- 0:12Speaker 1: Steve Moore, he's got a wonderful book that you should read.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's called The Trump Economic Miracle. It'll explain a lot
- 0:20Speaker 1: to you. He runs the Committee to Unleash Prosperity. Every
- 0:23Speaker 1: day they put out the best daily briefing and analysis.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You'll love this. It's free. It'll come right to your e-mail.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Sign up. Just go to UnleashProsperity.com. UnleashProsperity.com. Steve Moore, how
- 0:36Speaker 1: are you doing?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Hey, Mark. I'm doing well. Getting ready for the big
- 0:40Speaker 2: elections a month away. 30 days.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Democrats, you know, they're running on affordability. Wasn't it
- 0:45Speaker 1: Donald Trump that first ran on affordability years ago, and
- 0:49Speaker 1: they've stolen his issue from him?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Well, if you look at it, yeah, this is the
- 0:54Speaker 2: issue of the day, and no question about it. And
- 0:57Speaker 2: I think the elections will really... be decided on which
- 1:00Speaker 2: party people think are more, uh, going to give people
- 1:04Speaker 2: a better bang for their buck. Uh, and it's interesting
- 1:07Speaker 2: because if you look at the inflation rates now and
- 1:10Speaker 2: how much things cost, food, housing, uh, gasoline, and so on,
- 1:14Speaker 2: did you know 80% of the increase in the prices
- 1:17Speaker 2: that people are paying, uh, happened under Biden, 80%. So,
- 1:22Speaker 2: you know, that's point number one point. Number two, you know, we, uh,
- 1:26Speaker 2: We've seen incomes in Trump's first two years in office
- 1:32Speaker 2: run ahead of inflation to the tune of about $ 2, 000. Now,
- 1:36Speaker 2: in the last three or four months, that's reversed. And so,
- 1:39Speaker 2: you know, people's paychecks have not kept pace with inflation.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But for the first 14 months, they did. But the
- 1:47Speaker 2: other point I would make is if you look at
- 1:49Speaker 2: the six states that have the highest cost of living,
- 1:53Speaker 2: the least amount of affordability, you know which states those are?
- 1:56Speaker 1: No, let me guess, blue states.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yes, New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Illinois.
- 2:04Speaker 2: So we're going to put, if you're concerned about affordability,
- 2:07Speaker 2: which we all are, you're going to put the people
- 2:09Speaker 2: who can't do anything about affordability in their own states
- 2:12Speaker 2: in power? It doesn't make a lot of sense. I mean,
- 2:15Speaker 2: so Trump cut taxes with his big, beautiful bill. That
- 2:20Speaker 2: was a $ 2, 000 basically pay increase, after-tax pay increase for
- 2:24Speaker 2: workers in Democrats want to get rid of that. They
- 2:28Speaker 2: all voted against that.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Hey, there's a study that came out. 64% of New
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yorkers think we should get rid of the state income
- 2:36Speaker 1: tax and have no state income. What?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Really?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 2:43Speaker 1: That can be done, right? You can do that.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Well, I have not seen that study. You're going to
- 2:48Speaker 2: send that to me, Mark, because that's amazing. What was
- 2:50Speaker 2: the number?
- 2:51Speaker 1: 64% don't want to have state income tax.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Well, I mean, so people might think, gee, well, how
- 2:58Speaker 2: is New York going to survive without a state income tax?
- 3:00Speaker 2: But guess what? We have eight states across the country.
- 3:03Speaker 2: We used to have nine, but Washington just adopted an
- 3:06Speaker 2: income tax. The fool's out there on the West Coast.
- 3:08Speaker 2: But we have eight states today, including New Hampshire, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Wyoming, Nevada,
- 3:17Speaker 2: and one or two others that escape me right now.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I think South Dakota has no income tax either. So
- 3:23Speaker 2: these states, you know, they have roads, they have hospitals,
- 3:26Speaker 2: they have schools, you know, they've got all the public
- 3:31Speaker 2: infrastructure you need. Florida, actually, as you know, we've talked
- 3:34Speaker 2: about this many times on your show, has no income tax.
- 3:37Speaker 2: They spend half as much money on government per capita
- 3:42Speaker 2: as New York does, and yet they have better services
- 3:45Speaker 2: in Florida than they do in New York.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and they have a bigger population. They've got more
- 3:49Speaker 1: major cities than New York does.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yep, yep. So this would be such a shot of
- 3:58Speaker 2: steroids into the butt of the New York economy if
- 4:01Speaker 2: they could do that. It would be such a game changer.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I don't think Kathy Hochul is likely to do that,
- 4:07Speaker 2: but you put the Republicans in, they might go for that.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I mean— It would be so revolutionary. I mean, even
- 4:15Speaker 2: to think about it, if New York added their income tax,
- 4:18Speaker 2: oh my God, you would see so many people reversing.
- 4:21Speaker 2: They're right now on the road going to Georgia or
- 4:24Speaker 2: Alabama or Florida or Texas. They just reverse and they
- 4:28Speaker 2: get back on the highway and go right back to
- 4:29Speaker 2: New York. I mean, New York has lost 2 million people.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You know, New York has lost, their population loss in
- 4:35Speaker 2: the last 12 years exceeds the entire population of Manhattan. What?
- 4:40Speaker 2: Oh my God. Yeah. That's how many people have left.
- 4:45Speaker 2: 2.15 million people have left New York over the last
- 4:47Speaker 2: 10 years.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but wait a minute. If they come back, it's
- 4:51Speaker 1: already crowded. It's already gridlock here. What will we do
- 4:54Speaker 1: with all these people?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's going to be depopulated pretty soon.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And then you've got, you know, the upstate areas in
- 5:02Speaker 2: New York that are getting clobbered by the income tax.
