- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, you know, even questions of did the wife leave you or like, what's going on, man?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Everything is okay.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Just took time away, which was good.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's good to go touch some grass from time to time and

- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate everybody asking.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it was incredible man spent time in France with the wife, which was so cool.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, just bounce around trains, planes trains, automobiles, you name it.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, going the wrong way.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Go to the rug cities.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, just do with the things that,
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't speak French, but it was a great time.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: But very, very happy to be back.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to say thank you to everybody on the hashtag CCs.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: I have missed you guys dearly.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Vacation was great.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I'm not to the point jet lag is still very, very, very real.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: But that is okay.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to make it happen.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to make it happen.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it is, it's happening.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Japanese life.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great Monday.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's Monday.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what day it is.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's Monday.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's the 20th.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is episode 1,670 of the 40 Irish Rush podcast.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to continue our countdown series today.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, getting two players number 33.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Down to number 29.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so we got five more guys.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be talking about.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I missed you guys too.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't feel right.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: I got to talk to somebody.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely not my wife.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what we do there, but yeah, I appreciate you guys.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Big toe.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: My men was out Paris looking fly with a blue shirt that matched the Nike ZM.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: And you got to match them.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: I regretted that day.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: The blue ones, they hurt the feet when you walk a lot.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we were walking a lot.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you do in Europe.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: And we were stated like some cheap spots.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: to walk a lot to get to where we wanted to go.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: Do that day I wore those blue ones.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I did.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad the picture looked good.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Because the feet did not feel good.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it was all said and done.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: But thank you, man.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Niners now.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think we should bring Debo back or not?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: I thought this question would arise.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably more out on bringing Debo back than almost everybody else.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like, man, screw Dbo, he forces his way out of here.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, screw that guy, but a little bit closer to that, but not quite that, you don't want to be here.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: You forced yourself out of contract to go to this team that you thought was going to be competitive didn't even make the playoffs.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: It had one of the worst years of his career.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now, is Dbo done?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he is, but I do not think that he's been official to the $40 at this point.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: But if you did bring Debo back, the biggest issue that I have, man, you're basically riding off Jordan walkins or Jacob County, or both.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: There is not room in the current structure.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: of this wider receiver room to add a one-year vet and that's all you could do with Debo and the only way that I would bring Debo back.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, look dude, we're bringing you back on incentive-based contract almost exclusively.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking two to three million base contract.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Everything else is incentive-based.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't want that, sorry, because nobody else wants me either.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like people are tripping over
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: A 30 year old white receiver that can't beat man coverage is a gadget guy at best at this stage.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: that you play a man team.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, Tibo, you just got to sit on the sidelines.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: There's not much you can do with them.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know what you want with that.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so I would much rather just roll with what you have.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let's say the 49ers have an injury or two in training camp at the wide receiver position.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Then sure, Tibo come on it kind of like what they did with Kintraborn in last year, that same type of idea.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, they didn't bring Kendrick born in until after the 53 man cut down and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: So it would be similar to that.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm very thankful for all that Debo has done for the 49ers, but at the same time, like you got to understand, this is a player that held out that hardest team really, really bad and then forced his self out.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's nowhere near Brandon and I you, even though Brandon and I you got his playbook from Tibo and he said that many at times, but yeah, I'd like to have Tibo back, but now with the current wide receivers, I don't see Why you would want to do that you already have the vets in Mike Evan Christian Kirk and democracy Robinson now is Dibo better than the Marcus Robinson
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: As a returner, yeah, as a white receiver, he's not.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would say it's not even close.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now with Kyle Shanahan, that makes it a little bit better.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: But to Marcus Robinson's game in the playoffs last year, against the Eagles is better than anything Dibo did last year.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: like, and he did it against a great defense, a great secondary because he can play against man coverage, Debo cannot.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: So if there's an injury, sure, but I'm just like, no, I'm not giving up on Jordan Walkins.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not giving up on Jacob County.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: You already had to mark his Robinson Christian Kirk and Mike Evans, the vets in the room.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: They're more complete wide receivers.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm out on the depot thing, and it's not because like I hate them, but it does factor in, dude, you forced your way out of here.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: While you still were like, depot baits so much money and still complained and forces way out.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: I know him in college buddies and all that stuff, and that's great.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like I hate depot or anything along those lines, but it does matter.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: you didn't want to be here, man.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: So a different with Drake Greenlaw, who's contract expired, gets off for a top of the market money, agrees to sign then the 49ers jump in and try to pull him back.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: That didn't work out.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: But like his contract, he lived up to his contract.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: He signed his extension way before the offseason.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like he took team-friendly contracts.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Debo has never done that.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he ever will.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why even if I did bring Debo back, dude, it's going to be incentive based one year deal.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: You come in.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to earn your role.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're probably going to be the kickoff or turn guy and we'll rotate you in on some gadget stuff, but you will not be starting wide receiver here.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: You're not starting over Evans.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're not starting over a peer saw and you're not starting maybe over a Christian
