- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering one piece
- 0:13episodes four fifty two, four fifty three, and four fifty four to the
- 0:18Navy Headquarters, off to rescue Ace, and then the Friends Whereabouts, the
- 0:25Watheria weatherea report, and the cyborg animals and the Friends Whereabouts, the Chick
- 0:31of a Giant Bird and a pink showdown. In these episodes, Buggy has
- 0:40more of a reputation than he expected, and he doesn't embrace that as quickly
- 0:44as I thought he would. And then we get to see what's going on
- 0:48with everybody who has been scattered to the winds. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:11Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much to
- 1:15Florian for commissioning this episode. I appreciate all of you, especially Florian for
- 1:22bearing with me when I was supposed to have watched one of these episodes for
- 1:25the last one, when I did the wanna be with Florian, and I
- 1:30just like misread or just fucked up. I don't know what I did,
- 1:34but I didn't watch it, and it actually turns out to be like a
- 1:38kind of a if I'm going to mess up this week worked out well because
- 1:42I think a lot of what I would have focused on would have been pretty
- 1:49quick to talk about. So it's going to be easy, I think,
- 1:53to fit this one in. So four fifty two to the Navy headquarters.
- 2:00This is unexpectedly a plot line where Buggy thinks that he has been overestimated,
- 2:10but is not upset about it. He starts off protesting, though, and
- 2:17that's the part that I found really surprising. I'm gonna get to exactly how
- 2:22this falls out, but that was the first thing I really wanted to mention,
- 2:25because all Buggy does is attempt to bolster his own street cred, and
- 2:36he really likes being seen as this like badass, and I think it's supposed
- 2:42to be that he realizes that the Navy is going to be after him in
- 2:46a particular way, the Marines due to their mistaken belief of him being like
- 2:53a real ringleader in this. I want to say, though, the fact
- 3:02that people are saying, I don't know why they're zeroing in on him and
- 3:06not the warlords. I do. He's the one that's been like he was
- 3:12one of the first escapees. Yeah, to me, this is not a
- 3:17mistake. The fact that they focus so much on Buggy. The only thing
- 3:22that's puzzling is why they don't also focus on Mister Three the same way,
- 3:27because he was amongst the first crew, like the original group that escaped,
- 3:32who then led to all of the others escaping. But I really feel like
- 3:38mister Three is as much like one of the main players as Buggy is,
- 3:46and I think the only reason that he isn't treated the same way is because
- 3:51of Buggy's history with Goldie Roger. So anyway, I'm gonna back up to
- 3:59the beginning of the episode, because this we are coming right off the tail
- 4:04end of Mister Too sacrificing himself bon Clay to ensure that all of our friends
- 4:12were able to get out of here and open the doors to I've really you,
- 4:20guys, I don't know what I want to happen with that. I
- 4:26just have to sort of revisit it briefly. I do not believe for a
- 4:31moment that he is going to be executed, although he does look to be
- 4:35in dire peril. But I don't know how we meet up with him again
- 4:40without turning around and going back to Impel Down, And I don't want to
- 4:46do that. I want to rescue Bonclay. I don't want to go back
- 4:51to this location again, though, do you know what I mean? This
- 4:55location is done, it's over, it's a wrap. If we are going
- 5:00to rescue him, to be given a new place to do it in the
- 5:08only way that I can see that happening is if the Marines decide that this
- 5:13mass breakout renders impel Down basically null and void as a prison, which would
- 5:19make sense. I mean, there's essentially nobody left in the place, so
- 5:25maybe if they decided that they were just going to hold him somewhere, it
- 5:30would turn out to be a completely different location, and that's where we could
- 5:33rescue him from. I genuinely do not know. Like what I was going
- 5:42to say is, I don't know why they'd keep him alive, because one
- 5:45would think they would assuredly kill him. But that's like the conceit of this
- 5:49world is that people don't die, So you know, it's fine, they
- 5:55just wouldn't kill him because that's not what they do in this universe. So
- 6:01that is still fresh in everybody's mind. And when we start this episode,
- 6:08we are inside the prison again and we have all of these different like I
- 6:18don't remember I wish somebody was in the chat you guys, because I'm so
- 6:21sorry I lose track of which ones are the warlords and which ones have a
- 6:31different title that I'm already forgetting. Sure use the one who's speaking here,
- 6:35and he is in the level four heat hell, and he's saying like basically
- 6:50the fact that you guys are here, but you're underestimating everything, like the
- 6:56way that this has all gone down. And he's talking to to the one
- 7:00on the horseback who looks old, and then the mind dude Burgess, which
- 7:06is the name of the one that looks like a strong man. I like
- 7:15the conversation that is happening here. I am confused about what it is that
- 7:23they're all agreeing to, and I'm feeling like maybe it's partially the delay between
- 7:30watching episodes that doesn't usually happen, and that's why I'm forgetting some of like
- 7:34how these things link together, because I just watched these episodes like an hour
- 7:39ago, so it's not like I've forgotten since the last time, but it's
- 7:43been about three weeks since the recording of the episode with Florian I think and
- 7:51sure you is the name of the guy who was released from the jail who
- 7:57had been the until it turned out that he was just going too far for
- 8:03everybody. And he says that he doesn't see a future for himself and that
- 8:07this Blackbeard is like the exact type of person he was hoping to meet.