- 5:03Speaker 2: They won't drill for, you know, you've seen those charts
- 5:07Speaker 2: we have in our hotline that show that, amazingly, You've
- 5:12Speaker 2: got all the drilling is going on right on the
- 5:15Speaker 2: Pennsylvania-New York border in Pennsylvania, but none of it's going
- 5:18Speaker 2: on in New York. So they're digging down in Pennsylvania
- 5:22Speaker 2: and they're going laterally underneath New York and taking out
- 5:26Speaker 2: all your oil. Wow.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Hey, and people might not realize, besides the state tax,
- 5:31Speaker 1: we're paying climate tax, aren't we? We're all paying it.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Which tax? Climate tax. We're paying for all this green stuff.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Oh, well, so this is the new thing. This is
- 5:41Speaker 2: very scary. So, you know, the climate movement has sort of,
- 5:45Speaker 2: most people sort of move beyond climate change. It was yesterday's,
- 5:48Speaker 2: you know, scare tactic.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But, you know, they haven't given up on this.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And they've lost elections. And, you know, people go, wait,
- 5:55Speaker 2: you want to raise my gas price to $ 8 a
- 5:57Speaker 2: gallon with all these taxes you want to put on,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you know, energy? So the new thing is, All of
- 6:02Speaker 2: these left-wing interest groups and the trial lawyers are getting together,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and they want to sue Exxon for the fact that
- 6:09Speaker 2: they have a drought in Iowa or for the fact
- 6:13Speaker 2: that they have the forest fires in California and so on. Well,
- 6:17Speaker 2: Exxon didn't do that. They're trying to blame all of these, quote,
- 6:21Speaker 2: climate crises on the Exxon and Chevron and oil companies.
- 6:26Speaker 2: And what worries me, if you get some liberal courts
- 6:29Speaker 2: here in America, they might side with the– with the environmentalists,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and they want to sue these companies for billions and
- 6:38Speaker 2: billions of dollars. Well, if you sue Exxon and Chevron
- 6:42Speaker 2: for billions of dollars, do you think that's going to
- 6:44Speaker 2: lower the price of gasoline?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah. It's just amazing what these politicians get away with.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Well, it used to be like, remember the big payday
- 6:56Speaker 2: that the trial lawyers had was when they sued the
- 6:58Speaker 2: tobacco companies. Remember, that was, what, 30, 40 years ago.
- 7:01Speaker 2: And so they've been waiting for the next tobacco bonanza.
- 7:05Speaker 2: And so now they want to sue the oil companies.
- 7:06Speaker 2: There's one difference. Cigarettes make, you know, kill people. Oil
- 7:11Speaker 2: does not kill people. It makes life on Earth possible. Wow.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Hey, for all this money, this green scheme is raised.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Have they accomplished anything as far as making the environment better?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing that they now admit, you know,
- 7:25Speaker 2: that now they're saying, oh, the temperature is going to
- 7:28Speaker 2: even rise faster than we thought, even after spending trillions
- 7:32Speaker 2: and trillions of dollars on climate change. So it's made
- 7:35Speaker 2: no difference whatsoever. But guess what? It's made a lot
- 7:37Speaker 2: of people very, very rich. And, you know, climate change
- 7:40Speaker 2: is a good business to be in because it's sort
- 7:43Speaker 2: of the it's it's a big racket. And so I
- 7:48Speaker 2: call it the climate change industrial complex. Like we used
- 7:50Speaker 2: to have the military industrial complex. Now it's the climate
- 7:53Speaker 2: change industrial complex.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Nuclear power. We got rid of our nuclear plant here
- 8:00Speaker 1: in New York, thanks to Cuomo. And that was 25%
- 8:01Speaker 1: of our energy. But talk about how Google, there's other
- 8:06Speaker 1: places using small, effective nuclear power.
- 8:12Speaker 2: So this is a really amazing story, the comeback of nuclear.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Do you remember? I think you're old enough to remember, Mark,
- 8:19Speaker 2: the movie China Syndrome.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 2: With Jane Fonda. And I have to say, I mean,
- 8:24Speaker 2: that movie probably single-handedly destroyed the nuclear industry for 30 years.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It scared people. I remember watching it. I don't want
- 8:32Speaker 2: nuclear power. I'm going to get cancer. And so, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 2: it was all basically just fake news. But as a
- 8:40Speaker 2: propaganda tool, it sure worked well. I mean, we didn't
- 8:43Speaker 2: build a nuclear plant for 25 years after that. Well, now,
- 8:47Speaker 2: guess what? For the first time in 30 years, more
- 8:52Speaker 2: Americans favor nuclear power than oppose it. So Americans now
- 8:56Speaker 2: realize it was just a big hoax. And so we
- 8:59Speaker 2: should be building nuclear power. It's a great way to
- 9:01Speaker 2: get energy. We're going to need energy for our you know,
- 9:04Speaker 2: technology future. And, you know, it's clean, it's efficient, it's cheap,
- 9:09Speaker 2: and nuclear plants don't, unlike solar and wind power, which
- 9:12Speaker 2: take up thousands and thousands of acres of land, you know,
- 9:15Speaker 2: nuclear power takes up maybe 20 acres, not 2,000 acres.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's unbelievable.
- 9:23Speaker 2: So Google is building a big nuclear plant now to
- 9:29Speaker 2: help fund and provide the power for the power centers
- 9:33Speaker 2: and these data centers that they need to build around
- 9:37Speaker 2: the country. And that makes a lot of sense to me. Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Well, Steve Moore, great as always. You should get his book,
- 9:44Speaker 1: The Trump Economic Miracle. It'll really explain things to you.
