  we're going to continue on our mystical journey through the Wheel of Time series.

  not even halfway through, but yeah, we are halfway. We are.

  And today we're reviewing book eight, oh the Wheel of Time. Hell yeah.

  And so book eight is titled half of daggers, and some very awesome
• 9:46
  stuff happens in this book. I think the most interesting thing, like the
• 9:52
  one the most interesting thing that happens in this book happens bright off the bat.
• 9:56
  So it's not like dragging through an entire book only for it to have
• 9:58
  like this one climactic battle or event happened right off the bat, like because
• 10:05
  for the past two books, so since book six, and I think actually
• 10:11
  I think they hinted head in book five or like they started noticing it in
• 10:13
  book five, and then book six came around and everybody was like, hey,
• 10:20
  you know, some you know, winter should be in full swing,
• 10:22
  but it feels like we're in the middle of summer. It to droughts hot.

  You gotta do something about it. Because Dark One had locked the seasons
• 10:33
  in place, so instead of it naturally progressing through the summer into fall and
• 10:39
  then winter, it just stayed like in the middle of summer. Like you
• 10:45
  know, if you if you live here in the southern United States, by

  the time August comes around, that is probably the hottest month for US.

  June and July, Nope, those are those are chill compared to August,

  because then August comes around and it's hot. It's that's the hottest and driest

  month typically because like here it's it's already May and it's getting warmer, but

  it's like still we've been getting a lot of overcast weather. Especially here in

  Texas, we've been getting a lot of overcast weather. It's still pretty wet.

  But once we get into late to like late July into August, it's

  gonna like become drier. We're gonna get more sunny, clear days, and

  it's gonna be hot as balls. Yeah, sure is so imagine that hot

  our viewers from the UK, but I remember reading an article that you guys

  had a heat wave, but it was your heat your so called heat wave

  was a crisp eighty eight degree weather. And what I'm talking eight degree fahrenheit.

  I don't know the Celsius conversion, but here in San Antonio, Texas,

  eighty eight degrees is actually a nice cool day. Yes, But you

  also got to remember they're not used to that one. I know they're used

  to like it being like sixties, seventies or whatever. Hey, people from

  the people from the northwest of the Northeast. People from the northeastern part of
• 12:22
  the US where it gets like routinely below zero and they have really cold weather.

  They give us. They give us Southerners nothing butt it mercilessly for not
• 12:35
  being able to handle a little below freezing weather, like thirty degree weather.

  All right, So as a Southerner I am not gonna hold back on the
• 12:46
  ship talk they get. They get all like, oh like, they get

  all like, oh, negative thirty that's nothing, that's a warm day.

  Oh eighty eight degrees, that's nothing. That's a cool day for us US

  we get one hundred and sixteen degree weather. Yeah, looking m hm anyway,

  so that's pretty much the kind of weather the Dark One locks the world
• 13:13
  into. And m and Elaine and Ninive were sent to Ebudar to find a
• 13:22
  particular tarangreoal called the weather bowl or the bowl of winds, because this turangreioal
• 13:30
  has the ability to control the weather. Now, this throngreioal just a little
• 13:35
  backstory about it. It was created during the Age of Legends as a device
• 13:39
  to regulate the weather. Now, typically a weather bowl would only like you
• 13:46
  only need like one person or a couple people link together to use it and
• 13:52
  it'll depending on how you use it, it'll regulate the weather. But the
• 13:58
  thing is is that our girls aren't really sure how to use it properly,
• 14:03
  and they want to do they want to use They want to use this weather
• 14:07
  bowl to its full power to completely unlock the seasons and get things back into
• 14:15
  motion because they're supposed to be in the middle of winter. They need to
• 14:18
  get it back into winter because eventually people are going to start starving. People
• 14:22
  are their game and crops are going to completely dry out, and it's going
• 14:28
  to cause more problems down the line. So we need to get things back
• 14:31
  into motion. So they come up with They came up with a plan to
• 14:35
  enlist the fnmere wind Finders to help them use the weather bowl, because the
• 14:41
  f n Mirror, as it turns out, are incredible weather workers. In
• 14:46
  fact, one of the forsaken comments is that the wind finders their weather working
• 14:50
  abilities is even better than people than the weather working abilities of people from the
• 14:56
  Age of Legends. Hell On the Age of Legends, most channelers relied on
• 15:01
  the weather bowl to control the weather rather than their own weaves, but the
• 15:05
  wind finders over the past three thousand years have developed such complex and such sophisticated
• 15:11
  weather working weaves that they don't they were a weather bowl isn't really necessary for
• 15:16
  them, at least on the scale that the weather bowls were originally used.
• 15:20
  But now with this one weather bowllet that they have access to, they need
• 15:26
  it using the full strength of thirteen channelers link together and channeling simultaneously into the
• 15:33
  bowl to unlock the weather, to break the dark One's grip on the world.
• 15:39
  So whateverly do, let's go ahead and get started, okay, because
• 15:46
  there's there's a lot that does happen in this book. Now, of course,
• 15:50
  there is pretty much a lot a lot more politics involved, and we're
• 15:58
  all also going to see with Rand that he's beginning to suffer from the effects
• 16:03
  of the taint on the Source. So when he began channeling in the first
• 16:11
  half of this of the series, he's always been able to sense the taint
• 16:17
  on the on the male half of the True Source, and he's always described
• 16:23
  it as like this oil like corruption. It sits right on top of this,
• 16:30
  the vast ocean that is side in the male half of the Source.
• 16:33
  So while sight in itself remains pure, that the corruption sits on it like
• 16:41
  an oil, like a layer of oil on an ocean. So in order
• 16:45
  in order to reach for and in order to reach and grab a hold of
• 16:49
  Sidan, you have to reach through that film. And so when you're drawing
• 16:55
  sighting into you, you're pulling the taint into you as well. First,
• 17:00
  Rn was able to ignore it, and it really didn't have much effect on
• 17:03
  him. I mean maybe like a little bit of nausea here and there,

