- 2:33It's been a crazy, crazy weekend.
- 2:36A lot of snow here in Long Island, New York and New York to
- 2:39tri-state over there in New England as they're heading off
- 2:43to the Super Bowl. If you're a New England fan, I
- 2:45feel well, I feel for all the New York fans have to seeing the
- 2:49New England, yes, the New England Patriots colors on the
- 2:53Empire State Building yesterday or yesterday after moving
- 2:56forward to another Super Bowl. And it's it hasn't been since
- 3:012018. We'll get into that a little bit
- 3:03in a little while actually. So it's crazy.
- 3:06I am not a person that's very, very happy today because I have
- 3:11to see two teams, one that had my quarterback, a guy that was
- 3:16drafted by the New York Jets in the 3rd as the third pick in the
- 3:20first round, Sam Darnold, move on finally to a Super Bowl.
- 3:25A guy that I expected to be a star in this league.
- 3:29The Jets didn't want to develop them.
- 3:30They sent them off to Carolina and I'll get into that.
- 3:33I'm not happy about that. And the New England Patriots,
- 3:36the hand Free Patriots, as we all say, Robert Kraft knows how
- 3:42to shake them, and he knows how to bake them.
- 3:44It was a snowy defensive battle in the AFC championship game as
- 3:49the New England Patriots outlasted the Denver Broncos
- 3:526:50 to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2019.
- 3:57It was the second lowest scoring AFC championship game in NFL
- 4:01history. The Patriots had just 206 total
- 4:04yards in the game to the Broncos having just 181 yards and both
- 4:09teams averaged just over 3 yards per play.
- 4:13The Broncos defense had five sacks to the Patriots 3 sacks,
- 4:18but the Patriots defense forced 2 turnovers including the game
- 4:22ceiling interception by superstar cornerback Christian
- 4:27Gonzalez. The snow and the wind picked up
- 4:31after the second-half and both kickers also missed 2 field
- 4:35goals each as a result. The Patriots running game was
- 4:40the main difference as Mr. Ramandre Stevenson rush in
- 4:46rushed for 71 yards with quarterback Drake May doing most
- 4:50of his best work with his legs rushing for 65 yards.
- 4:55Meanwhile, the Broncos RJ Harvey had just 37 yards.
- 5:00JK Dobbits did not play and and and obviously was not activated
- 5:05from IR. The Patriots became the became
- 5:08the first team to ever finish nine and O on the road in a
- 5:12single season and became the first team to advance to a Super
- 5:16Bowl a year after losing 13 games.
- 5:21All right, so if you're a Patriot fan, you should be very
- 5:24excited. You should be very happy.
- 5:26If you're a Jet fan, a Giant fan or an any fan, you shouldn't and
- 5:30you wouldn't be happy that the Patriots are moving on to the
- 5:34Super Bowl. There's a lot to look at this
- 5:37game and wonder what happened. And I I blame Sean Payton for
- 5:41this. Sean Payton made a lot of
- 5:43mistakes, a lot of mistakes, some mistakes that probably in
- 5:47the offseason it's going to come back to him.
- 5:49He's going to watch film and he's going to wonder why he
- 5:51didn't do that. He knew that there was snow
- 5:53coming. He didn't know it was going to
- 5:54be as bad of a Blizzard that was coming over there in Denver.
- 5:58I'm I'm sure of it. But here's the facts.
- 6:01You are a big time sports team and you have guys upstairs.
- 6:07You're going to tell me you don't have a weather guy looking
- 6:09at the weather and seeing how it's going to hit them and the
- 6:11satellites? Because in the second quarter
- 6:15they had a chance to put their score up 10 to nothing.
- 6:20They had a chance to kick a field goal.
- 6:22I think it was in the second quarter, right?
- 6:23It was in the second. Goal.
- 6:24They missed the field goal in the second.
- 6:25They missed 1 field goal in the third.
- 6:26Yeah. So in the second quarter, no,
- 6:28I'm not talking about missing. In the second quarter, they had
- 6:30a chance to kick a field goal and he decided to go for.
- 6:32It that was in the second quarter.
- 6:34And I remember because a lot of people right before halftime, a
- 6:39lot of people were questioning it.
- 6:41And, and the reason why is, is because I know he believed in
- 6:45Stidham. And I, I heard before the game
- 6:47that Stidham looked good in the first.
- 6:49I, I think the second time a second time up a second time
- 6:53optional when he got a chance to get the ball down the field, he
- 6:56got the ball to who, who scored the touchdown, Sutton.
- 7:00But I think it was Mims junior that caught the ball 40
- 7:03something yards and he got them to the 10 yard line or 12 yard
- 7:07line if I'm not mistaken. And then he got it.
- 7:09He got the ball of Sutton, but there was a lot of questions
- 7:13with the play calling throughout the game.
- 7:15And I'm not saying Vrabel was the genius because Vrabel called
- 7:19a good game. There's no question that he did,
- 7:21but it it really bowled well for him going into the second-half
- 7:25of the game, especially with the wind turned on their backs.
- 7:29Because in the fourth quarter it worked on the Broncos side.
- 7:33But again, I thought it was so bad out.
- 7:36No matter if they kick the ball on the 15 or 20 yard line, if
- 7:40they're kicking the ball any more than 30 or more yards, it's
- 7:43going to be hard to put it through the hashes.
- 7:47And I thought that a lot of thought, a lot of thought was is
- 7:51they were going to use their running game and they did.
