- 0:03Speaker 1: we get letters, we get mail. I got several emails
- 0:06Speaker 1: here that we should just I think, well, yeah, some
- 0:10Speaker 1: of more than others, but yes, all right.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Then email the intros.
- 0:18Speaker 1: First of all, this one says, hello, lords, Can I
- 0:21Speaker 1: ask that you wish Ben from South Ogden a happy
- 0:24Speaker 1: birthday today July first? Thank you so much, Tammy Tammy,
- 0:28Speaker 1: Albert Tammy. No, we can't do that. We cannot turn
- 0:32Speaker 1: back time. We don't have a time machine. We can't
- 0:35Speaker 1: turn it back.
- 0:35Speaker 3: And I hope they had a happy I do too.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And then let's see this one. Good morning lords. I
- 0:42Speaker 1: moved to Savannah, Georgia a little over a year ago,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but I still listen every day. Thanks for all you do.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I've been a little surprised at how many of my
- 0:48Speaker 1: friends and family in Utah have no idea that Salt
- 0:52Speaker 1: Lake has a professional softball team, the Utah Talons, to
- 0:57Speaker 1: say nothing of the fact that they're leading their league.
- 1:00Speaker 2: They are really good.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It would be a great honor to hear more from
- 1:04Speaker 1: the players, and I guess I was hoping that you
- 1:06Speaker 1: all might be an avenue for that. Thanks for letting
- 1:09Speaker 1: me listen, Mike, and then he sent a link to
- 1:14Speaker 1: the Talons schedule and the sports desk. I will and
- 1:18Speaker 1: then then there is this one. So I said that
- 1:24Speaker 1: I needed verification of turkeys in rose Park wild there
- 1:29Speaker 1: are wild turkeys.
- 1:29Speaker 3: In the photographic evidence if.
- 1:32Speaker 1: The pictures are isn't real. And we got a picture
- 1:35Speaker 1: yesterday and it was from somebody who took the picture
- 1:39Speaker 1: from the window of their car and it was raining,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but you could you could sell it with there probably
- 1:43Speaker 1: wild turkey as well. I've got another one. I heard
- 1:46Speaker 1: you needed proof of the rose Park turkeys. So here
- 1:48Speaker 1: they are.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:50Speaker 1: My first encounter with a turkey in this neighborhood was
- 1:52Speaker 1: back in twenty twenty. During this account encounter there was
- 1:55Speaker 1: only one. Turns out, there were probably several turkeys, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: as the years go by, their numbers increase.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I enjoy them greatly.
- 2:01Speaker 3: They're huge.
- 2:02Speaker 1: The worst thing they do is stop traffic for a
- 2:05Speaker 1: couple of minutes when they're crossing the street. But that's
- 2:07Speaker 1: okay by me. Oh, there's even there's an even better picture, Dawson.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I didn't see that that one you put up.
- 2:14Speaker 3: There's two?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Did he put up the other way?
- 2:16Speaker 4: Oh?
- 2:16Speaker 1: I see Okay, yeah, great, that.
- 2:18Speaker 3: One very enormous man.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And they're mean, yeah, they oh, they'll chase you. I
- 2:26Speaker 1: I my one encounter with a turkey. He was very friendly,
- 2:31Speaker 1: a very pleasant friendly turkey. But I don't know, maybe
- 2:34Speaker 1: they're I would.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Suggest not getting close to the turkeys.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And then finally this, it's a picture of carry and
- 2:41Speaker 1: I carry and me, I should say, to be grammatically correct,
- 2:47Speaker 1: an old picture.
- 2:48Speaker 3: That's very old.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Somebody sent that and said, hey, whatever happened to Kaboom Days.
- 2:56Speaker 3: They don't do it anymore.
- 2:57Speaker 2: No, not.
- 2:58Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, we put the end. We
- 3:00Speaker 1: made the end of Kaboom Days. What it was, it
- 3:03Speaker 1: was in Elsinore, Utah. Elsin Or, Utah, which is out
- 3:11Speaker 1: there by Richfield and it's sort of nowhere, yeah kind
- 3:16Speaker 1: of maybe it's near the town of Monroe. And what
- 3:20Speaker 1: it was is the Volunteer Fire Department. I guess they
- 3:23Speaker 1: would do this as a fundraiser. Every year they would
- 3:26Speaker 1: do this thing called Kaboom Days where they would set
- 3:28Speaker 1: up some targets on the side of a mountain, you know,
- 3:33Speaker 1: and they they put little explosive charges behind the targets
- 3:38Speaker 1: so you could go up and shoot at the targets
- 3:40Speaker 1: and if you hit the target just right there would
- 3:43Speaker 1: be a small explosion. Yeah, kaboom kaboom days. And as
- 3:49Speaker 1: I recall, they had it, they tied it to some
- 3:51Speaker 1: Danish ancestry tradition or something, which was probably all bs.
