- 0:00Hello, welcome to Chatting with Cara.
- 0:02I'm Cara, your compassionate life coach, relationship with
- 0:05food specialist, and I'm here to help you understand yourself a
- 0:09little bit better each week. However you found your way here
- 0:13today, I'm glad you're listening.
- 0:14Maybe your friend sent you this episode.
- 0:16Maybe you've been with me from the start, or maybe you're just
- 0:19curious about doing things differently when it comes to
- 0:22food, your body, and how you feel about yourself.
- 0:25Whatever brought you here, you're in the right place.
- 0:28Here's what I do on the show. I have honest, kind
- 0:31conversations about the stuff that's actually holding you
- 0:34back. Not the surface level stuff, the
- 0:36deep stuff, the root causes. Because when you truly
- 0:40understand why you think and feel the way you do, then
- 0:44everything starts to change. It doesn't feel hard anymore, it
- 0:47just feels natural. So get comfortable, make
- 0:50yourself a great, and let's have a proper chat about the things
- 0:53that matter. This is chatting with Karva.
- 0:57Yes, that is right. I give my clients energy and
- 1:00you're like, how do you do that? I know because all my clients
- 1:04are busy. I don't think I've ever met a
- 1:06woman who's not busy. I don't think I've ever met a
- 1:09woman who's completely on top of everything that they want to be
- 1:12on top of that feel like they're smashing it.
- 1:14That feel like everything's going really well.
- 1:17We're all busy. Life is not set up for rest.
- 1:22It's not set up to refill your energy levels.
- 1:27It is set up to deplete them. But I give my clients energy by
- 1:32doing these four things. And the first one is really
- 1:36interesting and I've talked about this before, but Oh my
- 1:38gosh, it makes such a difference.
- 1:40It is values work. So this is making sure that
- 1:44you're living a life that you actually want.
- 1:47You're living a life that feels good to you because if there's
- 1:52some misalignment there, if there's something that's not
- 1:56where you want it to be, if there's something that's going a
- 1:58little bit off track or it's like you're doing stuff that
- 2:00goes against what you want, that can be a massive, massive energy
- 2:05drain. And it causes physical energy
- 2:10loss. It causes mental, it causes
- 2:11emotional. And once we look at our values
- 2:14and what our set of priorities are, what decisions we need to
- 2:19make around them, then honestly, energy comes back.
- 2:25Energy comes back because you can clearly see what needs to
- 2:29change or what does it need to change.
- 2:32And once you live a life in a line with your values, there's
- 2:35nothing draining your energy because it is all free flowing.
- 2:39It's like a free flowing vivid. You are going with the flow.
- 2:43You're not going against white water Rapids.
- 2:48The first thing they do to give my clients more energy is look
- 2:51at their values. If you want more information
- 2:54about values, just send me Adm and I will talk to you about
- 2:56them because they are interesting.
- 2:59It is one of the first things they do with my clients and it's
- 3:03sort of a way underpins a lot of like what we do because if your
- 3:07values are off kilter, you're not living them.
- 3:11That can cause a whole host of issues that can be rectified
- 3:15just by living in your values. So that's the first thing they
- 3:18do. The second thing they do
- 3:20exercise and you're like, oh Cara, I've not got time to
- 3:24exercise. I've not got the energy to
- 3:26exercise. When am I going to exercise?
- 3:29This is a thing. Exercise is no exercise gives
- 3:34you energy. Energy produces energy.
- 3:40I know and finding, finding exercise that you like doing
- 3:49that feels good to you releases endorphins.
- 3:53It releases like the feel good factor.
- 3:55It gives you energy even though like you've physically done some
- 3:58work, it actually makes you feel better.
- 4:02And it's a catch 22. You're like, oh, I'm knackered.
- 4:05I don't want to do any, any exercise.
- 4:07But trust me, if you exercise regularly, if you do something
- 4:12that you like regularly, you will feel the benefits both
- 4:16mentally and physically. And again with curiosity, this
- 4:21might be being like, oh, what, what can I do?
- 4:26Like what can I do when my energy is the best?
- 4:28Is it going for a walk? Is it going for a Brisco walk?
- 4:31Is it doing some Pilates? Is it going for a run?
- 4:34Is it going strength training? Is it it's a committing to a
- 4:37club run? Like what is it that gives you?
- 4:39Like what is it that you will do regularly and do it, do it and
- 4:46then feel the benefits because once you do it, you'll do it
- 4:48again and again and again. Trust me, energy produces
- 4:51energy. Next thing I do, my clients is
- 4:56seems obvious, but we're not interacting or anything like
- 5:00this. It is well, look at actual sleep
- 5:03and rest, actual sleep. How do you sleep and what you
- 5:07sleep and how like how much do you get in do how much do you
- 5:10need? I am knee deep in like toddler
- 5:15sleep and I follow this excellent lady.
