- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Do do do do do do do do do do do do this would be what our podcast would be like if we had intro music.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is literally the worst.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: We need to plan this out.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: Lauren.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: I don't know, this is just more chaos.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: This is more real.
- 0:28SPEAKER_04: Real realistic where we talk about our hot takes on things.
- 0:36SPEAKER_04: Backed up with minimal research and facts.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: And a whole lot of opinion.
- 0:45SPEAKER_04: And a whole lot of like, hmm, this is probably dumb.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: It's like I thought about this.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: Or I didn't, or I'm just responding.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: And you're getting my knee-jerk reaction.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: It's great.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Such such high-level stuff.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, love it.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Intro fashion.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Uh do you have a petty thing?
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: You were kind of just talking about one before you hit record.
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: When you hear the team's call track, which sounds about like our intro song today.
- 1:27SPEAKER_04: Go off on and out.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Do do do do do.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: I'm like, Which wasn't that Skype's call?
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: Uh I think so.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: Didn't that used to be Skype?
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Okay, anyway.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: But yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: And then you just you get a call out of the blue and it starts playing the music, and you're like, man, now I gotta have a conversation that I don't want to have with somebody that I probably don't want to talk to.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: So that was the whole point of texting for our generation, and I am, like, was so that I didn't have to answer a call.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: That's why nobody has my work number.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Because I don't have a work number.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: The phone is the worst, and now we're forced into it.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Because of culture.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: But when it's a scheduled meeting, it doesn't play the music, which is great.
- 2:14SPEAKER_04: Because it's like, yeah.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: Okay, great.
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: Like, this is expected.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: We don't need the music.
- 2:20SPEAKER_04: But the music happens unannounced.
- 2:22SPEAKER_04: And then it's like an entire generation of people have PTSD.
- 2:26SPEAKER_04: Every time that song plays.
- 2:29SPEAKER_04: Oh my boss is calling me.
- 2:30SPEAKER_04: Is it good or bad?
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: It's a quick chat.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: The worst thing ever.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: One of our listeners I know despises the quick chat.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Definitely has PTSD from the quick chat.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Terrible.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: It's never quick.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: No.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: No, never.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: It was more.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: It's just I didn't want to take the time to type this all out.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: That's what it is.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: But you don't even have to anymore.
- 3:01SPEAKER_04: You just tell Claude what you want.
- 3:02SPEAKER_04: And Claude does it.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: You don't even need teammates.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: You don't even need to.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: And it's the quick chat.
- 3:11SPEAKER_04: Oh God.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: Do you have a petty?
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: It used to be all the icebreaker questions for the start of a meeting, and I am definitely uh an offender in having icebreaker questions.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: Like for a while, that was part of my job a couple jobs back.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: It was like, help everybody get ready and participate.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Help them transition brain-wise.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: I'm like, nobody likes this.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: Maybe I should have asked a more work question, but it's always like, oh, we're the stupid two truths and a lie.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I don't know.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: I just I use the same one all the time.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: Just every time.
- 3:59SPEAKER_04: Just every time.
- 4:00SPEAKER_04: In the middle.
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Yep, it's far enough apart.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: But I I hate those icebreaker things.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: But like, and I get that I get that small talk is required to like build social trust.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: You like wade into the water instead of just diving in.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Like, I understand that neurotypicals need that.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: I was like, you might have the I do not need that.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: Like, drop me into the deep end.
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: Oh, I might have the tism if.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, maybe.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Speaking of deep end, uh, this is not a segue to the actual content.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh no.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: I can't remember who I was talking to, but we were talking about our irrational fear of like deep water, and especially in pools, like monsters living in the grate, like down, like the drainage thing down there.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: And so it would always freak me out.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: I always stayed away from that drainage thing in the pond.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: And then if I ever accidentally stepped on it, it would scare the shhh Noki out of me, and I would be like, ah, jump, like rocket out of the water.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: It was always so bad.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: But I just I don't like water where I can't really see what's going on.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: I think there was some TV episode when I was a child of it wasn't family.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, I think it was all in the family.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Um, like somebody has a weird dream that there are like reptiles coming out of the drains, like a small alligator crawls up the toilet and like bites somebody while they're going to the bathroom, and somebody else is taking a bath, and some sort of lizard comes up the drain and starts attacking them.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: I'm like, maybe that's what did it for me, but I don't know what I don't know what does it for everybody else, but I'm like, that's where my fear of drainage holes came from inside water.
