- 1:26Speaker 1: try called quest name again. I like that last one.
- 1:28Speaker 1: You rolled it off smooth. So you're gonna keep on
- 1:32Speaker 1: rolling and we are rolling it off smooth for this review.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Oh x Men ninety seven, Season two, episode nine nine,
- 1:41Speaker 1: Survival of the Fittest.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yes, you said it kind of flat? Ben, Is that
- 1:47Speaker 2: how you felt about the episode?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, straight up and down.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yoh all right.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Look, I remember early this season. I can't remember what
- 1:57Speaker 1: episode it was, but we got a comment on the YouTube.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I think I was. I think we even distressed this
- 2:01Speaker 1: comment on a later episode with wayno oh. Shout out
- 2:04Speaker 1: to Wayne O. Shout out. Shout out to Drake for
- 2:07Speaker 1: that matter. Bien loved the drizzy champagne poppy for the love,
- 2:12Speaker 1: Thank you very much, family, you know what I mean.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And really shout out to my brother Wayne. I know
- 2:16Speaker 1: you having a real rough week. Love you, bro. All
- 2:18Speaker 1: of love and strength to you, you know, blessings. But yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 1: we were distressing this when somebody said on a comment
- 2:24Speaker 1: they said rip to h Men ninety seven, and this
- 2:27Speaker 1: was like episode four or something. Damn. Yeah, they didn't
- 2:30Speaker 1: like that episode and they're like, this show is dead,
- 2:33Speaker 1: it's over episode forur.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Y'all didn't like it. Y'alln't even wait to the woof
- 2:36Speaker 5: Maine episode to say I didn't like it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I can't remember which one it was, but they were like, unlive,
- 2:40Speaker 1: that's man ninety seven, it's a rap. So I we funning,
- 2:43Speaker 1: like really, you know, okay, I guess you know what
- 2:47Speaker 1: intro episode It wasn't that one, didn't know because the
- 2:50Speaker 1: first four people really loved because those were still had
- 2:53Speaker 1: the Bode Mayo co writing credit on that.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 1: After that is when we you know.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Get was the one we ain't really mess with weapon
- 3:01Speaker 2: x lies and DVDs. That was the side mission with them.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that might have been the one, but you know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I was like, come on, man, you bug and the
- 3:08Speaker 1: show is still fine.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah, like first of all this and Wayna also said
- 3:12Speaker 2: that this is the most popular top animated series right
- 3:16Speaker 2: now when I talk about anime but animation, this is
- 3:19Speaker 2: this is still it is that girl, So let's not play.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And from one of the top shows, I saw a
- 3:25Speaker 1: statistic where it said like it jumped into the top
- 3:28Speaker 1: thirty shows when it returned, and that rarely happens. You know,
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's it's not just animated, it's just a top show.
- 3:33Speaker 2: It's a show absolutely, So what the problem? What's the
- 3:37Speaker 2: problem I like about with you? What was wrong with
- 3:41Speaker 2: this this is finale episode? Did it not hit as
- 3:43Speaker 2: a finale for you?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Just overall? Nah, it really didn't. There was like the
- 3:50Speaker 1: drama that I was looking for wasn't there. I think
- 3:53Speaker 1: it was. There was more spectacle that just did not
- 3:57Speaker 1: matter to me. You know, there were fights between characters
- 4:00Speaker 1: who have no relations or anything while avoiding you know,
- 4:04Speaker 1: confrontations with characters who they have relations, So just left
- 4:07Speaker 1: it dry to me, Like, I cannot believe that. Through
- 4:11Speaker 1: however many seasons of the show, the Cyclops and have
- 4:15Speaker 1: it still don't have any knowledge that they're brothers.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Damn.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I mean, Havoc is literally rolling around with his nephew
- 4:22Speaker 1: and he doesn't ever discuss it.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Which version of X Men is this?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Is it supposed to be pre or after you know,
- 4:30Speaker 2: the whole Phoenix saga.
- 4:31Speaker 1: This is after the Phoenix saga. This is after everything?
- 4:34Speaker 2: No way, Yeah, because Cable and everybody else is there,
- 4:36Speaker 2: so y'all should know way more. To your point, they
- 4:38Speaker 2: should know way more about each other and different people
- 4:41Speaker 2: than they wore.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Ninety two, it was established that Jane Gray does know
- 4:47Speaker 1: that Havoc and Cyclops are brothers. Why she has not
- 4:51Speaker 1: talked about this with Cyclops, I don't know. And some
- 4:54Speaker 1: other character does know, but Cyclops and have It do
- 4:56Speaker 1: not know. Oh their father knows, but Cyclops and have
- 4:59Speaker 1: It do not know. But it's just like, you had
- 5:02Speaker 1: a chance in this episode. I was like, Okay, this episode,
- 5:04Speaker 1: we're having to bust into the building. They're gonna have
- 5:06Speaker 1: some type of conversation and if they'll come out, and
- 5:09Speaker 1: then you know, that'll be some great drama and some
- 5:11Speaker 1: great storytelling and stuff that I really love and know
- 5:13Speaker 1: it didn't we and staid we had have it versus Jubilee,
- 5:15Speaker 1: And it's just like, all right, who cares?
- 5:17Speaker 2: I didn't, And you know what, I gotta kind of
- 5:20Speaker 2: echo you on that echo rather you on that. The
- 5:24Speaker 2: episode felt like there were some moments where it was heartfelt,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and there were some moments where it felt super manufactured,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and there were some things into it that I did
- 5:35Speaker 2: want to ask you, as you know, as an avid
- 5:37Speaker 2: comic book reader, and it's okay that things that are
- 5:40Speaker 2: happening and show that didn't happen in books. But the
- 5:43Speaker 2: whole celestial thing with Rogue and all that stuff, did
- 5:46Speaker 2: that happen that you.
- 5:49Speaker 1: That I know of. No, I look, I immediately with
- 5:51Speaker 1: to redd it. Afterwards, I saw a top comment where
- 5:54Speaker 1: said what the rogue turned into?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Well, first of all, she just she gained celestial goddess. Clear,
- 6:00Speaker 2: she's gained powers through a through a through seed, through
- 6:05Speaker 2: a deathy Okay, regards what got it?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Everyone else who touches Look, I'm not the you know, Okay,
- 6:14Speaker 1: there I have gaps in my ed Men knowledge. Okay,
- 6:17Speaker 1: what I do know is that everyone that I know
- 6:20Speaker 1: of as a character who's ever touched the deaf seed
- 6:22Speaker 1: becomes death life. You know, like I know Gambit has,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I think Wolverine has, and I know Archangel has.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But they explained it away because Essen telest your Essen.
- 6:36Speaker 2: He was just like, well, here's your last test proved.
- 6:38Speaker 2: This is what you get to prove that you would
- 6:40Speaker 2: sacrifice everything that was that was that was that no
- 6:47Speaker 2: E s O and that's who that's if you look
- 6:48Speaker 2: if you turn on the caption, they mentioned, Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 1: But guess these dudes look alike.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I want to let I mean people, he had hit
- 7:00Speaker 3: multiple circle circle eyes.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Reddish, he had multiple circle eyes. I thought that man
- 7:08Speaker 1: was arish from the judge.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You know, they explained it away in the dialogue, and
- 7:14Speaker 2: I just figured it was just him, you know, like
- 7:17Speaker 2: nerving it a little bit. He nerve Todty a little bit,
- 7:19Speaker 2: was like, all right, just take this and prove to
- 7:21Speaker 2: me that you'll do what you say you're gonna do.
- 7:23Speaker 5: And she did it and that was cool.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Like I said, I don't care that it's a different
- 7:26Speaker 2: story that it never really happened. It's just how it
- 7:29Speaker 2: went about it right, like they did the whole you know,
- 7:31Speaker 2: love story between her and Remy. And for something that's
- 7:34Speaker 2: so powerful that actually felt it's funny, it felt more
- 7:37Speaker 2: powerful when Remy went to make her a goddess versus
- 7:40Speaker 2: when she became a goddess to go save him.
- 7:42Speaker 5: I don't know so, but she was already heard.
- 7:46Speaker 4: What I was trying to understand was like she was
- 7:49Speaker 4: already because like last week, last episode, she got that
- 7:55Speaker 4: whatever the essence that from the extrade, yes it has
- 8:00Speaker 4: it in her body. She showed up into the shrine
- 8:07Speaker 4: that and said that is smatched it off with her
- 8:10Speaker 4: neck like Nunu.
- 8:11Speaker 5: And that was the end of that, like she didn't
- 8:13Speaker 5: have it no more.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And then he then he reimbued her with celestial power,
- 8:17Speaker 2: So I don't know, it was just like again, it
- 8:20Speaker 2: felt super manufactured, and I understand that's what a story is.
- 8:22Speaker 2: A story is manufactured, is created, but it was I
- 8:27Speaker 2: don't know, the authenticity. Maybe maybe there was a bit
- 8:29Speaker 2: of authenticity and heart that made me not.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Fully connect with what was going on. I don't know.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I feel like they were also trying to make it
- 8:38Speaker 4: close to like what people who may not be typical
- 8:41Speaker 4: X Men watchers might be able to pick up on,
- 8:44Speaker 4: because whenever they do the celestial chamber opening, it's like
- 8:48Speaker 4: it's the it's a populus's head. It very much gave
- 8:50Speaker 4: me a ladden the animated movie where it's the time
- 8:54Speaker 4: and it's like Diamond in the rough but he's like
- 8:56Speaker 4: talking from the stands and then he just opened stuff,
- 8:59Speaker 4: and I'm like, maybe like they're trying to integrate with
- 9:01Speaker 4: like this is the disnification of X Men, where they're
- 9:04Speaker 4: like they're like trying to help people, like help the viewer,
- 9:08Speaker 4: and I will have I have a whole dietry for
- 9:11Speaker 4: how I feel the same way about what's going on
- 9:13Speaker 4: with the House a Dragon, where I feel like what
- 9:15Speaker 4: the writers are doing is they're not trusting the viewer
- 9:18Speaker 4: to actually pick up on like clues or actually have.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Like formed thoughts.
- 9:23Speaker 4: They just kind of spoon feed the stuff, as Rod
- 9:26Speaker 4: was saying on this week's episode, So I just think that,
- 9:28Speaker 4: like it's just it gives me that the writing they're
- 9:31Speaker 4: trying to kind of like one, it's the franchisification of
- 9:34Speaker 4: the Disney of it all, where they're kind of just like, hey,
- 9:37Speaker 4: you may not be familiar with the X Men universe.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Let's make you feel comfortable. Here's the diamond in a
- 9:42Speaker 4: rough scene. And then it's also kind of like, oh,
- 9:45Speaker 4: let's give some writing that like the lay viewer may
- 9:49Speaker 4: not quite get, but like it'll help them feel closer
- 9:53Speaker 4: to rogue or something.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Like they're like, that's the manufactured feeling too.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It possibly Porsha my guy today because you called it
- 10:00Speaker 2: the Cave of fucking Wonders and she came out a genie.