  or just that feeling of uncleanliness whenever he would draw on the source. But

  now in this book, we're gonna start seeing him suffering more adverse physical effects
• 17:21
  from embracing the source, because now Ran Begins is beginning to experience strong dizzy
• 17:27
  spells, extreme nausea. At one point he actually did when he embraced the
• 17:33
  source. He actually loses control of his continence and vomits uncontrollably, and he's
• 17:42
  having a hard time keeping a grip on his emotions, so he's having more
• 17:51
  bounce of aggression. He is struggling to keep control of himself because he actually
• 17:57
  can hear the voice of Louis Terren tell him on his past life, and
• 18:03
  while he's determined, it's that him being able to hear Louis Saren is not
• 18:07
  really a side effect of the madness, but really him just recalling his past
• 18:14
  life's memory. But still this memory has a mind of its own, and
• 18:21
  that he has to not only fight to keep control of Sidon, but make
• 18:23
  sure that Louis then doesn't try to seize it, because Louise Then is mad
• 18:27
  as fuck. He is completely insane. Most of the time, he's just
• 18:33
  like this, babbling incoherent voice in the background of his mind. But sometimes
• 18:41
  under certain stimuli, like when he's embracing the source or if he's dealing with
• 18:45
  is a shaman, Louis Seren becomes more violent and more harder to ignore,
• 18:51
  and at some point Louis Sern himself tries to take control and seize control of
• 18:56
  Sidon from Rand. So Rand has to fight harder to keep in control and
• 19:03
  keep loose Theron from taking over, and he also has to deal with dissension
• 19:11
  among the Ashaman, because already the ashaman have proven themselves to be very effective
• 19:18
  in battle, especially with the infamous Battle of Dumai as well, and they've
• 19:25
  proven themselves to be efficient crackers. They've helped him keep the Ayesidaye that ran
• 19:32
  has under his control and in control, and having them present also seems to
• 19:40
  keep lord other lords under Rand's control in check, So let's go ahead and
• 19:48
  get into it. Throughout this book, we're also going to be seeing more
• 19:51
  from we don't really see much. I'm sorry, we actually don't see much
• 19:56
  of we don't see at all, because after the events of book seven,
• 20:03
  we're not going to see or hear from Matt until the next book. Well,
• 20:07
  actually, hold on, I'm sorry, not the next book. Yeah,

  it is the next book. I'm sorry, I'm all over the place.

  So we actually do get to see more of Matt in book nine,
• 20:22
  but in book eight we're kind of left hanging wondering is he alive? Is

  did he survive the Sean Sean attack of Abu Dhar Because the Shan Shan have
• 20:33
  made their move. They've already taken ten Chico and Amadisha, which is the
• 20:41
  home country of the White Cloaks. The White Cloaks have all been have all
• 20:45
  but been dismantled by the Shan Juan, and now they've attacked Abudar and taken
• 20:52
  control of it. And Ran does find this out later on, and he
• 20:56
  and later on in the book he does come into confrontation with them and in
• 21:00
  an attempt to push them not only push them away from the borders of Ilian,
• 21:06
  which is now under Ram's control, He's also he also was hoping to
• 21:11
  take the fight directly to Abu Dhar, but we'll see more of that later.