- 8:13So he's gonna, like apparently throw in with Blackbeard, But I do not
- 8:18see it, because Blackbeard doesn't appear to be a cruel person, and he's
- 8:28you know, self interested. He wants what he wants, but that's different
- 8:33than being like a sadist, which is what sure you is. And I
- 8:35don't know if Blackbeard is aware of that, Like what kind of dude it
- 8:41is that this is that he's talking to right now, you know? But
- 8:46regardless, we cut away from there and we go to the ship that everybody
- 8:50has escaped on that contains Buggy and Crocodile and Loofy and who's the other one,
- 8:56oh, mister zero or miss one. I remember that his name is
- 9:05something silly and I already forgot it. But Buggy is celebrating and the thing
- 9:13that we like, there's a conflict that pops up between him and Lufy because
- 9:20what he wants to do is just party and drink and Lufy is still very
- 9:24caught up in his feelings about Bonclay and feels like this guy should be honored
- 9:28for the sacrifice that he made and what he did for his friends. And
- 9:33essentially, I mean, what it comes down to is that Buggy is a
- 9:41selfish person who does not care what anybody sacrifices for him. Unless it is
- 9:46a person that meant a lot to him, which nobody really does, then
- 9:50he isn't going to care. So he tries to be like, oh,
- 9:54well, we can you know, don't live in grief, he would.
- 10:00I wanted us to be happy and to party. Let's make this a combo
- 10:03funeral, which Lufy rightfully is like, dude, you don't even know if
- 10:09he's really dead, so I don't appreciate you being like, yeah, let's
- 10:13just treat it like for sure, this guy has been executed already. But
- 10:18also, whenever anybody's like you can't just live your life in grief when a
- 10:24person has literally just died, that's the wrong time to say this shit,
- 10:28Get the fuck out of my face with it. Meanwhile, i'va is talking
- 10:33about in Azuma, who is the person with the orange and white hair,
- 10:39and basically he's saying that in Azuma is really really injured and that they're going
- 10:46to require a lot of recovery time and any kind of like speeding up of
- 10:54it will really fuck them up. So just good old fashioned bed rest and
- 11:01natural rehabilitation is what's best for him. Meanwhile, Iva has taken years off
- 11:11of his own life by using the hormones that he did to get himself healed
- 11:16from the poison. And Iva is like, I'm just really glad that Magellan
- 11:20only used one type of poison on me, because if it had been more
- 11:24than that, I don't know that I could have recovered at all. Yeah,
- 11:30So Inazuma is out for the count a bit of a shame because I
- 11:33feel like I only just barely got to see what it was he was capable
- 11:37of before he was erased from the board, you know. So then we
- 11:45have an interesting conversation that I wasn't sure what to make of. Crocodile is
- 11:52talking to what is his name, the fishman, and he is saying like,
- 11:58how surprised he is that this dude was able to muster all of these
- 12:03sharks to help them out, And he's like, I didn't really think that
- 12:11fishmen were able to like talk to fish that way, and this dude is
- 12:18like, are they not? I just thought that was how it was,
- 12:24And Crocodile initially what he said was like, I hadn't thought you could do
- 12:28that, but apparently I was wrong. And then when the fishman says I
- 12:37thought we could all do that, Crocodile just says, what do you know
- 12:43a misfit amongst the savages? Which, first of all, don't appreciate you
- 12:48calling the fishmen savages, Crocodile, after the shit you have done to people,
- 12:52you have no right. Secondly, how do you know he's a misfit?
- 12:56I mean, just because you didn't know about it. Now all of
- 13:00a sudden, you're assigning like a label to him amongst his own people.
- 13:05I'm just gonna need you to entirely back off. Okay, Crocodile, you
- 13:09don't know what you're talking about. You're being kind of offensive. Just keep
- 13:13your thoughts to yourself and observe without comment. Can you just do that?
- 13:16That would be great? But yeah, I just you know, he says
- 13:20something about like, well, we do have a violent nature, and I'm
- 13:24like, no more violent than fucking everybody else in this universe. So Jimbay.
- 13:33That's his name. God, I gets so frustrating trying to remember these
- 13:37names you guys. So he says, I owe you a great debt,
- 13:45Loofy, because you've given me a chance to rescue Ace, and Louviy's like,
- 13:50well, I'm just glad to have you on the team because you're really
- 13:56fucking badass dude, So you don't owe me anything. And he says,
- 14:03I apologize for my involvement in the unfortunate situation and is referring to our long
- 14:11we see him pop up for a second. I don't remember j Maye being
- 14:16part of that, and I don't know if you mentioned that last time we
- 14:20recorded Florian and I just forgot but genuinely don't remember, so if anybody wants
- 14:26to refresh me or maybe he was just sort of off to the side during
- 14:30things but not a big player, but yeah, and he says I may
- 14:37be one of the seven Warlords, but they'll strip me of my title after
- 14:41this, And Loofy and Buggy are in the middle of like fighting and arguing
- 14:48with each other when they both stop and they're like, wait, a warlord,
- 14:54what are you talking about? And why did you say we're ahead to
- 15:00Navy headquarters. Now what it turns out is happening here with white Beard and
- 15:07this whole war that's going on. Evidently none of these prisoners were aware of
- 15:13All of the ones who were following Iva knew, but the prisoners who were
- 15:18with Buggy, basically everybody who's dressed like they are in Rocky Horror knew what
- 15:24the deal was, and everybody who is in black and white stripes didn't.