- 10:03Speaker 5: You are fucking right.
- 10:05Speaker 1: She comes out of Disney Princess. Her emblem on her
- 10:09Speaker 1: for Moon was kind of corny.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Yeah, the sparkle parts, it was almost kind of given
- 10:14Speaker 4: like sailor moon transformation.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Like yes, very sailor moons like sparkle.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Sparkle was weird.
- 10:19Speaker 5: It was my body. My mind was like, this is off.
- 10:23Speaker 5: I just wasn't. I wasn't feeling it.
- 10:25Speaker 1: And like the endler on her forehead is looked like
- 10:27Speaker 1: a w so gave Wonder Woman for a second. It
- 10:30Speaker 1: was just, you know, it felt more like the seventies
- 10:33Speaker 1: Wonder Woman than you know, then the current one.
- 10:36Speaker 5: It just it was the cave of wonders.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I'm so wonder Yeah, it felt like I mean, you know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: Sailor Moon and Wonder Woman, both of them, they both
- 10:43Speaker 1: spun around and then boom they got their suit on.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:46Speaker 4: So I'm gonna say Sailor Moon's transformation scenes set the
- 10:50Speaker 4: bar for all transformation machines scenes that came afterwards, because
- 10:53Speaker 4: no one's quite done it as monumentally, I Sailormon, who's
- 10:56Speaker 4: done it?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Like what about the vultron form of that? You know
- 11:00Speaker 1: that that's up there?
- 11:01Speaker 2: Though it is it is also but that's multiple people
- 11:04Speaker 2: coming together in individual transformations. But all that to say,
- 11:08Speaker 2: like it something felt a little not like y'all niggas
- 11:12Speaker 2: ain't real like like today. And again I understand that's
- 11:18Speaker 2: the whole point of story storytelling, like you make up shit.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I get it, But there's a point where it feels like,
- 11:24Speaker 2: oh man, that's a cool story, and it's like, oh,
- 11:26Speaker 2: you're really trying really hard, and at times it felt
- 11:30Speaker 2: try hard. That said, there were some really good things
- 11:33Speaker 2: that happened this episode too, so it that combined maybe
- 11:37Speaker 2: is what why. Similarly, I felt similar to you Ben,
- 11:40Speaker 2: where I was just like it was a finale and
- 11:42Speaker 2: you know, but it wasn't like, oh my god, did
- 11:45Speaker 2: you see what happened in xpen ninetyes so that you
- 11:47Speaker 2: see how the episode ended, or you see how the
- 11:49Speaker 2: season ended, Like it's like the very end, the very end.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Messed me up.
- 11:53Speaker 1: So oh okay, well, all right, I felt bad. Let's
- 11:56Speaker 1: talk about the good things. I guess I did think
- 12:00Speaker 1: all the sacrifice was Yes, well written for n Cal
- 12:03Speaker 1: as a character, It's stayed true to who he is,
- 12:07Speaker 1: the Kurt Wadner. Everything about it was really beautiful. Absolutely,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I have faithline is you know that's while.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Holding the Bible, While holding the Bible, that's fully him. Yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 5: That's why I believed in that.
- 12:21Speaker 2: And that's why I said I felt so bad at
- 12:23Speaker 2: the end when he did that, when when beasts came
- 12:26Speaker 2: out holding what he was holding the Bible, he was
- 12:28Speaker 2: holding what was quote left of him. So yeah, I
- 12:31Speaker 2: just I was just like god, like that felt real,
- 12:34Speaker 2: That felt deeply intrinsic to the captor. You made a
- 12:37Speaker 2: point been in the last episode, maybe the episode before,
- 12:40Speaker 2: where you were like, why has there not been more
- 12:42Speaker 2: conversation or diving into the relationship between Morph and beasts
- 12:47Speaker 2: not be excuse me, morph and Wolverine, right, Like, it
- 12:50Speaker 2: keeps like they it's clearly there's there's tension and other stuff,
- 12:53Speaker 2: and we make jokes about it, but like, why is
- 12:55Speaker 2: there not more conversation about that?
- 12:57Speaker 5: And every time they do get.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Close, we get closer to the characters, right, we get
- 13:01Speaker 2: more in depth to it because those are natural relationships,
- 13:05Speaker 2: These natural relationships that form when we have the story
- 13:08Speaker 2: and the conversation about them, we actually connect way more.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So That's why this is one of the reasons why
- 13:13Speaker 2: we felt so strongly about the Nightcrawl scene, why we
- 13:15Speaker 2: felt so strongly about the relationship between him and Rogue,
- 13:18Speaker 2: because that was one through line that they were very
- 13:21Speaker 2: consistent on throughout this excuse me, throughout the season.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Everything else kind of didn't really make sense in the moment.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and with Nightcrawler, especially like we distressed this Like
- 13:31Speaker 1: this season was the first time we start to seeing
- 13:33Speaker 1: where the priest coller. You know, he's had a lot
- 13:36Speaker 1: more discussions about faith. You know, he's been through so
- 13:39Speaker 1: much with Janosha and all these other things that he's
- 13:42Speaker 1: going through. So it was just you know, it's hard,
- 13:46Speaker 1: it hurts. It was a very strong character ar for him,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and yeah, you know it hit and it felt right.
- 13:53Speaker 5: It felt right.
- 13:54Speaker 2: And this is an episode after he gave everybody fifty
- 13:57Speaker 2: two pieces, right, yeah, Like this came right after so
- 14:00Speaker 2: just life from you know, destroying everybody to like you know,
- 14:04Speaker 2: now I got a sacrifice to essentially save everybody again, right,
- 14:07Speaker 2: Like he's he's always kind of been that, you know,
- 14:10Speaker 2: self sacrificing figure. He's always come off like that, like
- 14:13Speaker 2: he will put everybody else and everything else above and
- 14:16Speaker 2: ahead of him before himself, you know self. Just everything
- 14:20Speaker 2: about him was just you know, he he serves everybody else,
- 14:23Speaker 2: like like you said, like a priest like a this
- 14:25Speaker 2: like a that.
- 14:25Speaker 5: So it hit and it connected made sense to me
- 14:29Speaker 5: and really mattered.
- 14:30Speaker 2: So for it to end like that, I was like,
- 14:32Speaker 2: all right, that's a high note technically, but what else
- 14:36Speaker 2: did we.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Like but for me, I just want to say that, like,
- 14:41Speaker 3: I think it was very.
- 14:43Speaker 4: And I think the setup for him to make that sacrifice,
- 14:47Speaker 4: like he we saw an episode where Creed goes to trial.
- 14:51Speaker 4: He pushes for Creed to have a trial, like he's
- 14:53Speaker 4: willing to sacrifice his own like standing or whatever to
- 14:58Speaker 4: for his sibling Creed. He feels the same way for
- 15:02Speaker 4: Rogue Rogue being willing to make that sacrifice for Remy.
- 15:06Speaker 4: But also she's not only making a sacrifice for Remy,
- 15:09Speaker 4: She's making it for mute kind.
- 15:10Speaker 5: As well everybody.
- 15:11Speaker 4: So I love that night Crowler looks at it as
- 15:14Speaker 4: like he's going and his sister's footsteps, like he's like
- 15:18Speaker 4: he's honoring her choice by making his own choice. Like
- 15:22Speaker 4: he's like, I look like I appreciate that she was
- 15:25Speaker 4: willing to do that. I'm going to actually do follow
- 15:28Speaker 4: her example and do it in her stead. And I
- 15:33Speaker 4: think that we they put those little points before we
- 15:36Speaker 4: got this episode for us to know, like what it
- 15:38Speaker 4: would for us to understand why night Crawler would do
- 15:41Speaker 4: it and have a level of like peace with his
- 15:43Speaker 4: choice and not be confused by it or like like
- 15:47Speaker 4: up in arms, like but why would but night Crowler
- 15:49Speaker 4: just gave these two pieces. We should we try write
- 15:52Speaker 4: more like, no, he's he made the choice and he
- 15:55Speaker 4: respected he respected rogue choice, and we should respect his choice.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Like that's kind of the cyclical like kind of things
- 16:02Speaker 4: like sacrifice here.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it was genuine and you know, like you mentioning
- 16:09Speaker 2: the fact that that's that sibling love right, and you know,
- 16:13Speaker 2: both our mothers didn't care about us. My mother threw
- 16:15Speaker 2: me down the waterfall, like you know, I love that
- 16:18Speaker 2: they brought that scene back, by the.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Way, but you know, uh, thank you. What were there
- 16:24Speaker 5: any other like really good things about this?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Okay, no before before we move off that of fortunately
- 16:32Speaker 1: didn't maybe you know, see something about the season that
- 16:36Speaker 1: I guess this and there, well this was also leading
- 16:39Speaker 1: into something that I that I felt was lacking, but
- 16:42Speaker 1: I guess the season is since it has been about
- 16:45Speaker 1: Rogue and Gambit and reuniting them, it also made sense
- 16:49Speaker 1: to have so much focus on Nightcrawler and Graden, you know,
- 16:53Speaker 1: to have the whole family aspect of it, and to
- 16:57Speaker 1: tie up the end of the season with grad and
- 16:59Speaker 1: winning the president and see and you know all that
- 17:02Speaker 1: entails and the fact that Nightcrawler is now dead and
- 17:06Speaker 1: mystique is, you know, doing what she doing, which we'll
- 17:09Speaker 1: get into some more, but you know she's gonna have
- 17:11Speaker 1: a reaction to night Crawler being dead obviously, so well
- 17:15Speaker 1: hopefully that see that's in there, and there's where I'll
- 17:19Speaker 1: get into like where I feel like because portion you
- 17:21Speaker 1: didn't make me like, Okay, maybe the scene was a
- 17:23Speaker 1: little better than I thought. But then it's like there's
- 17:25Speaker 1: the other part of it where it's like missed opportunities,
- 17:27Speaker 1: and I felt like there was a missed opportunity. We
- 17:29Speaker 1: talked about this before with the whole everybody loves Road
- 17:32Speaker 1: thing that Apocalypse was looking for love. It's like Apocalypse
- 17:37Speaker 1: wasn't destroyed by the things that he cared most about?
- 17:42Speaker 1: Was he like he was destroyed by Rogue? Well that's
- 17:49Speaker 1: what he said. He sees that. He tells the Xavier,
- 17:52Speaker 1: You're going to be destroyed by the thing that you're
- 17:54Speaker 1: most cared about. And it brought that back in the
- 17:56Speaker 1: beginning of the episode, and there was this whole idea
- 17:59Speaker 1: that Rogue that Aocalypse and you know, uh, Candra, Canandra,
- 18:04Speaker 1: what did be external they had the relationship that him
- 18:09Speaker 1: and Rogue had this you know, maybe he saw the
- 18:13Speaker 1: external in Rogue.
- 18:15Speaker 2: They never really touched on that, even if that was
- 18:17Speaker 2: the back comic box backstory, they never said that in
- 18:20Speaker 2: the show.