  We don't see much of Igwayne in this book. We do there are
• 21:19
  some small scenes with her. She's slowly moving her forces north to Tarbolan.
• 21:26
  The thing is is that the whole confrontation with Elieda and Tarvalan is being dragged
• 21:30
  out. She does towards the end of this book she does give the order
• 21:36
  for her forces to make completely move all the way towards Tarbolon, and they
• 21:42
  accomplish this by opening a massive gateway outside to outstep to the fields outside of
• 21:51
  Tarbolan, and all of her forces, all the Isidaie and the soldiers that
• 21:55
  Gareth Brinn had recruited for all moved through. They completely bipouned and or in
• 22:00
  the process because Salad or Saladar was in Altera, which is a country on
• 22:04
  the southern coast of the Westlands, and in order to get to Tarbolon they
• 22:08
  would have had to cross all the way through Altera, through the small country
• 22:14
  of Mirandi, through and Or until eventually reaching Tarba Lawn. But when they
• 22:18
  reached the border of Mirande and and Or, they were met by a large
• 22:25
  and Dooran force. Because the Andorans weren't really uh, they weren't entirely what's
• 22:33
  the word, they weren't eager to get involved in an Isodi conflict because it's
• 22:41
  at this point, even though Elieda has done everything she could to keep the
• 22:48
  division in the White Tower under wraps, it's pretty common knowledge now that the
• 22:52
  White Tower is divided and there is a large rebel force of Isidai that are
• 22:59
  currently going against the White Tower. So the Andorance kind of blocked them from
• 23:03
  going any further. But after some back and forth with them, and then
• 23:08
  Alsowaine actually makes a huge power move because many of the sitters that work under
• 23:18
  her have been trying to control her and direct her actions. Basically they wanted
• 23:25
  to They're really trying to make Igwaine into a figurehead and make it clear that
• 23:29
  she's not in control. Agwaine makes a huge power move that not only ensures
• 23:33
  that he's the one in charge, not these not these sitters, especially there
• 23:40
  are two sitters that rivals to each other. They're constantly making all these political
• 23:45
  moves behind Igwayne's back, and they're constantly trying to control her, and at
• 23:49
  one point they try to blackmail Agwaine, but Igwaine manages to get one over
• 23:56
  both of them and makes it very clear that under no circumstances are they going
• 24:00
  to be in charge their sitters for the Hall, and their job is not
• 24:04
  to is not to direct or control the movements and the decisions of the ambulance
• 24:11
  seat. Their job is to advise her and help her enforce the laws such
• 24:15
  fe sets in place. So she basically puts her foot down and now she
• 24:21
  has the entire rebel Hall of Sitters under her control, and she gives the
• 24:27
  order that they're going to move. They're going to go ahead and move their
• 24:33
  entire force to Tarbolong with no delay, and they do this by using a
• 24:37
  linked circle of thirteen channelers. They open a massive gateway their whole forces move
• 24:44
  to Tarbolon and at that point we don't see much more of them from this
• 24:47
  point on, and there's gonna be a few small scenes. I will say
• 24:52
  that the Forsaken themselves are beginning to become more of an organized force rather than
• 25:00
  a bunch of idiots doing their own thing. Because at first, when they
• 25:04
  were all released from their their imprisonment in style Goal, they all scattered throughout
• 25:14
  the Westlands and began doing their own thing. Uh. So we already knew
• 25:18
  that Ballal had taken control of Tyr before before Ran came and killed him.
• 25:25
  Uh, Samuel had Alien. Grendall is currently in Uh. I was about
• 25:33
  to say Edu Dart, but it's not edw Dar. It's it's just enough.

  It's uh, oh my god, hold on, let me look at

  the map. I know where she is. I just like I'm totally blinking

  on the name aired Doman. That's where she is. So uh, Grendel

  is hiding in Arab Doman. She took over their capital city and Masana hid

  Tarbaalaan of all places, and she's taking a more direct role in controlling the

  Black Asia that are still hidden there. At one point, Robin had hidden

  himself in Caitlin, the capital of Andor, before Ran came along and killed
• 26:53
  him. Molgedian had hidden herself intent she go, but then she was driven
• 27:00
  out by Ninive and Elaine. Landfeir was pretty much independent at the same as
• 27:10
  Asmodion. Those two were just doing their own thing, going from places to
• 27:14
  places cenourage. As it turns out, as we will find out later,
• 27:22
  On had hidden herself in the Empire of the shan Jtan, and Ishammel was
• 27:30
  directing them all from the shadows, or at least trying to before he died.

  And the thing is is that several of at this point, more than
• 27:40
  half of the Forsaken had been killed. So Shamel was killed, Agonor and
• 27:47
  Balthamel had been killed, Landfeir had been killed, and Robin had been killed,
• 27:52
  and so is Samael. And the thing is is that the Forsaken don't
• 27:57
  state dead. There's belonged to the Dark One, and as a result,
• 28:04
  they just get reborn. So at the moment of their death, the dark
• 28:07
  One, depending on depending on the circumstances of their death, this dark One
• 28:15
  will revive them and put their souls in a new body, and he's done
• 28:18
  that with several of them already. In fact, we've already seen the reincarnation
• 28:25
  of a Shamel. He was that mysterious figure that appeared in Shadar Logoth and
• 28:30
  helped and he had helped Rand save Rand from Nashadhar. So his soul had

  Instead, he completely relies on the dark One's power, which is called

  the True Power. So the dark One's power is similar to the Creator's power,

  which is the True Source, except whereas a true Source is a force
• 29:26
  of light and creation, the True Power is a four force of darkness and
• 29:33
  destruction, and pretty much like the True Source, the Truth the True Power

  has a stimulant effect, so it is highly addictive. But it unlike the

  True Source, the True Power is even more addictive and uh it actually causes
• 29:55
  physical changes in your body. The most prevalent change that you will notice is
• 30:00
  the appearance of these black spots that move around. These black spots that appear
• 30:06
  on your eye. Mogetian calls them saw saa. That's how you spell it,

  sah. And the more you use the True Power, the more these
• 30:18
  little black spots begin to appear in your eye. And while they don't obscure
• 30:23
  your vision, they are very noticeable. And I think it's hinted that eventually

  the Saw will completely turn your eyes black. And while it's I'm not necessarily

  sure what other physical changes it causes to your body, it's hinted that it
• 30:42
  does have. Using the True Powers, there are consequences to using it,
• 30:48
  so it's hinting that it may cause further degradation of your body, unlike the
• 30:55
  Troof's force, which has more like health benefits, like it extends your life
• 31:02
  and it makes you feel more alive, which is where the addictive quality comes
• 31:07
  from the True Power is It's like the difference between taking weed and taking heroin.

