- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: growth is only possible when you realize that getting on couples where you actually need to be.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: And that can be well uncomfortable.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Scary, a little scary, but you may already be doing some things that will help take you to the next level.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: My friends, action brings clarity.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's do this.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So today is the 710 Mega Napple Gate.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Take it away there.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Leslie?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the beat till you see interview recap on my coast and life, Brad and I are going to dig into the strategic combo I have with making apricot in our last episode.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, it was strategic.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: She, she is like a resume whisperer.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think LinkedIn Queen.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yes, which we all mean included, but like I just kind of, like you guys, if you have been one of those people who doesn't apply for a job because you don't qualify for all parts, you need to talk to Megan because she's a badass.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, it's before you into that.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: you can go listen to her right now.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: And then listen to us talk about some stuff before we talk about Megan.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: Today is July 23rd, 2026, and it's a national gorgeous grandma day.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: So today we celebrate the incredible grandmother as in our lives each year.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: This special day encourages us to recognize their timeless beauty, unwavering love, and invaluable wisdom.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: You know, as we're reading this, I'm just thinking about my two grandmas.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just gonna say,
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Invaliable wisdom.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: I love green love.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not, I will give them there.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even, I don't even know, timeless beauty.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: Mike, my grandmother was beautiful.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: Both my grandmas have beautiful on their own way.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: One looks like an actual grandmother from the day.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was out of the womb and the other one had tattooed eyeliner and purple hair.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: So...
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Amazing.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, invaluable wisdom.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: Show your appreciation by spending quality time assharing them with gifts or simply telling them how gorgeous they truly are.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: Seriously if your gorgeous grandma is still here on this earth, pause this now and call her and then come back because we're going to talk about making apple gate.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Brad inserted that very seamless and it's in there.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: He knows I don't read these things before I go on here.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I'm like that one reporter.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Ethan, I've been always makes fun of because he just reads whatever's on the teleprompter.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I would just get myself in so much trouble because I would just read it on the teleprompter.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: But then I'm like, what?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Polaris.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: On wavering love and invaluable wisdom.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, one of my grandmothers, the first time she drove, she backed the truck into a tree and left the engine running until it died, backed into a tree.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: And so she never got a driver's license.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: So that was some wisdom.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Never drove again.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's hilarious.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, she was a stubborn one.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, you guys, I have a teacher training program that I've been talking about online now.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: So I have to share it here.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: If you listen to the FYFs, I've been kind of penting at a project that I've been working on for quite some time and really part of the work I'm doing.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: And so now we can actually share it.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: So it's all true.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's called Uplift and the L as the capital and that because I like to be cute.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it's going to start probably early next year, and you'll be able to find an epic teacher trainer in near you that will host my program.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: So if you know someone who wants to become a prize instructor or you're listening this and you've done some instructor training, but not a full comprehensive.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to want to get on the wait list to go through the uplift program, which is
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if you are already comprehensively trained and you would prefer to train directly with me, and you actually want to be in my mentorship program, or some people call it a master's program, and you want to go to elevate, and we're going to do, well, we already have done a live Q&A call, because it happens on July 9th.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what...
