- 0:00Speaker 1: All Star Toyota presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:04Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Plays get broken down and science gets denied. Off the
- 0:11Speaker 1: Bench Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Raising Kine Studio.
- 0:51Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in o t b our number two.
- 1:03Speaker 2: LS.
- 1:03Speaker 3: You made some coaching moves yesterday bringing in some new
- 1:07Speaker 3: staff members. You can find all the information, of course,
- 1:11Speaker 3: on our website, Louisiana Sports dot Net, which you see
- 1:15Speaker 3: let him do the band of white del ooh right
- 1:17Speaker 3: there behind our heads if you can see that behind
- 1:21Speaker 3: Matt's ed. All right, I'm gonna throw it to Tata
- 1:23Speaker 3: to give you an update on the staff moves that
- 1:25Speaker 3: ELS you made.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Yeah, despite the fact that I'm a big Brad Davis fan,
- 1:30Speaker 4: LSU could potentially have a new offensive line coach. Well,
- 1:35Speaker 4: we'll see where he is, but Eric Wolford has joined
- 1:37Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin's staff. Eric Wolford has worked exclusively on the
- 1:40Speaker 4: offensive line since nineteen ninety seven, and he's been in
- 1:43Speaker 4: the SEC for nine years now. He was the O
- 1:46Speaker 4: line coach for Kentucky the past two seasons. Before that,
- 1:50Speaker 4: he was Saban's O line coach. Obama his last two years.
- 1:53Speaker 4: He was in South Carolina from seventeen to twenty. I mean,
- 1:56Speaker 4: this guy's been around the offensive line, he's been around
- 1:59Speaker 4: the SEC. He's a guy that I mean that that's
- 2:03Speaker 4: somebody that can help you immediately.
- 2:05Speaker 5: He has a ton of experience.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Also, Dwike Wilson, he's been brought on as a director
- 2:11Speaker 4: of recruiting. He served this role under Lane Kiffin at
- 2:14Speaker 4: Ole Miss. He comes over as well, so that's, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 4: shadows staff analyst if you will, not an on field
- 2:21Speaker 4: coaching position, but director of recruiting. But Eric Wolford will
- 2:23Speaker 4: see what happens with him. But big time name, a
- 2:26Speaker 4: lot of experience, a lot of SEC experience as well.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and Ole Miss and Lane Kiffen played against Kentucky
- 2:32Speaker 3: right over the last couple of years when he was there,
- 2:34Speaker 3: so certainly they've got an up close look at what
- 2:38Speaker 3: he can do with the offensive line. And that is
- 2:42Speaker 3: one thing that has to be fixed. You got to
- 2:46Speaker 3: get fixed on the offensive line this upcoming season. It
- 2:51Speaker 3: was held together with duc tape and super glue, and
- 2:54Speaker 3: that might be putting it nicely. I mean I can
- 2:57Speaker 3: remember doing the start lineups on the broadcast and mean
- 3:00Speaker 3: you're talking back and forth.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm like, well, I guess they'll move.
- 3:03Speaker 3: This guy here, they'll move that guy there, and maybe
- 3:05Speaker 3: that guy can hold together.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It was bad. It was bad.
- 3:09Speaker 3: I think there's talent there, but you got to get
- 3:12Speaker 3: the most out of that talent. You got to develop
- 3:13Speaker 3: some real NFL offensive lineman. I know you just lost
- 3:17Speaker 3: a crew that had four guys drafted. It's the obvious
- 3:19Speaker 3: statement there. I understand that. But if you want to compete,
- 3:23Speaker 3: you're in and you're out in the SEC. That next wave,
- 3:27Speaker 3: whatever it is, it has to look completely different than
- 3:29Speaker 3: what that next wave just look like for LSU, Matt.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You have to run the football in the Southeastern Conference.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You cannot win the SEC by trying to throw the football.
- 3:40Speaker 3: You can't go twenty straight plays in a game against
- 3:43Speaker 3: Western Kentucky, who's one hundred and eighth in rush defense,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and not hand it off to the running back one time,
- 3:49Speaker 3: like those things can't happen. That is the position group
- 3:52Speaker 3: that I cannot wait to watch in spring football in
- 3:56Speaker 3: summer camp because it needs to go up by a lot.
- 4:01Speaker 6: The key thing you said there when you were talking
- 4:05Speaker 6: about the current offensive line is I think that there's
- 4:08Speaker 6: talent there. When you go through an entire season and
- 4:11Speaker 6: you don't know, means there's a bad scheme. Yeah, so
- 4:14Speaker 6: there was bad. What they were being asked to do
- 4:18Speaker 6: was not right because we went that there is talent,
- 4:24Speaker 6: but we don't know, which is a problem. I'm sure
- 4:27Speaker 6: there's guys. I'm sure there's teams all over the country
- 4:30Speaker 6: that did a lot more with a lot less than
- 4:32Speaker 6: what with the LSU Fighting Tigers did with their offensive line.
