- 0:02This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering one piece
- 0:13episodes four thirty nine, four forty and four forty one. Lufy's treatment begins,
- 0:21ivon Son's Miraculous Power and Believe in Miracles, bone Clay's Cries from the
- 0:28Heart, and Lufy's beck ivan Son begins the breakout plan. In these episodes,
- 0:39we have got such amazing storytelling. I you, guys, I loved
- 0:48these three episodes so much. I loved them. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:03of Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:17to Michael for commissioning this episode. What's up, Michael? Appreciate you guys.
- 1:25These were such fun what weird? What weird turn this whole story has
- 1:32taken. I never expected us to like be here, like you know.
- 1:37I think in the last episode, I was saying how I had to accept
- 1:42that most of what's being done with this queer community storyline is not in good
- 1:47faith, but that I feel like I can take it in good faith anyway
- 1:52if I just decided to purposely sort of misread some things. And I think
- 1:56it was Seraphim who said that it actually wasn't in bad way. Faith that,
- 2:00like you know, Oda is supportive of the queer community, but just
- 2:06the way that they do it for the anime has to be so kind of
- 2:08overblown, and I felt a little bit more like able to accept that in
- 2:16these episodes where things are saying that I was about to say things are toned
- 2:23down, that is not at all true. It's not toned down, but
- 2:30it feels like it's sincere. Finally it's getting past the like silly shock and
- 2:39it's getting into some actual, like emotional beats that I really really appreciate.
- 2:45So I love to you guys that y'all know there are as is the case
- 2:53with so many of these episodes, there are a few like Mo that the
- 3:00animators clearly decided, well, we're just gonna animate like two seconds of this
- 3:07and then we're gonna use that animation repeatedly over and over. And because we're
- 3:14still in this bar, there is so much repetition because these people are mostly
- 3:23dancing, and there is something extra surreal about the fact that every time we
- 3:30see them dancing, they're kind of doing the same thing. And it's not
- 3:35on purpose, I don't it's it's not meant to be surreal, but it
- 3:38felt, you know what it reminded me of personally, It really reminded me
- 3:43of like David Lynch a little bit, or I actually don't know who was
- 3:50the director of Donnie Darko, but it reminded me of like that kind of
- 3:57thing where it's it's almost dream sequence and you can just turn your head and
- 4:03somebody's apparently repeating the same motion over and over in a way that isn't actually
- 4:11the way people would normally behave. And I felt like there was a funny
- 4:17element here where that wasn't purposeful, but it was actually really effective. So
- 4:26I'm gonna have to get some help here. Remind me Florian's the only one
- 4:31in the chat. I think what the name of the hiding place is again,
- 4:41but Iva is the name of the queen, so to speak, if
- 4:46I'm not mistaken. And yet so we pick up. Everybody's still dancing.
- 4:51I was still on the stage, like you know, saying he haw and
- 4:56just like generally getting the crowd hyped up, and in the audience, Bonclay
- 5:04is watching, and there is something about the way that Bonclay is animated that
- 5:11almost makes it look like he's not happy to meet Iva, like it was
- 5:17difficult for me to decipher what his reaction really was, because it seemed like
- 5:25at first he was upset or just shocked in a sort of unpleasant way,
- 5:30but then he gradually seems to kind of get over that. And there's this
- 5:35funny part where Iva is pretending that he's going to faint maybe collapse, and
- 5:42everybody's shouting out, oh my god, are you okay? And then maybe
- 5:47I won't collapse and oh you were joking. So this is when Bond is
- 5:54like, are you the miracle Worker? And everybody in the audience is like,
- 5:59you better be more respectful when you talk to Iva. He's royalty poo
- 6:05bow down before the Queen of New Comma and uh, New Comma, that's
- 6:14what it was, okay. Oh yeah, Florian says, the hiding places
- 6:18level five point five, New Comma Land. What is also the name of
- 6:23the island that Sanji is on? Okay? Yes, thank you. So
- 6:30this there's a lot of time spent just establishing. I love the fact that
- 6:35Iva is uh calling everybody his little Candies and there's just like such a great
- 6:45name. I just really really like it. And he says, like anybody
- 6:51can call me whatever, I whatever. They want I don't sweat the salt
- 6:56small stuff. They could even call me dookie, but he just screams,
- 7:00never call me dukie, and somebody in the audience then why did you say
- 7:06it? Ah, he got me again. This is such a weird bit.
- 7:14So I have a keeps repeating never call me dukie until somebody comes stalking
- 7:23through the door. And this is really funny to me because like, I
- 7:29just want to really point out I want to step back for a second and
- 7:31point out the fact that we've got this like prison that has supposedly got such
- 7:39renowned security, and there's this entire sub space that they have created that they
- 7:48are living in that isn't on the radar. Everybody has been like, I
- 7:54guess demons are stealing people, and we're all just gonna let that be the
- 7:59story that's circulates, even though our security is legendary. We don't talk about
- 8:07this part. But then also this whole performance gets interrupted by this dude busting
- 8:15in and he is like a caricature. He almost reminds me of the animation
- 8:22from Spider Verse of h what's his name, mister Fisk, where he's got
- 8:28the really really huge shoulders and thick neck and his head almost seems to just
- 8:33float in the middle of this, like just plane of shoulders. But uh,
- 8:41he wasn't. And he's got like a bazooka. And I'm just going,
- 8:43where in the hell are you even getting this weapon from? And how
- 8:48did you get out and find this place? Like the security here is a
- 8:52joke, frankly, and he's really angry. He says, fifteen years ago,
- 9:03my father, who was the king of my homeland, like visited your
- 9:09country, and then he came home and came back to us as a queen.
