- 0:01Speaker 1: The Field of Bad Dreams, the Field of screams, anything else,
- 0:05Speaker 1: any other puns.
- 0:06Speaker 2: So we got it.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It wasn't good. The Children of the Corn a rough
- 0:11Speaker 1: one for the Twins on Thursday in Iowa. In the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Field of Dreams game, a seven to one loss to
- 0:17Speaker 1: the Phillies. We'll talk about everything from that game. Dan
- 0:20Speaker 1: was there. I want to hear about what that was like.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Byron Buxton is back. Alex Jackson DFA. Two more games
- 0:26Speaker 1: coming up against the Phillies.
- 0:27Speaker 2: It's Saturday.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We're coming to you a day late because yesterday was
- 0:30Speaker 1: complicated for the three of us to find a time
- 0:32Speaker 1: to get together. So here we are on this Saturday
- 0:35Speaker 1: morning on Twins Cities Territory or Minnesota Twins Podcast here
- 0:38Speaker 1: on the File Territory Network. Let's start with the Field
- 0:41Speaker 1: of Dreams game, guys, A seven to one loss to
- 0:43Speaker 1: the Phillies. Not great all around, but I will say
- 0:48Speaker 1: it's one game, and the and the most important thing
- 0:51Speaker 1: in the Field of Dreams game is that somebody please
- 0:54Speaker 1: hit a home run into the corn or else. It's
- 0:56Speaker 1: all for nothing then, and we got it on the
- 0:58Speaker 1: first batter of the games in that sense. Other than that, though,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Dan pretty ugly.
- 1:04Speaker 2: No, it wasn't a good game. You know, Tod Bradley
- 1:07Speaker 2: struggled early on, and I thought Todge Bradley looked like
- 1:09Speaker 2: he was gona recover in the base is loaded, he
- 1:12Speaker 2: was down to nothing. He gets out of that jam,
- 1:15Speaker 2: did a good job, put together two quick innings after that.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I thought, you know, he was making his way back.
- 1:21Speaker 2: That walk, I think it was a one out walk
- 1:23Speaker 2: in the or two out walk in the fourth inning.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Stolen base and then the two run homer. The walks
- 1:30Speaker 2: killed me. He walked four guys. To be fair, if
- 1:34Speaker 2: Luke Keishall can make that play, and that was a
- 1:38Speaker 2: he went a long way he did. Like it's challenging
- 1:41Speaker 2: no matter who that is. That's not a simple catch.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I know it hits the glove, and when it hits
- 1:46Speaker 2: the glove, people think they should make the catch. And
- 1:48Speaker 2: Luke Keishall, to be fair, did say I think I
- 1:50Speaker 2: should have made the catch. I would still say it
- 1:54Speaker 2: was a difficult play. But that really spiraling things out
- 1:56Speaker 2: of control. When when he doesn't get that and it's
- 1:59Speaker 2: four to one, gives up the double, immediately gives up
- 2:01Speaker 2: a single. It's five to one. You know, Paul. Game
- 2:04Speaker 2: was basically over, and the Twins, to their credit, they
- 2:06Speaker 2: did battle back and try to put some things together
- 2:09Speaker 2: Byron Bucks and had the the two out double in
- 2:12Speaker 2: the fourth that led to the bases loaded. Royce Lewis
- 2:16Speaker 2: then super aggressive. Aaron Nolan was very good. I mean,
- 2:20Speaker 2: Aaron curve.
- 2:26Speaker 3: They're just no, it's just kept being said. I'm like,
- 2:29Speaker 3: oh my god.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yes, he used the pitch quite well, and the broadcast
- 2:33Speaker 1: made sure you were aware of that.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah he yeah, I mean that was nasty, Like Royce
- 2:39Speaker 2: Lewis swung and missed at three pitches and that was
- 2:42Speaker 2: an aggressive at bat, and all of a sudden, you know.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The second you're talking about the bases loaded at bat. Yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: the second one he took and I don't think it
- 2:52Speaker 1: was a strike. They called it a strike, but of
- 2:54Speaker 1: course I don't. We didn't even have then, we didn't
- 2:58Speaker 1: even have the white box on the screen. At least
- 2:59Speaker 1: give me the box. Yeah, that's what I can.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Oh wow, Oh, I so I did. I couldn't watch.
- 3:04Speaker 2: You know, I had no way to watch the game,
- 3:06Speaker 2: so I didn't. I knew there was no abs, but
- 3:09Speaker 2: but I like no visual.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah, the second pitch looked a little you know, high
- 3:14Speaker 1: and a way, and I think maybe in an ABS
- 3:17Speaker 1: world he would have he would have tapped the helmet
- 3:19Speaker 1: on that one. And maybe I'm wrong, but obviously would
- 3:21Speaker 1: have changed the bat if it wasn't two for that
- 3:24Speaker 1: third pitch when you knew it and you knew the
- 3:26Speaker 1: knuckle curve was coming, because the broadcast made sure you
- 3:30Speaker 1: knew and you couldn't lay off. But he had that
- 3:33Speaker 1: about He also had in a bat with two on
- 3:34Speaker 1: in the first inning. I want to say, so, yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you know, not to put it on on Lewis. Of
- 3:39Speaker 1: course he's been one of the few.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Right, yeah, yeah, like Nola.
- 3:47Speaker 4: You just ran into number one Nola, not number three
- 3:50Speaker 4: or four Nola.