- 4:36Speaker 6: And it is an absolute just travesty of what this
- 4:40Speaker 6: offense was this year. So yeah, I think that you
- 4:45Speaker 6: bring in a new system, you bring in new uh coaching,
- 4:50Speaker 6: you bring in you bring in different stuff to the
- 4:53Speaker 6: same guys, but then you have to supplement too. I
- 4:56Speaker 6: think if you're LSU team and you're an LU coach
- 5:00Speaker 6: and you're hitting the transfer portal and you look for
- 5:02Speaker 6: offensive lineman and you say, hey, where I issue. This
- 5:05Speaker 6: is the three initials on our on our chest here,
- 5:08Speaker 6: this is our logo, and this is what we're going
- 5:10Speaker 6: to do. This is coming up here and you can
- 5:14Speaker 6: come in and play immediately. That you could come in
- 5:16Speaker 6: right now and be our starting you know, whatever left
- 5:19Speaker 6: eg or left guard center, whatever it is. And I
- 5:21Speaker 6: think there's a really good selling point there in the
- 5:23Speaker 6: transfer portal for this coaching staff. Of course you want
- 5:27Speaker 6: to I think we signed an offensive lineman yesterday. You
- 5:28Speaker 6: want to get guys out of high school too, But
- 5:30Speaker 6: you don't want to be reliant on a true freshman
- 5:33Speaker 6: offensive lineman if you don't have to be right. So
- 5:36Speaker 6: that's uh, yeah, it's to put it lightly that they
- 5:42Speaker 6: were putting in an unfair spot, and so like that's
- 5:46Speaker 6: what you want to like at the end of the season.
- 5:47Speaker 6: You want to have answers on all your guys, at
- 5:50Speaker 6: least an idea of what the answer is.
- 5:52Speaker 2: What you said was perfect.
- 5:54Speaker 6: I think they are talented, but we don't know because
- 5:57Speaker 6: what they were being asked to do not beneficial to
- 6:02Speaker 6: who they could be or what they could be, or
- 6:04Speaker 6: you answering the question of like what are they You
- 6:08Speaker 6: don't run power one time all year. You don't run
- 6:12Speaker 6: a normal running game until you tried something halfway past
- 6:19Speaker 6: halfway through the season.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yeah, when.
- 6:23Speaker 6: When Brian Kelly got fired. Yeah, they came out and
- 6:25Speaker 6: they tried to do some things. They lined up with
- 6:26Speaker 6: the full back. They but you're like, if you hadn't
- 6:28Speaker 6: practiced that stuff. You can't just going to throw it
- 6:29Speaker 6: in in the midweek. Like the foundation. We've said it
- 6:33Speaker 6: a billion times, like the foundation and the bones of
- 6:35Speaker 6: this offense are just just flawed.
- 6:38Speaker 2: So we don't know what the offensive line was.
- 6:40Speaker 6: But like, look at the whole offense, it's hard to
- 6:43Speaker 6: find any bright spots on you look at Harlem Perry,
- 6:45Speaker 6: there's some good things there, trade as he did some
- 6:47Speaker 6: great things, and but like.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Caden Duram finished the season strong, yeah he did.
- 6:51Speaker 6: Like you can pick out the individual performances and games
- 6:54Speaker 6: and things that were great, but like from the beginning
- 6:56Speaker 6: to the end, what were the bright spots on the offense?
- 6:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:01Speaker 6: I know there's talent there. I think there's talent in
- 7:04Speaker 6: other places, but you don't know.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Uh, taking a look because Matt mentioned it quickly there
- 7:10Speaker 3: And if you've listened to this show at all any
- 7:13Speaker 3: period during the football season, we probably said it once
- 7:15Speaker 3: a show. LSU football didn't run a single power all
- 7:18Speaker 3: season long. Ye can't believe that the joke that we
- 7:21Speaker 3: always use, you couldn't go a series when we played
- 7:24Speaker 3: without running at least one power. Okay, times have changed, offensively,
- 7:28Speaker 3: you're not going to run as many. Let me give
- 7:30Speaker 3: you a breakdown of what Old Miss ran a year ago.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Before you do that.
- 7:35Speaker 6: I just want to say that any if like you're
- 7:37Speaker 6: in like the Catholic school system and your child plays
- 7:40Speaker 6: in fifth grade, he runs Power.
- 7:44Speaker 2: One.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Child, Yeah, they run zone. They probably run power maybe
- 7:47Speaker 3: stretched just without question. Yeah, the sunset acres Indians. Back
- 7:52Speaker 3: in nineteen eighty nine, we ran powers.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Yeah, yep, through the ball three times a game, ran
- 7:59Speaker 6: Power three. Maybe that's explosive back then, no doubt, well done,
- 8:04Speaker 6: that dropped tighten dump.
- 8:06Speaker 3: What did Ole Miss look like running the football this year? Well,
- 8:09Speaker 3: they had four hundred and sixty four run plays outside
- 8:13Speaker 3: zone nine percent of the time, inside zone thirty one
- 8:16Speaker 3: percent of the time, a man's scheme, maybe probably some
- 8:19Speaker 3: duo twenty five percent of the time. Power thirteen percent
- 8:23Speaker 3: of the time. They ran sixty one of those counter
- 8:27Speaker 3: twelve percent of the time. They ran sixteen draws. They
- 8:30Speaker 3: ran twenty one pool leads. They ran two which are
- 8:34Speaker 3: classified as trick plays. So, as you can tell, there's
- 8:38Speaker 3: diversity in this run game.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Right, that sounds like a normal running game. It clu
- 8:46Speaker 6: That sounds like a fit.
- 8:47Speaker 2: It can be done. It has happened before.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Diversity in a run game, so the defense can't hone
- 8:53Speaker 3: in on what you're doing. The highest percentage year thirty
- 8:56Speaker 3: one percent being inside zone.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I love it.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I love that there's not a sixty eight percent something.
