- 1:08Speaker 3: Live transmission has begun, and we're into the final.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hour of hell.
- 1:32Speaker 13: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack of the
- 1:35Speaker 13: Killers soundtrack. So it's October, at least at the time
- 1:38Speaker 13: of this recording, and I love Halloween, as we've previously
- 1:43Speaker 13: covered in many Halloween episodes on the original recipe show.
- 1:47Speaker 13: But not just the holiday, also just this time of year.
- 1:51Speaker 13: You know, that feel of the autumn air and the
- 1:53Speaker 13: general creepiness that comes along with it. Maybe it's just me,
- 1:57Speaker 13: but once it gets cool and those dead leaves start
- 2:00Speaker 13: dragging along the ground, it's just a very different feeling than,
- 2:05Speaker 13: you know, the rest of the year and the warmer months.
- 2:07Speaker 13: I've always kind of enjoyed that time of year. And
- 2:11Speaker 13: it's synonymous with Halloween. Like, in my mind, they have
- 2:14Speaker 13: all become sort of mashed together together. So, in that
- 2:18Speaker 13: same vein, I also love creepy music, especially the sort
- 2:22Speaker 13: of stuff that ties itself to those horror themes that
- 2:24Speaker 13: we're always talking about anyway. So, I thought, what better
- 2:28Speaker 13: way to celebrate all of these things than to put
- 2:30Speaker 13: together a horrific version of Attack of the Killers soundtrack.
- 2:34Speaker 14: Attack of the Killers.
- 2:45Speaker 13: So as I said, I've always liked horror-themed music. Even
- 2:48Speaker 13: as a kid, I remember buying those compilations of horror
- 2:52Speaker 13: songs and the stuff that you're supposed to play at
- 2:55Speaker 13: your Halloween party. And, you know, who has parties? So
- 2:58Speaker 13: I'd be riding around in my car listening to them.
- 3:01Speaker 13: Not the cheesy sound effects stuff, but the songs that
- 3:05Speaker 13: had sort of tied themselves to it. And a lot
- 3:07Speaker 13: of them were movie-themed and sometimes just general horror-themed and monster-themed.
- 3:12Speaker 13: And I always liked that kind of thing. I think...
- 3:15Speaker 13: I don't know, it just struck a nerve in me
- 3:17Speaker 13: that I'd always thought those were cool and I'd always
- 3:20Speaker 13: gotten into those.
- 3:21Speaker 11: Oh, mark my words, Lou.
- 3:22Speaker 15: There's something creepy about that young man.
- 3:24Speaker 13: So in addition to that, there's sort of a new
- 3:27Speaker 13: level that's come along over the years.
- 3:29Speaker 12: The older creepy music.
- 3:31Speaker 13: And sometimes the further back you go time-wise, the creepier
- 3:36Speaker 13: the music is. Now whether it's meant to be or
- 3:39Speaker 13: that there's just something about things of that time period
- 3:43Speaker 13: that sometimes make it a little creepier. You look at
- 3:45Speaker 13: old photos from that time or even weird movies from
- 3:49Speaker 13: when they first started filming stuff. Sometimes things come across
- 3:52Speaker 13: a little creepier the further back you go. So one
- 3:56Speaker 13: incidence of that being used very well in a film,
- 3:59Speaker 13: I thought, was in 2001's Jeepers Creepers. Now, we've actually
- 4:04Speaker 13: done a whole episode on it, and I even played
- 4:07Speaker 13: this song there, but I've decided to separate those shows.
- 4:11Speaker 13: You know, this is a specific music-themed one, and this
- 4:14Speaker 13: was actually the first song that came to mind when
- 4:17Speaker 13: I thought about doing songs that have been featured in
- 4:19Speaker 13: movies that had a creepy or Halloween sort of theme
- 4:23Speaker 13: to them. So, not necessarily the Jeepers Creeper song itself.
- 4:27Speaker 13: It's funny that the title itself is taken from an
- 4:30Speaker 13: old song. But no, the one that they close out
- 4:32Speaker 13: the movie with It's called Hush, Hush, Hush, Here Comes
- 4:36Speaker 13: the Boogeyman. It's a song written by Lawton, Brown, Smith, Lang,
- 4:39Speaker 13: and Benson, which sounds like a law firm, but it
- 4:42Speaker 13: was recorded in 1932 by British bandleader Henry Hall, which
- 4:46Speaker 13: you'll notice because like a true rap star, he drops
- 4:49Speaker 13: his name in the middle of the song. But vocals
- 4:51Speaker 13: were actually done by Val Rosi. It's just a really
- 4:54Speaker 13: fun song, but it's got such an old, creepy feel.
- 4:57Speaker 13: that it's sort of like that is the soundtrack that
- 4:59Speaker 13: comes up. When you see those old creepy Halloween cartoons,
- 5:04Speaker 13: to me, this is the kind of music that's playing
- 5:06Speaker 13: in the background while the skeletons are dancing around. So
- 5:09Speaker 13: this would be Hush, Hush, Hush, Here Comes the Boogeyman.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Children, have you ever met the bogeyman before? No, of
- 5:28Speaker 1: course you haven't, for you're much too good, I'm sure.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Don't you be afraid of him if he should visit you.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He's a great big coward, so I'll tell you what
- 5:38Speaker 1: to do. Hush, hush, hush. Here comes the bogeyman. Don't
- 5:44Speaker 1: let him come too close to you. He'll catch you
- 5:46Speaker 1: if he can. Just pretend that you're a crocodile. And
- 5:52Speaker 1: you will find that bogeyman will run away a mile.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Say shoo-shoo and stick him with a pin. Bogeyman will
- 6:01Speaker 1: very nearly jump out of his skin Say buzz buzz,
- 6:06Speaker 1: just like the wasp that stings Bogeyman will think you
- 6:10Speaker 1: are an elephant with wings Hush, hush, hush, here comes
- 6:14Speaker 1: the bogeyman Tell him you've got soldiers in your bed
- 6:24Speaker 1: For he will never guess that they are only made
- 6:27Speaker 1: of lead Say, hush, hush, he'll think that you're asleep.
- 6:40Speaker 1: If you make a lovely snore away, he'll softly creep.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Sing this tune, you children, one and all. Bogeyman will
- 6:50Speaker 1: run away, he'll think it's Henry Hall. When the shadows
- 6:54Speaker 1: of the evening creep across the sky, and your mommy
- 6:58Speaker 1: comes upstairs to sing a lullaby. Tell her that the
- 7:02Speaker 1: bogeyman no longer frightens you. Uncle Henry's very kindly told
- 7:07Speaker 1: you what to do.
- 7:08Speaker 13: Hush, hush, hush.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Here comes the bogeyman. Don't let him come too close
- 7:14Speaker 1: to you. He'll catch you if he can. Just pretend
- 7:18Speaker 1: your teddy bear's a dog. Then shout out, fetch him, teddy.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And he'll hop off like a frog. Hey, meow, pretend
- 7:35Speaker 1: that you're a cat. He'll think you made scratch and
- 7:38Speaker 1: that will make him fall down flat. Just pretend he
- 7:43Speaker 1: isn't really there. You will find that bogeyman will finish
- 7:48Speaker 1: him thinner.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Here's one way.
- 7:59Speaker 1: To catch him without fail. Just keep a little salt
- 8:03Speaker 1: with you and.
- 8:05Speaker 14: Put it on his face.
- 8:17Speaker 12: Now it's time for some blaxploitation appreciation.
- 8:20Speaker 11: You're damn right.
