- 0:10Speaker 3: Bootleg keV Podcast Special Guests here.
- 0:12Speaker 4: You might see her on TV every day if you
- 0:14Speaker 4: watch FS one. Joy Taylor, Welcome.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Thank you for having me.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Of course, you're super dope. Happened. I've never watched you
- 0:20Speaker 3: on TV for so long.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Like I was like, like, I was just talking to
- 0:23Speaker 4: my boy because we're big sports fans, and I told
- 0:25Speaker 4: him you were coming on the show.
- 0:26Speaker 3: He's like, yo, Joy's fire.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Hi you Yeah, you've been a staple on television for
- 0:32Speaker 4: you just said six it's been six years.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I've been at Fox for seven years.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Okay, so I just gets six and a.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Half years because we launched Undisputed about six and a
- 0:41Speaker 2: half years ago. Okay, six and a half years in September.
- 0:44Speaker 3: So you were born in Pittsburgh, yes, but do you
- 0:47Speaker 3: claim Miami?
- 0:48Speaker 2: So this is how it breaks down. I was born
- 0:50Speaker 2: and raised in Pittsburgh, right, So I lived there until
- 0:52Speaker 2: I was eighteen. Still have to on a family there,
- 0:55Speaker 2: like you know, four and two forever obviously, right, But
- 0:57Speaker 2: I went to school in Miami, So I kind of
- 1:01Speaker 2: say I was like born and raised in Pittsburgh and
- 1:05Speaker 2: then like became a woman in Miami, right, and then
- 1:08Speaker 2: obviously now I'm in LA and I've been in LA
- 1:09Speaker 2: for seven years, so La is like home now too.
- 1:12Speaker 3: And then your brother's like a Dolphin's legend.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so Jason, Well, I had like gotten introduced to
- 1:18Speaker 2: Miami obviously through my brothers and like growing up in Pittsburgh,
- 1:20Speaker 2: not just like randomly hopping down to Miami, but yeah,
- 1:24Speaker 2: like that's how I became aware with the the the area, right,
- 1:28Speaker 2: and what made me want to end up going to
- 1:30Speaker 2: school down there. So yeah, he played for Miami for
- 1:33Speaker 2: thirteen years, legend in the NFL for fifteen years, and
- 1:36Speaker 2: first ballot Hall of Famer.
- 1:37Speaker 4: First ballot. You did you end up starting like your broadcast?
- 1:41Speaker 4: I think I saw you started your broadcast career in
- 1:42Speaker 4: Miami at a station out there.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah. So I started in radio me too.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I'm still on the radio every day.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I love radio. I started in radio in two
- 1:51Speaker 1: thousand and seven.
- 1:55Speaker 4: I started in radio and five. So we're the same age.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I just yeah, I saw you were born in eighty seven.
- 2:00Speaker 4: I've been same age.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So yeah eighties babies.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so I wanted to start in radio, so you
- 2:05Speaker 2: will know this. Also, you know, shows and podcasts and
- 2:09Speaker 2: YouTube shows and digital shows did not exist, of course,
- 2:13Speaker 2: you know. I was in college when we were coming
- 2:14Speaker 2: up in the business. If you wanted to be a personality,
- 2:17Speaker 2: really radio was the way to go, especially if you
- 2:19Speaker 2: wanted to talk and with sports. It was just around
- 2:22Speaker 2: that time that the you know, first takes and call
- 2:27Speaker 2: in show and all you know those PTI we're really
- 2:30Speaker 2: starting to take off and the direction of the business
- 2:33Speaker 2: was changing to more opinion shows than it was just
- 2:37Speaker 2: a traditional sports center recap shows. That's because of phones,
- 2:41Speaker 2: we were had more access to highlights, so.
- 2:44Speaker 4: We could see all that if we wanted to on
- 2:46Speaker 4: Facebook or Twitter, right, we don't.
- 2:47Speaker 2: We don't have to wait for it for Sports Center,
- 2:49Speaker 2: which you used to have to do. So it shifted
- 2:51Speaker 2: the business. So I wanted to be able to talk.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I wasn't really interested in being a reporter beat writer,
- 2:57Speaker 2: and radio was a space to get into the give
- 3:00Speaker 2: you that opportunity. So I started in sports radio at
- 3:03Speaker 2: five sixty q AM in Miami. That was my first internship.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Wow, interning is in radio for people who don't know,
- 3:08Speaker 4: at least back then. I'm sure it's rough, because did
- 3:12Speaker 4: you You probably didn't get paid anything. No, because back then
- 3:14Speaker 4: I got paid nothing. No, you should just be happy
- 3:17Speaker 4: to be here.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. It was being paid and happy to
- 3:19Speaker 1: be here. No, I mean I didn't. I did it
- 3:21Speaker 1: for school credit.
- 3:22Speaker 4: It's obviously, right, that's the cat get Yeah. I actually
- 3:25Speaker 4: was not going to college, but I had to go
- 3:27Speaker 4: to college to work at the radio station. So my
- 3:30Speaker 4: college career only exists because I had to go to
- 3:34Speaker 4: college to get credit to work at the radio station.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I feel like we've evolved past all of that now, Yes,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and the media role has expanded so much that that
- 3:43Speaker 2: doesn't really exist. But at the time it was just
- 3:45Speaker 2: really traditional media forms writing, you know, newspapers, radio, television.
- 3:50Speaker 3: You're setting up tents and stuff.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, I mean you got to do the
- 3:53Speaker 2: promo stuff, you got to hand out.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I go to the promo events, you know, get coffee,
- 4:01Speaker 2: do the rundowns, whatever. But it actually got great experience interning.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Not all internships are great, and it's the world of
- 4:10Speaker 2: interning has completely changed since we were interurning, obviously, but
- 4:12Speaker 2: I also got the intern for DJ Laz who was
- 4:15Speaker 2: on Power ninety six Legeny Legend out DJ LAS. So
- 4:19Speaker 2: my first internship was with Joe Rose at five sixty
- 4:21Speaker 2: q AM, and that was a sports morning show. And
- 4:24Speaker 2: then I was able to get an internship through constantly
- 4:27Speaker 2: poking my head in bothering.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Lass and Meta. That was when he was doing mornings
- 4:31Speaker 3: AT's Power ninety six.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yes, so I got an internship there and worked past
- 4:36Speaker 2: my school internship and you know, just did the internship
- 4:38Speaker 2: for free whatever. But I got incredible experience and I
- 4:41Speaker 2: really learned how to produce shows from working with Laz
- 4:44Speaker 2: because sports and entertainment crossover so much. Sure, and we
- 4:48Speaker 2: would obviously talk about the local teams, but obviously we're
- 4:50Speaker 2: doing a morning show as well, so you got to,
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know, see what the internet is talking about, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 2: what's going on locally.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Is there something in town.
- 4:56Speaker 2: We'd always have music guests in, you know, act all kinds.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Of difference, always like rappers want to be athletes and
- 5:02Speaker 4: athletes want to be rappers.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean there's a lot of crossover in
- 5:06Speaker 2: the culture, especially in Miami.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean really everywhere.
