- 0:00Get laced up. Let's go! It's time for Banter
- 0:04with the Boys. Yo, yo, welcome back to Banter
- 0:16with the Boys. Fast one. Yo, yo, what's up? Laps.
- 0:22That's a lot of energy right now. Joe is ready
- 0:27to go. What's going on, Joe? This was the most
- 0:29exciting Monaco Grand Prix we've had ever. Bar
- 0:33was in high. Yeah, not really. And it also wasn't
- 0:37even that exciting. I mean, hey, it was better
- 0:39than last year. I'll take that, right? I think
- 0:42that's more than enough to be excited for. Smelty,
- 0:43I'm here. You're here. Yes, yes, you're here,
- 0:46Joe. You guys remember, did you guys watch SpongeBob
- 0:49growing up? I watched so much SpongeBob growing
- 0:51up. I'm a loser. You did not? No, I didn't like
- 0:53SpongeBob. Joe, do you know the episode? Well,
- 0:56there was multiple of where they were like, floor
- 1:00it? That's what you just did. You came in here
- 1:03flooring it. So I'm excited about that. But yeah,
- 1:06I'm here too. That's cool. Mike. Hello. I made
- 1:10it again. I'm still here. He beat the system
- 1:13today. Your system was going to mess you up at
- 1:15work. Not even the system can hold me down. It's
- 1:19true. What? I don't know. What's going on? I
- 1:28was going to come off that. Wait a minute. Never
- 1:32mind. We need to move on. We got Kevin, though.
- 1:34Shout out, Kevin. Oh, my God. Anyway, yeah, let's
- 1:43bleep out everything I just said right there.
- 1:45That'd be awesome. Anyway, let's head into the
- 1:49Monaco GP recap. Okay, yes. Pre -race banter,
- 2:10like it says here in our thing. Sprint quality
- 2:12practice, yada, yada. Joe, FP. What happened,
- 2:17guys? Quali. Impeding. We got crashes. There's
- 2:20penalties. Impeding is a common theme at Monaco.
- 2:26It was like the most common theme. Whether it's
- 2:28practice, quali, or the GP, one could argue like
- 2:31a certain team that has four cars on the grid.
- 2:33I mean only two cars on the grid. i will say
- 2:37and i want to do want to talk to that because
- 2:39that's i was thinking about it and we didn't
- 2:41we actually didn't see it happen this this weekend
- 2:43which is nice but still thought i would mention
- 2:45something just in case i want to go off on a
- 2:48tangent but yeah lots of impeding and everyone
- 2:51complaining about it a couple of penalties for
- 2:54it charles actually crashed into stroll because
- 2:56stroll cut into him i just didn't think he He
- 3:00probably didn't think he was on a fast lap or
- 3:01didn't seem common or something. I don't know,
- 3:03but he got a grid place penalty for it. Hamilton
- 3:07hit the swimming poorly hard one flying up at
- 3:10one point. Hadjar had clipped the wall, completely
- 3:16lost his back left tire, brought out the red
- 3:18flag. Oscar crashed at turn one during free practice.
- 3:25It was a very clean crash. Nothing broke, it
- 3:28seemed like. It just kind of went into the barriers
- 3:30a little bit. And then Behrman with a 10 -second
- 3:34grid place penalty for speeding under red flag.
- 3:38Brutal. Or overtaking under red flag. Overtaking,
- 3:40yeah. Basics, obviously. Oh, yeah, and then Lewis
- 3:45crashing an FP3 as well. That happened. Yep.
- 3:49Yeah, I heard about the 10 -place grid penalty
- 3:53for Oliver. I was like, it's over. Yeah. It's
- 3:57like, we're done. It's so over. It's so over.
- 3:59I was like, so that's his race. Yeah, at least
- 4:01you have a little bit more to look forward to.
- 4:03I mean, at least Ocon was having a good day.
- 4:05He did. Good weekend, actually. Good weekend.
- 4:07Ocon is actually really good at Monaco. And he's
- 4:10starting to get more consistent. I beg your unbelievable
- 4:12pardon. He is. He has a podium. Last year, Ocon.
- 4:18was not good at Monaco. Okay, fair. He had a
- 4:21bad race. What's your point? He had a lot of
- 4:23bad races last year. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm
- 4:27sorry. I'm sorry. I just disagree. I'm just saying,
- 4:31look through his statistics. He's very typically
- 4:34in the points. He tends to race well. He tends
- 4:37to out -drive his car in Monaco. Yeah, it helps
- 4:39when he has... teammate that's not as competitive
- 4:41as him. I guess Behrman's competitive, it's just
- 4:43not as fast as him at the moment. He said that
- 4:46when his last teammate was Pierre Gasly. You're
- 4:49just going to let him slander your driver like
- 4:51that? I'm saying Pierre Gasly was competitive.
- 4:53Behrman isn't as competitive as Pierre Gasly
- 4:55right now. I didn't mean Behrman to catch strays
- 4:58because I like Behrman more than I like him.
- 5:00I think I should just stop talking. Sometimes
- 5:02you've got to put the shovel down. Honestly,
- 5:07I just want to stop digging. Qualify. Should
- 5:10we just get it out of the way? What happened
- 5:11to Mercedes this weekend? I mean, Russell's car
- 5:13just broke, and Antonelli just wasn't there,
- 5:17unfortunately. Well, there was moments, at least
- 5:22in the GP, not to dip into that a little bit,
- 5:24but there was moments where Mercedes looked okay,
- 5:26and it was mostly after he blew the corner past
- 5:29Alba. Yeah. And then he looked okay after that.
- 5:32But, like, it's not like the car looked that
- 5:34bad. It just couldn't. I don't know. I don't
- 5:38know. It definitely couldn't handle the dirty
- 5:40air in the race until he got past Albon, but
- 5:44I don't know. Bad weekend. I heard people talking
- 5:48about the fact that Mercedes brought an upgrade
- 5:50package, not to Monaco, but to... I've been blanking
- 5:53on what came before that. Imola? Imola, yeah.
- 5:57They brought an upgrade package to Imola, and
- 5:58it just hasn't been working. Yep. So that could
- 6:02be a large portion of it, too. They tried to
- 6:04upgrade their car, and they accidentally nerfed
- 6:06it. Well, and Monaco's going to exemplify anything
- 6:12that's not working. Exactly. So that's not a
- 6:16good look for Mercedes heading into a quicker
- 6:19track, you know, with some high -speed corners.
- 6:22But we'll see. Anyway. Anyway. Yeah, I mean,
- 6:26I don't have anything to say at all, really,
- 6:28about FP or quality, even though that's kind
- 6:31of the main thing at Monaco. But, I mean, this
- 6:33whole weekend in general, kind of disappointing.
- 6:36You hear the drivers talk about it after the
- 6:38race, too, just how kind of disappointed they
- 6:42are in the racing. And, of course, George is
- 6:45going to spout off because he had a bad weekend
- 6:48all around. But maybe with the smaller cars.
- 6:55Actually, let's hold talking because I do have
- 6:58something I want to bring up later that we can
- 6:59really dive into it. Let's get into the Grand
- 7:04Prix. Starting and finishing, I did make just
- 7:07a little color coding a little bit just to show
- 7:10the movement in the top 10. Only movement is
- 7:14Alonzo's Gone. from top 10. Hajar did lose a
- 7:18place. Most unlucky driver of the season. Yeah,
- 7:19exactly. At this point, for sure. Hajar did lose
- 7:22a place to Hamilton. But besides that, signs
- 7:26promoted into the top 10 and everyone else is
- 7:28the same. Really no other movement. And I think
- 7:32Hajar was overtaken off of a pit stop and not
- 7:35on track. Yeah. I mean... I mean, let's just
- 7:41start it off with McClare and Norris getting
- 7:43P1, PS3, P3. McClare trying to wiggle his way
- 7:47in there, just couldn't get enough of it. But
- 7:50interesting that Norris getting P1 because now
- 7:54that pulls him within how many of the standings?
- 7:56I was just about to pull it up. It's only – it's
- 7:59not that many. No, definitely not that many.
- 8:01So it kind of makes WGC a little bit more interesting.
- 8:04I think you're right. It is three points. I thought
- 8:07it was three points. Max is 22 points away from
- 8:12Norris, which is still... The McLarens could
- 8:15crash into each other. Should we also take a
- 8:17look at what Constructors looks like right now?
- 8:19Yeah, I can. Constructors, which is going to
- 8:22be pretty similar, I would say... mclaren's obviously
- 8:27going to be still dominating yeah 319 for mclaren
- 8:30very whoa this is this is good very very close
- 8:34to second third and fourth you know all within
- 8:37four all within five points of each other yep
- 8:42uh mercedes at 147 red bull at 143 and ferrari
- 8:46at 142 yep all incredibly close so i think We're
- 8:51still like, what, nine races in? Still more than
- 8:55half of the season to go. McLaren's probably
- 8:58got first locked up, but the fight for second...
- 9:00I might go the rest of the season. Granted, I
- 9:04think Leclerc is just... I want to talk about
- 9:06McLaren, but just really quick. Leclerc is a
- 9:07monster on this track. It's his home track. He
- 9:09really showed it. This is the first time I really
- 9:11felt like the Ferrari was in a league of its
- 9:14own, almost. And the fact that... Norris got
- 9:18that fastest lap was just because he didn't do
- 9:21anything wrong. He just pushed to the limit.
- 9:23It was the faster car. I think Leclerc was the
- 9:27fastest driver, however, just plain and simple.
- 9:29I'm hoping if Ferrari can keep that momentum
- 9:34going, it should be a pretty fun race between
- 9:36them and Mercedes and Max. Let's just touch on
- 9:43Ferrari real quick since we've already started
- 9:44talking about him. Yeah, Leclerc obviously winning
- 9:47here last year and just, yeah, I mean, almost
- 9:50pure domination throughout the weekend. Quali
- 9:52for sure looked incredibly fast. But you say
- 9:56here miserable race for Hamilton. Are you just
- 9:58talking about, like? His words, I think. Honestly,
- 10:02not a bad. I mean, good points for Hamilton.
