That's right, everybody. Our friend Brett is in the house today. How you doing I'm doing great. How about yourself? Pretty good. Brett appears courtesy of the Village Handyman. So Brett, thanks for coming by today. Why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself. Thanks for having me. So Herbie messaged me on social media and said, we'd like to have you on. I got a chance to listen to the podcast. First of all, I don't really listen to podcasts much. But after I saw Herbie had one with yourself, I was like, OK, I love Herbie. I love you, Brett. He's funny as shit. He's been funny all the way back to high school. Is that where you guys first met? speaker-1: Actually, I think the summer of graduating eighth. That's right. Katrina's birthday party. Yeah. And I was like going to Aussie and he was going to Aussies and that's when like we actually sat together for lunch and stuff like that. So it was just. First, Brett. speaker-0: Yeah, I forgot about that. forgot we... We had a lot of the same classes and we had we would always make fun of our one teacher, Miss Page, because she'd give us so many fucking days. Ditto's for days, dog. ⁓ yeah. So, yeah, we knew. But Herbie always had charisma and listening to this podcast, the way you guys interact with each other. I'm like, that's still that fucking dude I went to high school with. It's awesome. speaker-1: Yeah Don't get it twisted because Brett is very funny too. So like you guys will you'll get a touch of his stuff. speaker-0: I don't know if I could touch your ass. You're funny as shit, dude. speaker-1: Actually, tell us a little bit more about your jobs, your ⁓ courageous endeavors of your businesses, your recent new marriage. Congratulations. speaker-0: Congratulations, buddy. So, yeah, I'm I'll start with that. I went through a really, really ugly, messy, expensive two and a half long year divorce. I won't get too into that, but I met Victoria. She worked in the plaza of the the bar that's in my shop's plaza. And I always thought she was super pretty, but never really thought I would have a Shot with her. So we both happen to be single at the same time. And I remember I saw a picture of her. She posted at a wedding and she looked really pretty and I DMed her just for shits and giggles. And I said, hey, you're going to need to hold on to that dress because one day when my divorce is final, I'm going to take out the dinner. It's only going be weird for all the ugly chicks in the room. And she went, ⁓ well, let's go have drinks. And I went, what the fuck? Well, that works. ⁓ That's great. And we've been going out ever since. speaker-1: Like seriously think how we're not the video because you are good-looking dude. You got good hair. You're tall you musculate You got the sexy tattoos and all that shit. So yeah, you're be able to pull a hot speaker-0: Well, that's just all you listeners out there. Don't ever be afraid to take your shot. Yeah, shoot that shot, man. Yeah, shoot it, man. You never know what's going to happen. But so, yeah, I have two tattoo shops, ⁓ Tatooine Body Art. I opened eight years ago in Browns Mills. That shop's been really, really great to me, ⁓ Do a lot of really fun stuff for charity there. ⁓ A year and a half ago, I opened Tatooine Body Art in Wrightstown and that has been a work in progress. But I'll tell you right now, it's definitely we're starting to, you people know we're there now. We worked the air show last year. I think we made there was a half a million people at that air show. And I think we made contact with probably five thousand. You know, stenciled kids. didn't we didn't tattoo there. We just literally put stencils on kids and handed out cards and kissed babies and really tried to speaker-1: Thanks. speaker-0: make ourself part of the military community over there. It's fucking awesome. Like they've accepted us, so that's good. speaker-1: Have you got a good heart though? Brett's always been that guy with a great heart. So he's always he's he's like a selfless type guy and he's also disciplined. He's he's he's like I was saying before earlier that he's definitely a leader, not a follower. So like you just, yeah, you do. You seriously, man. That's why a lot of times I even I haven't seen you for like a long time, but I still keep in contact and ship it. Just just seeing you do all the things you overcome stuff and you just keep fucking pushing, man. It just makes me proud of you, Brett, because thank you. Great job, speaker-0: I'm the same. mean, I love this kind of stuff. When you asked me to do I was flattered because I'm you know, it's like nobody wants to like poetically talk about themselves. You know what mean? But it's it's it's nice that you said, yeah, come on, check this thing out. Oh, yeah, absolutely. good. It's like actually like I listened to a couple of episodes. I'm like, this is fucking great. speaker-1: That's why you're gonna like matter of fact you're gonna do one too man. So let people know what you gotta do speaker-0: So, yeah, coming off, I feel like the timing is right to do something like this. You know, I've wanted to do it for a long time. And me and my good buddy, Mike, is my producer, Mike Christine. He's really good with the engineer side of things and has done a lot of our videos, tons of photography for both of my shops. ⁓ He goes and photographs. bodybuilders and things at competitions. He's really good with this side of it. And, you know, we've talked about it for a long time. He actually put my book out. ⁓ I did all the pages and things and he put it together and he put the fucking thing out that's still available on Amazon. So I'm like, well, I Hold on. What is the name of the book? The Art of Having Fun. I just got my last royalty check. Somebody just bought a book. got my thirty seven cents. So it's pretty nice. Pretty. speaker-1: That's dope though, man. You got royalties, man. I really picked a really good one, man, because this is like, he's interesting. There's a lot of people out there will like, gratefully want to be on the show and stuff like that. But sometimes you got to, need a story to tell and Brett, definitely got a story. speaker-0: I got stories. I got stories on top of Yeah, great. But so Mike put the book out and he ⁓ he I just ordered I don't know. feel like 20 copies for the shop to sign and sell. And he's like he did all that for me. So he's he's like, when are we going to do it? We're going to do it. And we started fucking around with the idea of it. And then I really I started to obsess about it. Like it's just probably even a little bit before you asked me to do this tonight. I was like, I kept thinking and thinking. I'm like, is how how bright is the timing for this? mean, we have the I am a thing coming out eventually. I can piggyback off that and pick up a few hundred followers, maybe off that. And, you know, basically, that's going to be a documentary about tattooers. If you want to continue the story, you can go to the podcast and just listen and I can. Because, know, in that format, you only have a certain amount of time. There's 10 artists on it. They're telling this story for 10 