  if you're out there, Hi, So you guys, I'm just gonna start

  things from the beginning instead of jumping into talking about like the particular aspects of

  certain things that you know, I'm going to keep them in context. But

  y'all, the beginning of this episode, we start right where we had left
• 1:44
  off with this like weird mysterious group of pirates that are there. They're Fishmen,
• 1:51
  but I think they are also pirates because they are affiliated with Arlong.
• 1:57
  But the fact that Arlong is still at Fishman Island kind of makes me wonder,
• 2:01
  like how much of a pirate he really is anymore, because the thing
• 2:07
  about being a pirate is that you don't like stay where you're born. You
• 2:10
  travel around and cause trouble. And it seems to me that what Lufy did
• 2:16
  in defeating Arlong and not killing him evidently was that the the dude just doesn't
• 2:27
  want to start trouble anymore because of the way he got absolutely poned. And
• 2:32
  it's kind of funny in this scene, these dudes basically say like, we
• 2:38
  don't know what to do with you, my guy, because we are technically
• 2:46
  on an opposing side because of Arlong. But then you try to help Hachi
• 2:53
  by like punching an imperial dragon, which is just unheard of. Sort of
• 3:00
  feels like you're back on our side. Don't know what to do, so
• 3:05
  how about you join up with us, and as long as you become part
• 3:12
  of our pirate crew, it's cool. We'll just let Bygones be Bygones.

  I feel like asking him to join up with their crew. If Arlong were
• 3:24
  actually here to see this interaction, he would not approve of this being one
• 3:29
  of the choices that Lufy is given. And like, I may be wrong
• 3:32
  about that, maybe, you know, Like, but it just felt for
• 3:37
  me, like, you, this doesn't seem like something he'd want. I
• 3:44
  don't know, maybe he would, because then Lufy'd be under his power,
• 3:46
  but like he wouldn't really not really. So at this point, our friend
• 3:53
  the octopush just ditches the ship and he flees the place, and it's like
• 4:00
  they are just so very close to actually getting where they need to go,
• 4:04
  and the ship drops and hits the sand and is basically the equivalent of run
• 4:12
  aground, except underwater. And it should be noted that, like the way
• 4:19
  in which this bubble around the ship is shrinking is a really dangerous indication of
• 4:29
  the fact that they are losing air. And so this scene, they look
• 4:36
  so small in comparison to these sea monsters that around are around them. Like
• 4:43
  I was just like, couldn't one of these animals literally just swallow them?
• 4:46
  You know? But maybe they're just not into eating wooden ships. So this
• 4:56
  is so funny because this guy is like, yeah, we're gonna you're gonna
• 4:59
  join the r along Pirates. And what is it that Lufy says? In
• 5:03
  response? He says something like, who like get lust? Or yeah right,
• 5:12
  I can't even remember. I'll get to that spot in a moment,
• 5:15
  but uh yeah, this dude who is talking to Lufy here, we've got
• 5:19
  to do a little bit of a chat about their overall. Look, so
• 5:26
  the main guy talking to Lufy. Imagine a banana with abs and put a
• 5:35
  little orphan anny wig on top of it, and that is this dude.
• 5:42
  There's other stuff happening too, a couple tattoos. I don't care. This
• 5:47
  dude's banana. That's all there is to it. Then to his right is
• 5:53
  a guy who's wearing what feels a little bit like a traditional sort of as
• 5:59
  tech cost assume, Like there's feathers and they're very dense coming off of his
• 6:02
  shoulders and off the top of his head. I'm not really sure. And
• 6:06
  apparently the guy in the middle is named Fisher Tiger or no Hammond. New
• 6:14
  Fisherman Pirates assassin Hyozu Heozu is a really interesting looking so he's got kind of
• 6:24
  a dreadlocks thing going on with his hair. He's also got this gord that
• 6:31
  he's carrying with him and this red lines across his cheeks, that and his
• 6:38
  nose that I think is meant to indicate that he's drunk. He's just a
• 6:43
  really it's there's nothing about him for me that feels particularly fish like that Hammond
• 6:51
  guy. That dude looks like a fish. And then here is Cassagon is
• 6:59
  the dude who's got the uh sort of az tech feathered look. So anyway,
• 7:06
  yeah, this is the point where he says, become part of the
• 7:11
  r along pirates or else, and then he fills it in with and the
• 7:15
  or else is we sink you right now. As he says this, Nami
• 7:21
  decides that she's going to go over and start talking to Frankie about a different
• 7:25
  way to handle this, because she is correct in that you know that Lufy
• 7:30
  isn't going to take this sitting down. He's going to start a fight with
• 7:32
  these guys. He won't cooperate and they are going to kill us. We
• 7:38
  have no oxygen left almost and he's going to break the bubble, break the
• 7:43
  show. Something's going to go wrong, And she says, we've come way
• 7:47
  too far to die here, and I kind of like this because our friends
• 7:55
  have become powerful enough that a lot of people just didn't even want to mess
• 7:59
  with them. But putting them in this setting means that even though they have
• 8:03
  individually grown a lot more powerful, they are still at the mercy of like
• 8:09
  nature with this water pressure and just drowning, you know, like all of
• 8:13
  this. So it's a pretty effective way to make it so that their new
• 8:18
  abilities don't just make them so opie that nobody can fuck with them. And
• 8:24
  Robin she is just like, yeah, I think Nami is right. This
• 8:30
  is really the only way that we're going to survive this. So Frankie,
• 8:35
  he pulls all the sails up and I love this. Dude the drunk just
• 8:41
  saying those humans are starting to look awfully busy there, don't you think something
• 8:48
  they're doing something? And Hammon says humans aren't that smart, so probably whatever
• 8:56
  they're doing, we can handle it. Yeah, okay, So Lufy says,

