaker 1: we got to the game and he snucked the catfishes
- 33:32Speaker 1: in like at first win, like we didn't know he
- 33:35Speaker 1: gonna get the cat fishes. So he snucked the catfishes
- 33:37Speaker 1: in the cooler. They let him slide because we went
- 33:39Speaker 1: through the back and they let us in so we
- 33:42Speaker 1: was in the press box. Luan said, all right, this
- 33:44Speaker 1: is what we're gonna do. I want you to hold
- 33:46Speaker 1: a catfish up over my faith and he'll gonna chug
- 33:51Speaker 1: his beard from off the cat fish. So then everybody
- 33:54Speaker 1: like Sprange just took off his shirts, just go crazy.
- 33:57Speaker 1: So and I said, all right, let's go there. So
- 33:59Speaker 1: then when they when it happened, we did it, and
- 34:02Speaker 1: then it just went nationwide. It just blew up. Now
- 34:05Speaker 1: like every hockey playoff game on the commercials, you will
- 34:08Speaker 1: see us doing it. It's classic. I highly recommend checking
- 34:13Speaker 1: out the photos out of the internet. Speaking of shirtless Quentin,
- 34:17Speaker 1: on your Twitter profile at the top, you can see
- 34:20Speaker 1: that you have a big tattoo on your back of
- 34:24Speaker 1: the number sixty seven. So do you always have to
- 34:28Speaker 1: make sure that you are number sixty seven on whatever
- 34:31Speaker 1: team you play for? Yes? I do. And if you notice,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I got missed on josted tat on my back too,
- 34:37Speaker 1: like sixty seven under it as a jersey stop sixty
- 34:40Speaker 1: seven was available in Cincinnati. What if it wasn't, I
- 34:44Speaker 1: would I would have asked whoever had it can agreement?
- 34:48Speaker 1: What do I have? Like would have came up with
- 34:50Speaker 1: a plan something. There would have been some negotiating. Yeah,
- 34:54Speaker 1: but it was a rookie, it would have been it's
- 34:56Speaker 1: just been a said every rookie, you just got to
- 34:59Speaker 1: give it up. Ruck, He's got to give it up,
- 35:01Speaker 1: no question about it. If the Bengals had happened to
- 35:03Speaker 1: have like a five time pro bowler that wore the
- 35:06Speaker 1: number sixty seven, that might have been a little Yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 1: it would Yeah, it would have been tough. I think
- 35:10Speaker 1: I would have had to we still we had to
- 35:12Speaker 1: negotiate a song, but it worse case the words I
- 35:15Speaker 1: probably would have when I got to know. Thankfully it
- 35:18Speaker 1: didn't come to that. Yeah. You posted a picture recently
- 35:22Speaker 1: of a beautiful watch, a diamond studded gold watch. Are
- 35:28Speaker 1: you a big watch guy? I only got one watch,
- 35:31Speaker 1: and I just like, I just liked the high it
- 35:34Speaker 1: was and like my juror guy like he'd do a
- 35:36Speaker 1: good job and it looked nice. So I just I
- 35:40Speaker 1: just got one. You only need one when it looks
- 35:43Speaker 1: that good. What do you like to spend your money on? See,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I'm a big family guy man. I like to take
- 35:50Speaker 1: care of my like my guys, like who started the
- 35:54Speaker 1: dream of playing in the NFL, like, let's living the
- 35:57Speaker 1: lifestyle of the NFL that can't live us. So like
- 36:00Speaker 1: I lost my I lost my one of my best friends.
