- 0:08Speaker 1: Hey, this is Sal Sparks from the Magnum Opus, Dude,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Where's My Car? And you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:16Speaker 2: It's showtime.
- 0:17Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:20Speaker 3: Picture Association of America.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Off the record, I'm the QT, and very hush-hush.
- 1:17Speaker 1: You know what's going on.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I can't believe I'm sitting here in footy, like, nerd
- 1:22Speaker 5: gym shoes.
- 1:23Speaker 1: That's what we're going for. Special movie nerd action.
- 1:27Speaker 5: I literally have sweat on me still from the gym.
- 1:30Speaker 5: I'm like, yeah, yeah, five works.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I'll be fine. That's what the listeners are into.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 1: They're into the gym sweat. I know what people want. Right?
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean, I'm hoping you go on stage like that.
- 1:41Speaker 5: At least I keep it real and you know that.
- 1:42Speaker 5: At least I'm not trying to impress you too much.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Does anybody... Well, I don't want you to take offense.
- 1:47Speaker 5: To that, though, because if somebody doesn't... I'm not not trying.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I'm just.
- 1:52Speaker 1: No, I think I prefer that, especially on this show.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Okay, good.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We're as relaxed and conversational as we can possibly be.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Right in front of somebody's hotel room.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And that's it. Tough luck room 128.
- 2:02Speaker 6: You came to the wrong place.
- 2:06Speaker 5: You wanted a corner room, and sorry.
- 2:09Speaker 1: We're here doing our thing. We have stuff to do.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You're almost as... bad off as the Maggard Cain wedding,
- 2:16Speaker 1: which is where... Did you find out what the names were?
- 2:18Speaker 7: Yes, I did.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Are you kidding me?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Maggard Cain? Maggard?
- 2:22Speaker 6: Coming to you live via digital recording from the Maggard
- 2:24Speaker 6: Cain wedding. Jessamay and I have decided to crash this
- 2:27Speaker 6: wedding and bust up this hotel room.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Is it really Maggard Cain? Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 5: God, Maggard is so bad. You took a picture of it.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I knew I was going to forget. Maggard Cain.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I mean, that sounds like a physical ailment from like
- 2:44Speaker 5: the 1800s. He just got riddled with the Maggard cane.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Mom, I don't know how to tell you this. Got
- 2:50Speaker 1: Maggard cane. Six months to live. What the Maggard?
- 2:56Speaker 5: God, I hope he's cane. I hope he's cane.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Well, I mean, then they're just going to end up
- 3:01Speaker 1: killing somebody. Probably a family member. Yes. I mean.
- 3:04Speaker 5: What if her name is Maggie and his last name
- 3:06Speaker 5: is Maggard?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Maggie Maggard. She's the newest sensation. Built-in porn star. Well,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I was thinking the newest sensation in country music, Maggie Maggard. Oh, okay, yeah, no,
- 3:15Speaker 1: you're right.
- 3:15Speaker 5: She's a reformed porn star turned country sensation.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I like that we have backstory. We have backstory. If
- 3:23Speaker 1: you're going to break into country, you've got to have
- 3:25Speaker 1: horrible backstory.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Listen, I came from a really tough upbringing. And my
- 3:30Speaker 5: father left me, and I found, most people would find God.
- 3:33Speaker 5: I found dick.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I found porn.
- 3:35Speaker 5: I found penis.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It done saved my life.
- 3:37Speaker 5: It done saved my life.
- 3:38Speaker 1: We've already fallen right into the bad accents.
- 3:43Speaker 5: I went right from the dick to the Lord. All right, y'all,
- 3:45Speaker 5: this is my new track off of my debut album.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I hope that's on a t-shirt for you at the table.
- 3:51Speaker 1: From dick to the Lord. We've gotten right into this.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Why waste time?
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 5: I'm following your lead.
- 4:02Speaker 1: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. Joining
- 4:05Speaker 1: me this week, Miss Jessamay, I guess.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Give them the whole rundown, because it's rare that I
- 4:12Speaker 6: find somebody that does a thing anymore.
- 4:14Speaker 1: A thing. I mean, there used to be like, hi,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'm a singer. And now it's like, well.
- 4:20Speaker 6: I do stand up, but I'm working on this show idea.
- 4:22Speaker 6: And then sometimes I have to run the screen printer
- 4:25Speaker 6: that does my T-shirts. And then every other Thursday I
- 4:27Speaker 6: run sandwiches for this place. I mean, everybody kind of
- 4:30Speaker 6: has to do 14 jobs now. So I guess what
- 4:34Speaker 6: all do you pitch at this point for people?
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not making sandwiches anymore. Well, that's because I
- 4:41Speaker 5: stopped today at 4 p.m. Yeah, just because I clocked out.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You made that big pile of sandwiches in that catering
- 4:47Speaker 1: room over there.
- 4:48Speaker 5: You see all that sliced meat?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Damn straight.
- 4:49Speaker 5: I see why I'm balling it. That's what we came
- 4:52Speaker 5: to this wedding for.
- 4:52Speaker 1: No, I'm a stand-up. I'm a stand-up. I mean, I
- 4:55Speaker 1: do do. I do do. It's once in a while
- 4:57Speaker 1: when you say that. We're also four years old.
- 4:59Speaker 5: When you say I do do.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Four years old.
- 5:00Speaker 5: I also do.
- 5:01Speaker 1: In addition to my do.
- 5:04Speaker 5: In addition to do-dos, I just do-do to my pants.
- 5:08Speaker 5: I am also pitching shows. You know, you got to
- 5:11Speaker 5: diversify in this career. You can't just do one thing.
- 5:13Speaker 5: You got to do a few. You've got to do
- 5:15Speaker 5: a few well. You can't do many not well. You
- 5:18Speaker 5: can't spread yourself too thin.
- 5:20Speaker 6: I feel like there's still a lot of them out there.
- 5:22Speaker 1: There's a lot of them. I keep seeing them.
- 5:23Speaker 5: You have to have a couple niches where you really excel,
- 5:25Speaker 5: and then you can just sort of trickle down a
- 5:27Speaker 5: little bit. So, you know, I'm doing the podcasting thing.
- 5:30Speaker 5: I'm doing the stand-up on the road. Pitching the shows.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Been writing a book for two years. Also trying to
- 5:37Speaker 5: find zen moments. which is code for marijuana smoking.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I was going to say, that also comes into your fountains.
- 5:45Speaker 1: That's a new code.
- 5:47Speaker 5: I found the perfect recipe for a pre-show meal.
- 5:51Speaker 7: All right.
- 5:52Speaker 5: I mean a pre-workout meal, not a pre-show meal. Pre-workout meal,
- 5:55Speaker 5: because you literally just came and I just left the gym.
- 5:57Speaker 7: All right.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You have a cup of coffee. I can do that.
- 6:01Speaker 5: And then smoke a little weed.
- 6:02Speaker 1: That's not a good idea for me.
- 6:04Speaker 5: You focus and you have the energy. And then you
- 6:07Speaker 5: really get in. You think about your muscles working out
- 6:10Speaker 5: because you're so high. You're like, I can feel my
- 6:12Speaker 5: muscles tearing. But I think that mental concentration to the
- 6:15Speaker 5: physical embodiment really gets you a good workout.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Can I just think about it and not do any
- 6:21Speaker 1: of this?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Okay. And have like a pot of coffee instead of
- 6:25Speaker 1: the cup.
- 6:25Speaker 5: How about pot and coffee? Has anyone combined those two sayings?
- 6:30Speaker 1: A pot of coffee? I'm sure some.
- 6:32Speaker 6: I mean, there's every little indie artist and grinder in
- 6:35Speaker 6: the world is making their own special coffee blend now.
- 6:37Speaker 1: There has to be one.
- 6:39Speaker 5: I'm going to buy the domain, and if anybody takes it,
- 6:41Speaker 5: this idea, I mean, I understand, and it's totally easy
- 6:44Speaker 5: to steal ideas, so go ahead. Congratulations.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Don't think I haven't immediately stopped recording and then went
- 6:51Speaker 6: and bought a domain for something stupid I just said.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I have more domains than I.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Do you have a lot of domains? Okay. Has anyone
- 6:58Speaker 5: ever bought one off of you?
- 6:59Speaker 1: No.
- 7:00Speaker 6: I remember early on somebody tried to sell me one
- 7:03Speaker 6: because I, again, this is why now you have to
- 7:06Speaker 6: jump on the dot coms.
- 7:07Speaker 5: You have to jump.
- 7:08Speaker 1: There's 400 other dot SEs and 400 other little weird
- 7:11Speaker 1: variants that nobody wants. Nobody wants to go to that.
- 7:14Speaker 5: No one's doing dot net.
- 7:15Speaker 1: You just, you get dot net.
- 7:16Speaker 5: No one's doing dot EU.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I had a dot org too and everybody just went.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I have a dot org.
- 7:20Speaker 7: Dot org.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I had to buy a.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Org.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well, you always do just to cover your bases at
- 7:24Speaker 1: this point. But I had one that I was using
- 7:27Speaker 1: and people were like, what are you, a charity? And
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm losing money. Does that count?
- 7:32Speaker 6: Yes.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But yeah, I bought so many over the years. But
- 7:37Speaker 1: at one point I had the. net and the. org,
- 7:39Speaker 1: but I didn't jump on the. com.
- 7:41Speaker 6: And then I had somebody send me this random email,
- 7:44Speaker 6: which you get about 14 a week if you own.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Coms.
- 7:46Speaker 6: They're constantly trying to get you to update and renew
- 7:49Speaker 6: through a company that's not the one that you go
- 7:51Speaker 6: through it's scams it's all scam but this one was
- 7:54Speaker 6: some dude who owned the dot-com and was trying to
- 7:57Speaker 6: get me to buy it and was going to give
- 7:59Speaker 6: me a bargain price of i think it was a
- 8:01Speaker 6: little under a grand i'm.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Like you know i'm not a corporation yeah do you
- 8:06Speaker 5: understand what my life is like right now my.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Last name isn't mcdonald yeah like i don't i don't think.
- 8:10Speaker 5: This is the home of the golden arches.
- 8:13Speaker 6: I'm working on a shoestring budget at best. So the
- 8:16Speaker 6: fact that they want to, and I thought about it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It is the dot com. I mean, I could go
- 8:21Speaker 1: in the hole for a dot com, but.
- 8:23Speaker 5: It's legit.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So we've gotten to a website sales pitch here. I'm
- 8:27Speaker 1: not sure how we ventured into that.
- 8:29Speaker 5: So somebody just really reconsider if you're going to steal
- 8:32Speaker 5: any of our ideas. Buy some of our donames. Donames?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Donames?
- 8:37Speaker 5: Domains.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Domains.com. Wait a minute. Jump on that.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Oh, my God. I just had a dyslexic moment that
- 8:43Speaker 5: turned into a perfect domain name.
- 8:46Speaker 1: It's catchy.
- 8:47Speaker 5: I think my pot of coffee still kicked in.
- 8:50Speaker 6: We're saying it's a pot of coffee. I heard your plan.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I don't know about that.
- 8:54Speaker 5: You know what's up.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I think I know. You know exactly what's going on.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Aside from your business plan, what else? I'm right there
- 9:06Speaker 1: with you.
- 9:06Speaker 7: It's okay.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So what else have you?
- 9:10Speaker 6: I guess I usually at least give somebody an entryway
- 9:12Speaker 6: into comedy if that's their thing. If you're sick of
- 9:16Speaker 6: the whole history story, do you want.
- 9:18Speaker 1: To pick up?
- 9:18Speaker 5: I'm not sick of anything. This is your show.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Oh, no. We have to talk about Syracuse, don't we?
- 9:23Speaker 7: Oh, gosh.
- 9:24Speaker 5: You ask me and ask and you shall receive. All right.
- 9:27Speaker 1: How did you escape from Syracuse?
- 9:29Speaker 5: A boy.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Oh, I see. You latch on to those.
- 9:33Speaker 5: I was 18 years old dating a fella named Randall Wooten,
- 9:36Speaker 5: who's still a friend of mine.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Is he your Facebook friend?
- 9:38Speaker 5: I think we're Facebook. Yeah, we're Facebook friends. Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 1: You can pull that off usually. I've known him for years.
- 9:43Speaker 5: And he was from Syracuse living in Boston.
- 9:46Speaker 1: And, you know, we were dating.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Cute kids. And then I was like, I think I
- 9:50Speaker 5: want to leave this town because if I don't, I'm
- 9:53Speaker 5: afraid I'm going to be a mother of four from
- 9:56Speaker 5: nine different men. The math doesn't add up, but that's
- 9:58Speaker 5: how Syracuse rolls.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I like that you have high standards for yourself.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Yeah, hashtag methamphetamines. So I just, I wanted more out
- 10:06Speaker 5: of life, I think.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I wanted stuff. People with goals. I had goals. God.
- 10:11Speaker 5: I just wanted more. I didn't want to, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 5: Syracuse Chiefs couldn't be it for me.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Really? Are you sure? It's a real team.
- 10:19Speaker 5: I think it's Toronto Blue Jays farm team still.
- 10:22Speaker 1: All right.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Do you know anything about sports?
- 10:24Speaker 7: Who cares?
- 10:25Speaker 1: There are things I don't pay attention to?
- 10:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I've watched basketball, but I live here.
- 10:29Speaker 5: Are you high right now or are you always like this?
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm always like this is a sad thing.
- 10:33Speaker 6: I really don't even go that way because as I've
- 10:36Speaker 6: said recently, I don't need drugs to mess up my life.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I can do that all on my own.
- 10:41Speaker 5: You're doing the wrong drugs if you think they mess
- 10:43Speaker 5: up your life. Did you not hear me? I did 37,000
- 10:45Speaker 5: squats yesterday.
- 10:48Speaker 6: I think you were just sitting on the floor and
- 10:50Speaker 6: thought you'd do 30 seconds. And there's an entire group
- 10:54Speaker 6: of groomsmen going, what's wrong with her, dude?
- 10:56Speaker 1: And they poked you with a stick at some point like,
- 10:58Speaker 1: she's still breathing. With groomsmen. I was working out.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Not working out with groomsmen.
- 11:05Speaker 1: That's what we're calling it now.
- 11:06Speaker 5: They were walking through the gym and I was doing squats. Like,
- 11:09Speaker 5: fuck it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I have to work out.
- 11:11Speaker 5: What do you want from me? Do you swear on
- 11:13Speaker 5: this podcast?
