- 0:09Speaker 1: Former MLBGM Jim Duquette joining us right now for a
- 0:12Speaker 1: little sweet life talk. So Duke excited? Where's Trek scouogle gown?
- 0:17Speaker 2: What's up, guys?
- 0:18Speaker 3: Uh, you have more rumors there, Agent, I know how
- 0:20Speaker 3: you love him?
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I you know what. I I don't know how
- 0:24Speaker 2: you guys feel about this.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I'm so down on how Detroit has handled this situation
- 0:29Speaker 3: with Schooble.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Uh.
- 0:31Speaker 3: They for me, even though I mean, if if they
- 0:34Speaker 3: were going to do this now, and I think they've
- 0:36Speaker 3: had their mind set on moving him, not just over
- 0:39Speaker 3: the last couple of days, but more than a week now.
- 0:41Speaker 2: They just were waiting for the.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Opportunity to do it, and they were worried about the
- 0:45Speaker 3: what the how it would look. Then they should have
- 0:48Speaker 3: traded him, you know, a while ago they should have
- 0:50Speaker 3: traded you know, when they had they won six games
- 0:52Speaker 3: in May, you know, think about moving him back then.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Right now, they're one of the teams that has actually
- 0:58Speaker 3: played well since June first, right they I mean outstanding
- 1:01Speaker 3: without notwithstanding the last five games where they've lost four
- 1:04Speaker 3: to the last five and in a lot of ways.
- 1:08Speaker 2: The sign is they're there.
- 1:09Speaker 3: They were trending up and now because they lose two
- 1:12Speaker 3: to Baltimore and two to.
- 1:14Speaker 2: The Kansas City. Now they're going to decide to move them.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I don't know. I just think it's not been handled
- 1:19Speaker 2: very well.
- 1:19Speaker 3: You can go back even last winter, so right now
- 1:22Speaker 3: if you want to handicap it, you know, I put
- 1:25Speaker 3: the Dodgers aside for a minute, just because they're annoying
- 1:28Speaker 3: when it comes to getting the best players. They seem
- 1:30Speaker 3: to get them all the time. But you have to
- 1:33Speaker 3: look hard at Milwaukee, you have to look hard at Atlanta,
- 1:36Speaker 3: you have to look really really deep into Tampa. Those
- 1:39Speaker 3: are the three that keep coming up the most. I
- 1:42Speaker 3: still think in the end, the Dodgers will end up
- 1:44Speaker 3: getting them because they just sit there and they wait
- 1:46Speaker 3: and they negotiate better than anybody.
- 1:48Speaker 2: They wait and they wait and they wait.
- 1:50Speaker 3: And see what the final price is and they just
- 1:52Speaker 3: add that one last piece that gets them.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Over the top.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And so you know, I don't think it's great for
- 1:57Speaker 3: the sport, but I think the Dodgers will end up
- 1:59Speaker 3: getting well.
- 2:02Speaker 5: I mean, I hope that doesn't happen, just because I
- 2:03Speaker 5: think that if the Dodgers get them, they're going to
- 2:05Speaker 5: probably win three in a row and whereas if a
- 2:07Speaker 5: team like Milwaukee or Tampa gets some it changes that
- 2:10Speaker 5: team and their smaller market. And I think it would
- 2:12Speaker 5: be awesome for the game to have a one of
- 2:14Speaker 5: those teams just because of as a player.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm a CBA guy.
- 2:17Speaker 5: Jim, what was the biggest trade that you ever made
- 2:19Speaker 5: as a former GM.
- 2:22Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 2:23Speaker 3: When I was with the Mets actually as the assistant,
- 2:26Speaker 3: when we traded for Piazza, that was like the huge,
- 2:29Speaker 3: the biggest, the biggest trade that we've ever you know,
- 2:32Speaker 3: made as an organization.
- 2:34Speaker 2: So I'll I'll kind of tag along with that.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I mean there were times there were there was I
- 2:38Speaker 3: think more times that I had trades that were, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 3: this close to being done and then the owner said no,
- 2:46Speaker 3: like trading for uh, if you remember Irving Santana or
- 2:51Speaker 3: Bartolo Cologne.