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: This is July 23rd, 2021.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: I just said the date.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's national grandma's day.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: So looking at Brad in a real time trying to make this sheet.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: So anyways, you missed the live call, but you can still watch it and hear all about it.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: And if there's any spaces in 2028, you can go to LeslieLogan.co slash elevator.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if you're like 2028 that so far away, look, if you just want to go through the training that I've created, uplift is going to be for you in 2027.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: And you can bridge with one of my educators.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to be with me,
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: And you want to mean elevate.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to be an uplift educator, you need to go through elevates.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: So there's all that.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, if you want to be an uplift educator.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you have to go through all of it as well.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: So yes, if you have questions about that just think you're like, this is my first time.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: Why does I want to read about the show with the fuck are they talking about the grandma's and Pilates, just keep listening.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: It gets better.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, stick to it.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to be and tell you see it for you.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: Our summer tour is literally around the corner.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: We are leaving very next week, I think, or like maybe in 10 days.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: So at the time of this recording, the first two stops are sold out.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: The third stop is a Nashville, and it has half, it has a work-on-up space left.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: Knoxville is our rooftop mat class that's going to be so fun.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really looking forward to that same me too.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then we'll be back in Greensboro.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: We've never been Greensboro in the summer.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: So this is really exciting.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really cool studio.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's an old mill.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're going to be in a guest to Georgia.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're going to be in Atlanta.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: Look, the time we're recording this.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: It had three spots left total at that stop and then one someone just bought one.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: So there are two spots left at the time we're recording, which is in Atlanta.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: net link into it.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: Then Huntsville, Alabama has five spots left today, which is not today.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: Then you're listening to this.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: So, Tech, then we have Birmingham, Alabama, and then Jackson, Mississippi, both of those had like two spots left today.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: And then we have Frisco, Texas, which is North of Dallas.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: There was room.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: There's plenty of room in the workshop there.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: As of today, not plenty, but there's room.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: El Paso.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have Spanish.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be really cool.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very excited.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very excited.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: Translator in Spanish.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's our first stop in El Paso to teach.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: So really, really excited about that.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, first time having a transitor in the United States.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so excited.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: I've had transitors before.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: But I like this is going to be so fun, but not in the States.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: So this is going to be great.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to have a pass.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: and then we're going to be in Tucson, a couple spots left there, and then Vegas, and that's half sold out.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: So just as all this is the bragging to say get your tickets while you're waiting for.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, see dot me slash tour.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: OPC dot me slash T O U R. Howard by Balanced Body, which means we have gifts certificates, prizes, and we're bringing technology equipment for you to try out.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: So you're going to want to go do that.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: And then if you are new here, don't forget to check out our Poliz flashcards.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: We'll have them at the tour, but you can actually get them from us.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: I had someone ask me, is it better to get from you directly or from Amazon?
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, if you like giving Jeff Bezos money, you can get it from Amazon.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: But if you want to give a small business, a family-owned team money, which means the money goes to, first of all, if you buy flashcards from us, we give money to the Nevada Space SPCA.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: and we give money to our team and all that good stuff and we can keep making these flashcards, you go to opc.me slash flashcards.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, she said, of course, I love supporting small businesses and I said, thank you.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then we also have posters and people have been asking about this and you want to know something, don't buy the ones on Timo.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: They stole mine and you are welcome, while we are waiting for them to take that shit down, to go find them and leave a shitty review
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: that have good images.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: Tell us how you really feel.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so fucking pissed.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pissed, but I have my, I, I have my, I need a moment on the fuck you Friday's now, and so I think I've mentioned it already there.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, OPC got me such posters as where you get the posters.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: And you kind of want both, just saying.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: kind of both.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: And the posters ship from wherever they print around the world.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: So my peeps who live internationally, the shipping on the posters is not going to be terrible.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: The flashcards, so sorry for where you live, but we do have people.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: We have people in high places like Canada and Australia and we are working on some other work on the UK.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a couple of options.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: Think time travel like things move slowly.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: Just going to say
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: All right, as you know, we talk about a charity and this week's charity, who's up Brad?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this week where we are featuring Project Marilyn, this week we're Highland Project Marilyn, Elas Vegas, non-profit, fighting period poverty right here in Southern Nevada, founded in 2019 by Wendy.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: I am gonna butcher this name about sweetheart.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Or sweetheart.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And named after her late mother Marilyn, or probably a gorgeous grandma.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was clearly, she must be a gorgeous grandma.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she had a daughter.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: Well, she had a daughter, her daughter might not have a daughter, but her daughter is giving.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, she's probably a gorgeous grandma.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: Her daughter is giving period supplies for free to all these kids around here, so that she kind of has a lot of grandkids.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: If you had the organization, make sure everyone has a healthy dignified period by providing monthly bags of tampons, pads and hygiene wipes, the people who cannot afford them.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Supplies that are among the least donated and most overlooked basic needs out there.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: And the programs like SNAP and WIC won't cover.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's like your food stamps.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so what started with one woman honoring her mom has grown into a real local force, a volunteer crew called the period posse back to back best nonprofit recognition in the Las Vegas review journals best of Las Vegas reader poll and
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: a tripling of its reach in just the last couple of years all while staying lean and locally run if you ever take a clean dignified period for granted, this is the chance to make sure someone else can also like so many of us who have all the access to all the periods of lies in the world have had moments where it doesn't feel dignified and so if you're I mean, also we charge a lot for that.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: That way too.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's very, it's taxed.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's tax.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's fucking annoying.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like if men need a period supplies, they be fucking free.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I I I know it feels like we harp on that, but like like men stuff, but like truly a wood it would the fucking female racers are more expensive than the same fucking thing they just make him pink and charge more so.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: If you are like guys, why did you do a Las Vegas?
