- 0:19Speaker 2: I want to open today's podcast by reminding you of
- 0:22Speaker 2: a lawsuit that was filed a few days ago. It's
- 0:24Speaker 2: gotten a fair amount of attention. The families of two
- 0:29Speaker 2: young people who committed suicide are suing chat GPT. Chat
- 0:35Speaker 2: GPT is by far the largest search engine premise on
- 0:41Speaker 2: artificial intelligence. The individuals who committed suicide have been asking
- 0:48Speaker 2: chat gpt about suicide and suicidal thoughts. Now, as I
- 0:53Speaker 2: say it's artificial intelligence, they call these things chatbots. In
- 0:57Speaker 2: other words, it's robotic, it's based on program I'm thinking.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And the response is that chat GPT gave them, didn't
- 1:04Speaker 2: do anything to talk to them out of suicide. It
- 1:08Speaker 2: essentially validated their suicidal thoughts. We understand why you feel
- 1:14Speaker 2: like this, etc. So lawsuits are being filed here that
- 1:19Speaker 2: rather than use common sense, chat GPT showed no sense whatsoever.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I'm going somewhere with this. Chat ept is based on
- 1:32Speaker 2: automated learning, all sort of sorts of inputting what are
- 1:37Speaker 2: we saying now to all the young people in our
- 1:40Speaker 2: society who are screwed up or delusional or have bad thoughts,
- 1:45Speaker 2: instead of knocking them into reality and telling them to
- 1:48Speaker 2: stop thinking this way, all we're doing is validating artificial
- 1:54Speaker 2: intelligence only knows what it's been told. There is a
- 2:00Speaker 2: story in the news right now that I think relates
- 2:02Speaker 2: to this directly, and I haven't heard anybody make this point,
- 2:06Speaker 2: so I'm going to make it first. Have you ever
- 2:10Speaker 2: been offered an ad on option for premium or white
- 2:12Speaker 2: glove service? You Line provides only one type of service,

- 2:34Speaker 2: Line believes service is essential, not an option. Morgan Geiser
- 2:41Speaker 2: has waived extradition. She's back in Wisconsin from Illinois. I'm
- 2:49Speaker 2: guessing that a lot of you have seen the video
- 2:54Speaker 2: of her arrest in post in Illinois from the body
- 2:59Speaker 2: cameras of the police officers down there. I'm assuming you've
- 3:03Speaker 2: seen it right. Yeah, everybody's seen. This is a young
- 3:13Speaker 2: woman now twenty three, who about a decade ago, talked
- 3:21Speaker 2: a friend of hers into attempting to kill Their goal
- 3:26Speaker 2: was to kill a classmate. They're bout fourteenth time. The
- 3:32Speaker 2: idea was to kill the classmate. Less than that, actually
- 3:36Speaker 2: kill the classmate to please this slender bad somebody that
- 3:42Speaker 2: they actually thought was real, some sort of fictional hero.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Until a few months ago, Morgan Geyser has been in
- 3:53Speaker 2: a statemental facility. That's where she's been sentenced. A judge
- 3:58Speaker 2: earlier in the year ruled she's cured enough to be released.
- 4:05Speaker 2: She had been in a halfway house in Madison wearing
- 4:10Speaker 2: a GPS bracelet. We know now quite a bit about
- 4:15Speaker 2: what happened. She met somebody even more screwed up than her,
- 4:23Speaker 2: apparently at a church. The guy's name is Chad Mecca.
- 4:27Speaker 2: He's a biological male, and he's a lot older than her.
- 4:34Speaker 2: He's transitioning, or at the very least considers himself trans
- 4:42Speaker 2: She was dabbling in that herself. At one of her
- 4:45Speaker 2: quarter herings earlier in the year, she declared that she's
- 4:47Speaker 2: a male. She no longer declares that way. She's cut
- 4:49Speaker 2: her hair short, she's got a name that could be
- 4:51Speaker 2: male or female. And now she's made a friend with
- 4:55Speaker 2: a guy who's starting to identify the other way, who's
- 4:57Speaker 2: a lot older than her. According to the reports, he
- 5:04Speaker 2: was visiting her at the halfway house and would sneak
- 5:06Speaker 2: in through a window and together they must have made
- 5:11Speaker 2: this plot that she's going to bust out. She cut
- 5:15Speaker 2: off the bracelet and got to pose in Illinois, which
- 5:17Speaker 2: is a little bit south of the Chicago metro area.
- 5:21Speaker 2: They were found by police kind of laying around outside,
- 5:24Speaker 2: apparently out of money, no real plan in mind. The
- 5:32Speaker 2: body cam video is I thought it was sort of heartbreaking.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Here you have two they're just misfits. You've got this
- 5:44Speaker 2: older guy who's apparently deciding that he's going to be
- 5:47Speaker 2: a woman. He's got the goofiest hair. He's got like
- 5:49Speaker 2: short hair, but then he grows it a little bit
- 5:51Speaker 2: long and dyes it pink. And here's her. She was
- 5:58Speaker 2: screwed up, and she thought of Fittle character was real,
- 6:01Speaker 2: so real that she was taking instructions in the fictional
- 6:03Speaker 2: character to kill a friend. She then spends about a
- 6:07Speaker 2: decade in a mental institution. She gets out. She has
- 6:09Speaker 2: no friend, she has no connections, she has no anything.
- 6:12Speaker 2: She meets this guy, another odd ball. The two odd
- 6:15Speaker 2: balls bond and they make this run for it. In
- 6:18Speaker 2: the bodycam video, when the posing Illinois police encountered, they
- 6:21Speaker 2: didn't know how she was. There's just two people that
- 6:23Speaker 2: are sleeping in the backyard on the backside of a building,
- 6:29Speaker 2: and they question her and she doesn't want to give
- 6:31Speaker 2: up her identity. She doesn't want to give her up
- 6:32Speaker 2: her identity because of course there's a war dout for
- 6:34Speaker 2: her because she fled Wisconsin, so she's not giving her identity,
- 6:40Speaker 2: not giving her identity and referring to this Chad Mecca
- 6:43Speaker 2: as she and kept saying she didn't know who I was.
- 6:47Speaker 2: She didn't know who I was, She didn't know who
- 6:48Speaker 2: I was. Trying to make sure that this Chad doesn't
- 6:52Speaker 2: get in trouble for fleeing with somebody who's not supposed
- 6:56Speaker 2: to flee. My guess is he probably didn't know what
- 7:01Speaker 2: she had done. Bumped into her halfway house. She may
- 7:05Speaker 2: have come up with something and probably didn't fess up
- 7:07Speaker 2: and said, yeah, I tried to stab a friend of
- 7:10Speaker 2: mine to death. She was pretty adamant about that and
- 7:12Speaker 2: everything else was true. She eventually gave her identification. The
- 7:16Speaker 2: cops kept saying, well, I don't think you wanted for
- 7:18Speaker 2: murder or anything like that. Well, in fact, it was
- 7:21Speaker 2: almost murder. It was attempted murder. And she kept saying
- 7:24Speaker 2: I did something very bad. She didn't know, And you
- 7:28Speaker 2: see the two of them standing together, kind of like
- 7:30Speaker 2: hugging one another. My guess is that this is your
- 7:31Speaker 2: only friend of the world, and it's a fellow person
- 7:35Speaker 2: who's living outside any kind of any kind of anything
- 7:41Speaker 2: that we living outside of normal. I go back to
- 7:51Speaker 2: the chat shept responses given to the people who are suicidal?
- 7:58Speaker 2: What kind of treatment has Megan more guys are been
- 8:00Speaker 2: getting all of these years. I'll tell you what I
- 8:07Speaker 2: suspect she's been getting. It's the same message that we're
- 8:10Speaker 2: sending to all the trans people in our society. You're
- 8:13Speaker 2: perfectly fine validating every idiotic nincompoop choice that they can make,
- 8:23Speaker 2: instead of giving her tough love and telling her what's
- 8:26Speaker 2: real and what isn't and to get into the real
- 8:28Speaker 2: world and no, there's not a slender man, there's none
- 8:30Speaker 2: of this, there's none of that, and then telling her
- 8:33Speaker 2: you're a young woman you're a girl, you're a young woman.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Every odd selection and choice she was making was probably
- 8:41Speaker 2: reinforced by the shrinks that win a bago when she
- 8:44Speaker 2: was up there. She gets released, her head is almost shaved. She's,
- 8:52Speaker 2: I guess, still a girl in her own mind. I
- 8:53Speaker 2: have to think of that she's a guy and the
- 8:55Speaker 2: first person that she's a trans attracted to is a
- 8:57Speaker 2: male who's deciding that he's now a t They run off.
- 9:01Speaker 2: There's no real plan, there's no money. She just decides
- 9:04Speaker 2: that she's gonna bust out. She probably feels totally trapped
- 9:07Speaker 2: in the halfway house before the attempted slender man murder.
- 9:19Speaker 2: What guidance did she get at home? Now? I get that, okay,
- 9:23Speaker 2: my kids into unusual things, and who am I to judge?