- 11:13Speaker 1: As often as possible.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Okay, good, good. Because some people don't like that. And
- 11:16Speaker 5: I just want to make sure I'm not crossing any
- 11:18Speaker 5: lines here.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I occasionally venture into that. But I encourage the guest
- 11:21Speaker 1: to do it as much as possible.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Cool, because I'm a little bit of a potty mouth.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I never would have guessed. Do you know they did a.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Clinical study of two different groups of people? One group
- 11:30Speaker 5: of people did a workout. The other group of people
- 11:33Speaker 5: didn't do the workout. They thought about it and watched
- 11:36Speaker 5: people doing the workout. The same workout that the one
- 11:38Speaker 5: group actually was doing. And... the group that wasn't working
- 11:42Speaker 5: out had very similar muscular and physical effects as a
- 11:47Speaker 5: group that was physically working out.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I want a placebo workout.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:51Speaker 1: That's what I'm looking for.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Me being high, thinking about the 37,000 squats.
- 11:55Speaker 6: So if I just watch those infomercials late at night
- 11:57Speaker 6: and see all those other people doing all this, because
- 12:00Speaker 6: it always seems like a good idea when they're like,
- 12:02Speaker 6: order these 15 DVDs.
- 12:03Speaker 1: And then like, yeah, that's all it takes, right? You
- 12:06Speaker 1: just order them.
- 12:06Speaker 5: And then you're ripped. And they throw something in for free.
- 12:09Speaker 1: They throw something in free? A water bottle. You get
- 12:11Speaker 1: a free water bottle.
- 12:12Speaker 5: You get a free couple of pins?
- 12:13Speaker 6: Probably.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Your lapel needs a little decoration.
- 12:16Speaker 1: It's a little bare these days, but you know. Nothing
- 12:18Speaker 1: like a bare lapel. Shoestring, you know. It's a shoestring budget.
- 12:21Speaker 6: What do you want?
- 12:21Speaker 5: Shoestring budget. Where did that term come from?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Do you know? It's like one of those weird frats.
- 12:26Speaker 6: You have to tie your shoestrings together when you're so
- 12:28Speaker 6: broke you can't afford to buy new shoestrings.
- 12:31Speaker 5: You think so?
- 12:31Speaker 1: That's my guess. That's really good. That's my hobo guess. Because,
- 12:34Speaker 1: you know, hobos, they're living on the hard times. It's
- 12:37Speaker 1: because it seems like it dates back. I'm going to
- 12:38Speaker 1: guess To the bindle days, you know.
- 12:40Speaker 5: I'm going to guess it's people who couldn't even afford shoestrings.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Eating their boot. That's the really old... That's the really
- 12:47Speaker 1: old school.
- 12:48Speaker 5: I like the way you say boot.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Boot.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Hobos having boot stew.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Boots.
- 12:51Speaker 1: So, that's what we've gotten to.
- 12:53Speaker 5: That's good.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I like that. So, you escaped.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I escaped Syracuse. I got the F out.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I go back and visit. I feel like we're going
- 13:02Speaker 1: to tangent a lot. But I'm trying to... You can tangent.
- 13:04Speaker 5: You stay. You keep us on track.
- 13:05Speaker 7: Okay.
- 13:06Speaker 2: So.
- 13:07Speaker 1: What made comedy be the thing? I don't know.
- 13:11Speaker 5: I mean, there's a lot of things that happened in
- 13:13Speaker 5: my childhood and as a young woman, I think, that
- 13:15Speaker 5: led to my brain.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Going towards that.
- 13:17Speaker 7: These are the horror stories.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Oh, wait a minute. Yeah, that's why I'm into horror
- 13:19Speaker 5: stories because of the horror stories that happened to me.
- 13:22Speaker 5: But I was living in Boston and I was working
- 13:25Speaker 5: in a stockroom in H & M. And this kid
- 13:28Speaker 5: one day was like, you're funny. You should try stand-up.
- 13:30Speaker 5: And up until that point, I didn't even know I
- 13:33Speaker 5: could do that as a career.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 6: I think that's that defining moment for most people that
- 13:39Speaker 6: go into comedy.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Like, wait, wait, wait.
- 13:41Speaker 6: You can get paid for this? I mean, not for years,
- 13:43Speaker 6: but you can get paid for this eventually?
- 13:45Speaker 5: It's something you can actually embark on and take it seriously.
- 13:48Speaker 5: So I was like, okay. And I wrote for like
- 13:51Speaker 5: six months with this little stand-up comedy writing group that
- 13:56Speaker 5: was taught by this guy, Neeraj Thule, who ended up
- 13:59Speaker 5: being the curator of this improv troupe that I was
- 14:03Speaker 5: a part of for a couple years. And then I
- 14:05Speaker 5: just found stand-up through that.
- 14:09Speaker 6: I was going to say, do you still enjoy it?
- 14:11Speaker 6: You're still doing it, obviously. I'm just going from my
- 14:14Speaker 6: angle because I see it a lot more, especially these days.
- 14:17Speaker 6: I end up going to see a lot of stand-up,
- 14:19Speaker 6: and I enjoy people doing it when they're on. It
- 14:24Speaker 6: is an amazing thing. And then I look around the
- 14:27Speaker 6: room at the rest of the idiots that showed up,
- 14:29Speaker 6: and I'm just like, I don't want to entertain these people.
- 14:31Speaker 6: I just feel bad for you guys sometimes because I'm like,
- 14:34Speaker 6: sometimes the biggest idiots show up and i'm like you
- 14:38Speaker 6: still have to put this a game out there and
- 14:40Speaker 6: like i think i i realized that just doing like
- 14:43Speaker 6: live events for the show and i'm like after a
- 14:45Speaker 6: while i'd look at this table of people that showed
- 14:46Speaker 6: up and be like i could care less if i
- 14:47Speaker 6: entertain you i'm like the people listening at home is
- 14:51Speaker 6: that's important i worry about that but like some idiot
- 14:53Speaker 6: that wandered out that doesn't know who you are and
- 14:55Speaker 6: isn't really there for what you're doing and is busy
- 14:58Speaker 6: making their own wisecracks.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Like But, you know, the thing with that is that
- 15:03Speaker 5: I see that point of view, but on the flip side,
- 15:06Speaker 5: if there are people who are heckling or people come
- 15:08Speaker 5: out like that, one of two things is going to happen.
- 15:10Speaker 5: You're either going to connect with them or you don't.
- 15:12Speaker 5: So you have a 50% shot at getting them on board.
- 15:16Speaker 5: And sometimes that percentage wavers a little bit more depending
- 15:19Speaker 5: on the night and how you're doing and with the whole,
- 15:21Speaker 5: you know, how the cosmos has lined up for you.
- 15:24Speaker 1: But I love.
- 15:25Speaker 5: A challenge. That being said, I'm not encouraging it.
- 15:28Speaker 1: No, no.
- 15:29Speaker 5: But when it presents itself in a natural moment, I'm like, okay,
- 15:32Speaker 5: let's see if the years of work I've put in
- 15:34Speaker 5: are going to pay off right here.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I like that take on it, though. Yeah, I think
- 15:37Speaker 1: I don't want that challenge. Maybe I'm gearing towards something else.
- 15:41Speaker 5: Yeah, because it can get mundane. I mean, it can
- 15:43Speaker 5: get a little monotonous doing stand-up sometimes. And it's important
- 15:47Speaker 5: to find those moments where you are, you know, you're
- 15:50Speaker 5: just recalibrated into, oh, this is why I'm doing this.
- 15:56Speaker 5: You've got to smack yourself in the face once in
- 15:57Speaker 5: a while.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Or they throw things at you.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Or just punch yourself in the tit, you know, whichever.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I try that sometimes. Sometimes it works for me, let
- 16:04Speaker 1: me tell you. So I guess you also have to
- 16:09Speaker 1: deal with the constant roaming around. Is that fun?
- 16:12Speaker 5: Nomadic lifestyle. I'm a gypsy.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Whether you like it or not, you're sort of forced
- 16:17Speaker 1: into it.
- 16:18Speaker 3: It is.
- 16:18Speaker 5: And recently I've been fantasizing the idea of getting one
- 16:21Speaker 5: of these tiny houses. Have you watched these shows, Tiny
- 16:23Speaker 5: House Hunters?
- 16:24Speaker 6: I keep seeing the internet is just overrun with giant.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Pictures of like, look at this closet that people call
- 16:30Speaker 1: a house.
- 16:30Speaker 5: It's like 120 square feet of existence. And you hitch
- 16:34Speaker 5: it on a Ford F-150 and you don't pay housing taxes.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Here's my problem.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Simple life.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I have so much crap.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I do, too.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I am a hoarding, insane person.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Have you watched George Carlin's bit on stuff?
- 16:47Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I need a place for my stuff.
- 16:49Speaker 6: You get stuff for stuff. Then I have to have
- 16:52Speaker 6: my storage place for stuff.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And then I have my mobile place for stuff. You've
- 16:55Speaker 1: got to get rid of it all. Not my vacation
- 16:56Speaker 1: place for stuff. Just my mobile place.
- 16:58Speaker 5: You've got to get rid of it all.
- 16:59Speaker 1: But I like my toys.
- 17:01Speaker 5: But your toys are filling a void I can see
- 17:03Speaker 5: with my eyes.
- 17:04Speaker 1: That's all I have.
- 17:04Speaker 5: It's a dark void.
- 17:05Speaker 1: That's all I have.
- 17:05Speaker 5: It's a dark spot in your soul.
- 17:07Speaker 1: That's all I have.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Your soul is one big dark spot.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It is. You read me very well. I have just
- 17:15Speaker 1: piles of stuff. I don't even have a home anymore.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I've been starting to get rid of it. I've lost that.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I'm just in a box out.
- 17:22Speaker 6: On the street with all my stuff. And then this recorder,
- 17:27Speaker 6: and I just take it places, and.
- 17:28Speaker 1: It's all I have.
- 17:30Speaker 5: You need to live in 120 square feet. Join the revolution.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I don't like this.
- 17:33Speaker 6: Can I just be a crazy person who lives out
- 17:35Speaker 6: in the woods but take over a large part of
- 17:37Speaker 6: the woods?
- 17:38Speaker 5: You can do that. There are indigenous people that live
- 17:41Speaker 5: out in the woods.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I'm going to be indigenous.
- 17:43Speaker 5: You're going to be like one of these woodsmen. You
- 17:46Speaker 5: grow your beard out. You stop shaping it up. It
- 17:49Speaker 5: starts really filling in. Good luck with that. You have
- 17:53Speaker 5: a little patch of grass and sticks. and you're out there,
- 17:56Speaker 5: and you're getting back in nature.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I mean, most of the time I'm okay with that.
- 17:59Speaker 1: If I could take the, what are we driving, an F10?
- 18:03Speaker 5: F-150.
- 18:04Speaker 1: If I can take the 150 and cruise into town
- 18:08Speaker 1: once a week. Okay.
- 18:09Speaker 6: Stock up on the groceries, hang out for the night,
- 18:12Speaker 6: go see a comedy show, and then drive back to
- 18:15Speaker 6: the woods.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I'm okay with this lifestyle. Are you really a hoarder-ish?
- 18:19Speaker 6: I've realized as I've been moving lately, and I have
- 18:23Speaker 6: nowhere to put anything.
- 18:24Speaker 5: Yeah. Do you have figurines? You look like somebody who
- 18:26Speaker 5: has figurines.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You can't prove that. I don't think. Have I posted
- 18:32Speaker 1: any online? I don't know.
- 18:33Speaker 5: You've got collector's Edward Scissorhands figurines.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I do have one somewhere.
- 18:39Speaker 8: Do you?
- 18:39Speaker 1: I don't know where it is. Yeah. But the very
- 18:42Speaker 1: first batch that came out. I don't think I. You
- 18:45Speaker 1: have Hellraiser? I've talked to Doug Bradley.
- 18:47Speaker 6: I don't think I have the Hellraiser toy, though, because
- 18:49Speaker 6: I think the first wave looked terrible. So I think
- 18:51Speaker 6: I was waiting for the good ones.
- 18:52Speaker 5: You're waiting for them to figure it out.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Which they probably have by now, but I haven't gone back.
- 18:55Speaker 1: That's so funny.
- 18:56Speaker 6: I've weaned myself off over the years, so now I
- 18:58Speaker 6: just have old piles of crap. So I've really cut
- 19:02Speaker 6: back on buying stuff.
- 19:03Speaker 1: That's good.
- 19:04Speaker 3: You should.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But then I have to, you know, this stuff, I
- 19:06Speaker 1: have to keep it.
- 19:07Speaker 8: It's important.
- 19:08Speaker 5: You got to get rid of it. You got to
- 19:09Speaker 5: burn it all.
- 19:10Speaker 6: I'm at least going to sell it to some other
- 19:12Speaker 6: poor sap.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah, sell it to somebody else who's not ready to
- 19:15Speaker 1: give it up. There we go.
- 19:16Speaker 5: It's just a vicious cycle of sharing stuff. I'm getting
- 19:20Speaker 5: rid of everything. I've been getting rid of everything.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Do you have anything good? Can I have it?
- 19:23Speaker 5: I'll send it your way.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:25Speaker 5: Do you wear size seven and a half heels?
- 19:27Speaker 7: Sometimes.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Perfect. I'll send them your way. I'm busy punching myself, maybe.
- 19:31Speaker 5: In the tit.
- 19:32Speaker 1: You know, anyway, whatever.
- 19:33Speaker 5: In the tit.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So, as we're eventually careening into a movie.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Eventually.
- 19:42Speaker 6: You've said your pitching idea is you may or may
- 19:45Speaker 6: not be working on shows.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Is that a goal for you? Yeah. Do you want
- 19:49Speaker 1: to move into the acting end of it? Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 5: I mean, I've done some little things here and there,
- 19:54Speaker 5: and I really enjoy writing. Writing is what I really enjoy,
- 19:58Speaker 5: and I want to EP something and write something. I'm
- 20:01Speaker 5: working on a couple different ideas right now, and one
- 20:04Speaker 5: of my really good friends is is helping me. I
- 20:07Speaker 5: figured that I'm better with somebody who's funny instead of
- 20:11Speaker 5: just trying to sit down and write it myself. There's
- 20:13Speaker 5: nothing wrong with a little help from your friends who
- 20:15Speaker 5: are also super intelligent and funny and talented.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Somebody else also keeps you on track. They do. Where
- 20:20Speaker 1: if you're just sitting there by yourself, you're like, I
- 20:22Speaker 1: really need to write that, but I have to watch
- 20:23Speaker 1: this show on little houses. I need to watch YouTube.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I need to watch Little Tiny House Hunters.