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: What I actually have had connections with Project Maryland.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: I've done I've been at different shared events that they're at.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: They do really great work.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: If you were in Las Vegas and you go to their website, you can actually find out where they have locations for free period supplies.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like the local library, you go.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you just say I have a package from Maryland.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: And they will just give you free period supplies.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's another cutest thing.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty cute.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: there's another organization that sponsors them that's more national and that is the alliance for period supplies and they are doing really great work trying to do different things in the left legislation and we're also working at any period of poverty and so it looks like this one works with smaller organizations to keep getting the supplies out there.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll go to projectmarlin.com and ARIL white if you want to donate or if you're looking for
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: alliance for period supplies.org.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: Just so we're we're all clear.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: 76% of Americans believe periods of pies should be free of charge of public schools and public universities.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: And you know where they were free my whole adult life?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: Equinox, I could get free periods of pies at my fancy gym.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Good night.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I could.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: You can't.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I was parts of being a member.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: But anyways, I just really like this.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: I like the idea.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think if we could help, it would also be great if these
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: businesses would stop making the tampons and crinkly loud paper, so these poor girls don't have to hide it in their sleeve and the crinkles and that everyone knows what they're doing.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's not making things embarrassing and also teach boys to not be assholes about it.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: All right, now we're good.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm off my, I'm off my soapbox.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: I will, hey, if you have a charity that we think we should feature or if you have a question that we might answer on our Sunday YouTube lives go to be at pod dot com slash questions that's be it pod dot com slash questions and you can leave us either a win for the Friday episodes or a question or no questions you can leave a charity the link is so outdated but we're not changing it because it's it's live in there you get the questions we answer on Sundays on YouTube.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I just said.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: But you can send your question and we'll answer it on YouTube on on on on Sunday.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: You can want to.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: I guess yeah.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: So stick around.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about Megan Applegate.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: She's the founder of career blueprint solutions and a recruiter resume writer and career coach who has spent the last seven years helping high achievers land the roles they actually want.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: After 20-year career in hospitality, she pivoted into recruiting and built her business from the ground up.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Today, she guides clients through the realities of modern hiring from getting past the applicant tracking systems to position yourselves a LinkedIn, so the right opportunities come directly to them.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was really excited to have her on because like, you know, not everyone who listens to this wants to have their own business.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people listen this want a good job and then like there's so much uncertainty in the world with AI and all these different things and I'm tired of hearing how like the statistics, even though we've known it for years, where women are just not necessarily applying for.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: jobs that because they don't have them hit all the boxes they think and she is like she's really navigated the change and how you apply for things, how you position yourself and she's quite good at it in a way that maybe feel like, oh I could walk and have a resume.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean I'm not going to do it right in my bio, just make me cry.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: for people who need that, people who, you know, we just had Claire Sali on talking about exiting, curvy exiting a job, whether it's your choice or someone else's.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: And so I just thought this is a really great resource for everyone who was really inspired by that episode.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: Something I love that she said is that, like,
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: Understand that as you grow you will naturally pivot your career business and I thought that was really cool because I think it's really easy to compare ourselves to like past generations and like we feel like our why our jobs are not linear.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: So then we look spastic and it's like no actually it just shows that you are learning and that learning is taking you into another direction and then like you know it's kind of like your curiosities are taking you to different places and so she said it's important to stay relevant by
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: That is a great thing that we could be doing because it forces us to actually keep our Brain young and involve them what's going on and sometimes we just get so set and doing things the same way and We there might be a better faster way or a way that actually challenges you or way that you could learn something new Because if you are learning every single day, it really does keep you Current and up to date of what's going on makes you more hireable
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it's easy to just sit back and be like, okay, I'm, I got this, it's wrote and so you're not actually staying on top of the industry and the changes in the tech and all that stuff.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's also hard.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: We have so much things to do and like, you know, we do, but one of the things that we do in our our company is we challenge our team and we say, look, you are the expert on video editing.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just say so.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: When you're out there scrolling through Instagram and you're in your world doing your thing, you know, and you find a tool that you think makes sense to help you with this job, that's the kind of thing that you're going to come across where we are not.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: And if it's relevant, then you can bring it into the conversation.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: And what does that tell me as a z-employer?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this person's paying attention.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to be, you know, more efficient or