- 9:18And there's a bunch of people like sort of shocked or giggling to each
- 9:24other. Do you have any idea how ashamed I was? His family and
- 9:28his country were ruined, and I fell from my princely status to nothing but
- 9:35a lowly pirate. But all the days I spent suffering living in this hell
- 9:41are well worth it if I get one shot at the monster who destroyed my
- 9:46life. And I was up here sweating bullets, knees literally knocking together,
- 9:54going no, please, don't do it. Where did you even get that
- 9:58thing? Don't point that at me, you have mercy. I'm fragile If
- 10:05you shoot me with that I'll die, you'll kill me, you can't kill
- 10:11me, And at the beginning of this he had seemed so sincerely afraid,
- 10:22but then as he reaches the end of that you can't kill me, he's
- 10:26like kneeling and fist pumping like he's just won a victory or you know.
- 10:31It's a weird like transition, and the guy with the gun just gets really
- 10:35really angry and looses a cannon ball at Iva, who then says nu uh
- 10:43uh death wink and just winks in the direction of this cannon ball, which
- 10:52releases a pink cloud of gas which catches the ball and sends it directly back
- 11:01at the guy who shot at Iva and takes him out, so he goes
- 11:09careening over, and Iva is being cheered on by the crowd. Of course,
- 11:16all of this is being observed by Bonclay in this particular way where he's
- 11:20like, I there was almost an impression of like the way that Iva was
- 11:28behaving at first was giving the impression that Iva wasn't going to be able to
- 11:35take care of himself, that he was really genuinely like helpless here and begging
- 11:43for mercy in a way that's like sort of pitiful, and all of a
- 11:48sudden is able to whip out this weapon with this wink, just a wink
- 11:52that is so impressive. And then all of a sudden, Iva like takes
- 11:58this huge leap land's in front of this guy and yells emporio female hormone.
- 12:07And these claws come up out of the gloves that he's wearing, these like
- 12:13magenta gloves, and he swipes at this guy and nails him like right in
- 12:20the pectoral with these claws, and the guy says, what was that?
- 12:26And then all of a sudden his body begins to transform until he looks like
- 12:33a woman instead, and Iva is saying, your father wanted to become a
- 12:41woman. Tell me what's wrong with that? And the prisoner is continuing to
- 12:50transform. Two mothers and one son, two fathers and one daughter, what's
- 12:54wrong with that? You're all family? And finally the prisoner's transformation is complete
- 13:03and it's a blonde woman. And because the guy wasn't wearing pants, now
- 13:09there's you know, or wasn't wearing a shirt. This is a topless woman
- 13:13in pants that are way way way too big. So he's like cleaning the
- 13:20pants up around himself and just going, oh god, this is so humiliating,
- 13:26and Bonclay of course, is just like wait, what how did this
- 13:33just happen? Are you kidding me? Everybody else begins applauding, and Iva
- 13:41is just standing watching and going, oh my god. The face. The
- 13:50spotlight comes on and he gets a mic and says, you could become a
- 13:54woman or become a man, he haw, or maybe you could be both.
- 14:00You should be able to decide for yourself, right, And everybody's out
- 14:07here dancing, cheering on, continuing as Bonclay watches, mouth agape that which
- 14:13you call gender is a label. It's nothing but a border. I have
- 14:16no need for it. No, everyone here is beyond it. We've all
- 14:22crossed over that silly border, which means you're looking at the new human race,
- 14:28New Comma, this is the garden of freedom, New Kama Land hee
- 14:39Haw, and camera backs up. We see the entire crowd going absolutely wild
- 14:46for this, and of course these dudes continuing to dance in this weird way
- 14:50that they dance, and eventually the attacker gathers himself up and it's just like
- 14:58oh my god, and just runs away. Now this is something that is
- 15:05so rife with like I don't even know what to think here, because the
- 15:13weirdness of deciding that we are going to, like the weapon is going to
- 15:20be transforming people into a different gender. It's so fascinating, like the implications
- 15:30of this, and it's honestly kind of a fucked up thing to do when
- 15:35you think about it. Like the point of the point of what IVA is
- 15:41saying, which is that gender is a construct, obviously I agree with and
- 15:48that it's up to you whatever gender you actually are. But basically what IVA
- 15:56is doing is like taking a way the identity that this guy actually aligns with
- 16:06and forcing him into a body that doesn't fit. And at the same time,
- 16:15what i've A could have done is simply kill him, because this guy
- 16:19came in to kill iv A for something that is not his fault, even
- 16:26though I was being blamed for it. His dad became a woman, and
- 16:32now he's wants somebody to blame for it. So I'm not trying to say
- 16:36that he doesn't deserve something fucked up happening to him, but I do think
- 16:41it's interesting that what IVA has done is sort of inflict upon this guy the
- 16:47experience of living in a body that you know isn't correct, Like you don't
- 16:53actually identify with your own body, and you feel like you are in the