- 10:06Obviously, you want to be higher up, right? But,
- 10:10like, he made positions, which is more than you
- 10:12can ask for from Monaco. What was the? Real quick.
- 10:17Hold on. Keep talking. I'm sorry. I didn't mean
- 10:19to cut you off. No, you're good. You're good.
- 10:20More than you can ask for Monaco. But I think
- 10:24it's just still not where he wants to be, obviously.
- 10:28And I think strategy, even though it wasn't bad
- 10:31for Ferrari, I think it probably could have been
- 10:33better in some areas. He did end the race a good
- 10:35almost minute away from the top three. When did
- 10:40Hamilton make his second pit stop? Hamilton?
- 10:43I know that's literally putting you on the spot.
- 10:45I have no idea. I'm just curious because Max
- 10:48still finished another 30 seconds in front of
- 10:51Hamilton, but I'm just curious at what point
- 10:54this season if Ferrari starts gaining traction,
- 10:56at what point this season does Hamilton have
- 10:58to be beating Max Verstappen in a race? That's
- 11:01a great question. It's interesting. Hamilton,
- 11:05I think he had probably the freshest tires near
- 11:09the end of the race. We pitted fairly late, obviously
- 11:11not as late as Verstappen, but he was not catching
- 11:14that top feel. I remember I was watching with
- 11:18someone and he just kept questioning, why is
- 11:20he not catching them? He's falling behind further
- 11:23and further and he has no one in front of him.
- 11:25I think we figured it's like maybe he was going
- 11:26through a lot of back markers and that obviously
- 11:28slows him down, but also maybe he was trying
- 11:32to keep it safer and just didn't want to ruin
- 11:35the position he had. Or maybe he was facing some
- 11:39kind of weird issue. Who knows? It's still not
- 11:41completely known, but I think he did pit fairly
- 11:48late relative to everyone else, and he had fresher
- 11:50tires. It just didn't really use them near the
- 11:52end. Something to look out for, especially heading
- 11:56into Barcelona, right? That's where we're going
- 11:59next? Yeah, definitely. Yeah, Spain, yeah. Definitely
- 12:03something to look out for. Leclerc, though, I
- 12:04think, like I said, I think he was probably the
- 12:07fastest driver, and it's good to see that, obviously,
- 12:10he was very close to winning his home Grand Prix
- 12:12two times in a row. He proved that last year
- 12:15was not a fluke. He deserved it, and that the
- 12:17years beforehand were just a weird curse, and
- 12:19now it's broken, which is nice. Thank God. Honestly,
- 12:22I wouldn't have been disappointed had he won.
- 12:24Oh, me either. I wouldn't have been either. I'm
- 12:27still happy that Verstappen got it. I was not
- 12:29expecting him up there just because of the Ferrari's
- 12:32pace. I didn't expect him to just have that dominance
- 12:34at his home. But we've seen that before. We've
- 12:39seen him qualify really well at Monaco even before
- 12:41last year and just get caught out by something
- 12:43bad happening. Should have known. I think Ferrari's
- 12:47strategy, I know you were kind of banking on
- 12:48that, messing with them. That was my entire...
- 12:50I think Ferrari's strategy is getting better
- 12:53over the years. Hit or miss. We've seen some
- 12:58pretty bad strategies. Where did you see Ferraris
- 12:59and Constructors? They are fourth still, but
- 13:02they're only a point away from Red Bull. We still
- 13:06could get our predictions of McLaren, Ferrari
- 13:101 -2 and Constructors. That would actually blow
- 13:13my mind because we were pretty much writing Ferrari
- 13:16off as not. You're going to sniff P2. Talking
- 13:20about Mercedes might actually take it, but the
- 13:23Max Bowls, as we call them, we're going to pretty
- 13:25much run away with P2 at some point, and that
- 13:27just hasn't happened yet. Even last week we were
- 13:30spouting off about that. Just spouting off. You
- 13:33know what's funny? I ran into this guy in the
- 13:37Target parking lot. Sorry. No, you're good. And
- 13:42he had an ATSV. Sorry, a Cadillac ATSV. And I
- 13:44was like, oh, whoa, an ATSV. You usually don't
- 13:46see ATSV. Okay, he had a Red Bull hat. We started
- 13:49talking. Tell him about the podcast. I was like,
- 13:51to be fair, we kind of dog on Red Bull, but he's
- 13:54like, oh, man, oh, I don't think I could listen
- 13:56to that. I was like, dang it. Here I am trying
- 13:59to sell our podcast to people and then tell them
- 14:03why not to listen to it. I think it's more reason
- 14:06to listen to it. I almost like to have a Red
- 14:12Bull fan on the pod. I would love that. A true
- 14:14Red Bull fan on the pod would be outstanding.
- 14:18Really fun banter too. Some interesting banter.
- 14:21Especially with people like me. Notable Red Bull
- 14:25hater. Can we safely watch an F1 race in person
- 14:29together? Are you guys safe together to watch
- 14:32a race in the same room together? I don't know.
- 14:35Most of our views are pretty aligned, I would
- 14:37say. I would say maybe one or two I don't agree
- 14:42with. You and me might have some problems. Why?
- 14:45Alpine's in the league of their own in a bad
- 14:49way. We're just like, you doing good over there?
- 14:53You've been real quiet. No. Let's talk about
- 14:56Red Bull first. Let's do it. Scapegoat. Verstappen.
- 15:01Max Verstappen. Actually, not that bad of a strategy,
- 15:07to be honest with you. No, not at all. I don't
- 15:09hate it. I mean, you're playing, you know, playing
- 15:12essentially for that flag. Yeah. To try to just
- 15:15kind of get the default. I mean, it was his only
- 15:18strategy. There was nothing else he could do.
- 15:20I mean, it's still very possible. You can see
- 15:22that flag. Colapinto was still racing, so. That's
- 15:26true. This guy. Oh, my God. We might have problems
- 15:31at some point. At some point. I think we're okay
- 15:34right now. We might have to throw hands. People
- 15:36keep flapping gums. Yeah, so Mags, not bad strategy.
- 15:40Like you said, kind of the only thing he could
- 15:42do. Yuki, arguably bad. Kicking rocks here. Bad
- 15:47start to his race. Somebody messed him up a little
- 15:50bit. But could never really rebound, in my opinion.
- 15:54Just, nah. couldn't couldn't find any pace i
- 15:57mean stuck in that huge drs train and i think
- 16:00he also got caught out by just a bad pit stop
- 16:02strategy and so he just ended up further back
- 16:05just because he was pretty close to 10th that's
- 16:07at one point wasn't he i think so something he
- 16:10ended up in 17th so he's in 13th at the moment
- 16:13this is lap 59 at the moment that's i mean yeah
- 16:16and there's gasly doing his thing i wonder if
- 16:19he might not have had a pit stop yet then yeah
- 16:22But anyway, Yuki, Red Bull, yep, happy to get
- 16:26out of Monaco probably and move on. Yep. So let's
- 16:29see. Can I just actually really quick? Okay.
- 16:35No, go for it. I'm just kidding. Just want to
- 16:37touch on McLaren really quick. I actually thought
- 16:39it was a pretty shaky kind of race for both of
- 16:42them. Lando had a really bad start and was very
- 16:46lucky to keep his place. He locked up really
- 16:48hard. He had a fairly flawless race after that.
- 16:52It's not hard to when you're in first for most
- 16:54of the time, but very shaky start. Being fairly
- 16:59flawless race, your own words, and it still felt.
- 17:02shaky is a good way to put it. Flawless, only
- 17:06in that there was nothing you could... Unless
- 17:09you just run it into a wall. And, like, I mean,
- 17:12Leclerc was the fastest car, so no one's going
- 17:14to really catch you, per se, unless you're getting
- 17:16pushed back. But he defended off Leclerc pretty
- 17:20well. And then Piastri, I mean, there were so
- 17:23many clips of him, like... drifting through turn
- 17:26one and hitting the wall a little bit. He was...
- 17:28He nicked the wall that one time. Oscar said
- 17:31himself that he felt like this was his worst
- 17:34weekend in Monaco ever. He's like, I don't think
- 17:36I've ever struggled this much in Monaco, and
- 17:38that's on me. And he podiumed. While struggling.
- 17:41My worst weekend. Gosh, that's so terrible. I
- 17:44think it was nice seeing him though because obviously
- 17:48if you're in that... But also, if you're, like,
- 17:52in a McLaren or in a car that that's good and
- 17:53you're getting third, sometimes you're still
- 17:55disappointed, right? Because you could have done
- 17:56better. He was, like, all things considered,
- 17:59it was a good weekend. Yeah, right. And he wasn't,
- 18:01like, he was being very humble about it. So,
- 18:05yeah. Like that guy. That guy. Another guy that
- 18:10we're liking. Racing Bulls. Hajar. Yeah. Hajar.
- 18:14Dude's a beast. You were just saying before we
- 18:16started, he's... really good yeah he's really
- 18:19good i i remember hearing about him like halfway
- 18:22through the season last season like there was
- 18:24a lot of rumbles about this new up -and -comer
- 18:26isaac hadjar and how you know he's gonna be the
- 18:29one to take danny rick seat and stuff like that
- 18:30and and i'm just like whatever He's just some
- 18:34schmuck who's going to come in and, and Nick
- 18:37DeVries his way to victory, except he'll be gone
- 18:40in a year. Like, I don't care about Isaac. And
- 18:43then I watched him in the first race and he crashes.