- 36:04Speaker 1: He passed, and this was like this wasn't never my
- 36:07Speaker 1: dream though it was his dream when he was young
- 36:10Speaker 1: and elementary, Like I never know I was gonna have
- 36:12Speaker 1: a chance to go to the NFL. But with me
- 36:15Speaker 1: going through high school and my coach told me that
- 36:17Speaker 1: he can get me to college. And then when I
- 36:19Speaker 1: was in college, my my my homeboy passed, So I
- 36:23Speaker 1: felt like I'm gonna finish. I'm gonna finish it off
- 36:27Speaker 1: like this is with his dream. So I said, I'm
- 36:29Speaker 1: just go ahead and play for him. So that's why
- 36:32Speaker 1: I really, I really went to the LFL for him
- 36:34Speaker 1: because it was his dream. He loved football, His dad
- 36:37Speaker 1: was elementary football coach and all that stuff. So I
- 36:41Speaker 1: just knew that he wanted to do this and he
- 36:44Speaker 1: couldn't be able to do it. Quentin, for several years,
- 36:48Speaker 1: you posted a free football camp for kids back home
- 36:51Speaker 1: in Petersburg. Why do you do it? I do that
- 36:55Speaker 1: because something like where I'm from his heart, it's it's
- 36:58Speaker 1: probably like one percent of athletes who make it out
- 37:01Speaker 1: of Petersburg with Jaane, like because it's either they go
- 37:06Speaker 1: through the drug process or they get killed, go to
- 37:08Speaker 1: jail something like that. So it's hard like to make
- 37:10Speaker 1: it out of Petersburg with James. So when I like
- 37:13Speaker 1: when I was growing up, nobody I've never seen nobody
- 37:16Speaker 1: to come back there to do counts for kids who
- 37:19Speaker 1: can't afford four camps and see what it takes to
- 37:24Speaker 1: make it to the next level, like technique and like
- 37:27Speaker 1: stuff like that. So I do it free. So that's
- 37:31Speaker 1: what reason, man, reason why I come back to my
- 37:33Speaker 1: hometown to do a free count for kids, Like I
- 37:37Speaker 1: want to show them that I made it and then
- 37:40Speaker 1: forget about home. So it's anything impossible. You can get
- 37:44Speaker 1: out Petersburg. You don't gotta stay in Petersburg. You can
- 37:47Speaker 1: go somewhere. So I do that with the kids. Like
- 37:50Speaker 1: sometimes the young kids, I just feel bad, so I'd
- 37:53Speaker 1: be had bouncing house for they keep the young kids
- 37:56Speaker 1: because you know that the attention span is low, so
- 38:01Speaker 1: that age group I let them play around with like
- 38:03Speaker 1: that parents who overdare with them, and then the older
- 38:06Speaker 1: kid we just do drills and then seven on seven
- 38:09Speaker 1: and let them have fun in recognition of your generosity.
- 38:14Speaker 1: The mayor of your hometown proclaimed July first, twenty seventeen,
- 38:20Speaker 1: Quentin Spain Day. What's it like for your hometown to
- 38:26Speaker 1: give you a day? I didn't know anything about it
- 38:29Speaker 1: when when I was at my camp when they gave me,
- 38:32Speaker 1: they gave me the day, and they gave me the
- 38:34Speaker 1: key to my city. So that was big, Like I'm
- 38:37Speaker 1: like a key to the city. That that's like. That
- 38:41Speaker 1: mean people recognize what I'm doing out here and what
- 38:44Speaker 1: I'm doing for the community, and that was big time
- 38:46Speaker 1: for me. I will never forget that day though. All Right,
- 38:49Speaker 1: a couple more fun facts for Quentin Spain. Who is
- 38:52Speaker 1: the greatest athlete in any sport? I'm had to go
- 38:56Speaker 1: my hometown Moses more Loan from your high school. Yeah,
- 39:02Speaker 1: all right, I like that answer. We haven't had Moses
- 39:05Speaker 1: Malone before. Last question, If you could meet anybody in history, athlete, entertainer, statesman, whatever,
- 39:15Speaker 1: who would that person be. If I can meet anybody
- 39:19Speaker 1: in person, it would be it would be Denzel Denzel Washington. Yeah,
- 39:26Speaker 1: love his movies. Yeah, training be all that training days great.
- 39:33Speaker 1: That's my favorite Denzel role because he plays a bad guy. Yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 1: I feel like every movie was like, yeah, it was
- 39:39Speaker 1: a pretty good movie. All Right, you're off the hot seat.
- 39:43Speaker 1: I appreciate your time, best of luck the rest of
- 39:45Speaker 1: this year. Thank you. Here's a quick reminder to join