- 9:29Speaker 2: You're raising a murderer. Has anybody at any point in
- 9:34Speaker 2: Morgan Geyser's life tried to straighten her out by redirecting
- 9:40Speaker 2: her to reality. We live in a world in which
- 9:44Speaker 2: the misfits have now validated their misfitness. There's nothing wrong.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'm okay, you're okay. Well you're not okay. You're miserably
- 9:54Speaker 2: unhappy and you're dysfunctional. I don't believe everyone in psychiatry
- 10:03Speaker 2: and counseling is a quack, but I think a lot
- 10:05Speaker 2: of them are. Some of them their own lives are
- 10:09Speaker 2: more screwed up than the people that they're treating. I
- 10:21Speaker 2: think Morgan Geyser has been victimized by bad guidance her
- 10:24Speaker 2: entire life. You heard her, I mean, I think she's
- 10:28Speaker 2: probably still dangerous because she's not tethered to any reality.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But I can't honestly say it's her own fault. When
- 10:41Speaker 2: you saw her in the video, she just seemed like
- 10:44Speaker 2: a nice, mixed up kid who finally found somebody that
- 10:47Speaker 2: she could bond with. Another misfit in society, pink hair
- 10:54Speaker 2: coming off of a crew cut, a mail hanger. We
- 11:00Speaker 2: can't live in a world in which we try to
- 11:02Speaker 2: put every round circle into a square box. But there
- 11:11Speaker 2: are certain things that people are doing that are never
- 11:13Speaker 2: going to lead to happiness, And instead of telling them
- 11:17Speaker 2: that it's okay, maybe we need to go back to
- 11:23Speaker 2: understanding that a lot of the attitudes and beliefs and
- 11:25Speaker 2: weirdnesses that people have are actual problems that they need
- 11:28Speaker 2: to be talked out of, not have reinforced. I don't
- 11:37Speaker 2: think the people at Winnebago have done. Morgan, guys are
- 11:39Speaker 2: a damn bit of good. How good they She's acting
- 11:45Speaker 2: just as weird as she did ten years ago when
- 11:47Speaker 2: she thought that slender Man wanted her to kill somebody.
- 11:50Speaker 2: How could we even say that that's her fault. Imagine
- 11:54Speaker 2: you're a kid and you know you don't fit in,
- 11:58Speaker 2: so you decide to dabble in really weird stuff and
- 12:01Speaker 2: you start believing weird things. Nobody talks you out of it,
- 12:05Speaker 2: nobody sits you down. You don't have any parents who
- 12:07Speaker 2: try to redirect you in any kind of proper way
- 12:09Speaker 2: toward right and wrong and morality and God. Then you
- 12:14Speaker 2: do something terrible and they punish you forward and you
- 12:16Speaker 2: go to a mental institution. And what did they ever
- 12:18Speaker 2: do to redirect her? We know this, there's probably not
- 12:23Speaker 2: a moment that she was exposed to any religion whatsoever.
- 12:26Speaker 2: We do know that she went to a church in
- 12:28Speaker 2: Madison when she was at the Halfway House. That's at
- 12:30Speaker 2: least good. But who does she meet this She meets
- 12:32Speaker 2: this guy, and again I don't know what kind of
- 12:34Speaker 2: a church it is. Is it one of these wicked
- 12:37Speaker 2: churches or is it a legitimate church?
- 12:40Speaker 3: It.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Everybody on the left considers us bigots if we try
- 12:46Speaker 2: to suggest that people are behaving weirdly, how are you
- 12:50Speaker 2: helping them? Telling people no, telling people not, telling people no,
- 13:02Speaker 2: don't do this to your life, and directing them toward
- 13:04Speaker 2: a path that might find actual long term fulfillment. We
- 13:07Speaker 2: don't do any of that anymore. As for this Chad Mecca,
- 13:18Speaker 2: they released him in Illinois on no charges, and it
- 13:20Speaker 2: doesn't sound to me like he did anything illegal. Did
- 13:23Speaker 2: he know that she's not alive? I mean she cut
- 13:25Speaker 2: an ankle bracelet on an electronic monitoring bracelet. Off probably
- 13:28Speaker 2: knew that. Did he know what she did? Don't know that?
- 13:30Speaker 2: Does he know the rules on her? I'm guessing she
- 13:32Speaker 2: didn't fess up to it. This looks like another just
- 13:35Speaker 2: sad case of somebody not fitting in, and instead of
- 13:39Speaker 2: being told no, you're a guy, decides that he's a woman.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Figured maybe I'll be happier as a woman because I'm
- 13:44Speaker 2: completely miserably unhappy, can't find anybody to connect with. So
- 13:47Speaker 2: he sees another sad soul to people who have nothing
- 13:50Speaker 2: going on in their lives, so they attach and they bond.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Who are we helping with all of this, I'll contend nobody.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I want to move to another story that I find related.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I've had an opinion for years, and I love this one.
- 14:14Speaker 2: You know, people like me will have these opinions based
- 14:16Speaker 2: on anecdotal eleven are quack. You don't know anything about this,
- 14:20Speaker 2: and then years later you start to see the consensus
- 14:22Speaker 2: moving around in that direction. This is a major story
- 14:25Speaker 2: that appeared earlier in the week in the Wall Street Journal.
- 14:27Speaker 2: When I say major, it goes on and on and
- 14:30Speaker 2: on and on. It's a hell of a story. The
- 14:35Speaker 2: story is reporting on what it states is overwhelming evidence
- 14:41Speaker 2: of a link between kids who are put on the
- 14:45Speaker 2: ADHD pills becoming long term drug addicts. The story reports
- 14:52Speaker 2: that young people who are prescribed ADHD medication are far
- 14:58Speaker 2: more likely to become a day did to hard narcotics
- 15:01Speaker 2: later in life for many kids. Hey, this is the headline.
- 15:08Speaker 2: For many kids. Add ADHD pills kick off a drug cascade.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Children prescribed met the medication often wind up on other
- 15:17Speaker 2: powerful drugs. Again, I'm not saying that none of these
- 15:22Speaker 2: drugs have a use. You've got these kids that have
- 15:25Speaker 2: attention deficit disorder and they put them on the riddle
- 15:28Speaker 2: in on the whole thing. But does anybody ever write
- 15:31Speaker 2: any of this, think about the long haul? How do
- 15:35Speaker 2: they get off? And given that the only normal that
- 15:39Speaker 2: they then have for the first you know, fifteen to
- 15:41Speaker 2: the first twenty years of their life, is this normal
- 15:44Speaker 2: under medication, they have to gravitate to more medication. They've
- 15:50Speaker 2: never lived a non medicated moment in their lives, maybe
- 15:54Speaker 2: from seven years old on. I've been on this repeatedly.
- 16:00Speaker 2: We're going to come to the conclusion about pot and
- 16:03Speaker 2: the same thing. There are so many cases of people
- 16:07Speaker 2: on pot becoming extremely violent. I think that there's a
- 16:11Speaker 2: link between pot and the people who want to do
- 16:13Speaker 2: trans I think the pot is so powerful that it's
- 16:16Speaker 2: make the linking pot and schizophreny is real. Again, it
- 16:19Speaker 2: doesn't mean everybody uses pot, gets said, but it is
- 16:21Speaker 2: a side effect that is there. I don't know this,
- 16:28Speaker 2: but I would not be shocked if Morgan Geyser was
- 16:30Speaker 2: popping pills before a slender Man occurred, and that they
- 16:32Speaker 2: were popping her pills right and left when she was
- 16:35Speaker 2: in the shrink house up there in Oshkosh. And again,
- 16:38Speaker 2: these pills are helpful for many people. But go back
- 16:43Speaker 2: to COVID. I kept preaching against one size fits all,
- 16:48Speaker 2: and then we know with regard to these kids, that
- 16:50Speaker 2: some of these kids sell the pills that they get
- 16:52Speaker 2: and then the dosage thing, take one a day every day,
- 16:56Speaker 2: the same amount every day. You think that that's what's
- 16:58Speaker 2: actually going on in life. These pills are dealing with
- 17:04Speaker 2: the chemicals that are affecting your brain and move jay.
- 17:08Speaker 2: What could go wrong? And again I'm not indicting them overall,
- 17:11Speaker 2: and not indicting everyone that prescribes them. But when you
- 17:17Speaker 2: take a look at the lot of the problems that
- 17:19Speaker 2: we have with the lack of motivation and the tendency
- 17:21Speaker 2: towards violence, and the level of depression, and people that
- 17:24Speaker 2: seem to have every I mean, the millennials, they thought
- 17:26Speaker 2: that they were being raised in the worst generation in
- 17:28Speaker 2: American history. Went by every measure you could imagine, it
- 17:30Speaker 2: was the best. How were they feeling so screwed up?
- 17:33Speaker 2: Is it because they were all on some kind of pill.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And now they've got a bunch of hucksters out there
- 17:40Speaker 2: telling use cannabis, use this, use that after the ADHD pills,
- 17:46Speaker 2: and then when the pot doesn't do enough, then it's
- 17:48Speaker 2: the opioids, that it's the myth. Anyway, it was like
- 17:53Speaker 2: Cranks and the Right questioning this over the years because
- 17:56Speaker 2: we were noticing, well, something's going on, what's causing it?
- 18:01Speaker 2: If I had more time in this segment and I don't,
- 18:03Speaker 2: I talk about the things that must be leading us
- 18:05Speaker 2: forward autism, I think it's all connected. My point now
- 18:12Speaker 2: is the Wall Street Journal, which is about as conventional
- 18:15Speaker 2: thinking as you can find, they're now on this story.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I hope RFK lasts in his job because I think
- 18:25Speaker 2: that he's somebody open minded enough to be willing to
- 18:29Speaker 2: explore things like this. But if you go back and
- 18:31Speaker 2: take a look at every dysfunction we have, it's the drugs,
- 18:34Speaker 2: the drugs that drugs, the drugs, and I'm not talking
- 18:37Speaker 2: crack and all of that stuff. I mean drugs that
- 18:39Speaker 2: are sold legally by big Pharma, big Farmer. You know
- 18:43Speaker 2: how much money they're making off of Riddlin and the
- 18:45Speaker 2: classes of drugs like like the Riddlin. They have every
- 18:49Speaker 2: reason dot to tell you that they're perfectly fine, no
- 18:52Speaker 2: side effects, nothing to worry about it. In the same
- 18:54Speaker 2: way that that's the message that they gave us with
- 18:55Speaker 2: regard to COVID and the same region that they talk
- 18:58Speaker 2: us off of generic drugs that don't cost much of anything.
