- 0:58Speaker 3: we're coming from New York. We don't know.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Well we weren't sure. So you were here, that you
- 1:03Speaker 2: were God?
- 1:03Speaker 3: And oh not only am I here? I have I
- 1:06Speaker 3: have a new toy. I have a new podcast specific toy. Hey, Daniel,
- 1:10Speaker 3: can you go full screen for me for a minute?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's oh hold on dad.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Me, Hey there we go. Oh look at this are
- 1:20Speaker 3: we recording?
- 1:21Speaker 2: We are?
- 1:21Speaker 3: We are? We should probably turn that on.
- 1:24Speaker 1: That's great, that's pretty great.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Nice sweet, all right, now I can turn you can
- 1:32Speaker 3: turn the light the lights see all right, all right,
- 1:36Speaker 3: it's all for the bit, all for the bit. That's
- 1:40Speaker 3: Scott knows about that.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I know about that about hey speaking to show and tell,
- 1:47Speaker 2: I got I got some drip to show off. So man,
- 1:50Speaker 2: I'm wearing my new Darmock and Jela at Tanagra shirt.
- 1:57Speaker 3: You know, I follow you on the Book of Faces,
- 2:00Speaker 3: and uh, I'm pretty sure you've been wearing that for
- 2:02Speaker 3: the last three days.
- 2:04Speaker 2: So I put I tried it is it?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Is it going to parties by itself?
- 2:10Speaker 2: Now? Yeah? Yeah? And I got this is uh an
- 2:14Speaker 2: anniversary gift for my wife. So this has its caricatures
- 2:18Speaker 2: of like all the next genrew, it's crazy. I'll post
- 2:21Speaker 2: this on the Facebook group.
- 2:23Speaker 3: She wants to She wants to make sure you don't
- 2:25Speaker 3: have an affair, so she puts all this ship on it.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I think the bus task will do that all by itself.
- 2:32Speaker 3: But so last week, one week ago, right now, we
- 2:41Speaker 3: were we were talking about me running out to an
- 2:44Speaker 3: adoption event and looking at dogs with my wife and
- 2:48Speaker 3: the kids, and uh, I'm happy to report that there
- 2:53Speaker 3: was a love connection and we brought a little guy
- 2:55Speaker 3: home with us and ironically he kind of looks like
- 2:58Speaker 3: the dog in our and are opening uh montage with
- 3:03Speaker 3: with the sandwich. So his name was his name was Sable.
- 3:08Speaker 3: He's a four and a half month old Alaskan Husky
- 3:13Speaker 3: shepherd mix. Yeah, and we we didn't really like the
- 3:19Speaker 3: name Sable. And you know, my daughter, so we should
- 3:23Speaker 3: name him Cupcake. And I said, well, mommy and daddy
- 3:25Speaker 3: liked to give dogs people names, okay, and my son said, well,
- 3:29Speaker 3: what do you want to call him? And the first
- 3:30Speaker 3: name that popped into my head was Chad. So I'm
- 3:36Speaker 3: happy to report we have a dog named Chad. Yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 3: that's all, got Scott. It also occurred to me that
- 3:46Speaker 3: you and I have something in common. Now, uh, we
- 3:50Speaker 3: we both have chads that live on the ground floor
- 3:53Speaker 3: of our house that we that we let out a
- 3:55Speaker 3: couple of times a day.
- 3:57Speaker 2: That's great. Oh yeah, I know that Chad occasionally listens
- 4:04Speaker 2: to the show. So I'm just I'm just curious.
- 4:07Speaker 3: No, he's upstairs. Look at his ass? Oh the other one,
- 4:11Speaker 3: the other one?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, I occasionally right, same thing. Yeah he does downstairs.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Yeah, you're a good boy.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Oh and you know, for the record, I'm still I'm
- 4:28Speaker 3: still a girl. Dad. You got to take care of
- 4:29Speaker 3: your your your little girls. So his middle name is Cupcake,
- 4:33Speaker 3: so we got his we got his his his papers
- 4:36Speaker 3: from the from the town clerk yesterday and his government name,
- 4:41Speaker 3: his government we call him Chad, but his government name
- 4:43Speaker 3: is Chadwick Cupcake Lombardo. So now now that everyone's caught
- 4:49Speaker 3: up on that, we could do like Star Trek podcast
- 4:54Speaker 3: or something. If you're on Oh no.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It's Daniel's turn. It's going on in your life, tell
- 5:02Speaker 2: us about your dog anniversary stories.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I don't have any dog anniversaries right now. Let's see,
- 5:10Speaker 1: just a lot of filmmaking stuff right now going on
- 5:13Speaker 1: for me. Yeah, so yeah, yeah, I've got a filmmaker
- 5:17Speaker 1: and I'm supposed to go to you later this afternoon.
- 5:19Speaker 3: So is that your heart out?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Is that?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Is that eventure?
- 5:24Speaker 1: I'll tell you later, all right, okay, all right yeah,
- 5:27Speaker 1: secret mission.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Secret mission, got it? Yeah, you can tell us what
- 5:31Speaker 3: you have to kill us, that's right. I don't want
- 5:33Speaker 3: to die, so keep it to yourself.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough? Yeah, but uh yeah, what about you, Scott?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Anything major going on?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Just uh, we celebrated an anniversary on Friday, and yesterday
- 5:47Speaker 2: we went and did our sort of it's our tradition,
- 5:49Speaker 2: uh that we just ride out to South Haven on
- 5:52Speaker 2: the motorcycle which is a harbor town about an hour away.
- 5:56Speaker 2: It's where where we went on our first date. And
- 5:59Speaker 2: they've got an American Legion there that overlooks the of
- 6:03Speaker 2: the Black River, which which goes out into Lake Michigan.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It's absolutely gorgeous. We just sat in a couple of
- 6:09Speaker 2: ad around deck chairs overlooking the river, watching the boats
- 6:14Speaker 2: go by, and sat there and then uh we went
- 6:17Speaker 2: to a fish boil and had some uh some just
- 6:23Speaker 2: an amazing meal, saw some met some amazing people. It's
- 6:27Speaker 2: always a fun time going to the legion because you meet,
- 6:30Speaker 2: you know, all these different people from different generations and
- 6:33Speaker 2: they've all got their stories and everything. So yeah, yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 2: it was. We had a lot of fun.
- 6:39Speaker 3: So did you sit in the Adirondack chairs on your
- 6:41Speaker 3: first date? Also?
- 6:43Speaker 2: No?
- 6:44Speaker 3: Or that was just OK. That was just trying to
- 6:46Speaker 3: figure out a way to get you to the actual as.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Oh honey, they got the chairs there. We gotta go,
- 6:55Speaker 3: we gotta go.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, our first date, we went down to the down
- 7:01Speaker 2: to the pier. They've got a beautiful lighthouse there.
- 7:04Speaker 3: And this is surprising. I thought your first date was
- 7:06Speaker 3: like Calama zookhon Or some ship like that.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I didn't want to.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Bring out my nerd right away. I had you got
- 7:14Speaker 2: to lure her in first. Yes, yes, you gotta be
- 7:17Speaker 2: you gotta be careful. Brainwashing takes time. Man.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Wow, I know I'm married.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so anybody who's ever married up, nos, it's
- 7:27Speaker 2: it's a delicate process.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Exactly, exactly. Yeah, we had a good timeful. You play
- 7:33Speaker 3: your cards right. If you play your cards right, she
- 7:36Speaker 3: will marry you on the enterprise and wear a protest.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Gotta play those cards right.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Though apparently by uh my, my skills weren't that incredible.