- 2:52Speaker 2: With the Angels, we had a chance to get either.
- 2:53Speaker 3: One of them, plus Eric Ibar, who was a short
- 2:57Speaker 3: they're starting shortsight. That was for to hot it back
- 3:00Speaker 3: back when I was with the Orioles, those would have
- 3:01Speaker 3: that would have been the biggest deal. Or we could
- 3:04Speaker 3: have had a chance to trade him to the Astros,
- 3:06Speaker 3: to Hi to the Astros, and we could have gotten
- 3:09Speaker 3: Roy Olswalt and Morgan Ensburg and one other. So I
- 3:13Speaker 3: mean there are more deals I think that get talked
- 3:16Speaker 3: about and discussed, Bigger deals that get discussed that don't
- 3:19Speaker 3: get done then do get done at the deadline. That's
- 3:21Speaker 3: what makes it so frustrating. To your point earlier on
- 3:24Speaker 3: listening to these rumors, all these names, all these names
- 3:28Speaker 3: are getting mentioned at the deadline, and most of them
- 3:31Speaker 3: aren't going to go anywhere, all right.
- 3:33Speaker 5: The reason I ask is because you mentioned that the
- 3:35Speaker 5: Tigers have not handled Schooble very well. How would you
- 3:39Speaker 5: have handled it? And what do you say to Terry'scoobel
- 3:41Speaker 5: If you're Scott Harris and you're a J. Hinch and
- 3:44Speaker 5: you're the Tiger's front office, what's your what's your communication.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Level like with the star player at that level?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Well, I feel bad for Hinch because he's had to
- 3:56Speaker 3: answer these questions all year and more so over the
- 4:00Speaker 3: last couple of weeks. And he came on my show
- 4:04Speaker 3: the other day and he said, basically, I've tried to
- 4:06Speaker 3: insulate my entire team from all these rumors and let's
- 4:09Speaker 3: just have them focus on trying to win ball games
- 4:12Speaker 3: and try not to worry about the other stuff that's
- 4:15Speaker 3: going on around you. I think that's you know, if
- 4:17Speaker 3: you can have that approach, that's the best one.
- 4:20Speaker 2: But you know, if I.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Were in the Tiger shoes, first off, I would have
- 4:24Speaker 3: seriously consider trading him last year if you didn't think
- 4:26Speaker 3: you could sign them up.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I wouldn't want to be in this position.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I would have tried to, you know, make the team
- 4:32Speaker 3: better in the winter time and then add around it
- 4:34Speaker 3: and be you know, hopefully talking about, you know, trying
- 4:37Speaker 3: to win the division. But since they made this decision already,
- 4:42Speaker 3: for me, I look at what Baltimore did, whether you
- 4:45Speaker 3: agree or disagree what the Twins have done.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Agreeing or disagreeing.
- 4:48Speaker 3: They came out early in Houston, I'll throw the Astros
- 4:51Speaker 3: in there. They came out weeks ago and said we're buying,
- 4:55Speaker 3: we're buying. And I think when you're playing, you guys
- 4:57Speaker 3: tell me because you're the former player. But I know
- 5:00Speaker 3: when I would sit there and I'd go into the
- 5:02Speaker 3: clubhouse and sit there in front of the players, they
- 5:05Speaker 3: didn't want to hear about.
- 5:07Speaker 2: It was a huge distraction. If we were selling. All
- 5:10Speaker 2: they wanted to know is where am I going, do
- 5:12Speaker 2: you have anything like?
- 5:12Speaker 3: That's all they asked about, and I got to believe
- 5:16Speaker 3: that's the same thing that's been going on in Detroit.
- 5:18Speaker 3: All they've been doing is wondering where's Scooball gonna go?
- 5:21Speaker 3: And that's just a major distraction. It takes you away
- 5:24Speaker 3: from winning, which is hard to do. So I think
- 5:26Speaker 3: that's the other aspect that annoys me about the way
- 5:29Speaker 3: they've handled this thing, is this is lingered for weeks,
- 5:33Speaker 3: and I felt like the players have kind of been
- 5:36Speaker 3: left hanging to ask these questions all the time, and
- 5:39Speaker 3: it could have been squashed.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And by the way, you could just change your mind.