- 19:01Speaker 2: But I get that they're the drug companies. They're in
- 19:04Speaker 2: it to make a buck. They want to tell you
- 19:05Speaker 2: that the pill that we're selling is good and this
- 19:07Speaker 2: one or this cheap one over here is no good.
- 19:10Speaker 2: The rest of us in society have no particular reason
- 19:12Speaker 2: to accept them as gospel. You have too many doctors
- 19:16Speaker 2: that are on the path of the drug companies because
- 19:18Speaker 2: of the incentives that they're giving for prescribing, and then
- 19:21Speaker 2: the people that are in the public health field easily swayed.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Every kid is mixed up. I mean, when I was
- 19:34Speaker 2: a kid, it wasn't the crappy mean things that people
- 19:37Speaker 2: post on the internet about. You know what, I think
- 19:39Speaker 2: you're probably the same thing when people when kids are
- 19:41Speaker 2: mean to one another in the sixth or seventh grade,
- 19:43Speaker 2: what were they doing and what form did that bullying
- 19:49Speaker 2: take place? You're gonna you get close to these things
- 19:55Speaker 2: and then get farther away. You're like the golfer. You're
- 19:57Speaker 2: twelve feet away from the hole, and you may the
- 20:00Speaker 2: putt and you get to four feet and now you
- 20:01Speaker 2: got to tap in but you hit it two hundred
- 20:03Speaker 2: and now it's seven feet and you just kick you
- 20:04Speaker 2: getting farther and farther away. It was no Remember the
- 20:08Speaker 2: notes that were passed in the class the notes, the notes,
- 20:11Speaker 2: the notes. You don't you didn't have that in your
- 20:12Speaker 2: school all. You don't recall that. Well, maybe that was
- 20:15Speaker 2: already open the time you were in there. The girls
- 20:17Speaker 2: had passed notes like in the fifth and sixtory notes,
- 20:21Speaker 2: this one's this it you know whoshi and you know
- 20:24Speaker 2: the notes notes, notes, because there's nothing else to communicate,
- 20:27Speaker 2: and you couldn't. Maybe by the time you were in school,
- 20:29Speaker 2: you could just out and out talk right in the classroom,
- 20:31Speaker 2: so they didn't have to pass the notes. So, I mean,
- 20:34Speaker 2: kids pressure. Every kid thinks that the thing that they're
- 20:36Speaker 2: facing is the end of the world. I mean, why
- 20:38Speaker 2: would a fifteen year old commit suicide? You got seventy
- 20:40Speaker 2: five eighty years of life in front of your things
- 20:42Speaker 2: to get better. Do you ever just think it's so worse.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I'm just glad they didn't have some pill that somebody
- 20:49Speaker 2: would have thought of to give me. Who knows. We
- 21:01Speaker 2: prescribe things without ever considering the long term ramification of
- 21:05Speaker 2: them because we don't know the long term because they're
- 21:07Speaker 2: mostly new. But if you're looking for why things that
- 21:14Speaker 2: never existed really before are so common, now, ask yourself
- 21:18Speaker 2: what changed. You will inevidently find that somebody was making
- 21:23Speaker 2: a buck off the thing that changed, and that the
- 21:25Speaker 2: media and the left was shilling for that bad thing
- 21:33Speaker 2: to this day. I don't know if the COVID vaccines
- 21:35Speaker 2: were any good or I still don't know, But if
- 21:38Speaker 2: in fifteen to seventeen years everybody's immune system is going
- 21:41Speaker 2: to be shot, I think you can cook back and say, well,
- 21:43Speaker 2: maybe we shouldn't have been messing with our immune system,
- 21:46Speaker 2: or maybe we should. But whenever anybody tries to ask
- 21:50Speaker 2: any questions, I'm sure the same thing happened when the
- 21:52Speaker 2: Riddlin and all this stuff was being prescribed right and left.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Parents were just told this is what your kid needs,
- 21:57Speaker 2: this is what your kid needs. In some cases maybe
- 21:59Speaker 2: it was, but I know dog gone well that in
- 22:01Speaker 2: many cases it wasn't. You don't know anything. Who are
- 22:08Speaker 2: you to question? You're listening to the Markdelling podcast. This
- 22:18Speaker 2: is the Mark Belling Podcast. Interesting column on the Wall
- 22:21Speaker 2: Street Journal by Jason Riley. He's dealing with the juggling
- 22:26Speaker 2: act that President Trump is trying to perform. Trump ran,
- 22:34Speaker 2: as we all know, Mega America first, now, he asked
- 22:39Speaker 2: the governor, and going back to a discussion point that
- 22:42Speaker 2: I made in the earlier segment, one size fits all.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Trump is also somebody who just prides himself on common sense,
- 22:52Speaker 2: and sometimes his common sense idea doesn't fit in with
- 22:56Speaker 2: the mega doctrinaire ideology. The point of this column deals
- 23:02Speaker 2: with the H one B visus. I want to share
- 23:07Speaker 2: a portion of it. And by the way, I agree
- 23:10Speaker 2: with Trump. I think that we need H one B
- 23:12Speaker 2: visas for specific jobs in our economy, that we do
- 23:16Speaker 2: not have enough Americans with the skills to perform them.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I disagree with the people who say that we do.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I think it's apparent that we don't. You have the
- 23:27Speaker 2: CEO of Ford come out and say that they're are
- 23:31Speaker 2: from one hundred twenty thousand dollars a year for mechanics.
- 23:33Speaker 2: By the way, people heard that and they think that
- 23:34Speaker 2: I'm talking about people who work in the audio. No,
- 23:36Speaker 2: the mechanics who work at the factory, in other words,
- 23:40Speaker 2: high skill mechanics. Of course we have a shortage of them.
- 23:49Speaker 2: But boy o boy ol boy do. We do not
- 23:51Speaker 2: have a shortage of people who majored in women's studies
- 23:54Speaker 2: in college and every other kakamaimi thing for which they're
- 24:00Speaker 2: so jobs. Here's the Jason Riley piece. He writes, it
- 24:04Speaker 2: has become unfashionable on the political right to say nice
- 24:08Speaker 2: things about foreign nationals, even the ones who came here lawfully.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Just ask Donald Trump, who has struggled to convince the
- 24:16Speaker 2: megabase that legal immigration is a net benefit to America.
- 24:21Speaker 2: To America, welcome to my world, mister President. Part of
- 24:25Speaker 2: the problem has been White House inconsistency on the issue.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Trump's position on illegal immigration isn't in doubt, but he
- 24:33Speaker 2: can seem indecisive, even self contradictory when discussing migration policies
- 24:38Speaker 2: for those who play by the rules. Last year, for example,
- 24:41Speaker 2: he sided with Elon Musk, a staunch proponent of the
- 24:44Speaker 2: H one B work visa program typically used by foreign
- 24:48Speaker 2: professionals and fields such as engineering, technology, and medicine. Musk
- 24:52Speaker 2: said he would go to war to defend migration for
- 24:56Speaker 2: skilled workers. Quote the reason I'm in America along with
- 24:59Speaker 2: so many critical people who build SpaceX, Texla, Tesla and
- 25:04Speaker 2: others or of other companies that made America strong is
- 25:08Speaker 2: because of H one B, Musk wrote in a social
- 25:10Speaker 2: media post in December. Trump soon after told The New
- 25:13Speaker 2: York Post that he too has quote always been in
- 25:15Speaker 2: favor of the program. Now it goes on. I want
- 25:18Speaker 2: to make the following point. The problem with H one
- 25:22Speaker 2: B visas is I think they're wrong in some fields
- 25:26Speaker 2: but needed in others. It's the same problem with wholesale
- 25:31Speaker 2: legal immigration. For example, when we start resettling legally so
- 25:35Speaker 2: called refugees from countries in which the people hate the
- 25:38Speaker 2: United States, I think the visa should be applied. This
- 25:43Speaker 2: is me now for people who are working in fields
- 25:46Speaker 2: in which they have a skill that we need, but
- 25:50Speaker 2: not for anybody else. So again, is legal immigration good.
- 25:55Speaker 2: It depends. Things do depend And I think that Trump
- 25:59Speaker 2: is trying to show some common sense here and say, Okay,
- 26:02Speaker 2: we need H one B visas for text, but maybe
- 26:04Speaker 2: we don't need to take in a zillion more refugees
- 26:10Speaker 2: from Somalia who want to come to the United States
- 26:12Speaker 2: and change everything that we have going on in our world.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Back to the column was the White House suggesting that
- 26:18Speaker 2: hiring practices of the president's own businesses undercut the wages
- 26:21Speaker 2: and employment opportunities of US workers, and threat in national security.
- 26:25Speaker 2: It's hard to tell. What we do know is that
- 26:27Speaker 2: since signing the order, Trump has made several statements in
- 26:30Speaker 2: support of immigrant labor. The piece goes on and then
- 26:33Speaker 2: points out that this is unsettling to some in MAGA world. Now,
- 26:38Speaker 2: the thing about MEGA is MEGA is about ninety million people,
- 26:44Speaker 2: and they have different views on all sorts of things.
- 26:47Speaker 2: All you though have to do is talk to an
- 26:49Speaker 2: employer who owns a business or as part of charge
- 26:54Speaker 2: of hiring in a business that can't find qualified workers.
