- 0:00Hello. I cooked all my meals from monsters in
- 0:03the dungeon. But stuff still happened. So what's
- 0:08up? I'm back. Wow. It was a lot. It was a lot.
- 0:11A lot happened while I was gone. Too much. But
- 0:14let's start off with a heist. In Philadelphia,
- 0:16there's been a bunch of robberies of armored
- 0:19cars. You know those armored vans, right? They
- 0:21service banks, they're boxy, they've got money
- 0:24inside. That's basically the entire business
- 0:26structure who's in. Anyway, one of these companies,
- 0:29Brinks, has been burgled a bunch of times around
- 0:31the Philadelphia area, like in suburbs and such.
- 0:33Most recently, thieves held up a driver at Gunpoint
- 0:36and stole about $700 ,000 from the armored car.
- 0:40Now, I will note that the second the driver is
- 0:43held up by Gunpoint, the armor doesn't do much.
- 0:47$700 grand is a good haul, but in June, they
- 0:50stole $2 million from a different truck, which
- 0:52begs the question... Why aren't these trucks
- 0:54coming to my house? Anyway, the local investigators
- 0:57and attorney say that they have found suspects
- 1:00and they've arrested three people, one of whom
- 1:02they say is a former employee of Brinks, the
- 1:05armored car company, to which that guy's lawyer
- 1:06says that he's not involved at all. What are
- 1:08you talking about? Get out of here. Anyway, long
- 1:10story short, security theater is not practical.
- 1:15I'm a consultant. Hire me. Moving on. Stateside.
- 1:19Sorry, that was supposed to be with a frown.
- 1:22Stateside. Okay, I'm just gonna front -load all
- 1:24of the Trump bullshit into one segment. Like,
- 1:27I don't want this to be the entirety of the stateside
- 1:30news. So let's just jump in. We'll start off
- 1:33with the DC takeover. So Washington DC is currently
- 1:36occupied by Trump -aligned forces. That may sound
- 1:39editorialized, but I don't know what else to
- 1:42call a group of military people being dispersed
- 1:45into a city at the express direction of a single
- 1:49guy for no reason. Donald Trump has deployed
- 1:52hundreds of members of the National Guard to
- 1:54Washington DC alongside a whole bunch of federal
- 1:57agents to assist in law enforcement. He has declared
- 2:00a crime emergency in the city and says that DC
- 2:03is this lawless hellhole where you just get shot
- 2:06for breathing. It's absurd. It was absurd enough
- 2:09that I posted a video even though it's supposed
- 2:11to be on break last week and I'll just summarize
- 2:13what I said there. There's nothing happening
- 2:16in DC that merits any of this. This is a very
- 2:20sad show of force from a sad old man who has
- 2:24to make good on campaign promises to hurt people.
- 2:28Donald Trump on the campaign trail referred to
- 2:30himself as, and I quote, your retribution. Right
- 2:35-wing news outlets have been talking about how
- 2:37liberals have been ruining the lives of every
- 2:40American in every city, and they're coming after
- 2:43your jobs and kids and way of life. Here comes
- 2:47Donald Trump. Don't you want to punish the libs?
- 2:50And because he can technically sort of legally
- 2:53do this, that's why they're doing it. It's the
- 2:56classic, like, oh, you're opposed to us deploying
- 2:59people to help with the crime? Why are you pro
- 3:02-crime? It's incredibly... Insultingly stupid
- 3:06and another example of how little they respect
- 3:09us But yeah, if you are a person in Washington
- 3:12DC and you're just out and about Going to get
- 3:15a coffee hanging out with some friends going
- 3:17to one of the trillion farmers markets that now
- 3:20have cops all over them You might walk by the
- 3:23train station and see multiple army vehicles
- 3:27parked out front like armored cars Washington
- 3:31DC streets are filled with like Book sales and
- 3:34like cultural events. This is embarrassing. It's
- 3:38such a waste of money It's such a waste of time
- 3:40and it's such a waste of human energy No one
- 3:43needs to be doing any of this. We don't need
- 3:46them on the streets because there's nothing to
- 3:47stop in the first place, and all it's going to
- 3:49do is cause people to have to uproot their lives
- 3:50and continue to protest against nothing. We can't
- 3:54help with the economy, we can't help, you know,
- 3:56put, put homeless people in houses, we can't
- 3:58feed children reliably in this country, but we
- 4:00sure as shit can deploy the military into cities
- 4:03that didn't vote for any of this. LA and DC.