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: The drain of a pool can kill you, but that's not how it's gonna kill you.
- 6:15SPEAKER_04: As someone who grew up with a pool for a while.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Wait, how does it kill you?
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Other than just getting stuck in it.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: You can get stuck to it, especially if you don't if you're not super strong, but the other thing it can do is any orifices that get stuck to it, the pressure created can uh cause pressure.
- 6:41SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: My fears were not unfounded just for different reasons.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: I was like, There aren't gonna be lizards.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: There aren't lizards crawling out.
- 6:53unknown: No.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: No lizards.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's good to know.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: No lizards.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Oh crap.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: That's bad.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: No lizards involved in the making of this pool.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: That's good.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: There really shouldn't be.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Man.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, I have a video for you to watch to kick us off.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 7:26SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: It's like two minutes long, so hang in there.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to It is in War! World War One.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: War.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: World War II.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: More.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: The Vietnam War.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: War.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Hello, I'm Semarry Colonel.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: That was a congressionally authorized counteroffensive.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Don't worry, we get right back in front of the Korean War.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: More.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: No, that was police action.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: They had a tennis instead.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, the first and second and write more.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: They identify as military action.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: It's a bit like problems, except we kill people.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: I'm somebody that was clinical action on the war.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: I'm somebody that was a long force of the population of the war in the wall.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: It's a tricky question.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: We don't have to follow it in the United States, but then I'll have the fifty fellows.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Don't even worry about the other thing, fellas.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: War on Christmas.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: It is a war for the soul of the nation and whether or not I can wish my children Merry Christmas.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, you know what?
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: I quit.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: I don't want to do this anymore.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Merry Christmas!
- 9:11SPEAKER_04: I do feel like we are stuck in some kind of version of this game show.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: Yes, we are.
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: I don't like it.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: Okay, so nothing is a war.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: Unless it was the war.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: Essentially.
- 9:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, unless unless it was the war.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: If Congress says so.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Only a war if Congress approves it and calls it a war.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: So there are a lot of things that are not wars.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: According to some.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Like Vietnam War.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Not a war.
- 9:56unknown: Okay.
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: And Korean War, also not a war.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Not a war.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Um war on terror.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: Not a war.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: Not a war.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: Iran.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: Not a warghanistan.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Not wars.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: Venezuela.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Not a war.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: Definitely not a war.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: All kinds of um, what was one of them?
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: Kinetic military action?
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: I was like that's military incursion or something.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: I was like, yes.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: Yes, that things are moving to make this happen.
- 10:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: So nameless Bosnia.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Probably not a war.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, probably not.
- 10:46SPEAKER_04: Probably not a war.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, but the war on Christmas.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: The war on Christmas.
- 10:53SPEAKER_04: Definitely war.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: That's war.
- 10:55SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: And you know, if they're not really pink.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: And I want to be able to say.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: And I want to be able to say, Merry Christmas.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: I don't want to have to say happy holidays.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: That's like say whatever you want.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: You can do that.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: You can do that.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: My goodness.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: Christmas is also one thing.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: People you're allowed.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: So.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: Although some people's well, I was gonna say some people's birthdays, everybody's birthdays are one day a year.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: But they treat them as a season.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Which again.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: But then I only say happy birthday one day.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: So there we go.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: So maybe you should only be able to say Merry Christmas on Christmas.
- 11:58unknown: No.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 12:01SPEAKER_04: Never mind.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: That's part of the war on Christmas.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: I don't care.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: That is the war on Christmas.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: It's the entire war on Christmas.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: It's fair though, because like I don't say happy Easter on any day but Easter.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: And I don't really say happy Easter anymore anyway, but back when I said it, it was really only that day.
- 12:23SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah, because it's one day.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: You don't need to say it more than one time.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: Mm-mm.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: When does a season officially start?
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Is it when Reese's finally drops their season-related shape?
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Reese's peanut butter, egg, or pumpkin, or tree.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: Christmas tree or yeah.
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: They're really missing out on the 4th of July.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Uh I just a rectangle for a flag.
- 13:06SPEAKER_04: I was thinking just a star.
- 13:09SPEAKER_02: That's more exciting.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: It was like just a break.