  yeah, right, you wish and then says stupid after it. Amazing.
• 9:07
  It's just such a goofy response. I love it. So this guy's
• 9:13
  like, all right, well then you're officially our enemy, and that means
• 9:18
  that we are going to do what we do to humans, to you,
• 9:22
  and Lufy meanwhile is yelling at them, why would I want to work for
• 9:24
  a dumb fish face like you, and is literally like pulling his cheeks out
• 9:30
  and when I say, like his face, you know, saying but yeah.
• 9:37
  So this dude is like, all right, we're going to attack,
• 9:39
  and they begin to charge. We jump over to oos Up, who has
• 9:46
  some canisters, some barrels lined up, and he's like, all right,
• 9:50
  we're doing it, let's go. Everybody on the deck is like preparing for
• 9:54
  a fight in case they aren't able to you know, hit the gas to
• 10:00
  like quickly enough, and then they take off in this like sort of series.
• 10:07
  It's a coude of burst, but it's like a way stronger one than
• 10:09
  usual, and they managed to blow right past that lion. But as they're
• 10:18
  going, because it's sucking air out of the coating that's on the ship,
• 10:24
  it's shrink wrapping them in place. It's like they're underneath the laminator and they're
• 10:31
  all just smushed down to the deck. And it is a really really fascinating
• 10:37
  way to deal with this, Like the idea that they could become physically trapped
• 10:43
  under the coating of the ship. I just think this is a really neat
• 10:46
  concept. Meanwhile, those other pirates out there are just sort of like,
• 10:52
  wait, how do they even do that? What's up with that ship?
• 10:56
  They hit another coating, like the outside of the bubble. As they go
• 11:03
  into the Fishman Island area, their own bubble comes off and it gets trapped
• 11:11
  in with the one that they just crossed through. And as they're sailing through,
• 11:16
  it turns out this is double sealed. So the ship would normally just
• 11:26
  crash here because there's not water to support it, but because they plowed through
• 11:33
  at high speed, they're actually going to break through both of them, which
• 11:39
  is really so we saw that there was like an actual entrance at going through
• 11:45
  these bubbles, like this giant sort of it almost looked like where you would
• 11:50
  insert one of those needles from a pump to inflate like an exercise ball,
• 11:54
  you know those. It almost was like that, And for a moment I'm
• 12:01
  thinking like, well, then, is that why so many people fail to
• 12:03
  make it because they don't realize. But I was like, oh no,
• 12:07
  the entrance would probably be the way that most people went in, and it
• 12:09
  would be the way that they'd go in if they weren't accosted by these pirates
• 12:13
  this way, so they go through it, and once they go through the
• 12:18
  second one, which is water, they have no coating on their ship anymore,
• 12:24
  and all of them start to plummet. And like, reminder, we've
• 12:28
  got a few double fruit users here that can't swim once they're in this water.
• 12:33
  That's it. So we see Soanjy and of course he's got his history
• 12:39
  with swimming, so he knows how. Of course, one of the first
• 12:41
  people that he saves is Robin and he is realizing like, oh yeah,
• 12:50
  there's gonna be a bunch of folks here who can't swim. Meanwhile, Zoro
• 12:54
  is just like shit, and he says reach And I was thinking that he
• 13:00
  was trying to grab somebody, but we don't see him reaching in the same
• 13:03
  way that we see Sanjy doing. And the current, there's like a current
• 13:09
  in this that is apparently quite strong, and so it's pulling them all down
• 13:15
  in this vortex. And I was just like, wait, where does it
• 13:20
  go? Because like the place is inside almost a fish bowl, So where
• 13:26
  does the current even head? Do you know what I'm saying? Like I
• 13:31
  didn't really understood how this function. Then we go out to the pirates,
• 13:35
  who are just like, well, I guess that's one way to get in,
• 13:39
  Like they seem almost impressed at least the uh sort of as tech looking
• 13:43
  guy. I am so sorry. Guys, by the way, I will
• 13:46
  not remember their names, so good luck to me. But we're gonna call
• 13:50
  in the Aztec, the Banana and Dreadlocks. So yeah, the Hammond's like,
• 13:58