- 15:30That's kind of where we're at, and Buggy understandably, it's just like we
- 15:35escaped, impelled down, and now you just want to basically put us in
- 15:39the next best place that they control. That is not the deal. We're
- 15:43not just gonna walk back into jail. What the hell? I love these
- 15:48other guys saying it's not our fault. You're so dense. We passed through
- 15:52the gates of justice, like you had to know the way that this current
- 15:58works. And we hear about the tub Current restricted to government passage only.
- 16:07I don't recall this. Did we know about the tub Current? It may
- 16:11have simply not been called by this name, but you know was animated.
- 16:15But evidently the way that they left means that there's only one place that they
- 16:21can head and I find that really funny. I don't know why this got
- 16:27me cackling so bad, you guys, but the whole idea of just like,
- 16:30well, once you go out these certain gates, this certain way,
- 16:33there's absolutely no option but to head straight for Navy headquarters. It's a combination
- 16:41of how ludicrous that idea is and that there's just like a current that only
- 16:47the Marines use, and also the fact that something as basic as that is
- 16:55apparently not common knowledge. So yeah, Buggy, I didn't know, and
- 17:02it feels like a pretty I don't know, maybe maybe it's protected information,
- 17:07but crocodile those So I'm just gonna go with the fact that he's right,
- 17:11calling Buggy dumb. It's one giant whirlpool that connects the government's three major facilities.
- 17:18The reason we busted out now is because we have a role to play
- 17:22in this war, so you better get used to it. And Buggy and
- 17:26mister three are just like, I cannot believe this, Like we thought we
- 17:32were done. Lufy says something about how the real fight is about to start,
- 17:36and everyone is like, real fight? What do you call what happened
- 17:41back there? And I love this they tell him to turn the ship around.
- 17:48Jimbay's like, literally, can't do that. The current do what to
- 17:52do? Like that's it, And then Lufy says, well, if you
- 17:56want to get off, then just jump off the boat. And they're like,
- 18:00hey, bro, reminder that we ate devil fruits, so will fucking
- 18:03drown. No, we can't do that, And everybody else on board is
- 18:11just remembering all of the like batties that they could potentially go up against,
- 18:15all of the other warlords, and U it's quite a what's the word I
- 18:23want roster? I guess it's probably it. And again, I'd rather be
- 18:30in prison than in this war. I understand fully that the role of these
- 18:37prisoners is to be the whiny ones right every step of the way in impel
- 18:45down. They have been excited to break out, but then they reach the
- 18:49like even slightest obstacle and immediately be in to panic and just be like,
- 18:56I hate this, I don't want to be here anymore. And I honestly
- 19:00find them very tiresome, I really do, Like, guys, get a
- 19:06hold of yourselves. For the love of God, y'all are so whiny and
- 19:12so just tiresome. That's just that's the only word I can come up with
- 19:18for this. I don't want to hear it. Nobody wants to hear it,
- 19:22Okay, so just fucking keep it to yourselves. The moment that they
- 19:30hear, well, we're going back to Navy headquarters, I'm like, all
- 19:37y'all were saying before was how you'd rather be, like, be dead than
- 19:41tortured the way that you were being tortured. So you know, which is
- 19:45it just asking what do you want? Do you want to be tortured forever?
- 19:51Is that preferable? Really stop and thinking about that what you're saying,
- 19:53because it feels to me untrue. But what do I know? And I
- 20:02love that. There's like one girl who's like all of us from New Comma
- 20:06knew about this already, and they're like, well, why didn't you tell
- 20:08us? I'm like, cause they were fucking busy. Okay, they were
- 20:11all busy. One of them literally yells mommy. This is when they begin
- 20:17hearing the ringing of a transponder snail, which you guys, takes way too
- 20:22long for them to notice and then to answer. It takes so long.
- 20:29Loofy answers it, and he tells them that it's him, which I really
- 20:34did enjoy because the whole crew is like, you shouldn't tell them that it's
- 20:41you, and I really was sort of like, guys, that ship has
- 20:45sailed literally and figuratively. Do you think that they don't know he has the
- 20:52ship? Do you think that's like you could just not say? What are
- 20:59you? Ooh, what do you think they think happened? Of course they're
- 21:03aware. Come on and yeah, this guy is saying, we received a
- 21:12report from impaled down, so let's be honest here. Before contact was lost,
- 21:17we had insider information being fed to us. Based on this, we've
- 21:21determined who the two ring leaders behind the breakout are. You the pirate known
- 21:26as straw Hat Loofy and another notorious pirate, Buggy the Clown. And again
- 21:33Buggy protests against this, but I really think that they're right. I don't
- 21:41know, I just do so. Finally, this guy says, pass me
- 21:48the documents. At first, we just assumed the clown was another two bit
- 21:52criminal, but to be frank, we were wrong. We learned he was
- 21:56a crew member on the ship of Gold. Roger, King of the Pirates,
- 22:03and everybody on Lufy's end of things begins to freak out and is blown
- 22:11away that that's who Buggy kept company with. You're a star among pirates,
- 22:18and then the marine says, and there's one more thing. He's an ally
- 22:22of one of the four emperors. His name is Red Haired Shanks. So
- 22:26if you can hear us, Buggy, we don't know how someone with your
- 22:30background has laid low for so long, but you've most certainly stepped into the
- 22:33spotlight now. And again, Buggy protests this like notoriety because they're saying that
- 22:47he has a connection with firefist Ace. But we're sure you share the same
- 22:52goal with straw Hat Loofy to rescue him from ex execution, and Buggy's saying,
- 23:00not really, but it's too late now. Like you are involved in
- 23:08this, sir. Your fingerprints are all over it metaphorically speaking. So I
- 23:14know that you sort of hoped that you'd be able to just ditch these dudes.