- 8:28Speaker 13: That's right, it is time for Blaxploitation Appreciation. You know
- 8:31Speaker 13: it's coming. There is only one way to go with this.
- 8:34Speaker 13: I mean, one main one. There's a few weird times
- 8:36Speaker 13: that Blaxploitation and Horror Cross is over. But there's one
- 8:39Speaker 13: main one, one that comes to mind. We had to
- 8:42Speaker 13: work it in here, and this is the first time
- 8:44Speaker 13: we've done, like, the Halloween edition of Attack of the
- 8:48Speaker 13: Killers soundtrack. So I thought, you know, we have to
- 8:50Speaker 13: get this in here for the first one. Of course,
- 8:53Speaker 13: the Blackula theme. And it's performed by none other than
- 8:55Speaker 13: Gene Page. So this is the Blackula theme, or the Stockwell.
- 9:00Speaker 2: What news today?
- 9:21Speaker 14: Thank you. Thank you.
- 10:07Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 10:50Speaker 16: Thank you.
- 11:13Speaker 14: You shall pay. Black Prince, I curse you with my name.
- 11:42Speaker 11: You shall be.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Black Culler.
- 11:47Speaker 17: Black Culler. The Black Avenger. Rising from his tomb to
- 11:56Speaker 17: fill the night with horror. Black Culler.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Dracula's soul brother.
- 12:06Speaker 17: Deadlier even than he.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You know, he is a strange dude.
- 12:17Speaker 18: You're a nut that ran in front of my cab.
- 12:20Speaker 1: You're the only imbecile on this street.
- 12:23Speaker 14: Boy.
- 12:25Speaker 12: Black killer.
- 12:26Speaker 19: Look at me.
- 12:28Speaker 20: You found me.
- 12:29Speaker 21: He's got to be around here somewhere.
- 12:31Speaker 19: I mean, listen.
- 12:32Speaker 22: Well, you take your hands off of me.
- 12:33Speaker 8: I don't know you.
- 12:34Speaker 17: He thirsts for your blood. He hungers for your soul.
- 12:40Speaker 17: Warm young bodies will feed his hunger. Hot, fresh blood
- 12:45Speaker 17: will quench his awful thirst.
- 12:49Speaker 11: Make it Bloody Mary. Are you into the occult?
- 12:54Speaker 2: No!
- 12:55Speaker 9: How about the heavy stuff?
- 12:59Speaker 11: What do you think of vampires? Vampires? I think they're
- 13:03Speaker 11: possibly the most fascinating of all.
- 13:09Speaker 17: More horrifying than Dracula.
- 13:13Speaker 2: The Black Avenger.
- 13:16Speaker 17: Blackula.
- 13:18Speaker 11: From American International Pictures.
- 13:21Speaker 13: That's right, you've got to love Blackula. So as we
- 13:25Speaker 13: move into this next phase of the show, this I thought,
- 13:28Speaker 13: you know, we'd do some of our basic ones there
- 13:30Speaker 13: to kind of get the ball rolling, but once we
- 13:32Speaker 13: get into it, As we sat down and we did
- 13:36Speaker 13: a couple of different Halloween recordings this past month, and
- 13:39Speaker 13: as we got a good portion of the gang together,
- 13:41Speaker 13: I thought I would throw it out there as you
- 13:42Speaker 13: guys pick a song. And pick a song that's, again, movie-themed,
- 13:47Speaker 13: but also sort of horror-themed and something that ties the
- 13:50Speaker 13: two together. And when you throw that sort of question
- 13:53Speaker 13: out to people, you would assume you would get very
- 13:55Speaker 13: general answers or very cliche horror movies or themes that
- 14:00Speaker 13: everybody already knows. Once again, with our crew, you're going
- 14:03Speaker 13: to get something a little different. I think we all
- 14:06Speaker 13: pick stuff that the rest of us didn't see coming.
- 14:09Speaker 13: You're probably not going to see it coming. Everybody takes
- 14:11Speaker 13: it a different way. And I think that's kind of awesome.
- 14:14Speaker 13: So I like the weird mixture that we get on this.
- 14:17Speaker 13: And it provides, once again, a very eclectic soundtrack. So
- 14:21Speaker 13: we're going to go. I'll sort of introduce them each
- 14:25Speaker 13: one as we go along. So you'll recognize most of
- 14:27Speaker 13: the crew, especially if you've been listening to these Halloween episodes.
- 14:30Speaker 13: themed episodes. Cause the majority of people have been on
- 14:33Speaker 13: all these episodes. We, we got a good crew together there.
- 14:36Speaker 13: So we're going to go through one by one and
- 14:37Speaker 13: have everyone pick their song. So let's get to it.
- 14:43Speaker 7: All right.
- 14:44Speaker 13: So we're doing our rundown of horror themed music. What
- 14:47Speaker 13: is your choice been? Which, which way did you go
- 14:50Speaker 13: in this?
- 14:51Speaker 21: I got the email.
- 14:52Speaker 19: It said, you know, think of a song from a,
- 14:55Speaker 19: from a horror movie that kind of sticks with you
- 14:57Speaker 19: that I think really made, made the movie. And, uh,
- 15:00Speaker 19: When I was a kid, the scariest movie I ever
- 15:02Speaker 19: saw was Legend of Boggy Creek.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Nice. And, uh.
- 15:06Speaker 7: This doesn't surprise me either.
- 15:07Speaker 19: And, uh, for some unexplained reason, right in the middle
- 15:11Speaker 19: of this movie, you know, they're, they're going to, and
- 15:14Speaker 19: for those who haven't seen it, it's early 70s, very handmade,
- 15:20Speaker 19: it's very low budget, uh, But it had a lot
- 15:23Speaker 19: of heart.
- 15:23Speaker 11: God love it. It had a lot of heart.
- 15:26Speaker 13: Docudrama is what it was.
- 15:28Speaker 19: Yeah, and so as a little kid who was scared
- 15:30Speaker 19: of seven-foot monkey men, I was terrified of it. Even
- 15:34Speaker 19: though if you see it now, it's very, very tame.
- 15:36Speaker 19: But they were going through stories. They had farmers talking
- 15:41Speaker 19: about the Bigfoot came and got my pigs, and Bigfoot
- 15:45Speaker 19: came and killed my kitty cat.
- 15:47Speaker 11: So I was terrified.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 19: And then it got to the point where it was
- 15:51Speaker 19: going to talk about this kid named Travis Crabtree. And
- 15:55Speaker 19: he was getting in his boat and he was getting
- 16:00Speaker 19: on the river. He was paddling out into the wilderness
- 16:03Speaker 19: of Arkansas. And he was going out to be by
- 16:07Speaker 19: himself and commune with nature and hunt and trap and
- 16:10Speaker 19: all that.
- 16:10Speaker 7: And you just knew.
- 16:12Speaker 19: He's going out there and the boggy creek monster is
- 16:16Speaker 19: going to get him. He's going to come pluck him
- 16:17Speaker 19: out of the boat, eat him. And I was just terrified.
- 16:20Speaker 19: And as he's paddling along, they start playing this early 70s.