- 7:48Speaker 2: So maybe maybe uh if we ever have like a
- 7:51Speaker 2: renewal of the vows.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Well, we could talk. We could talk on the camera.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I'll give you some coaching, give you some tips. Yes, yeah,
- 7:58Speaker 3: we had it. We had a good time. The weather
- 7:59Speaker 3: was beautiful, it was I think you did fine. I
- 8:02Speaker 3: don't think you need my Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I think I think I think I did. Okay.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Wild Will says, good morning from a little too sunny
- 8:10Speaker 1: Las Vegas. So you must be an STLV.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So yeah, that's going on this week.
- 8:15Speaker 2: That's a lot.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, we should talk about see a million photos because
- 8:20Speaker 3: you know I went there several times, several years in
- 8:23Speaker 3: a row. So I'm connected on Facebook with a lot
- 8:25Speaker 3: of people who go every year. So around this time,
- 8:29Speaker 3: my Facebook feed gets flooded with pictures and it's.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sort of I'm sort of there, living vicariously
- 8:36Speaker 2: through uh Katie Nicolau weather girl Katie. Yeah, yeah, because
- 8:41Speaker 2: she's been there the whole time and posting a ton
- 8:44Speaker 2: of pictures and it looks like a great time. A
- 8:46Speaker 2: lot of people there.
- 8:48Speaker 3: So Eric, excuse me, Eric Hall. I don't know if
- 8:51Speaker 3: he listens to the show. I think he's he's part
- 8:52Speaker 3: of the Facebook group. But he's a big he's a
- 8:55Speaker 3: big cost player. I mean if the con he's there
- 8:58Speaker 3: all five days or whatever, and he schedules three costume
- 9:02Speaker 3: changes each day, so you know, I watch, I watch him,
- 9:06Speaker 3: and you know, Data is his big character the longest time,
- 9:10Speaker 3: So you know, it would be in the morning, he'd
- 9:13Speaker 3: be Season one Data, in the afternoon he seasoned, he
- 9:15Speaker 3: seasoned three Data, and then he's Wow, and then he's
- 9:19Speaker 3: Data in the zoot suit because he's Carlos from South America.
- 9:22Speaker 3: And then he's Lore and then he's Data from uh
- 9:27Speaker 3: first contact with half of his face missus. So I mean,
- 9:30Speaker 3: just all day long and actually, excuse me. There must
- 9:35Speaker 3: have been a sale on curly wigs, because a few
- 9:37Speaker 3: years ago he got a blonde curly wig and decided,
- 9:40Speaker 3: you know what, I think I could think I could
- 9:42Speaker 3: pull off O'Brien. So now now I see fifteen different
- 9:47Speaker 3: iterations of O'Brien. But it's great because they all know
- 9:50Speaker 3: each other and they all pose with each other. Yes,
- 9:53Speaker 3: I saw this picture yesterday and it was like it
- 9:57Speaker 3: was like Benjamin across the Cisco verse because there were
- 10:00Speaker 3: just eight different Cisco posing with each other. It was awesome.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Home. Yeah. Yeah, Well, and I see, like, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 2: sort of like minor Facebook celebrities too, Like you know,
- 10:13Speaker 2: Jenny who does the Beautiful Paintings, was with Katie Nicolau
- 10:18Speaker 2: picture together, and I'm like, hey, I see both of
- 10:20Speaker 2: those people. Yeah, yeah, you know, it's great. Yeah, and yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 2: the camaraderie and just the the friendship and and all that,
- 10:30Speaker 2: it's just great.
- 10:31Speaker 3: There's a woman I'm still friends with her on on Facebook.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Her uh, her first name is Orrin. I'm not sure
- 10:37Speaker 3: how to pronounce her last name. I think it's whitch.
- 10:40Speaker 3: But we've been friends on Facebook for fifteen years. At
- 10:46Speaker 3: this point, we've only met once, and it's because we
- 10:50Speaker 3: were sitting next to each other when they did the
- 10:52Speaker 3: Guinness Book of World Records for the most cosplaying Star
- 10:56Speaker 3: Trek fans in one room. Yeah, so we're sitting next
- 11:00Speaker 3: to each other. We each had our phones and you know,
- 11:02Speaker 3: we've we've read at each other, and you know, we
- 11:04Speaker 3: don't we don't talk really. Every once in a while.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We like each other's pictures and comment and whatnot. But
- 11:10Speaker 3: I feel like I feel like I know her right
- 11:12Speaker 3: because I see her stuff every day and you know,
- 11:16Speaker 3: yeah us yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I met Daniel twice.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I met Scott once.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and that was.
- 11:24Speaker 2: More than one occasion I've I've used the phrase yeah
- 11:26Speaker 2: my friends Dan and Daniel.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he didn't you guys didn't hear that.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I said you, I met Daniel twice, I met Scott once,
- 11:34Speaker 3: and yeah, that was that was enough.
- 11:36Speaker 2: That was enough. It's not about right, I figure maybe
- 11:42Speaker 2: once every three years, once every four years.
- 11:44Speaker 3: No, it's time we gotta do. We gotta we gotta
- 11:47Speaker 3: figure something out. And yeah, I'd like to do get
- 11:50Speaker 3: in the same.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Room, yeah for sure, for sure. All right, Well we
- 11:54Speaker 1: should probably move on and get to the news. So
- 12:00Speaker 1: our first news story actually comes to us from a
- 12:03Speaker 1: Facebook post that was put on because I just saw
- 12:06Speaker 1: this last minute. I thought this was really interesting. So
- 12:08Speaker 1: this comes to us from pull this up. Okay, this
- 12:12Speaker 1: is from the First Flight a Enterprise Rewatch podcast. They
- 12:17Speaker 1: put up a little note from STLV about Terry Mettallis
- 12:21Speaker 1: and apparently he talked a little bit about what would
- 12:23Speaker 1: have been season one of Legacy, and he said that
- 12:28Speaker 1: season one Legacy would be about the Klingons, who were
- 12:32Speaker 1: always a stand in for the Russians et going today,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and some unstable elements in the Empire, and one of
- 12:38Speaker 1: those elements was going to be Alexander, So it would
- 12:41Speaker 1: be a very different Wharf Alexander's storyline. So I don't
- 12:45Speaker 1: know if that means Alexander is a part of the Empire,
- 12:48Speaker 1: maybe a part of a rival faction against the Empire.
- 12:54Speaker 3: If they were wanting to do something like relevant to today, yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 3: I would think, and this would be an interesting story.
- 13:02Speaker 3: So Alexander is on a former Klingon colony Ukraine, right,
- 13:09Speaker 3: and the Empire wants to reabsorb it into the Empire
- 13:13Speaker 3: and the people there aren't having it. Yeah, and Wharf
- 13:18Speaker 3: is loyal to the Empire, and Alexander is loyal to
- 13:21Speaker 3: his colony and the families at odds. Yeah, God, we
- 13:26Speaker 3: should right these ship.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I was gonna say, that would be pretty great. Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I just thought that was an interesting little nugget and
- 13:35Speaker 1: I thought it'd be fun to talk about. So yeah, And.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I mean, the more I think about it, it's like, Okay,
- 13:40Speaker 3: so the Federation has a has a unstable at time
- 13:45Speaker 3: at times peace with the Klingon Empire. But at the
- 13:49Speaker 3: same time they're funding this colony in their civil war,
- 13:54Speaker 3: but they won't put boots on the ground, they won't
- 13:57Speaker 3: commit you know, yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Supposed to be this this well, and also there'd be
- 14:07Speaker 1: a lot of talk from the Klingon Empire talking to
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Federation.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Oh you're you're just your two face because you you'll
- 14:14Speaker 2: do this. But when when when the Romulant when we
- 14:17Speaker 2: were you know, the Romulants were trying to get help
- 14:18Speaker 2: from the you know, when the Round was trying to
- 14:21Speaker 2: help the Duras family. You were all stopping that. But this,
- 14:24Speaker 2: you'll help them, and you know a lot about the
- 14:26Speaker 2: duplicity of the Federation.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And the Colony. The Colony has a pending application for
- 14:34Speaker 3: Federation membership, and so we could you could figure out, Okay,
- 14:40Speaker 3: who are the who are the power players in the federation.