- 3:51Speaker 3: You know that was vintage.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Here it comes, you know it's coming, and you're gonna
- 3:56Speaker 4: swing like it's a fastball and it's going to be
- 3:58Speaker 4: in the dirt, like it's just one of those. And
- 4:00Speaker 4: I think that pitch is working, Like there are moments
- 4:02Speaker 4: where I had those outings too, and it's like, good luck, boys,
- 4:06Speaker 4: because you're not getting it today. And when he punched
- 4:07Speaker 4: out ten, I think through five, like, I mean, it's
- 4:11Speaker 4: good luck. You know, get to the bullpen and then
- 4:13Speaker 4: and then they end up throwing Doran up six, like
- 4:17Speaker 4: took away any chance.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Okay, there's the nailing the coffin.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I mean I said this somewhere else yesterday, Like at
- 4:24Speaker 2: that point, I know the Phillies writers pretty well. And
- 4:28Speaker 2: I turned around to them. You know, their right the
- 4:30Speaker 2: row right behind us, and this is a very outdoor
- 4:34Speaker 2: press box. Yeah no, no, there's no corn in the
- 4:37Speaker 2: press box. But I turned to the riders. I was like, oh,
- 4:39Speaker 2: so you got to just throw some fuel on the
- 4:41Speaker 2: fire here. I mean, it's seven to one in the
- 4:43Speaker 2: ninth inning. We're gonna just go. And we already saw
- 4:49Speaker 2: Louis and Riaz go three for five, and now you
- 4:51Speaker 2: got bring in Duran and and just you know, wreck
- 4:54Speaker 2: Twins fans a little bit more with the with the
- 4:58Speaker 2: ninth all around. You know, look it's a one off.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Throw the game out, do not. I don't look at
- 5:04Speaker 2: the game. It's funny. Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I think the two balls they hit the center were
- 5:11Speaker 2: hit better than the balls he hit to right. Yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 2: there was some weird wind coming across the field the
- 5:17Speaker 2: whole game, and like in batting practice, Bucks Byron Buckson
- 5:22Speaker 2: said it. He was like, you know, you saw guys
- 5:25Speaker 2: driving balls and they'd barely get out. So then the
- 5:29Speaker 2: fact that there was no structure around it did create
- 5:32Speaker 2: weird like wind to this game that does not Kyle
- 5:37Speaker 2: Schwarber hit legitimately two home runs. My point more is
- 5:40Speaker 2: maybe Kyle Schwarber could have hit three or possibly for
- 5:44Speaker 2: the little gone much much further. Yeah, like they both died
- 5:48Speaker 2: and the ball died the center field all night. Byron
- 5:51Speaker 2: talked about a post game that when he got the
- 5:53Speaker 2: second after his double, either Stot or I think it
- 5:57Speaker 2: was Trey Turner came over and said jo him, like,
- 6:00Speaker 2: a like the balls being weird, isn't it. He's like, yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 2: you could say that. It's like it was a it
- 6:08Speaker 2: was not a it was a weird conditions. It was
- 6:11Speaker 2: beautiful like everything about it. And we'll get more into
- 6:14Speaker 2: the behind the scenes stuff and a little bit, but
- 6:17Speaker 2: the field was great. It's just it's totally different. I mean,
- 6:20Speaker 2: you were there's no concrete building around there to knock
- 6:23Speaker 2: down the winds. You you know, if you play target field,
- 6:28Speaker 2: you know what the conditions are like. If you're the Twins,
- 6:30Speaker 2: you know where to hit it. Brooks Lee hit a
- 6:31Speaker 2: bomb and it died like you just saw it. A
- 6:34Speaker 2: couple of times where balls that normally get out didn't.
- 6:38Speaker 2: It was a weird night. It was kind of mild.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It was at the end it was actually chilly. It
- 6:42Speaker 2: was for Iowa and August. You're expected ninety five and sweaty,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and it was definitely humid, but it was more like
- 6:49Speaker 2: seventy and breezy and humid. It was. It was a
- 6:54Speaker 2: unique experience, and the lack of abs is weird too,
- 6:58Speaker 2: Like Louis rise in the first sinning with the taps
- 7:02Speaker 2: and then realizing it it was, you know, like there
- 7:06Speaker 2: were just some things about it that were different. So
- 7:09Speaker 2: I think you look at that and you go, okay,
- 7:12Speaker 2: well we'll start over again on Saturday. But that's not
- 7:15Speaker 2: to say the Phillies aren't by far. You know, they're
- 7:17Speaker 2: a better team. They are. They're the Phillies there.
- 7:19Speaker 3: They're a huge.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it is that has been struggling too lately.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It has. Yeah. In fact, their writers were talking about
- 7:28Speaker 2: how they're coming in. Man, things are falling apart, and
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm like, they're they're on the outside looking in. As
- 7:35Speaker 2: far as a wild card going into that game. I'm like,
- 7:37Speaker 2: the Twins are sixty and sixty two and they're half
- 7:40Speaker 2: game out and they're thrilled. It's just so funny to
- 7:43Speaker 2: see National League teams and the difference in perspective between
- 7:46Speaker 2: the National League teams and what's going on the other
- 7:49Speaker 2: day with Dave robertson the Dodgers are playing like a
- 7:52Speaker 2: wild card team, and I had to look and I
- 7:53Speaker 2: was like, I knew the Potteries had been hot. I'm like,
- 7:56Speaker 2: but are the Dodgers not in first? And I looked
- 7:57Speaker 2: at the Dodgers still like a five game lead the
- 7:59Speaker 2: Divisi and I'm like, yeah, that's not a wildcard team.
- 8:02Speaker 2: That's a team going through a normal slump in the
- 8:04Speaker 2: middle of the season. It's August. It's gonna be fine.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And then Dave Roberts knows that he's just using some
- 8:09Speaker 2: motivational tactics, but like, it's funny because the Phillies definitely
- 8:15Speaker 2: are a loaded lineup, they have some ballpen issues. They're
- 8:18Speaker 2: gonna be fine.
- 8:21Speaker 1: The Twins did not play yesterday Friday and actually gained
- 8:25Speaker 1: ground in the wildcard. Speaking of the wildcard, here's the
- 8:28Speaker 1: look at the American League picture. If you're watching on YouTube.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Twins still a half game out, Tigers now in that
- 8:34Speaker 1: third slot, but everybody ahead of them, including the Yankees
- 8:37Speaker 1: and Red Sox, not that they're too worried about catching
- 8:39Speaker 1: either of those teams, but everybody ahead of them in
- 8:41Speaker 1: the standings lost. On Friday, Twins tied with the Rangers
- 8:44Speaker 1: half game out. The Tigers, of course, lost to the
- 8:48Speaker 1: White Sox, so Twins lost a little ground in the
- 8:50Speaker 1: al central standings, but there are still six teams within
- 8:55Speaker 1: a half game of that final spot that is currently
- 8:58Speaker 1: occupied by the Tigers, two games under five hundred. So
- 9:02Speaker 1: this very interesting, This slow speed race continues, Twins. You know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: like yet we get so caught up in the micro
- 9:12Speaker 1: moments of the season, and like Thursday was deflating. Obviously
- 9:16Speaker 1: you want to have a better showing in a game
- 9:18Speaker 1: like that. But then you wake up this morning and
- 9:21Speaker 1: the picture is just as good, if not better than
- 9:23Speaker 1: it was Thursday morning. Sows, Twins still have it right
- 9:28Speaker 1: there in front of them, if they can get things going.
- 9:31Speaker 1: One trend that's been not so good, and that wasn't
- 9:35Speaker 1: any different about the Field of Dreams game thirteen of
- 9:38Speaker 1: their last fifteen games. Now the Twins have given up
- 9:40Speaker 1: the first runs of the game and it's happened in
- 9:42Speaker 1: the first inning in ten of those games. Six and
- 9:45Speaker 1: nine is their overall record, and six of their last
- 9:49Speaker 1: seven they've fallen behind in the first inning. So I
- 9:52Speaker 1: don't think the first inning was not the only culprit
- 9:54Speaker 1: on Thursday, for sure, but in some of those games
- 9:56Speaker 1: it has been. And it's just Tyler been a real
- 9:59Speaker 1: tough thing, start from behind every single night.
