- 0:11Speaker 1: other on the.

- 0:19Speaker 3: It's Off the Bench.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Welcome in our number three, a Friday edition of Off
- 0:55Speaker 4: the Bench.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's been a long week, y'all. We're here.
- 1:00Speaker 4: We've been hanging out with you all week long. In
- 1:01Speaker 4: place of Jacob Est and Matt Flynn. They'll be back
- 1:05Speaker 4: on Monday. We got a picture from Matt Flynn yesterday
- 1:08Speaker 4: talking about football weather and he was sitting there and
- 1:11Speaker 4: what appeared to be like twenty degrees with his old
- 1:15Speaker 4: ski goggles and ski cap on. So Matt over there
- 1:18Speaker 4: on the child's loop, probably learning how to ski.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Here.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Ross is going to call us. He just sent me
- 1:27Speaker 4: a text saying if we had issues.
- 1:30Speaker 3: He could call in.
- 1:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I just texted him.
- 1:33Speaker 4: So we'll get to Ross in just a second. But
- 1:35Speaker 4: we got Doug Thompson coming up at nine thirty. Next segment,
- 1:40Speaker 4: after we have Ross College Football put out they ranked
- 1:45Speaker 4: the SEC incoming transfer quarterbacks. One team is not on
- 1:49Speaker 4: the list, and it all boils down to an NCAA
- 1:52Speaker 4: decision surrounding Joey Aguilar, which I really want to get
- 1:56Speaker 4: into because Joey Aguilar is still waiting on a decision
- 1:59Speaker 4: from the NCAA, which I think is absolutely crap because
- 2:03Speaker 4: you look at some of the other guys they have
- 2:05Speaker 4: been eligible and it took a while on and mainly
- 2:07Speaker 4: uh Trinidad shambless if you could believe that. But uh,
- 2:11Speaker 4: we'll get into that a little bit later on we
- 2:14Speaker 4: get Ross on.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Ross has put out a ton of articles.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I mean, you go to Louisianasports dot net every single day,
- 2:21Speaker 4: Ross has multiple articles.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Want to break that down.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I mean, we talked yesterday about the possibility of a
- 2:26Speaker 4: Travis ETN and a Breeze Hall and free agency. Those
- 2:29Speaker 4: were Ross articles. We'll get an update from him on
- 2:32Speaker 4: all of that. We'll talk Teddy Bridgewater, We'll talk Alvin
- 2:37Speaker 4: Kamara's future in New Orleans. We'll get him on in
- 2:39Speaker 4: just the second to break all of that down. And
- 2:42Speaker 4: it looks like we actually do have Ross so joining
- 2:45Speaker 4: us right now Louisiana Sports dot Net. You can also
- 2:47Speaker 4: catch him locked on Saints our guy Ross Jackson, Ross,
- 2:50Speaker 4: how are you this morning.
- 2:52Speaker 7: Hey, Hey buddy, doing great, doing great? Thanks for having me.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, Rals, thanks for hopping on.
- 2:57Speaker 4: You know, I've been I've been breaking down a lot
- 2:58Speaker 4: of your articles this week hosting on OTB, and I
- 3:01Speaker 4: wanted to kind of, you know, break them down a
- 3:04Speaker 4: little bit further here with you. I was looking at
- 3:06Speaker 4: your articles about you know, Travis et and Bresall and
- 3:10Speaker 4: all this, and maybe maybe not even those guys in particular, Ross,
- 3:13Speaker 4: But what are the chances that the Saints target a
- 3:16Speaker 4: running back in free agency? We hear a lot about
- 3:18Speaker 4: Jeremiah Love in the draft. He's been kind of a
- 3:21Speaker 4: hot topic of conversation. But could the Saints go a
- 3:23Speaker 4: different route and bring in a more experience guy.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that they could if that's a position
- 3:28Speaker 2: that they're that they're interested in addressing in maybe a
- 3:31Speaker 2: larger way, right, Like, there's kind of this two way
- 3:34Speaker 2: path that you kind of have to play, the running
- 3:36Speaker 2: back position to where the things could use some more
- 3:38Speaker 2: talent injected into that room. Obviously, they feel really good
- 3:41Speaker 2: about where things could potentially head with Alvin Tuera, but
- 3:44Speaker 2: Alba Babara's also been dealing with injuries here recently. Devin
- 3:47Speaker 2: Neil came in had an impressive rookie season, but overall
- 3:50Speaker 2: that room still has a lot of question marks in
- 3:52Speaker 2: terms of, you know, long term planning. And so I
- 3:55Speaker 2: think that's the that's the other piece, right, It's not
- 3:57Speaker 2: just about hey, what can you do to help them
- 3:59Speaker 2: make this team better for twenty twenty six, but what
- 4:02Speaker 2: investments are you able to make to potentially get you
- 4:04Speaker 2: ready for sort of the post Alvin Kamara days in
- 4:07Speaker 2: New Orleans at and running back And that's where sort
- 4:10Speaker 2: of these young free agents like Breist Hall, Rico Dowdell
- 4:13Speaker 2: I'd throw into that category as well, who would be
- 4:15Speaker 2: a pretty good confidence album Kamara in the meanwhile, you
- 4:18Speaker 2: know Kenneth Walker of the Third who I'm I'm you know,
- 4:22Speaker 2: I wouldn't be shocked stays in Seattle right, and other
- 4:27Speaker 2: running backs that are out there, ETN and others. It
- 4:29Speaker 2: gives them an opportunity to be able to invest in somebody.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It's going to help them bolster their room right now,
- 4:34Speaker 2: not necessarily replace talent, but both of their room right now,
- 4:37Speaker 2: and then be ready to replace talent at a later time.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And so with there being this sort of wealth of
- 4:43Speaker 2: young veteran running backs in this year's free agency class.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's a place where they could play. Otherwise they could
- 4:48Speaker 2: wait until the draft, where there's still pretty good talent,
- 4:51Speaker 2: particularly at the day one, day two range at the position.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Just think I'm with the running backs you just mentioned
- 4:57Speaker 4: Alvin Kamara. What is his future look like in New Orleans?
- 5:01Speaker 4: And not even whether or not he's with the team
- 5:02Speaker 4: or not. I imagine most of us believe he's going
- 5:04Speaker 4: to be here, but like, what does his role look
- 5:06Speaker 4: like moving forward?
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, it's going to be really interesting
- 5:10Speaker 2: to see. I think you know, they were interested in
- 5:14Speaker 2: him being returning to a little bit more of a
- 5:18Speaker 2: judicious usage last year as opposed to being more of
- 5:21Speaker 2: a bellcow guy like what we saw post Latavius Murray
- 5:24Speaker 2: here in New Orleans, and so I think you would
- 5:27Speaker 2: probably want to continue to go that route, especially if
- 5:30Speaker 2: you're going to end up being without Taystom Hill, who
- 5:32Speaker 2: also helps to contribute or has helped to contribute to
- 5:35Speaker 2: that running game over the course of his years in
- 5:37Speaker 2: New Orleans. His contract is set to void on March tenth.