- 20:27Speaker 6: I got the little tiny houses, short people that comes
- 20:30Speaker 6: on at 7.30 through tomorrow because it's a marathon.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I have to keep up with the Kardashians.
- 20:34Speaker 6: So, yeah, I think it kind of helps to have
- 20:37Speaker 6: somebody else on the other end and be like.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Okay, so on Tuesday we're doing something, right? And also
- 20:43Speaker 1: to fill in the creative gaps. Yeah, that always kind
- 20:46Speaker 1: of helps.
- 20:46Speaker 5: You know, when you say an idea and they can
- 20:48Speaker 5: see it from a different perspective and you're like, oh, okay.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You're right, that is stupid. I didn't see that at all.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Yeah, you're like, I didn't realize it was so dumb.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 20:55Speaker 6: So you mentioned in our picking of a movie that
- 21:00Speaker 6: you're a horror fan.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Is that an area you want to go into?
- 21:03Speaker 5: I love, I would love to be in a horror movie.
- 21:07Speaker 6: Like trapped in one? Some sort of alternate reality? Not
- 21:11Speaker 6: making one, but you're sucked in?
- 21:13Speaker 1: No, like actually on it. Final Girl style?
- 21:15Speaker 5: No, not like, what was that movie with Edward Furlong?
- 21:18Speaker 5: Brain Games?
- 21:21Speaker 1: No way. Brain Scan.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Brain Scan.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Brain scan.
- 21:24Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Where the video game was real. Well, it's those final girls.
- 21:29Speaker 1: What else? There's like six or eight of them now.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 1: We've gotten a little too meta for our own damn good.
- 21:33Speaker 1: That fourth wall or whatever it is. They've added a
- 21:37Speaker 1: fifth or sixth.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Yeah, there's 17 walls that they're breaking in reality.
- 21:40Speaker 1: And they look at the camera and just talk to
- 21:42Speaker 1: you the whole time. You're like, what?
- 21:43Speaker 5: How do they know what I'm going to say?
- 21:45Speaker 1: You're not Ferris Bueller.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Quit.
- 21:46Speaker 5: They're responding.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Cut it out.
- 21:47Speaker 5: Yeah, but I love horror movies. I've always wanted to
- 21:49Speaker 5: be in one.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So do you want to write them? I would love
- 21:53Speaker 1: to write one.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Not direct.
- 21:54Speaker 1: You're not up for directing? I don't have that brain.
- 21:56Speaker 9: No.
- 21:57Speaker 5: I mean, I can see more of a story than
- 21:59Speaker 5: I can see like, oh, this is a good angle.
- 22:01Speaker 5: That's a good angle. Make sure you capture this sound guy.
- 22:04Speaker 5: You're in the way.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I can't do all that.
- 22:05Speaker 5: That's too hard.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I'm kind of drawn to that end of it, I think.
- 22:08Speaker 6: I don't know that I want to do it, but
- 22:11Speaker 6: I'm way more interested in the technical. Again, the more
- 22:13Speaker 6: I talk about it over the years, it's like the
- 22:15Speaker 6: performing end of it seems like trouble.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 22:18Speaker 6: And my brain doesn't remember anything, so lines would be
- 22:21Speaker 6: shot to hell. It'd be nothing but me making things
- 22:23Speaker 6: up all day. But yeah, the technical end of it
- 22:26Speaker 6: is always way more interesting.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Yeah, see, the technical end stresses me out.
- 22:30Speaker 6: So when we write this horror movie, we can star
- 22:33Speaker 6: in it, and I'll be behind the camera going, this
- 22:35Speaker 6: light is off.
- 22:36Speaker 1: No, you guys are all fired. Wait, set, clear.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Guys, we have to break for lunch because the union's
- 22:41Speaker 5: going to be up our ass if we don't.
- 22:43Speaker 6: So you've got to know those things. Well, that's bringing
- 22:47Speaker 6: you in to know these other things. What is the
- 22:49Speaker 6: story that we're writing on this? I just like this
- 22:52Speaker 6: idea that I made up.
- 22:52Speaker 1: So I'm trying to decide what our horror movie is.
- 22:55Speaker 5: You know, I'm always attracted to creature features. All right.
- 22:58Speaker 5: I love creature features.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I love a good....
- 23:02Speaker 5: Or maybe, I'm not into CGI. I want something tangible.
- 23:06Speaker 6: I miss the old school clay animation style.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Remember The Thing, the second one with Kurt Russell?
- 23:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah. The real thing. The real thing, really.
- 23:18Speaker 6: John Carpenter's John Carpenter's Apostrophe S, The Thing. The Thing,
- 23:22Speaker 6: which was One of the greatest movies of all time.
- 23:24Speaker 1: One of the greatest sci-fi slash thriller slash.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Horror, if you will, movies.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Slash awesomeness.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Slash awesomeness. but it was a remake of the 50s.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Which is okay. I'm okay with that one. It's for
- 23:37Speaker 1: the 50s. It's entertaining. And it still holds up. It's
- 23:39Speaker 1: weird that it's a giant carrot that's trying to kill him,
- 23:42Speaker 1: but for the most part, you lose a.
- 23:44Speaker 6: Little bit there when you're used to the giant bio
- 23:47Speaker 6: creature busting out, taking over people's heads.
- 23:51Speaker 5: Animatronics and real makeup and that whole creating a creature thing.
- 23:58Speaker 5: I don't know who.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Worked on that. I was Rob Bottin, I think. Was it?
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 1: If I'm remembering. If not, geeks are going to take
- 24:03Speaker 1: points away.
- 24:04Speaker 5: No, I think you're right. I think you're right.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I think it was.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I mean, that was just the way it morphed and
- 24:09Speaker 5: how it kept evolving into some other creature and the faces.
- 24:13Speaker 5: And at the end, it was just like, the possibilities
- 24:17Speaker 5: are limitless.
- 24:18Speaker 1: For the love of God, just kill everybody. Hurry up
- 24:21Speaker 1: and kill everybody. Kill everybody.
- 24:23Speaker 5: See what this thing morphs into. Is that my grandma's
- 24:26Speaker 5: face on the knuckle? It's just craziness.
- 24:30Speaker 6: I think it says a lot about me that it
- 24:31Speaker 6: never bothered me that it just took out all those
- 24:34Speaker 6: boring guys.
- 24:35Speaker 1: But the dogs.
- 24:36Speaker 5: Oh, I'm like the dogs.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Oh, man, the dogs. I was so sad.
- 24:39Speaker 6: I have to say that one dog, the one that
- 24:42Speaker 6: we're pretty sure is the creature at that one point,
- 24:45Speaker 6: like Oscar.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Like when he walks in the room. The look on
- 24:48Speaker 1: his face? Yeah, he looks over at that guy and
- 24:50Speaker 1: you're like. Oh, there's a beat? There's some acting going
- 24:53Speaker 1: on there.
- 24:54Speaker 5: It's method acting.
- 24:55Speaker 1: That dog is genius.
- 24:57Speaker 5: Yeah, and that dog trained itself.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Genius dogs.
- 24:59Speaker 5: There was no handler. That was like the Leonardo DiCaprio
- 25:03Speaker 5: of dogs.
- 25:04Speaker 1: He really, really wins an Oscar. He'll never win an Oscar.
- 25:08Speaker 6: Eventually.
- 25:08Speaker 5: He'll win an Oscar for a very melodramatic okay movie.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Did you see the revenant dog fighting a bear this
- 25:15Speaker 1: sounds fun oh my.
- 25:16Speaker 5: God when he flew off the mountain i was like
- 25:18Speaker 5: what the fuck is happening.
- 25:19Speaker 1: They have really impressive special effects did.
- 25:21Speaker 6: You not think that though um i mean every 15
- 25:25Speaker 6: minutes he should have been dead in that movie so
- 25:27Speaker 6: like after a while you're just kind of numb to
- 25:29Speaker 6: it i'm assuming you're just like well all right where
- 25:32Speaker 6: are we going.
- 25:32Speaker 5: I just when he flew off into the fucking pine
- 25:35Speaker 5: tree i'm like are you kidding me broke.
- 25:37Speaker 1: His fall the The tree broke his fall. That branch
- 25:41Speaker 1: at 48 miles an hour that shoved its way through
- 25:43Speaker 1: his shoulder, that totally saved him.
- 25:45Speaker 5: And his face was unscathed.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Well, obviously, he's Leonardo. I know, you can't fuck up
- 25:49Speaker 1: that face.
- 25:50Speaker 5: You can make him look old. But Giselle Bedungeon was
- 25:52Speaker 5: sitting on it for 10 years. You can't mess up
- 25:53Speaker 5: that face.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Hold on a minute. I'm going to need a second here.
- 25:57Speaker 1: All right, anyway. Adjustment.
- 26:01Speaker 5: Can we get some adjustment music?
- 26:03Speaker 1: Clear the set.
- 26:03Speaker 3: So.
- 26:05Speaker 6: This creature of ours, are we stealing the thing creature
- 26:08Speaker 6: or are we gonna come up with our own variation?
- 26:10Speaker 5: You know, I always like the idea of there being,
- 26:14Speaker 5: and this might sound cliche, but of like a badass
- 26:18Speaker 5: chick who sort of is the center of saving people
- 26:22Speaker 5: from a creature. I recently watched... Aliens?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Sigourney Weaver. One of the coolest, the other of the
- 26:30Speaker 1: coolest movies ever made.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Get away from her, you bitch! Wasn't that her cat?
- 26:35Speaker 5: Wasn't she trying to protect her cat in that moment?
- 26:37Speaker 1: Jonesy is, again, I don't want anything to happen to Jonesy.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I'm really worried about Jonesy.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Is that what she was saying in that moment, though?
- 26:44Speaker 5: When she was like, get away from her.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Get away from my cat. Screw you, Newt.
- 26:47Speaker 6: You'll be dead before the next movie. But my cat,
- 26:49Speaker 6: who survived the entire series?
- 26:51Speaker 1: Jones did. Nobody else survived the series. Just joking.
- 26:55Speaker 5: But there's rarely a movie in the horror genre. Usually
- 26:59Speaker 5: girls are like the damsels in distress and men save them.
- 27:03Speaker 1: We're slowly getting away from that. We're getting away from it.
- 27:05Speaker 5: And there are little touches here and there of movies
- 27:08Speaker 5: who have that. But the one movie I watched recently
- 27:10Speaker 5: that had it was Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Did you watch that? I did see it. With David Koschner?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Again, I kind of like the idea better than the execution. Yes,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I thought it was fun.
- 27:24Speaker 6: But that's kind of where it caps it off at like,
- 27:27Speaker 6: that was fun. Right.
- 27:28Speaker 1: That was entertaining for 90 minutes.
- 27:30Speaker 5: It was. It was like the poor girl's version of
- 27:33Speaker 5: what was the one with?
- 27:34Speaker 1: Zombieland.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Zombieland. See, that was dope.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Zombieland's above and beyond most horror movies.
- 27:40Speaker 5: I feel like they were like, well, let's try and
- 27:42Speaker 5: do that.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:43Speaker 6: Again, it felt very much like, well, we've got like
- 27:47Speaker 6: 48 bucks, but what if we wanted to do something
- 27:49Speaker 6: kind of like that?
- 27:50Speaker 5: I was impressed with what they did with what they had.
- 27:52Speaker 5: They filmed it in LA, which is impressive. But I mean,
- 27:55Speaker 5: Zombieland was one of my favorite, most fun, unique takes
- 28:02Speaker 5: on that genre. Horror comedy is such a fine line
- 28:05Speaker 5: to get right.
- 28:07Speaker 1: It's almost impossible.
- 28:08Speaker 5: It's almost impossible because Evil Dead is one that set the...
- 28:11Speaker 5: precedent for how to do it.
- 28:12Speaker 6: There's a handful of really well executed ones. And then
- 28:16Speaker 6: you get to these others that keep falling on their face.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Yeah, and they usually don't, they just miss the mark.
- 28:22Speaker 6: And again, in these last 10, 12 years, it's like
- 28:24Speaker 6: it became a cool thing again. So now we have
- 28:26Speaker 6: 10 times more The amount of people just throwing.
- 28:30Speaker 1: That idea out there, especially with zombies. There's way too
- 28:33Speaker 1: many zombie movies. Way too many zombies. I thought of
- 28:35Speaker 1: a couple good zombie movies.
- 28:36Speaker 5: I'm not going to say because people are going to
- 28:37Speaker 5: steal them.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Probably. Just claim the domain.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Have you seen Zombievers?
- 28:43Speaker 1: I've seen the trailer.
- 28:44Speaker 5: You've got to see it.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Do I have to?
- 28:46Speaker 5: It's so fun. I interviewed one of the girls that
- 28:48Speaker 5: was in it, Lexi Atkins, who was like the main chick,
- 28:51Speaker 5: main actress in it. And there's animatronics.
- 28:54Speaker 3: All right.
- 28:55Speaker 5: And dogs.
- 28:55Speaker 1: That's just because they couldn't afford CG. It's true.
- 28:58Speaker 5: But it was fun.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Okay. Again, there's so many of those type now. Wolf Cop?
- 29:05Speaker 6: I can watch the trailer and kind of go, it
- 29:08Speaker 6: could go either way.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Don't let the trailer mess with you because look at
- 29:11Speaker 5: all these great blockbusters that have amazing, they have a
- 29:14Speaker 5: whole production company that does a trailer and then the
- 29:16Speaker 5: movie fucking sucks.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I usually go in with more guard up on the blockbusters.
- 29:20Speaker 5: You're like, wait a minute.
- 29:22Speaker 1: This is probably going to be terrible.
- 29:23Speaker 5: Did you see Wolf Cop?
- 29:25Speaker 1: Not yet.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Oh, come on.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Once again, I've seen the trailer. I've barely worked my
- 29:29Speaker 1: way through these movies. I pick one every week. And
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm like, what are we watching? Because then it makes
- 29:33Speaker 1: me watch a movie.
- 29:34Speaker 5: I'm going to make you a list. You have to
- 29:37Speaker 5: watch Wolf Cop.
- 29:37Speaker 1: All right.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Another one of those horror comics.
- 29:41Speaker 1: That works. That works. Budget.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Super budget. Shot well. Acted well. It's funny. It's like
- 29:48Speaker 5: in your face.
