- 0:02Happy Tuesday around lunchtime from Tulsa, OK.
- 0:08It was very chaotic this morning when we left Wichita, KS.
- 0:13Just couldn't get it going. It was windy.
- 0:15We were moving things around and I thought, you know what, let me
- 0:19be patient. Let's get down to Tulsa and
- 0:24we'll do something from the Tulsa Expo Center.
- 0:27All you open wheel razors. You know where we're at.
- 0:31I have a method to my madness. Kim's going to be involved in
- 0:33this. All right, This is the Tulsa, OK
- 0:39Tulsa Expo Center where the Chili Bowl is.
- 0:42Oh yes, and the Tulsa Shootout. All right, Kim, you want to do
- 0:46360? This is not scripted by the way,
- 0:52I have no idea what's going on. One more it is so big in here,
- 0:59it's unreal. And I want to show you.
- 1:01Connie's going to be behind us. You don't want to make a gun
- 1:06show. The gun shows are here.
- 1:09This is want to make a gun show. Is here, Kim, get in right here.
- 1:12It is the largest gun show in the United States.
- 1:15It's right here in. This building the largest gun
- 1:17show. Thank.
- 1:17You want to make a gun? Show that is awesome OK Kim
- 1:21let's take a walk we're going down to the racetrack and right
- 1:26can you get closer to me sure you walk right behind me well
- 1:29you. Got a soda in this hand and a
- 1:31phone in this hand. Where am I supposed to fit in?
- 1:34We had a wonderful day. John Kirsner Christener, who
- 1:38sponsored slamming Sammy Swindell's car, bought us to
- 1:41lunch and want to thank him so much.
- 1:43Wonderful man who's been part of the Cow Petty charity ride
- 1:48forever and very emotional today.
- 1:51So thank you John. And I just love saying slamming
- 1:55Sammy Swindell. I can hear the crowd roaring
- 1:58right now. They didn't like him because he
- 1:59won too much. Imagine that.
- 2:02OK, so today's theme is this, Kim said.
- 2:10What about open wheel racing? What did you say about me racing
- 2:14open wheel cars? I didn't want you in one of
- 2:17them. You need to leave me first.
- 2:21I haven't seen every time I've ever watched it, which is rare,
- 2:27but somebody in their whole car just.
- 2:30Blew apart. They flip.
- 2:32They do a lot of flip. And everything breaks off of it.
- 2:35So you got to be a little bit of a dirt racer to understand it,
- 2:39baby. But give me a kiss.
- 2:40I'm. Not.
- 2:42But Kim said, honey, you race NASCAR and asphalt for 32 years,
- 2:48and now it's. My turn.
- 2:51And now I go run the MO dirt cars and.
- 2:53That's fine. That's local.
- 2:55It's OK. So now the story begins.
- 2:58So I go to Volusia and I won. There were seven possible A
- 3:04mains and I won three. I won one night against 100
- 3:10cars. It was very special.
- 3:11It was 2012, very rare. I'm just, you know, probably my
- 3:156th year in dirt rate. I think I started in 2006.
- 3:19So I I, you know, learned a little bit and I won 1A main.
- 3:24The next night I won another. The third night we won at
- 3:29Volusia 2012. Tony Stewart comes down and Tony
- 3:34says, OK Herm, you won one. I thought, well, Herman got
- 3:37lucky. The second one he's like, damn.
- 3:40The third one, Tony said I had to come down.
- 3:43OK, now remember, I'm learning how to race dirt cars.
- 3:47And Tony Stewart knew this. He could have kept his eye on
- 3:50me. So Tony is thinking about buying
- 3:54our house and property. He stops by, knocks on the door,
- 3:59and Tony Stewart says this to me.
- 4:02Herman, you're not a real dirt racer until you run the Chili
- 4:06Bowl. And Kim said what to Tony
- 4:09Stewart? No.
- 4:12Her nose and her nostrils started flaring.
- 4:14He. Did not, but I said no.
- 4:19It didn't. It anyhow.
- 4:21No, he said he'd take care of me.
- 4:23Yeah, he did promise me that. So we came to the chili boat.
- 4:26We're making our way to the racetrack.
- 4:28By the way we we made our way down here.
- 4:32Tony took care of me. I think I made it to the J main.
- 4:36I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I wanted to fire
- 4:39that motor up and roll down the hill and experience it.
- 4:44So in the in the press conference, Tony Stewart said I
- 4:50didn't think there was 320 open wheel midgets in America.