- 10:02Speaker 4: And then we kind of joked about, you know, Clemmens,
- 10:05Speaker 4: you know, throwing extra pitches before outings in the bullpen,
- 10:08Speaker 4: things like that, like who knows what the fix is,
- 10:12Speaker 4: you know, whether it's whether it's a focused thing.
- 10:15Speaker 3: You know, I don't know what it.
- 10:16Speaker 4: You know, maybe somebody needs to get a little cattle
- 10:18Speaker 4: fraud out there and just get some adrenaline going. But
- 10:22Speaker 4: you know, it's just like that sharpness, the effectiveness isn't
- 10:25Speaker 4: quite there in the first inning for whatever reason, you know,
- 10:28Speaker 4: and it it keeps showing itself, and it really is.
- 10:31Speaker 4: It's becoming the trend. But obviously, you know, Phillies they
- 10:34Speaker 4: won by six, but a lot of those other games
- 10:38Speaker 4: it was the difference in the ballgame, and it happened
- 10:40Speaker 4: in the first inning.
- 10:41Speaker 3: You know, it's quick two runs and then lose by one.
- 10:44Speaker 4: You know, make us make a push at the in
- 10:46Speaker 4: the ninth to score one, and you lose by one again,
- 10:48Speaker 4: And it's just a it's a tough spot to be
- 10:52Speaker 4: and when it's it's seemingly every single guy. I don't
- 10:56Speaker 4: know if that's a plan of attack thing. Maybe we're
- 10:59Speaker 4: going into these innings a little complacent, you know, whatever
- 11:03Speaker 4: it may be, but you've got to be ready to
- 11:05Speaker 4: attack pitch one. You know, you got guys like obviously
- 11:08Speaker 4: Schwarber's unique in himself, but like you got a guy.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Like him, like he comes up ready to hit. You
- 11:13Speaker 3: miss over that play, he's gonna get you.
- 11:14Speaker 4: And and it's just the it seems like guys just
- 11:18Speaker 4: aren't quite locked in, I guess would be the best
- 11:22Speaker 4: way to say it. You know, they're they're not sharp
- 11:24Speaker 4: coming into the strike zone, and then when they get
- 11:26Speaker 4: ahead of guys, they're leaving stuff over the middle. And
- 11:29Speaker 4: it's one of those it's it's happened now long enough
- 11:32Speaker 4: to where it almost I'm sure they're having meetings and
- 11:35Speaker 4: addressing it. You're like, hey, guys, we got to do this,
- 11:38Speaker 4: you know, and you've heard Pete talk a few times
- 11:40Speaker 4: about getting out of the zone with two strikes and
- 11:43Speaker 4: things like that, which are all great, but doing.
- 11:46Speaker 3: It in the game is what matters the most.
- 11:48Speaker 4: And it seems like we're just having small lapses in
- 11:51Speaker 4: some of these moments where it's really affecting the game.
- 11:54Speaker 3: And you know.
- 11:56Speaker 4: In Ta Taj earlier in the year, his you know
- 12:00Speaker 4: that weird outing in Detroit where the ball is like
- 12:01Speaker 4: flying all over the place, and it seems like he
- 12:04Speaker 4: has that a little more often than just then, like
- 12:07Speaker 4: it's you know, maybe once a game now, but he
- 12:09Speaker 4: seems to sail a pitch here and there, like just
- 12:11Speaker 4: straight to the backstop, and he had some grip stuff
- 12:15Speaker 4: it looked.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Like in Iowa. You know, it's I'd be interested to.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Know if there's something, you know, whether he's got a
- 12:20Speaker 4: little thing or it's just like he gets sweaty, like
- 12:22Speaker 4: I don't because he literally will just launch a splitter
- 12:25Speaker 4: to the backstop half the time, and it's just like
- 12:27Speaker 4: every time it catch him off guard, like what said,
- 12:30Speaker 4: because normally it's it's you know, an injury thing, but
- 12:33Speaker 4: you know, it's just a I don't know it's one
- 12:35Speaker 4: of those weird ones. Like I said, go, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 4: take a different set of stairs to the bullpen. You know,
- 12:39Speaker 4: change up your routine, you know, do put on your
- 12:41Speaker 4: cleats backwards.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Whatever. You come up to the owl line.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yeah, step on it. You know I used to stop
- 12:50Speaker 3: that thing.
- 12:52Speaker 1: We will take a quick break. Well more on the
- 12:54Speaker 1: Field of Dreams game Byron Buckston Alex Jackson.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Right after this, let's talk Fabletics, shall we. They have
- 13:04Speaker 5: apparel for every season. We're wearing it as we talk
- 13:07Speaker 5: about it. It's soft, it's comfortable. I wear it on
- 13:09Speaker 5: the show sometimes on FT. What else do you love
- 13:12Speaker 5: about it? Krats?
- 13:13Speaker 6: Well, I have it on right now, and I'm all
- 13:15Speaker 6: about quality. But you know what, you know how good
- 13:19Speaker 6: your clothes are when you're a parent and your kids
- 13:22Speaker 6: keep stealing all of it. My daughter stole the sweatshirt,
- 13:25Speaker 6: my son sole one of my t shirts. So it's
- 13:28Speaker 6: got to be nice looking.
- 13:29Speaker 5: And if it gets a little bit chillier then it's
- 13:32Speaker 5: layering season, and they've got layers for the fall. Shop
- 13:36Speaker 5: now at fabletics dot com slash foul to get seventy
- 13:39Speaker 5: to eighty percent off everything. When you sign up as

- 13:51Speaker 5: That's fabletics dot Com slash Foul for seventy to eighty
- 13:57Speaker 5: percent off everything as a new VIP.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Dan, you teased it on our last show, and then
- 14:05Speaker 1: it came true. Shortly before the Field of Dreams game
- 14:09Speaker 1: on Thursday, the Twins announced that Byron Buxton was back
- 14:12Speaker 1: off the injured list. Dan wrote about that on The
- 14:16Speaker 1: Athletic in his most recent story from the Field of
- 14:18Speaker 1: Dreams game. Buxton back for the for the time being,
- 14:23Speaker 1: they didn't have to make a corresponding move because they
- 14:25Speaker 1: got an extra roster spot for the game. But then
- 14:27Speaker 1: after the game dfad Alex Jackson to make room for Bucks.