- 16:26Speaker 19: It kind of sounds like, you know in the Muppet
- 16:29Speaker 19: movie when Hermit's sitting on the log and he's plucking
- 16:31Speaker 19: on his banjo. And there's like a little harmonica. And
- 16:36Speaker 19: there just starts being this ballad going. And it was like,
- 16:40Speaker 19: hey there, Travis Crabtree, come along with me. We're going
- 16:45Speaker 19: to see where the flowers grow. Yeah, and it's totally
- 16:48Speaker 19: not scary. It's very 70s, happy, everything's great. And I'm like, okay,
- 16:53Speaker 19: any minute now the song is going to turn bad
- 16:56Speaker 19: and there's going to be horror and death. The boat
- 16:58Speaker 19: is going to capsize. Travis Crabtree is going to, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 19: and nothing. He gets to this old hermit. They spend
- 17:06Speaker 19: 10 minutes sitting around talking to the old hermit. I'm like, okay, okay, anyway,
- 17:10Speaker 19: the song's still going. Bigfoot's going to come out of
- 17:13Speaker 19: the water, kill them both. And it gets to the
- 17:16Speaker 19: end of the scene, and Travis asks the old guy,
- 17:19Speaker 19: have you ever seen a monster? And he's like, I
- 17:21Speaker 19: tell you what, I've been living in these woods for
- 17:23Speaker 19: 800 years. There ain't no monsters in these woods. End scene.
- 17:27Speaker 21: That was it.
- 17:29Speaker 19: In the middle of this scary monster movie, it's the 70s.
- 17:33Speaker 19: We're gonna go and see where the flowers bloom.
- 17:37Speaker 21: So it didn't really scare me, but it really stuck out.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Hey, Travis Crabtree, wait a minute for me. Let's go
- 17:51Speaker 4: back in the bottom, back.
- 17:55Speaker 23: Where the fish are.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Biting, where all the world's inviting. And nobody sees the
- 18:06Speaker 4: flowers bloom but me.
- 18:11Speaker 14: Hey, Travis Crabtree, do you see what I see?
- 18:25Speaker 4: On the gentle winds of morning A million birds are
- 18:31Speaker 4: singing Like the bells of heaven ringing And nobody sees
- 18:40Speaker 4: The flowers bloom.
- 18:43Speaker 24: But me Drop me on a patch.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Of land Never stepped upon my man Where the crystal
- 18:55Speaker 4: water flows deep While the falcon flies high Across the
- 18:59Speaker 4: yellow-eyed sky Lord, ain't it great to be free Hey,
- 19:07Speaker 4: Travis Crabtree It's the right life for me. Rolling alone
- 19:17Speaker 4: in the bottom. While the birds and bees stop crying.
- 19:25Speaker 23: Because the sun is down.
- 19:28Speaker 4: And nobody sees the flowers bloom but me And nobody
- 19:37Speaker 4: sees the flowers bloom but me And nobody sees the
- 19:47Speaker 4: flowers bloom but me.
- 19:59Speaker 7: It's a little scary. I'll give you that.
- 20:00Speaker 19: Dave, what do you think?
- 20:01Speaker 11: Dave, you're the big foot. I was there. I was there.
- 20:03Speaker 13: You were in the woods.
- 20:05Speaker 11: It was jarring. To have, like, you know, this sort
- 20:09Speaker 11: of hippie folk tune pop up. It's pretty weird.
- 20:13Speaker 6: I look at it now, and it's kind of got
- 20:14Speaker 6: its weird charm to it, you know, like the whole
- 20:16Speaker 6: movie does.
- 20:18Speaker 19: And you've got to think, this kid, he was like
- 20:20Speaker 19: a teenager. You've got to think, the next day at school,
- 20:24Speaker 19: whenever anyone saw this movie.
- 20:25Speaker 7: Hey, Travis, come here.
- 20:27Speaker 11: He's a pretty merciless man.
- 20:28Speaker 7: Going to go commune with the flowers.
- 20:29Speaker 11: Going to go and watch where the flowers.
- 20:31Speaker 7: Bloom and see the beavers bloom.
- 20:33Speaker 6: Like the movie couldn't quite decide it wanted to be
- 20:35Speaker 6: every kind of movie made you know it wanted to
- 20:37Speaker 6: be everything a musical a horror film a documentary but
- 20:41Speaker 6: I love I love Legend of Bucky.
- 20:42Speaker 19: Oh absolutely but it's just it's so out of left
- 20:45Speaker 19: field and you're really thinking okay any minute now monster's
- 20:48Speaker 19: coming nope it's just 70s folk everything's happy and blowing
- 20:52Speaker 19: on the harmonica oh a trumpet solo.
- 20:56Speaker 7: Now you've made me want to go rent Sprouting.
- 20:58Speaker 13: Beavers it's a different movie.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Though Beavers the biggest damn movie you'll ever see.
- 21:06Speaker 25: Coming soon to this theater.
- 21:09Speaker 7: All right, Greg, what have you got for us?
- 21:10Speaker 21: Okay, well, I was thinking memorable, and I'm going to
- 21:13Speaker 21: tell you the one that I didn't choose first.
- 21:17Speaker 11: Which is a choice.
- 21:18Speaker 21: Right, right, which is a choice. Because it's not a
- 21:21Speaker 21: horror film, but in Fallen, when the time is on
- 21:27Speaker 21: my side, Rolling Stones, that's just such a memorable, and
- 21:31Speaker 21: it really does a good job of bringing that The
- 21:35Speaker 21: horror into that movie is because it keeps shifting from
- 21:38Speaker 21: person to person. That's one of those songs that I
- 21:41Speaker 21: can't hear that song without thinking of the movie. But
- 21:44Speaker 21: it's more of a thriller than it is a.
- 21:46Speaker 7: We're going pretty loose. A horror.
- 21:48Speaker 21: But since we want to go horror, and I always
- 21:50Speaker 21: go sci-fi or thriller instead of horror whenever I'm asked
- 21:52Speaker 21: a question, I'm going to go back to horror and
- 21:55Speaker 21: Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and.
- 21:58Speaker 21: The Fat Boys' Are You Ready for Freddy? Because that
- 22:03Speaker 21: is about as good as it gets.
- 22:05Speaker 13: It's as memorable as you're going to get in a
- 22:07Speaker 13: theme song.
- 22:09Speaker 11: Yes.
- 22:10Speaker 21: And Freddy raps, which is even better.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Frank, who is the name?
- 22:36Speaker 11: You know my game.
- 22:39Speaker 9: Elm Street's the place if you've got the time Listen
- 22:42Speaker 9: to this, you'll bust the rhyme.
- 22:44Speaker 26: Fred Krueger's a myth, but Fred Krueger's a man.
- 22:47Speaker 27: It doesn't matter cause I'm still reppin' while the money
- 22:49Speaker 27: stands To sit back, Jack.
- 22:51Speaker 26: I'm gonna bust the rhyme Grab ahold of your feet,
- 22:53Speaker 26: it's Krueger time.
- 22:55Speaker 9: It's time for Fred See, I'm a popular guy If
- 23:00Speaker 9: you don't know yet You're.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Gonna find out why.
- 23:04Speaker 7: Man, fuck, please, what's up, street?
- 23:07Speaker 18: Late one night, I look at like I know town.
- 23:09Speaker 25: No one in sight. With a hat like a vagabond.
- 23:12Speaker 14: Standing like a flasher.
- 23:13Speaker 7: This is the big time.
- 23:15Speaker 25: Frank Krueger.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Team Crescia.
- 23:16Speaker 27: Trying to find a girl, but then it's been me.
- 23:19Speaker 25: Not once, not twice, but three times.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Dancing.
- 23:22Speaker 7: All the people sleeping, snoozing and dreaming.
- 23:24Speaker 25: Bob Krueger's on the corner of Elm Street, scheming. Come
- 23:27Speaker 25: in and wake up, but let's just be. Because of Blaze,
- 23:29Speaker 25: I'm pretty confident. Broke his hands on bed!
- 23:32Speaker 14: Don't fall asleep.