- 5:42Speaker 3: On Sunday, and you know, the day before the deadline
- 5:45Speaker 3: said you know what, we weren't playing well enough, so
- 5:47Speaker 3: we trade them. But leaving that out there with all
- 5:51Speaker 3: this uncertainty, I think has caused more issues than than
- 5:55Speaker 3: it's solved.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Jimmy said it'd be unfair if the Dodgers got Scooball.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Do you know, like fans forget this isn't free agency,
- 6:04Speaker 4: like this is trade deadline. Trade deadline, every team has
- 6:09Speaker 4: the opportunity to get trek School, So why is that unfair?
- 6:12Speaker 4: If the Dodgers make the strongest push.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Well, it's only unfair if you like parody and you
- 6:19Speaker 3: like to see someone else win.
- 6:20Speaker 2: That's all I don't want to, you know. Then the
- 6:22Speaker 2: Dodgers like do I do? We want to see here?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Here's what And you know this cratzy as well as
- 6:27Speaker 3: I do. If the Dodgers win a third World Series,
- 6:30Speaker 3: all we're gonna hear about in the next for the
- 6:32Speaker 3: collective bargaining agreement is we need a salary cap because
- 6:35Speaker 3: of the Dodgers. And I'm like, I'm sick of hearing
- 6:38Speaker 3: about that too and denigrating the sport.
- 6:41Speaker 2: The way we have over the last few weeks.
- 6:43Speaker 3: So yeah, to me, yeah, Milwaukee does have a chance
- 6:47Speaker 3: to trade for them. They have a terrific farm system,
- 6:50Speaker 3: and they have a starting pitcher like Logan Henderson that
- 6:53Speaker 3: could go in and fit.
- 6:55Speaker 2: In just fine, along with.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Some other prospects, and they have enough prospects to do this.
- 7:00Speaker 3: They tend to show restraint, you know, So so do
- 7:03Speaker 3: the Cubs, who've shown, you know that they're interested in
- 7:07Speaker 3: I would love to see the Cubs from twenty sixteen
- 7:11Speaker 3: say you know what, I don't care about prospects.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I want a.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Championship again and go do what it takes to get
- 7:17Speaker 3: the player. But there's a lot of general managers that
- 7:20Speaker 3: aren't wired that way. And you know that to me
- 7:23Speaker 3: is there's been a change over the last you know,
- 7:25Speaker 3: ten years or more worried about keeping their job than.
- 7:28Speaker 2: It is winning games.
- 7:29Speaker 3: And partly too, the postseason is a crap shoot, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 3: and you know it's a gauntlet, especially if you're going
- 7:36Speaker 3: in through the wild card. But you know, I to me,
- 7:39Speaker 3: if you have the web, if you have the assets
- 7:41Speaker 3: to go get it, Trek scouble, we all know what
- 7:44Speaker 3: Schooble on your team would do to help help get
- 7:48Speaker 3: you to win a World Series. Like That's why I
- 7:51Speaker 3: that's the other aspect with Detroit that drives me nuts
- 7:55Speaker 3: about it. They have they still have the best guy,
- 7:57Speaker 3: the best pitcher in the sport, and they still have
- 7:59Speaker 3: a team that's good enough if they could get in
- 8:01Speaker 3: the postseason to run the table and they're gonna, uh,
- 8:04Speaker 3: they're gonna trade them. So you know, I would love
- 8:07Speaker 3: to see any of those teams, not name the Dodgers,
- 8:10Speaker 3: outbid the Dodgers.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I just don't think it's gonna happen.