- 14:31Speaker 1: We'll talk about Jackson in a minute, but first off, obviously,
- 14:34Speaker 1: Buxton coming back Dan a huge boost for the team.
- 14:38Speaker 1: He got a double on on Thursday in the field, smoked.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Past third base. Yes, I think that was a real double.
- 14:48Speaker 2: He spent. The part that was the most important about
- 14:50Speaker 2: that was they had to turn on the jets to
- 14:52Speaker 2: get to second and he said after the game that
- 14:55Speaker 2: I wasn't thinking about the hip, like he said, I'm
- 14:59Speaker 2: comfortab Essentially, he said, it's not something that that he's
- 15:04Speaker 2: preoccupied with, which I think earlier he was. And so
- 15:07Speaker 2: for that reason, that's a great sign. They need him
- 15:10Speaker 2: to be in that spot where he can just go
- 15:12Speaker 2: and be himself. And they chose Thursday because he got
- 15:15Speaker 2: to come back and play. He was the twenty seventh man.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Nobody had to be moved out. I guess part of
- 15:20Speaker 2: the CBA was events like that. You get twenty seven players,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you treat it like a doubleheader just because you're going
- 15:26Speaker 2: somewhere weird Iowa. With all the logistical stuff, you can
- 15:30Speaker 2: bring extra guys, and so they brought him. He played,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and then they had to make the move afterwards. But
- 15:37Speaker 2: you know, with they knew that they had a day
- 15:39Speaker 2: off Friday, and that was the big deal Murner was
- 15:42Speaker 2: now that they give him a day of to recuperate
- 15:45Speaker 2: and then he can go back out and play tonight
- 15:48Speaker 2: because they weren't bringing him back to be the DH
- 15:50Speaker 2: they were bringing him back to the center field and
- 15:52Speaker 2: that was always a priority for them. It sped up
- 15:56Speaker 2: real quick because I'm not gonna lie. When we were
- 15:57Speaker 2: in Kansas City, I had no idea that Byron Buckson
- 16:00Speaker 2: would be back within a week. I would have thought
- 16:02Speaker 2: it was gonna still be an other ten days. He
- 16:05Speaker 2: started doing work in Milwaukee Friday, Saturday, Sunday, hit on
- 16:11Speaker 2: the field on Monday, and it sped up real quick.
- 16:14Speaker 2: He actually said he hoped to be back last Friday
- 16:17Speaker 2: in Milwaukee, but the body wasn't quite ready and he
- 16:20Speaker 2: knew it. But he's not in that spot now, and
- 16:23Speaker 2: I think he's feeling good. And that's a great sign
- 16:26Speaker 2: because here we are, we're talking about you know, I
- 16:28Speaker 2: know we're talking about first day and the pitching, but
- 16:31Speaker 2: we've talked a lot about the offensive issues, and I
- 16:33Speaker 2: think with Byron back a lot of those issues, you've
- 16:38Speaker 2: lost your catalyst for most of the second half. They've
- 16:43Speaker 2: they've been back since July seventeenth, I think or eighteenth,
- 16:47Speaker 2: and he's played seven games and he had a very
- 16:49Speaker 2: low OPS in those seven games. It was like under
- 16:52Speaker 2: I think it was under four hundred. I think it
- 16:54Speaker 2: was a three seventy two OPS. He had it, he did,
- 16:59Speaker 2: he just wasn't right, and I think he if he
- 17:02Speaker 2: is right, and we'll see we'll get to approof more
- 17:04Speaker 2: and more over this time. If he is right, we
- 17:07Speaker 2: will get a good chance to see what he can do.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Because adding him back in, you got Roy slowis going great,
- 17:13Speaker 2: Josh Bell is going great. Luke Keishaw has been on
- 17:18Speaker 2: like incredible, like since May two. Luke Keishall's on basis
- 17:21Speaker 2: four oh three with a four to twenty slug so
- 17:24Speaker 2: like he's starting to drive the ball now to.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And one the corn big stat.
- 17:28Speaker 2: There one horn very nice.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Only three players and May Baseball can say that.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I feel like their offense can get back a lot
- 17:37Speaker 2: by having Byron Bucks and just having that threat of
- 17:40Speaker 2: Byron buckson because he's good Bade, He's wear down that pitcher.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yes, exactly.
- 17:47Speaker 4: So you're playing in an All Star Yeah yeah, he
- 17:51Speaker 4: can hit with the best of him.
- 17:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 17:53Speaker 3: It's it's it's a trade deadline move.
- 17:57Speaker 2: That's right. I love how those are always like that.
- 18:00Speaker 2: The timing's critical. I mean, this is a they're playing
- 18:03Speaker 2: Philly for two more, they play Atlanta for three, they
- 18:05Speaker 2: play at San Diego, and really the Twins, I feel like,
- 18:09Speaker 2: if they can get through this, if they could win
- 18:11Speaker 2: four of these eight somehow and you're at home for
- 18:13Speaker 2: five of them. If you can win three against Philly
- 18:16Speaker 2: and Atlanta, that's good. It's gonna be a challenge. I'm
- 18:18Speaker 2: not even trying to pretend like it's not. But if
- 18:21Speaker 2: you can win three somehow and get to San Diego
- 18:24Speaker 2: and win one and you get through this stretch of
- 18:26Speaker 2: games at four and four, you know you're one. You're
- 18:31Speaker 2: feeling good about yourself because that's a tough spate of games,
- 18:35Speaker 2: but also like you're probably not gonna fall out too
- 18:38Speaker 2: far in the wild card race by doing that. And
- 18:41Speaker 2: then you have a whole bunch of White Sox and
- 18:42Speaker 2: Tigers back to back to back, and you just need
- 18:45Speaker 2: to get you know, through this and get into the
- 18:48Speaker 2: American League again. And there's also the Athletics series at Sacramento,
- 18:51Speaker 2: so Buckston being back is critical for sure.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, So this is all about the next twelve days
- 18:59Speaker 1: or however it is. Just get to that stretch of
- 19:03Speaker 1: is it fifteen straight games against Ale Central teams.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I think Cleveland comes at the end of that.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Yeah, put yourself in in no worse position than you
- 19:12Speaker 1: are now entering that stretch. You've got a shot, right.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Treada tread water till you play the Central and then
- 19:23Speaker 4: you got to just take two out of three from
- 19:24Speaker 4: everybody and that's all you gotta do, sweep or crazy like,
- 19:29Speaker 4: keep winning.