- 13:18SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 13:19SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 13:20SPEAKER_04: I because you could say Halloween started in July.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: Which for some it did.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: I feel like yeah, my neighbor's down the hill with their skeleton that is a year-round skeleton that we dress up for every season now.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: Did I tell you they got a bigger one?
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: No.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: Oh this is gonna be great.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: It's like 20 feet tall.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: I'm just like, oh my god.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: The one that's been out there is huge.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, this is twice as big as that one.
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: I can't wait.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: Now you know.
- 14:01SPEAKER_04: You too could get a giant skeleton and put it in your living room.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: Hallway?
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: It can be for just right next to my front door and welcome everyone into the building.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it'll be fine.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: As if I need anything else making me the weird woman in the corner.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: Oh Lord.
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: You just gotta go lean into it.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: Oh I uh no, I I share that video because I saw a clip.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: This was I found that a week or two ago now, but there I had also the same day seen a clip of JD Vance explaining why Iran is not another war.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: And it's not a war.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: It's just like, oh, okay.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: Sure, not a war.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Never mind.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: As of a week ago, no, no, no, as of the end of August, we've spent 38, 39 billion, projected to spend uh like another three billion by middle of September.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, not a war.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: We've just spent tens of billions of dollars on this and blowing through all of our munitions and needing emergency funding for more not a more not a war.
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: Not a war.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: Uh 18 service members, U.S.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: service members have died.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: That sucks.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: Also, what?
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say also, it's not a war because we don't really do wars as the United States.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: So we don't really attack people.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: We're the good guys.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: Why would we attack people?
- 15:54SPEAKER_04: Right, we're the good guys.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: You can't you can't be at war.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: We've always been.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: Are the good guys?
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: The moment I realized that I was like, we're the bad guys, I'm like, oh no.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, when did you realize was it bombing fishermen in the ocean from Venezuela?
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: Was it when we kidnapped the president of Venezuela?
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Was it when we bombed Iran for Iran for the first time?
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: Was it something before then?
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: Thankfully, it was before then.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: Thankfully, I realized we were the bad guys before the last 18 months.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Um, but this has really just solidified it.
- 16:42SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's like the I I saw a chart and I was trying to find it and then I gave up.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Um, just the number of countries that we have bombed in our 200 years of existence.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Obscene.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: Oh, most of them.
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Most of them.
- 17:06SPEAKER_03: It's a lot.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: Ugh.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: So not a war.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: But it's not a war.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: It's not a war.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, 18 service U.S.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: service members have died, which I'm just like, over this thing that it literally didn't need to happen.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: Um 750 wounded, and all of this is as of the end of August.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: And we know there's been more, I think, at least more uh Iranians killed or injured since then.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: Um 300 and I can read letters into numbers.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: 3,636 Iranians have been killed.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Uh and 1,701 of those are civilians.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: Like some at a wedding most recently.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: And just like, yeah, we missed the target.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: That girls' school back when this all started.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: Like, yep.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: 1,700 people, like that and then 3,600 altogether.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: These are nonprofit groups that are pulling these numbers.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: These are not like the governments of these countries saying this.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: These are nonprofits being like, hi, we should care about humans losing their lives over this stuff.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: One would think.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Not fake news.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: And not a war.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: So not a war.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Not a war.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: That is like.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: I can't remember exactly what the number was uh in the 9-11, like the attack itself.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: I think that was like 3,000 something.
- 18:56SPEAKER_04: It was over 3,200.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's what I thought.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: So yeah, it's like, that's how many people we have killed for no reason.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: Like, come on! Like, good grief.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: I correct.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: The logic, the math don't math.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: The math don't math.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: Just makes me angry.
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: And it's I mean, I I don't really care what promises were made during campaigns and at beginning of presidency.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: I don't really care because I didn't believe whatever was said.
- 19:34SPEAKER_04: And it's just been interesting to get to believe that he wouldn't go to war.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: You didn't believe that.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: I did not believe that.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I I I didn't hear it as, oh, we're definitely going to war that's not war.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: I heard it as he will say whatever he wants.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: And it really doesn't matter.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: He doesn't care what he's saying.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: And that's what it appears.
- 20:07SPEAKER_02: Because we had access to the street before he bombed it.