- 18:21Speaker 5: So I didn't even know that they had a relationship
- 18:24Speaker 5: or that she.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Besides him Ago Rogan Apocalypse have their really not relationship,
- 18:30Speaker 1: but they have the distression about love and everything in
- 18:33Speaker 1: the first one. And so we distrussed how Apocalypse felt
- 18:36Speaker 1: kind of petty by going to Gambit when Rogue is like,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you know, I'm just looking to get back to the man.
- 18:41Speaker 1: He's like, word, all right, I'm gonna get a Gambit's body. So,
- 18:44Speaker 1: you know, the pettiness there was nice.
- 18:46Speaker 3: But can I just say, yeah.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I thought the petty was abandoned.
- 18:50Speaker 4: But Apocalypse in Gambits by when he finally like is
- 18:54Speaker 4: taking over Gambit's form, that's the best Apocalypse ever looked
- 18:57Speaker 4: in his life. Like he looks like a weirdo on
- 19:02Speaker 4: a regular basis.
- 19:03Speaker 1: He looked like a weirdo.
- 19:06Speaker 3: That was the most like drip he's ever had in
- 19:08Speaker 3: his life.
- 19:09Speaker 4: He's never been able to pull anything off as well
- 19:12Speaker 4: as he did with Gamba. And so I'm like, maybe
- 19:14Speaker 4: Rogue was simp for this, Like you know, it did
- 19:16Speaker 4: seem really petty, but maybe he also just wants to
- 19:20Speaker 4: be the fly. Maybe he just just like I just
- 19:22Speaker 4: need a little I don't got style on my own.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I just need to like transform into someone who does.
- 19:27Speaker 4: And he got that little cool casun accent.
- 19:29Speaker 3: A win is a win. I'm gonna do it.
- 19:31Speaker 1: He didn't like the Young Apocalypse with the top knot.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I thought he was pretty fled in damn well like
- 19:36Speaker 1: pre yeah yeah, yeah, pre Through Yeah yeah, Egyptian Apocalypse.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Well, you know, sorry, that was all I had. I
- 19:43Speaker 1: was trying to you know, it's okay. As always, the
- 19:46Speaker 1: animation was stellar. You know, it's always the animation with stellar,
- 19:48Speaker 1: even like in pointless fights like h Havoc and Jubilee
- 19:53Speaker 1: and Polaris Bishop versus what was left of X Factor.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I thought that was cool. I like seeing multi man
- 20:00Speaker 1: and all that type of things. I always love all
- 20:02Speaker 1: these random characters getting a little bit of shine, even
- 20:04Speaker 1: when they're just in fight scene so you get to
- 20:06Speaker 1: see their powers.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I have a question when it came to the Jubilee.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Have a kind of is that a thing like in
- 20:14Speaker 4: the comics, do they have it back and forth where
- 20:16Speaker 4: they're kind of like contentious but flirty where they're kind
- 20:18Speaker 4: of like it's a thing.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I didn't feel like it was flirty.
- 20:21Speaker 5: It was a bit flirty. It was a little sir
- 20:24Speaker 5: in the moment.
- 20:25Speaker 2: It was yeah, flirty years it was to me, regardless
- 20:31Speaker 2: of whether it was there and the stories or not,
- 20:34Speaker 2: it was misplaced.
- 20:36Speaker 5: It was just like all the serious shit.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Going on and y'all having a fucking dog fight in
- 20:40Speaker 2: the sky with each other, and really it's like y'all
- 20:43Speaker 2: playing with the plane.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Here we go again with the fucking planes.
- 20:46Speaker 2: And and and everything almost crashing, and it's the same bullshit.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Like it was just like, what was the point because
- 20:51Speaker 2: it was like a good two minutes maybe three of
- 20:54Speaker 2: like to me, wasted space because I didn't need to
- 20:56Speaker 2: see that, Like we could have used that for something else.
- 20:59Speaker 2: And that's what I'm me when I'm just like, there's
- 21:00Speaker 2: certain things that were just randomly manufactured, like for what
- 21:03Speaker 2: Maybe there is a backstory we don't know about that.
- 21:06Speaker 2: It made sense that they had that dialogue, but I'm like,
- 21:10Speaker 2: it wasn't even an effective fight.
- 21:12Speaker 5: It was just like.
- 21:13Speaker 4: They hopped out the powers mid flight, like they did
- 21:16Speaker 4: use their powers to get did nineties action dialogue for
- 21:21Speaker 4: you know, back and forth for a few minutes.
- 21:23Speaker 5: Then you know they they you know, barely used the powers.
- 21:26Speaker 5: They did use the powers, to barely use them.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And then it was just like okay, my, my, my
- 21:31Speaker 2: firework is gonna make you have to abandon your plane.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Whoop bee. And that was the end of that.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Like I was like, what was the point of the scene,
- 21:39Speaker 2: Like it was just to say, oh, Roes, you mean
- 21:43Speaker 2: Jubilee is in this fight, Let's make sure we have
- 21:45Speaker 2: a scene for her. Like it felt like a footnote
- 21:49Speaker 2: that someone in the writers room were like, oh shit,
- 21:51Speaker 2: Jubilee is also in this fight. Let's give her something
- 21:53Speaker 2: to do versus like she's like intrinsically part of the
- 21:56Speaker 2: fight because them too, They was fighting with each other
- 21:59Speaker 2: quote fighting with each other off on the side. All
- 22:02Speaker 2: the action was happening on the left. They was on
- 22:03Speaker 2: the right doing their thing. And I'm like, okay, they.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yes, Havoc is definitely the leader. Like I said, he's
- 22:13Speaker 1: psychlos brother. I've never known of any of that relationship
- 22:18Speaker 1: type stuff. Havoc was definitely the leader of X Factor
- 22:20Speaker 1: forever in a day. I know that Jubilee does join
- 22:24Speaker 1: X Force later on, and that time I wasn't reaching
- 22:26Speaker 1: and they.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Showed her joining in this season.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And that outfit she wears is her X Force outfit.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I know that, but I wasn't reading it during that time.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I've never known her to be a part of X Factor,
- 22:35Speaker 1: and I've never known the two to have any sort
- 22:37Speaker 1: of relationship like have it definitely had a relationship with
- 22:40Speaker 1: Paulari's Lorna Dane and then later on he and to
- 22:45Speaker 1: this day has a long standing, weird one with Madelon Pryor,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you know, his brother's ex wife.
- 22:51Speaker 2: I'm just like, if that fight never happened, what changes
- 22:54Speaker 2: in the ultimate battle with apopulyp scammed it?
- 22:56Speaker 5: Nothing?
- 22:57Speaker 2: They were never even there written into the episode would
- 23:00Speaker 2: have affected nothing, and.
- 23:01Speaker 1: That could have done.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Understand what was the point? Like you you showed me?
- 23:05Speaker 2: I literally said another So ago, y'all showed me how
- 23:08Speaker 2: dope Jubilee is and how much difference she is from
- 23:11Speaker 2: the ninety two version that I remember, just to put
- 23:13Speaker 2: her in another inconsequential situation, And I'm like, so what
- 23:16Speaker 2: was the point, Like why bother? And again you could
- 23:21Speaker 2: have used that time for something more important. Maybe I
- 23:24Speaker 2: don't know, I mean it was right. I said, we
- 23:26Speaker 2: saw a whole fight. What who who are helping each other?
- 23:29Speaker 2: What do we say more for Wolverine.
- 23:31Speaker 1: It was right there. I have it could have gone
- 23:34Speaker 1: in and met Cyclops and table all and Gene, all
- 23:39Speaker 1: of them were in the same room.
- 23:40Speaker 5: But you would have that would have been a speed run.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Then it doesn't It doesn't need it doesn't need to
- 23:48Speaker 1: be a long moment. This this is the start of
- 23:51Speaker 1: later stuff. Just to reveal that your brothers is you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: That's all I needed to seed planning. Just have that
- 23:59Speaker 1: moment been like, Yo, you two are brothers. Y'all need
- 24:01Speaker 1: to chill. You know. Gene could have been revealed it,
- 24:04Speaker 1: but like, yo, stop Cable, he's hotel pathic as well.
- 24:08Speaker 1: He could have revealed it.
- 24:09Speaker 5: Uncle stop my dad Uncle damn.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I mean here, it's just the prioritizing the family reunion
- 24:20Speaker 4: between Scott and and Jean and like Cable.
- 24:24Speaker 5: But I'm like, we stay reunited times.
- 24:27Speaker 4: I'm saying I was about to say that, I'm like,
- 24:29Speaker 4: I feel like we've seen that every episode. This isn't
- 24:32Speaker 4: I'm like, why do we gotta keep reienterating the fact
- 24:35Speaker 4: like this is their son that they feel is connected
- 24:37Speaker 4: from like once we see the episode where they show
- 24:39Speaker 4: us like him younger getting an information about what's gonna
- 24:42Speaker 4: happen later, and then all the timelines connects and they
- 24:46Speaker 4: finally recognize what happened.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Like that's all we needed.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I didn't need any more than that, Like just okay,
- 24:50Speaker 4: like now they're gonna they're gonna be weird about trying
- 24:54Speaker 4: to be a family. What does that even look like?
- 24:56Speaker 4: But like okay, fine, I don't need to spend a
- 24:58Speaker 4: lot of time with them being like people know no, son,
- 25:01Speaker 4: don't do it, Like I don't need to see that
- 25:04Speaker 4: every episode and like literally that she was Apocalypse last episode,
- 25:08Speaker 4: only end up shooting apocalypsegame bit Apocalypse this episode, and
- 25:12Speaker 4: he's like what for? And then Ge whenever Roge comes in,
- 25:17Speaker 4: she's the one who saws everything. And then like Professor
- 25:22Speaker 4: X just sits there like oh yeah, like I I
- 25:26Speaker 4: felt her coming for so I was kind of I
- 25:28Speaker 4: felt kind of desperate, but then I felt Rogue coming in,
- 25:30Speaker 4: and so I was gonna sit here.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And look, he doesn't even say that or anything. It's like.
- 25:36Speaker 4: He looks, he looks back before she actually appeers in frames.
- 25:40Speaker 1: So that's like how would he know that, how would
- 25:42Speaker 1: he know that Rogue is going to somehow save everything
- 25:45Speaker 1: and not.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Even he didn't know, And whenever he came out of
- 25:48Speaker 4: the chamber, when he came out of the chamber, he
- 25:50Speaker 4: was a straw the mind when he looked, he looks
- 25:52Speaker 4: backwards for a second before a Rogue appears in frame
- 25:55Speaker 4: and he's like.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Remember when He's like, because they always do, because the
- 25:58Speaker 2: X Men is always going to be here, because she's
- 26:00Speaker 2: flying around the corner like Miss Marvel and she's gonna
- 26:03Speaker 2: save the day again. Manufactured. It's just weird. It doesn't
- 26:08Speaker 2: it's not it didn't feel genuine. It's just like, oh,
- 26:13Speaker 2: we could have we could have did it better. Maybe
- 26:15Speaker 2: that's the maybe that's my problem.