- 9:02Speaker 3: There's diversity. The best run games in the country. Like
- 9:06Speaker 3: last year when Camp Scattaboy was going off, we looked
- 9:08Speaker 3: at it had diversity in the run game. They ran everything.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Jeremiah Love at Notre Dame tearing it up right now,
- 9:15Speaker 3: diversity in the run game, even like a mod hardy
- 9:20Speaker 3: who like they run outside zone a ton, but there's
- 9:24Speaker 3: still diversity in the run game.
- 9:27Speaker 6: And when we talk about these really great teams running
- 9:30Speaker 6: the ball, and I'm not even saying great, just these
- 9:33Speaker 6: teams that are have good offenses, productive offenses, and the
- 9:36Speaker 6: diversity in their running game. We're not saying that because
- 9:40Speaker 6: they're the outlier, right, because that's football, Like you run
- 9:44Speaker 6: different plays. You don't run the same pass play over
- 9:47Speaker 6: and over. You're ls she kind of do, but you
- 9:50Speaker 6: don't usually run pass like so we're like LSU's the outlier.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Here is what we're trying to explain to y'all. Like
- 9:57Speaker 6: the Old miss and the the Notre Dames and these
- 10:00Speaker 6: all these elite teams running the ball. Like Jake's going
- 10:02Speaker 6: through all these stats, there's diversity, and he's like like
- 10:05Speaker 6: praising that diversity, which is great, but like it's it's normal.
- 10:10Speaker 6: That's true, it's normal, Like that's the normal thing to do.
- 10:14Speaker 6: The minority in the room has been LSU, who has
- 10:17Speaker 6: not been diverse.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I did double check just to make sure that
- 10:21Speaker 3: over the last two games, I didn't miss anything. L
- 10:23Speaker 3: s U powers zero. No, you didn't miss it, but
- 10:26Speaker 3: did not miss it. Not a power.
- 10:28Speaker 6: We did it that one game where we did pull
- 10:30Speaker 6: a guard a couple of times on the counter.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, they were encounter. I think we've talked about it
- 10:34Speaker 2: so much.
- 10:35Speaker 6: We need to have it, Like we need you to
- 10:38Speaker 6: just break down just the power, just the basic power.
- 10:41Speaker 2: We'll pull it up.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I will do that today. Yeah, well today, how far
- 10:45Speaker 3: does this PFF video go back? Does it go back
- 10:47Speaker 3: to two thousand and seven?
- 10:48Speaker 6: We'll just bring out like a basic x's and a's drawing.
- 10:53Speaker 3: But I wanted to I want to share like a
- 10:54Speaker 3: visual too, Okay, just full of any LSU film from
- 10:58Speaker 3: two thousand and five, to two thousand sixteen.
- 11:01Speaker 2: You'll find one quick, very quick. Anyway.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I wish we could show the difference between counter and
- 11:08Speaker 3: power for sure.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, love that all right, but we'll have fun. It's funny.
- 11:14Speaker 3: It can't be Tiger film because they didn't run one,
- 11:17Speaker 3: so that would be pretty difficult. We do have, of course,
- 11:21Speaker 3: chef Michael Johnson joining us at nine. We've got Matt McMahon,
- 11:27Speaker 3: LSU head basketball coach at nine thirty. Big win for
- 11:30Speaker 3: LSU basketball last night. They dominated in the first half,
- 11:33Speaker 3: but then in the second half they went cold. Boston
- 11:36Speaker 3: College got hot, but they did a nice job of
- 11:38Speaker 3: forcing overtime, and then in overtime they dominate once again
- 11:42Speaker 3: and they improve to eight to no on the season.
- 11:44Speaker 3: So excited to have coach and McMahon on for the
- 11:46Speaker 3: first time this season. More OTB when we come back
- 11:50Speaker 3: here live from the Raizy Kine studio.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Off the bench, all right, go to boo.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Joeselectrical dot com.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Go to that website and get that free genoeic quote
- 12:00Speaker 3: right there in the top right corner of the website.
- 12:02Speaker 3: You also check out the Boudreau boost that they've got
- 12:04Speaker 3: going on right now. You can claim that boost right
- 12:06Speaker 3: there on the website. Boudros is always more power, it's
- 12:09Speaker 3: more protection. On the north shore it is nine to
- 12:12Speaker 3: eighty five three nine seven two. In the Greater Batanuge
- 12:15Speaker 3: area it is two to five three zero zero ninety
- 12:17Speaker 3: three eight nine. Remember it is not too late to
- 12:21Speaker 3: install for the holidays. They have them ready to go.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Installations are going to be a quick process and they
- 12:27Speaker 3: can have you ready so you don't again embarrassed by
- 12:30Speaker 3: your father in law.
- 12:31Speaker 6: That's right, Give you your family the gift of just peace
- 12:34Speaker 6: of mind at your house. No matter what the weather is,
- 12:36Speaker 6: no matter what the what the wires are doing, the
- 12:39Speaker 6: power lines are doing out there, your house is going
- 12:41Speaker 6: to be protected. The lights are going to stay on.
- 12:42Speaker 6: So if you've got family in town for the holidays,
- 12:44Speaker 6: you don't want them to be You don't want to
- 12:46Speaker 6: be judged by your father in law the power goes
- 12:47Speaker 6: out and.
- 12:48Speaker 2: The party gets ruined.