- 20:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: And now we do not.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: So a war just to uh distract from the Epstein files.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Yay.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Woohoo.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: I think they thought they being Trump and probably Hugsa.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: That if they went to war with Iran, A, it would be easy.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: And B, it would basically be like oh, we get all this free oil now from this other country.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: That's what I think they thought.
- 20:57SPEAKER_04: Um like, oh, it's just gonna be as easy as Venezuela was, because why wouldn't it be?
- 21:06SPEAKER_04: And it's a whole slew of other factors uh in place here.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: So This is what happens when you don't listen to experts who are there to help you make decisions because we could have called this.
- 21:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:24SPEAKER_04: So now it's been seven months.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Of a not war.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: It's not a war though.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Initiated or with support of the Department of War.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: So if you believe in name changes like that.
- 21:45SPEAKER_04: I I don't, but um Yeah.
- 21:48SPEAKER_04: Okay, so then what would you consider Venezuela?
- 21:52SPEAKER_04: Was that a war?
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: I think that I mean Ittty bitty.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: It seems more like a sneak attack.
- 22:05SPEAKER_04: But like like an act of war.
- 22:07SPEAKER_04: Like what what is but it is not a war.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, an act there we go.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: I certainly think it could have escalated.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: I think it didn't.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: Probably for a bunch of reasons that I don't understand behind the scenes or that I haven't looked into.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: But I do think it was an act of war.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: They totally could have come back at us.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: Their military force though isn't super well funded.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: So that would be a challenge.
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: Um Do you think it's war?
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: Uh I think it's an act definitely an act of war.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: It's definitely it definitely goes against Venezuela's right to be a sovereign nation.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: Which I would say is an act of war.
- 22:57SPEAKER_04: The fact that it didn't lead to ongoing conflict, I think, is sheer luck that it was Venezuela and not Iran.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: Or China or Russia or whatever.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: Gosh, yes.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: Um Yep.
- 23:15SPEAKER_04: But I do I do think it I think it was an act of war.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: Ugh.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: This is what so much of this podcast is, me just like having a reaction, can't put it into words.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: I do think we are continuing an ongoing war with Venezuela and other South American countries by bombing the crap out of boats that seemingly don't have any evidence that they are part of a drug cartel.
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: So I would say yes that.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: The most recent one was just the most recent one was just this week, right?
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: Tuesday?
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Monday or Tuesday?
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: Gosh.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Out of control.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: Quite literally.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I would say that's a war.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: That's a problem.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: But I'm probably a little bit more laissez-faire with the war word than our Congress is.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: Clearly.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's true.
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: It's like it looks like a war.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: I mean, technically we don't even.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: Not a war.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: Not a war.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: Looks like a duck.
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: Quacks like a duck.
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: Waddles like a duck.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: It's a chicken.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: It's a polar bear.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: It's a chicken.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: I like polar bear.
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: So the thing, oh Lord.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Um, check your voter registration deadlines for midterms.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: Like one thing we can attempt to do, even though we have a president that goes to war, not war, without congressional approval.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: We can still uh elect officials that will help hold the president accountable for what he did and the secretary of defense.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: So yeah, check your voter registration.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: It's October 5th, is the deadline to register for midterms.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Um in Tennessee.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's different other places.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Uh there's a website out there, I think, called votesafe.org or dot com.
- 25:51SPEAKER_02: Do not use that.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: That's Elon Musk's.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: Um, if you go to iWillvote.com, you can check your registration there and not give up a bunch of your personal data to yes.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: A trillionaire.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: Also go to your Secretary of State's website and check your voter registration in all 50 states.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: Safer.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: A lot safer.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: Do that.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: Do that.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Don't fall for Elon Musk mining for your data.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: You're looking for dot gov sites.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: The other thing I would say too is in a lot of states the locations have changed.
- 26:34SPEAKER_04: So your polling place may be different this year than it was last year.
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: That's not as true.
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: Minus Nashville for most places.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: But actually, if you were part of the redistricting in a lot of states, your polling place will be different.
- 26:51SPEAKER_04: So check that too, because you might show up at the wrong place and not be able to vote.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: That would be sad.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: Because you probably wouldn't know it until you got up there and you will have stood in line.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: And that's what they're counting on, is that you'll stand in line somewhere and then be like, ah, crud.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: And then not vote.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: So there you have it.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Um it is on your own dime.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: You do have to buy the postcards.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: You also have to pay the postage.