- 7:55But I obviously when they fell behind, they started trusting
- 7:58instead of throwing the ball in the second-half, instead of made
- 8:00a lot of mistakes. Stidham is not Bonex, but Bonex
- 8:05is still a young kid. He had a great season.
- 8:07I'm not attacking Bonex and his accomplishments.
- 8:09He's been a sensational quarterback since he's coming to
- 8:11the league. He's been in the league for what
- 8:13now two years, Three years? And he's had the opportunity to
- 8:16really develop as a young quarterback under Sean Payton.
- 8:20Stidham hasn't played a game in years.
- 8:24He hasn't played a snap in years.
- 8:27He's played four NFL. Games.
- 8:29Not a game of this magnitude though either.
- 8:31Yeah, well, I I didn't get to that yet.
- 8:33But he hasn't played a game in a significant amount of time.
- 8:39And to get the call to me is humbling.
- 8:43And you know that understanding the position in the quarterback
- 8:46position, AFC title game, You want to get your team to the
- 8:49Super Bowl. You want to be the savior.
- 8:51You saw his wife when he scored his first touchdown of the game.
- 8:54She was jumping and everybody was cheering because it was the
- 8:56first, first quarter and it looked like they were going to
- 8:59put a lot of points on the board.
- 9:02But after that, as the snow started to accumulate, there was
- 9:07a lot of thoughts on how they were going to run and, and play
- 9:12position football and use their wide receivers, use them in
- 9:16slants. And the one thing I could say
- 9:19about the New England Patriots is their defense is as good as
- 9:24any defense in the NFL, especially they're they're
- 9:27they're rushing defense. I mean, I'm sorry, they're
- 9:29running game defense. They they're the best running
- 9:32stop stopping team in the NFL and and their pass rush I think
- 9:38is ranked in the top ten, top 12 in all of the NFL.
- 9:41And that goes you have to give a lot of a lot of cheer to of
- 9:44Rabel. Mike Rabel is a great defensive
- 9:46mind, great defensive coordinator.
- 9:48He comes from the Bill Belichick era.
- 9:50Bill Belichick coached him. He was a linebacker.
- 9:52He played some offense over there.
- 9:54And that's why it was very interesting how they were using
- 9:56a lot of defensive lineman in the offensive style of game.
- 9:59And it was interesting. It was cat and mouse Rabel.
- 10:02Mike Rabel has been very he's been an accomplished coach.
- 10:05He's been a coach of the year before and Sean Payne, who's one
- 10:08of the best offensive minds the NFL has ever seen, and you would
- 10:12have thought, hey, Drake May is the better quarterback.
- 10:14Drake May is going to have a sensational game.
- 10:16Drake May has not looked good in three weeks.
- 10:19I'm sorry, all you Drake May fans, And I'm not saying Drake
- 10:22May is not an accomplished quarterback and he's not going
- 10:25to be a star quarterback in this league.
- 10:27He's proven to be a good quarterback.
- 10:30But to even put him in the same conversation as a Matthew
- 10:33Stafford or a Josh Allen or a Lamar Jackson or a Patrick
- 10:38Mahomes, that's ridiculous. Because in the last three weeks
- 10:41against good, talented teams, teams that are elite teams in
- 10:45the AFC, he hasn't looked good. And that to me, tells a lot
- 10:50about a player. I understand they won nine
- 10:53games, consistent consecutively away.
- 10:55Great. Who did they beat?
- 10:58Who did the Patriots beat? But you said the same thing in a
- 11:01in our group chat. And do you think his his numbers
- 11:06were inflated too because of what his schedule was?
- 11:11I think obviously, I mean they had the 5th easiest schedule in
- 11:14NFL history. Think about that.
- 11:16In all the years of the NFL, this is one of the easiest
- 11:19schedules any quarterback had to go through in a season.
- 11:23And that to me says a lot about the New England Patriots season.
- 11:26Now that doesn't. Mean does that show you how good
- 11:29Drake May is or? Not no, it shows you that to me
- 11:33he's a good quarterback. But to say that he's an elite
- 11:36quarterback already and that he's an MVP candidate, No,
- 11:40because obviously you play who's ever on your schedule.
- 11:42I know a lot of people are going to attack this take.
- 11:44Well, it was on his schedule. He had to play The Jets twice.
- 11:47He had to play the Miami Dolphins twice.
- 11:49He had to play this team once and and Jaguars and all these
- 11:52crappy at the time when he played the Jaguars.
- 11:55The Jaguars are not playing good football.
- 11:57The Jaguars didn't transition their season until the
- 12:00second-half of the season. The Jaguars were a bad team.
- 12:03It was when when the Gremlin went down was when everything
- 12:06transformed for them in Week 10, Week 11.
- 12:08Just the spark they needed. Yeah, probably.
- 12:11I mean, honestly, when you look at the the tale of two tapes, it
- 12:16really was a third string quarterback that hasn't played a
- 12:18big game in his career against a quarterback that also hasn't
- 12:23played a big game in his career. But guess what?
- 12:26When you're looking and trying to compare that quarterback to
- 12:29this quarterback, here's there's no comparison.
- 12:32Drake May is the elite quarterback as they claimed he
- 12:35was. And here's the thing, I hate
- 12:37analysts and I and I wasn't Tom Brady.
- 12:39Thank God it wasn't Tom Brady. I don't know.
- 12:41And I heard there was some of these and analysts that were
- 12:45calling the game saying that Tom Brady says that Drake May is so
- 12:48much like him. How do you know that Drake May's
- 12:50been elite for two years? What do you know about Drake?