- 26:57Speaker 2: At a time in which the economy seems to be slowly,
- 27:01Speaker 2: we have shortages in any number of areas for all
- 27:04Speaker 2: sorts of reasons. I'll add a point that nobody ever adds. Again,
- 27:10Speaker 2: the pot is a big part of this. Many of
- 27:14Speaker 2: the fields in which their shortages are fields the drug test,
- 27:17Speaker 2: because you can have somebody operating high tech equipment or
- 27:22Speaker 2: dangerous machinery when they're stoned. You have so many Americans,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and in so many states where they've legalized the pot,
- 27:28Speaker 2: that they've made themselves either ineligible or don't desire to
- 27:33Speaker 2: go into the fields in which they're going to be
- 27:34Speaker 2: drug tested. In the meantime, the behind the scenes of
- 27:43Speaker 2: the Trump administration following post on social media, Susie Wiles
- 27:49Speaker 2: reportedly on the hot seat is Trump's chief of staff.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Susie Wiles, who was his campaign manager, is clearly and
- 27:57Speaker 2: you saw when she was in the champaign. Susie Wiles
- 27:59Speaker 2: is the person that tried to keep Trump focused. And
- 28:02Speaker 2: I'm sure Susie Wills right now was the one that
- 28:04Speaker 2: is trying to keep all the mega types away from Trump.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I talk a lot about how Trump is his own
- 28:12Speaker 2: good cop, bad cop and dealing with others, but in
- 28:14Speaker 2: terms of his own staff, he needs a chief of
- 28:16Speaker 2: staff who's going to be the bad cop. Many people feel, however,
- 28:21Speaker 2: that Trump and I recall the same thing happened with
- 28:24Speaker 2: Reagan's a saying in the Reagan administration, Let Reagan be Reagan.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Reagan had two sets of advisors in his administration. He
- 28:31Speaker 2: had kind of the true believer, a true believer California
- 28:34Speaker 2: conservatives who came with him, and then he had the
- 28:36Speaker 2: pragmatic James Baker types who were more traditional Republicans, and
- 28:42Speaker 2: a lot of conservatives are frustrated that Reagan was wandering
- 28:44Speaker 2: off too much into the middle and into the pragmatic
- 28:47Speaker 2: because he was listening to these old school of Washington advisors.
- 28:53Speaker 2: My own opinion is the chief of staff a chief
- 28:56Speaker 2: of staff that Trump hass has to block off both sides.
- 29:00Speaker 2: You don't want him going all Washington. On the other hand,
- 29:03Speaker 2: you don't want him to go all Marjorie Taylor Green.
- 29:07Speaker 2: We still do have a country to run. I listen
- 29:11Speaker 2: to some of the things that Tucker Carlson says, and
- 29:12Speaker 2: I think that he's lost his marbles. Trump spending too
- 29:15Speaker 2: much time on foreign policy. What he's supposed to let
- 29:19Speaker 2: the world go to hell. There's no reason why you
- 29:21Speaker 2: can't do both. What We're not better off if there's
- 29:25Speaker 2: a peace deal in the Middle East, we're not better off.
- 29:27Speaker 2: If he can finally bring peace to Ukraine and Russia,
- 29:30Speaker 2: of course we're better off. And it certainly affects us.
- 29:33Speaker 2: A world going to hell affects us badly. So you've
- 29:42Speaker 2: got Trump in here, who I think is just hell
- 29:45Speaker 2: bent on being a successful president, and he realizes that
- 29:51Speaker 2: some things you can't always be stridently ideological on because
- 29:54Speaker 2: as I said earlier, it does depend We have tens
- 30:01Speaker 2: of millions of Americans who know how to play computer
- 30:03Speaker 2: video games that don't have a clue as to how
- 30:05Speaker 2: to do software coding. The shortages in that field are incredible.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Walk past one of the big downtown Milwaukee higher office
- 30:15Speaker 2: high rises. You know who works on the hi rise?
- 30:16Speaker 2: To the tech people?
- 30:17Speaker 3: Do?
- 30:19Speaker 2: I mean? I live near Northwestern Mutual. You can't tell
- 30:25Speaker 2: everybody's ethnicity from them walking down the street, but it
- 30:27Speaker 2: surely looks like a lot of people from India are there.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Why are they hiring people from India? Who else is
- 30:33Speaker 2: going to do all of these jobs? All the people
- 30:38Speaker 2: that have three hundred thousand dollars in student loan debt
- 30:41Speaker 2: while they're running around with their English literature major, they're
- 30:45Speaker 2: social work majors? Or are they just flunked out and
- 30:49Speaker 2: they're not trained at anything. Let me turn my attention
- 30:58Speaker 2: to the Democratic lawmakers that are encouraging American troops to
- 31:04Speaker 2: disobey illegal orders. The FBI is now beginning a criminal
- 31:09Speaker 2: investigation into this couple of things with regard to this story.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I know what they're up to the Left is trying
- 31:18Speaker 2: to sow chaos in this country. You can't have the
- 31:22Speaker 2: military not follow the order of the president. You can't
- 31:24Speaker 2: have the military not follow any orders. There is a
- 31:28Speaker 2: law in this country, or at least a standard, that
- 31:32Speaker 2: the troops are not to follow illegal orders. This is
- 31:36Speaker 2: tested during the Mayli massacre and other things. What illegal
- 31:41Speaker 2: orders did the six Democrats refer to? They didn't say.
- 31:50Speaker 2: The reason they didn't say is Trump hasn't issued any
- 31:53Speaker 2: illegal orders. Unless the Supreme Court rules that something can't
- 31:59Speaker 2: be done, the order is perceived to be legal. Some
- 32:05Speaker 2: interesting comments extended threads on social media from Pete Heg Sith,
- 32:10Speaker 2: the Secretary of Defense. Get that here first, it's in
- 32:21Speaker 2: the Department of War, of course, Haig Sith is the Secretary.
- 32:24Speaker 2: The Department of War has received serious allegations of misconducting
- 32:27Speaker 2: against Captain Mark Kelly. Kelly is the Senator from Arizona.
- 32:30Speaker 2: But he's a retired naval officer. By the way, retire
- 32:34Speaker 2: doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, as they'll
- 32:36Speaker 2: point out, in accordance with the Uniform Code of Military
- 32:40Speaker 2: Justice and then it mentions the Codecitation number and other
- 32:44Speaker 2: applicable regulations. A thorough review of these allegations has been
- 32:48Speaker 2: initiated to determine further actions which may include recall to
- 32:52Speaker 2: active duty for court martial proceedings or administrative measures. This
- 32:57Speaker 2: matter will be handled in compliance with my military law,
- 33:00Speaker 2: insuring due process and impartiality. Further official comments will be
- 33:06Speaker 2: limited to preserve the integrity of the proceedings. Then from
- 33:14Speaker 2: Hegsas the video made by the seditious Sex was despicable, reckless,
- 33:19Speaker 2: and false. Encouraging our warriors to ignore the orders of
- 33:23Speaker 2: their commanders undermines every aspect of good order and discipline.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Their foolish screen shows doubt and confusion, which only puts
- 33:32Speaker 2: our warriors in danger. Five of the six individuals in
- 33:36Speaker 2: that video do not fall under the Department of War jurisdiction. Kelly,
- 33:41Speaker 2: of course does as announced. The Department is reviewing his
- 33:45Speaker 2: statements and actions, which were addressed directly to all troops
- 33:50Speaker 2: while explicitly using his rank and service affiliation, lending the
- 33:54Speaker 2: appearance of authority to his words. Kelly's conduct brings this
- 33:58Speaker 2: credit upon the armed forces and will be addressed appropriately.
- 34:03Speaker 2: And then a day later from Hesith the despicable video
- 34:13Speaker 2: ordering telling troops to refuse illegal orders may seem harmless
- 34:18Speaker 2: to civilians, but it carries a different weight inside the military.
- 34:23Speaker 2: This was a politically motivated influence operation. It never named
- 34:29Speaker 2: a specific illegal order. It created ambiguity rather than clarity.
- 34:35Speaker 2: It used carefully scripted, legal sounding language. It subtly reformed
- 34:40Speaker 2: military obedience around partisan distrust instead of established legal processes.
- 34:47Speaker 2: In the military. Vague rhetoric and ambiguity undermines trust, creates
- 34:52Speaker 2: hesitation in the chain of command, and erodes cohesion. The
- 34:56Speaker 2: military already has clear procedures for handling unlawful orders. It
- 35:01Speaker 2: does not need political actors injecting doubt into an already
- 35:05Speaker 2: clear chain of command. As veterans of various sorts, the
- 35:09Speaker 2: seditious six knew exactly what they were doing, so in
- 35:13Speaker 2: doubt through a politically motivated influence operation. I want you
- 35:19Speaker 2: to imagine for a moment during the eight years of
- 35:23Speaker 2: Obama in which all sorts of controversial foreign policy actions
- 35:30Speaker 2: were taken. Can you imagine if people on the right
- 35:36Speaker 2: urged individuals in the military to disobey orders, you would
- 35:44Speaker 2: never have heard the end of it. Everybody knows that
- 35:53Speaker 2: Trump is the commander in chief, and everybody knows that
- 35:55Speaker 2: the commander in chief has broad discretion in the use
- 35:58Speaker 2: of the American milistic in the what the left has
- 36:02Speaker 2: never accepted is Trump's legitimacy. By now taking this to
- 36:07Speaker 2: the military, they have the potential of upsetting the entire
- 36:11Speaker 2: apple cart. If the military doesn't have chain of command
- 36:14Speaker 2: where you have to do what you're told, we don't
- 36:16Speaker 2: have a military. Can you imagine on D Day if
- 36:22Speaker 2: people have the notion that you can question orders. One
- 36:30Speaker 2: other point that I want to make, there's this constant
- 36:32Speaker 2: from the left changing of the subject or the things
- 36:34Speaker 2: that they go after Trump on, in part because nothing
- 36:37Speaker 2: ever sticks. It's this, then it's that, then it's the
- 36:40Speaker 2: other thing, and then it's off to this, and now
- 36:41Speaker 2: we're going to go after the military and tell them
- 36:43Speaker 2: to disobey orders. It doesn't stop, but it has the
- 36:48Speaker 2: cumulative effect of creating unnecessary chaos. None of it is
- 36:54Speaker 2: aimed at addressing actual problems. In the meantime, the actual,
- 37:00Speaker 2: most grotesque disobedience of orders is when Joe Biden's administration
- 37:05Speaker 2: for four years refused to enforce the law and allowed
- 37:08Speaker 2: individuals by the millions to come into the country illegally.