- 23:34Speaker 28: 1AM, Freddy's in a dream, dream, dream.
- 23:37Speaker 14: The night will be a great day, night, night, night.
- 23:42Speaker 14: And when the time's up, I'm.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Ready to go to bed.
- 23:47Speaker 14: 2AM, Freddy's in a dream, dream, dream. The night will
- 23:55Speaker 14: be a great day, night, night, night.
- 23:58Speaker 2: And when the time's up, I'm ready to go to bed.
- 24:09Speaker 25: Even in part three, the dream warriors failed And Mr.
- 24:12Speaker 26: Big Time Freddy Krueger was banned It was his prime time,
- 24:15Speaker 26: I know you'll never forget What he.
- 24:17Speaker 25: Did to the girl with the TV set But you
- 24:20Speaker 25: can't stop Freddy, cause he's cool.
- 24:21Speaker 18: As ice Come right back at ya, to Slash.
- 24:24Speaker 25: And Slay Like a ginsu.
- 24:26Speaker 26: Blade, like a blabberhill blitz Freddy Krueger's putting on the red.
- 24:51Speaker 9: Thrillin', young ones or old ones, your mama's too. And
- 24:57Speaker 9: if you don't watch out, I'm gonna thrill you too.
- 25:02Speaker 9: So my advice to you is to stay ready, cause
- 25:07Speaker 9: you know who's back?
- 25:11Speaker 11: Friends.
- 25:12Speaker 9: You see my name is Freddy and I'm here to
- 25:15Speaker 9: say I'll wrap you up and take you away If
- 25:18Speaker 9: you feel like you're tired and ready for bed Don't fall.
- 25:21Speaker 7: Asleep or you'll wake up dead.
- 25:37Speaker 13: I believe the fourth soundtrack also features a track from
- 25:39Speaker 13: the Vinnie Vincent Invasion Wow.
- 25:42Speaker 7: Just saying. There's a weird poll.
- 25:45Speaker 21: But yeah, the Fat Boys, they had the song with
- 25:49Speaker 21: the Beach Boys and they had, I mean, they just,
- 25:52Speaker 21: they were ready to completely sell out and do anything.
- 25:55Speaker 7: I think that was kind of their whole thing, wasn't it?
- 25:58Speaker 13: I mean, they were never really like hardcore street rappers
- 26:01Speaker 13: and then they sold out.
- 26:02Speaker 7: They were fat and lazy. That was uncalled for.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 21: But, yeah, that was one of those things like, are
- 26:11Speaker 21: they really doing this? And it just kind of made
- 26:13Speaker 21: it for me. So, yeah, Nightmare on Elm Street 4.
- 26:18Speaker 13: Equally as weird as the Crabtree Boy. This is going.
- 26:22Speaker 21: To be the best podcast ever.
- 26:25Speaker 19: Dave, I do not get superheroes.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Oh, my God, I don't get you.
- 26:30Speaker 29: What don't you get?
- 26:31Speaker 7: Powerbot here.
- 26:33Speaker 10: Well, the meatbags were going to say that if you're
- 26:36Speaker 10: a geek and like podcasts, then you could try Tower
- 26:38Speaker 10: of Technobabble at www.toweroftechnobabble.com. Then this started. Well, it's up
- 26:47Speaker 10: to you. I'm gonna get my taser and put a
- 26:50Speaker 10: stop to this.
- 26:51Speaker 11: Towerbot out.
- 26:53Speaker 10: Okay, monkeys.
- 26:55Speaker 7: It's nap time.
- 27:01Speaker 8: Well what do you have for us i didn't really
- 27:06Speaker 8: understand the topic it's a pretty broad email wasn't very
- 27:10Speaker 8: clear it's pretty broad if you can get a song
- 27:15Speaker 8: just name.
- 27:16Speaker 30: Any song i have two in a movie then one
- 27:18Speaker 30: of them was an original song made for the movie
- 27:21Speaker 30: and the other was like pre-existing the original song is
- 27:24Speaker 30: the whole like um um, chilly down song from the labyrinth.
- 27:28Speaker 30: Cause when I was a kid, that fucking terrified me.
- 27:31Speaker 30: The puppet characters, they're tearing out their eyes and exchanging
- 27:34Speaker 30: them with one another and exchanging body parts. And like,
- 27:37Speaker 30: as a kid, I was like, I'm not enjoying this anymore. Like,
- 27:41Speaker 30: and that's when it just shifted into the weird, uncomfortable,
- 27:44Speaker 30: like zone. And I want to say, actually, I want
- 27:49Speaker 30: to say, I remember watching that for the first time
- 27:52Speaker 30: when I was sick.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Anyway, These are all of your best memories.
- 27:56Speaker 21: Like, it just made it work.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Woo!
- 28:14Speaker 2: Woo!
- 28:31Speaker 26: Don't got no problem Ain't got no suitcase Ain't got
- 28:38Speaker 26: no clothes.
- 28:38Speaker 14: To worry about Ain't got no real estate or jewelry
- 28:42Speaker 14: up on my table Got your story in my head
- 28:46Speaker 14: With the.
- 28:47Speaker 18: Children's bunch in the land.
- 28:49Speaker 25: It don't look much But you'll get it.
- 28:52Speaker 2: You'll get it Cause it's.
- 28:53Speaker 15: Only glow, glow Chilling.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Down the pocket Hey. Hey.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Hey. I'm crazy, really lazy.
- 29:34Speaker 25: I'm rolling on the story.
- 29:36Speaker 18: Ball playing, hips swaying, trouble making, booty shaking.
- 29:40Speaker 25: Passing, jumping, bouncing, prowling, stalling, creeping, pouncing Shouting.
- 29:43Speaker 18: Screaming, double-dealing, rockin', rollin', and.
- 29:45Speaker 19: A-reeling With a natural sense of feeling, can you think
- 29:48Speaker 19: I could be feeling?
- 29:50Speaker 14: So when things get too tough Your.
- 29:54Speaker 25: Chin is dragging on the ground And even down the top.
- 30:03Speaker 18: We can show you a good time.
- 30:05Speaker 14: Show you a good time.
- 30:06Speaker 18: And we don't charge nothing.
- 30:09Speaker 7: Just stretch your nasty stuff.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Wiggle in the middle, yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 11: Get that down, I'm talking fire guys.
- 30:15Speaker 14: Get it, girl, I'm talking fire guys.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Think smart.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Think smart.
- 30:23Speaker 18: Hey, listen up.
- 30:25Speaker 14: When you think it's wild, chill it down, chill it
- 30:30Speaker 14: down with the fire, yeah. When you think it's wild,
- 30:36Speaker 14: chill it down, chill it down with the fire, yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 14: When you think it's wild, chill it down, chill it
- 30:46Speaker 14: down with the fire, yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 30: Funny I was hanging out with you know Chris Vitito
- 31:11Speaker 30: after we did the one show with them the RoboCop
- 31:14Speaker 30: show and you know the more I talked to him
- 31:17Speaker 30: more I was like this guy's like my brother from
- 31:20Speaker 30: another mother sort of thing because we started talking about
- 31:23Speaker 30: um somehow Christmas came up and he was like oh
- 31:27Speaker 30: man one of my favorite things to do at Christmas
- 31:28Speaker 30: time just take like songs and just slow them down
- 31:31Speaker 30: like three times I was like oh my god he's
- 31:34Speaker 30: like what have you ever do you know how weird
- 31:36Speaker 30: that is I said I've got CDs to where I've
- 31:38Speaker 30: done that he's like really have you ever done it
- 31:40Speaker 30: with like chipmunks i was like yeah and what you
- 31:42Speaker 30: do is you not only do you like um take
- 31:45Speaker 30: it and slow it down but you actually like change
- 31:48Speaker 30: you know the tempo to or the pitch so that
- 31:51Speaker 30: way it's like normal men's voices singing it really slow
- 31:53Speaker 30: but then what you do is you still you layer
- 31:56Speaker 30: it on top of another one and you add like
- 31:58Speaker 30: an echo effect then it's even slower and he's like
- 32:01Speaker 30: oh my god i never thought like we had like
- 32:02Speaker 30: this great thing where it's like have you tried this
- 32:04Speaker 30: song and fucking it up this way.