- 27:36SPEAKER_04: But if you are interested in doing that, you can go sign up for that on.
- 27:49SPEAKER_04: Postcards to voters.org.
- 27:52SPEAKER_04: They do not sell your information.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: It's safe.
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: So that can be something else you can do if you have extra time and a little extra money.
- 28:04SPEAKER_04: Uh like that.
- 28:06SPEAKER_04: Postage for postcards is not quite as expensive as a real stamp.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: So it's a little cheaper.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: That's handy.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: We like that.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Cheaper things.
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: Very good.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Do you have a fidget, Squishy?
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: Right now.
- 28:30SPEAKER_04: No, I'm just going to do that.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, reading messages.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's what I was hearing.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: Playing with messages.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: Which ones?
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: The little tiny ones?
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 28:42SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: The tiny magnets.
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: So satisfying.
- 28:49SPEAKER_04: It takes a long time, guys.
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: It takes a long time.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 28:58SPEAKER_04: Love those.
- 29:00SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: So what's your hobby for this week?
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Ooh, good question.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: Uh do you have one?
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: I need a minute.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: I ordered my new undated Wonderland 222 planner.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: So I'm excited for that to show up.
- 29:27SPEAKER_04: That's so cool.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: I just got back from a retreat in Indiana this week too, which is why our podcast was late.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: So yay, retreat.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: It was great.
- 29:41SPEAKER_04: I enjoyed it.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: What was theme of said retreat?
- 29:47SPEAKER_04: Um wasn't really a theme, but it was just nice that it cooled off finally on the last day, because it was it was uh toasty.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: That's bad news.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: Wasn't great.
- 30:06SPEAKER_04: It wasn't my favorite.
- 30:07unknown: No.
- 30:08SPEAKER_04: But uh the grounds were beautiful.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: So uh that's nice.
- 30:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I uh when the heat finally broke here on like Tuesday.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: It felt like it officially officially broke on Tuesday, but it started easing up on Monday.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: You know, 94 instead of a hundred.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah.
- 30:34SPEAKER_04: Which you could feel the difference.
- 30:35SPEAKER_04: I was like, it's not quite as a lot.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Yep, exactly.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: I was like always in Arizona when I first moved there.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: I I moved there in March when I and everybody was like, oh yeah, you'll feel the difference between like 90s and the hundreds.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: I was like, it's all that hot.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Like, is it really yeah, it's different.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: It's it's a different sort of different cat.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: This is like cup of steaming tea versus I opened a 400-degree oven.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: Sort of hot.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: It's it's a little different.
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: Just the smidge.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: Well, that's delightful.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: I'm so glad you got to do that.
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 31:24SPEAKER_04: What's your thing?
- 31:25SPEAKER_04: Did you think of a thing?
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah.
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: Excuse me.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: Um, six o'clock.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: It's not just a yawn.
- 31:35SPEAKER_04: It was a yawn at the point.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: It came for me.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, now my connection is unstable.
- 31:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, my body just said, do it.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, our internet hates us today.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Um probably because everybody's streaming on their 5G right now.
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: Uh yes.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: Um, my so my first planner came in a couple weeks ago, and my second and third planners came in this week.
- 32:09SPEAKER_02: So I got into that.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: What why does someone need three planners?
- 32:19SPEAKER_04: How does one person use three planners?
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: It it happens a lot easier than you think.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: Um so I have I have one planner.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: Right now, my system is I have a planner for my joy work, like the work that I do that brings me joy, not the corporate sludgery that I do to exist in a capitalist system.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: So I have joy work planner, and that's where like notes and brain dumps and to-do lists and schedules and all that stuff live there.
- 32:57unknown: Okay.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: And then I have a health planner where I just, you know, I'm keeping track of mental health, appointments, notes from appointments.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: This one is small, it's a Tamagotchi.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: If you're watching the video, you can see it.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: So it's got the little Tamagotchi babies all over it.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: Um, and so that contains oh, food prep.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: Did I say that meal prep, planning, shopping lists, all of that stuff goes in there.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: And then I have my corporate sludgery planner, which is where notes and everything from all that day lives, because sometimes I just can't type another thing.