people for 110 minutes. You only get this much time. I'm doing little a pinchy. So, you know, I felt like it's a good time. And I talked to my wife about it. was like, you you mind if I do this thing? speaker-1: You're right. speaker-0: And she's like, you know, how much time are you going to be away from us? Because I am busy. Yeah. And I was like, ⁓ listen, I plan on doing maybe an hour, maybe an hour and a half a week. That's it. One show a week. And she was like, no, fuck, let's do it. And I was like, well, you're you're going to be on a bitch. Yeah. Because it's funny as shit. speaker-1: Trust me, as soon as you say you got a podcast, like everybody and their brother wants to be on it, which is, yeah, work is like, you got to try to like figure out who's good, like how the, you can get everyone in there. Cause like, if you get up the way we even for us, we have like a big, huge list of people that want to come on, but we still, we to figure out like, you know, stories and we know what they got to say. So was like a lot of stuff. So was like, some people could be on the waiting list for like. months because, we just we're basically doing like one a week. Yep. And like, you're going be able to do like, you know, 20 people every week. It's like there's exactly. You know what mean? speaker-0: Yeah. I've been compiling a list of people for mine too. again, not trying to plug a podcast on a podcast. ⁓ That's why you're here, dude. Okay, I don't have, you know, I don't want to offend, you know, or anything like that, but it's, have, ⁓ there's an artist, Inklain, he's ⁓ in South Africa and I've known him for a while. I've never talked to him actually in person. So he wants to come on. He's like, ⁓ So do you need me to fly out for this thing? I'm like, fuck no, But just the fact that you asked, it's pretty goddamn amazing that you'll be willing to do that. But no. But also, I want to chat with him on the phone a little bit or before, because like, what if he's fucking stiff? speaker-1: He brings malaria from South Africa. Like the Mumbumbo fucking zombie plague and shit. Next you know, Brett's goddamn zombie and Herbie, yours truly got to put him down with a ninja sword. speaker-0: Listen, I can think of a lot of fucking worse ways to go than her stabbing me with a ninja sword. speaker-1: I would give you an honorable death. speaker-0: I did the same thing when I was talking to him about starting this. I was just like, here's a list of people that I want to talk to. And he was kind of like, well, I can get a couple of you were on that list. I'm flattered. We just to talk to, like he said, people with an interesting story or, know, like a unique skill set or a job or so. And we appreciate you coming on. Oh, yeah, I'm I'm I'm. speaker-1: deaf. Yeah, dudes. speaker-0: Like happy to be here, dude. This is like fun stuff. Well, let's talk about the podcast. What? Booze and Tattoos podcast. Yeah, it's going to be it's going to be called Booze and Tattoos. Two things I hold dear to my heart. Yes, sir. We're going to open every show with me pulling out a bottle of booze and pouring it and chit chatting with everybody. it's so funny because the second I started talking about it. like so many tattoo buddies and people were coming out of the woodwork. You know, I'm in. I fucking need to do this. And there's three or four of them right off top. I'm like, fuck, I want you on every week. You know, it's like without getting into too much. My buddy, Jared Stomber, is the one of the funniest fucking people I know. And I do shows with this guy and we sit down Thursday till Sunday and. We laugh. I don't think we stop laughing until we leave that show and everybody that comes in to get tattooed. So I co-own a tattoo tour called Inc. Selsier Tattoo Crew. Jared's my partner. So we have 25 artists worldwide, a couple of them in the UK, ones in Belfast. And we do these kind of geeky conventions. We don't do tattoo conventions. We only get together and we do comic cons and things like that. speaker-1: That's where I ran into him, me doing my geek shit. There's Brett doing like statues and shit. speaker-0: It's great though, because like we're the only ones there. We don't have to fist fight with 80 million tattooers. It's only us. You got to come to our table to get tattooed, which is great. It's actually smart. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. I actually learned how to do it from my buddy Chris 51, who used to own a tour called the Geeks Drink Legends Tour. And that got sold a couple of times. And I wasn't a huge fan of the person who bought it. So I said, fuck this, I'm going start my own. I know all the promoters. All the promoters love me and love the people that come with us. So I'm to start booking these fucking things. And me and Jared just double team the shit out of everybody and made it work. And now it's like grown into something that is really sick. We're going to June. We're going to Texas ⁓ to San Antonio for SpaceCon. ⁓ Anakin Skywalker is going to be there. ⁓ we but we actually bought tickets and I never do this. I never buy to meet a celebrity ever. But John Cena is going to be there. I had to do it. Going to get a picture of him. That's been the running joke. So my goal is I'm going to walk up to him and say, listen, can we recreate the ⁓ orgy scene in season two? If he says no, I'm probably going do it anyway. ⁓ I'm not small. I'm just going to bend John Cena over and just get a picture. speaker-1: Yeah, come on. Well, I mean, you're not You're like, just take it, man. speaker-0: You have to do this. What are you going to do? Say no? Yeah. You're going to say it's going to be a little rapey, but it's going to be OK. speaker-1: It's not completely. speaker-0: Kind of. Not actually gonna pull it out. It's gonna be fun. When he sends you that picture, you have to send it to speaker-1: Yeah, that's gonna happen. Most likely it's gonna be on Facebook and Instagram and everything else for the world to see. ⁓ speaker-0: ⁓ somebody bent over John Cena. A man attempted to rape John Cena today. speaker-1: It might be just Brent look like he's taking like he's getting ready to mount and it's like he's like there's nothing there cuz you can't see him. Yeah speaker-0: That's funny in itself. We could just all do a circle jerk with nobody in the middle. There you go. No, we did it. We succeeded. speaker-1: Just like kind of like maybe have like the hat just dangling like this. Like he's invisible or something. speaker-0: We're get somebody with a string. Yeah, just like, yeah. Texas is gonna be a fucking mess, dude. It's gonna be Get the sneakers and then put some jorts on top it. speaker-1: I'm gonna be like, what's he doing there? Take it to the max, bro. speaker-0: I've had a really good success rate with talking people into some dumb shit though. So good. And every time I run into celebrities and stuff, seem to be receptive. I don't get nervous at all. Just blurt out whatever. speaker-1: It's like, it's gonna sound a little weird. But I'm gonna take a picture of me mountaineers. speaker-0: So it's either gonna be that or we're all gonna be on our