Latest / FPL Pod / S3 Ep13: Off The Bench: Captain dilemma with Salah out
Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome back to this week's Off the Bench podcast from
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Premier League. I'm Jenny and pres hey Praz. There
- 0:22Speaker 1: was drama this week around that FPL deadline, with the
- 0:25Speaker 1: Merseyside derby being postponed early Saturday morning due to storm Darra.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So there was no salah so many then Captain Palmer.
- 0:32Speaker 1: They were rewarded with thirty six big ones, but those
- 0:35Speaker 1: that went soccer almost as many did saw another blank.
- 0:38Speaker 1: We've got to speak about Brian and Burmo because he
- 0:40Speaker 1: was sold on mass and you had him, and he
- 0:42Speaker 1: rewarded those that kept the faith with a big haul
- 0:44Speaker 1: as Brentford, but also Chelsea, Forrest, Bournemouth, Villa and west
- 0:47Speaker 1: Ham all picked up three points.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I mean, how was your game week.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Praz and Burmo owner Palmer captain, Now you must be
- 0:53Speaker 1: pretty happy.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a good week.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I had a sec as well, so it was looking
- 0:56Speaker 4: good actually on Saturday and then you know, not much
- 1:00Speaker 4: happened apart from the Palmer captaincy after that.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Now, Palmer captaincy was huge.
- 1:04Speaker 4: We'll talk about the ripple effects of the Liverpool game
- 1:06Speaker 4: getting postponed, but seventy five points for me, I'm off
- 1:10Speaker 4: to a good start this year twenty five k now,
- 1:13Speaker 4: so it's it's been going all right but a lot
- 1:16Speaker 4: of luck.
- 1:17Speaker 3: How was your game week?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, not too bad. I think around sixty odd points.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I mean I didn't have a Burmo, but those that didn't,
- 1:24Speaker 1: many of them had Bowen. They got big points, and
- 1:26Speaker 1: many of them, if not had Bruno. I had Bruno,
- 1:28Speaker 1: so I was happy with my nine points of the
- 1:30Speaker 1: from Bruno Fernandez. I just have a red card though,
- 1:33Speaker 1: from Rico Lewis. He gets his goal finally, I think
- 1:35Speaker 1: you're going to get big points from Umn City defender
- 1:37Speaker 1: and then he goes and gets sent off. But no,
- 1:40Speaker 1: Palmer captain. I'm very happy with that decision. I got
- 1:43Speaker 1: a slanky goal. We'll speak more about Spurs later in
- 1:46Speaker 1: the show, but perhaps I guess we've got to start
- 1:48Speaker 1: with that match being postponed because there was chaos around
- 1:51Speaker 1: the deadline. I mean, what were the big implications of
- 1:54Speaker 1: the no salary in that Liverpool game being canceled?
- 1:56Speaker 4: I mean, I think they were huge implications given how
- 1:59Speaker 4: the results panned out. Because first let's look at transfers,
- 2:03Speaker 4: Like a lot of people were looking to buy Trent
- 2:05Speaker 4: and I was one of those people. How was I
- 2:07Speaker 4: going to buy Trend sell him Boomo to buy to
- 2:09Speaker 4: a four day defender up to Trent? So I ended
- 2:11Speaker 4: up not selling a Boomo because obviously Trent wasn't playing.
- 2:14Speaker 4: So that's the first piece of luck or swing. I
- 2:17Speaker 4: think the second one is everyone that I know was
- 2:21Speaker 4: capturing Salah. So then when Salah is not in the equation,
- 2:24Speaker 4: you start talking about is soccer good captaincy? Is Palmer
- 2:26Speaker 4: good captaincy? And then the third element is some people
- 2:29Speaker 4: didn't realize that the game was off. You know the
- 2:31Speaker 4: folks in the US, or you know the early waker
- 2:34Speaker 4: uppers in the United Kingdom or Europe. They basically missed
- 2:37Speaker 4: the fact that the game was off and maybe left
- 2:40Speaker 4: it on a vice captain hadn't given it enough thought
- 2:42Speaker 4: and ended up getting a vice captain on somebody they
- 2:45Speaker 4: didn't actually want a captain.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, a load, I think, move the armband. So yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: Palmer soccer Harland got more attention than you'd expect. And
- 2:53Speaker 1: obviously he's produced a goal, but I think only a
- 2:56Speaker 1: seven pointer. We saw fbl family Lee. He was empty
- 3:00Speaker 1: to captain Ollie Watkins anyway, and then the news of
- 3:03Speaker 1: the Sala postponement straight away, you go, actually, I can
- 3:05Speaker 1: have a little bit of fun with this.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I will go with the Nollie Watkins.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You know, we'll speak about Villa, but you know, Watkins
- 3:09Speaker 1: was obviously benched and then obviously got the one pointer.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So it was a week which was quite swingy, but
- 3:14Speaker 1: managers felt like they could go and have a punt
- 3:16Speaker 1: because there was no salary in the game. But it
- 3:17Speaker 1: did make me think, boy, this game can sometimes be
- 3:20Speaker 1: better with Lomo Sala because it's come really easier the
- 3:23Speaker 1: last few weeks. Captaincy has just gone there and actually
- 3:26Speaker 1: maybe we do need to think outside the box a
- 3:27Speaker 1: little more because the lights of Parma they're delivering.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and actually the one final thing was odd. Some benches, right,
- 3:33Speaker 4: I mean yeah, a lot of people. You know, some
- 3:35Speaker 4: people had to use transfers to basically work around this postponement,
- 3:40Speaker 4: while others who had deeper benches and you had benching
- 3:43Speaker 4: dilemmas just said, you know what, I'm going to bend Salom.
- 3:45Speaker 4: I'm going to keep him for the week after and
- 3:47Speaker 4: that sort of worked out nicely.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, we had a lot of teams with probably a
- 3:52Speaker 1: salary and say Van Dyke or a Salar and a
- 3:54Speaker 1: Trend and a Mikaelenko. So straight away that's three players
- 3:56Speaker 1: out of action. And if you've got a guy that's
- 3:59Speaker 1: injured or some SMA on your bench already, like a Gabrielle,
- 4:01Speaker 1: then yeah, it was a problem for many. So yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: the chaos is good though, right as engaged FPL managers,
- 4:07Speaker 1: we should welcome chaos because it just means later in
- 4:10Speaker 1: the season with then one step ahead to react to
- 4:12Speaker 1: things like double game weeks.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Absolutely, and I think if you've saved your triple captain
- 4:16Speaker 4: Salah getting a double game week, that's beautiful news. And
- 4:18Speaker 4: now I've used mine, so that was one of the
- 4:20Speaker 4: things I was thinking about. But look, I think I
- 4:22Speaker 4: got enough luck out of in Onemore playing instead and
- 4:25Speaker 4: things like that, so I'm not going to think about it.
- 4:27Speaker 4: But if you do have your triple captaincy, it just
- 4:29Speaker 4: looks very nice whenever that double game big falls for Liverpool.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Salar triple captaincy is definitely on.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yes, we'll speak more about trouble captaincy and chips on
- 4:37Speaker 1: this podcast throughout the season, guys, so make sure you're
- 4:39Speaker 1: listening out. But in short, Liverpool's participation in the AFL
- 4:42Speaker 1: Cup final could be crucial. If they get to the final,
- 4:45Speaker 1: then you could see that double game week on a
- 4:48Speaker 1: small double and there for triple. Captain is very likely
- 4:51Speaker 1: to be used on those that have it for Mosala.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So that should we kick off with Spurs Chelsea. I
- 4:55Speaker 1: feel like that was one of the biggest games of
- 4:56Speaker 1: the weekend, biggest score line. Cole Palmer show, wasn't it.
- 5:00Speaker 1: It was and very impressive Chelsea.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I mean after going Tonil down, that game could have
- 5:04Speaker 4: gone anywhere. But you know, credit to Maresca the way
- 5:07Speaker 4: they changed. They changed their shape a little bit. I
- 5:10Speaker 4: mean they do play with this three box three, but
- 5:13Speaker 4: then the personnel kept changing. It was Enzo alongside Palmer.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Second half it was c Corella who was actually almost
- 5:18Speaker 4: playing at number ten. It was adaptable and that's one
- 5:21Speaker 4: thing that you can't say about Spurs because you know,
- 5:23Speaker 4: this is not the first time they've let go of
- 5:25Speaker 4: for two go lead and it was just a game
- 5:28Speaker 4: where Chelsea grew into it and even though on paper
- 5:31Speaker 4: you'd say it's two penalties and did Chelsea deserve it?
- 5:34Speaker 4: I think watching the game, Chelsea definitely deserved the win.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 1: The Chelsea formation and personnel is really interesting.
- 5:40Speaker 2: This season.