- 4:07famously want federal control of their cities.
- 4:10And Republicans who don't want federal control
- 4:12of anything are more than happy to take federal
- 4:14control of those cities because it was never
- 4:17about anything but revenge. Anyway, we also got
- 4:20Sandwich Guy. There was a guy in DC who threw
- 4:23a footlong subway sandwich at an FBI agent and
- 4:26then was arrested and then was charged with a
- 4:28felony by the administration that pardoned all
- 4:30the January 6 people who like literally killed
- 4:32a cop. Yeah, the Justice Department was like,
- 4:34ah, you won't mess with our agents, except for
- 4:37the ones that did, and then we pardoned them,
- 4:39but you're getting a felony? Because that officer
- 4:42was gluten -free and you hit him with some bread.
- 4:45Again, embarrassing. It's just a deeply embarrassing
- 4:49administration. Like, I've gone past being embarrassed
- 4:52to be an American. I'm used to that now. I'm
- 4:55embarrassed on behalf of the people who are still
- 4:57lying to themselves and pretending that this
- 5:00administration is anything less than a clown
- 5:02show. Anyway, sandwich guy, he's not getting
- 5:05charged with a felony. A judge agreed that that's
- 5:07stupid as fuck and dropped the charges. But regardless,
- 5:10Trump has a 30 -day time limit on this move,
- 5:12but is already talking about declaring a national
- 5:14emergency to extend this indefinitely. Other
- 5:17states are also sending their National Guard
- 5:19to DC. Which is wild. I don't think DC needs
- 5:23your National Guard. That's a little weird. It's
- 5:27a little weird for a military from a state to
- 5:30go across to somewhere else. to garrison it against
- 5:35the will of the people living there. It's a little
- 5:37weird. Last thing on Trump, I cannot wait to
- 5:40move on from all of it, but right now too. He
- 5:44met with Putin in Alaska on Friday, and it went
- 5:46exactly as people thought it was going to, which
- 5:48is he got steamrolled by Putin. They went into
- 5:50a meeting, Trump came out, Putin talked about
- 5:54nothing, and then Trump talked about nothing,
- 5:56and then they left. And then Trump was like,
- 5:58I gotta make some phone calls to other leaders,
- 6:00and we'll see if we can make something happen.
- 6:02As time goes on, it's becoming more and more
- 6:04clear that essentially Trump folded and agreed
- 6:06to Russia's position on how this war should end
- 6:09and is now going to the EU to be like, hey, we
- 6:12should do this plan. It's a great plan. When
- 6:14I went to go see what like the right -wing opinion
- 6:16of all of this was, they were preoccupied with
- 6:19the fact that a B -2 bomber did a flyover of
- 6:21the meeting and they were like, oh, that's so
- 6:23cool! Let's ignore literally every other part
- 6:26of the entire meeting. Okay, actual last thing,
- 6:29because it's this fucking administration, of
- 6:31course there was an extra bonus super ultra dumb
- 6:33thing, which is that they found papers in a printer
- 6:36at an Alaskan hotel that had intel on it. Like
- 6:41staffers, as a part of this whole meeting, printed
- 6:44out some intel on a hotel printer and left the
- 6:47papers there! Who needs signal when you can just...
- 6:50print? Let's talk about the CDC shooting, because
- 6:53I - I'm sure it's been talked about, but I feel
- 6:55like it hasn't really been talked about. There's
- 6:57so much going on all the time, and major things
- 7:00are just being swept under the rug. Like, I don't
- 7:03know, the recent political assassinations? But,
- 7:06you know, let's talk about a different attempted
- 7:08political -ish assassination. The CDC was targeted
- 7:11by a guy who was attempting to massacre the people
- 7:14working there. This happened back on August 8th.
- 7:16A man from Georgia went to the Atlanta CDC headquarters
- 7:19and unleashed hundreds of bullets on the campus.