- 5:40Speaker 2: If he's not back in New Orleans, then I think
- 5:42Speaker 2: you're looking at Alvin Kamara and trying to find maybe
- 5:45Speaker 2: a second and potentially third back, including you know, you've
- 5:49Speaker 2: got guys like Kendrick Miller coming back off injury, you
- 5:51Speaker 2: have Devin Neil going into a second year. They've got
- 5:54Speaker 2: some talent there. But I think that's the way that
- 5:56Speaker 2: you maximize Alvin Kamara, and he's talked about this as well,
- 5:59Speaker 2: is finding to utilize him a little bit more specifically, right,
- 6:04Speaker 2: and so it's utilizing him as that, you know, third
- 6:08Speaker 2: down back that you can throw the ball to if
- 6:10Speaker 2: you need to, but also utilizing him in a you know,
- 6:14Speaker 2: more expansive role estimately that can run both between the
- 6:18Speaker 2: tackles and outside the tackles, working on getting him out
- 6:20Speaker 2: in space, all those other things. So I think that
- 6:22Speaker 2: when it comes to Alvin, the role for him is
- 6:25Speaker 2: probably one that utilizes him a little bit more uniquely
- 6:28Speaker 2: and specifically, as opposed to one that treats him as
- 6:31Speaker 2: a bell cow back.
- 6:32Speaker 4: At this point, well, shifting away from running back, you know, again,
- 6:37Speaker 4: Jeremiah Love keeps being a topic of conversation. So let's say,
- 6:41Speaker 4: you know, for the hypothetical here, they do take Jeremiah
- 6:44Speaker 4: Love as far as free agency, goes o line wide receiver.
- 6:47Speaker 4: There's a lot of big name wide receivers that could
- 6:50Speaker 4: hit that free agency market. Could you see the Saints
- 6:52Speaker 4: potentially reaching.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Out to some of them, Yeah, I think so. And look,
- 6:56Speaker 2: I think offensive line is a place where you spend
- 6:58Speaker 2: in free agency this year. There's especially on the interior,
- 7:01Speaker 2: there's a lot of talent in this year's free agency class,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and so you know, if you can't sign the big
- 7:06Speaker 2: names like a David Edwards that's coming out of out
- 7:09Speaker 2: of Buffalo, then you know there's there's other guys that
- 7:12Speaker 2: you could roll the dice on that you could look at.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You could look at bringing at Ingram back to Louisiana
- 7:16Speaker 2: from Houston. There's a lot of talent that in that spot,
- 7:20Speaker 2: and so wide receiver then becomes maybe a little bit
- 7:22Speaker 2: more of a secondary position to target. And I also
- 7:27Speaker 2: think that wide receiver is the deepest position in this
- 7:30Speaker 2: year's draft class, along with maybe edge rusher, and so
- 7:33Speaker 2: you can also wait until Day two, day three at
- 7:36Speaker 2: wide receiver and get somebody that's going to be able
- 7:39Speaker 2: to contribute to your team. When it comes to that position,
- 7:43Speaker 2: you don't have to necessarily go with the big X
- 7:45Speaker 2: receivers like a Jordan Tyson out of Arizona State or
- 7:48Speaker 2: a Carnel Tate out of Ohio State. You could go
- 7:50Speaker 2: for players that give you maybe eight yards after catch threat.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Go for players that give you maybe you know, secure
- 7:56Speaker 2: possession receiver types like a Ted Hurst or like a
- 7:59Speaker 2: male Thai Fields out of Notre Dame. There's a lot
- 8:02Speaker 2: of these different sort of archetypes of receivers in the
- 8:04Speaker 2: draft class that, yeah, you can go and do that.
- 8:06Speaker 2: In free agency, guys like Romeo Dobbs coming out of
- 8:09Speaker 2: Green Bay. You could look at guys like Alec Pierce
- 8:12Speaker 2: who could potentially go and be on his way out
- 8:14Speaker 2: in Indianapolis, though he seems likely to stick around and
- 8:17Speaker 2: Indy you could go that route there. But even if
- 8:19Speaker 2: you don't, and even if you don't address wide receiver
- 8:21Speaker 2: in the first round because you want to go Jeremiah
- 8:23Speaker 2: Love or you want to go with one of those
- 8:24Speaker 2: edge rushers or whatever it might be, you're still in
- 8:26Speaker 2: a really good position at wide receiver to add a
- 8:28Speaker 2: player with an elite trait. It's not necessarily going and
- 8:31Speaker 2: finding a specific archetype of wide receiver, but can you
- 8:34Speaker 2: go and find that pass catcher that can bring an
- 8:36Speaker 2: elite trait that you otherwise don't have in that room,
- 8:38Speaker 2: and I think you can do that into day two
- 8:40Speaker 2: or day three of the draft as well.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Speaking of the dravel, let's go right there.
- 8:44Speaker 4: The Saints sit at aid and my thought's always been,
- 8:47Speaker 4: you're inside the top ten and it looks like you
- 8:48Speaker 4: have your quarterback in the future, so you're kind of
- 8:50Speaker 4: sitting pretty You could go a lot of different ways.
- 8:53Speaker 4: If Ross Jackson is a GM of the New Orleans Saints,
- 8:56Speaker 4: who do you draft at eight overall?
- 8:57Speaker 8: Or what position?
- 8:58Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, look, a position would be irrelevant to me.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Everything would really be all about, you know, who is
- 9:05Speaker 2: the best player that's on the board. And so if
- 9:07Speaker 2: I'm sitting there at eight and Jeremiah Love is on
- 9:09Speaker 2: the board and he's the best player on my board,
- 9:11Speaker 2: that's who I'm taking. If it's safety Caleb Downs, who's
- 9:14Speaker 2: one of the other best players on you on the board,
- 9:16Speaker 2: if he's the best player on my board at that time,
- 9:19Speaker 2: that's the player that I'm taking. That's kind of the
- 9:21Speaker 2: thing about this upcoming draft class for New Orleans is
- 9:24Speaker 2: that they're in a very similar position. I don't want
- 9:27Speaker 2: to say that they're in a similar position because obviously,
- 9:29Speaker 2: like they had Drew Brees at this time, right, but
- 9:32Speaker 2: they're in a similar position in terms of need when
- 9:36Speaker 2: it comes to that, like how they were in twenty seventeen.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So they have the ability to be able to address
- 9:41Speaker 2: what it is that they need in free agency and
- 9:43Speaker 2: then go into the draft and be able to just
- 9:44Speaker 2: go best player available as they go through. That's what
- 9:46Speaker 2: general manager Making Limis said and is interviewer press or
- 9:48Speaker 2: alongside Kellen Moore, head coach, that that's what they were
- 9:51Speaker 2: planning to do going into this draft, that they're comfortable
- 9:53Speaker 2: going best player available. And so for me, like there's
- 9:56Speaker 2: positions that maybe I wouldn't invest in at eight, Like
- 9:59Speaker 2: I don't know that I would go into your offensive
- 10:01Speaker 2: line at eight. Kind of think the Saints have a
- 10:03Speaker 2: need at tackle that's enough for them to go offensive
- 10:06Speaker 2: line at all at eight. Obviously there are the obvious
- 10:10Speaker 2: positions you're not going to in the top ten, but
- 10:12Speaker 2: you know, outside of that, like if I can get
- 10:14Speaker 2: an EDG rusher, if I can get a wide receiver,
- 10:15Speaker 2: if I can get a running back, if I can
- 10:17Speaker 2: get a safety, that's as long as I'm getting somebody
- 10:19Speaker 2: that is a playmaker, and that's kind of my big
- 10:21Speaker 2: thing is like ppa best playmaker available, that's the player
- 10:24Speaker 2: that I want. And so like for me, the top
- 10:26Speaker 2: guys that are probably hovering around and available in that
- 10:30Speaker 2: cloud at eight are Premia Love out of Notre Dame,
- 10:34Speaker 2: the safety Caleb Downs out of Ohio State, and then
- 10:37Speaker 2: you know, maybe David Bailey, the Texas Tech edge rusher,
- 10:40Speaker 2: could potentially be there at eight. And then you have
- 10:42Speaker 2: that pair of or really that trio of wide receivers
- 10:44Speaker 2: in Jordan Tyson, Carnealtate, Makay Levitan. Any of those guys
- 10:48Speaker 2: I think would be able to come in and contribute
- 10:49Speaker 2: for your team immediately and therefore would make them as
- 10:53Speaker 2: quote unquote shore fire, you know, short things as you
- 10:55Speaker 2: can get in anfield draft.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Russell Jackson our gush right now, luisanosports dot New locked
- 11:00Speaker 4: on Saints Ross. Let's shift back to players that are
- 11:03Speaker 4: currently on the roster but we don't know a ton
- 11:05Speaker 4: about their future. What are the chances of the Saints
- 11:09Speaker 4: bringing back Cam Jordan and.