- 23:18And I'm not like blaming you even for wanting to do that, because
- 23:22you didn't ask to be part of a war. You just wanted to escape
- 23:25from jail. And I don't hold it against you that you weren't looking for
- 23:30a big, bad conflict to get involved in. But you know what,
- 23:33there's a price to be paid for everything. And I just let me explain
- 23:41your future. Your fates depend on whether we open the gate of justice.
- 23:47As long as we leave it closed, you can't get to Marine Ford or
- 23:49get out of the tub current. You will be completely stranded. There is
- 23:55no ce for you to escape to better get used to your surroundings, That's
- 24:00all. And I love Loofy just says, wait, Navy, I'm gonna
- 24:07rescue Ace no matter what. Better keep your potatoes peeled. I loved this
- 24:15because one of the Navy guys on the other end, who's listening to this
- 24:18exchange with like his captain or whoever it is, just looks such at the
- 24:22captain and says, are what And eventually somebody says, dude, you mean
- 24:30keep your eyes peeled. And I can't tell you all how much I appreciated
- 24:37that clarification because I didn't know what the fuck it was he was trying to
- 24:41say, truly, no idea. I was like, potatoes peeled, hold
- 24:49up, I was lost, So uh yeah, I just really found that
- 24:56funny, and the fact that everybody around him is just like, dude,
- 24:59what do you even mean? I also have this question. So yeah,
- 25:04they hang up at this point and Luviy is just standing there fucking pissy as
- 25:10usual, hyper focus the way that he is, and uh, I love
- 25:15one of the women saying, you guys are so obsessed that he said potatoes
- 25:19peeled. He just picked a fight with the Marines. Can we focus on
- 25:23the big, more important thing? So now comes the point where Buggy is
- 25:29just like, guys, no, I'm not as important as you think.
- 25:33And I love the way that everybody responds to this. Jimbay is just like,
- 25:41well, this is a surprise. Mister one is like, why is
- 25:45he so weak? Then Crocodile just goes hum, and mister three says that
- 25:52pedigree and he's so petty. Iva says every ship has one little blemish,
- 26:00I mean, And I love all of Iva's people just nodding because it seems
- 26:07like that's all of them being like, I mean, I don't really care
- 26:12what his deal is. That's supposed to be so impressive. I'm not impressed.
- 26:18And I really like the fact that they are all so unimpressed, like
- 26:25the everybody can smell a rat, right, everybody feels like this doesn't exactly
- 26:34vibe with what I have been seeing from this dude. But there's no point
- 26:42in trying to overthink it. We may as well just sit back and let
- 26:47it do what it do and see if anything shows up that makes it clear
- 26:52why he has the reputation that he does. We know, yeah, he
- 26:56was on that ship, but it doesn't seem like that means to it,
- 27:03like in reality means what they think it means in the Marines to have been
- 27:10on Goldie Roger's crew. Goldie Roger seems like he was just sort of like
- 27:15Loofy and that he welcomed whoever, and he inspired loyalty in people for sure,
- 27:22to a degree. But Buggy is a real outlier in that he never
- 27:26feels loyalty to anybody but himself. He is such a self serving type that
- 27:36I think they are imagining him having been more of a devotee and like having
- 27:45gotten more power up somehow from Roger than he actually did. So I don't
- 27:51know, I really like obviously, we know enough about Muggy a Buggy sorry
- 27:56Muggy to He does do the munkey, though we haven't seen those in a
- 28:00while. We do know enough about him and the way he functions that I
- 28:10don't personally expect anything surprising from him. I think what we have seen is
- 28:15what we were getting. But I wouldn't mind it if he started to like
- 28:25kind of fall backward into this role that he is pretending to already occupy and
- 28:30just began to really like go off and do things in either a daring way
- 28:36or accidentally make things look more impressive than they are, because that is the
- 28:42thing that I always find really fun, like the trope of somebody who gets
- 28:48credit for stuff that they didn't do on purpose, with the big exception of
- 28:56Inspector Gadget in which he got all of the credit for things that Penny actually
- 29:02made happen, because I was very irritated by that. So yeah, anyway,
- 29:07I just really am curious about how this is going to go. And
- 29:11like I said, I was surprised at how much he resisted the reputation that
- 29:19he was being offered at first, because it does seem like his ego is
- 29:23the exact type that would be really gratified to be seen in this light.
- 29:30And even if it's like, well, the Navy is giving me more credit
- 29:36than I deserve and they are putting their crosshairs on me, I can't even
- 29:44understand shying away from it in that context because you just escaped impelled down.