knees in front of you. Yeah, okay one or the other We're definitely gonna need a follow-up I'll let you know how it Guarantee he won't have too many offers like that weekend least not from a bunch of fucking tattoo speaker-1: Either going to be like a circus ceiling for you like. You have a bunch of people that he's only gonna have so many security people. So you can have the rest of you guys just run, run, ⁓ run a screen and you just take it to the Hill. speaker-0: Exactly. The promoters never gonna have us back. They really wanted us at this show. And I told my buddy Sean, Sean Crossan is one of our artists in our group and he was running point. He's going through some family stuff. He says, will you take care of this one for me? I'm like, yeah, I book all the other shows and we'll do this one. And I started talking to the guy and I'm like. God, this guy's gonna hate me because I ask for so many favors whenever I do these things. This is gonna be a big one. Hey, can you run us through the line because our stuff is waiting. We have to get back to our booth and I always do this. Just run us through, let us get our picture and we'll go back. I always feel bad cutting a line, but we have to get back to work. When I get in there, I'm gonna rape John Cena. Bro, you didn't tell me you were gonna do that. Yeah. I mean, would you have said yes? speaker-1: It was a quick, grapey type of thing. It quick though. I made a promise. I had to go back to work. I couldn't finish. I had to go back. speaker-0: best 23 seconds of his life. I'm telling you right now. Exactly. speaker-1: best magical Well, actually, like who else have like famous people you taking tattoos of? I know like, know, sons of anarchy and all that stuff seven does. So elaborate. speaker-0: Yeah. I've I've at this point, I forget how many guys we've had, like so many guys in our tour group have tattooed or been tattooed by celebrities like my buddy, like not even me, my buddy Dan. Danielle Harris is like one of the scream queens from like all the Halloween movies and stuff. Yeah. She's with all these things. And my buddy Dan Patrick is a fucking maniac. He he'll be in the middle of the tattoo. But yo, Danielle, fuck over here and tattoo me. And damn if she didn't walk the fuck over and say, you know, how do I do it? He goes, ⁓ my God. Yeah, got that bitch. And it was so funny. The next day she came over and she was like, just show me what to do. And she tattooed him. Damn. And that was just a spur of the moment. I'm like, I thought I had like the way with all to go do that shit. But you just take it to another fucking level. speaker-1: You The assertive Jedi mind trick. speaker-0: Yeah, he got the dude from Game of Thrones to fucking tattoo him in London. Like he just doesn't care. He just he'll ask anybody anything. But I remember with Sons of you mentioned Sons of Anarchy. That was the the first show I ever second show I ever worked with the Geeks during tour. And I remember I was very starstruck. It was first of all, the tattooers that I was working with. mean, this is Chris 51 and Josh Bodwell and Kevin Beckvlar. Brandon Summers, these are all guys from the show Epic Inc. And I used to watch this. Chris asked me to join this fucking thing. And I'm like, dude, I mean, my hair stands up talking about this because it was something that was like so unexpected. And I'm like, I'm watching these guys on TV and I'm like, they're so fucking cool. And now I am actually working at their booth with them. And Chris would be like, you know, the only rule we have is don't fucking be a fangirl. And I was like, ⁓ my God. speaker-1: hehe speaker-0: I'm the biggest fucking fan. I'm the worst at this. I got good at it. But the first couple times I was like, no, dude, I'm here to party. Let's fucking go. So we go to this restaurant. It was Ralph's in Philly and it was the hotel and I was tattooing Morgan Rose from Seven Dust. And he was filming a show with us. And I had another guy from another band, Tommy Michaels was from the band Revolve. And I just invited all my buddies. So Morgan's like, yeah, fuck I'll come. So we're all at this at this restaurant and a bus pulls up with the sons of anarchy guys. It's like the Evil Dead show that was on HBO, all those guys and the cast of Boondocks. So we're literally. in this rest in this bar and I'm already kind of hammered. had probably six old fashions and I'm like I walk in and the only person I really wanted to meet was Tommy Flanagan. I was like if I if I just meet him I'll be super stoked. Yeah. So we're sitting there and he walks in and I was I walked up I shook his hand I said dude great to meet you. I forget how it came up but he goes you tattooing here? I was like yeah he goes I'm gonna come tomorrow. I was like what? Like you're gonna you're gonna get tattooed he goes I'm gonna come I'm gonna get to as my best Scottish accent I can do yeah, but he's not very good But he's like yeah, I'm gonna come and Throughout the course of the night. We just drank and drank and that that dude can drink a lot and Fucking sure enough the next day that motherfucker came to my booth with his publicist or as a handler or whatever and I tattooed him and I was like I wasn't freaking out at the time because if I have a tattoo machine in my hand, I'm speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: Cool as a cucumber. When he left, bro, my hands were shaking. I was like, can't fucking believe I just had to top flat again. I was riding a hide for like a month. speaker-1: Yeah, even when I saw the pictures and stuff like that, was just like, holy s***. speaker-0: So it's so cool. Oh, you know, you got worse. There's a picture somewhere on my social media of Tommy Flanagan and me hugging and behind us is Norman Reedus giving us both the. The maniac, was like, but like me and him became pretty good. Like we would text back and forth all the time for weeks. I tattooed a sister. I'd see him in every show on that tour and. We kind of drifted apart, but he was such a fucking genuinely nice guy. He always said to me, he goes, man. speaker-1: I'm great. speaker-0: Never above, never below, always in the middle. Like super chill guy. Yeah, that's awesome. So when you do booze and tattoos, how does it work? Like ⁓ how do you pick a bottle or does a guest bring a bottle or or is just bourbon? Is it tequila or is it anything? I don't really discriminate a whole lot, but I plan on ⁓ it's going to be my stock pretty much for everything. And I'll talk I'll talk booze. I talk boost all the time. love it. ⁓ The crazy thing is a lot of the tattooers that I'm going to have on are all sober. So I'm to have to navigate that. Yeah. It's a little tricky. But so when we go do these shows all together, some of the guys like to drink. A lot of them are starting to get sober. And I'm sitting there with Vic and I'm pounding and I make sure my weekend is packed with partying. So I have not grown up at all. I mean, don't ever. If you're not having a good time, then what the hell are here for? It's not the Stuler way. I have to go hard, man. So like, I'm going to be respectful. listen, a lot of it, we're