- 0:00Many of us are self sabotaging our own success, our own ability
- 0:05to rapidly grow our business and we're putting this beautiful
- 0:09window dressing on it of saying its productivity.
- 0:12Why am I not there? Why do I not have those results?
- 0:14Why do I not have that reality? Your nervous system is lying to
- 0:18you. You're planting seeds, patting
- 0:20it down, putting water on it, and 30 seconds later asking
- 0:23yourself where's the plant? Certain things are going to take
- 0:26time. You've got to let them cook. 66%
- 0:30of you are abandoning the thing that could literally blow up
- 0:34your business simply based off the fact you didn't see it
- 0:38through. They're like, see that just
- 0:40never works. There's something that probably
- 0:43has half of the expertise that you have half of the knowledge,
- 0:46and because they are faster at execution, they're winning.
- 0:50Inaction is always going to cost more than imperfect action.
- 0:56Where are you right now seeing somebody who has way more reps
- 0:59than you and saying I should have their results?
- 1:02Are you running a business or are you reacting to one?
- 1:06Hello and welcome back to Ambitious.
- 1:08Today we are diving into something that is probably the
- 1:12two sides of the business coin that you yourself have
- 1:15experienced, which is the fact that on one side, we're taught
- 1:18that progress requires patience. And so we need to be patient
- 1:22with our results, patient with our momentum, and to sometimes
- 1:26just put your head down and don't look up to assess things
- 1:29too quickly. But then on the contrast, we
- 1:32also were told that success loves speed.
- 1:35And so we have it should go fast and speed is the answer.
- 1:40But then we also have patience is the answer.
- 1:43And so often times it can feel like that these two sides
- 1:46conflict and that they both feel true at the same time and yet we
- 1:51don't know which one we should be focusing on.
- 1:53Is this a season where I just need to be patient and I need to
- 1:56realize that the result needs time to allow itself to develop?
- 2:01Or is there something that I should be expecting to see
- 2:04happen faster? Should my results be happening
- 2:07faster? And here I am saying, oh, just
- 2:09be patient. How do we know what's the right
- 2:11answer? And so that's what I want to
- 2:13help you to really master today, which is to understand when we
- 2:17look at patients and we look at speed in business, how do we
- 2:21know what situations warrant speed and which situations
- 2:25warrant patients? And is it possible that you're
- 2:29actually using speed when you shouldn't be, or patients when
- 2:33you shouldn't be? I personally feel like not
- 2:43enough people talk about, OK, well, if what got you here won't
- 2:46get you there, OK, fine, probably true.
- 2:50What got me to 6 figures won't get me to 7.
- 2:52What got me to 7 won't get me to multiple 7.
- 2:55But then the question we're left with, well, then what do I need
- 2:58to be working on? What do I need to be doing?
- 3:00And so that's what I want to break down today is let's
- 3:03actually go deep under the hood of what it looks like to master
- 3:09patients while also mastering speed at the same time.
- 3:14And so if you're hearing this and you're thinking I'm
- 3:17resonating with this because I don't even know the relationship
- 3:19around this, it's not because you're moving too slow and it's
- 3:22not because you're moving too fast.
- 3:24It's often because you're pressing the wrong buttons at
- 3:27the wrong time. That's what I see.
- 3:29But a lot of businesses I work with is that they're not not
- 3:33having patience or not having speed.
- 3:35They're, I think integrating one or the other at a time where it
- 3:38isn't necessarily warranted, meaning your patient when you
- 3:42actually need to be having some aspect of urgency and of speed
- 3:46underneath you. And there's other times when I
- 3:48see people who are clearly all about urgency and it's like
- 3:52speed, speed, speed, let's go fast, fast, fast.
- 3:55And they recognize like you just need to be patient in this
- 3:58season. But again, how do we know what's
- 4:00right and how do we know what's wrong?
- 4:01So sitting, for example, on a launch that you want to do or an
- 4:05idea that you want to do and you're trying to refine it and
- 4:08you're trying to perfect it. That is a time when you've put
- 4:11patients in the wrong bucket. You've put patients as the wrong
- 4:16tier for yourself, which is why you're dragging out something
- 4:20that probably should have already gone out by now.
- 4:22On the contrast, if you launch something and you're whipping
- 4:26this together, and then you're also panicking days out from
- 4:30when you release it to your audience and you're like, Oh my
- 4:32gosh, this hasn't sold. It's also possible because you
- 4:36put speed in a place where it didn't belong.
- 4:40And So what I've reflected on myself with my business and also
- 4:44with a, the lot of the clients that I serve who are at the same
- 4:46level as you, who are wanting to grow their business, you want to
- 4:49scale, you want to TA into that next level.
- 4:53It's not always just about the strategy itself, but it also can
- 4:56be about your relationship with time in connection to that
- 5:01strategy. And so that's what I want to
- 5:03unpack today. You are probably either the
- 5:05person who's like white knuckling through literally
- 5:08everything that you do. And it kind of feels like at all
- 5:11times like the building is on fire.
- 5:13And on the other side, we've also got where you are
- 5:16overthinking every move until you feel like you have the
- 5:21perfect runway, the perfect kind of time to be able to execute on
- 5:25it. And so let's find the happy
- 5:27medium of this. And finally, once and for all,
- 5:31give you a structure on where does patients come in and where
- 5:34does speed come in when we're scaling a business.
- 5:36OK, so one of the first things that I love, I don't know about
- 5:40you, but I love you're taking those quizzes online where you
- 5:43feel like it's like what's your love language or like what's
- 5:46your, what's your content creator archetype or what's your
- 5:49style, your style category or whatever it is.
- 5:53I'm like, diagnose me. I am someone who is a stickler
- 5:56for a diagnosis. I love a good diagnosis of
- 5:59basically putting in what I'm experiencing, what I'm going
- 6:03through and saying here's what we see within this.
- 6:06And so I want this next little bit here to be that for you.
- 6:09I want you to look to see yourself within this and say,
- 6:13are these things that I'm doing? Are these things I'm believing?
- 6:16Are these things that I'm executing?
- 6:19And if so, we're going to uncover where you might be
- 6:23misusing speed when you need patience or patience when you
- 6:27actually need speed. OK, Now first is for those of
- 6:32you who are patient when you actually need to be fast.
- 6:36And this is something that I see most commonly presenting itself
- 6:41more often than not in the bucket of execution.
- 6:43So when someone has been working on something for what feels like
- 6:47forever, they're refining it. They're dialing in e-mail
- 6:50sequences, they're dialing in design, they're dialing in, You
- 6:54know, I just want to perfect the messaging.
- 6:56I want to film a little bit more videos.
- 6:58I want to just like kind of tweak, tweak, tweak, right?
- 7:01You are refine the same project, the same launch, the same pivot
- 7:05that you've been talking about for weeks.
- 7:07Sometimes I've even seen this with people and I go, hey, it's
- 7:12been a couple months that you've been talking about changing your
- 7:15content or there's been a couple months where you've been talking
- 7:18about launching that offer. It's been a couple months where
- 7:21you've been talking about integrating a different schedule
- 7:26for yourself. Like at what point here are we
- 7:28actually going to do this? At what point here are we going
- 7:31to flick the switch and really do it?
- 7:33And what I find is that they're probably in some regard is a, an
- 7:39underbelly of perfectionism. So there is kind of this, this
- 7:42root of it just feels like it's not complete.
- 7:45It feels like it's not perfect. It feels like it's not finished.
- 7:49But often times you may find yourself hiding behind refining.
- 7:53And that's what I see is that I see a lot of people who maybe
- 7:57even yourself, you feel like you're like, it just needs to be
- 7:59refined. I got to refine the offer,
- 8:00refine the e-mail sequence. It just needs a couple more
- 8:04tweaks. It's just not quite done.
- 8:06And a question I ask, and I'd ask you is if you are someone
- 8:10who feels like you are often times more often than not in
- 8:14refinement bucket, A question that I asked myself is what does
- 8:18done look like? And it's a very simple question,
- 8:23but it's a very effective question because when we are
- 8:26like, it just needs a bit more. It just needs a bit more.