- 5:41Speaker 1: We've seen Marascue use a few different sort of systems,
- 5:43Speaker 1: but at the moment what we're seeing is it's almost
- 5:45Speaker 1: a back three in possession, a bit like pet players
- 5:48Speaker 1: at Man City, with then one of the fullbacks being
- 5:50Speaker 1: inverted into midfield. So you know City we're used to seeing,
- 5:52Speaker 1: say a Rico Lewis stepping into midfield. Well, at Chelsea
- 5:55Speaker 1: we've seen Caisdo lining up as a right back but
- 5:57Speaker 1: still playing his defensive mid role because I'm on the ball,
- 6:00Speaker 1: he's in those central areas. But we've also seen the
- 6:03Speaker 1: likes of Gusto playing the role, Coucrella playing the role
- 6:05Speaker 1: and actually rees James out of this Chelsea team doesn't
- 6:08Speaker 1: give the manager such a headache. It's quite an easy
- 6:11Speaker 1: solution without Reese, who of course is in that first
- 6:14Speaker 1: eleven but often injured. And Enso is one of the
- 6:17Speaker 1: big beneficiaries because in a midfield where you've got Lavia
- 6:20Speaker 1: and you've got Kai Seda already, Enzo doesn't have to
- 6:23Speaker 1: play one of those defensive midfield roles. And in the
- 6:25Speaker 1: last four game weeks we've seen Enzo we're in the
- 6:27Speaker 1: captain's arm band we've seen him taking half the set pieces,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but we've also seen him scoring goals and getting assists.
- 6:33Speaker 1: And Enso is getting a lot of love in the
- 6:35Speaker 1: FBL community and rightly so now, because if you want
- 6:37Speaker 1: a bit of that Chelsea attack outside of Palmer and
- 6:40Speaker 1: outside of Jackson, then Enso feels like a player that
- 6:44Speaker 1: we can invest in as a seventh or eighth attacker
- 6:46Speaker 1: because he's so cheap.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, four point ninety's. I mean, I think now he's
- 6:49Speaker 3: five million.
- 6:51Speaker 4: It's sister grid Price and people have to manage expectations
- 6:55Speaker 4: with bigx leg Inenzol. I mean you have to think
- 6:57Speaker 4: of him a bit like you know Jaka two years
- 7:00Speaker 4: go at Arsenal or Brundigan three years ago at han City.
- 7:03Speaker 4: So those guys are basically like the fifth attacker. The
- 7:06Speaker 4: manager has said, look, you have defensive responsibility, but if
- 7:09Speaker 4: we are attacking, then you can join the attack. You
- 7:11Speaker 4: can be that fifth guy who comes into the box.
- 7:13Speaker 4: And we've seen a lot of his goals come that way.
- 7:15Speaker 4: But many games we saw in the second half where
- 7:18Speaker 4: he did have defensive responsibility. So I think it's the
- 7:21Speaker 4: price that is appealing about Enzo. It's the minutes because
- 7:24Speaker 4: I think as long as James is out and that
- 7:27Speaker 4: seems to be the you know, until January, so there
- 7:29Speaker 4: will be a lot of games that will come through.
- 7:31Speaker 4: And if Caisero keeps playing this inverted right back, then
- 7:35Speaker 4: there is a space for Lavia and Enzo and the
- 7:38Speaker 4: for the role of this attacking eight that Enso is playing.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I like it. He's also on corners.
- 7:44Speaker 4: We always like set pieces, so you know, spoiler alert,
- 7:47Speaker 4: I got Enzo last night and that's something that will
- 7:49Speaker 4: afford other moves as well. So there's many reasons to
- 7:52Speaker 4: look at this cheap midfielder that's emerging.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's who that enables.
- 7:56Speaker 1: If you're selling an Amburmo or Bruno, you go down
- 7:59Speaker 1: to an Enzo, then yeah, what can you do in defense?
- 8:01Speaker 1: Does that allow you to buy a trend for example?
- 8:03Speaker 1: So yeah, we'll talk about Liverpool and premium defenders later,
- 8:06Speaker 1: but Trent and Arsenal defenders are going to be of
- 8:09Speaker 1: high interest. Pras gone give us a little spoiler alert,
- 8:12Speaker 1: is that Enzo moved to enable a defender elsewhere?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean look at the defenses.
- 8:18Speaker 4: I look at most people's FBO teams and the defenses
- 8:20Speaker 4: are absolutely in shambles. I mean people are still running
- 8:23Speaker 4: with Mikolenkos, I have Pinock myself, terrible fixtures going ahead
- 8:27Speaker 4: eight Nourice is okay, but he seems to be conceding
- 8:30Speaker 4: two or three goals every game. Then you've got Gabrielle
- 8:33Speaker 4: who's not showing up for games. So you know, the
- 8:35Speaker 4: defense needs some love, and I think you know who
- 8:38Speaker 4: better to get than the most attacking defender and one
- 8:41Speaker 4: of the best defenses in the league.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Trend Yeah, nice, Well, that Chelsea attack if you do
- 8:45Speaker 1: want to invest in it. You don't gain huge points
- 8:47Speaker 1: when Cole Palmer hits Hales because everyone owns him. A
- 8:50Speaker 1: fair few have Jackson, and that's a nice secondary route
- 8:52Speaker 1: to the Chelsea attack. But if you want to consider
- 8:54Speaker 1: a third Chelsea attack, or a different, cheaper Chelsea attacker,
- 8:57Speaker 1: then I think Enzo perhaps over the wide men, purely
- 9:00Speaker 1: because we'll see a bit of rotation with Pedro Netto,
- 9:02Speaker 1: who's suspended. He's picked up five yellows, but Sancho To
- 9:05Speaker 1: and obviously Madawake coming in and playing every now and then.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So Enzo feels like a nice option. But that Chelsea
- 9:11Speaker 1: attack is so good and worth doubling up. On first
- 9:13Speaker 1: for goals so far this season out of all Premier
- 9:16Speaker 1: League teams, second for big chances, first for expected goals.
- 9:19Speaker 1: They've scored thirty five times in fifteen league games this season.
- 9:23Speaker 1: No one beats that, So absolutely see why many want
- 9:27Speaker 1: to double up, especially given the fixtures over the festive
- 9:29Speaker 1: period and outside the other big teams, like they don't
- 9:32Speaker 1: have Champions League football, they have European foot one Thursday
- 9:35Speaker 1: night when they get to rest Cole Palmer, not even
- 9:37Speaker 1: in the squad for the group stages. And they also
- 9:40Speaker 1: they're going to get to play a B team so
- 9:41Speaker 1: that fresh every weekend and we're seeing the advantages of
- 9:43Speaker 1: that now.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Definitely, I think you made a greed prot bread of fixtures.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I mean I have to look at their FDR on
- 9:49Speaker 4: the website and it's a sea of green until twentieth
- 9:52Speaker 4: of January. So I definitely think about adding a second
- 9:55Speaker 4: or even a third. And I don't even mind their defense.
- 9:57Speaker 4: I know the defense has gotten a little bit of criticism.
- 10:01Speaker 4: They keep conceding these big chances, and they do concede
- 10:03Speaker 4: every single goal game, and you have Sanchez who's making mistakes.
- 10:07Speaker 4: But I don't I don't mind a call will even
- 10:10Speaker 4: a Sanchez out. What are your views on Sanchez for example, Yeah.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I don't mind Sanchez. I just feel like if he
- 10:16Speaker 1: has one or two really bad games, he could be dropped.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I don't feel like he's absolutely he's clearly first choice,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but I don't feel like he's absolutely set and forget
- 10:24Speaker 1: that in that position. And I think eventually rescue will
- 10:26Speaker 1: places him, probably not till next season, but if he
- 10:28Speaker 1: has a couple of clangers, he's not a guaranteed starter,
- 10:31Speaker 1: like say a cole Will or a Cocrella you know,
- 10:33Speaker 1: can have a bad game, but they're clearly going to
- 10:35Speaker 1: keep their spot. So I think I probably prefer one
- 10:38Speaker 1: of those guys to to a Sanchez. But yeah, I
- 10:40Speaker 1: mean Chelsea defense isn't as bad as perhaps people make out,
- 10:44Speaker 1: and with the fixres they've got, you can see some
- 10:46Speaker 1: some home clean sheets there. I mean one defense that
- 10:49Speaker 1: is bad is Spurs. We should touch on them. Yeah,
- 10:52Speaker 1: they're still an exciting attack though, So how do we
- 10:54Speaker 1: feel about the likes of s Lankey and co. Like,
- 10:58Speaker 1: do we still want to stay and in a Spurs
- 11:00Speaker 1: attacker knowing they've got Southampton next? But you just don't
- 11:03Speaker 1: know what Spurs is going to do. They had it
- 11:04Speaker 1: switch a few weeks ago, and you know I captain
- 11:06Speaker 1: Slanky in that game and any blanks. They're just not
- 11:09Speaker 1: a reliable team.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Are they there.
- 11:11Speaker 4: This is the issue that you can't rely on them
- 11:13Speaker 4: for a fixture run right. They could win against man
- 11:16Speaker 4: City and lose against Sipswich so and that's the issue.