- 11:10Speaker 3: To Mario Davis.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I personally think that would be a wise move
- 11:15Speaker 2: for New Orleans. It helps out in a couple of
- 11:17Speaker 2: different ways, right, Those are guys that are on avoiding contracts,
- 11:19Speaker 2: which means there's some acceleration of funds in future years
- 11:22Speaker 2: that ends up impacting their salary cap. If you extend them,
- 11:25Speaker 2: you could potentially knock a little bit of that down.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I'm not talking about massive cap savings here. But you're
- 11:30Speaker 2: also bringing back talent is a thing. I mean, look,
- 11:33Speaker 2: Cam Jordan just had ten sacks last season. To Mario
- 11:38Speaker 2: Davis just had a career high in tackles last season.
- 11:40Speaker 2: So you're not bringing back guys just for the sake
- 11:43Speaker 2: of being sentimental. You're not just bringing back guys for
- 11:46Speaker 2: the sake of aiding yourself a little bit. When it
- 11:48Speaker 2: comes to the salary cap. You're bringing back guys that
- 11:51Speaker 2: are produced for you. The tricky part is, I don't
- 11:53Speaker 2: know how many times a team has to go into
- 11:55Speaker 2: negotiations with a player that's both thirty seven and just
- 11:58Speaker 2: had a ten sax season. How many teams have to
- 12:01Speaker 2: go into negotiations with a player that's both your thirty
- 12:03Speaker 2: seven and just had a career high in tackles. That's
- 12:06Speaker 2: really unique. That's a unique negotiation to have to embark upon.
- 12:10Speaker 9: It.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So I think for both those guys like they should
- 12:12Speaker 2: want the money that makes sense to them, and it's
- 12:15Speaker 2: going to be all about whether or not the team
- 12:17Speaker 2: and the player can figure out a way to make
- 12:19Speaker 2: sure that the contracts make sense on both sides. Can
- 12:22Speaker 2: the things help themselves, Can the players get what it
- 12:24Speaker 2: is that they need to feel valued, and then can
- 12:26Speaker 2: you bring that talent back? And look, Camra Jordans just
- 12:28Speaker 2: had ten stacks on his second fewest defensive snaps in
- 12:31Speaker 2: his career this past season, and so it's not like
- 12:34Speaker 2: you have to bring this guy back to play one
- 12:35Speaker 2: hundred percent of your snaps. If he's playing about fifty
- 12:38Speaker 2: percent of his fifty percent of your defensive snaps, it's
- 12:41Speaker 2: clear that something works when it comes to him and
- 12:44Speaker 2: defensive coordinator Brandon Staley system.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Ross one more for you before I get you out
- 12:48Speaker 4: of here. You think Todd Graves is going to buy
- 12:51Speaker 4: the Saints?
- 12:54Speaker 2: No, I don't.
- 12:55Speaker 7: I Well, let me say this way.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I don't think that that's going to be the case
- 12:59Speaker 2: anytime soon. Gail Benson said in an interview back in
- 13:02Speaker 2: November very clearly that the Saints nor the Pelicans are
- 13:05Speaker 2: for sale. That she's not intending to sell any of those.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Now what the future holds and what that means for
- 13:11Speaker 2: the potential of a guy like Todd Gravees to potentially,
- 13:13Speaker 2: you know, invest in and be able to do that
- 13:15Speaker 2: that we don't know, that we can't we can't project.
- 13:18Speaker 2: But as of right now, no, I wouldn't expect that
- 13:20Speaker 2: to be a tomorrow or even within the next few
- 13:23Speaker 2: years kind of a situation, because it sounds like Gail
- 13:26Speaker 2: Benson has has consistently made her intent clear, her intention clear,
- 13:30Speaker 2: that she's not selling the teams.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Ross Jackson, you can catch all of his stuff at
- 13:34Speaker 4: Louisianasports dot ned locked on Saints and follow him on Twitter.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Ross Jackson, Nola, Ross, thanks so much for hopping on
- 13:40Speaker 4: with me this morning.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Of course, thank you all very much.
- 13:42Speaker 8: Talk to you soon.
- 13:43Speaker 4: But yeah, absolutely, that is our guy, Ross Jackson. We'll
- 13:47Speaker 4: step aside on the other side. Look at two quarterbacks
- 13:52Speaker 4: A lot of people think can take the next step
- 13:53Speaker 4: in college football, and I just absolutely disagree with that.
- 13:57Speaker 3: So we'll talk about that next yere on OTV off
- 14:00Speaker 3: the bench.
- 14:01Speaker 10: All right, So you heard Flynn the other day, I mean,
- 14:04Speaker 10: he loves do Sekis. You know that we hear on
- 14:07Speaker 10: the OTV team love Dose Sekis. It is the perfect
- 14:10Speaker 10: beer for any occasion. Lake beer, beach beer, shower beer,
- 14:16Speaker 10: bath beer, you name it, beer like ballpark beer. It
- 14:20Speaker 10: is the go to, and we've said it, We're going
- 14:23Speaker 10: to continue to say it. Whether you're tailgating outside of
- 14:25Speaker 10: Tiger Stadium, watching the Saints on a Sunday, or just
- 14:28Speaker 10: kicking back with your crew, Dose Sekis brings that bowl
- 14:32Speaker 10: flavor and smooth finish that turns ordinary into legendary.
- 14:37Speaker 11: It's not just beer.
- 14:38Speaker 10: It is the beer of champions, or at least the
- 14:40Speaker 10: beer of guys who feel like champions. But you will
- 14:43Speaker 10: feel like a champion when you enjoy an ice cold
- 14:46Speaker 10: Dose Sekis. So you don't have to be a champion,
- 14:48Speaker 10: because Dose Sekis will make you a champion. So the
- 14:51Speaker 10: next time you're watching the game, grab a do Sekis
- 14:53Speaker 10: and remember stay thirsty. My friends responsibly, of course, do
- 14:57Speaker 10: Seki's official beer of unforgettable sports moments going?
- 15:00Speaker 11: Is it going?
- 15:02Speaker 8: Is it going?
- 15:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 15:05Speaker 12: Yeah, Looking.
- 15:18Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves, gets off the
- 15:21Speaker 1: bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, Girl Summers, it
- 15:30Speaker 1: comes up. You don't know what.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Senior jet switch.