- 12:49Speaker 6: Get that piece of mind with Boudrox Electrical and the
- 12:51Speaker 6: pull home GENERAC generator, Boudrox Electrical dot.
- 12:54Speaker 7: Com give up forever. No, that's your f.
- 13:13Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves. Gets off the
- 13:15Speaker 1: bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn and.
- 13:21Speaker 8: Hold a lock, staring out the window.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Into the deep nothing. Get your forehead rested on it.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Just keep playing it over and over again. What went wrong?
- 13:45Speaker 3: What more could I have done?
- 13:48Speaker 2: Is it me? Did I do this? It's gotta be
- 13:55Speaker 2: them right, can't be me? Did everything right? I'll kick ass?
- 14:01Speaker 2: I'm me there then, couldn't be me? So? But was it?
- 14:11Speaker 2: I don't know?
- 14:12Speaker 6: So just sent me a text. I want you all
- 14:19Speaker 6: to be careful out there today. It's rainy, it's cold.
- 14:24Speaker 6: Road conditions are not great. It rains too hard. Put
- 14:27Speaker 6: your hazards on. But we're talking about it's a perfect
- 14:34Speaker 6: day for breakups. So if you're in your late teens,
- 14:37Speaker 6: early twenties, you've been thinking about it, you know you
- 14:41Speaker 6: got to do it. It's not going anywhere. Don't do
- 14:44Speaker 6: it on a pretty day. Do it today. It's not
- 14:48Speaker 6: going anywhere. I'll open your throat right there, go get
- 14:57Speaker 6: it checked out about doctor. But if it's like a
- 15:00Speaker 6: metaphor blump in your throat, just go ahead and do
- 15:05Speaker 6: it today.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Today's day. So we're playing some breakup music for you.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and if you're listening to us in certain parts
- 15:12Speaker 3: of Mississippi and you feel like you're just never going
- 15:16Speaker 3: to get over the breakup. What chances are you probably aren't,
- 15:20Speaker 3: but you can at least listen to some Google dollars
- 15:23Speaker 3: while you're going through it.
- 15:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yep, I don't do it on a pretty day.
- 15:27Speaker 6: Make sure it's today. You know who I wish college
- 15:29Speaker 6: football break up with forever?
- 15:34Speaker 2: That list is long and distinguished, sir, Notre Dame.
- 15:37Speaker 6: The cowards themselves, Notre Dame with playoff committee. Do us
- 15:45Speaker 6: all a favor and fire Notre Dame. They stink, they're cowards.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Join a conference, you have bums? How about this committee
- 15:58Speaker 6: is probably going to be putting them over in the playoffs.
- 16:01Speaker 6: So over Miami, do y'all remember? Do you know that
- 16:04Speaker 6: this year, in this season, Notre Dame in Miami played football?
- 16:08Speaker 6: They did against each other?
- 16:09Speaker 9: Yeah, Tea Remimi who won Miami Miami?
- 16:14Speaker 6: That's right. It's really interesting that you say all those things.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Did you know that Notre Dame they played two like
- 16:22Speaker 6: pretty legit opponents this year? Just two there was a
- 16:25Speaker 6: long season, two legit opponents. Uh, do you all remember
- 16:30Speaker 6: the outcome of those games?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:31Speaker 6: They lost them both, They lost them both quality losses, thoughts.
- 16:36Speaker 5: It's the eye test, man, it's trust ue, bro.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Did you know that six of their wins this season
- 16:41Speaker 6: they didn't have you know, they lost two games, so
- 16:43Speaker 6: there's only so many. Six of their wins came against
- 16:47Speaker 6: opponents ranked one hundred and fifth to one hundred and
- 16:49Speaker 6: twenty seventh in the country.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Not bad, not bad.
- 16:54Speaker 6: But you know what I got those shiny helmets, their
- 16:58Speaker 6: Notre Dame. Their coach is handsome. Yes, so let's just
- 17:03Speaker 6: go ahead and put them in the playoffs. Your cowards,
- 17:05Speaker 6: your bombs.
- 17:08Speaker 3: But their losses were better than Miami's losses, even though
- 17:11Speaker 3: they wins weren't as good.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Oh my goodness, where did forget? Where did and then
- 17:19Speaker 6: they beat them? Where did they beat them in Notre
- 17:22Speaker 6: Dames at home? At their other place at there where
- 17:25Speaker 6: they should have had an advantage?
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:29Speaker 2: Weird.
- 17:31Speaker 6: Anyway, I hope y'all can all agree with me that
- 17:33Speaker 6: Notre Dame is probably the worst thing to happen to
- 17:34Speaker 6: college football.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Ever.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Yes, it shouldn't be rocket science, Like to your point,
- 17:40Speaker 4: all these people are like, okay, well the metrics say
- 17:42Speaker 4: this and this, like, no, you played head to head.
- 17:45Speaker 5: If you didn't play head to.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Head, didn't take all those other things into consideration, right,
- 17:48Speaker 4: but like all this oh well, strength of schedule or whatever. Look,
- 17:52Speaker 4: Jake was mentioned in like me calling high school football games. Okay,
- 17:56Speaker 4: I called Episcopal games. They finished five and five. At
- 17:59Speaker 4: one point in the season. I remember having this conversation.