- 8:30Often times it is this belief that if we just add something,
- 8:34if I just change something, then it will finally be done.
- 8:38But often times I would probably submit that most of us don't
- 8:42even know what done looks like. You may not even know what the
- 8:45true complete of the thing you've been refining is.
- 8:49And then you wonder why it's taking you months to figure out
- 8:52this business idea or this business offer and you're
- 8:55refining, refining, refining when you don't even know what
- 8:57complete looks like in the 1st place.
- 9:00So if you are someone who feels like you are constantly in
- 9:03refinement, often times you can even, you know, see this in
- 9:08things like delay of execution with taking weeks to respond to
- 9:12something that is a opportunity or, you know, weeks to execute
- 9:18on an idea. Because the thing that I hear
- 9:20is, oh, I just, I really want to think about it first.
- 9:23I want to think about it and I want to think about it is a
- 9:26really interesting thing to share because kind of almost if
- 9:31we think about it like a sales objection, I ask myself when I'm
- 9:35like, I need to think about it. Well, what do you need to think
- 9:37about? Like I do this with myself.
- 9:39This is not just with clients. I will say, what do you need to
- 9:42think about? If I'm, you know, I thought
- 9:46about launching a second business.
- 9:47I thought about, you know, something I want to do with my
- 9:51marketing. I thought about XI, thought
- 9:53about Y. The question becomes what do you
- 9:56need to think about? What are you thinking about?
- 9:59And if you don't know what it is that you need to solve for, then
- 10:03really what it means is we're just circling the drain with
- 10:06time. And so This is why when you are
- 10:08one of those people who has an idea or you have clarity or you
- 10:12have a goal post, but you're also not pressing go on it,
- 10:16you're not necessarily executing on it.
- 10:18We want to ask what are we needing to think about?
- 10:22What are we actually going to define as complete when it comes
- 10:26to this task? So we're non endless refinement.
- 10:29And the reason this is important because you know, if I'm going
- 10:32to be honest with you, there's somebody that probably has half
- 10:37of the expertise that you have, half of the knowledge, half of
- 10:40the awareness, the education, you label it how you want.
- 10:46And because they are faster at execution, they're winning.
- 10:52It's a simple way to put it. When somebody feels like they
- 10:56are OK with pressing go on something without the full
- 11:00picture complete, you will often times see that they will get
- 11:04better results, they will get quicker results.
- 11:07And that's because they're not in this, you know, ruminating
- 11:11and refining bucket. They are 321 go and they press
- 11:14execute and they move forward. They do not delay on things like
- 11:18execution, for example, of hiring or delegating, right?
- 11:22I see this with people who will say, oh, well, you know, it's
- 11:25just faster if I do it myself. Well, yes, it is faster probably
- 11:28if you do it yourself this time, but it's not faster if you do it
- 11:31yourself for the next 72 times that you do it.
- 11:34So in these moments, whether it's with marketing offer team,
- 11:38any bucket in your business, it's not a matter of in those
- 11:42moments about patients. It's about the fact that many of
- 11:46us, if we just call it what it is, we are self sabotaging our
- 11:50own success, our own ability to rapidly grow our business.
- 11:55And we're putting this beautiful window dressing or this wrapping
- 11:59paper on it of saying it's productivity.
- 12:02What you're really doing is you are someone who's postponing
- 12:07your potential achievement, your potential success with a lens of
- 12:12I'm being productive, I'm perfecting it, I'm refining it.
- 12:16When really what you're doing is you're retracting from what's
- 12:19possible for you. You're pulling yourself away
- 12:21from what could actually be the reality for you and for your
- 12:24business. And so the indicator #1 is
- 12:29asking yourself, are you someone who's actually in these
- 12:33instances? And maybe as I'm saying this,
- 12:35you're like, oh, I'm thinking of an offer.
- 12:36I'm thinking about that marketing thing I said I was
- 12:38going to do. I was thinking about that, that,
- 12:41that thing I said I'd execute or that thing I said I press go on.
- 12:44And I haven't done it yet. And I've been putting it off.
- 12:47I'm putting it off. Asking yourself, is it really
- 12:50just you saying that you're being patient, You're being
- 12:54patient with the launch, you're being patient with the offer,
- 12:56but really what you're doing is you're procrastinating.
- 12:59Really what you're doing is you're pushing it away.
- 13:01Really what you're doing is not acknowledging that this is an
- 13:05instance that needs speed. It doesn't require patience in
- 13:08this moment. Now, the second thing that I
- 13:11see, it's the total contrast, which is you are being fast in
- 13:16moments that you need to be patient.
- 13:18And I often see this most commonly, more often than not in
- 13:21the bucket of results. OK, I will tell you, I have had
- 13:29people that I've worked with who have hit seven figures after
- 13:33three calls together, OK, three calls with me.
- 13:36I've had people who've hit seven figures.
- 13:38I've done it. It's possible.
- 13:40It's not to say that the brands I've worked with haven't had
- 13:43massive overnight success, but I would be lying to you if I said
- 13:48that that was every single client who works with me.
- 13:51It's not. One of the things that we know
- 13:53is results take time. And I think one of the most
- 13:59difficult things for us as entrepreneurs is that we expect
- 14:03that as soon as we do something, it takes off.
- 14:06As soon as we press go on it, of course it's going to land.
- 14:08Of course it's going to see results.
- 14:10Of course it's going to see momentum.
- 14:12And often times I literally see people who do something and they
- 14:17do it for two weeks. Sometimes they'll do it for two
- 14:21months and they'll look up and be like, no, it's not working.
- 14:25I'm scrapping it. If you went to the gym for two
- 14:30weeks and you didn't hit your goal and you're like, well, see,
- 14:34this gym thing doesn't work out. No, Sarah, it's not that the gym
- 14:39has anything wrong with it. It's the fact that you didn't go
- 14:41to the gym for more than two weeks and then you're doing the
- 14:44same thing in your business. You're doing a marketing
- 14:46strategy, you're putting out an offer, you're, you know,
- 14:49launching or rebranding. You're training A-Team member.
- 14:52You know, the amount of people who will bring in a team member
- 14:56and that team member doesn't know in the first two weeks
- 14:58exactly how to just step into a role without help.
- 15:00And they're like, see, just never works.
- 15:06I'm like, it's been 2 weeks. It's it's been two months, It's
- 15:10been 60 days, right? Like it's shocking to me how
- 15:14many of us will look up in the shortest amount of time and
- 15:18expect insane results when you haven't even given it time to
- 15:25bloom. You didn't even give it time to
- 15:28come to fruition. And it says, and I literally
- 15:32pulled a stop from this because I had to share this with you,
- 15:3466% of our strategy decisions and our executions fail. 66 mark
- 15:42that in your brain. 66% of our strategic decisions and actions
- 15:46are failing because of premature abandonment and not a bad
- 15:51strategy. Need I repeat this?
- 15:5666% of you are abandoning your idea, your strategy, your
- 16:02execution, IE the thing that could literally work and help to
- 16:06blow up your business. 66% of all those will fail simply based
- 16:14off the fact you didn't see it through.
- 16:18And so This is why, you know, when people say, oh, it doesn't
- 16:21work, Maybe it's not about the fact that it doesn't work, but
- 16:23it's about the fact that you refuse to let it have time to
- 16:27work. So I think about this in so many
- 16:31instances, like the gym expecting results and being
- 16:34like, I did 2 workouts, where's my abs?
- 16:37I ate 2 healthy meals. Why they not lost, you know, 20
- 16:41lbs. I put up two things of a new
- 16:45marketing strategy. Where is my 50 leads that I'm
- 16:48expecting? Like we need to center and ask
- 16:52ourselves in what instance did we expect that the 1st and
- 16:56potentially singular time we've done something that we expected
- 17:00to overnight generate us results?
- 17:02And again, how many times are you abandoning something that
- 17:07could have worked, but you didn't see it through simply
- 17:10based off the fact that it wasn't happening fast enough in
- 17:13your books? This is important because you
- 17:17may be quitting on things that are working and that could
- 17:21literally be your quote UN quote big break.