  What a difference. Yeah, Heroin, Like yeah, it's like ooh,

  it's super addictive and it has like you know, it's I'm not entirely

  sure what the HyG is, Like I've never done Heroin and I'm not planning.

  impacts on your body, so it CAUs it causes a lot of detrimental changes

  finders more complex, more advanced weaves, pretty much learn teach them everything that

  they would learn as an accepted or as a novice. And also as part

  of the bargain, the wind finders would be free to come and go from

  the White Tower as they please. So if there was a specific weave or

  a specific piece of lore concerning the true source or the power, if they

  wanted to learn it, they could. They were free to go to the

  White Tower get the Isidie to teach them, to show them what it like

  which is a group of channelers that were former runaways or washouts from the

  Whites Tout. So the thing is, the Kin prided themselves of being a

  secret They thought they believed that the that the Isidi had no knowledge of them,

  and they would use their their little organization to help run away from the

  Tower to get away from the tower and to stay hidden from the Tower.

  And they would also take in the washouts as well and give them a place

  are responsible for a lot of the bad ship that happened in the White Tower.

  In fact, they've orchestrated the assassination of like dozens of ambulance seats yep,

  which actually revealed Suan revealed to Iguaine that in the secret histories of the

  White Tower, and particularly the ambulance Seat, there have been quite a number

  of ambulance seats that would just suddenly die out of nowhere, and she suspects

  that that was probably due to the Black Asia, like maybe that particular ambulance

  they did something that the Black Aja didn't like, so they made sure that

  is another method of unweaving an active weave, which is dangerous because when you

  do that, it's like you're pulling apart live wires and this can cause the

  weave to destabilize and explode, or you could burn out in the process,

  wise ones how to properly unweave an active an active weave, and by doing

  this this will remove any kind of residue left behind by the weave, making

  it basically making it undetectable, because a weave as powerful as a gateway will

  leave a residue that another handler can detect, an even reverse engineer. So

  and Avienda she had a suspicion that somebody maybe the black Ash or some other

  unfriendly force made try to follow them while they're trying to accomplish a mission,

  the by the wise ones, and this will help ensure that the gateway that

  the gateway weave does not fall into the wrong hands. So putting that aside,

  their group heads to the farm the appear. So the isid I freaks

  but the kin that came with them immediately quickly settle them down and tell them

  and she immediately begins directing the flow of power into the bowl of winds.

  And as she's doing this, she's leaving the appro create weaves for working the

  weather, and she describes it as basically a domino effect. What she's doing

  is setting things in motion. And while and once the ball's power goes into
• 1:04:13
  effect, it'll take some time for the weather to correct itself. But what
• 1:04:15
  they're doing right here and now is basically setting things in motion. So when

  she starts weaving power into the bowl, its subscribed at first as like a
• 1:04:28
  four point, like a three pointed star, and then it turns into a

  four and then five and increases all the way up past ten points. And

  as she's doing this, as she's weaving into the bowl. The power into

  the bowl, the images inside the bowl begin to change. It goes from

  a clear sunny day to a cloudy day, to a snowy day to a

  rainy days and lightning, and it keeps repeating itself in a cycle. Eventually,

  the power being pulled into the bowl, the power being shifted into the

  bowl hits a critical mass and the ball begins to draw power on its own.

  can see the Pillar of Light, and they're freaking out because they don't know

  what the hell is going on. UH. And unfortunately it's not just UH

  their allies and other UH and other good channelers that can see it, but

  it's also enemy channelers that can see it as well, and that includes the

  Soldam and the Demani from the Shan Chakhan. So while they're doing this,

  they don't realize that the Shan Shan have actually started their invasion of Abu Dhar

  oh God. So so there their forces made landfall in Abudar. They basically
• 1:08:04
  blitz the city because they quickly UH march into the city. The Demane do
• 1:08:11
  most of the work and make and they wipe out a vast majority of the
• 1:08:15
  Abu Daran forces. They quickly take control of the city and matt is Ah
• 1:08:24
  is pinned underneath the collapsed building and that's the last we hear of Matt until
• 1:08:30
  the next book. And from here UH they also notice the Bowl of wind
• 1:08:38
  the power coming from the Bowl of winds and they send scouts to the area
• 1:08:42
  and once the once they finished doing what they're doing, the Pillar of Light
• 1:08:46
  disappears. But they noticed the channelers all notice that it seems like, uh,
• 1:08:53
  the inspire area is just statuated with side with sidar. It's like the
• 1:08:59
  it's like the very errors charged with power. And once they're done, they

  noticed that there was a large flying animal kind of looks like a pterodactyl.