- 19:30Speaker 1: And then it's an advantageous ending to four in LA
- 19:33Speaker 1: against the Angels, three in San Francisco against the Giants,
- 19:36Speaker 1: and then three at home against Texas, which might still
- 19:39Speaker 1: be in it at that point. But handle them in
- 19:41Speaker 1: Texas and at least will be at home for the finale,
- 19:43Speaker 1: so we'll see if they can get there. But the
- 19:47Speaker 1: the on the other end of the Buxton situation, Alex
- 19:50Speaker 1: Jackson sent out the faid he had done very well
- 19:54Speaker 1: as as sort of the fill in with Jeffers hurt,
- 19:57Speaker 1: of course, but seemed to inevitable with three catchers on
- 20:01Speaker 1: the roster and needing to lose somebody that it would
- 20:04Speaker 1: be him with Jeffers back now healthy, but still what
- 20:08Speaker 1: was he hitting Dan three hundred over three five?
- 20:12Speaker 2: And I think it just came down to since Jeffers
- 20:15Speaker 2: came back. I looked it up and was he played
- 20:17Speaker 2: eight times in twenty nine games, and at least one
- 20:20Speaker 2: of those was as a pinch runner. It might have
- 20:22Speaker 2: been two as a pinch runner which he has that
- 20:24Speaker 2: value faster, faster guy for a catcher. He didn't, I
- 20:29Speaker 2: didn't look the twenty sixth spot is not going to
- 20:32Speaker 2: crush it too often when you're when you're healthy, you're
- 20:36Speaker 2: not really playing that twenty six man very often at all.
- 20:39Speaker 2: You can look at the bats historically, it's just it's
- 20:42Speaker 2: a spot you can get away with hiding somebody. But
- 20:44Speaker 2: when Buckson came back, it kind of made it moot
- 20:47Speaker 2: because they were going to keep Allen Road and give
- 20:49Speaker 2: him more chances in the outfield, and I think it
- 20:53Speaker 2: just became time. I know Tyler like has a really
- 20:56Speaker 2: good point about this with keeping him, but like, like
- 21:04Speaker 2: the one thing with it real quick, Uh, they wanted
- 21:07Speaker 2: to get him through the Field of Dreams game. They
- 21:09Speaker 2: acknowledge Ales Jackson's been a really good teammate. They like this.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Photo he was.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And they were happy for him on that. And it
- 21:19Speaker 2: was funny after the game we saw him hugging and
- 21:21Speaker 2: we saw him and we're like, they're not going to
- 21:23Speaker 2: just leave him here right like he had. They're gonna
- 21:25Speaker 2: put he did get on the plane. Sometimes it does
- 21:31Speaker 2: because I I the first series I recovered the White
- 21:34Speaker 2: Sox in twenty twelve, there was a veteran lefty and
- 21:39Speaker 2: he got rocked at target Field, gave up five out
- 21:43Speaker 2: of the bullpen and they dfad him. And I heard
- 21:47Speaker 2: the quote afterwards was Kenny Williams said, your teammates don't
- 21:50Speaker 2: He wanted to go to New York because his family
- 21:51Speaker 2: was meeting him in New York where where the White
- 21:53Speaker 2: Sox were going, and his family was there, and Kenny
- 21:56Speaker 2: Williams said, they don't. You're not going. They don't want
- 22:00Speaker 2: you on that plane, and they didn't let him go
- 22:01Speaker 2: on the team plane. Alex Jackson did go on the
- 22:05Speaker 2: team plane back from Iowa. That would be pretty tough
- 22:07Speaker 2: to find a flight from Dubuque to Minneapolis, so that's
- 22:12Speaker 2: Minnesota and ice right logistically. Yeah, but yeah, it was.
- 22:16Speaker 2: It was definitely. They acknowledged it was a tough decision.
- 22:19Speaker 2: They were glad he got to at least play be
- 22:21Speaker 2: at the Field of Dreams, but they acknowledged it was
- 22:23Speaker 2: a difficult decision.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And uh Tyler a bit unfortunate to lose him. Obviously.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I don't know all the machinations that were discussed around
- 22:34Speaker 1: the trade deadline, but it seems like he could be
- 22:36Speaker 1: someone that gets scooped up pretty quick.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know, like you Dan kind of mentioned,
- 22:42Speaker 4: I texted you. It was like, you know, kind of
- 22:45Speaker 4: odd time, not odd timing, just unfortunate to have to
- 22:48Speaker 4: make that move because a week and a half or
- 22:51Speaker 4: however long ago, two weeks ago, you could have moved
- 22:53Speaker 4: him and gotten something. You know, he's a serviceable catcher
- 22:57Speaker 4: in the big leagues. He's hitting three or five in
- 22:59Speaker 4: a small sample. You can pinch run, he can move
- 23:02Speaker 4: around the field like he had some value for another
- 23:06Speaker 4: team potentially, you know, and being obviously expendable at this point,
- 23:12Speaker 4: you know, over other guys that maybe you could have
- 23:14Speaker 4: moved on from potentially. So it was just an odd one.
- 23:17Speaker 4: But at the same time, like carrying three catchers is
- 23:19Speaker 4: super rare, you know. I remember we did it a
- 23:22Speaker 4: couple of times my years of Minnesota and it was
- 23:25Speaker 4: one of those it's like, you know, they they barely
- 23:27Speaker 4: see the field, you know, And Dan said that historically
- 23:30Speaker 4: they're super small, you know, amounts of games played in
- 23:33Speaker 4: at bats. But you know, it's one that it's good
- 23:36Speaker 4: for him. You know, somebody's gonna grab him, you know,
- 23:38Speaker 4: you hopefully for him. It's a contender or or a
- 23:41Speaker 4: team who needs someone to go catch every day, and
- 23:43Speaker 4: like it would be a great opportunity for him. And
- 23:45Speaker 4: you know that's part of part of the game that stinks.
- 23:48Speaker 4: And you know it's confusing for fans sometimes because it's
- 23:51Speaker 4: you know, there's the releases, there's the DFAs, there's this
- 23:54Speaker 4: and that. They're all versions and this one's basically like, look,
- 23:57Speaker 4: we have this guy in a contract.
- 23:58Speaker 3: We just can't keep him for whatever the reason is.
- 24:01Speaker 4: So big league team can grab and plug him straight
- 24:03Speaker 4: in and you know, hopefully, like I said, hopefully he
- 24:05Speaker 4: gets an opportunity because he doesn't have options. Obviously, that's
- 24:09Speaker 4: probably why they had to let him go. They would
- 24:11Speaker 4: have loved to keep him. But you know, he'll he'll
- 24:13Speaker 4: do with another club.