- 18:47And I'm like, I'm like, see, this guy is not
- 18:50that great. And then I see him like crying and
- 18:52I'm like, okay, well maybe he's not a terrible
- 18:53guy. And then the rest of the season, it's just
- 18:56been constant. Like he's, he's said, I have something
- 18:59to prove and I'm going to prove it. So. I was
- 19:02going to make a quick argument for DeVries for
- 19:04some reason. And then I forgot what series he's
- 19:08racing in. He's in E right now. He's been all
- 19:11over the place. I think he's struggling in E,
- 19:14isn't he? In Monaco, he actually had a really
- 19:17good race. I was just about to say, he actually
- 19:19had a good day. Okay, we'll touch on the E stuff
- 19:22when we talk about the car, which is after we're
- 19:25done with this, probably. The teams, right? Oh,
- 19:27yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, quick thoughts from the
- 19:29boys. Yes. Okay, yeah. I got you. Yeah, no, I
- 19:33see that. And I even read that beforehand. No
- 19:35problem. Are we still talking about racing bulls?
- 19:38Did you have another point? No, I mean, it's
- 19:40great to see Lawson getting his first points,
- 19:42too, like you stated here. I did not think it
- 19:45was actually going to happen for a minute. I'm
- 19:47sure he was. But he really played the team game.
- 19:50He did. I'm sure he was. Which is annoying. We'll
- 19:53touch on that. He qualified well, and I'm sure
- 19:55he was like, thank God. I'm almost not quite
- 19:58guaranteed, but best chance you can get for points
- 20:01at that point. And then Hadjar. We just got to
- 20:05keep watching him. I want to just bring this
- 20:06up really quick. I don't think we should spend
- 20:08a ton of time on it. Hadjar. I mean, both Racing
- 20:12Bulls beat out Yuki this weekend. Do we see a
- 20:16world in which Red Bull swaps Hajar in for Yuki
- 20:19this year? No. I have a follow -up question for
- 20:27you. There's going to be a team this season that
- 20:30swaps for a third driver in a seat. You don't
- 20:34think it's going to be Racing Bulls or Red Bull?
- 20:36It's them or Alpine. Okay. I mean, it could be
- 20:39Red Bull, but I think Isaac going into a Red
- 20:45Bull seat, it's more likely that Colapinto would
- 20:48be out in some, I can't remember the other schmuck
- 20:50that they might put in there. John Allen? No,
- 20:53it was that one guy's name I couldn't say. I
- 20:56thought it was something Allen. It's their reserve
- 20:58driver. Yep. So I'm inclined to agree with you
- 21:02both. I think hopefully at this point, Red Bull's
- 21:05like, it's not a driver issue. It's a car issue.
- 21:08Any person you put in this car is going to suffer
- 21:10to begin with. So just give Yuki as much time
- 21:12as he needs. And at some point, you need continuity.
- 21:14Yeah. You know, at some point. So my next question
- 21:17is, Hajar, next year, if Yuki cannot. perform
- 21:21maybe I don't think he starts so I know I know
- 21:25like Max has actually come out and has basically
- 21:28like vocally said like in interviews and whatnot
- 21:32saying yeah the problem isn't the other driver
- 21:37the problem is the car we need to fix the car
- 21:40and max has been pretty strict especially this
- 21:42season on red bull basically saying quit swapping
- 21:45the drivers you're not helping and i don't like
- 21:48the fact that i keep on having new teammates
- 21:50i don't like the fact that i've had four teammates
- 21:53in the last six months stop it And so maybe it
- 21:58shouldn't be so good. And so that's a good point.
- 22:01Easy. And so Red Bull is like, this is your fault.
- 22:03Red Bull is like, oh, if Max says it, we have
- 22:06to do it. So I think we'll see Yuki stick around
- 22:09because Red Bull's biggest concern is keeping
- 22:12Max happy. And Max is basically like, just leave
- 22:15Yuki. I want to hear your point, but I want to
- 22:18touch on something you just said. Yeah. Oh, you
- 22:22want to hear my point now? I thought you were
- 22:24going to touch on what he said right now. Oh,
- 22:25my bad. Dead airspace. No. Darn, what was I going
- 22:31to say? Oh, I just think for the start 26, right?
- 22:36I think you would want a veteran driver in the
- 22:38seat, whether that's Yuki or who else would there
- 22:40be? I mean, it's got to be Yuki, right? So that's
- 22:44who I'd like to see, if I'm a Red Bull fan, start
- 22:46in 2026, no matter what happens the rest of the
- 22:49season, unless dude can't finish in points. more
- 22:53than 50 % of the race is left, that would be
- 22:56a concern. Then at that point, now maybe I'd
- 22:59take a chance on Isaac if that's who does better,
- 23:02or does Lawson redeem himself now? I don't think
- 23:04so. Hadjar definitely has more pace. But if Lawson's
- 23:08going to play the team game and still play the
- 23:10political part of it, he can slot his name back
- 23:12in there. Why not? I don't think Red Bull's necessarily
- 23:16a team to like going... back to somebody they've
- 23:18already kicked out, Pierre Gasly. Never got another
- 23:21chance. Alex Albon. But Alex Albon never got
- 23:24another chance. Carlos Sainz. Actually, Carlos
- 23:27never went to Red Bull. He just never had the
- 23:29chance to begin with. That's what we wanted to
- 23:31see. I would love to see that. No, I'm just kidding.
- 23:37I was like, where is he going? No, nowhere. Yeah,
- 23:40anyway, what was your point that you were going
- 23:41to play off of? I don't know if this is more
- 23:43of a question. I just want to get reactions.
- 23:46Max is like, I don't want to race F1 anymore.
- 23:48I'm going to go do something else. I'm going
- 23:50to be a dad maybe for a year, and then I'm going
- 23:51to go race something else. Get a discipline.
- 23:54Does Red Bull just crumble? Yeah, 100%. Yeah.
- 23:57Yep. I mean, how interesting is that? Because
- 23:59you mentioned, like, oh, Max said this, so we
- 24:02should appease to him. How, honestly, how much
- 24:05is them as a whole team is, like, leaning on
- 24:07Max? Because, obviously, they're getting all
- 24:09of his points. They're getting all of their points
- 24:11from him. Yep. So, like, how much of, like, an
- 24:14anchor is he to the team right now? 70 % or better.
- 24:17Yeah. I mean, isn't that, like, it's not a thought
- 24:19that I think I've had where it's like, oh, my
- 24:20God, Max leaves. This is the first year that
- 24:23I thought Max leaves. Red Bull's not a competing
- 24:26team anymore. I'm trying to think of realistic
- 24:28drivers they could go try and buy, right? Like
- 24:31realistically, drivers that would leave their
- 24:33current team to go to a Red Bull car that's not
- 24:35necessarily awesome right now. I'm trying to
- 24:37think of realistic drivers. If you say Mick Schuvach,
- 24:39I'm going to lose my mind. I have something crazier
- 24:41to say. Okay, but just like drivers that they
- 24:44could buy off their current teams in a way or
- 24:46make a deal. Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz. Is that
- 24:50worth it to them? I don't think so. Fernando
- 24:52Alonso. They should not be hedging bets and going
- 24:56off someone new. They need to go off someone
- 24:58who knows how to drive the car at least a little
- 25:00bit. So they bring back Checo. Dude, Checo's
- 25:03coming back to F1. I'm saying, I'm telling you,
- 25:09Checo will be back in an F1 car. Look at Yuki
- 25:12right now. Max is like, I don't want to race
- 25:14in F1 after this weekend for some reason. They're
- 25:16like, we should probably. He'll probably get
- 25:18Jacko back to finish the season. Oh, 100%. Okay,
- 25:20that? In that case? That's kind of, like, my
- 25:23thought, you know? Because who else would it
- 25:25be? Right, exactly. I just need to get, since
- 25:28we brought this up, and you brought up who could
- 25:30be in it, and it's a veteran, there's been a
- 25:32bunch of, like, people who are trying to, like,
- 25:34draw straws right now and be like, oh, my gosh,
- 25:36it's going to happen. There's been a bunch of,
- 25:37like, advertisements and stuff of Daniel Ricciardo
- 25:40being, like, and it's, like, something like a,
- 25:44like, pedal to the metal. It's just something
- 25:46generic. it's just something generic for F1 and
- 25:50so people are like is this maybe the hint that
- 25:53he's coming back Cadillac Cadillac he's going
- 25:57to Cadillac and I'm just like no I was on that
- 25:59train originally that it could be him and Checo
- 26:02at Cadillac but I still believe Trico. I think
- 26:06Danny Rick we'd see in an Indy car before we
- 26:08would see in an F1 car again. I think he'd do
- 26:11outstanding potentially in an Indy car, but you
- 26:14never know. Don't even know if he has any interest
- 26:16in it. But that was my tension. No. No. That
- 26:23was my tension. I hate that I'm seeing it. I'm
- 26:25just like, guys, just let the guy rest. I hope
- 26:27he's getting paid. Me too. And paid well. I hope
- 26:31he just becomes a farmer. Yeah. He looks like
- 26:34a farmer. I don't know. So, Williams next? I
- 26:38mean, yeah. Yeah, sure. Yeah, why not? I think
- 26:40they're next, all right? I mean. Yes. Well, actually,
- 26:45technically, Haas is next. Oh, that's true. Haas
- 26:48is next. Ocon finishing seven. Ocon finishing
- 26:50seven. Puts Haas next. Yeah. Big W for me. We
- 26:55scored more points than Williams this weekend.
- 26:57You did, yeah. By one point. So, boy, we're really
- 27:01closing that 30 -point gap. Got to start somewhere.
- 27:05Got to start somewhere. We're happy with it.
- 27:07And considering that Ollie had a really tough
- 27:09weekend, we'll take a... We'll take a good finish
- 27:13from Esteban. He, as I established earlier, is
- 27:16pretty good on this track. He is pretty good
- 27:19on this track. I'm pretty satisfied. I don't
- 27:21expect to see the same performance from him next
- 27:23weekend. Oh, no. No, he got three more points.
- 27:26He was not. I thought, because if he would have
- 27:28left an eighth, he was an eighth for a while,
- 27:33and so he was only going to get four, but he
- 27:34got six points, so he got three more points than
- 27:36Williams did. So, 27 -point lead. Yeah, not bad.