- 18:01Speaker 4: They were one and four and I was talking to
- 18:04Speaker 4: the guy to do the broadcast with, and I said,
- 18:06Speaker 4: you know, they better pick it up or they're going
- 18:07Speaker 4: to make the playoffs. He goes, thirty in the playoffs. Bud, Yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 4: it's like they're one and four. He goes, yeah, but
- 18:11Speaker 4: power rankings, their strength to schedule. I'm like, se, you
- 18:14Speaker 4: could just schedule whoever you want. You don't even have
- 18:16Speaker 4: to win them. No, but as long as you have
- 18:18Speaker 4: good losses, it's like you're in.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I guess it's unbelievable.
- 18:21Speaker 6: And that's the thing like if if okay, so if
- 18:23Speaker 6: Miami had like an extra loss, but they don't, that's
- 18:27Speaker 6: the same record and they beat them.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Mmm. I hate you, notre Dame hate you.
- 18:37Speaker 6: I don't want to say. I don't say the word hate.
- 18:39Speaker 6: I don't loosely say that. I don't throw it around.
- 18:42Speaker 6: Tell my children not to throw that word around. But
- 18:45Speaker 6: you know what, if you just joined a conference, there's
- 18:48Speaker 6: a lot of things too like about you that are potentials.
- 18:50Speaker 6: You got a lot of potential until then you're dead
- 18:56Speaker 6: to me. And I hope that the cf the CFP
- 18:59Speaker 6: plays off committee. I hope that they break up with
- 19:04Speaker 6: you on this perfect day for a breakup.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Comte.
- 19:11Speaker 3: He committee like, you can't move the goalpost as much
- 19:15Speaker 3: as you think you can. Just keep acting like these
- 19:19Speaker 3: are the rules in place if they behoove us. But
- 19:22Speaker 3: if they don't, then we're just gonna act like we
- 19:24Speaker 3: didn't say that before. It is such a hot mess.
- 19:28Speaker 3: And it's like, well, we'll take head to head in consideration.
- 19:30Speaker 3: If they end up by each other, it's what So
- 19:34Speaker 3: if they are a part in the rankings, then we'll
- 19:37Speaker 3: act like head to head didn't happen. But if they
- 19:39Speaker 3: end up seven and eight, then we'll we'll use that
- 19:41Speaker 3: as a like what do can we please get somebody
- 19:47Speaker 3: else to do this? And I know there's former coaches
- 19:50Speaker 3: and there's.
- 19:50Speaker 2: A former like one former player.
- 19:53Speaker 3: These guys are like out of touch with it's to
- 19:56Speaker 3: say the least, without trying to be too harsh, they're
- 19:59Speaker 3: out of touch. Go look up the profile pictures of
- 20:03Speaker 3: all the people that are on this committee, it's not good.
- 20:08Speaker 3: And then you got a hunter year at check out
- 20:10Speaker 3: there trying to make six seven jokes. What are we doing?
- 20:14Speaker 3: This is the college football Playoff, my man. You haven't
- 20:19Speaker 3: made since yet, and you were in the middle of
- 20:22Speaker 3: a coaching search trying to be the voice of the
- 20:24Speaker 3: college football Playoff. You got bigger fish to fry, my guy,
- 20:28Speaker 3: go worry about that, Like why do we have to
- 20:31Speaker 3: have people that are attached to a school currently on
- 20:35Speaker 3: the committee?
- 20:36Speaker 2: This is too.
- 20:37Speaker 3: It's always like I argue NFL officials should have been
- 20:40Speaker 3: full time for a long time. They were like lawyers
- 20:43Speaker 3: in the off season, right, and.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Then they do that.
- 20:45Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 20:47Speaker 3: You hold so much in the balance by what you call, right,
- 20:51Speaker 3: not even the money portion of it, but just like
- 20:53Speaker 3: the game is on the line, Like I want you
- 20:55Speaker 3: full time in the off season. When you're not calling
- 20:58Speaker 3: games in the regular season, right, have some time off.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Go train to be an official, to be the best
- 21:03Speaker 2: you can.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Same thing in the COSGE Football Playoff committee, my guy,
- 21:06Speaker 3: you're trying to hire a head coach. Are you really
- 21:10Speaker 3: watching BYU this week? Are you watching Miami this week?
- 21:16Speaker 3: How much do you could you name three players on
- 21:18Speaker 3: North Texas roster right now?
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah? No, So it's like me having a vote. You
- 21:26Speaker 2: said it man, not me. I'd be better at it.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Go get somebody where.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Hey, sure, okay, Like you've got something going on in
- 21:35Speaker 3: your life, but you're not an acting athletic director that's
- 21:39Speaker 3: trying to hire a head coach right now. It's like
- 21:42Speaker 3: the job deserves more attention than it gets.
- 21:45Speaker 6: Why is college football? Just so I don't want to say, okay, well,
- 21:52Speaker 6: I'll say why is college football so dumb?
- 21:54Speaker 2: Like?
- 21:55Speaker 6: Why is like there's so many things that so many
- 21:57Speaker 6: people see about common sense Like we talked, we just
- 22:00Speaker 6: everybody's been yelling at yelling at the clouds about the
- 22:03Speaker 6: schedule and coaches having to make decisions. Okay, it makes sense,
- 22:06Speaker 6: Like I get it. There's no easy fix, there's nothing
- 22:08Speaker 6: easy about it. But you got to fix something. And
- 22:11Speaker 6: then this class, like this isn't a beauty pageant, right
- 22:14Speaker 6: there shouldn't be five people voting on the winner based
- 22:16Speaker 6: on no like real scoreability, Like there's you got these
- 22:24Speaker 6: What other sport in the world that has a playoff system?