- 24:15Speaker 2: A chance there's a chance he could sneak through. He's
- 24:17Speaker 2: making a little bit more money than a typical guy,
- 24:21Speaker 2: I mean, with a sliver more. But and and I
- 24:25Speaker 2: feel like the White Sox were in need for catching
- 24:27Speaker 2: they just acquired like there we'll see, Like it just
- 24:31Speaker 2: depends on how some of the contenders are feeling about
- 24:34Speaker 2: that second catcher spot that they have. It's possible that
- 24:38Speaker 2: he sneaks through. Well, we'll get some clarity on that
- 24:40Speaker 2: in the next couple of days.
- 24:43Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, Seattle had a tough deal. They kind
- 24:47Speaker 4: of got some musical chairs over there. Wouldn't be surprised
- 24:49Speaker 4: if they grabbed him, honestly, now that.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yankee solved theirs. The Yankees solved THEIRS by grabbing Mitch
- 24:55Speaker 2: Garver after Seattle release.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, so is he a rail rider right now? I didn't.
- 25:00Speaker 3: I'm not sure if you got something.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I think he is. I think he is. It wasn't
- 25:03Speaker 2: gonna be down there long. But the Bombers is strong there.
- 25:10Speaker 2: So ten Or Swanson connection.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Uh, yeah, he was one of his first proteges, like
- 25:16Speaker 4: those guard was like his guide, and so it is Jeffards.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that that'll be interesting to see what happens in
- 25:25Speaker 2: free agency there with ros Uh.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Speaking of the Yankees, I perhaps conveniently overlooked that after
- 25:33Speaker 1: the Ale Central stretch of the schedule and before that
- 25:35Speaker 1: advantageous ending I talked about, there's three games of the
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yankees at target Fields.
- 25:39Speaker 2: They are They're at Target Field and the Yankees are rolling.
- 25:46Speaker 2: The Death Star does come to tell them and maybe
- 25:48Speaker 2: Aaron Judge will be in for that.
- 25:50Speaker 3: But uh, they.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Do not have. Maybe it's the purifying waters of Lake
- 25:54Speaker 2: Minnetonka that take the Yankee power away. I don't know,
- 25:58Speaker 2: they're they're not quite as dominant here as good as
- 26:01Speaker 2: they are and they've always been. Obviously we know historically
- 26:05Speaker 2: how good they are. But the Twins at least usually
- 26:07Speaker 2: win one at home against the Yankees.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Maybe they can still see as long as d D
- 26:13Speaker 4: is not in the lineup, they should be okay.
- 26:16Speaker 2: True true.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Final thoughts from the Field of Dreams game quick look
- 26:20Speaker 1: at the weekend right after this.
- 26:23Speaker 5: This is that time of year. AJ it is Baseball's
- 26:26Speaker 5: time to shine, and it is Sea Geek's time to
- 26:29Speaker 5: shine with MLB tickets and finding the best pricing, seating

- 26:39Speaker 7: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest matchups
- 26:41Speaker 7: coming up. We have Yankees Cubs coming up. Where's Yankees
- 26:44Speaker 7: Red Sox? That means stuff. Again, there's some big moments
- 26:46Speaker 7: that are coming up here in the as the penachases
- 26:49Speaker 7: really heat up. Go to you can find those green

- 27:23Speaker 2: This all right?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Uh, the Field of Dreams game has come and gone.
- 27:31Speaker 1: My first my first thought watching the broadcast was do
- 27:35Speaker 1: do the players like walking out of the corn? I
- 27:38Speaker 1: feel like that would be just terrible for my allergies.
- 27:41Speaker 1: But I mean it is a once in a lifetime thing.
- 27:44Speaker 2: What do we think, Dan, they bought it, they loved
- 27:51Speaker 2: They ate that stuff up. I edited myself, Stances, Field
- 27:56Speaker 2: of Dreams, that's a PG. Maybe I edited myself absolutely.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I think what really sold it was the the Hall
- 28:05Speaker 2: of Famers. I think twenty six famers. Yeah, those most
- 28:10Speaker 2: That was most Hall of Famers in one place for
- 28:13Speaker 2: a game. Obviously they do Coopersown every year, and you know,
- 28:16Speaker 2: fifty sixty guys show up for that but most Hall
- 28:19Speaker 2: of Famers in attendance for a game since the two
- 28:21Speaker 2: thousand and eight All Star Game at Yankee Stadium. Guys
- 28:25Speaker 2: were going crazy about that because they got to meet
- 28:28Speaker 2: them all for like ten or fifteen minutes before the game.
- 28:31Speaker 2: That's why I say this is all one off. You're
- 28:33Speaker 2: walking through the corn, you know, there's so many different things,
- 28:37Speaker 2: like you're doing an on field introduction, like it was
- 28:39Speaker 2: like an Opening Day type event. Essentially. It had the
- 28:47Speaker 2: really slow national anthem, like the painfully long national anthem.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Basically you look at all of it, it just takes
- 28:56Speaker 2: its fish out of water essentially. But they loved everything
- 28:59Speaker 2: about I mean, guys were in awe and it's hard
- 29:02Speaker 2: not to be. Look, Barry Bonds is on the field
- 29:04Speaker 2: before the game, Albert Pools there was My favorite conversation
- 29:07Speaker 2: of the day was looking over and there's Barry Bonds,
- 29:09Speaker 2: there's Albert Poohles, and there's Tory Hunter, and it's like
- 29:12Speaker 2: Zebbie Matthews, Travis Adams, Louis Arise, Louis Ramirez twins assistant
- 29:18Speaker 2: pitching coach, Like could you imagine being Zebbie Matthews and
- 29:22Speaker 2: Travis Adams in this conversation with Poohles Bonds, Tory, Louis Rise,
- 29:29Speaker 2: Like Louis Rise is the rookie novice in that conversation
- 29:32Speaker 2: as a hitter, right man, he can hang in that
- 29:35Speaker 2: conversation with those guys even though he's still got some
- 29:38Speaker 2: years to go in his career. Three time batting champion.
- 29:41Speaker 3: It's hardware.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like it was a spectacle and and
- 29:46Speaker 2: guys very much ate it up. You could tell and look,
- 29:51Speaker 2: I will say a lot of guys probably watched the movie,
- 29:56Speaker 2: like some of the younger guys probably watch it for
- 29:57Speaker 2: the first time. In the couple days leading up. I
- 30:01Speaker 2: know that some guys refresh themselves on it. And like
- 30:05Speaker 2: the day before Ryan Jeffers made a great joke he said,
- 30:09Speaker 2: I bet you some of these guys, the younger guys
- 30:11Speaker 2: didn't even know that they were on a movie set.
- 30:13Speaker 2: But like, you arrive right, and so I think I
- 30:16Speaker 2: walked up at one forty five and first pitch was
- 30:19Speaker 2: at six point thirty. You walk up to the movie set.