- 17:24The thing that actually allows you to see the results that you
- 17:26want for yourself and for your business, but you just never
- 17:29gave them time. I think about it like someone
- 17:32who is planting seeds, OK, You are planting seeds in your
- 17:35business with your offer, with your brand, in any department
- 17:38you pick. You're planting seeds and you
- 17:41are literally planting that seed in the ground, patting it down,
- 17:44putting water on it and 30 seconds later asking yourself
- 17:48where's the plant? It's not there because you
- 17:54haven't given it time to grow. And so the real entrepreneurs
- 17:59who are successful recognize that there are instances where
- 18:04if you've got, you know, a chia pet that all of us remember as
- 18:08kids, you need to let that have time to grow.
- 18:11You need to let it have time to bloom.
- 18:13You come back each day after school, see how much it grew
- 18:15that day. The same thing is true when it
- 18:17comes to your business. Certain things are going to take
- 18:19time. You got to let them cook.
- 18:22You keep taking it out of the oven and wondering why it
- 18:24doesn't taste good. It's because you never let it
- 18:26time to be finished. So this looks like people who
- 18:32are maybe like yourself, checking things constantly.
- 18:36You'll put up a post with a new strategy and within an hour
- 18:39you're like, do they like it? Are they saving it?
- 18:42Is there profile visits? Did we get link clicks?
- 18:44Are people applying and it's within like 2 hours of the thing
- 18:47that you've put out or you are seeing something that's happened
- 18:51for 24 hours inside your business and you're deciding
- 18:54that this is the time that we should make a decision off this.
- 18:57This is something that we should definitely build a plan off
- 18:59because it's happened for 24 hours.
- 19:02It's not data in that sense. It's noise.
- 19:06It's reactive decision making, it's reactive actions.
- 19:10And I literally had a line here that I said to a client because
- 19:16she had something that she want to do with team and she wanted
- 19:20to unlock inner efficiency. And I literally wrote a quote
- 19:24here of what I said to her as a cue for myself.
- 19:26And I'm like, I really feel like everybody at some point needs to
- 19:30hear it's not broken. It's only Tuesday.
- 19:36It's not broken. It's only insert day.
- 19:40It's only Tuesday. It's only Wednesday.
- 19:42It's only Thursday or IE, if you were somebody, I can tell you
- 19:46that this from personal experience.
- 19:48If you want to do a podcast, if you are somebody who wants to
- 19:51have a podcast and you put out your first podcast ever and
- 19:54you've got your janky little webcam and your mic that you're
- 19:57not even sure is picking up your audio and you record your
- 20:00episode and you are like, OK, yes, the podcast is out to the
- 20:04world. And you launch that and you get
- 20:0650 people who watch it and you're like, Oh my God.
- 20:11Not Joe Rogan. What is going on?
- 20:13That's not anything wrong with your podcast.
- 20:15It's your first episode. So it doesn't matter whether you
- 20:19are a brand spanking new entrepreneur or if you are
- 20:22someone who's scaling at some level of your business, you're
- 20:26going to integrate new things, you're going to execute new
- 20:28things. And I think this ability to not
- 20:31let things breathe is actually what bottlenecks so many of us
- 20:34from seeing the potential that you could be seeing inside of
- 20:37your Business Today if you just let it breathe.
- 20:41So this also comes in when we think about results and
- 20:45especially in the bucket of comparison when you are
- 20:48potentially comparing your Month 2 to somebody else's Year 2 or
- 20:54your Week 2 to somebody else's Week 14 in whatever scale you
- 20:59also want to be conscious of what are we using as our
- 21:02benchmark of results? Because even when someone says,
- 21:06you know, for my business, someone said to me last week,
- 21:09they said, Kate, I feel like you don't live on social media.
- 21:12And I really like it. Like I want that kind of
- 21:14business. And I had to be really frank
- 21:16with her. I said, how long have you been a
- 21:17business? And she was like, well, this
- 21:19will be coming up on 2-3 years. And she's had a lot of success,
- 21:22don't get me wrong, tons of success for 2-3 years.
- 21:25But I said, I'm going to be honest, I've been in business
- 21:30for eight years. So where I'm at in eight years
- 21:34and what I'm doing is not how I built my business.
- 21:37Like I lived on social media when I was building my business.
- 21:41And that's because it was effective.
- 21:43It did what I needed to do, which is it was getting me
- 21:46results. So if you are somebody who's
- 21:51watching someone and you're thinking, why am I not there?
- 21:53Why do I not have those results? Why do I not have that reality?
- 21:57I also want you to ask yourself a question.
- 21:59How long has that person been in business?
- 22:01How long have they been building brand?
- 22:03How many posts do they have on the Internet?
- 22:06How many testimonials and clients have they helped?
- 22:09Because the reality is all of those factors are ingredients
- 22:13that are going to contribute to somebody having different
- 22:16results in a different reality. It's like I this week, and I
- 22:22can't believe I'm saying so loud.
- 22:23It's making it real. I am joining a CrossFit gym this
- 22:26week. My girlfriend Kelsey and I
- 22:28actually, like a year ago decided that we wanted to do a
- 22:31hyrox. And am I in shape for a Hyrox?
- 22:35No, no, no, no, I am not in shape for a hyrox, but I was.
- 22:39OK, well, how am I going to get in shape?
- 22:41I'm going to think my think my way into shape.
- 22:43I need to go get around people who do the exact same workouts
- 22:46that I need to do to do this Hyrox.
- 22:48And so on Tuesday this week, I will be going and starting
- 22:53CrossFit multiple times a week. Have I done CrossFit?
- 22:55No. Am I probably going to eat dirt
- 22:58and fall on the ground? Yeah.
- 23:00But the thing that I recognize is I'm not going to go in and
- 23:03see the girl doing muscle ups and doing crazy deadlifts and
- 23:07all these things and be like, well, why am I not doing that?
- 23:09Because you just got here. You literally got your
- 23:11membership today. And she's been coming for the
- 23:14last six years. We need a reference point also
- 23:17when we're looking at the speed of how fast we expect to get to
- 23:20where we want to go. Are we considering the factors
- 23:23that go into somebody's results? Are we considering the reality
- 23:26of what it takes to get the results that we're expecting?
- 23:30And it's something that I think about.
- 23:33There's a million ways you can phrase it.
- 23:35You know, people always say you got to let it cook.
- 23:38You got to let it cook is one of the phrases.
- 23:40But it really is for me. I think in my mind about reps
- 23:45and I think about how many reps I can get in something before I
- 23:49actually say it's good or it's bad.
- 23:51So even with this podcast, my initial episodes, the lighting
- 23:58was something I found on YouTube and I didn't have any
- 24:02understanding of technology. I was like, this plug fits in
- 24:04this hole. Hopefully this works OK.
- 24:06And my team contested that. It's been a journey with our
- 24:10technology. But when I first started my
- 24:13videos, you know, transparently, if you go back to episode 1 of
- 24:17Ambitious, we're kind of giving hostage video in a basement.
- 24:20Like they were just, they weren't, you know, they weren't
- 24:24the caliber that I would expect for myself.
- 24:27But here's the thing, it was my first podcast.
- 24:28It was my first ever video. So I now have great lights and I
- 24:33have a great, you know, system and I have great technology and
- 24:36I have all these beautiful things now.
- 24:37But I didn't have that then because it was episode 1.
- 24:41We are now into our hundred episodes.
- 24:43And this is where, again, refinement comes in.
- 24:47But I didn't beat myself up at the time.
- 24:48I was having a blast because I was like, hey, like, these are
- 24:51my junky little lights. And I got, you know, a random
- 24:55curtain off the Internet and a rod.
- 24:57And I put it up and I thought, OK, well, here we go.
- 24:59And I didn't judge myself because I recognized that it
- 25:03was, again, a reps thing. I don't get to refine or to
- 25:07criticize myself until I actually have reps to say that
- 25:11the caliber of output that I'm looking for should be different.
- 25:15So I want you to ask yourself, where are you comparing?