- 16:15Speaker 4: Welcome back in Friday edition of OTV just about half
- 16:20Speaker 4: an hour to go with you here on the work week.
- 16:22Speaker 3: As we are working towards the weekend.
- 16:25Speaker 4: CBA Sports put out an article yesterday the top ten
- 16:29Speaker 4: players in college football.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Did they expect we'll have.
- 16:32Speaker 4: A bounce back year in twenty twenty six? A lot
- 16:35Speaker 4: of big time names on there. Ryan Williams, the wide
- 16:39Speaker 4: receiver out of Alabama. Yep, that makes a lot of sense.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I'm good without him, and he burst onto the scene
- 16:45Speaker 4: as a freshman. Do you know he's only seventeen years
- 16:47Speaker 4: old as a freshman. I'm totally kidding. They said that
- 16:49Speaker 4: like ten times every broadcast last year. Jeremy Bernard really
- 16:53Speaker 4: kind of became the top target for ty Simpson down
- 16:55Speaker 4: the stretch. Ryan Williams struggled with some drops, but he's talented.
- 16:58Speaker 4: I mean, we know what Ryan Williams can doom. New
- 17:01Speaker 4: quarterback coming in him and Tysimpson just never really could
- 17:04Speaker 4: find that consistent connection.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I'm good with that. That totally makes sense to me.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Like McKay hughes running back at Houston, he's on this
- 17:12Speaker 4: list again, makes a lot of sense. Fifteen hundred yards
- 17:16Speaker 4: rushing a two lane two years ago. It was a
- 17:18Speaker 4: big time transfer for Oregon. Last year he kind of
- 17:21Speaker 4: fell out of favor in their running back rotation, didn't
- 17:23Speaker 4: do a whole lot for it. He's had a change
- 17:25Speaker 4: of scenery in Houston under Willie Fritz. So there's that
- 17:28Speaker 4: two lane green wave connection there.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I get it.
- 17:31Speaker 4: I think McKay Hughes is going to thrive you to Houston.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Nick Anderson, former LSU wide receiver, transferred over to Kentucky.
- 17:38Speaker 4: He'll be one of their top targets over there. He
- 17:40Speaker 4: was in a crowded wide receiver room at LSU a
- 17:42Speaker 4: year ago and was still recovering from that injury head
- 17:45Speaker 4: at Oklahoma and had a couple nagging ones here as well. Again,
- 17:49Speaker 4: great choice. There's a few names on this list that
- 17:52Speaker 4: are head scratchers.
- 17:54Speaker 3: To be nice.
- 17:58Speaker 4: The first name on this list, DJ Lagway. What is
- 18:05Speaker 4: DJ Lagway bouncing back from. In order to have a
- 18:08Speaker 4: bounce back season, you gotta be good. Let's look at
- 18:11Speaker 4: what DJ Lagway did in two years at Florida as
- 18:15Speaker 4: a freshman in twenty twenty four, played in twelve games,
- 18:19Speaker 4: fifty nine percent completion, nineteen hundred yards, twelve touchdowns, nine interceptions,
- 18:27Speaker 4: virtually nothing on the ground one hundred yards rushing, no touchdowns.
- 18:31Speaker 4: And I heard all off season long, oh, get ready.
- 18:34Speaker 4: DJ Lagway is going to take that next step. And
- 18:37Speaker 4: my old my question was.
- 18:40Speaker 3: In what area?
- 18:41Speaker 4: I mean, where is what did you see from DJ
- 18:43Speaker 4: Lagway as a freshman that can show you that he
- 18:46Speaker 4: can play good football? And so many people were just
- 18:49Speaker 4: so confident. No, Dj Lagway, He's so talented. Is arm talent?
- 18:53Speaker 4: Everybody at this level has arm talent. I hate that, Saint.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I think arm talent is stupid. Look what the arm
- 18:59Speaker 4: talent got him in year two in Gainesville. Twenty two
- 19:04Speaker 4: hundred yards receiving, I mean passing, sixteen touchdowns, fourteen interceptions,
- 19:11Speaker 4: sixty three percent completion. As bad as he was last
- 19:14Speaker 4: year for Florida, he was actually better completion percentage wise
- 19:17Speaker 4: than he was as a freshman. Braxton, you watched LSU
- 19:21Speaker 4: a lot this year. You remember the LSU Florida game.
- 19:24Speaker 4: How many interceptions the Dj Lagway throw against LSU.
- 19:27Speaker 11: Was five, wasn't it?
- 19:29Speaker 4: It doesn't matter if your response is a crap tone,
- 19:32Speaker 4: then you would be correct. It Probably it was five,
- 19:36Speaker 4: and it probably could have been even more than that.
- 19:40Speaker 4: So many people just keep saying, well, this guy's so talented,
- 19:45Speaker 4: he's he's too talented.
- 19:48Speaker 3: He has to be good.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Can anybody out there tell me what DJ Lagway can
- 19:55Speaker 4: do that thirty other quarterbacks in college football camp.
- 20:01Speaker 3: DJ Lagway, let's call it.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Like it is, is getting the hype that he is
- 20:04Speaker 4: getting because he was a five star coming out of
- 20:07Speaker 4: high school. If DJ Lagway would have been a walk
- 20:10Speaker 4: on at Florida and performed like he did for two years.
- 20:12Speaker 4: He wouldn't have been a hot commodity in the transfer
- 20:13Speaker 4: a perto. Nobody would have given it a second thought.
- 20:18Speaker 4: So many times we look at hype, you turn hype
- 20:20Speaker 4: into potential potential that may or may not even be there,
- 20:24Speaker 4: and then you're just determined, Hey, this guy, he's going
- 20:28Speaker 4: to be the next great thing. Like I thought arch
- 20:29Speaker 4: Manning was great the second half of last year, but
- 20:33Speaker 4: so many people came into this season and we talked
- 20:35Speaker 4: about it on OUTB and we all predicted it. He's
- 20:38Speaker 4: going to struggle on the road against Ohio State because
- 20:41Speaker 4: it's his first start being the guy on the road
- 20:44Speaker 4: in a hostile environment like the Horseshoe, and if he
- 20:46Speaker 4: doesn't perform well, people are gonna crucify the kid for it.
- 20:49Speaker 3: And what happened.
- 20:50Speaker 4: He got trolled basically the entire season. The fact of
- 20:53Speaker 4: the matter is, maybe arch Manning actually is a good quarterback.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Maybe he was really over hyped going into the season
- 20:58Speaker 4: because of his name and he needed to get his
- 21:00Speaker 4: feet wet a little bit. Playing the quarterback positions hard.
- 21:03Speaker 4: It's kind of the same thing here with DJ Lagway,
- 21:05Speaker 4: except the flashes haven't been there.
- 21:07Speaker 3: He's a former five star that so.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Many people will not admit that, you know, whether it's
- 21:11Speaker 4: recruiting experts, whoever got it wrong in high school and
- 21:13Speaker 4: they're like, well, he was a five star, he's got
- 21:14Speaker 4: to be good, So.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Stars don't matter.