- 29:52It's the first mass escape from that place that has ever happened. I got
- 29:57news for you, bro, Their eyes are on you already. It's too
- 30:02late, Like you're not getting out of this. What do you mean?
- 30:07You know? So I just feel like that's pretty much a foregone conclusion and
- 30:14that it's silly to even try and like hide from their sight at this point
- 30:19because you're a wanted fugitive who has done something historically that has never happened before.
- 30:30So anyway, I let's move on to the end of this episode because
- 30:37I'm getting hung up on this, you know, these moments here, But
- 30:44suffice to say, Buddy eventually begins leaning into this and being like, well,
- 30:48you know what, maybe if they believe in me, I'll be able
- 30:55to pull off like ruling the world eventually, and we can handle Whitebeard even
- 31:03and just completely like take over. And he's standing up there with like the
- 31:10sun glowing behind him, and everybody starts kneeling and praising him as if he's
- 31:17a god, and it's so wild. They're crying and talking about how he
- 31:22has allowed them to dream again and that they don't even want to peaceful life.
- 31:27All they want is to believe in dreams and pursue them and take risks.
- 31:33And I was just like, I suppose, Okay, I'm not really
- 31:42entirely. I do not understand worshiping a person most of the time. But
- 31:52when I fail to really comprehend why people are acting a certain way, I
- 31:57sort of stop and think about Beyonce, and like, I know that she's
- 32:02just an actual person, and I don't actually worship her in a sense of
- 32:07like I worship a person, but she embodies in a concept the kind of
- 32:15creator who is so like curated and so in control of their image that the
- 32:23level of respect that I have for her is bonkers and off the chart,
- 32:30like in comparison to any person that I have met, because I don't know
- 32:35her. That's part of why this works is because she's a distant figure who
- 32:39can simply skirt around the sorts of flaws that you see and on earth once
- 32:46you get to know somebody better. So I'm just going to try and keep
- 32:50in mind that maybe these guys are reacting this way, and that I would
- 32:59react this way if it were Beyonce, or at the very least like try
- 33:04and put it in that context. You know, that's that'll work, all
- 33:09right. So that's pretty much the end of that episode, and now we
- 33:12start like checking in with everybody else. And I was a little bit surprised
- 33:22in some of these cases how little forward progress we really make. Oh,
- 33:30I forgot that we're still with Lufy at the beginning of the next episode,
- 33:32but only briefly. It's not really you know, we were only checking in
- 33:38with him for the first like two or three minutes before we cut over.
- 33:44But I think what happens with Nami and arguably with uh, oh my god,
- 33:59guys, I keep I wanted to say Elvis because that's what I am
- 34:02thinking of. Oh my god, what is his name? I'm dying.
- 34:08But I think they have the most forward movement Sanjy. Notwithstanding Chopper, though
- 34:15I don't know whats happening with Chopper, he has got no forward movement.
- 34:20It doesn't feel like I thought it was gonna be a thing, and the
- 34:22show clearly knew what I expected and just decided to make a joke out of
- 34:28it, which I really do respect and like. But uh, the result
- 34:34of that means that there's not really any progress made on that, but we'll
- 34:38get there in a second. So for right now, we are with Nami
- 34:45and she's on this like weird weather island and it turns out that he is
- 34:50actually connected to the ground, but she doesn't know that yet. It's not
- 34:57until a little bit later, and it's clear that she isn't really sure what
- 35:02she should like be focusing on or doing. She's trying to. She's still
- 35:10got a huge attitude with this guy who is only a sweet little bumbling wizard
- 35:21basically, And I really want Ami to stop taking out her anger on everybody
- 35:28else. She is so unable to control her emotions. I hate being like
- 35:36this bitch is too hysterical, but she kind of is a little bit sometimes.
- 35:42And he who comes over and he's got a cloud that is made to
- 35:49taste like cotton candy on a string that he's like bringing over as if it
- 35:53were a balloon, and it sort of gets stuck on her face and a
- 35:59pair of currently was suffocating her, although the fact that it's a cloud,
- 36:04I would think would mean there's plenty of oxygen in there for her to inhale.
- 36:07But she finally stops and is like, oh, it does taste like
- 36:12cat and candy, that's crazy. She beats this guy in the face before
- 36:16being like, oh, it's good and then taking it, and he just
- 36:20like gives this huge sigh of relief, and I'm just like this poor little
- 36:23abused wizard. Oh my god. So he says, you know, I
- 36:30can grant you a favor. You want to go to Sabayote, we can
- 36:36and she says, well, when do we get there? And he says,
- 36:42what do you mean, Like with area just travels on winds, so
- 36:47if a typhoon hits, we might get there pretty fast, but otherwise,
- 36:52and she says, well, then, how far did we travel yesterday?
- 36:58And he says about six hundred feet or so. She beats him again.