- 25:19Where are you right now seeing somebody who has way more reps
- 25:23than you and saying I should have their results?
- 25:26Also, where are you right now expecting to see in one week, in
- 25:32two weeks, results of something that just might take two months
- 25:36or frankly, 2 years? Where are you expecting to see
- 25:41results in something that aren't really realistic?
- 25:45Because you're like, no, like I, I'm a hustler.
- 25:47I collapse timelines. Listen, Ditto, Ditto.
- 25:52I built A7 figure business in 18 months.
- 25:55But the reality is I didn't push myself to be like, it should be
- 25:59happening faster. It's already happening fast
- 26:01enough. It happened in 18 months.
- 26:02It takes sometimes people multiple years or a decade to do
- 26:06that, or some people never achieve it at all.
- 26:10So it's grounding yourself in reality while also remaining
- 26:14ambitious. And again, it's this duality of
- 26:17these two pieces that need to coexist.
- 26:21The third thing we have to realize is that sometimes we're
- 26:23also patient with things that we shouldn't be patient with.
- 26:26Meaning, there are things that right now you are being patient
- 26:29with that you should have cut yesterday from your business.
- 26:33One of the key ones that I see with this one, and I'm sorry if
- 26:36this lands for you, but the reality is it's probably the
- 26:38most common of anything I hear is team members.
- 26:43Unfortunately, you are keeping people or things in your
- 26:48business right now that are not serving you.
- 26:50You probably, even if you looked, have evidence to say and
- 26:53data to say that the thing that you're keeping is from a data
- 26:57perspective, not serving you. It's not getting you an outcome.
- 27:00It's not generating anything, and yet we're keeping it.
- 27:04So one of the things that I see is when people keep things in
- 27:08the business, they keep team members, they keep strategies,
- 27:10they keep things they're executing with full evidence,
- 27:14awareness and data that it's not doing anything for them, that
- 27:18it's not generating anything for the business.
- 27:21So if you are someone keeping A-Team member, if you are also
- 27:25somebody and this is also potentially going to land where
- 27:28you're keeping an offer that really is not working.
- 27:31Like I had a conversation with someone last week and she was
- 27:36saying, you know what, I have to keep this offer.
- 27:38And I said, OK, well let's talk about it.
- 27:39If you have to keep that offer, how many people have inquired
- 27:42about that offer in the last like 30-60 days?
- 27:46Nobody. I was like, OK, how much are we
- 27:49paying the team member for that offer?
- 27:51And so she shared. And so I said, let me get this
- 27:53straight. We have had zero interest in
- 27:55that offer for 60, potentially 90 days.
- 27:59And yet we're paying someone to sit in that seat waiting for
- 28:02someone to come for 1/4. Almost right.
- 28:06Like it's like this belief of, of, oh, well, I'm just going to
- 28:09keep selling it because I believe in it.
- 28:11It should have been gone yesterday.
- 28:12It's not a matter of patience. It's the fact that there's no
- 28:14demand for it or there's people who have offers that even are
- 28:20making money. They are offers that people
- 28:22want. They are things that, you know,
- 28:24your audience is consuming. Like for example, I had an
- 28:28agency that came to me and they were saying, you know, oh, we
- 28:31have lots of demand for this price point and they have been
- 28:33charging probably around $1500 for something that they were
- 28:36offering. And so I remember thinking,
- 28:40well, why are we still offering that?
- 28:42We know we're not making money on it, meaning that we know the
- 28:45margins are not good for a done for you service at 1500 a month.
- 28:49We know there's not a lot of margins there.
- 28:51We know that it's not quite giving you what you're looking
- 28:54for. We know you don't want to be
- 28:56working with that caliber of package anymore.
- 28:59Why are we keeping that? They're like, Oh, well, it's
- 29:01selling, OK. But if it's selling, why are we
- 29:06keeping that package? Why are we keeping that price
- 29:08point when we know we don't want it and we keep selling it?
- 29:11It makes no sense. And so when we started to unpack
- 29:14it, it's it was draining them, it was attracting the wrong
- 29:17people. It was keeping us positioned
- 29:20within that business as something that they wanted to
- 29:23leave behind. Like a year earlier.
- 29:25They wanted to have minimum packages starting at $3000 and
- 29:29yet we're still selling packages at 1500.
- 29:34Why was that? It's because they were like, oh,
- 29:36well, you know, we're just going to be patient with the
- 29:38transition. I said patient with the
- 29:40transition. It's been a year and a half.
- 29:42We got to cut this. We got to remove the offer and
- 29:45remove what I consider to be like the back door of comfort
- 29:50that is keeping you where you are.
- 29:51I had another agency that I was supporting.
- 29:55We had a team member and I said, how do you feel about this team
- 29:57member? Are they providing?
- 29:58Are they getting results? And we started to ask and audit
- 30:00these questions. And they were like, no, like we
- 30:03really, we really do need to get somebody else in.
- 30:05And I asked a simple question. I said, how long have you known
- 30:08that? They're like probably like 9
- 30:11months now. Nine months, nine months, they
- 30:16knew they need to let someone go.
- 30:18And so I said to them, here's my rule.
- 30:20If you know that someone is not a good fit for the business and
- 30:23you know that you do not need this person anymore inside your
- 30:26business, you tell them now you get a replacement and you tell
- 30:31them now, because looking at time's going to fix this.
- 30:36Here's my rule. If time was going to fix
- 30:39something and patience alone was what you needed to succeed, you
- 30:43would be able to see A at a minimum micro momentum happening
- 30:48over time where you would see different results that are
- 30:51happening with time, right? So if it's like patience was
- 30:55needed, we would see momentum. If we are putting patience and
- 30:58therefore allowing time to pass, but we're not seeing any shift
- 31:01of momentum, it really means that we have our head in the
- 31:03sand and we're not looking to actively acknowledge the reality
- 31:06of what's in front of us. Lastly is speed when it comes to
- 31:12identity shifts, but you're slow when it comes to the behaviour
- 31:17that you need to match it. OK, so a lot of you will say I
- 31:23want to be a CEO. You probably tell yourself I
- 31:25want to operate like a CEO. I want to operate in this, this
- 31:28higher level identity, right? We've talked about identity.
- 31:30We talked about the fact of like operating in the in the future,
- 31:33you stepping into that future version of yourself, looking at
- 31:36who we want to become and how we want to be showing up.
- 31:40But then at the same time we're saying that we're like, yeah, I
- 31:43want to be like quick, like step into this person, step into this
- 31:46new identity, step into this new version of me.
- 31:49At the same time, you were also answering all your DMS. You were
- 31:53also the person editing all of your own content.
- 31:56You were also the person who is taking clients at a lower rate
- 32:00because, you know, just in case or I want to try to help as many
- 32:03people as I can. You're still the person who's
- 32:06doing and holding and managing so much.
- 32:10So yes, on one hand, you've got the speed of integration of
- 32:13like, I want to be this identity, but for some reason
- 32:17you've got such a slow pace, a patience that's coming in with
- 32:21how quick you're actually integrating the behaviors that
- 32:25are needed for that identity to truly take shape.
- 32:28And so the identity is moving fast, but your behavior is
- 32:33moving slow. So when you are doing internal
- 32:39work, identity work, that's actually what's going to move
- 32:44slower, right? It's not like when you are on a
- 32:47Tuesday and you're a certain kind of person that you wake up
- 32:51on Thursday and all of a sudden you're somebody else.
- 32:55Inner work, the identity work that is needed to evolve
- 32:59yourself does take time. Now, it's not to put a time cap
- 33:02on it to say it has to take you 2 years to reinvent yourself.
- 33:05I've seen people who've completely reinvent themselves
- 33:08in three to six months. Like they dive right in and they
- 33:12do that work, but that work still is a process.
- 33:15But truthfully, the thing that actually generated the biggest
- 33:18amount of their results and the biggest impact of what they saw
- 33:23happen was the fact that their behavior, the speed of their
- 33:27behavior matched the speed of their behavior showed up to
- 33:31match the identity of the person that they wanted to call in.