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: roll.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just I'm not big.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not big on that.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Um, really, really not.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm so pumped for training camp guys.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: It is right around the corner.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're about to start getting the first practices and you know for the rookies that are in training camp right now it's It's learn mode.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's figure out all these plays testing.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get ready for when those vet step in.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: You don't screw up our practice and all that stuff.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's time to lock in.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's up Milo Morris man.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's back.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: See a millborn mate.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: You can't wait.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: Traveling way too much this year, but that's okay.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot wait to go to Australia.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope you guys come with us.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: We still got packages up for you guys rushro trip dot com, whether you want to just join us for, you know, what the rally the day before, which we've got an awesome video in Melbourne.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be a lot of fun or you want to join us for an all inclusive tailgate.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: way too early with that early kickoff, but that's okay.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you're about it, be about it.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: Naluma Studios.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody got that reference.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, or if you need all inclusive, flights, hotels, all that included for the Aeroshore Tripp.com, those are up on there.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I, I mean, look at the Vainer, held note of Debo.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of out on that, man.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out on that.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: What's it Darren?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: Miss you guys.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, and I get it.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I saw the post by Dibo.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: I just talked about how his time there was like a fairytale and all that stuff.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, you go to state here.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't have to go.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so, no, I'm just, I'm completely out on that.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: But an injury or two, let's see.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I believe in the youth, I believe in the upside.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see one or two of the, you know, Jacob Cowen, Jordan Walkets to pan out, don't need them both.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be great if both turned out to be awesome, but get one of those guys will see.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And now if there's an injury to one of the vets,
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: Rookie's aren't, you know, Sean's dribbling it and looking like it's it, then perhaps, but that's about it.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see the youth.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you, man.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: Invader, I got a question.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Is it worth the risk of flying both the McKell kiddo through the air for 15 hours or would you leave them at home?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Kiddo 100% not going.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: Michele, probably like 80% not going.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: Both is a little bit different.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Both is done at several times, you know, from having these type of issues, overcoming these types of issues, his injury happened way before the other two.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, both are probably Michele, kiddo, no, I don't care how many times people post workouts of George Kittle.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: And man, I understand it's not like a full kill.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's tearing all that stuff.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: This dude's 32.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's been through it that thing happened in January.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: I am just completely out on kiddo playing early.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't understand the value in that.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: I get that he's amazing.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I hope that he is 100% weak one, but man, I just don't see that.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see it.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Such a funny, appreciate it.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, he shouldn't have left.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like he never left, but yeah, he can't do that.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do it, man.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: Adiba was attided to.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: I do, don't even run block as this.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's a way to receive her.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I wish.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, practices.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: They are right around the corner.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, you do walk through this and all that kind of stuff with the rookies, go through some stuff that kind of takes place now as far as like real practice once the vets report.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Usually get two days after that and you get out there pretty excited about that.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: What's up Thomas, man.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's nice to be back, man.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, our motto.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think kiddo is going though, brother.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: I won't be upset, I just don't see it.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: I will not be upset.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Jordan?
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys, appreciate you guys.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we need to Charlie Warner 2.0.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get started.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Our countdown, even though we had a little break in between, we're up to number 33.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: And the way in which we do this, we have, you know, there's four of us that work through this entire series.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we just go through and, you know, just try to rank these players most important for the 20, 20, 60s and only one through 91.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Ben Zach and Josh and myself.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: We ranked them all and then we tally up the numbers and that gives us our order.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: Number 33.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan James.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty high on Jordan James.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: One, he was one of the only wide receivers or sorry, offensive players, not wide receivers.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: That showed anything of promise in that playoff game against Seattle's defense.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're Christian Kaffrey, absolutely not Ricky Pierce saw, played 40 plus steps.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: No catches.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody look at Joanne Jennings
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Dude goes out there, six carries 28 yards, average 4.7 yards per carry that game.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was kind of the game was over by the time you started getting a lot of snaps and that was kind of his first game in there because you just ran CMC into the ground.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: But man, Jordan James looked good when others did not against an elite defense.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to put all of your stock
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: and those six carries, but you did see him, and it's like, man, do look good.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: So number 33 Jordan James, he was 38 last year on this list.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: So he jumped up five spots, where's Jersey number 29?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's a small guy, five nine, two, five small, him and Klon Black are very similar.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's not as small as Klon Black.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's also not as fast.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: Played his college ball, Oregon, and you know, he was,
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: to say relied upon would be an understatement.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: He was awesome at Oregon, born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee went to Oakland High School and three years at Brentwood Academy again, this is in Nashville.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: His sophomore year he had over 1,600 rushing yards, 24 touchdowns led his team to a six day state title was a four star recruit, 16th running back coming out of high school.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Goes to Oregon, he had offers all over the place,
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was the backup to Bucky Arvine only had one full year as a starter.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: So he's got a lot of quote unquote tread on the tires.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: This was not a college guy that was just beat into the ground.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: And he's only 22.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's three years younger than the rookie running back.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: He drafted this year, Katelyn Black.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Three years younger.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: And he's already got a full year of NFL under his belt.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: 22 versus 25 year old rookie.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now that competition's going to be awesome.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: That is worth buying tickets to training camp, which you almost can't get, because four of the owners just keep dwindling it down the training camp.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: They just don't want fans there.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Eventually, it's just, you know, Jed Yorick's going to walk out and put four fold-up chairs out there for training camp for four fans.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's like, there's just, I hate that.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if anybody has extra tickets to training camp, please let me know.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fighting tooth and nail, but I was out of town whenever all this was going on.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: uh... but if you know anybody i'd happy to pay for them i'll pay for the whole crew uh... but if anybody has some extra tickets trying to keep me up forty-one's restaurant trip dot com are sorry forty-nine's let me start back over forty-one's restaurant podcast at gmail dot com or on twitter you know where all over the place uh... instagram whatever uh... i will pay for them and whatever now jordan james gets drafted in the fifth round pick one forty seven overall last season
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: very, very good pick.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I really thought like he was a fourth round guy, you get value there.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, if I had to stack in the same draft class, Georgia, James and Katelyn Black, it's not even close.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'd have a fourth round around Jordan James.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'd have a un-draftable grade on Katelyn Black.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: having said all of that, Katelyn Black is growing on me.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to continue to call him Neo, Neo.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to be the one that changes everything, the chosen one.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: You only have so many third round running back picks that miss eventually one has to hit.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: Why can't it be Katelyn Black?