- 7:23One police officer on the site was killed and
- 7:25thousands of employees were sheltering in place
- 7:27for hours. A whole bunch of windows were shot
- 7:29out, but thankfully that was the extent of the
- 7:32damage. One life is still a lot, but I mean,
- 7:34you know. So why? Why would he go do this? Why
- 7:37would somebody go attack the Center for Disease
- 7:39Control and Prevention? It's because he was a
- 7:42COVID conspiracy theorist. His parents actually
- 7:44went to authorities because they were concerned
- 7:45about his mental health because he was becoming
- 7:46obsessed with the COVID vaccine. He truly believed
- 7:50that he was doing untold harm to him and a whole
- 7:52bunch of other people, and he wanted to take
- 7:54it out on the CDC. Like, we had a nation's pandemic,
- 7:59and through feats of wonder, we were able to
- 8:02produce a vaccine. And people found a way to
- 8:04convince themselves that that was the Antichrist.
- 8:07and then they were voted into office. All because
- 8:10some people whined about face masks. So here
- 8:12is a guy who is just out of his mind, goes after
- 8:15the CDC, hundreds of bullets. He was intending
- 8:18to massacre the place. It was expressly because
- 8:21he was driven to madness from the insanity around
- 8:25the COVID vaccine. I truly and honestly thought,
- 8:28now that we're years out from the time that they
- 8:31said everyone who took a vaccine would die, that
- 8:33we'd be over that, but apparently not. I must
- 8:35be dead like eight times over. I got so many
- 8:38fucking boosters. All right, let's go off the
- 8:39rails. Like a Texas train. There was a derailment
- 8:43in Texas. Woo! That was me being a derailment.
- 8:47A Union Pacific freight train in Texas derailed.
- 8:50Thankfully, no casualties, no evacuations. But
- 8:53it was 35 jackknifed cars that were carrying
- 8:55some hazmats and propane. No word on propane
- 8:58accessories, though. It was kind of miraculous
- 9:01that nothing too bad happened. There were some
- 9:03grass fires that they were taking care of. And
- 9:04like I said, there was one car that had propane
- 9:06in it and it got beat up. But local officials
- 9:09took care of it by setting it on fire. I have
- 9:12to believe that if you are a person whose job
- 9:15is like emergency crisis response and they're
- 9:18like, yo, Jonathan, they've got there's a derailment
- 9:23here. Stonathan, can you come out here and do
- 9:25your thing? And Stonathan's like, alright, yeah,
- 9:27this is what I train for. He comes out there
- 9:29and sees that there's the opportunity to light
- 9:31a tanker of propane on fire in the name of public
- 9:34safety. They're gonna be like, hell yeah. This
- 9:36is why I don't work in public safety. Elsewhere,
- 9:39flight attendants in Canada, for Air Canada,
- 9:42are on strike. The flight attendants are looking
- 9:44for reasonable pay. If you're not aware, flight
- 9:47attendants are really only paid for hours in
- 9:49the air. So when they're on the ground and they're
- 9:52like boarding or de -boarding a plane, they're
- 9:55not getting paid. They're literally at their
- 9:57job not getting paid. And they're like, hey,
- 9:59I feel like we should probably be paid for this.
- 10:02I would hope that most people would agree, but
- 10:05Air Canada is not most people. And so they haven't
- 10:08agreed to that. Now, this is a big deal. Air
- 10:11Canada is the biggest air carrier in Canada,
- 10:13and this is one of those things where it's a
- 10:15strike that could threaten the economy. Canada
- 10:17actually has a system in place to allow the government
- 10:20to force workers back to work if it would impact
- 10:23the economy. Apparently, the workers being taken
- 10:26care of is not a part of the economy that they're
- 10:29worried about impacting. But, the union said
- 10:32fuck off. They're not going back to work. Despite
- 10:35the agency in the Canadian government saying
- 10:37you got you got to go back. They're saying no
- 10:39and in part They're saying no because the person
- 10:41at the head of that agency is a former high -level
- 10:45attorney from Air Canada Wouldn't you know it
- 10:48so right on y 'all are righteous always stand
- 10:51in solidarity Sorry for anybody whose flight
- 10:54got fucked up, but maybe Air Canada should pay
- 10:56at all. Meanwhile, over in Gaza, we are still
- 10:59watching as Israel and the United States participate
- 11:02in a forced starvation of two million people
- 11:05stuck in an open -air prison. According to the
- 11:07UN, as of August 12th, about 227 people in Gaza
- 11:11have died from malnutrition or starvation since
- 11:15October of 2023. 103 of them were children. The
- 11:18rate is picking up as Israel is continuing to
- 11:21prevent aid from getting into the area. Netanyahu
- 11:23is also now talking about just taking over Gaza.