- 33:35So it's not just thinking yourself quickly to this person
- 33:37and then letting all your behavior stay the same.
- 33:40It's actually slowly letting yourself get closer and closer
- 33:43to this identity and as fast as possible aligning your behaviors
- 33:48to the version of yourself that you want to become.
- 33:52So if we know that we have the speed and patience, speed and
- 33:55patience, why do we struggle with this?
- 33:58Where does this come from? Why do we get stuck making
- 34:01these, you know, mistakes or these behaviors and allowing
- 34:05these to continue? And there's a couple core places
- 34:07where these are rooted from. And these really helped me to
- 34:11kind of give myself, I guess I would say, a little bit of grace
- 34:14to recognize and rewrite this relationship between speed and
- 34:19patience, Speed and patience. The first thing you have to
- 34:22recognize is that you built your business on speed, right?
- 34:25Like we know, and again, that classic line of like success,
- 34:28love speed. We know that speed is something
- 34:32that is an indicator and a follower of success.
- 34:36And often times when you were starting your business, it
- 34:38worked. It generated results you were
- 34:40looking for. It actually allowed you to see
- 34:42momentum all the way until it didn't, which is when speed was
- 34:48no longer actually the single driver of what was going to get
- 34:52you the outcomes. You can be scrappy in certain
- 34:55seasons of your business. You can be really innovative,
- 34:58fast speed, all of that definitely does have a place.
- 35:03But the pace that you go to hit your first 10K month is not the
- 35:08same speed of execution or speed of thought process or
- 35:12scrappiness that you're going to integrate when you want to go
- 35:16to, for example, 50K months, right?
- 35:18Or 100K months, 150K months. The 10K version of Speed is not
- 35:23the same 10K version of Speed when you're looking to build a 7
- 35:27figure business. And that's because when you just
- 35:30have this scrappiness, you just are like OK, like this goes
- 35:33here, this goes here, this goes here.
- 35:35What you actually do is you create a mess.
- 35:39At the beginning, you could be scrappy because it was just you.
- 35:41Maybe you had like Ava that was helping you.
- 35:44But when you are scrappy and frankly messy, and you have a
- 35:48team that is part of your structure, what you're doing
- 35:53indirectly is you're creating a mess of a structure for other
- 35:57people to need to operate in. So you think you're going
- 35:591,000,000 miles an hour, but what you're really doing is
- 36:02you're knocking stuff over every step you take.
- 36:05And I hear this more often than not from people who are inside
- 36:09of other people's businesses. I work with teams.
- 36:12And so they'll come to me and say something to the effect of
- 36:14like, Oh my God, Kate on the weekend, she and they're talking
- 36:18about the CEO went in and she did this to our click up and she
- 36:21did this to our our structure and she did this to our
- 36:23strategy. And she literally unravelled the
- 36:26entire thing. So the team's getting frustrated
- 36:28because the person is going in and literally creating a
- 36:31disaster inside of the business because they're like, Oh yeah,
- 36:35speed, speed, speed, but the speed actually collapses the
- 36:38structure that they built. So when you are trying to build
- 36:42a 7 figure business, what I want you to recognize is that you are
- 36:46trying to build a skyscraper. You are trying to build one of
- 36:50the most beautiful large buildings that is going to stand
- 36:53tall and strong in a gorgeous structure.
- 36:57You're not going to use the exact same tools to build a
- 37:00skyscraper, IEA 7 figure business that you're going to
- 37:04for the 1st house you built. It requires different structure,
- 37:08it requires different tools and it requires a different level of
- 37:11intention strictly based off size of what it is that you're
- 37:16creating. So speed, yes, did get you here
- 37:21in your business, but discernment around what needs
- 37:26speed and what needs slow is actually what's going to get you
- 37:29to seven figures because scrappiness can actually unravel
- 37:34scaling when it's done in ways or places that it is not
- 37:39supportive. So every time that you slow
- 37:42down, if you feel like this is not strategic for me to slow
- 37:44down, I got to go faster. I got to go faster.
- 37:46What that truthfully is, I'm going to be honest, is your
- 37:49nervous system is lying to you. You have a nervous system that's
- 37:53been built off more, more, more fast, fast, fast, speed, speed,
- 37:56speed. But what really is ultimately at
- 37:59the center or the root of that is that it's lying to you.
- 38:02It's based off you knowing that you built everything with speed.
- 38:05So of course it's more speed to grow and it's not.
- 38:08So I want you to think about the fact that if you are slowing
- 38:11down in the way, I'm not saying by the way, that like
- 38:15lackadaisical kind of like, Oh yeah, like the business will
- 38:18scale itself. We're not talking not working
- 38:20hard. I want to be very clear, I'm
- 38:22talking about not being messy with speed.
- 38:25You're being intentional and strategic with speed.
- 38:29So again, slowing down a little bit to speed up, you're not
- 38:33falling behind, OK? This is not a matter of you, you
- 38:36know, slowing down and feeling like, why am I slowing down?
- 38:39Why am I slowing down? Because you're graduating in the
- 38:42model that you're using to grow your business.
- 38:44You're graduating in the approach that you need to take
- 38:47if you really want to see this business grow.
- 38:50The second reason that we do this is because you sometimes in
- 38:54the same vein, will associate that if we are patient, we are
- 38:59passive. OK.
- 39:01You believe that if you are being more patient in your
- 39:03business that you connect. That would be more passive in
- 39:07your approach. You reject patients entirely
- 39:11because you are not the kind of person who just sits around and
- 39:15waits for results and waits for outcomes, right?
- 39:17You believe so confidently that you are not the kind of person
- 39:21who's patient because you don't sit around waiting for outcomes.
- 39:24And you know what? You're probably right.
- 39:26You don't sit around waiting for outcomes.
- 39:28Patience is not waiting. Patience is not sitting on your
- 39:32hands and hoping for results to to appear.
- 39:35It's executing at a very high level while also having a deep,
- 39:41deep level of trust that those results that are going to come
- 39:45from the action are going to be a compound effect.
- 39:49One of the things that you have to know if you are scaling a
- 39:52business is that results are sometimes going to come from
- 39:55things that you're building and you can't even see them
- 39:59building. At the rate you want to.
- 40:01So like, OK, even for example, for this podcast, right?
- 40:05When someone has a podcast, one of the best pieces of advice
- 40:08that I ever was given is someone said, put your head down and
- 40:12don't look up to see a, to say, OK, it's working or it's not
- 40:15working. Don't even evaluate it.
- 40:17You can refine it. You can look at how can we try
- 40:19to make a better topic? How can we structure them
- 40:23better? How can we edit them better?
- 40:25That's fair. You can 100% make sure to look,
- 40:30to refine over time. We're not again saying sit on
- 40:32our hands and don't do anything and don't look up.
- 40:35We're saying you must be patient and allow the process to
- 40:39compound. So I can tell you with
- 40:41confidence, truthfully, with like certainty that the place my
- 40:47podcast is at today and where you are listening to Ambitious
- 40:50today is not where you're going to be 3 years from now.
- 40:53The experience will be different, the editing will be
- 40:55different, the topics will be different, the guests will be
- 40:57different, but that's because there's a compound effect that
- 41:00comes with reps. I think about the same thing
- 41:02like going to the gym. When you go to the gym and you
- 41:06have a goal of gaining muscle, you're not looking in the mirror
- 41:08everyday saying like, OK, where's the muscle?
- 41:10Where's the muscle, Where's the muscle?
- 41:12We are going to do check insurance.
- 41:14You might take a picture each week, not every day.
- 41:16You might take a start of the month and end of the month
- 41:19picture. You are going to track progress,
- 41:22but you're going to do so in a way that makes sense for the
- 41:25goal that you're not going to be looking up every 5 seconds
- 41:28saying where is it? Where's muscle?
- 41:30Because you recognize there's a compound effect that happens or
- 41:33that needs to come into effect before the muscle is going to
- 41:36present. And so speed is the thing that
- 41:40many of us get addicted to because, frankly, it's a
- 41:42dopamine hit, right? We get this huge surge of
- 41:45dopamine when we feel like there's a speed between pressing
- 41:48a button and the result that happens.