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: why not.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I do have Jordan James winning this battle.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I, I think he's just too far ahead.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: He offers too much.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's too well rounded.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's much better in the past again with the experience.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's been with the 49ers for a full season.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it took him a while because he did get injured in training camp.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then this is what happens to 49ers running backs because
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so because he does a practice, the other running backs get so much work and just run into the ground.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: He got injured, Isaac Rendo's injured is always, and so it took him a while to overcome the entry all the way to the indie game.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: That was the point where he got bumped up past Isaac Rendo.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's in the river you mirror and now Gendo's tourist pack and is injured again.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: So That conversation's done for this season for sure.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: I do believe Jordan James is the running back to for the 49ers, and I do believe that the running back room is way too short.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: It does not have the depth that is needed.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: I do not feel comfortable with Christian McCaffrey coming off, leading the NFL and touches.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Every single time he's done that, he has had a super down here.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that that changes, but man, if Christian McCaffrey goes down, what happens to
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: You feel, how confident do you feel in a K-lon black door to James situation, not at all.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be scrounging the trading for a vet, you know, just like you were last here.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't like that.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: I really thought the $40 should have added another running back, but we'll see how it goes.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's see how it goes.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now you look at the film again, Georgia James small compact built.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's a bowling ball low center of gravity style runner very decisive.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't waste time, doesn't waste movements.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Literally a stick and go type guy, one cut runner.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they do at Oregon.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's the shenanow way.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: very strong lower body.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's the trait that stands out most when you watch Jordan James.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people falling off the tree trunk legs running through contact falling forward.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody gets a clean hit on him consistently.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's not fast ran a four five five.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one area where Kale and Black has them, the full 10th and the 40 are dash faster.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: But he's to do it all back.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: That lacks top in speed.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: but he passes the eye test, he really does.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think that he could be Jordan Mason good?
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: I do not, and like I was a huge Jordan Mason guy.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Mason's better than everybody on this roster at the running back position besides Christian McCaffrey, of course, but you didn't want to pay them and Bobby Turner didn't like him.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: So you had to get rid of them for some reason.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: I still don't like that trade, but this where you are, you at some point this season, the 49ers are going to rely on running back other than Christian McCaffrey.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: The idea of him being completely healthy two seasons a row is
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it happens, but you cannot expect for it.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: And hope for the best pair for the worse.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel like the four units prepared for the worse.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really, really don't.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the contract he made $1.2 million last year, which is awesome.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: And again, you look at the debt chart, this is Chris from Becafrey, whoever you have at number two, I have Jordan James K. Limpleck.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: Isaac Garendo is even on the debt chart
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: I like Patrick Taylor Jr. considerably, but like I like him as a number five, which with Isaac Rindo hurt, he's a number four, and with Christian McAfrey not going to be at much of the practice now.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's a number three, he said I'm saying like, you're missing one guy, tightened, safety, running back.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely those three are the positions where you just look at them, and they're just like, man, we could really use a veteran player with some established experience at all three of these spots.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Niners have a done it.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: And with only, you know, you're at 91 players now, you're going to get to 53.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to have depth all across the board.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the Niners have so much more depth this year than they did last year.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: But there are still three positions where I just kind of scratch my head and I'm just like, oh, uh, kind of missing kind of missing something.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: at this position.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: And Vader, James looked pretty good in the limited snaps I saw.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Ed, you know, Joel James or Black RB2, I'm going team James.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not rooting against Black.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: I just think James has the upper hand.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he offers more all the way around.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: But fourth round pick, use on James, third round pick, use on Caitlin Black.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: So from that standpoint, perhaps the Niners value, Caitlin Black more.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: But then he got the shenhand doghouse thing.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: With rookies, they never get a play, but drafted 25-year-old rookie Caleb Black.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: One of the best things I would say the Texans was the best defense you played last year, but Seattle's definitely not far off, but like I'm looking right now at Christian McCaffrey's game log, one game, two games, three games, four games last season, Christian McCaffrey had more than 4.7 yards per carry, like not good.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: It was against Chicago.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: against Indianapolis against Arizona, and then against Atlanta.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: That was at four times.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: And the two games against Seattle, 3.1 yards per carry, and 2.9 yards per carry.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: So a full yard and a half more.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying Jordan James is a better and Christian McCabri.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that's not what anybody's taken for this.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: do, Chris McCaffrey struggled run in the ball last year.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive light struggled to provide run blocking lanes for the white running backs last year.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: It has un-debatable.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: do kind of look good.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: Just say him do kind of look good right here.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: David, I can't wait for the Cowboys game.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: We recently moved to Texas, so we're on the DFW area.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: So it's perfect.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be there.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to come join us, that's going to be our biggest party of the year.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: We've already read out Texas Live will be there.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: The day before we have an all inclusive premium tailgate right next to the Walmart next to Cowboys Stadium or AT&T Stadium or whatever you want to call it.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: But man, if you're
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, our slate of games that we are 100% doing, Australia, Mexico City, Atlanta, Dallas, and then Seattle.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the five games we are doing or trying to add some more, but if you got any of those games, you got to come party with us.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers rush road trip is going into it's sixth year with over 40 events at road games, if you are traveling to see the 49ers play this year, you got to come party with us.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that, we
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: We give games, trivia, giveaways.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: We partnered with tick pick this year.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is search 49ers rush on any of the tick pick sites, apps, you name it, and on top of all of that.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Best dressed, giveaways, autographed jerseys, kids are always included and get in for free with a ticketed adult.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times for select cities, we will have 49ers legends come out and you get to meet and greet them and get autographed via a Bowman.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Fred Warner, are all players that we have worked with in the past and trust me.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build the 49ers community, you're traveling by yourself.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: We got you covered, 49ers rushroadtrip.com.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man, the chat is coming soon.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Stephon?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this, man.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: Niner Empire, best of the best.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: We got Seattle, Faithful, Chapter What's Up, Alex.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Come to Seattle, you cowards.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: Do Seattle's a good time.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle's a good time.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: We got a great venue.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: The stadium is top notch.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: I do not like Seattle fans.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: Even though one of my best friends, Seattle fans.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like Seattle fans, but that stadium off the charts, city,
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's freaking awesome.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good time.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: Come party with us and you know again.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's so many great chapters.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle faithful They do not play so come join and see how trust me you like I have people that came for the playoff game where the Niners got routed That still reach out to me and tell me how great of a weekend that was even though the Niners got destroyed like we You're gonna have a great time.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: So come come come say what's up?