- 37:13Speaker 2: That was the mass ignoring of orders at ignoring of
- 37:16Speaker 2: the law, and that was done by Democrats who continue
- 37:22Speaker 2: to argue that Biden had the discretion to do whatever
- 37:24Speaker 2: it is that he wanted, and that's an instance in
- 37:27Speaker 2: which we clearly know what the law was. You can't
- 37:29Speaker 2: come into the United States illegally, and they allowed people
- 37:33Speaker 2: and mass to do it. Best case scenario, they told
- 37:36Speaker 2: him to show up for hearing that would be scheduled
- 37:38Speaker 2: ninety seven years from now. I know it's only Wednesday
- 37:48Speaker 2: that they were releasing the podcast, but the football weekend
- 37:51Speaker 2: starts early, so we're going to do our weekly football
- 37:53Speaker 2: preview and points spread picks next on the Markedelling podcast.
- 37:59Speaker 2: This is the podcast. We're doing our weekly football preview
- 38:03Speaker 2: and points spread picks a little bit earlier in the
- 38:05Speaker 2: midwek podcast because of the Thanksgiving week. The Packers play
- 38:08Speaker 2: on Thanksgiving Day and so on. I'm joined by Mike
- 38:11Speaker 2: marlettef American Sports Analysts in Madison asawins dot com. Normally
- 38:17Speaker 2: you'll tell me it's too early in the week to
- 38:19Speaker 2: know what's going on, but with Thanksgiving week and three
- 38:21Speaker 2: NFL games tomorrow, maybe you do have a handle on
- 38:24Speaker 2: what's going on with ASA. Is there anything you'd like
- 38:26Speaker 2: to share with the audience, Yeah.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Well I will Mark. They can go to our website
- 38:30Speaker 3: ASA wins dot com and we have a special to
- 38:33Speaker 3: our listeners to this weekend if they want to get
- 38:36Speaker 3: all of our plays are Thanksgiving weekend Thursday through Monday,
- 38:40Speaker 3: all college in NFL normally seventy five bucks, but if
- 38:43Speaker 3: they go online and use the coupon code TKY twenty
- 38:48Speaker 3: for Turkey, TKY two zero for Turkey, they can knock
- 38:52Speaker 3: that twenty percent off, get it down to sixty bucks.
- 38:54Speaker 3: That's everything for the weekend, including the possibility of our
- 38:58Speaker 3: college Game of the Year on Saturday.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Okay, wow, And I want to applaud you for not
- 39:03Speaker 2: putting the words black Friday into this deal. I mean,
- 39:06Speaker 2: I swear everything the whole month has been Black Friday,
- 39:09Speaker 2: Black Friday, Black Friday. I'm sick of Black Friday. And
- 39:11Speaker 2: we're not even at Black Friday. All right, ASA wins
- 39:15Speaker 2: dot com. TKY two oh is the discou insight that
- 39:18Speaker 2: you can put in forget twenty percent off. Let's preview
- 39:21Speaker 2: some first of all college football for this weekend. Let's
- 39:24Speaker 2: start with Minnesota and Wisconsin, which has suddenly become a
- 39:27Speaker 2: really interesting game. The Badgers have turned their season around.
- 39:33Speaker 2: They've now beaten two ranked teams in the last three weeks.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Their defense is as good as any in the country.
- 39:40Speaker 2: The fans have now made it a habit of running
- 39:42Speaker 2: the field. I guess that's what happens when you start
- 39:44Speaker 2: so terrible. At the beginning of the year. They play Minnesota,
- 39:49Speaker 2: which is a traditional rivalry game. They play for the axe,
- 39:52Speaker 2: you know, Wisconsin and one that acts a zillion years
- 39:54Speaker 2: in a row. Minnesota has had it for two seasons
- 39:58Speaker 2: in a row. Luke Fickel has never When I watched
- 40:02Speaker 2: the end of the Wisconsin Illinois game, a game in
- 40:04Speaker 2: which Wisconsin just dominated Illinois defensively and played well enough
- 40:09Speaker 2: on offense, I just thought, let down, they're going to
- 40:11Speaker 2: phone it in against Minnesota. But Wisconsin does have something
- 40:16Speaker 2: to play for here, given you know that that ax
- 40:19Speaker 2: is a big thing, they do seem emotionally have turned
- 40:22Speaker 2: the corner. But Minnesota is a pretty good team. Give
- 40:25Speaker 2: you give me your thoughts on this game.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Yeah, this is an interesting matchup. First of all, like
- 40:30Speaker 3: you said, Minnesota's won as of recent They've won three
- 40:34Speaker 3: or the last four years. Prior to that, Wisconsin had
- 40:36Speaker 3: won sixteen of the previous seventeen years, so they had
- 40:39Speaker 3: dominated for well.
- 40:40Speaker 2: I had said that they can just keep the ax
- 40:42Speaker 2: in Madison, but that's finally turned around a bit.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and even in Minnesota. Wisconsin's won nine in the
- 40:48Speaker 3: last ten meetings in Minnesota, so they've even been successful
- 40:52Speaker 3: in Minnesota. Lowest total on the board in college football
- 40:55Speaker 3: this week thirty seven and a half LSU. Oklahoma's close again.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Two really good defenses, too bad offenses. Basically, in this situation,
- 41:04Speaker 3: I really wish for Wisconsin's sake this game was being
- 41:08Speaker 3: played in Madison, because Minnesota's got one of the most
- 41:11Speaker 3: drastic home road dichotomies in the country. They're six and
- 41:14Speaker 3: zero at home. They've won by an average of eight
- 41:16Speaker 3: points per game at home. They're zero to four on
- 41:19Speaker 3: the road and lost man average of twenty five points
- 41:21Speaker 3: per game on the road. They're just a bad road team.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Interesting thing in this game, Mark the line opened three
- 41:27Speaker 3: two and a half Minnesota and it got knocked down
- 41:29Speaker 3: to one and a half. So the money coming in
- 41:31Speaker 3: on Wisconsin in this game, and there's an outside outside chance.
- 41:35Speaker 3: So Wisconsin wins this game, they could go to a
- 41:38Speaker 3: bowl game. I don't think it's gonna happen, but they
- 41:40Speaker 3: they go down to five and seventeams. If there's not
- 41:43Speaker 3: enough six.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Yeah, if they're not enough six and six, they grab
- 41:45Speaker 2: five and seven teams in Wisconsin, ending strong could get
- 41:48Speaker 2: one of them. End. You know, those lesser bawls become
- 41:52Speaker 2: so goofed up because guys go into the transfer portal
- 41:54Speaker 2: and you don't know who's gonna play, and half the
- 41:56Speaker 2: coaches are gone. But Luke Fikel did say, if we're
- 41:59Speaker 2: invited to, we're gonna go. We're never going to turn
- 42:01Speaker 2: out a chance to play a game. I think it's unlikely.
- 42:04Speaker 2: But more important than that is if they can win
- 42:08Speaker 2: the season by beating Minnesota. You can't say that it's
- 42:11Speaker 2: a successful season, but you can certainly say that the
- 42:15Speaker 2: second half of the season ended on a major upnoe.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I think Wisconsin turned the season around in a loss
- 42:20Speaker 2: when they went to Oregon and held Oregon to twenty
- 42:24Speaker 2: eight points twenty one for most of the game. I
- 42:26Speaker 2: thought that that was the turnaround for their season and
- 42:29Speaker 2: the game against Illinois. Illinois has a really good offense
- 42:32Speaker 2: and a good quarterback and they were just overwhelmed by
- 42:36Speaker 2: Wisconsin's defense, including you know, a senior lineman Peterson, who
- 42:40Speaker 2: had not shown much all season was just dominant. They
- 42:44Speaker 2: got one of their linebackers back to other linebackers real quickly.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Have you heard whether or not Mason Posea, the superstar
- 42:49Speaker 2: freshman linebacker, will play. He got knocked out at the
- 42:52Speaker 2: end of the Illinois game. He's a really important key
- 42:55Speaker 2: to Wisconsin.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Yeah, no, they don't know. As as of earlier today,
- 42:59Speaker 3: it's still questionable. I might be a game time thing,
- 43:02Speaker 3: So as of now, I don't know, but there is
- 43:04Speaker 3: a chance he's gonna play.
- 43:05Speaker 2: In that game. Now, let's turn our attention to Ohio
- 43:08Speaker 2: State Michigan. This is another game that's about as interesting
- 43:12Speaker 2: as it gets. Ohio State is either the best or
- 43:15Speaker 2: the second best team in the country. Indiana's right up there.
