- 0:47Philip Pape: Today we are unpacking a hard truth that every excuse is really just a solvable problem.
- 1:03Philip Pape: Let's start with the classic I don't have time.
- 1:07Philip Pape: Time is a finite resource, right?
- 1:09Philip Pape: But here's the thing it's less about having time and more about making the time, prioritizing your time, finding the time that you have and Allocating it to the things that you want to do that you know are in your best interest for the long term.
- 1:26Philip Pape: If you can binge watch a Streaming series and we've all done it then you can carve out time for a 30 minute, 45 minute workout.
- 1:34Philip Pape: It's about shifting perspective, not reshuffling hours.
- 1:38Philip Pape: And then we have the excuse that I can't stick to my diet, I can't be consistent.
- 1:43Philip Pape: It isn't the diet itself, it's the approach, which actually may be the diet, but rigid plant meals are what set us up for failure.
- 1:52Philip Pape: And the solution here, the solvable problem here, is the lack of rigidity.
- 1:57Philip Pape: And what's the solution?
- 1:58Philip Pape: Flexibility, incorporating foods you love, tracking your intake, knowing what you're eating, focusing on nutrient dense choices so that you can have more Flexibility.
- 2:06Philip Pape: And it's never about perfection, it's always about progress and consistency, and that's what's going to get you to ultimately succeed on your quote-unquote diet.
- 2:16Philip Pape: Another one I hear is that I'm just not motivated.
- 2:19Philip Pape: And Motivation is this fleeting thing.
- 2:22Philip Pape: It's like willpower.
- 2:23Philip Pape: Right Discipline routine.
- 2:25Philip Pape: I've talked about this before.
- 2:26Philip Pape: That is much more reliable doing the tiny habits, setting the small goals and Celebrating those wins, especially when you have Accountability, such as the wits and weights community or a coach or somebody who is in your corner.
- 2:41Philip Pape: Discipline is like a muscle, to use the gym analogy the more you work at, the more reps you put in, the stronger it gets in, the easier it is to use.
- 2:50Philip Pape: So every excuse you have can be flipped into a Solvable problem with the right mindset, the right strategy.
- 2:56Philip Pape: I know sometimes that you just have to know what to do, and it's not always easy to understand what that is.
- 3:01Philip Pape: So Reaching out for help, listening to podcasts like this and other evidence-based sources is going to go a long way toward that, so that you can take ownership of your choices and realize that you have way more control than you think.
- 3:15Philip Pape: Remember, it's not the mountains ahead of you to climb, that where you out, it's that pebble in your shoe.
- 3:24Philip Pape: So let's remove those pebbles, one excuse at a time.
- 3:27Philip Pape: Thank you for tuning in to another episode of wits and weights.