- 30:21Speaker 2: That's the first thing you can actually access is the
- 30:23Speaker 2: movie set, the house, the original ballfield and the cornfields
- 30:29Speaker 2: and walk up and there's fans out there, but there
- 30:32Speaker 2: is walking around. There's Byron Buckston with his family. There's
- 30:36Speaker 2: Joe Mauer and his son. There's Justin Moore know and
- 30:39Speaker 2: his son, and fans are kind of interacting with them.
- 30:41Speaker 2: They're playing catch out there. There's all the nineteen nineteen
- 30:46Speaker 2: Chicago White Sox players, the Black Sox. Those guys are
- 30:51Speaker 2: in their uniforms wandering around and like it was so
- 30:54Speaker 2: surreal and like Pabula Lopez is out there taking pictures.
- 30:59Speaker 2: You know, the whole day is different. And then you
- 31:02Speaker 2: do the walking through the corn thing, and it's funny.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I actually didn't walk through the corn. I I did
- 31:08Speaker 2: not do that part, but we like you still like
- 31:11Speaker 2: it's hard not to get caught up in it. For
- 31:13Speaker 2: what is probably the sixth or you know, seventh or
- 31:18Speaker 2: eighth or ninth or tenth best baseball movie, it's it's
- 31:23Speaker 2: not good. It's I say look, I will say that
- 31:27Speaker 2: I still eat up. Look. The thing is, obviously they
- 31:30Speaker 2: went for a lot of emotional manipulation in that movie.
- 31:33Speaker 2: The dad have a catch and all these guys had
- 31:36Speaker 2: to catch with their dads. It was awesome.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yeah, post game with the Rocket.
- 31:43Speaker 2: You could tell Corey Provis was stoked because that was
- 31:46Speaker 2: the first time he took his kid. I think his
- 31:48Speaker 2: kid's eleven years old, and you know, Corey does all
- 31:50Speaker 2: the games on TV. It's the first time that Corey
- 31:53Speaker 2: took his kid to a game because there just hasn't
- 31:56Speaker 2: been opportunities. So imagine getting to go with your son,
- 32:00Speaker 2: like so father's son thing. For that reason, I get it.
- 32:03Speaker 2: It's it's awesome. But like the movie itself, like I
- 32:07Speaker 2: got Bull Durham major League you're just not a Costner guy. Yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 2: that's probably it.
- 32:17Speaker 1: We need. We need a major league rebuild Cleveland Municipal Stadium.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Get Charlie Sheen out there, let's go. That's that's what
- 32:27Speaker 1: we need to be talking about.
- 32:28Speaker 2: But yeah, but but I think guys very much bought
- 32:32Speaker 2: into it. Byron Buckson said that that looking over and
- 32:35Speaker 2: seeing Fergie Jenkins, who was his dad's favorite picture, and
- 32:39Speaker 2: he said he could remember his dad saying, hey, if
- 32:43Speaker 2: you're going to pitch, you do it like Fergie Jenkins,
- 32:45Speaker 2: and like that was ingrained into Byron's memories. And he
- 32:49Speaker 2: looks over and there's Fergie Jenkins, and Byron then even better,
- 32:53Speaker 2: Like the thing I really liked was the perspective He's like,
- 32:56Speaker 2: I looked over and there's Molly, Paul Malder, there's there's
- 33:01Speaker 2: Joe Mauer, and you know, He's like, we see these
- 33:04Speaker 2: guys around us all the time, and then you see
- 33:06Speaker 2: them out there. Yeah, yes, exactly, they are normal regular guys.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Paul Malterers like, honestly, Paul Martor is one of the
- 33:14Speaker 2: most thoughtful friendly. He's he's reserved. But you walk up
- 33:18Speaker 2: and you talk to him and he engages you, and
- 33:21Speaker 2: you're like, wait a minute, you have three thousand hits,
- 33:23Speaker 2: you're like one of the best players ever, and you're
- 33:25Speaker 2: like engaging in this thoughtful conversation with me. So you
- 33:28Speaker 2: get used to them, right if you're the Twins. But
- 33:31Speaker 2: Byron's like, but then you look out there and you
- 33:33Speaker 2: see they're standing next to Adrian Beltray, They're standing next
- 33:36Speaker 2: to you know, Steve Carlton, Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton. That
- 33:41Speaker 2: was one of his first public appearances in Forever, and
- 33:44Speaker 2: and you look around. You're like, Byron's like, you just
- 33:47Speaker 2: don't maybe you shouldn't take it for granted that these
- 33:49Speaker 2: guys are that amazing, and here they are. They're just
- 33:52Speaker 2: at the Twins all the time. It was very cool.
- 33:55Speaker 2: It was everybody. There was nobody that was walking away
- 33:58Speaker 2: from that. And here wait one last part. The dad thing.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Tommy Tommy Nance, his dad passed away last year from als. Yeah,
- 34:10Speaker 2: he and his dad. Yeah, like so fifteen months ago
- 34:14Speaker 2: he's written his name, his and his dad's initials in
- 34:17Speaker 2: the mound since he came back to the Majors last year.
- 34:20Speaker 2: He said, Field of Dreams was that movie for them
- 34:23Speaker 2: before every game? Hey dad? Yeah? Yes, for every appearance,
- 34:27Speaker 2: every every appearance. Yeah, he said, Field of Dreams was
- 34:30Speaker 2: their movie. He said, the hey dad, can I have
- 34:32Speaker 2: can we have a catch? Is very tough for him.
- 34:35Speaker 2: It gets him every time, which I understand that watched
- 34:38Speaker 2: it there night. Damn it, there was you know, dust
- 34:42Speaker 2: in the room again, every time that scene comes on,
- 34:44Speaker 2: there's a dust storm in my house. So weird. But
- 34:47Speaker 2: Tommy Nance gets in the game and got to draw
- 34:51Speaker 2: his dad's initials on the mound and had a nice inning. Said.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I asked him about it afterwards, He's like, it was
- 34:56Speaker 2: really cool to do that and be a part of
- 34:58Speaker 2: it because he couldn't be there, so I got to
- 35:00Speaker 2: at least share the experience that way with him. And
- 35:03Speaker 2: he said his dad's been with him since he's passed.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Anytime the situation gets big or tough, he will actually
- 35:11Speaker 2: have a conversation with him on the mound, like a
- 35:13Speaker 2: little conversation. He said, It's helped him out so much.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Love that part, you know, like all that stuff, the
- 35:19Speaker 2: nostalgia part is very real. And so is it contrived? Sure?