- 12:53Drake May Tom, unless you're hanging out with them, you're
- 12:57eating some, you know, tea and crumpets with them.
- 12:59I don't know what you do over there if you hang out in New
- 13:01England and Boston still, I know he's traveling every single
- 13:05week. He's doing calls every single
- 13:07week. He works with the Raiders.
- 13:08So I'm I doubt he's on the phone.
- 13:10What? Robert Kraft maybe, but maybe
- 13:13he's hanging out with Bill Belichick and they're talking
- 13:15about how how Drake May is equal to him or something like him.
- 13:19Because to me, Drake May strengths is totally different
- 13:24from Tom Brady's. Tom Brady was not a mobile
- 13:27quarterback, Drake May is. Drake May has speed, Tom Brady
- 13:32couldn't run and that's the difference.
- 13:35Drake May's dangerous when he gets room to move and use the
- 13:40pocket to use his legs. And that's what you saw on
- 13:44Sunday. Drake May could not throw the
- 13:46ball. He's not been as accurate.
- 13:48And you saw it even early in the game when the snow wasn't coming
- 13:51down. He wasn't accurate.
- 13:53He hasn't been accurate really throughout the playoffs and I
- 13:57told everybody that once he plays it gets elite defensive
- 14:00teams, it's going to be a problem.
- 14:02He really didn't really have that all season long.
- 14:05Yes, it's a great accomplishment what the what the Patriots have
- 14:09done in breaking records. Mike Rabel, I wouldn't say he
- 14:12was shocked, but he kind of looked like that after they won
- 14:16and they beat, they knocked off the Broncos after they stopped
- 14:19him in the interception by Gonzalez and he knew it was
- 14:22over. He was, he was dancing on the
- 14:24sidelines. He really thought that Stidham
- 14:26was going to get the ball down the field.
- 14:28And how about that? How about the I I?
- 14:30Was it a punt, A punt block? What was it?
- 14:33A muff. Punt.
- 14:33A muff. Punt, which I believe, no
- 14:36actually it wasn't the muff punt that cost them the touchdown, it
- 14:40was Stidham throwing a back. What was that?
- 14:42Back across lateral? What was it?
- 14:44Oh, you're right. Yeah, it was that weird fumble,
- 14:46like read option play or whatever.
- 14:48It was AII, whatever it was, but he tried to throw the ball away
- 14:54and he, he, he, he tried to get it over with the overhand and he
- 14:58threw it backwards. It was a back row, backwards
- 15:00lateral. And obviously it was it, it was
- 15:04called intentional grounding. And then the referees were
- 15:09talking and of course who got the call, The Patriots, they
- 15:12always get the call. And I don't know if anybody
- 15:14understands this, but that changed the game.
- 15:18That one play changed the whole perception of the game, that one
- 15:24stupid play. Now, I'm not saying instead of I
- 15:26thought he threw his hands were over.
- 15:29I didn't. It didn't look like it was a
- 15:31back backwards lateral. I didn't look like it, but you
- 15:34could call it either way. But I knew as soon as the
- 15:37referees got a chance to stand with each other, they were going
- 15:40to call it on the Patriots side. As soon as that happened on the
- 15:4310 yard line or 12 yard line, I knew the Patriots were going to
- 15:46drive the ball in. And as soon as they did, I knew
- 15:48that the game was over because I was reading as the game was
- 15:54going through from 1/4 to another that the snow was going
- 15:57to get worse and worse and worse.
- 15:59And they showed it. The analysts showed from from
- 16:03the first quarter 3 minutes in to the foot, the second quarter
- 16:06with 5 minutes in to the foot, third quarter with eight minutes
- 16:10in. They showed you from 1/4 to
- 16:12another how bad the the ground was getting and the
- 16:16groundskeeper had the the blowers.
- 16:18They were trying to you couldn't even spot where the ball was
- 16:20when they were kicking the ball. The punt return, the punt
- 16:23kickers were kicking it. You couldn't even spot it.
- 16:25That's how bad the field was. And Brittany was telling me he
- 16:29said they should call the game and they're not.
- 16:31I said they're professional football players and the only
- 16:33time they call the game and they hold up a game as if there's
- 16:36lightning, there's no way they're calling this game.
- 16:38There's no way. And I know the Patriots knew
- 16:41that as soon as the second quarter came around and they
- 16:43could have that lead, they were going to hold on to it because
- 16:47the the second-half was just absolutely, absolutely horrible
- 16:50to watch. It was horrible.
- 16:52Punter kickers were missing. Punters couldn't get the ball
- 16:55down the field. It was so bad to watch.
- 16:58I understand the snow was bad. I understand that the grounds
- 17:01keeping wasn't really as good as I bet you the Broncos thought it
- 17:06was going to be with the blowers on the ground.
- 17:08I don't think that the Broncos really believed that the ground
- 17:10was going to be as bad as it was.
- 17:13But here's the facts. Romandre Stevenson was probably
- 17:17the best running back, was probably the best player on the
- 17:20field the whole day. And a lot of people, a lot of
- 17:23Patriots fans told me, why did I draft Romandre Stevenson in my
- 17:28drafts? I in two of my drafts, which by
- 17:31the way, I won at two out of the three and both teams I had
- 17:34Romandre Stevenson. Was he great this year?
- 17:37He wasn't great, but I need a Romandre Stevenson in certain
- 17:40weeks. He gave me a significant portion
- 17:43of points. This guy could either go by the
- 17:46bulk or he could be really, really bad.