- 16:57wrong one, and that is how your father had felt at one time,
- 17:03and now you get it. But it was done to you magically, so
- 17:07it feels more literally true, but is not actually any more valid than anybody
- 17:14else's experienced who feels like their body does not correlate, you know. So
- 17:22it's just a really interesting like the implications of this are fascinating. And also
- 17:29the overall thing with Iva is that he administers hormones, Like that's a lot
- 17:33of his attacks are hormone based. And I really like this in a way
- 17:41that's like not ironic at all, because what I think a lot of us
- 17:45fail to think about in terms of our existence and identities as people and the
- 17:52way that we feel about certain other people or ourselves or situations is so highly
- 17:59high dependent on hormones, even though we don't want to believe that, which
- 18:03I completely understand, Like why would you want to believe that? It's not
- 18:07fun to realize how completely at the mercy your health, your like mental state
- 18:15is on something that is completely outside of your control. And this is something
- 18:22that anybody who has got mental illness is all too familiar with, like,
- 18:26as somebody who suffers from pretty intense depression and also ADHD. My body just
- 18:33doesn't make the hormones and chemicals that it should, and I just get to
- 18:41sit here and be fucking suicidal because it's just not enough serotonin, really,
- 18:48and that's for real, Like, and other people just they just get that
- 18:53serotonin. They just get it. Their body's just make it. And it's
- 18:56just like fine, how unfair is that? And if I had just a
- 19:02body that functions slightly more effectively, I wouldn't feel as miserable as I feel
- 19:11a lot of the time. And there that's pure luck. Like, you
- 19:15don't choose the body that you get born into unless you believe you do,
- 19:21but there's no evidence for that. So ultimately, so much of the way
- 19:26that like we can move through the world and the ways in which we function
- 19:32and what we're able to, like the kinds of things that we are able
- 19:38to be successful at, are going to be so much more limited because our
- 19:45possibilities have been closed off to a degree by what our bodies will allow.
- 19:49And so the concept of actually somebody who can just affect your hormone levels is
- 19:56really really interesting, especially like in terms of mod food and things like that.
- 20:00I mean, I am just really this is there's so much to this
- 20:07that I want more answers to And it reminds me a little bit of like
- 20:12when Miles and I were covering Twilight, you know, we were talking about
- 20:18the way is that Jasper's potential power could work because it's such a strange thing
- 20:25where he can affect mood, but is that actually physically changing the like level
- 20:36of chemicals in the body. And I believe that. Eventually Miles and I
- 20:40came to the conclusion that it was because Bella is affected by Jasper's powers when
- 20:45she is not affected by a lot of other powers, and there are some
- 20:51that she is, but many she's not. And it seemed like what Stephanie
- 20:55Meyer eventually said was that any powers that were like mind related, like illusion
- 21:02sort of powers that would cause like Bella's mind to be violated or under attack,
- 21:11that is the kind of thing that she was impervious to. But when
- 21:14it came to like a physical thing, it affected her just the same as
- 21:18anybody else. So that was like what the solution sort of wound up seeming
- 21:23to be, was that Jasper was affecting chemical levels in people's bodies to relax
- 21:30them or make them more tense and angry or whatever in response to any given
- 21:34situation. And see Florian says this is not confirmed, but I think Iva's
- 21:42powers wear off after a time. It is just hormones that the body can
- 21:48metabolize. Just Headcannon though, interesting, Well, who knows. I get
- 21:55what you mean though, Like if it's a hormone injection that has made this
- 21:57guy look like a woman, And then you know, if anybody is on
- 22:02like HRT because they are transitioning, you've got to keep that up. And
- 22:07if you don't, you start to suffer some really intense like symptoms of withdrawals
- 22:12and changes back to the body that you were originally born into. And it
- 22:18can be really traumatic, like because again a lot of effect, like it
- 22:25affects mood and it also causes like the dysmorphia that you originally were suffering from.
- 22:30So yeah, that makes sense that it would be like a temporary thing,
- 22:34because hormone changes are temporary. That's like the nature of them. So
- 22:41anyway, yeah, I just think this is so interesting. It's so weird,
- 22:44Like what a wild power. And I just again want to reiterate that
- 22:49I really am enjoying the rocky horrorness of this. Look, it's just really
- 22:56funny. So this is when Bonclay comes up and I've but insist on calling
- 23:02him bond boy. But Bonclay is like, I never stop believing that you
- 23:08were alive. I'm so glad I found you, but I have to ask
- 23:11you a favor. I want you to save my friend who was poisoned by
- 23:18Magellan. Please can you save his life? No antidote can help him.