- 43:19Speaker 2: I guess with them. Ohio State won the national championship
- 43:23Speaker 2: last year. They have killed everybody they played. I think
- 43:26Speaker 2: their closest game was Week one against Texas and that
- 43:28Speaker 2: was fourteen to seven, but that was a dominant fourteen
- 43:32Speaker 2: to seven. They've slaughtered everybody. Michigan this year does not
- 43:36Speaker 2: have much of an offense at all, decent defense, but
- 43:39Speaker 2: you have this Michigan. Since Ryan Day has been the
- 43:42Speaker 2: coach of Ohio State, Michigan has Ohio State's number. Last year,
- 43:46Speaker 2: when Ohio State won the National championship, they lost at
- 43:51Speaker 2: home to Michigan, and the Ohio State I swear they
- 43:54Speaker 2: still wanted to fire Ryan Day even though they won
- 43:56Speaker 2: a national championship. I mean, it's just the most bizizre
- 44:00Speaker 2: thing in a weirdo fact with these Ohio State fans
- 44:03Speaker 2: that they seem to care more about winning this game
- 44:07Speaker 2: and whether or not they won a national championship. Ohio
- 44:10Speaker 2: State's favorite in the game by ten points because they're
- 44:12Speaker 2: way better, but it's at Michigan, and Ohio State has
- 44:15Speaker 2: had a just incredibly difficult time beating Michigan even when
- 44:19Speaker 2: they're better. But you know that's the past, and part
- 44:23Speaker 2: of me thinks that becomes the motivation is really on
- 44:26Speaker 2: the side of Ohio State. I mean, they've been thinking
- 44:29Speaker 2: about this game for a clear year after what happened
- 44:33Speaker 2: last year. They're the way better team. Part of me
- 44:36Speaker 2: thinks that they could go into Michigan and get this
- 44:38Speaker 2: monkey off their back and really smoke them and hit
- 44:41Speaker 2: into the game next week with against Indiana. What do
- 44:44Speaker 2: you think.
- 44:45Speaker 3: There's a couple things on this game. First of all,
- 44:47Speaker 3: like you mentioned Michigan's won four games in a row
- 44:49Speaker 3: against Ohio State, and they've outscored Ohio State by forty
- 44:53Speaker 3: six points in those four games. Yet they've been an
- 44:56Speaker 3: underdog in three of those four games, so they've really
- 44:59Speaker 3: Last year they were eighteen point underdog and won the
- 45:01Speaker 3: game and mission and Ohio State was playing to the
- 45:04Speaker 3: Big Ten championship game. The one thing that worries me
- 45:07Speaker 3: a little bit about Ohio State you mentioned it, They've
- 45:10Speaker 3: had zero adversity this year in the Big Ten. They've
- 45:12Speaker 3: won every game by eighteen points or more. What happens
- 45:14Speaker 3: if this game's a seven point three point game in
- 45:17Speaker 3: the fourth quarter. They haven't had any of that this year.
- 45:19Speaker 3: None of it. Might get a little tight in that situation.
- 45:22Speaker 3: They played an easy Big Ten schedule. The last four
- 45:25Speaker 3: teams mark are seven and twenty five combined in the
- 45:28Speaker 3: Big Ten. There are three good wins in the Big
- 45:31Speaker 3: Ten were Illinois, who's not very good, Minnesota who's not
- 45:34Speaker 3: very good, in Washington, so they haven't played a great
- 45:37Speaker 3: situation as far as the Big Ten goes. Another thing here,
- 45:41Speaker 3: if we want to just quickly look at the Big
- 45:43Speaker 3: Ten championship scenarios, same situation last year Ohio Ohio State's
- 45:48Speaker 3: in the playoffs. If they lose this game, it doesn't matter.
- 45:50Speaker 3: I'm not saying they wouldn't want to win this game,
- 45:52Speaker 3: but they're in no matter what. Then they don't have
- 45:54Speaker 3: to play in the Big Ten Championship game. That happened
- 45:57Speaker 3: last year and they went on to win the national championship.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Michigan's only chance to be in the playoffs is to
- 46:02Speaker 3: win this game, and then they probably got to win
- 46:04Speaker 3: the Big Ten ship.
- 46:05Speaker 2: If Ohio State loses, they missed the tiebreaker and they're
- 46:08Speaker 2: not in the title game. Correct or Nope, So it
- 46:11Speaker 2: would be Indiana versus Oregon.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Maybe it would be so if Ohio State loses and
- 46:18Speaker 3: Oregon wins, it would be Indiana Oregon. If Ohio State
- 46:21Speaker 3: loses and Washington beats Oregon, then it's Michigan Indiana in
- 46:25Speaker 3: the champions So Michigan's still has a chance to make
- 46:28Speaker 3: the Big Ten Championship and they have to win this
- 46:31Speaker 3: game to have a chance at the playoffs. Great game.
- 46:33Speaker 3: The line actually dropped. It opened eleven eleven and a
- 46:35Speaker 3: half down to ten, So they've had some money coming
- 46:38Speaker 3: in on Michigan, probably just because of what's happened in
- 46:41Speaker 3: the last four seasons.
- 46:42Speaker 2: I want to turn my attention to another thing that's
- 46:44Speaker 2: going on. First of all, the college football calendar is
- 46:49Speaker 2: all screwed up. Sports. You college sports aren't now pro sports,
- 46:53Speaker 2: but in other sports, free agency begins, coaching changes occur
- 46:57Speaker 2: at the end of the season. In baseball, you can't
- 47:01Speaker 2: sign a team's free agent until after the World Series
- 47:04Speaker 2: is over. But in football, the transfer portal opens before
- 47:07Speaker 2: the playoff games and before the ball games are played.
- 47:10Speaker 2: And with so many teams firing coaches, there are no
- 47:12Speaker 2: coaches that are jumping to other jobs before the season
- 47:16Speaker 2: is over. The most bizarre case of all is Mississippi.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Mississippi is almost certainly going to be in the college
- 47:25Speaker 2: football playoffs. They play their art rival Mississippi State this weekend.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Their coach, Lane Kiffen is apparently going to quit before
- 47:34Speaker 2: they play a playoff game. He's rumored to be up
- 47:37Speaker 2: for the LSU job, the Florida job, He's openly courting
- 47:41Speaker 2: all of these other schools. The school itself has said,
- 47:43Speaker 2: we'll make an announcement after this game. I think Mississippi
- 47:46Speaker 2: is fed up with it and would just as soon
- 47:48Speaker 2: get him out of there. It's just unheard of that
- 47:50Speaker 2: a coach would leave. Well, they're still alive for a
- 47:54Speaker 2: national championship. What do you make of all of this?
- 47:58Speaker 3: That's crazy situation. First, first of all, that the NCAA
- 48:03Speaker 3: did a little bit to change the transfer so the
- 48:06Speaker 3: transfer portal doesn't officially open un till January second this year.
- 48:09Speaker 2: But the transfer portal say, yeah, it's.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Been going on during the season. I mean, that's that's
- 48:17Speaker 3: the way it is. But yeah, interesting situation. Egg Bowl,
- 48:21Speaker 3: huge game. Mississippi State would like nothing better to beat
- 48:24Speaker 3: Ole Miss and Mississippi State if they win, they go
- 48:27Speaker 3: to a bowl game. If they lose and they don't,
- 48:29Speaker 3: so that's a huge game for Mississippi State Ole Miss
- 48:32Speaker 3: with distractions. I mean, if you look at the odds
- 48:35Speaker 3: in Vegas right now, the chances of him coming back
- 48:39Speaker 3: to Ole Miss aren't good. They're six to one. He's
- 48:42Speaker 3: a favorite minus two hundred, which means you'd have to
- 48:45Speaker 3: lay two hundred to win one hundred if you bet
- 48:47Speaker 3: on him being the next LSU head coach. So there's
- 48:50Speaker 3: a good chance he'll be the LSU head coach and
- 48:52Speaker 3: leave before the chance before the playoffs, which is like
- 48:57Speaker 3: you said, it's unheard of.
- 48:57Speaker 2: I don't even know capable of higher a coach that
- 49:00Speaker 2: isn't a drama queen. I mean, you had Brian Kelly,
- 49:05Speaker 2: you had ed Ojeron, who's half nuts. Before you had that,
- 49:08Speaker 2: you had less miles, And now they're going to go
- 49:11Speaker 2: to Lane Kiffen, who he could just as easily go
- 49:14Speaker 2: jump to another. I mean, when people start griping at
- 49:18Speaker 2: college players for hitting the transfer portal and not showing loyalty,
- 49:22Speaker 2: give me a break. You have coaches that are willing
- 49:24Speaker 2: to walk out on their team in the middle of
- 49:27Speaker 2: a season when they're chasing a national championship. I mean,
- 49:30Speaker 2: and if Kiffen does take the job at LSU, there's
- 49:33Speaker 2: no way he's going to stick around and coach Mississippi
- 49:36Speaker 2: for five weeks. I mean, Mississippi needs for recruit It's
- 49:39Speaker 2: just a mess, And I don't know. The problem in
- 49:43Speaker 2: college boards is it's not a league like the NFL
- 49:46Speaker 2: or Major League Baseball. The NCAA only has limited rulemaking powers,
- 49:50Speaker 2: and these schools can do pretty much what they want,
- 49:53Speaker 2: and they're all in competition with one another and total mess.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Let's turt our attention to the NFL. I think the
- 50:00Speaker 2: most interesting game of the weekend is the very very
- 50:03Speaker 2: first game, the early Thanksgiving game, in which the Packers
- 50:06Speaker 2: play the Lions. It's in Detroit, it's on a short week,
- 50:10Speaker 2: but the Packers come into the game off of one
- 50:13Speaker 2: of their most impressive wins of the season. The Lions
- 50:16Speaker 2: come into the game off of a very unimpressive win
- 50:20Speaker 2: over the Giants, a game that they may well have lost.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Detroit's record on these Thanksgiving games, I think over the years,
- 50:27Speaker 2: is it all that good Packers won earlier in the season.