- 17:48He's a fumble guy. But I believe that in the
- 17:52second-half of the season, especially the last eight games
- 17:54of the season, he didn't fumble the ball once.
- 17:57And he was so impressive that in the 3rd and late in the third
- 18:02quarter, going into the fourth quarter, they just kept giving
- 18:05the rock to Romandre Stevenson. He was getting yard after yard.
- 18:08I know 71 yards doesn't really stand out, but in a game like
- 18:11that, it stood up a lot because it was not a lot of yards.
- 18:15There was not a lot of offense, so the offense had to come
- 18:18somewhere and it came from Romanje Stevenson.
- 18:22That's what really stood out to me.
- 18:23Christian Gonzalez is a beast. He also got beat by Sutton.
- 18:29He he was a guy that was defending Sutton when he caught
- 18:31that ball. So he didn't look good in the
- 18:35first half, but in the second-half, I obviously there's
- 18:39no definitely obviously bolded well for for both teams to, you
- 18:42know, defensively Gonzalez when he needed to make a play and
- 18:46when he needs to make a play. This guy is as good as any
- 18:48corner in the NFL. And that goes back to what I
- 18:51said last week. A lot of teams passed up on this
- 18:54kid for some reason. He fell to what, number 17 #17
- 18:59it was Bill Belichick's last pick.
- 19:01And and it's a say, hurrah, say Sarah to the Patriots because he
- 19:06gave them a gift that is going to be there for the next 10
- 19:09years. This guy is going to be, he's as
- 19:11good as Patrick certain. He's as good as any quarterback
- 19:14that we can compare him to Stingley.
- 19:17This guy might win defensive player of the year one way or
- 19:20another in the next few years. That's how good he is.
- 19:24But it was horrible quarterback play, play calling horrible.
- 19:27And, and, and honestly, Drake made did not look good.
- 19:30Stidham did not look good, which was expected, by the way.
- 19:34And, and to me, if Drake made plays like this in a Super Bowl,
- 19:38Oh my God, the Seahawks are can eat them up alive.
- 19:42They got to put up points. Seattle is a A-Team that's going
- 19:45to put up a lot of points. They're a great defensive team.
- 19:47They're going to be able to put pressure on him through the
- 19:49gaps. I think this might be one of
- 19:52those Super Bowl games as we remember the Rams and the
- 19:56Patriots. What a quinky dink in 2018 where
- 20:00the Rams were the best offensive team, the Patriots were the best
- 20:03defensive team and the Patriots winded up beating him 13 to 3.
- 20:07I don't even think it's going to be that close and I'll get into
- 20:10the Seattle game and how fun the Seattle game was.
- 20:12It went back and forth, couple of mistakes cost.
- 20:15I think the Rams a chance to move on to the Super Bowl.
- 20:18I will get into that. But I thought the the game, the
- 20:21game changing play that changed. The outcome of this game,
- 20:25everybody's saying the field goal and Sean Payton should have
- 20:28went for that field goal. It definitely affected the game.
- 20:30If he kicked that, it goes to overtime.
- 20:32The thing that changed the game was the back.
- 20:36Back. What do they call that?
- 20:37A back lateral. Yeah, a lot of backwards pass
- 20:40that. Whatever they call that play,
- 20:42which they called it, and into the Patriots favor, that changed
- 20:46the game. As soon as the Patriots scored
- 20:47there, the game was over. Yeah, two things I think define
- 20:50it for me. You mentioned Romandre
- 20:51Stevenson, that was one. Even though his numbers are not
- 20:53eye popping, he averaged 2.8 yards of carry.
- 20:56His second efforts on a lot of those runs were very important
- 20:59to wear out that Broncos interior defensive line and even
- 21:02the linebackers at the second level out.
- 21:03Singleton was not playing 100% as it was and then even their
- 21:06safety play with Hofunga, so they had to move him around just
- 21:09to make sure that he could stop the outside run.
- 21:10But they couldn't stop the inside run.
- 21:12And again, I'll give the Patriots offensive line some
- 21:14credit too. They were, I thought, outmatched
- 21:15on Tal, on talent on paper. That's why I thought the Broncos
- 21:18this game was as ugly as I thought.
- 21:20So I thought that kind of thing benefited the Broncos to win the
- 21:22game. But the Patriots offensive line
- 21:23still held their own in run blocking at times.
- 21:26But I thought it was really Romandre Stevenson in the second
- 21:29effort. And then like you said, their
- 21:30pass rush against the Broncos offensive line that was top five
- 21:33in the NFL this year and they were number one in a lot of
- 21:35metrics, actually got a lot of good pressure.
- 21:37Granted, Jared Siddons on his experience of a quarterback as
- 21:40his first start since 2023 with the Broncos.
- 21:42He was playing when Russell Wilson was benched
- 21:45controversially with that whole injury clause contract.
- 21:48And I think he beat some good teams in that stretch.
- 21:50But he wasn't. He hadn't played in two years
- 21:52and he's playing in an AFC championship game in the snow,
- 21:55in swirling snow conditions. Like the wind was really bad
- 21:59even in the first half before the snow really picked up.
- 22:01So that kind of thing is really hard for a quarterback to be
- 22:03able to throw in those kind of conditions.
- 22:04And like you said early in the game, he had that great throw to
- 22:07Mims. He had that touchdown a sudden,
- 22:08which looked very sharp, but didn't have any other sharp
- 22:11throws after that. But the offensive line I think
- 22:13for the Broncos kind of didn't hold their own the way they
- 22:16should. The defense I think did well,
- 22:17obviously on the on the pressure centric.