- 11:19Speaker 4: They're competing with other picks in their price brackets. So
- 11:22Speaker 4: Son is competing with a Soccer and a Palmer. So
- 11:24Speaker 4: Lanky is competing with an Esak who keeps delivering week
- 11:27Speaker 4: on week, or even a Jackson with great fixtures. And
- 11:29Speaker 4: then you say, do I really want investment here when
- 11:32Speaker 4: there's other options. That's where it's tricky. I don't think
- 11:34Speaker 4: the attack is a bad investment. I think if you
- 11:36Speaker 4: have one of those guys you may consider. I think
- 11:39Speaker 4: Son becomes more difficult by the day as long as
- 11:41Speaker 4: you know Soccer and Palmer keep delivering. But Slanky I
- 11:44Speaker 4: think he's an okay hold. They have Southampton this week
- 11:46Speaker 4: and then after that you know, okay, there's Liverpool, but
- 11:48Speaker 4: then it's not too bad. I do struggle with their
- 11:51Speaker 4: defense though I have all season, like I had Poro
- 11:55Speaker 4: most of last season because there was this thing of
- 11:58Speaker 4: you know, defenders getting bonus. This year, they've lost that
- 12:01Speaker 4: a little bit because once they concede, that's a negative
- 12:04Speaker 4: BP section and so that makes Poro even less appealing.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Even though he keeps getting an odd attacking return. He's
- 12:10Speaker 4: basically an expensive eight Nouri. Now, you know, with all
- 12:13Speaker 4: due respect to Poro, it's not that great. And I
- 12:16Speaker 4: would know vander Ven and Romero were back, but then
- 12:19Speaker 4: Romero was again injured, and now we're hearing that he
- 12:22Speaker 4: could be out for a few weeks, so that'll impact
- 12:25Speaker 4: their defense even more.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Vicario's already out.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I just wouldn't touch their defense and in their attack,
- 12:30Speaker 4: it's more a case of keep if you have otherwise
- 12:32Speaker 4: don't invest.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah with you there, let's talk Man United because that's
- 12:36Speaker 1: another attack that's looking good, but defense that's perhaps not.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And it was a great game United two Forrest three,
- 12:43Speaker 1: and it was pretty balanced. But I guess the two
- 12:46Speaker 1: players that get the headline for Man United in terms
- 12:48Speaker 1: of FPL interest. And I think we knew this a
- 12:51Speaker 1: month ago. We knew this two months ago, perhaps or
- 12:53Speaker 1: certainly off Amrim's announcement that Amad would probably become a
- 12:56Speaker 1: good option that could play wing back. We've seen that
- 12:59Speaker 1: and he is and Bruno Fernandez would still be the
- 13:01Speaker 1: key call. It's interesting we're seeing some early subs for Bruno.
- 13:03Speaker 1: We think he's out of sixty five and a seventy
- 13:05Speaker 1: five in the last three, which we didn't see under
- 13:07Speaker 1: previous managers. But when he's playing in that number ten role,
- 13:11Speaker 1: Bruno and he's part of the front two or front three,
- 13:14Speaker 1: he's a really desirable le f pl beca, isn't he.
- 13:17Speaker 4: He is very much so, and not much has changed.
- 13:19Speaker 4: But I think I want to be cautious with all
- 13:21Speaker 4: man United picks. And I've been saying this since Amrim
- 13:24Speaker 4: came in because he's still trying things right. I mean,
- 13:27Speaker 4: what we have learned is in this two ten system,
- 13:30Speaker 4: so there's an attacker, there's two tens behind. The only
- 13:33Speaker 4: attackers he's preferred there are Hoyland and Xerxi, and they're
- 13:36Speaker 4: going to rotate constantly. That makes either of them a
- 13:39Speaker 4: non option. Then in the number ten, he's got Gernacho,
- 13:42Speaker 4: he's got Rashford, he's got Mount, he's got Bruno. So
- 13:45Speaker 4: while Bruno will play a lot of games, he'll pretty
- 13:47Speaker 4: much start every game. He's not going to play every
- 13:49Speaker 4: game in the ten. Then you're going to have Bruno
- 13:52Speaker 4: playing in the pivot, which is not as great. Right,
- 13:54Speaker 4: Then you're saying, I'm spending all this money on this
- 13:56Speaker 4: midfielder who's basically joining in the attacks, basically the Enzo role.
- 14:00Speaker 4: So it's not ideal, but it's still Bruno. So he
- 14:03Speaker 4: still has free kicks, he still has penalties, so you
- 14:06Speaker 4: could still invest in. Now I'm not saying he's a
- 14:07Speaker 4: bad pick, but he's not going to play number ten
- 14:10Speaker 4: every single game, big, and that's my main issue with him.
- 14:12Speaker 4: The other pick, which you allude to is Ahmad. Ahmad
- 14:15Speaker 4: has been incredible. He's got five assists already and I
- 14:17Speaker 4: think five games, and you know, he probably is the
- 14:21Speaker 4: best right wing back in the system, and he looks
- 14:25Speaker 4: to be nailed. But again in the Amrim system, we've
- 14:27Speaker 4: seen Euro came back. Euro had his first start. He
- 14:30Speaker 4: was exceptional, really good, really good defender, not an FBL defender,
- 14:34Speaker 4: but for you know, in real life, really really good.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Then you have Maserawi and Daalo, so there could be
- 14:39Speaker 4: games that Masawi and Dallo could play the wing back roles.
- 14:42Speaker 4: So does Ahmad long term join the number ten and
- 14:44Speaker 4: make it even more complicated, or is it a case
- 14:47Speaker 4: of Ahmad just nails down that right wing backspot. I'm
- 14:50Speaker 4: still not one hundred percent, so I would just say
- 14:52Speaker 4: wait on any Man United picks.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I must.
- 14:55Speaker 1: At May, I was looking at buying him at this week,
- 14:57Speaker 1: just because I'm shopping for that fifth midfielder. It's between
- 15:01Speaker 1: Enzo and a Mad, and I think after what I've
- 15:03Speaker 1: seen of the weekend and just seeing Chelsea attack so
- 15:06Speaker 1: well and be more reliable in terms of just pure
- 15:08Speaker 1: shot volume and goals, I'm probably going to go Enzo,
- 15:10Speaker 1: but a Mad certainly in terms of individual positioning on
- 15:13Speaker 1: the pitch, he's often the third fourth most advanced player
- 15:15Speaker 1: on the pitch for mann United, sometimes even higher than that,
- 15:18Speaker 1: and he's been super involved and super important Tamrim. I
- 15:21Speaker 1: look at the starts he's had. I think the only
- 15:23Speaker 1: league game he's not starting under Amram was the Arsenal game.
- 15:26Speaker 1: You're down at halftime, forty five minutes on the clock.
- 15:29Speaker 1: He looks at that bench and he goes, a Mad,
- 15:31Speaker 1: You're you're the guy I'm calling on to come on
- 15:33Speaker 1: and try and change the game. He didn't change the
- 15:35Speaker 1: game and United were poor against Arsenal, but interesting to
- 15:38Speaker 1: see the faith the manager is putting on him. The
- 15:40Speaker 1: one game he was rotated, he's on as a half
- 15:42Speaker 1: time sub. He feels to me like someone that's going
- 15:45Speaker 1: to play all those games. And we've seen at Lisbon
- 15:49Speaker 1: with his wing backs. He's happy to use one fall
- 15:51Speaker 1: back on one side playing wing back, but he's also
- 15:53Speaker 1: happy converting a wide man and winger to the fullback role.
- 15:56Speaker 1: And from all of the United's wide men, it feels
- 15:58Speaker 1: like I'm Mad is the only one he trusts playing
- 16:00Speaker 1: in the wing back role and he's absolutely thriving there.
- 16:02Speaker 1: So I do really like how mad. I just think
- 16:04Speaker 1: that that attack still is perhaps as well functioning as
- 16:07Speaker 1: say Chelsea, And therefore maybe Enzo's the slide.
- 16:10Speaker 4: And he's been ruthless, amrim in terms of substitutions right.
- 16:13Speaker 4: He loves a pre sixty minute substitution with defenders, with defenders,
- 16:18Speaker 4: and he loves energy, right, So if he basically will
- 16:21Speaker 4: will do it. And over the Christmas period, I just
- 16:23Speaker 4: feel like I can only give people advice. They're free
- 16:25Speaker 4: to do what they like, but I just don't I
- 16:27Speaker 4: wouldn't touch many United picks. Let them play a few
- 16:30Speaker 4: more games, look at them in January. There'll be a
- 16:32Speaker 4: settled team by then, and then you know they'll be
- 16:34Speaker 4: picked there.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Yeah, fair enough, we got him mentioned Chris Wood. Praz
- 16:37Speaker 1: he keeps doing it. We see the fixtures and we go, oh,
- 16:40Speaker 1: we could probably probably offload a Chris Wood. But he
- 16:42Speaker 1: still scores goals.