  It's called a rackin the Shan Shan used many different strange creatures and their horses,

  and one of them are these bird like creatures. They're massive that they

  use these creatures for scouting. And on the back of this creature is not

  only the pilot I guess you could say, but also a soldam and a

  demane they lead. They led the tracker to the scout to the farm where

  the event was taking place, and when they see it. When the chandlers

  see the large creature, Elaine and I Neive immediately point out that that is
• 1:09:49
  a Sean Shan Sean Schan scout and they need to attack it quickly before it
• 1:09:55
  goes back to report their location. There was more than one, and basically
• 1:10:00
  this huge group of chandlers all begin shooting a barage of fireballs at it.

  They actually managed to kill one of them, but the other one manages to
• 1:10:09
  escape and heads back to Abu Dhar, Elainea and I neive are freaking out
• 1:10:15
  that are like that was a sean Sean, what the fuck are they doing
• 1:10:17
  here? And that's when they notice that there's fires in the city. There's
• 1:10:25
  several miles away from it, but they can see like flashes of light and
• 1:10:29
  lightning uh definitely being created by the Demane and they know for a fact.

  They figure out that the shan Shan have invaded, so they immediately warn the
• 1:10:40
  rest of the Kin and the other and the wind finders that are with them
• 1:10:44
  that they need to leave because the Shntan will be sending a large course of
• 1:10:48
  Demaney and soldam to capture them. They're not going to kill them, They're
• 1:10:51
  going to capture them and they're gonna put them in collars. And while wind
• 1:10:58
  finders want to return to their boats, the iceid I quickly convinced them that
• 1:11:02
  there's no point because at this point their ships have either escaped the bay or
• 1:11:08
  they have been destroyed, and their wind finders have all been collared or killed
• 1:11:13
  oh no, So realizing that their only option is to escape with the Kin
• 1:11:19
  and the isid I, they quickly gather all their supplies and Elaine opens a
• 1:11:25
  gateway for all the kin isid Eye and wind finders to go through. Her
• 1:11:30
  gateway opens up into a countryside, into the countryside outside of one of her
• 1:11:35
  family's manners, so it's she's transporting them all to and Or, which is
• 1:11:42
  hundreds of miles away. They all go through and she Aveanda and her warder
• 1:11:48
  Bridget are the last ones to go through. And when they go through,
• 1:11:53
  Elaine tells the rest of the group to go head towards the manor. He's
• 1:11:59
  going to inser that this don cheng aren't able to follow them through and make
• 1:12:01
  sure that they're not able to detect the residue left behind from the gateway,
• 1:12:06
  and taking an example out of Avianda's book, she begins to unweave the active
• 1:12:13
  gateway. And the thing is, since she does not have the experience or
• 1:12:17
  the talent for unweaving UH for unweaving gateways just like Avienda does, when she
• 1:12:24
  begins to pull apart the individual thread threads from the gateway, they begin to
• 1:12:30
  spark and act like a live wire, which the UH. Elaine figured what's
• 1:12:39
  gonna happen. Since she doesn't know how to UH, she has no experience
• 1:12:43
  in unweaving a weave like that. Uh. She kind of wanted this to
• 1:12:49
  happen because, for one thing, it'll ensure that the Demane aren't able to
• 1:12:54
  reverse engineer the gateway weave, but it will also be in the nice little
• 1:13:00
  a nice little surprise for the shaun Sean when they show up, which they
• 1:13:03
  do, and upon seeing the open gateway, they immediately try to charge through
• 1:13:09
  it. Avianda and Brigitte begin firing like. Avianda begins firing a barrage of
• 1:13:16
  fireballs into the gateway, killing pretty much anything that tries to come through it.
• 1:13:23
  Bridgett shoots her arrows at any stragglers that try to come through. At
• 1:13:28
  one point, Avianda tires herself out. She quickly tires herself out because keeping
• 1:13:32
  up the barrage of like basically like a gatling gun of fireballs shooting shooting at
• 1:13:39
  once is very exhausting, so she isn't able to keep it up for very
• 1:13:43
  long. Brigitte begins to pick off any stragglers that come through the gateway.
• 1:13:48
  By this point, Elaine has pretty much unwoven most of the gateway. The
• 1:13:53
  only reason why it hasn't exploded or disappeared is because she's holding it together.
• 1:13:57
  For the most part, but now she's like, all right, we need
• 1:14:00
  to get the fuck out of here. So they get on their horses,
• 1:14:03
  or rather Bridget slings her slings her over her horse, and they all ride
• 1:14:10
  out of the area. The Sean Chuan begin to pour through the gateway,
• 1:14:14
  including a pair of soldan and demane, and they can see Elaine actively channeling,
• 1:14:20
  so the soldan commands her demane to shield Elaine, and since Elaine is
• 1:14:26
  already at the ends of her wits, speaks uh. She's already exhausted from
• 1:14:31
  her from keeping the gateway open as well as un leaving it. Uh.
• 1:14:35
  The demane is able to successfully field her. But little did they know,
• 1:14:41
  Elaine's power was the only thing holding that gateway together. So as soon as
• 1:14:45
  as the demane shield slams into place arounds Elaine, it cuts off her connection
• 1:14:51
  to the source and the gateway fully destabilizes and it explodes like a Mother of