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that goes a long way.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, honestly, if you're a Pilates teacher, this is effectively continuing education.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same kind of a thing.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and also, it's interesting, because like speaking of Pilates education, like I announced the teacher training yesterday for a record of this.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I had immediately someone going, well, those are gonna be workshops after the program.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, of course, and also, first people have to go through the program.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_02]: So there probably won't be that until after 2028, because they, and maybe longer, because they won't know what continued education they want to do, because what I loved about, but making my saying is like, yes, keep learning every day and go with like what exciting for you and challenging you because the, the thing that happens is like too often, we are like, I have to learn everything.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: And then I got people taking both pyramid of pause and
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: pelvic floor, hemological and scoliosis.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: And those are, you know, and then you're a logical stuff.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: And then you've got people who want to like study like NFL people.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, you, that's too many different types of people.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: You can't be an expert.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: You'll get overwhelmed and that's going to stress you out.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: And so you, you won't know what you're like most interested in or who you're attracting.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then, so you get, you get good at what you're doing.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: And then you're like, oh, I'm going to trust this expertise.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's what Megan said.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: And then you're going to go, oh, I'm going to go over here and learn this thing.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: right and and take every day as she said and learn.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think it does take some time.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: You got to get good at your job.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: So you know what the job is and then you've got to go, I could do this better or faster.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: We could be doing this over here.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: And when you do those things, your bosses do pay attention.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have to make note of that because it's going to help you if you want to switch jobs.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's totally fine to switch careers and switch jobs because it might be in
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, I want to get into what you want to do.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, it rolls right into it.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I was going to focus on what she was talking about the cost of comfort, right?
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's effectively the same thing.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you're just, if you're like, this is wrote.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to think about it.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just, you know, clock it in and clock it out.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: There is a cost to that, right?
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: Basically what she says is that it equals
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: staying stagnant and the same when you're comfort right growth is only possible when you realize that getting on couples where you actually need to be and that can be well uncomfortable scary little scary but you may already be doing some things that will help take you to the next level but when you are thinking bigger thinking outside the box when you are applying other things you're
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to shift and change and it might be a little bit uncomfortable.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: You might actually have to go have a conversation with, you know, the person that you might work for and say, I have this thought.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think about this and and and then it that actually again brings them brings to their attention that you're, you know, thinking for thinking.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: But it also helps when you're uncomfortable.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: it's consistently challenging and challenges you in a way where imposter syndrome can be, you know, easy to have sneak in.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: So you're you're constantly pushing against that and it's like, the more it's a muscle, like the more you practice.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Being in an uncomfortable place, the stronger you will be when you're battling like the imposter syndrome.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: I just had someone tell me, you know, like that they're putting off doing this one thing because they just had some imposter syndrome around it and they're like, you know, I'm already doing this thing over here, but I just like if I take the final test and like,
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I fail.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: I would just like kill me and I was like, oh my gosh, you have a pot.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm Poster syndrome.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: You are you kind of extra workshops.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: You've done a conference of training.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: There are shitty teachers out there who've done one training who are stealing my lines and someone else's lines and put it out there and because of of their sexy outfit in thousands of followers and they're asshole teachers.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: You are a great teacher and you're letting Poster syndrome keep you from finishing?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: No, next time you haven't posture much to think about the asshole teacher who does not care as much as you out there making the money you're not making.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know, sometimes you have to figure out like, what is there are people who are not deserving of the job or the thing or the role or the raise that you need and want and deserve and they're getting it because they're they're not getting stuck in the impossible.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: They're not letting the wall hit them.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I think
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's very rare that someone else is like, you're not qualified to do this.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, there are haters on the internet that are going to leave comments and say that.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: And those people can take a long walk.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: But this conversation typically happens hidden like in your own net.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: And so in those moments, you could speak it out loud.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, if you say it out loud, it does sound really.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: It does, sometimes it sounds silly, silly.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's helpful.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: Where it doesn't have as much power.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have any silly, but you're like, whoa, what a weird thing to think.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the other day I was battling an internal conversation.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought, what's the worst that could happen?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what is the absolute worst scenario in this fear that I have, right?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then I spoke it out loud.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh my god, everything could come crumbling down or whatever it was, right?