- 27:42Not bad at all. So, yeah, all in all happy. Oliver,
- 27:46it's just a bad weekend. What will you do? It's
- 27:49Monaco. It's Monaco. It's Monaco. He's a rookie
- 27:52in Monaco. What do you expect? It's a Catalina
- 27:54wine mixer. Joe. Yeah? Williams. Oh, Williams.
- 27:59Yeah, a resident Williams. Now it's your turn.
- 28:01A resident Williams fan. Yeah, I'm definitely
- 28:03saying Williams like that. Probably Williams.
- 28:05Probably some of the most exciting part of the
- 28:07race is just, like, the strategy. Like, I never
- 28:09thought I would ever see, and this is the track
- 28:12to do it, I never thought I would see someone
- 28:13hold back cars, like, within 10 laps to the point
- 28:18of an entire pit stop. Like, that's crazy how
- 28:22slow they were going. I'll touch on that in quick
- 28:25thoughts from the boys. Oh, yeah. We have to
- 28:27talk. but like that's like that was like the
- 28:29strategy right and it was and it was I think
- 28:34I liked seeing it this one time. We're going
- 28:37to talk about this. I liked seeing it this one
- 28:39time. I don't think I'd like seeing that on a
- 28:41regular basis. We'll talk about it. You're going
- 28:44to see it on a regular basis. It was a good strategy,
- 28:46them getting their pit stops out of the way by
- 28:48building that gap. It was smart of them to do.
- 28:52This is the point I wanted to touch on earlier
- 28:53about the Racing Bulls and Max Bulls. I almost
- 28:57said Max Bulls because it's always Max Bulls
- 28:58on here. Racing Bulls and Red Bull and then Williams
- 29:01and Mercedes, they were blocking. mercedes so
- 29:03that's like their sister team right i mean mercedes
- 29:07had a really bad week on yeah but uh you mentioned
- 29:10racing bulls i forgot to mention i just funny
- 29:13to me because the two stops hadjar getting that
- 29:17pitting within five laps of his first stop blew
- 29:20my mind oh yeah yeah but i was like yeah that
- 29:23was honestly the best yeah that was the best
- 29:25thing to do i think yeah Just get your pin in
- 29:28as early as possible. Okay, yeah, yeah. No, we'll
- 29:30get into it later. Okay, let's just get through
- 29:32this here. Mercedes. Oh, God. Oh, yeah, Alpine's
- 29:37in there. Oh, yeah, thereafter. What am I talking
- 29:39about? I'm moving them up. Mercedes. Georgie
- 29:42finishing P11. Antonelli P18. So you wanted to
- 29:47mention something on the Gabriel, Bortoletto,
- 29:50and Antonelli thing? Oh, yeah. So, yeah, we were
- 29:54going to bring up the fact that, like, You guys
- 29:56had brought up, like, Kimi going on the inside
- 30:01and Bortoletto had made a comment saying he,
- 30:03like, pushed you out or pushed him out or whatever.
- 30:05And you guys were, like, scoffing at that earlier
- 30:07or something. Oh, scoff. Yes. And I was like,
- 30:10that was such a dumb move from Kimi. Like, full
- 30:15stop, the way that Kimi dive -bombed. He did
- 30:17dive -bomb that game. We've played Monaco on
- 30:19the game, right? When do you ever overtake in
- 30:22that corner ever? And my argument to it is the
- 30:26last time a driver tried to overtake in that
- 30:28corner was Pierre and Esteban. And how did that
- 30:31turn out? I mean. That was a tussle. That was
- 30:36different. Okay. Okay. Hear me out. I think it
- 30:40was an amazing move. The first move. I think
- 30:42Bortoletto should have pulled away. Because I
- 30:46think it was his corner. Kimmy's corner. At a
- 30:49point. Boy, it was close, though. I don't know.
- 30:53Bortoletto made a great move to get that position.
- 30:55An amazing move. What did Kimi do wrong? It was
- 30:57hard racing, but it was racing, right? What did
- 31:00Kimi do wrong? The move that Kimi made is a 50
- 31:04-50 crapshoot because one of two things happens.
- 31:06Either Kimi goes in and makes the corner because
- 31:10he dive bombs and forces Bortoletto to either
- 31:15basically stop because... They're at the exact
- 31:18same corner at the exact same time in a super
- 31:21slow corner, and he can't slow down and let...
- 31:24Let them move in together. Basically, Bartoletto
- 31:26would have had to stop or continue trying to
- 31:29go around, which is what he did, but couldn't
- 31:31make the full corner and ran into the wall. Funny
- 31:36enough, you could literally see him choose to
- 31:38run into the wall. To me, anyway, because he
- 31:41was right there with him. And then it was like
- 31:42either he wrecks Kimmy or he hits the wall. And
- 31:45it feels like, to me, it looked like he chose
- 31:46to hit the wall. And he probably did because
- 31:49if he tried to turn anymore, he was going to
- 31:51put his wheel into the wall and break an axe.
- 31:53Meanwhile, Kimmy got lucky that he didn't lock
- 31:57up. Because the way he came in, he took that
- 31:59corner way too sharp. On the inside of an already
- 32:03incredibly tight line. Way too much speed. With
- 32:06a lot of speed. And the fact that he didn't lock
- 32:08up was a miracle. Because if he did lock up,
- 32:10he also was going into the wall. And then Gabby
- 32:12would have had nowhere to go. Because there's
- 32:14somebody who's literally parked perpendicular
- 32:16in front of him. And then the two would have
- 32:18either crashed into each other. Or Gabby would
- 32:20have had to go into the wall as well. It's a
- 32:22great aggressive move though. At Monaco where
- 32:25it's like. It's a super fun move, but it's a
- 32:28super dumb move, and it's super amateurish. I
- 32:33saw that move, and my first reaction when I saw
- 32:36it is, what the hell are you doing? I'm like,
- 32:39there's no way you think that this ever is a
- 32:41good idea. Either you ruin your race or you ruin
- 32:44somebody else's race. I'm like, I just don't
- 32:47like that. I don't like that play. I don't like
- 32:49that choice. Fair enough. I feel like it's just
- 32:51too risky. And is just a rookie mistake that
- 32:56happens to work out. It's one of those, if it's
- 32:59dumb and it works, is it really dumb? And I think,
- 33:01yes, it is. You don't have a bad take. I think
- 33:07in general, you're right. It was a very risky
- 33:09move. I don't think I would ever call it a mistake.
- 33:12I think I would call it very aggressive. I still
- 33:15think. But Bortoletto could have done things
- 33:18to help his own case. Yes, he would have had
- 33:21to stop a lot. I don't think he would have had
- 33:23to full stop, but he would have had to stop a
- 33:24lot and try to get behind Antonelli and probably
- 33:27lose another place or get hit from behind. That's
- 33:30fair. Which then begs the question, he should
- 33:32have been defending to begin with then and not
- 33:35just assume everyone was going to line up behind
- 33:37him. He left a gap. right there wasn't much of
- 33:41a gap though but Antonelli didn't hit him that's
- 33:44true that's true like you look at it though that
- 33:46was in part because Gabby is like like getting
- 33:49out of the way almost to make sure that he doesn't
- 33:51crash with him like yeah I think I need to I'm
- 33:55I hear your take for sure I need to take it back
- 33:57to the tape I think to see if like because now
- 34:00I'm kind of maybe thinking maybe Antonelli Maybe
- 34:03if he were to keep on the line, maybe he had
- 34:06to break late. Maybe he did break late, and he
- 34:08would have just ran into Bortoletto if he didn't
- 34:10take that spot. I shouldn't say I refuse to believe
- 34:15it. I don't think it was a mistake. I think it
- 34:17was a... It was intentional, and it was definitely
- 34:20an aggressive and a risky move because it could
- 34:22have resulted in a crash for both of them, but
- 34:25Gabby had to pull out and hit the wall. And the
- 34:27whole reason that Kimmy went for the move was
- 34:29because literally two corners earlier, Gabby
- 34:32did something similar, but Gabby took the move
- 34:34because Kimmy started braking early, and Gabby
- 34:36saw that and came around the outside, reacted
- 34:39to the braking, came around the outside, and
- 34:41dived him on the inside. And that was a situation
- 34:44where I'm like, okay, that makes sense because
- 34:45Gabby saw the very clear line open up. and saw
- 34:49the gap there and so it was a very clean and
- 34:51easy overtake they came nowhere close to bumping
- 34:54each other just Kimmy left the door open and
- 34:57at that point Kimmy started charging on Gabby
- 34:59really hard and dive bombed him on the inside
- 35:01and Gabby had to avoid Kimmy to not crash and
- 35:06then wound up putting himself in the wall anyways
- 35:07so I I just I just I don't know. I think that
- 35:17there was a gap that was left open, and then
- 35:19Kimmy took it, and it was really, it was like,
- 35:21was it still lap one at that point? It was lap
- 35:23one. Yeah, it was crazy. The field is incredibly
- 35:25bunched up. If you're going to make moves, then's
- 35:28the time, because after lap one, you're not going
- 35:32to be that close. It is a tough part to make
- 35:34that move. Everyone's so bunched up. Yeah, I'm
- 35:38going to go back to the tape. I'm going to go
- 35:39back to the tape before we end the pod, and I'll
- 35:41give my final verdict on it. But as of right
- 35:44now, I'm kind of team Antonelli a little bit.
- 35:46I think Bordalito probably could have played
- 35:48it differently. I mean, if you go, if there's
- 35:52a race, are you really racing drive? You don't
- 35:54go for the gap. You know what I'm saying? Okay.
- 35:55Call me, you know what I'm saying? Oh my gosh.
- 35:58Anyway, we can move on. All right. Yeah. Moving
- 36:00on. Moving on. Alpine, I guess. Colapinto finishing
- 36:06P13. Whatever. Cool. Cool. Cool. I don't know.