• 1:14:59
  all blonde uh bombs, Mother of all bombs, God blombs, blombs,
• 1:15:04
  Mother of all blombs. So this creates a massive fireball that incinerates everything within
• 1:15:13
  a few hundred within a few hundred feets of the feet of the gateway,
• 1:15:18
  and this is on both sides of the gateway. So this explosion actually terrifies
• 1:15:25
  the Sean Shan because they're the inspired force that they sent to capture all these
• 1:15:30
  channelers. They all get wiped out. Elaine, Aveanda, and Burdett almost
• 1:15:35
  get killed. They get they certainly get knocked on their asses from the explosion,
• 1:15:40
  but they survive and they make it to the manor where the rest of
• 1:15:45
  the group is hidden and on back in Edbu Dhar. The Sean Shan investigate
• 1:15:50
  the explosion site, and while they don't realize that it was caused by a
• 1:15:54
  destabilized gateway, they believe They come to the conclusion that it's that it may
• 1:16:00
  be some sort of secret weapon created by the Isida, which should give them
• 1:16:05
  pause in the in their future conflict with the Isid. Eye. From here,
• 1:16:12
  Elaine travels with this large group to Camelin, where she immediately kicks out
• 1:16:16
  all of Rand's forces. So the ail the Saldean forces led by Davrein Bashir
• 1:16:25
  and pretty much any any non Andoran forces. She kicks them out of the
• 1:16:30
  city and she says she's and she declares that she's going to begin the process
• 1:16:36
  of claiming her rightful place on the throne of Camelin, the lion throne of
• 1:16:42
  Camelin. So this is a it's basically like a presidential race. Even though
• 1:16:48
  Elaine is the crown, is the daughter heir of Camelin, she that doesn't
• 1:16:57
  ensure she has the right to the throne. It right to the throne.
• 1:17:01
  So what she has to do she has to garner support from the other houses
• 1:17:08
  of Camelin, the nobility throughout and scattered throughout, and or she has to
• 1:17:13
  gather their support. Unfortunately for her, because of her mother, who even
• 1:17:20
  though she thinks is dead, is still alive but currently on the run for
• 1:17:26
  the shaun Chahn as well, her mother had actually broke ties with all of
• 1:17:34
  her former allies. She ostracized them and basically made it clear she wants something
• 1:17:41
  to do with her former allies. But it wasn't her fault. She was
• 1:17:44
  being compelled by Robin when he was still in control of Camelin. But still
• 1:17:49
  the rest of the nobility don't really well. They know that Lord Gabriel was
• 1:17:55
  actually the forsaken Robin, still doesn't change the fact that Morgeese had allowed herself
• 1:18:00
  to become enamored by Robin and she basically burnt bridges with all her former allies.
• 1:18:08
  So now Elaine is forced to pick up the pieces, the scattered pieces
• 1:18:13
  that her mother left behind. And it's gonna be hard because she has little
• 1:18:17
  to no support from the other houses. There's a few houses that do support
• 1:18:21
  her. There's one particular house that supports her wholeheartedly, but the thing is
• 1:18:27
  the rest of the major houses of and Or support that person instead. But
• 1:18:34
  still Elaine has to make her make her case. She has to start begin
• 1:18:43
  doing things around the city as well as for the rest of and Or.
• 1:18:46
  You know, basically, promises have to be made. She has to make
• 1:18:50
  changes. She has to like follow through with her promises, figure out ways
• 1:18:56
  to increase her resources and increase revenue and taxes all this other political shit,
• 1:19:03
  and it's really not easy. She also has to navigate other political plots.
• 1:19:10
  At one point, several like it's not uncommon for during a secession a succession
• 1:19:19
  race for noble houses to kidnap potential candidates from other noble houses and hold them
• 1:19:27
  captive until they relinquish their rights to the throne. And at one point,
• 1:19:34
  Elaine is almost kidnapped by rival houses. They almost kidnap her by poisoning her
• 1:19:42
  with a type of herb. It's like a fork rout herb. It doesn't
• 1:19:47
  poison her particularly, it's more of like a very powerful sedative. And what
• 1:19:51
  makes them very effective is because it also works very effectively on channelers because it
• 1:19:59
  prevents them from when they're drunk by it. But thankfully, her bodyguards were
• 1:20:05
  able to stop any attempt. That was able to stop the attempt, and
• 1:20:11
  she was fine. But pretty much the rest of the book is just her
• 1:20:15
  trying to pick up the pieces from where her mother of what her mother left
• 1:20:19
  her, and she's also trying to undo that some of the things that Raan
• 1:20:24
  had done, because while Ran had good intentions, it's not really the way
• 1:20:29
  things are run in Kaitlin, and tradition demands that Elaine set things right and
• 1:20:38
  until she is successfully she until she is successful in taking the lion throne and
• 1:20:45
  wearing the Rose crown, she's not going to accept any kind of foreign aid.
• 1:20:49
  So for now, the a Eel are forced to stay outside of the
• 1:20:54
  city. Davon Bashir's forces have to keep to their camps outside of the city
• 1:20:59
  as well, and she won't accept their help at all because accepting foreign aid
• 1:21:03
  is a really bad way to take the throne in and or so from here,

  that's pretty much it we want. That's pretty much it for Elaine's story.