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Number 32 on our roster count down, Vedarian low.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I just went through that whole diet tribe on, man, there's a couple of positions where you just don't have to.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: Offensive tackle is not one of those.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Vedarian low is a starting caliber tackle in the NFL in the current climate.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I have to buttress that statement with the idea of this.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Offensive tackle is probably the most talent-devoied position in the NFL.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that the 49ers have two very, very good tackles, Trent Williams Hall of Famer, Colton McKibitz, Top 10 Wright Tackle in the NFL, and then Viderian low coming in as your swing guy, I think that that is huge.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: He wears jersey number 76.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's only 27 years old.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: The thing that makes Viderian low special, length, arm linked in particular, it's 35 and five eights inch arms.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like monster, go, go, go, gadget arms.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's 65, three, 17, 84 inch wings span.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: This dude, it's just too hard to get around him.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: And you watch the tape, he just neutralizes speed rushers because he's just extended.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: His wingspan, it shows on tape consistently.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: 27 years old, he played at Illinois, born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, went to Auburn High School, three-time all-conference player in high school, Videria Low was, and he chose to stay in Illinois because, quote, he loved his teammates and coaches, loyalty, got to love that, gets drafted by the Vikings in 2022.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: Six round, he actually went
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: much better playing career than execute.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's drafted by the Vikings.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: Then traded a year later, very rare kind of sophomore year trades, second year player traded, that happened a lot in the NFL.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: He did.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: He gets traded to the Patriots and starts, starts for him.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: And if you go back to that six round in 2022, his pick one, 84th overall, he's the third best player that was drafted that year in that round as far as like playtime does and all that stuff.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: Jamie Sawyer and Christianford are the only two players in that round, but turned out to be a great player.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: So drafted by the Vikings traded to the Patriots, started a lot of games.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then he looked at him off the field.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: He had dropped it.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: He adopted his brother Vitalis, which a big deal for me, right, adopt a parent.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: and his mother passed away took over custody of his younger brother.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: He has two sons Kingston and trade cool names.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: Just seems like a great dude that just gets out there, gets his job done on and off the field, does what he does.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: Going into his fifth season, played a lot of football,
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: played a lot of ball played a lot and last year probably one of the cool things.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: He caught a touchdown pass from Drake May.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: They split them out as an eligible wide receiver.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: He got a four yard touchdown passes.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: A wide receiver.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: Six, five, three, twenty out there.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: Two with stuff.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: Only twenty seven.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: So he's got upside and again, similar to Mac Jones, you get this value base deal, but you got it for two years.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners signed Vidarian low to a two year $9.2 million contract only $5.7 million guarantee he's making the roster no matter what He's made 6.1 million in his career Niners got it for two years so if my favorite thing about Vidarian low is God forbid Trent Williams has come out and said he's playing next year that's gonna be his last year whatever else
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: But if he does not, the dairy and low could step in.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want the dairy and low to be your starting left tackle, but you don't mind him competing.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: Him and Enrique Cruz Jr., you have your short term and your long term plan at the tackle position.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he brings.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so, is the dairy and low a top 10 tackle, top 20 tackle, top 30 tackle, not really, but for a backup, oh my gosh.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: For this price, yeah, this is this is awesome.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is value based shopping for a low price.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so you can play left tackle, you play right tackle, but you've got Trent, you've got Colton McKivitz, and then behind them, the Dairy and Loan Enrique Cruz.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Both young with high upside characteristics.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Enrique Cruz in the athleticism, you've got the Dairy and Loan in the size and length.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good spot to be in.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really loved, and Viderian low is kind of the microcosm between the difference between 2025 49ers and the 2026 49ers.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: This year's 49ers has veteran depth at established positions much more so than last year.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: Is he somebody that, you know, if Trent goes down, you're just going to be like, oh, it's okay.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: You got a very low, not really, but you're getting capable play.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: You're getting consistent capable play from a starter replacement level player.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's Vaderian low at such an important position.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where he is.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to put that one up there.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Bad, what's up, man?
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's one of the ones that helps with this entire series.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: Love you, Ben.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: He says he loves the low sign.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: In first time, we've had a true swing tackle.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: I am curious.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: And for those of you that go out to training camp and all that stuff does Federian low, just play left tackle, does 76 just down the left side or is he going to get right tackle snaps as well.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: Cruz likely to the practice squad man, fifth round pick.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you can stash him with that athleticism.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: I would love to be able to keep Cruz how many teams keep four tackles on their initial 53 right, but man, fifth round picks make the roster.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: 7th round picks 50 50 6 round picks about 80 to 90% make the rather 5th round picks.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost 100% Man, you cut him.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what a terrible mismanagement of draft capital Maria the left guard position was our weakest link needs to improve But it wasn't the only reason the run game was dead will need better receiver blockitude yet it takes all 11 in this system.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this Johnny deal
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Low is the way better back up than in recap.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't I don't think that there's a competition between Vaderian low and Enrique Cruz.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: My question is will Chris Forster just say Vaderian you're the left tackle Enrique you're the right tackle.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was Jaylon Moore like his second year Colton McKinverser somebody I heard
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: And you throw them in there and they're like, well, has he practiced that right there?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, no, he has a practice area.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, what, like, your sweet tackle just stays on the other side?
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: Niners don't do the sweet tackle whatever thing, very often.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's very near-sighted.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that it's gotten in trouble the past so that might change.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: But they like to have your Alpha group, your Bravo group, things like that.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: They want Vittarian load of play left tackle.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then again, very similar to Jordan James and Christian Kaffrey.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: and he didn't practice any Wednesdays.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: And he gets some Thursdays and Fridays off.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: So is, is Vaderian low with the ones because you don't want to wreck first team reps.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to have consistent one.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: So then is Enrique Cruz, the swing, like there's questions that need to be answered on just the formality of how the rotation of offensive tackles takes place for the 49ers throughout training camp and preseason.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: I do not think that there is any question as Johnny Dele eloquently put as he always does.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's where your podcasts are going to learn football.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Johnny Dele football Academy, everybody go subscribe.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: The Dairy & Low is clearly the number three, but is the clearly the backup lift tackle.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's a Chris Forster question.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that, that's where that's at.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, oh, look at this, Logan.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: This is what I love to see.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: Got a job promotion.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: My man.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: One of us wins.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: We all win.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: I truly believe that.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also orientation in a job.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: I always wanted to be at part of that edge at the back.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: Man, let's freaking go.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: Man, Logan, where'd it go, dude?