- 5:09Speaker 2: It's there's just a lot of crossover with culture and sports,
- 5:14Speaker 2: right and it's it's really throughout all of society, though
- 5:18Speaker 2: it's not even really with just with music. Sports are
- 5:20Speaker 2: such a big part of our existence, and I think
- 5:22Speaker 2: we really got a whole acknowledgement of that when we
- 5:27Speaker 2: lost sports during the pandemic.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I was I was gambling on South Korean baseball?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah, who wasn't we needed something live on TV.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It really for me, it will always make me appreciate
- 5:40Speaker 2: just being able to turn a game on during the
- 5:42Speaker 2: regular season that we might be like, oh, it doesn't
- 5:44Speaker 2: really matter. Just having that sense of normalcy taken away
- 5:48Speaker 2: from you was really jarring. So, but sports are just
- 5:51Speaker 2: a big part of our lives.
- 5:53Speaker 3: What was it like for you because you guys were
- 5:55Speaker 3: still doing TV? Right?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:57Speaker 3: So that I mean because there's like.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Downtimes in the sports calendar where there's I want to say,
- 6:03Speaker 4: there's like a patch that we're about to approach.
- 6:05Speaker 1: We are very close to hers.
- 6:07Speaker 4: And then all you got is baseball, which I'm not
- 6:09Speaker 4: the hugest baseball fan. I don't know where you are
- 6:11Speaker 4: on baseball, but I'm not very passionate about baseball.
- 6:14Speaker 3: But it's like the dark times, it's like.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Waiting for NFL, like Okay, what kind of nerdy shit
- 6:19Speaker 4: is going on in the NFL that we can hear about.
- 6:22Speaker 4: But I can only imagine during the pandemic, there's like
- 6:26Speaker 4: nothing I would be listening to, like Bill Simmons and shit,
- 6:29Speaker 4: and they would just be talking about the Michael Jordan
- 6:31Speaker 4: that documentary.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah saved us.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So Colin and I joke about it all the time
- 6:35Speaker 2: because we didn't really take any time off and we
- 6:39Speaker 2: did our regular show, which is five days a week,
- 6:43Speaker 2: three hours a day.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Every day during the pandemic pandemic with.
- 6:48Speaker 1: No live sports.
- 6:50Speaker 2: So luckily the timing of the shutdown for our show
- 6:55Speaker 2: matched up with the ends of the NFL season. So
- 6:59Speaker 2: THEFL season had gotten in, we got through the Super Bowl,
- 7:02Speaker 2: and it was it was, you know, NFL off season.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So even though the NBA shut down, we still had
- 7:08Speaker 2: a lot of content going on with NFL off season
- 7:11Speaker 2: because the NFL just moves forward with the idea that like,
- 7:13Speaker 2: we're going to get through this and play the season.
- 7:15Speaker 4: I think in that off season, DeAndre Hopkins got traded
- 7:18Speaker 4: to my Cardinals for scrapped.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Tom Brady moved by, It was a lot of Aaron
- 7:22Speaker 2: Rodgers stuff. There was a bunch of Cam Newton News.
- 7:25Speaker 2: So we just kind of I mean, we repeated a
- 7:27Speaker 2: lot of topics, but we once we got to the
- 7:29Speaker 2: doc that's really when we were like, we need something
- 7:33Speaker 2: to talk about, right, It's.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Like it's live.
- 7:38Speaker 2: We also watched it like that, like everyone was so
- 7:41Speaker 2: dying for sports content that we really and there were
- 7:45Speaker 2: some reveals in it, for sure, but for them we
- 7:48Speaker 2: were watching it like, oh my god, what's going to happen?
- 7:51Speaker 1: Like the bulls go? When we really watched it like
- 7:54Speaker 1: it was live.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But it was a great experience in that sense, like
- 7:57Speaker 2: there were some things that really kind of all brought
- 7:59Speaker 2: us together as sports and that documentary.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I mean, and I'd say this, it gave us content.
- 8:03Speaker 4: So yeah, you okay being a part of Skip Bayless
- 8:08Speaker 4: he leaves ESPN. Obviously, him and stephen A. Smith have
- 8:12Speaker 4: this legendary show for all these years. Somehow the magic
- 8:16Speaker 4: gets recreated, but in my opinion, much better. I think
- 8:20Speaker 4: him and Shannon are. I just love them together more
- 8:23Speaker 4: than I loved the stephen A thing. But you're there
- 8:27Speaker 4: on day one because that that's a big I remember
- 8:30Speaker 4: how big of a deal it was that Skip left,
- 8:33Speaker 4: and it was just like, oh, there's something going on here,
- 8:36Speaker 4: and you're kind of you're there, so like, what was
- 8:39Speaker 4: it like early early when it comes to just seeing
- 8:43Speaker 4: those two form their chemistry and just that whole entire
- 8:46Speaker 4: time and sports media.
- 8:47Speaker 2: It was a really incredible experience, especially to be the
- 8:50Speaker 2: part of, like you said, a big story and launch.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It's always cool to launch a show, but when you're
- 8:57Speaker 2: launching a show with Hall of Famer and Shannon Sharp
- 9:01Speaker 2: and Skip Bayless, like the Skip Bayless and everyone's watching
- 9:05Speaker 2: to see what the chemistry is going to be like
- 9:07Speaker 2: and how's it going to look, and you know, is
- 9:09Speaker 2: it gonna work? Are they gonna get ratings? And it
- 9:12Speaker 2: was It was really a wild thing to be a
- 9:13Speaker 2: part of. We shot a bunch of commercials, there were
- 9:15Speaker 2: all these promo shoots, and there's these billboards and you know,
- 9:19Speaker 2: stories going on, and it was also the first time
- 9:23Speaker 2: that we had done a show together, so that part
- 9:26Speaker 2: of it also like behind the scenes, getting into the
- 9:29Speaker 2: beats of a show as as structured as a debate
- 9:34Speaker 2: show in that format is a whole other challenge to
- 9:38Speaker 2: do because, as you know, because he did on that show,
- 9:42Speaker 2: and you have to be able to balance what we're
- 9:45Speaker 2: talking about is just about this and not personal, And
- 9:49Speaker 2: then you have to move the show along and you're
- 9:50Speaker 2: kind of like, well, I'm moving everything. So like we
- 9:54Speaker 2: got to get to commercial break, like when do I
- 9:56Speaker 2: jump in and cut him off so that he feels
- 9:58Speaker 2: like he's had everything he had to say. So there's
- 10:00Speaker 2: a lot of moving parts, but it was it was
- 10:02Speaker 2: an amazing experience.
- 10:03Speaker 1: We traveled a lot.