probably going to talk, you know, their journey and why they got sober. And maybe down the road, it might be something I could say, you know what? It's time for me to slow down a little bit. Now is not the time. I just I enjoy life. speaker-1: Good, don't. speaker-0: I enjoy drinking and I'm passionate about drinking. I also like trying different things. So like I'm that guy who can drink 10 old fashions a night. Not a night, but I can drink 10 old fashions and be completely fine. And people joke about it with me all the time. They're like, I think it's just your size. You're fucking big. I'm like, no, it's a fucking stooler thing, dude. My grandpa, I watched my grandfather do it for years. Just sip on it all night and chill, you know? So, yeah, I think. Initially, it'll be. Jameson will be the first show. 100 % spoiler alert. I love rye whiskey. I love bourbons. I recently acquired a. ⁓ Actual sealed bottle of Louis the 13th. Really? Anybody knows what the fuck that is? It's a very expensive. I do. And it's expensive. Yeah. So I got the green. box, which is not quite as expensive as the red box. But nonetheless, I never in a million years thought I'd acquire a fucking bottle of Louie ever. I've never had one. I've had it before. This one's still sealed. And everybody keeps telling me for what I got it for. I should crack the fucking thing. And who knows if booze and tattoos becomes the Joe Rogan experience someday. I'll crack that motherfucker and buy a red one. Yeah. Something like that's got to be for a celebratory thing. Absolutely. An epic thing. speaker-1: Yeah. My kid graduated. No, no. You got to blow up the death story. Yeah. Yeah. Then then you crack that bitch open. speaker-0: It's insane. You should open it and have it with your dad. I'm like, dude, I guess I I agree. But my dad would appreciate a bottle of Jack Daniel's as much as this bottle of Louie. And this bottle of Louie is fucking five grand. Yeah. I mean, cracked. Yeah. You know, so. I when I was in Georgia, when I first got down there in 96 I bought like just a fifth of Jack and threw it somewhere in my barracks room. All these deployments that I came home, got out. We came as a law enforcement state. Totally forgot about it's been sitting in a storage shed. So when I retired, I found it and I was like, holy shit. And this is how old it was. Jack, think now is like 85 proof. This shit was like 110 from the old stuff. And somebody was like, dude, I'll give you like fifteen hundred dollars for that bottle right now. And I was like, dude. It goes up in value like that. Yeah. Wow. So when I the night I retired, man, we passed up some bits off because I wasn't drinking it just to drink it. Yeah. I didn't realize that. And I was like, holy moly. But yeah, some some shit, man. You just have to wait. And that bottle he's got, you got to wait. Yeah, it's got a tag on it, too. I can't remember exactly what it says, but it's like this was served at the inaugural ball for the speaker-1: Yeah, you gotta wait for it. speaker-0: King and Queen of England. ⁓ wow. Or something like that. So the tag is still on there. The tax stamp is still on there. And I thought about selling it several times. I don't need to sell it. I'm in a good position. I a new house. I just don't. I'd rather sell something else. Let's be picture coming in handy, but. ⁓ yeah. Not getting rid of that anytime soon. speaker-1: I yeah. I think the only like booze I would probably be memorable is like if I can find a bottle of the old purple passion and stuff like that, man, that's got. It was like that big. ⁓ I'm. speaker-0: I'm sure they got it now Holly. Remember that it was like that wild Irish Thunderbird. speaker-1: through. Yeah, looked like a big bottle. Her purple soda man looked like a big bottle of grapes. It literally was like a plastic bottle was just like. ⁓ speaker-0: Do you drink? Okay. Make sure so remember purple passion. I don't remember Cisco and shit. I must have been in the hope this was in the hobo section of the bottom shelf like a dollar 50 for a bottle. speaker-1: Yeah, Brett, I drink. The Louis bottle for all of my homeless people man like the purple passion. Oh my god You know what street cred I would get if I had fucking knocked over a fucking thing of purple passion My own gang, be cool man Yeah, I share with the fucking guy from the that always hangs out by the trash can of wah-wah Every every wah-wah there's always that one dude that hangs out by the trash can of wah-wah speaker-0: I should be able to start. Purple passion. One guy. Which one? The one in Brownsville's? I'm not allowed to fucking say anything about the guy in Browns Roads because everybody's like, oh, you're fucking making fun of this guy. He's making that fucking off, dude. Go fuck yourself. speaker-1: don't remember like sages though, man. They actually have some good advice. speaker-0: Those guys probably have like the cure to cancer and world hunger and they're just hanging out wait for somebody to ask about nobody fucks with them speaker-1: They're already surviving like a winter in time and all that shit anyway, that's probably gonna be like cockroaches goddamn Creek Angels Fucking scoby ducks and the dudes are hanging up by trash cans of wild baby Viggo Mortensen speaker-0: That's it. they're All drinking purple passion. I had a guy recently. This was this might have been last week, the one in the the Wawa and Browns Mills was an older guy. Yeah, look like a very normal human being. know, he was dressed nice, looked like he was getting ready to go to like his construction job or something. And he was hanging out on his tailgate. And I'm like running late for work. So I come out with my coffee and I got all my shit. I'm usually like a fucking mess when I come out of Wawa. And the guy goes, excuse me, can I ask you a question? So I walked back across the street. I'm like, yeah, what's up? Typically people are asking tattoo questions, especially in Brown's Mells. So I was like, what's up? And he goes, if you died today, you think you would go to heaven? And I went. I was so fucking annoyed. Yeah. And I was like, probably not. And he goes, why is that? I'm like, can I can I fucking be 100 percent honest with you? And he goes, I'm ready for it. I said, I'm not really thinking about that right now, because I just left while on I'm trying to go to fuck to work. Yeah. And the guy goes, I respect that. I'm sorry for bothering you. I said, no problem. Little little fucking weird. He's like. speaker-1: want to enjoy my goddamn breakfast sandwich with the fucking hash brown. That's it. speaker-0: I was trying, I really wanted to be nice to him because it didn't seem like a mean guy, but I was fucking annoyed. I'm like, that's a that's a fucking heavy. No, I'm not going to heaven. Do you want me tell you about my theory on aliens? That they created us? Is that how deep you want to get now pal? On the back of your pickup truck in front of you while I'm drinking my coffee? I could go into some crazy theories. speaker-1: Dude, how great would that be? Like at the end of time is like Jesus just sitting there on the back of the