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you sharing that with us.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: We need those positives.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: We need those, baby.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: I love this community.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Where'd it go, Logan?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hell yeah.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, which I was around you to celebrate.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, that's awesome.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: Invader, I'm rooting for Carver Willis to win the left guard job and re-invigorate that run game to Carver Willis can run block like a mammant GM.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: That is the easiest thing to see in his tape.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: And we have all these tape breakdowns on new.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: players added, rookies, whatever else.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's up on the 40 hours rush.com or a patron.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best way to support what we do.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's how I pay the bills.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: So please if you want to check it out.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, seven day free trial.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Go check it out.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: Go watch some tape.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: See how you feel.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: We got zoom hanging out once a month.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have one of those next week, not this week.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: I got to set the date and talk to the wife.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's going to his past pro so rough.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think Connor Colby's going to win it.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think the 40 hours with love, Carver Willister with that job.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: Cause that would be immediate run game.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the past game that's a little rough kidding anchor.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the questions.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get to one of my favorite players on this team.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: Number 31, I have been,
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: standing on the podium or pounding the table, whatever you want to use there.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: Sam.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just I'm the president of this guy's fan club.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: I can end up to to show.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: We had Sam.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, ranked 32nd last year.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: This year is 31.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: We had him appropriately ranked last year.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was 82, jumped to 32, now he's at 31, only once bought up, but man, Samo is just exactly what you want on your roster.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: Is he a starter?
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: No, well, he started a bunch of games last year.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: He started 12 games last year.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Geez, that's insane.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: The injuries at the defensive end positions, Samo is not supposed to be a starter.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's supposed to be your number four, number five defensive end.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's the type of guy that gives you consistent play.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: That is not a playmaker.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a top-end defensive end, but he is somebody that does everything right.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: He is a true fore-down defensive end.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that because he plays all the special teams as well, but you can play him in the run, you play him in the goal line, you play him in pass rush, you play him in special teams, plant return, whatever, you play him all the time.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a pro-bolar, never gonna be a pro-bolar.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: But he is somebody that you can rely on that will do his job just doesn't make a lot of place.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: But he doesn't hurt his teammates, right?
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like Jordan Elliott, Khalil Davis.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: These are guys, Bryce Huff, a bad play from those guys.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: your nickel corner and safety out to dry.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sam O does his damn job.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: And he is a wonderful litmus test for like quality football play.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: How many teams have five stud defensive ends?
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe one or two.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: Sam O is just a quality guy that you could put in there and give your studs a break and not have to worry about gosh, can't believe the defensive ended that and hung us out to
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't do that.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: And where's Jersey number 91, 61270 is 28 years old?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: Went to Masabi Range Community College.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, that's a well known school.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: The entrance for it to Maryland, what an amazing story.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: This guy born and raised in Manrovia, Liberia.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Lifted in Liberia until he was 12.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: rough childhood civil war breaks out gets separated from his family and mother comes to United States by himself.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: Not even know where his mom's at.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: comes to the United States, gets involved in sports, finds some purpose, and just does very, very well, reunited with this mom, which is that's awesome, goes to low high school Massachusetts.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's freaking awesome.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: Three star recruits goes to community college, transfers to Maryland.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dane Brugler was really high on this guy because he's just such a freak athlete.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: He was number 41 on Dane Brugler's 2022 class, just because the athleticism goes
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: should have been a third or fourth rounder.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: But people didn't know that much about him.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's played in 37 games in the NFL 15 starts.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: 12 tackle for lost six and a half sacks.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man, just quality debt piece that everybody seems to really like.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Plays his damn heart out every.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: Sam O is like, I just love this dude.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: When he's out there, I just love him.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: He just gives every single thing
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: all out effort.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, 27 solo stops last year, second most for the entire 49ers defense.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: 31 pressures, second best on the team.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: 24 hurry, second best.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is not a guy that should be starting games and should be second in any statistical category, but because the injury Samo stepped up.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was a big reason why the 49ers not only made into the
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want those guys to start, but he stepped up.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's on a one year $2.3 million deal.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's made $2.4 million and it's clear.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's never going to be a highly paid whatever.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's 28 years old, but Samo, dude.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys ever see somebody saying something negative about this dude,
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what I was supposed to say after that, but like, no, no, just stop it.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't happen.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Does not need to happen.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: Auditorious Gav by man says, it'll love me some Samo, I freaking dude.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the countdown's about, man.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody knows about Nick Bosa.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody knows that.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: Samo.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, you meet somebody and you want to know how good of a $40 fan they are, say tell me about Samo.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: And if they can answer anything, that's die hard, baby.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's die hard.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, who?
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: Then you're like, that's okay.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to this podcast.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to learn.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to learn together.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: We'll we'll get to where we got to go.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: If we can love Samo, dude, the Tories, he says, yeah, Samo is arguably our best player on the defensive line last year with all the injuries.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: And, and that is a tell of mine, right?