- 21:19Speaker 4: A guy that normally sits right here in this spot
- 21:22Speaker 4: every morning, who was a two star recrup coming out
- 21:24Speaker 4: of high school and he's one of the best running
- 21:25Speaker 4: backs in LSU history. Nick Saban Les Miles cared what
- 21:30Speaker 4: star ranking Jacob Ester was coming out of high school. No,
- 21:32Speaker 4: it doesn't matter. It matters what you do once you
- 21:34Speaker 4: get there with your opportunity. Now, the thing about DJ Lagway,
- 21:39Speaker 4: the only reason I could see him being on this
- 21:42Speaker 4: list he transferred to Baylor. He's in a new system,
- 21:45Speaker 4: he's under offensive coordinator Jake spabatall look, Baylor ranked number
- 21:49Speaker 4: four nationally in passing offense. So maybe you're thinking, hey,
- 21:52Speaker 4: there's a change of scenery. DJ Lagway's in a new conference,
- 21:56Speaker 4: a new coaching staff, a fresh start under an offense
- 21:58Speaker 4: that had a lot of success.
- 21:59Speaker 3: A year ago.
- 22:00Speaker 7: Cool.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I'm good with that. I can get behind that for
- 22:02Speaker 4: a little bit. I'm a little tired of the DJ
- 22:05Speaker 4: Lagway hype train. But I can get behind that. But
- 22:07Speaker 4: the next name on this list is Leonoris Sellers.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Leonora Sellers.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Lenora Sellers, as far as I know, is still at
- 22:16Speaker 4: South Carolina.
- 22:17Speaker 3: What did Leonori?
- 22:18Speaker 4: How did Lenora Sellers' situation get better than it did
- 22:22Speaker 4: a year ago. Yes, they did a good job in
- 22:26Speaker 4: the transfer portal. On the offensive line, they brought in
- 22:28Speaker 4: j Carry's Peak, they brought in Emmanuel Poku. Both of
- 22:31Speaker 4: those guys are going to be starters for South Carolina.
- 22:33Speaker 4: I get that they had a bad offensive line last
- 22:37Speaker 4: year and they improve that, but is that enough to
- 22:39Speaker 4: help Lenora Sellers?
- 22:40Speaker 8: No?
- 22:41Speaker 3: I mean he gets a Nick Harbor back. Great.
- 22:43Speaker 4: I waited three years for Nick Harbor to do anything
- 22:45Speaker 4: in college and he had six hundred and fifty receiving
- 22:47Speaker 4: yards last year. That's your leading returning receiver. And in
- 22:51Speaker 4: the article on CBS Sports they mentioned, oh well, they
- 22:54Speaker 4: added four receivers. Jayden Gibson, Nitro toggle DJ Black, Jaden
- 23:00Speaker 4: Gibson he was injured. He's been injured for the past
- 23:04Speaker 4: two years. Last time we saw Jaden Gibson on a
- 23:06Speaker 4: football field was twenty twenty three for Oklahoma, three hundred
- 23:09Speaker 4: and seventy five yards receiving five touchdowns. Nitro Toggle coming
- 23:15Speaker 4: from Purdue. Thirty four catches for five hundred yards last year,
- 23:19Speaker 4: CJLA or DJ Black two hundred and seventy three yards
- 23:22Speaker 4: last year, two touchdowns. You added guys, But are any
- 23:26Speaker 4: of these guys gonna make Lenora's Sellers be able to
- 23:29Speaker 4: throw the ball?
- 23:30Speaker 3: They go through his progressions.
- 23:32Speaker 4: No, We were talking about it during break and you
- 23:36Speaker 4: know a lot of people will say, Okay, well he
- 23:38Speaker 4: had a good year two years ago, did he Yeah,
- 23:40Speaker 4: he had a sixty five percent completion percentage, which is good.
- 23:42Speaker 4: But twenty five hundred yards, eighteen touchdowns, seven picks, it's fine.
- 23:48Speaker 4: And he regressed last year just sixty twenty four hundred yards,
- 23:52Speaker 4: thirteen touchdowns, eight interceptions.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I understand the DJ Lagway is.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I mean, Leonora's Sellers is a good runner, but at
- 23:59Speaker 4: some point that it's gotta not matter. Again, the offensive
- 24:02Speaker 4: line was bad last year. You look year one to
- 24:04Speaker 4: year two for Lagway at South Carolina six seventy four
- 24:07Speaker 4: rushing and seven touchdowns. Year one, last year two hundred
- 24:11Speaker 4: and seventy yards on the ground, five touchdowns. He kind
- 24:14Speaker 4: of got worse in pretty much every category. And yes,
- 24:18Speaker 4: the situation had a lot to do with it. And again,
- 24:21Speaker 4: great job on South Carolina and the portal getting these
- 24:23Speaker 4: offensive linemen. But are these receivers that I mean put
- 24:28Speaker 4: up decent numbers? Are they enough to turn Lenora Sellers
- 24:31Speaker 4: completely around? No, Lenora Sellers can't throw the football. I
- 24:35Speaker 4: don't know how that drastically changes this year in Columbia
- 24:38Speaker 4: South Carolina.
- 24:39Speaker 3: All right, look, we're gonna take a quick time out.
- 24:41Speaker 4: We got two segments left coming up on the other side,
- 24:43Speaker 4: we're gonna switch back over to LSU baseball. Former Tiger
- 24:47Speaker 4: pitcher Doug Thompson joining us. Next, you're on off the bench.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 24:54Speaker 10: Well, speaking of diving in, we'd like to dive into
- 24:58Speaker 10: a Russell poll because when you see what they can

- 25:42Speaker 12: Yeah, let them build your dream pool. They can do
- 25:44Speaker 12: everything from design to landscape, architect to finance and options.

- 27:32Speaker 4: I remember three here on a Friday edition of Off
- 27:34Speaker 4: the Bench, Taylor Sharp sitting in for Jacob Hestor and
- 27:36Speaker 4: Matt Flann. We got about twenty minutes or so left
- 27:39Speaker 4: here in this work where you want to go out
- 27:41Speaker 4: to the phone lines.
- 27:42Speaker 8: Right now?
- 27:42Speaker 4: Bring in LSU National champion pitcher Doug Thompson. Doug, how
- 27:46Speaker 4: are you this morning?
- 27:48Speaker 8: Doing good? How you guys doing?
- 27:49Speaker 3: We're doing good?
- 27:50Speaker 8: Man?
- 27:52Speaker 4: Look five games into this thing, the former picture, I mean,
- 27:56Speaker 4: you had a lot of success at LSU. Just kind
- 27:58Speaker 4: of overall thoughts, pitching staff, starting rotation. I mean, what
- 28:02Speaker 4: have you seen from this team five games in?
- 28:05Speaker 7: Well, First of all, these guys are way better than
- 28:07Speaker 7: I ever thought of, being lots of depth, There's lots
- 28:11Speaker 7: of arms.
- 28:11Speaker 8: Coming out of the ten.
- 28:13Speaker 7: Not everybody had their best outing the first outing, but
- 28:16Speaker 7: that's usually the case anyway, right, So lots of new faces.
- 28:21Speaker 7: Of course, the Saturday pitcher, Cooper was off the charts,
- 28:28Speaker 7: I mean might have thrown too many strikes. I mean
- 28:30Speaker 7: he threw his change up twenty eight times twenty five
- 28:32Speaker 7: times for strikes. So lots of town, lots.
- 28:35Speaker 8: Of big arms. And then in terms of.
- 28:38Speaker 7: Offense, you know, obviously a huge spot that you had
- 28:41Speaker 7: to fill was the loss of Jared Jones and bringing
- 28:45Speaker 7: in the notorious Zac Over at first basically a big papa.