- 36:12At least he showed. Whatever, dude. We'll look
- 36:16forward to next week. I'm actually looking forward
- 36:18to next week for Alpine as a whole, as a team.
- 36:21I think both drivers actually have a good opportunity
- 36:23in Barcelona. I think Gasly for points, Colapinto
- 36:27could be flirting with P10, 11, 12. So I'm going
- 36:31to write in there this week, I think. Anyway,
- 36:35Alpine does better in a little bit quicker track
- 36:39than Monaco. Ah, Kicksauber, yeah. We just talked
- 36:48about Gabriel a little bit. Hulkenberg, whatever,
- 36:53had a chance. I don't even remember seeing Hulkenberg
- 36:55at all on the broadcast. They showed him one
- 36:57time, and he was threatening an overtake, and
- 37:01he did not, I don't think. Right. Because I think
- 37:02Gabriel had the only overtake. Stroll had an
- 37:05overtake. Stroll had an overtake, yeah. Okay,
- 37:07okay. Didn't he last year, too? Man, it's crazy.
- 37:12That's our champion. Was that the year before?
- 37:15I remember Stroll bouncing off the wall. Oh,
- 37:19yes. No, Sergio was with K -Mag. Right? Sergio
- 37:25and K -Mag? What's the K -Mag one I'm thinking
- 37:27of? Oh, you're talking about the crash? Yeah.
- 37:30Oh, yeah. That was Checo and K -Mag. And then
- 37:33they hit Nico. Yeah. Let's see. Aston. Yeah.
- 37:39Alonzo had a pretty good calm. We'll let Joe
- 37:43get to that in a minute. But just a tough year
- 37:46for Alonzo as a whole. Probably the unluckiest
- 37:49driver on the grid at this point. Oh, yeah. There
- 37:52was a couple times where I thought somebody else
- 37:54might be in the running, but no, he's absolutely
- 37:56just sad to see. This has been his worst start
- 38:01to an F1 season ever. Yep. So that feels really
- 38:07bad for him. Not for lack of skill. Yeah, no.
- 38:10I mean, it's just been a super rough car, super
- 38:13rough year. Joe, calm call -outs. Yeah, before
- 38:17I get through, just in case you guys have any,
- 38:19did you have any guys anywhere you want to touch
- 38:21on? No. No? Okay. On Aston? Just any at all.
- 38:25No, oh, on calm call -outs? Yeah. No, I have
- 38:27a feeling the one that I was going to have is...
- 38:29On here. Okay. Go for it. Okay. Yeah. I mean,
- 38:32if you want to say it, then go for it. Less for
- 38:34me to say. Okay. Um, FP one, uh, Hamilton hits
- 38:37the curb on, on the, uh, the swimming pool and
- 38:39kind of went flying. The commentator said, uh,
- 38:42called it Hamilton airways. So I thought that
- 38:44was pretty funny. Um, lap 18, Alonzo. was told
- 38:49to push, he responds by yelling, I can't push
- 38:53now! He screamed that. He screamed that. The
- 38:58commentators were acting like, oh, he's not happy
- 39:01about that. I can't push now! Lap 33, Max, I
- 39:06don't know if he was prompted, he just says,
- 39:08my shifts feel like Monaco Grand Prix 1972. That
- 39:11was great. Lap 51, Russell, this is right after
- 39:16he decided to cut the track in front of albon
- 39:18after um albon had been you know breaking a lot
- 39:21um he says i'll take the penalty which then oh
- 39:25we didn't even talk about that i guess we'll
- 39:26get to it in a second we'll get to it in a second
- 39:28but like that's a huge thing we should talk about
- 39:30because uh kimmy did it too but then he gave
- 39:33it back yep and then oh in lap with hamilton
- 39:36this was a this was an interesting one too i
- 39:38think i have i just want to pull up the exact
- 39:42quote that he said um so he was given a just
- 39:45a slight debrief of the of the race like you
- 39:48know uh his his engineer said it's a p5 we lost
- 39:50a lot of time in traffic the rest of you need
- 39:51to investigate pick up rubber please um and then
- 39:54hamilton said big thank you to the boys as i
- 39:57said for fixing the car um he got no response
- 40:00from that and he said it's not been the easiest
- 40:02of weekends but he lived to fight another day
- 40:03so yeah radio silence and then he follows up
- 40:07with Are you upset with me or something? No response
- 40:11to that either. That's so funny. Since then,
- 40:14the sewer came and said that he's not upset.
- 40:17Everything's fine. It's all good. It is weird,
- 40:21though. They've had some interesting moments.
- 40:24Hamilton's actually not fine right now. Things
- 40:26are bad. It's not one I've heard before. Are
- 40:30you mad at me? That's hilarious. Crazy. Did you?
- 40:37Oh, you did put the link in there. That's hilarious.
- 40:39I love when you do that. Yes. All right. Quick
- 40:41thoughts. Quick thoughts from the boys. If this
- 40:45takes up more of the news time, that is fine.
- 40:47That's fine. A lot of the news is kind of BS
- 40:49anyway, so I'm happy if we skip some of this.
- 40:52So where were your bullet points for quick thoughts?
- 40:54Okay. The biggest thing I want to talk about.
- 40:57I just first just like. Thanks for being here.
- 41:00Thank you guys for being here. You're welcome.
- 41:03The changes made to this Monaco Grand Prix, the
- 41:07changes made to this Monaco Grand Prix, yay or
- 41:09nay, what you liked, what you didn't like, and
- 41:12then how we fix, how you would fix Monaco Grand
- 41:16Prix going forward, and then how you think, because
- 41:19we don't have any say. Is it going to be fixed
- 41:23next year? What should they do? Just in general,
- 41:26Monaco Grand Prix, I think, has a problem, right?
- 41:29I don't think it was fixed this year. I think
- 41:30it just illuminated other problems. So I want
- 41:33to just hear your guys' take about what had happened
- 41:38during this race about these new issues, the
- 41:40two -stop strategy, people building gaps, holding
- 41:43people back, the penalties that were given out
- 41:47because of people not following it, and then
- 41:49your, in general, take about how we fix it. monaco
- 41:52and what you hope to see in the future for monaco
- 41:55you go first i've got you want me to go first
- 41:59yeah you go first um i don't know the whole the
- 42:02two lap thing uh made it uh more fun question
- 42:07mark like you know it just wasn't i don't know
- 42:10it was cool to see different strategies but kind
- 42:13of along the lines of what you just said a little
- 42:15bit ago i'm good on it the one time But I don't
- 42:18think I would get enjoyment out of the forced
- 42:21two -stop next year. Sure. It doesn't solve the
- 42:25overtaking issue. Nope. And I think with the
- 42:29smaller cars, that could be a factor. I shared
- 42:33that video with you guys of the Formula E car.
- 42:35That pass was absolutely ridiculous. I think
- 42:45the smaller car will make a difference, but I
- 42:46think it'll make Monaco as a race extremely dangerous.
- 42:50And that's what I'm concerned about is trying
- 42:53to increase the overtaking at Monaco. Yes, for
- 42:55sure we want to see that. But man, it makes it
- 42:59a lot more dangerous for the drivers, I think,
- 43:02in my opinion. It's just so tight. But I've seen
- 43:05some things where people are saying along the
- 43:07ocean there's room. You can widen it there and
- 43:09make kind of like a DRS zone or a spot where,
- 43:12you know, a good passing opportunity. And you
- 43:15can see, you know, the reconstruction. It's like,
- 43:17meh, yeah. It would be something that I'd rather
- 43:22have that than do more stops, you know. George
- 43:25Russell actually said something, and I'll try
- 43:27to look that up while you say your thing. about
- 43:31a way that they could do it because of the whole
- 43:34impeding traffic thing. That's now a strategy
- 43:38as well, is trying to prevent other people. It's
- 43:42the fastest to go the slowest, you know what
- 43:44I mean, as a team. That was Williams' entire
- 43:48strategy. And I hate that. But the way it's set
- 43:51up, that's what you've got to do. And I don't
- 43:55like that. Formula One is the premier. Motorsport,
- 43:59arguably in the world, the most premier motorsport
- 44:01in the world. Why are we trying to go slow? You
- 44:05know what I mean? But again, I'm just contradicting
- 44:07myself, right? Because again, if we go faster,
- 44:10smaller cars, oh my gosh, what are we going to,
- 44:12what kind of garbage are we going to end up seeing
- 44:14with possible deaths? You know, now, Monica,
- 44:18I don't know. Yep. In a nutshell. I think one
- 44:22thing I'll take away from that is... You're crazy.
- 44:26Is that like, I think, I... I'm hoping the cars
- 44:30will help. I don't think they're going to make
- 44:31that much of a difference. They look drastically
- 44:34smaller. In terms of width, they seem only a
- 44:40tiny bit smaller, but length, they're cutting
- 44:42out a lot. That should definitely help a bit.
- 44:45I don't think it's going to fix the issue. I
- 44:47think it's the track that needs to be fixed.
- 44:49I think that's my major take. I can't remember
- 44:53the names of them. Are you along the fans of...
- 44:58Messing with the tunnel the exit of the tunnel.
- 45:00I think they should yeah get rid of that chicane
- 45:01I think that they should get rid of that chicane
- 45:03and make it another DRS zone and widen it if
- 45:06they can I guess They'd have to build out into
- 45:11the water. I think you could there. I think that
- 45:15that would be... Because I'm an engineer. Yeah.
- 45:18I think they also need enough room between the
- 45:22water and the track, so there's that too. Marshalls
- 45:26and also drowning. Whatever. Again, more death,
- 45:29speed, water, death. Sorry. Another thought I
- 45:34had is right now, Monaco is the one track that's
- 45:37like... This is the track where, like, unfortunately,
- 45:41actually, I'm about to contradict myself. Perfect.
- 45:45Quali is, like, incredibly important, right?
- 45:47Like, that is, like, the main part of Monaco,
- 45:50unfortunately. You qualify well, you're going
- 45:51to do well. Oh, that's what it was. Yeah. That's
- 45:54what George Russell said. Yeah, he said two qualifying
- 45:55sessions and just take points from that. Yeah.