- 50:32Speaker 2: What do you I don't know what to think about
- 50:34Speaker 2: the Packers and the Lions. I think the Lions are
- 50:36Speaker 2: a slight favorite, which makes sense to me, even I'm
- 50:39Speaker 2: not sure. What do you think?
- 50:40Speaker 3: Yeah, the line opened three and dropped off the key
- 50:44Speaker 3: number to two and a half. The Lions are faired
- 50:45Speaker 3: by two and a half. Right now, Let's face it,
- 50:48Speaker 3: neither team's playing great. I mean they're both two and
- 50:50Speaker 3: two of their last four games. Green Bay beat the
- 50:52Speaker 3: Giants in Minnesota during that stretch. Detroit's two and two
- 50:56Speaker 3: of their last four games. They lost to Minnesota at home.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Should have lost last weekend home to the Giants, so
- 51:02Speaker 3: they're not playing that well either. You mentioned Minnesota on Thanksgiving.
- 51:06Speaker 3: I think a lot of people just think they're good
- 51:08Speaker 3: on Thanksgiving. Detroita thanks one, yeah, oh sorry, you try.
- 51:11Speaker 3: And Thanksgiving they're one and seven the last eight years
- 51:14Speaker 3: on Thanksgiving, and if you go back twenty years, they're
- 51:17Speaker 3: five and fifteen on Thanksgiving.
- 51:19Speaker 2: It's so colored intuit if you think a short week
- 51:21Speaker 2: in the early game that having that home field would
- 51:24Speaker 2: be an advantage. Though some of those years Detroit wasn't
- 51:26Speaker 2: any good, but in recent years they've been very good,
- 51:29Speaker 2: and they lose that game all the time. And the
- 51:33Speaker 2: Packers have won that game a few times over the years,
- 51:35Speaker 2: they've lost it. They've played Detroit of this game many
- 51:38Speaker 2: times down through the years. Famously, I think it was
- 51:42Speaker 2: in nineteen sixty two the only loss the Packers had
- 51:44Speaker 2: the entire season was on Thanksgiving Day to the Lions.
- 51:48Speaker 2: That was probably Vince Lombardi's best team. Brings back some
- 51:51Speaker 2: history in the game. So I think it's toss up.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Is that where you're you're coming down?
- 51:57Speaker 3: Yeah? The line came out three, which is basically say
- 52:00Speaker 3: both teams are even and they get a three point advantage.
- 52:02Speaker 1: At home.
- 52:03Speaker 3: That's what I think. I think that's where it is.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I'd probably favor Detroit a little bit at two and
- 52:07Speaker 3: a half, but they're just not playing that well. The
- 52:09Speaker 3: situation favors Detroit if green Bay this is there. It's
- 52:13Speaker 3: a short week on the road. This is green Bay's
- 52:16Speaker 3: fourth game in seventeen days, so basically a game every
- 52:19Speaker 3: four days, whereas Detroit's fourth game in twenty two days
- 52:22Speaker 3: and they're at home. I'd lean Detroit, but it's probably
- 52:25Speaker 3: a game we're not going to use. I don't think
- 52:27Speaker 3: Detroit's playing that well right now, so we'll probably lay
- 52:29Speaker 3: off it.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Bears and the Eagles, that's the other game I want
- 52:32Speaker 2: to talk about. Two really interesting teams. The Eagles some
- 52:39Speaker 2: weeks look really really really good other weeks not the Bears.
- 52:44Speaker 2: I don't know if everybody's aware of this, but this
- 52:46Speaker 2: blows my mind. The Bears are eight and three, but
- 52:49Speaker 2: they've been outscored on the season. That is almost impossible.
- 52:54Speaker 2: That means they've lost the three games that they've lost
- 52:57Speaker 2: by more combined than the total win margin in the
- 53:01Speaker 2: eight games that they've won. They you know, they did
- 53:05Speaker 2: it again last week. They beat Pittsburgh in a close game.
- 53:08Speaker 2: They would all these close games they come from behind.
- 53:10Speaker 2: They now have to go on the road playing the
- 53:13Speaker 2: Eagles in an important game for Philadelphia. Philadelphia's defense has
- 53:18Speaker 2: been very good, the offense has been inconsistent. The Eagles
- 53:23Speaker 2: are favored by a lot of points. Given that the
- 53:25Speaker 2: Bears have the better record of the game. I think
- 53:28Speaker 2: almost everybody thinks this is the week that the Bears
- 53:30Speaker 2: get smoked.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Do you well, it's an interesting situation. Well, you mentioned
- 53:35Speaker 3: the Bears. They have a negative point differential and a
- 53:37Speaker 3: negative yards per play differential and they're the number three
- 53:40Speaker 3: seed right now in the NFC.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Paul says that they're both eight and three. I thought
- 53:44Speaker 2: that Philadelphia had was one last poor.
- 53:46Speaker 3: But they have the same record anyway, eight and three,
- 53:49Speaker 3: and Philadelphia is the number two seed and they're getting
- 53:51Speaker 3: out gained of the season. Only have a thirty point
- 53:54Speaker 3: plus thirty point point differential. That's eleventh in the NFL.
- 53:57Speaker 3: So both teams are kind of weird in that situation.
- 54:01Speaker 3: The Eagles are, you know, that's a scary game for
- 54:03Speaker 3: the Bear. The Eagles were up twenty one to zip
- 54:05Speaker 3: last week on the Cowboys and lost, so that's a
- 54:08Speaker 3: this is a big game for them. Bears finally won
- 54:11Speaker 3: a game where they weren't dominant turnover margin. It was
- 54:14Speaker 3: an even turnover margin last week against the Steelers, and
- 54:16Speaker 3: they won.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Finally.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Here's what the odds makers think of these teams. Mark
- 54:21Speaker 3: First of all, Chicago's eight and three. They've been an
- 54:24Speaker 3: underdog in seven of their eleven games this season, and
- 54:27Speaker 3: they're eight and three. They've never been favored by more
- 54:30Speaker 3: than four and a half points the entire season. The
- 54:32Speaker 3: Eagles are also eight and three, and they've been a
- 54:34Speaker 3: favorite in every game except Green Bay. So the odds
- 54:37Speaker 3: makers obviously think the Eagles are much better, which is
- 54:40Speaker 3: why the line's seven in this game. If you look
- 54:42Speaker 3: at the playoff picture right now again, Eagles are two
- 54:45Speaker 3: in the NFC, Bears are three. Whoever wins this game
- 54:48Speaker 3: is number two and the losers number three. If it
- 54:51Speaker 3: ended right now today, the Packers would go to Chicago
- 54:55Speaker 3: in the first round of the playoffs and the Lions
- 54:56Speaker 3: would be out of the playoffs.
- 54:57Speaker 2: So they play the Bears three times in about seven weeks.
- 55:02Speaker 2: If that this is going to just shake up a lot.
- 55:05Speaker 2: There are so many divisional games backloaded in the schedule
- 55:08Speaker 2: and so on. Okay, that's a little football preview. We're
- 55:11Speaker 2: now going to get some points spread picks.
- 55:13Speaker 3: And I.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Managed last week to not lose for the first time
- 55:19Speaker 2: in five weeks. They didn't win either. I got fortunately,
- 55:22Speaker 2: got a good line in the Arizona Jacksonville game. I
- 55:25Speaker 2: took the Cardinals getting three points and they lost by three.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Let's see. I like Mike's pick of Hawaii over UNLV.
- 55:34Speaker 2: They were a three point underdog and they got smoked
- 55:36Speaker 2: by twenty eight points. And Paul was fortunate enough he
- 55:39Speaker 2: got a good line too. That was the Bears over
- 55:41Speaker 2: the Steelers. The Bears won the game by three points.
- 55:44Speaker 2: They were favored at the time we did our show
- 55:46Speaker 2: by two and a half. So he got to win.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Football games of course, start on Thanksgiving Day. For those
- 55:51Speaker 2: of you who listen to the podcast after the fact,
- 55:53Speaker 2: we're doing this one on the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. Paul,
- 55:56Speaker 2: you get to go first. He wants to go both
- 56:01Speaker 2: the over under and the point spread on the Bears
- 56:05Speaker 2: and the Eagles. Let's see here. Yeah, and I didn't
- 56:16Speaker 2: mention the Bears and the Eagles play on Friday. Yeah,
- 56:19Speaker 2: it is weird and it's just part of the NFL
- 56:21Speaker 2: screwing with college football. There's a zillion college football games.
- 56:24Speaker 2: The NFL just wants to play a game every week.
- 56:26Speaker 2: That's the whole thing that they've got going. The Eagles
- 56:29Speaker 2: are favored by seven and the total is forty four
- 56:32Speaker 2: and a half. Paul's taking the Bears. I just don't know,
- 56:40Speaker 2: which is why one of the reasons I brought it
- 56:41Speaker 2: up with Mike. I don't Paul thinks the Bears are better. Well,
- 56:47Speaker 2: I mean the Eagles coach is a super Bowl winner.