- 23:22He's lying there, dying and there's nothing that I can do. And I
- 23:27have is like, oh, if you're talking about the straw hat boy,
- 23:32I've already started to give him treatment, that's already happening. Actually, the
- 23:37reason that we took care of you was because he begged us to, and
- 23:41we get a flashback of him like yelling out. And it turns out that
- 23:48what Lufi said, he was told that it was going to cost him ten
- 23:59years of his life for IVA to help him, and the way it was
- 24:02presented at first made it sound like IVA is some like it remind me of
- 24:10like a deal with the Fay, where you give up ten years of your
- 24:14life in exchange for a favorite. But what it seems like later on,
- 24:18based on the way I was talking about it, is he, by accepting
- 24:25what Iva can do to potentially save Lufy, it's going to cause Loufy to
- 24:33lose ten years of his life. It's not like Iva is simply out here
- 24:37collecting years of people's lives like the devil or like a fay queen. It's
- 24:44like, look, I can do this and help you, but you should
- 24:48know that if you are saved, it's going to have a repercussion on the
- 24:52other end. That's what it sounded like to me anyway. But yeah,
- 24:57Lufy agrees to it. So we jump out from here at this point for
- 25:03a little bit and just crack me up to Buggy and Mister Three, who
- 25:11are fleeing from the wolves on these wax stilts that they're running on, and
- 25:21because they're on stilts, they can take bigger strides, and these wolves are
- 25:26still like almost keeping up with them, and Buggy is like, we have
- 25:32got to get a move on or we are never going to lose these things
- 25:36because they are almost catching up and they're like not even sure where they're really
- 25:40heading. They don't know where the exit is and it Finally they reach the
- 25:44crest of a hill and it looks like there's stilts just break and they go
- 25:48down. But we go back then to the tunnels where Mister two is hearing
- 25:55Loofy screaming and he's so upset by this guy's which you would be like hearing
- 26:03people and animals suffer. I it's like the whole the whole thing for me
- 26:17is pain is so cruel, and so it's a necessary thing. We need
- 26:25to have pain to signal to us when we are hurt, when we need
- 26:29to take it easy. It's like there's use to pain, there's a point
- 26:32to it. But it is so difficult for me to understand how some people
- 26:41like enjoy inflicting pain, because I feel sick to my stomach when I begin
- 26:48to hurt somebody. And I have had to do things to care for my
- 26:52dogs that hurt them because they were with Sam especially, he had this like
- 26:56terrible infection because he just got his cone off in the middle of the night
- 27:02while I was asleep and got at his stitches and yanked him out, and
- 27:06he got a really bad infection. I wound up having to bring him into
- 27:11the bathtub every day and hose this debrided wound out and eventually he healed.
- 27:18But it was definitely like the kind of thing that if we hadn't caught what
- 27:23was happening, he could have died. And I had to do it,
- 27:29and the screaming yelps this dog would let out when I was doing it.
- 27:34I came so close to vomiting a couple times because it was so so upsetting.
- 27:41So this whole thing here with like mister two who is out here in
- 27:48the hole so to speak, and hearing Lufy just screaming, and I was
- 27:56like, he's been screaming like this since we started the treatment, and it's
- 28:00gonna keep going for like another two days. And when he says two days,
- 28:04I'm just going, oh my god, that's like way too long.
- 28:07He's not going to be able to make it to his brother in time.
- 28:11But it turns out he's a different type. He built different. So uh.
- 28:18He says, I wish you a pleasant journey to the Valley of death
- 28:23that is in the flashback, and then jams his pointy fucking fingers in Loofy's
- 28:30sides as he administers some like healing hormone. I don't even know what this
- 28:37looks like. But yeah, so this is what starts things off because it's
- 28:42causing Loufy to like have to detox, essentially, is what's going on.
- 28:49So poor mister two he's out in the hall and he's like he's been wailing
- 28:55like this for ten hours and he's like fallen to his knees. He is
- 29:02so upset, And yeah, I was just like, yeah, the spirit
- 29:08and hormones combined, I've drawn out his latent immunity and his body will start
- 29:15changing. Only time will tell whether he or that poison is stronger, but
- 29:25it's raging at extraordinary speeds. He will survive only if he can withstand that
- 29:30pain and escaping from death. Let's seem sorry, uh, because it's moved
- 29:36too fat. He will survive only if he can withstand all that pain and
- 29:38escaping from death does not come cheap. And it's an interesting thing because again
- 29:48I misread it at first, so it seemed like what he was saying was
- 29:53like he had to pay a high price. But I really think I I
- 30:00misread that at first, and that's not exactly what he means. He's paying
- 30:03a price, but it's not like two Iva specifically, it is in general
- 30:11because of what it is that he has decided he wants. And later on
- 30:18Iva is talking about because like mister two is saying, how can how can
- 30:25you leave him like this? And basically Iva's response is, look, he
- 30:32decided what he wanted to do, and I don't actually play much of a
- 30:37part anymore. I administered what I do and now it's up to him how
- 30:42bad he wants it. And the way that miracles work isn't just I can
- 30:51inject him with something and it just happens. That's not it. The way
- 30:55it works is that somebody has to have the four of will to make it
- 31:03be. That's what the miracle really like comes from, is from their need
- 31:11and will power. And this is the sort of thing that I'm not too
- 31:18proud to admit. I think I wouldn't be great with you guys. Like
- 31:25there's a podcast that I listened to called Complete Guide to Everything, which is
- 31:27really fun, and there was a discussion once about, like, you know,
- 31:33the zombie apocalypse or whatever apocalypse you may have, and the ways in
- 31:41which you can survive and the variety of people out there and how they prep
- 31:47for it. Some people building bunkers, collecting supplies weapons, whatever, and
- 31:55one of the hosts was basically like, I don't want to survive if the
- 32:01world collapses and I have to like fight everybody in order to stay alive.
- 32:08Just kill me. It's fine. I don't want to stay alive badly enough
- 32:15to do the kinds of things i'd have to do to stay alive or to
- 32:20live through those things, and then carry that with me every day. I'm
- 32:25good. I'll just die and that's fine. It's really not a big deal.