- 26:16Speaker 5: We could have did it better. I don't I don't
- 26:18Speaker 5: fucking know.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Maybe we should do it how it should have went
- 26:20Speaker 4: episode where we just like write out what we think
- 26:23Speaker 4: should have happened in this episode and then it just
- 26:25Speaker 4: like gets animated for us to show people this is
- 26:28Speaker 4: how it should have done.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Howeah ah yeah, because I'm yeah, I'm just even like
- 26:40Speaker 1: the even the fact that Damn Bade and Rogue are
- 26:43Speaker 1: now back together is also kind of anti climactic, the
- 26:47Speaker 1: whole there's this whole still, the thing of Magneto being
- 26:52Speaker 1: dead still just you know, hovering over everything, and are.
- 26:55Speaker 5: We mad that what we wanted didn't happen.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know that better. The thing is, I
- 27:00Speaker 1: don't I don't mind Magnito being dead, you know, it's
- 27:03Speaker 1: just I think it's also the ending felt very rushed,
- 27:07Speaker 1: like after Apocalypse is done, we basically get two seconds
- 27:11Speaker 1: of you know, I have faith and then a quick
- 27:14Speaker 1: clip like, okay, is Rogues power fixed?
- 27:17Speaker 5: You know?
- 27:17Speaker 1: That's the question because she kiss the damn it. Yeah no, but.
- 27:22Speaker 5: I think it was after she kissed him, when she
- 27:24Speaker 5: still was imbued.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Right, She's standing away, she has her finger gloves and
- 27:30Speaker 4: her fingers, her fingers are touching his face, and she's
- 27:33Speaker 4: back to normal.
- 27:34Speaker 3: But then the next shot it's a full glove.
- 27:36Speaker 2: So I'm like, yes, well, I think that could have
- 27:38Speaker 2: just been an animation error, because from my understanding, once
- 27:41Speaker 2: she wants to selection powers left it.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Why I say she was back to normal, I mean
- 27:44Speaker 5: back to herself, meaning regularly she can't she can't touch.
- 27:48Speaker 1: That's what I mean. That's what I thought. Okay, so fine,
- 27:52Speaker 1: a minute.
- 27:52Speaker 4: It seemed like she's still could like even when she
- 27:55Speaker 4: was powered down for again, if if it was an animation,
- 27:57Speaker 4: are fine, But she was powered down and her fingers
- 27:59Speaker 4: were touching his face.
- 28:00Speaker 5: Yeah, but it was why she was with the sale
- 28:02Speaker 5: of moon Glow.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Who knows it felt like a reset thing, Like it
- 28:06Speaker 1: felt like they're resetting the zero so they can tell
- 28:09Speaker 1: stories without bowl the miles influence.
- 28:11Speaker 4: I'm gonna be annoyed if we I think you're right.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Then them returned right back to Oh I can't she
- 28:17Speaker 4: can't touch me, I can't touch her by.
- 28:19Speaker 5: So that's where But that's where we're at.
- 28:22Speaker 2: That's something annoying, like unless they show otherwise, like they
- 28:27Speaker 2: made it a point to put her gloves back on,
- 28:30Speaker 2: like yes, she's back, like she got no more Pokemon power.
- 28:33Speaker 2: She back to where she was, Like, I don't think
- 28:37Speaker 2: you're right. They were setting because like and also because
- 28:40Speaker 2: I don't know if when they wrote this they knew
- 28:42Speaker 2: they were getting a third and four season, so maybe
- 28:44Speaker 2: they just wanted to wrap it up and get them
- 28:46Speaker 2: back to the way they was just in case someone
- 28:47Speaker 2: want to use them again, like putting your toys back
- 28:49Speaker 2: in the boxes, like oh, let's clean up and put
- 28:51Speaker 2: them back away. You know, forget the Fantastic Adventure. I
- 28:54Speaker 2: put them on, let me clean them up.
- 28:56Speaker 1: But this was rewritten during which the time, I feel
- 28:59Speaker 1: like they knew they were again in the third season.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Rather it was announcer. Yet I think they would have
- 29:05Speaker 1: to know because yeah, because it's like they've got a
- 29:09Speaker 1: new showrunner. The show was a friggin hit beyond belief.
- 29:13Speaker 1: It's not like a wonder Man situation where it was
- 29:16Speaker 1: a you know, it was a nice hit and it
- 29:18Speaker 1: got some great critical of playing. More so than it
- 29:20Speaker 1: being a hit. X N in ninety seven is a
- 29:22Speaker 1: massive hit where it's like, you cannot cancel this right now.
- 29:26Speaker 1: The dude said no, He said, like over a year ago,
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'm wanted to do ten seasons of this. I wanted
- 29:30Speaker 1: to come out every year.
- 29:32Speaker 5: But what did you want to happen then? Like she
- 29:34Speaker 5: wasn't gonna keep a celestial powers?
- 29:35Speaker 1: No, I want her to grow as a character. And
- 29:38Speaker 1: the comments at this point Roade can touch whoever her
- 29:40Speaker 1: and Camber her married this is true. You know, it's
- 29:43Speaker 1: like they've grown as characters and they've moved on. I
- 29:45Speaker 1: don't know how she got over it. I'm not sure
- 29:47Speaker 1: what the solution was, but she did, you know, and
- 29:51Speaker 1: there's good you can write, Oh, the celestial power left
- 29:54Speaker 1: me with the ability that you know, now I can
- 29:55Speaker 1: finally touch your question powers?
- 29:59Speaker 3: Why can't she get why can't should be goddess?
- 30:01Speaker 4: Like?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Because then but it becomes like, you know what, what
- 30:05Speaker 1: how do you write her anymore? You know, she can
- 30:07Speaker 1: do anything she wants, like, you know, but she just like.
- 30:10Speaker 4: If she's she has got his powers, but she's because
- 30:13Speaker 4: like so does Storm, Like Storm is.
- 30:16Speaker 1: A goddess yess levels to it, though celestial.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Storm started out a goddess and you know, I guess
- 30:22Speaker 2: worlgue is they're building her up to be one.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's also Storm as a weather goddess. Storm.
- 30:27Speaker 1: You know, celestials are on a you know, a higher
- 30:30Speaker 1: plane of existence type thing.
- 30:31Speaker 4: But if they limited her to like she can only
- 30:34Speaker 4: use basically her original skill set, she just turned it
- 30:36Speaker 4: on and off as she wants.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all I need. That's all I'm asking, Like
- 30:39Speaker 1: why not, Like I said, why is that not left? Like?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Why is it just you know, ill can touch you?
- 30:45Speaker 1: That's all I needed? Like that would have made that
- 30:47Speaker 1: scene so much.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Yeah, all yeah, even like even if the night Crawler
- 30:53Speaker 4: scene where he's like talking about the seeds or what
- 30:55Speaker 4: they show Rogue and Gambit together, if you just saw
- 30:58Speaker 4: her touching him without a glove, that had been enough
- 31:00Speaker 4: of a little easter egg for me. I don't need
- 31:02Speaker 4: to hear explanation for it right now. It's the inity
- 31:06Speaker 4: or whatever. Just show me the possibility that it's they
- 31:08Speaker 4: can do that, and I'm gonna be like, yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 1: That would even be great, right, Dowt, even that you're right,
- 31:12Speaker 1: because I was going to say, what about a Nightcrawler said,
- 31:16Speaker 1: you know, to the Celestia, and you know, I'm making
- 31:17Speaker 1: this sacrifice, let my friends finally be really reunited, you know,
- 31:22Speaker 1: and then but if you he.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Would know, like, that's two wishes, not one, nigga, this
- 31:26Speaker 2: is the Caper wonder, but one at a time.
- 31:31Speaker 1: But if they don't show that you're right, then portion
- 31:33Speaker 1: that would have been even iller if the last shot
- 31:36Speaker 1: was like her just slightly touching them, because there's just
- 31:39Speaker 1: one shot in the comic books that I was rereading
- 31:41Speaker 1: it where at one point that happens Road touches someone,
- 31:46Speaker 1: and it was never.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Really plain like you see her face or something like,
- 31:50Speaker 5: oh my god, you see you.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Know, you know, you see it. Rode's not even noticing
- 31:53Speaker 1: she puts her hand on the back of somebody's shoulder
- 31:55Speaker 1: and her fingers touched it. And it's more just it
- 31:58Speaker 1: was never touched up on and like I said, so
- 32:00Speaker 1: years later that she gained control over powers, But that
- 32:03Speaker 1: little thing for people reading the comic at that time
- 32:05Speaker 1: was like, oh shit, you know, okay.
- 32:07Speaker 5: So it was a frame where they show that, yeah, that.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Same type of thing. You could have just have her
- 32:12Speaker 1: hand lean on road on remy shoulder and then show
- 32:15Speaker 1: the fingers touched her shoulder and then cut and then
- 32:18Speaker 1: we'd all be sitting here like, oh.
- 32:20Speaker 2: My god, you know yeah, so no, so let's feel powers.
- 32:25Speaker 1: No, no, no touching.
- 32:27Speaker 3: She doesn't know that right now unless there's like a
- 32:29Speaker 3: revealed later on like.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Something, yeah, that's you can write that any way you want.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Then you know you can write you know, however you
- 32:36Speaker 1: want that season. That's I mean, it's not like it
- 32:38Speaker 1: felt like a reset where it's like, Okay, whatever you
- 32:41Speaker 1: feel like doing that season, we can do. But it
- 32:42Speaker 1: doesn't give you like I want to watch it that
- 32:45Speaker 1: season because yeah, because I'm teased for something. I feel
- 32:49Speaker 1: like this is a continuing story. This does not feel
- 32:52Speaker 1: like a continuing story. This feels like this could have
- 32:55Speaker 1: been the end of It's been ninety seven if they wanted.
- 32:57Speaker 1: But it also feels like a way for Okay, we
- 32:59Speaker 1: reset that pretty much to the team that we want.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Manito's dead professor is the you know, back of the school.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I guess the schools rebuilt. He had schools rebuilt. We're
- 33:10Speaker 1: back in the school now. We tell stories about Mystique
- 33:14Speaker 1: in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants like I'm sorry, like
- 33:19Speaker 1: the brother even send. The whole concept is like early nineties. Okay,
- 33:23Speaker 1: this gets into the ending, right, And this has also
- 33:26Speaker 1: been a long rumor, Like people thought that Mystique had
- 33:29Speaker 1: replaced Val a long time ago, right, Yeah, and that's
- 33:33Speaker 1: not the case, it seems so yeah, and Val has
- 33:37Speaker 1: always been up to this. Val was responsible for Janosha
- 33:41Speaker 1: pretty much and yet had mutants down with her. Let's
- 33:44Speaker 1: we got it. That's my that's my.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Most restarting in this episode because it's the way that
- 33:50Speaker 4: so let's deal.
- 33:52Speaker 3: So let's just sentinels.