- 29:49Speaker 6: I was trying to think what. There was one I
- 29:51Speaker 6: saw recently. And I don't even know if it got
- 29:53Speaker 6: distribution yet. But now I'm forgetting.
- 29:54Speaker 5: What's the name?
- 29:56Speaker 1: It's where they work in an office. And there's the
- 29:59Speaker 1: zombie outbreak.
- 30:00Speaker 5: Is it zombie outbreak or is it the.
- 30:04Speaker 1: It's not the one with the little kids.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Dracula's. Or vampires.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Maybe it was. Bloodsuckers.
- 30:10Speaker 7: No.
- 30:11Speaker 5: It's not called Bloodsuckers?
- 30:12Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 30:12Speaker 5: I'm going to Google it because I think I know
- 30:14Speaker 5: exactly what you're talking about.
- 30:15Speaker 1: But it does sound like vampires. Seems right. It's sad
- 30:18Speaker 1: that they're blurring the lines anymore.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Bloodsuckers. I watch movies like this all the time.
- 30:23Speaker 1: It's something close to that though.
- 30:25Speaker 5: Let me see. office bloodsockers?
- 30:27Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Unless you can Google this faster.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I'm already on the wrong thing already, so you're gonna win.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Welcome to Google Hour.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Come on. Vampires in office.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Office.
- 30:42Speaker 5: You could just put in words on Google and they're like, here,
- 30:44Speaker 5: is this what you need?
- 30:44Speaker 1: Google's kind of amazing. I gotta say, just like I
- 30:47Speaker 1: use it for... Bloodsucking bastards.
- 30:50Speaker 7: What's the poster?
- 30:51Speaker 5: I was just gonna say, I'm.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Gonna show you the poster. Is there a coffee mug?
- 30:57Speaker 5: I'm going to show you the poster because that always
- 30:59Speaker 5: is like what?
- 30:59Speaker 1: I'm like, that one.
- 31:01Speaker 5: I can see the poster. There's a coffee mug.
- 31:06Speaker 1: That might be it. Yes, that one.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Yep.
- 31:09Speaker 1: See, just like I told you, blood-sucking bastards.
- 31:11Speaker 5: It's dope.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Vampires.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Pretty fun.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I was surprised. Because again, it is like super
- 31:16Speaker 1: limited budget.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Super limited, acted well.
- 31:18Speaker 1: And it makes up for it in the writing and
- 31:20Speaker 1: the acting.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's where you really realize where the talent lies.
- 31:24Speaker 5: You don't need a shitload of money to make it good.
- 31:27Speaker 5: You just have to have people who are in it.
- 31:29Speaker 5: So did you do that for the podcast? Or was
- 31:31Speaker 5: that just a recreational?
- 31:32Speaker 1: It was at one of the conventions that we hit.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And I had no idea what it was.
- 31:36Speaker 5: What convention?
- 31:37Speaker 2: And just.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I'm not plugging it. You're like, I'm not plugging it, yeah.
- 31:42Speaker 1: They've not been helpful at all.
- 31:43Speaker 5: They haven't?
- 31:44Speaker 3: Not at all.
- 31:45Speaker 5: Fucking, you know, people don't appreciate.
- 31:46Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 31:47Speaker 6: Like, there are really important shows called podcasts.
- 31:50Speaker 5: That feature things called movies.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Yeah, we could be like pitching this poor guy that's
- 31:56Speaker 6: trying to get his movie out there and they put
- 31:58Speaker 6: tons of work into it and it's actually good and
- 32:00Speaker 6: then nobody hears about it and it can't get a
- 32:02Speaker 6: distribution deal.
- 32:03Speaker 5: And how hard is it for them just to say, hey,
- 32:06Speaker 5: check out this podcast.
- 32:08Speaker 1: That's what I keep telling people.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Or at least just like, you know, put a link
- 32:11Speaker 5: to it on there. People are just blood sucking bastards.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Oh God. Insert the horns.
- 32:18Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 32:25Speaker 6: I think everybody, yeah, that one is surprisingly well done.
- 32:28Speaker 6: So we'll have zombies fighting dracolors.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Dracolors. In our... In our movie with this giant creature.
- 32:38Speaker 1: What if there's a hybrid?
- 32:40Speaker 5: Hybrid. Some sort of hybrid.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I've seen that line get blurred as time goes on.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Like, I mean, God, I still don't understand the success
- 32:49Speaker 5: of Underworld with Kate Beckinsale. Rise of Lycans?
- 32:52Speaker 1: We've got to have some extra Lycans in this movie. Lucian?
- 32:54Speaker 5: Although I do love that actor who plays Lucian.
- 32:57Speaker 1: That's one I... Just Kate Beckinsale.
- 33:00Speaker 5: She's just too full of herself.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Kate Beckinsale's terrible! She's terrible. Just put away your shiny
- 33:04Speaker 1: leather suit. I get it. I get it.
- 33:07Speaker 5: And vampires just have perfect makeup all the time?
- 33:10Speaker 1: I'm going to go watch Resident Evil because it's the
- 33:12Speaker 1: same movie. Resident Evil's dope. Mila Jojovich. What's her name?
- 33:17Speaker 5: Mila Jojovich.
- 33:18Speaker 1: I think if you listen to her say it. John Malkovich?
- 33:20Speaker 5: Who's in that? It's Jojovich.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Jojojovich. Yeah, usually we get stuck and we're just Jojojojo.
- 33:26Speaker 1: You know that one chick.
- 33:28Speaker 6: That girl in Days to Confuse that has no lines.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that girl. Jojojojovich. So, yeah, it's essentially the same movie,
- 33:33Speaker 1: only those are more awesome.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:35Speaker 1: That's what we call them.
- 33:36Speaker 5: And Resident Evil, or not, Resident Hill? Silent Hill.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Silent Hill.
- 33:40Speaker 5: We'll get there.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Which I've forgotten everything about. Roger Mitchell. I think everybody
- 33:44Speaker 1: else did too.
- 33:44Speaker 5: That was dark, yeah. I love, sometimes the games to
- 33:48Speaker 5: movie is pretty good.
- 33:50Speaker 6: It's usually not a good ratio, but every once in
- 33:54Speaker 6: a while, that's when they'll sneak one in.
- 33:56Speaker 1: You'll be like, oh, God, that wasn't terrible.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:58Speaker 1: That wasn't Doom.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Right.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Great.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Jesus so japanese kind of kill it in the horror
- 34:05Speaker 5: genre they know what they're doing they know what they're
- 34:07Speaker 5: doing there's a couple really good ones.
- 34:09Speaker 1: They're very focused in what they're doing.
- 34:11Speaker 5: Yeah there's one a good creature feature a lot of
- 34:14Speaker 5: cgi mainly cgi based i think it's like based in
- 34:18Speaker 5: tokyo i could be wrong it could be really racist
- 34:21Speaker 5: right now um but it's like somewhere in idaho aquatic
- 34:25Speaker 5: creature that comes out of the host yes yes isn't that.
- 34:29Speaker 6: Fun That one, again, that one like kind of, you
- 34:31Speaker 6: know it's good if it makes its way over here
- 34:33Speaker 6: and like dumb Americans are like, dude, that was pretty cool.
- 34:35Speaker 6: So that one made its way over.
- 34:37Speaker 5: There's a couple foreign ones that are just fucking, Trollhunter?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Yo. I got most of the way through. You couldn't
- 34:45Speaker 1: do it? I think I just got distracted and went
- 34:48Speaker 1: to sleep. But that happens a lot.
- 34:49Speaker 5: It was anticipation.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Very build up. I heard way too much about Troll
- 34:54Speaker 1: Hunter before I got the Troll Hunter.
- 34:56Speaker 5: I loved it.
- 34:57Speaker 1: By the time the CG, which again, it was for
- 34:59Speaker 1: their limited budget, it was decent CG.
- 35:01Speaker 5: For a limited budget.
- 35:02Speaker 1: That was pretty well done.
- 35:03Speaker 5: They used lighting and everything just to their advantage. But
- 35:06Speaker 5: that's a movie you have to get high to watch
- 35:08Speaker 5: to really appreciate. Because it's just there's so.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Much lead up. And you loved it is what you're saying.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I did love it.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Rare exports?
- 35:15Speaker 1: That one's just creepy. Creepy and dark? Well done, weirdos.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Because this is a weird movie.
- 35:21Speaker 5: Was that Norwegian or was that New Zealand?
- 35:23Speaker 1: I think it's Norwegian.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Yeah, the Norwegian kind of knock it out.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't branch out into the world much.
- 35:29Speaker 5: No, they just really do it well. There's a couple
- 35:32Speaker 5: other Norwegian ones I can't. Well, let the right one in.
- 35:34Speaker 6: I was going to say, anything up in the weird
- 35:36Speaker 6: Scandinavian countries, that's the one that I was blown away.
- 35:39Speaker 1: It was so beautiful. I'd heard a good amount about it,
- 35:41Speaker 1: and I was still like, wow, this is really fucking good.
- 35:44Speaker 8: Where do they find these kids?
- 35:48Speaker 5: We always try to do an American version, which I get,
- 35:51Speaker 5: because Americans are too ethnocentric to stretch outside the American culture.
- 35:54Speaker 1: I don't like to read, but... I have to say,
- 35:57Speaker 1: I didn't hate that one.
- 35:58Speaker 5: I didn't hate it either, but the kids in the
- 36:01Speaker 5: original were so mesmerizing.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Well, it's because we have to have pretty kids. Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 1: We have to have pretty kids.
- 36:06Speaker 6: Nobody wants to look at those weird Scandinavian kids in
- 36:08Speaker 6: our country. We're very small minded and shallow.
- 36:11Speaker 5: It was so well done to have two kids be
- 36:13Speaker 5: the main characters and still be dark.
- 36:16Speaker 1: And still be like such a relationship based.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Like not even a real relationship because they're not at
- 36:21Speaker 1: that point yet, but it kind of is. But it worked.
- 36:24Speaker 6: It's sort of like they're still like it's our basic
- 36:27Speaker 6: programming to kind of fall into that mode, even when
- 36:30Speaker 6: you don't understand it.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Yet because you're 11 or however old they are. That
- 36:33Speaker 1: might be the key. One of them.
- 36:34Speaker 5: To make the main character a girl and make her
- 36:37Speaker 5: young and make her be badass. Kind of like kick-ass,
- 36:40Speaker 5: but in a horror genre.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I'm okay with this.
- 36:42Speaker 5: You know?
- 36:43Speaker 6: And then she fights hordes of zombies and Draculers. And
- 36:46Speaker 6: at the end, there's a giant practical monster that she
- 36:49Speaker 6: has to fight.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Not CG. Her mom. So we're back to Carrie. The
- 36:56Speaker 1: evilness is her mother. They're all going to laugh at you.
- 37:01Speaker 1: They're all going to laugh at you.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Which is a movie just about a girl's period. We
- 37:04Speaker 5: all know that.
- 37:05Speaker 6: One of the most disturbing scenes ever is the shower scene.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I still kind of have flashbacks to that.
- 37:10Speaker 5: I just had that scene this morning when I woke up.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Did you? All right. I do like that you're okay
- 37:16Speaker 1: sharing that. Okay, I thought of another Scandinavian one.
- 37:19Speaker 7: All right.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Something about mother.
- 37:23Speaker 7: Mother?
- 37:24Speaker 1: No, mama.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Mama.
- 37:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Yeah. We just discussed it. I didn't see it. The
- 37:29Speaker 1: other person on the show. It's Norwegian, right?
- 37:31Speaker 5: She comes back with it. She had facial surgery.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I believe so.
- 37:34Speaker 5: I got to Google it because I know the poster.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Mama, right?
- 37:38Speaker 5: Do we think it's Scandinavian?
- 37:40Speaker 1: It's foreign of some sort.
- 37:42Speaker 5: I'll put foreign in.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Then I don't have to pick the wrong country and
- 37:45Speaker 1: seem like a racist. I think it's Mama.
- 37:47Speaker 5: Good Night, Mommy.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Oh, Lord. Good Night, Mommy. Mama was the American one
- 37:51Speaker 1: that just came out, right?
- 37:52Speaker 5: Yeah, now I got to see that one.
- 37:54Speaker 1: It has Chastain in it, right? Yes.
- 37:57Speaker 6: Because she did it before she started getting Oscar nominations,
- 38:00Speaker 6: and they were like, oh, we are banking on this.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Slap that name giant on this post-it. Yeah, no.
- 38:06Speaker 5: The one I'm thinking of is called Good Night, Mommy,
- 38:08Speaker 5: 2014 Austrian Horror Film.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Really good. as opposed to Mama, which I heard is
- 38:14Speaker 1: pretty bad. Oh, man. But Jessica Chastain.
- 38:18Speaker 5: She's a good actress.
- 38:18Speaker 1: She's kind of awesome.
- 38:20Speaker 5: What else did I watch recently?
- 38:21Speaker 1: I watched a.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Movie about the boy. The boy, this chick becomes an
- 38:29Speaker 5: au pair to this doll. Oh, Lord. Is it called
- 38:34Speaker 5: The Boy?
- 38:34Speaker 1: I think there is one called The Boy. We're terrible.
- 38:38Speaker 5: This is a podcast about movies, and we can't fucking remember.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I don't watch movies. The boy. It's the chick. It's
- 38:44Speaker 1: Megan Monaghan.
- 38:47Speaker 5: What's her name? Michelle Monaghan is in it.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Megan Mullally. The boy.
- 38:51Speaker 5: Megan Mull-blah-blah-blah.
- 38:53Speaker 1: This one, look, you'll know it, but here's the poster.
- 38:57Speaker 1: That's a poster I haven't seen.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Wow.
- 38:59Speaker 1: So I can add it to my list. Add it
- 39:01Speaker 1: to your list. And in six to eight years, I
- 39:02Speaker 1: will totally watch that.
- 39:03Speaker 5: January 2015, it came out.
- 39:06Speaker 1: It was okay.
- 39:08Speaker 5: I mean, there's a twist.
- 39:09Speaker 1: It says that on the poster. It was okay.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Eh.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Can you put a shrug in the captions that they
- 39:14Speaker 1: put on the poster?
- 39:15Speaker 5: I'd put a shrug and a clap. A shrug. A shrug.
- 39:17Speaker 1: A one-handed clap so we're all just like, what you doing?
- 39:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I can't really hear it, but I have to think
- 39:23Speaker 1: about it a lot.
- 39:24Speaker 5: I don't want to stay another minute I don't want you.