  well, we can still get them even in there, and Dreadlocks is
• 14:01
  like, I mean, we can if you want, but we don't even
• 14:07
  know if they're still alive, so I don't know whatever. But Hammond says
• 14:13
  we can't let Neptune's army get their hands on him first. And later on
• 14:20
  we find out about King Neptune and that he is like a sea god,
• 14:26
  which you know that's also Ariel's name, And there is a very sort of
• 14:30
  under the sea vibe. I don't mean just like literally under the sea,
• 14:33
  but I feel like it's when I compared it earlier to expecting something from Little
• 14:39
  Mermaid, I am getting more of that than it looked like I was going
• 14:43
  to get. And so Fishman Island on the way that this place is set
• 14:52
  up is sort of confusing to me because everything is underwater technically, like the
• 15:00
  buildings, but it seems like there's air inside the apartments themselves. Excuse me,
• 15:11
  I have the hiccups. But yeah, the way that this works,
• 15:18
  it's a little bit the little girls that wake Loofy up. For example,
• 15:24
  the way that they are swimming through the air is that they are sort of
• 15:30
  all wearing a inner tube of air around their waists, almost like they were
• 15:37
  able to make bubbles like they have at Sabaodi, but fashion them into something
• 15:43
  else. So it's a weird thing where there's like only water in this certain
• 15:50
  area, but even in the places where there isn't water, our friends with
• 15:56
  fish tails can function as if there were water. And so I get a
• 16:03
  little bit like confused every now and then about what setting we're actually in and
• 16:07
  how all of this works. So here comes the uh cute green haired mermaid
• 16:15
  that they had met before, and apparently she was able to like scoop them
• 16:21
  all up and rescue them, and it's, Uh, there's a weird moment
• 16:26
  where she's like saying, I'm sure that you guys are all cold, so
• 16:29
  I made you some cold seaweed soup, and they're all like, wait cold,
• 16:33
  and she just I can't tell if the joke is going to be like
• 16:37
  a running joke about how she's really bad at cooking, or if it's that
• 16:42
  she's sort of ditzy or what's going on. I didn't get ditzy from her
• 16:47
  really the first time we met her. Kamie that's her name, but uh
• 16:52
  yeah, so she's the one who has like all of these little girls here
• 16:59
  fuck and Sanji of course it is like, oh my god, you're even
• 17:03
  lovelier than you had been. Marry me, and uh, Lufy says,
• 17:07
  wait, if came here, if came he's here, then we made it
• 17:11
  to the island after all. But as it turns out, our friends got
• 17:15
  separated already, so we have gotten here and instantly separated. And I was
• 17:21
  just like, oh my god, this is just not fair. So yeah,
• 17:26
  Lufy is talking to her and he says, this is your house,
• 17:30
  and she's like, yeah, I know, I was supposed to pick you
• 17:33
  guys up on Sabaodi, but I thought that was another month from now.
• 17:36
  I don't remember her being part of this at all, to be honest,
• 17:41
  I guess, like I don't know, I don't Oh my god, and
• 17:45
  I'm realizing that she's actually floating in water, because there's water like up to
• 17:52
  the edge of her counters and stuff. So it's almost like there's a pool
• 17:57
  that is the floor, and then the bed that everybody is sitting on,
• 18:03
  which is of course a giant like oyster shell clamshell is floating on top of
• 18:10
  that water. I had totally forgotten this, but yeah, So they begin
• 18:15
  to sort of understand the gravity of them all being separated and really hoping that,
• 18:22
  like the other ones, managed to get out of it. But they
• 18:26
  don't really know what happened. They're not even entirely sure how they got here
• 18:30
  with Kamie at this point, you know. And Soanji is like, well,
• 18:38
  I think that if Frankie and Mosshead of course is the way he says
• 18:45
  it, and Zoro are with the others, that they may be okay.
• 18:52
  So here comes the weird thing with the seaweed soup, and Sangy takes some
• 19:00
  and is just insisting that it's like the most delicious thing he's ever tasted and
• 19:06
  that it's definitely warming him right up. Then we get these girls bringing the
• 19:12
  laundry. You guys, this is so funny, So they each speak in