- 10:04Speaker 2: We went to McGregor fight in New York. We were
- 10:06Speaker 2: at the McGregor Mayweather fight, we were at the US Open,
- 10:08Speaker 2: we were at the NBA Finals in Cleveland, the NBA
- 10:11Speaker 2: Finals in Oakland, the super Bowl. So it was a
- 10:14Speaker 2: really incredible, incredible launch and it was a great experience
- 10:16Speaker 2: working with both of them. And I mean we had
- 10:18Speaker 2: a lot of fun on that show.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Is do you think Skip gets a bad rep sometimes
- 10:22Speaker 4: because he genuinely, to me, comes off like a nice guy,
- 10:24Speaker 4: like he's I just think that you know, he's so
- 10:27Speaker 4: dug in on some of his.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I mean, he's an opinionist. So I don't ever tell
- 10:31Speaker 2: people how to how they should feel about anyone. I
- 10:34Speaker 2: know what my experiences are with them. Skip's always been
- 10:36Speaker 2: extremely generous with me, a great mentor. He's given me
- 10:41Speaker 2: some great advice over the years. He's gives strong opinions
- 10:48Speaker 2: and sometimes most of the time people are going to
- 10:51Speaker 2: disagree with your opinion. That's what the opinion space is.
- 10:54Speaker 2: So I don't really find that it's particularly unique to
- 10:57Speaker 2: just Skip, because I've worked with Skip, and I've worked
- 11:00Speaker 2: with Shannon, and I've worked with Colin, and I work
- 11:02Speaker 2: with other opinionists now and I worked with big personalities
- 11:05Speaker 2: in Miami. That's what you're doing if you're giving your opinion.
- 11:08Speaker 2: The reality is most people aren't gonna like what you
- 11:10Speaker 2: have to say. I mean, I deal with it now.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I get my opinion every day. I know people aren't
- 11:14Speaker 2: going to like what I have to say sometimes, and
- 11:16Speaker 2: that's fine because that's what my opinion is.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Now.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I think my delivery is maybe a little cheek.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Here that skiffs, but you know, that's that's his style,
- 11:24Speaker 2: and he's he's okay with people disagreeing with him.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Were you there the first time Shannon pulls out a
- 11:30Speaker 4: goat mask on TV?
- 11:33Speaker 2: I think it was yes, yes, because we actually ended
- 11:37Speaker 2: up bringing in an actual goat into studio one time,
- 11:40Speaker 2: so it had to have been after the goat mask
- 11:42Speaker 2: because he was wearing the jersey the first time. I
- 11:44Speaker 2: see He's worn it so many times I've lost track,
- 11:47Speaker 2: but I think the first time he had a jersey on.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and and and then he had the goat masks
- 11:52Speaker 4: and they had a goat mask.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yes, and then yes and then he.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Because we brought an actual goat into the studio, like
- 11:57Speaker 2: a real actual goat, so that had to have been
- 11:59Speaker 2: after it.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I just love like how he'll bring weed on the
- 12:02Speaker 4: set and he'll be like, skip.
- 12:03Speaker 3: This is I'm just like, this is.
- 12:06Speaker 4: This is amazing, Like like if you would have told
- 12:09Speaker 4: me like ten years ago that sharp Wood was.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Going to be bringing some some tree on the side.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Some tree and cognac on live TV.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's just we have a.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Lot of ability to really dig into our personalities over there,
- 12:20Speaker 2: which is fun.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Like you can really you can really be yourself. And
- 12:24Speaker 1: that's that's what people relate to, is when you are
- 12:28Speaker 1: enjoying yourself.
- 12:30Speaker 2: You know, it's television or you're doing an interview or anything,
- 12:32Speaker 2: you're always going to be up a little bit, you know.
- 12:34Speaker 2: It's not like when you're showing at your house having
- 12:36Speaker 2: a conversation. But people want to enjoy the show. You know,
- 12:41Speaker 2: especially with a show that you're being very combative and
- 12:44Speaker 2: you're having really serious conversations sometimes and you're having really
- 12:48Speaker 2: deep arguments and debate, you add a little lightness to
- 12:51Speaker 2: it every once in a while, you know, do a
- 12:52Speaker 2: little do a little gloating, you know, pay the pay
- 12:55Speaker 2: the Man and diet Mountain dew and you know, and
- 12:58Speaker 2: enjoy the show.
- 13:00Speaker 4: You obviously go from that to more of like a real,
- 13:03Speaker 4: real co host role with Colin. And I always tell
- 13:06Speaker 4: people I've been a huge Colin Cowhard fan forever because
- 13:08Speaker 4: I'm a radio nerd, and I always would just admire
- 13:12Speaker 4: his ability to go off without anyone to bounce stuff
- 13:16Speaker 4: off of, because like you could listen to him on
- 13:18Speaker 4: the radio like when I was like younger, and I'd
- 13:20Speaker 4: be like, this guy, it's just him in there, just
- 13:22Speaker 4: like just talking and it's like really entertaining, which is
- 13:25Speaker 4: really hard. As you know, because you've been a part
- 13:27Speaker 4: of radio for so long. I think you guys had
- 13:29Speaker 4: such a dope dynamic on the show as you kind
- 13:31Speaker 4: of being his number two. What is it like, Because
- 13:34Speaker 4: I'm a huge Colin Coward fan, what's he like as
- 13:36Speaker 4: a guy? And just like what's it like working with him,
- 13:37Speaker 4: Because you guys had a great run before you went
- 13:39Speaker 4: to speak for yourself and kick your own thing off.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Colin's the best. He is.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I'm a radio nerd too, so you'll appreciate this. He's
- 13:47Speaker 2: a huge prepper. Yeah, so he does a two hour
- 13:51Speaker 2: prep show before the three hour show, right, so there's
- 13:55Speaker 2: a lot of prep. He's very thorough. He wants to
- 13:58Speaker 2: make sure he has the graphics. He wants to support
- 14:02Speaker 2: what he's talking about. He wants to make sure that
- 14:03Speaker 2: he has the sound, he wants to support what he's
- 14:05Speaker 2: talking about. He wants to make sure he has the
- 14:06Speaker 2: statistics he's looked up, you know, the historical stuff that
- 14:10Speaker 2: goes along with what he's saying.
- 14:11Speaker 1: He really talks.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Through all of the topics. So his ability to you know,
- 14:18Speaker 2: stretch a subject the way that you're talking about and
- 14:21Speaker 2: continue to have the conversation with you the listener. But
- 14:26Speaker 2: by himself, I mean his brain works differently to be
- 14:29Speaker 2: able to do that anyway. But it really also helps
- 14:32Speaker 2: that he preps a lot. He doesn't like to waste airtime,
- 14:35Speaker 2: so sometimes sometimes it depends on the show obviously, but
- 14:38Speaker 2: we'll do a little banter back and forth, whatever about
- 14:41Speaker 2: you know, being in wine country or whatever.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm going to Utah. But it's never too long.
- 14:47Speaker 2: You know. We don't let that conversation be the conversation
- 14:49Speaker 2: we're having in this segment. Right, he always brings it
- 14:51Speaker 2: back to, Okay, what do we want to get to here?
- 14:53Speaker 2: We're gonna we're going to get Aaron Rodgers here.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Like we can.