- 56:49Speaker 2: I mean, well last year he didn't he didn't want
- 56:53Speaker 2: his brain fell out in the off season. Yeah, Paul says,
- 57:01Speaker 2: they're always in the games at the end. Yeah, I
- 57:03Speaker 2: just it. The Bears are a tough team for me
- 57:07Speaker 2: to analyze. Usually teams in the situation like this losing
- 57:12Speaker 2: point differential despite an eighty three record, it just catches
- 57:16Speaker 2: up with you and you crushed down the stretch. But
- 57:19Speaker 2: the year that the Bears went to the Super Bowl,
- 57:21Speaker 2: the year that Devin Hester ran the kickback against the coast,
- 57:23Speaker 2: it was all year. It just never stopped until after
- 57:26Speaker 2: that kickoff return in the Super Bowl. On the other end,
- 57:29Speaker 2: if you look at the numbers. Philadelphia's offense is ranked
- 57:32Speaker 2: low and their defense is ranked low. But visually when
- 57:36Speaker 2: I see them play, they look very good. And as
- 57:39Speaker 2: Mike said, for two and a half quarters, they just
- 57:41Speaker 2: were dominant of Dallas. I just don't know. I don't
- 57:44Speaker 2: know that we need to go to Mike for an
- 57:45Speaker 2: analysis because we just talked about that game in some depth.
- 57:47Speaker 2: So let's get a point spread pick for Mike. Which
- 57:49Speaker 2: game or games do you want to hear about.
- 57:52Speaker 3: Let's start in college. I'm to look at the UAB
- 57:57Speaker 3: Tulsa game to start. That's number three eighty nine, three ninety.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:03Speaker 2: I already know who you're gonna pick. Let's see three
- 58:06Speaker 2: eighty nine, three ninety. That game is at Tulsa. Tulsa
- 58:11Speaker 2: is favored by eight and a half over UAB. That's
- 58:14Speaker 2: in the American Association Conference.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't like land points the teams that aren't great,
- 58:19Speaker 3: but I'm taking Tulison there.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you on that. Tulsa the end
- 58:23Speaker 2: of the season, they're not any good, but they've ended
- 58:26Speaker 2: the season well. UAB got rid of trend dil for
- 58:29Speaker 2: earlier in the season. He's the worst coach in college football.
- 58:33Speaker 2: I think, and I'm guessing this is what you're gonna
- 58:35Speaker 2: go on. Tulsa now has something to play for. They
- 58:37Speaker 2: feel good about themselves, and UAB is in a mess.
- 58:40Speaker 2: The whole team's going to hit the portal, the coaches
- 58:42Speaker 2: that are there are all going to leave, and and
- 58:45Speaker 2: Tulsa has some momentument you had be's defense and just
- 58:47Speaker 2: their atrocious I hope I didn't steal all your points
- 58:50Speaker 2: because I know you'll have a lot more.
- 58:52Speaker 3: No, you you hit on some of them. But you're right.
- 58:54Speaker 3: I mean UAB has lost seven of the last eight games.
- 58:57Speaker 3: The only one they won was the weekend after they
- 59:00Speaker 3: fired Trent del for which happens a lot.
- 59:02Speaker 2: It does happen a lot. It's weird, but it happens
- 59:04Speaker 2: a lot.
- 59:05Speaker 3: It's weird NFL and college just it happens. I don't
- 59:08Speaker 3: know why it happens when it happens. So you got
- 59:10Speaker 3: to keep that in mind. So they're not playing well.
- 59:15Speaker 3: They just play back to back home games and lost.
- 59:18Speaker 3: It's a meaningless road game for them. Like you said,
- 59:21Speaker 3: Tulsa now beat Oregon State at home handily. They want
- 59:25Speaker 3: at Army last week, which is pretty impressive. So they're
- 59:28Speaker 3: playing well, and the UAB team is in there in disarray.
- 59:32Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw. I mean they had
- 59:34Speaker 3: a guy on their team, a defensive lineman, stabbed two teammates.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they a guy tried to kill two of his
- 59:40Speaker 2: teammates before the game, and they didn't even usually like
- 59:43Speaker 2: you'll cancel the game. They just went ahead and played
- 59:46Speaker 2: the game. Dissension. I've never heard of somebody trying to
- 59:50Speaker 2: kill two of his teammates on game day.
- 59:53Speaker 3: I mean, he's charged with attempted murder. He's on the team.
- 59:56Speaker 3: And they considered not playing their home game last week
- 59:59Speaker 3: again USF. They lost by thirty, but they decided to
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: play it because the two players are in stable condition.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: The two players that he stabbed aren't going to.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Die so well in the school, didn't want to give
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: up the revenue because the game was not going to
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: be replayed, and so on. I mean, you're you're right.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: They are a mess. The problem, of course, is that
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: tuls is not that good, but you but they they
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: have improved. They played two pretty good games in a
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: didn't They just upset someone last week? Last week at Army,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: which is a tough place to win, and they put
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: up some points, and Army's defense is pretty good. So
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I don't even know who Telsea's coaches, but it looks
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: like he's turning the program around over there. Who is
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: their coach?
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: You know, I can't think of it off the top
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: of my head, No, Richardson, I can't.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: All Right, weird game that I'm not going to use
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: is my pick. But you don't see this often. We've
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: got a college football game this year in which the
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: teams are playing for a second time. The reason for
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: that is there's one conference. It has only two teams,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: the PAC two, Oregon State and Washington State. So this
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: is the second time that they played this and that's
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: that's weird. Oregon State won the first game. Washington State's better,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: so everybody thinks Washington State's gonna kill Oregon State. Uh
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: in that game. But that's a weird anomaly of a game.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I gave serious thought to taking Ohio State in the
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: game that Mike and I were talking about, in part
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: because wait, I just Michigan is winning so many close
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: games and the offense is getting better. They have Underwood,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: the highly touted freshman quarterback, and Mike points out Ohio
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: State hasn't played anybody. That's true, but they just seem
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: so dominant when they play. I'm just not gonna fight
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: that trend though of Ohio State crapping every year. In
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: this game, there was another game I looked at that
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: we get underneath Mike's skin. I think this is the
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: way to play Hawaii. They put they play Wyoming, Wyoming
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: has to go to Hawaii. They're not gonna pay any
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: of it. Wyoming's offense is life Wisconsin. They just can't
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: do anything. And I think Hawaiians the season with a win.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: But I just there's another game that I want to
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: go to, and that's the game between Colorado and Kansas State. Now,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Kansas State's in a tricky situation. Last week, they went
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: on the road to Utah, and Utah is a really
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: good team and they had him beat. They were way
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: ahead in the game and Utah came from behind to
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: win fifty one to forty seven in a wild game.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Kansas State comes home, they're five and six. That means
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: they need to win to be ball eligible. And the
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: key to this is they're playing Colorado. The whole Dion
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Sanders thing has become a train wreck out there. Colorado
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: is terrible. They just lost two home games in a row.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: They lost it home to Arizona last week by twenty
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: five points. There's you talk about bad chemistry on the team.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: It's just a mess, and people don't know if Dion's
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: going to be back. He's not going to be fired
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: because he's biot is through the roof, but he might
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: just instead of continuing to humiliate himself, cite his health
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: because he's got all sorts of health issues and leave.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: My only concern is that Kansas State may be drained
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: by what happened last week. There are also rumors that
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: the coach of Kansas State might be in trouble. But
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I do think I'm laying sixteen and a half here.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: I think Kansas State can beat Colorado because Colorado's been
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: losing by seventeen or more every single week. They put
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: in one decent game against I think West Virginia a
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: couple of weeks ago, otherwise they're getting slaughtered. Also, Colorado
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: does have a tremendous freshman quarterback, Juju Lewis. He hadn't
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: played all year. He did get put into the game
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: last week. Dion Sanders has said he will not play
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: in this game because they want to keep his red
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: shirt status so he keeps all of his years of eligibility.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: I actually think that that was probably the quarterback saying
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: I don't want to play in this game, and Dion
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: being forced to put up with it. So I'm going
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: to take Kansas State to win by seventeen or more.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: That line's bopped around, and when it moved underneath seventeen
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: in our service scores and odds, that's where I landed.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: But I had lots of ideas, and by the way,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: I don't have a single idea the NFL, so I
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: was only on college games. Do you have any thoughts
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: in that game? I just think Kansas State's a much
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: better team. I admit you have to worry about a
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: team that just went through the ringer of a game,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: but that was a road game and they are back
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: home against a team that just appears to not be
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: any good, with a disconnected coaching staff and lack of
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: motivation and all of that. What do you think.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Yeah, my guess is that game is going to be
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: above seventeen by the time they play, So that game's
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: probably going to move up.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: On the service we use. It was seventeen and a
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: half yesterday and they went down to sixteen and a
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: half and it's been flopping around all over the place.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: I just the only fear I have is that it's
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: too obvious, you know.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's a big line. Colorado's lost three
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: of their last four games like twenty five points or more.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: And the thing that I like about this game again
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: is last week, if you looked, Kansas State out played
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: to Utah on the road, which Utah has pretty much
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: creamed everyone at home, with the exception of Texas Tech.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: And they Kansas State in that game rushed for all
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: almost five hundred yards.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: They had one guy run for two ninety three and
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Colorado is terrible against the run. I mean, that was
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: another thing that I looked, just looked at. I think
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: if Kansas State can get a lead, they're just going
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: to grind them down. Now, Kansas State's quarterback has been
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: very good, but he's struggled a bit the last couple
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: of weeks. But the running games got really good. And
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Colorado's defense is poor and their run defense is especially poor.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Yeah, wells as they were running for four hundred and
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: seventy two yards last week on Utah Colorado against Arizona
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: State gave up three hundred and fifty five yards rushing
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: right week. So it's it's supposed to be cold and
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: windy and snowy possibly there, which would actually benefit Kansas
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: State because Colorado can't run, if they can't pass because
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: it's wendy, They're in huge trouble in that game.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Okay, recapping the picks real quickly, Paul says, take the
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: Bears a seven point underdog against the Eagles. Mike. Mike says,
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Tulsa to beat UAB by nine or more and I
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: need Kansas State to be Lorado by seventeen or more points.