- 32:34And I felt that so deeply in my heart, Like I mean,
- 32:39just let's get real, right now. Everybody, a lot of us have
- 32:44what's relatively, like, in a very relative sense, an easy life.
- 32:52We're not fighting for survival in a literal way, but we deal with enough
- 32:59problems and difficulties that sometimes being alive doesn't really feel worth it as it is.
- 33:07And you add on the need to like commit violence or endure violence or
- 33:15observe violence and have to carry that memory with you and like the levels that
- 33:21could reach in order to stay alive in a world that has otherwise kind of
- 33:25fallen apart, and I just feel like I'm barely interested in staying alive right
- 33:32now that doesn't sound like something that would interest me at all. Count me
- 33:38out, you know what I'm saying, Like, I'm good. So the
- 33:45way that I was framing this of just like you have to really want to
- 33:50stay alive, A big part of me kind of was like, oh yeah,
- 33:55I mean it makes sense because a lot of us just wouldn't fight this
- 34:00hard. We would just be like, hey, I did my best win
- 34:06some, loose some, and then we would lose one. That would be
- 34:09it. But Loufy is just built of different stuff. I'm sorry Florine is
- 34:17in the chat. I think what Iva did is speed up the process how
- 34:21cells are built and broken down. You know how we say after seven years,
- 34:24you're made out of completely new cells. That happens to loofy within hours
- 34:30to fight the poison. I see that's an interesting Okay, I like that
- 34:34theory. It is funny, though, Can we just talk about the fact
- 34:38that we're like, we're all new cells after seven years? How come we
- 34:45don't look new every seven years? Then? How come we're all fresh and
- 34:54new cells but we're still aging? That seems really unfair. I don't like
- 35:01that. So anyway, this results in the next episode, which is bon
- 35:10Clay outside of Lufy's door, simply like cheering him on. And I would
- 35:22have thought that this would be more annoying than it was, but I actually
- 35:27wound up feeling very touched by it, because the whole point of this is
- 35:31that Bonclay decides if he's going to have to experience this horrible pain and go
- 35:38through all of this, the least I can do is prove to him that
- 35:44he's not alone. And you guys, this is really this got me,
- 35:52like it just really did. I love this concept, and especially because I
- 36:00I love mister too so much I can't I know, I've said it so
- 36:04many times, but I really really mean it. The joy I have gotten
- 36:08from the story taking the turn it has with him is it's probably like my
- 36:20favorite development of the whole series. I almost thought that Lufy wasn't going to
- 36:28recover, and that what was going to happen was that Bonclay was going to
- 36:34have to go ahead and try and save Ace on his own, and that
- 36:37like maybe Lufy would begin to recover toward the end of that ordeal and he
- 36:43would finally be able to step in. But the main thing we were going
- 36:46to see was Bonclay having to step up to the plate in Lufy's place,
- 36:54and I would have believed he would do that because he is just so devoted
- 37:02and sweet natured, and I just love that he has been given the chance
- 37:10to like be more than a villain. This is so so much more interesting,
- 37:19and he had seemed to have so many very delightful, likable qualities to
- 37:23me, and I really wasn't sure if that was going to be explored at
- 37:29all. There so many times, not just with this series, but with
- 37:31so many others where a character gets introduced that you find like really fascinating and
- 37:37then they just sort of are very much like a side character, or even
- 37:40they get killed off pretty quickly and you're just like, oh, that's too
- 37:44bad. And so I didn't have any expectations at all about what was going
- 37:49to happen with him, and seeing that he was popping up in this arc,
- 37:52I was delighted, of course, but I never expected it to go
- 37:55where it has gone, and it's just completely exceeding all my expectations. The
- 38:01only thing now that could really bring it to the next level for me where
- 38:05I'm feeling truly satisfied is if Bonclay became a member of the crew, which
- 38:10I don't think is going to happen, but I desperately wish would happen.
- 38:16I would love that, like it just he belongs, you know, he
- 38:22just does. And I don't know, I could really see there being like
- 38:28a camaraderie with pretty much everybody because he is so he's such an encouraging type.
- 38:35You know, once he knows that he's got your friendship, he's going
- 38:37to be a cheerleader for you and always like be building you up. And
- 38:44I just don't see that there's anybody that he wouldn't get along with except may
- 38:47Bee Zoro because he's just kind of a stick in the mud a lot of
- 38:50the time with you know, he's just a pain in the ass. So
- 38:54anyway, oh my god, and I forgot because the horm horm fruit is
- 39:02the one that I've had. It gave me this fabulous power to alter the
- 39:08hormones of anyone I see. I can change their sex, body temperature,
- 39:14skin color, growth, even their emotions. I can remodel people from the
- 39:19inside out, like an engineer of the human body. The candy boys and
- 39:23candy girls you see here used my help to really kick gender in its sorry
- 39:29pants. Is that the best line kicked gender in its sorry pants. That
- 39:37is so hilarious. And as somebody who has frequently especially at the heights of
- 39:43my body body issues, fantasized about finding a genie with three wishes and choosing
- 39:53a like a body and exact body that I wanted, this would delightful.