- 4:54And I will never forget my experience here.
- 4:57Now I want to say this, I'm not a professional Tulsa, you know,
- 5:03Expo Center guy and I know you all are.
- 5:06So I'm not going to tread on your turf, but I know all about
- 5:13the Tulsa Shootout, Kim, the Tulsa Shootout the week before
- 5:17the Chili Bowl is they look like open wheel midgets, but they all
- 5:22got motorcycle motors on them and there's different cubic
- 5:25kensions. You know, the 500 class or
- 5:27whatever. You know, maybe I say it a
- 5:29little wrong because you all are professionals.
- 5:31You know way more than me. I sounded just like Kyle Petty
- 5:35there. I'm all smart ass if.
- 5:37That's the truck. How do you get a car down there?
- 5:40Is there ramps up here? Yeah.
- 5:41If the trucks are here. OK, So the Tulsa Shootout, then
- 5:46the Chili Bowl, all the big boys.
- 5:48Tony Stewart has one here. Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson,
- 5:52Rodger Penske has come here and watched Jeff Gordon.
- 5:55Everybody that's anybody has come here.
- 5:58OK You ready? Yeah.
- 6:00Kim. Kim sees it with amazement.
- 6:02And she's like what? Well.
- 6:04I'm just trying to figure. Out how you get.
- 6:06OK, let me put my tea down. OK, so all right, come stand
- 6:13next to me, Marie. All right, so here we are.
- 6:17This is where the race tracks at.
- 6:20So we are a good 20 feet. You see the wall here?
- 6:25That's the wall, that's the ramp.
- 6:27That's where the cars go down the ramp, Kim over there.
- 6:30So we we drive down there and then you come on the racetrack
- 6:36and now the, the grandstands are where you are right now and,
- 6:41and, and the grandstands go all the way up to the roof.
- 6:44So what makes this chili Bowl and the Tulsa shootout so
- 6:48awesome? That's the front straightaway.
- 6:50You got grandstands there. But this is where the mass is
- 6:56and the grandstands almost go up to the roof up here.
- 6:59They park all the truck and trailers there.
- 7:04Now you. Now you've been.
- 7:05I know. Not.
- 7:06Been here, now you know. What do you think of that?
- 7:10OK, so here we are. OK, so you need to go sign.
- 7:18I hold on. Come here.
- 7:19One second. What's that again?
- 7:20You. Have to go sign autographs.
- 7:23Connie, come here, baby. Connie, say hi to everybody.
- 7:27Hi. Connie's a bad ass.
- 7:28She she pays attention to me. And where did I see you?
- 7:31Down in Muskogee. Muskogee.
- 7:34Yeah. Salina.
- 7:36Salina Oh, Herminator, the dirt racer, as brother Russy say we
- 7:41run that old dirt car seem like it all dirty.
- 7:43Herman, if you if you keep the left front on the ground, you
- 7:46probably go faster. OK, where's my my baby?
- 7:51OK, so I ran one time and I did it for Tony Stewart and I didn't
- 8:01do it for myself. But I will never forget slamming
- 8:04Sammy Swindell, saying, Wallace, you don't, you don't deserve to
- 8:08be here. And I'm like, you're right,
- 8:09Sammy. But I'm here because Tony
- 8:11Stewart asked me to race here because he said you're not a
- 8:15dirt racer unless you run the Chili Bowl.
- 8:19And I'm going to enjoy with this.
- 8:22Stay my lane. You look at slamming Sammy
- 8:26Swindell. He's the best at this stuff.
- 8:29Now, I know you all got some new ones, but that's my Chili Bowl
- 8:33story. Respond right here with your
- 8:35Chili Bowl story. But I know the only one out of
- 8:39the stock car ranks that's not any good at the Chili Bowl is
- 8:43Tim Mccreaty, or as I say, Barefoot Bob Mccreaty's boy.
- 8:49Well, yeah, but yeah. But she said, oh, Christopher
- 8:52Bell. Yeah, but we're talking, we're
- 8:54talking, we're we're talking dirt, Super Late Models and Nick
- 8:59Kaufman's starting to show up, but like Jonathan Davenport,
- 9:04Superman, they come here and they make it to the queue.
- 9:08Main or what? All right, everybody, hope you
- 9:11enjoyed it and have a great Tuesday.
- 9:14We're headed up to Johnny Morris's Bass Pro Shops in
- 9:18Springfield, MO Say goodbye, Kim.
- 9:21Goodbye, Kim.