- 16:43Speaker 4: You know, there's this there's this gift, which is he
- 16:46Speaker 4: can't keep getting away with this. That goal was all
- 16:49Speaker 4: you know, it was windy conditions. He just loops aheader,
- 16:52Speaker 4: it just goes in and Nana has no clue before this.
- 16:55Speaker 4: He gets a penalty. He's basically averaging one shot per
- 17:00Speaker 4: in the box per game for all this run of
- 17:03Speaker 4: five games that he's had in the last five weeks.
- 17:05Speaker 4: But he's still come out with goals. And I just
- 17:07Speaker 4: don't know how to stop him. Maybe I just need
- 17:08Speaker 4: to buy him.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's crazy. He has been phenomenal this season.
- 17:13Speaker 1: He's absolutely one of the FPL stars of the season
- 17:16Speaker 1: so far, and all, as you say, off pretty underwhelming
- 17:19Speaker 1: underlying stats like the XG, the shot volume, it's not
- 17:22Speaker 1: been super high. But what he has been, to be
- 17:24Speaker 1: fair to him, is really efficient, as have Nott and Forest.
- 17:27Speaker 1: To be fair Fulham Arsenal was an interesting one. We
- 17:31Speaker 1: nearly saw a late winner, didn't we from soccer, which
- 17:33Speaker 1: changes everything because if Soccer scores that header, he gets
- 17:36Speaker 1: the winning goal, he gets bonus points, he gets five
- 17:39Speaker 1: points for the goal, and straight away, if you've captain soccer,
- 17:41Speaker 1: you're looking at a nine or ten pointer. Instead you're
- 17:44Speaker 1: looking at a two pointer. It's fine margins FPL, isn't it?
- 17:47Speaker 1: Just from that Martinelli toe your FPL points. You could
- 17:51Speaker 1: lose eight points. If you've captain him, he could lose
- 17:54Speaker 1: sixteen points just off one small var decision.
- 17:56Speaker 4: It's tricky, yeah, I mean, and you know we have
- 17:59Speaker 4: to sort of try and not to get two down
- 18:00Speaker 4: with these things. I mean, I own soccer, hadn't captured him,
- 18:03Speaker 4: but even owning him, like I see people not having soccer,
- 18:06Speaker 4: and I go, you know, he just got away with
- 18:08Speaker 4: this because he's he's their best attacker. Like, let's not
- 18:12Speaker 4: like it's not haverts, the guy taking the shots, the
- 18:14Speaker 4: guy creating the chances is soccer.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And then there's this narrative of Arsenal are creating very
- 18:19Speaker 3: little XG from open play.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Most of it is coming from set pieces, Well, who's
- 18:23Speaker 4: taking fifty percent of the set pieces?
- 18:25Speaker 3: It's sucker.
- 18:25Speaker 4: They're getting goals of penalties, Well, who's taking the penalties
- 18:28Speaker 4: at soccer? So I just think, even though there is this,
- 18:31Speaker 4: and it's true that Arsenal becoming a defense first, safety
- 18:35Speaker 4: first team, let's keep it down to a one nail,
- 18:37Speaker 4: two nail kind of thing, which is fine. Soccer is
- 18:39Speaker 4: still a great pick. Like he's there attacking number and
- 18:42Speaker 4: attacking pick. I think if anything, it impacts hards or
- 18:45Speaker 4: regarded a little bit, because those guys get impact. If
- 18:47Speaker 4: they're going to score one goal, probably it's soccer who's involved.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and with.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Bonus points, you compete with your teammates as well, and
- 18:53Speaker 1: soccer does so well with all the underlying creative stuff
- 18:56Speaker 1: that if he returned straight away, he's on three bonus,
- 18:59Speaker 1: which then hinders your habits bonus points, your ODI guard
- 19:02Speaker 1: bonus points. I mean, how do we feel about the
- 19:04Speaker 1: Arsenal defense, because for me it's always been, has been
- 19:06Speaker 1: for a while. It's sacco and it's the defenders are
- 19:08Speaker 1: the Arsenal prizers. You mainly consider, Sure we flirted with
- 19:11Speaker 1: an oder guard or habits but the moment they feel
- 19:14Speaker 1: like non events. Do we prefer the Arsenal defense or
- 19:17Speaker 1: the Liverpool defense If you're shopping for a premium defender,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I mean you and I are eyeing up Trent. But
- 19:23Speaker 1: if you don't have an Arsenal defender, do we feel
- 19:25Speaker 1: that there are more reliable source of clean sheets over
- 19:28Speaker 1: the festive run or do we still back the best
- 19:30Speaker 1: defense in the league season so far, which to be fair,
- 19:33Speaker 1: has been Liverpool.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I think, Look, there's not much in it. These are
- 19:36Speaker 4: too clearly the best two defenses in the league. They
- 19:39Speaker 4: both have a good fixture run and so I don't
- 19:42Speaker 4: think you can go too wrong. Then it gets into
- 19:44Speaker 4: individual names.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:45Speaker 4: If you're talking Trent, I mean for me, he then
- 19:48Speaker 4: good defense, most attacking. Now you may juries out whether
- 19:52Speaker 4: this season it's been the case or not. Some games
- 19:53Speaker 4: it is, some games it's not. But by and large
- 19:56Speaker 4: he is still the most attacking route to points. He
- 19:59Speaker 4: takes corners, takes set pieces or direct free cakes. So
- 20:03Speaker 4: I like him the most. But he's the most expensive,
- 20:05Speaker 4: so it's priced in that way. I think the next
- 20:08Speaker 4: you could argue it's Gabrielle or Van Dyke. Pick your pick.
- 20:11Speaker 4: You know, in terms of who is the right player,
- 20:14Speaker 4: because both have that goal threat in terms of corners,
- 20:17Speaker 4: and they're always going to be in and around goals.
- 20:20Speaker 4: And then you get to the next tier, which is
- 20:21Speaker 4: basically your Saliba's and I'm not putting Saliba in that
- 20:24Speaker 4: same tier because Saliba is not usually the same goal threat.
- 20:28Speaker 4: It's a little bit of luck. I mean that Man
- 20:30Speaker 4: United goal. Saliba knew nothing about that goal. It hit
- 20:33Speaker 4: him on his backside, so he's fine. But I would
- 20:36Speaker 4: still put him on the next year. So Saliba would
- 20:38Speaker 4: be there. I would even say when a fit Kunate,
- 20:40Speaker 4: he would fit there. Timber, you could argue, would be there,
- 20:43Speaker 4: but I would still say Timber. You know, he's not
- 20:45Speaker 4: a very long term pick. At some point, you know,
- 20:48Speaker 4: White will come back, at some point, Calipari will be fit.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Then there's a goalkeeper discussion, whether it's Alison or Ryan.
- 20:54Speaker 4: I think that's a fifty to fifty.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, interesting point on Saliba because he's a lot. We'll
- 20:59Speaker 1: see two goals in two games and feel like you
- 21:02Speaker 1: just go and buy him, but he often isn't the
- 21:04Speaker 1: beneficiary from set pieces. It is Gabrielle who they look
- 21:07Speaker 1: for and Sleever's had one off his bum and actually
- 21:09Speaker 1: they'll go against Fulham like hartz Is heads that ball
- 21:13Speaker 1: and is going towards the back post, and hartz Is
- 21:17Speaker 1: an attempt on goal and Saliba just happens to be
- 21:19Speaker 1: there to tap it in. But really Haverts should be
- 21:22Speaker 1: scoring that himself. So yeah, it's fortunate for sleebro owners
- 21:25Speaker 1: to two goals and big points when your defenders are scoring.
- 21:29Speaker 1: What makes me think about Trent is he started the
- 21:31Speaker 1: season fairly slowly by Trent standards. You know, I own
- 21:35Speaker 1: Trent for the first couple of months and it was fine,
- 21:39Speaker 1: but I wanted more and I did wonder, Underslot.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Are we going to see him playing within himself? Is
- 21:43Speaker 2: there an injury? There?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Is it a tactical thing. But the last couple of
- 21:46Speaker 1: games we've seen from Trent he comes on and gets
- 21:48Speaker 1: two assists last time out. The game before that against
- 21:51Speaker 1: Man City, I think he hit the post and was
- 21:52Speaker 1: really attacking. So maybe we're seeing either a slight changing
- 21:56Speaker 1: system or just Trent actually back fully fit, raring to go.
- 21:59Speaker 1: But were you and corwaged by those two performances, because
- 22:02Speaker 1: he did look a little bit more attacking, didn't they?