• 19:15
  turn, and it's like the same rhythm. Every time. There's the positive
• 19:21
  one your clothes are dry, everybody, and somebody else just says in a
• 19:26
  neutral way they're dry. Then the third one who is upset, No,
• 19:32
  they're not dry, and then another says your clothes might be dry, and
• 19:38
  then the fifth one says, who cares if they're dry? And this is
• 19:45
  how they respond every time. You get somebody who's positive, somebody who's neutral,
• 19:48
  somebody who's negative, somebody who's uncertain, and then somebody who's just like
• 19:52
  a nihilist. And this is actually working quite well for me. I think
• 19:57
  that this is genuinely funny. There is something about all of them, like
• 20:02
  what they're differing responses in any given moment, followed by the one who says,
• 20:07
  who cares? Or so what and honestly, so what, let's bring
• 20:12
  so what back? I love so what? That really was a thing,
• 20:17
  and now nobody says that the same way. And I feel like it really
• 20:22
  encompasses a certain vibe that other phrasing doesn't quite do, you know, Like
• 20:30
  if you say something and then somebody responds with and that is them saying I
• 20:36
  expected a particular outcome or at least a continuation of the story. And I'm
• 20:41
  not getting it. But if somebody says something and then you say, so
• 20:45
  what it's not about, like you need to tell me the cause or the
• 20:51
  effect, It's like you just saying what you've told me is utterly irrelevant.
• 20:56
  Even if it were irrelevant, it like really wouldn't be. I want to
• 21:00
  know what the point was of even telling me the story. And that's just
• 21:06
  sometimes how I feel about things, to be honest. But yeah, so
• 21:11
  it does turn out that their clothes are actually dry, So the first one
• 21:15
  was correct. I'm not sure if it's going to be that the one that's
• 21:18
  positive tends to always be right, or if the one that's like the one
• 21:26
  that's the first to speak is just putting the best spin on things. I
• 21:30
  don't know. I'm not gonna bother learning all their names. By the way,
• 21:33
  there's two Yankas. That's all I need to know. But yeah,
• 21:38
  So this is when Kamie says, I've got a lot of neat friends here,
• 21:41
  actually, and she says that this is the Seafloor and it's the home
• 21:48
  of the girls dorm and the Mermaid Cafe. So Sanji says, girls dorm
• 21:56
  and he has to really really take a moment. Both oos Up and Chopper
• 22:03
  are just like, oh god, oh no. He really tries to restrain
• 22:08
  himself and he's like, well, what about the Mermaid Cafe And Kamie says
• 22:14
  that she works there and you know, has made a lot of cool friends
• 22:18
  here. Later on he actually meets some of them and it's just as good
• 22:26
  as he had hoped for. He's like, I promised myself I wouldn't get
• 22:32
  a nosebleed here on Fishman Island. I'm not going to do it, and
• 22:36
  he's like really trying to maintain control of himself. At this point, Kamie
• 22:42
  is like, well, why don't we go out and pay a visit.
• 22:45
  And there's this cool elevator that's on the back of a sea turtle and the
• 22:49
  sea turtle's got a little helmet, you guys, it's a little helmet and
• 22:56
  a little whistle as he like lifts into the air. This is adorable.
• 23:03
  This is precious. I love it so much. As they are ascending,
• 23:07
  Kamie explains that the bottom is like the low income area. That's why that's
• 23:15
  where the dorms are, and she says the top floors most expensive because it
• 23:21
  gets natural light, which we still haven't really established how there's so much light
• 23:27
  down here, and you know, the sun couldn't penetrate this far, so
• 23:33
  where's that light coming from? She says, natural light, not sunlight.
• 23:40
  So I'm assuming that there is some sort of glowing substance down here. I
• 23:45
  don't know. And they ask about where Hatchie's living. She says that he
• 23:52
  got beat up real bad about a year ago. That was what we know
• 23:56
  about from him guarding the ship. And she says he came from the district,
• 24:00
  so that's where he's been resting and recovering. I haven't had the chance
• 24:03
  to see him lately, but from what I hear, he's getting better all
• 24:07
  the time. And but it is kind of a rough part of town.