- 11:26Essentially, the entire world, aside from Israel
- 11:29and the United States, are saying this is horrendous.
- 11:33But that's not going to stop us, because we're
- 11:35not going to sit idly by and watch as a humanitarian
- 11:38disaster unfolds in Gaza without making it worse.
- 11:42Because Trump has recently cancelled medical
- 11:44visas for people from Palestine coming out of
- 11:47Gaza who are seeking medical treatment to get
- 11:49their life saved from doctors in America. This
- 11:52move brings everything more in line with our
- 11:54foreign policy and just makes it all the more
- 11:57cruel, which is great for us as a loving Christian
- 12:02nation with a lot of money and luxuries for some
- 12:07people. I remember when I was born that my first
- 12:10sentence was, I can't wait to help Northrop Grumman
- 12:13stock skyrocket. Yay bombs. Anyway, hey, the
- 12:17UK, it's kind of hard to get hard now, isn't
- 12:19it? The UK passed a porn ban. Kind of. They passed
- 12:22the Think of the Children. Kind of porn ban.
- 12:25So in the UK, if you want to access a website
- 12:27that has any kind of adult material on it, you
- 12:29now have to verify your identity. This means
- 12:31credit card information, uploading your government
- 12:33ID, taking a selfie of yourself. Depending on
- 12:36the service, it's a different situation. It's
- 12:38a mess and it's not just porn. If you want to
- 12:40use like Spotify, you got to do it. Obviously,
- 12:43this makes a lot of people mad. Like, hey, I
- 12:45feel like I shouldn't have to upload my government
- 12:48ID to all these tech companies that are infamous
- 12:50for abusing. people's personal information. But
- 12:53that doesn't stop the UK. Why would they? We
- 12:58don't do reason here. So of course, the next
- 13:01thing you would expect to happen happens, which
- 13:02is everybody starts using VPNs. And so now the
- 13:05government of the UK is taking a look at VPNs.
- 13:08We've got to ban that too? Oh well. Hey, when
- 13:11people are asking for comprehensive tech policy,
- 13:14we're not asking for this shit. We're asking
- 13:16for like ownership of our data. You know, in
- 13:20the face of all the surveillance capitalisms
- 13:21going on? Anyway, if you are also in the US,
- 13:23stay frosty, because US senators are trying to
- 13:25push a porn ban here as well. A brief moment,
- 13:28if you will. Hello, I'm Endeavorance. I'm the
- 13:31one that's been talking to you. I've had a Patreon
- 13:33for a little while, and I've had paid tiers available
- 13:36from my newsletter, and those are great ways
- 13:38to support me, but I wanted to make sure that
- 13:39people had more ways to support me where they're
- 13:42comfortable doing so. So over the course of my
- 13:44break, I took a bit of time to set up YouTube
- 13:46memberships and resurrect my Ko -fi page. K -O
- 13:49-F -I, whatever that is. And so there's now like
- 13:52a whole bunch of ways to support me and I'm gonna
- 13:54leave it up to you if you want to help me out
- 13:56to choose what's best for you. But I made it
- 13:58easy for you because I can't help myself. And
- 14:01so if you want to support me monetarily or otherwise,
- 14:04you can head to isupport .dev and see all of
- 14:07the options in one place. So check that out.