- 22:04Speaker 4: He did, but I am also pragmatic in the sense
- 22:06Speaker 4: that it's you know, a bit like we were talking
- 22:08Speaker 4: about Chelsea. Managers do change setups depending on the opponent,
- 22:11Speaker 4: so I will not go in every game thinking Trent's
- 22:14Speaker 4: going to get an attacking return. This game it is
- 22:15Speaker 4: a different setup. Slot is a lot more pragmatic, so
- 22:18Speaker 4: I would say he's a good pick. Maybe he has
- 22:21Speaker 4: slightly you know, lower assist threat than he's had in
- 22:24Speaker 4: the clop era, but then that's counterbalanced by the higher
- 22:27Speaker 4: defensive or clean sheet probabilities, So I still like him.
- 22:31Speaker 4: He's still seven million, which is an incredible price for him,
- 22:34Speaker 4: especially if you consider the fact that Saliba six point
- 22:36Speaker 4: two van Dyk is now coming to six point four,
- 22:40Speaker 4: so you know, you are you are comparing him only
- 22:42Speaker 4: about zero point six point eight to other defenders who
- 22:45Speaker 4: have very limited attacking threat apart from the corner. So
- 22:49Speaker 4: I still think Trent is the best pick of the bunch.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that history tells us he is a phenomenal fpl asset.
- 22:55Speaker 1: He's a three assist this season, no goals yet, but
- 22:57Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm sure that come in, especially with his
- 23:00Speaker 1: ability to shoot from range and the Liverpool fixtures look
- 23:03Speaker 1: good for goals to again a bit like with that
- 23:05Speaker 1: Chelsea attack, saying Palmers perhaps not enough. Well, it's salar
- 23:08Speaker 1: enough for the Liverpool attack. We're probably not buying a
- 23:10Speaker 1: Gagpo or a Diaz or a Darwin Orthough. Jotta is
- 23:15Speaker 1: back in training. Eyes on him for the next few weeks.
- 23:17Speaker 1: It's going to take him a while to be back
- 23:19Speaker 1: in the eleven. But Trent gives us more cover in
- 23:21Speaker 1: that attack, which is a great attack, a good attack,
- 23:24Speaker 1: but not great defense is probably Man City again. We
- 23:27Speaker 1: talked about good defenses in years gone by, We've always
- 23:29Speaker 1: spoken about Man City as a top two defense. This
- 23:32Speaker 1: year it's clearly Arsenal. Liverpool and City are nowhere near
- 23:35Speaker 1: There are a bottom half defense at the moment, aren't they.
- 23:38Speaker 4: They are, and it's just the fact that they are
- 23:41Speaker 4: giving up a lot of big chances, which has been
- 23:43Speaker 4: the case where rodri has basically shut them down and
- 23:46Speaker 4: not converted air transition into a big chance, and they're
- 23:49Speaker 4: just not able to stop it this year. Whether that
- 23:51Speaker 4: is because you know, it's just rodriy, or is it
- 23:54Speaker 4: you know Walker has lost some base and he's not
- 23:56Speaker 4: able to stop the counters or it's just injuries. They
- 24:00Speaker 4: obviously it's a combination of all of these things. But
- 24:02Speaker 4: the fact of the matter is they're not a reliable
- 24:04Speaker 4: defense this year.
- 24:06Speaker 3: They have always been you.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Know, one shot, one goal, a bit like what Arsland
- 24:09Speaker 4: did this game week, where you know him and As
- 24:11Speaker 4: has one shot and that's that's conceded. But typically they
- 24:14Speaker 4: do you know, you can still rive on a few
- 24:16Speaker 4: clean sheets, but this year it's very difficult to predict.
- 24:18Speaker 3: And you know it's a.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Case of either you go for a guardiole who has
- 24:22Speaker 4: good attacking threat, or you just go very very cheap
- 24:25Speaker 4: and just hope for Rico Lewis to start and then
- 24:27Speaker 4: he gets you an odd goal which was the case
- 24:29Speaker 4: this this this game week, but then you get a
- 24:32Speaker 4: red card as a string attached to that.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't quite comprehend how man City have gone
- 24:38Speaker 1: from being a team that concedes one big chance a
- 24:41Speaker 1: game and some and often that was going in, which
- 24:43Speaker 1: was frustrating for managers. And you were Edison for the
- 24:45Speaker 1: run in last year and they were really good at
- 24:47Speaker 1: the back, but then kept conceding those one goal games
- 24:50Speaker 1: in games they were winning three four one. But now
- 24:52Speaker 1: that conceding four to five big chances a game and
- 24:54Speaker 1: a couple of them are going in and that the
- 24:57Speaker 1: impact of no Rodwy clearly has the im on the
- 25:00Speaker 1: chances conceded and therefore the goals conceded. Or is it
- 25:02Speaker 1: maybe more than that, as you say, there's other areas
- 25:05Speaker 1: that are flagging Walker's pace, injuries in the back line, whatever.
- 25:09Speaker 1: But yeah, they look vulnerable to the point where you
- 25:11Speaker 1: know Pep doesn't often change goalkeepers. Well, Edison's come out
- 25:14Speaker 1: the team. De Bruyne's back though, which helps the attack
- 25:17Speaker 1: and Harland scored it sell Us Park. But again like
- 25:20Speaker 1: the attack's good, but it doesn't feel like an attack
- 25:22Speaker 1: where you need to be spending fifteen million in captain
- 25:25Speaker 1: in the guy up front every week. So do we
- 25:27Speaker 1: look at that festive run and go if you've got
- 25:30Speaker 1: a Saka, a Palmer, a Salah, they are three premiums.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You're very happy. You're probably not looking to change that
- 25:35Speaker 1: for a while. And if you have those three you're
- 25:37Speaker 1: clearly not going to have an early Harland as well.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So for the first time since he's been in the game,
- 25:42Speaker 1: we're pretty comfortable not owning the Norwegian, aren't we.
- 25:44Speaker 4: We are until he scores, dead brace or a hat
- 25:47Speaker 4: trick which you know his fixtures now not to scare anyone,
- 25:50Speaker 4: and I don't think a lot of people will go
- 25:51Speaker 4: for him, but give me eighteen he has Everton home, nineteen,
- 25:54Speaker 4: he has Leicester away, twenty, he has west Ham home
- 25:57Speaker 4: twenty one, hears Brentford away. We've seen how many GOLs
- 25:59Speaker 4: Brentford concede and he has it switch away in twenty two.
- 26:02Speaker 4: So that five game week run is actually incredible. But
- 26:06Speaker 4: I think there is a case now that managers have
- 26:09Speaker 4: sold him, they've spread the money and they're happy. Like
- 26:12Speaker 4: you know, I haven't seen one unhappy Harland sellar so far,
- 26:15Speaker 4: and it may change. But I think whenever that happens,
- 26:18Speaker 4: it will happen. People will just need to hold their
- 26:21Speaker 4: nerve and say, look, I have got other three other
- 26:23Speaker 4: good prayers. Like you said if you have your Skker
- 26:25Speaker 4: Palmer Salah. I would even say if you have a
- 26:28Speaker 4: you know, a semi premium attacker, could be Watkins, could
- 26:31Speaker 4: be Esak. If you have a premium defender could be
- 26:33Speaker 4: could be Trent, could be Van Dyke, could be Gabrielle.
- 26:36Speaker 4: I think people are generally happy, so yeah, that's where
- 26:38Speaker 4: we are in the FBI landscape.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I held him far too long. I just couldn't see
- 26:43Speaker 1: that he was gonna. I saw the underlying numbers all
- 26:47Speaker 1: the high extreme was like, now I'm going to keep
- 26:48Speaker 1: the faith, but it meant not having Salah for weeks.
- 26:50Speaker 1: They're pretty much killed but the start of my season
- 26:53Speaker 1: or the first half of my season.
- 26:54Speaker 2: But I'm looking at it now.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Guy, I'm so happy I sold him a couple of
- 26:56Speaker 1: weeks ago, and I've got Salar in place, But no
- 26:58Speaker 1: one's getting Harlem back in one move, probably two moves
- 27:01Speaker 1: will be a stretch. You need to be saving those
- 27:03Speaker 1: transfers if you want to get him back, But then
- 27:04Speaker 1: you also need to be willing to sacrifice a Salar, Asaker,
- 27:08Speaker 1: Palmer or maybe even two of them, which feels crazy
- 27:10Speaker 1: at the minute. What we probably need to force our
- 27:12Speaker 1: hand is a suspension or an injury or a huge
- 27:15Speaker 1: dip in form, which I just can't see from one
- 27:17Speaker 1: of those three premium midfielders.
- 27:19Speaker 4: And to add, like, even if you did go for
- 27:22Speaker 4: a Holand from Game Big twenty three onwards, the in
- 27:25Speaker 4: a row they play Chelsea Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool Spurs, all
- 27:28Speaker 4: five in a Row so at some point. Now, again,
- 27:31Speaker 4: Holland can do well in those teams, we know that.
- 27:34Speaker 4: But if you're spending let's say three transfers to get
- 27:37Speaker 4: Holland in, yeah, then you're going to be spending two
- 27:39Speaker 4: transfers or three transfers to get him out. Is that
- 27:41Speaker 4: six transfers worth it for maybe a couple of game weeks?