- 14:43Speaker 3: It's obviously Earth, It's obviously the Andrians. Oh man, this
- 14:49Speaker 3: is getting better. This is getting better, this is getting
- 14:53Speaker 3: better and better. Uh, it's you know, traditionally it was
- 14:57Speaker 3: the Vulcans, but now that the Vulcans and the ro
- 15:00Speaker 3: Mulans are one people, there's there's different voices in the
- 15:06Speaker 3: in the Vulcan power structure, and they're not necessarily in
- 15:10Speaker 3: line with what the other power players in the in
- 15:13Speaker 3: the federation want to do. So you have, you know,
- 15:19Speaker 3: you have two different stories going. You have the on
- 15:21Speaker 3: the ground story with Alexander and and Wharf, and then
- 15:25Speaker 3: you have the political uh stuff, Oh man, Jesus Christ.
- 15:31Speaker 2: And Alexander is do you remember Alexander from the future
- 15:36Speaker 2: He came back and okay, it's more like that Alexander,
- 15:39Speaker 2: not the bumbling kid Alexander. So he's a he's a
- 15:43Speaker 2: political strategist. He's he's garnered the support of a lot
- 15:47Speaker 2: of people. He's not he's not a peace and love guy,
- 15:52Speaker 2: you know, but he's you know, he's managed to polarize
- 15:55Speaker 2: everybody and in his colony, and he's not want this.
- 15:59Speaker 3: He is not a traditional cling on leader, that's what
- 16:02Speaker 3: you're saying, right, Like, like maybe someone like that, maybe
- 16:05Speaker 3: someone who was a TV comedian before he became president
- 16:08Speaker 3: of his coactly. This has so much potential. Yeah, this
- 16:14Speaker 3: has so much potential.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna talk about Star Trek hangover and they.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Just I feel like I have a Star Trek hangover.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yeah that's like, Yeah, what an emotional rollercoaster this show.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I ache after I watched that episode.
- 16:32Speaker 1: All right, next story comes to us from trekmovie dot
- 16:37Speaker 1: com and I don't know if you guys saw the announcement,
- 16:41Speaker 1: but we are getting more Star Trek documentaries. Sent this
- 16:46Speaker 1: the Center Seats, the documentary series is coming back for
- 16:48Speaker 1: a season.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Two Center Sea the Deuce.
- 16:51Speaker 1: That's right. So this originally aired in twenty twenty one,
- 16:55Speaker 1: so five years ago for the fifty fifth anniversary Star Trek.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So now they come back around for the sixtieth anniversary.
- 17:02Speaker 1: The original series of little mini docs came out on
- 17:06Speaker 1: the History Channel and you can still watch them on
- 17:08Speaker 1: the History Channel streaming service. It's a little bit complicated
- 17:11Speaker 1: to get to, but this new one is being put
- 17:14Speaker 1: on by the Nascel company. So guys that do the
- 17:17Speaker 1: action figures, they also did the toys that made us
- 17:19Speaker 1: movies that made us so okay, yeah yeah, and so
- 17:24Speaker 1: this new yeah, so these new ones are going to
- 17:27Speaker 1: be available on some streaming services things like Amazon Prime. Also,
- 17:32Speaker 1: they're going to be on the nasceel YouTube channel, so
- 17:35Speaker 1: much easier to get to. So okay, yeah, it should
- 17:39Speaker 1: be coming around later. I think in September it said,
- 17:43Speaker 1: but yeah, there you go, Center Seats season two. I
- 17:47Speaker 1: didn't see season one, So yeah, did you guys see
- 17:51Speaker 1: any of these the original ones?
- 17:52Speaker 3: I don't, you know, I've seen so many. I've seen
- 17:55Speaker 3: so many Star Trek documentaries over the years that I
- 17:59Speaker 3: I I can't necessarily remember which ones I've seen. And
- 18:02Speaker 3: there's times I've put one on and I get about
- 18:05Speaker 3: twelve minutes into it, I'm like, you've seen this before.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well you know us watching a Star Trek
- 18:11Speaker 2: documentary is like I don't know an expert in any
- 18:16Speaker 2: field watching a documentary about that field. Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Sometimes I watch these things and I sit there, gone,
- 18:22Speaker 3: I knew that.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I knew that, Yeah, I knew that.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I knew that.
- 18:24Speaker 2: It's like you're scrolling on TikTok or YouTube shorts and
- 18:28Speaker 2: it's like ten things about first Contact you never knew.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I'm like, am I could have made this video? Right?
- 18:35Speaker 3: I knew all that. I knew all those and number
- 18:37Speaker 3: seven is fake. That's not right?
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yeah? Well actually, actually all right.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Our next news story comes just from Deadline. And if
- 18:50Speaker 1: if the Center Seat documentary wasn't enough for you, there's
- 18:52Speaker 1: another one coming out. It's coming out the Passenger Seat.
- 18:56Speaker 1: That's right, that's right. This is from William Shatner for
- 19:01Speaker 1: the sixtieth anniversary. He's gonna have a documentary coming to
- 19:04Speaker 1: Regal cinemas in October. So I don't know if you
- 19:07Speaker 1: guys have Regals around you, but I do. So this
- 19:10Speaker 1: will be coming out October ninth. So I don't know
- 19:12Speaker 1: if it's like a special one night only or something
- 19:16Speaker 1: that wasn't really clear on here, but he's got a
- 19:18Speaker 1: documentary coming out about Star Trek, about the sixties anniversary.
- 19:22Speaker 1: What is it called sixty year Mission A Star Trek
- 19:25Speaker 1: change television and the world.
- 19:28Speaker 2: So there you go.
- 19:29Speaker 1: October ninth, you can go to the movies and watch
- 19:32Speaker 1: the documentary.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever gone to a theater to
- 19:36Speaker 3: watch documentary I have. Yeah, yeah, okay, No.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think it.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Do you still buy snacks and stuff?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Or is it feels weird?
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yeah, right, I figured it would.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I got a soda because I was like, well, I'm
- 19:51Speaker 1: gonna want to drink something. But yeah, like getting popcorn
- 19:55Speaker 1: and like a hot dog or something like that. It
- 19:57Speaker 1: feels out of place.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Just feel because it's it feels wrong.
- 20:00Speaker 3: It feels wrong.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I'm still waiting for the Voyager doc to come out. Yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 2: it's almost out. They've done a crowd funding thing and
- 20:09Speaker 2: they've they've put together a lot of stuff. But I
- 20:12Speaker 2: guess it's almost out.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Almost.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:16Speaker 3: If they don't, if they don't dedicate it to Tuvik's
- 20:19Speaker 3: I'm gonna be upset right in loving memory as it
- 20:23Speaker 3: should be, as it should be.
- 20:25Speaker 1: That's right, all right? And our last news story comes
- 20:28Speaker 1: first from Yahoo News. And I don't know if you
- 20:31Speaker 1: guys saw this, but the Writers Guild Foundation West Coast
- 20:35Speaker 1: is going to be doing a special table read of
- 20:38Speaker 1: the first episode of Star Trek The Man Trap. This
- 20:42Speaker 1: will be what day is it?
- 20:45Speaker 3: That's Scott's nickname?
- 20:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the mandrap.
- 20:49Speaker 2: That's my mustache.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That's right, that's right. This will be Sunday, August thirtieth.