- 32:06Speaker 7: And it's just like oh my god i don't You're
- 32:09Speaker 7: my new best friend.
- 32:10Speaker 15: By the way, that reminds me of when they post
- 32:12Speaker 15: Justin Bieber songs that have been slowed down like 200
- 32:15Speaker 15: times and they sound like Sierra Ross songs and you're like, whoa.
- 32:19Speaker 15: Am I really just secretly like, you know, a Justin
- 32:21Speaker 15: Bieber fan and I just never realized it because.
- 32:23Speaker 7: I listened to all of his music and like.
- 32:24Speaker 19: No, you're not.
- 32:25Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I'm not.
- 32:26Speaker 18: It's not a problem.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 32:28Speaker 7: No, it's okay. I can cop to not being a
- 32:30Speaker 7: Justin Bieber fan.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Horror and moral terror are your friends.
- 32:36Speaker 30: I'll give like an honorable mention to... The children's song
- 32:40Speaker 30: from the birds. Just because that keeps dragging on and
- 32:43Speaker 30: on and on. It was like perfect pacing to where
- 32:44Speaker 30: you're just like, fuck's sake, turn around.
- 32:47Speaker 13: I'm at the jungle gym behind you, turn around.
- 32:50Speaker 30: And you're just listening to the song keep building and
- 32:53Speaker 30: building and building.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Well, apparently there's no business like show business.
- 32:57Speaker 7: All right, Dave. Posh Dave.
- 32:59Speaker 11: I had so many. My daughter and I like to
- 33:01Speaker 11: sit around and listen to.
- 33:03Speaker 6: Halloween compilation CDs all the time, and we do that
- 33:06Speaker 6: a lot now.
- 33:06Speaker 11: I was going to bring up Beware the Blob.
- 33:10Speaker 7: I do love that song.
- 33:11Speaker 1: He creeps.
- 33:12Speaker 11: Is it true? Did Larry Hagman write that song? I
- 33:15Speaker 11: heard Larry Hagman, the actor, actually wrote that song.
- 33:17Speaker 7: Directed the sequel.
- 33:19Speaker 11: And directed the sequel. Maybe he actually worked on the
- 33:22Speaker 11: song as well. I'm not sure. That's one I just
- 33:23Speaker 11: threw off because I just love the song.
- 33:25Speaker 13: There's a man that loves the blog.
- 33:26Speaker 11: She loves it.
- 33:27Speaker 6: But I go back to a movie that I always loved.
- 33:30Speaker 6: I can't pick one song. I have to have the
- 33:31Speaker 6: whole soundtrack. It's Phantom of the Paradise.
- 33:34Speaker 7: We'll spin the wheel.
- 33:35Speaker 11: My favorite Brian De Palma film.
- 33:38Speaker 13: Since we did just talk to Garrett Graham, who was
- 33:40Speaker 13: pretty awesome, by the way.
- 33:41Speaker 11: Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 33:42Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 33:43Speaker 13: He was really cool.
- 33:45Speaker 6: Well, Garrett, even though it's not his singing voice on
- 33:49Speaker 6: the soundtrack, they got.
- 33:51Speaker 11: Ray Kennedy, who did all the... Schoolhouse rock songs.
- 33:55Speaker 21: Oh, nice.
- 33:56Speaker 11: And he does the vocalizations.
- 33:58Speaker 6: You do get to hear a little bit of Garrett
- 34:00Speaker 6: in the shower in the movie. I think in the
- 34:03Speaker 6: documentary that's on the French disc, they realize, we didn't
- 34:07Speaker 6: know Garrett could sing.
- 34:08Speaker 11: Paul Williams is like, I had no idea he was
- 34:10Speaker 11: a singer. I wouldn't have hired this other guy.
- 34:12Speaker 7: And then eventually went on to beat this big song, right?
- 34:14Speaker 11: Yeah. So the entire soundtrack composed by Paul Williams. Great stuff.
- 34:19Speaker 7: Spin the wheel and pick a random.
- 34:21Speaker 11: Spin the wheel, I'd.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Have to say probably Life at Last, which is Beef's
- 34:24Speaker 6: big number, which is an awesome tune.
- 34:50Speaker 13: Life at last, sit and listen while the fun begins
- 34:55Speaker 13: Hearts are broken and the bad guys win Sit and listen,
- 34:59Speaker 13: all the guns.
- 34:59Speaker 14: Out the TV And they're sitting for a queasy on
- 35:02Speaker 14: a week apart Oh, you had better stop, oh, what
- 35:07Speaker 14: is the time?
- 35:19Speaker 9: What's different, a woman.
- 35:25Speaker 14: Or a woman now?
- 36:05Speaker 9: That you created Getting corny.
- 36:09Speaker 7: And damn frustrated Each of you.
- 36:12Speaker 26: Must stop and try me up Only you might satisfy
- 36:16Speaker 26: me Ah.
- 36:17Speaker 17: Ah Ah.
- 36:36Speaker 11: That and the previous song, Somebody Super Like You.
- 36:38Speaker 7: Yeah, the undead one.
- 36:40Speaker 11: The undead one, which is just such a great rock opera.
- 36:43Speaker 7: I just re-watched it.
- 36:44Speaker 6: You've got the undead, so there's a lot of people
- 36:46Speaker 6: who say that Kiss derived their look and their concept
- 36:50Speaker 6: from watching this movie.
- 36:51Speaker 11: A lot of people in Kiss who say, no fucking way.
- 36:54Speaker 13: But they make up a lot of stuff in Kiss.
- 36:56Speaker 11: They do.
- 36:57Speaker 6: They don't kiss and tell. I've been a big fan
- 37:00Speaker 6: of this soundtrack in this movie. Not since it came out.
- 37:03Speaker 6: I didn't see it back in the old days. I
- 37:05Speaker 6: think I saw it in A Midnight of the Vogue.
- 37:08Speaker 6: And then immediately started watching a bootleg tape of it
- 37:10Speaker 6: almost every afternoon with Bob Markwell.
- 37:13Speaker 11: And just love the music from that point on. This
- 37:16Speaker 11: is my original vinyl dating back to like 1981. Big fan.
- 37:18Speaker 11: October night.
- 37:37Speaker 26: Creeping past their bedroom door, I hear.
- 37:45Speaker 31: The cries of sheep.
- 37:50Speaker 14: Hi, this is Garrett Graham, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 37:54Speaker 18: All night long, I watch the.

- 38:39Speaker 7: All right, Sterling, what do you have for us?
- 38:42Speaker 15: Yeah, no, this is an interesting category for me because
- 38:45Speaker 15: I'm not much of a soundtrack person. Weirdly enough, there
- 38:49Speaker 15: are only a few that I've ever really gotten into.