- 27:45Speaker 3: Maybe? I think Game Big and.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Hour getting way too far ahead. But Game Big twenty
- 27:47Speaker 4: is the only obvious captaincy for Horland, so it's tricky.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 1: How well did fl do with the pricing of Harland
- 27:54Speaker 1: this year? I keep looking at that example, going well
- 27:57Speaker 1: played like I was gobsmacked when he came in at fifty.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I don't.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I didn't think he deserved fifteen from the year. The
- 28:03Speaker 1: season he had just had good but not that good.
- 28:06Speaker 1: But now the fact he's fifteen, it gives us that
- 28:08Speaker 1: question all the time, which I think is just brilliant. Yeah,
- 28:10Speaker 1: it'll be really interesting to see where he is next year,
- 28:12Speaker 1: depending on where he finishes and if Salar out scores him, which.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Is looking likely at the minute.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Should we move on to some of the other teams
- 28:18Speaker 1: because we've st about many of the biggest.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Yeah, pais deserve and mention, didn't.
- 28:22Speaker 4: I yeah, I think I think Palliser getting back. I
- 28:26Speaker 4: mean you heard Glazner in the post match where he
- 28:29Speaker 4: was saying, look, we're gradually improving in our structure. I
- 28:33Speaker 4: think him working out that Sara and Esse behind Matteta
- 28:37Speaker 4: is the way to go. I felt he was a
- 28:39Speaker 4: bit pressured to go for a in Ktya because the
- 28:42Speaker 4: nine him and they felt and commader and so he
- 28:46Speaker 4: felt that this is what I need to do. But
- 28:47Speaker 4: I think Sarah and Ese behind just works. Matteta playing
- 28:50Speaker 4: every game nineteen minutes works and that also helps them
- 28:54Speaker 4: at the back. Hughes his fit Wateron is fit, and
- 28:56Speaker 4: I think that helps them in midfield. I just think
- 28:58Speaker 4: it's a team that's getting back. I can see a
- 29:01Speaker 4: lot of people investigate in Palace from giving me nineteen on.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Their fixtures are really good. So just something I wanted
- 29:05Speaker 4: to shout out as well.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and the wing backs, like very few teams play
- 29:09Speaker 1: with wing backs. We spoke about man United, but Mano's
- 29:12Speaker 1: and Mitchell they offer you the attacking threat a lot
- 29:14Speaker 1: of fallbacks don't. And we saw when Glasnow first took
- 29:16Speaker 1: over it can be a good source of clean sheets
- 29:18Speaker 1: when the fixtures turn attacking returns on the menu for
- 29:21Speaker 1: Muna's two and two. He's just had don't expect them
- 29:24Speaker 1: to maintain that sort of standard. But I think we'll
- 29:26Speaker 1: get some clean sheets too. And he's had some price drops.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Start the season at five million, he's now like four
- 29:30Speaker 1: point seven four point eight. Yeah, he'll be back of
- 29:33Speaker 1: interest very very soon.
- 29:34Speaker 2: I think.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Agreed, Where do you want to go to next, Praz
- 29:36Speaker 1: We've got a couple of more games to touch on
- 29:38Speaker 1: and we still got to go onto the Brian and
- 29:40Speaker 1: Burmo chat as well.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Let's do one more Newcastle again?
- 29:42Speaker 2: Yeah? Nice?
- 29:43Speaker 1: I mean so many sold him and it was a
- 29:45Speaker 1: tricky sale because you knew home fixtures are good for
- 29:49Speaker 1: Brentford and Newcastle were poor on the road when they
- 29:52Speaker 1: went to sell us Pat Park the week before another
- 29:54Speaker 1: trip to London, and they weren't bad in terms of
- 29:57Speaker 1: shot volume Newcastle and that Brentford will alway give you
- 30:00Speaker 1: shots sixteen shots for Newcastle but four goals for Brentford
- 30:03Speaker 1: and they create big chances big XG, Visa and Burmo
- 30:08Speaker 1: that the big beneficiaries aren't I there.
- 30:10Speaker 4: It's a good tip like there is a reason why
- 30:13Speaker 4: Boomo is the fourth. You know, people talk about Salah
- 30:15Speaker 4: Palmersucker the fourth midfielder in FPL by points scode and
- 30:19Speaker 4: underlying data is Brandon Boomo penalties, set pieces, ninety minutes.
- 30:23Speaker 4: We love the guy, you know, there's a reason why
- 30:25Speaker 4: he's highly owned. But at some point you need to
- 30:28Speaker 4: start thinking about what next? Can I do something else?
- 30:30Speaker 4: Can I use that money somewhere else? When you have Chelsea,
- 30:33Speaker 4: arsenal Man City, Liverpool, Bright and Away as five of
- 30:37Speaker 4: the next seven, it becomes a case of yes, you
- 30:40Speaker 4: can hold, but also if you want to sell and
- 30:43Speaker 4: use that money somewhere else, you can do that. And
- 30:45Speaker 4: I think that's where we are as sort of where
- 30:47Speaker 4: Brian and Boomo stands.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm with you there.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I think because of his price point and there's other
- 30:51Speaker 1: players we can move to, it's fine to now sell
- 30:54Speaker 1: him and the exit point is Away at Stamford Bridge.
- 30:57Speaker 1: That's a game we probably don't expect too much from Brian.
- 31:00Speaker 1: You expect that to be a Chelsea win. This is
- 31:03Speaker 1: slightly different. Because he's so cheap. You can maybe keep
- 31:07Speaker 1: him into our fixtures and you can he can play
- 31:08Speaker 1: part of your seventh fate attacker rotation if you need.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I mean this.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Since he's been at Brentford, he was kind of in
- 31:14Speaker 1: the shadow of Ivan Tony a bit. He wasn't a
- 31:16Speaker 1: guaranteed starter. But this year he's really stepped up as
- 31:19Speaker 1: the main goal threat in this team and he's clearly
- 31:21Speaker 1: I remember speaking to a Brentford coach years ago when
- 31:24Speaker 1: Tony was in the club and he said to me,
- 31:27Speaker 1: this is the best finisher in this football club by
- 31:29Speaker 1: a country mile. All the players know it, all the
- 31:31Speaker 1: coaches know it. You watch them in training and visa
- 31:32Speaker 1: over Tony all day long in terms of finishing ability,
- 31:35Speaker 1: and we're absolutely seeing that now.
- 31:37Speaker 2: He is clinical, isn't he He.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Is very good And my only issue with Wissa would
- 31:42Speaker 4: be that he is competing the cheap forward options like
- 31:46Speaker 4: we are blessed this year. There's so many good cheap
- 31:48Speaker 4: forwards with good fixtures, a lot of them on penalties
- 31:52Speaker 4: they don't deliver every week.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Now.
- 31:53Speaker 4: We've seen that with like the likes of Cornier Jean Pedro.
- 31:56Speaker 4: But if you have managed expectations, I think there's a
- 31:59Speaker 4: lot of options in the price packet. We talked about
- 32:01Speaker 4: Chris Wood already as well, so I think he's a
- 32:02Speaker 4: good pick. But again given fixtures, given the Thiago was back,
- 32:06Speaker 4: I mean he got a start, so could we see
- 32:08Speaker 4: Thiago starting and they go back to the Tony system
- 32:10Speaker 4: where Thiago is the one up top we saw left
- 32:13Speaker 4: in Boom or right, it just densely appeared a little
- 32:15Speaker 4: bit more. And then the fact that he's not on
- 32:17Speaker 4: those penalties. I just think if you have him, it's
- 32:20Speaker 4: not urgent to sell a bit like in Boomo, but
- 32:22Speaker 4: if you can move him on eventually in the next
- 32:25Speaker 4: couple of weeks, maybe maybe wait for the Nottingham first
- 32:27Speaker 4: home game in game week seventeen, maybe it's an exit point.
- 32:30Speaker 3: But I do agree he's a good pick.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Kevin Chardo as well, scoring the goals. He was bnched
- 32:34Speaker 1: because Thiago started and still got on the score sheet.
- 32:37Speaker 1: So again there is competition for places. Now everyone's fit.
- 32:40Speaker 1: With the Tiago being back fit, you know you could
- 32:42Speaker 1: see that eat into Visus minutes. But nevertheless we know
- 32:45Speaker 1: the talisman in that club, it's Brian and Burmo and
- 32:47Speaker 1: he's still you know, of course, a good pick.
- 32:49Speaker 2: What do you make in Newcastle Praz.
- 32:51Speaker 4: I think it's a case of FPL. How you think
- 32:54Speaker 4: of Newcastle versus real life, so real life, very disappointing result,
- 32:58Speaker 4: but they are you know, they have that team that
- 33:01Speaker 4: they give Liverpool a game, but then they lose to Brentford.
- 33:04Speaker 3: That's how they are a bit like Spurs.