- 22:19But I think the Patriots, considering their disadvantage
- 22:22in the trenches, I thought they had still held their own and.
- 22:24Not it's all about rhythm. It's all about rhythm when it
- 22:27comes to the quarterback play. And in the first quarter, I
- 22:31thought Stidham had great rhythm, but for some reason Sean
- 22:34Payton is one of the, the, the God screens when it comes to the
- 22:39guy that calls the plays and gets his quarterback in the good
- 22:42position. He, I, I don't know what
- 22:44happened. I I really don't because Stidham
- 22:48is not a star quarterback. He's not a number one.
- 22:50He's not really a #2 on any other roster.
- 22:53I know the Patriots loved him and, and they wanted to bring
- 22:56him. I heard during the game that the
- 22:58Patriots made an offer to him last season and the Broncos
- 23:02offered him more. So he stayed with the Broncos.
- 23:04He's been with the Broncos for three years.
- 23:07My thought was is that Sean Payton in the second-half was
- 23:11going to get Stidham in the position, in a position where he
- 23:14is going to make valuable, important plays, short passes,
- 23:18get him back, you know, that rhythm so he can start putting
- 23:22the ball down the field. I just never saw it.
- 23:24I didn't see it. I know there's no, I know that's
- 23:26an excuse. And and like I said, my word,
- 23:28God scream, the God scream here was is that Peyton is a God and
- 23:33he's screaming on the sidelines trying to make sure that his his
- 23:36guys are protecting him. And it's just they weren't.
- 23:40He was sacked a couple of times where I thought this is one of
- 23:43the it's not the best offensive line and P fit PFF all season
- 23:47long. You would have thought that they
- 23:48were going to use an extra offensive lineman or use an
- 23:51extra tight end to protect him. So we gave him a little bit more
- 23:53time. They just couldn't.
- 23:55And that front seven of the Patriots put a lot of pressure
- 23:58on pressure on him in the second-half because they knew
- 24:00that the snow was going to affect the his game.
- 24:02They knew that the win was going to affect his game, and it did.
- 24:05Yeah, and you look at a coach too, that I know he's with the
- 24:08with the Broncos now three years.
- 24:09But a coach that's coached all of his other previous playoff
- 24:12games besides the one last year with the Saints, a Dome team, a
- 24:16southern team and even a lot of the opponents they faced, a lot
- 24:18of them besides the Eagles, I think we're all warm weather
- 24:21teams too. The Rams who they played, the
- 24:23Cowboys, the all the all these teams, the Vikings that they
- 24:25played, these are all Dome teams.
- 24:27So he wasn't even used to that kind of thing.
- 24:29You mentioned him not kind of preparing the weather as much as
- 24:31you would think for or a guy that's an experienced coach.
- 24:33And I think that affected them definitely.
- 24:36And the other thing too is I think getting away from what he
- 24:39does best. A lot of those second running
- 24:40backs, the tight ends were not involved that Evan Angerman of
- 24:43that one nice catch in the first or second quarter and then he
- 24:45never used him after. That I'm blaming Sean Payton
- 24:47for. This loss, I don't, I don't like
- 24:49a lot of the usage of those other guys.
- 24:51And when Harvey was struggling like go to Jillian McLaughlin,
- 24:54go to some of these other running backs, either or you use
- 24:57MIPS. He had too much trust in Harvey
- 25:00all game long. And Harvey was not getting
- 25:02enough yardage. He was forcing it up the middle.
- 25:05And even in the second-half when he couldn't run, if you know
- 25:08Harvey hasn't been efficient, you have two other running backs
- 25:11that can run the ball. And that's why I thought going
- 25:13into the game, if JK Dobbins plays, maybe the maybe the game
- 25:17and the score is a little bit different.
- 25:18JK Dobbins it could do so many other things that I believe
- 25:22Harvey cannot do it. And Harvey's a rookie.
- 25:24He's a young player and you put a lot of pressure on him.
- 25:26And Sean Payton should have to, should know, understanding the,
- 25:30the, the position as a quarterback and even some of the
- 25:34rookies that he has in the game that they're going to make
- 25:36mistakes and, and made valuable, important mistakes in the game,
- 25:40which cost him the game. I I blame this loss for the
- 25:43Broncos because they should have won this game even with Jarrett
- 25:45Stidham. They should have won this game
- 25:47if it wasn't for Sean Payton. Sean Payton is the reason why
- 25:50the Broncos are not moving on to.
- 25:52Super Bowl 60, and you mentioned Gonzales, too.
- 25:54Like they have all three. Two other good corners, too, and
- 25:56Marcus Jones in the slot. And Carlton Davis, who played
- 25:58very well towards the end of the season, too.
- 26:00And you want to attack linebackers and safeties if you
- 26:03want to beat the Patriots, and they just didn't do that.
- 26:04Get fish. Should have at least been in
- 26:06overtime. If they kick the field goal when
- 26:08they're on the 6 yard line, it's you can't get a lot of points in
- 26:13the snow and the game started out perfect for Sean Payton and
- 26:17the Broncos. We talked about it last week.
- 26:19What do they have to do? They have to get up early and
- 26:22then they have to wear them down with the run.
- 26:24But they can't have is a quarterback for pretending he's
- 26:27playing Madden, running backwards 30 yards trying to do
- 26:31something that's too much and then can't get a grip on the
- 26:34ball and does this fumble backwards lateral.