- 20:56Speaker 1: They're going to have the cast of the Pit reading
- 21:00Speaker 1: that episode, so No Wiley will be Captain Kirk. This
- 21:05Speaker 1: should be a lot of fun. You can go in
- 21:07Speaker 1: person to watch this. Tickets for that are about like
- 21:10Speaker 1: sixty five dollars roughly, but you can live stream it
- 21:13Speaker 1: for twenty So if you want to watch this, you
- 21:16Speaker 1: can absolutely live stream.
- 21:18Speaker 3: It and you can read about it the next day
- 21:20Speaker 3: for free.
- 21:20Speaker 1: That's right. I'm sure there will be clips online afterwards.
- 21:25Speaker 1: So they call him Bruce.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You're talking about my mustache.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know who he's talking about.
- 21:31Speaker 1: There you go, but there you go. That's all the
- 21:34Speaker 1: news stories, all right?
- 21:35Speaker 3: Cool?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, alright, well main topic I guess I guess.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Fun will now come out.
- 21:46Speaker 3: All right.
- 21:46Speaker 1: So our main topic star Trek the Hangover, Star Trek,
- 21:50Speaker 1: Dude Wwards, my shuttle craft, whatever you want to call it.
- 21:52Speaker 1: This is a episode three, season four of Strange New Worlds.
- 21:57Speaker 1: A Human best Friend was the name of the episode. Yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 1: what did you guys think?
- 22:02Speaker 2: Well, I'd like to point out the drop in star
- 22:04Speaker 2: rating on IMDb from episode one two and then this
- 22:07Speaker 2: one three episode one point four. Episode two was a
- 22:12Speaker 2: seven point zero and this came in at five point Wow.
- 22:16Speaker 3: So they said that each didn't they say something like
- 22:19Speaker 3: each episode this season is going to be a different genre. Yes,
- 22:22Speaker 3: didn't they say something like that?
- 22:23Speaker 2: Okay?
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so I think the first episode of the season
- 22:28Speaker 3: the genre that they were going for, uh is star Trek.
- 22:32Speaker 3: That's the genre genre in the first episode Star Trek.
- 22:36Speaker 3: And then we got horror, and then we got dude,
- 22:38Speaker 3: Where's my car?
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah? Nah.
- 22:41Speaker 3: If they were to repeat the first genre next week,
- 22:45Speaker 3: that would be swell. That would be just swell.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad we got to my least favorite genre,
- 22:51Speaker 2: horror out of the way.
- 22:52Speaker 3: This episode did not do anything for me. I'm sorry,
- 22:55Speaker 3: go ahead, Yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 2: No, it didn't. You're absolutely right. It didn't do anything
- 22:59Speaker 2: for me either. I like this genre, not for Star Trek,
- 23:02Speaker 2: and it seems like they're they're going too far with
- 23:04Speaker 2: stuff like this.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yep, Star Trek. Humor works best when it's subtle, yes,
- 23:09Speaker 3: and this this was about as subtle as a ballot
- 23:14Speaker 3: to the face. You know.
- 23:16Speaker 2: The most humor in this episode that should have been
- 23:18Speaker 2: was like, I really like the part where he pours
- 23:21Speaker 2: a green drink. What is it? I don't know, it
- 23:22Speaker 2: is green.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a great that's a recurring the quip yep.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yep, it's a callback. Yeah. The oh god, the tattoo.
- 23:32Speaker 2: The arm tattoo was kind of funny. The face tattoo
- 23:34Speaker 2: is cringey.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Face tattoo is ridiculous. This is the this is the
- 23:38Speaker 3: sure where where we have devices that you wave over
- 23:42Speaker 3: someone's skin and it closes up a gash.
- 23:45Speaker 2: And also off limits. There's no way to starfleet that
- 23:51Speaker 2: the Start would ever allow a starship within within ten
- 23:56Speaker 2: parsecs of this place.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and time and send the entire senior staff.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Right, who's not running the ship right now?
- 24:06Speaker 2: The B team. That's right, very much so.
- 24:10Speaker 1: S squad Scarf had reminds us that the puppets are coming,
- 24:15Speaker 1: so be ready, I know and I will know. Yes,
- 24:19Speaker 1: let's repeat the structuring genre.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it might not have been so bad if this
- 24:24Speaker 3: was the puppet episode. Yeah, do this episode with puppets. Sure,
- 24:28Speaker 3: and then you know, we'll get that out of the way.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Get all the ridiculousness out of the way.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Yes, And then I said it before we have ten episodes.
- 24:36Speaker 3: We have ten episodes. You screw one up, you've screwing
- 24:39Speaker 3: up ten percent of the season. So at this point
- 24:44Speaker 3: right now, the minimum twenty percent of the seasons in
- 24:47Speaker 3: the toilet, yeah already.
- 24:48Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I did not like this episode, But part of my
- 24:53Speaker 1: frustrations were, like you had stuff within this that had
- 24:58Speaker 1: you connected it a different.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Way, yes, like this is what we're looking at right now.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it would have made way more sense, yep.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And it would have been funnier. It's it's like it's
- 25:09Speaker 1: an okay, first past, but like, like one of the
- 25:11Speaker 1: things I had a problem with was like you had
- 25:15Speaker 1: Una singing and cleon right, Yeah, that should have been
- 25:18Speaker 1: Ahura because she's the language expert, you know, ye right yeah,
- 25:27Speaker 1: And and it would have been funnier if uh number
- 25:31Speaker 1: one was running the party, because she's supposed to be
- 25:34Speaker 1: so straight laced and prim and proper.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I think sometimes the way these things come about is,
- 25:43Speaker 3: you know, Rebecca Romaine wanted to sing, right, so they
- 25:46Speaker 3: wrote something in for her to want to for her
- 25:48Speaker 3: to excuse me, for her to sing.
- 25:51Speaker 2: You know.
- 25:51Speaker 3: William Shattona rides horses, so the only reason he's riding
- 25:54Speaker 3: a horse in Star Trek Generations is because you want
- 25:57Speaker 3: to ride a horse. He's got and he's got, so
- 26:00Speaker 3: he brought his horse in his saddle and you know,
- 26:04Speaker 3: he's for for ten minutes of the movie. He probably
- 26:07Speaker 3: spent a week and a half riding around the Nevada
- 26:10Speaker 3: desert getting paid for it.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Good on him for that scarf. You're expecting the producers
- 26:17Speaker 1: to give a damn. That's so true, Yeah, Jess, it
- 26:23Speaker 1: was forced humor. Yeah, that was part of the problem. Look,
- 26:28Speaker 1: I don't mind the goofy Noess, It's just it needed
- 26:30Speaker 1: to make sense and it needed to like.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yeah, individual elements were fun to watch by himself, you know.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought it was cute that Spock spent half
- 26:40Speaker 3: of the episode thinking he was hallucinating Jim Kirk, but
- 26:43Speaker 3: it was actually Jim Kirk and and confided in him
- 26:48Speaker 3: all of these all of his innermost feelings, and that
- 26:53Speaker 3: kind of lays some of the groundwork for what we
- 26:55Speaker 3: see later on. Why are these two guys, Why are
- 26:58Speaker 3: these two guys so close?
- 26:59Speaker 2: Right?
- 27:00Speaker 3: You know, we know unfortunately unfortunately that that background came
- 27:05Speaker 3: for us in a stinker of an episode.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Right, right? Did they ever explain why some people were
- 27:13Speaker 1: not affected by the gases of the planet.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Who was not affected?
- 27:17Speaker 1: So like Scotty and and Ortega's you know, they they
- 27:21Speaker 1: first were going wacky and then they woke up and
- 27:24Speaker 1: they didn't seem affected by the gases anymore. Really, I
- 27:28Speaker 1: mean Ortega is more so.
- 27:29Speaker 3: But yeah, I you know what, You're right, they didn't.