- 38:52Speaker 15: But with that said, of course, there are themes and
- 38:54Speaker 15: stuff that crop up for me. The funny thing is
- 38:56Speaker 15: I do listen to a lot of what I would
- 38:57Speaker 15: consider creepy rock music. I'm not just talking about heavy metal,
- 39:01Speaker 15: but I mean like weird math rock and atonal stuff
- 39:04Speaker 15: that's really big for me and forms a lot of
- 39:07Speaker 15: my horror base.
- 39:08Speaker 7: But I would say that.
- 39:10Speaker 15: I've got a couple of things to mention, though, that
- 39:13Speaker 15: I think really stand out for me. I've mentioned The
- 39:15Speaker 15: Wicker Man a couple of times today. And to me, though,
- 39:19Speaker 15: there's one reason I keep coming back to that is
- 39:21Speaker 15: because– and it is partly because it is a musical–
- 39:24Speaker 15: which is so strange for what.
- 39:27Speaker 7: That movie becomes.
- 39:28Speaker 15: Like, uh, That is a film that manages to have
- 39:31Speaker 15: some of the most chipper music you've ever heard. And
- 39:35Speaker 15: every one of those songs, it's like the sexual part
- 39:38Speaker 15: of it comes out and suddenly becomes ominous. And that
- 39:42Speaker 15: scene where he's up in the... I forget what the
- 39:45Speaker 15: song is. It's where they're singing about Johnny.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:50Speaker 7: And they're beating against.
- 39:52Speaker 15: The wall as he's, like, you know, watching, as he's
- 39:55Speaker 15: thinking about, like, the naked girl in the next room.
- 39:57Speaker 7: That's a really cool scene.
- 39:59Speaker 28: Sneaker pimps covered that song.
- 40:01Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 15: And it's a crazy intense song and a crazy intense
- 40:06Speaker 15: scene because it's, like, they all give this sense of
- 40:09Speaker 15: the unity of the community. And that's one of the
- 40:12Speaker 15: things that characterizes folk horror. And I think some of
- 40:15Speaker 15: the horror movies I like the most is this idea of, like,
- 40:18Speaker 15: community solidarity that's become this terrorizing thing.
- 40:21Speaker 7: But yeah, so I'd gently, gently Johnny.
- 40:24Speaker 11: Yeah, that's what it is.
- 40:25Speaker 7: Gently go, gently Johnny. Even the whole summer is coming in.
- 40:29Speaker 7: They're so damn chipper when he's being burned alive. Oh,
- 40:32Speaker 7: but that is what makes that scene.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I know, it is.
- 40:34Speaker 15: He's burning and screaming Jesus Christ while they're singing the
- 40:38Speaker 15: ancient carol and they're all smiling.
- 40:40Speaker 7: It's wonderful. And I don't think a lot of modern
- 40:43Speaker 7: horror movies have the balls for that.
- 40:44Speaker 1: No.
- 40:46Speaker 13: I think it strikes you even more when you know
- 40:48Speaker 13: it by reputation because it's one of those I knew
- 40:51Speaker 13: of that movie for years and just knew it as
- 40:54Speaker 13: something weird and it had a cult following and it
- 40:57Speaker 13: had those weird occult ties to it. So I was like,
- 40:59Speaker 13: I go in expecting this really creepy, weird 70s movie,
- 41:04Speaker 13: which it is. But I had no idea there was
- 41:07Speaker 13: music involved at all. So they get to that first
- 41:09Speaker 13: scene and they start singing.
- 41:10Speaker 7: I was just like.
- 41:11Speaker 13: what the hell's going.
- 41:13Speaker 25: On?
- 41:14Speaker 15: And not only like what the hell's going on, when
- 41:16Speaker 15: it happens again and again and again, it's like a
- 41:18Speaker 15: very important part of that film.
- 41:24Speaker 18: Hey, who is there?
- 41:36Speaker 31: No one but me, my.
- 41:39Speaker 14: Dear Please come.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Say how do The.
- 41:54Speaker 29: Things I'll give to you.
- 42:01Speaker 31: A stroke as gentle as a feather I'll catch a
- 42:11Speaker 31: rainbow from the sky and.
- 42:12Speaker 32: Tie the ends together.
- 42:31Speaker 31: I am here Am I not young and fair.
- 42:44Speaker 14: Please come Say.
- 42:50Speaker 29: How do The things Would you have a wondrous sight
- 43:15Speaker 29: The midday.
- 43:16Speaker 32: Sun at midnight comb you smooth and stroke your head.
- 44:08Speaker 32: Our maid can milk a pool And every stroke of bucket-ball.
- 45:32Speaker 15: To me, it's kind of like one of those elements
- 45:33Speaker 15: that makes the film and doesn't make any sense at
- 45:35Speaker 15: the same time, kind of like in The Little Girl
- 45:36Speaker 15: That Lives Down the Lane. The fact that that movie
- 45:39Speaker 15: has a little kid love story as the heart of
- 45:42Speaker 15: that movie, it's like, that doesn't make any sense, but
- 45:44Speaker 15: somehow that's part of what makes it great. But I'm
- 45:48Speaker 15: going to throw in a ringer, though, follow suit, and
- 45:51Speaker 15: say that this is, again, not quite horror-related, but watching
- 45:56Speaker 15: the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil...
- 45:59Speaker 15: really made William Mercer's songs have a special significance for me.
- 46:03Speaker 15: I had not really listened to him much before then,
- 46:06Speaker 15: but now it's like those tunes are colored by that film,
- 46:11Speaker 15: and now I can't hear his music and not feel
- 46:14Speaker 15: a sort of wistful eeriness to them. There's a sense
- 46:19Speaker 15: of things that have happened and been forgotten.
- 46:22Speaker 7: And been remembered by too few. So that would be
- 46:26Speaker 7: my ringer.
- 46:28Speaker 28: I think you could almost do a theme on that,
- 46:30Speaker 28: like songs that were either, well, in most cases, probably
- 46:35Speaker 28: like very chipper and happy that because of the context
- 46:37Speaker 28: of the movie that they were used in, like just
- 46:39Speaker 28: have completely different, you know, I mean, Stuck in the
- 46:43Speaker 28: Middle from Rose of War Dogs, Singing in the Rain
- 46:45Speaker 28: from Clockwork Orange, just these songs that.
- 46:47Speaker 8: Are very beat happy.
- 46:51Speaker 13: I see an old spinoff episode coming, so we'll start, yeah,
- 46:55Speaker 13: start working on those too.
- 46:57Speaker 22: Blimey.
- 46:59Speaker 11: Marlena?
- 47:02Speaker 33: This is just something silly, but when I think of
- 47:04Speaker 33: horror movie songs, the first one that comes to mind
- 47:08Speaker 33: is Killer Clowns from Outer Space by the Dickies. My
- 47:13Speaker 33: friend Andrew used to be super into that movie, and
- 47:17Speaker 33: he would just go around the house going, da-da-da-da!
- 47:19Speaker 13: All the time and like sure he just wasn't watching
- 47:22Speaker 13: Sanford and.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Son I mean.
- 47:25Speaker 28: Probably both but I.
- 47:27Speaker 33: Mean there's nothing wrong with either yeah but Sanford.
- 47:31Speaker 16: And Son from Outer Space Sanford and Son from Outer
- 47:33Speaker 16: Space a clown going Elizabeth I'm coming Lamont I didn't
- 47:38Speaker 16: even think about that now I should like make a
- 47:40Speaker 16: whole bunch of like 70s like theme songs and just
- 47:43Speaker 16: you know tweak them because you know it just Moving
- 47:45Speaker 16: on up.
- 47:47Speaker 7: If you slow that down, it can get really creepy.