- 37:06Honestly, this time I can kind of see it. It's not the best
- 37:09way to handle it. But also and his whole vibe is, I mean,
- 37:17you could just stay here and get there like eventually, and then offers
- 37:24to bring her down. I could stock up on some funding and she says,
- 37:29go down where and he says to the ground, and she's like,
- 37:34wait, you can do that. And I find it hilarious that she never
- 37:38even asked if she could get down from here. She asked if he could
- 37:44bring her there, but not if she could get off the floating island,
- 37:47which would be my first question. So the fact that this never even came
- 37:52up, I assumed that she had asked already, because why would that not
- 37:59be immediately what you're asking about. But evidently no. So they are on
- 38:08like they go to and it's not like the round ground. Fully, they're
- 38:15still on this bubble, I want to say, but it's more ground than
- 38:22where they had been, and there are ships there that they can take that
- 38:28fly. They're really really cool looking. Honestly, I'm very into all of
- 38:34the bubble imagery that we've got going on in this arc. And the bubbles
- 38:45filled with fire in the manner of like a hot air balloon, so that
- 38:51is the way. It's almost like they're in a balloon, a weather balloon,
- 38:54I guess would make sense. It is pretty cool looking, and they
- 39:00are able to pass through the bubble that forms the sort of like protected barrier
- 39:06of this land, and I just think that this is really neat. I
- 39:10really like the look of this. And it turns out that what he does
- 39:16is he tries and helps various peoples with the difficulties they're having in weather so
- 39:23they wind up landing in this area where there is a terrible drought, and
- 39:30I do enjoy this aspect of it. This old man is like, hey,
- 39:35guys, I could help you and make it rain lol, for one
- 39:40hundred million barries and just wildly overestimates what it is these people can afford.
- 39:49And then when Nami points out that's a lot, dude, do you think
- 39:54they look like they've got that kind of money laying around? He's like,
- 39:58well, then what about a berries, which is like what you would pay
- 40:01for like a pack of gum? And I love the fact that he asks
- 40:08for way too much and it seemed like it was just pure greed. But
- 40:14it seems like what it is is that this man has absolutely no concept of
- 40:17how money works. So the fact that Nami is the one with him and
- 40:22he's over here talking about like getting funding for his research, it's no wonder
- 40:27you haven't got any funding, sir. You don't know how to like how
- 40:30money happens. So she's the perfect person. You know, she'll be able
- 40:35to do his accounting and handle the negotiations and be reasonable about how much he's
- 40:44charging. And he begins to generate all of these clouds and then hands her
- 40:52one of those ropes that she like unties the knots in order to bring the
- 40:58wind up, which I'd forgotten about this whole thing. I like that.
- 41:01I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but like they in nautical terms,
- 41:07the traveling speed is not right, it's going about twenty knots capn you
- 41:15know. So the fact that she uses notts, actual physical ones to create
- 41:20the wind is very very fun to me. I like it. And yeah,
- 41:23all of a sudden, the bubbles holding these ring clouds explode, the
- 41:28clouds expand really quickly and suddenly, and it just begins to pour rain,
- 41:34and she's just sort of like blown away at what he was able to accomplish
- 41:38and how meaningful this is to these people, Like this is a huge help,
- 41:45and he doesn't like I think that as much as Nami can just be
- 41:52somebody who's after treasure and that's all she cares about. She does care about
- 41:57people too, but that's not as fun, you know. So I like
- 42:01her getting involved in this. And she asks if she can like learn from
- 42:06him, and he says absolutely, anybody who wants to learn about the weather
- 42:12and who's passionate about it. I'm down. And this is when we cut
- 42:16to what is the name of this I can't remember it. It's the island
- 42:23where all of the like engineers and mechanics come from, though, And this
- 42:28is the story with Frankie. God, I can't believe I forgot his name.
- 42:31I'm so sorry, Frankie. So reminder, Frankie has been turned from
- 42:38a goofy gus into a refined englishman. It's very weird because he's still in
- 42:47his like little skivvies, but he's got that like evening jacket and bow tie
- 42:55with it. And because he's only functioning on tea and not with soda and
- 43:05they don't have any soda, it's like gonna take a while for it to
- 43:07arrive. He isn't going to return to his old self. And I love
- 43:12this little kid just being like dude used to be fun. I really hate
- 43:17this version of him. This sucks. So he goes and visits Frankie in
- 43:23the middle of the night and it's just staring at him in a real creepy
- 43:27way at one point, and he's looking at him and has opened his door,
- 43:32and then it cuts to Frankie in the woods and he's just on his
- 43:37bed in the woods. I was so baffled. I was like, is
- 43:42he trying to kill him? Like, what exactly is it that he's attempting
- 43:45to do. At this point, Frankie gets up and is like, oh
- 43:52nice, there's a scarf, and he grabs it. And it's a snake.
- 43:55And it's not just a snake like a regular snake. It's a snake
- 44:01that has been altered mechanically and given like a laser that fits inside its mouth,
- 44:10so it basically opens its mouth and like sprays him with a laser.
- 44:16I hesitate to say sprays, but it feels less like a targeted like small
- 44:22beam and more like an explosion. It's almost like it breathed fire on him.