truck. like, yes, I should have told you. Should I answer the fucking question? You just would answer the question. You could have been hanging out with the Backstreet Boys in heaven. I mean, I saw like in that movie, I mean, they made it to heaven. Yeah. The end till the end. speaker-0: Are they going to have it? What the fuck movie was that? ⁓ yeah, in the end. speaker-1: Yeah, you didn't see her see that. ⁓ my God. ⁓ you got to see it. speaker-0: ⁓ I've seen pieces of it. ⁓ my God, when talking about he's jerking off like a fucking pauper. speaker-1: You're gonna ruin everything! speaker-0: Dude, that shit was hilarious. a fucking iPad in every wall and you're in there jerking off like a fucking pauper. It's like jerking off at a time machine. Oh my God, that movie is so funny. speaker-1: You should! It's like it's a great movie. I will actually some people that are actually trying to do questions about like ⁓ what's the what's the proper etiquette for people for customers to get tattoos like what would it what should they do? speaker-0: Um, so it's everybody's really different. mean, like I try to make sure our shop is as comfortable as possible. We try to make people feel welcome. I mean, like I was telling you, our shops, both shops are nerds. Yeah. When I was growing up, I'm sure when all of us were growing up, tattoo shops were kind of scary, seedy. You didn't just walk into a tattoo shop without having like. Well, also, like when we were kids, like early, like late 70s. early eighties and stuff, it was more sailors, bikers, that kind of stuff. So it was very intimidating. Yeah. But it took off like during the eighties with my crew and all those guys. Everybody started getting tattoos and stuff. So now we walk. Yeah. When you walk into a tattoo shop now, like you said, most of the time, they're like, hey, how you doing? And they walk into the process and everything. So but yeah, the picture you showed me, that that shit looks real comfortable. It's it's dope. It's you try to make it so. ⁓ So I got my business plan for for Tatooine was when I would go to seven dust shows and I would, know, my Morgan Rose from the drummer from that band is one of my good friends. And I used to see how they handled their VIPs and they would treat every single person with so much respect. And they would like, like everybody, would spend time with each person genuinely. It felt real. Either they're really good actors or they're very genuine people. And I like to believe that they're all genuine people. So when I, I've told him this many times, I'm like, dude, when I opened my tattoo shop, I said, I'm going to treat everybody that comes in that door, like they're coming to a seven SBIP. And I roll the red carpet out for everybody. until they are disrespectful, but they're going to get the benefit of the doubt every time. And that's what we do. And we treat everybody because the job is very fucking simple. All I have to do is give them a great tattoo. That's what we're we're told to do. If they come in and they're also getting a great tattoo experience and they feel comfortable and they're laughing because it always happens, they're going to come back. And that's exactly what we do. all their people. Yep. And they're put it on Facebook and push your brand and you don't have to do a thing. Exactly. them what they want. ⁓ Yep. So what is the one question that I was talking to a lady friend of mine today and she's interested in getting a tattoo. It would be a first one. ⁓ Not that she's too afraid of needles, but what do you tell people that are kind of that want a tattoo and are afraid of needles? Like, is there something you guys say or? Don't do it. It's terrible. It sucks. It's painful. Now, I'll be honest. I really hate getting tattooed. I've been tattooed three times and I'm getting tattooed tomorrow in the past three weeks. And I fucking hate every second of it. But ⁓ for first timers, I always tell them eat before you come. ⁓ Gatorade or something sweet. Keep your sugar levels up. ⁓ And, you know, just try to go in there and not try to try not to be too nervous. I mean, we try to help with that. Like we try to like, you know, break down some, you break them down a little bit and have some fun with them. This way it's because I feel like a lot of it is anxiety. And once you man, sometimes I've had it happen several times where that needle touches that person and they're like, ⁓ they're snoring. It's like, fuck. You break out the glucose tabs and you're trying to revive them. I only had one kid that was like, really. speaker-1: Fuck. speaker-0: I thought I was going to call the ambulance. was like really in bad shape. So it happens really fucking rare. And then after they snooze for a second, smack them a little bit, throw the cold compress on the back of their they're fine and they're ready to finish tattoo. So if it's her first one, I, know, definitely go get a Batman. Don't get something dumb. You know, get Batman. She's more of the butterfly on the ankle kind of shit. Tell her to get Batman. speaker-1: Lego Batman get that. Yeah, Lego Batman. speaker-0: Fuck a butterfly. Fuck a butterfly. it's. Butterfly. How about Batman killing a butterfly? There you go. I'll run the. And I'll do it. I'll do it personally. I love that. speaker-1: Yeah, maybe Lego batting kiln up You or some shit. I don't know. Yeah. Just here's your fucking pet. speaker-0: that's a butterfly that man about Batman bending over a butterfly. looks like John Cena. It can be fucking amazing best fucking tattoo idea we just came up with it right here. speaker-1: It's actually the amount because like a lot of times he does he's he's like a big nerd too So he loves comic books and stuff like that. So a lot of people that actually come in they have like comic book, you know themed like tattoos and stuff and I was like thinking maybe one day like that one girl from Brown's Mills might come in be like let me have like the fucking powerpuff girls having a threesome with the doctor speaker-0: So oddly enough, we just had, I just ⁓ had a client who, I did a full sleeve on him and the dude is awesome. His ⁓ name's Evan, I'm sure he won't care if I fucking say his name. But he... acquired a shitload of comic books from his dad. And I have people tell me this all the time. They come to the shop. We start talking geeky stuff and they're like, yeah, I got comic. I got old comic books. Maybe we could trade. And they're all garbage. It's all stuff from the night spawn. None of that stuff's worth anything. Anybody who wanted to buy one, they made a million of them. I could go on eBay and buy a 9.8 Spawn number one for 250 bucks. But this guy. speaker-1: You can still buy them. speaker-0: says to me, my dad has had all these comics from when he was a kid in his attic. And I was like, I've heard this fucking story before, but sure. He goes, can I send you some pictures of stuff I got? I'm like, yeah. So he starts sending me pictures and my dick got so fucking hard. Bro. speaker-1: I bet you was like fucking spider in number- yeah dude speaker-0: This is the most insane private collection I have ever fucking seen. And he's