- 14:56Speaker 2: We can go a little bit off to make sure
- 14:58Speaker 2: that people know that we're human beings. But but we
- 15:00Speaker 2: got to talk about what we planned on talking about.
- 15:02Speaker 2: He's very, very serious about the show. He feels like
- 15:05Speaker 2: it's disrespectful to the audience to not be prepared to
- 15:08Speaker 2: do a show.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I love it.
- 15:09Speaker 2: So that's what that's really what makes him great and
- 15:11Speaker 2: able to do such a big show, because three hours
- 15:14Speaker 2: of content is a long ass show.
- 15:17Speaker 3: For sure.
- 15:18Speaker 2: In our business, that is an insanely long show. And
- 15:20Speaker 2: he does it as his show, so he can do
- 15:24Speaker 2: all of that by himself if he needs to.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Obviously for you, because you have your your solo podcast.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I haven't done the podcast for a while, but I
- 15:33Speaker 1: have one forth.
- 15:34Speaker 4: But while you were doing the Cowhart Show, you had
- 15:36Speaker 4: your your show, right, was the upside for you to
- 15:41Speaker 4: leave the Skip and Shanton Show, which is the biggest
- 15:43Speaker 4: show on the network to go to Colin. Was it
- 15:45Speaker 4: because you were able to have like, because you had
- 15:47Speaker 4: your own segment every day, were you able to kind
- 15:48Speaker 4: of like you were able to get your shit off?
- 15:50Speaker 4: You know?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it was the upside or like what made you
- 15:53Speaker 3: want to make that move?
- 15:54Speaker 2: It was partly, you know, obviously a different role, in
- 15:57Speaker 2: a more expanded speaking role. When I when I first
- 16:00Speaker 2: went to Collin, it was still just you know, the
- 16:03Speaker 2: news updates. He'd bring me in here and there, but like,
- 16:06Speaker 2: it took a little time for us to build up
- 16:09Speaker 2: the muscle of him being able to just lean on
- 16:11Speaker 2: me when he needed to, like this trust in chemistry.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I had done the show a lot, so I had
- 16:14Speaker 2: already knew the beats of the show because I was
- 16:16Speaker 2: fill in on her a lot when I was doing Undisputed,
- 16:19Speaker 2: So we already knew how to do the show together.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But what the show was going to feel like together
- 16:23Speaker 2: just took a little time, and us doing it from
- 16:25Speaker 2: home during the pandemic.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Actually really helped us a lot because we just had
- 16:29Speaker 1: to talk, that is all we had to do.
- 16:31Speaker 3: We have nothing else going on with Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 2: But for me, you know, my goal was always to
- 16:36Speaker 2: be in the role that I'm in now, and it
- 16:40Speaker 2: was important to me to always keep growing in the business.
- 16:43Speaker 2: So I did two years of Undisputed, and I felt
- 16:46Speaker 2: like I had you know, mastered that role, and there
- 16:49Speaker 2: were you know, I'd kind of hit the ceiling of
- 16:51Speaker 2: how much better I was going to get at that role,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and I was ready to try something different and you know,
- 16:56Speaker 2: get into a new challenge and a different type of show.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So it was never like.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I didn't want to work with them or anything like
- 17:02Speaker 2: I love skiping Shannon and love doing that show. It
- 17:04Speaker 2: was just time for me to go to a new role,
- 17:06Speaker 2: something new York.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 2: And similarly, that's why I made the jump to speak
- 17:10Speaker 2: after a callin YO.
- 17:11Speaker 3: What Up's Bootleg keV.

- 19:44Speaker 3: Let's get back to the interview.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yeahuys gonna say, like, for you, you're one of I mean,
- 19:47Speaker 4: there's amazing uh female personalities in the sports world. You're
- 19:53Speaker 4: one of the only women who has kind of a
- 19:57Speaker 4: main role on a debate show at this point. You're
- 20:00Speaker 4: not just like kind of move like you said, moving
- 20:02Speaker 4: the segment along. You're you know, you're you're there as
- 20:05Speaker 4: somebody who gives your opinion every day. For you, has
- 20:07Speaker 4: it been like you know, I do think sports fans
- 20:11Speaker 4: for the most part can be kind of misogynistic in
- 20:14Speaker 4: terms of like the sexism and shit like that. But
- 20:18Speaker 4: you've done a really good job of like navigating what
- 20:21Speaker 4: I would say, Like for me when I was in radio,
- 20:23Speaker 4: it's like you start off as an intern, then you'd
- 20:24Speaker 4: maybe do weekends and you've kind of built your way
- 20:27Speaker 4: up to having your own show. Now, how hard is
- 20:30Speaker 4: that being a female and doing sports like cause you
- 20:33Speaker 4: are I mean, you can correct me if I'm wrong,
- 20:35Speaker 4: But are you like one of the only females who actually.
- 20:38Speaker 1: In the opinion space.
- 20:39Speaker 2: There's very few of us, I don't want to misspeak,
- 20:42Speaker 2: but maybe one or two, but do daily like are
- 20:46Speaker 2: on the show every day as an opinion show that's
- 20:49Speaker 2: not directed towards a specific sport, right, which you know,
- 20:54Speaker 2: I would love.
- 20:55Speaker 1: For there to be more.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Right, It's never my goal to be the only one.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It's yeah, I mean, my career has always.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Been growing and adding to my resume and the process.
- 21:08Speaker 2: So like you said, I started as an unpaid intern
- 21:11Speaker 2: in Miami, and then I was like a full time intern,
- 21:15Speaker 2: and then a part time producer, and then a full
- 21:18Speaker 2: time producer, and then you're a freelancer on the side
- 21:20Speaker 2: while you're producing, and you know, you kind of always
- 21:23Speaker 2: have multiple jobs in this business also, But yeah, I
- 21:27Speaker 2: mean I've I've earned my way up and built my
- 21:30Speaker 2: way up. But also I don't know, I think I
- 21:35Speaker 2: think it's all in how you not all in? But
- 21:37Speaker 2: partly for me, it's been learning from the people and
- 21:42Speaker 2: the personalities that I worked with.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Skip is very.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Different than Colin, is very different than Shannon, is very
- 21:49Speaker 2: different than Nmmanuel is very different than shady is different
- 21:51Speaker 2: than lads, like different than Zasla and Miami. Everyone has
- 21:54Speaker 2: different things they bring to the table. But you're gonna
- 21:56Speaker 2: get criticized no matter what you do. You're gonna get
- 21:58Speaker 2: criticized more.
- 21:59Speaker 1: If you're a woman.
- 22:00Speaker 2: You're gonna get criticized more if you're a black woman.
- 22:02Speaker 2: So for me, the misogyny and you know, people even
- 22:07Speaker 2: I mean today, you can go look on my social media.