- 39:30Speaker 9: To say a single word Hush, hush, hush, hush There
- 39:35Speaker 9: is no other way I get the final.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Say Do this any longer.
- 39:44Speaker 8: I don't want you.
- 39:44Speaker 5: There's nothing left to say.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Hush, hush, hush, hush. I'm already spoken.
- 39:52Speaker 6: All of it's broken.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Baby, hush, hush.
- 39:57Speaker 3: I never needed your corrections on everything.
- 40:01Speaker 1: From how I act to what I do.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yes, folks, it's intermission time. So how about taking a break?
- 40:08Speaker 3: Get out and stretch a little and relax before the

- 43:48Speaker 3: I'll pop by tomorrow and brush up signs.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I'm going to get good. I'm determined.
- 43:55Speaker 4: Kissing.

- 43:59Speaker 2: Bitch.
- 44:05Speaker 7: Manny!
- 44:06Speaker 1: Manny, please see me! Manny, please help me! Manny! Manny!
- 44:28Speaker 5: No!
- 44:30Speaker 1: No! No!
- 44:35Speaker 4: Hell's where I was born.
- 44:37Speaker 7: Hell's where I was raised.
- 44:40Speaker 8: This hell is where I'm from. And this hell is
- 44:43Speaker 8: where I'll stay.
- 44:45Speaker 1: The harshest of our needs.
- 45:01Speaker 9: Yeah, you gotta.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Mean, I watch so many of these movies, man, and
- 45:11Speaker 5: I don't know why I'm so attracted to the genre.
- 45:13Speaker 5: I haven't figured it out.
- 45:15Speaker 1: That was where I was going to go.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Yeah, why.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Especially once we get in, I guess eventually we should
- 45:20Speaker 1: get to our movie of the week.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Yeah, we should.
- 45:22Speaker 1: So let's do that right now. And then I'll continue
- 45:25Speaker 1: asking that question.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Cool.
- 45:26Speaker 1: All right, I've got the setup here. Of course, now
- 45:29Speaker 1: we were Googling shit.
- 45:30Speaker 5: It's all a modern thing. I know, it's all messed up.
- 45:34Speaker 1: This week's Sober Theater feature is Hush. The year is 2016.
- 45:38Speaker 1: The director, Mike Flanagan. And the plot, according to IMDb, a.
- 45:43Speaker 6: Deaf woman is stalked by a psychotic killer in her
- 45:46Speaker 6: secluded home.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, we're gonna ruin this thing. So go watch
- 45:50Speaker 1: it now, because it's streaming.
- 45:51Speaker 6: So I just, I put it out there from here
- 45:53Speaker 6: on out when we ruin things. It's not our fault,
- 45:55Speaker 6: it's their fault for listening past when I just said
- 45:58Speaker 6: spoiler alert.
- 45:58Speaker 5: That's good that you do spoiler alert.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I throw it out there at the beginning.
- 46:01Speaker 5: I appreciate that.
- 46:01Speaker 1: And from that point on, it's your own fault.
- 46:03Speaker 5: That's a really good way, because you know, if you're
- 46:05Speaker 5: gonna get into a movie, you might as well get
- 46:08Speaker 5: into it.
- 46:08Speaker 1: There's no point, yeah.
- 46:09Speaker 6: I kind of hate when you, I mean, we'll do
- 46:10Speaker 6: the like, what have you seen lately, and we'll go
- 46:12Speaker 6: like 10 sentences. And wrap it up and be like,
- 46:15Speaker 6: it was cool. You should go see it and leave
- 46:17Speaker 6: it at that. If you're doing a whole episode about
- 46:18Speaker 6: a movie and you can't talk about it, that's bullshit.
- 46:22Speaker 5: I learned my lesson on Twitter. I was watching Walking Dead.
- 46:25Speaker 1: 140 character reviews. I was watching Walking Dead. I'm in L.A.
- 46:30Speaker 5: I can't believe I died. So the timing is.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Oh, the timing.
- 46:33Speaker 5: I was West Coast feed.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Like, even the network doesn't understand the timing. Yeah, I
- 46:38Speaker 1: was like... You heard that, right?
- 46:39Speaker 5: I said somebody died on Twitter, and everyone was like,
- 46:42Speaker 5: you're going to rot in hell. We're going to burn
- 46:44Speaker 5: your house.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Well, I mean.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And rightfully so. You crossed the line. I crossed the line.
- 46:48Speaker 1: I mean.
- 46:50Speaker 6: You reveal a spoiler for a movie or, God forbid,
- 46:53Speaker 6: a network television show, people lose their shit.
- 46:56Speaker 5: You should be happy that he said spoiler alert, people.
- 46:59Speaker 1: You heard the siren. It's a.
- 47:02Speaker 6: Courtesy. I didn't know much about this. I had heard
- 47:07Speaker 6: about it a lot.
- 47:08Speaker 1: I assumed we were just going to show up and
- 47:10Speaker 1: talk about our favorite Buffy episode.
- 47:13Speaker 6: Isn't that everybody's favorite Buffy episode? Turns out it's a movie.
- 47:16Speaker 6: And I also didn't know that was the director until
- 47:20Speaker 6: after I'd watched it and I started doing the stuff
- 47:22Speaker 6: for this.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, he did Oculus.
- 47:28Speaker 5: The mirror.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Did you see Oculus?
- 47:30Speaker 5: The guy was the director?
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I mean, no, the guy who directed this
- 47:35Speaker 1: one is also the director. Oh, I was like, oh, man.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Oculus, yeah.
- 47:39Speaker 5: That's with the two characters.
- 47:42Speaker 1: The mirror. Yeah, the mirror and the dead. That was
- 47:46Speaker 1: pretty good. I was surprised. That was another one I
- 47:48Speaker 1: went in having no idea what it was. I think
- 47:50Speaker 1: it helped. We saw it at the drive-in. Oh, that's dope.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I was just like, this is awesome.
- 47:54Speaker 5: Oh, that's great.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Drive-in movies are so classic. Yeah, it's one of the few. Like,
- 47:58Speaker 1: that's the thing. It's rare. People are always like, again,
- 48:00Speaker 1: as we sat down, we're like, horror movies, right?
- 48:03Speaker 6: And then we're always playing the horror geek game. but
- 48:05Speaker 6: I'm always going back to John Carpenter's The Thing. So
- 48:08Speaker 6: when people are like, what about new movies?
- 48:10Speaker 1: I'm like, uh. It's rare that I find one that
- 48:14Speaker 1: I really like that's recent.
- 48:16Speaker 5: And it's hard to find one that- Oculus was one
- 48:18Speaker 5: of those. Yeah, that doesn't follow the sort of formula
- 48:22Speaker 5: that everybody does, and like, well, what if we just
- 48:24Speaker 5: do this differently? When it's totally different like that, because
- 48:27Speaker 5: Oculus is pretty different.
- 48:29Speaker 6: Again, and you didn't see it coming, but at the
- 48:31Speaker 6: same time, they set up the end of the movie
- 48:34Speaker 6: right at the beginning.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Which is so great. You kind of feel like, okay,
- 48:36Speaker 1: I'm going to get to see that work. No spoiler,
- 48:39Speaker 1: I suppose.
- 48:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 6: They set up a very specific plot device that you're like,
- 48:42Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure I'm going to see this happen at
- 48:44Speaker 6: the end.
- 48:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 1: And then it goes through such.
- 48:46Speaker 6: A great tale that by the end, you already kind
- 48:49Speaker 6: of forgot what you said at the beginning.
- 48:51Speaker 1: You get lost. You can't wait to see that part.
- 48:53Speaker 1: And then it happens. You're like, oh, shit. Remember an
- 48:55Speaker 1: hour and a half ago?
- 48:56Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 48:56Speaker 5: Remember just a little while ago that thing happened?
- 48:59Speaker 1: That thing? The thing?
- 49:00Speaker 5: It was also really beautifully shot. I love when horror
- 49:03Speaker 5: movies have these really just cinematic compositions to them.
- 49:08Speaker 1: I think that's why it surprised me so much.
- 49:10Speaker 6: I felt like this wasn't quite as hush impressive looking
- 49:15Speaker 6: no it was all right it was well shot it
- 49:18Speaker 6: was like compared to oculus like i was just like
- 49:21Speaker 6: oh total deviation from did he just kind of show
- 49:24Speaker 6: up every once in a while.
- 49:24Speaker 5: Yeah put the camera location yeah which is difficult to
- 49:29Speaker 5: make dynamic it's a different shoot yeah in nighttime it
- 49:32Speaker 5: was all shot at night for the most.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Part and i couldn't hear a damn thing and.
- 49:35Speaker 5: The sound on this movie is terrible But, you know,
- 49:39Speaker 5: that's what attracted me to it. I was like, this isn't, this,
- 49:42Speaker 5: the log line on it alone is what, I was like,
- 49:44Speaker 5: I gotta give this a shot.
- 49:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And we have done that before.
- 49:48Speaker 6: We've done, like, the Audrey Hepburn one years ago. And then, like,
- 49:52Speaker 6: they keep coming back to every once in a while. There's, like,
- 49:56Speaker 6: in their Hear No Evil, one of the thrillers or
- 49:58Speaker 6: something with a deaf girl.
- 50:00Speaker 1: And then we go back and forth.
- 50:01Speaker 7: Well, what was that?
- 50:01Speaker 1: There's, like, blind people that get stalked by killers, too.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Because that was, like, alone. Hear No Evil?
- 50:07Speaker 5: What was that?
- 50:09Speaker 1: Oh Lord, now we're gonna play this game. Back to
- 50:11Speaker 1: the Googles.
- 50:12Speaker 6: But there have been quite a few over the years
- 50:17Speaker 6: that are like, because isn't that one Marley Matlin?
- 50:22Speaker 5: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 50:24Speaker 1: You're right. Stalked by killers and she can't hear a thing.
- 50:26Speaker 1: That's right.
- 50:28Speaker 5: You're right.
- 50:29Speaker 6: So I think every once in a while they go
- 50:31Speaker 6: to that idea of like, hey, it's already scary when
- 50:34Speaker 6: you're about to get killed.
- 50:35Speaker 1: What if you can't hear him coming? So it is
- 50:37Speaker 1: a scary premise.
- 50:38Speaker 5: It is a scary premise. And I guess I haven't
- 50:40Speaker 5: seen it in so long that I was like, this
- 50:43Speaker 5: is interesting.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Which it is.
- 50:45Speaker 6: It has been a while, I feel like, since we've
- 50:47Speaker 6: had at least a big studio version. I feel like
- 50:51Speaker 6: I don't remember anything lately.
- 50:52Speaker 5: See, now it's not pulling. Oh, here's Here, No Evil.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Oh, it's old.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Now I'm getting other pictures of people who have their
- 50:59Speaker 5: ears jabbed out. I can't look at it anymore.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I'm going to vomit. I think you're on the wrong site.
- 51:02Speaker 5: I think I'm on a fetish site.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Have you got my phone? Wait, give me that back.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Hold on a second.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Are you my photos? Those bodies are gone now. What
- 51:12Speaker 1: are you talking about? You can't press charges with photos.
- 51:16Speaker 1: So this movie.
- 51:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I didn't know much going in. I just saw
- 51:21Speaker 6: it pop up, and I knew the title, and I'm like,
- 51:23Speaker 6: that's not Buffy.
- 51:24Speaker 1: And then I was just like... So going into it.
- 51:29Speaker 6: I thought it was going to be interesting when they
- 51:31Speaker 6: sort of like those first few seconds, they're already focusing
- 51:34Speaker 6: really heavy on the sound. Like you do kind of
- 51:36Speaker 6: like you're sitting there. That is one thing I'll give
- 51:38Speaker 6: the director or whoever came up with that concept. That's
- 51:40Speaker 6: like sound is so important. And like every little thing
- 51:44Speaker 6: she's doing, like the sound is just massive and just
- 51:48Speaker 6: kind of blowing out the speakers. And you're like, there's
- 51:51Speaker 6: a lot of sounds in the world. And like you don't,
- 51:53Speaker 6: you kind of take them for granted when you're jerks
- 51:55Speaker 6: like us that can hear things. So I'm assuming everybody
- 51:58Speaker 6: listening to the podcast can probably hear.
- 51:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:00Speaker 6: But so yeah, it's like, and then it pulls back
- 52:03Speaker 6: and you get that complete silence or that weird underwater
- 52:06Speaker 6: noise they play sometimes when they go to her.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Like ambient noise. Ear POV. So it's kind of interesting.
- 52:13Speaker 6: I thought it would be interesting if they'd like get
- 52:16Speaker 6: to a point where the whole rest.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Of the movie takes on that. Where she's completely.
- 52:19Speaker 6: Like we just are in her situation and we have no.
- 52:23Speaker 5: Because that sense of, that's like a panic. Yeah.
- 52:25Speaker 6: I think that would be a little too bold a
- 52:27Speaker 6: move probably and a lot of people would be turned off.
- 52:30Speaker 5: I don't think a lot of people can expand their
- 52:32Speaker 5: brains because we use our senses. So it's almost frustrating
- 52:37Speaker 5: to not be able to use them.
- 52:38Speaker 6: Every once in a while they try to pull that
- 52:40Speaker 6: in movies and people usually get upset. I think to
- 52:42Speaker 6: keep the normal movie geeks from like, this is stupid.
- 52:46Speaker 5: There was a balance though in that movie of it.
- 52:48Speaker 5: It did teeter back and forth.
- 52:49Speaker 6: Every once in a while it would give you the
- 52:50Speaker 6: little glimpse into like, oh yeah, she's screwed.
- 52:53Speaker 1: She can't hear this thing right next to her.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Now, did you get frustrated a little, like, in the
- 52:58Speaker 5: moments where he was in her proximity? Does that frustrate you?
- 53:02Speaker 5: Because you're like, you gotta know somebody's there.
- 53:04Speaker 1: There was a few times when I'm yelling at the TV.
- 53:07Speaker 5: At the peripheral thing.
- 53:08Speaker 6: As classy filmmakers do, you have to yell at the television. And, yeah,
- 53:12Speaker 6: I mean, well, my big one first, even before he's involved,
- 53:16Speaker 6: when that neighbor runs up to the window.
- 53:18Speaker 1: And is just throwing herself into the window and beating
- 53:22Speaker 1: on the window or the door.
- 53:23Speaker 5: That frustrated me.
- 53:24Speaker 6: I was just like, okay, I know she can't hear.