- 33:53Speaker 4: We're just like raining from the sky and all these
- 33:57Speaker 4: other mutants on X Factor just like coming down with
- 33:59Speaker 4: the and I'm like, you and your mutant heart have
- 34:03Speaker 4: it within you to be with the same people who
- 34:06Speaker 4: create sentinels and then have multiple of them around you
- 34:10Speaker 4: at all times you know they are right, go to
- 34:13Speaker 4: battle other mutants.
- 34:14Speaker 3: You're breaking ice to your same people.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Yes, this is and you say that life you see
- 34:23Speaker 4: life port it's called Maga supporters, and it's just But
- 34:27Speaker 4: like I remember, I was like watching something like a
- 34:30Speaker 4: some TikTok clip where someone was talking about how like
- 34:34Speaker 4: the mutants who are conventionally like so humanoid or whatever,
- 34:37Speaker 4: they don't have like the whole issue that like maybe
- 34:40Speaker 4: the Beast or like some other muntants have, like the
- 34:43Speaker 4: pearents and being accepted among a greater human kind. How
- 34:46Speaker 4: they're more likely to be the ones that are like, well,
- 34:49Speaker 4: I don't understand what your problem is.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I get to be a mutant all day long, and.
- 34:52Speaker 4: It's like, I mean, sure, is it annoying that I
- 34:57Speaker 4: have to like power.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Down sometimes around humans?
- 35:00Speaker 4: Sure, but like I would never sign anything or try
- 35:03Speaker 4: to get rid of my powers. I'm proud of being
- 35:05Speaker 4: a mutant and they're like, of course you are. You
- 35:07Speaker 4: don't have weird vomiting powers. You don't look like something
- 35:11Speaker 4: that everyone runs away from. Of course you're fine. Of
- 35:14Speaker 4: course I want to sign something or get my powers
- 35:16Speaker 4: taken away from me.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Like that makes sense to me.
- 35:18Speaker 4: So when I was looking at the X Factor team today,
- 35:20Speaker 4: I was like, all right, how many how much of
- 35:23Speaker 4: this team would qualify in the like realm of like
- 35:26Speaker 4: self hate in a way like like directly of like
- 35:29Speaker 4: their appearance like of like how they present as mu
- 35:31Speaker 4: ins And is that why they're more willing to like
- 35:34Speaker 4: be with a sentinel crowd because they're like, yeah, get
- 35:37Speaker 4: rid of that side of me, because I hate that
- 35:38Speaker 4: part of me too.
- 35:39Speaker 5: Like, but but there's there's a there's a flash Wolverine
- 35:42Speaker 5: looking one.
- 35:43Speaker 1: That one, and I could explain both of these portsche
- 35:48Speaker 1: for out of the common book. Strong Guy is the
- 35:50Speaker 1: big giant dude Guido them. He gains his powers as
- 35:55Speaker 1: a child, and his power is to absorb kinetic energy
- 35:58Speaker 1: and then he can punch it back out. But when
- 36:00Speaker 1: he was a kid, he didn't notice, so he gains
- 36:02Speaker 1: too much of it and that's why he's a giant
- 36:04Speaker 1: deformed dude like that.
- 36:06Speaker 3: He didn't know to get rid of it.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Yes, that's why he's a hunchback of Notre Dan.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yes, so that's why he could be definitely self hater.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Rain Wolf Spain, the werewolf looking one is characterized. It
- 36:17Speaker 1: actually really fits because she is a pure She's a
- 36:21Speaker 1: Catholic young girl who has never been able to deal
- 36:24Speaker 1: with the fact that she turns into a werewolf like that.
- 36:27Speaker 1: She has always hated her mutantabilities and really hated the
- 36:32Speaker 1: animalistic side that it brought out of her, you know,
- 36:35Speaker 1: because she's a repressed Catholic girl, and so she feels
- 36:38Speaker 1: sexual urges as a werewolf and all that type of stuff.
- 36:40Speaker 1: So yeah, it actually really fits that they would joins
- 36:43Speaker 1: factor and be honest.
- 36:46Speaker 4: And this has been the history of X Men in general,
- 36:49Speaker 4: Like all of this it was written right, Like when
- 36:51Speaker 4: we say that in a biblical sense, it was written.
- 36:53Speaker 5: It really was.
- 36:54Speaker 2: They've they've told this story before over and over again,
- 36:57Speaker 2: and it vibes completely with real life too. People who
- 37:01Speaker 2: they would rather you know, through hate self hate. They
- 37:04Speaker 2: would rather you know, solidify their own you know, against
- 37:07Speaker 2: their own self interests rather than you know, one either share,
- 37:11Speaker 2: either allow other people to have rights, like it's ridiculous
- 37:15Speaker 2: and everything you're saying is absolutely true poorshit. But we've
- 37:17Speaker 2: seen that and we are seeing that. We continue to
- 37:19Speaker 2: see that both real life and in the story.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I think Havoc is the type of person who says,
- 37:25Speaker 1: I don't like politics in my art, but see that. Yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 1: straight up and down. Yeah, he's definitely that guy who
- 37:33Speaker 1: was like, oh, you know, I don't know, I remember
- 37:35Speaker 1: a time when people didn't you know, talk about their
- 37:37Speaker 1: politics and we didn't have to worry about that. That's
- 37:39Speaker 1: definitely having so but to wrap up and the end
- 37:44Speaker 1: credit scene, so and to go back once again, I
- 37:47Speaker 1: get it. You can be down with ice, but the
- 37:49Speaker 1: fact that you're down with the woman who massacred millions
- 37:53Speaker 1: of mutants is wild work. There's you know, there's a difference.
- 37:57Speaker 5: It's mad levels. What's the difference between what you see in.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Your face like like like you know, it's not like okay,
- 38:03Speaker 1: like you know, we have concentration, caps et cetera going
- 38:06Speaker 1: on in America right now, but we do We have
- 38:08Speaker 1: yet to see, you know, someone turn around and be
- 38:11Speaker 1: like fifteen million people in a day, you know gone,
- 38:16Speaker 1: and now you know, roll with me. That's what you're
- 38:20Speaker 1: asking right there, and that I'm sorry, like having might
- 38:25Speaker 1: not like politicians movies. But that's just a little.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Far actually it's a little bit.
- 38:32Speaker 1: But that's like my question.
- 38:33Speaker 4: So here's my questions, Like I have multiple plaver with
- 38:37Speaker 4: like pristique and like the vowel of it all. Okay,
- 38:39Speaker 4: one I don't I'm not verston and enough and mystique
- 38:44Speaker 4: lord to know like what her energy is for. Sometimes
- 38:48Speaker 4: that I've heard of what's going on with her, it
- 38:50Speaker 4: seems like she's kind of just like she's got her
- 38:53Speaker 4: own vibe. She's a mercenary sometimes was paying her biggest check.
- 38:57Speaker 4: That's where she's going. Or she has like she'll just
- 39:00Speaker 4: like be rogue. She's like whatever she feels like it. Yes,
- 39:03Speaker 4: that's she's going to be doing.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yes. And then there's the mystique of her CoA era
- 39:08Speaker 1: who pretty much is all about destiny. Destiny is her
- 39:13Speaker 1: lover who can see the future. And that's like mystiques
- 39:18Speaker 1: that's also a been a long run to think about.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Mystique don't give a shit about nothing as long as
- 39:22Speaker 1: destiny is there.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Yes, that's my question is like does she ever because
- 39:27Speaker 4: of the mercenary thing, because of her like she does
- 39:30Speaker 4: she really ever truly work alone, like her going to
- 39:34Speaker 4: take out Boo like is that she is Cree being
- 39:38Speaker 4: president part of the plan. And her taking out Bow
- 39:42Speaker 4: and becoming Bao is that that's not because she just
- 39:44Speaker 4: feels like doing it. It's part of a bigger plan
- 39:47Speaker 4: outside of just her.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I will say often at least the way that
- 39:51Speaker 2: this she's portrayed, often mystique.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Is a means to an end and and lots of
- 39:56Speaker 5: time to her detriment.
- 39:57Speaker 2: And then when she finds out, you know, she pieces
- 39:59Speaker 2: that out, but she's it's often she's part of a
- 40:03Speaker 2: greater conspiracy or something like that. I mean, they also read,
- 40:07Speaker 2: excuse me, also write her powers in that way that
- 40:09Speaker 2: she's you know, she's a conspirator, right like the fact
- 40:12Speaker 2: that she could be anyone at any moment, not unlike
- 40:15Speaker 2: morph right like, it's just they they they've put that
- 40:18Speaker 2: on her a lot, and that characterization has followed her
- 40:21Speaker 2: through many stories, not every single last story, but many stories.
- 40:24Speaker 5: So is she by herself? Is she not?
- 40:28Speaker 2: Is she with somebody? It just depends on the moment.
- 40:29Speaker 2: It depends on what they want to do. But at
- 40:32Speaker 2: least from what I my understanding of her stories is
- 40:34Speaker 2: rarely that it's just her doing it just for herself,
- 40:37Speaker 2: you know, unless she's throwing niggas off the waterfalls, like
- 40:39Speaker 2: it's just.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Really part of something else. Yeah, so yeah, I don't know. No,
- 40:48Speaker 5: normally it's it's part of a greater you know, the
- 40:50Speaker 5: greater plan.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Like I said. In the comics, you remember, she's in
- 40:54Speaker 1: love with the woman who can see the future, and
- 40:55Speaker 1: they've been together for a very long time. And so
- 40:59Speaker 1: because of that, miss people do whatever Destiny says. If
- 41:02Speaker 1: Destiny sees something, I'm in Mystique is going to follow
- 41:04Speaker 1: it and do whatever it needs to make that future happen,
- 41:08Speaker 1: especially if it involves keeping Destiny alive. And then the
- 41:11Speaker 1: other side of it is this is straight from the comics.
- 41:14Speaker 1: In the comics, at one point in the nineties, Mystique
- 41:17Speaker 1: impersonates val Cooper, and I don't think Valor is dead
- 41:20Speaker 1: in this scene. That's one thing. I know. We're here
- 41:22Speaker 1: the second shot. But in the comics, Mystique meets Val
- 41:26Speaker 1: after impersonating with her, and it's like, look, I have
- 41:29Speaker 1: this team called the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. I know
- 41:31Speaker 1: you were out here hunting mutants down. We're not down
- 41:34Speaker 1: with that. We will get down with y'all and rebrand
- 41:37Speaker 1: ourselves as Freedom for Us and become basically what the
- 41:41Speaker 1: Ed's factor was in this season. Now, whether or not
- 41:44Speaker 1: they're going that route, I don't know. I think that
- 41:47Speaker 1: they did show a clip from that season that had
- 41:49Speaker 1: Mystique and the Brotherhood, and I think when they did
- 41:52Speaker 1: they introduced them as the Brotherhood of Evil mutants. So
- 41:55Speaker 1: maybe she did kill her, and maybe she's infiltrating, you know,
- 41:59Speaker 1: the government and then using the Brotherhood as Mystique on
- 42:02Speaker 1: some you know, double agent type stuff. I did read
- 42:06Speaker 1: this on Reddit afterwards that they said that that whole
- 42:08Speaker 1: Mystique wants to attack the United States is actually a
- 42:11Speaker 1: line that was used. Uh, it was heard about ben Laden.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Ben Laden wants to attack the United States with a
- 42:17Speaker 1: line that was heard of him before nine to eleven,
- 42:20Speaker 1: So you know there made it be a little bit
- 42:23Speaker 1: of reference right there, and you know things like that.