- 26:37And then the whole strategy is gone.
- 26:39And once it was tied, now they have to take chances with a
- 26:42quarterback that, look, Drake May is going to finish second
- 26:46probably in the MVP this year. He didn't even get 100 yards
- 26:49passing in this game because of the elements that they had to
- 26:52play in. So what was Jared Stidham going
- 26:54to do? You know what I mean?
- 26:56So they really had no margin for error, like, at all.
- 27:01It kind of, it kind of reminded me of Speedy of those Giants
- 27:03teams a couple of years ago when they just, you know, you had to
- 27:07somehow get a lead and then hang on for dear life and hope the
- 27:12other team would make more mistakes.
- 27:13That's the only way the Giants won games.
- 27:15For a couple of years. It felt like that's what the
- 27:17Broncos had to do, and they hadn't agree.
- 27:19I mean, who's better than Sean Payton at orchestrating an
- 27:22opening drive to get a touchdown?
- 27:24What a great drive that was with a big shot to Mims and then the
- 27:28play that you've seen them do a million times, having sudden get
- 27:31inside of get like a little rub and getting to the back corner
- 27:34of the end zone. Just a beautiful play and beat
- 27:37Gonzales. That's a couple years ago.
- 27:38He beat Gonzales, yeah. It's not even about beating him
- 27:41like the first drive. They're going to do something
- 27:44where like it's confusing how to cover it.
- 27:46You know, until you see it the first time.
- 27:48So every time you call a play the first time in the game, they
- 27:51haven't seen it that game, so it's more likely you're going to
- 27:54get it done. That's why you see teams that
- 27:56maybe don't have a good offense score on that first drive.
- 27:59Brian Dabel had a lot of first drives that scored and a lot of
- 28:02games where they never scored again after.
- 28:04That except for the one year where the Giants didn't score a
- 28:06first quarter touchdown until like Week 10, I think his second
- 28:09year in the league or something. Yeah, well, yeah, I mean, kind
- 28:11of a come down to earth. Why do you always bring the
- 28:14Giants? Why are we talking about?
- 28:16Oh, it's. Because because I'm a Giants fan
- 28:17and I'm played by having. Definitely shows, ladies and
- 28:19gentlemen. Every time he wants to compare
- 28:21A-Team, he compares them to the Giants.
- 28:23Well, it's what I know best, but and they've had the same colors.
- 28:27The Patriots, you got to give it to them.
- 28:29That's that was just willing themselves to win.
- 28:31What a great defensive game plan by just keeping everything in
- 28:35front of them, making this guy who they knew was going to make
- 28:37mistakes, eventually make those mistakes and they won.
- 28:41Great for them. Now they get to go to the Super
- 28:43Bowl. Probably the least impressive
- 28:44though, Errol like AFC representative we've had in a
- 28:48long. It's horrible, but that just
- 28:50shows you how weak the AFC is and if you're a Jet fan, you
- 28:53should be excited if you're a team that has been so bad over
- 28:56the years. The Browns, I don't.
- 28:59Right now the Browns can't find a coach, but that's a whole
- 29:01nother thing. But I mean, all the bad teams in
- 29:03the AFC, it could be wide open in the future because all these
- 29:07teams are nowhere close to the talent and the upside of the
- 29:11NFC. If you think about it, the
- 29:13Eagles didn't play well offensively this year, but they
- 29:16were really, really good. I mean, the Buccaneers were up
- 29:18and down all season long, but they they're really, really
- 29:21good. I mean, Atlanta's going to be
- 29:23really, really good next year. You have look at that division
- 29:26with San Francisco and Seattle and the Rams.
- 29:29I mean, the, the North, the Lions didn't make the playoffs.
- 29:32You don't you don't think the Lions are going to be better
- 29:34next year? They're going to be really good
- 29:35next year. That Green Bay Packers, when
- 29:37they get Mica back, they're going to be really good.
- 29:39So the NFC is loaded and the AFC is weak, and that's why the
- 29:42Patriots are where they are. Say whatever you want if you're
- 29:45a Patriot fan. I'm not knocking down the
- 29:47Patriots. Here's the facts.
- 29:49The Patriots had an easy schedule, just like The Jets
- 29:52did. Now, The Jets obviously have a
- 29:54lot more to a lot more, a lot more positions they need to fill
- 29:59in than the Patriots do. And, and again, Aaron Glenn is a
- 30:02new coach. Mike Frabel was a successful
- 30:05coach in Tennessee, 1 coach of the year, built A-Team to make
- 30:09the playoffs almost every other year.
- 30:11So it's not like tennis, you know, Mike Frabel's never been
- 30:14here before anyone multiple, you know, Super Bowls with the New
- 30:18England Patriots as a linebacker.
- 30:19So I am not, I'm not going back and forth and forth and saying
- 30:23that the AFC is as bad as I'm making it out to be.
- 30:27I'm just saying that if you're a fan of any team in the AFC over
- 30:31the over the next couple of years, I'm going to tell you
- 30:33guys this right now in in football, there could be a quick
- 30:37transition, a quick one. And the New York Jets, the
- 30:41Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers with their Mike McCarthy, we'll
- 30:44get into that a little bit later.
- 30:46A lot of these different teams that are start trying to crawl.