got 400 books. He only sent me 20, 20 or 30. The first fucking book he shows me is Incredible Hulk 181, which is the first appearance of Wolverine. And it was in incredible shape. Dude, again, my hair is standing up talking about it. I said, can you bring that to the shop? So I get my gloves out. Yeah. I start going through this book and I'm really good with grading from the eye. So I was like, bro, this is the best specimen I've ever seen. It's probably an 8.5, maybe higher. I gave him grading information, where to go. Guys will press and do his books. So he had that one. He had Amazing Spider-Man 129. Oh, you know who that is? speaker-1: That's the, isn't that the fucking, Jesus Christ. you me. No, ⁓ let's do it. Yeah. speaker-0: First appearance of. Punisher. it's a Punisher. So you had that one, which was, again, decent shape, not like 181. He had Hulk 180, which is the one right before it. He had 182. He had giant size X-Men. And I'm like, I'm looking at all these books and I'm like, bro, this is this is fucking insane. So he shipped them all off to get graded. And I'm like, texting him like they're my books. I'm like, dude, when when are you getting them back? He goes, I think we're getting them this week. He texts me a graded a fucking nine. speaker-1: I did speaker-0: I was like, dude, that's a $13,000 book. So he's supposed to come over my house and we're going to go through all the other books and I'm going to put him to sleep and bury him in my backyard. speaker-1: I mean, I got a little wee wee, but I'm at full mass too. speaker-0: It's just so crazy to see something like that in the wild. he's such a good dude. For someone to acquire something like that and not realize what they had until I told them, you're going to be fucking floored when I tell you what you have in that box. It's insane. yeah, good stuff. Like I get stuff like that all the time, too. People come and just donate shit to the shop just so can hang it on the wall. It's like I fucking open a tattoo shop and people just want to give me stuff to hang it up here. It's so cool. I'll tell you what, he got lucky because if you take it to the wrong person, like, and it's worth like five bucks. Yeah. You know, get some out of it. Yeah. So I that's for me. That's bad comic karma. ⁓ absolutely. I like, can't I can't lie about that. Like he could have went to anybody and but he knew that I would be the guy to to be able to help him out with some of stuff. And I was like, dude, I'll help you. I love doing that kind of stuff. I would do that for free for anybody. I love creating books. Like, ⁓ my God. Yeah. speaker-1: DATS MUH DATS DUDE speaker-0: I'm holding a fucking grail right now. Yeah, it's dope. You know, meanwhile, I'm going through my fucking comics and I got fucking wild dog. The shittiest book ever. I bought for 75 cents. Mom, this is one through four. We have to get this. I'm at Rite Aid when I'm 13 years old. It's worthless. I wipe my ass with that dickhead book. I get nothing like that. My dad didn't collect fucking comic books. My dad collected hammers. speaker-1: Nothing. speaker-0: The hammers aren't worth shit. ⁓ not that kind of hammer. 916 that 916 is worse shit. Thanks, dad. Sorry, dad. I still love you. He listens anyway. speaker-1: His dad senses might be tingling or some shit. I think my boy's talking about me. speaker-0: Can you call it gold? speaker-1: Oh, yeah. Well, you see those commercials now to where all the old people like I got like these things that gold and all that crap. Like in case like, when the when the system goes down and I got all these precious metals. Yeah. I'm like, you're 90 years old, man. Like a 12 year old is to take it from me. speaker-0: I would tell them it's worthless. I'd say that. But yeah, listen, how's your dementia doing? speaker-1: If this shit hits the fan man like the zombies are going around you're not gonna be able to beat him off with a goddamn couple of bricks of freaking gold It's gonna be the little 12 year old with a slingshot It's gonna kill you kill the zombies and take the gold and he's gonna use it as pogs or some shit. I don't know speaker-0: What stuff? There's the throwback. Yeah, they go like, give me the rocks, speaker-1: I like these shiny, shiny slab things. Probably, you know, it's like Jesus Christ, you know. Well, maybe you had your shot. Jesus actually came to you and said, you know, you did. That's like I just want to eat my breakfast sandwich. speaker-0: We're all gonna go to hell. I don't care. Look, if fucking if that dude on the back of that truck is Jesus, my church owes me a lot of fucking money. Yeah, a lot of money. I don't need a lot of ⁓ speaker-1: Don't need a lot of money, but my soul's going to hell. speaker-0: What is, another question she asked was what is the etiquette, I don't know if it's etiquette or what is the, yeah, for tipping. Like a lot of people just, first tattoo, I'm sure you guys deal with this a lot where they're just like, oh, I'm paying for the tattoo and that's it. You're actually supposed to tip your tattoo artist. So is there like, almost like waitressing where it's like 20 % or 25 % or? Typically, so I literally had somebody ask this last week. It was this, I did a. speaker-1: dipping speaker-0: half sleeve on them and then another half sleeve two days later, which is kind of rare. But ⁓ he asked me, like, you know, what do people normally tip? And I never answer. always say, listen, whatever you want, anything's appreciated. You don't have to. But I always try to we do have a tip in this classy sign in the shop, because I really do want my artists to get tipped ⁓ because they kick in. ⁓ They work on percentages. You know, they pay me the shop. I'm throwing up air quotes and ⁓ listen, at the end of the day, you know, there's fucking we pay taxes. They pay for their personal supplies. I pay for the rest of the supplies. ⁓ They kick their percentage in. So, yeah, any any tip on top of that is greatly appreciated. Usually they do do 20 percent, though. OK, typically. speaker-1: Especially like the size of the tattoos and how much time it takes is like Jesus Christ. ⁓ speaker-0: Yeah, my buddy, his his his girlfriend got a titty chandelier tattoo. It was 21 hours over three to three days from Ryan Ashley. Anybody who knows Ryan Ashley, she's one Ink Master and she's wildly popular in like the jewel type tattooing stuff. I think the tattoo is seven grand and I think he tipped her 900 bucks. There you go. Something like that. So, I mean, that's a that's a lot of tattooing. Like that's I certainly would never sit down for 20 hours. I can't sit in my chair and watch TV for 20 hours. I'm definitely not gonna get poked. speaker-1: Unless maybe it's a Star Wars marathon that I might be able to do. I might have to get up to a couple of bathroom... speaker-0: don't even know if I could do that. That's a long time. I'm just like, got to do something. 