- 33:06Speaker 4: But you can also say Newcastle are more predictable in
- 33:09Speaker 4: the sense that Newcastle at home great, Newcastle away don't
- 33:12Speaker 4: have a lot of expectations and that's where we are
- 33:14Speaker 4: with Newcastle.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I think now the next two life exactly. I know
- 33:19Speaker 1: you're locking your lips on that one. There's an Esak owner.
- 33:21Speaker 1: You're one step ahead there.
- 33:23Speaker 4: I mean Lester at home it switch away village. I
- 33:25Speaker 4: would even say Villa at home because again for the
- 33:27Speaker 4: for the home form, I just like. I just like
- 33:29Speaker 4: the fixtures for Newcastle a lot, and I think they
- 33:32Speaker 4: will be a reaction home game again, Lester are there
- 33:35Speaker 4: for the taking. I mean, mister Roy has joined, but
- 33:38Speaker 4: you know, from a defensive point of view, not a
- 33:39Speaker 4: lot has changed. They're still leaky it switch away they
- 33:43Speaker 4: always are. You know, they were trying to hold on
- 33:45Speaker 4: against Bournemouth but it didn't work and I can just
- 33:48Speaker 4: see goals there as well, So I think Esak is
- 33:50Speaker 4: a great pick. I think Gordon could be a good pick.
- 33:52Speaker 4: He was rested this game and I think he will
- 33:55Speaker 4: come back and play a lot of these games over
- 33:56Speaker 4: the Christmas period. So I like Esak and Gordon a lot.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I do. We both started the season with the pair.
- 34:02Speaker 1: We both had double Newcastle attack to start and that's
- 34:05Speaker 1: clearly the two FPL picks in that team. If you
- 34:07Speaker 1: can't get to a Newcastle attacker this week, don't always
- 34:11Speaker 1: look at it and go I need every single player.
- 34:13Speaker 2: You can't have them all, guys.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I would love E Sacs so so much, but I
- 34:17Speaker 1: can't have Trent and E Sac and I'm probably going
- 34:19Speaker 1: to prioritize Trent. So whilst the next two fixes for
- 34:22Speaker 1: Newcastle are amazing and E Sac could get big, big points,
- 34:25Speaker 1: you can't have them all and we got to remember that.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And we also need to remember Newcastle aren't the most
- 34:28Speaker 1: reliable team. Like if there's a one nil win in
- 34:31Speaker 1: one of those games where you expect the three nil win,
- 34:33Speaker 1: you're not going to be surprised with Eddie. How's Newcastle
- 34:35Speaker 1: at the minute. Brighton jau Pedro, he's getting the chances.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I mean, he's been a real popular punt for the
- 34:41Speaker 1: budget forward. Since he's been back, we haven't seen big
- 34:43Speaker 1: returns yet, but I guess they're coming today.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah, fixtures are still good.
- 34:47Speaker 4: I mean for the long term, so I would not
- 34:49Speaker 4: worry about Jean Pedro at all. Like I see people
- 34:52Speaker 4: sort of getting panicky. One return in three is not amazing,
- 34:56Speaker 4: but it's not the end of the world for a
- 34:57Speaker 4: five point four. And I mean now he's five point nine,
- 35:00Speaker 4: but a lot of people got him on the cheap.
- 35:02Speaker 4: I think you just keep patience. He's on penalties, he
- 35:04Speaker 4: will get the odd penalty. His minutes are improving now,
- 35:07Speaker 4: he's getting seventy ish minutes now, but I think over
- 35:09Speaker 4: the you know, as he gets fitter. Early season, we
- 35:12Speaker 4: were seeing he was playing a lot more minutes. So
- 35:13Speaker 4: I think they should only improve Pallace at home, Brentford home.
- 35:17Speaker 4: You know, there's a good fixtures coming up for him.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Even west Ham away is good. I think for the
- 35:21Speaker 4: long term, you don't worry about job Petro. There's other
- 35:24Speaker 4: strikers that we'll talk about. Let's say a Wolves that
- 35:26Speaker 4: we will come to that maybe become a sell in
- 35:29Speaker 4: a couple of weeks.
- 35:30Speaker 3: But Joe Pedro you just keep I think.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, And I mean Lester scoring goals under Banister Roy,
- 35:35Speaker 1: aren't they like they've seeing a bit of new manager
- 35:38Speaker 1: bounce there. How do we feel about Vardi for example?
- 35:43Speaker 4: I mean, he is again one of those that is
- 35:46Speaker 4: great value. He is seven attacking returns in his last
- 35:49Speaker 4: eight appearances, which is incredible. He just keeps delivering and
- 35:53Speaker 4: it's very difficult to say why he's a bad pick.
- 35:56Speaker 4: I have no single reason to say why he's a
- 35:58Speaker 4: bad pick. It's just that do you trust Lester over
- 36:01Speaker 4: Brighton when you're comparing jau Pedro to Vardi? Even though
- 36:04Speaker 4: Vardi is completely outscoring jao Pedro at the moment.
- 36:07Speaker 1: We have to manage our expectations to write with the
- 36:09Speaker 1: budget forwards, like you can't expect something every week. You
- 36:12Speaker 1: remember what you're paying for these guys. But also we
- 36:14Speaker 1: don't like to huge transfers there one because they can
- 36:16Speaker 1: sing you in a game, like jau Pedro can pop
- 36:18Speaker 1: up and score goals against the top teams. We've seen
- 36:20Speaker 1: that earlier this season. Yes, we're spoiled for choice. We've
- 36:23Speaker 1: mentioned so many already this pod, but you know we've
- 36:25Speaker 1: just another two there in Joao Pedro and Vardi. Kunya
- 36:28Speaker 1: is another one, like just because he's blanked for a
- 36:30Speaker 1: couple of games, he shouldn't necessarily be a sell.
- 36:33Speaker 4: I mean Wolves have still got good fixtures, right, I
- 36:35Speaker 4: mean you have to always look forward, not look backwards
- 36:38Speaker 4: with these attackers. And when you think Kunia has also
- 36:41Speaker 4: by the way, Ipswitch and Lester in his next two
- 36:43Speaker 4: absolutely don't sell. Don't sell Strandlarson like Strandlarson is a
- 36:47Speaker 4: different case. And when we talk about Wolves, he got
- 36:50Speaker 4: taken off early. But I think with these strikers you
- 36:52Speaker 4: have to look forward. So if I compare them to
- 36:54Speaker 4: a Vardi, for example, he has Newcastle away, Liverpool away,
- 36:57Speaker 4: Man City home Aston VillaWare four of his next five,
- 37:00Speaker 4: I wouldn't touch him, like, yes, he's looking great, but
- 37:03Speaker 4: you have to play the fixtures to an extent. You
- 37:05Speaker 4: saw Kunya when you had him for a good period.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Some games he disappointed, other games he hauled on the balance.
- 37:11Speaker 4: He did as you expected him to do. That's how
- 37:13Speaker 4: you have to sort of play it.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I mean that west Ham Wolves game,
- 37:17Speaker 1: Jared Bowen stepped up, didn't he like he is He's
- 37:20Speaker 1: still about Brian and Burmo being Brentford Stanner's man. Similar
- 37:23Speaker 1: Jared Burne for west Ham obviously played as a striker,
- 37:27Speaker 1: goal and assists bonus points. He's on the set pieces,
- 37:29Speaker 1: he's on pens. He takes every single box, doesn't he?
- 37:33Speaker 3: He does?
- 37:33Speaker 4: And I guess as first a word to Antonio Vishima's
- 37:36Speaker 4: fifth recovery, and I think what this means is that, Yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 4: they get to play Somerville and Kudus on the flanks,
- 37:42Speaker 4: which actually looked incredible, Like I like both of those
- 37:44Speaker 4: guys in those positions, and then it gives Boeing a
- 37:47Speaker 4: little bit of freedom to play up top and I
- 37:50Speaker 4: think it worked, but it was again I would caution
- 37:53Speaker 4: they've just played Lester, They've just played Wolves, which are
- 37:55Speaker 4: probably the two good teams that they will get. They
- 37:58Speaker 4: have decent fixtures, but it does end. The Ruan does
- 38:00Speaker 4: end very soon. So if you have Born very good,
- 38:04Speaker 4: you know you can enjoy his points in Brighton at
- 38:06Speaker 4: Horman in Southampton away. But then after that they've got
- 38:08Speaker 4: Liverpool and Man City, so I feel like it's a
- 38:10Speaker 4: stop gap if you're going for a Born.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel I said a couple of weeks ago. Look,
- 38:15Speaker 1: I like Bowen and he ticks all the boxes. But
- 38:16Speaker 1: do I want to invest seven and a half million
- 38:19Speaker 1: in a west Ham attacker? And I look at the
- 38:20Speaker 1: team and the output of the team and I'm just
- 38:22Speaker 1: not so sure I trust him. You know, they had
- 38:24Speaker 1: Everton a few weeks ago. I think it was a
- 38:25Speaker 1: Neil Neil drawer at home, like they're a team that
- 38:28Speaker 1: don't offer a huge amount in attack. But fair play
- 38:31Speaker 1: for those that had bone for the walls fixture. It's
- 38:32Speaker 1: a really nice one. But yeah, you can't expect goals
- 38:35Speaker 1: and necessary game with a lot partakey team that isn't
- 38:37Speaker 1: overly attacking. But yeah, Somerville and could have a nice,
- 38:41Speaker 1: nice pair behind him and could have obviously I think
- 38:43Speaker 1: had a five match suspension to him back in the
- 38:45Speaker 1: team is huge for him.