- 8:14Speaker 5: But by the way, Jim, I love what you just
- 8:16Speaker 5: said about the players, because Bryce Harper came out and said,
- 8:20Speaker 5: we need to add every single he got quoted on this,
- 8:24Speaker 5: and every single player I promise you that has a
- 8:27Speaker 5: chance to make the postseason if you put a microphone
- 8:29Speaker 5: in their face and say what, do you think they'd
- 8:31Speaker 5: be like, yeah, I want better players. I want more players,
- 8:35Speaker 5: you know what. And if I'm if you're a guy
- 8:37Speaker 5: at Bryce Harper's level not getting traded there, of course
- 8:39Speaker 5: they're going to say. Now, if you're the guy that
- 8:41Speaker 5: possibly could be involved in the trade and go to
- 8:43Speaker 5: a bad team, you might say, I don't know, but hey,
- 8:46Speaker 5: at the end of the day, if you're a superstar
- 8:48Speaker 5: player and you're a good player and you know you're
- 8:50Speaker 5: not going anywhere, of course you want to add. That's
- 8:52Speaker 5: why I just I love what you just said. Yes,
- 8:54Speaker 5: because every player, if you're on a good team, was like, please, Jim,
- 8:58Speaker 5: GM whoever is, get us some better players.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Well, and I loved I didn't have a problem what
- 9:05Speaker 3: Bryce had to say, and I most people shouldn't, and
- 9:07Speaker 3: I don't think anybody in the club out did. I
- 9:09Speaker 3: was a little surprised, you know, when Donnie manningly said
- 9:13Speaker 3: what he did, and I understand, you know, I understand why.
- 9:15Speaker 3: You know he's taking that side of it, obviously being
- 9:19Speaker 3: the management side, and you know his son obviously as
- 9:22Speaker 3: as the general manager.
- 9:23Speaker 2: But you know, if you're if you're on.
- 9:26Speaker 3: The team right or you're watching the team as often
- 9:29Speaker 3: as we are.
- 9:30Speaker 2: That's what they need.
- 9:31Speaker 3: The Phillies need, and we all know they need offensive piece,
- 9:34Speaker 3: they need bullpen help, and they need a backhand starter.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Like those three things are obvious. Now, I will say that,
- 9:41Speaker 3: you know, on Bryce's side of things, I don't know
- 9:44Speaker 3: if he was necessarily doubting. Uh, Dave do prosk Like
- 9:48Speaker 3: if you go back and look at last year's deadline,
- 9:50Speaker 3: they made one of the boldest trades in the sport,
- 9:54Speaker 3: right picking up Dryan to pitch at the backhand.
- 9:58Speaker 2: That's what Dave has done.
- 9:59Speaker 3: And Dave he is really good at doing that right
- 10:02Speaker 3: every deadline. So if he had let me just say
- 10:05Speaker 3: what it made them feel better if he had said
- 10:08Speaker 3: in addition to what he did. Oh, but we know
- 10:10Speaker 3: Dave has a history of making bold deals and so
- 10:14Speaker 3: I'm looking forward you know something like that if he
- 10:16Speaker 3: made would that have made it any better? I mean,
- 10:17Speaker 3: that's so he left out one sentence that people are
- 10:21Speaker 3: up in arms for what Bryce Harper had to say, like,
- 10:23Speaker 3: of course he should be able to say that, and
- 10:25Speaker 3: because it's the truth, right, So I didn't have a
- 10:28Speaker 3: problem with it at all, And I don't know some
- 10:30Speaker 3: people seem to think Dave Dombrowski would have a problem
- 10:33Speaker 3: with it. I find that hard to believe that that
- 10:36Speaker 3: would be an issue for him. He's already, you know,
- 10:39Speaker 3: knee deep in it and trying to trying to make
- 10:41Speaker 3: a bold move for them.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I know everyone says they just want the best return
- 10:46Speaker 4: for Trek Scooble, whatever the best return is. But wouldn't
- 10:50Speaker 4: did Tigers kind of lean towards the fact that this
- 10:52Speaker 4: team still is looking to win. They signed Framber Valdez.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I know it didn't go well. Scott Harris said, oh man,
- 10:59Speaker 4: this a year older. They're gonna get better, Like they
- 11:03Speaker 4: believe this team is here to win. Wouldn't a team
- 11:06Speaker 4: like the Braves or another team that has maybe big
- 11:10Speaker 4: league pieces instead of four high A guys be the
- 11:15Speaker 4: route that the Tigers were looking for or as a GM,
- 11:17Speaker 4: do you just say nope, best overall package? No, No,
- 11:21Speaker 4: nobody cares about what we're going to do next year.