- 45:57But I hate that. I hate it, too. But, like, at
- 46:00the same time, that's what we're watching already.
- 46:02That's what we're doing, yeah. Um, so, but like
- 46:05in the race itself, it becomes like, it's not
- 46:08a test of speed. It's a test of strategy and
- 46:11technicality. If you can ace those two things,
- 46:14you're going to, you're going to keep your qualifying
- 46:15position, which is like, that's boring for viewing
- 46:18experience. Yes. And no, arguably because strategy
- 46:21is awesome to have a crazy strategy and you have
- 46:24to beat another team strategy. Totally love it
- 46:26on every other track, but Monaco. Cause I don't
- 46:29like the strategy being slowed down. Yeah. I
- 46:33know you've actually pitched some of this stuff
- 46:35to me, so I'd love for you to bring it. You saw
- 46:37it with Lawson. He did it perfectly, though.
- 46:40Yeah. So first off, I didn't like this Monaco
- 46:44Grand Prix because I agree with you. We should
- 46:47not be slowing. The strategy should not be to
- 46:49slow everyone down. That is the antithesis of
- 46:52racing. I feel like if you were to go back in
- 46:55time and tell Senna that we're winning races
- 46:57by slowing down, he would slap you across the
- 46:59face and say, what's wrong with you? He'd say,
- 47:01that's not driving. That's not race. driving
- 47:03and that's just like you haven't been slapped
- 47:06in the face by someone uh you have never mind
- 47:09long story i bet you so we go way back that makes
- 47:12sense we go way back uh so yeah i think that
- 47:14that's a big problem i think we could still do
- 47:17the two -stop strategy we need to do something
- 47:18about stopping teams from from yeah stopping
- 47:22teams from impeding and slowing down the track
- 47:25I don't know how to do that. I don't know how
- 47:26plausible that is. So that's a big problem. Because
- 47:29if you just start throwing out penalties, now
- 47:31you're leaving it up to the stewards. Exactly.
- 47:33Nobody wants that. Nobody wants that. Then we're
- 47:35looking at Abu Dhabi 2021. Oh, the whore. So
- 47:39yeah, we don't want to do that. So I feel like
- 47:42we can't do too much renovating in Monaco because
- 47:46Monaco doesn't really want to do it. It's just...
- 47:50makes things harder for the people that live
- 47:51there as well. There's a lot of variables that
- 47:54go wrong with it. I know one thing that I did
- 47:57see, which I pitched to you the other day, is
- 48:00I saw a video online, my roommate sent it to
- 48:02me, about driving Monaco but in reverse. What
- 48:07if we drive Monaco in reverse? You drive Monaco
- 48:09in reverse, and now a lot of these slow speed
- 48:11corners become faster speed corners. Things like
- 48:14the tunnel is now a 180... mile per hour straight
- 48:19with a runoff at the end because if you think
- 48:22about that that corner there's a runoff on the
- 48:24left side there for no reason but if it's a straight
- 48:27now it's a runoff that if you are going to lock
- 48:29up or miss your corner you can just go into the
- 48:31runoff and then you can take that corner which
- 48:34is a high high breaking corner which is big for
- 48:37overtaking the moments because now you can effectively
- 48:40lunge a corner and overtake and uh now instead
- 48:43of the uphill that we have in corner or in turn
- 48:47one that takes us uphill now that's a downhill
- 48:49heavy braking section that that pit the pit exit
- 48:54that we have there we could take that out that
- 48:57that corner and open the corner up and make the
- 48:59corner more wide which makes for more overtaking
- 49:02opportunities Oh, this is interesting. You brought
- 49:07up when we talked about it that there are a couple
- 49:09of other corners that are problematic in the
- 49:12track, just like driving in reverse might be.
- 49:14I'm just going through the track in reverse right
- 49:17now because, of course, this is one of the few
- 49:19I do know. That first turn downhill, I think
- 49:22that could be a problem. It's a little spooky.
- 49:24If you can't brake, you're just going into the
- 49:27wall. I mean, they'd have to bake a runoff, and
- 49:29I just don't know if there's runoff room there.
- 49:31I don't know. And honestly, that exit out of
- 49:35that tunnel. Sorry, Kev. We got another one.
- 49:39That exit out of that tunnel is. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 49:44I think it's possible. Can you do that on the
- 49:45game? Do we know? You can't do it in the game.
- 49:48You can't in sim racing. And that's what I was
- 49:52hearing. Don't talk about modding the game on
- 49:53the mic show. What if EA hears you? We're going
- 49:57to ban you from the game that you're not going
- 49:59to buy. But if you want to know my real secret
- 50:00sauce for making Monaco better. It's called Go
- 50:05to Portugal Instead. Take us back to Portugal.
- 50:09I love that track. It's so cool. The nerdy part
- 50:13of me is like there's way too much history in
- 50:17Monaco. We just gotta figure it out. It's such
- 50:22a historic track. It's been around forever. It's
- 50:26boring. No one goes there for the race. It's
- 50:28a party, right? That's the glitz and glam of
- 50:30it. I don't even think Monaco has to pay for
- 50:33the race to be there. I think they get paid for
- 50:35the race to be there. That was disputed. That
- 50:37was a rumor that went around. Actually, I don't...
- 50:42The FIA came out, and they're like, they do pay.
- 50:44Now, there's a lot of talk that Monaco pays the
- 50:47least amount out of any track. Yes, I think that
- 50:49that's, yeah. And I think that that's accurate,
- 50:51is that they just pay the least amount, but they
- 50:53do still have to pay it. Yeah, so compared to,
- 50:55like, $50 million annually, Monaco pays around,
- 50:57like, $20. Yeah. And that's just because of their
- 50:59historic status, right? Exactly. I'm sure they're
- 51:02bringing more money in than that. Oh, hands down.
- 51:04Is that what we had for quick thoughts? Because
- 51:08we are running long. That's what we have for
- 51:12quick thoughts. I just want to talk about the
- 51:14state of Monaco. I agree with both of you. I
- 51:17honestly wish... You'd like to keep it on the
- 51:21schedule? No, but I understand why it won't go.
- 51:26Because it's so historic. You're about to say
- 51:28you'd rather keep Imola over... I'd rather keep
- 51:30Imola over Monaco for sure. Give me Portugal.
- 51:32That's a tough argument. I like Imola too. That's
- 51:34another historic one. They need to fix it somehow,
- 51:37right? Because it's just really bad. Hopefully,
- 51:39I'm hoping the cars will be enough. I don't think
- 51:40they will be. I agree. We'll see. We'll see.
- 51:44We'll see. We'll see if we race Monaco 26. We
- 51:47are. Yeah, for sure. Anyway, Kev, let's do a
- 51:51little quick little stroll here through the news.
- 52:18And with the news, Joe's got our first little
- 52:20tidbit. Yeah, so I think this was already announced
- 52:25before or during China. China, they did have...
- 52:30Get over there. Sorry, man. He's good. China,
- 52:36they brought stricter rules to their rear wing,
- 52:40and everyone was like, oh, this is going to break
- 52:42McLaren, and it didn't do anything to McLaren,
- 52:44and McLaren's fine. Spain, they are going to
- 52:48bring stricter rules for front wings now, which
- 52:52should help ease down on the flexi wings kind
- 52:55of. I guess, just set up that cars may have.
- 53:00I was looking into an article, and I think Fred
- 53:02Versoer was like, it's not going to be an immediate
- 53:04change, but in the grand scheme of things, it
- 53:06could probably shake things up a little bit.
- 53:09And then I just thought it was funny. Jules Verstappen
- 53:11came out and was like, yeah, this is exactly
- 53:13what we need to happen because McLaren is too
- 53:15fast. And it's like, okay, whatever. So I actually
- 53:19have an article pull up right here from the F1
- 53:22website. Good job. my sources. This is actually
- 53:27a statement from Andrea Stella saying the title
- 53:32of it is Rivals Distracted by Tex Saga's quote,
- 53:36good news for McLaren. And it basically just
- 53:39says that McLaren's Andrea Estella says it's
- 53:42good news for his team that Formula 1 rivals
- 53:45are focused on what he believes are incorrect
- 53:47reasons for why the Papaya Squad is dominating.
- 53:50That's so awesome. Basically, Andrea Estella
- 53:53is basically being like, guys, we don't care
- 53:55if you change our front wing. That's not why
- 53:57we're so good. Rebel starts sweating. Well, arguably,
- 54:02they already are sweating. Straight up. Thailand.
- 54:07Looking to enter F1. I think they said earliest
- 54:11that they would expect is 2028, but I don't mind
- 54:14another. Do they have to build a track or do
- 54:18they have one? I think they probably have to
- 54:22build one. A street race around the Thai capital.
- 54:25That would be sick. That would be actually Albon's
- 54:31home race because he's Thai. Albon? Albon is
- 54:36Thai. He treats the Singapore Grand Prix as his
- 54:41home race right now. Because it's so close to
- 54:43home for him, but he's not actually from Singapore.
- 54:48I'm just trying to see. He's Thai and British,
- 54:51I think. Half Thai, half British. I'm just trying
- 54:56to see if there is the track that they would
- 54:59look. They have hosted A MotoGP racing at the
- 55:05Berriam Circuit since 2018. I don't think they've
- 55:11noted if they're going to make a new one. You
- 55:13said MotoGP? I watched some of that this weekend.
- 55:16I forgot how wild that is. Island of Man and
- 55:20stuff like that. It's insane. I think MotoGP
- 55:24can race Formula 1 tracks. I think that's a possibility.