- 40:00I would definitely like, I don't I'm not interested in changing gender, but
- 40:04I wouldn't mind some some tweaks. Sure wouldn't anyway, But all those hang
- 40:10ups are a thing of the past. Those aren't the kind of miracles we
- 40:14deal in here. I just provide the hormones. Everyone else provides the dream.
- 40:22So yeah, bon Clay, I was sort of wondering whether he was
- 40:28going to want a change himself. But it doesn't seem like bon Clay is
- 40:35interested in becoming a woman. It seems like Bonclay just wants to be able
- 40:38to, like, you know, dress and be how he wants to be.
- 40:45So I think he seems pretty content in that respect. And I was
- 40:52explaining how all of the people here were once prisoners that made their way here
- 40:59by sheer love. Every level of impel down has an entrance to this area,
- 41:07which that is really really important information because the fact that there's an entrance
- 41:16on every level means that they can get out onto every level, So they
- 41:21have a whole network now that they could be traveling through that isn't anywhere on
- 41:28the actual maps. And he says there's even one in the mortuary, which
- 41:35I'm going to call right now. Maybe a way for them to sneak out
- 41:42if you're in the mortuary. I don't know if you like burn the bodies
- 41:45there or what, but like if you're being sent somewhere to be buried,
- 41:47you could maybe sneak out inside a coffin or something. I don't know,
- 41:54but yeah, he says that we can get everything we need in this prison,
- 42:00a paradise hiding in the bowels of hell itself. The jailers would never
- 42:06believe such an absurdity exists. And we are still able to keep tabs on
- 42:13what's going on outside because we have a transponder snail, so we're able to
- 42:19like watch what the security guards are watching and keep up with other parts of
- 42:22the world. And I love the way this is like animated here. It's
- 42:28sort of like the transponder snail is just showing them like a movie, like
- 42:34everybody's in what seems to be a huge theater and eating popcorn and watching what's
- 42:39transpiring on those screen and he says, it's not every day that we get
- 42:45to see a break in and break out, so we've been really following what
- 42:50you've been doing with great interest. But this place wasn't always here. Some
- 42:55prisoner had a devil fruit power that was good for digging through stone, and
- 43:00they were the first to start chipping away at these caverns. That led other
- 43:05prisoners here a long time ago, and bit by bit, new recruits started
- 43:08building this place together. This paradise of ours is actually a bit like an
- 43:14ant farm made made through digging tunnels through the rock. And we are located
- 43:19between levels five and level six, and we get to see like just how
- 43:24big it is. It's quite an expansive area. And when he says level
- 43:29six, when Clay says six, wait, I thought there were only five
- 43:36and I thought we had heard about level six already. But maybe I'm mistaken.
- 43:45But yeah, I almost says it's not widely known, but that is
- 43:49where the true villains are kept locked away. They are all condemned to a
- 43:52lifetime sentence without parole. It is known as the Eternal Hell, exceedingly wicked
- 44:00crimes often covered up by the world government, and incidents that could damage the
- 44:05reputation of the powers that be. If you had tried to pull the same
- 44:10maneuver a little while back, it wouldn't have been so easy. And this
- 44:15was really interesting. There was another beastly batty guarding this prison not too long
- 44:20ago. You see, he was the jail manager of impelled Down, Sure
- 44:23you of the rain, And to size him up, he was just as
- 44:28strong as Warden Magellan. Honestly, considering most of the time that Magellan's spend
- 44:34sitting on the crap or you might have said, sure you, was even
- 44:36more fearsome. And we find out that sure it was like a fucking sadist
- 44:43maniac, to the point where Magellan had to step in a couple times and
- 44:49be like, dude, what are you doing? Oh my god, we
- 44:52have a reputation. You can't be pulling this kind of shit. If the
- 44:57atrocities that he calls them a trot cities that you're committing get out, our
- 45:04entire reputation is going to be fucking ruined. And the way that this conversation
- 45:13goes, I am not sure how exactly Magellan like takes him out. He
- 45:19says, I remind you were jailers, not butchers. No one cares about
- 45:23the lives of these vermin. And Magellan says, I won't tolerate this any
- 45:30longer. Impel down would be disgraced beyond measure. I must exercise my authority
- 45:36as warden and place you under arrest. And we just hear like the cell
- 45:46closing, and we see that this guy was behind bars. But I don't
- 45:54know why he didn't put up more of a fight, like or you know,
- 45:58if he's still alive. I have to sum he still is. I
- 46:01was saying he killed prisoners when and as he saw a fit, even on
- 46:07the slightest whim, he was completely out of control. So now they hold
- 46:10him in the darkest levels of six as a high security risk. Now,
- 46:16is this supposed to be somebody that we saw him when the camera was like
- 46:20down, so to speak, in ACES level because his face does not look
- 46:25familiar. But we've also had a lot of like shots of the people in
- 46:30the surrounding cells TOACE that are all shadow with just like eyes, and you
- 46:37don't really get any features. So I suppose it's possible that we kind of
- 46:43saw him, but we didn't actually get a look at his features. But
- 46:51yeah, and then I goes on, he's in fine company. Catalina Davon
- 46:58the world's most dangerous woman is down there, which is perfect timing because this
- 47:02wasn't This was a point when I started to be like, where are the
- 47:07women kept? Because clearly in this area nw COMA, there are women,
- 47:15but they could have just been transformed from men. So I wasn't really sure
- 47:20if the prison held women at all. We haven't seen any women prisoners,
- 47:27so apparently there are San Juan, Wolf, the Great Battleship, even heavy
- 47:36drinker Vasco shot names to make anyone tremble with fear. And I'm like,
- 47:43or not because we never heard of these people in our lives. I don't
- 47:46know what to tell you. Half the crimes these villains committed were so heinous
- 47:52that even the newspapers dared not to mention them. Your former boss is there
- 47:57too. I suppose it was pretty wild in his own way, and that
- 48:05is crocodile. And we get a little bit of like a, this is
- 48:09so funny, you guys, A little like sort of I don't know what
- 48:16to call this the animation is just like a confrontation between all of these characters
- 48:22facing down with each other and one like, we've got everybody here facing off
- 48:29with all of the baroque works people, but Oostap's got a really goofy expression
- 48:36on his face and like NAMMYA is sticking her tongue out. Everyone else is
- 48:39mean mugging except for those two, which I did find really really funny.