- 47:50Speaker 33: You take the good, you take the bad.
- 47:53Speaker 7: What happens is you're dumping the body into the grave.
- 47:55Speaker 11: We're moving on up.
- 47:57Speaker 7: She's a small one.
- 47:59Speaker 33: I feel like that one and Facts.
- 48:03Speaker 18: Of Life would be the two creepiest ones.
- 48:07Speaker 33: Yeah, but I don't know. That's the only one that
- 48:10Speaker 33: really comes to mind.
- 48:26Speaker 26: It's so long ago There's one more every minute That
- 48:29Speaker 26: you never.
- 48:31Speaker 14: Found Some make us laugh Some.
- 48:33Speaker 20: Make us cry These bells, are they gonna make you cry?
- 48:40Speaker 18: Everybody's running when the circus comes into the town Everybody's.
- 48:43Speaker 20: Running for the life of the killer clown Without a
- 48:49Speaker 20: space Kill the bad, wow, wow, wow, whoo, run.
- 49:05Speaker 14: Out of faith. Check it!
- 49:10Speaker 18: Ring, master, shout, let the show begin. Stand in the dust,
- 49:16Speaker 18: let them tell you when.
- 49:18Speaker 14: See your option.
- 49:20Speaker 26: Brother's nose on the painted face Bringing genocide to the
- 49:25Speaker 26: gallery Time to take a ride on the night, dear
- 49:29Speaker 26: merry-go-round You'll be.
- 49:32Speaker 20: Dead on arrival from the night of the.
- 49:36Speaker 18: Killer sound.
- 49:39Speaker 20: From outer space Kill the clown, wow, wow, wow, ooh
- 49:46Speaker 20: From outer space The cotton candy in their hats There's
- 49:55Speaker 20: a broken-hearted man with a stock of jack-o'-lanterns They will die.
- 49:59Speaker 18: Of all the ghosts, oh no What do you see?
- 50:43Speaker 26: Tell you what's become of humanity California shores to New York,
- 50:49Speaker 26: I swear For all of them, they lay everywhere If
- 50:55Speaker 26: you've ever wondered what the population's going down Leave it
- 51:02Speaker 26: all up on the lumbar likes of the California.
- 51:07Speaker 18: From outer space.
- 51:15Speaker 27: All right, Dave.
- 51:21Speaker 11: What do you have? I think... Sporty Dave.
- 51:25Speaker 13: Sporty Dave.
- 51:26Speaker 21: I think for me, one of the movie songs.
- 51:31Speaker 28: I mean, I'm more partial to vampire-type stuff. I'm still
- 51:37Speaker 28: a big fan of Little Sister from Lost Boys. I
- 51:39Speaker 28: still think that's one of the greatest... creepy as fantastic
- 51:43Speaker 28: like you know if I was just like rocking out
- 51:46Speaker 28: to that on my own it probably wouldn't be as
- 51:51Speaker 28: fantastic but I'm not saying it's a great song like
- 51:54Speaker 28: on it's own but having that context you know having
- 51:58Speaker 28: seen it like it's just Almost like what you say
- 52:01Speaker 28: about Midnight at Garden, Good and Evil. That song is
- 52:04Speaker 28: just on a whole other level. As cheesy in its
- 52:06Speaker 28: 80s as it might be, that is just one of
- 52:08Speaker 28: the greatest, creepiest, fantastic songs ever.
- 52:11Speaker 34: The last fire will rise Behind those eyes Black house
- 52:20Speaker 34: will rock Blind boys don't lie.
- 52:28Speaker 35: Immortal fear That voice.
- 52:32Speaker 14: So clear Through broken walls That.
- 52:38Speaker 18: Scream I hear sister sister.
- 53:12Speaker 34: Blue masquerade, strangers look on, when will they learn this loneliness?
- 53:29Speaker 22: Temptation beats like a drum deep in your veins.
- 53:40Speaker 26: I will not last.
- 53:42Speaker 14: Little sister, I shall walk alone. Come, come to your brother.
- 53:58Speaker 14: Change me sister Love is with your.
- 54:07Speaker 35: Brother My Shangri-La.
- 54:39Speaker 22: I can't forget why you were mine.
- 54:46Speaker 7: I need you now.
- 55:06Speaker 14: Come to your brother. Hey you. Come to me sister.
- 55:07Speaker 14: Love is with your brother.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Hey you.
- 55:08Speaker 14: Come little sister.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Come.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Come to your brother. Love shall not die.
- 55:34Speaker 14: Come on, join me, sister. Love shall not die. Love
- 55:36Speaker 14: is with your brother.
- 56:08Speaker 28: Just little kids ranting off the.
- 56:11Speaker 21: It's.
- 56:11Speaker 13: The background stuff going on that makes it so creepy,
- 56:14Speaker 13: and it's funny that they made it the theme, like,
- 56:17Speaker 13: out of a movie that has this huge soundtrack, and, like,
- 56:20Speaker 13: they released a lot of.
- 56:21Speaker 28: Singles off that, but that's the one that like, the
- 56:23Speaker 28: boy with his saxophone on stage.
- 56:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:26Speaker 13: Like that one didn't get any like radio play, but
- 56:28Speaker 13: like that became the unofficial theme of sadly, I must
- 56:32Speaker 13: say the series as it went on, but like they
- 56:34Speaker 13: kept like, it was, even if you look at the soundtrack,
- 56:37Speaker 13: it's the theme for lost boys. Like they took that
- 56:40Speaker 13: creepy part of it and kind.
- 56:41Speaker 28: Of, you know, it opens up with doors. I mean,
- 56:43Speaker 28: you have all these other, you know, bigger established songs, um,
- 56:47Speaker 28: you know, and, and it's, shared capacity but you know
- 56:51Speaker 28: that one just stood out so much it was it
- 56:54Speaker 28: was pretty fantastic i.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Am the monster the breathing men would.
- 56:59Speaker 15: Kill that reminds me when you were talking about vampire
- 57:01Speaker 15: movies um for some reason my brain keeps keeps wanting
- 57:05Speaker 15: to think of something from bram stoker's dracula from 1994
- 57:09Speaker 15: I love.
- 57:10Speaker 7: That movie, by the way. It's a terrible, great vampire
- 57:13Speaker 7: movie for me. I think it's better than most people
- 57:14Speaker 7: get credit for.
- 57:15Speaker 11: It's just a big, splashy movie.
- 57:16Speaker 7: Well, that's the thing.
- 57:17Speaker 15: And I think the reason for that is it is
- 57:19Speaker 15: incredibly operatic and over the top. There's something about that
- 57:22Speaker 15: movie that my brain wants to imagine Gary Oldman turning
- 57:25Speaker 15: around and then singing his solo.
- 57:28Speaker 7: I find it not at all difficult to imagine. That
- 57:30Speaker 7: would kind of work. You need to start working on that.
- 57:33Speaker 15: No, there's something about that film that I would not
- 57:35Speaker 15: at all be surprised if the characters just burst into
- 57:39Speaker 15: song while turning Lucy into a vampire.
- 57:41Speaker 7: You could call it Vlad the Entertainer.
- 57:46Speaker 12: Oh, dear.
- 57:49Speaker 25: Well, you brought it up.
- 57:52Speaker 13: We should escape this whole game. That is a Kickstarter,
- 57:55Speaker 13: all right. I would watch that.
- 57:57Speaker 28: Keanu Reeves doing opera. Imagine those scenes, though. How fantastic.
- 58:01Speaker 7: That's what brings down that movie.
- 58:03Speaker 13: Everybody just goes, the one with Keanu.