- 22:09Speaker 2: There's somebody's gonna say I shouldn't be there because I'm
- 22:11Speaker 2: a girl, because Jason's or whatever. Like yeah, those people
- 22:14Speaker 2: don't sign checks, so who gives an They just they don't.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Those people don't make decisions, They don't move the needle
- 22:19Speaker 2: because for the most part, people are watching and enjoying
- 22:22Speaker 2: good content, entertaining content, educated, opinionated content that they resonate with.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I'm not saying things that don't make sense. If you
- 22:33Speaker 2: disagree with me, it's easy to say you disagree with
- 22:35Speaker 2: me because I'm a girl, But then you're gonna run
- 22:37Speaker 2: into somebody else that says that that's a man, and
- 22:38Speaker 2: now what are you gonna do? So it doesn't really
- 22:41Speaker 2: I've also have a built up a very thick skin
- 22:45Speaker 2: for it.
- 22:45Speaker 3: But I've seen you snap back at trolls before.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I say, I'm in retirement now mostly because Twitter
- 22:51Speaker 2: is just not as fun as it used to be, Like,
- 22:54Speaker 2: it just doesn't provide the same same level of entertainment
- 22:57Speaker 2: for me anymore. But yeah, I mean, I don't I'm
- 23:00Speaker 2: happy to you know, embarrass somebody or you know, ruin
- 23:03Speaker 2: someone's day, for sure, But for me, it's more about
- 23:08Speaker 2: it's more about letting people know this isn't this isn't
- 23:11Speaker 2: really actually affecting me, and it does certain people. How
- 23:15Speaker 2: you approach social media for everybody in the business is
- 23:18Speaker 2: an important conversation you have to have with yourself, right
- 23:20Speaker 2: And to me, I'm like, if you wouldn't come to
- 23:23Speaker 2: my face and say this to my face.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Which we know you would not do that.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Of course you're not going to do that for sure.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I can't take you your criticism seriously in any capacity.
- 23:33Speaker 2: If you if I wouldn't ask for your advice, I
- 23:35Speaker 2: don't care about your criticism.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Right, That's that's some real shit. I think everybody should
- 23:39Speaker 3: have that.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's not easy to develop that though,
- 23:42Speaker 1: I mean it's there, it's easy.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Lets you get to you too, Like, even if you
- 23:47Speaker 4: don't think like consciously, it's happening subconsciously you think about that.
- 23:50Speaker 2: STUFFE Well, the subconscious part is the interesting part, because
- 23:53Speaker 2: I think everybody has a different capacity to deal with feedback.
- 23:57Speaker 2: The reality is we know too much about each other.
- 23:59Speaker 2: We should not know as much about each other in society,
- 24:02Speaker 2: and we all get too much feedback, good and bad.
- 24:05Speaker 2: So ten thousand people can tell me I'm right and
- 24:06Speaker 2: ten thousand people can tell me I'm wrong in one day.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Neither one of them are changing my spirits.
- 24:11Speaker 1: It's just not a good habit to have.
- 24:13Speaker 2: It's kind of like being an athlete, Like you can't
- 24:16Speaker 2: you can't get so down because you lost a game
- 24:18Speaker 2: that you can't focus on the next game.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Right, or miss a shot, or if you throw an
- 24:22Speaker 4: interception you go to you know, you gotta come back
- 24:24Speaker 4: and be a golfish.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So that's just how I approach it. But I feel
- 24:28Speaker 1: like it's.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Important for everybody to find their own way to deal
- 24:31Speaker 2: with that kind of feedback.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Now that you're giving your opinions on TV every day.
- 24:36Speaker 4: We've seen a lot of athletes have very thin skin, right,
- 24:40Speaker 4: We've seen athletes have public beefs with Skip a thousand times.
- 24:44Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, we could go on and on
- 24:46Speaker 4: the list. Have you had had I'm not going to
- 24:49Speaker 4: ask you to name a name or anything, but have
- 24:50Speaker 4: you had anybody hit you or find out that maybe
- 24:54Speaker 4: you had said something that had them a little pissed off?
- 24:58Speaker 1: Honestly, I'm sure it's happens.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Maybe, but you're not like mean.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I feel like sometimes like I feel like a lot
- 25:04Speaker 4: of times people might take some of the things Skips
- 25:06Speaker 4: say is like he's like being mean, right, I feel
- 25:08Speaker 4: like you.
- 25:08Speaker 1: You have well delivery. Delivery can kind of change livery matters.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Although I have been told I don't have this soft,
- 25:13Speaker 2: this delivery I think and look, I mean, it may
- 25:16Speaker 2: very well happen. I don't really call it thin skin.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I don't really believe that athletes have to hear about
- 25:24Speaker 2: themselves all day long and not ever say anything to anybody,
- 25:28Speaker 2: Like if you have something to say to a media member,
- 25:31Speaker 2: say it. You know, I don't, it's not gonna it's
- 25:33Speaker 2: not gonna make me think you're soft. I get a
- 25:36Speaker 2: lot of feedback all day long, but for the most part,
- 25:39Speaker 2: people aren't doing shows about what I do. You know,
- 25:43Speaker 2: so it's it's it's a bit of an imbalance there
- 25:47Speaker 2: when it comes to media and athletes. And also I
- 25:50Speaker 2: consider it a massive privilege to be able to talk
- 25:52Speaker 2: about sports and give my opinion about sports for a living.
- 25:56Speaker 2: So you know, these these athletes are are one percent
- 26:01Speaker 2: of one percenters in.
- 26:02Speaker 1: What they do. So even if they have a bad night,
- 26:04Speaker 1: they're still doing.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Something absolutely incredible, right that very few people will ever
- 26:10Speaker 2: get the opportunity to do, will ever get the opportunity
- 26:12Speaker 2: to fail at. So yeah, I mean, we give strong opinions,
- 26:16Speaker 2: but for me, I feel like it's always I try
- 26:20Speaker 2: to keep it all in the back of my head.
- 26:21Speaker 2: One not to get too emotional about it, because what
- 26:24Speaker 2: is all this really like? We're not saving lives here,
- 26:27Speaker 2: And two, these are human beings we're talking about, and
- 26:31Speaker 2: they do have feelings and they do put their whole
- 26:33Speaker 2: heart and soul and blood and tears and time with
- 26:36Speaker 2: their family and time with their friends and vacations and
- 26:38Speaker 2: like everything into what they do.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And they get paid for it. But so what people
- 26:43Speaker 1: get paid a.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Lot of money to do a lot of things that's
- 26:45Speaker 2: still taxing on their spirit and still takes time away
- 26:48Speaker 2: from other things that we get to do all the time,
- 26:51Speaker 2: so I just try to keep a human elements in minds.
- 26:55Speaker 2: That's not to say someone might not still get mad
- 26:57Speaker 2: at what I have to say, but may you know
- 27:00Speaker 2: I don't. I don't run into that too much, thankfully.
- 27:03Speaker 4: The one thing Colin does that I always appreciate is
- 27:07Speaker 4: he does his bit where he talks about where he
- 27:09Speaker 4: was wrong. Yes, what does it take that you've been
- 27:11Speaker 4: just absolutely wrong about recently?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Oh?
- 27:13Speaker 2: I mean, I mean I'm wrong all the time. Now,
- 27:18Speaker 2: I mean I am wrong all the time. I'm wrong
- 27:19Speaker 2: about stuff. I've thought that the Lakers would do much better.