- 22:27Speaker 6: Is there arguments about who should be in the playoff.
- 22:29Speaker 6: There's a metric you should have to hit. You gotta
- 22:31Speaker 6: win this, you gotta win that, you gotta do this,
- 22:33Speaker 6: blah blah blah, and.
- 22:34Speaker 2: You're in the playoff.
- 22:36Speaker 6: If you don't do that, you're not in the playoff.
- 22:38Speaker 6: There shouldn't be coaches having to go lobby for their
- 22:41Speaker 6: team to get into the playoffs because no one's going
- 22:44Speaker 6: to win that argument. There shouldn't be an argument. There's
- 22:51Speaker 6: so many things about college football that needs to be fixed.
- 22:53Speaker 6: And like I've you know, I love watching the NFL, right,
- 22:58Speaker 6: I love watching both. But I think there's a lot
- 23:01Speaker 6: of people out there, like nationally that this this isn't
- 23:06Speaker 6: going to hit with anybody in Louisiana because it's they
- 23:07Speaker 6: would never matter to Louisiana people.
- 23:09Speaker 2: But I think around the country.
- 23:10Speaker 6: I think, like I think college football like loses some
- 23:12Speaker 6: people because of stupid things that they do.
- 23:15Speaker 3: You and I have both lived in places where professional
- 23:17Speaker 3: football was bigger.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Like not even close.
- 23:20Speaker 6: I would I would say a majority of the countries
- 23:23Speaker 6: like that outside the Southeast, Yeah, yeah for sure. Do
- 23:30Speaker 6: you think people in state of Washington they care about
- 23:35Speaker 6: the Huskies over the Seahawks.
- 23:37Speaker 2: And.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody in never cared about Colorado, Colorado state.
- 23:45Speaker 2: People, people in Massachusetts.
- 23:47Speaker 9: Four team playoff, let's do it that way. Everybody everyone gets.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Oh gosh, but there when there was a system in place,
- 23:58Speaker 6: like there wasn't a great system, but like the BC system,
- 24:00Speaker 6: like it, I don't know if it really ever made
- 24:01Speaker 6: a mistake.
- 24:02Speaker 2: It just wasn't. She don't had two teams. You just
- 24:04Speaker 2: had two teams.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Yeah, if you open up to twelve, I'd much rather
- 24:07Speaker 3: go off that right than have some sort of metric,
- 24:09Speaker 3: some committee that's just throwing stuff against the wall to
- 24:12Speaker 3: try to see what sticks. Because to Matt's point, in
- 24:16Speaker 3: the NFL, you have a system and how you make
- 24:18Speaker 3: the playoffs, win your division or you get a wildcard. Well,
- 24:22Speaker 3: in college football, everything's so different. Like Texas played a
- 24:26Speaker 3: completely different schedule than Virginia. Virginia played a completely different
- 24:29Speaker 3: schedule than Michigan. Michigan played a completely different schedule than
- 24:32Speaker 3: Texas Tech. It'sant Apple's orange.
- 24:35Speaker 9: It like it's yeah, I mean you talked about it
- 24:39Speaker 9: last year all the time. Like baseball has RPI, basketball
- 24:43Speaker 9: has POM and that yesh and net rankings and I
- 24:47Speaker 9: just don't really get why college football kind of got
- 24:51Speaker 9: away from that, like maybe have the conference. The people
- 24:55Speaker 9: that win in the conference they get the automatic bit
- 24:57Speaker 9: or whatever.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, which is fine, But why don't you.
- 24:59Speaker 9: Do that for like for the rest of the people
- 25:01Speaker 9: that you can't really figure out, Why don't you use
- 25:04Speaker 9: the system for that?
- 25:05Speaker 10: Like I don't.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Every other sport in college athletics has something they use.
- 25:11Speaker 3: They have analytics, they have metrics, computer rankings.
- 25:14Speaker 2: That they use.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Jake, we have the eye test.
- 25:18Speaker 3: We have the eye test from somebody that white dudes
- 25:21Speaker 3: couldn't pop a pimple in high school football back.
- 25:24Speaker 4: In the day on the original college.
- 25:34Speaker 2: In the game for thirty years.
- 25:36Speaker 4: You can rich twelve team BCS playoff, is what I
- 25:39Speaker 4: heard from Jacob Pester, And I like that.
- 25:41Speaker 6: I mean that's I would love thats was never wrong.
- 25:44Speaker 6: I don't believe you only had two teams.
- 25:47Speaker 4: The complaint was, it's the only sport college or professional
- 25:50Speaker 4: that doesn't have a playoff.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Okay, isn't there isn't there a website that actually still
- 25:54Speaker 6: runs the business system?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Where does it have Notre Dame?
- 25:58Speaker 5: No, they're not in the top ten.
- 26:00Speaker 3: No shot, we'll find that out. Let's take a break
- 26:03Speaker 3: and when we come back, We'll tell you where Notre
- 26:05Speaker 3: Dame would be in the BCS.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Maybe they are at the top eoy.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I don't know, but I wonder if they would be
- 26:10Speaker 3: ahead of Miami, who again on a football field this year?