- 30:49Even the Kansas City Chiefs, if they get Patrick Mahomes back
- 30:52and they add some pieces in the offseason, why couldn't they go
- 30:55to the Super Bowl next year? I am guaranteeing you the Pat,
- 30:58the Patriots will not be in the Super Bowl next year, Not the
- 31:01way they've played in the playoffs all since they've
- 31:03gotten here. So they have been as bad of a
- 31:06team in the playoffs since the the defense has played well
- 31:10offensively. They've been putrid.
- 31:12They've been really, really bad. And that's all I'm going to say
- 31:14about that. I don't want to hear about the
- 31:16snow. I don't want to hear about both
- 31:17teams had to play that way. There's no excuse.
- 31:19You're Drake May and you're an MVP candidate.
- 31:22You're going out there, you're stepping into your passes and
- 31:25you're making your passes. He did not Three weeks in a row,
- 31:28he did not. I'm sorry he did not.
- 31:31That's all I'm going to say all. Right before move on to the next
- 31:33game, we have the Legend of the Geese on the phone, Mr. Kenny.
- 31:36Kenny, what's up, buddy? You're my How you guys doing?
- 31:39I remember there was a producer on my show crazy for picking the
- 31:43Pats of the Seahawks when? Would you stick of?
- 31:48Errol, Errol got it right. Josh and I got it wrong.
- 31:51We both have. The I called him.
- 31:53You're the experts. All right, Hold on, Hold on,
- 31:56hold on. Errol won the pick em.
- 31:57This year I I did the pick em and and by the way, by the way,
- 32:02hold on, hold on Mr. Big Mouth over there and don't don't
- 32:06attack me on my show and say that I didn't.
- 32:08Pick the right. Well, you just.
- 32:10No, he will. Hold me.
- 32:11All right, but all right, so just so you know, you.
- 32:13Were right. He was wrong.
- 32:14I didn't know. All right.
- 32:15So I picked the Patriots and I picked Seattle to go to the
- 32:18Super Bowl this year. That's what I picked.
- 32:20When the playoffs began, in my head I predict the same thing
- 32:24because I'm like Rams and Broncos, best ones on paper in
- 32:28the first season, not going to be the best in this season.
- 32:31The other two, those two are going to be the best.
- 32:33I'm going to tell you this right now.
- 32:34If Buffalo played in that game, Buffalo wins.
- 32:38They go to the Super Bowl. If, if Josh Allen, if.
- 32:42Hold on, Hold on, Kenny. Team, so they were a little
- 32:44whacking. Kenny, if Buffalo played in that
- 32:48game and it wasn't the Broncos, Josh Allen would have put up at
- 32:51least 20 something points in that game.
- 32:53And if he did, they win that game because I've seen Josh
- 32:55Allen play in the snow and I've seen him play bad in the snow,
- 32:58but he wouldn't have played that bad.
- 32:59I've never seen Josh Allen play that bad in the snow in a snow
- 33:02game. And I've seen and I remember
- 33:04when Diggs was on that team and they lost in that game in a
- 33:07snowstorm against the Bengals. They weren't if he didn't look
- 33:10that bad in the Bengals. 1st of like 6 hissy fits he had.
- 33:13Yeah, but I, I remember. It this does prove that the
- 33:17experts aren't always right. All of them.
- 33:19Some of them. Here's the thing.
- 33:22I am always right. I'm going to tell you this like
- 33:25I've told everybody, and now everybody's starting to believe
- 33:27it. I think sports is rigged.
- 33:30I've been saying that for a very, very long time.
- 33:32Look, look what changed that game.
- 33:34What changed the outcome of that game?
- 33:36Speedy, What have I been saying? Yeah, you were talking about the
- 33:38backwards. Past the back.
- 33:40Hold on. Hold on, Kenny.
- 33:41Let me speak. Stop cutting me off.
- 33:43How much do you smoke tonight? How much do you smoke?
- 33:48All right, let let me finish the the first thing that I said on
- 33:51my take, my monologue was what do I believe changed that game?
- 33:56And that was the call that the referees took back.
- 33:59They called it intentional grounding.
- 34:02And then all of a sudden the referees came together because
- 34:04Frabel was complaining and crying on the sidelines.
- 34:07And then all of a sudden, within 3 minutes, oh, it was a
- 34:10backwards lateral. It goes to the Patriots on the
- 34:1312 yard line that changed the game and that one play help the
- 34:18Patriots move on to the Super Bowl.
- 34:20That one play. It's the referees.
- 34:22It's it comes down to the referees and the calls.
- 34:25Why do you think the Buffalo Bills are not in the AFC title
- 34:28game? Because of that horrible call.
- 34:30Horrible call. Cooks caught that ball and he
- 34:33got it ripped out of his hand. That was the.
- 34:35Change in the game. It was freaking terrible and I'm
- 34:37like, I was rooting for the Bills too, and I'm like, damn
- 34:40it, they can't even win. The fact here is, Kenny, in the
- 34:45NFL, the referees have every bit of the power to change the
- 34:50outcome of a game. And I don't think it's a
- 34:52coincidence that what changed that outcome of the game was
- 34:56that backwards lateral, and it was that was the outcome of the
- 34:59game, that one play. Because if they don't score, if
- 35:02they don't score that touchdown, they never score a touchdown and
- 35:05the game ends 7:00 to 3:00. That's that's it.
- 35:09I've I've thought even if they don't play the best guarantee,
- 35:14by the by the time we get them, they're going to make the Super
- 35:17Bowl. Calls are going to go their way.
- 35:19Something's going to go their way.