- 27:31Speaker 2: They didn't did throughout the episode. Yeah, they should have
- 27:34Speaker 2: stayed drunk and they I mean yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And then the other thing was like, okay, so if
- 27:39Speaker 1: Kirk was really with with spot, was Kirk not affected
- 27:42Speaker 1: because he seemed cool about the whole thing?
- 27:44Speaker 3: Well, kirkus Kirkus Kirk right. So if you rewatch t Os,
- 27:51Speaker 3: you know he's he's He's Kirk, He's Superman, he's Captain America,
- 27:56Speaker 3: he's the last man standing in This doesn't affect me
- 28:00Speaker 3: because I'm the captain. I'm the Captain, dammit.
- 28:02Speaker 2: And so I also think it has something to do
- 28:06Speaker 2: with like, you know, I would imagine six Gin and
- 28:10Speaker 2: Tonic with Dan Lombardo versus six Gen and Tonics with
- 28:14Speaker 2: Daniel and and I'm imagining two different outcomes, that's true, Okay,
- 28:20Speaker 2: I'm imagining Dan just be like and then Daniel with
- 28:23Speaker 2: a lampshade on his head. Yeah.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I guess like Kurt could have been like, oh, I
- 28:27Speaker 1: took this because I knew I was going to the planet,
- 28:29Speaker 1: so I wouldn't be affected. I just went out of
- 28:30Speaker 1: a good time.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Or yeah, you know I said that I've gone to
- 28:36Speaker 3: I've gone to the bar with members of the two
- 28:39Speaker 3: Brew Crew. We're sitting over here, and the guy over
- 28:44Speaker 3: here is a career drinker and you know each of
- 28:47Speaker 3: them have six beers. Uh, this guy's under the table
- 28:51Speaker 3: on the floor. This guy you would never know that,
- 28:54Speaker 3: you know, he drank anything. So I mean if Kirk
- 28:57Speaker 3: has been if Kirk has been hanging out in bars
- 28:59Speaker 3: and clubs three nights a week for the last fifteen years,
- 29:04Speaker 3: yeah you know, maybe the intoxic it doesn't affect him
- 29:07Speaker 3: the same way. Whereas whereas Spock is so straight laced, right,
- 29:11Speaker 3: he doesn't do any of this stuff.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yeah, Kirk has gotten his ass kicked in every bar
- 29:15Speaker 2: from here to city Alpha whatever. So yeah, this planet's
- 29:22Speaker 2: like no big deal to me.
- 29:25Speaker 3: So you know, this is modern Star Trek. So I
- 29:30Speaker 3: can't help but like wonder the sexuality of every character.
- 29:35Speaker 3: It used to be the default on television was you
- 29:38Speaker 3: assume that a character is heterosexual until you see something otherwise.
- 29:43Speaker 3: But there's been such a push in the last few
- 29:47Speaker 3: years to have so many of those other characters that
- 29:52Speaker 3: I find myself asking all the time. And one character
- 29:55Speaker 3: that I find myself asking all the time is or take, Okay,
- 30:01Speaker 3: she's not so look at what she's wearing there. Okay,
- 30:05Speaker 3: she's not a very feminine character. Okay, the actress was
- 30:12Speaker 3: married to a man. Her husband died, so the actresses
- 30:16Speaker 3: was married to a man. But she does not play
- 30:19Speaker 3: the character in a very feminine way. But they've never
- 30:24Speaker 3: I don't think they've ever given any background on her
- 30:28Speaker 3: to make you think one way or the other. So
- 30:32Speaker 3: it was a little it was a little distracting this
- 30:35Speaker 3: week because I'm like, all right, are we going to
- 30:36Speaker 3: find something out? Is Scotty going to try and kiss
- 30:39Speaker 3: her because he's drunk and she and she pushes him away,
- 30:44Speaker 3: or you know, is she going to try and kiss
- 30:47Speaker 3: him and we find out, Okay, she she is heter
- 30:50Speaker 3: So that was a little distracting.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I thought there's gonna be a little bit of richer
- 30:54Speaker 2: Row thing going on.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I thought that too.
- 30:57Speaker 2: That that's what was in my head the entire time.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Well, and the other thing too, is when you do
- 31:02Speaker 1: a story like this, like what made the Hangover work, right,
- 31:05Speaker 1: is when you're when you're going back through your day
- 31:08Speaker 1: of what's the mystery of all the crap we got
- 31:11Speaker 1: up to? Right, it's supposed to reveal more about the characters.
- 31:14Speaker 1: It's supposed to reveal more about their relationship. That's not
- 31:17Speaker 1: what happened in this episode. It was just a series
- 31:19Speaker 1: of wacky events that happened, right. And then you even
- 31:23Speaker 1: had at the end of the episode where you had
- 31:26Speaker 1: two conflicting parties and they were gonna have a diplomatic meeting. Right,
- 31:31Speaker 1: So what should have happened this episode is whatever the
- 31:36Speaker 1: lesson that Ortegis and Scottie learn from working together, then
- 31:41Speaker 1: they go to the meeting and that, right, that's what
- 31:45Speaker 1: should have happened.
- 31:47Speaker 3: It's almost it's almost like you know how to write
- 31:50Speaker 3: almost television.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, almost almost.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Some day you'll be there. Yeah, Daniel always has the
- 32:00Speaker 2: best ideas. It's just a.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Big story structure.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Instead we got wacky events like yeah, there's a very
- 32:11Speaker 1: famous video of the guys from South Park and they
- 32:14Speaker 1: talk about in your story, beats and your different things
- 32:17Speaker 1: that happen within your story. If you can put and
- 32:20Speaker 1: then this happens, and then this happens, then you have
- 32:24Speaker 1: a series of just random events that do not connect.
- 32:27Speaker 1: It should be therefore this happens. Yeah, therefore, which connect
- 32:31Speaker 1: that chain. Sorry, I've been thinking about that all week
- 32:34Speaker 1: since this thing came out, and it's been bothering me.
- 32:37Speaker 3: So one thing that's bothering me is and I know
- 32:40Speaker 3: why they did it, but Kirk's wearing his uniform down
- 32:45Speaker 3: to this planet.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Everyone else is in civilian attire. He's wearing his uniform.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And I know it's because he's supposed to think that
- 32:52Speaker 3: he's uh, and we're supposed to think that he's an illusion,
- 32:56Speaker 3: a figment of his imagination. That's why he's wearing his uniform.
- 32:59Speaker 3: But it's revealed that he's been real the whole time.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Doesn't make sense.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Doesn't make sense?
- 33:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it could have. It would have been funnier if
- 33:08Speaker 1: he was, like, you know, in like a robe or something, right, Yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 1: and then when he's like, oh, yeah, okay, well I'm
- 33:14Speaker 1: just imagining him, Well then why do you imagine him
- 33:16Speaker 1: in a robe?
- 33:17Speaker 3: Ye?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yes, yes, agreed to all back would have been that
- 33:22Speaker 2: that outfit that Riker had to wear on that planet
- 33:25Speaker 2: full of women.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah, something like that.
- 33:30Speaker 2: This guy Newsroom here, Yeah da remember that actor's name, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 2: he was also in Famously he was also in Sky.
- 33:41Speaker 1: High and Kids in the Hall.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Kids in the Hall. Yeah, that's that's a
- 33:49Speaker 2: that's a deep cut, A deep cut for anybody under forty. Yeah.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Kids in the Hall was like the Canadian version of SNL.
- 34:00Speaker 3: I thought that was.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Too Gets in the Hall. It is a really great
- 34:07Speaker 1: movie called brain Gandy. That's like the funniest movie I've
- 34:11Speaker 1: ever seen.
- 34:11Speaker 3: But it was funnier than the t MoU Rise the
- 34:13Speaker 3: episode of Star Trek Extrange New Worlds.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Yes, quite a good funnier Okay.