- 5:18She's fantastic. I didn't know anything about
- 5:20this baby sleep or toddler sleep before I followed her.
- 5:25She's local she's and she's really good.
- 5:27She's very evidence based, which is what I like, but very
- 5:30compassionate, a bit like me. And she's like, if a baby, if a
- 5:37toddler doesn't want to go for a nap, don't force it.
- 5:39Just give them like something like 30 minutes to do for
- 5:41something else and try again. Like people have a set number of
- 5:46hours that feels good to them to sleep.
- 5:48And if you try and make a toddler sleep from like 7 till
- 5:517:00 and then feel disappointed when they wake up at 5:00
- 5:55because they only need 10 hours sleep, like don't try and force
- 5:58them to feel like they need to sleep till 7 because that's not
- 6:01going to happen, is it? So why do we do that for
- 6:04ourselves? Your sleep needs need to reflect
- 6:09what you need, and it needs to reflect what time you go to bed
- 6:12and what time you get up. And that's kind of a, oh, what's
- 6:18it called boundary? It is the boundary that you
- 6:22uphold for yourself. If you know you need a good
- 6:25amount of sleep, you need to be really like, actually, I need to
- 6:29be going to sleep at half nine. So I need to start thinking
- 6:33about going to bed at 9:00. There's no good like looking at
- 6:40your phone and then all of a sudden it's like 10:00.
- 6:44It's like putting in boundaries that make sure that you get the
- 6:47right amount of sleep and also the right amount of rest as
- 6:52well. So rest is a really important
- 6:56one and it's not just physical rest I'm talking about here.
- 7:01So there's seven types of rest. So there's physical rest that is
- 7:03literally like lying on sofa venously.
- 7:05There's mental, which is like you're not using your brain
- 7:09sensory where you are not being like overloaded.
- 7:13All the sensory stuff like noise, lights, like all the
- 7:18sensory stuff, emotional. So that is dealing with
- 7:23emotions, that is like, or allowing your emotions to come
- 7:29out like instead of like, oh, what's it called?
- 7:32Regulating. And that's what I mean, social,
- 7:35as an introvert, I can relate to this social rest, like not being
- 7:41around people or if you're an extrovert, being around people,
- 7:47creative. So like using your hands to do
- 7:49something, using your mind to be free, like that sort of thing,
- 7:53and also spiritual. So there's seven types of rest
- 7:57and sometimes we need different types of rest.
- 8:00I know that I need social rest more than I need physical rest.
- 8:05I know that if I have too much physical rest and not not enough
- 8:12social rest, that's not good for me.
- 8:15So it's knowing what rest you need.
- 8:20It doesn't have to be physical rest.
- 8:22So I want you to have a little think about that, like, oh,
- 8:24actually, yeah, I've got a lot mentally on my plate.
- 8:27How can I take a bit of mental pressure off myself and have
- 8:30that rest? When I do this with my clients,
- 8:36a lot of them are really interested in this because I had
- 8:40one lady, she's fantastic. She was physically, she was ill,
- 8:44she had a chest infection, but she's a musician and she really
- 8:47missed making music because that was like her spiritual and
- 8:52creative outlet. But she physically couldn't do
- 8:54it because she, she couldn't really breathe very well.
- 8:58So it's like physical rest impacted her creative and
- 9:02spiritual rest, but then she didn't have any energy.
- 9:06So once you know that, you can be like, oh, right, OK, when I
- 9:09do have a bit more energy, I need to learn into creative rest
- 9:12or spiritual rest. It's all about knowing what
- 9:16fills your cup up and what drains you.
- 9:18And then the last thing that I do with my clients is look at
- 9:22supplements. And there's a reason why this is
- 9:24last, because it is the tip of the triangle.
- 9:27There's nothing going to be revolutionary here that's going
- 9:29to make people, it's not magic pill, it gives people energy,
- 9:32but it might just harness some energy that they've got.
- 9:34So I look at supplements. Have they got any vitamin D?
- 9:37Have they got a multivitamin, omega-3, creatine, that sort of
- 9:42thing And we plug those holes and that is how I give my
- 9:47clients more energy. Now if you thinking, oh,
- 9:52actually I could deal with more energy because my decision
- 9:55making goes to pot when I'm not feeling great, when I'm
- 9:59depleted. Where Yeah, you're right, you're
- 10:01going. I'm not tired.
- 10:02I think you are. Then shoot me DM on social media
- 10:11or book a free consultation called in the show notes because
- 10:16this is what I do daily. I do this daily with my clients
- 10:20because once they have more energy, they make better
- 10:24decisions. And if you're going to the
- 10:26fridge or the snack cupboard or the pantry at 9:30 at night and
- 10:31you're delving in to food or you are self sabotaging, then let's
- 10:36have a chat because we can give you more energy to stop that
- 10:40from happening. And with that, thank you very
- 10:43much. Please act with curiosity and