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: A coaching background, consistency's everything.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: If you're only good for one out of five plays, I can't do anything with you.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: That that you're hanging four plays, you're hanging your other teammates out to dry.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: Football is a team sport.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: This ain't basketball, this ain't soccer, it's ain't pitching and baseball, no, no, no.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is 11 on 11.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: Don't screw over your teammates.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sam Odondue that.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: So consistent.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: Thomas, I was watching another creator who said same.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh might get cut.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Watch him up.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: You look at the depth chart.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of sometimes and I don't just only keep five players.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so let's go through the depth chart.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Bosa, Michele Williams, Keon White, Samo, Ramelo, probably got to put Ramelo height up there.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: Samo's a true foredown defensive end.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Ramelo height is your past russia.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there is a world in which Samo might not make it if Michele Kamara, you know, he's got a much higher ceiling.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: But no, I don't think he's got $1.8 million guaranteed out of $2.3 million and he put up too much good tape.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_01]: He would get claimed.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really do think so.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Camp sample William Bradley King Andrew Farmer that rounds out the depth chart, but 49ers keep it five defensive ends with the injury to Mikhail Williams.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can keep five and put Mikhail on the pup, which is a very real possibility Well, that means Mikhail Kamara and Samo can make it.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: I struggle seeing a reality with the amount of quality tape That number 91 has put on put up.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you move on from that
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just I I really really don't it's these cheap style contracts That you just get to say hey, man, dude.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's both so doesn't come back.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: I Don't want Samo starting, but he sure his hell helps you sleep better at nights the carry-hider special All right.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is just carry-hider freaking reincarnate.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't carry-hider still alive, but like from a Chris Kusarek standpoint He has specialized and kind of made him name for himself by the carry-hiders and Samo's of the world
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I'm not sure, man, let's see here.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: Invader, appreciate keeping us up to date.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: See how it's just placed, Nicky Man worry, Kenny Macintosh, and Tyron Broden on the pub list.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: That means that they can come off the pub list at any time.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to get, this is the start.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: The seahawks are day ahead because they play that first game.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is the start of all those, you know, vets reporting and all that stuff that this is the time of year we are in.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Samo is better than price off last year, not even close, not even close, not comparable.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: Johnny Del, I love Samo.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mr. consistent, I freaking love this 2.3 million for Samo as a steal.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing you cut them.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: like why, he ain't costing you nothing and he's reliable and it's good on special teams too.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's just an extra thing, like to just place Johnny Samo is like a good chicken dinner.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: Not the greatest thing on the menu, but rarely disappoints and you can be counted.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Dude Samo is the rotisserie chicken at Costco.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: Come on man.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: How much is that?
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: The whole chicken?
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: There we go baby.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: I love these to say you guys are great man.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you are killing me.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're killing me, man.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love it.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: Samo, I'm just telling you, there are players that are
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: And sorry, I know I'm coming across pompous and maybe it's because I am sometimes that's okay, maybe I hope it is I am pompous with certain things movie trivia 49ers football long horns and probably yeah good logger and I can break down some good loggers, but man San mode just belongs he just belongs these are the players that represent what it means to be a 49er.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: and the meritocracy that Samo creates.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: He was an undrafted free agent, trans plan.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's not even from this damn country.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Community college, like, you just can't stop them.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: You just can't, will not be denied.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: Those types of players build up the identity of scrappy, just will not quit teams.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I'm just saying man.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: Whew.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, let's get to number 30 on this list.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: Again, scrappy.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: How about a pro bowl special teamer?
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: Defensively out.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: Number 57 definitely gets isolated sometimes.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, there's, there's a lot of plays.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: She can put up there and just be like yikes.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Special teams wise.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: How many times?
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: And again, we've been doing this show.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: Again, what I forget the number of this show, I do it a while.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 1,670 of the four-air Josh podcast.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: Two special teams has been an albatross around the 49ers next for nine out of 10 years.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: Since Shanahan showed up.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: The one time it wasn't was this year.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford major reason why.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously the kicker and we'll get to him, baby.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I freaking love him here.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: But Luke Gifford is number two.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Dude was just a stud.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: Last year was number 37 on our list.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: This year's number 30, he climbed.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: Now, and I said last year, Luke Gifford's going to be the starting sandbacker for the 40 hours week one, which I was correct.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: He looked really bad.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was not good and say like he was always where he needed to be just could never make a play Just could make a play what you can put up with that at a rookie
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: You can't put up with that 29-year-old player.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now Luke Kifford's 30 now, where's number 57, 6, 3, 2, 43, went to Nebraska, born and raised in Lincoln, dude.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: This dude, this kid was wore a black shirt like in the toddler, like, you know what I mean?
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he just ingrained in the Osborn culture.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Went to Lincoln Southwest High School, played tight-end safety for the majority of his high school year, a senior year.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: They moved him to quarterback.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: And you watch a lot of the linebacker tape, which I think is behind them.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's just going to be a special team or only for the rest of his career.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: But like he's good with the instincts.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: He always knows where to be.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't have the athleticism and playmaking ability from the defense standpoint to earn that role.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: But you don't mind him as a backup linebacker.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: because the communications off the charts, he knows what to do.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: He just can't do it.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let us team to a state championship back in 2011.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's been playing football a long time.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: Undrafted in 2019, man, a lot of undrafted guys on this year's countdown.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: But it just sticks around, special teams, special teams, coaches, love them, going into his eighth season.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's played at 90 games, only 14 starts.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: Not a lot of great statistics mount up in his career, but made the proble as a special team last year and I started week three Like put film clips up in this guy say and dude, he's on his way to the proble season like I was like do come on guys like special teams Where I don't know how many people break down special team state, but I don't think there's a lot do special teams Oh I'm a little pompous when it comes to special teams.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: I met on that to the list But yes to 57 just out there all the damn time
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: Just make a place, just make a place, he had 13 special teams tackles last year.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: There was one game, oh, I don't remember what game it was.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: We had four tackles on kickoff alone in one game.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: In one game, couple of more combo tackles, but it was just like, ooh, this guy changes the special teams unit, period.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford, stud.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's on a two year $5 billion deal.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: This is the last year of his contract.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: $8 million career earnings, that's awesome.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now, where does he fit in the linebacker depth chart?
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want him as a starter.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to be around there somewhere.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: But Nick Martin, Tatum, Bethoon, Jaden Tugger, like those three guys, you want them one of those guys to win the number three linebacker role.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know Fred Warner and Drake Greenlaw got one and two locked up.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford can play all three, you don't want him to play all three.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_01]: He could, but you don't want him to.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's making this roster, guaranteed.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I want to go back and just go through some more freaking Samo comments.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_00]: I love those dudes, man.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, what's up, Maria?