- 26:14Speaker 3: Back one the head to head contest between the Hurricanes
- 26:18Speaker 3: and the fighting Irish. All right, we'll take a break
- 26:20Speaker 3: more OTB when we come back. Your live from the
- 26:22Speaker 3: Raisin Kine studio, top the bench. All right, go to
- 26:26Speaker 3: trash rangers dot com if you want to sign up

- 27:05Speaker 6: They're portable restaurants or portable toilets. So if you got
- 27:08Speaker 6: like a festival, have you got a construction site, anything
- 27:10Speaker 6: with like a big group, if you want to call them,
- 27:12Speaker 6: have that portable toilet delivered right there. They are number
- 27:15Speaker 6: one at picking up number two. I tell you that
- 27:17Speaker 6: every single day, and I love that catch line. It
- 27:18Speaker 6: makes me laugh. Likes to chuckle every single time you
- 27:21Speaker 6: give me a call, whether it's trash, whether it's waste, whatever,
- 27:24Speaker 6: it's trash, rangers dot.
- 27:25Speaker 7: Com, doll pay it.
- 27:27Speaker 9: Don't pay the doll.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Let it come doll pav do dump from a locker
- 27:34Speaker 1: room to the airwaves. Gets off the bench with Jacob
- 27:37Speaker 1: Hester and Matt Flynn with.
- 27:41Speaker 7: No good gues.
- 27:43Speaker 8: Details don't matter.
- 27:44Speaker 2: We both pad the press season nice.
- 27:48Speaker 7: You know sometimes it'd be like that. We big no
- 27:54Speaker 7: other times up down.
- 28:01Speaker 2: One on one of you, but we bigger than anything.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Remember all right, welcome back here. It is O TB
- 28:19Speaker 3: here live from the Raisin Kanes studio. Always remember it
- 28:24Speaker 3: is a great time to go for dose. It doesn't
- 28:26Speaker 3: matter what the situation, it is going to be the
- 28:29Speaker 3: correct time. But I do say peak time is the
- 28:33Speaker 3: holiday season, so make sure you grab an ice cold
- 28:36Speaker 3: do skis or two or six or whatever you're in
- 28:39Speaker 3: for that night. It is always a great time to
- 28:42Speaker 3: go for Dose. An incredible website that Matt absolutely loves
- 28:45Speaker 3: dot it is. It is bookmarked on his computer. Do
- 28:49Speaker 3: sekis dot com. Have your ID ready? Go for dose?
- 28:54Speaker 2: Did you look out?
- 28:54Speaker 6: I got the BCS ranking? Okay, I think this is
- 28:57Speaker 6: per On three.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you want to go twelve to one,
- 29:04Speaker 2: one to twelve, let's go. We'll just go one to twelve.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 29:06Speaker 6: I'm trying to pull up the side by side here
- 29:10Speaker 6: with the current Okay, so number one of course Ohio state,
- 29:14Speaker 6: which matches number two Indiana. We got to even match here,
- 29:18Speaker 6: three Georgia, four Oregon. So that's a little bit different
- 29:23Speaker 6: because I think the current rankings have Texas Tech at four,
- 29:26Speaker 6: five oh Miss Okay six, Texas Tech, YEP seven, Texas
- 29:32Speaker 6: A and M eight, Oklahoma, Sooners nine, Notre Dame, Notre
- 29:41Speaker 6: Dame ten, Alabama, Crimson Tide, Alabamas and Alabama eleven, b
- 29:46Speaker 6: y U twelve, Vanderbilt at oh thirteen, thirteen thirteen, Miami fourteen,
- 29:53Speaker 6: Texas fifteen Utah.
- 29:54Speaker 2: And so the VCS would save us.
- 29:56Speaker 6: Let's see we have Okay, so the highest interesting two
- 30:01Speaker 6: lanes twenty one, James Madison twenty yep, North Texas nineteen.
- 30:07Speaker 3: I think, yeah, the winner of the Americans going because
- 30:09Speaker 3: it's gonna be a quality, quality victory for them. They're
- 30:12Speaker 3: gonna you know, JMU they don't have that same opportunity.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yep.
- 30:15Speaker 6: So, but North Texas and JMU are probably the biggest
- 30:18Speaker 6: I'm seeing the biggest discrepancies between the current college Football
- 30:22Speaker 6: Playoff rankings and what the BCS would have had him
- 30:24Speaker 6: about five spots. So North Texas would be your highest,
- 30:28Speaker 6: Vandy would be right there.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Leave it to Vandy to be like the one time
- 30:35Speaker 3: that a ten and two SEC teams and not going
- 30:37Speaker 3: to get into the playoff unless something happens Alabama WYU.
- 30:41Speaker 2: They both lose.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Fandy probably gets in some way somehow.
- 30:44Speaker 9: But if I still don't Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 2: How do y'all feel about that?
- 30:52Speaker 6: I don't like the fact that people do get penalized
- 30:55Speaker 6: for conference championships games.
- 30:57Speaker 5: So you made it, if you made it, you shouldn't get.
- 30:59Speaker 6: If you made make the conference championship in the SEC,
- 31:03Speaker 6: you should be in.
- 31:06Speaker 3: I mean that long ago in the four team playoff
- 31:08Speaker 3: where Georgia didn't have a loss until that game and
- 31:11Speaker 3: they got left at home and they took it out
- 31:13Speaker 3: on Florida State.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Because if they want to look at, oh, we're taking
- 31:16Speaker 4: the top three SEC teams, Okay, well, if you made
- 31:18Speaker 4: it to the SEC championship, you wanted the top two.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not.