- 53:27Speaker 6: But there's a lot of vibration going on there. And
- 53:29Speaker 6: for somebody who spent a good portion of her life
- 53:32Speaker 6: not being able to hear... You sensed that stuff, really.
- 53:35Speaker 5: You compensate.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Even a person who could hear would probably pick up
- 53:39Speaker 1: on the vibration. Right, I mean, animals who don't hear,
- 53:41Speaker 1: that's how they, dolphins, bats, use vibrations. You would just know.
- 53:45Speaker 6: That was going on, especially as close as she was.
- 53:47Speaker 6: If she was at the other end of the house, maybe,
- 53:49Speaker 6: but it's not like there were two sets of doors
- 53:52Speaker 6: to deaden that sound.
- 53:53Speaker 1: It was right there. The vibration should have come through.
- 53:56Speaker 1: So that already kind of like.
- 53:58Speaker 5: That frustrated me.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I had issues with that.
- 54:00Speaker 5: And also, the neighbor knows she's deaf.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Yeah, why are you beating on the window?
- 54:04Speaker 5: Why not just risk finding a rock on the way? See,
- 54:07Speaker 5: I don't like having those questions. There's a time and
- 54:11Speaker 5: place to watch movies like the franchise films, Friday the 13th,
- 54:17Speaker 5: what is it? Nightmare on Elm Street. Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 54:20Speaker 5: Those movies, you're meant to yell at them. It's an experience.
- 54:24Speaker 3: It is.
- 54:24Speaker 5: There are questions that should be answered that the directors
- 54:28Speaker 5: are just like, well... This is the, it's campy horror.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you can kind of play a dumb card. Right.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Because the people in the movie are usually dumb.
- 54:36Speaker 5: And the plot is dumb. And everything's totally irrational and illogical.
- 54:41Speaker 6: It also, now this is one I've come back to
- 54:44Speaker 6: before that's like, for horror movies in particular, I think
- 54:47Speaker 6: if it does a specific thing, I think it at
- 54:50Speaker 6: least works.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Even if you don't like the movie in the end,
- 54:53Speaker 1: I think there's part of it that works.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Like what?
- 54:54Speaker 1: It is the, if it makes you ask yourself, Oh,
- 54:58Speaker 1: here's what I'd do in this situation.
- 55:00Speaker 5: That's true.
- 55:00Speaker 6: If it puts a person in such a specific... I
- 55:03Speaker 6: always said this with Frozen, not the Disney one.
- 55:05Speaker 1: But when they're hanging up there.
- 55:07Speaker 6: And I'm like, everybody I talked to, even people that
- 55:10Speaker 6: hate it, went, okay, here's what you do. Everybody had
- 55:12Speaker 6: 15-step plan on how they get down or how they
- 55:14Speaker 6: do this or how you fight wolves or whatever. And
- 55:16Speaker 6: I was like, that was one of those, I was like,
- 55:18Speaker 6: that for that premise alone gets a lot of bonus points.
- 55:22Speaker 1: It does because it makes you, you're involved.
- 55:24Speaker 6: It makes you invested in what's going on on screen.
- 55:27Speaker 6: And this one had those moments. It was kind of
- 55:29Speaker 6: for the dumb card reasons because sometimes I'm like, that's
- 55:32Speaker 6: not what you do.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Here's what you do.
- 55:34Speaker 5: Yeah, but then you're like, oh, wait, she doesn't, we're different.
- 55:37Speaker 5: So you almost, you're like, okay.
- 55:38Speaker 1: You try to.
- 55:39Speaker 6: But I think anytime it makes you have that response,
- 55:42Speaker 6: it's at least an effective movie.
- 55:45Speaker 5: And I thought the main actress was really good.
- 55:47Speaker 1: She was good. Have you seen her in anything before?
- 55:49Speaker 6: I'm assuming she was the introducing. Didn't one of the
- 55:53Speaker 6: credits come up as like introducing?
- 55:55Speaker 5: I think you're right.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Like she hadn't done anything before.
- 55:57Speaker 5: If that was her first movie, can you imagine being,
- 56:00Speaker 5: having to portray a deaf person not being.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Is she deaf?
- 56:04Speaker 5: Let's find out. Her name is Katie Siegel. Kate Siegel, sorry.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Not Katie Siegel.
- 56:09Speaker 5: From Silver Spring, Maryland.
- 56:12Speaker 1: She went to Syracuse University.
- 56:13Speaker 5: That's where I'm from. Oh, Syracuse again.
- 56:16Speaker 1: You can't get away from Syracuse. Syracuse.
- 56:19Speaker 5: Let's see what movie she's been in.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Oculus! Do you remember her in Oculus? Is she like
- 56:25Speaker 1: the other woman, maybe? What did she fucking play in Oculus?
- 56:30Speaker 5: She must have had a small role in that.
- 56:32Speaker 6: Does that mean the neighbor was the one that had it?
- 56:34Speaker 6: Why would you introduce somebody if they've already done stuff?
- 56:37Speaker 5: No, she wasn't a main. Maybe she was. I can't
- 56:41Speaker 5: think of what she was now. I don't remember her
- 56:46Speaker 5: from that. Let's see.
- 56:50Speaker 1: No, I don't remember.
- 56:51Speaker 5: I can't figure it out. She's also a screenwriter.
- 56:55Speaker 1: We'll just say she did a good job. She did
- 56:57Speaker 1: a good job. It did list her. I think she
- 56:59Speaker 1: was the screenwriter on this. So, yeah, I think her and...
- 57:03Speaker 1: Is it the lead guy?
- 57:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that wrote the screenplay.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Which, I mean, you know, obviously it was a low-budget movie.
- 57:11Speaker 5: But it does have those... It definitely had those little
- 57:13Speaker 5: moments of... One of my favorite scenes, because I'm such
- 57:17Speaker 5: a dark person, is when he's got... The friend just
- 57:24Speaker 5: rapping on the window. Just with her fucking band. And
- 57:31Speaker 5: he's just behind her with a dead look on his face.
- 57:34Speaker 5: And he's just got the girl propped up like, hey.
- 57:39Speaker 1: That was good. He's a creepy dude.
- 57:41Speaker 5: He definitely was a creepy dude.
- 57:42Speaker 1: He pulled that off pretty effectively. Especially because he's not
- 57:45Speaker 1: imposing anything. That's the thing I was gonna give.
- 57:47Speaker 6: Like, he's not giant Michael Myers, you know? He's like,
- 57:50Speaker 6: he's a short dude. He didn't really seem like he
- 57:53Speaker 6: was ripped.
- 57:54Speaker 1: He looks like a data entry guy. He just, yeah,
- 57:56Speaker 1: he just looked like a normal dude that you would
- 57:58Speaker 1: run into on the street.
- 57:59Speaker 5: Works at Staples.
- 58:00Speaker 6: And I'm like, yeah, so the fact that he can
- 58:02Speaker 6: actually be kind of scary in an imposing presence hanging
- 58:07Speaker 6: outside of a window, that's pretty decent on his part
- 58:10Speaker 6: to be able to pull that off.
- 58:12Speaker 7: But, um.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I like that we get some sort of rules involved.
- 58:17Speaker 5: Yeah, there's some rules involved. And, you know, it's a
- 58:20Speaker 5: whole cat and mouse thing happening.
- 58:22Speaker 6: And very, like, purposefully on his part. Like, he was
- 58:26Speaker 6: already in the house. That was really effective. It is
- 58:29Speaker 6: another one of those moments when, like, if this actually
- 58:32Speaker 6: happened in.
- 58:32Speaker 1: The real world, you would lose your fucking mind.
- 58:35Speaker 6: Like when she's getting pictures from inside the house where
- 58:39Speaker 6: she currently is, not like from another time.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Like it's obviously, this just happened 10 seconds ago. Oh shit.
- 58:46Speaker 1: That was a really effective moment. Like that was cool.
- 58:49Speaker 5: That's when you're just like, it just happens to me
- 58:54Speaker 5: on a daily basis. People do that to me when
- 58:56Speaker 5: I'm like shopping at Marshall's. I'll get a photo on
- 58:59Speaker 5: Twitter of me Looking like I do now with like
- 59:01Speaker 5: a jacked up meth head ponytail and half my face,
- 59:05Speaker 5: you know, just looking like I got punched and I'm
- 59:08Speaker 5: picking up some gray t-shirt. and it's a side view
- 59:11Speaker 5: with a double chin. And I'm just like, Hey, thanks for,
- 59:13Speaker 5: thanks for taking that shot. So was I not supposed
- 59:16Speaker 5: to take those photos when you were in the gym?
- 59:18Speaker 5: I'm talking about the photos you took of me in
- 59:19Speaker 5: the gym.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I mean, I tagged you in them. Isn't that proper etiquette?
- 59:22Speaker 1: At least tag the person in it and be like,
- 59:24Speaker 1: I took this horrible picture of you. I don't want
- 59:27Speaker 1: everyone to see. I try not to stalker photo. I
- 59:33Speaker 1: try to control myself. But, yeah, this guy, he has
- 59:37Speaker 1: no problem stalker photoing.
- 59:39Speaker 5: Yeah, he had no problem stalker photoing. I think for
- 59:43Speaker 5: me it should have been a little bit more of
- 59:46Speaker 5: a shift or something when he realized she couldn't hear.
- 59:50Speaker 5: There was a little bit something there. But I think
- 59:53Speaker 5: somebody who is that predatorial and that sort of person
- 59:58Speaker 5: I feel like there would be a shift in that
- 59:59Speaker 5: kind of person. Like, oh, this is a fun thing.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: To play with.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: I'm trying to decide when did he exactly decide? How
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: far in was he before he realized that?
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: He realized it when the girl ran up to the window.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: Again, he doesn't start getting details until the boyfriend shows
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: up three-fourths of the way through the movie.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: So it's like he doesn't really know specifics, but I
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: guess at that point you just kind of assume.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: It's when the neighbor ran up, and she's banging, and
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: then he starts banging. And you kind of see a
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: shift in his eyes.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: And he backs away.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Because it seems like when he's in the house, it
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: should be this, like, you should see this, oh, we're
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: taking this up a notch. Like, now it's a new
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: game for me. That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: Because the fact, well, and this makes me think, like, okay,
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: is this what he normally does? And if so, did
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: he just bypass the neighbor? Because, like, she just ran
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: in and was dead. Like, did we miss a whole
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: other movie where this went on for an hour.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: At her house? Yeah, and is that going to be
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: another movie? Oh, prequel time.
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: It's smart to do.
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: Does he just decide to off some of them and
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: then every once in a while he's like, oh no,
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: this one. So maybe there was this like, oh, now
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: I think I can play an extra little level of
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: this game.
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. I felt like it should have
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: been sort of that clockwork orange fucking with you thing.
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: Where he's enjoying it.
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: Since he got to the point where he was talking
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: to her too, which is kind of cool that because
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: she can read lips.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: He doesn't even have to be in the room.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: He's on the outside of the door and he's talking
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: to her through the door and she knows what he's saying,
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: which is unusual.
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a cool element.
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: Yeah, there is a cool little element that gets thrown
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: in because of her different abilities, we'll say, to be PC.
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: But yeah, I like that they kind of play with that.
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: But it does seem like while he was in there,
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: he would have been like, he would have just been
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: telling her, okay, this is a new level and I'm
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: gonna kill you. But even if he laid it out,
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: because by the end it's like, okay, he will not
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: break the windows. He obviously could have at any point
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: and just gone in and kill her. But he'd still
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: try to get in them when she'd escape. but he
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: wouldn't just pick up a rock and smash the window.
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: So there was some sort of, so it would almost
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: have been interesting for him to just come out at
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: the beginning and be like, this is my game, this
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: is what I do, I'm gonna play by these rules,
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: and if you can get away, if you can just
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: kill me, just lay it all down, it would have
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: been kind of interesting too, because then it's already... a
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: little meta that we know he's playing a game with her,
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: but it would be very like, this is how horror movies.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Work now in the 21st century. I'm going to tell
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: you what the rules are.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: Sort of like choose your own adventure thing where she's
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: got to figure it out throughout. That would be cool
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: because then it becomes like a survival thing.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: And then you have the ability to answer the questions
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: people are asking at the TV in a way that
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: is logical because it can still be a movie, but
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: she's trying to survive. So those logical things need to
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: exist for her to accomplish that.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I am sorry to scare you.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: There's been him.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: What the hell happened here?
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: I responded to a call. I got here, I found
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: the place like this. There was someone inside. He came
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: running past me, knocked me cold.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: I woke up without my phone, my gun, or my radio.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I need to call for backup. Do you know who
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: lives here? Yeah, it's Maddie.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: Maddie Young.
- 1:03:29Speaker 7: She's a friend of ours.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: She live alone?
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: Yeah, my girlfriend comes here all over the time.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: I thought maybe she was.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Watching a movie.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: It's Sarah.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Sarah Green.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Okay, sir. I'm sorry. Can I use your phone?
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: Call for backup.
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: I should have called it in when I first got here,
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: but I just started this job, and when I got here,
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: the house was all.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: You police?
- 1:03:46Speaker 7: Deputy. Just barely, though.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I can call the sheriff. I can just use your.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: Here you go.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:03:57Speaker 7: Thanks.
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: The one thing that I liked that was different than
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: most movies like this, where it's a sort of home invasion,
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: I guess you want to call it, is when the
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: guy shows up, the boyfriend or whoever he was, he
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: actually did things that I would do.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Well, and he figured it out.
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: Usually they're just an idiot and they show up and
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: they're there for like 60 seconds tops before they get offed. Yeah.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: So the fact that he has this whole.
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: Conversation with him and like at the beginning, you know,
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: you just immediately say, oh, yeah, this guy's a cop,
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: you know, whatever.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: But it's just like very slowly.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: He starts going, this doesn't add up. This guy doesn't
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: seem like a cop. Nothing makes sense in the story
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: he's telling.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: That was a really well done scene, especially from the
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: guy who played the terrorizer. I felt that's such a
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: fine line to have him be able to switch in
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: and out and for both of those things to be believable.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: It is, yeah.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: It is one of those I was, again, trying to,
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: process it for the real world i'm like a guy
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: that's that messed up that could also be that functional
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: like in a normal conversation that's yeah that's a that's a.
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: Fine it's a tough thing to do especially in this
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: genre i feel like people get away in rom-coms dramas
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: anything else they people let things slide more yeah because
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: there's a different landscape around that with these horror movies
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: and Like we said before, they don't need a lot
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: of money, but the acting and the writing has to
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: be good.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: I think it's specific to the genre.