- 55:28I'm not 100 % sure. Should be more than enough
- 55:33time to... Well, yeah, they're breaking ground
- 55:35on... What track? Madrid? Yeah, they're breaking
- 55:39ground. They only just broke ground in Madrid,
- 55:40and they're adding that in, what, 2027? What
- 55:43was that other Saudi race? I thought Madrid starts
- 55:44next year. Oh, does it? Yeah, I thought I heard
- 55:47Madrid starts next year. Oh, okay. But yeah,
- 55:48either way, it's early, right? So, like, you
- 55:50know... What was that? What was that other Saudi
- 55:52race that we... Oh, it was the one that we thought
- 55:56might either replace Jetta or be in addition
- 55:59to. I can't remember what the name is. It's got
- 56:03the knife turn, they call it, or something. Anyway,
- 56:07all right. PepsiCo signing a multi -year deal.
- 56:12Massive. Yeah, we're going to get Dorito F1.
- 56:14It's going to be great. And Gatorade F1. Gatorade
- 56:17F1. And Sting Energy F1. And Sting Energy F1.
- 56:20I've never heard of Sting Energy F1. Yeah, I
- 56:23thought I saw that Gatorade is doing the sprints.
- 56:28Now it's going to be the F1 Gatorade sprints
- 56:30or whatever. I don't know what they're going
- 56:32to call them. Honestly, it makes more sense than
- 56:34having Heineken be a sponsor, right? They're
- 56:38very good about their 0 .0 kind of spot. It's
- 56:42going to be weird seeing Gatorade everywhere,
- 56:44though. Yeah, it'll be fine, I suppose. Yeah,
- 56:46I'm sure it'll be fine. It'll feel like the 90s.
- 56:50Slow news week. More money for F1. All right,
- 56:53cool. Okay, let's go. Yeah, let's head right
- 56:57into the Spain preview, Kev. Sorry. You caught
- 57:17me mid -cluck. That's embarrassing. Sorry. I
- 57:22won't let it happen again. I'm here to bring
- 57:24us up to speed for this year's Formula One Aramico.
- 57:30Aramco Grand Premio de España 2025. You guys
- 57:33are throwing off my ring. I know, dude. I'm sorry.
- 57:35Start over. Start over. I'm here to bring you
- 57:38up to speed for this year's Formula One Aramco
- 57:42Grand Premio de España 2025 at the Circuit de
- 57:45Barcelona Catalunya. Jeez. Put that on a t -shirt.
- 57:50The end there was a little bit of flavor for
- 57:52me. That's not part of the race name. Oh, yeah.
- 57:55Flavor. Okay. Thanks, guys. Joe's seasoning.
- 57:58Hey, thanks, guys. Put that on your steak and
- 58:00eat it. A fun fact per usual. I'm just kidding.
- 58:03I'm sorry. A fun fact per usual. Ferrari as a
- 58:07team holds the most wins here, with Alonzo and
- 58:09Hamilton tied for the most wins by any one driver.
- 58:12I don't think Alonzo's going to keep that. It
- 58:14says you. You haven't heard my podium. Last year,
- 58:19our starting grid was starting two, I should
- 58:23say, our starting two rows was Norris to Verstappen,
- 58:26Hamilton to Russell. Immediately off the line,
- 58:28Lando cuts across the track to try and cover
- 58:30off Max, almost pushing him off track and onto
- 58:32the grass. They stay side by side all the way
- 58:35to the first corner. Lando focuses on taking
- 58:37Max but doesn't see the Mercedes of George Russell
- 58:39quickly approaching behind. Able to take hold
- 58:41of his opportunity to fight between Lando and
- 58:43Verstappen and drive around. both of them through
- 58:46the first corner to take the lead. All the while,
- 58:49Lando loses his spot twice as Max takes the inside
- 58:52line and second place through the same corner.
- 58:55Such a good start. Just behind the Ferraris in
- 58:57third row, they take the fight to Hamilton and
- 59:02both go alongside through the first corner, but
- 59:04Hamilton shows off his veteran status and manages
- 59:06to keep ahead, falling in right behind Lando.
- 59:09Russell is only able to hold onto the first for
- 59:11the next two laps as Max takes his rightful position
- 59:13back. the same first corner. Around the same
- 59:16time, the pair of Ferraris battle through the
- 59:18first corner, getting close enough to rub wheels
- 59:20with each other as Sainz takes the position,
- 59:23falling off track, doing so, but able to keep
- 59:25the position ahead. Lap 16, we watch a nightmare
- 59:28pit stop from George, who locks up on the entrance
- 59:30of the pit lane and is then held in his pit box
- 59:32with issues from the back right tire. Pitting
- 59:35right behind, Leclerc puts in a normal pit stop
- 59:37for Ferrari, a banger compared to Russell's,
- 59:40and they go side by side through the pit lane
- 59:42to the end, Charles only just missing out in
- 59:44the overtaking. through the pits. Lap 19, Sainz
- 59:47gets into his second kerfuffle as he goes side
- 59:49by side with Hamilton through the first corner,
- 59:52touching wheels again as they make their way
- 59:54through the S's. A little debris coming from
- 59:57the contact, but Hamilton able to make the position
- 59:59stick. Instead of pitting earlier to fend off
- 1:00:01the likes of Russell, Lando has decided to stay
- 1:00:03out and go for Max. This did not prove fruitful
- 1:00:06when on lap 24, he finally does pit and comes
- 1:00:08out behind not just Max in second, but followed
- 1:00:11by George, but Hamilton and Sainz as well. A
- 1:00:14few laps later, Lando gets the fresher tires
- 1:00:17working, overtaking Sainz for fourth. The other
- 1:00:19McLaren of Piastre further down the grid finds
- 1:00:21Perez on lap 28 and overtakes him for ninth position.
- 1:00:24Still a couple cars ahead that haven't pit. He
- 1:00:27makes the move on Ocon in the Alpine a few laps
- 1:00:29later. We see another overtake from Lando into
- 1:00:32third on lap 32 on Hamilton, getting ever so
- 1:00:34closer to Russell in second, where he starts
- 1:00:36fighting him on lap 35. The battle through...
- 1:00:40Whoa, I'm sorry. Hold on. The battle through
- 1:00:42half of the lap, going side -by -side through
- 1:00:45the S's until Lando overtakes before the turn
- 1:00:47into the hairpin, where Russell takes the inside
- 1:00:50line and makes his way just slightly back ahead.
- 1:00:52The fighting continues through the lap, but now
- 1:00:55with Lando on the inside after the hairpin, as
- 1:00:57he makes the move stick up the hill just before
- 1:00:59the second DRS zone. The fighting, however, moves
- 1:01:02Lando further back from his battle with Verstappen
- 1:01:04and less than half a race distance to go. On
- 1:01:06lap 52, we get to watch a pair of Mercedes Ducats
- 1:01:09through the first few corners. Hamilton taking
- 1:01:11the final podium position from his teammate,
- 1:01:13George. 14 laps later, we watched Max Verstappen
- 1:01:17take the finish line two seconds ahead of Norris,
- 1:01:1917 seconds ahead of Hamilton in third. Our final
- 1:01:2210, Verstappen, Norris, Hamilton, Russell, Leclerc,
- 1:01:25Sainz, Piastri, Perez, Gasly, and Ocon. What
- 1:01:29was the final? Top three. Top three was Verstappen,
- 1:01:33Norris, and Hamilton. Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton.
- 1:01:38Max Verstappen wins the Grand Prix. Wild battles
- 1:01:43early. While you were doing that, we were watching
- 1:01:47the highlights, and it was following along. It
- 1:01:51was great. It was a really good overtake from
- 1:01:52George right at the start. Man, I watched it.
- 1:01:54I'm like, oh, that's so good. Incredible. What
- 1:01:57does he do again? Interesting weekend. Interesting
- 1:02:01weekend. I got a prediction that doesn't involve
- 1:02:03any podium points. Okay. Both Alpines will be
- 1:02:08in Q2. No problemo. And Gasly will get into Q1.
- 1:02:15Colbindle could flirt with it, but it's probably
- 1:02:16going to be... I'm sorry, Q3. Thank you. I mean,
- 1:02:20what you said was correct. Everyone's getting
- 1:02:22in Q1. What if he doesn't? What if he doesn't
- 1:02:24leave the garage? No, stop. Stop. That's not
- 1:02:27going to happen. That's not going to happen.
- 1:02:29But Colbindle could float. You ready for my counterpoint?
- 1:02:34Alonso gets his first points this weekend. God,
- 1:02:38you'd hope so. I mean, why not? He was fast before
- 1:02:42the failure. Yeah. And if his car starts on fire,
- 1:02:47then maybe he just takes the rest of the season
- 1:02:49off. Then it's just time to mail in the season,
- 1:02:53come back next year. Skip Drogovic the rest of
- 1:02:55the season. Just take some time to relax. Come
- 1:02:59back next year and do a new car. Does Mercedes
- 1:03:01rebound this week? Does Mercedes rebound and
- 1:03:04does George come back? Or does Ferrari... Oh,
- 1:03:07wait, no. I was about to say, does Ferrari keep
- 1:03:11the momentum and does Sainz get on the... But
- 1:03:13Sainz isn't on Ferrari anymore. Man, if Sainz
- 1:03:16was on the podium, it'd be crazy. I hope Sainz
- 1:03:19doesn't get points this week. Smack the microphone.
- 1:03:21So, predictions? Predictions. Point check -in.
- 1:03:27Mike got one point. Yes, sir. I got two points.
- 1:03:32Yes, sir. And Smeltsy with Charles out of nowhere
- 1:03:34once again, just like George Russell slips into
- 1:03:37the podium with three points. Three points. Bringing
- 1:03:40our total. Smeltsy at 21, me at 20, and Mike
- 1:03:44at 21. I think Mike should pick first this week.
- 1:03:48I believe. Yeah. I mean, how did we do this before?
- 1:03:50So you were leading. I've picked first so many
- 1:03:54times this year, so I think it's Mike's turn.
- 1:03:56Actually, you were leading. Yeah. No. Oh, he
- 1:03:59picked first last week? I have for the last two
- 1:04:01weeks. You were leading, and now you both are
- 1:04:03tied. Now we're both tied. So that would mean
- 1:04:05he's still leading. Oh, yes. I think you're right,
- 1:04:08because he was leading before. That's our four
- 1:04:10rules. No, that's fair. I'm still the winner.