- 31:22Speaker 5: And then they're like, oh, well it's no, it's the
- 31:23Speaker 5: highest ranked.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, but you're you said you wanted the
- 31:27Speaker 4: three best.
- 31:29Speaker 5: How were they not one of the three best.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yep.
- 31:31Speaker 6: That's garbage that a team like Notre Dame doesn't have
- 31:34Speaker 6: to play in a conference championship because if they did
- 31:37Speaker 6: play any conference championship, they would lose. And then another
- 31:41Speaker 6: team that makes it who didn't take the cowards rout
- 31:44Speaker 6: loses a conference championship and gets penalized for it. That
- 31:48Speaker 6: is stupid. That's another common sense thing. So in my opinion,
- 31:56Speaker 6: the college football playoffs should be set right now.
- 32:00Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Okay, and conference maybe the people,
- 32:03Speaker 2: maybe not the seedings.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I know this is never going to happen because of
- 32:07Speaker 3: the dollars in the sense of Conference championship weekend, and
- 32:10Speaker 3: it's another opportunity right in Atlanta, there's going to be
- 32:14Speaker 3: a pack stadium for Georgia and Alabama. And used to
- 32:17Speaker 3: like I would say, there's no way we can get
- 32:20Speaker 3: rid of that game. Winning an SEC championship. To me,
- 32:23Speaker 3: outside of the Natty, it was the biggest thing we
- 32:25Speaker 3: did in college. It's massive. We're about to watch one
- 32:29Speaker 3: versus two and it's not going to mean a damn
- 32:31Speaker 3: thing though in the Big Ten championship. Think about that,
- 32:34Speaker 3: one versus two is playing and no matter what happens,
- 32:40Speaker 3: both teams are in the Coage Football playoff.
- 32:42Speaker 2: It doesn't matter what happens.
- 32:44Speaker 3: So the game means something certainly to those teams and
- 32:47Speaker 3: trying to win, you know, a conference championship, which you
- 32:49Speaker 3: should be prideful in that. But on the outside, it's
- 32:52Speaker 3: like one versus two is playing in the conference championship
- 32:55Speaker 3: weekend and it doesn't really matter. Seating is the only
- 32:59Speaker 3: thing it matters for I think both teams in a
- 33:02Speaker 3: close game, both teams still get a bye.
- 33:04Speaker 2: By the way you think. So the.
- 33:07Speaker 6: Worst case scenario, you're hosting a playoff game, right that's
- 33:13Speaker 6: the worst case.
- 33:13Speaker 2: The worst case you get blown out and that still happens.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Mm hm hm screw you, Notre Dame.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Do we believe Alabama is going to be in win
- 33:32Speaker 3: or lose? Do we believe it? I know you said
- 33:34Speaker 3: they should be. Are they going to be.
- 33:36Speaker 10: No season too?
- 33:39Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:40Speaker 4: I mean the three three three losses SEC teams all missed.
- 33:43Speaker 3: If you have yeah, if you have three losses and
- 33:48Speaker 3: I know you played an extra game, but Vanderbilt has
- 33:49Speaker 3: two losses and you can say Alabama has the head
- 33:52Speaker 3: to head. They do, but you can't say it for
- 33:54Speaker 3: that and not say it for Notre Dame. Miami committee.
- 33:57Speaker 3: If you're going to use it, you got to use it,
- 34:00Speaker 3: and if you don't, you got to leave it at home.
- 34:05Speaker 2: They don't have to use anyth I'm saying.
- 34:06Speaker 3: But if that for Alabama, if they lose, if they
- 34:08Speaker 3: use it for Alabama to get in over Vandy, but
- 34:10Speaker 3: you don't use it for Miami to getting over Notre Dame,
- 34:12Speaker 3: then you either got to or you got.
- 34:14Speaker 2: To leave it at home. They don't use anything. They
- 34:18Speaker 2: use bad jokes.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Trust me, they don't have vibes there. I hear you,
- 34:23Speaker 3: I hear you. They don't have vibe Well, they got
- 34:25Speaker 3: bad vibes. I guess you're right, not great vibes. They
- 34:28Speaker 3: got car brother vibes.
- 34:29Speaker 6: Can you imagine like if a couple of those members
- 34:31Speaker 6: had a bad day, like their kids are mad at him,
- 34:34Speaker 6: life gets upset something like that, they come in there, I'll.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Pissed off in a bad mood, super nippicky.
- 34:41Speaker 6: They take it out on somebody like that can happen
- 34:44Speaker 6: when you leave it up to humans voting instead of
- 34:47Speaker 6: their system in place where you know, you just make
- 34:50Speaker 6: the playoffs or you don't.
- 34:52Speaker 5: The good news is.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Though they're not biased, they do leave their hats at
- 34:55Speaker 4: the doors, so that isn't good.
- 34:56Speaker 6: True, they have to be unbiased. Yeah, but you you
- 35:01Speaker 6: can't check their underwear though.
- 35:02Speaker 10: True, you don't know if they're well, you know.
- 35:04Speaker 2: What the socks, Yeah, Notre Dame gold underwear. It's a

- 44:15Speaker 6: and don't wait for a pretty day.
- 44:17Speaker 3: But that's the problem. I think that's what people do.
- 44:19Speaker 3: They're like, don't wait, do it before Christmas. Like just