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: And like, then I thought about, okay, well, what if that did happen, what would happen next?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, what, what would happen after that?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'd have to get back up and start over, you know, and what I do it.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I would, you know, it would probably not be fun or exciting, but now I would go back into it knowing all the things that I know today, and I would skip every mistake that I made the first time doing whatever the thing was, right, because I already have the lived experience and knowledge, right?
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's so easy to get in your heads and say those things to yourself because someone somewhere along the lines told you it, like, or may you feel that way.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: And so not just this thing.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, like, when I was studying with BJ Fog about habits, like unraveling those thoughts is really difficult to do because you have to be aware that you're having the thought at the time to unravel what's the prompt that's happening.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: But,
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: At some point, you do become aware, and that's where, like, just speaking out loud will be helpful, because it does take its power away.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: And if you were to tell your best friend you were having that thought for, fucking sure.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: They would be like, are you what the fuck are you what are you talking about like what's going on here Like this one thing I went to they made us all right down the things that we say to ourselves, you know, the shitty things we say to ourselves and it's right down and then Freedom out Get this come on they even worse They called they asked for two volunteers and these two girls stood up there stood up and I was switched they made them switch the letters.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then read it to look the person in the face and read it.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: You're ugly.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're fat.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know what you're talking about.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm crying.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know what you're doing.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: You made these stupid mistakes and they can't get to the letter because they are crying because they're like, well, it's not true.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't her and they're like, it's not true for you.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: You're crying because you know, like, anyways, oh my god, it's so awful.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: But it works.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's powerful.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's drama.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: But do you know like if you like yeah, it's being out loud.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: Got to speak it out loud.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well stick around.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh And I welcome back.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Let's dig into those be it action items.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: What bold executable intrinsic or targeted action items?
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: Can we take away from your combo with Megan Applegate?
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: She said shift your perspective to view your resume like a sales document that paints a picture of your value now There's so much in that one sentence
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: shift your perspective so that you view your resume like a sales document.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: That paints the picture of your value.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: After listening to this interview, I was really interesting because one of the things she's kind of slid in there, but one of my biggest takeaways was she said I get these amazing fantastic candidates for roles and as a recruiter, I recruit them to then place them.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: And she said they've all the things.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: They look good.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: They they are successful.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: They've got an amazing history They've got the resume, but then when they go to their LinkedIn, it's empty right and it makes them look like they Don't like this shit.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: They're not present.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and and so it was really interesting because we coach people all the time When they're like, do you have to post an Instagram like no, but yes
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: Because you don't have to post every four seconds on Instagram, but if someone in your neighborhood is like, oh, I'm looking for a Pilates teacher and they look up a blank Instagram profile, they're going to be like, is it open?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: Is this person real?