- 48:47And yeah, here it is. This is when h This is when Bunkley
- 48:53says, it just goes to show you the power of friendship, and he
- 49:00begins to do his little like pure wet spin. So this there's a sort
- 49:09of a I'm trying to like jump ahead here because I only have a few
- 49:13minutes left. Here it is, Oh yeah, So he knows that Lufy
- 49:23is Ace's brother. He's aware of that, but later on when he mentions
- 49:30the Dragon, who is one of his close friends, it turns out,
- 49:34because he is unsurprisingly a revolutionary, he had no idea that Lufy was related
- 49:40to Dragon. And it's interesting because Lufy says, like, I don't think
- 49:45it's a big deal. I think I can tell you my grandfather didn't keep
- 49:47it a secret. But he did keep it a secret because he doesn't tell
- 49:52Loofy until, like, you know, Lufy's sixteen or whatever. So I
- 49:59don't know if he's should be just like saying that shit, but it's probably
- 50:02fine. Too bad his plan is dead in the water. Now he's talking
- 50:09about Loofy because Lufy is still not woken up. But we can jump ahead
- 50:15and we get to the point where bon Clay is just outside his doors yelling
- 50:22for Lufy to like keep going. You can do it. You can just
- 50:25keep hanging on, and everybody is sort of like what is He's like wearing
- 50:30himself out, he needs to take a rest, and bon Clay is eventually
- 50:37iva steps in because people are kind of wanting to pull Bonklay away from the
- 50:40door, and I was like, no, he wants to prove to his
- 50:45friend that he isn't alone and it's not going to do him any harm and
- 50:50it very well maybe could help, so let him go ahead with it.
- 50:58So meanwhile, with the uh the other like security guys, they are reporting
- 51:06to Magellan that Loofy has disappeared. We have the discovery of Hannibal and him
- 51:14like tied to the ceiling without any of his clothing, or anything. It's
- 51:19an interesting like I had thought that, uh, mister two was able to
- 51:23transform himself into wearing actual clothing, but I guess he isn't. Like I
- 51:32thought that there had been a couple moments where he was able to do that,
- 51:35but or maybe it's just not really that consistent. I don't know.
- 51:39But yeah, So everybody else gathers around with blonclay and helps cheer Loofy on
- 51:45and his screen. I love how absolutely everybody here is wearing thigh high fish
- 51:50nets with uh, what do you call it? Garter belts? But we
- 51:58go back down to eight and the dude that he's with is like, well,
- 52:04maybe this woman was just pulling your leg And Ace is like, are
- 52:07you saying that she made her way all the way down here to talk to
- 52:13me? Just to lie to me? And I was like that's really like
- 52:17yeah, what do you even mean? And eventually he calms down and it
- 52:22is just like, look, I know you mean, well, but my
- 52:24brother absolutely would do this shit and bust in here. He just would.
- 52:30And then we cut back to Loofy, who is breaking his way out of
- 52:38the cell that he has been kind of like locked into, and he looks
- 52:43like hell, he is skinning bones and the whole like there's a corpse like
- 52:52quality to him, and he just yells out meat. And when we go
- 53:01to the next episode, they are feeding him like crazy, and he is
- 53:07taking several times his body size in steak at a time and just put like
- 53:15just fucking hosing it down. And eventually there's this weird sequence where he like
- 53:22pushes the nutrients of the food that is in his like he's swollen in the
- 53:27center with real skinny arms and legs, but then he like pushes that into
- 53:31his arms and legs in a very literal sense and manages to become healthy looking
- 53:38again. But he isn't actually back to normal, and they keep trying to
- 53:45tell him, you're going to have to take more time to heal, and
- 53:50he's like, I just don't have it. But when he tries to get
- 53:52up and walk, it's obviously an effort for him. Meanwhile, Bonclay has
- 54:00collapsed himself, and I've explains he basically sacrificed his own health in order to
- 54:09be able to cheer you on, and your recovery was so miraculous that I
- 54:15have to assume what he was doing did help. And again Lufy is just
- 54:20so touched and he's like, look when he heads out later, he says,
- 54:23I hate to ask you to do this, but can you keep an
- 54:29eye on him while I go do what I need to do. And I
- 54:34love how much Lufy respects Bonclay and how like, just this is some real
- 54:38shit, you know, And he pulls out the viaver card. It's a
- 54:45tiny scrap. At this point, I assume now you want to go and
- 54:51rescue your brother, regardless of what advice we might give you. It's your
- 54:54life, after all, and you can do whatever you want with it.