- 42:25Speaker 1: So I don't know which way they're going. Like I said,
- 42:28Speaker 1: it could be the Brotherhood served with Mystique as freedom force,
- 42:31Speaker 1: or it could be she's being a terrorist and the
- 42:34Speaker 1: Brotherhood of Evil munes And like I said, I'm still
- 42:38Speaker 1: hoping for some Kirk Cola action down the line, and
- 42:42Speaker 1: Mystique had a big part of that. The only reason
- 42:44Speaker 1: she ever got like they needed her to help form
- 42:47Speaker 1: ker coolea But the only reason she did it was
- 42:49Speaker 1: because they told her they would raise her destiny and
- 42:51Speaker 1: they were lying to her about it because they couldn't
- 42:53Speaker 1: have somebody see the future for reasons. So we'll see
- 42:57Speaker 1: where it goes. Man, I I don't like I said,
- 43:00Speaker 1: It's just it felt more like a reset to the
- 43:03Speaker 1: old show, because the original show opens with the X
- 43:08Speaker 1: Men running against the Brotherhood of people mutants you know,
- 43:10Speaker 1: pretty much like Avalanche and Pyro and a bunch of
- 43:13Speaker 1: the other mutants are the ones who are always running at them.
- 43:16Speaker 1: So it's like it feels like kind of a reset
- 43:19Speaker 1: to that. And the whole Genosha thing with everybody dying
- 43:23Speaker 1: and like certain people being dead felt like waste. Like
- 43:25Speaker 1: I'm sorry, yeah, like Magic Colossus and Sister being actually
- 43:29Speaker 1: dead just feels like a waste, you know.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:33Speaker 2: I will say that there's a consistency in how silical
- 43:38Speaker 2: this season has been, much to the tone that you're
- 43:43Speaker 2: saying about everything being a reset, Like it's like the
- 43:46Speaker 2: same stuff is happening over and over again.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Much like how they you know, how they display how
- 43:50Speaker 5: time works, you.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Know, like how many times people go back to try
- 43:53Speaker 2: to change the future, and you got to do it
- 43:54Speaker 2: over and over again. They the consistency and how mutants
- 43:59Speaker 2: versus you. That is the one through line that will
- 44:02Speaker 2: never be killed and continues, It continues really strongly again
- 44:06Speaker 2: when and then also who should be saved?
- 44:08Speaker 5: Who should not be saved?
- 44:09Speaker 1: Again?
- 44:09Speaker 2: You had that whole thing with with Kurt trying to
- 44:12Speaker 2: save his brother or trying to save his brother from
- 44:15Speaker 2: being you know, judged wrongly or whatever, just for the
- 44:18Speaker 2: Nigga to shoot him in the back. Then you have
- 44:20Speaker 2: it again. It keeps happening this episode. The Cethnos come down.
- 44:24Speaker 2: There are humans inside the Sentinels pilotating it. What does
- 44:27Speaker 2: they They make it a point to have Storm say, oh,
- 44:29Speaker 2: we gotta be delicate because there are people inside of
- 44:32Speaker 2: it there. Right, if it was Magnito and somebody else
- 44:35Speaker 2: who they wouldn't give a fuck about being delicate. They
- 44:37Speaker 2: was just like remove the threat, right, and it's kind
- 44:40Speaker 2: of like we're back at square one.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Everything keeps happening over and over again.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Y'all got rid of y'all got.
- 44:44Speaker 5: Rid of the biggest threat, which was apocalypse.
- 44:46Speaker 2: He was supposed to be the big bad this season,
- 44:48Speaker 2: just to go back to the same bullshit you've been doing,
- 44:51Speaker 2: which is the humans were not every human, but a
- 44:54Speaker 2: certain humans trying to kill you and and you know,
- 44:57Speaker 2: suppress you, and then you trying to save some huge
- 45:00Speaker 2: or really you're trying to save everybody.
- 45:01Speaker 5: You're trying to be above. It's just.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Maybe I feel like maybe Ito when I'm just like
- 45:06Speaker 2: everybody gotta go, like like I just I don't want
- 45:10Speaker 2: to have these And that's the frustration within the story
- 45:14Speaker 2: of Newton's versus human right, like the ones who feel like,
- 45:17Speaker 2: why are we being delicate with these people?
- 45:19Speaker 5: They want us gone? We need to do and you know,
- 45:22Speaker 5: the whole.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Brotherhood mentality, like we need to get rid of them,
- 45:25Speaker 2: we need to do this, we need to do that.
- 45:26Speaker 2: And then the professor exside, which is just like, well,
- 45:30Speaker 2: we have to have peace and we have to find
- 45:32Speaker 2: common ground, like and it becomes like again, this is
- 45:36Speaker 2: just the one thing that no matter what, that story
- 45:38Speaker 2: never dies and I don't.
- 45:39Speaker 5: Think it ever will.
- 45:40Speaker 2: But they have their reset to get back to there
- 45:42Speaker 2: because there is no apocalypse to lean on now, at
- 45:46Speaker 2: least this version of it there isn't.
- 45:49Speaker 4: I think it's very telling that they continue to do
- 45:53Speaker 4: cycle back and forth between humans and mutants, mutans and
- 45:56Speaker 4: humans when and like because like us Ben was saying
- 45:59Speaker 4: earlier this season, the whole like everyone against the machine,
- 46:02Speaker 4: like humans mutants against the machine, we don't get a
- 46:05Speaker 4: lot of time with that, really Nope, And what they
- 46:09Speaker 4: keep focusing on instead is making another mutant the big
- 46:12Speaker 4: bad only gets nerve them or whatever, like they did
- 46:15Speaker 4: with Apocalypse Like he's out right. So this is a
- 46:19Speaker 4: discussion that I know is happening generally across like MCU Disforce,
- 46:23Speaker 4: like all the people.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Commentating on the influence of like.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Executives and decision making when it comes to storytelling and
- 46:34Speaker 4: how likely we are to actually get those deeper, more
- 46:37Speaker 4: interesting questions that really do have us question are more
- 46:41Speaker 4: like where like there is the things that kept coming
- 46:44Speaker 4: up in this season, but I feel like in this
- 46:48Speaker 4: episode specifically as themes that.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Were kind of like the antithesis of each other.
- 46:52Speaker 4: So survival and fitness, who's fit to survive, who's who's surviving?
- 46:57Speaker 4: That impossible if something is impossible, but also sacrifice if
- 47:01Speaker 4: you can sacrifice, you might be able to get the impossible, Like,
- 47:04Speaker 4: let's see what happens. Also, weakness and virtue is virtue weakness?
- 47:09Speaker 4: Are you being weak whenever you decide to align with being.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Virtuous or not virtuous? Like which one is it? And
- 47:15Speaker 3: so these like.
- 47:16Speaker 4: We do get these little tinklings of like lits as
- 47:21Speaker 4: creatives have a discussion and discourse with the greater audience
- 47:26Speaker 4: about things, but they don't really go there because of
- 47:30Speaker 4: the it seems like the influence.
- 47:32Speaker 3: It's like, well, let's just make the mutant the problem.
- 47:34Speaker 4: Let's not talk about the extent to which mischies are
- 47:37Speaker 4: actually the problem for all the humans and for all
- 47:40Speaker 4: the munits. Let's not talk about why the humans actually,
- 47:43Speaker 4: Like why don't we see more time with the humans
- 47:45Speaker 4: actually like getting their shit together and like having something
- 47:48Speaker 4: happen with them and not be mutan and related?
- 47:51Speaker 3: Like what are we? Like? What's going on?
- 47:53Speaker 4: And I just it stinks of a level of control
- 47:59Speaker 4: that creatives don't really have much over.
- 48:03Speaker 1: And even more so, it stinks of a level of
- 48:05Speaker 1: influence and a level of you know, the fact that
- 48:09Speaker 1: we have a maga related environment around entertainment right now,
- 48:14Speaker 1: because it stinks of Oh, there are still some good
- 48:18Speaker 1: guys out there amongst the people who want to kill you,
- 48:21Speaker 1: so you gotta save them all. And it's like, fuck's Sam.
- 48:25Speaker 1: You know, a motherfucker gets in the met suit and
- 48:27Speaker 1: tries to kill me, I'm blowing them out of the sky.
- 48:30Speaker 1: You know, the end of story. There is nothing coming
- 48:33Speaker 1: back from that. You exterminated sixteen million motherfuckers in the day.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Fam All, that y'all got to go after. Like like
- 48:41Speaker 1: I said, we talked about you know, the dudes did,
- 48:43Speaker 1: the mutes didn't down with ice, But imagine a human
- 48:45Speaker 1: being like I'm gonna get down with his crew who
- 48:47Speaker 1: just killed sixteen million people in a day, Like I'm
- 48:50Speaker 1: gonna now, I'm gonna, I'm gonna great to me.
- 48:53Speaker 3: I want to I want to be part of that
- 48:55Speaker 3: movement like Geniside.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Walk out of here, you die too, fam All, y'all
- 49:00Speaker 1: got to go. And it's it's that bullshit. And also
- 49:02Speaker 1: because I just reread, like I said, I read through
- 49:05Speaker 1: a lot of Claire Mark Run the majority of it.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I just finished it the other day, so I was like,
- 49:09Speaker 1: let me go back to the Kokoa shit because I
- 49:10Speaker 1: love it so much, and it's in the opening part
- 49:13Speaker 1: when the Machine says this line. He says, humans are
- 49:17Speaker 1: the gods who created us, then you mutants must be
- 49:20Speaker 1: the Titans, and then weird, you know, the machines are
- 49:25Speaker 1: the actual mute, I mean, the actual humanity looking up
- 49:28Speaker 1: at YouTube fighting and we're gonna kill you all with
- 49:32Speaker 1: the fire that we stole from you that Prometheus Dave was.
- 49:35Speaker 1: They will now destroy you all. And that's what the
- 49:39Speaker 1: Machine says to the Sentinel says to Wolverine right before
- 49:42Speaker 1: Wolverine plunges it into the sun. It's a you know,
- 49:44Speaker 1: very dope. Yeah, fucking incredible moment. Y'all. Go read House
- 49:48Speaker 1: of Vet's Powers. Eve's one of the best things ever.