- 44:28But it's too controlled really for that. So Frankie is standing out here,
- 44:36and then he like is walking back towards the facility and he comes across
- 44:39a sign that says keep out mechanical animals, and I'm like, what the
- 44:45fuck? And then this little kid whose name is Terreemo to to Remo,
- 44:52I don't remember, but he opens this like trapdoor and is watching all the
- 44:57proceedings, apparently on the impression that if Frankie fights, all of these like
- 45:05wild animals, he will just become his normal self again. Unclear why he
- 45:15thinks that's what's going to happen. I don't really get the you know,
- 45:22like he It's like, what makes me think of are those old sitcoms in
- 45:32like the late eighties early nineties where somebody got hit on the head and began
- 45:37acting differently, and then the only solution ever was to hit them on the
- 45:44head again and get them back to their old self. That's what I'm thinking
- 45:50here is like just sort of a shock. But it becomes really clear very
- 45:55quickly that this new version of Frankie does not know how to fight. He
- 46:00is getting the shit kicked out of him, and he's asking the animals if
- 46:06they are cranky because they forgot to eat breakfast, like trying this whole thing.
- 46:12When the little kid yells help, Frankie does interpose himself between the child
- 46:17and the gorilla, the altered sort of gorilla. But even though he does
- 46:25this, he still has like the bravery he always had. He doesn't seem
- 46:30to have the desire to fight. It's not even that he doesn't have the
- 46:35skills anymore. He's trying to like reason with this animal that's beating the shit
- 46:44out of him and be like, hey, you know, we don't have
- 46:46to do things this way, and I just was like, don't we know.
- 46:52I don't know, bruh, it seems like we may have to do
- 46:55things this way. I get why you uh will like to sidestep it.
- 47:00But he just keeps talking about how like violence isn't necessarily the answer, and
- 47:07I'm like, but sometimes it is, though, And as this like beat
- 47:16down continues, this is so strange, you guys, the tea that is
- 47:24inside Frankie's like stomach compartment gets bubbles in it. Now it seems like what
- 47:34he says later is basically I've finally like worked up ahead of steam or something
- 47:39like that. I've run out of steam literally, And I couldn't understand,
- 47:47Like, I guess it's supposed to be that his anger is causing it to
- 47:53turn to steam, because at first, what I thought was that it was
- 47:59becoming carbon needed somehow, and that the way that was happening was that all
- 48:06of the tumult of him getting like beaten and stuff was what was allowing that
- 48:15to happen. Like he was being banged back and forth, and it was
- 48:19causing all these bubbles that it became carbonation, which doesn't really physically make sense.
- 48:23But it also doesn't physically make sense that he had becomes so angry that
- 48:28the tea just starts to boil. It doesn't matter either way. In the
- 48:34midst of this fight, his eyes suddenly turned bright red, which is real
- 48:37creepy look, and I did not care for that. And he starts shooting
- 48:43steam out of his nose and mouth and ears, and his hair spontaneously jumps
- 48:50back up into a uh not exactly a mohawk. I guess you could call
- 48:55it a faux hawk. And his jacket shreds from the like arm from the
- 49:01shoulders down, so he's once again in a short sleeved outfit. He looks
- 49:07mostly back to his own self, but it turns out that he is not
- 49:13fully back to himself because he is out of steam. He is going to
- 49:16turn into the upright citizen tea drinker until he gets more steam. And this
- 49:27kid is like, really, he's like Vega punk. We will be able
- 49:31to like find a way to give you a soda machine. This guy is
- 49:37the genius that cooked up a whole ton of the stuff on this island,
- 49:44Like those animals that you just fought. I heard he was kind of an
- 49:47odd ball and he did leave the island to overrun with dangerous cyborgs, but
- 49:52that doesn't make him any less of a genius. And I just have to
- 49:57say, yes, it does, Yes, it does. So apparently this
- 50:07place is like boarded up, and this kid is like, I'm I was
- 50:12told not to come in here unless like he doesn't even say unless for an
- 50:15emergency. He says, just straight up, I wasn't allowed in here,
- 50:19but this is an emergency, so you're going to have to protect me.
- 50:24The moment that they step foot in here, all of these different alarms begin
- 50:29to go off and all of these lights turn on, things come worrying to
- 50:35life, and they turn and look at something that we don't actually see,
- 50:42and Frankie just says, well, this isn't good. So that's the end
- 50:46of that episode. Let's go to Sanjy you guys, Sonji and Choppers.
- 50:58I've only got like seven and it's left in this recording, and I pretty
- 51:04much can cover both of these in that time. I may it may even
- 51:07be too much time. It's really surprising how little happens all things considered.
- 51:17So Sanji is just re you know, remains enraged at the fact that he
- 51:23thought he was somewhere full of pretty women and it turns out that they are
- 51:30either trans women or simply men who enjoy cross dressing. It's not really made
- 51:38totally clear. I think they're supposed to be trans women, but I don't
- 51:46know, like exactly. So either way, he thought he was going to
- 51:52be getting something that he wound up not getting and is so sulky, I
- 52:00mean, so so petulant about it now. Granted, they keep trying to
- 52:12make him do the feminine things, and it's sort of funny because a part
- 52:17of me, it wants to disapprove right of the fact that this dude wants
- 52:23no part of this and they are not respecting that and backing off. A
- 52:29part of me is just sort of like, why can't we just I can't
- 52:37help but think about the people who are not SIS, who have been forced
- 52:45to pretend to be SIS. So I have less and less sympathy for Sanjy
- 52:51because he's just experiencing what a lot of people have been forced to live through
- 52:55their entire lives. It's like the vibe is off, but also the big
- 53:07part of me just can't care enough, do you know what I'm saying.