- 41:51But patience is what happens when you are really being asked
- 41:56to do the work to put in the reps and to recognize that there
- 41:59isn't going to be this immediate reward.
- 42:03And for the most successful scaling entrepreneurs, it's the
- 42:07ability for people to put in those reps when they can't see
- 42:09the instant outcome right away. When they can't see the results
- 42:13instantaneously, they still have deep rooted belief, but the
- 42:18compound effect is there. They still go to the gym, they
- 42:21still get their shoes on every day and go for that walk.
- 42:24They still put in those reps and that's because they recognize
- 42:27the compound effect needs time plus consistency of effort to
- 42:33generate that result that they desire.
- 42:35Now another thing that we see is also revenue level.
- 42:39And sometimes when you're at a certain revenue level, the
- 42:41revenue level that you're at can also be the thing that cues your
- 42:45anxiety, your kind of surge for either needing to move or
- 42:50needing to be pulled back. So when you were at the
- 42:52beginning, you had no money, you had no results, you had no
- 42:57outcomes, you had no way to say like this is working.
- 43:01So because of that, you were like, what do I have to lose?
- 43:03It's literally just about speed. I just have to integrate,
- 43:06integrate, integrate as fast as possible.
- 43:09And so at the beginning, all we're doing is integrating.
- 43:11All we're doing is speed because we have no other choice.
- 43:15We're like, we got to execute as fast as possible because we have
- 43:17no results. But then when you make even a
- 43:21couple multiple 6 figures or you even are in the bucket of A7 or
- 43:25multiple 7 figure business, you start to get into eventually
- 43:29this bucket of predictability. You get into this weird messy
- 43:35middle of I have just enough that I'm stable, but also I'm
- 43:41terrified of losing it. I see some lot of scaling
- 43:44businesses. If you are someone who's at
- 43:46multiple 6 figures, 7 or multiple 7, you have the income.
- 43:50Some people will have even 6 to 9 months, two years of cash flow
- 43:54that's stacked and dripped out. But they also have this deep
- 43:57sense of losing it all. And so there was actually a
- 44:00foundation that did a study on this and they were talking about
- 44:02the fact that 100 KA year to a million a year is actually seen
- 44:07to be the highest level of stress range within startups.
- 44:12So basically like non established massive businesses.
- 44:16And that's because this is what's considered to be like the
- 44:18messy middle where again, we have enough of that scrappiness
- 44:21there kind of making us feel like we could lose it all
- 44:23tomorrow. But on the flip side, we also
- 44:26have this proof of success and outcome that's also present for
- 44:30us and shown within results or data.
- 44:33So what happens when you're in the six figure to 7 figure
- 44:37category is that when revenue is dipping or revenue is adjusting
- 44:42or you have a down month or you have low applications or low
- 44:45clicks, you panic and so you pivot.
- 44:48And when revenue is then up on the other side, you're coasting.
- 44:55So like if anything happens with revenue, you're like quick
- 44:57speed, Oh my gosh, I pivot on the other side.
- 44:59You chill when you have revenue. And truthfully, neither of those
- 45:03is actually strategic. Both of them, if we really look
- 45:07at it, are few responses. So it's a matter of saying, OK,
- 45:11well, how can I not just be fast when things are going down and
- 45:16not just be patient if things are chill?
- 45:19How do we have again that living duality of patience and speed
- 45:23that is there in both seasons, seasons of low cash flow and
- 45:28high cash flow? Both those seasons, whether you
- 45:31are 6 or 7 figure business need to be present when you're trying
- 45:35to tackle speed and patience. They have to both exist at the
- 45:38same time, regardless of where your cash flow is at right now.
- 45:42And I think most importantly, if I could like kind of solidify in
- 45:47the sense of like where this comes from when I started to to
- 45:50really like flush this out. I think there's not enough
- 45:54categorization for most people of the difference between what
- 45:58it means to have speed of action and what it means to have speed
- 46:01of execution. OK, so moving fast, you expect
- 46:07results fast. That's misalignment.
- 46:11Just because you take action quickly does not mean that you
- 46:14have results quickly. So like your effort and your
- 46:17results are on completely different wavelengths, right?
- 46:24So like, OK, analogy would be just because you record in one
- 46:31weekend 75 videos for TikTok doesn't mean your TikTok videos
- 46:35this week are better. It doesn't mean just because
- 46:38you're like reps, reps, reps, like you're just like pushing,
- 46:41pushing, pushing. That's simply just your effort
- 46:43is the thing alone that generates the results.
- 46:46And this is again where that kind of like scrappy startup
- 46:49mindset sometimes has to retire, sometimes has to get parked.
- 46:54And that's because if we don't, what we end up finding ourselves
- 46:58falling into is that we're like, well, I've been busting my butt.
- 47:01That's why do we not have results with it.
- 47:03Effort is not the only. It is a factor in results.
- 47:07Don't get me wrong, it is a factor in getting the things
- 47:09that you want out of life, but it's not the only singular
- 47:12factor that's required for you to get the outcome you're
- 47:14looking for. So until you separate effort
- 47:19from results, meaning seeing that just simply the effort I
- 47:22put in is the only factor to getting the results I want, you
- 47:26are always going to feel a misalignment with your
- 47:29satisfaction, your business. You're always going to feel this
- 47:31disconnect with why am I not where I want to be.
- 47:36Your actions should be fast. Your results should be patient.
- 47:42OK, so I almost want you to think about these like 2 like
- 47:45picture in your mind right now, 2 clocks, OK, so 1 clock is
- 47:50going at rapid speed and the other one is going at a slower
- 47:54tick. Your actions can be fast.
- 47:56You can be pushing out those reps, right?
- 47:59So you can be really intentional about the actions that you're
- 48:02taking. But the reality is that the
- 48:05results clock, the thing that's actually moving from an outcome
- 48:08or results perspective may need or require more patience from
- 48:12you. And running both at the same
- 48:16setting of like fast, fast, fast is typically why people want to
- 48:20give up. And I see this when anyone
- 48:24executes something as a new strategy, you integrate some new
- 48:27strategy, whether it's with an e-mail list, with your social
- 48:30media, with a new offer, you integrate this thing that's new
- 48:35and you do it for such a short amount of time because again,
- 48:38you equate my, my intensity is just as important as my
- 48:43consistency. So therefore, where's my
- 48:45outcome? Meaning you just completely
- 48:48remove the impact of the compound effect and so you go,
- 48:52well, it's not working, it's not getting results, so you give up.
- 48:54Or worse, sometimes people do this and have this expectation
- 48:58for so long that they experience very high levels of burnout.
- 49:03So I want to ask you some questions, OK, for you to
- 49:05reflect on this for yourself. What have you been working on
- 49:08for the last 30 days that could be executed this week if you
- 49:13actually committed to it? Just take 30 seconds and name
- 49:17that thing. What's something you've been
- 49:19working on for the last 30 days? But if you really got
- 49:22intentional with yourself, you could probably execute this
- 49:25week. What's that thing?
- 49:27You know it off the top of your prey.
- 49:31And with this, tell yourself the truth.
- 49:33Why is it still sitting there? Why is it not out?
- 49:38Why is it not launched? Why is it not posted?
- 49:41Why is it not shared? Why is that person not hired,
- 49:44not fired? Why has it not happened?
- 49:50Second question is what did you abandon in the last six months?
- 49:55Not because it was wrong, because you felt it wasn't
- 49:59working fast enough. OK, so what's something you did
- 50:04in the last, say, 6, maybe 12 months where you let go of it?
- 50:08Not because it was wrong, but because you felt like it didn't
- 50:10happen fast enough? Now ask yourself, was it really
- 50:13not aligned or did you just simply lose patience?
- 50:19Question 3. Where are you tolerating a slow
- 50:24bleed that you already know is not working?
- 50:28You know what it is and the question I want you to ask
- 50:32yourself is why are you still allowing it?