  I wouldn't mind going to see him if you guys were with me. So
• 24:15
  she hasn't been a scene because she's sort of worried about it. And then
• 24:19
  there is uh Papa Goo and I am so sorry, kids, but that
• 24:23
  name not good, and she says he's a super famous fashion designer. So
• 24:30
  he lives in a big, fancy mansion in the high class district of fish
• 24:37
  fly Hills, Fish Forly Hills. Oh my god, Lufy says, wait,
• 24:45
  he's your pet. Don't you two live in the same place? And
• 24:49
  she says, yeah, that area is a little out of my price range.
• 24:56
  Papa Goo. The fact that you hit it big and Kamie has been
• 25:04
  your person and you haven't shared the wealth with her at all. Not that
• 25:10
  she's living in squalor or anything. Her apartment seemed perfectly cute, But why
• 25:18
  would you just not share any of your success with her? Sir? What
• 25:25
  the fuck is that about? I was annoyed, and this is just how
• 25:29
  I am, though, You're Like, if the podcast was to suddenly get
• 25:33
  super successful so that I wasn't living like paycheck to paycheck, the first thing
• 25:38
  that I would do is increase the amount of money that I am paying the
• 25:44
  couple of people that I am able to pay. And that's just people who
• 25:49
  actually work with me, never mind like friends, who of course I would
• 25:53
  help so often. Like, it's just I don't think much of a character
• 26:00
  who hits it big and then leaves their friends behind like this. Not that
• 26:04
  he needs to like just straight up pay her rent, but he's got to
• 26:07
  mansion the size of the one that we see later he could straight up pay
• 26:11
  her rent apparently, Like that's the kind of success we're talking about. You