- 35:25Speaker 2: Is it? Is it a little corny? Sure? But you
- 35:28Speaker 2: know what this game is a it's all about family.
- 35:31Speaker 2: It's all about generations of family, and like so I
- 35:34Speaker 2: love it for that and it was enjoyable.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Well, I think like they do such a good job
- 35:39Speaker 1: of making it feel like an event on par with
- 35:42Speaker 1: All Star game or a big, you know, World Series game,
- 35:45Speaker 1: And like this, this team is in the playoff race
- 35:49Speaker 1: and has been playing in front of sparse crowds where
- 35:52Speaker 1: you know, the pregame festivities are you know, here's Chris
- 35:56Speaker 1: Lindall throughout the first pitch. Sure it's not quite the same,
- 36:00Speaker 1: this is my point. And like, I don't know, maybe
- 36:03Speaker 1: maybe that's a nice little experience for them Tyler going
- 36:06Speaker 1: into these last forty games, be like, hey, this is
- 36:08Speaker 1: what it's like when baseball matters, and you could get
- 36:10Speaker 1: playing in a lot more of these games if he
- 36:12Speaker 1: starts stringing together some wins.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Oh, it does.
- 36:15Speaker 4: And I've been sitting here this whole time just thinking about,
- 36:17Speaker 4: you know, the fact that the Hall of Famers were there,
- 36:20Speaker 4: Like that's something I don't think everyone fully grasped that
- 36:24Speaker 4: situation like that doesn't happen other than at the Hall
- 36:28Speaker 4: of Fame ceremony and that event. Like those guys aren't
- 36:31Speaker 4: all together for anything ever. Yeah, and so to have
- 36:34Speaker 4: that many of them in one spot like that is
- 36:36Speaker 4: a huge you know for all of those guys, that
- 36:39Speaker 4: that experience is incredible, you know, and to that point,
- 36:43Speaker 4: having those guys around, maybe maybe it opened some eyes
- 36:46Speaker 4: for these young guys, especially like realizing like, oh shit,
- 36:49Speaker 4: oh I did it. You know, these guys are in
- 36:52Speaker 4: our locker room once a week. You know, they're around
- 36:55Speaker 4: all the time. And it's just the the gravity of
- 36:57Speaker 4: it is incredible to see it on TV and not
- 37:01Speaker 4: not alone being there, but yeah, it's definitely gonna get
- 37:04Speaker 4: you know, did you get that juice?
- 37:06Speaker 6: Man?
- 37:06Speaker 4: It's when you go to a stadium, even that place
- 37:09Speaker 4: it is smaller, whatever, but just that hole, the electricity
- 37:12Speaker 4: of that moment is so real and playing against a
- 37:16Speaker 4: great team like Philly. Like that's a lot of those
- 37:18Speaker 4: guys probably first time playing against Bryce Harper, you know,
- 37:21Speaker 4: seeing Kyleigh Harber in the box, Like that's a team
- 37:24Speaker 4: who has World Series aspirations and you just got to
- 37:26Speaker 4: go out there and do something like that. Like that's
- 37:28Speaker 4: a big push for a lot of these younger guys
- 37:30Speaker 4: for sure, you know.
- 37:32Speaker 3: And it's one.
- 37:33Speaker 4: That like I keep talking about this momentum, like it's
- 37:36Speaker 4: you got to keep building, you added Byron back. You're
- 37:39Speaker 4: playing a good team now. You know that all the
- 37:41Speaker 4: cards are starting to kind of line up.
- 37:42Speaker 3: As long as we.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Can keep our guys on the field, you know, there's
- 37:46Speaker 4: no reason to we can't go win a few every
- 37:48Speaker 4: week and come up in September, I mean half a
- 37:51Speaker 4: game out of the card and you know who knows
- 37:54Speaker 4: you you tear up the White Sox a few times,
- 37:55Speaker 4: like you jump them completely, you.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Could mess around and win the division pretty quickly.
- 38:01Speaker 1: That starts tonight two more versus the Phillies at Target Field.
- 38:06Speaker 1: The bad news is Jesus Lozardo gets the ball for
- 38:08Speaker 1: the Phillies tonight. He is their old sister Christopher Yes
- 38:12Speaker 1: Andrew Painter on Sunday against Dean Kramer Lozardo Tonight against
- 38:16Speaker 1: Connor pre Lip. As Dan said, tough stretch Philly, Atlanta,
- 38:20Speaker 1: San Diego, all playoff worthy teams in the NL. But
- 38:25Speaker 1: as you kind of already talked about, Dan, if they
- 38:27Speaker 1: can find a way to just tread water in the series,
- 38:30Speaker 1: they're going to come out the other side of it
- 38:32Speaker 1: in all likelihood with still a chance here in the central.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yeah, get through this. Get to the point where Joe
- 38:38Speaker 2: Ryan's healthy. Joe Ryan went on IL eight days ago. Yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 2: eight days ago, something like that. Get him back healthy,
- 38:48Speaker 2: get your rotation going again. The part that's good is
- 38:53Speaker 2: they have shortened games where it's a five inning game
- 38:56Speaker 2: with the bullpen editions now, So if your offense can
- 39:00Speaker 2: get going again, and that's what was such a big
- 39:03Speaker 2: part of the first half of them was the offense,
- 39:06Speaker 2: and it's been mostly dormant. There have been moments where
- 39:11Speaker 2: it showed up. The Baltimore series was great. Just get
- 39:15Speaker 2: back to that spot where your offense keeps making it
- 39:18Speaker 2: a threat to be like, no games out of reach,
- 39:22Speaker 2: that kind of thing, even if you're down. But it
- 39:25Speaker 2: would be great for the Twins if they can get
- 39:27Speaker 2: through the first inning without giving up a run. As
- 39:30Speaker 2: you guys said, that's it's been so critical and.
- 39:33Speaker 3: It's just like the end of the day. Maybe take
- 39:39Speaker 3: the bullpen, sacrifice.
- 39:40Speaker 2: A live chicken. You know they were in Iowa. I'm
- 39:42Speaker 2: sure they could find a live chicken to bring back
- 39:44Speaker 2: on that plane to sacrifice, So maybe they could do that.
- 39:47Speaker 1: See, this is why we need a major league game
- 39:49Speaker 1: like the opportunities here. Just get Joe bu out there.
- 39:53Speaker 2: It'll be Oh, that would be awesome.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Guys would know who you're trying to say.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Jesus Christ can and hit a curveball.
- 40:01Speaker 2: All right, that's the best line movie. It's the baseball
- 40:04Speaker 2: movie ever.
- 40:07Speaker 1: All Right, I think that's our que. We will be
- 40:10Speaker 1: back with you on Monday after the Phillies series wraps.