- 1:04:15Sure. We're very close. We're all very close.
- 1:04:18This is crazy. What did you say? We're nine races
- 1:04:20in and we're within one point. This is better
- 1:04:22than I was doing last year. I'm happy. Joe and
- 1:04:25I were in a race for the bottom. Yeah, brother.
- 1:04:30Okay, so if I'm going first, I believe that in
- 1:04:34first place, Max Verstappen. I think in second
- 1:04:42place, I'm going to put Lando Norris. And in
- 1:04:49third, I'm going to put Oscar Piastri. Interesting.
- 1:05:01It is. Interesting. It is interesting. I agree.
- 1:05:05That's interesting. It is interesting. I agree.
- 1:05:07I think this is my first time in how long that
- 1:05:10I didn't put Oscar to win. What, three weeks?
- 1:05:15It's been a while. This is your first non -McLaren
- 1:05:19first place. Is it really? Yes. Oh, crazy. You
- 1:05:23only put Oscar Orlando. I'm consistent. I've
- 1:05:27also only put Oscar Orlando. At least I'm consistent.
- 1:05:30He's been all over the board, more or less, but
- 1:05:33he's mostly put Oscar. Have I? You put Oscar,
- 1:05:38Oscar, Max, George, Max, Lando, Oscar, Oscar.
- 1:05:41Gosh, I don't hate you saying Max winning. That's
- 1:05:43not a bad take there. You guys are so wrong.
- 1:05:48McLaren fanboy over here. No bias out of him,
- 1:05:50obviously. I'm not going to say anything until
- 1:05:54he's done. Oscar. Okay. Don't hate that. Yeah,
- 1:06:06this one's this is a toughy Lando George I Don't
- 1:06:13hate you're putting George on the podium. I don't
- 1:06:16hate that Mercedes is gonna rebound Okay Okay,
- 1:06:20you like putting George on your podium son. He
- 1:06:24does. He likes putting George or Charles and
- 1:06:26did More often than not, it kind of works. It's
- 1:06:28like a 50 -50 shot. I say more often than not,
- 1:06:32but it's actually not worked a couple times.
- 1:06:34No, it's actually more often than not. This is
- 1:06:37the same podium that you had when you got your
- 1:06:39six points in race two. It's your lucky three,
- 1:06:44I would say. Charles was a tough... Charles and
- 1:06:46Max I was really struggling with. I almost went
- 1:06:49Oscar Max George. Totally. But that's tough.
- 1:06:54Okay. Lando's going to win this week. Yes, make
- 1:06:57it interesting. We all have different winners.
- 1:06:59He had a really bad start last year. He's in
- 1:07:03the fastest car, and he got back to second, and
- 1:07:07he was catching max last year. I think he's taking
- 1:07:10it. I can see that. I almost didn't put Oscar
- 1:07:13on my podium because he didn't do well last year
- 1:07:17here. I think he has a way faster car now, and
- 1:07:20I think he's an overall better driver. So he
- 1:07:22probably will go on my podium somewhere. My third
- 1:07:25is a little... I'm stuck on where to put my third,
- 1:07:28and if I'm putting it in second or third. I think
- 1:07:32I will put Oscar in second. I don't want to put
- 1:07:36Max up there, though, because I don't think Max
- 1:07:39is going to do well this weekend. So it's Max,
- 1:07:41Charles, or George? It's Charles or George. I
- 1:07:44don't think I want to put Max this weekend. I
- 1:07:46was going to throw him in there just to be fun.
- 1:07:49You know what? I think the idea of each of us
- 1:07:53having a wild card, for the first time this year,
- 1:07:57Charles will be going up on my put. Oh, I actually
- 1:07:59hate that. Hold on. He didn't type it fully.
- 1:08:04I didn't see it. I only heard the button start.
- 1:08:06Man, I feel like I do want Charles to keep the
- 1:08:10momentum. I just don't think they can. I can
- 1:08:13have a comment on Charles once you make your
- 1:08:15pick. Once you make your pick? Yeah. How can
- 1:08:17you possibly already have a point? I'm not going
- 1:08:18to help you make your pick. Look at the system's
- 1:08:20cheating him. I'm losing. Yeah, good, because
- 1:08:23I need to be winning. The system already gave
- 1:08:24him a point, so now he's tied with it. Yeah,
- 1:08:26it's because I'm matching with the blank. Here,
- 1:08:30look, I'll do this, so now I'm not matching.
- 1:08:32Good. N. I'm losing. Help me. So here's my thought
- 1:08:37process. I'm so sorry we're going over time.
- 1:08:39I'm not even going to say it. You know what?
- 1:08:41You know what? Yolo. Charles. I'm putting him
- 1:08:44in. I spelled his name wrong. Charles. I'm putting
- 1:08:47him in. He's locked. Chuck. I think it could
- 1:08:50be Charles or George. It could even be Max. I
- 1:08:52just don't think Max is going to get podium this
- 1:08:53week. I think he's going to go two weeks in a
- 1:08:55row without podium. That's what I'm thinking,
- 1:08:57too. I sound crazy to myself. That's what I'm
- 1:08:58thinking, too. That's what I'm thinking, too.
- 1:09:00That's what you're like. Max isn't going to be
- 1:09:02on the podium. I'm like, for two weeks in a row?
- 1:09:05Again, we're not gaining any Red Bull fans right
- 1:09:07now. I just think he had car superiority last
- 1:09:10year. And that's kind of my thought. McLaren
- 1:09:14at this point had the faster car. McLaren was
- 1:09:17at the point where they were the fastest car,
- 1:09:19and this was where we see that Oscar was still
- 1:09:22kind of struggling last year, and Lando was struggling
- 1:09:24with his starts. So the McLaren did have the
- 1:09:26fastest car, and Max still found his way up top.
- 1:09:29I actually disagree. I don't think they had the
- 1:09:31fastest car at this point. I think we're still
- 1:09:33a few races behind. This is early in the season.
- 1:09:35This is after Miami. Yeah, but Miami, they were
- 1:09:39close to having the fastest car. I don't think
- 1:09:42they had the fastest car. I think most people
- 1:09:43tend to agree that McLaren took over as the fastest
- 1:09:46car after Miami. I don't know. I still see their
- 1:09:50dominance coming late season. sure like post
- 1:09:54summer break like they may have had the i guess
- 1:09:57you know what that's fair maybe maybe it's the
- 1:09:59fact that max's car is much worse than it was
- 1:10:02at this point of the season last year and that's
- 1:10:04probably the fact that i'm going off of more
- 1:10:06okay um yeah i could be wrong though Did you
- 1:10:10have a point about Charles you wanted to talk
- 1:10:11about? Oh, yeah. I think actually Charles is
- 1:10:14a good pick. I think Charles is fast on this
- 1:10:16track. He has shown speed on this track. And
- 1:10:17I don't think the Mercedes bounces back. I still
- 1:10:22think they're going to take time to try and figure
- 1:10:24out the problem with their car. Yes. Good. Good.
- 1:10:28Yeah. That means they're going to get third.
- 1:10:30I don't think Mercedes has to bounce back per
- 1:10:32se. I just think they had a really bad weekend.
- 1:10:34That's what I mean. They were off. So that's
- 1:10:35why they have to bounce back from that weekend.
- 1:10:37Yeah. and get back on the podium. I honestly
- 1:10:40feel like George is a better choice than Charles,
- 1:10:44but I like the idea of us each having a different
- 1:10:46wild card. And we each have a different winner.
- 1:10:49We do. We're going to get a points shakeup next
- 1:10:53week. Lando is truly the only one that I feel
- 1:10:56actually confident about in his place as well.
- 1:10:59I do, actually. I was tossing up between... I
- 1:11:02didn't think Oscar was going to win this weekend,
- 1:11:03but I was tossing up between Lando and Max, and
- 1:11:06I was like, you know what? Max's first ever win
- 1:11:09was at this track. That's true. Mick Schumacher.
- 1:11:16What are you talking about? I was expecting you
- 1:11:19to say Carlos Sainz or something. Wouldn't that
- 1:11:22be cool though? It would be amazing. So many
- 1:11:26people would have to crash. I would be so hype
- 1:11:29if that happened. That would be sick. Oh man,
- 1:11:32but what if Carlos gets fourth? That'd be so
- 1:11:34dope. I'd still be so hype. I love Carlos. Alright,
- 1:11:38well you heard it here. Banter with the boys.
- 1:11:41We love Carlos. With that, no pod next week.
- 1:11:47Mike, you won't be here next week. That's true.
- 1:11:51Joe, you're not going to be here next week. Are
- 1:11:53you going to be here next week? I'll probably
- 1:11:55show up on accident. Probably show up on accident.
- 1:11:58I ought to have it. Mike, thanks for beating
- 1:12:01the system and being here today. I'm here. This
- 1:12:03was fun. He took it to the man. Joe. For you
- 1:12:08Spotify listeners, I'm just nodding at Joe. That's
- 1:12:12all. There's something unspoken here. Oh, here,
- 1:12:14let me do a hat tip like they do in golf. Boop.
- 1:12:17There you go. You have to do the noise, too.
- 1:12:19Boop. My lady. All right. So with that, obviously,
- 1:12:26don't forget Kev behind the camera. Thanks, Kev.
- 1:12:30The cameras. Oh, wait. Yeah, camera. Oh, computer,
- 1:12:33I meant to say. We're done. Anyway, I'm Smelty.
- 1:12:36Yep. Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe,
- 1:12:39wherever you listen to the banter, whether that's
- 1:12:41YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or iHeartRadio.
- 1:12:45And we will not see you here next week, but we'll
- 1:12:47be back soon. Peace. See you. Goodbye. Don't
- 1:12:52forget to follow, like and subscribe. Tune in
- 1:12:56next time for more banter with the boys.