20 hours. They did it all one straight through. Yeah. It two. It was was was three straight days at a convention. They drove to. I don't know if she said the last the last day was three hours of just white Jesus. She's like, I watched my soul leave my fucking body. It was horrible. That has got to be so goddamn. What's the word I'm looking for? Just like blah. Like this is at one point you're probably just like tattooing autopilot at that point. Yeah. Like you're just checked out. I don't even I'm going tell you straight up, like I don't even like tattooing my own things for 20 hours. Like to me, it's too much. Like I like a variety of things and I get bored. Like, so I like to if I do a half sleeve in a day, I want to work on something else the next day. Yeah. I know there's there's artists out there that are so good to do like 12, 15 hour pieces over a weekend. Yeah. Can't do it. speaker-1: in in a goddamn trance. speaker-0: It's I would I would burn myself out and I would want to not tattoo anymore if I did. That's what I meant, like you probably just, you know, redundancy. You're just checked out. You're kind of like, ⁓ shit, I've been doing the same thing for three hours at same color. my God. Yeah, that's got to It's seriously the hardest thing. When I first started tattooing, I've been tattooing almost 17 years now. But when I first started tattooing, the hardest thing was for me to mentally slow down and understand that ⁓ speaker-1: Based on interest really. Yeah, just call. speaker-0: I might not get this done today. You know, which is, you know, when I was in shop, me and Herbie went to VOTEC and I would sit in shop and and draw. I could probably draw a picture in a day depending on what it is. But with tattooing, like my brain is like, oh, my God, I want to see this done. I to this done so badly. you know, you have to tell yourself very early on, this is this might not get done. And I have to be a it's going to be a bummer because I might not see this person for 10 weeks. Yeah. You know what mean? speaker-1: Yeah, right. That's crazy. It's almost like you leave your art project. Later, then you're like, ⁓ God, you almost got to like reignite like the artistic version of like that that piece that you're working on it. speaker-0: They walk out the door. I'm going to say, that hard to do? Like after a certain amount of time, like 10, 11 weeks to go back to like something that's not finished or and to continue that to get in that mindset or like that flow. It's hard. Yeah, sometimes it always depends on what it is. I won't say what the projects were, but I've had two or three in the past year that every time they came back, I always I tell all my artists, you have to treat this like this is the best day ever. You have to. Get yourself in a mindset where I'm going to this people are paying a lot of money for this. Get get in his own lock in and fucking just do the work because it does it does get it does get a little tricky when you're over something. It's usually a back piece or a giant leg. You know, that's why I like to try to. Big, big old woman. Yeah. big old leg. Like you just I try to finish something every day, you know, get the get a big chunk done. It doesn't sound good anyway. Yeah, get it. it. it doesn't sound good because of him. Every time you say big chunk of something, I got this picture of this woman in my mind. speaker-1: Tell them large margin sent you. speaker-0: As Charles Barkley says, this is big old San Antonio woman. The biggins. speaker-1: Yeah, man, definitely a bacon. speaker-0: If everybody was a midget, or I can't say midget anymore. speaker-1: You can like they did the willow things or maybe like, know, you gotta come up, you know speaker-0: If everybody was a midget, you could get a sleeve done in an afternoon. speaker-1: I with my height, I'm like a fucking hobbit. you know. Yeah, definitely. That's why the goddamn movies took so fucking long. They got little dudes like me to walk to that goddamn fucking mountain. I mean, it just ubered the goddamn eagles or to the freaking mountain game over. That's it. You got the two shortest little dudes and they're rather husky. They're not in shape to walk like 70,000 miles to a fucking volcano. speaker-0: I could, I met him. Yeah. speaker-1: Jerk-offs wonder why it's taken forever. I hate that's like each I like I mean they're like nine hours apiece speaker-0: But they're just so boring I've never seen any of them. Yeah, my dad loved all that shit. Yeah, I mean speaker-1: Like, I still liked it, but they were, I mean, they were long as fuck. speaker-0: It took me three times to get through the first one. speaker-1: Well, no shit, because it's like 35,000 hours long. speaker-0: on. Yeah. You I didn't watch those movies in clerks to where him and one of the plays the Hobbit. He was like, you want to know what those are? Yeah. walking. Well, fucking here's the first movie. Three, four like your. The trees walk to that. The two guys at the counter like fucking right. was like, I guess I don't have to see that. Yeah. It's a lot. speaker-1: Here's the second. He's like. Yeah, pretty much, speaker-0: So you mentioned the show, it's called I Am Inked. Yeah, it's coming out on Amazon. Yep. It's about it's a show. It's it's it's actually a docu film. Originally, it was pitched as a TV show. Now it's like it's going to be a like a documentary. So it just follows tattooers. There's 10 of us. And they filmed this everywhere. They filmed this at our shops. I went to my mom's house and they filmed us there. I actually I don't know if it'll make the movie or not, but speaker-1: it. speaker-0: I fucking grabbed my mom's phone while she was in the shitter and I was like, I'm on camera filming a TV show and I just shit my pants. I updated her Facebook status wall. And I showed that, like they filmed me showing them her Facebook. speaker-1: I'm not sure. speaker-0: And my mom my the producer actually looked at my mom. He's like, know, you might want to check your phone She goes did he take my phone was in the bathroom and she looks at you I'm on TV for the first time and I just shit my pants. ⁓ my god speaker-1: Okay. You better keep that in there. speaker-0: So it's so good. My mom was fucking great on that show, too. She's awesome. So are you somebody's from Cali, Delaware? Yeah. Just the own. Are they just artists or they business owners or? So I think ⁓ several of them are shop owners that I know that I know ⁓ some of them. don't. Some of them just work at shops. But. ⁓ I think one of the guys from California and the rest is from Delaware, PA and New Jersey. Somebody might be from Virginia, too. I forgot. But I said I'm going to be watching this with everybody the first time. And I the only thing I've seen is the trailer like everybody else. So I haven't. I'm just waiting like everybody else. Everybody keeps asking me. I don't fucking know. Yeah, you were saying that they haven't given you a release date or anything yet or. Every time they give us a release date, it's pushback. So it's kind of been a point of frustration for everybody, but I'm just hoping it comes out soon. I mean, it's supposed to be done. So we'll see what happens. It'll be on Amazon Prime. When it is, we'll share it. speaker-1: Do you go to that Lala like often maybe that guy's there you can ask me Let me ask you a goddamn question what