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, I'm not sure.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you don't have to post daily, but you could post once a week.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, even every other week as long as looks like, oh, they were around.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just once once a month, it's just that there needs to be something there for them to see you.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: Just for them to see the experience that they're going to get.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, so with the LinkedIn thing though,
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: She said, you want to be positioning yourself as a thought leader.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought, oh, that's really interesting.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: What does it mean to be a thought leader?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: Our guests Ryan May McAvoy kicks ass up this on LinkedIn.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to see an example, the size may and navigate.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: Ryan May McAvoy will blow your mind.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: She is a thought leader in the HR world, so I think about her all the time.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, so, you know, how do we do that?
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: What what I would say is,
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you had a second teacher in your studio, or even if it's a home studio, let's just pretend you have a second teacher, right?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: And you tell the person here at my studio, this is how we do the thing, whatever the thing is.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: When they come in the door, we have a smile on our face.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: We treat them with whatever.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: these are like thought leader kind of thoughts where you're you're sharing your perspective, your expectation what you want to do and it doesn't have to be the super long, you know, 20 page article, it can just be quick snippets of things that you expect or do or whatever,
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: you know, for your space, for your clients, and honestly, once you get started doing this, it comes easier down the road, because you start to kind of get a hang of it, but it allows you to have an ongoing timeline of events on your LinkedIn profile, you know, if and when you ever did need to build a resume, she said, this is great because you, if you treat your resume
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: where are you pulling the resume stuff from?
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: If your thought leading is about a win that you just experienced, you know, today I sold a 10 pack and
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't seem like it's a big deal for people who don't understand the industry, but it's a big deal.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: What does it actually mean?
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: It means that a client made a decision to better power their life and all the things.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I get to be here guiding them through that experience, right?
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you could be saying, all right, cool.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that was my first ten pack.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I've sold 20 ten packs to different clients or whatever.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: It kind of operates like a description of your career in a way if you're marking these wins, celebrating these wins and turning them into some kind of a thought that you're just sharing on your profile, then later if you ever have someone look at your profile, it looks like you're a real person.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love that.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: What about you?
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, she had a four-step executable plan for a career advancement.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought that'd be fun to repeat, which is start by deciding if you want to stay in your field and specifically understand where that next promotion is.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: So like, the next step actually helping with that, but like I thought what a great action stuff you could take right now.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: Then search the internet for relevant job descriptions to find the key language, the KPIs and the keywords and players are using.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: So this way, you can start to see what wins you have that are around those things, because you might already be ready for the promotion at another company or you can actually strategically position yourself for a portion in your own company.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well look at those descriptions of figure what they're saying and what they need and the problems that they've solved so you can position yourself as a solution that goes back to Brad's thing on your resume and then update your resume and LinkedIn to signal people can find you so they can reach out for that specific role.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: So you're literally taking all the things that your next job wants and then fixing up your LinkedIn in your resume so it's ready and then you I don't know you turn your light on and like that's what they call it right they turn
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think you do.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then other people would like me and like that's how clear so I got the great job that she has.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you turn it light on, right?
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: Is that what you do?
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: Open to work.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, turn your light on.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: I was slightly looking to activate the open-of-work feature.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think they call it turn your light on, but it's called open-to-work.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: I guess you can't call it turn your light on, because it sounds like rocks and rocks and rocks and rocks.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: What's the one turn on?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's exactly the one that you referenced in the interview.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: What's the song?
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: What's the turn your light?
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: What's the song?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: San, are you talking about Santa Ana?
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: Put your lights on?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: Turn your light on.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: The overtones?
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't actually,
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: I guess rock stand we don't turn the light on.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then, but there is, there's a song.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's in my head.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: I tried to find it because you referenced it and I did not find it.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: So it's all right.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: It is a Judas priest song.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: Turn your light on.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if I know Judas That's one of the ADHD fails.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's like it's in there.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's in there.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: You guys.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Leslie Logan.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm Brad Crowley.

- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: So make sure you go to her website and check her out because she definitely has some really great tools.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_02]: You can go find her LinkedIn and do all that stuff.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Listen to her on episode because she's brilliant.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: So if this really resonates with you, but must Logan.

- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: You should send this episode to a friend who hates her job right now.

- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it's called.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, for Megan's episode, goes there.