  know, I make after taxes and my expenses for the show, I make
• 26:25
  about thirty five grand a year, and that's a good year. That's like
• 26:30
  kind of on the higher end. If you suddenly saw me jump to making
• 26:36
  like one hundred thousand a year, let's say, and that's not even what
• 26:41
  he's living in, would be much more than that, I think. But
• 26:48
  there's no way that I don't start paying Rashan at least triple what I'm paying
• 26:55
  her now, at least, like you know, anyway, anyway, It's
• 27:00
  just it bothered me, you guys, it just bothered me. So uh.

  I love when us up is like, what's that like tube over there?

  And she explains that it's like a water road and it has a really
• 27:18
  particularly strong current, so you can like pop in there and get drawn extra
• 27:25
  quickly to wherever it is you're going. What it kind of reminded me of
• 27:29
  was like those moving walkways that they have in airports, you know, so
• 27:33
  they wind up surfacing and when they surface, she waves to them, and
• 27:40
  we see that this tube goes through the sky and that way they are able
• 27:45
  to continue swimming in this way. But the thing that I appreciated that this
• 27:51
  is actually acknowledged, the weirdness of this place being underwater but still having like
• 27:56
  a sky with clouds. It's so I don't feel like this ever actually gets
• 28:03
  explained in these episodes. It may in the future, but usap definitely is
• 28:07
  sort of like, wait, how is this possible? So this is the
• 28:12
  point where we get to see all of the girls that work at the Mermaid
• 28:17
  Cafe, and of course they are universally hot. There is not a single
• 28:22
  mermaid here that has that like really intensely masculine look that some of the women
• 28:30
  on Maiden Island are given. All of these mermaids like have the exact same
• 28:36
  body and mostly, let's be real, the same faces as well. It's
• 28:41
  just they're given different colors of hair and different colored eyes. Maybe their eyes
• 28:45
  are like tilted and slanted in different ways. That's sort of the only thing.
• 28:49
  And y'all, this moment that this show gets so much more like explicit
• 28:56
  about stuff than I expect it to. He's looking at all of them and
• 29:00
  we see the animation zeros in on his crotch and we see sparkles around it,
• 29:11
  as if to signal that he's getting a tingly in his bits, or
• 29:17
  maybe getting an erection. I don't know. Sangy literally begins crying and he
• 29:27
  runs forward and sobs and then collapses. Lufy is like he didn't even cry
• 29:36
  this hard when he left the baratier, and he says, finally I found
• 29:42
  my all blue after all these years. This this isn't the all blue?
• 29:51
  Sir? Are you gonna cook and eat these girls? I feel like that's
• 29:55
  not what you're talking about. What do you? What do you? Why
• 29:59
  would you I think that? Why would you even say that? This is

  just a weird response. So Kamie comes up and she introduces all of them,
• 30:10
  and then again one of the mermaids asks Sanji, why are you crying?
• 30:15
  Come over here, Let's dance in the water together. She takes his
• 30:21
  hand and starts to pull him toward the water, and he then says,
• 30:26
  Okay, I get it. This is obviously too good to be true.
• 30:33
  Maybe I'm destined to die today. And Usa just jumps in and says,
• 30:41
  that's dark. What the hell happened to you? Oh my god? This
• 30:48
  is delightful, Honestly as much as Sanji is so irritating, this situation itself
• 30:53
  feels built explicitly for his like fantasy dreams, you know, like all of
• 31:03
  these girls all being very very hot and apparently like kind of flirty as well.
• 31:10
  Like we see the way they act with him later, and they are
• 31:12
  really playful with him and not the kind of reserved and like what are you?
• 31:21
  Why are you acting this way that a lot of women would be.
• 31:26
  So the episode ends with us going to the Fishman District, which is like
• 31:30
  we heard Hatchie is there and it's not a grey area, and we see
• 31:36
  the uh are long pirates talking to I assume are long based on the coloring
• 31:44
  of this uh the arms that we get to see. I can't remember if
• 31:48
  we actually explicitly see his face, but it's pretty like clear with the teeth
• 31:53
  and everything. That's who we're talking that's who they're talking to. I may
• 31:59
  be wrong. I feel like the subtitle said a different name, but I
• 32:01
  was like, this guy looks like him. I don't know, is he
• 32:07
  going by a different name now than he used to? Perhaps that's what's going
• 32:10
  on. So the excitement blowout. Let's just talk about this all right,

  you know, what First, I'm going to talk about Nami because we didn't
• 32:28
  check him with him at the end of the last episode. She's looking around
• 32:32
  and it's just like I cannot believe I am this far underwater, Like how
• 32:37
  does this work? There's ocean there, what is happening? And she's looking
• 32:40

  some like he's just sort of spoiling for a fight, and he hears

  that somebody came in and didn't follow the rules, and he takes that as

  he's like riding away on the ship, he actually says like maybe the guards

  only imagined it. So there's a sense of like he's not He's doing his

  duty because this is what's expected of him, and he has to follow up

  on these sorts of leads. But he isn't somebody who just craves confrontation and