- 34:18Speaker 3: It's good to know.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yeah, too much neon and glow sticks.
- 34:24Speaker 2: You know. I had a problem with this guy's character,
- 34:26Speaker 2: the the the guy who ran the resort or whatever. Yeah,
- 34:31Speaker 2: I don't know. Like I like the actor. I thought
- 34:34Speaker 2: he'd you know, but his character it seemed like when
- 34:37Speaker 2: you have a planet that makes you drunk and you're
- 34:40Speaker 2: not expecting some of these trash rooms and something I
- 34:44Speaker 2: figured when they came up to a trash room. I
- 34:47Speaker 2: half expected like little robots to come in and sort
- 34:49Speaker 2: of just take care of everything, or you know, they
- 34:51Speaker 2: would be used to this kind of thing. I don't
- 34:53Speaker 2: know what I was expecting. But they have so many
- 34:55Speaker 2: different people with so many different reactions to this whatever
- 34:58Speaker 2: it is. Yeah, I don't know. I just it felt
- 35:03Speaker 2: and okay, so uh Pike here did he At the
- 35:07Speaker 2: end of the episode, he's reading from his tattoos the
- 35:10Speaker 2: speech he's giving to the new mm hmm to this
- 35:14Speaker 2: this race. That felt vaguely Oh, I know what they
- 35:17Speaker 2: looked like. They looked like the bad guys from the Orville. Yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 2: that's where they look They looked like the krill from
- 35:23Speaker 2: the Orville.
- 35:23Speaker 1: There they are.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so he's he's sitting there talking to him and
- 35:27Speaker 2: he's reading his arm tattoos, you know, word for word?
- 35:31Speaker 2: Is that? So he was? He was he writing a
- 35:33Speaker 2: speech and and he was having the tattoo artists tattoo
- 35:36Speaker 2: the speech on his body. What was that? Thin way
- 35:40Speaker 2: more than the writers did.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, okay, I love the when when when Kirk
- 35:48Speaker 2: smack spot that was great. That's the thing.
- 35:53Speaker 1: There was like good moments, but you needed a reason
- 35:57Speaker 1: to put him together.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Right right, and the smack. I watched that smack over
- 36:02Speaker 2: and over again. I think that was a situation where
- 36:05Speaker 2: the actor to you know, the actor that plays Kirk told,
- 36:09Speaker 2: or the actor that plays Spot told the act of
- 36:11Speaker 2: the play spurt that Kirk, I want you to actually yes, Perk,
- 36:15Speaker 2: I want you to actually hit me.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Yeah, just do it.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh it was good. I did again. If you
- 36:25Speaker 2: take this scene where Rebecca Romaine is singing what total
- 36:28Speaker 2: eclips of the heart, yes, if you were to take
- 36:31Speaker 2: that just by itself, I thought it was cute her
- 36:34Speaker 2: singing totally clips of the heart in Klingon, I thought
- 36:37Speaker 2: it was cute. And there's been a lot of memes
- 36:39Speaker 2: online where they've had, like Wharf when he's singing kling
- 36:42Speaker 2: On Opera on the bridge of the Defiant singing this instead.
- 36:45Speaker 2: You know, there's been a lot of a lot of
- 36:49Speaker 2: fans that have put together a lot of video clips
- 36:50Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 36:51Speaker 3: So we need we need to have someone, uh, we
- 36:54Speaker 3: need to have someone go back and look at this
- 36:57Speaker 3: and translate it, because I'm curious if she sang it
- 37:01Speaker 3: as totally clips of the heart, were totally clips of
- 37:04Speaker 3: the hearts? Yes?
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yes, right, I'm not the most fashionable guy, but when
- 37:14Speaker 1: I saw this outfit, I'm like, why did they dress
- 37:16Speaker 1: her up like a loofah.
- 37:20Speaker 3: To xfoliate?
- 37:21Speaker 1: That's right, that's right.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, worst part tender ever right there?
- 37:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's there's worse things than imagine
- 37:35Speaker 2: Rebecca Romaine as a Lufah. Let's move on before I
- 37:40Speaker 2: get like like shirts. Yeah, I like that shirt.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Your shirt. Yeah, if you look at it, it's got
- 37:50Speaker 1: like a little mugatu in there too.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Oh so we saw a mugatu yea in this episode. Yeah,
- 37:57Speaker 3: and it's it's the same costume as they.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Used to he pulled it out of storage and yeah yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 2: It was also featured in uh a lord X.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Well yeah, but it was a cartoon. I'm saying it's
- 38:13Speaker 3: the actual.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Suspension of disbelief. Okay, all right, sorry.
- 38:18Speaker 1: If I like Chapel's angry bingo lady.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Hey, hey, hey, hey, shut your mouth. She can do
- 38:25Speaker 3: whatever she wants.
- 38:26Speaker 1: As I do you think there's better ways to use her?
- 38:34Speaker 2: Dad just say that. Yeah, don't make any words, right now.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Do you remember do you remember?
- 38:40Speaker 2: All right?
- 38:40Speaker 3: You suck good Fellas?
- 38:41Speaker 2: Right?
- 38:42Speaker 1: Yeah, all right?
- 38:43Speaker 3: You remember when rayle otis side piece was getting in
- 38:45Speaker 3: trouble at work. Yeah, and they paid her boss a
- 38:47Speaker 3: visit and they're choking the guy on his own desk.
- 38:51Speaker 3: She can do whatever she wants. That's what I'm chatteling here.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Okay, okay, unless you want me to drive to.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Idaho and choke you at your own desk, you leave
- 38:59Speaker 3: Christine alone. She can do it, all right.
- 39:01Speaker 1: I will leave you nurse Jap alone. All right. All right,
- 39:05Speaker 1: well we've got we've got more episodes coming.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So yeah, oh thank god.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Hopefully it gets better.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Only seven we only got seven more. They better, they
- 39:13Speaker 3: better better not mess it up.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well we got Chazz was waiting, so
- 39:20Speaker 1: we should probably get to listener feedback.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Okay, all right, listener feedback.
- 39:27Speaker 1: All right, uh yeah, that's right. If you want to
- 39:31Speaker 1: be a part of listener feedback, you can reach us
- 39:33Speaker 1: on social media's We're all over the place on all
- 39:37Speaker 1: the social media's Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, We're all
- 39:43Speaker 1: over there. We also have got our voicemail line. We
- 39:47Speaker 1: do have a voicemail, so let's play that and then
- 39:50Speaker 1: we'll get.
- 39:51Speaker 4: The chest bit strange world. Dude, where's my car? And
- 39:55Speaker 4: hangover combo. Oh fun episode. Surely ones are usually pretty good,
- 40:01Speaker 4: like the pairing with Scottie and Otegan and yeah, it
- 40:05Speaker 4: was fun. And I noticed that the episode order the
- 40:11Speaker 4: kind of switched the episodes around since we didn't see
- 40:13Speaker 4: no fallout from the previous episode, which was the horror one,
- 40:17Speaker 4: or maybe in the next episode you might mention the
- 40:22Speaker 4: effects of that in the following episode. If not, or
- 40:25Speaker 4: it's good.
- 40:26Speaker 2: There you go.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Well, I'm glad somebody enjoyed it.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Somebody enjoyed it.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:30Speaker 1: I saw the reviews online. It was very mixed. There
- 40:34Speaker 1: were some people who hated it, some people that loved it,
- 40:36Speaker 1: and there was a very small handful that were like,
- 40:38Speaker 1: it was fine. It was an episode, okay, yeah, Hey,
- 40:42Speaker 1: well dude, where's my hangover?