- 11:25Speaker 2: In their situation.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I think what separates the teams to get Schooble versus
- 11:33Speaker 3: not is going to be a high end starting pitcher
- 11:36Speaker 3: that can go into the rotation right now. So with Atlanta,
- 11:39Speaker 3: if you want to include you know, maybe they don't
- 11:42Speaker 3: care for aj Smith Shaver and the uncertainty with that
- 11:46Speaker 3: just coming back from Tommy John.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Maybe they want Jr. Richie instead. The Brewers have Logan Henderson.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I know the Brewers don't want to.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Give them up, but I mean to get Trek Scouogle,
- 11:56Speaker 3: they would do it. The Dodgers have Emmitt Sheen like
- 12:00Speaker 3: that part whatever that uh, those pieces are to get Schooble,
- 12:05Speaker 3: I think it's gonna have to include a starting pitcher
- 12:07Speaker 3: that goes right into the rotation right away.
- 12:09Speaker 2: And then whatever.
- 12:10Speaker 3: You know, the next best piece might be from the
- 12:13Speaker 3: minor leagues, like you're like your suggestion and when That's
- 12:16Speaker 3: how I would view it, and I think that's how
- 12:17Speaker 3: the Tigers.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Are going to view it. Is all right, what what? So?
- 12:21Speaker 3: So we know what we're giving up here the final
- 12:24Speaker 3: two months, but we're gonna soften it or mitigate that
- 12:27Speaker 3: by getting a major league piece that fits into the
- 12:30Speaker 3: rotation right now. Oh by the way, Jackson job is
- 12:32Speaker 3: coming back too, and so you know, between those two guys,
- 12:35Speaker 3: maybe in their mind it equals the results that Schooble
- 12:39Speaker 3: would give them. I don't see it quite like that,
- 12:41Speaker 3: but I could see a front office thinking along those lines.
- 12:48Speaker 5: You're great, Jim, whatever it takes, whatever it takes to
- 12:50Speaker 5: get Schooble to the Razor Brewers, I'm all for, like you.
- 12:53Speaker 5: I mean, the Dodgers are the Dodgers. They already have enough,
- 12:55Speaker 5: so I can we talk about some other people? Though?
- 12:58Speaker 5: Can we not talk about Trek Scool for a little bit.
- 13:00Speaker 5: We're the Mets GM. What's it like when you trade
- 13:02Speaker 5: for a guy like Freddy Peralta and then he doesn't
- 13:04Speaker 5: have the year you expect and now you're thinking about moving?
- 13:07Speaker 5: What does that do to an organization, a team a GM?
- 13:10Speaker 5: Does that just eat at you all the year?
- 13:15Speaker 2: I'm glad you brought this up.
- 13:16Speaker 3: So Paralta, you know, unfortunately, has been a disaster, right,
- 13:20Speaker 3: I mean, the Mets season has been a disaster the
- 13:22Speaker 3: way Paralta's pitched. And he's such a good dude, like
- 13:25Speaker 3: I'm surprised, and I think most people are that watched
- 13:28Speaker 3: him pitch that he has not been able to figure
- 13:32Speaker 3: things out and pitch the way he did in Milwaukee,
- 13:35Speaker 3: even even you know, maybe a slight drop off would
- 13:38Speaker 3: have been fine, but this has been.
- 13:39Speaker 2: A huge drop off. So if you're the if you're
- 13:42Speaker 2: in David stern shoes, first.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Off, you're hopeful that there are teams that are interested
- 13:48Speaker 3: in him.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Now he hasn't. He's pitched so poorly.