- 55:00And Lufy says, are you going to make an escape too? Because the
- 55:04point of coming down here was that Bohem was going to try and rescue you.
- 55:08And is just like, oh, really, that's really nice, that's
- 55:15charming. But no, it's a sweet gesture. But I don't need to
- 55:22be saved. I'm cool down here. It's not my time to break out,
- 55:27not quite yet. I know what's going on in the world right now.
- 55:32There's been a shift in tide and big changes are coming. The Navy
- 55:37and the white Beard Pirates are taking center stage. Even so, the big
- 55:42Man's still waiting things out. I'm of course, referring to my comrade,
- 55:45the leader of all revolutionaries in the world. And this is when he mentions
- 55:53you may know him as Dragon, and Lufy says, oh, yeah,
- 55:55my dad. And I was thinking there was gonna be reaction, but instead
- 56:01I've just keeps going, Yes, that's the plan. When your dad makes
- 56:06a move with that army of his, and then I shall make a maneuver
- 56:08of my own. And all of a sudden it registers and he just ye
- 56:17knows, like, wait a second, did you say your dad, And
- 56:25Lou's like yeah, and he then puts it together. Wait, if Ace
- 56:31is your brother, then that's his dad too. Oh my god. I
- 56:37had no idea about any of this, And I love when he just goes
- 56:44flying into the wall and then collapses. Dragon doesn't have any children. That's
- 56:50crazy talk. And Lucy's like, hmm, maybe I shouldn't have said anything.
- 56:53No, I think it's probably fine, but yeah. When he says
- 57:00where did you come from, Lufy says the east Blue, and we get
- 57:04a flashback of I have a talking to Dragon and being like, every time
- 57:09you go on take breath of air, you seem to face in the same
- 57:12general direction. What's the deal? With that, it's clear like he's looking
- 57:15toward home, so he tells Lufy not to let anybody know Dragon is his
- 57:23father and movie, yeah, I just figured that out. I'm his dear
- 57:29friend and one of his trusted commanders, and that means I'm a revolutionary.
- 57:34That's the reason I was arrested. So it's my duty to help you,
- 57:37whether you like it or not. I can't just stand around and let my
- 57:39friend's son die before my eyes. Listen up, Tell everybody in the new
- 57:45Kamma Land. We're going to move fast and rescue Ace Boy before his execution,
- 57:50and then we'll break out of impeal down. Guys. I am so
- 57:55here for this. I am so here for the Queer Army getting together behind
- 58:01Loofy and fighting like hell wearing fishnet thigh highs to help him save his brother
- 58:07and then join the revolution against the government. Are you kidding me? Like?
- 58:14What is this like? Am I being punked? Like? This is
- 58:19so graz Oh my god, it's so wonderful. I am so here for
- 58:27it really really quick because I'm out of time here. But we touch base
- 58:32briefly with Mister three and Buggy, who they have managed to make it back
- 58:37to level four, I think. But they run into a transponder snail and
- 58:43they're having to like sort of work their way around it without being spotted by
- 58:46it. But they're still poison in the air because of fucking Magellan, so
- 58:52they're each trying desperately not to like sneeze, and their eyes are turning red.
- 58:57It's like a whole thing. Meanwhile, Hannibal like they're you know,
- 59:04discovering exactly how far things have gone with him being impersonated, and the transponder
- 59:12snail winds up dying because of the poison. So these two managed to find
- 59:16a way past it, but it's pretty it's a bad scene. Magellan meanwhile
- 59:22having some Tommy trubs and he is like going in for this ceremony where they
- 59:30collect ace and it's supposed to be a really big deal for their reputation that
- 59:36they are on time. So he has to be gotten out of his latrine
- 59:43even though he isn't quite ready to go, and Iva pumps Loofy up with
- 59:50some adrenaline in order to give him the strength he needs. He's like,
- 59:53it's going to catch up with you in a few days, so before warned,
- 59:57but hopefully by then it won't matter and you'll be able to rest.
- 1:00:01And I love fighting the wolves and everything like and in a Zuma is the
- 1:00:10one with that's like got the part of colored hair and the wine glass.
- 1:00:15And they open up the doorways and it's just like, well, who's who's
- 1:00:21gonna come at us? And Iva just says, well, who cares?
- 1:00:24Just let him come, and all of the security guys like lock in and
- 1:00:30realize, oh my god, that's iv A who has been missing for years.
- 1:00:36And there's the straw hat kid that we thought got eaten by wolves.
- 1:00:39And it ends with uh loofy yelling hold on, Ace, I'm coming for
- 1:00:45you, and the the you know moment where they go to gather Ace and
- 1:00:55put him in cuffs and bring him out, Bring him out, bring him
- 1:00:59out. So that is the end of the episode. This is a really
- 1:01:05fun one. You guys really really enjoying this. All Right, I have
- 1:01:08got to go. I'm over time. But thank you again so much for
- 1:01:12hanging out with me. Thank you Florian, thank you Michael for commissioning this.
- 1:01:15And until next time to the Loom motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled Network podcast