  We're gonna talk a little bit about Parent real fast. So Paren following

  Rand's part of one of Rand's planned plans is quote unquote exiled from from Kyrine

  because publicly Rand and Paren had a falling out and Rand banishes in. But

  it's all really a part of Rand's plan because what Rand wants Paren to do
• 1:21:46
  now that Ilian has been captured by Ran, he wants Paren to head east
• 1:21:53
  to Altara Galdian and I believe Mirandi and some part he wants he wants Parent
• 1:22:00
  to go and seek out the prophet of the Dragon. See up until this
• 1:22:05
  point, h a character that was introduced in book one and book two,
• 1:22:12
  a guy named Massema. He had traveled with Wren and his hunt for the
• 1:22:17
  for the Horn of the Leader, but in book three they had gone their
• 1:22:21
  separate ways, and while they were the I'm sorry the Saladar, the Saladar
• 1:22:31
  soldiers that traveled with them were supposed to return to their homeland. Sty didn't
• 1:22:35
  all make it back, and Massma he had become this religious zealot preaching the
• 1:22:43
  coming of the Dragon reborn, and he began calling himself the prophet of the
• 1:22:46
  Dragon. And the think about Mastema is that he is batshit crazy. He
• 1:22:50
  is completely insane, and he is he he's living in Delul. He thinks
• 1:23:00
  rand is this divine figure, this prophesized Messiah. I mean, he kind
• 1:23:05
  of is, but that's beside the point. And he began stirring up a
• 1:23:11
  lot of trouble in Amadisha al Taa and Mirandi and Galdia, and he started
• 1:23:20
  getting support from the common people. He started inciting uprisings riots. People who
• 1:23:29
  follow Massima as the prophet, they themselves become like very zealous in their beliefs
• 1:23:35
  and the Dragon reborn. They began raiding the countryside. They start riots in
• 1:23:44
  some of the major cities, and while the military forces of these countries try
• 1:23:50
  to suppress them, they're very largely unsuccessful because there's a lot a lot of
• 1:23:55
  them are just common people, and well there's more common people than there are
• 1:23:59
  soldiers. And since these people are religious zealous, pretty much, they have
• 1:24:04
  little to no regard for their own life, for their own safety, so
• 1:24:09
  they fight with that same kind of religious fever. So they're very difficult to
• 1:24:14
  deal with. And Rn became aware of mis Semma's actions, and he became
• 1:24:24
  aware of his actions, and he wanted Paren to go east and track down
• 1:24:29
  miss Sema and try to get him, to try to get him under control.
• 1:24:35
  So that's what Parent ends up doing. He spent h he spends his
• 1:24:40
  time tracking down mi Sema and he does eventually find him, but he doesn't
• 1:24:46
  really get far with him. He talks to Missema for a bit and Massema
• 1:24:55
  he realizes, oh yeah, miss Semma's this dude, this fool is crazy.

  M mm hmm yeah. Uh. Not much else happens with him.

  There's more that happens in book nine, but it's kind of really like more

  focused on Rand and Elaine. The next couple of books ran in Elaine and

  then in the next book, Matt becomes a part of the huge focus.

  So he's alive, but he doesn't have that much of a big role in

  is now the king of Ilian. Uh. He accepted the Laurel Crown,

  which Ran now calls the Crown of Swords, and he's working hard to secure

  his secure as hold on Ilien. Uh. He of course begins enforcing his

  own laws that he set up in Tier and Uh. He begins moving his

  forces around and he's preparing for his next confrontation and it's not with the Forsaken,
• 1:26:09
  but it's with the shan Chahan. Because now Rand is aware that the
• 1:26:14
  shan Chan have not only invaded ten Chico but has also not only invaded Ten
• 1:26:20
  Chico and Amaditia, but is also taken over at Udar. And this is
• 1:26:26
  concerning for Yeah, this is concerning for Rand because he doesn't yet know that
• 1:26:30
  Elaine has already escaped, but he thinks, but he knows that the shan
• 1:26:34
  Chan are a big threat, especially with their especially with their force of enslaved
• 1:26:42
  channelers. But Rand has a planned. Rand has a plan. But either
• 1:26:48
  way, Rand spends a good portion of his time in Ilian preparing his forces,
• 1:26:54
  getting everything ready. He sends his forces an Ilien to their to the
• 1:26:59
  eastern border to begin securing it and keeping it ready in case the Sean Chean
• 1:27:03
  decides to make them their move west. Because right now the best. Since
• 1:27:09
  the shan Chan have a very powerful navy, Uh, they're going to be
• 1:27:13
  focusing a lot of their attention on coastal countries. So right now, the
• 1:27:17
  next two countries that is on their on their list would be Ilian and eventually
• 1:27:24
  Tier. So Rand begins preparing Ilian. After a while, he decides to
• 1:27:30
  go back to Kyrine because he feels that his plans in Ilien have been set
• 1:27:35
  in motion. He's gotten everything ready, so now he needs to go take
• 1:27:39
  care of other matters back in Kyrine. Uh. He goes to Kyrine and
• 1:27:45
  uh see throughout this U throughout Rand's story in this book, Ran is beginning
• 1:27:49
  to suffer the more adverse physical effects of the corrupted males half the Source.
• 1:27:57
  So before Rand would experiences when whenever he'd embrace Sidon Uh Ran could sit can
• 1:28:06
  sense the pure, life giving power of Sidan, but he could also feel
• 1:28:14
  that the corruption that has tainted the Source. All right, So the way
• 1:28:19
  it's described is Sidan is like a vast ocean of power. While it itself
• 1:28:26
  remains pure, the taint is like a thin layer of oil sitting on the
• 1:28:31
  very top of the ocean. And in order to reach in order to touch
• 1:28:35
  Sidan, you have to touch the taint as well. You have to like
• 1:28:39
  you have to like go through the taint to reach the pure energy of Sidan.

