- 0:00Speaker 1: A couple more minutes with coach cav Thanks to both
- 0:02Speaker 1: Tyler Hilton and Thomasinho for joining us earlier on the
- 0:05Speaker 1: zoom call. That's courtesy of Collin Stewart setting those up.
- 0:08Speaker 1: All Right, we have not really talked about this, but
- 0:10Speaker 1: it's Connecticut Ice weekend and oh, Quinnipiac's on the board
- 0:14Speaker 1: Friday afternoon, four o'clock. Adam will have the pregame in
- 0:17Speaker 1: three forty five. That'll be the start of our broadcast
- 0:20Speaker 1: schedule for the second semester. We had a ton of
- 0:22Speaker 1: games and it's Quinnipiac again. They've been that team that's
- 0:26Speaker 1: been in your way to getting a trophy the last
- 0:28Speaker 1: three years. And now you get them to start on Friday,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and you know they've they've come along as of late,
- 0:33Speaker 1: they're playing better hockey, but they're always going to be
- 0:36Speaker 1: that team that you got to go over the MP
- 0:37Speaker 1: against them.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we do. And this is just a new year
- 0:40Speaker 2: and they're a different team and we're a different team.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So I'm not really gonna look back on old films
- 0:48Speaker 2: when when it comes to this game. They're playing pretty well.
- 0:50Speaker 2: They're three on one in their last four and so
- 0:52Speaker 2: were we. It's gonna be a good hockey game. Rams
- 0:56Speaker 2: a great coach, they never beat themselves. They excellent special teams.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I think the power plays at twenty nine percent, the
- 1:04Speaker 2: good face off team. They're very structured, So we're going
- 1:08Speaker 2: to have to play disciplined ourselves. It's the one area
- 1:11Speaker 2: I thought. The only place I was disappointed on the
- 1:14Speaker 2: weekend was I thought we lacked a little discipline on
- 1:16Speaker 2: Saturday night, taking a couple penalties that nullified power plays
- 1:20Speaker 2: for us. But we can't we can't be doing that
- 1:25Speaker 2: come Friday if we want to be Quinnipiac.
- 1:28Speaker 3: When you have a couple of you know, four straight games,
- 1:30Speaker 3: but positive results against ranked opponents, and then you have
- 1:34Speaker 3: a couple of non conference games coming up. But does
- 1:37Speaker 3: it help where there is a trophy as that that
- 1:39Speaker 3: carrot to kind of help lead the guys this weekend.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Ah, that's always that always, you know, amplifies the game
- 1:47Speaker 2: when there's a trophy on the line. There's no question
- 1:49Speaker 2: about it. I think our guys are more focused on
- 1:53Speaker 2: We're really just taking one weekend at a time because
- 1:55Speaker 2: our schedule has been you know, New Hampshire was ranked,
- 2:00Speaker 2: was ranked, Quinnipiac's ranked. We're going to play Providence is ranked,
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's like and then you play U Mass and Lowell
- 2:06Speaker 2: who were ranked. So it's just one weekend after another,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and I think we've been pretty good at staying in
- 2:11Speaker 2: the moment and just focusing on the weekend at hand.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I want to ask a bit of an oddball question
- 2:15Speaker 3: where you have just a couple of guys on the
- 2:18Speaker 3: team that are draft picks, and so what has it
- 2:21Speaker 3: been like as the head coach with have scouts been
- 2:24Speaker 3: kind of floating around? How does that work? Where you know,
- 2:27Speaker 3: getting guys to to look at some players that obviously
- 2:30Speaker 3: have talent to play at the next level.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Well, you're looking at Mark Gackcomb. I mean, he played
- 2:34Speaker 2: his first game for the Islanders last week and he's
- 2:37Speaker 2: up right now playing games he played last night and
- 2:40Speaker 2: he wasn't drafted, right, you know, so New Power wasn't
- 2:45Speaker 2: drafted and he's on the verge of playing in the NHL. So,
- 2:49Speaker 2: you know, I think our guys, we have some guys,
- 2:53Speaker 2: some great players. I think Ardula, Whitcomb, Shay haand none
- 2:57Speaker 2: of those guys were drafted. Hung wasn't drafted. So in
- 3:02Speaker 2: some ways it's it's good because I think they're hungry.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And another way it's not great because they're free agents
- 3:09Speaker 2: and they can be plucked at any point.
- 3:12Speaker 1: All right, well, we wish you all the best of luck.
- 3:14Speaker 1: This weekend. I will be on an airplane for Omaha,
- 3:17Speaker 1: so I hope when I land in Omaha, I have
- 3:20Speaker 1: some good news to.
- 3:21Speaker 2: M's Pub, great spot to eat, great on the Old Market.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Okay, done, well, there's not far from great. Well. Jay
- 3:28Speaker 1: gilbert is right at the hotel too, I mean Adam
- 3:30Speaker 1: and I went.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So that's the hotel I stayed at. Yeah, when I
- 3:32Speaker 2: was out there recruiting. Okay, yeah, Jay Gilberts is great.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I went there for dinner. But M's Pub, Bob, MS,
- 3:37Speaker 2: go find it in the Old Market.
- 3:38Speaker 1: All right. Just make sure I have good news on
- 3:40Speaker 1: Friday when we land.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, got it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Best of luck, all right. Thanks to Adam, thanks to Mike,
- 3:44Speaker 1: Thanks to all of you listening Friday afternoon, three forty five.