- 49:50Speaker 1: But yeah, it's like you could have gone there, you know,
- 49:53Speaker 1: you could talk about this, and we are facing this
- 49:56Speaker 1: in our reality. We are facing machine destruction, and yet
- 50:00Speaker 1: we're ignoring it, you know, on this show and just
- 50:03Speaker 1: we're going back to the same bullshit of you know,
- 50:06Speaker 1: there's good on both sides. Fuck out here, man. This
- 50:09Speaker 1: this episode in the show really just I hate it
- 50:14Speaker 1: because that hate was already coming. Don't worry, we were
- 50:17Speaker 1: gonna get to that because I was already on that
- 50:19Speaker 1: when I was like, you know, but you just really
- 50:21Speaker 1: pointed out and it really yeah, that whole weakness and
- 50:24Speaker 1: meet like it's so much bullshit, Like and I'm sorry
- 50:27Speaker 1: because it does get to a lot of biblical ship
- 50:30Speaker 1: because you know, I'm a fan of the Bible, but
- 50:32Speaker 1: there's also the Bible has been used as control region. Yeah,
- 50:38Speaker 1: every religion and that whole you know, if you sacrifice,
- 50:41Speaker 1: you'll get your reward in heaven. Bullshit. I'm not yeah,
- 50:46Speaker 1: you know, I'm not here for none of that. Yeah,
- 50:49Speaker 1: this is the messaging and and it's like it I
- 50:52Speaker 1: hate to say it, but it feels like because Bodema
- 50:55Speaker 1: was fired, because it feels like, you know, Bodema as
- 50:58Speaker 1: whatever his issues were, definitely has had much more leftist,
- 51:02Speaker 1: much more revolutionary mindset, and whoever they replace him with
- 51:07Speaker 1: doesn't because this is what we need. We're not white.
- 51:12Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be a person. It doesn't matter
- 51:14Speaker 1: if the.
- 51:16Speaker 5: Mile You said, what was the difference?
- 51:19Speaker 1: I said, Yeah, and also somebody of color like bo
- 51:24Speaker 1: who was you know, had some ideas because there's a
- 51:27Speaker 1: lot of negroes out here, like I said, who think
- 51:29Speaker 1: that they art? Yeah, it's very annoying because it's like
- 51:34Speaker 1: it's going back to the basic bullshit and you know, no,
- 51:38Speaker 1: there are not good on both sides. A person who
- 51:40Speaker 1: is down with gendercide I said it today on Threads.
- 51:43Speaker 1: A centrist in the face of fascism is a fascion fascist.
- 51:47Speaker 1: In the fucking story, Yep, there is a person who says,
- 51:51Speaker 1: I don't want like politics in my art is a
- 51:54Speaker 1: weak motherfucker, you know what I mean? Straight up to that,
- 51:59Speaker 1: and in the motherfucker because politics have always been in art,
- 52:03Speaker 1: they're just dominated by white men's politics.
- 52:06Speaker 4: M I feel like the key theme that I'm picking
- 52:10Speaker 4: up from this part of the discussion Genner is specifically
- 52:13Speaker 4: that like X Men has always been the vehicle for
- 52:17Speaker 4: leftist expression.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Yes and always shaw and.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Everyone is feeling the like the kickback, the recoil of
- 52:27Speaker 4: not actually the vehicle being used in that way, and
- 52:31Speaker 4: I feel like something again, this is online discourse about
- 52:34Speaker 4: like how people were feeling about the upcoming X Men movie,
- 52:38Speaker 4: and everything is to come from the MCU around the
- 52:41Speaker 4: X Men because it's like, why would I have faith
- 52:44Speaker 4: that y'all going to do it when everything we've gotten
- 52:46Speaker 4: has been like this milk toast. But like military complex
- 52:52Speaker 4: all through even Spider Man.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I said it on breads. I mean, you know,
- 52:58Speaker 1: for such a wildly entertaining movie, it is a straight
- 53:00Speaker 1: up police surveillance, state propaganda.
- 53:03Speaker 2: I mean, we got to be real guys, Like we're
- 53:05Speaker 2: not going to get revolution from a multinational corporation.
- 53:08Speaker 5: They're just not. It's it's just not congruent with what
- 53:14Speaker 5: the entity is. And that's and and I think that
- 53:17Speaker 5: that that leads to, as you mentioned, the frustration because
- 53:21Speaker 5: there's so much more that can be done. It's so
- 53:23Speaker 5: much more powerful, which is why, like the existence of
- 53:26Speaker 5: the characters is important because you know, you do have
- 53:30Speaker 5: people who will do more with them, right they become
- 53:33Speaker 5: they start becoming more symbolic for different reasons, and you know,
- 53:36Speaker 5: as mentioned, you may make stories with these characters that
- 53:39Speaker 5: are more true to what they could represent. Unfortunately, the
- 53:44Speaker 5: official representation of them goes but so far, so it's
- 53:48Speaker 5: just like what do you do with that?
- 53:50Speaker 4: And I want to say too that like the represent
- 53:52Speaker 4: like all of we're talking about all this not because
- 53:54Speaker 4: we're saying the art has.
- 53:56Speaker 3: To be the movement of the people.
- 53:58Speaker 4: We're saying that art has the power moving people to
- 54:01Speaker 4: do things. To stand up to do the things that
- 54:04Speaker 4: they see represent in front of them. Like I think
- 54:06Speaker 4: then we're touching on like there's a level of bravery
- 54:09Speaker 4: that is like shown that people are like they take
- 54:11Speaker 4: up from the spirit of like seeing people doing and
- 54:14Speaker 4: facing these matters. So like them, like so giving it
- 54:17Speaker 4: up to well, if you sacrifice and the impossible will happen.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Religion kind of like offering kind of things like that's
- 54:25Speaker 4: that's still.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Kind of it's kind of conservative.
- 54:28Speaker 4: It's not actually taking the matter into your own hand
- 54:31Speaker 4: to do it, because you can as a person do
- 54:32Speaker 4: something about stuff.
- 54:34Speaker 1: And it is literally an art giving you a message.
- 54:37Speaker 1: It's just a fup message, like that's the thing. It's
- 54:40Speaker 1: not that you know, That's how I keep saying. People
- 54:42Speaker 1: add like the art doesn't always have messages message. All
- 54:46Speaker 1: art is political, All art is racial. I was doing
- 54:50Speaker 1: off on somebody just the other day when they were
- 54:52Speaker 1: trying to tell me that, you know, I'm like everything
- 54:55Speaker 1: is influenced by this talk whiteness.
- 54:57Speaker 5: It's people we had. I got to remember that part.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Anything that's made by a person's going to have inherent influence,
- 55:03Speaker 2: inherent effectiveness, adherent politics, adherent everything because it's made by
- 55:08Speaker 2: an imperfect being that has thoughts, ideas, emotions like that.
- 55:13Speaker 2: I don't know why that's so unheard misunderstood by people.
- 55:17Speaker 1: It's also how people don't want this up, Like we
- 55:18Speaker 1: had Juno Diaz on the show years ago and he
- 55:21Speaker 1: broke it down. How every you know, part of science
- 55:24Speaker 1: fiction and fantasy comes from people of color. You know,
- 55:27Speaker 1: it's just the stories that are being told are just
- 55:30Speaker 1: have huge influences. Doomed Star Wars down the line, you know,
- 55:34Speaker 1: again and again, zombies come out of Haiti and people's
- 55:38Speaker 1: fear of being worked to death and then having to
- 55:41Speaker 1: work in the after life. You know, that is where
- 55:44Speaker 1: that original zombie story comes from. It's all from us,
- 55:47Speaker 1: you know. X Men. Going back to X Men, like
- 55:49Speaker 1: we said, has always been a vehicle for people like
- 55:52Speaker 1: Chris Claremont, who was a very left, very you know,
- 55:56Speaker 1: open weird, sexual white man to tell stories about oppressed people.
- 56:02Speaker 1: You know, Hickman who came on and did the Kakoa era,
- 56:05Speaker 1: is the one who's sitting there telling us your machines
- 56:07Speaker 1: are a real problem. There's always be fucking evil humans
- 56:10Speaker 1: and evil mutants, et cetera. But you know, in the end,
- 56:13Speaker 1: it's going to be you know, the machines that do it,
- 56:15Speaker 1: and then they, you know, push back on this. That's
- 56:17Speaker 1: what happens, like these great riders, great people come in
- 56:21Speaker 1: and you use the art to push forward and then
- 56:23Speaker 1: of course the state is going to push back, but
- 56:25Speaker 1: you use the art and to see the art not
- 56:28Speaker 1: being used like that, And like you said, Porsche, with
- 56:30Speaker 1: this upcoming X Men movie, it just seems like the
- 56:32Speaker 1: casting is just basically as fucked to me so far,
- 56:35Speaker 1: Like you got white boy for Cyclops, you know, white
- 56:37Speaker 1: women for Jean Gray, you know Emma Frost. We're gonna
- 56:41Speaker 1: get the one black character restorm probably. It's like it
- 56:43Speaker 1: doesn't seem like there's could be anything other than what
- 56:46Speaker 1: the norm has been. And people be like, well that's
- 56:48Speaker 1: what the comments were, and I'm like, I don't give
- 56:49Speaker 1: a shit, nigga, you know what I mean, Like, I
- 56:51Speaker 1: don't have time for that. We live in this world
- 56:53Speaker 1: where it's like we need to push back and people
- 56:56Speaker 1: are just accepting too much of whack shit. Man, I
- 56:59Speaker 1: don't no, I have no hope for that intimate movie.
- 57:03Speaker 5: Do you have hope for Season three of X Men
- 57:05Speaker 5: ninety seven?
- 57:06Speaker 1: Lo oh? I know, man, it hurts. It hurts me
- 57:10Speaker 1: to say that, like today, it really hurts me to
- 57:12Speaker 1: say that. But you have super low expectations for season
- 57:15Speaker 1: three because I just I see the writing on the ball, man.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Like I was in Manhattan the other day and I
- 57:20Speaker 1: saw this new sports bar coming up where they had
- 57:23Speaker 1: Hulk Hogan on it, you know, like plastered on the
- 57:27Speaker 1: wall outside, and it's like, that's where we're heading, you
- 57:31Speaker 1: know where It's like, you know, Hull Cogan, which is
- 57:33Speaker 1: banned a few years ago and now he's back on,
- 57:36Speaker 1: you know, being used as advertisement cycle. Yeah, this cycle,
- 57:40Speaker 1: I know, like you know recipes to my mom, like
- 57:42Speaker 1: America takes one step forward, it's going to take two
- 57:45Speaker 1: steps back, you know. My mom told me that, and
- 57:48Speaker 1: I did not get it when I was a kid.
- 57:50Speaker 1: I thought, oh, well, what made progress here? Then you
- 57:53Speaker 1: weren't listening.
- 57:54Speaker 2: Production is yeah, production is complete on X ninety seven
- 57:58Speaker 2: for the season three, so it is probably gonna release
- 58:00Speaker 2: next year next summer, yep, probably around the same time.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Do you have hope for the written stories of X Men?
- 58:09Speaker 1: Right now? It's comics. It's been pretty bad right now.