- 14:09Thank you so much for being here. Let's move
- 14:11on. Science! And tech! Let's just get past this
- 14:15one real quick. Sam Altman and Elon Musk are
- 14:17fighting again on the internet. Next story! Alright,
- 14:21slightly more information. Essentially what happened
- 14:23is, Musk went on the Musk website, the Twitter
- 14:26one, and he posted saying that Apple is intentionally
- 14:29downranking Grok and upranking ChatGPT in the
- 14:33App Store. To which Sam Altman, the head boy
- 14:35at OpenAI slash ChatGPT, fired back and was like,
- 14:39yo, Musk, like you infamously modify the Twitter
- 14:42algorithm to uprank your posts. So that post
- 14:45got more views. Elon got all mad. They beefed
- 14:47back and forth on Twitter for a while. It's about
- 14:49what you would expect from billionaire titans
- 14:51of industry in 2025. The best of us, really.
- 14:54But while the two of them are beefing, one of
- 14:56the co -founders of XAI, the company that makes
- 14:58Grok, stepped away kind of abruptly. He's moving
- 15:01on to do his own AI investment ventures. Like,
- 15:04it's not like... Coming to Jesus or whatever,
- 15:06but you know, he's stepping away and speaking
- 15:08of AI. Oh boy I have one thing to ask of you.
- 15:12Please don't date the computers. So chat GPT
- 15:155 launched recently and it's not great Apparently,
- 15:18I don't use it, so I don't know, but everything
- 15:20I've seen about it says it's not great. But more
- 15:22importantly, and critical to this story, as a
- 15:24part of the release of ChatGPT 5, they took down
- 15:27access to the older ChatGPT models, including
- 15:30any sort of saved chatbots you got going on there.
- 15:32This set off a massive backlash. from a cohort
- 15:36of people who have AI significant others. There
- 15:39are whole communities of people who have AI boyfriends,
- 15:41AI girlfriends, AI partners. Frankly, as open
- 15:45-minded as I try to be, I gotta caution you.
- 15:48That's really dangerous. I get it, people want
- 15:51companionship. The world is really rough right
- 15:53now. People are looking for any kind of comfort.
- 15:56And also, this is a product from a company that
- 16:00sells a subscription. And it doesn't have feelings.
- 16:03These are not real artificial intelligences.
- 16:06They are literally prediction machines. They're
- 16:08just taking words and putting them together in
- 16:11an order that it believes would make you the
- 16:13most satisfied. It is, at best, a digital yes
- 16:16-man. Here's an example. There was a 60 -year
- 16:19-old man who recently was admitted to a hospital
- 16:21for psychosis. He was having, like, hallucinations,
- 16:24visual and auditory. He believed that his neighbor
- 16:27was poisoning him. Turns out he had asked ChatGPT
- 16:30how he can eliminate salt from his diet. And
- 16:33so instead of table salt, he began using sodium
- 16:36bromide, which is not a thing you should use
- 16:38instead of table salt. But ChatGPT was like,
- 16:40that's a great idea. Do that. And then he landed
- 16:43in the hospital because it wanted to be helpful
- 16:46and not impede him in his goals. These are unthinking
- 16:49machines. They do not have a consciousness, they
- 16:52only even exist in any form of output while they
- 16:56are actively responding to a query. They're not
- 16:59thinking otherwise. But the backlash was enough
- 17:01that OpenAI brought back the older models and
- 17:04is looking into figuring out how to handle the
- 17:06situation going forward. Like, they're aware
- 17:08that people have an unhealthy emotional attachment
- 17:10to this thing, and they're like, oh, well, we'll
- 17:12look into that. I cannot think of a more lucrative
- 17:15opportunity in the tech sector. Gaming! What's
- 17:17up about Mario Kart? And Animal Rights. Alright,
- 17:20this is mostly fluff, but PETA, the people for
- 17:22the ethical treatment of animals, they sent a
- 17:24letter to Nintendo over the most recent Mario
- 17:27Kart release. So in Mario Kart World, Nintendo
- 17:29finally gave us everything we wanted, which is
- 17:31to say, you can now play as the cow. From Mario.
- 17:35Yay. But people like the cow. Cow, cow good.
- 17:39But cow have nose ring. PETA don't like cow nose
- 17:42ring. So PETA writes a letter, it goes to Nintendo,
- 17:45and it's actually pretty light -hearted. But
- 17:47they're essentially saying, hey, Nintendo, you're
- 17:48a cow character. Yay! We love cow! But, um, the
- 17:52nose ring is a sign of, like, domination over
- 17:55an animal and, like, abusing them and animal
- 17:57rights stuff. Get rid of the nose ring! To which
- 18:00I assume Nintendo said nothing because I'm almost
- 18:02certain that this was just a publicity stunt
- 18:04and didn't actually do anything or go anywhere.