  And so whenever Ran would embrace the Source, he's not only drawing in
• 1:28:47
  the power of the male half of the through sores, but he's also pulling
• 1:28:51
  in that taint as well. And before he just felt like he just left

  him with this sense of uncleanliness and just like ick, just ick, and

  here in there he'll experience like isolated waves of dizzeyness and nausea. But now

  throughout this book, anytime he embraces the Source, he is experiencing extreme bouts

  of vertigo, dizziness, and extreme nausea. In fact, it has gotten

  to the point where Ren has to embrace the source well before he actually needs
• 1:29:30
  to use it, so that way he can fight through that extreme wave of
• 1:29:35
  dizziest, dizzeyness and nausea. And he goes back to King Win because he
• 1:29:44
  needs he needs to try to convince a particular isid I to join his team,
• 1:29:49
  and that isid I is kat Swain. Eligrin kat Swain was introduced in
• 1:29:54
  the previous book and the thing is Katswayne has for the most part, refused
• 1:30:00
  used to work with him. She came to Well, she came to Cameln
• 1:30:03
  I'm sorry to Kyrie too to join him. But she's basically playing hard to

  get because Wren made a very bad impression on her, and she also realized
• 1:30:15
  that she's not going to get anywhere with him because after the events of dom
• 1:30:19
  as Well, Ran really doesn't trust the Eyes Tod Eye, because you know
• 1:30:25
  that kind of happens when you get stuffed into a box and tortured on a
• 1:30:28
  daily basis. So she has to kind of work. She has to kind

  of find a way to not only get him to trust her, but she
• 1:30:39
  also is trying to get she's also working to get him to respect her.

  So she's she's going to eventually help him, but he's going to learn how

  to he's going to learn how to mind his manners around her, and he's

  going to need to learn how to play nice as well. So he's trying

  to convince her. He's also beginning to make plans to cleanse the Source because

  he knows that he's running out of time. He's at this point he's been

  channeling almost NonStop for two years now, and the last false dragon that went
• 1:31:18
  mad, Logan Ablar, lasted two years before he went completely insane. So
• 1:31:29
  Wren knows he's running out of time. So he is, it's hinting it
• 1:31:34
  here and here and there. What he's planning on doing. He's going to
• 1:31:40
  he is preparing for a confrontation with the Shan Shan, and he's also preparing
• 1:31:51
  He's also preparing to cleanse the source from the tank. And the way he's
• 1:31:59
  going to do that is he's going to use a pair of ron gril called

  access keys. These access keys will allow him to tap in to the most
• 1:32:09
  powerful so agri al ever created in the Age of Legends, the Children Call

  Now. I talked about the Children Call a little bit in the last couple

  of episodes, especially in episode four and episode seven, because these sore all

  gathers his army, and then he also goes to the Black Tower, which

  the Demani began lashing out in fear, saying like no, don't follow

  me. They would freak out and started attacking indiscriminately. Uh So they were

  forced to like collar them again and keep them on their leash until they can
• 2:00:44
  rehabilitate them. And in fact, uh that one Demani mentioned earlier, Olivia,

  was one of the ones that they captured in this uh in their uh
• 2:00:55
  in their campaign. So they actually captured maybe about a dozen demane. Well,

  actually no, they captured five successfully. The rest they had to kill
• 2:01:09
  because they were too combative, like soldam would rather die than be captured,

  and the demane are well y are very conditioned into the same mentality. And

  also if you kill soldam while she's wearing the bracelet, the Demani will suffer

  them, and he wait. He also tries to avoid as many of his

  spear maidens as possible because he doesn't want to involve him in this fight.

  And I can't blame him. This is a fight between channelers, and his

  spear maidens aren't going to be able to do much against them, so he

  manages to corner the three of them and he attacks them. He doesn't manage

  to kill them, and they don't manage to kill him, but they do

  cause a lot of damage in the in the palace itself. The thing is

  this causes in the aftermath of this fight, a lot of rumors begin to

  spread throughout Tiring that Rand has lost his mind and has succumbed to the madness.