- 13:50Speaker 3: That is a big possibility, right, You got to know
- 13:54Speaker 3: the player to realize that, hey, you know this guy
- 13:57Speaker 3: with a minor tweaker or so we can get him,
- 14:00Speaker 3: you know, out of this funk that he's been in
- 14:03Speaker 3: and you know, get the era which is close to five,
- 14:09Speaker 3: get more out of him than what he's been able
- 14:11Speaker 3: to do with there with the Mets, Right, And I
- 14:13Speaker 3: think sometimes it change of scenery helps a lot. But
- 14:16Speaker 3: if I'm in David Sterns shoes, like I got to
- 14:18Speaker 3: figure out who's the most interested. I don't get the
- 14:21Speaker 3: sense that Milwaukee is all that interested. I think they
- 14:24Speaker 3: would be interested, but I don't care. I just I
- 14:27Speaker 3: want the best take on this. I but I also
- 14:30Speaker 3: don't want to send them.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Back to Milwaukee.
- 14:32Speaker 3: So find me the team that's going to pay for
- 14:35Speaker 3: pay full freight, or give me the you know, the
- 14:37Speaker 3: best offer that doesn't have Milwaukee Brewers next to it.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Because if the Brewers fix it, fix them when we couldn't,
- 14:45Speaker 3: and we get you know, fifty cents on the dollar,
- 14:49Speaker 3: it's not going to end well for David Sterens and
- 14:52Speaker 3: it's not going to end well for the guys in
- 14:54Speaker 3: the front office. So luckily they have three other teams
- 14:56Speaker 3: that seem to be interested.
- 14:58Speaker 2: San Diego, the Cubs.
- 14:59Speaker 3: We hear them, to hear, the White Sox, maybe maybe
- 15:02Speaker 3: another team or so that we haven't heard yet, and
- 15:05Speaker 3: those are the likely destinations, not Milwaukee. I think Milwaukee
- 15:08Speaker 3: is looking in a different, different spot. I think they're
- 15:11Speaker 3: looking at either Schooble or Gosman, maybe even Robbie Ray,
- 15:15Speaker 3: one of those guys that would be starting, you know,
- 15:18Speaker 3: one of game one, two or three Peralta. You know,
- 15:21Speaker 3: unfortunately when he was there, he wasn't all that successful
- 15:25Speaker 3: in those particular roles. I don't think that they are
- 15:29Speaker 3: are willing to pay, you know, the price that the
- 15:32Speaker 3: Mets need to move to trade him.
- 15:34Speaker 4: There all right, Well, some good news out of Los Angeles,
- 15:38Speaker 4: the Angels. Is there actually listening to trades and they
- 15:41Speaker 4: actually made a trade?
- 15:44Speaker 5: Is it hard?
- 15:45Speaker 4: And kind of go into what that major shift of
- 15:48Speaker 4: listening to trades is for a GM when you call
- 15:51Speaker 4: a team and they say, now we're not listening because
- 15:54Speaker 4: that's the reports that we're hearing out of LA that
- 15:58Speaker 4: until John Mozeloc became the GM, they weren't really even
- 16:02Speaker 4: ever listening to trades.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Well, and part of that, you know, give mo credit
- 16:08Speaker 3: that you know, he hasn't been there that long, but
- 16:10Speaker 3: he does have a long track record of success in
- 16:13Speaker 3: Saint Louis, as we've seen him being able to a
- 16:16Speaker 3: big part of being able to make these deals is
- 16:18Speaker 3: your relationship with the owner and does the owner trust
- 16:21Speaker 3: you to make a trade?
- 16:23Speaker 2: Does he trust you know.
- 16:25Speaker 3: That that you're getting the most for them what you
- 16:28Speaker 3: know and he has to understand it, and that a
- 16:30Speaker 3: lot of that is the communication with your owner.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I wasn't that good at it, you know. I I
- 16:36Speaker 2: go back to my days.
- 16:37Speaker 3: And the Orioles, how difficult it was to trade Miguel
- 16:39Speaker 3: Tahata and with with you know, doing doing that was
- 16:43Speaker 3: going to be difficult on top of the fact that
- 16:46Speaker 3: I didn't get ahead of that and just kind of
- 16:48Speaker 3: give him the heads up, like, hey, we've got some
- 16:49Speaker 3: really good, significant offers.
- 16:51Speaker 2: It shouldn't be a shock or you know, shouldn't.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Stun the owner when you're doing a deal that you've
- 16:56Speaker 3: got good value back.