- 53:10So anyway, he gets brought to Caroline, who is like the interim queen
- 53:22of the I can't remember the name of this island, and she you,
- 53:30guys, I really really love her look. I feel like I mentioned this
- 53:37last time I saw her, but she looks so much like the woman who
- 53:42plays Audrey on Ellen. Talk about a blast from the past. The show
- 53:51Ellen is not a show that I ever really like reference in any sense because
- 53:57it's so irrelevant. But Audrey just had a look to her that this character
- 54:02has, and it is really funny to me how similar that I almost wonder
- 54:09if it's purposeful. I'm like, did Oda remember her and like base her
- 54:17off of that character specifically? I don't. I don't know. But anyway,
- 54:29the whole thing is Snjie arguing about how he doesn't want any part of
- 54:32this. He just wants to get off this island, and Caroline is like,
- 54:38I will let you off as long as you are able to be our
- 54:44strongest fighter, which, of course, unsurprisingly it turns out to be her,
- 54:52and of course Anjie agrees, and she's like, well, you have
- 54:54to put on our uniform. In order to fight, and he agrees,
- 55:01well, shocker, it's a dress and it's makeup. The eyeshadow looks quite
- 55:07fetching. The dress does nothing for him. This is not doing many favors.
- 55:14There is a way that this could have been made to work, and
- 55:15it doesn't. His nails are painted and he's wearing high heels. By the
- 55:21way, He's got a whole thing going on. So he comes out.
- 55:27Everybody's saying how cutie looks, and he's like, shut up, I do
- 55:30not. I've had more of this than I can take. And then finally
- 55:35outcomes Caroline. And Caroline has that ability of like sort of sneaking up on
- 55:43you with uh, I can't remember what it's called. If it's I keep
- 55:50wanting to say shave. It is shave, right. I don't know if
- 55:53that's exactly the move that she's doing, but it's the next best thing.
- 55:59He doesn't know she's there, and she's suddenly in front of him, and
- 56:02she is able to send him sprawling at just a touch under the chin at
- 56:07one point. The look that she's got, you, guys, I love
- 56:10this whole outfit. She's got like the headband, a sort of sixties like
- 56:15side sweat bang with a the headband matches a pair of cat's eye glasses,
- 56:23and this like roughly dress. She's got knee socks on. Like it's a
- 56:30fucking killer look. If I were going to do a cosplay, I'd probably
- 56:34pick this. It's just so cute. I would wear this. And he
- 56:40goes in with like a hard kick. Of course, when he removes his
- 56:45foot and waits for the dust to clear, she's not fucking there. Eventually,
- 56:52there comes this point where he is She's like, he gets real,
- 56:59what's the word self conscious about the fact that it looks like she is sneaking
- 57:02peaks up his dress. And it's so funny because he's like, why should
- 57:09I care about that? I'm a guy, and I'm like, why should
- 57:13a woman care about that? And it's just because we're supposed to be more
- 57:15modest than men are, Like, there's nothing more to be seen with women's
- 57:21underwear than men's underwear. If anything, there's less, but men are the
- 57:27ones that are supposed to not be embarrassed while we are. It's weird,
- 57:32but yeah, she says, well, you are using your masculinity to like
- 57:38hide your true feelings. You aren't living as who you really are, so
- 57:47you should be free and awaken your inner maiden. And even though Sangi is
- 57:58like trying to fight back, it's like something in him has cracked and he's
- 58:04just like no, no, no, actually hold on. And it's weird
- 58:07because the reaction is like paired with him being paralyzed with embarrassment, as if
- 58:14that's proof that he is now fully a maiden. Just really weird requirements for
- 58:21womanhood in this. It's strange, truly, but we have the whole metaphor
- 58:28of like a flower blooming and everything, you guys, it is really wild.
- 58:35And the next thing we see is him like gallivanting around on the beach
- 58:40wearing a dress and heels and just like embracing being super fem and it's like
- 58:51he's writing a letter to Nami and to Robin. I don't know how he's
- 58:55sending this. I don't know how any of this is working. Also,
- 58:59his hair has a parent grown or he's just been given really weird extensions.
- 59:04I love that he's got the lipstick and everything, but he stood at his
- 59:07cigarette choppers thing. I'm just gonna do this really quick, you guys.
- 59:14Chopper's caring for an infant bird that fell. You think that this is going
- 59:20to matter to the other birds that he rescued this infant, it doesn't.
- 59:24And he's still being hunted by the wild savages who are speaking in terrible like
- 59:30Native American stereotypical language to be eaten. And that's it. That's like all
- 59:38that happens. It's just really tiresome. Chopper's arc is the most boring by
- 59:45far. I haven't seen anybody else yet. That's all we got, so
- 59:50I may change my assessment, but as of right now, I don't know
- 59:53what we're doing here. But all he is having happened is like being thrown
- 59:58off cliffs and stuff. And I love Chopper and I don't like seeing him
- 1:00:01treated like this, So I'm very eager for this part to end. So
- 1:00:06all right, I'm gonna wrap up. Thank you guys again for listening.
- 1:00:08Hope you all are enjoying the coverage. Thank you Florian for commissioning, and
- 1:00:10until next time to lu motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