- 35:22We all know so. That's why I figured when I
- 35:23picked up picked them right at the beginning of the playoffs,
- 35:25I'm like when they are in the right game, it always goes their
- 35:29way. All right, How are you doing,
- 35:31Kenny? Before we let you go, where have
- 35:32you been? You disappear off the face of
- 35:34the. How's everybody doing?
- 35:36We're good, man, We're good. Job is good.
- 35:38I don't know what happened. Man, the internet's been glitchy
- 35:40all night. That doesn't.
- 35:41Sound. How's fish?
- 35:43Fish is good. He was in and out.
- 35:45He's been out, in and out of the camera.
- 35:46He's good. We're all good, man.
- 35:48What's up, Kenny? How's.
- 35:49The how's the break time sports guy doing?
- 35:52He's one of my favorite segments.
- 35:55Which one is that? That's also fish.
- 35:57Oh yeah, fish. Fish is in and out.
- 35:59He can't. Obviously you can't hear him,
- 36:02but he said what's up to you? He said.
- 36:03What's up to? You.
- 36:04That's cool, man. Yes, he loves you and hopefully.
- 36:07Have you been chasing anything? Dogs, cats.
- 36:10What have you been chasing? Right, Moose.
- 36:11For the first time this many seasons, Blush is joining me for
- 36:16the Super Bowl game. Who?
- 36:18What? One of his coach.
- 36:20What the hell is Blush? Blush.
- 36:21It's. His friend.
- 36:22So he works for The Jets? He works for The Jets.
- 36:25I've never heard. Of him he does.
- 36:26He does part of their Twitter page.
- 36:28OK, so Blush is going with you to the Super Bowl, is that what
- 36:32you're saying? No, no, he's going to join my
- 36:33show. Oh OK, so blush and you are
- 36:36going to hang out and shoot the you know what with each other.
- 36:39And talk about the Super Bowl game coming up.
- 36:42Just make sure he's not wearing any robes on the show or any of
- 36:45that. Stuff he's definitely not as
- 36:47he's real professional. And we're going to talk a little
- 36:49bit about his new book. OK, briefly and we're going to
- 36:53talk about. Smoking weed.
- 36:56No, we're going to talk about that.
- 36:58Conference finals, all that the bag I.
- 37:01Mean you're you're all about that.
- 37:02I mean, how's, how's everything going?
- 37:05Are you I the last time we had you on the show, you you weren't
- 37:08drinking. You stopped drinking.
- 37:10Are are you back to drinking? Just vacations, special
- 37:15occasions and holidays. Oh yeah, What?
- 37:16What a holiday? What Monday?
- 37:17Holidays. All right, so where?
- 37:19Where? Was the.
- 37:20Discovery Where was the last weekend?
- 37:21Where was the last vacation you were at?
- 37:25I visit my sister last year. So you haven't drank since last
- 37:30year? What?
- 37:32So you haven't drank since last year?
- 37:35No, I do special occasions and holidays.
- 37:37Oh yeah? What do you drink?
- 37:38A bottle? 2 bottles. 3 bottles.
- 37:40What do you drink? No, I'm drinking a full bottle
- 37:43of of liquor or anything. Well, what are you doing
- 37:46tonight? Are you hanging out?
- 37:47You know, smoking a little weed? So I know you get home, so you
- 37:52get high I. Go to my dinner so.

- 42:27the platforms from Spotify and Apple, TikTok, Instagram X
- 42:32YouTube, Jabba in the mouth and all the different platforms that
- 42:35we're on. We really appreciate you guys
- 42:37and stay tuned for some great shows this year and great
- 42:41opportunities to see what we're going to be doing.
- 42:43And, and I believe it's sometime this year, we're going to be
- 42:46positioned into maybe a huge announcement.
- 42:50So just looking forward to a great year and I hope everybody
- 42:54enjoys our show. We put a lot of time and effort
- 42:56and work into this and it's not you're just going to throw slop
- 43:00on the and hopefully it sticks. It's not like that.
- 43:02This show is not like that. It's hard work, dedication, all
- 43:05the guys, speedy and fish and all the guys that work on the
- 43:10back end to help this show really, you know, become
- 43:13something of not only just, you know, I believe one of the best
- 43:17shows in America, but one of the shows that I think people are
- 43:21copycatting and and trying to make their own, which is
- 43:25pathetic. And, and you know who I'm
- 43:27talking about? I don't even have to mention it.
- 43:29All you people out there that are trying to copycat us because
- 43:33you're just shamefully shameful enough to know that you have no
- 43:38create, create creativity, ability to go out there and and
- 43:43put the the time and effort into working and figuring out how you
- 43:46could be yourselves. So that's all I'm going to say.
- 43:48I almost stuttered on that, but that's it for our show.
- 43:51Speedy, who do we have on tomorrow, Thursday?
- 43:53Time to be determined. Still on, but he is coming.
- 43:55Come on. He just converted two hours ago.
- 43:56He's be good to go. Our friend Mr. Foyer, Luke and
- 43:59Jaguars. Linebacker.
- 43:59All right, Foyer is going to be joining us.
- 44:01We'll talk about the Jaguars, their season.
- 44:04Obviously, you know Travis Hunter, the Gremlin, you know,
- 44:08his quarterback that's had a pretty good second-half of the
- 44:11season. So a lot to get into it with
- 44:12Foyer. I'm sure he's going to laugh as
- 44:14he always does when he comes on the show.
- 44:16All right, that's it for a show. Ladies and gentlemen, we'll see
- 44:18you Thursday. Goodnight.
- 44:20You're listening to the Worldwide Sports Radio Network.