- 27:23Speaker 3: In the Nugget series in the Nugget series, and.
- 27:25Speaker 1: They did often.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I mean, listen, there's plenty of people who I'm sure
- 27:29Speaker 2: are going to put in the comments what I was
- 27:31Speaker 2: super wrong about.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I don't focus too much on the things, So maybe
- 27:36Speaker 1: that's that.
- 27:37Speaker 2: But I don't really take predictions too seriously, right, So
- 27:41Speaker 2: maybe that's that's why it's not like as a harsh
- 27:44Speaker 2: thing for me. I love that bit that Colin does, right,
- 27:48Speaker 2: And it's funny because so many people will come up
- 27:50Speaker 2: to me and be like, man, I just Colin will
- 27:52Speaker 2: say he was wrong about something and like.
- 27:53Speaker 1: He does a whole segments every week.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I was gonna say he does it every week.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah, literally, I was wrong all the things that he
- 27:59Speaker 2: was super wrong about. I don't have a problem saying
- 28:02Speaker 2: I'm wrong though, and I don't have a problem changing
- 28:04Speaker 2: my opinion, which is not something that is encouraged to
- 28:09Speaker 2: be practiced in my line of work. But I'm not
- 28:12Speaker 2: going to continue saying something when I have new information. True,
- 28:18Speaker 2: I just don't view that as something that is One
- 28:20Speaker 2: I don't think the audience really appreciates that, and two
- 28:24Speaker 2: I don't think it ends up working out. Like, if
- 28:27Speaker 2: I really feel strongly about something, I won't back off
- 28:29Speaker 2: of it. But if you've like if I've got new information, now.
- 28:33Speaker 3: What's your position that you're just like you're dug in on?
- 28:38Speaker 1: What am I dug in?
- 28:38Speaker 2: Like?
- 28:39Speaker 3: What's your sports? Like? You know? For me, I mean, I.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Absolutely can't stand the Baseball Hall of Fame. I mean,
- 28:43Speaker 2: I just it's it's the most ridiculous setup. It's nonsense.
- 28:48Speaker 2: It infuriates me every time there's a vote. It's it
- 28:51Speaker 2: is a it is a to me, just the fact
- 28:54Speaker 2: exium and it is supposed to tell the story of Baseball.
- 28:58Speaker 4: The fact that Barry Bonds isn't in the Hall of Fame.
- 29:00Speaker 4: I just can't take it serious.
- 29:01Speaker 1: What am I supposed to say about that?
- 29:03Speaker 4: Even if you take the season away where he had
- 29:05Speaker 4: seventy three home runs, he's very Bonds, Like.
- 29:08Speaker 3: What are we talking?
- 29:09Speaker 2: He's had like multiple Hall of Fame careers. So that's
- 29:12Speaker 2: one thing that I'm like, I don't ever want to
- 29:13Speaker 2: hear about the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- 29:14Speaker 1: That drives me absolutely inside.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I never want to hear about baseball.
- 29:19Speaker 4: Gotta stop the interview real quick to tell you about
- 29:21Speaker 4: our family at Blue Chew.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Baby.
- 29:23Speaker 4: That's right, it's getting hot outside. You know what that means,

- 31:43Speaker 2: I am a Michael Jordan zelot so, so you're it'll
- 31:46Speaker 2: be very, very difficult to ever move me off of
- 31:48Speaker 2: the position that Michael is the greatest BA basketball player.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Can you at least agree that the only right answer
- 31:54Speaker 4: to who's the goat is him or Lebron?
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yes?
- 31:58Speaker 2: Okay, but I will also respect someone who puts Kareem
- 32:03Speaker 2: in there.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Kareem would be the only other one.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Like if you're like, if you're like eighty five and
- 32:07Speaker 4: you're like, but you didn't see Kareem's son.
- 32:09Speaker 2: I think it's I mean, the go conversation we've kind
- 32:13Speaker 2: of you know, done at nauseum. And I absolutely respect
- 32:18Speaker 2: Lebron James, and I think it's it's such a gift
- 32:20Speaker 2: that we have been able.
- 32:21Speaker 3: To for advantage.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Sometimes I don't take him for granted. I'll tell you
- 32:25Speaker 2: why I don't take him for granted. One because I'm
- 32:27Speaker 2: a Heat fan, so like, thank you Lebron.
- 32:28Speaker 1: But I was.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Really, you know, it's kind of my feelings about the
- 32:32Speaker 2: Cleveland's era after the Heat. But once he came to
- 32:35Speaker 2: the Lakers, I was like, I'm going to enjoy this, right,
- 32:39Speaker 2: Like I'm not going to Yeah, And also he did
- 32:44Speaker 2: what he wanted to do, and I'm not like I
- 32:46Speaker 2: got championships in Miami because of it and had it
- 32:49Speaker 2: really started my career in Miami in a great way
- 32:52Speaker 2: because he decided to come to the Heat.
- 32:54Speaker 1: But I'm not going to be that person that was like.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Man, I got an opportunity to watch Michael Jordan, but
- 33:00Speaker 2: I just hated him so much.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I just barely came to that with Steph because I
- 33:04Speaker 3: like hate, I like hate the I hate the Warriors. Really,
- 33:07Speaker 3: I just because I'm a diehard. I got a Lebron
- 33:09Speaker 3: toy right there. I'm I'm a diehard Suns fan. But
- 33:13Speaker 3: the Dark Years, as you know, the Dark Years have
- 33:15Speaker 3: been dark recently.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Yeah, so since the Suns have been absolutely cheeks, I've
- 33:20Speaker 4: always just rooted for whatever team Lebron was on. So
- 33:22Speaker 4: I have fucking Heat fan, Cavaliers fan, hate the Lakers,
- 33:27Speaker 4: but rooted for the Lakers in the Bubble year, you know.
- 33:30Speaker 4: But uh, I just the Lebron Steph battles.
- 33:36Speaker 3: That's fair I just saw.
- 33:37Speaker 4: So many fair Weather Warrior fans at the time, I
- 33:40Speaker 4: lived in Florida, I lived in Tampa, and uh, there
- 33:43Speaker 4: was all of a sudden in the middle of the
- 33:45Speaker 4: state of Florida, there's all these Warrior fans.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Well, people like to people like to root for things
- 33:50Speaker 1: that are fun.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you know you're gonna you're gonna.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Get in on the NBA.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Like it's he just gets so much hate and I'm like,
- 33:57Speaker 4: he's such a good guy.
- 33:58Speaker 3: He's never done no weirdo.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I think Lebron is.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I think he is the greatest superstar that we have
- 34:06Speaker 2: ever seen in the history of sports for sure and
- 34:13Speaker 2: possibly like ever in the country. When you think about
- 34:18Speaker 2: the fact that he was in high school high school
- 34:21Speaker 2: was famous in high.
- 34:22Speaker 3: School sports, illustrated.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Coming from that to now being how old is he now?