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: That covers so much other stuff. And especially, like, you
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: can't always do that. Like, I guess dramas, maybe rom-coms,
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: you're in trouble from the get-go.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: But, like, if the writing's really good, it can carry
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: it a lot further. It can carry it.
- 1:05:38Speaker 6: When you get into, like, you know, sci-fi, you know,
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: and bigger projects that, like, very dependent on things like
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: having decent special effects.
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:47Speaker 6: There's other stuff that like unless you find a really
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: clever way to make it a stripped down version like
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: you're gonna suffer by having a low budget but horror
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: usually that's not the case. As long as you can
- 1:05:57Speaker 6: make an effective you know blood scene like that's really
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: all the fans want is just like oh that looked
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: cool okay good enough now write a cool you know
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: story and that's they're in like they're totally invested.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: I love when it's legit gore.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: I don't like bullshit gore. I want you to go like, yeah.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: That gets on my nerves more and more. Well, I
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: guess it always has. It's getting a little better.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: Like I do see times when it's done relatively well
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: since we referenced Walking Dead. They do a pretty decent job.
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: Like it's one of the few times I see them
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: mix them together and realize kind.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Of what needs to be practical and what you can't.
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: I mean, there are times you just can't do things
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: in the real world and make it work.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: So it's like, that's one of the few times I
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: feel like they can balance it pretty well.
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: But a lot of movies, like, if they're just full-on
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: CG blood, it looks like shit.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: And you know it.
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: Like, people watch movies all the time, you know, like,
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: there's one remake that I really liked, The Last House
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: on the Left, with Tony Goldwyn.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Yes, I did see that one.
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: And Hasselbeck, was it, not Hasselbeck, what's the actress's name?
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: The blonde chick. Is it Elizabeth Hasselbeck? God damn it, Google.
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: This episode brought to you by Google. Was it The
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: Last House on the Left, right?
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Yes. I'm thinking, no, it's... I gotta get the actress's name.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: I know what her name is, because she's in the.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: Elizabeth?
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: She's in the thing with Pat Healy.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: She's been in a couple horror movies, right?
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: She was in that crazy mermaid show. What crazy mermaid show?
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I'm not making all this up.
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: Come on.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Isn't it Sarah Paxton?
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you're... Sarah Paxton's a young girl. Monica
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: Potter is the mom.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I was thinking of the girl that all
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: the horrible.
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: Things happen to you. Sarah Paxton. Yeah, what else was
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: she in?
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: She's a mermaid at one point. Let's see. I really
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: like Sarah.
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: Shark Night.
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: She was in Shark Night. Darcy's Wildlife.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: The Innkeepers. The Innkeepers.
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: She's awesome.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: Have you seen The Innkeepers?
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: If we're making picks, yeah, it is because it's, again,
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: back to the writing, it is so much like a
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: almost like at moments it's a comedy it's a drama
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: but like it's between it's her and and pat healy
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: and they are just they work at this tiny little
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: inn and they well no it's it's they work in
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: this tiny little inn and it's going out of business
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: so like nobody's around it's just the two of them
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: and a good portion of the movie it's the two
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: of them goofing off and like you really kind of
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: get invested in these well-written characters, and they're both terrific actors.
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: So just the relationship alone is worth watching. Again, super
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: plug for The Innkeepers because it's awesome. But yeah, it
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: also eventually you're like, oh, this is a good horror
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: movie too. But above and beyond that, just the performances
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: and the writing on those two characters are really great.
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: See, and the thing is, that's the main thing. And
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: the thing about The Last House on the Left is,
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: to get back into what I was saying before, This girl,
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: Sarah Paxton, whatever her name was in the movie, fucking.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: call her Sarah Paxton.
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: She was a powerful girl that survived terrible things. These
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: guys totally defiling her and then her getting shot and
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: all of that.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: It's one of those... Have you seen the original? I have.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I feel like it changes the entire story.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Oh, yes, totally.
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: To the point that, like, why would you even call
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: it that title? Like, I feel like just make your
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: own movie. Because I kind of appreciate, again, the first
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: one's not a well-made movie.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: No, it's not.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: It's just horrifying. Like, the moments in the woods are disturbing. Yes. Like,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: full-on disturbing.
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: No, it wasn't.
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: But there's other parts that are just dumb and badly
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: made because he had no budget.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: But the new one is pretty solid for what it is,
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: but the fact that it changes that dynamic so hard
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: because it needs to be her story at that point.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: She's the survivor. Where the other one, you killed our daughter.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Aside from the other horrible things, but once she's dead,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: it becomes the parent's story.
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: And it's everything they do from that point on, you're like,
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: hell yeah. Yeah, they should have just changed it. So
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: why wouldn't you, yeah, why wouldn't you just be, and
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: people are gonna be like, oh, it's kind of like that.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Well, fine, good. Yes, we know it's kind of like that.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: But it's not like it's a different story.
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: Yeah, we wrote it inspired by that, we'll say. But
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: then we changed things, and now it's a different story.
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: Yeah, it should have been like an inspired, because there's
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: always like, based on true events. Yeah.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: There should be inspired by.
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: Yeah, they redo that kind of stuff all the time anyway.
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: I mean, that story is taken from a book, is
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: it not? It's an old, old story. So it's like,
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: why wouldn't you just base it on that? That's what
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: they always do when they remake a remake.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: They're like, oh, we're going back to do the book.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: We're going to make it more like the book. We're
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: going to true grit this mother.
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: So yeah, I was like, why would they not just like,
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: call it the original French title or whatever it was.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: And just like not drag the other movie into it. Again,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: it's because some producer wants to make money. I really
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: actually understand why.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Yeah, when you get down to the politics.
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: I understand on the sad side of my brain that's like,
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: oh yeah, money. But from the artistic standpoint, I'm like,
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: it changes the dynamic so much.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: And I really, I love that the parents, I love
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: that where somebody gets to have revenge because it's so cathartic.
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: first of all and second of all it's good to
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: like see that in a movie where it doesn't end
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: in that Hollywood way like no the parents are gonna
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: get their opportunity to get revenge on what these terrible
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: people did to their daughter do.
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: You think that final scene is showing it is going
- 1:11:32Speaker 6: too far.
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: It's one of my favorite final scenes it took a
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: lot like it took a lot of hits for that
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: like I heard a lot of people that were like
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: I like the whole movie that last part didn't need
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: to be there it may it may not have needed
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: to be but It does two things. It does three things.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: It's a little gratuitous.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: That it is.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: That's one way to look at it. Another way to
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: look at it is you see how a father's willing
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: to revenge his daughter. Or the third thing is you
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: see an opportunity for another movie where the dad goes
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: fucking crazy.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Which.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: We didn't quite get it.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: No, because you think about things that happen.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: It's pretty good. I'd like to see him do that, actually.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: Like a real life turn. Like when kids are killed,
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: the parents don't stay together because it's so terrible.
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: It just destroys their lives from that point on.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: I mean, his daughter was basically raped and almost murdered
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: by these people. That changes people.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: I would like to see that.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: And then it would be interesting to see because at
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: that point, yes, within the moment, you're going to want
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: to get revenge.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: You're going to want to take out all your anger.
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: What happens after that? After that final scene when he's like,
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: oh shit, what did I just do? He has to
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: kind of live with that.
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: That final scene's so good.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I was like, within the moment, yes, that makes sense. Revenge, adrenaline,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: all of that.
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: But six months later when you're in therapy going, so
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: then I... It would be interesting to revisit that character
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: later and be like, oh, how messed up are you now?
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: Yeah. What's going on in your life, Tony Goldwyn? Well,
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: you know what happened to him? He went on to
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: become president. So he really turned the bad into good.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Can we vote for him?
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: I would like to.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: I'm okay with that, given the way things are going.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: Olivia Pope on his side? Hell yeah.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I'm okay with that.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: We deviated to so many movies from our original.
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: As we said, spiraling was going to happen.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: So did you like Hush? What would you give it
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: out of a Netflix rating out.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Of four stars?
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: I did, and it's funny because I went back and
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: forth to the point I think I even went back and.
- 1:13:30Speaker 6: I think I backed it off to a three. I
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: thought four was a little too much. I gave it
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: a three because original idea, kind of. And the acting
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: was good.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: And it was simple. I'm trying to think.
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: Because that's the thing. I don't know what to take
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: off for. Because I feel like everything's pretty solid. Maybe
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: that's it. Maybe it just doesn't go above and beyond
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: in any weird way. Again, it doesn't have visuals that
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: are anything that I wouldn't expect in this type of movie.
- 1:13:59Speaker 6: It doesn't take any weird story turns that you didn't
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: see coming it's just basically a see that's the thing
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: i was gonna say that would have pissed people off
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: but i would have given it but i might have
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: bumped up the four right then and there if she
- 1:14:14Speaker 6: got to the again we're jumping all the way in
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: if she got to the end put the uh busted
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: out the laptops like okay uh love you mom and
- 1:14:21Speaker 6: dad i'm going out fighting close the laptop picked up
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: the knife turned around as he's breaking through the door
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: credits i'm.
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: Like That would have been dope.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: That's freaking artistic and badass.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: That would have been like, it would have easily bumped
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: up to at least four.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: It would have pissed everyone off.
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: It would have pissed everyone off because everybody wants everything
- 1:14:39Speaker 6: spelled out for them. I always, sometimes that bugs the
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: hell out of me when they're like, I have.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: To nail down every little thing now.
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: Because people are going to whine about it. If we don't,
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: I'm like, fuck them. Your job is to make the
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: movie that is best for you as the director or
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: writer or whatever. But like, When you feel that little
- 1:14:58Speaker 6: catering to the audience of like, but.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: They want to know what happened. They need the end.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: They need to know. Yeah, that was badass. That would
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: be badass.
- 1:15:04Speaker 6: Because that moment was cool when she's like going out fighting,
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: close the laptop.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: I'm just like, that's badass.
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: That would have been badass.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Like that I would have kind of preferred as an ending.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I want to see this guy
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: take a knife to the head or whatever. But then
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: it becomes what it is.
- 1:15:20Speaker 6: Then it becomes me screaming at the TV going, why
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: would you not put your back to the wall? Why
- 1:15:24Speaker 6: would you, like there's a window behind.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: You you can't hear.
- 1:15:29Speaker 6: Your only option at this point is to have him
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: in sight at all times. You can't be anywhere where
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: he can be behind you.
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: Well that brings me to that scene that I did
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: like where they went back to her perspective where she's
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: in the tub and he comes down Behind her.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Again, the rest of that shot is pretty cool. Well,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: then you're like, where the fuck did this guy come
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: out of the ceiling? Yeah, it just didn't make sense
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: that she put herself in that situation. But that shot
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: was pretty well done.
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: It was well done, but it's like, where did it
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: come from the fucking ceiling? I'm all about logistics.
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: I think there is a window behind the tub.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Oh, was there? Yeah. Oh, I didn't see that. No,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: it is, because you see the glass breaking. It does
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: that big close-up on her face. You're right, and the
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: glass breaks. It's in slow-mo.
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: But again, like, she wouldn't hear that, but you wouldn't feel, again,
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: there's weird proximity things that we pick up on.
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: But then what happens that I liked is it's all
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: in her perspective.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: The rest of that shot is pretty good.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: And he took for granted where her senses are going
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: to compensate, and then you see her hair move, and
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: then that whole thing shifts.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: Even if she wasn't, like, extrasensory, like, he's right there
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: on top of them. If somebody comes up to you
- 1:16:43Speaker 6: and is like breathing on your neck, you need to
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: stab him in the face.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: It's okay. I liked that scene.
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: I was like, okay, that's pretty cool.
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: But otherwise, it was shot pretty clever and like you do,
- 1:16:52Speaker 6: other than me screaming at the TV at the same time.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: It was pretty well done.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: Yeah. So you didn't hate it?
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't. I was trying to think what else.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: I tried to at least keep track of some of
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: this insanity. How about, as I said, Swiss cheese. I
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: have to write things down.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: Swiss cheese.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I love cheese.
- 1:17:09Speaker 6: We're going to go get some when we raid the
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: wedding in there and go get some of those sandwiches
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: you made earlier. I did want to see what you
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: thought on the, again, after she said it, then I
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: started calling, oh, this is the writer brain portion of
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: the movie where she stops and we go completely in
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: her head where she's talking to herself. And we see
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: the writer part of her make up the other scenario
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: of like, oh, here's this ending that I'm not going
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: to use. Here's this ending here. So we see that
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: it's again, I feel like if they were going to do.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: That, they almost should have made use of it a
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: little more. Like, yeah, they just kind of do a
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: one finale thing.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: But I'm like, again, if we were making a different
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: movie here, like if once every 20 minutes or so
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: she went through this. Okay, if I go right here
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: and I run through the woods and then I get,
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: I'm going to get stabbed in the leg. So backtrack
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: and like we reset that scene and she goes, so
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: instead I'm going to do this. Like, again, we're making
- 1:17:59Speaker 6: a different movie now, but I feel like if we're
- 1:18:01Speaker 6: going to use that little game.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Don't just sprinkle it in.
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: It'd be cool to do it three, four times. Yeah,
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: at least do a couple. Because I've seen movies kind
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: of do that. And sometimes you're like bullshit. You know,
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: like you just didn't want to live with the ending
- 1:18:13Speaker 6: you just did. So you'll like dream sequence and like
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: you'll find some way to get out of it. But
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: if you set it up as like this is the
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: parameters of what we're doing with this movie, it would
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: be kind of cool to like explore that and be like.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish I would have done that a little
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: bit more. Yeah, we could see where this goes. So
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: it was cool. But again, I feel like it had
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: more potential than they even knew.
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: Yeah, they definitely should have gotten into that a little bit.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: It would have been interesting.
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: That would have been interesting to see a couple more
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: scenarios worked out.
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: Yeah, especially since she set up at the beginning how
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: much she like that's how I write my novels.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: Yeah, bitch, do your novel.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Do your motherfucking novel. I was giving you a bitch.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: Hold on. That's right. We learned some fun. sign language. Bitch.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: I know bitch.
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: You karate chop your chin.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: I know kissing and storytelling. Storytelling.
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: I just did hand sprinkles.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: You guys, you're watching these at home, right?
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys are getting these.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: We're telling you you're a bitch, all of you.
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: Everyone listening is a bitch.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Bunch of damn bitches.
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: But some of the other random things, the lesson we
- 1:19:11Speaker 6: learned from this movie, ladies.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Work on upper body strength. You never know when you're
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: going to need a load of crossbow.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: Push-ups.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: We have to do push-ups.