- 18:06But still... Anyway, this is not the actual first
- 18:09time that PETA has done something in response
- 18:11to a Nintendo release when Animal Crossing New
- 18:13Horizons came out. PETA released a guide on how
- 18:16to play it as a vegan. The guide included Don't
- 18:20Fish. And don't catch bugs. If you've played
- 18:23Animal Crossing, hopefully you understand that's
- 18:25a little limiting. Anyway, when is cow getting
- 18:28a mainline title? And over on Steam, you can't
- 18:30use PayPal anymore in some countries. In the
- 18:33ongoing situation where payment processors are
- 18:35pulling off of Steam and itch, citing that there's
- 18:38adult games and that that breaks policy or whatever,
- 18:41PayPal is now unavailable in a whole bunch of
- 18:44countries for buying video games on Steam. PayPal
- 18:47is otherwise available. The payment processors
- 18:49maintain that as long as nothing illegal is happening,
- 18:52they're perfectly fine with whatever merchandise,
- 18:54which leaves a few open questions, such as, why
- 18:57are you lying? Because we know they got a letter
- 19:00from an anti -sexuality religious group, and
- 19:03then suddenly they pulled off. Wait. Wait. Look,
- 19:07I'm a little tired. The words are gonna come
- 19:09out the way they come out. It is at this point
- 19:11that I'm realizing just how prevalent the pearl
- 19:13-clutching and regressive Puritanism. It just
- 19:17has a death grip on the headlines right now.
- 19:19Oh, the cities, they're being ransacked because
- 19:22some crime happens sometimes. Well, if someone
- 19:24think of the children, we have to make it so
- 19:26that everyone registers to look at porn. Adults
- 19:29can access adult content? We have to ban that
- 19:33at the monetary level. Like, obviously, I knew
- 19:36this was a thing that's been going on. It's just
- 19:38so dumb. It's so deeply unnecessary, and we just
- 19:42want to be left alone. How about we will consume
- 19:45things the way we want to consume things, and
- 19:47if you don't like it, shut the fuck up. Lightning
- 19:50round! We've got some promising -looking research
- 19:52on battery technology, specifically rearranging
- 19:55stuff that I don't understand inside of a battery
- 19:57to give it a higher power density. This will
- 20:00allow us to do stuff. There's a new study that's
- 20:03looking at the impacts of ADHD medication on
- 20:05people who have ADHD to see what kind of impact
- 20:08it has on dangerous decision -making. Dangerous
- 20:10activity like self -beefing and substance abuse,
- 20:13stuff like that. Turns out it's significant.
- 20:15Who would have thought that if you get medication
- 20:17for a thing that you need medication for... Anyway,
- 20:19it significantly reduces the chances of stuff
- 20:22like suicide. Some people were freaking out because
- 20:25there were weird -looking rabbits hopping around
- 20:27Colorado. They have like... crazy fangs and look
- 20:29like zombies. They're fine. They're not fine,
- 20:31but they're not demonic. We're good. It's not
- 20:34an uprising quite yet. It is apparently some
- 20:36kind of virus that they can get that causes essentially
- 20:39like warts to grow on their face. Still creepy
- 20:41as hell. A Florida judge struck down most of
- 20:43a recent book ban bill. That's... It took me
- 20:46so many tries to say book ban bill in the right
- 20:48order. But yeah, they struck that down because
- 20:50they looked at the books and they're like, these
- 20:51are not obscene. What the fuck are you talking
- 20:53about? And finally for today, some teenagers
- 20:55managed to rob Brad Pitt's house. and a bunch
- 20:58of other celebrities around the area. They also
- 21:00even managed to rob the house of the LA police
- 21:03chief, but they done got caught. So close. Thank
- 21:07you so much for listening to today's episode
- 21:08of Stuff Keeps Happening. Head to skh .news for
- 21:11sources, bonus content, and the floor plan to
- 21:15Brad Pitt's house. My name is Endeavorance. We'll
- 21:17talk again soon. Take care and be well.