is my show coming out? I'll buy you a sandwich if you tell me speaker-0: me out sir. Sorry, I was probably gonna give you that. The wife. We're good bro. Yeah. speaker-1: See, there's always that dude that stands by the trash can at a Wawa. So other listeners, if you guys have that dude that hangs out by trash can at Wawa, let us know of your local sage. Let us know. We want to know. Yeah. We definitely want to know. got like a map or something. Like a little pegs and all these wizards. speaker-0: afraid to look. They all probably went to high school. speaker-1: Probably every speaker-0: They all should be famous though. Everyone should be a star. speaker-1: Yeah, actually, they should you know what they should actually either have a show about those guys or we have them on the show like at a remote location and have them like have like a a flight to the death. speaker-0: Could you imagine getting all those fucking ⁓ wackos and fucking speaker-1: There's a lot of wah-wahs too, dude. ⁓ that would be reality showing itself. speaker-0: We could have Jesus, there's a black guy who always accosts me outside of the fucking wall every time, there's the guy who fights himself. mean, there's so many people. speaker-1: I got the husky guy that likes to talk to himself and ask me like, have I got any sandwiches? speaker-0: You know, he's got the one overweight lady just talking to herself. Yeah. speaker-1: I mean, yeah, yeah. For some reason, she always smells like crock pot soup. I don't get that. I ⁓ don't get that. That's that's one of my things. I never trust a woman that smells like crock pot soup. It's just it. I know it sounds weird, but just trust me, I'm talking about. speaker-0: Yeah. I've ever been around the woman. smells like. speaker-1: You know what mean? I mean, don't get me wrong, you know, like sometimes it's still like, you know, like it like Brown's mills and they're like, you someone go in someone's house. They always got like the crock pot going and you know, either like it could be squirrel in there. You don't know where it be. Kabasa, it could be deer or whatever. So the house smells like crock pot soup. I got you. But when you yourself is emanating in this miasma of crock pot soup scent, it's almost like you're basking the goddamn thing. speaker-0: and you take it you. speaker-1: Yeah, there's a fucking problem. I'm sorry. I mean you can eat it You don't have to fucking bathe in it or marinate in it. Just don't trust me people Don't trust anyone that smells like crockpot soup. They're fucking evil. I'm telling you don't do it speaker-0: I'm with him. I'm actually with him on the crockpot soup. speaker-1: Did you ever have to pick somebody up or something like that? You smell crockpot soup, you get them out of your goddamn vehicle. Seriously. speaker-0: another problem you guys have. my God. People that come into a tattoo shop or just anything. Stinky people in general. We have tricks. know, we have I keep Vicks Vaporobe my head. You shove that in your nose. speaker-1: It's like Silence of the Lambs and shit. speaker-0: I drink coffee and sometimes I'll tell them straight up, I'm like, yo, if my breath is hawking, me. You can give me the hawk talk. speaker-1: If there's any other odors that offend, you might want to come to let us know too. speaker-0: ⁓ man, we had a we had somebody in the shop the other day that stunk the whole fucking shop up and I'm not even exaggerating and I'm going I'm literally looking at my dick. I'm like it smells like it's under me. Like is it my dick and balls or is it like what is going on? I was like worried that it was actually my dick and balls. So I went around the other side and I I smell it was like going to my buddy Mike and I'm like you're taking balls? No. speaker-1: You got like the FAMONDA? It's like, well, what was the temperature like? Was it hot out? speaker-0: I mean, not hot enough to smell like a shit sandwich in there. It was rough. It was smell like vomit and poop. Oh, I just think it's great. Right. Fucking the grundle area. Yeah. I out and pick guy. I'm like, is that me or everyone? speaker-1: I'm like, get out! Every dude's self-conscious about that. Like, am I bald-smelled? Like, you want to have, like, nice... speaker-0: You want to nice smelling dick and balls always super important speaker-1: You never know, man, especially. Yeah, seriously. I am conscious of that too, man. You don't want no God. ⁓ speaker-0: that Mando shit don't they have the spray now dude wipes company that makes like ball fuck speaker-1: I don't know that well. There's there's like. There's like some shit that looks like the underarm deodorant shit and you just like swab your taint with it. But like me or or or maybe you just wash your cock bull. speaker-0: But you know what though, I could walk from here to my truck and it starts, I can feel it. Like I'm like, it's starting to sweat. speaker-1: If you got swamp balls, I get it. But you know, that's summertime and all that. Yeah, but. Yeah, that's. speaker-0: up a whole tattoo shop. She's lighting candles and she opened the door and I'm like, Oh my God, this is making my fucking eyes water. It's so brutal. Yeah. Terrible. Terrible. Small tat or big one. I'm going to give too many hints away. I'm going to you an hour to. speaker-1: Okay, never mind. speaker-0: It was in a fucking charity event so that's all I know tattooing speaker-1: Raise your hands. speaker-0: Whoever the fuck it speaker-1: mentioned the name or not like that. speaker-0: I wouldn't have known it anyway. speaker-1: But please be kind. Wash your ass. That's all. That's all. Please rewind and please be kind. Just wash your ass. Yep. So I'm telling you, man, I mean, I like I like soup, but like, yeah, you don't you don't have to like fill up a kiddie pool and marinate in a shoe. OK, marinate your meats. Don't marinate your ass. That's all I'm saying. speaker-0: And no crock pots. Yeah. I get fucking mad when I come out like because some 7-elevens dude when you come out you smell like that 7-eleven. ⁓ that pisses me off man speaker-1: I like the one liquor store man always smells like fucking like sandalwood fucking incense. I hate that. So choke on that shit. speaker-0: Anyone that's owned by Indian guys. It's like, ⁓ wow. speaker-1: Sandalwood, everywhere, like that, I know, I used to burn incense cones. There's more than just fucking sandalwood. speaker-0: Yeah, that's 7-eleven in Delania where I before I moved here. Holy shit. Out of there just woof. speaker-1: Like the girls back in the day. It was like, what was it like? The girls back in the day was like, you know, like the hippie chicks. They all had that one perfume that they always wear. But you know what it used to remind me of? Remember the He-Man toy stink or. ⁓ yeah. It smelled just like that. Yes. But what the fuck is the. speaker-0: You're ⁓ talking to Mr. He-Man. I have them all. still have them all. speaker-1: Yeah, I know we'll get a nerd stuff. Yeah, it's like why why like to do that invented that shit moss man speaker-0: ⁓ Like fucking ⁓ he had a ⁓ fucking fragrance too, but it wasn't like Yeah, it was like it was like moss.