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: I gotta write it down on paper.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: So there's that.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: So that is how I use three planners.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: I do have another planner, so a fourth planner, where I'm keeping track of life to-dos.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, so look at like an actual adult.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: Like I'm a grown-up.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: And then I tried to make a fifth planner work this year, and that was too many.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: I could not keep up with it.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: Okay, all right, okay, that's cool.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: So um I'm trying to trim back by one planner and just do three next year.
- 34:17SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I'm gonna like that or not.
- 34:20SPEAKER_04: What are you combining?
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Well, that's the thing.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: I just kind of dropped the planner for an adulting, like just personal life.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: I'm like, can I just keep that in a notebook?
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: Um, I know.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so that's yeah, then I still have joy work and I have my health tracking and everything planner, and then my corporate sludgery planner.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so we'll see.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: I don't uh oh no, I did get like they're just it's just like a thin little booklet for uh with weekly spreads for the entire year.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: So I did get that for my traveler's notebook.
- 35:07SPEAKER_02: That's probably where I'm gonna end up keeping all my to-dos.
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: Probably.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: We'll see.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:14SPEAKER_04: We will see come Jan 15.
- 35:18SPEAKER_04: How many are still in motion?
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: How many are still being used?
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: Um, I know.
- 35:24unknown: I know.
- 35:25SPEAKER_04: Could be all of them.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: Could be more.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: Maybe by then you've bought planner numero five.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: There's always a possibility.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, so you're gonna have one or two?
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: Uh two.
- 35:40SPEAKER_04: I will have one.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 35:42SPEAKER_04: Four meal prep and stuff like that, and then I will have one for everything else.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, everything.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Ah! Why is my computer jumping around?
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 35:57SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: Tell it not to do that.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: We're back.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: It jumps back over to the war video.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: It was like, we must play again.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: No.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: No.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: So two.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: Got it.
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: Got it, got it, got it.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 36:16SPEAKER_04: I like this.
- 36:16SPEAKER_04: But I also have a bunch of I'm trying a new strategy where I just have a bunch of undated planners, and if I want to hop around, I will.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: So yeah, yeah, that's the thing.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: Like last year, the thing driving all of the planners was there were so many cute options for covers.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: Like one planner was covered with a bunch of illustrated squirrels.
- 36:43SPEAKER_02: It was very similar to the Tamagotchi one.
- 36:46SPEAKER_02: And then I had a Tamagotchi cover on my sludgery, and then the really cute movin' movin' cover on my joy work one.
- 36:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:57SPEAKER_02: This year I only got one fun one, which was the sheep.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: So I have a little they're like sheep with attitude.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: I'm so excited.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: I can't wait to use that.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: And then the other ones are just different sizes, and that's what was driving the like, oh, how do I make a decision?
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: I want all of the sizes.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: I want tiny planners because tiny planners are cute.
- 37:19SPEAKER_02: They may not be useful because I can't write that small regularly.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: I have to have a very specific pen to write that small.
- 37:27SPEAKER_04: You just gotta really cramp up.
- 37:30SPEAKER_04: Just gotta punch in front of your face.
- 37:36SPEAKER_04: You just kinda gotta go.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Go full shrimp mode.
- 37:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, full shrimp.
- 37:41SPEAKER_04: You gotta full shrimp, and then you can write that small.
- 37:44SPEAKER_04: Full shrimp.
- 37:46SPEAKER_04: Full shrimp.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Contract all the muscles in your body while shrimpy.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: Mm-mm.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:54SPEAKER_04: Then you'll get a headache, but you can't write small.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Were you the one that sent me the shrimp uh emoji comment?
- 38:04SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Huh?
- 38:07SPEAKER_04: That was funny.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: That is what I said.
- 38:09SPEAKER_04: The flex emoji on Teams looks like a shrimp.
- 38:14SPEAKER_04: And once you see it, you can't unsee it.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: So I'm sorry.
- 38:20SPEAKER_02: Well then it also made me think of a former boss that was like, shrimp as big as your arm.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, oh no.
- 38:27SPEAKER_02: I was like, it's an arm that looks like shrimp, and then it's an arm that looks shrimp.
- 38:32SPEAKER_04: You don't want that shrimp that size.
- 38:36SPEAKER_04: I don't need a shrimp that size.
- 38:38SPEAKER_04: I don't want a shrimp that size.