- 3:57Speaker 1: And so we thought that was interesting, and we got
- 4:00Speaker 1: in contact with the Volunteer Fire Department and they said, well,
- 4:03Speaker 1: come on out, you can come on out and shoot
- 4:04Speaker 1: some guns. So it was a road pri We stayed
- 4:06Speaker 1: overnight two nights some I think in that area, and
- 4:10Speaker 1: we went to Kaboom Days and the Volunteer Fire department
- 4:13Speaker 1: guys that were really nice, and there was a nice
- 4:15Speaker 1: chief fire department chief, and we had we got rifles
- 4:20Speaker 1: and they let us shoot at these targets.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And did you blow stuff up?
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah a little bit. And I believe how long ago
- 4:27Speaker 2: this was.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I was having one of my children and that's why
- 4:31Speaker 4: I didn't go. So this has been at least nineteen
- 4:34Speaker 4: years since you did that. Maybe longer because if I
- 4:37Speaker 4: was pregnant with Jonesy, that would have been like twenty
- 4:40Speaker 4: one years.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So anyway, we did had a good time. We went
- 4:43Speaker 1: to some cafe somewhere, you know, a little town where
- 4:51Speaker 1: a guy came in who invented the frisbee. Oh yes,
- 4:54Speaker 1: remember that. And it was cafe owned by a rodeo
- 4:58Speaker 1: star's parents. Remember that. I can't remember the name of it.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Somebody will remember better than I am.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I said, this was like twenty years ago.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, And but this guy came in, he and he's
- 5:10Speaker 1: and he was the guy who invented the frisbee. And
- 5:13Speaker 1: it was I mean, really it really was.
- 5:14Speaker 3: The guy who names Walter Morrison Morrison.
- 5:17Speaker 2: That's the way they named the disc golf course that
- 5:20Speaker 2: I play after him.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And I believe he's a relative or direct descendant of
- 5:26Speaker 1: John Waynes because John was in John Wayne's real name
- 5:29Speaker 1: Marion Morrison. And I think he's a relative of John Wayne's.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And he invented the frisbee for the for the Whamo Corporation. Uh.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And he he died in twenty ten.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And what he lived in that little town I think
- 5:44Speaker 1: in Monroe, Monroe, Yeah, the little town of Monroe. And
- 5:48Speaker 1: so anyway, kaboom days. We we actually didn't put an
- 5:52Speaker 1: end to it. It was like a two or three
- 5:55Speaker 1: day event. Yeah, and I think it was the next day,
- 5:58Speaker 1: it was after we left. Yeah, it was that because
- 5:59Speaker 1: we didn't see this happen. They were shooting the targets
- 6:03Speaker 1: and they started a fire on the mountain and it
- 6:07Speaker 1: got kind of out of hand, and fortunately the volunteer
- 6:10Speaker 1: fire department was the one who was doing it, but
- 6:12Speaker 1: it was kind of embarrassing that the volunteer fire department
- 6:15Speaker 1: had started a fire on the mountain. And so that
- 6:18Speaker 1: was it was the end of That was the end
- 6:21Speaker 1: of Kaboom Days. So there is that story.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I was looking up the restaurants in Monroe.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I think it was in the restaurant was in moment.
- 6:29Speaker 3: That's where he was from. There's Bullies Drive.
- 6:32Speaker 4: In Marianna's Country Cafe might be it Ace's Place.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Restaurant Marianna And it might have changed names by this
- 6:43Speaker 1: time because it was it was somehow associated with a
- 6:49Speaker 1: famous rodeo cowboy from that area who I think he
- 6:54Speaker 1: was from Monroe. And he's probably still around and there
- 6:59Speaker 1: are people who will now let us know what we
- 7:02Speaker 1: have forgotten. But that yeah, so there it is. That's memory,
- 7:08Speaker 1: that's Kaboom Days. Richard Davidson said that where So I
- 7:14Speaker 1: wonder where Richard Davison got this picture. Maybe maybe it
- 7:17Speaker 1: was something weird posted well, it looked like a still
- 7:20Speaker 1: from a news report, because there's a news Oh yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think you're right.
- 7:26Speaker 2: So some news channel must have been covering Kaboom days
- 7:29Speaker 2: and they were interviewing us.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, well let's see that. You can you you
- 7:32Speaker 1: almost can read to see. There's the microphone with the
- 7:35Speaker 1: I forget what they call those, that's got the station
- 7:37Speaker 1: logo on it. Yeah. I can't quite make out what
- 7:40Speaker 1: that is.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I missed that red final shirt.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I was going to say, you used to wear that
- 7:45Speaker 3: all the time.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I love that one. You should get another one. I
- 7:48Speaker 2: wore it out. I do have another one, but it's
- 7:49Speaker 2: not the same.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And Bill doesn't have a beard.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Nope.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Carry that hat is one of the old X ninety six.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Hats basses ball style.
- 7:59Speaker 1: We look like a couple of hicks.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I was trying. I was trying to fit it. I
- 8:03Speaker 2: was trying to fit it.
- 8:03Speaker 3: You look cute.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Why I wore the red flannel in the base's ball hat.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm wearing a I'm wearing a chambray work shirt.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I used to favor those. I used to like those
- 8:11Speaker 1: a lot.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Email Oh interest, all right,