- 40:45Speaker 2: Yeah? There you go. Somebody put together I don't know
- 40:49Speaker 2: if it was actually the Paramount Production team or AI.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Somebody put together a video you spin me right out
- 40:57Speaker 2: with the whole you know. They they've got the whole
- 41:00Speaker 2: crew looking at the back of a digital camera and
- 41:02Speaker 2: they're like, what happened last night? And then as in
- 41:05Speaker 2: the episode, So that's cool.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Yeah, Now, if they got Mike Tyson and a tiger.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I'd have been on, but they didn't.
- 41:12Speaker 1: They should have got like a target instead of a tiger.
- 41:15Speaker 2: They should have Yeah, yeah, well I did you know
- 41:18Speaker 2: what I did see in the background. I did see
- 41:20Speaker 2: one of those uh.
- 41:21Speaker 3: The cocker spaniel with the with the unicorn with the horn.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Yeah, very alien looking dog. Yeah yeah, I didn't literally
- 41:29Speaker 2: not you know, a costume.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we got jazz was waiting. Let's let's
- 41:35Speaker 1: bring him on. He's back in the celestial temple.
- 41:38Speaker 2: There he is, there he is.
- 41:43Speaker 1: It's real Jazzman. What you think of the episode? No, no, no,
- 41:49Speaker 1: his mic is on the side of his head and
- 41:51Speaker 1: he needs a lower rate, I think.
- 41:53Speaker 2: No, No, you've got to flip down right here.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Flip down right here.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Now you're muted, you're real, flip down Your got nothing like?
- 42:04Speaker 2: Yeah other side? There you go? Is that you're yourself.
- 42:11Speaker 2: We're gonna get through this. We are. It's a good
- 42:14Speaker 2: pod right here, hold on, will let in the app. Okay,
- 42:18Speaker 2: there you go there. Yeah, wow, I told you we
- 42:23Speaker 2: were going to get through this weird Okay.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you've called before.
- 42:28Speaker 3: How do you do? Oh it's not very good. He's
- 42:34Speaker 3: clipping a lot.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you're clipping, you need to come out and come
- 42:36Speaker 1: back in. Okay, all right, so.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Hey everybody machine Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone saw a
- 42:45Speaker 3: Spider Man at this point. Yeah yeah, yeah, I spoiler
- 42:50Speaker 3: spoiler spoiler, spoiler, spoiler.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Spoilers spider Man. Yeah, I can't believe they killed off
- 42:55Speaker 2: Peter Parker.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they're really they're really leaning into the multiverse thing.
- 43:04Speaker 3: When Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton show up with a
- 43:07Speaker 3: bowl of spaghetti at the end, right, that that really
- 43:10Speaker 3: that really threw me. But you know, Batman and Flash
- 43:13Speaker 3: and Doomsday, it's gonna be awesome.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Wait, gonna be sweet.
- 43:17Speaker 1: All right, we got youas go back. Let's see if
- 43:19Speaker 1: it doesn't work. Guys, was he there with us?
- 43:22Speaker 5: Am I clipping?
- 43:23Speaker 1: No? No, you're good?
- 43:24Speaker 2: No good, all right, all right, something must have happened.
- 43:27Speaker 1: So weird it happens.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Interference from the from the warmhole.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Yeah, the celestial temples kind of it's kind of hard
- 43:35Speaker 5: to get Wi Fi in here, you.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Know, the elevated levels.
- 43:39Speaker 5: So yeah, well you know that let me back in
- 43:41Speaker 5: last week, so it's hard to get so yeah, talking
- 43:45Speaker 5: to a T and T ship, you know.
- 43:47Speaker 2: So what was your favorite part of the Spider Man,
- 43:49Speaker 2: Brand New Day, Spider Man, Brand New Day.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Well, the part where doctor Strange shows up and Race
- 43:58Speaker 5: is his memory, you know.
- 43:59Speaker 2: So that was kind of interesting.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I like when they the Silver Server.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yep, but like, how much gold?
- 44:07Speaker 1: How much money can we get for this aunt of over.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I like it at the end of the movie when
- 44:12Speaker 2: they pan out to space and they show Krypton.
- 44:15Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes, the Spider Man's riding a rocket, so
- 44:19Speaker 5: that's pretty cool.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Spoiler alert. I do have to say my favorite part
- 44:23Speaker 2: of the movie was at the end when he goes
- 44:27Speaker 2: and sees Ned at the at the store and decides
- 44:31Speaker 2: he's going to go up to him and introduce himself,
- 44:34Speaker 2: and they shake hands and they Ned just instinctually does
- 44:40Speaker 2: the handshake that they both learned each other, and he
- 44:44Speaker 2: just looks up. He blinks a couple of times and
- 44:46Speaker 2: looks up and he goes heater that.
- 44:48Speaker 3: I mean, what do you what do you think? What
- 44:51Speaker 3: do you think happened there? What's what's your theory?
- 44:53Speaker 2: I I think that the spell is not all powerful. Okay,
- 44:59Speaker 2: it's it's not you know, Doctor Strange is not omnipotent
- 45:02Speaker 2: with his powers. I think that in a combination with
- 45:06Speaker 2: the fact that Ned has shown that he's a little
- 45:08Speaker 2: bit the force. Okay, so yeah, I think it's a
- 45:13Speaker 2: combination of the two or one of the other.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I think it's Ned has a little bit of magic
- 45:16Speaker 1: in him.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think. I think at the end, when Jeane
- 45:23Speaker 3: was in touch with everyone's mind, and she had been,
- 45:28Speaker 3: she had been in Peter's mind. She couldn't control him,
- 45:31Speaker 3: but she had been in his head multiple times through
- 45:34Speaker 3: that movie. I don't think she broke the spell because
- 45:39Speaker 3: it's not a thing. She's she's a mutant. Her powers
- 45:42Speaker 3: are biological based. He's a magician. It's it's straight up magic.
- 45:48Speaker 3: The the the spell isn't isn't broken. They don't have
- 45:54Speaker 3: their memories back. They have a portion of Peter's memories
- 45:58Speaker 3: of them. Yeah, because of that connection. So Ned doesn't
- 46:03Speaker 3: remember Peter, he remembers that Peter remembers him. Yea, And
- 46:08Speaker 3: maybe that's enough for them to rekindle their friendship. But
- 46:13Speaker 3: it's not all it's not all there. And the same
- 46:16Speaker 3: thing with with MJ when she was frozen in that thing,
- 46:20Speaker 3: she was she was crying, and she was crying not
- 46:24Speaker 3: because she remembers Peter, but she's feeling how much he
- 46:27Speaker 3: loves her and how painful it was for him to
- 46:30Speaker 3: hear from her. Hey, guy, I don't know you and
- 46:32Speaker 3: I don't love you. Yeah, So that's that's what I
- 46:35Speaker 3: think was going on there. If we're ever going to
- 46:39Speaker 3: get a straight answer on it, I don't know. I
- 46:41Speaker 3: don't think we will, but that's how I thing.
- 46:44Speaker 1: And then they'll bring on either Venom or Toobin Maguire
- 46:47Speaker 1: or whatever that space thing was.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Death Star together.
- 46:52Speaker 1: That's right, that's right.
- 46:53Speaker 5: A thousand dollars one.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Yeah, what did you think of the episode?
- 46:59Speaker 5: Yeah, of this episode, the one that was shot in
- 47:04Speaker 5: the warehouse and they.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Just start, where's my car?
- 47:07Speaker 5: Yeah, dude, where's my car? You tell the bar was
- 47:10Speaker 5: the bar on the Enterprise that they just kind of.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Well, they did that last to the Haunted ship. They're like,
- 47:17Speaker 3: all right, we'll just spread some ship around the hallway
- 47:19Speaker 3: and lower the lighting level by fifty percent, put a
- 47:23Speaker 3: couple of scorch marks on the door, and there go
- 47:25Speaker 3: completely different ships.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Yeah, and they shot part of in the warehouse. You
- 47:30Speaker 5: could tell. It's definitely like that's just a warehouse they're in.