- 28:51Speaker 7: What a great guy to fill those shoes.
- 28:53Speaker 8: I mean, he takes the big hack. He's going to
- 28:55Speaker 8: hit the ball hard.
- 28:55Speaker 7: I've seen him hit it literally throughout the course of
- 28:58Speaker 7: the preseason all over the field. But that's the big
- 29:00Speaker 7: takeaways is those new faces seem like they're really actually
- 29:03Speaker 7: going to be able to contribute, and uh, there's there's
- 29:07Speaker 7: there's a lot of talent in terms of the new guys.
- 29:10Speaker 4: As far as the bullpen goes, it just seems like
- 29:13Speaker 4: everybody LSU is going to i mean, you know, buy
- 29:15Speaker 4: and large if you you know, iffy outings here and there,
- 29:18Speaker 4: but by and larger.
- 29:19Speaker 3: This bullpen looks nails early on. What have you seen
- 29:21Speaker 3: from them.
- 29:24Speaker 7: I've seen the same thing you've seen. I mean, there's
- 29:26Speaker 7: been a there's been a couple of little, you know, hiccups,
- 29:29Speaker 7: but again, like that's part of baseball, Like every time
- 29:32Speaker 7: you go out, you can't have a good outing. But
- 29:33Speaker 7: for the most part, most of the guys that came
- 29:36Speaker 7: out of the bullpen did their job. And I guess
- 29:38Speaker 7: the one that has to stick out is Gavin Gidgry,
- 29:41Speaker 7: not only because you know he's returning from an injury
- 29:44Speaker 7: and that's not easy. I literally missed an entire year,
- 29:49Speaker 7: but that guy was number eight and that that means
- 29:51Speaker 7: something to that team.
- 29:52Speaker 8: That's kind of the team captain passed down from year
- 29:55Speaker 8: to year.
- 29:55Speaker 7: That started literally a decade ago, if not more, and
- 30:00Speaker 7: it's special and and to have that type of kid
- 30:03Speaker 7: back on the field with your team is a huge
- 30:06Speaker 7: boost to the team. And then the way he's pitched geez.
- 30:09Speaker 7: I mean, like Gavin Gidry is looking like he should be,
- 30:13Speaker 7: you know, maybe one of those weekend guys if once
- 30:16Speaker 7: he gets up up to where he can get to
- 30:17Speaker 7: seventy eighty pitches, But so far he's been outstanding out
- 30:22Speaker 7: of the bullpen. Of course, again there's there's several others.
- 30:24Speaker 7: I mean, you can ask me about specific guys, but
- 30:27Speaker 7: there's there's so many that it would take me a while,
- 30:29Speaker 7: you know, to pick through each one of them, just
- 30:31Speaker 7: trying to you know, pick out the ones that have
- 30:33Speaker 7: kind of stood out to me.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I'm glad you mentioned Gavin Gidry because you know it
- 30:36Speaker 4: like on this show, other shows we've said, you know,
- 30:38Speaker 4: people kind of forgetting about Guidry and Devin Sheering just
- 30:41Speaker 4: because they didn't pitch last year. And I mean, that's
- 30:43Speaker 4: another guy. It was exciting to see him. I mean,
- 30:45Speaker 4: electric stuff over the weekend from Devin Cheron, no question.
- 30:50Speaker 7: And you know, as a former player athlete, you know
- 30:53Speaker 7: that's that's been injured and had some good buddies be injured.
- 30:57Speaker 7: It's hard not to pull for the guy that's been
- 30:58Speaker 7: out for so long and recovering from that injury, because
- 31:01Speaker 7: you know that as an athlete who's trying to progress
- 31:04Speaker 7: and continue playing, whether.
- 31:06Speaker 8: You're twelve years old or you're.
- 31:08Speaker 7: You know, a freshman in high school or not or
- 31:10Speaker 7: at LSU, that that's adversity and that'll test the will,
- 31:16Speaker 7: your will to compete and to get back out on
- 31:18Speaker 7: the field and to see those kids come back. It's
- 31:20Speaker 7: just so awesome and it Sharon, I mean, that guy's
- 31:24Speaker 7: a ninety nine miles an hour.
- 31:25Speaker 8: Like he's just not back.
- 31:26Speaker 7: He's like an explosive arm that could be huge, Well
- 31:30Speaker 7: will be huge, would.
- 31:32Speaker 8: You would think for LSU this season?
- 31:34Speaker 7: So yes, I would imagine, you know, Coach Johnson, Coach
- 31:40Speaker 7: Esky and and all the others must be tickled, tickled by.
- 31:45Speaker 8: The way those guys man have showed up so far.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Do y'all concerned, know you with Zach Callan?
- 31:54Speaker 8: Not at all?
- 31:55Speaker 7: I mean the guy look the inevitable too. Coach Bertman
- 31:59Speaker 7: used to remind just as starters in the bullpen before games, say,
- 32:02Speaker 7: look the first inning. Don't forget it's the toughest, the
- 32:04Speaker 7: first and the fifth because that's where the team score
- 32:06Speaker 7: the most runs.
- 32:07Speaker 8: The pictures, you know, running out of gas.
- 32:09Speaker 7: Traditionally in the fifth inning of the first inning, there's
- 32:12Speaker 7: several factors against the starting pitcher. Number one, usually you
- 32:15Speaker 7: don't have your stuff.
- 32:16Speaker 8: Like, not all of it.
- 32:17Speaker 7: Like it'd be great to come out of the bullpen
- 32:19Speaker 7: with your you know, feel for all three or four pitches.
- 32:22Speaker 7: But the truth is you usually come out of the
- 32:24Speaker 7: bullpen with one or two, one or two of those
- 32:26Speaker 7: pitches that you're feeling good about, and as the game progresses,
- 32:29Speaker 7: you find those others.
- 32:30Speaker 8: That's number one.
- 32:31Speaker 7: Number two, you're facing the best hitters in the lineup.
- 32:33Speaker 8: Number three.
- 32:34Speaker 7: They're all as focused, as well rested, and as excited.
- 32:39Speaker 8: As they're going to be.
- 32:39Speaker 7: The intensity is there in the first inning.
- 32:42Speaker 8: And then last is the umpire right like he doesn't know.
- 32:44Speaker 7: The strike zone yet for you, he doesn't know where
- 32:47Speaker 7: you are, and there's this kind of feel out situation
- 32:50Speaker 7: that goes on. So I think that's kind of what
- 32:52Speaker 7: Zach ran into. I have the track man strike zone
- 32:57Speaker 7: next to me in the in the booth, and Zach
- 33:00Speaker 7: was he didn't throw his change up over much, but
- 33:03Speaker 7: I'm telling you he was not missing by much. I
- 33:06Speaker 7: mean they were small misses, and sometimes, because of the
- 33:09Speaker 7: nature of the game and the beauty of the sport,
- 33:12Speaker 7: just a couple misses in an inning can lead to
- 33:14Speaker 7: a bad inning. So Zach count as a veteran like
- 33:17Speaker 7: I saw Zach Collen pitches.
- 33:19Speaker 8: Wafford at the UNC a couple of.
- 33:21Speaker 7: Years ago, and you know last year in Omaha, you know,
- 33:25Speaker 7: a big start, Zach Collen does listen. In college sports,
- 33:31Speaker 7: what matters the most, almost even more than physical talent,
- 33:36Speaker 7: is innings under the belt, his experience, right, like, how
- 33:41Speaker 7: old are you? How many pitches have you seen? How
- 33:43Speaker 7: many pitches have you thrown in the big moment, So
- 33:46Speaker 7: don't write off that count.