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford's special team, yes, defense, no.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the jotty less jaded dugger manages to put on 10 pounds and proof hustle and get way tougher through contact get for just going to be the same on the line.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's done it.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's done it last year was rough and it's funny because when the Niners brought on where he Morris a lot of people were like oh we're gonna be doing five Man fronts and under you know four three under and over and I was like not solid did that last year with 57 like he played up on the line the difference between where he Morris and you know the way Robert Solid uses those formations where he Morris does it from a past rushing philosophy
- 51:54[SPEAKER_01]: core concern with his defense.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: Robert solid isn't from a run stuffing gap control style philosophy.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: So it's funny.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: Looks similar.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: Completely different philosophical constructs of what the players are doing there.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: Robert solid.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: Stop the run.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: Morris.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_01]: Go get the passer.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jayden Dugger.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: He fits that role much better for Reemors, but I, Jayden Dugger is so raw in that two needs years.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_01]: I believe, unless you just oversimplify everything for him.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it's hard to put somebody out there that not going to be able to diagnose.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: He couldn't diagnose, plays the save his life on the, and watching that tape down at Louisiana.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see what he can't be.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what he can be.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's hype going to be the same linebacker.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: definitely could do some of that.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, right here.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Login.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate everything.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get for dozens of special teams.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, special teams, baby.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, this linebacker group looking really awesome.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just getting green wall back is huge.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know it's your number two.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know who your number two is.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: Johnny Hollins, the beast, KJ writes a beast.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: Man, that linebacker room,
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's special, man.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin doing anything would be huge.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_01]: It would be huge.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, come on.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: All right, the last player on today's countdown.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: Number 29, more veteran depth, baby.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: Not even depth.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is going to be a starter.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: We want to film it to be honest with you.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk, 29, new free agency signing.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 3, 510, 201?
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then you go over to mock draftable.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Christian Kirk's been in the league a long time.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's 29 years old, got drafted in 2018.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know what's funny?
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk got drafted three picks after Dante Pettis, the cat, himself.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you put in Christian Kirk's measurables and mock draftable and you know the slot wide receivers that are going to come up.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: Curtis Samuel, golden tape, Randall Cobb, Christian and Kirk.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: that can run good routes.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Christian Kirk is.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Christian Kirk does.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: And went to Texas A and M, I will hold that again.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: Something a lot of A and M guys, joining the Niners this year, don't like that, but Christian Kirk's good dude.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: Son of Evan and Melissa Kirk, he attended Sagaro High School, out in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he played wide receiver running back again, that 510, 200 pound kind of built like Jordan James.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_01]: Gain over 3,000 all purpose yards as a senior in 2,000 all purpose riders as a junior.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: This dude was all Arizona everything.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: Five star recruit could have went wherever he wanted to.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: Why he chose Texas A and M I don't know, but he led the NCAA in punt return yardage.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: 21.7 way back in 2017.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: Now pump the brace.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: I know you started punt return.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: Kirk hasn't returned to punt since 2022.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_01]: Anyone even that good that year.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you can put them back there because a cautionary it's talked about this.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: This was a Trent Taylor, you know, punt return approach.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: I just was somebody back there that I can guarantee catches the ball and won't muff it, won't fumble it.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do what he's supposed to do.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: Kurt can do that.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you're trying to get playmaking ability, Kurt can't get that.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's just not what he is from a punt return standpoint.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: This is a savvy vet that will be where he is supposed to be 100% of the time.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_01]: That is a first down.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_01]: drives the staining slot back that you can trust.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_01]: Shanahan has to trust those wide receivers.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_01]: Brock has to trust his options.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: Just think about Jordan Mason, who I love, Brock pretty hated, refused to throw the damn ball.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_01]: Just wouldn't do it for whatever reason.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now the Cardinals drafted
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: Um, sorry, Christian Kirk in the second round, 47th overall way back in the day 2018 and Kirk has the most, the fourth most receptions out of that entire draft.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: He is only behind DJ Moore, Mark Andrews and Portland Sutton for receptions from that draft.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he's had a good year going into his ninth season played eight seasons four with the Cardinals three with the Jacksonville.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_01]: Jaguar is where he got that.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_01]: crazy crazy contract.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_01]: One year last year with Houston was banged up, but had an elite playoff game against the Steelers for the Texas.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_01]: He had eight catches, 144 yards and a touchdown.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: We broke down that tape over on the 40-ironage rush.com.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's up as soon as you sign up, you had access to that or a Patreon page.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: Just type in Christian Kirk in the little search field that
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: he's not had a dominating career and his best games are playoffs or big time like division games like when the lights shine bright Christian Kirk shows up more so than other times.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: One 1000 yard season and 2022 for Jacksonville and 84 receptions 118 yards.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's only time he's even really got close to the 1000 yard mark.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's a number three wide receiver.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's a slot guy only at this stage in his career.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a bad thing.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're paying them one year, $3 million.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: And Kyle Shinnahan mentioned Christian Kirk.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_01]: in his post-friagency press conference saying, yo, everybody talks about Mike Evans, Kirk took less money to come here, too.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_01]: He had more money elsewhere.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners continue to attract players that want to win because of Kyle Shanan, because of Brock Party, because of the culture.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_01]: You want to be a part of this team.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's space for wide receivers.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_01]: I would argue definitely
- 57:50[SPEAKER_01]: Overhaul that room, you're on a five-wide receivers.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk was one of those.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now the injuries.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: Take a deep breath.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're getting a value in Christian Kirk.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: 2018 Miss four games due to a broken foot 2019 Miss four games due to a broken ankle.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: 2023 now he had three healthy years in row.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_01]: 2023 groin slash corn muscle injury.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: Final four games in season miss.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: 2024 broken collarbone missed the second half of the season last year.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: 2025.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking three straight seasons missing multiple games with there's no repetitive entries in there, but it's like gosh, foot, ankle, groin, collarbone, hamstring, just like what are we doing playing operation?