- 47:33Speaker 5: So it's like, Wow, the budget on the show that
- 47:37Speaker 5: they spent it on the first episode because they had dinosaurs,
- 47:40Speaker 5: and now the last two and kind of the bottle episodes.
- 47:43Speaker 2: I would say, yeah, you know.
- 47:46Speaker 5: They're trying to like, Okay, what do we have in
- 47:47Speaker 5: wardrobe here? Well, we got all these outfits. Let's put
- 47:51Speaker 5: everybody in these wacky outfits.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we have a mugatu. Yeah bring the mugatu.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Pull that out.
- 47:55Speaker 5: We got that from academy because the kid was running
- 47:57Speaker 5: around with that in the academy the last season. And
- 48:00Speaker 5: plus they shot both of these together. And the funny
- 48:03Speaker 5: thing is, I think next season is strange New World.
- 48:05Speaker 5: It's only six out of Oh yeah, it's gonna be.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Our percentage is even lower now, Dan, Yeah to getting
- 48:11Speaker 5: to work.
- 48:12Speaker 3: You know, at what point, at what point is it
- 48:14Speaker 3: not a season? It's a mini series?
- 48:17Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, Well, I mean the Sherlock Show, the
- 48:23Speaker 1: one that we got better to come a batch from.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Those seasons were three episodes, but each episode was ninety minutes,
- 48:29Speaker 1: so it was like a mini movie.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:31Speaker 5: Well, Sherlock was awesome because you could make that kind
- 48:34Speaker 5: of mini movie back then.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you had the books.
- 48:37Speaker 5: To follow and everything, and each of them was kind
- 48:40Speaker 5: of based off of one of his stories.
- 48:43Speaker 3: So well, if it's six episodes like that, I hope
- 48:48Speaker 3: to god, Oh we did.
- 48:52Speaker 1: I hope to god.
- 48:53Speaker 5: He was about to give him some great knowledge here.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Kurtzman just cut him off at the time.
- 49:00Speaker 5: You had to cure for cancer right there, And he's
- 49:02Speaker 5: gonna say it, that's.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Right, Kursman, like in a chair with a bald cat
- 49:08Speaker 2: is cat and he's like, just cut the feed, Cut
- 49:10Speaker 2: the feed.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Stream Yard's awful lately.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 49:16Speaker 3: No, I'm just hopeful that it's it's six episodes because
- 49:19Speaker 3: they said, Okay, this is the story we need to tell. Yeah,
- 49:22Speaker 3: let's tell this story and that's it. We don't need
- 49:26Speaker 3: a horror episode. We don't need a puppet episode, we
- 49:29Speaker 3: don't need a dude, where's my car episode. We're telling
- 49:31Speaker 3: this story to finish this larger story off. Let's get
- 49:35Speaker 3: to work.
- 49:36Speaker 2: So you're saying they need a strange New World episode?
- 49:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, hopefully, man, I would love exploring in the
- 49:44Speaker 1: Exploring show.
- 49:45Speaker 5: What's your thoughts on Captain Pike?
- 49:49Speaker 2: Is he a good captain?
- 49:50Speaker 5: Like, how would you rank him among the other cats.
- 49:52Speaker 2: I wanted to say he was a good captain, but
- 49:53Speaker 2: I'm just reading some of a plot hole from IMDb,
- 49:56Speaker 2: and it makes perfect sense. Before voluntarily becoming dysfunction inebriated,
- 50:00Speaker 2: the captain would have delegated command to a sober officer
- 50:03Speaker 2: who would not have relinquished it until the captain had recovered. Yes, yeah,
- 50:08Speaker 2: that's falls somewhere between no ship no duh.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Yeah yeah. I mean the idea that the whole the
- 50:13Speaker 3: high idea that the whole senior staff went on this
- 50:17Speaker 3: thing just just doesn't make sense because let's say, okay,
- 50:21Speaker 3: let's say he does come back to the ship, he
- 50:23Speaker 3: tries to take command again, and the third officer or
- 50:27Speaker 3: whoever who he left in charge of the ship tells him, no, sir,
- 50:30Speaker 3: I can't. You're not you're not fit for duty. And
- 50:34Speaker 3: there's a power struggle there. Who would solve that power
- 50:37Speaker 3: struggle the chief medical officer, but he's shift faced over there.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Y yeah. Yeah.
- 50:47Speaker 5: The only one that was a ship face was Pelly,
- 50:50Speaker 5: who wasn't in the episode, so you could have used Pelly.
- 50:53Speaker 2: You know, I noticed that after the episode was done
- 50:56Speaker 2: she was not in the episode. Was she on the enterprise?
- 50:58Speaker 2: If anybody I was expecting Once I saw the episode
- 51:02Speaker 2: and it was done, and then I'm like, oh, wait,
- 51:03Speaker 2: where was she? She would have been perfect to go
- 51:06Speaker 2: down to the planet and be like, nothing happens, Like
- 51:08Speaker 2: I'm still sober. Yeah, I've done so many drugs over
- 51:13Speaker 2: so many centuries that this, you know, yeah, it doesn't
- 51:16Speaker 2: phase her.
- 51:17Speaker 1: For just her species aren't affected by those guys. You know,
- 51:21Speaker 1: it did make sense to me that Spock would go
- 51:24Speaker 1: down voluntarily and get you know, drunk or whatever. They
- 51:28Speaker 1: we're saying, Yeah, why not just he took something and
- 51:32Speaker 1: so he's a sober one or yeah, something I don't
- 51:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you try to break it down.
- 51:43Speaker 3: Do we have a description of what next week?
- 51:48Speaker 1: I was looking for one but I could not find.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Yeah. So, uh Una gets mistaken for a resistance leader
- 51:58Speaker 2: and is drawn into a struggle against take cling on occupation. Okay, oh,
- 52:03Speaker 2: it's the episode that we described earlier in the show.
- 52:10Speaker 1: And then but not as good, not as good looks
- 52:14Speaker 1: it looks like episode five is the puppet episode because
- 52:17Speaker 1: it's called Level five Transporter accidents.
- 52:20Speaker 3: God, so yeah, there's thirty of the show.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it is what it is.
- 52:30Speaker 5: I'm not getting any more after this, so it's on
- 52:33Speaker 5: hiatus or however.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Long, well, we still got an academy that.
- 52:41Speaker 5: You have academy, and then well, I don't know what
- 52:43Speaker 5: they're gonna do with the merger with you know, Warner Brothers,
- 52:46Speaker 5: because that's got everything tied up wise.
- 52:49Speaker 2: So yeah, three books like the Star Trek episode episode seven,
- 52:53Speaker 2: the Temporal an The temporal anomaly traps the crew inside
- 52:58Speaker 2: a soap opera reality.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Oh come on, what come on? So that's the musical
- 53:06Speaker 3: episode again, except that it's not. It's not a musical,
- 53:10Speaker 3: it's soap opera. So they're gonna, you're gonna they're gonna
- 53:13Speaker 3: smear some Vasilian on the lens to give it that
- 53:17Speaker 3: diffused uh diffused love.
- 53:20Speaker 2: And you're gonna love episode nine. Episode nine is called
- 53:25Speaker 2: One You Left on a Time. It enters a genuine
- 53:30Speaker 2: fantasy world where the fairy tale becomes a personal test
- 53:33Speaker 2: of courage control. Didn't we already do that episode? We
- 53:36Speaker 2: did it? Didn't we already we did?
- 53:38Speaker 1: We did one like.
- 53:39Speaker 5: That second or third or maybe the first season they
- 53:42Speaker 5: did that.
- 53:42Speaker 2: It seemed like episode ten looks amazing. A temporal crisis
- 53:45Speaker 2: brings Pike's Enterprise face to face with future Kurk.