- 33:48Speaker 8: That guy's got a.
- 33:48Speaker 7: Lot of experience and he'll be just fine. He's a
- 33:51Speaker 7: strike thrower that just didn't throw that many strikes. But
- 33:55Speaker 7: it wasn't like he was throwing the ball up against
- 33:57Speaker 7: the backstop, So no concern for me.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Dog switching from the pitching staff to the position players.
- 34:03Speaker 4: I mean, obviously you mentioned Zach Yorke, you know, the
- 34:07Speaker 4: big body god as we like to call him, said
- 34:09Speaker 4: Dard Arms, looking really good to start the season. Jake Brown, though,
- 34:13Speaker 4: is tearing the cover off the ball right now.
- 34:15Speaker 3: I mean he is. He is seeing it so well.
- 34:17Speaker 4: I mean, obviously, you know you're not going to expect
- 34:19Speaker 4: this pace throughout the entire season.
- 34:21Speaker 3: But I mean, what is the ceiling for Jake Brown
- 34:24Speaker 3: this year?
- 34:27Speaker 8: Oh?
- 34:27Speaker 7: The ceiling?
- 34:28Speaker 8: Wow?
- 34:28Speaker 7: I mean I thought Jake Brown was the best player
- 34:31Speaker 7: on our team last year. I mean, he's big, he's fast,
- 34:33Speaker 7: he's strong, he's got a he's got a great arm
- 34:35Speaker 7: re member. He's like the you know, top one of
- 34:37Speaker 7: the top pitchers in the country coming into l s U.
- 34:40Speaker 7: And uh, and he can hit. And so no surprise
- 34:44Speaker 7: again for Jake and and now like the role he's
- 34:48Speaker 7: or you know, was on there right in the middle
- 34:50Speaker 7: of the end of Game three and in the beginning
- 34:52Speaker 7: of game for four straight homers and four straight at
- 34:54Speaker 7: bat I mean that's like Bay brute type stuff, right,
- 34:57Speaker 7: so uh show hey, you know, and that happens every
- 35:01Speaker 7: now and again. But you know, I could easily see
- 35:04Speaker 7: Jake Brown walking away with more than twenty home runs
- 35:07Speaker 7: and over eighty RBI.
- 35:09Speaker 8: After this season. Like I could easily see that because
- 35:12Speaker 8: he's a stud.
- 35:13Speaker 7: He's going to be one of the better hitters in
- 35:15Speaker 7: that LSU lineup, and he'll be one of the better.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Hitters in the league, transitioning into this weekend, getting a
- 35:21Speaker 4: preview of you know, today's game. In the weekend as
- 35:23Speaker 4: a whole, LSU will be out in Jacksonville for the
- 35:26Speaker 4: Jacks Classic one PM first pitch against Indiana.
- 35:29Speaker 3: They released the pitching lineup.
- 35:32Speaker 4: It kind of started to leak out a little bit
- 35:33Speaker 4: as far as the starting rotation yesterday evening. It looks
- 35:36Speaker 4: like it's gonna be Case and Evans again on Friday,
- 35:39Speaker 4: Cooper more on Saturday. Now Sunday was TBA. I mean,
- 35:43Speaker 4: do you expect it to be William Schmidt again? If
- 35:45Speaker 4: it's not William Schmidt, who's some options out there for
- 35:48Speaker 4: that Sunday roll.
- 35:50Speaker 7: Cooper Williams could be an option, I guess. I mean,
- 35:54Speaker 7: I don't know where Gavin Gidry is in terms of
- 35:56Speaker 7: his pitch count.
- 35:56Speaker 8: But he's pitched so well. I mean, like, wouldn't surprise me.
- 36:01Speaker 7: I'm trying to think of some other guys.
- 36:02Speaker 8: Of course, it's so early in the season.
- 36:03Speaker 7: You're kind of putting me on the spot a little bit.
- 36:05Speaker 8: But I would say my.
- 36:08Speaker 7: First guest would be Cooper Williams, right, And it would
- 36:11Speaker 7: have to do with the lineup, Like if that Sunday
- 36:15Speaker 7: opponent is like heavy lefty, that I could see it
- 36:19Speaker 7: being Cooper Williams. I don't know the reason for the TVA.
- 36:23Speaker 7: I don't have that information to share.
- 36:26Speaker 8: What the lineup is.
- 36:28Speaker 7: I guess maybe I could call and get some more
- 36:30Speaker 7: information later this day, but they probably who is the
- 36:34Speaker 7: Sunday opponent?
- 36:36Speaker 8: Okay, So they're gonna watch UCF can swing it right.
- 36:39Speaker 7: They scored surrounds if I if I recall you so,
- 36:42Speaker 7: I would imagine that Jamie Tutco and Nate and the
- 36:46Speaker 7: entire staff is going to be watching UCF like a hawk,
- 36:50Speaker 7: and they're in the games on Friday and Saturday. And
- 36:52Speaker 7: I would imagine the the information they gather, we'll have
- 36:56Speaker 7: a lot to do with who that is that they
- 36:58Speaker 7: announces that as that force that third starter. But it
- 37:01Speaker 7: wouldn't surprise me if it was if it was Cooper Williams.
- 37:06Speaker 4: As far as in the field goes Chris Stanfield, he's
- 37:10Speaker 4: been dealing with a nagging hand injury. Jay the other
- 37:12Speaker 4: day actually said he's getting close to returning. No word
- 37:15Speaker 4: yet on if it's this weekend or not, Like I say,
- 37:19Speaker 4: available the whole series if not. Tanner Reeves has kind
- 37:22Speaker 4: of been the go to guy out there in left field.
- 37:25Speaker 4: You know, he's he's been hit or missing the field,
- 37:27Speaker 4: but he's been such a good bat. Like is that
- 37:30Speaker 4: Jay's thinking, like, sure, I'm gonna sacrifice a little defense
- 37:32Speaker 4: without Stanfield being out there. But it's kind of hard
- 37:34Speaker 4: to take Reeves out of the lineup the way he's
- 37:36Speaker 4: been hitting right.
- 37:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I think a lot of it has to do
- 37:39Speaker 7: with the offense. But he's got multiple options, yeah, right,
- 37:42Speaker 7: And he's already showed that with Simpson and some others.
- 37:45Speaker 7: But I think Tanner Reeves he probably has a lot
- 37:47Speaker 7: to do with offense.
- 37:48Speaker 8: He's an athletic kid. He can move.
- 37:50Speaker 7: The play that he made, you know, on the line
- 37:54Speaker 7: drive that was awarded an error. You know, mister Brian
- 37:58Speaker 7: Lazar has been up there forever.
- 37:59Speaker 8: He's one of the best in.
- 38:00Speaker 7: The world at keeping scoring baseball. And every now and
- 38:03Speaker 7: again when those those ones that are that are tough decisions, uh,
- 38:07Speaker 7: we'll we'll meet in the hall and talk about him.