- 34:29Speaker 2: Forty thirty nine thirty nine years old, played for twenty
- 34:33Speaker 2: one years in the NBA.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Has blemish personally.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Yeah, what's his biggest controversy?
- 34:40Speaker 2: That he made a big announcement that he was going
- 34:43Speaker 2: to play for a better organization after the organization that
- 34:46Speaker 2: had him for seven years couldn't put another player around him?
- 34:50Speaker 3: Exactly?
- 34:50Speaker 2: What's his Oh and by the way, raise millions of
- 34:55Speaker 2: dollars for charity and doing it. What's his big controversy
- 34:59Speaker 2: that he won't speak about China?
- 35:01Speaker 3: Right, that's it? It's all I mean, people, people make
- 35:03Speaker 3: up shot.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I mean, give me a break. This guy's impeccable. He's
- 35:08Speaker 2: elevated everyone around him. He has raised a family like
- 35:14Speaker 2: has an unbelievable family life, has represented the NBA for
- 35:17Speaker 2: twenty years, and in the face and the criticism, like it's.
- 35:21Speaker 1: It's just take a step back.
- 35:23Speaker 2: It's remarkable. It's never been done. You can look at
- 35:27Speaker 2: any superstar we've ever had in sports and music and
- 35:31Speaker 2: entertainment and movies. You're just gonna fall apart at some point.
- 35:34Speaker 2: It's just human nature, like the fact that he hasn't
- 35:37Speaker 2: with all the scrutiny and hate that he constantly gets.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Couldn't be me. Couldn't be me.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Couldn't be me either. Okay, so obviously every day speak
- 35:45Speaker 4: is on. It's just speak now, Yes, to speak, because
- 35:48Speaker 4: it was speak for yourself. Yes, just speak to speak
- 35:51Speaker 4: rebrand new logo.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It's four thirty pm Eastern, one thirty pm West Coast
- 35:59Speaker 2: for thirty pm Eastern.
- 36:00Speaker 1: You know, we do everything for the for the East Coast.
- 36:02Speaker 3: And yeah, what is up with that?
- 36:04Speaker 2: It's so frust it's the East Coast bias. I'll accept
- 36:07Speaker 2: it because I was a East Coast girl for a
- 36:08Speaker 2: long time.
- 36:08Speaker 4: But you must be let's be honest. You had no
- 36:11Speaker 4: idea that he were going to make it as an
- 36:13Speaker 4: eight seed to the finals, did you?
- 36:14Speaker 1: I did not. I did not.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I would be honest. I was always hero went down
- 36:18Speaker 2: holding on to faith because I blindly have faith in
- 36:23Speaker 2: pat Riley and Eric Spolstra. Although I will say this
- 36:27Speaker 2: the Milwaukee series. After the Milwaukee Series, I knew, like
- 36:31Speaker 2: I didn't think that they would get through Milwaukee because
- 36:34Speaker 2: it's Yannice and Milwaukee. And after that series went the
- 36:38Speaker 2: way that it did, then I knew, really, yes.
- 36:41Speaker 3: You thought they would they would get the Celtics.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Well, think about it, un listen, I've done this this
- 36:46Speaker 2: bit like fifteen times this week. But you say you
- 36:50Speaker 2: can't see the Warriors right so much since twenty ten. Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 2: the Warriors have I think one hundred and eight playoff wins.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I'm sure correct me, but I think one hundred and
- 37:02Speaker 2: eight playoff wins the heat of one hundred and six.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Oh no, it's crazy.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Six finals. The Warriors have been to six finals.
- 37:08Speaker 3: It's crazy because we don't think of.
- 37:10Speaker 2: It like that, like they've they've been to the finals
- 37:15Speaker 2: two of the last four years. Yeah, like it was
- 37:19Speaker 2: the Heat and he's never won Coach of the Year
- 37:21Speaker 2: the Heat Bucks Celtics Heat. So the Heat have been
- 37:25Speaker 2: in the finals in the last four years more than
- 37:27Speaker 2: any other team in the East. They were in the
- 37:29Speaker 2: Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics last year in a
- 37:32Speaker 2: game seven, and two years ago beat them in a
- 37:35Speaker 2: game six. So they've met the Celtics in the Eastern
- 37:37Speaker 2: Conference finals three of the last four years and beat
- 37:39Speaker 2: them in.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Two of them. True, it's just it's just it's a
- 37:43Speaker 1: Heat bias.
- 37:43Speaker 2: And I'll tell you what it is. It's it's that man.
- 37:46Speaker 2: People are still mad that Lebron went to the Heat.
- 37:49Speaker 2: They are still mad about it. They didn't hate the
- 37:51Speaker 2: Heat before that. I'm telling you, think about it, Dwayne Wade, Shack,
- 37:56Speaker 2: pat Riley Zoe, like, it's it's Miami was not the
- 38:00Speaker 2: love about it. There's nothing to hate about it. They
- 38:01Speaker 2: didn't get hate until Lebron came there. And no one
- 38:05Speaker 2: has gone over it. And now because it's it's not
- 38:08Speaker 2: the way that people want the team to look. You know,
- 38:11Speaker 2: it's Jimmy And I was like, well, like, Jimmy's not
- 38:14Speaker 2: a regular season superstar he's not an envy right.
- 38:16Speaker 4: He's definitely like a very unique player and the way
- 38:20Speaker 4: he comes alive. I mean, look, he's but I think
- 38:22Speaker 4: he's five times All nbas in his career, you know, the.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Sixth time All Star. I mean, he's a great player,
- 38:28Speaker 2: but he's not a player that people.
- 38:29Speaker 3: He's not flashy's not flash He's not someone.
- 38:31Speaker 2: That yes, they're going to look at and be like,
- 38:33Speaker 2: oh yeah, he's gonna take them to the finals. So
- 38:35Speaker 2: it's not it doesn't look the way people want it
- 38:37Speaker 2: to look.
- 38:37Speaker 4: But I'm just telling you, so all these random dudes
- 38:39Speaker 4: that they got from, like other teams like Caleb Martin
- 38:42Speaker 4: and the Gabe Vincent guy who's.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Under heat the heat with pat Riley and Eric Spolstra
- 38:48Speaker 2: have had a dynasty for.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Since twenty ten.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean yeah, they got.
- 38:53Speaker 1: The only difference is KD had that time with the Warriors.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Oh trust me, I know, and listen, I've had to
- 39:00Speaker 4: come to terms of I hung out with Kevin Durant
- 39:02Speaker 4: during the pandemic once at his house and he was
- 39:04Speaker 4: the nicest guy ever.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he's great, And I was like, damn, I
- 39:08Speaker 3: gotta go on my Twitter account to lead all these
- 39:10Speaker 3: tweets people.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Do you think people will get mad at Lebron? People
- 39:13Speaker 1: get so mad at Katie.
- 39:15Speaker 3: I don't understand.
- 39:15Speaker 4: And then now he's on my sons, So now I'm like, shit,
- 39:20Speaker 4: I bought me a pair of kds.