- 16:57Speaker 2: You should be having that constant communication.
- 17:00Speaker 3: And I don't think if prior GM perryman Azi and
- 17:02Speaker 3: had that relationship or had the let's say the gravetas
- 17:06Speaker 3: that John Mozaic does. So I think from most side
- 17:09Speaker 3: of things, give him credit. He was able to make,
- 17:11Speaker 3: you know, those two trades right out of the gate,
- 17:13Speaker 3: and I think there may be another one left.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I don't know if it's going to be.
- 17:16Speaker 3: A ton of trades from the Angels, but but you know,
- 17:18Speaker 3: moving those two pieces I think was the precursor for
- 17:21Speaker 3: something else.
- 17:23Speaker 5: All right, Jim, give me one trade that's not but
- 17:25Speaker 5: we haven't talked about that. You think is going to
- 17:27Speaker 5: be a move that will help a team win a
- 17:30Speaker 5: championship And I'm not talking schoobl that's obvious, pretty obvious.
- 17:35Speaker 5: We've talked about Freddy Peralta, We've we've talked about some
- 17:37Speaker 5: other names. Give me give me the one trade do
- 17:39Speaker 5: you think will happen that will help a team win
- 17:41Speaker 5: a championship.
- 17:43Speaker 3: I well, we didn't talk about Clay Holmes, and you know,
- 17:46Speaker 3: partly because he's been on the injury list and partly
- 17:49Speaker 3: because you know he we don't know what you're gonna
- 17:52Speaker 3: get coming off the injured list.
- 17:54Speaker 2: But you know, you guys saw him too.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Like the first nine starts that he threw this year
- 17:58Speaker 3: for the Mets, he is their best starter. Like he pitched,
- 18:01Speaker 3: He'll pitched Baralta. He I'll pitched McClain even though McLain's
- 18:05Speaker 3: stuff was better. Now, you know, I'll take McLain for
- 18:09Speaker 3: the rest of the season and I'll stay I'll take
- 18:12Speaker 3: Christian Scott for the rest of the season for that matter.
- 18:14Speaker 3: But with Holmes, you know, I think if you're looking
- 18:17Speaker 3: at a team, uh, I don't know, if you look
- 18:20Speaker 3: at any of these teams that need starting pitching, I'll
- 18:22Speaker 3: take Milwaukee and put put him into the mix there,
- 18:26Speaker 3: you know, with with Misarowski and hopefully Harrison, if they
- 18:29Speaker 3: don't get Scoobale, that's pretty good pickup. The Braves would
- 18:32Speaker 3: I think need somebody like him too. He's not a
- 18:35Speaker 3: He's not a big strikeout guy as we know, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 3: look kind of a lower what seven and a half
- 18:40Speaker 3: or seven and almost eight strikeouts per nine, But this
- 18:43Speaker 3: guy will give you five or more innings. He was
- 18:45Speaker 3: he was actually pitching deeper into games, as we saw earlier.
- 18:48Speaker 3: So I think he's a guy that as in let's say,
- 18:50Speaker 3: the game three starter or possibly a game two starter.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I think he can help a team get to get
- 18:56Speaker 3: to the World Series.
- 18:57Speaker 2: If if that's the case, or certainly you know, have
- 19:00Speaker 2: them compete for the World Series.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Do great stuff, appreciate it, keep bringing it and see
- 19:08Speaker 1: what happens over the next two days.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yes, it's gonna get active tomorrow, man, this is ridiculous.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah, or not all at midnight on like Saturday and Sunday,
- 19:16Speaker 1: which our sport does so weirdly all of the time,
- 19:19Speaker 1: all the gms just after the kids go to bed
- 19:22Speaker 1: and they're just firing in their offices and everybody misses it.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I can I can go all day, you know, you
- 19:27Speaker 1: know the game for sure?
- 19:29Speaker 2: All right, for sure? Do you know what's going to
- 19:30Speaker 2: happen that way too?
- 19:31Speaker 3: All right?
- 19:32Speaker 2: See you guys, it is Saturday night.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Twelve million trades, at twelve o'clock