- 50:36Strategy that you're executing the thing in your business that
- 50:39you're like, I am doing this and I fully know this offer this
- 50:42marketing channel, this strategy I'm doing.
- 50:45Sometimes truthfully, even the coach you're working with, the,
- 50:48the program that you're in, the support that you're getting in
- 50:50some regard, you're like, I literally know this isn't
- 50:53working. I've been doing this forever and
- 50:54I just feel like I'm not seeing any movement, no clarity, no
- 50:58level of momentum. Why are you still allowing it?
- 51:02Why are you still maintaining it?
- 51:05When did you last make a decision off of a short 24 hour
- 51:10or 48 hour snapshot instead of something that was 30 or 60 or
- 51:1490 days of data? Are you running a business or
- 51:20are you reacting to 1? And lastly, are you more afraid
- 51:26of being patient or are you more afraid of speed and being fast?
- 51:33Whichever one of those, whether it's patience or speed, scares
- 51:36you the most, That's typically actually where the growth for
- 51:39your business is hiding, by the way.
- 51:41So remember we talked about the two clocks.
- 51:44I want to give you something that you can do tactically with
- 51:47these clocks to help you to start to flex this muscle, OK?
- 51:50So this is really, really easy, simple three steps, but
- 51:53something that you can do mentally.
- 51:55Separate your clocks, separate the two sides of a speed list
- 52:00and a patient's list. OK, So what I want you to do is
- 52:04I want you to literally think it's all about the right energy
- 52:07and the right place. So you can literally put this
- 52:10into a Google Doc. You do it on the notes on your
- 52:11phone. And what I want you to do is I
- 52:14want you to first look at literally think about like
- 52:17dividing a paper or having two lists on this paper.
- 52:20One is speed and one is patience.
- 52:22So on your speed list, these are things that you are committing
- 52:25to with a 48 hour execution window.
- 52:30So decisions that you've been sitting on, hires that you need
- 52:33to be making, content that you need to be putting out, problems
- 52:37that you need to remove, opportunities that are just yes
- 52:41or a no, and you're done. What are those things that you
- 52:44could put on your speed list that you could easily tackle,
- 52:48handle and make happen in the next 48 hours?
- 52:52Now on the contrast, you have a patience list, which are things
- 52:56that are 90 days of minimum commitment.
- 52:59So your audience growth, your content and the way that you're
- 53:04allowing it to compound into results, a new offer and putting
- 53:08that out to the market, developing your team or training
- 53:11your team, your reputation being built, right.
- 53:16So what I want you to do is I want you to think about having a
- 53:19speed list, 48 hours, having a patience list that requires a 90
- 53:23day minimum commitment before assessing results.
- 53:27OK? What you can do is each Monday
- 53:30review these and go through and say, does this really belong on
- 53:35this list? So the things that you're
- 53:37expecting speed, speed, speed in, are they something that you
- 53:40actually can do in 48 hours that you're expecting that fast of a
- 53:43result? Or do they really potentially
- 53:47better live on the page of patients because they just do
- 53:53need more time to breathe and to allow those to grow?
- 53:56Signs that you are making progress is if you are someone
- 54:00who feels like your decision fatigue is dropping.
- 54:03You feel like you're no longer second guessing yourself.
- 54:05You feel like you know exactly what clock you're supposed to be
- 54:09focused on with a given task or a given thing that you're doing.
- 54:12You will start to feel the calm that comes with really making
- 54:16sure you are evaluating your goals and what you're working on
- 54:19in an intentional way and most importantly, what we want to do
- 54:23in Step 3. So again, step one, visualize
- 54:26your two clocks. Step 2, get your speed list and
- 54:30your patients list out onto paper and put your notes
- 54:33underneath one of those. You can really anchor in the
- 54:35results you should be expecting. And 3rd, you want to install the
- 54:4048 hour execution rule, which is really the phrase I think about
- 54:44is you decide and you move, decide and move, decide and
- 54:47move. Once you make a decision, and I
- 54:50mean any decision, you have 48 hours to take the first concrete
- 54:55action. Not think more, not research
- 54:57more, not put on a list, not do and ruminate on like what it
- 55:01could be. And maybe it's this and maybe
- 55:03it's that. I mean, take action.
- 55:04I mean take a step. I mean integrate something.
- 55:08If you've made a decision, do something about it, even if the
- 55:12decision is to not do something about it.
- 55:14Meaning say you had this idea that you were going to start a
- 55:18blog, let's just say, and you're like, well, you know, I've
- 55:21decided I'm not doing that great.
- 55:22Then remove it from the vision board.
- 55:24Remove it and put it off till Q4.
- 55:27Remove this and take an action to delete that from your list of
- 55:32priorities. Take an action that is in line
- 55:36and in accordance with the goals that you're setting for yourself
- 55:38and the decisions you're making. I'm going to give you some
- 55:40examples. Hiring Ava.
- 55:42Go post a job listing. Don't talk about the fact you
- 55:45need help. Don't ruminate on the fact you
- 55:46need help. Don't think about the fact that
- 55:48you need help. Go to Claude.
- 55:50Say I need a job listing for XYZ.
- 55:52These are the specs. It will help you to create a
- 55:54posting. Get that out in the next 48
- 55:56hours. If you are raising your prices,
- 55:59stop talking about raising your prices.
- 56:00Stop saying you. I really should increase my
- 56:03rates. I really at some point this year
- 56:05need to increase my prices. You need to stop talking about
- 56:10it. You need to stop ruminating and
- 56:12thinking on it. You need to go do it.
- 56:14You got to go do it. So one of the things you can do
- 56:16is literally, if you have a package and proposal guide, go
- 56:20and update the prices on it. Your prices are changed.
- 56:22Now when you go to your website, if you have your prices there,
- 56:26update your price on your website.
- 56:27They're updated. Now update your checkout links.
- 56:30Take a step to actively make an action to decide the thing that
- 56:35you wanted to do is actually coming to fruition.
- 56:37We're doing this also killing an offer. e-mail your e-mail list
- 56:42and say we're killing it. Put it out on social media.
- 56:45Hey guys, this offer is dead now.
- 56:47We're not doing this any longer. Here's why.
- 56:49Right? Like, take a bold stance, take
- 56:51an action towards claiming this offer is genuinely not coming
- 56:54around anymore. It's finished and launching a
- 56:58podcast. I've seen a lot of people are
- 56:59like, oh man, like I've been thinking of launching a podcast.
- 57:01I'm thinking about having a podcast.
- 57:03Go ahead, go to Amazon. This is what I did when I
- 57:05decided that I was doing a podcast.
- 57:07I was like, great, I'm going to go order the microphone and what
- 57:10I did, which is part of, you know, I've mentioned the story
- 57:12before. I had really junky set up for my
- 57:15podcast originally. It's better now.
- 57:19I went on YouTube and I literally searched.
- 57:21I, I was like, OK, I am sick and tired of myself talking about
- 57:25this podcast and thinking about this podcast.
- 57:26We're doing this thing. So I went on social media and I
- 57:31went on YouTube and I literally searched YouTube, podcast studio
- 57:37tech, Amazon and whoever was the first video that came up.
- 57:40I don't even remember who it was.
- 57:42I literally took that video underneath there like hey guys,
- 57:45I've hyperlinked all of the tech that I have.
- 57:47I'm like beautiful. I went, I added all of that to
- 57:50cart. I think at the time it was like
- 57:51probably like 1200 bucks and I added that to cart and I got it
- 57:55all delivered to my house and basically within a short amount
- 57:58of time I was recording episodes.
- 58:00It wasn't like like when I really decided to have the
- 58:04podcast because before that I was sick of thinking about it.
- 58:06I was literally in this whole like, oh, I need to like map out
- 58:09like the ideal client and like the target audience and the
- 58:13messaging. And I'm like, get real with
- 58:15yourself. You need to get a microphone and
- 58:18get talking and actually talk about what it is that you know.
- 58:21And it's not even going to be good for the 1st 20 to 50 a
- 58:25hundred episodes anyway. Put your head down, get to work
- 58:28and you can look up later and refine it then.
- 58:30And that's what we did and I'm very grateful that I did.