- 39:22Speaker 2: I love Kevin Durant. I will always root for Kevin Durant.
- 39:25Speaker 2: He is one of my favorite players to watch.
- 39:28Speaker 3: I loved him until he went to the Warriors, and
- 39:30Speaker 3: now I love him again.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I mean, I don't. I had no problem with that.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I think I'm also a bit desensitized to it because
- 39:36Speaker 2: I thought it was so funny how people reacted to
- 39:38Speaker 2: Lebron going to the Heat, so.
- 39:40Speaker 3: We were like, this is nothing, this is well. And
- 39:42Speaker 3: also with.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Kevin Durant, and similar to Lebron, because it was the
- 39:47Speaker 2: same thing, they didn't have a championship with Katie. I
- 39:50Speaker 2: think people have rewritten the narrative a little bit because
- 39:53Speaker 2: of the way that the Thunder lost to.
- 39:56Speaker 3: The Warriors, right because they were up three to one.
- 39:58Speaker 2: People act like Katie took the easy way out.
- 40:03Speaker 1: So he was with the Thunder for like eight years.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Also, he took them to a finals.
- 40:09Speaker 4: He knew something about playing with Russ. I think we
- 40:12Speaker 4: all have been in the loop about recently. I mean,
- 40:15Speaker 4: you know, maybe that was not the worst thing to
- 40:18Speaker 4: leave Russ because Russ it doesn't seem like the.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Easiest guy, and they and they prioritized Russ over Katie
- 40:23Speaker 2: they did. So what are you actually mad about? You're
- 40:26Speaker 2: mad that he went to a great team?
- 40:28Speaker 1: Was he supposed to go to like a bad team?
- 40:30Speaker 2: I don't believe in. I don't believe in like suffer, hustling,
- 40:37Speaker 2: like he doesn't need. He already did his time. He
- 40:40Speaker 2: did seven or eight years in Oklahoma in Oklahoma City,
- 40:45Speaker 2: want a MVP there, went to the finals there and
- 40:48Speaker 2: decided to move on. Why are you mad that he
- 40:51Speaker 2: went to a great team who, by the way, was
- 40:53Speaker 2: so well run Bob Myers now leaving, who knows what
- 40:56Speaker 2: could happen? It was so well run that they had
- 41:00Speaker 2: Klay Thompson, Steph Curry and Draymond Green and could fit
- 41:05Speaker 2: Kevin Durant on that team. So are your team's not
- 41:07Speaker 2: well run?
- 41:08Speaker 3: I got to ask you one last thing because I
- 41:10Speaker 3: know you got to go give me your take on
- 41:12Speaker 3: my Phoenix Suns.
- 41:14Speaker 2: So I well, I just made an impassionate speech for
- 41:18Speaker 2: yet so I'll say with that, I love Booker.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Two. I think I think the coaching is going to
- 41:23Speaker 1: be important. Yeah, I think you're seeing.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I was hoping we were gonna get Nick Nurse, but
- 41:28Speaker 3: he went to Philly.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think the coaching high is gonna
- 41:31Speaker 1: be important.
- 41:31Speaker 3: So it's not Doc Rivers. Please.
- 41:33Speaker 2: The role players are also going to be very important
- 41:36Speaker 2: because you you did give up some depth, and you know,
- 41:38Speaker 2: you give up whatever you need to give up to
- 41:40Speaker 2: get Kevin Durant. But I think they're gonna look a
- 41:43Speaker 2: lot different next year.
- 41:44Speaker 3: I think, no more Ayton, please go give them a lot.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Of grace that probably everybody else doesn't give them because
- 41:49Speaker 2: they looked so good as soon as Katie got there.
- 41:51Speaker 1: But they didn't play a lot together.
- 41:54Speaker 4: So during the regular season they played eight games, and
- 41:57Speaker 4: remember he got hurt, right, And so I'm like, like,
- 42:00Speaker 4: we barely are seeing these guys figure this out. And
- 42:03Speaker 4: also like I love Minny Williams because he's changed the
- 42:06Speaker 4: culture of the Suns.
- 42:06Speaker 3: But yeah, just like zero, like real offense was being ran.
- 42:10Speaker 4: It literally was like all right, book at your turn,
- 42:14Speaker 4: all right, Katie, it's your turn.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but that doesn't surprise me. Because they didn't have enough.
- 42:19Speaker 3: They didn't have enough time.
- 42:21Speaker 1: So I think they're gonna look very different next year.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Definitely they need some depth, right, but once they're in,
- 42:28Speaker 2: you know they're rolling together, they're gonna be a much
- 42:30Speaker 2: harder out. I mean, they still went six with the Nuggets,
- 42:34Speaker 2: who are now in the final, so it's not like
- 42:36Speaker 2: it's you know, you need to hang your head too much.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I know people think Kevin Durant should win a championship
- 42:42Speaker 2: every year, and they were favored, and look I thought
- 42:45Speaker 2: they would go further as well. But I think they're
- 42:47Speaker 2: gonna look very different next year.
- 42:48Speaker 1: It's not over well.
- 42:49Speaker 4: I'm a huge Suns fan. Hopefully we figure it out
- 42:52Speaker 4: to you and hopefully your heat win the finals.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 42:55Speaker 4: I also don't like Denver. I like Jokic, He's just
- 42:59Speaker 4: he's just too good. It's like frustratingly good, like when
- 43:02Speaker 4: you're because I'm a Son's fan watching that motherfucking guy
- 43:04Speaker 4: looks just so out of shape. He's not out of shape,
- 43:07Speaker 4: I know, but he just looks he looks like someone
- 43:10Speaker 4: in my friend group.
- 43:11Speaker 3: You know, they're like, I should you be playing basketball?
- 43:14Speaker 1: Like could like reverse, and he's just so good.
- 43:17Speaker 3: It's just he's just crazy.
- 43:18Speaker 1: It's just he is. He's really he's an he is
- 43:21Speaker 1: an irritatingly good player.
- 43:23Speaker 3: He's so irritatingly good.
- 43:24Speaker 2: But he's so good, he's the next time he's up
- 43:27Speaker 2: for an MVP, there's not gonna be as much pushback
- 43:29Speaker 2: as there was this time.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I know. And it's like I really wanted him be
- 43:32Speaker 3: to win this year.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Me too.
- 43:34Speaker 3: I did because I feel like, Yo, he deserves one,
- 43:36Speaker 3: you know, but damn if if Yogic proved everybody who
- 43:40Speaker 3: voted for a B well.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I mean, it's a regular season award because it is
- 43:44Speaker 2: a regular season award.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And then Yokic kind of took called out for.
- 43:48Speaker 2: It because I always say that, And then I was like, what, Also,
- 43:52Speaker 2: Yokic shouldn't win three in a row because he hasn't
- 43:55Speaker 2: done anything in the postseason yet. I'm like, all right,
- 43:57Speaker 2: well not not not, you'll call me a hypocrite, but
- 44:00Speaker 2: I don't like to play that game though too much.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Listen, it was a regular season award, and B led