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: Yeah, just don't forget the arms. Yeah, we really need
- 1:19:24Speaker 6: to do push-ups.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I'm assuming.
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: hard to load but i was like that made that
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: impossible i was just like she shouldn't be that like
- 1:19:31Speaker 6: she's not she's not like noodle armed right like she's
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: a functioning human being but.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: Women are really really weak up top i'm telling the booty.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: You just gotta get you gotta get work on.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: Your upper arm strength and your cardiovascular strength that's yeah
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: and also take zinc every day so you heal quick
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: echinacea so you don't catch a cold zinc kegels so
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: you can smash his fist with your vag hole That'd
- 1:19:55Speaker 5: be my horror movies to tricks.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: All right, I'm going to practice that when I get home. Yeah,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: do it. It's going to be awesome. Shoving zinc in there.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Isn't that what you said? I wouldn't really pay attention.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: Zinc in your badge.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I'll do that as soon as I get home. The
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: one thing I was going to say, it was kind
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: of like I do like, because it is a very,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: we live in this little horror world, especially as horror fans.
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: So when you get to that point of like, okay,
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: we find out earlier she can't make a break for
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: it because he's got the crossbow. So she finally gets
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: the crossbow from him, and she stabbed him in the leg,
- 1:20:28Speaker 6: so she can't make a run for it anymore.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: That frustrated me. I was like, that's kind of fun
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: irony there.
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: It is irony, but I was like, come on.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: It was like the one shot.
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: But even then, you're like, the whole time, you're just like, okay,
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: if you can just like, or like all those things,
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: like if you could just, if he misses you with
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: a third arrow, you're home free, right? Because by the
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: time he finds the arrows, you can be so far ahead,
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: he can't even use the crossbow to hit you anymore.
- 1:20:52Speaker 6: So I was like, she'd already, didn't she like that
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: last one was already out there like she should have
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: just kind of kept going at that point but so
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: there's that moment or like he climbs up there when
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: she's on the roof and she gets the crossbow and
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: like hits him with it and then he climbs up
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: again I'm like now hit him with it again like
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: there's no reason for.
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: You to run to get back in the bathroom.
- 1:21:13Speaker 6: I was like yeah at that point even if he
- 1:21:14Speaker 6: reaches up and catches it there's a 75% chance you're
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: gonna knock him off the roof like either way spray
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: him with something Eventually.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: We get to that.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: We get to that.
- 1:21:24Speaker 6: And that, I thought, was kind of fun because then
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: we have The Blind vs. the Deaf, which sounds like
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: a really.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Cheesy, schlocky movie from back in the day.
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: Yeah. Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, one of my favorite movies
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: of all mother fucking time.
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: I was going like exploitation movie from the producers that
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: brought you They Call Her One-Eye.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: It's The Blind vs. the Deaf.
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: One of my favorite movies of all time. My mom
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: just watched Here No Evil, See No Evil and she
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: texted me saying she was gut laughing.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: It's been a while on that one. I remember.
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: So damn good.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Stir Crazy is pretty entertaining. Silver Streak, Stir Crazy. Silver Streak,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: you know, that's the classic.
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: All the movies they did together were epic.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: That last one? What was the last one?
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: The last one was.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: I feel like the last one you could feel.
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: Stir Crazy was the last one they did together.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: No, I think that was the second one.
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: Really?
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: There was one after that when Richard Pryor was already hurting.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: You could already feel him kind of having.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: To back off.
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: He started to go crazy on the Stir Crazy set.
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: So maybe the movie after that was the one. I
- 1:22:20Speaker 6: think Hear No Evil, See No Evil was the next one.
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: I think there was one after that. What the hell
- 1:22:25Speaker 6: was it? The fourth one in that run that you
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: could already tell he was hurting.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Google. And it was not. I'm trying to think what
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: that was. I'm going to find it.
- 1:22:34Speaker 6: Because it had another cheesy gimmick involved with it. It
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: was kind of trying to be Hear No Evil, See
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: No Evil kind of thing.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Another you. There we go. That's the last one that
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I feel like... Yeah, that's when he started to lose
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: his mind.
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: You can see him hurting from all the physical stuff.
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: You can see Gene starting to get older.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: Yeah, and you can see the Parkinson's sort of start
- 1:22:55Speaker 5: to set in.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's kind of sad because it's one of those...
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: It's really sad. You think back to.
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: Them and those other movies and then this just feels
- 1:23:02Speaker 6: like a sad imitation. So yeah, I think it was
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: best just kind of capping off.
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: That movie cost $ 26 million and only made $ 2 million.
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: The last one?
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I can believe it.
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: Let's see what Hear No Evil, See No Evil brought in.
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: See No Evil, Hear No Evil.
- 1:23:18Speaker 6: See, I feel like that one still, they were still
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: kind of riding. They were both pretty popular at that point.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: It was not, wow, that movie did not get a lot,
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: it was not critically accepted well. That's shocker.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: 6.8 out of 10.
- 1:23:33Speaker 9: Hmm.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: Stir Crazy, come on.
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: That one I think has to be.
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: IMDB is tough.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: 6.8 out of 10? For Stir Crazy? Yeah! That's pretty weird.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: Speaking of Stir Crazy, I have to go wash my
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: gym sweat off in about five minutes. How do you
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: want to wrap this up?
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: I'm telling you, that's the way.
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: We have to really button this for people.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: That's the way to do it, though. Just go up there,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: full gym sweat.
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: I'm going right into the full gym sweat.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: But everyone needs a button.
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: We can't just... end this the way you wanted Hush
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: to end.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: What type of button are we looking for here?
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: I don't know. Maybe a nice velvet, like a nice
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: button on a Benjamin Franklin suit. Like a really artisan button.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: An antique button that you found in a thrift store.
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: Yeah, like really classic.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Very nice. Alright.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: So overall, Hush wasn't so bad. You're not mad at
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: the recommendation that I gave.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: No. I did enjoy.
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: Again, I feel like it is one of those that
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: like It feels very homey for horror fans.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Would you recommend it to horror fans?
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Again, I think a middle of the road recommendation. It's
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: a middle of the road, yeah.
- 1:24:39Speaker 6: I won't go in overselling it because then you're going
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: to be like, so I think it'll be somewhere in
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: the middle.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Kind of entertaining. Be like, if you like horror movies,
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: this sets you up. You're in a cabin in the woods.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: You're away from it.
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: It has the very- It has the elements.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: The trappings of what.
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: You want in a cheesy slasher movie, but it does
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: a weird little twist along the way.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: It doesn't.
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: It doesn't break new ground, really. But it does kind
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: of give you a little twist in the middle there.
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: And does a few things you don't see coming. So
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: for the most part, it's still a pretty fun. Middle
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: of the road.
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: I agree with that. It's a pretty fun horror movie.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: But it is, yeah. Not as bad as most that
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: are out there.
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: And again, it's well made.
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: Being from that director, I kind of, I do, I
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: saw he's got two or three other things in the
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: works now.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: That's exciting.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: One of which was pretty huge.
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: Horror? Yeah. That was.
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: Oh, man. Google.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I'll do Google music.
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: He's Googling. Brian's looking shit up.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Okay. It's Gerald's Game.
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: That's the Stephen King novel. So handing that guy one
- 1:25:50Speaker 6: of the creepiest Stephen King novels.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Is like, That's a cool mixture. That's kind of fun.
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: Is Stephen King going to be a consultant?
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: Do we know?
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: Because once he gets his hands on it.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: He likes to get bitchy if he's not involved. So
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: let's hope he at least has some sort of executive
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: producer credit. Dangerous.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: Just let him be involved so he doesn't take matters
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: in his own hands.
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I think at this point he would probably, otherwise
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: we'll get a miniseries a decade from now.
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: Yeah, that's just like him being like, this is what
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: I wanted it to be.
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: No, this is not wrong.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: I love Stephen King. I read Don's Macabre when I
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: was young and I was like, wow.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: That's what happened.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: That's what happened. That's one of the terrible things.
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: We were all trying to figure out what went wrong
- 1:26:26Speaker 6: with her. Now it's all Stephen King's fault.
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: And I'm about to read Stephen King on writing his process.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: This will come in handy when our horror movie comes together. Yes,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: we'll use that. You're welcome. We'll have Stephen come in
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: as a consultant one of the days.
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: With his creepy glasses.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: One of the days. We don't want him bugging us
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: the whole time.
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: He's an alcoholic too, so we can just keep him
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: happy at the wet bar.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: This is going to spike a lot of control. By
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: the craft services.
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: Now, craft services, I can see him getting into that.
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: He likes him a good sandwich, too.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: So, all right. We said we liked the movie.
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: I at least want to give you a chance to
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: tell people, of the 40 or 50 things you've got
- 1:27:04Speaker 6: going on, what is it you want to push to
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: them to go check out?
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: I mean, check me out live on the road, for sure. JesseMay.com,
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: check me out. And check out my podcast, The Sharp
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: Tongue Podcast. Those are the two things I put the
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: most work into right now that I enjoy the most.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: How do you like this podcasting game? It's fun.
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: You get to talk to different people. I learn something
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: new every time I podcast. I podcast every... people I
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: want to talk to. I'm not trying to please anybody
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: else besides myself because it's going to come across like
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: you doing this. You like this?
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: It is one of those, this is what makes me
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: want to keep doing it.
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: This is an Emmy episode right here.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: I've questioned many times, do they give Oscars for pot?
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Because they should.
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: They should call them potties.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they do actually. Do they?
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: I think there is a podcast awards and I think
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: they're referred to them as potties.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: You didn't too late to claim that domain. You missed
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: that one.
- 1:27:56Speaker 8: That don't name oh god too many callbacks so the
- 1:28:01Speaker 8: yeah I think this is what makes it work for
- 1:28:05Speaker 8: me because I spend way too much time editing like
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: editing don't get me wrong there's a little piece to
- 1:28:12Speaker 8: that again I think there's a weird OCD control freak
- 1:28:14Speaker 8: part of me that wants it to be put together
- 1:28:17Speaker 8: right so I don't think I could just be done
- 1:28:19Speaker 8: with it and hand it off to somebody anyway.
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: But I think, yeah, it's still a lot of work.
- 1:28:24Speaker 6: Like more than people realize considering we're not really making
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: a killing on these. But the fact that we put
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: as much work in as we do, and many people
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: have told me over the years, why the hell are
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: you still doing this?
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: And it's this moment. Yeah, the fun of it. It's
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: these just ending up in random places.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: You're in a hotel in front of a 128.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: Crashing a wedding, hanging out with you.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: We're at the Maggard Kane wedding. You're my plus one,
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: you bastard.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and I better get some free sandwiches out of
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: this deal. Where's the bar?
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: Is it open bar?
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure we heard the music we avoided earlier.
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: I know, we should just go into the reception room.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: We're crashing it. There's going to be some horrible dancing later.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: How can we not?
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: Again, we've taken the picture under the little gazebo action.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: They can't stop us. They probably can. We'll get kicked out.
- 1:29:09Speaker 6: But it's going to be fun anyway. So it's these
- 1:29:13Speaker 6: ridiculous moments that I end up in that keep me
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: coming back every time. So I assume you have.
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: That same thing. Same thing.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: So where do you find that podcast?
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: You find that podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, and SoundCloud. Sharp tongue. Zing.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: All right. Anything else to pass along?
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: Just that.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Herpes laced kiss. Oh, that's what it is. Again. I just.
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: High school all over for you.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: I can't get rid of it. That's kind of how
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: herpes works.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: It's a gift that keeps on giving.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: Just drag it around like luggage.
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: I'll send you some Valtrex.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: All right. I'll take what I can get at this point.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: You're welcome. So thank you for taking time out of
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: this crazy tour of yours to come crash a wedding
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: with me.
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: Thank you for having me on. It's one of my
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: favorite things.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: To talk about. Hanging out, talking movies.
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: For sure. You have to come on my podcast when
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: you find yourself in L.A.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: I'm all for it.
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: All right, cool, man.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: If we can make this happen.
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: Keep the horror dream alive.
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: You said horror, right? I know.
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: We'll never know. Let's leave that open.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Let's unbutton that. The horror dream alive. We don't know
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: what I said.
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: Let the audience decide what happens.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: We are in a hotel. Let's go.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: It goes both ways. Yeah, okay. You're welcome, America.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: So many jokes just waiting to be done.
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: Not enough time.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Let's wrap this up. Button's on it. Button's on.
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: Otherwise, thank you for joining us and we will return
- 1:30:33Speaker 6: next time.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Same Geek Feed. Thanks for listening. I got a certain
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: little girl, she's on my mind.
- 1:31:11Speaker 9: No doubt about it, she looks so fine. She's the
- 1:31:14Speaker 9: best girl that I ever had. Sometimes you're gonna make
- 1:31:17Speaker 9: me feel so bad.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: La, la, la, la, la.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: Hush, hush.
- 1:31:38Speaker 9: I thought I heard her calling my name now.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Hush, hush.
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: She broke my heart, but her lover just seemed now.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Hush, hush.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: I thought I heard her calling my name now. Hush, hush.
- 1:31:51Speaker 9: I need the love of the night not to blame now.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: Now, now.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Got early in the morning.
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: Now, now.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: .
- 1:32:14Speaker 9: .
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: .
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: .
- 1:32:33Speaker 9: .
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: Hush, hush.
- 1:32:40Speaker 9: She broke my heart, but her love had just seen her.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: Hush, hush.
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: Thought I heard her calling my name.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: Now hush, hush.
- 1:32:49Speaker 9: I need the love of the night not to bring now.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: You got to hurry in the morning. Room 128 just
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: came home.
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: Guys, life is so cyclical. He did end it, but
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: I just want to tell you guys that door shut.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: I don't know if you heard it in the background.
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: It was Room 128. They came back as we're ending
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: the podcast. Coincidence?
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: We're lurking around outside of their home. Their home away
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: from home.
- 1:34:53Speaker 5: Their hotel.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: Their place for their stuff. They have a place for
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: their stuff when they're away from home.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: They just came back when we were done.
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: Two weirdos are hanging out in front of it talking
- 1:35:02Speaker 6: about keeping the smashing, killing people.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Herpes alive or whatever stupid things.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: We were saying.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: It's important to keep the herpes alive.
- 1:35:09Speaker 6: So go over there and kiss the doorknob and give
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: them some herpes and we're going to get out of here.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: Bye.