- 58:32So if you want to do something 321 go, what is the thing that
- 58:36you need to do? So I want to ask you a question
- 58:38right now. What is something that you know
- 58:43you need to do that you want to do that you've been talking
- 58:47about doing, that you've been thinking about integrating.
- 58:49Can you make a promise to yourself right now that you are
- 58:52going to do something in the next 48 hours to press go,
- 58:57anything, take an action toward it.
- 58:59That is what builds momentum to the business that you actually
- 59:02want for yourself. The other thing we also want to
- 59:05remember is that any decision that we make is also a two way
- 59:08door, OK, This is a swinging door.
- 59:10Anything that you do, if you're like, well, I'm scared to press
- 59:13go on this quickly or I'm scared to do as quickly.
- 59:15Everything is reversible. If you're like, hey, I updated
- 59:19my price on my website and then they weren't closing.
- 59:21So I decided that I want to reduce them by $1000.
- 59:23Go for it. Like it doesn't mean also that
- 59:26by taking some action that you are stuck in this forever.
- 59:29So they're not permanent. And truthfully, the cost of an
- 59:32action is always going to be more impactful than the person
- 59:38who is going to experience the cost of imperfect action.
- 59:43Inaction is always going to cost more than imperfect action every
- 59:50single time. Doesn't matter what it is.
- 59:52And so you don't need more time to think about everything.
- 59:55You often times need less time between what you think and what
- 59:59you're doing. And so if you are someone who is
- 1:00:02going to execute this 48 hour rule, you're going to see that
- 1:00:06the execution gap of stuff that used to take you months now will
- 1:00:09sometimes take you days because you've decided you've committed
- 1:00:11to doing it. You are going to also feel this
- 1:00:14relief in decisions. You're going to make decisions
- 1:00:16quicker and faster and integrate quickly.
- 1:00:19And you also are going to which was my biggest.
- 1:00:22I would say like clarity point is like I, I started to actually
- 1:00:27trust myself. I started to actually feel like
- 1:00:30I was someone who kept the commitments in the words that I
- 1:00:36would say to myself. Like I was like, I am keeping
- 1:00:38commitments to me. This is something that shows me
- 1:00:42not only can I trust my business, but I trust me to lead
- 1:00:45the business because if we're going to do it, we're doing it.
- 1:00:47And if we're going to be patient about it, we're going to be
- 1:00:49patient about it. And here's something I also want
- 1:00:51to add for any of you who have team, it is your responsibility
- 1:00:55to take this mindset of patience and speed and transit that to
- 1:00:58your team. Meaning if there's something
- 1:01:01that someone's doing and they're perfecting and refining and
- 1:01:04dialing it in and you're going, why are we doing this 321, go
- 1:01:06put it out right? Help your team to flex that
- 1:01:09muscle. Help your team to have
- 1:01:11permission that it doesn't need to be perfect in order to do it
- 1:01:15on the contrast, you also need to lead by example with your
- 1:01:19team and helping them to understand that certain things
- 1:01:22require patience. Anybody that helps, for example,
- 1:01:25with this podcast, I was fully, you know, clear at the
- 1:01:29beginning. I was like, guys, we're not
- 1:01:30going to be expecting to be like the Joe Rogan of our category in
- 1:01:35six months. Like that's it's not realistic.
- 1:01:38We recognize that things like a YouTube or a podcast are a plant
- 1:01:43seeds and nurture them to grow. It's not a virality hack, which
- 1:01:48means that I had to transfer to the people that work with the
- 1:01:52podcast to say, yes, we want to see momentum.
- 1:01:54Yes, we want to see growth. But there's not this pressure
- 1:01:56coming from me of like me to blow up tomorrow what's going
- 1:01:59on? And that's because I know
- 1:02:02certain parts of my business where I'm like, we need to see
- 1:02:04this happen fast. And I also have parts of my
- 1:02:07business where I recognize things require patience.
- 1:02:12So if you are someone yourself who doesn't have this clarity,
- 1:02:16do not blame your team when they are being patient on things you
- 1:02:19want speed or when they're expecting speed on things you
- 1:02:22actually kind of see needing patience.
- 1:02:25That comes down to you really setting the frame and leading
- 1:02:29from the front on where they should be evaluating what things
- 1:02:33in the sense of results or also in an aspect of execution.
- 1:02:37So today I wanted to talk about this because so many of us,
- 1:02:41including myself, you want your goals quickly, you want results
- 1:02:45fast, you want momentum, you want outcomes.
- 1:02:48You want to see this movement in the direction that you're
- 1:02:52looking for it. But the thing you want to
- 1:02:54recognize is it is this. I want you almost think like gas
- 1:02:58break, right? So we have gas break, gas break.
- 1:03:00You can't just throttle the whole time on the gas.
- 1:03:05You have to have moments of breaking or you crash on the
- 1:03:08contrast. If you're just hovering that
- 1:03:11brake and the entire time you're pressing on the brake, you're
- 1:03:15also not moving anywhere. So it's the same thing with your
- 1:03:18business. If you're all gas, that's a
- 1:03:20problem. If you're all brake, that's a
- 1:03:22problem. The most successful
- 1:03:23entrepreneurs at scale are the people who have duality of
- 1:03:26knowing when to gas break, when to push for speed in the
- 1:03:29business, and also when to be a little bit more patient in the
- 1:03:33different things they're executing and the results that
- 1:03:35they're expecting. So what I want you to do is I
- 1:03:39want you to take a piece of this, whether it is the speed
- 1:03:43bucket or the patients bucket, I want you to pick one thing.
- 1:03:46Pick one thing in each category. What's one thing that you have
- 1:03:50not been patient with that you're going to start to be
- 1:03:52patient with because you recognize that if you're honest,
- 1:03:54it requires it. And on the flip side, what is
- 1:03:57something that maybe you haven't been as fast with, you haven't
- 1:04:02been as speedy with that you really want to challenge
- 1:04:05yourself to 321-GO and press, go on in the next 48 hours, pick
- 1:04:09one of those and get to work. This is something that, again,
- 1:04:12Speaking of speed, I don't want you to think about.
- 1:04:15I don't want you to ruminate on today's topic.
- 1:04:17I don't want you to think to yourself, well, yeah, that was
- 1:04:20an interesting perspective. I want you to go and to actually
- 1:04:23start to put this in to practice within either your personal
- 1:04:27goals or also within your business.
- 1:04:29Most importantly, I want to say thank you so much for spending
- 1:04:32the last hour with me and diving into this with me.
- 1:04:35If anything lands for you, if you're feeling like you're just
- 1:04:37having a light bulb, you're kind of having this aha moment,
- 1:04:40realizing I am way too much in the speed bucket and I think
- 1:04:43it's causing me to go crazy or I feel like I'm living in the
- 1:04:46patients bucket and I'm playing small and I need to go faster.
- 1:04:50I would love for you to share what's the one that resonates
- 1:04:52with you? What's the thing that you feel
- 1:04:54like this is the muscle I want to flex.
- 1:04:56I can't tell you guys enough how much it means to have those of
- 1:04:59you who reach out in the DMS. One of the things that I often
- 1:05:01talk about that was huge for my journey is being witnessed in
- 1:05:05transformation, which basically means that you don't just have
- 1:05:08this aha moment by yourself, but you're witnessed in the aha
- 1:05:11moment and how impactful that really is to your overall
- 1:05:14growth. So if you are someone who wants
- 1:05:16to be witnessed in this clarity and know that someone else sees
- 1:05:19you and executing this, I want to invite you to just shoot me a
- 1:05:22message. Send me admi always love hearing
- 1:05:24from you, your shares, your questions, your comments, just
- 1:05:27anything that lands those aha moments and to yeah, to be able
- 1:05:31to chat about what you're loving diving into when it comes to
- 1:05:33ambitious. So my DMS are always open.
- 1:05:35I'd love to chat with you. But with all that being said,
- 1:05:37you have some work to do. So I will let you get to that
- 1:05:40and I will see you on next week's episode.
- 1:05:42And, as always, stay ambitious.