- 38:09Speaker 7: And and for me, that was a tough one because
- 38:11Speaker 7: if you recall the play I'm talking about, it was
- 38:14Speaker 7: a line drive kind of in the gaps thinking and
- 38:16Speaker 7: and Reeves was running hard to his left and toward
- 38:20Speaker 7: the infield, uh to catch it, and and it and
- 38:23Speaker 7: it kind of hit the heel of his glove, which
- 38:25Speaker 7: I mean, I've seen that put it this way. I've
- 38:27Speaker 7: seen that be given a hit many times before. Right,
- 38:29Speaker 7: it was a it was a difficult play, but he's
- 38:31Speaker 7: an athletic kid.
- 38:32Speaker 8: He can swing the bat.
- 38:33Speaker 7: Uh, he's older again, lots of reps, lots of inning
- 38:36Speaker 7: under his belt, lots of abs.
- 38:38Speaker 8: Uh.
- 38:38Speaker 7: So I would imagine, uh, you know, Coach j probably
- 38:42Speaker 7: given those guys.
- 38:44Speaker 8: Uh the the early looks.
- 38:45Speaker 7: But honestly, I think early on it looks like he's
- 38:50Speaker 7: got a lot of options. And I tell you another
- 38:52Speaker 7: thing he has as an unusual number of left handed
- 38:55Speaker 7: bats on this year's offensive roster and even more usual
- 39:00Speaker 7: number of left handed hitters that throw right handed. So
- 39:04Speaker 7: that opens up a lot of different, you know, options
- 39:08Speaker 7: for Jay Johnson. And I know that he really grinds
- 39:12Speaker 7: on that lineup every day and it has a lot
- 39:14Speaker 7: to do with what the other what they expect from
- 39:16Speaker 7: the opponent.
- 39:17Speaker 4: LSU National Champion pitcher Doug Thompson. You can also hear
- 39:20Speaker 4: him on the baseball broadcast LSU Sports Radio Network.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Doug, thanks so much for your time this morning.
- 39:27Speaker 8: Thanks for having me.

- 42:35Speaker 4: fun today. Today has been a pretty fun show. You
- 42:38Speaker 4: could tell the Friday vibes. We're to hear all of
- 42:40Speaker 4: us pretty much ready to get out of here. If
- 42:44Speaker 4: you asked the bench questions and here the first one
- 42:46Speaker 4: was asked the bench, did they get a chicken mini yesterday?
- 42:49Speaker 4: Lunda was nice enough to actually save a few brought
- 42:52Speaker 4: them out. I did have a couple had a long
- 42:54Speaker 4: day yesterday and they hit. They hit yeah, I mean
- 42:58Speaker 4: then there was there was a box up there and
- 42:59Speaker 4: I grabbed it for you. They were pretty goods from
- 43:03Speaker 4: Daniel Basham asked the bench, how was Braxton's first week?
- 43:07Speaker 3: Braxton I gotta tell you, man.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Full disclosure, I didn't know how this week was gonna
- 43:12Speaker 4: go because you've never done well, you've never done O
- 43:13Speaker 4: TB before, And like they Kate told me, He's like,
- 43:16Speaker 4: oh yeah, we got Braxtit coming in.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, to the fair. O TB might
- 43:21Speaker 3: be the easiest show for sure.
- 43:23Speaker 4: For sure, it's it's more laid back. But dude, you've
- 43:26Speaker 4: crushed it. You've knocked that out of the park. I mean,
- 43:28Speaker 4: I know you were. You were killing yourself about the
- 43:30Speaker 4: lower third thing, and that was that was on me.
- 43:32Speaker 4: You're good like you Actually you actually killed it. I
- 43:35Speaker 4: mean you were, you were awesome this week.
- 43:36Speaker 3: Man, I was gonna more than he did.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Yeah, right, I screwed up two or three times today
- 43:41Speaker 4: and we do this show every day. We do this
- 43:42Speaker 4: show every day. I think you're in the lead, if
- 43:44Speaker 4: for the first for me for the least number.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Of that was funny.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Actually really, I actually really enjoyed that we should do it.
- 43:50Speaker 4: We should do it Monday, just to screw with them.
- 43:52Speaker 6: Six minutes of commercials for your Friday morning.
- 43:55Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean you were you were alsome. Yeah, Braxton,
- 43:58Speaker 4: thanks for thanks for hanging out with us.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Uh you your paternity leave, dude?
- 44:03Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, We'll have a well paternity leave coming up
- 44:07Speaker 4: in July. So, uh, dude, you you nailed it. It's
- 44:10Speaker 4: always nice to have somebody come in and grind with
- 44:12Speaker 4: you in the morning. You were uh, you were great
- 44:15Speaker 4: this entire week.
- 44:21Speaker 9: I just.
- 44:26Speaker 6: You can't hear it.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I can't know, Braxton, you dea is his head phone?
- 44:31Speaker 3: Is it the weirdest set of it always cuts in
- 44:33Speaker 3: and out.
- 44:33Speaker 4: You know, it's you know it's weird. Mine, don't do
- 44:37Speaker 4: that one else over there?
- 44:39Speaker 11: Yeah, I don't have the adaptor.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Dude, there's one like right behind you at the one
- 44:42Speaker 3: of my truck.
- 44:45Speaker 4: You guys, being an adult, it's so weird when like
- 44:48Speaker 4: your friends text you like a buddy.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Mine text me earlier and goes you busy tonight.
- 44:52Speaker 4: I'm like, hell, yeah, you want to get beers with
- 44:55Speaker 4: the boys, Let's do it. So I said, uh, I said, no,
- 44:58Speaker 4: what's up? If you have some availability, I could use
- 45:02Speaker 4: some help picking up a freezer tonight.
- 45:03Speaker 3: And I'm like, okay, here we go, just adulting.
- 45:06Speaker 4: He did say, though, and then help drinking some beer
- 45:08Speaker 4: out of my garage whenever we're done. So you know,
- 45:10Speaker 4: there's a little bit of fun involved. But he's the
- 45:12Speaker 4: one that actually just had a kid in December, so
- 45:14Speaker 4: happy to help. I'm sure him and his wife actually
- 45:16Speaker 4: going through a lot. Uh guys, fun week, Jacob Matt
- 45:20Speaker 4: will be.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Back on Monday.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Matt Flynn probably freezing in his quote unquote football weather
- 45:25Speaker 4: that he sent us last night wearing the ski goggles
- 45:27Speaker 4: and ski cap. And then Jake took the week off
- 45:30Speaker 4: to be with the kiddos. Can't blame either one of
- 45:32Speaker 4: them for it. Shout out to LSU gymnastics coach at

- 45:49Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints. It's kind of like the calm before
- 45:51Speaker 4: the storm. He got free agency coming up. You got
- 45:52Speaker 4: to decide what to do with some key veterans and
- 45:54Speaker 4: then of course the draft will be here before we
- 45:57Speaker 4: know it. And then former LSU national champion Pittrick Doug
- 46:00Speaker 4: Thompson was just one with us last segment. You can
- 46:02Speaker 4: catch him on the YELOSU Sports radio network as well.
- 46:05Speaker 4: Big time series coming up for LSU. They'll play Indiana
- 46:08Speaker 4: today at one pm. They'll play Notre Dame on Saturday,
- 46:11Speaker 4: UCF on Sunday. Should be a really good challenge, step
- 46:14Speaker 4: up in competition in a big way for the Lshot Tigers.
- 46:17Speaker 4: I expect them to knock it out. Alandra Braxton, y'all
- 46:21Speaker 4: were both awesome this week. The mix up were actually
- 46:24Speaker 4: kind of fun today. So go Tigers. We'll see you
- 46:27Speaker 4: guys same time on Monday.