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now, one year, three million dollar deal,
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't kill you.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: You got Jacob Cowling there.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Jordan walkance there and Got to Sean Striplin who could fill in and play that big slot role.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_01]: There is depth across there.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_01]: I fully expect Christian Kirk to start in the very first 11 personnel that's out there.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: Three wide receiver set for the 49ers.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: I expect C number three.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk being out there.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really do.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think
- 59:13[SPEAKER_01]: for Kyle Shannon and he wants guys that he knows where they're going to be and just make things simple for Brock Party.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_01]: Is he a game changer at this point in his career?
- 59:22[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_01]: but you know where he's going to be and he catches the ball consistently well.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: So he's he's a prose pro.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's a vet that's made a lot of money or I didn't go with he's made 80.4 million dollars.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk is good he's not 80 million dollars good.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was the first major signing that set off the wide receiver market where it was like holy.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: What the?
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Christian Kirk, you can go back and look when he got that crazy S deal by Jacksonville, that was the moment why receiver surpassed offensive tackle as that premium position.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: Quarterback, pass, rush or wide receiver.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_01]: That is the pecking order of pay for positions in the NFL.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk was a big part of that.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's made 80 million and I love it.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_01]: One of us wins
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's not playing for money anymore.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_01]: He signed with the 49ers a one year three million dollar deal in sin of base.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it could be a lot more.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the type of deal that I would offer.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_01]: Debo if I was going off for him, but I'd prefer Christian cook over Debo.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: Because he can beat me in coverage.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: Because he actually has good hands.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Debo, now versus Debo, three years ago, it's a different conversation.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_01]: But now you've got, you're going to be one of the most past happy teams in the NFL this year.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers are, they were one of the most past happy teams in the NFL last year.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk, more reliable options that you can trust.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't Kendrick Boren that's got to line up off sides, jump fall start, drop balls, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: But then have a 180-yard game.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: Right, I have back to that thing.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk is a consistent player.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have a great year last year.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: Was great in the postseason though.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, kind of deal with that, how you want.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_01]: Right here, yeah, Logan, Christian Kirk ruined the wide receiver market with the other huge car track he did, man.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was crazy.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_01]: Natori is, how long do you think you'll take Kirk to learn Kyle's complicated playbook?
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_01]: Not that long, he was with Houston last year.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_01]: It might take a little while, but he's he's he's he's just going to be a slot.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like he he's he's not going to be playing.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_01]: Christian curse going to get 20 snaps of game, right?
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that this is.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_01]: like he'll be quote unquote a starter in three wide receiver sets, but this guy you're going to be out there all the time.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: Johnny, what would it take for John to refer to himself as captain?
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_01]: Captain John Sparrow?
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: I must have missed something there.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_01]: You could learn Cliff King's experience over dinner.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that thing is hilarious.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a joke.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Maria Kirk is underrated signing in my opinion.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: Solid.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like these are the types of guys you didn't have last year.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now you have these guys.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: now you have these guys.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Logan.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: This might be the best wide receiver Brock party has ever had considered last year was the weakest wide receiver room.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm cool with that.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_01]: And you go back to
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the year I you called out and all that stuff and you had like the three 1,000 yard receivers with, you know, I you Debo and kiddo.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: This year is better.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: I do agree with that.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_01]: What to see how it pans out.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Kirk has a lot to prove, but he's betting on himself.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_01]: I love people have bet on themselves.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_01]: Kirk and
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_01]: They're both undersized, but Cowings way smaller.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_01]: The ceiling for Cowings huge.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_01]: I just, man, I'm going consistent.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_01]: I really am.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_01]: Ben, hamstring.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's a one word I don't wanna hear this year.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, we'll see there.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_01]: Could Christian Kirk be our Cooper Cup this year?
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Cup plays a lot out this slot.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's not near as good a route runner.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't have near as good as hands.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't block.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: Probably Cooper Cups most underrated trait.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: That dude's a wide receiver plus blocking if there ever was one.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think Christian Kirk.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk could be our 2017 Trent Taylor.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I think Shanahan envisions.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody that could just get open, quick, and just move the chains.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_01]: Elon gated handoffs.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: Quick reads for Brock Perty on overload blitzes.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: Things like that.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I see with Christian Kirk first downs first downs first downs.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I see with Christian Kirk.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there we go.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_01]: Captain Kirk.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I like that.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you were referencing.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_01]: Captain Kirk.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: I get it could start worse.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_01]: Is that right.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_01]: Does the thumb go in for live long and prosper?
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do there.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a tricky.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_01]: My friend was a tricky.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: My friends, parents were trekkies and I just made fun of them all the time.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: I respect the Star Wars.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh shoot.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_01]: I just got being trouble.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_01]: Start track totally different thing.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I never, I never watched it very much.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it's awesome.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to clean on and all that stuff.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_01]: So we're trying to call Christian Kirk captain Kirk.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we're doing.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_01]: So Captain Kirk.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on board.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: Be me up Scotty.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: I did it right now.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's right.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: That was a good reference.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_01]: I get that reference.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure somebody just hates me right now.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_01]: I love you guys.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_01]: I need to know what to do with the thumb because I can do the live long and prosper.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know ET phone home.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how to do that.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: You all got to help me out with that.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: But that's going to do it for us today.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad to be back.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I'm glad and we're going to be rolling You know full speed ahead.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see here.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_01]: I message Wayne He is not gone back to me.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I think he's had a gig So we'll see we'll see we'll see if we'll get a John Wayne show if not I'll be for a solo show I know we got Larry on Wednesday and hoping to get a coach approaching on Thursday, but it's time like we are here and
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's nowhere else I'd rather be.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is what I wanted to with my time.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's to be with you guys and talk, wonderful 49ers football.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very thankful to have this opportunity and I want to understand why I do is because of you guys.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking for the answer.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody gave me the answer with the thing.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to have to go over to ChatGPT, I guess, and figure out how to do the live long and prosper.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_01]: But for us and the 49ers rush show, we appreciate you guys and as always.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_01]: Till next time, stay strong, faithful, live long and prosper, when one of us wins, we all win, we throw them all in there, say most of the best, till next time.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_01]: Peace!