- 58:12Speaker 1: It'll go in cycles though, But like you know, we
- 58:14Speaker 1: had Cola, Like the CoA is so incredible for the
- 58:17Speaker 1: most part of it that it's like I can just
- 58:19Speaker 1: reread that over and over again. Like I said, I
- 58:21Speaker 1: just reread a lot of Claremont, which has all these
- 58:23Speaker 1: forward thinking ideas and stuff, you know, even when it
- 58:26Speaker 1: got weird. So it's like, right now the X Men
- 58:28Speaker 1: comic is in a like I don't say bad place,
- 58:31Speaker 1: but in a holding pattern, and the holding pattern seem
- 58:34Speaker 1: to be waiting for the movie, and out of the
- 58:36Speaker 1: movie seems to be moving in a very basic, you know, ideal.
- 58:41Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't I don't think the
- 58:43Speaker 1: comic is going to do another revolutionary run for a
- 58:45Speaker 1: while now.
- 58:46Speaker 4: So like the state of X Men is kind of bleak,
- 58:48Speaker 4: just like the state of the world is kind of bleak.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's also like I don't think the state
- 58:53Speaker 1: of the world is big. I think the state of
- 58:55Speaker 1: large multinational corporations are kind of bleak.
- 58:58Speaker 3: You know, they're running the world, yeah, but.
- 59:00Speaker 1: You know, in the end, they you know, they do
- 59:02Speaker 1: not have the power when it really comes down to it.
- 59:04Speaker 1: The power is always with the people. And I believe
- 59:06Speaker 1: more in independent art and things of that nature than
- 59:09Speaker 1: I've ever believed in. You know this type shit, go
- 59:14Speaker 1: see your mother, your mother, your mother soon in theaters,
- 59:16Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like I like that. You know,
- 59:19Speaker 1: we've we've had long distresses about this. Like I've never
- 59:22Speaker 1: been the one who's been as hype for Black Panthers
- 59:25Speaker 1: as I am for whatever Ryan Coogler does after Black
- 59:28Speaker 1: Panther Man, you know, like I don't even ship man,
- 59:32Speaker 1: Like we don't own these things. And so, you know,
- 59:35Speaker 1: like the whole Ulta Chada's back game, Who cares? I
- 59:40Speaker 1: don't care, Fam, Like I'm entertained and I watch it
- 59:43Speaker 1: and we review it. But do I put my faith
- 59:45Speaker 1: in it? You know like Nightcrawler did? Nah? Not at all?
- 59:49Speaker 1: You know? No.
- 59:50Speaker 4: No, Oh, so you're calling a Nightcrawler misguided or even worse.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been said that though they always say wants
- 59:59Speaker 2: to kill you.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: There's no time for that. Fam. I'm not that type
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: of Christian. I am not. I'm down with the Jesus
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: who flipped the tables. I'm not down with this one
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: who talked about turning other motherfucker cheek. I am not.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: You know no, I'll slap the shit out of you first, Fam,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I ain't turning nothing like the meat on their hair
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: at Third found Ship about them niggas. I ain't here
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: for that. I know all that bullshit. No, no, I'm not.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I mean, sorry, maam. They walked us into the slave
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: ship for that. I don't, you know, not all this Yeah, misguided, Yeah, yeah, he.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Said, that's the least.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: At the least, you know, it's good, you know, you
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: get your good little messages out of it. But like
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: all the messages they were teaching in this episode, besides
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: having faith, Yeah, I believe in faith, you know, that
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: is something that you know. But I do feel like
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: the way they're using faith in this episode is really
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: kind of messed up.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: It's twisted in the way they's always been twisted. I believe.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: I think that Miles Morales his faith is the better faith,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: faith himself faithing like that.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Then. Yeah.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: The only other thing I had to say about this
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: episode that's not as profound as everything we've just been
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: talking about is just, out of everybody to guard Gambit,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: they chose Polaris and Bishop, and I didn't understand that combination.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: I just thought there were some other people maybe a
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: little bit better equipped to be guards. I don't know,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: kind of just felt like, I don't know, man was
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: going to leave that there.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: Ultimately, the best guard for Gampit was Gampit himself, like
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: he was like, I'm not gonna be He heard a
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: battle and he was like, I'm gonna be.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: No gazl in distress.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: It's like he's like Bishop and let me flip a
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: guard and I'm out here one.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Knock everybody out.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Like and I'm not hating on Polarios and Bishop, like
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: they they got power, they could or whatever.
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: They work when stuff is on their level.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I just didn't understand them being positioned there, Like I
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: was just like, so y'all want him to get taken Okay,
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: got it.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: See, but this is me going back to being nerve.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Polaris and Bishops should have served them. Yes, okay, that's
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I said that.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I had a whole conversation about this about the power levels.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Polaris not going out of control, lifting up you know, takers.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: She is also like she took and took out death.
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: She took out death, execute the death room.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: She took out danger, then you took out She is
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: the mistress of Madnetism.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: She's the second most powerful magnetic VID person.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: But I were never going to do that, which is
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: why I said, so why did they choose those two?
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: And right now she's the number one because Magneto's dead.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: And then beyond beyond that, Bishop can absorb any energy.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Siren shooting that sonic blast of him, he should have
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: absorbed it. What's and he can repel it with energy blasts?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: So what's then punching them here? They said that, oh,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: we can do this all day. No, that's not right.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: You could punch him a couple of times and then
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: he would have blasted you into the next room. You know.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: The only one who's really like more difficult than the
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: rest is the multiple man is because when you hit him,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: he multiplies, right, They didn't show that. It was more
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: like he multiplied himself. But no, wolvespan they were all suckers.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: They Wolfpane was was an All of them were non
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: threats to those two for real. Uh huh.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: It felt like to My question is is this a
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: case of putting.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Not felling them?
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: Now?
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: Like was that because like her and Bushops have been
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: getting it on and so they were kind of like
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: they were just kind of too much and.
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: They're like zone for the train.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: The after glow.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: They're like, oh, I'm after glow right now, Like I'm.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Not too much.
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: They were making fucking eyes at each other like.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Together.
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: No, it was a case of sucking plot armor and also.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Giving another chance to take people out for me, which
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: is why, like, damn, why you gotta do all the work, nigga,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: Like he can't even be resting. He got he's fighting
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: apocalypse in his mind.
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: My nigga, He's still gotta say so again.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I didn't understand them picking those two, especially when I
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: was like, they're gonna make this stupid and sure enough,
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: sure enough, and I'm not talking about they probably just
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: talking about that they're not gonna let this work.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: And that's why you have Havoc in there, because Havoc,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: you know, can shoot power to blasts through everything, rocks
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: the room, you know, Polaris and them get blasted away.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Cycloth try to come in there, oh my brother, you
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: know boom, And.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: Yet Havoc was playing star Fox, would you believe?
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Like no, like, and that's that's the other silly thing
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: have It could have blown her out of the stride immediately,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Like I mean, I guess he didn't want to just
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: murder the little girl.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: But okay, because.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I don't know. I was like, that's gross, Yes, it's gross.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Having is a grown man. Jubilee is supposed to be
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: at most eighteen.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: I'm not a little kid. I told you guys this already.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Stop lying, Nigga, you're definitely not a grown man like
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Avac is like this Nigga's first generation X men. You
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: were like fourth fifth generation X man.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: They're presenting him as if he's like in his early twenties.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: How old is Soccoloe is supposed to be?
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: He looks like he's in his thirties.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Sorry, well haven't you be five? Yeah? Like right, he's
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: the younger brother, I think. But right, you know they
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: are close in age two three years.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: I'm saying, you say that with knowledge of what's supposed
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: to be. They're showing him in this series like he's
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: like he's talking in the same like level as like polaricitist.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: He did.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: I know, He's like he's his like actual form physically
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: does not look aged like a little even like a
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: little bit more age towards like Jean Gray even or
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: like cyclos.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: He doesn't look the same age.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: As then all right, well, I mean maybe they're just
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: saying these niggas are not brothers, and they just have
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: the last name Summers for some reason, like they were brothers.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: That's the thing.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: They are brothers.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: She was a witch conversation, which is going on?
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: My sister was a witch. She came in a bubble bo.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: I think they're forgetting just a lot of ninety two
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: now too. It's like they're just like trying to erase,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you know, like what people don't remember. Like I said,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: maybe they just knew what these dudes are brothers. It
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: feels like that way, and who cares? You know? At
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: this point.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: The problems with this episode another non like very important question.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: The ship die again, like because it was taking on
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: water at the end. Maybe and again maybe Beasts because
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: like Beasts was like whenever Beasts came back and she
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: was like, thank you for waking me, yeah, and then
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: wrote it took a morner.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: So I was like, is it done now?
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: But maybe Beasts because BET's has relationship with Shit. Maybe
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: we just didn't see this because he was worried about Kurt,
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: you know, at the end. Maybe we didn't see a
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: scene while Kurt was doing whatever He's figured out something
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: for Shit.
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: I guess man, this shit is stupid. Now I'm getting mad.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: The point is, some stuff is just not closed some loops,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: some ends are not you know, tied, and certain things
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: have gone back to the old story again. And at
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: least as far as what's gonna happen, I gues we
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: said the Brotherhood. Yes, we have the setup of you know,
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Donald Trumpe in office. We get it like it And
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: I realized what the word I was looking for earlier.
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: It feels unimaginative.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's probably what's been bugging me about this season
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: finale specifically.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: It doesn't feel real and.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: You've got so much like great storylines to take from.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Like I said, even well before co CoA, there's just
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: too many. There's something in the nineties. There's a lot
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: of great stuff, and it it seems like the speed
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: running shit is really catching up to them. They ran
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: through a lot of stuff that they can reuse, a
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: lot of stuff was used in ninety two that they don't.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: They're like, because we thought they were going into an
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: age of apocalypse, this next season does not seem to
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: be happening at all, because they already kind of did
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: that in ninety two, and I felt that. When I
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: rewatched those episodes, I was like, I doubt they do that.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: So I don't know. It just feels like back to basis.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Like you said, Donald Trump's president, Brotherhood of evil mutants,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: good on bad on both sides.
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: As a creative, you struggle as a watcher.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I struggle that too. So what are the good thing
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: of wonder man? God? Damn boy? Yeah, that's giving me nothing.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Like we're gathering that we are not fully being challenged.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: We're not fully being challenged in terms of our mentals.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: We're not fully being challenged in terms of our own
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: morality and everything else.
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: And when we get close, state nerve fit.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: So when do they get close?
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: You see, we see the potential in the in the distance,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: and we're like close and then you feel, you feel
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: you get close, you can feel the warmth of the fire,
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: but you can't you know, you can't quite get there.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: I can't even get inside. Boy, they shut that though.
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: Wonders close no room in needing diamond in the rough.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: I seek meager combinations like Korea. That's all I see,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: meager accommodations, and I can't.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: Even get anything else.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Guys to cover for the season finale, or anything about
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: X ninety seven.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Well, my man say about rotten Nation, you will pay
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: for your rot.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Nation will crumble Disney, they start that.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Ship.
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: That's that. That's that's I use that line all the time.
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: It was so funny you said you will crumbles.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I know they won't. That's the word had.