- 38:46Speaker 2: It is.
- 38:47Speaker 1: It is Aston Villa. They had eighteen shots versus Southampton,
- 38:52Speaker 1: they scored the goal. Odie Watkins was bench, but I
- 38:54Speaker 1: guess John Duran was always going to get a game
- 38:56Speaker 1: over this period. Odi Watkins is nine million praz even
- 38:59Speaker 1: when he's starting, and that's the vast majority of the time.
- 39:02Speaker 2: He's not been super efficient in front of goal.
- 39:04Speaker 1: He's been wasteful and it's such a good season last year,
- 39:08Speaker 1: but it feels like we're seeing the Olie Watkins of
- 39:10Speaker 1: years gone by, where offers a lot perfectly fine, good
- 39:14Speaker 1: enough pick, but perhaps lacking that clinical, cutthroat finishing.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and minutes play a big part in that, right,
- 39:20Speaker 4: I mean, you can miss three chances, but if you
- 39:22Speaker 4: score one, then everybody remembers the goalie scored, not the
- 39:24Speaker 4: three misses. When you play sixty five minutes, you miss
- 39:27Speaker 4: two of people who remember your misses. So I just
- 39:29Speaker 4: think it's a case of him not even close to
- 39:31Speaker 4: getting the minutes in comparison to his counterparts, like an Esac.
- 39:34Speaker 4: Even Jackson is getting more minutes then Watkins at the minute,
- 39:37Speaker 4: so it's difficult. I think the big plus for Watkins
- 39:40Speaker 4: is we saw him take a pen not a very
- 39:43Speaker 4: confident penalty, but he did take a pen it exactly,
- 39:47Speaker 4: but we like penalties. We like our strikers to take penalties.
- 39:49Speaker 4: If he does keep them, it does add a string
- 39:51Speaker 4: to his bow. So I am watching this, but at
- 39:54Speaker 4: the moment, as an ESAC owner and people who have Silanky,
- 39:57Speaker 4: people who have Jackson have no reason to switch to
- 39:59Speaker 4: an Olie Watkins, not yet anywhere and then we monitor.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Olie Watkins, his penalty record is down there. I
- 40:05Speaker 1: was gonna say up there. It's down there with the
- 40:07Speaker 1: worst I think in the Premier League. He's got like
- 40:09Speaker 1: something like a fifty percent conversion rate. So whilst we
- 40:12Speaker 1: always want our players taking pens, when I'm an Olie
- 40:14Speaker 1: Watkins zonean I've been there before and he's won the
- 40:17Speaker 1: penalty and I'm getting the assist anyway, I've actually been
- 40:19Speaker 1: like praying he doesn't take it because I'm just thinking
- 40:21Speaker 1: that those minus points. Yeah, it was interesting to see
- 40:24Speaker 1: that after Tilleman's had missed one the other week, Watkins
- 40:26Speaker 1: did step up and fair play slotted it past Fleck
- 40:28Speaker 1: and just about although yeah, Flecking got the hand to win.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Maybe Rogers takes the next one.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we've seen Rogers take him for the under twenty
- 40:35Speaker 1: one as, haven't we. I mean, how do you feel
- 40:36Speaker 1: about Rogers because he's still I think we talk about
- 40:39Speaker 1: like budget midfielders and Enzo and Amad in today's show.
- 40:43Speaker 1: But obviously the likes of Semeno have been great as
- 40:45Speaker 1: well Smith Thrower, Wobie. But Rogers for me, knowing that
- 40:49Speaker 1: he's started every Premier League game, so far this season
- 40:51Speaker 1: he pops up with goals. I think he's the best
- 40:53Speaker 1: eight attacko in the game. Still, I'm very happy just
- 40:56Speaker 1: setting forgetting Rogers.
- 40:58Speaker 4: I don't disagree like I think, and so one to monitor.
- 41:01Speaker 4: So maybe in three weeks we change our mind and
- 41:03Speaker 4: I think now I've got both Rogers and Enzos, so
- 41:05Speaker 4: I can actually wait and see in three weeks who
- 41:07Speaker 4: do I need to change or upgrade to an Es later.
- 41:09Speaker 4: But I think at the moment where I am is
- 41:12Speaker 4: Rogers is great. But I don't want to play him
- 41:14Speaker 4: away to Nottingham Forest. I don't want to play him
- 41:16Speaker 4: home to Man City and I don't want to play
- 41:18Speaker 4: him away to Newcaster. So the next three I would
- 41:20Speaker 4: ideally not want to play him. It's not the end
- 41:23Speaker 4: of the world if in your team, if somebody's set up,
- 41:25Speaker 4: they have to but I would ideally not want to
- 41:27Speaker 4: play him. But I do agree minute security in a
- 41:30Speaker 4: Villa team, sometimes playing ten, sometimes playing off the left
- 41:34Speaker 4: is just good stuff.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yeah, got given not to Bournemouth as well, another impressive
- 41:39Speaker 1: win and away win, but they are a good attack
- 41:41Speaker 1: I was looking at some of the numbers for sort
- 41:44Speaker 1: of big chances for goals for XG and we said
- 41:46Speaker 1: earlier Chelsea were top two in all those metrics. Bournemouth
- 41:49Speaker 1: are sort of top three, top four, top five in
- 41:51Speaker 1: all of them as well. Bournemouth are a really good
- 41:53Speaker 1: attack this year and not many of us have a
- 41:56Speaker 1: bomb attacker. Evanilsen has a bit of love, Soemnia is
- 41:59Speaker 1: a little bit more. But that's scoring goals.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Bournemouth they are.
- 42:02Speaker 4: They do share it around though, like you see Tavanir
- 42:04Speaker 4: pop up or Tara comes on and scores the goals.
- 42:07Speaker 4: You know, Clyivert get the penalty. There is no one
- 42:10Speaker 4: clear talisman there and that's where the issue is. So
- 42:12Speaker 4: a lot of people may say, hey, you know, Bournemouth
- 42:15Speaker 4: is a better attack than Wolves, why are you buying
- 42:18Speaker 4: you know, Kunya na Evanilson. The answer is simply penalties,
- 42:21Speaker 4: set pieces. You have to look at individual picks and
- 42:23Speaker 4: that's where it becomes a little bit difficult with Bornemuth.
- 42:26Speaker 4: But I do like Evandalsen. I do like some menu
- 42:28Speaker 4: a lot.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, good example that I think it's a really
- 42:32Speaker 1: fair point. We've all I've got them firm in my
- 42:35Speaker 1: watch list, but haven't gone and bought them because of
- 42:37Speaker 1: that share of points this week's European fixtures. You've obviously
- 42:40Speaker 1: made early moves, but most will be I guess wait
- 42:43Speaker 1: and see you are looking at price rises, and I
- 42:45Speaker 1: guess Pras for you you were, you were tied on funds.
- 42:48Speaker 1: But with all the most of the top teams in action,
- 42:51Speaker 1: if you can, guys, do hold your transfers. We don't
- 42:54Speaker 1: know what this week will hold. There's always news. We'll
- 42:56Speaker 1: probably hear more about some of the key injuries, like
- 42:58Speaker 1: Gabrielle as well, which is worth noting. What we see
- 43:01Speaker 1: him for Arsenal Wednesday night against against Monaco. I hope
- 43:03Speaker 1: so because he's been on the bench for a couple
- 43:05Speaker 1: of weeks and we need him.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we will, And so that basically makes it an
- 43:10Speaker 4: even bigger case to hold transfers. Now for me to
- 43:13Speaker 4: say that as somebody who's already made one, there is
- 43:16Speaker 4: context to it, right, I had three free transfers and
- 43:18Speaker 4: I've just made the one and I'm still waiting for
- 43:20Speaker 4: others to play. But if you can wait for news,
- 43:22Speaker 4: wait for you know, important updates, and react accordingly.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah, guys, make sure you're you're checking out all those
- 43:29Speaker 1: Champions League fixtures and Pras, I'll let you see yourself.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and while while you're waiting, do not forget to
- 43:36Speaker 4: listen to Jules, Kelly and Sam on this week's FPL pod.
- 43:39Speaker 4: And if you haven't already joined the Mini League, the
- 43:42Speaker 4: code is Q seven y C zero. Good to see you, Gianni.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yeah, good stuff, we'll chat against So thanks guys, take care,