- 58:06Speaker 7: He's the least... Wrong. Keanu is perfect casting for that film.
- 58:10Speaker 11: He kind of is, actually.
- 58:11Speaker 15: Because Jonathan Harker is a guy who sits in a
- 58:13Speaker 15: scary castle with a vampire, and it takes him months
- 58:16Speaker 15: to figure out that he's in a scary castle with
- 58:18Speaker 15: a vampire.
- 58:18Speaker 13: You're a vampire.
- 58:19Speaker 15: After watching him crawl on the... fucking like roof and
- 58:22Speaker 15: like turn into a wolf and like all.
- 58:24Speaker 33: This other crap it takes a pretty dense person and.
- 58:26Speaker 36: Not bad casting yeah it's like you see him crawling
- 58:30Speaker 36: on the ceiling he's like i suddenly realized that i'm
- 58:33Speaker 36: the prisoner of a supernatural force like you are really
- 58:36Speaker 36: really like just now.
- 58:37Speaker 33: His freakishly long fingers Or the shadow.
- 58:40Speaker 7: That moves independent of his body. Well, Jonathan Harker didn't
- 58:43Speaker 7: have cable.
- 58:44Speaker 19: He didn't grow up with these kinds of movies.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 58:47Speaker 15: Whenever I saw my grandpa's shadow flickering on the wall,
- 58:49Speaker 15: doing weird stuff and dodging a yo-yo, you know, like, yeah,
- 58:53Speaker 15: I was definitely thinking, oh, that's, I'm sure that's just
- 58:55Speaker 15: normal for people of his generation or maybe Transylvanians, you know,
- 58:59Speaker 15: I expect this of them.
- 59:02Speaker 1: All right.
- 59:02Speaker 13: Well, to round these out, I went, once again, we
- 59:05Speaker 13: all sort of stray in our own way, and I
- 59:07Speaker 13: kind of like that. It makes for quite an eclectic group.
- 59:10Speaker 13: here because I went with one and this was one
- 59:12Speaker 13: of the very first ones I thought of when I
- 59:15Speaker 13: threw this out there and I think it's because it's
- 59:18Speaker 13: not a horror song at all but I always give
- 59:20Speaker 13: credit to movies who can take something not only is
- 59:24Speaker 13: it like not creepy but it's an entirely 180 degrees
- 59:26Speaker 13: in tone and and make it creepy, and it's even
- 59:32Speaker 13: funnier that it's in what's essentially a horror comedy, Deo,
- 59:36Speaker 13: I can never hear it again after Beetlejuice. I mean,
- 59:40Speaker 13: that song had been around for decades, and it took it,
- 59:43Speaker 13: and I can't hear it normal anymore. I can't not
- 59:46Speaker 13: see the dance number going on, and the furniture coming alive,
- 59:50Speaker 13: and it just claims that song, and that's the only
- 59:54Speaker 13: way I can think of it now.
- 59:56Speaker 33: Last night, at work, this drunk guy started saying, and
- 1:00:01Speaker 33: then someone was like, are you singing the song from Beetlejuice?
- 1:00:04Speaker 13: See, that's how, like, generations after that will know.
- 1:00:07Speaker 11: That's what my daughter knows it from.
- 1:00:09Speaker 26: Yeah.
- 1:00:09Speaker 11: That's all she knows is that's that Beetlejuice tune. It
- 1:00:11Speaker 11: comes on the radio once in a while.
- 1:00:13Speaker 15: In the future, they will know Beetlejuice is that character
- 1:00:15Speaker 15: that Robin Thicke dressed up as that one time.
- 1:00:20Speaker 13: The other thing I think is kind of cool is
- 1:00:22Speaker 13: that it also, it worked backwards and it is like
- 1:00:25Speaker 13: what made me explore the whole Harry Bella. I had
- 1:00:29Speaker 13: no idea who he was before that. And then there's
- 1:00:32Speaker 13: this dorky version of me going back and finding, I
- 1:00:35Speaker 13: think it was at the library, like, hey, look, they've
- 1:00:37Speaker 13: got Harry Bell.
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: Because nobody else cared at that point. Kind of like
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: Scott Joplin has the sting.
- 1:00:40Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 1:00:40Speaker 13: It's like I went backwards and actually got into his
- 1:00:44Speaker 13: whole career. And there's so many good songs that he did.
- 1:00:46Speaker 11: This is totally off track.
- 1:00:47Speaker 19: Have you heard Stan Freeberg's version of Dale?
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:00:52Speaker 11: The Banana Belt song. Google it later and listen to it.
- 1:00:55Speaker 11: I think you'll like it.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: But yeah, I don't know.
- 1:00:58Speaker 13: I thought that was an interesting, weird way to go out.
- 1:01:01Speaker 13: So we'll head out with that.
- 1:01:04Speaker 9: I wonder where a guy in everyday Joe like myself
- 1:01:07Speaker 9: could find a little action.
- 1:01:10Speaker 13: All right, well, this will round it out. So thank
- 1:01:12Speaker 13: you for joining us for this, the first horror-themed Attack
- 1:01:15Speaker 13: of the Killer soundtrack. And as always, I'll remind you,
- 1:01:18Speaker 13: even in the most horrifying times, Get a Life will
- 1:01:21Speaker 13: provide the soundtrack.
- 1:01:28Speaker 35: Daylight come and me wan go home.
- 1:01:33Speaker 23: Day, me say day, me say day, me say day,
- 1:01:37Speaker 23: me say day, me say day, oh.
- 1:01:40Speaker 24: Daylight come and me wan go home. Work all night
- 1:01:49Speaker 24: and drink all rum.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: Daylight come and me wan go home.
- 1:01:55Speaker 24: Stock banana till the morning come.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Daylight come and me wan go home. Come Mr.
- 1:02:04Speaker 23: Tallyman, tally me banana.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Daylight come and me wan go home.
- 1:02:11Speaker 23: Come Mr. Tallyman, tally me banana.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Daylight come and me wan go home.
- 1:02:18Speaker 25: Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Daylight come and me one go home.
- 1:02:26Speaker 25: Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Daylight come and me one go home.
- 1:02:33Speaker 18: Daylight come and me one go home.
- 1:02:38Speaker 27: Daylight come and me one go home. Daylight come and
- 1:02:47Speaker 27: we wan' go home.
- 1:02:50Speaker 24: A beautiful bunch, a ripe banana.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Daylight come and we wan' go.
- 1:02:57Speaker 24: Home Hide the deadly black tarantula.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Daylight come and we wan' go.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: Home Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch Daylight come
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: and we wan' go home.
- 1:03:13Speaker 25: Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Daylight come and we one go home.
- 1:03:20Speaker 27: Daylight come and we one go home.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Daylight come and we one go.
- 1:03:37Speaker 23: Come Mr. Tallyman, tally me banana.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Daylight come and me wan go home. Come Mr.
- 1:03:46Speaker 23: Tallyman, tally me banana.
- 1:03:49Speaker 27: Daylight come and me wan go home.
- 1:03:54Speaker 19: Daylight come and.
- 1:03:59Speaker 27: Me wan go home.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Now, none of us Falk boys would admit it, but
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: for a long time, knowing the creature might be around,
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: had put a damper on our pack trips back into
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: the wilderness. But as time passed, and stories and conversation
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: about the Falk monster died down, Teenage boys again began
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: to go off on long camping trips in the bottoms.
- 1:04:39Speaker 21: Excuse me, I didn't mean to end up in your lap.
- 1:04:42Speaker 9: Really?
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: No judgments.
